I always underestimate how easy it can be to entertain a teenager. I have this preconception that small kids find everything fun even mundane stuff while teens are jaded and self-conscious and need elaborate or cool activities, but my teen cousins are visiting this week and when they arrived I was in the greenhouse having an issue with the filter in one of the tanks, so I asked them if they could catch all the fish from one tank and move them to the other tank, and they were delighted to be given little dip nets and sit on the edge of the tank to hunt fish for 20min. As I asked them to do it I was thinking, it’s like those duck-fishing fairground games from when they were toddlers, they’ll probably think it’s a bit cringe, and five minutes into it these jaded teenagers were like, hey it’s like duck fishing at the funfair when we were toddlers, I've missed it, it’s fun :D

COME ON BARBIE LET GO PATRIARCHY
Tumblr media
Something was different.
Yes, here is a huge hit, female directed, female written and female starring - breaking just amazing records. The first live action comedy to break the top 20 biggest opening weekends. First female directed, written and focused film in that top 20. 162 Million dollar opening weekend. Indiana Jones by comparison only did $60 million domestically and that was cherished cinematic IP with a male protagonist. Mission Impossible didn't crack 100 million and it too had a male protagonist. And it wasn't a holiday weekend. Just another weekend dead in the middle of summer with a huge iMax sized competitor in the Nolan film Oppenheimer - which probably did benefit more from Barbie than Barbie did from it in large part thanks to the genius double feature marketing of Barbieheimer. And some people apparently only saw Oppenheimer because Barbie was sold out.
But wait - so the male starring films all under performed? And Barbie DOUBLED Oppenheimer's take??
And worldwide - it's made over $400 million dollars! Surpassing Jones and Impossibley beating Mission Impossible. Already. In it's first week of release.
Every male driven movie this summer, aside from the testosterone filled mustache of Mario, had weak turnout. Yet the narrative from the industry has been that female centered films don't have enough demand. That people won't turn out for a movie about women and girls and for women and girls.
Yet...here we are...Barbie.
But that's not what I mean by different.
The film is unique. It wasn't what I expected. I thought it might be a fish out of water story in the real world like Enchanted. Or have some quest component whereby Barbie would need to find the hidden McGuffin golden slipper or devise some magic potion to stop some great evil from shooting a laser in the sky, again.
Instead I was met with fantasy.
A film structured and written as if kids were playing with their Barbies but not just kids - as if kids were playing Barbie with their Moms and their Moms were using the toys to educate their kids on the suffocating yoke of the male patriarchy.
But entire film felt like one long playdate with the truth.
From how Barbie magically moves to the ground or travels in between worlds - there's an active surreal quality where one action doesn't necessarily need explanation - she just is now on Venice Beach. She's just now in a white void. She's just now in Ben Shapiro's crawl keeping him from his precious beauty sleep.
But that's not what was different.
And though the film was almost a movie about Barbie AND Ken equally, with both having large arcs and equal screen time, where Ken wasn't just a supporting player but seemingly as much of a center of the movie as Barbie - with performances from Robbie and Gosling that were anything but plastic - but that's not what struck me as different...
Something happened in the theatre.
As the credits started to roll...
...normally everyone sits and maybe waits for an end credit scene quietly or simply slips out in silence...
...this time...
...as soon as the credits rolled...
...the whole theatre started talking, chatting, excitedly with each other, there was such a roar that you couldn't hear Billie Elish's whisper singing during the final song in the credits.
I've never really heard that before. That was different. Not Billie Elish’s whisper singing - will somebody please get that poor lady a throat losenge.
The chatter. The audience was awake.
There was an excitement. An eagerness to digest what they just saw. A glee.
And it was mostly a female audience.
Well I did hear one man explaining what he thought and say the word existential just a lot - there's always one Ken.
But it was different. This film managed to do something new. And it's honesty and straight forwardness and clarity was refreshing. It didn't just speak in metaphor - it at times just out right said the thing that needed to be said - that men needed to hear. And said them several times. Why? Because, speaking as someone who walks between both worlds, sometimes you have to tell a man something more than once for him to get off his ass and take the damn trash out.
And yet it didn't end on women taking control. The goal wasn't vengeance or domination - the goal was acceptance and ultimately...equality. We just aren’t there yet. Huh...a realistic ending to a plastic world.

The waves that lap the shore - Chapter two - The quest for mussels
Tumblr media
(divider by cafekitsune)
Chapter notes
hi y’all warning that this is kinda short anyway y’all get some Kwazii content in this one. edit: I changed clams to mussels because I forgot that shellington liked clam sandwiches lmao.
Tumblr media
Shellington opened his eyes and rubbed the sleep from them he wanted to find out more information about mermaids “hm… Kwazii probably knows… he usually knows a lot about that stuff” Shellington reasoned.
•••
Kwazii was playing a game of ping pong in the game pod with Codish and Barrot out of boredom, he was zoning out often. Shellington walked into the room, hoping that Kwazii had some answers.
“Hey Kwazii, do you know anything about mermaids?” Shellington asked  “yeah I know a lot about those fish scaled beasties” Kwazii murmured “they lure sailors to their deaths by singing their sweet, sweet enchantment songs and drown them and feed them to monsters of the deep” Kwazii exaggerated making some paw movements to go along with it.
“Okay…” Shellington responded I don’t think Kwazii is really a reliable source of real information considering he often exaggerates things, damn it why did I ask them?! Shellington asked himself as he walked out, thanking Kwazii.
Shellington sat at his desk researching, he started to get hungry for raw mussels, even though he usually hated mussels and he usually ate things cooked, not raw.
Shellington walked out of his lab to go get some clams “hey Captain do you have mussels?” Shellington asked, Captain Barnacles stared at him, confused.
“But I thought you hated mussels?? I thought they were one of your unsafe foods?” Captain Barnacles muttered “not anymore!” Shellington proclaimed “well I don’t have any mussels..” Captain Barnacles frowned “it’s fine I’ll just go get some myself” Shellington replied.
Shellington made it to the launch bay, placing a towel near the edge.
Shellington looked around before diving into the tank in the launch bay, making sure no one was around, his tail apparently before his eyes.
Shellington swam out of the Octohatch and went on a hunt for clams “where are those mussels?” Shellington asked himself, after a while of searching he finally found some.
Shellington cracked them open with his teeth, slurping the fishy insides letting out a hum and licking his lips afterwards, it started to get dark   .
“Jumping jellyfish! I need to get back!” Shellington exclaimed, soon disappearing into a trail of bubbles as he headed back to the Octopod.
The Octohatch opened as Shellington swam in thankfully no one was there, he preceded to dry off, his tail disappeared.
Shellington went to his lab, the vegimals had been waiting patiently for him, Codish and Tominnow ran up into his paws “I missed you guys” Shellington stated as he played with their leaves.
“Where did you go?” Tunip asked “just out for a swim” Shellington answered, Tunip just smiled and let out typical vegimal noises.
••••
Kwazii was going to go out for a joy ride in the gup-b, however he noticed something that caught his eye, a few scales “what are these doing here?” Kwazii wondered what or who did they belong to?
“I’ll bring these to Shellington later, he probably knows” Kwazii meowed as he put them in the pocket of his ripped up pants.
“Ahoy Shellington matey! I found these scales in the launch bay. Do you know what they are from?” Kwazii asked as he bursted into the room Shellington froze oh no… its onto me! what do I do?! Shellington began to panic.
“Are you okay matey?” Kwazii mrrped noticing Shellington’s unease “yeah and those are blue beta scales!” Shellington stammered “thanks!” Kwazii replied.
“What is wrong with him? why has he been acting so weird?!” Kwazii grumbled as he walked down the corridor, feeling confused and defeated.
Shellington began to panic, what if Kwazii found out?! what if anyone found out?! Shellington proceeded to collapse onto his bed and cry, “Shellington?” Peso murmured as he began to gently rub Shellington’s back “what’s wrong?” Peso added.
“Kwazii found my scales… I’m scared of them finding out… what if they tell everyone or something?” Shellington stuttered “I don’t think Kwazii would do that, even if he does find out he’d probably keep it a secret! he’s a pirate after all!” Peso assured.
“I guess you’re right..” Shellington breathed, feeling slightly at ease.

Aru shah birthday headcanons? Thank you.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARU SHAH 2023
So, Google says she was born in 2005, meaning this would be her 18th birthday!
Aru: That's right everyone. Henceforth, Aru Shah is officially a fully grown adult!
Everyone: 🤨
Aru: Ok, a grown adult!
Everyone: 🤨
Aru: FINE, AT THE VERY LEAST I AM AN ADULT NOW! MEANING I AM NOW FREE TO PARTY, DRINK, AND HAVE SE-
*Krithika clears her throat*
Aru: ...but I won't until I'm ready and well informed.
Krithika: Good. (Mini, you'll get your check in the mail)
Aru: What?!?
Krithika: LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED
The Scene: a small gathering of close family, friends, and others (cough cough Aiden). You would think it would be at the museum again, but after the Sleeper's attack...yeah not taking any chances. They just had it at Aru's house.
Round 1: Presents
Mini:
Is this a day planner?
Practical, isn't it? You can finally get things in order and-
Mini, some of the best things in life are surprises.
So are some of the worst, but not this time. Why don't you open it?
*opens* *SQUEE* A HOME DEPOT GIFT CARD
With practically infinite spending directly linked to Naga-loka's treasury, courtesy of the King.
DUDE I LOVE YOU
Brynne
I made the cake, isn't that enough? Ugh, fine, if you wanna be spoiled about it. Tear into this.
*opens* An old Marvel comic?
YOUR old Marvel comic. Spider Man, First Issue
YOU TOUCHED MY STUFF?!?
I didn't just touch it. I also took it somewhere (with Mini's help) and had someone take a look at it. Take a look at the bottom
OH MY- IS THIS-
Go on, say it!
YOU GOT IT SIGNED BY STAN LEE IN THE AFTERLIFE?!? BEE, YOU'RE AMAZING!
I know.
Twins
Ok, don't be too disappointed with ours
Guys, you're my sisters! It's the thought that counts! But just so we're clear, being young isn't an excuse to be cheap
And being old isn't an excuse to be material, but that's beside the point. Here.
WHOA! This green sari is like waving grass! And the glimmering silver makes it look like lightning is coursing through it! AND ARE THOSE REAL EMERALDS?!?
Of course, I'm not an amateur.
Open mine, open mine!
A tea set? Sheela, that's sweet but you know about Starbucks, right?
Is Starbucks enchanted to give you clear visions of memories like your own personal tv?
Shut up! It does not!
Try it!
*sips* I'm not crying am I? (She never tells anyone, but her first choice was her first memory of her father before he transformed)
Kara
Your sisters told me you like to read, so I picked this up for you. I hope you like it!
"The Serpent's Secret" interesting! Did they also tell you I'm a Slytherin?
No, I knew that already! As if I'd forget my sister's house.
*record scratch* What?
What?
(Little did Kara know, along with her book, she also gave her sister the gift of hope)
Mom
Ok, you don't know this, but I called in a quick favor from one of my old bosses...and a little bit from Mini's father.
Nepotism. I like it!
Aru, I want you to say hello to an old friend!
Mom, that's just BB
BB?!? Is that what you've been calling me all along?!? Such utter disrespect for your old teacher!
(Needless to say, everyone was in tears with that little blast from the past)
Round 2: Cake and Concert
No one knows how she pulled it off, but once again Brynne proved herself a master of amouse-bouches by making Swedish-fish tiramisu the size of a small desk. Everyone agreed it was light, flavorful, and not too tart due to the fish (and not just because she would've pummeled them otherwise)
While they were eating, Rudy's big gift was a surprise concert from Rudy Rox...and when everyone refused, he just had Mini teach him how to make a mixtape instead. It was fire, but also disorienting to move from Aiden's big song to the LOTR soundtrack. Still, Aru plays it everywhere she goes to this day...
Round 3: Pics
Everyone gathered around the living room for a picture to capture the moment. Obviously Shadowfax took them. Aiden's been taking pics all night (yes especially the embarrassing ones). It's hard to describe everyone's expressions in a way that makes them look as blissful as any other family, so let's just say it was perfect enough for Aru...
*Secret* Round 4: Aruden Time
*later, outside*
I forgot to give you your present
You pulled me aside. Like hell, you forgot
Hell?
I'm a big girl now, I can use big girl words
Then I guess you won't need this little girl present *runs*
Oh no you don't! *THUMP* Pinned ya!
Why are you like this Shah? (As if I didn't want that.) Why don't you see what you got?
*opens* *soft gasp*
I know it's not as good as Home Depot, Stan Lee, or Resurrected Boo, but I at least hoped it would be something you like-
*holds him tight and pulls him into a deep kiss* I love it!
And I love you, Shah. Happy Birthday, Aru.
You're probably wondering what he got her...well so am I, they never told me XD
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARU SHAH!

Forward/Backward {1}. Part 1
Fíann
There are a few things, in which my belief has remained unshaken through time, no matter how much of it has passed, or how old I have grown. One, all the non-human creatures my mother and grandmother – and, briefly, my great-grandmother – would tell me stories about, are, in fact, real, and we share the world with them. Some of them happily live in peace with humans, and are spirits humans see as spreaders of joy and light, perhaps even playing tricks on people, and others prefer to lurk in the dark, messing with humans for their own amusement or even going as far as torturing them. We may not see them, but they exist.
The other belief I hold claims that the weather here in Westport, Ireland where I was born shares an enormous similarity with my character; it remains forever stormy, dark and cold. The weather, however, can, and does, sometimes improve itself. My mood only rarely does. Like other humans, I discovered several things brought me great joy, all of them activities that spelled ‘normal’ on the surface: swimming, reading, playing the fiddle, singing and dancing, as well as taking walks on the beach and sunbathing and collecting seashells, which later turned into jewellery in my hands. Entirely normal human hobbies, right? Well, not really.
Those were all leisure activities, the love for which I shared with my great-grandmother, according to my grandmother and my mother’s stories about her; hobbies that they also found very pleasant. My mother is also a fiddler, and my grandmother loved to sing - and, whenever the weather allowed it, taking a swim in the sea was a favourite of theirs.
It’s likely no wonder I became a naval engineer, given the interest I had for the sea my entire youth; in school all I could think about was science, and I did well in maths too, well enough to guarantee my parents to offer me support in the pursuit of engineering. And what else would I study if not the sea? Devoting my life to the underwater life I had felt drawn to for years and years seemed like the only possible choice to make. And I made it.
The practicality of my work would keep me on the surface when the dreams about mermaids and hidden pirate treasure would leave me restless at night - and I had plenty of those, just enough to drive the hope for restful sleep out of my head forever. The dreams had started earlier, yet the little experience with them I gained in the beginning when they started made me none the wiser later when they returned around my thirtieth birthday around August’s end.
Could it be real? Could it turn out that the stories grandma would tell me when I was a toddler are true, and mermaids do exist? I would never forget the night when she shared her own mother’s tale with me, and showed me paintings of mermaids she had made when she had been young, paintings inspired by her mother. Great-grandma, she would say, loved the sea and the beaches as much as I did, and used to swim for hours and hours on end - she felt drawn to it, to water, and would play with water and swim as gracefully as a mermaid… because that's what she truly was. Great-grandmother was a pirate thrown off her ship.
She was no thief - but an adventurer’s blood ran through her veins, her own parents having gone on countless voyages at sea, great-great grandfather having been a fisherman spending days out at sea catching fish and then coming back with weird, wonderful stories about the fish and the glass-like clear waves of the sea that enchanted his daughter. The sea had put a spell on her from a young age, like it did with her daughter, my grandmother, and then with me. She simply could not stay away from it. She went on to join a pirate crew…
And when they fought with her and threw her off the ship, she sank quickly, the waves embracing her body. She had been insulted; the pirates had thought her too good for their company, and feared she would rat them out to the Royal Navy, or to another crew that sought the treasure they desired. But my great-grandmother thought herself to be an honest woman, and wanted to defend herself. They fought, and threw her into the sea.

🔥Find the Word Tag🔥
I was tagged for a Find the Word with the words: friend, glint, eyes, bled, handle, reflect, and mourn (they're put in chrono order rather than word order)
I'll tag: @sam-glade, @sentfromwolves, @clockworkgalaxies, @juls-writes, and @botanistweak for the words: smoke, chose, sleep, scar, and music
💧MOURN💧
Cursing, Captain McCormack dove for the copilot’s seat through the smoke and noise to pull Bobby’s still-warm body from the chair. He would mourn later. For now, he couldnt hear a thing, and he needed Bobby’s headset. Setting Bobby on the ground, Killian stripped the blood-and-fluid covered headset from his head and donned it. He sat heavily in the copilot seat, plugged in the intercom, and strapped his lapbelt on. “Status,” he demanded curtly while he scanned what was left of the instrument panel.
.
⌛BLED⌛
Mama Cass did in fact sleep on a cot in the kitchen, with one of her many guns. She was serious about the stairs being bothersome. It seemed odd to him that she chose to sleep in the kitchen, but it wasn’t like he could convince her otherwise.
Nights bled into mornings. By the time the Tom was closing, the docks west of them were starting their morning jobs. It was Sean’s job to get the fish orders for the day, for which Adler was grateful. Once he was done cleaning in the kitchen, he was off the hook to go get some sleep before he got up and did it all again.
.
👀GLINT👀
Doctor Thiggins pursed his lips. “Well, I must add the caveat that zimpedol has only cured a handful of patients of their comas. It works sometimes but no one’s been able to determine why.”
Mica got a wild glint in her eye, leaving Adler wondering again the last time she’d slept.
Doctor Thiggins continued. “You’ve been at this for a while, and I might as well mention the slightly crazed solution.”
.
💥REFLECT(ION)💥
He stopped and sighed. He looked at his hands. They were older, more calloused. His own face had seemed odd to him when he’d seen his reflection earlier. There were scars he didn’t recognize – the one on his throat combined with the one from a flashburn on his neck, for example, made him reason he’d been in a separate gnarly crash. It was clearly the reason for the change in his voice. His muscles were thinner and frailer than they were supposed to be. He was in no shape for a fight like this. Much less a combat mission.
.
🍹HANDLE(D)🍹
Taryn was pleasantly toasted by the time lunch was over, while Rinnie handled her liquor way better than any Islander had a right to. They meandered through town with no real plan, Rinnie puffing on her vaper. Taryn was vaguely aware of them traveling up the mountain Berthingtonn was built on, around, and underneath. The warm afternoon had them ditching their cloaks. Rinnie’d clearly enchanted them to not feel heavy as they carried them.
.
👁EYES👁
“Well, this night is off to a great start,” Killian remarked as he poured another round of drinks for a group of tigrin mercenaries. They were doing their best to get a recruit as sloshed as possible before springing their “initiation ritual” on the poor unsuspecting kid.
Mama chuckled in agreement but kept her eyes on the stage where a man who looked, if anything, older than she did played the fiddle while a slip of a girl in her teens sang the lyrics and beat a tambourine to a traditionally frowned-upon Berthan sailing shanty.
.
🧪FRIEND🧪
“These,” she smiled with satisfaction as she pulled out two thick glass vials.
She sat on the floor and pulled a beaker over. She uncorked both vials and concentrated on what she wanted to happen. Then with years of long practice she poured two exact amounts into the beaker and touched the chemical reactions with her Gift.
“No one looks at my friends like that and walks away in one piece.

Jolyne - No Ordinary Girl
Mermaid Y/N x Surfer Jolyne
Today was a particularly fitting day to go to the beach. Jotaro had taken Jolyne, Hermes and Foo Fighters to the shore. He mostly went for some observation and the girls decided they would take advantage of the nice weather for some surfing.
It was not long after they arrived and started installing themselves that Jolyne and Hermes' eyes fell into very familiar faces.
Annasui, upon seeing the group, walked towards the girls with a confident stance, making sure his long hair was flowing in the wind.
"Oh look who we have here. The ladies victory." Annasui exclaimed, before completely falling heart-eyed, his voice and tone softening, dreamy even, at the sight of his object of worship. "Hi Jolyne~"
"Oh! Weather Report's there! Hi Weas!" Jolyne called out to the older man arranging a parasol a few feet behind, her completely ignoring the pink haired-male that seemed to have come with him. He waved shortly at Jolyne in response.
"Anyways, what are you guys up to?" Hermes asked, sipping on some lime flavored granita.
"Well, as you can see..." He pointed at the ocean, "We just wanted to take a day to work out a bit, but the waves are real nice today."
He leaned in not so subtly towards Jolyne, despite Hermes' evident judging gaze.
"But you know what else is real nice today?" He brought his hand up to cup Jolyne's chin, but before he could even say or do anything, Jolyne leaned away and pointed behind him.
"Oh wow! My dad's coming back with drinks!" She called nonchalantly, looking behind Annasui like he was more transparent than air itself.
"...! DRINKS?! DRINKS!!" Foo Fighter gasped, pushing the feminine man off to the side with such force, he fell and slid against the sand.
"Hey, Jojo," Hermes tapped her friend's shoulder, "Let's show these pendejos how girls ride waves."
The Asian American smirked, eager to show who's boss and always ready to follow on her best friend's mischief. "I'm racing you then."
"Pfft, I won't go easy girlfriend." The Mexican cracked her knuckles and grabbed her plank.
After surfing for long enough and being outran by Jolyne's stamina, Hermes decided to go back and sunbathe next to F.F's who was playing cutely with sand.
Jolyne glided full speed over the water, the wind and droplets of salty water refreshing her skin. More than competition, Jolyne loved the acceleration, the adrenaline, the sweet fresh air through her long hair. When she was surfing, Jolyne's heart lightened up and her mind purged of any negative thoughts, anxiety, fears.
She was at peace.
Before she could enjoy the sweet taste of her peace of mind though, she caught up to a blond surfer in front of her who she recognized as she got closer. Oh god, not him of all people.
"Oh, hey! Isn't that the sexiest surfer in all Miami?" Romeo teased, admiring the girl who gained up on him, "Not bad, look at you go! Who knew my little Jojo would be so talented, hot damn!"
Jolyne frowned and clicked her tongue. She swore if she wasn't so focused on staying in balance, she would drown him on the spot. He laughed obnoxiously, satisfied with being a disgusting excuse of a human.
"Romeo, I swear to fuckin-"
Before she could even finish her sentence, something, a gigantic fish tail appeared out of the wave and flicked itself right accross the blonde, slapping him off of his plank with a painful sound.
"HUAARGHH-" He screamed before crashing into the water with the splash and disappearing behind Jolyne.
"O-OH MY GOD!" She gasped, both surprised by the sudden turn of events, and incredibly scared for her life, thinking some kind of hostile shark was in the shore currently, which was to report immediately.
The moment she decided to take a turn and leave as fast as she could, warning the others to get the hell out of here, a shadowy form within the water followed her along the wave.
Foolishly curious, Jolyne looked at it, not without her heart hammering in her chest at the potential danger she was facing.
What she saw was not a sight she'd have ever expected to ever see in all her 19 years. Her legs shook at the shock and she almost completely fell over her board.
Gliding along the water right next to her, right inside the tall wave, was the figure of... a girl.
Or was it a girl? It couldn't be. She looked human at first glance, but the more Jolyne's gaze moved sideways she noticed the long and impressive fish tail replacing what were supposed to be legs.
Jolyne's jaw felt slack. She felt like she was hallucinating. Believe it or not, she had not smoked or taken any recreative substances beforehand, but she truly wished she had because that would have at least explained what her eyes were showing her.
The girl swimming and following her only smiled, waving cutely with webbed hands, as if amused by Jolyne's disbelieving reaction and wide eyes.
"W-w-w.... What the fuck..???" Jolyne finally spoke after rebooting her entire brain, "No fucking way-...! A mermaid??!! A real one??!"
Like a bad trick from fate, the wave Jolyne was trying her hardest to not get swallowed by, seemed to grow weaker and weaker, shortening in size.
Jolyne saw the mermaid slowly retreat away in an elegant swim, her form vanishing into the deep blue.
"Wait, no!" The surfer called, almost desperate to have such a mystical meeting and ethereal moment be so short lived.
She reached her hand out to the creature, unsure of what she was even trying to do, but the force of the current got the best of her, and Jolyne lost balance, falling forward with nothing to hang onto for purchase.
Jolyne splashed onto the water and the wave died with her hope of ever living such a dream again.
"Ooohh dang it! You were almost there!" Hermes called out from the shore, her voice booming enough for Jolyne to hear as she broke into the surface.
"Fuck...." Jolyne cursed, hanging onto her board.
She felt defeated. Not because she couldn't ride that wave to the very end as she was expected to with her skill level, but rather because she couldn't immortalize that beautiful moment.
She blankly climbed onto her board again and barely even paddled her way back to land, too out of it to do so.
Was that even real? That had to be, right? She saw the mermaid. She saw her hair, her skin tone shined-on by the sun. She saw the scales over her skin, the fins along her arms and tail.
She saw her attack Romeo, he must have seen her too, Jolyne pondered.
"Aaah the champion is back!" F.F cheered as Jolyne finally walked back, drenched and with her plank under one arm. "I made a sandcastle for our ocean queen!"
"Thanks Foo..." Jolyne's small smile didn't not match her quiet tone.
"Hey, what's up, chula ? You look like you've seen a ghost, or something? You did great back there, so why the long face?" Hermes fixed the straps of Jolyne's bikini top and removed some seaweeds from her hair.
"It's just... I saw something weird it the water and I don't know..." Jolyne hesitated, "Maybe I was dreaming or something."
"Hum..." Hermes hummed in thought. "What do you think Féfé?"
"Maybe Mr. Jotaro can answer if you saw an animal? Damn, I'm thirsty." F.F stuck her tongue out, clearly expressing her thirst.
"Dude, there's water litterally everywhere here." The mexican grimaced before turning back to Jolyne. "But yeah, maybe you should ask your dad if that worries you so much."
"Uhh..."
Jolyne looked towards her father who was crouching somewhere next to some rocks, taking notes about mollusks, or so Jolyne guessed.
"Yeah, maybe not. It's fine though, no big deal." She smiled, waving her hand in dismissal.
Shrugging it all off, the girls decided to join Weather Report and Jotaro who brought food to finish the day at the beach with a relaxing touch.
And so, the day ended with an uncanny normalcy for Jolyne, who kept thinking more and more as the sun set, that it all had been in her mind. Mermaids didn't exist. It was probably a Stand user playing tricks on her.
That what she wanted to believe. When she thought of all the events that would follow, she truly wished she had spoken to her father about it. After all, if he had fought a very real vampire, then there would be no doubt that something as crazy as a mermaid could exist in her bizarre adventure.
Jolyne came back to the beach that same week. Alone, this time. She was careful to come by the time the sun started to lower in the sky and the temperature of the water and air dropped, knowing tourists and athletes would be gone by this time.
'What now?' She thought. Coming back out of sheer curiosity was a thing, but making sure she could attract the creature back to her was something else.
"Should I bring food? What do mermaids even eat? Does she like hot dogs...?" Jolyne thought out loud, looking around, secretly glad no one was here to hear her talk mad nonsense to herself like some insane crackhead.
She approached the water and drenched her feet in the small rocking waves, coming and going her way and gently splashing her. She hesitated for a moment, remembering that along with the legend of mermaids came the fact that these creatures were known to attract and enchant humans by their beauty, leading them to their inevitable death.
So maybe, Jolyne accepted, she was destined to die in the ocean.
Just as she came hip-deep into the sea, she felt a strange current shaking her legs, almost knocking her out of balance.
Before she could even process how strange it felt, she looked down into the clear water and saw no less than the same huge colorful fish tail she had seen that very day.
She gasped in realization and soon enough screamed as she felt calloused hands grab her thighs, the creature pushing herself out of the water to be met face to face with the human who had been, unbeknownst to Jolyne, her newfound fixation.
"Y-WHAAAAAHH!!!" Jolyne hollered, not expecting such a strong and surprising appearance.
The mermaid still halfway into the water, climbed and gripped up the girl's hips for leverage. She looked up at Jolyne's face, smiling wide and eyes glinting in both adoration and mischief.
"Greetings."
"HOLY CRAP-" Jolyne's voice cracked, "I mean- fuck yes! I mean-..."
Poor Jojo was completely out of it. But who could blame her, though? It was not everyday that one got to meet a real mermaid in the flesh. And certainly not such a handsy one.
She cleared her throat and mustered her most suave voice, pretending she wasn't completely flustered by the sheer beauty before her.
"Hi."
"I knew you'd come back..." The mermaid spoke, her voice almost ethereal and distant, "They always do."
Jolyne's heart wanted to stop. God, she felt burning hot and was sweating everywhere. Her voice stilled Jolyne to place in a way she couldn't explain. The legendary creature was so impossibly close to her, bodies almost touching.
She noticed she couldn't stay up overwater any other way than using Jolyne's lean body for leverage, her heavy tail anchoring her down. But the warm proximity between them and the sight of such a beautiful, rare and mystical creature right under her chest felt unreal and exciting.
Jolyne wanted to look her over for hours. Her hair texture, drenched and flowy, her skin tone glowing like gold, her holographic scales and fins shining like crazy diamonds.
"Why... Why did you...? Of all people...?" Jolyne questionned, now wondering if their first meeting in that wave was really a trick of fate, or if she was chosen in any way. "You attacked Romeo, yet you showed up to me... Why me?"
"I like beautiful humans." The mermaid smiled, her radiant features and smooth voice making Jolyne's legs weak, "You're beautiful."
The young surfer couldn't help her heart shaking and the wave of warmth spreading through her chest. If it was anyone else, she would boast her obvious beauty or maybe flip them off. But now she couldn't. Being complimented by a mythical being that was already the most gorgeous thing Jolyne had ever witnessed was truly something else
"What's your name?" Jolyne started.
"Call me Y/N."
Y/N, Jolyne's mind echoed. Cute. Even mermaids had names, she thought before realising that may be a very stupid thought to have. She didn't really know what else to expect.
"I uh, I'm Jolyne..." She looked down into the water, somewhat not daring to look at Y/N's adorable curious and sensual gaze. Oh god that was bad, she was entrancing.
"Not to be gay but...You look cute. Hot even. Can I say that? That's not weird, right? Since ya know... You're not exactly human, but you're not an animal either, like... I'm not gonna get arrested for this... I hope..."
"I'm not too familiar with human tongue, but I think Ms.Jolyne looks really pretty as well." Y/N moved to wrap an arm around Jolyne's waist, gripping her for better leverage and pointing at her chest, right in her reach. "Healthy mammals, great for feeding the young."
"Mammals...? Oh! You mean my boobs?" Jolyne glanced at her modest chest before grinning at the creature, "Aw thanks! Finally someone who likes them who's not some degenerate creep!"
Jolyne's chuckle died down and she finally took the time to look over Y/N's face. She ran a cold hand over her much warmer cheek, gliding it down to her gilled neck, mesmerized by her anatomy.
It truly was a one-in-a-lifetime meeting. Jolyne was slowly comprehending her luck to be met with a legendary sea creature like her. And a friendly one, at that.
How could this be even real? Our human knew that even though she was feeling relatively serene at the moment, the adrenaline would come down later and she would most likely cry herself to sleep.
"Hey uhm..." Jolyne was at a loss for words. There were so many things to say, but at the same time, she couldn't speak a word.
"Hm?" Y/N hummed and closed her eyes, enjoying the human's gentle touches.
Merfolks would express themselves via physical ministrations the most in the ocean, but she knew well a lot of humans did not share intimacies, or at least not before building a certain bond.
Glad that Jolyne was open to it, the sea-bound girl squeezed both her arms around the human's waist lovingly, forcing endearment on Jolyne, who felt her own heart tighten at the sweet and adorable embrace. The girls wanted to keep each other.
"Will we see each other again? I mean, I know you shouldn't be noticed by the public for your safety, but I don't know... Guess I took a liking to you or something." Jolyne mumbled, still resting her hands mindlessly around the creature's shoulders, fiddling with the ridges of her dorsal fin.
Y/N smiled, a smile that looked empty on her fish eyes, but sincere regardless. She let go of Jolyne who couldn't quite take her own hands off of her, clinging a little bit longer.
"Don't you know this, Ms. Jolyne? When human women die in the ocean, they relive as our kind."
"What? Really?" Jolyne let the mermaid get away slowly, ready to swim off to some unknown destination.
"If you want to see me again," Y/N called out cutely, waving her webbed hand like the very first time she saw Jolyne surfing, "Then perish in the ocean!"
She grinned, diving into the deep blue and splashing her tall tail strongly, giving herself a boost of speed, and disappearing away.
Jolyne could only stare into the horizon, darkening as the night arrived, stunned into place.
"...Ok, that was metal as fuck..."

Bright and golden future awaited
While still preparing for the release of tsod I ended up finding a writing exercise I did with the harbor scene on the first fb. This is my favorite newtina scene, cause it is so cute. Basically it's the scene as I envision it happening in a book. Sorry for any mistakes.
The boarding platform was crowded. People coming and going from the imposing ships aground now, formerly leaving or arriving. Despite all the noises that formed animated or melancholy conversations, the shuffling of belongings and the jingling of bells, you could hear the birds chirping through the warm December sky, as if breaking on the metal hooves and rocks of what was left of the beach. The weather was too muggy, the sea breeze accentuating the pungent smell of dead fish and urbanization along the entire length of the bay.
In the distance, two tall, burly figures squeezed through the bustling crowd toward the docks. At first common as anyone there, a similar goal was to get to the city or leave it, but to call them common would be an insult to their magical nature.
Newt, a honey-haired guy with very sweet green eyes and freckles all over his face, walked a little bewildered, his Hufflepuff scarf hanging off one side of his neck over a shabby, faded blue overcoat, already in its last times of use. His well-known briefcase was tightly tied with a rope, trying to cover up the defect in the clasp. When he got home, he'd fix it if he didn't do it during that damn trip.
No one was in the mood for trouble with their creatures again. Not even him. He admitted that he really needed a vacation.
Tina, a tall, skinny witch, walked beside him, half to certify his departure from New York, half to say goodbye. Picquery had made it very clear that he wanted him on the first ship to London that weekend. She walked two steps behind the wizard, anxious and with a heavy heart, her hand unconsciously reaching for his, as a kind of test that this was really real. They weren't necessarily close or touching, but the environment and perhaps the weather bothered them. Something different hovered persistently between the two.It was enough for a while,
I guess, Tina thought, trying to shake off the feeling of emptiness and loss.
She wore a long black striped coat, slightly larger than she was, a long gray pleated skirt, long gray socks, and a white silk shirt that fell like a feather over her slender body. Her dark curls were loose and untamed, reflecting her restless state of mind.
When they were in a place close to the bow and away from the hustle, they both stared at each other for what seemed a long time. An awkward silence settled. Things left unsaid, feelings misinterpreted, tension and some near-deaths. Maybe that would be the last time they saw each other. The incident at the bank then seemed distant. Things were going perfectly on the docks, around them. The flow in the harbor continued the same, and in the midst of all that running and screaming, nervous giggles were exchanged between the two, nothing very concrete seeming to want to come out of their mouths.
“Well, it’s been…” He began, a smile playing on his lips, but her laugh dispelled any joke he'd intended to make. It was the most enchanting sound Newt had ever heard.
“Hasn’t  it!” She interrupted him like she always did when she thought he was a complete idiot, a note of horror creeping into her voice.
Looking up to see her, the words escaped Newt as he looked at her expression again, this time one of anxiety and confusion. It was adorable. She had a lovely smile. She was adorable.
Newt wondered if anyone had ever said, or at least noticed, such a fact, but then stifled the thought. Tina was beautiful and while she wanted everyone to know that, the idea of someone else appreciating her, as he sometimes did for no reason at all, killed him.
“Listen, Newt, I wanted to thank you.” She said, pulling him out of the numbness. This was getting weird.
“What on earth for?” There he was, like that again, sailing miles away, and abruptly remembering where he truly was.
“Well, you know, if you hadn’t said all those nice things about me to Madam Picquery about me” She paused for a moment to take a breath and appreciate the news. “I wouldn't be back on the investigative team now.”
She would never be able to express the gratitude that radiated from her in words. Goodbye basement. Newt had saved her from dying, started a new chapter between them, and now he was almost screaming at that town, that she was more than enough. Fuck. She could hug him. But despite all that familiarity between them, it still sounded strange and intrusive.
She had spent her entire life wanting to prove her ability to others. How she could do the same thing as any of her peers, and maybe even better than them. She hated the old feeling of feeling left out, of feeling awkward being herself, when there shouldn't be anything wrong with that. Her job, and now Newt, caused all these feelings of inclusion. She no longer felt alone as she had at so many other times in her life.
“I'll look out for it. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” She smiled. Tina would gladly read it, it wasn't because it was his. She liked to read to distract herself from the chaotic world she lived in. Books could be a refuge for dark and chaotic times, where all she wanted was to spend the day lying there crying.
“Well… I can't think of anyone that I'd rather have investigating me.”
It wasn't exactly what he intended, but it was too late. Newt could still remember the feeling of being placed against the cold wall of that dark alley. Embarrassed, he lowered his gaze. But it was done and Tina was smiling broadly.
“Well, try not to need investigated for a bit” she said, putting her hands in her pockets, to avoid stroking those honey-colored curls, a playful air of superiority on her face.
The joke calmed the nerves a little. It was quite true, she didn't want him to be subpoenaed for anything. But he was her criminal, after all. She would be an outlaw for him. Tina felt her eyes sting and prayed to the gods that Newt wasn't noticing her incessant blinking.
“I will. Quiet life for me from now on… back to the Ministry…” The mention of her return was not welcomed, not even by him, much less by her who wrinkled her nose and lowered her gaze. “deliver my manuscript…” she continued, trying to rouse something. A smile, anything...
It was a very funny and flowery title, which she took from her, in an attempt at a joke, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth, he just knew that this was the one chosen. A pang of pride in that went through her.
An extermination guide. Tina almost laughed at the memory of it. The sweet but voracious looks from the Nifflers, to the string she wore, Frank the Thunderbird…
Tina remembered well that cold, chaotic morning when they'd first met. Stupid questions, and a look at his file on her desk that had arrived the morning before. She'd filled out that file about him and what happened at the bank more out of fun and curiosity than really some silly protocol from that section of Congress. And also not to look like a loser. This never. All those trips… she realized with a little envy. She wanted that freedom. She was a failure in a lukewarm, salt-free life. Too impulsive and tolerant.
She was still ashamed of what she'd done to him, and she didn't quite understand why Newt had given her that damned vote of confidence. She remembered the feel of the incomplete, yellowed manuscript in her trembling hands. If things got out of hand, she should take care of his creatures. The thought raised the hairs on the back of her neck. He was there, about to leave, safe and sound.
Something motivated her to follow him that night. It was natural. Tina only realized what she had done, as she Apparated next to the car he was hiding in and faced him. A lightness in her chest, a look of gratitude for the trust given her. But it was more than that. A pang in the heart, apprehension that Newt was going to screw up. If something happened to him, it would have to happen to her too.
Tears started running down her face.
Merlin, was she really feeling his departure? Her gaze seemed to say that she seemed to care about him more than she appeared, that she would miss him. That explained her bad mood in the morning, and her rudeness to her sister, which he overheard just before entering the dining room for breakfast. Newt gave a sad smile.
Tina was starting to make things difficult, as she always had since they'd met. When she returned, he would be holed up in that dark room she called her office. She would have to deal with her brother, making him hell to be more sociable, more presentable, to live something he didn't want, to deal with situations he didn't want either. He could stay a few more days, he could get to know her better. Or take it with you on a vacation trip.
Newt was definitely starting to not think clearly.
It was just a few days. Some long days. Enough to heal things in him that he didn't even know were still exposed until he met her. It was even funny since they were always falling out and disdaining each other, but Tina had been the first person in a long time who really wanted to listen to him.
Tina's hands were sweaty. A recurring thought. She tried to push him away by looking at Newt in an attempt to look for some sign to proceed. He had taken an interest in her, after all, hadn't he? That look, that concern, must have meant something. Did Newt feel that way too, invaded, euphoric, changed?
“Does Leta Lestrange like to read?” she asked eagerly, and curious for his reaction.
“Who?” Amazement ran down his spine.
Newt didn't expect that name. Much less coming from her mouth. Leta was in the past, and she was there in front of him. He would have shaken her, if that hadn't sounded strange even to him. She was wasting the moment on something he wanted and she should just forget about it.
Newt then realized. Tina had overheard his and Queenie's conversation that afternoon. She cared.
Tina was now done screwing things up. She couldn't leave the situation like that, him walking away and leaving her. She could find someone else. If he'd seen what an amazing person she was… Someone else would do the same. He was terrified.
“The girl whose picture you carry…” She said, but didn't quite finish the sentence. He knew which photo and which girl they were talking about. Tina didn't mean to sound so cocky. But he had already broken that barrier between them. Why was he so upset?
“I don’t really know what Leta likes these days because people change.”
It had been a long time since he'd seen her. They were still two kids screwing around at school when they talked one last time. Newt didn't blame her for her estrangement. Leta had been the first person not to judge him, the first person who'd had the courage to share more than an ‘I'm fine.’ He thought Leta felt the same way. Maybe she did, but it was just friendship. The years passed and her heart was still a shard. He still remembered her impassive expression.
“Yes.” She nodded. That meant they hadn't seen each other in quite some time. It was a good thing but... Did he still like her?
Recent events have bathed his mind. He had a realization. Tina. Her nosy, dry way. That familiarity and uncomfortable feeling. Maybe his heart wasn't so shattered after all.
But a euphoric start was no reason to be bold. And even if Tina cared and was starting to like him, maybe it wasn't the way he felt about her. Newt couldn't spoil that.
“I’ve changed. I think. Maybe a little” Newt replied more to himself than to her, his voice almost fading.
A sense of relief washed over her. Had that meant a maybe? Tina was delighted to hear all this, but she didn't know how to express it. He feels the same. She tried hard not to continue crying.
The ship's horn sounded – by then most of the passengers had already boarded. They got a real fright. There were only them there.
As quickly as the feeling of understanding came, it was gone. That meant goodbye. Maybe not a final one, but a goodbye. This time it was inevitable. Tina allowed herself to cry and laugh at the same time, sniffling and all. She felt good, and not the slightest bit embarrassed by this demonstration that she cared.
Newt stared. Even crying, Tina was beautiful. A sudden urge to clean it up with her ran through Newt's hands. But he suppressed the urge, squeezing his suitcase violently on one side, and his fist. He didn't want her to be crying because of her, so he said something he should have said a long time ago.
“I’ll send you a copy of my book, if I may”
The witch rubbed her face on her coat.
“I’d like that”
Tears started streaming down his face as well, and Newt made no effort to stop them.
Looking at her one last time with awkwardly affection, Newt noticed that part of her hair, rumpled by the mop on her coat, covered her face. This time he didn't stop the impulse that took him, even though he was terrified of her reaction, and gently, he reached out and brushed the lock behind his ear. A citrusy floral scent invaded his nose. Orange flower. Something good. It suited her.
Dwelling there for a moment, some sort of static uniting them, or agreement that they could proceed, they stared at each other. Her eyes were the most beautiful thing he had ever witnessed in his entire life. Newt might have been exaggerating a little, but at the moment he didn't feel like it.
One last look was exchanged, and suddenly he pulled away, lowering his gaze, reflecting on what he'd just done, his hands slipping inside his coat, leaving Tina standing there, reaching up to touch his hair, where it had been caressed by Newt.
Newt ended up turning this time towards the bow of the ship. He had really done that, and he didn't regret it. But then, a thought set his body toward her again. It was always like that. She was sniffling, and was running her fingers where he had touched her.
“I’m so sorry” That excuse was really necessary. Why hadn't I thought of that before? “how would you feel if I gave you your copy in person?” His voice carried expectations.
The fear of Tina finding him bold, and all his certainties that they were just his fantasies flooded him. But that didn't make much sense. If she really thought he was cheeky she would have slammed her hand down on him moments earlier. He wouldn't be surprised if he left New York with a black eye. But then her face, somewhat dumbfounded, lit up all over and her tears stopped altogether.
“I’d like that” Shit, didn't that man never stop impressing her? How she wanted this. Maybe the hope of seeing him again made her crazy. “very much”
Her answer filled him with ego. The prospect of seeing her again and having more moments like that flooded him with a smug smile. The smile continued, but this time they were interrupted by the man checking the passengers' entrance, cursing them. Newt needed to go. London awaited him. Tina imagined what it would be like to live in that city, and she could almost feel the crowds in the streets, the smell of smog and the damp weather.
Walking with fast, heavy and constant steps, so as not to risk staying or pushing her down the suitcase, he was soon on the gangplank.
She could hardly believe everything that had happened in the last thirty minutes. He'd gotten the smile of the girl he was starting to like, he'd bring her a copy of her book personally, and he'd still enjoy her company, at the risk of hugging her and not letting go. It’s funny, because Tina was the first person he'd actually wanted to hug out of his own free will. And the best for sure, was the fact that she was starting to take him seriously and seemed to start to like him too. A bright and golden future awaited them.
As he walked, Newt made a mental note of Tina's face. He would draw on charcoal when he was alone in his cabin. Dark and beautiful eyes, a debauched and superior air, a thin but well defined mouth. He paused one last time, perhaps not knowing what to do next. It had been quite a day.
He had stopped and seemed lost in thought. She laughed. When had she started giggling like a high school girl? He was cute, and he left her in a sweet way. It was always so frowned and few words. Maybe it was his way of defending herself from the world, but she liked that Tina. She was still strong, and fearless, with her dirty jokes and all, but sweet.
She may have changed a little and still didn't know how to classify these changes and their impacts, but she knew in her heart that they were all good. She felt truly happy, and excited. Euphoric even. She wouldn't know for sure when it all started, but the change was there, clear and fluid.
Seeing that he was being watched, he proceeded inside, leaving her alone there. She looked around one last time, picking up anything from that morning. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. As she opened them, she sighed happily at all those little accomplishments. She had never given much thought to having a long-term relationship. Kisses here and there, and meetings to pass the time were enough, until met him. He would come to see her, and he would give a little piece of his life to her, leaving her wanting more and more. Turning towards civility, she hopped off, humming and blushing all the way home.

Flying On Wings Made From Feathers And Wax | Ganondorf x Gerudo!oc chapter 2
Part one | Part two | Part three
Growing up in the Gerudo Desert is hard.
The sun is merciless, especially to the small. For someone like Ilula, it is draining, seemingly determined to exhaust her as it beats down on her during the day. It will never stop doing so, but at a young age, she learned how to deal with it.
The others called her lazy, but she considered herself clever. Just like the lizards that liked to snooze while they sunned themselves, she took naps during the day. It wasn’t that the other Gerudo didn’t—naps were almost a necessity in such a hot environment, and it was common to see be back in an hour signs hanging on merchant stalls—but Ilula simply napped more than the rest of them.
It concerned her mother greatly.
Kiluki took her daughter to the best healer in town, the one who looked after the chief and royal family, hoping to find answers about Ilula’s small stature. Just like the Hylian healers, though, this one declared that Ilula was, for the most part, fine, she was just...small. Small, and a bit weak. For Kiluki, a tall, strong vai, who had once been a member of the Chief’s guard, Ilula’s relatively tiny stature and shortcomings were cause for major concern; she knew that many Gerudo never joined the guard, and to keep Gerudo Town running, they needed all sorts. But she wanted Ilula to follow in her footsteps, to become stronger and braver than even she, and Kiluki feared that it was a dream that could never be.
Ilula knew that her mother worked, but what could she possibly do about it? It wasn’t anything that she could control. She spent her days playing or helping Uvira sell her produce while her mother advised the Chief, trying to forget the way that she couldn’t reach things the other girls could. As she grew older, it became obvious that she would never hit a growth spurt, and while Ganondorf shot up like a weed, Ilula stayed at least a head shorter than the others her age.
“C’mon, pipsqueak!” Ganondorf scooped her up one day, interrupting her midday nap.
“Gan!” She yelped in surprise as he threw her over his shoulder. “Put me down!”
“Not a chance,” the prince grinned as he ran towards the palace. “I’ve been looking all over for you. I’ve got something to show you.”
Even at twelve years old, Ganondorf could carry her easily. He spent his days studying and training, his mother keeping a watchful eye over him and ensuring that her son would become strong and capable. While Ilula had already finished most of her schooling, knowing how to read and write and do simple math, the prince had many years of studies still ahead of him, his chambers lined with shelves full of thick books. Being royalty meant that he needed to know everything about the world, and he enjoyed reading about Hyrule and its politics and history. Ilula didn’t share quite as much appreciation for the Hylian kingdom neighboring the desert, but whenever he was reading, she had a chance to take a nice nap in his incredibly soft bed, and that was something she could absolutely appreciate.
“It better not be stupid,” she grumbled with a yawn. “Interrupting me on my day off…”
“Day off from what?” He snorted. “You can’t even start real training until you’re twelve. That’s a whole month away.”
“So?” She argued.
“So you can’t possibly be too busy for me,” he rolled his eyes. “Sav’aaq!” He called to the guards at the top of the steps as he passed them.
“Sav’aaq, my prince!” They snapped to attention, bowing their heads. “Ilula, sav’aaq.”
“Sav’aaq,” Ilula mumbled. She was used to the guards keeping watch over her and the prince, and they had all developed a certain fondness for Ganondorf’s runt of a friend.
Ganondorf carried her through the throne room, past the chief and her advisors as they pored over a map of Hyrule. They bowed to him as he walked by and he grunted in acknowledgement, too focused on his task to stop and ask what they were doing.
They allowed him to rush by without interruption. He only had a few years of childhood left before the burdens of leadership would fall on his shoulders, and his mother wished that he enjoyed his time as much as he could. He was growing into a fine young voe, the Sheikah prophecy a distant memory now, and As any voe, he should be enjoying the years of his youth as much as possible.
When he reached his chambers, he threw Ilula down onto his bed. She laughed as she bounced, sitting up to look at him as he grabbed a wooden box from his desk.
“Here,” he said, slightly out of breath as he pushed it into her hands.
She took it, hearing something rattle inside. “What is it?”
“Just open it!”
With an inquisitive glance up at him, she slid the lid off the box. Inside, something was glimmering, reflecting the light of the desert sun that streamed in through the windows. As Ilula reached inside, she picked up a set of earrings, a teardrop-shaped sapphire hanging from each hook.
“Oh, Gan,” she breathed, holding the jewelry in her palm as she stared down at it, “these are beautiful…”
He was watching her anxiously. “Do you like them?”
“I do!” She looked up at him with a wide smile.
The prince let out the breath he had been holding, relieved. “Oh, good.”
“Did you have these made?” Ilula asked, peering closely at the stones.
“I did,” he smiled. “Just for you. Well, actually, they were going to be a birthday present, but Amira finished them early. I couldn’t hold my tongue for an entire month.”
“This is the best early birthday present I’ve ever gotten,” she beamed up at him. “Thank you, Gan.”
“Oh, they’re not a birthday gift anymore,” he laughed. “I figured out something else for your birthday. These are just normal gifts now.”
Ilula raised an eyebrow. “You really shouldn’t be spending so much time spoiling me, you know…”
“Or what?” He laughed. “You’re my best friend, Lula. You deserve gifts.”
“Well, it’s not like I’m not going to accept them,” she grinned at him as she stood and walked to the mirror on the wall.
“I put a spell on them.” he blurted out. “To help you stay cool in the sun. Sapphires are good for that.”
She glanced back at him. “Really?”
“Yeah,” he nodded. “I had the jeweler make them and then I enchanted them. I’m supposed to be practicing, and I wanted to try it out…”
“I can’t believe you know magic,” Ilula said as she faced her reflection. “I wish I could put spells on things.”
“It’s not that big a deal,” he shrugged.
“Shut up,” she laughed. “It’s a super big deal!”
He watched with a serene smile on his face as she took out the big gold hoops she was wearing and replaced them with her new earrings. Just as he had hoped, the bright blue sapphires contrasted perfectly with her fiery red hair…though the thick green band she used to keep it up off of her shoulders didn’t match at all. He made a mental note to add a new, nicer one to the small pile of birthday gifts he would be giving her in a few weeks.
Ilula admired the way the sapphires hung from her pointed ears. She had to admit…Ganondorf had an eye for jewelry. Maybe it was because he had so much of it himself; as she looked at his reflection behind her, she could count no less than ten incredibly expensive precious stones on his head and arms alone. The perks of being a prince, she supposed.
When he noticed her watching her, he suddenly shuffled his feet awkwardly, glancing away for a moment before looking down at his hands.
“I’m, uh…glad you like them.” He mumbled.
“Gan, don’t be sheepish,” Ilula laughed, turning to face him.
He looked up at her, hoping that she couldn’t see the blush on his face. She was the only person who ever made his skin heat up like that, the only Gerudo he ever wanted to be around, the only vai whose hand he wanted to hold. It confused him, the way he felt about his best friend, but he was headstrong and determined not to shy away from whatever he was beginning to feel.
“I’ve never seen a sheep,” he chuckled. “What does sheepish mean?”
Ilula’s laughter grew louder as she plopped down on the edge of his bed and looked up at him. “They’re soft. Hylians cut their hair and make things with it. They look like fluffy little clouds with legs.”
Ganondorf grinned. “I can’t wait until I’m king and I can see all of Hyrule. I want to go to the castle, see the Hylians.”
“It’s a long walk,” Ilula said. “…well, Mama carried me most of the way, I think. I don’t really remember much of it. I know it rained a lot before we got to the outskirts, though.”
Ganondorf suddenly sighed and turned to the window. He walked towards it, placing his hands on the cool sandstone and leaning on them as he looked out over Gerudo Town and the wide, flat desert outside the gates.
“What is it like there?” He asked, gazing towards the distant mountains that marked the Gerudo Highlands and the edge of Hyrule.
Ilula frowned at his change in demeanor and stood to join him. “It’s…green. Everything is green, and you can smell all the plants. And there’s so much water, everywhere…when it rains, it isn’t like here. It just rains for a few hours, and then the sky clears up again, and the birds come back out.”
“It sounds…nice.” He admitted.
“It is,” she agreed. “You can just lean down and drink out of a stream if you’re thirsty. And if you’re hungry, there are apple trees all over! And fish in the rivers, and boar in the woods…”
“I like boar,” Ganondorf laughed.
“Yeah, they taste pretty good, I guess. When you add enough spices.” Ilula shrugged.
“No, not to eat!” He looked at her like she was crazy. “I like the way they look. Those big tusks…there are drawings of them in some of my books. I’ve always liked them.”
“Yeah, I guess they’re pretty cool.” Ilula giggled. “There are lots of other animals, too.”
“Life there must be easy.” He commented. “The Hylians have it all.”
“What do you mean?” Ilula frowned. “I thought you liked the desert.”
“I do, I just…wish we had things like grass and trees and forests. I wish we lived more comfortably.”
“You live very comfortably.” Ilula snorted.
“What do you mean?” He looked down at her, nose wrinkled slightly.
“Uh, all of this?” She gestures to the room around them. “The palace? You’re royalty. You hardly have to worry.”
“I have to think about our people!” He argued. “What’s Castle Town like?”
“Busy and big.” Ilula shrugged. “The streets are all made of stone, and there’s a big market where people from all over sell things. Mama didn’t let me go there very much, because of the way the Hylians are sometimes.”
Ganondorf looked down at her in surprise. “What do you mean?”
“They don’t really…trust Gerudo that much.” She folded her arms, hugging herself lightly. “They don’t treat the Rito or the Zora like Hylians, either, but they like them more than they like us.”
As Ganondorf listened, he considered her words. “I’m going to change that.”
“You’re going to change how they think?” She asked skeptically.
“I’m going to show them that they should respect us.” He said.
“How?”
“Maybe I’ll…send them aid, if they have a natural disaster.” He thought out loud. “Or take a big delegation to visit the castle, or invite them here.”
“The king can’t enter Gerudo Town,” Ilula laughed. “You’re the only voe allowed. Remember, you spoiled prince?”
“Oh. Right.” He chuckled. “Well, I’m going to be in charge someday. I’ll have to figure out this whole diplomacy thing.”
Ilula smiled softly as she looked up at him. “I’m sure you’ll be good at it.”
He grinned down at her. “Only if you help me.”
She returned the grin. “Deal.”
“I don’t think I could handle the throne without you,” he bumped her with his shoulder, nearly throwing her into the wall. “I still have so much I have to learn.”
Ilula stumbled, but she didn’t fall like the last few times he had forgotten how big he was. “That’s why kings always have advisors. Nobody can run everything by themselves.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” He sighed, his attention returning to the world outside his window. “I’ve got six whole years to figure it out, though.”
“Yeah, and it’ll be fine.” She tried to bump her shoulder into his arm with the same force that he had, but he didn’t budge. “Hey, seriously, are you made of rock?”
He barked a laugh. “No, I’m just bigger than you!”
“Well stop it!” She snapped, only half serious. “If you keep this up, you’re not even going to be able to see me!”
“Maybe you should just start catching up!” He retorted.
“I would if I could.” She rolled her eyes. “My mom keeps making me go to the healers to figure out why I’m so short. I keep trying to tell her that it’s not that big a deal, but she won’t listen.”
As she spoke, her tone grew more serious, until it had Ganondorf frowning. “You’re fine.”
“That’s what I keep saying, but it doesn’t matter.” Ilula sighed. “She’s always worrying that I’m going to get hurt because I’m fragile. I always tell her that I’m not, and I know I’m not because you’re always throwing me down off the walls or into the aqueducts or whatever, but she just always gets mad and tells me to be more careful.”
“Do I ever hurt you?” Ganondorf asked, his eyes wide in alarm.
“No, you don’t,” Ilula shook her head. “I’m serious, I’m not that fragile, but all she ever sees is me lagging behind everyone else. That’s why I want to start training with the guards, so I can show her that I’m fine.”
He narrowed his eyes slightly. “You know, if you start training, you’ll be busy all the time…”
“Gan, they train literally right outside your window.” She rolled her eyes. “You won’t miss me. I’ll be right there.”
“…oh. Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“But I bet my mom is going to be all worried about me training, too.” She sighed. “Until i show her that I’m not some fragile little flower. You know, back in Castle Town, I was always the biggest kid. She didn’t worry as much back then.”
“Do you ever miss it there?” Ganondorf asked, studying her face.
“Sometimes. I miss everything I could get at the market, and I do miss my father. But…I didn’t fit in there. I guess I don’t really fit in here, either.”
“Yes you do.” He nudged her with his elbow, gentler this time. “You’re Gerudo. You belong here, with your people. With me.”
Ilula smiled up at him. “I know, Gan. I think it’s less about the place, and more about who’s there. You know?”
He looked down at her, his heart fluttering in a way he wasn’t used to. “Yeah. I know.”
000
On Ilula’s twelfth birthday, she woke to the smell of meat cooking over the fire. As soon as her eyes were open, she remembered what day it was, and she shot out of bed to investigate the main room of the home she and her mother shared.
“Sav’otta, my little desert flower,” Auntie Uvira greeted her as she prepared breakfast over the small wok in the middle of the room. “Sleep well?”
“Fine,” Ilula shrugged. “Where’s Mom?”
“Right here,” Kiluki appeared in the doorway, a parcel in her hands.
Ilula eyed it. “Sav’otta, Mama.”
“Sav’otta, Ilula,” Kiluki smiled, holding the parcel out towards her. “Happy birthday.”
Ilula lunged for it excitedly, tearing the wrappings open while Uvira yelled at her to be mindful of the fire.
As the brown paper fell away, airy pink fabric was revealed, and Ilula pulled out a bandeau top. Matching pants were next, made of a thin, breathable weave, and as she rushed back to her room to try the new outfit on, Kiluki smiled.
“How do I look?” Ilula asked breathlessly when she returned, holding her arms out as she spun around to show it off.
“Oh, it’s stunning!” Uvira clapped.
“I think it suits you perfectly,” Kiluki nodded. “How is the fit?”
“I think it’s good. What’s for breakfast?” Ilula was buzzing with energy, bouncing over to look at what Uvira was cooking.
“This is for later,” her aunt laughed as she sprinkled in some Goron spices.
“We will be eating breakfast at the palace,” Kiluki informed her daughter. “That’s why I wanted to give you that gift first thing in the morning. You should look your best.”
Ilula grinned. Eating at the palace meant getting to see Ganondorf, and as she rushed to get ready, she wondered what sort of gifts he had in store for her.
She found out soon after she walked through the impressive archway and approached the throne. The chief sat with her hands on its armrests, her back straight as she looked down at Ilula and Kiluki.
“The prince and queen mother are awaiting your arrival, Ilula,” she said, her voice firm and strong. “I would not keep them waiting. Kiluki, if I could have a quick word.”
Ilula glanced up at her mother in confusion, but when Kiluki waved her off, she was eager to run towards the dining hall. It was her birthday, after all, and she wasn’t going to allow herself to worry about anything. Whatever the chief wanted wasn’t of her concern, and when she saw Ganondorf waiting for her with a pile of gifts, any and all thoughts about what her mother could possibly be needed for flew out the window.
“Happy birthday, Ilula,” Ganondorf’s mother, Mira, said, a smile on her face as she watched her son shove a box into Ilula’s arms.
The Gerudo royal family spared no expense. Ganondorf had given her a sapphire necklace, one that matched the earrings, and a ruby wrist cuff that he said would keep her warm at night when the desert winds pierced Gerudo Town. His eyes lit up at the sight of her happiness, and though he had certainly given her birthday gifts before, he was especially glad to see that all of his hard work and pondering over what to get had all paid off this year. He gave her a new sirwal, the light, baggy pair of pants a bright white with golden accents threaded throughout. Then came an assortment of her favorite candied fruits, a beautiful sand sealskin journal, and the biggest breakfast feast she had ever seen.
By the time the unwrapping was finished, the table was covered in a plethora of delicacies. Everything from platters of sliced hydromelons, to gourmet meats hunted in the highlands, to rare seafood brought all the way from the coast, was piled up and presented to Ilula. It was a lavish celebration, the kind usually reserved for holidays or royal birthdays, and with Kiluki returning from the throne room to partake, the festivities were finally truly underway.
The adults drank as the children laughed and played. They were nearly too old to be doing so, both nearing the age at which they would begin training for adulthood, and one last romp before it all started seemed to be in order. The day was full of merriment and their spirits were high, and as the two tore out of the palace to get themselves into trouble elsewhere, Mira turned to Kiluki with a sigh.
“He will be devastated,” she said.
“As will she.” Kiluki raised her cup to her lips and drank.
“How long do you have?”
“I do not know.” Kiluki lifted her eyes. “Ryla did not say…all I know is that we are to return to Castle Town when she deems fit.”
“Why is she sending both of you?” Mira asked. “I hardly see the sense in taking Ilula away from her training.”
“I believe she wants us to keep up appearances.” Kiluki sighed. “Perhaps by the two of us seeming to return home, the Hylians will be less on edge.”
“Still…” Mira sighed again. “I am sure we will all be focused on our tasks, but your absence will be hard.”
“I only wish I knew when we would be leaving.” Kiluki frowned. “Ryla told me that it could be tomorrow, or in five years.”
“And I don’t suppose you’ll be allowed to visit home…”
“I doubt it.”
“Not even if Ganondorf requests it?”
Kiluki pursed her lips. “Perhaps after he takes the throne, he will summon us back to Gerudo Town. I should hope he will see the value in placing me amongst the Hylians, though, and so close to the royal family…”
“Like a spitting sand cobra, nestled right within their own walls,” Mira chuckled. “You must do your job well, for Ryla to send you back again.”
“Yes, I suppose I must. Though it was easier back then.”
“Will you return to that voe?”
Kiluki wrinkled her nose. “Perhaps, if he is willing to see reason.”
“What did you even fight about?”
“Everything.” She shrugged. “Hylian voe have a single use. The rest of the time, they are wholly disagreeable.”
Mira threw her head back and laughed, the hearty sound echoing off the sandstone walls. “That they are! That they most certainly are.”

In storm-black mountains, I wander alone
Over the glacier I make my way
In the apple garden stands the maiden fair and sings,
"When will you come home?"
Loki had to stop, overwhelmed by emotion.
Sylvie, her eyes devoid of all mockery, said softly, "So there is a would-be-princess somewhere..."
Loki chuckled sadly before replying, "I like metaphors you know, in this instance, it's not a princess, it's a prince, and I don't know if he's waiting for me or hoping to see me again, it's not even really my home, but..."
"...but you'd like to believe it, right?"
Loki could only nod.
"Show me your prince."
"No way," Loki replied, shaking his head.
"Come on, please Loki!" she paused before continuing, "If you show it to me I'll tell you in detail how I enchant people!
Loki couldn't resist, so he turned his hand and there appeared a mini hologram of Mobius.
Sylvie approached and looked at him closely before sitting down again.
Loki made Mobius disappear.
"Don't tell me that that little man with no stature, no class is YOUR prince?!"
Loki wished he had his brother's hammer to blast her with lightning bolts.
"Yes this is my prince! And your impudence has earned you a lecture on the definition of Prince Charming by Professor Loki!"
Sylvie snorted and told the passing maid to bring her a glass of champagne, because finally she was going to need it.
"First of all, you should know that the charming prince doesn't exist only in fairy tales.
In real life, he is not perfect but he has many qualities that are essential to be wonderful. Is Mobius my Prince Charming?" He didn't wait for an answer.
"To find out, I'll show you point by point that he meets all the criteria that make him a prince for me."
Sylvie settled back in her chair to enjoy the show.
"First, the Prince Charming is generous. He is generous in every sense of the word. He doesn't hesitate to invite you to an excellent restaurant and to offer you a gift you've been dreaming of. Ok, ok, I agree, I didn't have time to fully test that point. But that's not all! He is also generous in giving you all the time you need. He is also able to have an attention that will brighten your day. And Mobius devoted an enormous amount of time to me, when nothing required him to."
Loki thought back to the time Mobius had spent with him just before they left for the mission. He had taken the time to show Loki that he wasn't the villain he thought he was. Nothing forced him to.It wasn't necessary for the mission. In a place where everything was about time, Mobius hadn't hesitated to give him time.
Sylvie simply nodded and waved her hand impatiently for Loki to continue his «  lecture."
He took a sip, cleared his throat and continued.
"Second, the Prince Charming committed. He knows what he wants. He gets up every morning knowing exactly where he is going and what he wants to do. He is also resolute, he has goals in life and intends to achieve them. What is touching is that he is not bragging. Humility is his middle name. Quite my Mobius."
Sylvie noted, fondly, the possessive pronoun, but said nothing.
"Even though he pisses me off, because he is narrow-minded about the TVA,  what he thinks is real. Nevertheless, he still manages to impress me because he believes that what he does is his reality and that he does it for a better world, he does it with all his heart. And when he talks about it there is so much candor that even I have a hard time getting him to see the reality of things."
Loki remembered their discussion in the cafeteria.
Loki had asked him completely sincerely, because he wanted to know what made Mobius go on, "I mean, you really believe in all this stuff, don't you?"
Mobius had replied simply, "I don't get hung up on, 'Believe, not believe.' I just accept what is."
Loki had tried to show him the absurdity of a world ruled by the 3 time keepers and Mobius had replied by telling him that his story, Asgard, mystical realm, beyond the stars, Frost Giants was the same thing.
He remembered Mobius' words perfectly, "Actually it's exactly the same thing. Because if you think too hard about where any of us came from, who we truly are, it sounds kinda ridiculous. Existence is chaos. Nothing makes any sense, so we try to make some sense of it. And I'm just lucky that the chaos I emerged into gave me all this... My own glorious purpose."
Loki had chuckled, to hide the fact that he was disturbed by the accuracy of Mobius' argument.
Mobius concluded by saying, determined, "Cause the TVA is my life. And it's real because I believe it's real."
Committed, yes, his prince was. Loki realized that he missed their discussion. Rarely had he met someone who could resist him intellectually.
"Hey! Loki! Are you there? "Sylvie was waving her hand, seeing that he was lost in his thoughts.
Loki regained his composure and moved on to his next point.
"Third, the Prince Charming for me must be smart but not pretentious, yes because there can only be one pretentious and that is me of course. Who wouldn't want a smart, educated man? Mobius is extremely smart! Can you believe that he knows hundreds of languages more than I do because he has been working in the multiverse for so long! And best of all, when I tried to manipulate him on my first consulting assignment, he figured me out. He almost knew right away that I was trying to play for my own side. Okay, it's a little humiliating. But that's the charm of him."
If Loki was honest, that was when he started to fall under Mobius' spell.
He had been so sure that he could get what he wanted from him. He was sure he had hooked the fish and then Mobius had blurted out, "He's lying. Just playing games. There's no one out there."
Loki blushed slightly as he thought about how he had been found out by Mobius at that moment. That's when his interest had been piqued, because Loki couldn't resist a challenge.
"You know Loki, it's almost cute how you have it bad."
"There's nothing funny about that." retorted Loki before resuming, "Fourth, my prince is someone I can lean on. He is a pillar on which you can rest. Imagine, Sylvie, we were working at the same desk and I fell asleep. And on top of that he let me sleep. You know he has this quiet strength. That thing that makes me know that with him I don't have to pretend anymore. But anyway, I was talking about Mobius, not me."
Sylvie moved closer to Loki and said with a smile, "From my point of view it's the same thing."
"What?"
"Nothing, go on."
Loki looked at her strangely before continuing.
"Fifth, my prince is listening. You know I talk a lot and three quarters of the time to say nothing important. But Mobius, even if I tell him something stupid, he listens to me as if it were the most important thing in the world. And most importantly, he really hears me. He can read between my lines and my metaphors, which he also loves. He's much better at getting people to talk than I am. He was able to see and make me say things about myself that no one had heard before. Sometimes I feel like he's the only one who knows who I really am."
Loki had to stop because the scene was still so present in his mind.
"I can't go back, can I? Back to my timeline. I don't enjoy hurting people. I... I don't enjoy it. I do it because I have to, because I've had to."
Mobius' tone, his look, his whole being turned toward Loki when he had said just that, "Okay, explain that to me.
Then Loki told him that he knew he was a villain.
Mobius' simple but straightforward answer was, "That's not how I see it."
"Hey Loki? You okay?" Sylvie had put her hand on his arm, looking concerned.
Loki pulled himself together.
"Yeah I'm fine."
He coughed and continued, "My Prince Mobius has an incredible number of qualities but I've summarized them for you because we don't have enough time. So I'm going to conclude this lesson by telling you that the quality that attracts me most to him is that he's surprising. He surprises me all the time. Which is paradoxical after all, I am supposed to be chaos and he is supposed to be order. But he surprises me. Where everyone else hates me, he is there and sees qualities in me that even I don't see. When everyone wants me gone, he doesn't hesitate to put his own head on the line so that I don't get erased. Mobius is not perfect, but he is perfect for me. Because precisely, he doesn't put me on a pedestal but he doesn't make me feel inferior either. He treats me as an equal."
"Okay, okay, okay, it's fine he's a Prince. But the mustache though..."
Loki looked mischievously at her and leaning in close to her ear, he said softly, "His moustache is very nice when he kisses me."
"Loki!" she moved back and flicked him on the forehead.
He took a sip of champagne and they remained silent for a few moments.
"And you told him all this, well not in so many words of course?"
Loki's smile disappeared.
"Because of you, I didn't have the time. And I hope that all of this won't have ruined this beginning of a relationship.Anyway, I'll tell him when we meet again, or at least I'll try to, as long as he wants to listen to me..."
Sylvie smiled softly, clinked her glass against Loki's and said softly, "You're insufferable to the core, but I sincerely wish you'd have the chance to talk to him. "
Loki nodded, this time he was determined to fight, because for the first time it was his own happiness that depended on it.

@dreamsclock 's winner takes it all au!! couldn't get the thought of the power dynamic that'd be between these three and just how messed up that would be out of my head. dream team my beloved.
no real tws; c!dream's just basically "won" during the disc war finale and is now a dictator and he's v screwed and it sucks. 1,333 words :]
The door creaked open, handle released by rigid gloved fingertips. Dream took a shaky breath upon seeing the living room abandoned, eerily quiet and empty. His steps echoed on the wooden floor, hand suspended above the handle of his sword - plagued by paranoia at the sight of calm, always expecting someone to jump out at him.
It was irrational. It was over. The world was his, and he wanted peace - and yet he was the one with armor, never putting it down, always glinting a sickly purple as a reminder of the power he holds.
It was the only way to be safe. There was hatred in the air as much as terror at his presence - he pretends not to hear the whispers in shadowy alleyways of the home he’s built conspiring to destroy itself from the inside out.
It was fine. He made sure it would be. They would stay fine as long as he was there to make them.
“Who’s there?” a half-hearted question sounded from overhead.
Steps landed on the stairs, the brunette stopping halfway down when his eyes landed on Dream - it was a stark contrast, George unarmed, Dream with a sword hanging sharp from his belt and not an inch of his body unprotected. His posture stiffened, although the other seemed unbothered.
“What do you want?”
It wasn’t accusatory - it was empty, tired. Maybe Dream understood, the procedure of getting the SMP back to its original form was exhausting for everyone, especially when it came to the sieging of items and relocation - but he was still frustrated with the response, and his fists felt twitchy.
The door opened and Dream spun around, alarmed. Sapnap put his hands up, brows furrowing - “I heard the commotion. Should I not have done that?” Dream shook his head, only now realizing he had half taken his sword out of the sheath. “No, no it’s fine.”
Silence bore into their ears, tension thick in the air.
It took Dream a moment to recollect why he had come here, and a while longer to find a way to say it that wouldn’t sound forceful - though that’s difficult when your subjects are standing defenseless, looking at you like a well-eqipped mob. Like the dictator you are.
I’m here to protect you, not hurt you, he wants to say. The universe doesn’t believe him, as it never has. And really, he hadn’t done much to gain their trust.
Pictures remained plastered on the walls of a small room, hidden in the back of the vault - he could return to that, now, knowing that he had it all back. He scanned over his friend’s face, a small smile peeking from under the mask - a gesture, one could say. It wasn’t real, merely a faded hope of a return of the authenticity that had once been present.
They looked different, on the pictures. Perhaps trying to replicate the past is why the present felt more like a shadow than anything.
Dream shuddered, attempting to shake off the heavy thoughts. He can’t despair, because that is when he loses. No second thoughts.
“It’s fine. Do you… would you guys want to go fishing? We can try find some goldfish and - put them in the community house pond.”
There was something short of unsettling that he couldn’t quite comprehend about people you hang onto the memories of being right in front of you, yet completely different. It felt like he had mourned the past a thousand times, but when it stood in front of him, it looked lifeless and faded.
Sapnap took a deep breath, leaning against the side of the doorway. Dream heard George take another step down the staircase - Sapnap nodded to him and approached Dream slowly, like one would a wounded animal, with sour grief in his expression.
“No. I don’t think we do - but since when has that mattered?”
“What do you mean by that?” Dream hissed back defensively, stepping back to glance between the two.
“Don’t play dumb, Dream,” George interrupts from behind, and Dream meets his glare with contempt. “Can’t you at least leave us alone? What more do you want from us?”
Sapnap made a horizontal cutting gesture in front of his neck in Dream’s peripheral vision. George didn’t falter.
Dream didn’t know the answer to that question.
He wanted unity… he wanted a family… he wanted everyone to be happy. He wanted his friends back. What… what did he want from them?
It felt like he’d forgotten, and he pushed the thoughts back with a new wave of anger - it’s what kept him going, it’s what left him at the forefront of people’s minds long after he’d leave, the air of quiet rage that followed after him.
“Fine.” He roughly pushed past Sapnap, who stumbled back and clutched his shoulder, hard metal and enchantments seemingly bruising him as he scowled. “I’m not gonna - I’m not gonna force you to do anything.” After everything that had happened, the words come out empty, but Dream didn’t care - he felt blinded with a strange shade of disgust.
I gave up everything for you, how dare they, a voice inside his head yelled, or did I give them up for everything?
He paused, hand pressing onto the doorframe as his chest lifted slowly - the armor is heavy, so heavy - as if waiting for a goodbye.
Instead he got a last glance at Sapnap sitting on the couch, rubbing his shoulder, hatred emanating from his fiery eyes; “Let me ask you a question,” he pushed out past clenched teeth, “is this what you wanted, Dream?”
He wanted to spit back, YES, he wanted to shout a thousand times over, lying to himself that his certainty comes from belief and not gnawing despair, imagining he achieved restoration while pushing the world around him deeper into the pit he had been falling into;
He shut the door closed behind him so hard splinters flew off the unpolished oak.
“Ungrateful idiots,” he muttered under his breath, and almost ended up pinning someone to the wall with a sword through the chest before he realized the man leaning onto polished stone of the fence had purple particles gently flying around his head and violet eyes watching him with unnerving calm.
He cursed under his breath as he drew back, reflexes faster than his senses and instincts stronger than reasoning.
He was safe. He wasn’t safe. It was like he was supposed to know and believe both at the same time, and it was confusing.
“Just me,” Ranboo said, looking unfazed, though with a closer look at him Dream saw his fingers clenched tightly an pupils widened. Not showing fear was a vital part of his battle training; Dream gave a self-satisfied hum and nodded.
“You look distracted, do you need to talk?” he asked with a smidge of concern. There was something strange about the way he looked at him, Dream just couldn’t place it - he shook his head, looking for a way out, away from people, away from everyone.
He just needed to make sure they were all taken care of. He just needed to make sure to stay on top.
“Can you check them for items today? Punz is in the nether looking for potion ingredients.”
Ranboo stepped away from the wall, stretching his hands up and then letting them fall to his side. “Sure, what about you, though?”
“I…” Dream reached into his pocket, hand grasping around a red, carefully packaged tube, “I need to go check on Tommy. He’s probably been getting lonely.” And what kind of friend does that make me?
“Alright then. Take care,” Ranboo’s voice lowered as he brushed past him towards George and Sapnap’s house, and Dream pulled out the dynamite, rolling it around in his hand as he began making his way towards Pandora’s Vault.
He had to lose everything to gain everything, but only when it was way too late did he realize, that somewhere along the way, everything changed.

Category: Romantic Fluff
Fandom: My Hero Academia
Characters: Izuku Midoriya, Ochako Uraraka
Hey, all! Here’s my story for the Izuku Big Bang! I had the pleasure again of working with my good friend @danyartime, so do be sure to check out her adorable art too!
Izuku bobbed his head to the upbeat poppy tune bumping from the small speakers of his desk radio. Though the volume was low to keep from disturbing his dorm mates, the thumping bass in the background of the happy lyrics vibrated the pencils and pens in the ceramic cup beside it. The little tink-tink-tinks of the writing utensils hitting the side of the cup added pleasant harmony to the song. Izuku hummed along as he scrawled notes into his hero notebook, recalling everything he could from the joint training they’d conducted with Class 1-B that day. Just as he was musing that it may be time for yet another volume of his detailed notes, the song ended abruptly to be replaced by a particularly loud yell from the radio host. Izuku jumped and looked at the radio, turning it up in curiosity.
“Thank you for tuning in this evening, folks! Today we have a very special offer for a lucky listener! Prepare to dial your phones, ‘cuz the tenth caller will win tickets to AKB48’s upcoming concert in Akihabara!” the host announced excitedly. Izuku wasn’t big into girl groups, but he’d often heard his female classmates discussing the idols. They must be really famous! He thought, pulling up his phone and typing up the radio station’s number as the host provided it. “All right, folks! Get ready to hit ‘dial,’ because time… starts… now!”
Izuku waited just a brief second before hitting the dial button and holding the phone up to his ear. He honestly didn’t expect much— there were probably hundreds of people calling in with the hopes of securing the tickets— but he did get a little excited when he wasn’t immediately greeted with a busy signal or a “sorry” message. The phone rang for a second, and then, much to Izuku’s surprise, someone picked up.
“Congratulations, Lucky Number 10! You’ve won yourself two tickets to AKB48’s concert next weekend!”
“R-really?” Izuku stammered in shock, completely floored that a whim of a call had actually won him something. “Oh, wow! Thank you!”
“Thank you for calling in today! What’s your name, Lucky Number 10?”
“I-Izuku!”
“Well, Izuku, we hope you enjoy seeing the dolls of Akihabara in action! Stay on the line so we can provide you with information on how to claim your tickets.” Izuku did as bid while the radio host switched to a private line, playing a song for those who had been unsuccessful in their efforts in claiming the tickets. They gathered his basic information and provided him with the address to the local radio station, stressing that he needed to bring a valid photo identification to verify that it was indeed him and not someone trying to make off with his winnings. They made an appointment to pick up the tickets the following afternoon, since it was too late in the evening for a student to be out and about. After hanging up the phone, Izuku found himself excited to attend the concert despite not really being passionate about the band— new experiences were always thrilling, after all!
Now… The real question is, who should I take with me?
By the time he had retrieved his tickets and returned to the dorm the next day, Izuku didn’t have the answer to that question. He perched on the couch eyeing the two cardstock tickets with a frown, debating who to invite. He didn’t imagine that any of the boys were that into girl groups, so he couldn’t take any of them. On the other hand, all the girls probably liked them in some capacity or another. I want to take the person who would enjoy it the most!, he thought with a sigh, flopping back against the couch as the riddle poisoned him from the inside out.
Just then, he heard Ochako and Kyoka’s voice drifting out of the kitchen. The two girls came shuffling out in their pajamas and fuzzy socks, probably getting ready for their weekly girls’ night as evidenced by the massive bowl of popcorn tucked in Kyoka’s arms. Ochako stared wistfully at her phone, petulant about something.
“Man… I really wish I could go to the performance next weekend, but the tickets are so expensive!” she moped. Izuku perked up, peering over the edge of the couch.
“Ochako, I told you that I would take you if you really want to go,” Kyoka smiled wanly.
“No way!” Ochako refused, shaking her head vigorously. “I could never ask you to spend money like that on me!” She stopped walking to look at Kyoka, then deflated like a balloon and looked back to her phone once more. “All I can do is hope that they’re still performing by the time I’m making money as a professional hero…”
“Hey, Ochako!” Izuku hurriedly piped up as the two girls turned to head upstairs. She whirled around to look at him, eyebrows raised in confusion. Izuku flushed as he sat up on his knees to look over the back of the couch, suddenly aware that it would sound like he was eavesdropping. “I-I couldn’t help but overhear… I, um, I won two tickets to the AKB48 concert next weekend in a radio contest. You’re more than welcome to use the extra ticket and come with me.”
“Oh my gosh, Deku, are you serious?” Ochako screamed and zoomed over to him faster than he’d ever seen anyone move, even Tenya. She grabbed his hands, clasping hers around his with the tickets still clutched in his fist. Her nut-brown eyes sparkled with delight as they bored into his emerald ones, which only made him flush darker. “You really mean it? Oh, thank you, thank you! I’m so excited; they’re my absolute favorite girl group! Oh, I’m so excited!”
Her animated reaction made a smile stretch across his lips and a warm, bubbly feeling rise up in his chest. When she let his hands go to take the ticket, she gazed down at it like it was the most special gift in the world; tears of joy even bloomed in the corners of her eyes. “Thank you so much, Deku,” she repeated again, softly and choked with emotion.
“Of course, Ochako! We’re gonna have a lot of fun!” He grinned widely. Ochako looked up at him shyly, batting her eyelashes to blink the tears away, before whirling on her heel to scurry back to Kyoka. Izuku leaned his cheek in his hand, smiling dreamily, as the girl jumped up and down giddily while showing Kyoka the ticket like it was nothing short of pure treasure. Cute, he thought, his smile growing more enchanted as Ochako’s own illuminated the room with the brilliance of a star. Seeing her so happy sent a light, fluttering feeling through his chest, and he couldn’t wait until next weekend so he could see that bright smile again.
The next week passed like a blur, chock-full of hero training interspaced with general lessons and heaps of homework. Izuku busted his behind to finish the week’s assignments by the eve of the concert, determined to have no obligations so he could enjoy the outing as much as possible. After penning his last page of a small history report, Izuku slunk downstairs to indulge in some much-needed human interaction. He sank down on the common room couch with a heavy sigh, right beside Denki and Hanta, who were spending the evening playing videogames.
“Well, well, well, look who decided to crawl out of their hole and join the world of the living!” Denki joked, nudging him with an elbow before returning his attention to the racing game he was playing. He cursed under his breath as Hanta’s car slammed into his side and sent him crashing through benches and trees on the sidewalk. “Hey, man! Not cool!”
“Ya snooze, ya lose, Denki!” Hanta cackled, leaning back on the couch and clapping the soles of his feet together excitedly. “Anyway, Izuku, you and Ochako are goin’ to that concert tomorrow, yeah?” he asked, sticking out his tongue and leaning his body as if it would make the virtual car turn harder.
“That’s right! She seems really excited!” Izuku nodded eagerly. He thought of that illuminating smile, of the joy simply radiating off her being, and couldn’t help but grin giddily. Denki caught his dreamy expression out of his peripheral vision and raised an eyebrow, then teasingly stuck out the tip of his tongue between his teeth.
“So, does she know that it’s a date?”
“What?” Izuku sputtered, throwing up his arms and curling his legs up on the couch in shock. His face had turned a bright shade of crimson in a mere instant, his freckles buried beneath the fiery warmth of his blush. “I-it’s not a date! I just had an extra ticket, that’s all, and it would have been such a shame for it to go to waste, so I was looking for someone to give it to, and I overheard Ochako talking about how much she liked the band, so n-n-naturally I would ask her if she wanted to go, because after all, I had the ticket and that’s the nice thing to do—” he babbled, his face reddening with each breathless phrase. Denki and Hanta just stared at him with matching expressions of pure skepticism, which only made his face more reminiscent of a tomato. Steam was practically buffeting out of his ears by the time he lost all semblance of words and just started gasping like a fish out of water.
“Anyway, does she know it’s a date?” Denki repeated, deadpan. Izuku slapped his hands to his face, utterly mortified. He hadn’t intended to ask Ochako on a date; he was just trying to be nice! What if she did think it was a date? He had less than twenty-four hours until they were set to go to the concert, but if she thought it was a date, then he had to make sure it was the best date ever! After all, it would be her first date, wouldn’t it? Oh, he would hate for her to have a terrible experience— and with him, no less! What should he do? What should he do?
“Now, Izuku,” Denki sighed magnanimously, chucking his controller onto the coffee table since his friend was clearly distressed. Hanta pouted, disappointed he could no longer clown Denki with the racing game, but paused the game so he could walk around the couch to plop down on Izuku’s other side and sling his lanky arm around his shoulders. Izuku’s emerald eyes, shining against his crimson skin, nervously peered through the gaps in his fingers. “Don’t worry! There’s still plenty of time to fix this sad, sad, sad situation you’ve gotten yourself into.”
“There is?”
“Indeed there is!” Hanta chimed in agreement, nodding his head and holding up his index finger confidently. “Rest assured, Izuku, the two of us are gonna transform you into the studliest of studs so that tomorrow you’ll sweep Ochako off her feet, guaranteed!” Izuku tentatively lowered his hands from his face, blinking uncertainly. Despite his misforgivings, Denki and Hanta were popular with the girls of the Hero Course; surely they at least knew something about taking a girl out on a date, right? Whether or not that was true, the two boys hoisted Izuku up to cart him upstairs, ready to give him a crash-course on wooing their adorable, bubbly classmate and taking her on the best first date ever…
The following afternoon, after a night of feverish courting lessons and last-minute reservations, Izuku was standing in Denki’s bedroom, nervously regarding himself in the mirror hanging on the back of the blond’s closet door. He was dressed in a pair of tight-fitting, slightly torn jeans and a graphic tee— a much different look than his usual cargo shoots and simple tees. Denki fluttered around him, biting down on his lip as he suppressed excited squeals of delight.
“Uh, Denki, are you sure about this?” Izuku asked, plucking at the white fibers of the shredded denim over his knees. “Shouldn’t I, like, dress for comfort?”
“No!” Denki scolded and flicked him in the forehead, making Izuku whimper and press his hand over the pink mark on his forehead. “You dress to impress on a date, dude. Rule #1! Ochako’s probably gonna be dressed to the nines for this concert; you don’t wanna embarrass her! Sheesh.”
Before Izuku could respond, Hanta descended upon him, spritzing him with cologne. Izuku hacked and coughed as the clouds of strong-smelling aroma wafted up into his face, stinging his eyes and throat. Hanta patted his shoulders and gave them an encouraging squeeze, grinning at him through his reflection.
“You’re gonna do great, Izuku! Remember your training,” he encouraged with another squeeze. Izuku momentarily panicked, his mind flushing the last eighteen hours of grilling the two boys had subjected him to in the art of wooing women. Denki rolled his eyes and thwapped him upside the head with an encouraging smirk.
“Relax, dude. You’re gonna do fine! Just remember to show Ochako a good time. That’s Rule #1!”
“I thought ‘dress to impress’ was Rule #1?” Izuku blinked in confusion.
“Every rule is Rule #1,” Denki tutted, but before Izuku could ask what good that did, Hanta steered him out of the room telling him that it was time for the show to start. They propelled him all the way to Ochako’s room, abandoning him there with no more than excited thumbs-ups and matching grins. Izuku watched them scurry back to the stairs, gulped loudly, and then nervously smoothed down his messy pine-green hair. He was already beginning to sweat; it beaded on the pads of his fingers as he smoothed them through his hair.
Okay, Izuku! You can do this!, he encouraged himself with a roll of his shoulders and a determined sigh. He’d already informed Ochako that he intended to take her out for lunch today, and she should be ready for their outing by now. He took one more moment to steel his nerves before knocking on her bedroom door before he could change his mind.
“Comi— oh dear!”
Izuku winced as the cheerful call was interrupted by a loud thump and a startled squeal. He could hear shuffling and muffled whimpers and stomping around the room; just as he was about to inquire if Ochako was all right, the door swung open to reveal a breathless and red-faced Ochako.
“Hey, Deku!” she grinned brightly as she swept a stray strand of her chestnut hair from her face, covering her anxiety with a nervous laugh. He could see her leaning awkwardly on one leg and the beginnings of a bruise forming on her other knee. “I’m ready to go!” she trilled, leaning in the doorframe and using her smile to try and hide the pained wobbling of her lips. He began to ask if she was really okay, but the words died in his throat when he finally took a moment to really look at her.
She was wearing a pink sundress with a white ribbon around the waist, tied in a big bow in the back with lace accents. Shiny white sandals framed her feet, her pink painted toenails shining in the fluorescent lights of the hallway. A big pink-and-white bow was tucked into her hair, which framed her round face. A blush rose to Izuku’s cheeks as he stared at her, mouth opening and closing repeatedly. Ochako blinked perplexedly, eyes growing owlish. “Deku? What is it?”
“Y-y-you look really cute today,” he finally managed. Ochako blinked again, and then her face flooded the color of her dress. She fisted the skirt shyly, swaying back and forth and trying not to let her happiness show on her face.
“Thanks, Deku… You look nice, too…” She twirled a lock of her hair around her finger as Izuku continued to admire her beauty, her bashful little smile. After a minute of him just dreamily gawking, Ochako fluttered her eyes and politely pushed, “Um… Deku, shouldn’t we get going? We have a reservation at that sandwich place, don’t we?”
“O-oh gosh! Sorry, sorry! Yes, let’s go!” In his flurry, he instinctively grabbed Ochako’s hand to begin pulling her down the hall. He heard her squeak in surprise and could feel the nervous sweat flood her palm, but for some reason, he didn’t feel the urge to let go. Her hand felt so soft and nice against his, which was scarred and calloused from the harsh use of his Quirk. She was careful not to touch his skin with her padded fingertips; they wouldn’t get very far with him floating off into space, after all! He did look at her briefly, however, silently inquiring if she was okay. She only grinned bashfully and gave his hand a little approvatory squeeze— and his heart rate shot into the atmosphere as that warm joy bubbled up inside of him.
It was about a three-hour bullet train ride to Tokyo, where they would catch lunch before heading to Akihabara to attend the early evening concert before catching the train back. It certainly was a full day, but Izuku found himself excited as he joined the train with Ochako. Their curriculum was so demanding that it was rare they had a chance for an outing like this, and Izuku was happy it was with one of his best friends. Except… Best friends don’t go out on dates, he thought with a blush, looking down at where Ochako’s hand rested on the arm of the train seat. He’d let her hand go when they left the dorm, but his fingers had insistently itched to claim her soft hand once again. It felt like it had fit so perfectly in his own, like two puzzle pieces clicking into place.
He looked away from her hand before she noticed, busying himself with the scenic landscape of Japan idling by through the window. He wasn’t sure how long he spent watching the buildings and roads and trees and hills roll by, but eventually he heard a soft thunk that pulled his attention away from the glass pane. He turned to see that Ochako had slumped over the edge of the seat to loll into the aisle, her mouth parted as she gently snored. The thunk had been her bracelet striking the plastic edge of the seat as her arm slipped off. She was bent awkwardly with the other arm of the seat digging into her side. It certainly didn’t look comfortable, evidenced by the way her face twitched in discomfort and she mumbled something unintelligible but laced with pain.
I can’t let her stay like that, Izuku thought. Gently so as not to wake her, he leaned in to loop his arms around her and pull her back into the seat. She immediately began to slip to the side again, head bobbing, and he reflexively caught the side of her head with his hand. He flushed at the realization of just how big his hand was in comparison to hers, so easily cradling her skull. Tenderly, he guided her head to rest on his shoulder. Ochako’s face slowly became peaceful as she sought out his warmth, smacking her lips as she nuzzled into his neck. Heat flooded his body when the tip of her nose brushed his neck, but he fought the urge to spaz out because Ochako just looked downright adorable snoozing against him.
Smiling sweetly, Izuku swept away a chunk of hair that had fallen into her face and tucked it behind her ear. Ochako hummed contentedly, her plump lips curling into a tiny smile.
“Deku,” she mumbled sleepily. He tensed, afraid he’d actually woken her up; however, Ochako didn’t move, just continued to doze peacefully. He relaxed and then immediately tensed again when the realization struck him— Ochako had just said his name in her sleep. What does that mean? Does that mean something? Oh my gosh! Surely that means something, right? He used his free hand to nervously fidget, twiddling his fingers and jumping his leg up and down. His mind whirled for the remainder of the train ride, struggling to comprehend the implications of such a simple utterance. He was in such a whirlwind of confusion that he almost missed their stop as it chimed over the intercom.
Izuku started with a gasp, then looked down at Ochako, who was still dozing peacefully. He gently shook her shoulder, looking up nervously as people began filing off the train.
“Ochako… It’s our stop!” he whispered loudly. Ochako stirred, her eyelashes fluttering to reveal hazy, sleep-addled eyes. She looked up at him drowsily with a sleepy smile on her lips. Izuku couldn’t help but return it with a sweet one of his own, charmed by how cute she looked as she rose into consciousness. “Good morning, sleepyhead!” he joked. “Sorry to wake you, but we’re in Tokyo.”
“Really?” she asked, looking around with her eyes still lidded with sleep. It took her a second to realize her head was propped on his shoulder, her short brown hair spilling over it like a curtain. When she did, however, she stiffened, and then bolted up with a squeak. Izuku only just managed to pull back in time before her head collided with his chin. Ochako covered her hands with her face, peering at him with appalled brown eyes. “I-I-I’m so sorry! How long have I been sleeping on you? That must have been so uncomfortable!”
“N-n-no, not at all!” Izuku stammered back, waving his hands in denial. “It felt kinda nice, actually.” A split second of silence passed between them as they processed what he’d just uttered. Both of them then gasped and looked away from each other, both covering their bright red faces. The announcer pleasantly initiated the last call, making Izuku stand up stiffly. “W-w-w-we need to go! We don’t wanna miss our reservation!”
“You’re right! Let’s go!” Ochako agreed, standing up and scurrying down the aisle while still covering her face. Izuku hurried after her, and they managed to hop off the bullet train just as the doors were closing. They stood awkwardly on the platform, heat radiating off them like a couple of steamed pork buns. They took a moment to recover from the embarrassing situation, with Izuku pulling up a map on his phone to navigate their way to the sandwich shop. He looked at Ochako, still slightly pink-faced, and coughed politely because she was still staring stressfully off into space.
“Sh-shall we head off? I don’t think that the train station specializes in sandwiches,” he joked lightly and rubbed the back of his neck. Ochako smiled at his wisecrack, her opal-pink cheeks turning a pleasant shade of carnation as her discomfort was replaced with happiness. She nodded in agreement so Izuku turned around, standing on his tip-toes to hunt for the stairs over the sea of heads. The subway was bustling as those departing the train and those preparing for the next arrival blended together in a writhing, cacophonic mess. He and Ochako stared dauntedly at the tightly-crammed mass and the stairs hugging the wall beyond the great sea of people.
“Um… Ochako… Would you like to hold hands?” Izuku offered shyly, looking at her with a sheepish smile. When her eyes blew wide like twin moons, his face blazed red and he hurriedly threw up his hands defensively. “I-I-I just don’t want us to get separated, that’s all! Th-there’s so many people, a-a-after all, and it would waste more time if one of us got lost!”
“Oh!” Ochako blinked, the blush in her face fading with a sheepish smile. “Sure, Deku.” She offered him her hand and Izuku took it, careful not to touch all five of the cute little pink pads adorning her fingertips. As easy as floating over the crowd would be, it would probably present more problems than it would solve in the end.
Clutching her hand tight and mildly self-conscious about the sweat that blossomed on his palm, he turned slightly to the side so he could shoulder his way through the crowd. He toted Ochako along, shouting “Excuse me!” and “Coming through!” over the chatter and mechanical din of the train station. Somehow, they wormed their way through the crowd and arrived at the base of the stairs, albeit a little breathless. He smiled at Ochako and moved to retract his hand, but surprisingly, she clenched down on his fingers. When he stared confusedly at her, she looked bashfully down at her feet.
“It might be crowded on the street, so… maybe we should play it safe?” She peered out of her lashes at him, pink tinging her cheeks. Izuku’s eyebrows crept up his forehead, too stunned to even have the sense to blush, but the hopefulness in Ochako’s timid gaze chased away any inclinations of refusing. He just smiled sweetly and squeezed her hand, prompting her to look up at him.
“Of course, Ochako. The last thing I’d want to do today is lose you.”
She gasped lightly, then used her free hand to hide her face as it flushed bright red. Izuku, realizing how flirtatious the simple declaration could sound, did the same and looked over his shoulder. I didn’t mean for it to sound so lovey-dovey, but Ochako thinks this is a date, so I guess I should be a little flirty, right?, he thought, peering out of the gaps in his fingers at her. Though her hand covered most of her face, he could see the edges of her blissful smile poking out from underneath her fingers. The fact she was so happy at just a small comment made his heart flutter and a bubbly feeling rise up in his body. I want to make her as happy as I can today… he realized, a soft smile spreading over his lips.
I’ll do my best to make this the best date ever for you, Ochako!
Finally, the two awkward teenagers gathered their wits enough to ascend the stairs to the street above. Like Ochako predicted, Akihabara was rather hectic; people streamed along the sidewalks, huddling close together as cars trundled by on the cobblestone roads. Flickering, bright neon signs towered over them advertising shops, deals, news, and— most importantly— the upcoming concert. Using his trusty map as a guide, Izuku weaved through the foot traffic toward the sandwich shop crammed in the small square space.
“Wow! Look at all the cosplays, Deku,” Ochako piped up suddenly. He looked up with a confused blink, having been absorbed in following the map, before glancing around. Sure enough, a lot of the patrons moseying around were decked out in cosplay of their favorite anime characters. They flocked to the electronics and manga stores, coming out laden with goods. Others stood outside of maid cafés, chatting amicably with the girls in black-and-white dresses, thigh-high stockings, and cute bonnets trying to entice them in for an afternoon snack. Electronic music and chimes bled out of the door of a pachinko parlor as it opened and closed continuously with gamblers walking in and out, most of them defeatedly.
“Wow! Akihabara really is as electric as they say,” Izuku praised. The air thrummed with energy; he could feel it vibrating under his skin, humming in his bones and sending a pleasant adrenaline pulsing through his body. He found himself with a prance in his step as he led Ochako on, both of them stopping occasionally to marvel at the eclectic displays that made Akihabara the haven for otakus and electronics enthusiasts. They paused so many times that they almost did miss their reservation, bundling into the shop with only a minute to spare and startling the hostess.
Like the rest of Akihabara, the sandwich shop possessed an anime theme, specifically a popular magical girl anime that he knew Ochako liked to watch with Tooru. The waitresses strutted around in colorful, lace-laden dresses, playfully waving their ornate wands and punctuating their conversations with cute poses and sayings. Ochako’s eyes brightened immediately when they walked inside, and she looked at Izuku surprisedly as they were escorted to a table.
“Izuku, did you pick this place because of me?” she asked as she eased into the booth seat, which was white and patterned with little pastel-colored hearts and stars. Izuku tried not to seem too proud of himself as he sat across from her, failing a little as the cheeky grin of satisfaction worked its way onto his face.
“Yeah! They were really nice about working us in for the concert today,” he explained as he picked up the salt and pepper shakers, which were styled like fluffy alien mascots, to examine them with amusement. He set them down before smiling at Ochako, who looked like she was about to cry with gratitude. “I wanted you to have a good time, so I thought picking a restaurant themed after your favorite anime would make you happy!”
She shrunk down a little in the booth. Her lips twitched as she tried not to smile too hard, but it broke free, stretching across her face until her eyes crinkled up into little half-moons. She played with the bow around her middle and shifted, her eyes trained shyly on the table. Finally, she murmured a soft, “Thank you, Deku. I really am happy.”
“I’m glad,” Izuku replied, just as softly. She shifted again, her smile growing wider, though her face strained to fit the absolutely overjoyed beam. It made that fuzzy, bubbly feeling rise up within him again. He picked up the menu to hide his pleased smile.
Everything’s going so well!
They spent an hour or so in the shop, chowing down on scrumptious sandwiches and fraternizing with the costumed waitresses. Ochako snagged a photograph with every single one of them, and she broke down crying when the manager gifted her a free cosplay wand of her favorite magical girl because he was so charmed by her enthusiasm. She clutched it to her chest as they walked out of the shop, her eyes glittering like diamonds and her skin practically glowed with happiness. As Izuku pulled up his map again to find the concert venue, Ochako dramatically flourished the wand and bopped him on the head.
“Am I a magical girl now?” He laughed while putting a hand on his head where she had tapped him with it.
“Yep!” She giggled, tapping him again on his hand. “You’d make a beautiful magical girl.”
“Thanks.” He laughed. “I’ll take that into consideration. Maybe I’ll make it my brand in a few years!”
“Oh my gosh!” Ochako laughed, covering her mouth with an obscene snort. “I can just imagine you prancing around in thigh-high boots and a skirt with little plastic wings…”
“I thought you said I would be a beautiful magical girl!” He whined. “What, is the image too beautiful for you to handle?”
“Yes!”
They both began laughing hysterically at the image of Izuku waltzing around in a girly costume with his magic wand touting about the power of friendship and love. It certainly was amusing. They continued to joke about it while they strolled to the concert venue, a building tucked into the towering mish-mash of specialty shops. It proudly displayed “AKB48” in bright letters of purple, red, and blue on the scrolling neon sign, followed by a “SOLD OUT” in white.
“It’s a good thing you won those tickets, Deku!” Ochako said when they filed into line. Izuku clutched the tickets in his hands; it would be a shame for them to come all this way only to have lost them at the finish line. They inched forward as the concertgoers were filed inside.
“Yeah! I’m happy you agreed to come with me, Ochako. Truthfully, I don’t know anything about these idols,” he admitted while bashfully rubbing the back of his neck. “I just called in for the heck of it. I was so shocked when I found out I actually won!”
“Really? This is gonna be so much fun, then! I can’t wait to see what you think of them!”
“Yeah?” he said, finding himself growing excited from her infectious enthusiasm. She began to ramble about the origin of idol groups in Akihabara and the rise of the latest, AKB48. Though Izuku really didn’t understand much of what she was talking about, the way her eyes lit up and a smile painted her round face made him listen along anyway. He watched her dreamily, more watching her mouth move than paying attention to the words coming out of it. She really is pretty, he thought absently, marveling at the sheen of her glossed lips. He wondered what flavor it could be. She seemed like a strawberry or cherry type of person, but maybe she opted for something unique.
“Tickets, please.”
Izuku was startled out of his daydreaming by the attendant, who had apparently been asking him for the tickets for several seconds, based on his annoyed expression and demandingly outstretched hand. Izuku hurriedly handed over the tickets while sputtering apologies, but the greeter only dismissively waved them through. Ochako encouragingly patted Izuku’s back as he shuffled on, sulking with embarrassment.
I just couldn’t help but get so engrossed in her talking, he thought with a light blush dusting his cheeks. His eyes were still engrossed with her, trailing slowly to watch as she scampered up to the merchandise table to ogle the band tee shirts. A dreamy smile automatically appeared on Izuku’s lips; she just looked too cute, her index finger pressed against her pursed lips as she carefully surveyed the selection. He moseyed up behind her, hands clasped behind his back and his eyebrows raised meaningfully.
“There’s a little time before the concert starts… Would you like a shirt, Ochako?”
“What?” she cried, jumping at his sudden appearance. “O-o-oh, no, I was just looking! You already paid for lunch, Deku. I couldn’t possibly ask for more!” she refused, waving her hands. She was still holding the wand from the sandwich shop, so she accidentally bopped herself in the head with it during her nervous flailing. Her face turned bright red, but she continued to insistently refuse his offer. “Seriously, Deku, don’t worry about it. I don’t want one that bad.” Yet, her eyes slid longingly back to the table.
“Yeah, you do.” He laughed and pulled out his wallet. He danced away when Ochako tried to swipe at him, dodging her grabs while pulling out a few bills. It took a few seconds for him to get back to the merchandise seller, who was watching them amusedly, but once Izuku dropped the bills into his hand, it was over. Ochako slumped defeatedly and sheepishly slid the shirt she wanted off the table, while Izuku grabbed another that had caught his eye. Izuku slipped his own over the tee-shirt that Denki had loaned him, and Ochako followed suit by sliding hers over her dress. The fronds of her bow stuck out awkwardly underneath, making Izuku chuckle and bat at them.
“What? Do I look funny?” she pouted, grabbing the hem of the shirt subconsciously.
“No,” he chuckled while rubbing the soft, wilky fabric of the bow’s tail between his thumbs. “I think it’s cute how big of a fan you are that you’ll wear it over your dress.” Ochako flushed and ducked her head, the edges of her smile peeking out of her swathes of brown hair. He reached out to tuck it behind her ear, and as his fingertips brushed ever-so-softly against her cheek, she froze. Normally he would grow flustered and flail about, but… there was something about the electric energy of this place that made him bold, that made him act on the warm, fluttery feeling that had been filling him up all afternoon.
Slowly, that bubbly warmth had become sharper, stronger, turning into volts of electricity that shot through his bones every time Ochako gifted him that beautiful smile and cute pink face. He wasn’t even sure that he wanted to make her happy simply for her sake anymore, but rather a selfish desire to fuel the electricity pulsing within him, those sparks of affection slowly coalescing into an electric storm.
“W-we should go find our seats,” Ochako gulped after a few seconds of staring at him in stunned silence, as his hands were still resting in her hair. He hummed in agreement and pulled back, sliding his hands in his pockets as he led the way. They walked into the concert hall proper to find rows upon rows of seats surrounding a spacious stage. Large black speakers lined its circumference and purple-blue lights basked the area in a dusky glow. Thanks to winning the special promotion, Izuku and Ochako’s seats were near the front— not too far up to be deafening, but close enough to still provide a great view and ambience. They pushed past the other concertgoers to take their place among the throng. They were just in time, as the lights soon dimmed and a hush descended upon the crowd.
The silence was instantly replaced by deafening cheers as a group of young women in school uniforms skipped out on stage, smiling and waving enthusiastically. Izuku and Ochako barely had time to jam in the soft foam earplugs provided to them before the crowd erupted into their roars; even still, Izuku’s eardrums rang with the cacophony. After greeting the crowd, the girls set up in formation, prompting Ochako to touch Izuku’s arm excitedly.
“Ah, they’re starting!” she squealed over the cheers. “I’m so excited!” She jumped up and down, standing on her tip-toes to watch the idols with sparkling eyes, and that’s when Izuku stopped paying attention to anything but her.
Really, if he’d paid for the tickets, they’d have been a waste. Izuku spent the entire concert gazing at the girl beside him. The strobe lights played over her form in hues of pink and purple and blue, the light playing over her round cheeks pink with exhilaration and glinting off her bright smile and shining eyes. Sweat sheened on her skin as she danced excitedly in place and belted out the lyrics to the songs as loud as she could. Every time she looked at Izuku with an expression of sheer elation, he felt his breath leave his lungs. How a girl could be so utterly breathtaking doing something so simple as having fun, he wasn’t sure, but Ochako was.
The electricity coursed through him, simmering under his skin and filling him to the brim with his own sense of joy. I think I love her, he realized with an adoring smile, just watching her sway her hips and toss her arms as she danced to the beat. No, I know I love her. Maybe he always had. How could he not? She had been there for him from the beginning of his journey, supporting him and encouraging him. She was the perfect balance of soft and strong, a kind heart ready to harden like steel whenever she needed to. And, God, she was beautiful, so beautiful his heart ached looking at her. She was a masterpiece underneath these flashing lights, the shining sun, the glowing moon— a soft and natural beauty that was as pure as the rest of her.
Izuku found himself reaching out to her without realizing it. He gently touched her cheek, a feather-light trace of her skin. She dropped her arms slightly to look at him in confusion, and that’s when he closed the distance to press a kiss to her mouth. He felt her tense and then melt into him with a soft hum. Her body molded against his like it belonged there, her arms winding around his neck like they’d found their way home. The poppy tunes of the idol band faded into the background as they kissed slowly, sweetly, passionately, in the thralls of a love so electric it could power cities for all time.
Eventually, they pulled apart, a little breathless and pink-faced. Strawberry, he thought absently when he licked his lips. Ochako stared coyly up at him and batted her eyelashes.
“I didn’t know this was supposed to be a date,” she admitted quietly, so much so that Izuku almost didn’t hear her over the blasting music of the ending set. He did, though, and his eyes went wide in shock.
“You… you didn’t? But Denki and Hanta said…” He trailed off with a groan, realizing just how big a mistake it was to listen to those two clowns. Ochako laughed when he face-palmed. She reached up to pull his hand away, still chuckling. The show had just ended with the crowd erupting in applause around them, but the two of them made no move to leave.
“It’s okay,” she smiled sweetly. “I had an amazing time, Deku, really. This is more than I ever could have asked for.”
“I’m glad, but…” He chewed nervously on the inside of his check. “Are you okay with it being a date? I mean, I thought… Which is why I kissed you, but if you didn’t want it, that was totally not okay of me—!” Before he could descend into sputtering rambles, Ochako silenced him by putting a finger over his lips. He crossed his eyes to blink at the digit, while she chuckled warmly.
“Izuku, do you think I would have kissed you back if I wasn’t okay with it?” she teased. He blushed and rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling nervously.
“Yeah, I suppose that’s true… So… does this mean we’re dating now?”
“I suppose it does,” Ochako nodded bashfully, turning from side-to-side. Something about that made Izuku exceptionally giddy, so much so that he swooped in to press a kiss to the tip of her nose. She squealed in surprise and delight, returning his affections with a nose nuzzle. Filled to the brim with more happiness than he thought humanly possibly, Izuku just took a moment to admire his pretty new girlfriend, and her deep brown eyes that were staring at him, so in love.
They were practically glued to one another’s side as they exited the concert hall. Dusk had descended, with the last rays of the sunlight spearing into the lavender-blue sky. Though Akihabara probably had much more fun to be had, they unfortunately had to return to the dorm before curfew. They headed straight for the station and boarded the bullet train. This time, Ochako nestled purposefully into his shoulder, watching with lidded eyes as he scrolled through his news feed on his phone. Izuku looped his arm around her waist to hold her close to him, enjoying her warmth blooming against his side with the nighttime cityscape basking them in streetlight.
It wasn’t long until she dozed off. Her shoulders rose and fell with gentle breaths. Izuku petted her soft hair with a smile, still on his phone as he idly wove the silky strands around his fingers. His phone chimed suddenly with a text message from Denki, asking how the date went. Smirking, Izuku raised his phone to snap a picture of them— Ochako dozing against him, held securely in Izuku’s grip.
If Izuku had to say, it went very well indeed.

Have some Asra n Muriel disorganized headcanons: animal themed!
Asra's most likely to answer quetzal if you ask for his favourite bird (he had a close up encounter with one his first time in nopal and had never seen a bird like it so it's a special memory), but he also appreciates all others. He also loves dart frogs and his favorite reptile would of course be perfect lavender angel baby fictional fantasy pythons. I'd also see him loving dragonflies as well.
He will see literally any animal generally and always say "they're one of my favourites!", though. It doesn't matter how many times he's said it that day or how many animals he's said it about. It's almost without fail he'll point one out and say it's a favourite.
One of his favorite animals is always the one in front of him Right Now, as a quick reference.
Plus, he loves to point animals out on travels or when out and about Vesuvia, so get used to hearing it!
He may attempt to catch critters occasionally too, or just pick them up, these will be mostly bugs usually. He just likes to cup moths in his hand on occasion and the watch them flutter out and I think he should be allowed to! Or just cradle bugs in his palm and watch them walk around for a bit. If it's a reptile or amphibian somewhere it could get stepped on or dried out or eaten he will still scoop them up and carry them to the brush.
[Cont. after cut]
Nothing he ever handles seems to get too upset or stressed, even when it's an animal that otherwise would. They just seem to be more relaxed if it's Asra who's touching them. Sometimes reptiles just come up to him (or even crawl onto his hand, as a few lizards have,) curiously enough. Though they may still refuse to be touched even then, they're notably not bothered by his presence when for others they'd run away. It's not something Asra's ever noticed to be odd, nor would it be overly noticeable to most people, but it's definitely something you can recognize if you pay attention.
Asra would also love to run on the beach sometimes, namely as a kid, maybe making himself invisible or otherwise undetectable until he's right up on a big flock of seagulls before giving them a hearty boo! And watching them all fly away all giggly. As an adult he may still stir up flocks for fun sometimes, or just to see how pretty it is to watch them all fly at once.
In general he just loves watching birds or bugs or whatever be it fly, always so effortlessly. Maybe he wishes he could fly himself. It certainly would make things easier he would come to think time to time growing up in Vesuvia.
Plus, he likes to collect the feathers that flutter down. Back when he sold masks, they were something he incorporated into them often. Then, too, he would also sit by the river after wearing himself out practicing hydromancy or what not, and a few times dragonflies would perch on him. He'd always gasp n grin all big and goofy when they did.
Muriel doesn't pick favorites really when it comes to animals (barring wolves and bears), but he does mirror Asra's 'one of my favourites' statements by saying "they're one of Asra's favorites," Occasionally.
While Asra's animal encounters or observations are typically brief, Muriel is more than content to just watch animals long periods of time. He can spot or at least know where to find some seriously elusive ones. The only one such animal Asra seems to have luck like that with seems to be foxes.
If you want to see an animal, local to the area around Vesuvia namely, Muriel can probably help you with that, granted he trusts you. This includes dens, hives, and nesting sites of course, things he will stop by occasionally in his forest to check on. His luck/skill in finding these things can't seem to be mimicked by even the most skilled animal trackers, you'd think they were practically just showing themselves to only him.
Muriel is also content to let animals do their thing and not interact with them much. Birds, butterflies and similar may land on him occasionally and he's always enchanted by it though, and will make no move to prevent an animal being on or touching him. Similar to Asra, he will also remove any animals in bad spots and put them somewhere better. He's a bit more effective at this though, as he tends to be looking down anyways, while Asra has probably smooshed a few pillbugs and snails before while doing his own thing- eyes elsewhere.
If Muriel did ever nerf a bug accidentally he would probably feel pretty damn bad, and if it wasn't reduced to a mere smear he would return its poor bug corpse to nature so that it might reclaim it. He'd get over it quick though if he was in a good mood prior, just give him a moment. If he was upset over something else already and he killed one, I could see it even pushing him to tears or rather making it worse if he was already at that point.
Asra would probably be like 'awh.... :( oof, I'm sorry lil guy...' and sweep it into nature if he could, but otherwise he would not be impacted too much.
Asra would purposely kill bugs on a few occasions even, pest bugs namely - like flies or mosquitoes or, of course, plague beetles. He may even instinctively lash out and flatten a bug that simply resembles a plague beetle enough, particularly if something had his anxiety or panic (ptsd trigger from the plague??) going. Otherwise plague beetle resembling beetles he'd be a little unsettled by, or uncomfortable to be around, but not enough to necessarily kill. He'd either move it somewhere else, try to scare it off, or move away from it. Muriel doesn't have many hang ups on plague beetle resembling bugs, though he would probably kill the real deal readily.
Any dead animals not in a wild area (like left in the city or on a road,) Muriel would move as long as it wasn't yknow. Too nasty. Birds that hit windows, starved or sickly scavengers, anything that dropped in a heatwave or was claimed by a flood, things like that, recent deaths. It pains him to see at all, but pains him more to leave them just.... There. Some he may bury, others he may leave out in places where there's animals he know will take it for food.
Injured or sick animals Muriel would try to help best he could, and he's successfully done it a few times. If it's blistering hot he'd also likely leave water out here and there for the animals of the forest, and he may enlist Asra's help with this to replenish water in natural water basins as well in droughts.
Muriel can handle animal death okay, hunting and fishing is a thing he does to some degree, it's just the preventable or senseless ones that hurt, it's worth saying here. It's just sad. He'll be okay after though, unless there's something more nefarious and upsetting at play.
Asra helping unwell/hurt animals would mostly consist of magic healing, but beyond that he wouldn't know what to really do besides bring it to Muriel or any animal experts near him. He doesn't come across these situations too often thankfully, though. Domestic animals he would take in more readily, and would let crash at the shop for a while if he can. If it's a livestock animal he'll ask if Muriel wants to take it in, or even in the case of an ownerless pet animal. If not, he can ask around. See if anyone wants a new dog or cat or... Goat. I just imagine those are the kinds of animals he's most likely to find in need, being in the center of Vesuvia.
Moving on from that....
Animal knowledge!
Asra likely doesn't know a ton about animals outside of ones that feature prominently in magic and myth, he's just good at identifying them and overall tends to appreciate their presence. Identifying animals can make for good pass times on long travels, or if he just sees something particularly neat he may simply want to know what to call it. He also probably learned most the common local Vesuvian species names growing up, probably through reading, though the bulk of his knowledge of the nature he grew up around is probably botanical- foraging can be dangerous! Plus, magic knowledge probably leans more heavily on plants than animals as well.
If Asra can't identify an animal, though, he will simply make up a name for it on the spot. If he finds out it's ID later he will still refer to it as his made up name followed by AKA/sometimes called/locally known as [real name]. He also tends to refer to tons of animals as the infamous, famous, legendary, revered, etc. Regardless of relevance, commonality or obscurity. He just thinks they all deserve such titles, and when has a little flair ever hurt?
"Ah, MC, look! It's an Abramesmerwhymsical Zadithi midnight-billed stilt-wader! Though it's sometimes also known as the famous crab-plover," Kinda shit. He enjoys it.
Muriel doesn't actually know the actual names of a ton of animals species. He knows of a few though, not to mention the Asra-given names that stuck with him. Despite not knowing their names sometimes still, he can tell most all species apart readily, and juveniles from adults, males from females, things like that. He watches animals of the forest regularly and is in tune with the local species life cycles, breeding or rearing seasons, migratory patterns, unique behaviors and everything else. Though his knowledge is probably limited to Vesuvian species, he's able to quickly pick up on other animal's traits and such when outside of Vesuvian territory, and is generally good with animals as is.
He knows what doves/pigeons and owls and vipers and mice and geckos etc are. He may not know that a specific species of such is called like, namaqua doves, omani owls, ocellated mountain vipers, cario spiny mouse, kotschy's middle-toed geckos n shit. It's not like he has NO idea, species names are weird and can be long winded so....
...He just doesn't know that dunnocks aren't actually called stripple-caped tseepers.
But he doesn't need to. <3
If he does learn the real names for them though, he is quite glad and will use the name readily. If you're looking at a Muriel who's in the city more, he will probably read up on this information himself, but otherwise he would of course treasure it if MC told him.
The only reasons he doesn't even know the names to begin with is mostly because the names you'll hear out and about most commonly only cover a fraction of species to start, and everything else youre mostly going to have to study via reading or classes. Neither of those seem to be things a young homeless Muriel would care to pursue lmao.
Annnnd
I forgot what else I was going to add and lost track so, I'll maybe add more later. I'll probably also amend this as I may find I don't agree with my own statements the next day and also I don't proofread so. I hope u enjoyed these feel free to add on or add differing opinions!

GIANTS OF BL 2021 AKA SHOWS LINED UP FOR GMMTV THAT WE WON’T STOP SCREAMING ABOUT!
Tumblr media
Is there a way I can get over the addiction of BLS? Apparently not because GMMTV came and slapped me across the face for ever thinking I could. Like what even was that conference? I came in like yeah I've heard the rumours. 6 BLs! LOL, you're kidding, like nothing I'd want would even happen. But I still made a list of everything I wanted from them and held that checklist in my mind and boy was I shocked! I ended up just on the floor, brain exploded, mind shut down and can you believe I was crying? Like why on earth was I crying for GMMTV BLs? Crazy right? I am absolutely left floored, I'm going to be crying as I write this by the way just so you know, I've got my heart full ready to burst, talking about the change we've seen in BLs this year, the journey, the growth; there's still some work to do, but GMMTV said they were also part of that, they were going to change and make us stay, wanting more. They did that in a 3-hour conference. My brain is ready, my mind is prepared, my heart is available for all these shows, and I can't wait to see what 2021 unfolds. Let's begin screaming:
Ratings: From 1 to 5 (1 being least excited to watch, 5 being most,) how excited am I to delve into these shows?
THE NICE SURPRISES
Tumblr media
BAKERY BOYS
Genre/Themes: Thriller, Bromance, Mystery, Psychological, Drama, Friendship, BL? (The manga is), Baking
Verdict: You know I love Antique when immediately I see that Foie's hands shaking as he has to be one of the waiters in the cafe, reminds me back to another favourite bodyguard of mine doing so. I was in shock; One because Antique was one of my first Korean 'BL' movies I saw, with all my favourite actors, an unusual and intriguing plotline and I ate it up; all of it. I didn't like how censored it was and the weird open ending for the relationship in the show. But I couldn't care less, something about it made me happy. I just loved the characters I think, and I enjoyed seeing our 4 bakers become friends and find a weird found family with each other. Add in a mystery to why Joon’s character wanted to kill himself and hated cakes? And I was sold. Now GMMTV is making a remake for it, and SINGTO is playing my favourite gay baker. Like I am so happy with this. Do I expect this to blow my mind? No. Do I expect more BL? A little? I'm not sure like GMMTV could make Antique a BL if they want to, Korea hinted to it, Japan ignored it in anime and others, but Thailand could change that. I'm not holding hopes for it, but I love this cast just as much as I love the Korean Cast like Lee Thanawat is perfect for this role, Singto is greater (I just love him so much) and we even have Pleum and Foei?? Are you kidding me? Greatness. It's going to be fun to see what they do with the mystery—something I greatly liked in the movie. Let's hope it's more fleshed out in the tv show. So excited!
Tumblr media
Ratings: 3.5/5 I mean it's not really a BL so it'll feel queer baity for me and I may end up being annoyed it, but I really do have fond memories of the Korean movie, so I want to be excited, and the cast is everything so we'll see.
Tumblr media
FISH UPON THE SKY
Genre: Unrequited Love, Comedy, Romance, Rivalry, Haters to Lovers,
Verdict:
DID SOMEONE SAY JITTIRAIN: THEORY OF LOVE? 2GETHER??? Sorry for screaming but like what else am I meant to do. Theory of love is my ultimate BL show, one of it anyway, one of the reasons will be discussed even more later with another show, but this is not about them. Also, 2gether is like one of the biggest BLs ever right now. Jittirain is genius, she has this ability to make you feel for her characters, root for their love stories whilst throwing plot twists everywhere. I also like that she always has a focus; theory of love, we had film theory, 2gether we had music, and now we have Fish Upon the Sky, and we have?
Medicine? Love rivalry? Honestly, I don't know, the title even makes me feel even weird; what the hell does Fish upon a sky mean? But who cares it's a Jittirain classic, comedy, pain, longiiiing, and unrequited love, and scheming to get unrequited loves requited, more side couples and secretive characters. This time we have PHUWIN (had to emphasise that because he's impressive people stop sleeping on him!), one of my favourite youngins, showing up and becoming our main Pi and we have Pond a newbie, who has charisma for days, and he plays Mork, and they are love rivals. Wait what? A love story between two people who fall for each other after chasing after one guy? I'm ready for this, the haters to lovers, the pain of unrequited longing, but hold on it seems like a plot twist! Seems like we have another oblivious protagonist on our hand aside from Tine in 2gether, Pi can't even see that Mork isn't chasing after the same person as him, but for he's chasing after him! Sarawat scheming activated! I'm expecting giggles, chemistry and a great story. And it's going to be great because it's Jittirain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ratings: 4.5/5 It's not anything new but do I need to repeat my self? Theory of love pining and longing and emotions mixed with 2gether's secrecy, scheming and obliviousness? It's going to be great. The cast is also excellent, I have total faith in this show, better be a good director though (oh no nightmares from the last half of 2gether has returned).
Tumblr media
FINDING ENCHANTE
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Angst, Drama, Friends to Lovers, Haters to Lovers, Harem, Mystery,
Verdicts:
Enchante that means nice to meet you aww. Wow, now I know French. Yay now where do I sign up to be like Theo and have 5 men chasing after me? Actually, that sounds like a nightmare, and I don't have time for that. He does apparently. Guess what guys! I knew I had a feeling in my gut when I watched this drama, I felt the memories, the intuition, the clues, hitting my brain, and I realised why. This show is also written by My gear and your gown's writer. YES! You mean more mystery and subtext filled storytelling, a show where I can analyse the character dynamics, and find clues to piecing the story together??? Perfection. As much as My gear and your gown wasn't everything to me, it was everything to me when I analysed it, I have fun with this writer's works when directed properly her works have great potential to be one of the best. I love GMMTV giving new actors the time to shine, and choosing stories that make my mind start working again. Thank you.
Tumblr media
With this show we're having a love Simon flashbacks with our Simon being sent secret messages through a book by Enchante, he's sweet, caring and totally all about making our lead comfortable. Who could he be?
The best friend who's totally pining from afar and playing off his feelings like its nothing?  My gut is already saying that Tine definitely wants it to be him (so again requited but they don't know trope? you've got me!)
Is it the playboy guitar extraordinaire played by GAWIN you heard me right GAWIN my Mork in Dark Blue Kiss!! Like what? Where've you been boy? He looks so great in this, by the way, he's a tease, likes to play our lead's feelings, and has chemistry because they're haters to lovers.
Or is it FLUKE PUSIT?? What even is this cast how is it both my favourite actors are here? Anyways Fluke is an artist, he wants our lead to let him in so he can draw him, our lead is his muse apparently, and again chemistry that makes your head hurt because like who is this damn Enchante?? Who will Theo choose?
Anyways we then have two people who I don't know that well sorry, Boom is the football captain that likes our lead and is always protecting him, and the other is a genius/nerd? Who helps Theo with his studies? Like wow, it must be great to be Theo, guys from different lifestyles and aesthetics have found him, they want him, they need him and one of them he wants and needs. I wonder who it is.
Tumblr media
Ps people already thinking it's the best friend, not me, I think bestie is obviously endgame Tine is definitely also secretly wanting him to be with that pining and longing (I'm sure it's why he wants to find enchante desperately). I can't wait to see why these two refuse to let each other know how it feels. All I beg for is, please don't let New direct this. Guess what it's produced by X (Theory of Love! Hold on while I cry again) and Film! (Also theory of love!) Oh, this is going to be brilliant!
Tumblr media
Ratings: 4.5/5 This drama is probably going to be the most underrated because people have other things to care about I don't blame you, but I think for me, this would be a same favourite way I loved MGYG and I'm ready for new faces, Gawin and Fluke and a requited but they don't know it angsty love story plus I know the directing is going to be amazing!. Ps, I actually hate harems, but the excitement is in figuring out who on earth is Enchante and why this is happening!
Tumblr media
THE BIG BOYS
GMMTV decided to not let me rest next year. How is it that I already felt happy by seeing Phuwin, Gawin, Fluke etc... I was content you know, I was like great we have a great line up I'm excited now I don't think there's anything else I secretly want that will happen. I'm being a clown, BUT NO. EVERYTHING I ASKED FOR: EVERYONE I WANTED TO SEE, EVERY TROPE I WANTED, THE DIRECTOR, THE PLOTS, EVERYTHING WAS MANIFESTED BY THESE THREE TRAILERS. That's why I ended up crying.  Because even till this day I can't believe this is real. I don't know when I'll finally think they will be real in 2021. Crying again!
Tumblr media
NOT ME
Genre: Gang, Mafia, Crime, Romance, Drama, Stolen Identity, Twins, Angst
Not me? Not you? Not us? See how my mind scrambles when it comes to this show. Because I was determined to not be a clown and believe in this even when I saw OFF GUN hold onto each other on the motorbike I was like HA, nope they're just guest stars, when I saw them as gang members I was like HA; interesting probably not BL. When I saw two Guns, I was like HA, nice Gifted character flashback but still not BL. I won't fall for it,  this is a BAIT! You get me? BAIT!! Don't fall for it and then GMMTV was like shut up here's a kiss. And then I broke down and cried. Because it was a journey.
Remember when I said Theory of Love was my favourite? It's because of these two; OffGun is everything, my favourite BL couple on screen, my favourite fanservice couple, everything. I thought that the end of theory of love meant I won't be seeing them for a while, they'd be in other series separate, they'd not want to be typecasted. Gun would go for serious roles, Off will choose more het romantic comedies, don't blame them. Still, I didn't think I'd see them again, and I wasn't sure I wanted to see them in another university setting. I set my mind on only seeing them in fan meetings and side projects, I'd made up my mind to miss them. And then NOT ME happened, and now I'm crying just at the thought;
Tumblr media
This isn't a cringy, comedic, cheesy BL.
This isn't set in University.
This isn't'  unrequited pining from Gun to Off.
Gun is Dark! I repeat Gun went Dark he became a gang leader determined to break the law, called Black and Off; OFF went serious and he's Gun's right-hand man called Sean, and I'm just like wait is this real?? We're getting dark, gritty OFF GUN??? Are you serious?? See?? still can't believe it, and it's BL??? What is this? Christmas?? Like how did we get this, who came up with this idea THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I thought nothing could beat theory of love for me and now OffGun came back and said HA you thought. I have a lot of feels about this, I will never stop screaming, I've rewatched that youtube trailer now for about more than 20 times, I'm not even kidding you, every day it's on repeat, I'm just ready, ready to write, to scream, to talk about this in so much detail. Let's get a plot that's deep, thrilling and mysterious, let's get a romance that is interesting, angsty but also sweet, let's get acting that is full of range, that will break my heart but fix it together again, let's get chemistry that would make me forget everything else. I'm ready for this. I've never been more ready!
Tumblr media
Ratings: 5/5 What were you expecting? I can't even rate this anything else, nothing about this is worrying; even the director I trust she's also worked with Gun before in another movie of his, she respects LGBTQ, and she wants to make a great BL. I just can't believe this is real. 2021 come faster, I beg you.
Tumblr media
BAD BUDDY
Genre: Forbidden romance, Haters to Lovers, Romance, Comedy, Opposites attract, Angst, Friends to Lovers,
Verdict:
You thought my screaming would be over. But no. GMMTV wasn't done with me yet. It's like it knew I was mourning from my lack of Ohm Pawat after rewatching He's coming to me (review here) and it knew I had just finished watching Gifted Graduation and felt slighted to see my opportunity at seeing Nanon as a BL character being taken from me with that finale. GMMTV knew I was empty without them and decided to mock me, and put me back together by making OHM NANON in a series together,.
Again the same process as Not me; I started laughing when I saw the trailer like a mad person. I was like this is clearly a queer bait bromance, HA, not falling for it GMMTV almost got me this time, but then there were the stares, the Romeo and Juliet energy, the sneaking into each other's rooms, the becoming secret friends despite being haters to lovers, the skinship, the intimacy, and then the jealousy, the pining, the longing, the are we just friends scene??? WAIT, WHAT IS THIS?? Why is AOF directing this (same director of ALL my favourite BLS), what is this GMMTV?
Tumblr media
Nanon wouldn't be in a BL we know this, we've been clowns, but we accepted this with defeat, why is he now saying he's doing one because of the cast? THIS IS A BL? NOT BAIT? NOT A TRICK? BY AOF? WHATTTTTTT???? see my mind exploded.
Since then it hasn't still comprehended this. This is insane, do you know how good, how genius, how amazing Nanon and Ohm Pawat is?? Do you see the power this holds? The fact it's directed by Aof who's like one of the best directors ever in GMMTV??? Do you even know what this means? For this GENRE??? Sorry, I have to scream. I still can't believe this! This is something someone would say, and we'd laugh it of as a joke like yeah right, in your dreams, but it's real, and it looks absolutely amazing, is it a university setting YES, so what? This is everything, with haters to lovers but not really, to Romeo and Juliet pining and longing, to the chemistry that takes your breath away. To just Ohm and Nanon in a screen together being in love. Yep, you guessed it my mind is never goanna be whole again after this breakdown. Guess what I'm okay with it.
Tumblr media
Ratings: 5/5 OhmNanon, Aof that's it. That's the post.
Tumblr media
A TALE OF A THOUSAND STARS
Genre/Themes: Military, Romance, Comedy, Drama, Heart Transplant, Unrequited Love, Fish out of water,
Verdict:
And we come to this big one here. You see it? It screams 2021 show of the year to me, it screams incredible plot and romance to me, it screams unique and exciting BL to me. Guess what? It's also by Aof. Ha. It took me a year to accept this is happening because when the trailer came out, I knew that with this cursed genre that this was too good that there'd probably be some kind of issue with it. But did it matter? No! Because this was real. Earth and Mix were in a BL together, and it looks so amazing, so great, and it's coming in less than 3 months. I'm going to cry. And it means everything; because there's a hint of character dynamics, angst and also haters to lovers. I see the chemistry, the production, the plot, the actors, and I just feel so ready for this show that I have no other words to say except I love it, I love it, I love it!.
Tumblr media
Ratings: 5/5 It's taken years, but I'm ready for this, I just want the trailer now, I want the show now, I want 2021 to start now. This is definitely a giant for sure, it's everything, and I can't wait for it.
Tumblr media
After screaming at everything; 2021 starting with ATOTS is already a sign, we're in for a great year with so many incredible changes in this genre. GMMTV isn't messing around, with subs in their event to show international fans are no longer forgotten and are heard and respected, with actors that have made their way into my heart and refuse to leave, and I'm just so happy. It may seem so extreme to be this excited for a BL series to be good, but I love this genre, I love seeing what it represents to so many people, I love the interesting storylines, the discussions you can have for days because of it, the tears, angst, and happiness you feel. But most of all I love how BL has brought out writing from me, I'm happy when I analyse this genre, I'm delighted discussing real-life links and conversations derived from it, I'm so glad learning and humbling my self and opening my mind to new things. BL has been a source of excitement, shock and happiness this year. I can't for next year to be even more splendid, and with this line-up, it's going to be even more than that. It's going to break the world. Can't wait.

Tubbo was sitting next to the small pond in the middle of L’manberg, staring into the water. Fish darted through the swaying grass, creating small ripples in the otherwise still surface. He heard the grass rustle behind him and didn’t need to look to know it was his closest friend.
Tommy sighed. “Hey Big T.” His voice was subdued, filled with a type of grief. Tubbo looked up, eyes full of concern. “Hey man, you alright?”
“Yeah… Yeah I’m good.” Tommy plopped down in the grass next to Tubbo and stared into the water. “Look, there's something I need to tell you. Just… Just promise me you won’t freak out, ok? At least not until I’ve had a chance to explain myself.” “Ok? Whats up?”
Tommy took a deep breath. He couldn’t help but be terrified of how Tubbo would react to the news. He didn’t want to lose his best friend… “I’m… I’m not your Tommy,” he admitted. He spoke slowly, as if each word was chosen carefully.
Tubbo furrowed his brow. “What? What do you mean?”
“I mean, I’m still Tommy, but just not the same Tommy. Does that make sense?”
“Kinda?”
Tommy let out a sigh, before telling his best friend the whole story. He explained how he was ripped away from his home, how he had woken up here with an arrow in his chest, how he had experienced the war through a screen. It was similar to what had happened with George, except this time he had no one to back him up. There was no one there to vouch for him, and all he could do was hope that Tubbo would trust him.
When he was finished, there were tears in his friends' eyes. “So… You’re telling me that you’re from another world? And that my Tommy might be dead?”
“Yeah.”
“Tommy, how long have you been hiding this from us?”
“Two weeks maybe? It happened during the bow duel.”
“You’ve been away from your home for two weeks, and you didn’t say anything?
“I’m sorry… I should have told you what was happening. I’m really sorry. I just… I didn’t know what to say.”
“Have you been dealing with this all alone for the past two weeks?”
“I mean, not really… The same thing happened to Dream, so I’ve been talking with him. George has been teaching us sword fighting.” he shrugged
“Tommy…” Tubbo reached up and wiped away the tears that were starting to fall. “Tommy, why did you wait so long to tell me? Damn it, I should have noticed sooner. I should have been there to help you”
“W-what? Tubbo I just told you that your best friend could potentially be dead because of me, and that's what you’re worried about?”
“You’re still Tommy, aren’t you? You may not be the same Tommy that tried to scare me after I first arrived, or the Tommy that broke his arm while trying to build the wall, but you’re still my friend.”
“But… But what about your Tommy…?” Tubbo shrugged “I trust that he’s still alive. I feel like I would know if something happened to him. Besides, he’s too stubborn to die in such a stupid way.”
Tommy could feel his eyes start to water. He hastily reached up and wiped away the tears “I… thank you big man. Thank you so much”
Tubbo turned and gave his friend a hug “Yeah, no problem. We’re gonna get you home, ok? We’re gonna find a way to get you back home.”
The tears flowed freely down his cheeks. How long had it been since he had last been comforted like this? Since someone had actually promised to help him get home? Suddenly, he realized just how lonely the past two weeks had been. Being forced to act as though nothing was wrong, and that he didn’t desperately want to return home had taken a toll on him. His only release was late at night while sparring with Dream and George, but that only lasted for a few hours. The rest of the time, he had felt completely and desperately alone. So finally having the chance to actually talk to someone felt so relieving.
They sat like that for a long time. Exactly how long, Tommy wasn’t sure. By the time he finally moved, his tears had long since dried.
“So, where are you going to go?” Tubbo asked him.
Right. He had almost forgotten about his banishment. “I’m not sure. I might go and stay with Dream for a bit. I really don’t want to live alone for now.”
“That makes sense. Do you need help gathering your stuff together?”
“I mean, I didn’t exactly have much. But you can come along if you want. I wouldn’t mind the company.”
As the two friends walked back to the small wooden shed, Tubbo couldn’t help but go over the past two weeks in his mind. What he could have done differently. Things that he should have noticed. Ways he could have helped.
“Hey big T, you alright?” Tommy asked as they stepped inside the small building.
“Yeah I’m good. Just thinking.”
“Alright… let me know if you need anything, ok?”
“Yeah. Yeah I will. Thank you.”
~~~
About an hour later, Tommy and Tubbo found themselves knocking on the door of Dream’s base, each of them holding a chest full of items.
“Are you sure this is a good idea? I mean, I know that you trust him, but our Dream did some really messed up stuff…” Tubbo muttered, feeling extremely uneasy about Tommy’s plan of staying with Dream. He knew that it was irrational, especially if Tommy was right about this being a different Dream, but that didn’t exactly do anything to help his anxiety.
“Yeah. I’m not sure what exactly the other Dream did to you guys, but this Dream is a really chill guy, I swear.”
“Ok… I trust you…” he didn’t feel totally sure, but he knew that he trusted his best friend. If Tommy trusted Dream, then so did Tubbo.
The door to the base creaked open, revealing a disheveled man behind it. Tubbo instinctively tensed, unable to shake the feeling of fear. However, a closer look at Dream made it pretty obvious that he wasn’t exactly dangerous. In fact, it looked as though he had just gotten out of bed. His blonde hair was a complete mess, as if he hadn’t been bothered to comb it. Dark circles rested underneath his eyes as he gave them a tired glare. “What do you want?” his voice was sluggish and drowsy.
“Ok I know this is- wait. Did you just wake up? Dude it’s like noon. Why the hell were you still sleeping?” Tommy asked, clearly trying to hold in a laugh.
“Oh I don’t know, maybe because I’ve been staying up until 3 am every day for the past two weeks training?” It was only then that he finally noticed Tubbo’s presence. “Uhhh I mean… Fuck. It's too early for this.” he ran a hand through his already messy hair.
“Yeah Tubbo knows by the way. Kinda the reason why we’re here.”
“Uhh, hi?” Tubbo gave a small little wave, trying to control the fear that was stirring in his gut.
“Jesus christ… alright come on in. You have a lot of explaining to do.”
About 10 minutes later, the three of them sat inside Dream’s base. In Dream’s hands was a vial of blue liquid. As Tubbo and Tommy watched, he poured a few drops into a small bottle of water. “Are you… Are you drinking a speed pot?” Tubbo asked, his voice quiet and nervous. He still didn’t want to anger Dream, despite Tommy’s reassurance that it was fine.
“It’s about the closest thing to coffee I’ve got here,” he said with a deadpan voice. Tubbo just stared at him in confusion.
“Coffee is something that people drink to help wake themselves up in our world. It's bitter and gross and I don’t understand how people like it,” Tommy explained.
“You’re just an uncultured child who doesn’t understand these things,” Dream said as he took a sip of the water.
“And you’re just a bitch,” he grumbled.
Dream rolled his eyes. “So what exactly happened? Why do you have all your stuff with you? Why does Tubbo know about what happened?”
Tommy launched into an explanation as to what had happened earlier that day. His breath caught as he explained what Wilbur had told him, and the way that he had been banished. It hadn’t really sunk in until just then what had happened, and the weight of it all was crashing down on him hard. His eyes started to water, but he hastily brushed away the tears. No. He had already cried enough today. He needed to be focused on a solution. Tubbo placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him. Tommy gave his friend a grateful smile and pushed onwards.
By the time he had finished his story, Dream was looking at him in shock. “Wait so he actually kicked you out?”
“Yeah… Yeah he did.”
“Damn. Ok… I mean, yeah sure you can stay here if you need. Is Tubbo staying here as well?”
“Uh, n-no sir. I was just helping Tommy with his stuff…” He stammered.
Dream let out a laugh “Did you just call me sir? Wow, ok I didn’t realize I was that old”
Tubbo looked down in embarrassment. Right. This was a different person. He needed to remember that. His eyes were fixed upon the small pile of Tommy’s tools and weapons that was in the corner. “S-sorry…” He muttered. Suddenly, his eyes narrowed. “H-hey Tommy? Why is your bow blinking?”
“What?” Tommy’s eyes snapped to the pile. Sure enough, on the grip of his enchanted bow, was a small blinking red light.
~~~
“Dream, I need to ask you a few questions,” Wilbur said into his mic. He had just gotten off the phone with Tommy and Tubbo, and had decided to go directly to Dream for answers.
“Like what?” Dream said in a casual tone.
Despite everything, Will couldn’t help but feel a small sense of relief at his friends voice. It was the first time he had actually spoken to Dream since his disappearance, so hearing his voice again was definitely a weight off his shoulders. “What did you do to Tommy?” He asked, forcing his voice to be calm and even.
A brief pause. “What do you mean?”
Of course Dream would try to play dumb. Wilbur had expected it to be the case. He had prepared for it. “Tommy just told me and Tubbo exactly what happened. I simply want to hear both sides of the story.” Will figured that if Dream was cornered, he would have an easier time admitting to what happened.
Another pause, longer this time. Dream couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. A sadistic smile of excitement stretched across his face. “That little snitch…” he said quietly. “Alright, you know what? I’m feeling generous. You can tell Tommy that he’s got 48 hours before I make my move. 48 hours to try and figure out how to say goodbye.” A low, menacing laugh emerged from Wilbur’s speakers “I look forward to seeing his next course of action is”
“W-what? What the fuck are you on about?”
“The timer is ticking Wilbur. I recommend you start acting.” The call ended.
Wilbur sat in his chair for what felt like forever, trying to figure out what had just happened. Dream had been blackmailing Tommy. He had been threatening something, and Will had very likely just made him follow through with that threat. Fuck. He needed to tell Tommy. He needed to figure out the full story. Quickly, he went in and joined the private call with Tommy and Tubbo.
“Dream said you have 48 hours, Tommy wh- wait, why is Eret here?” He asked. Eret was quickly booted from the call by Tubbo.
“Sorry about that. Tommy wanted to talk with him. What’s up Wilbur?”
“I… I fucked up. I really fucked up. Tommy, I need you to tell me exactly what Dream did. And don’t you fucking dare tell me that you don’t remember.”
“What…? Wilbur what did you do? What did he say?” Tommy asked, his voice frantic. He was still shaken after the exchange with Eret, and Wilbur’s behavior wasn’t exactly helping.
“I don’t know! All he said was that you have 48 hours until he makes his move, and then he left. I figured you would know what he meant.”
“No… No no no this can’t be happening. Fuck…! Fucking hell do you have any idea what you just did Wilbur?! You just fucking killed them all! Everyone! He’s going to fucking kill them now because of you! Tubbo, Will, Fundy, all of them! Everyone I knew and loved is now going to die because of your fucked up curiosity!” He yelled. He couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. If only he had never followed Dream in the first place. Then, none of this would be happening. He would still be at home. His friends wouldn’t be in danger. Everyone would still be safe.
“Tommy, Tommy! Calm down!” Wilbur said, trying to keep up.
That only made the panic worse. Those were the exact same words that Wilbur had told Tommy when he had challenged Dream to the duel. The exact same words that had only served to fuel his rage and anger. All of that rage and anger came flooding back to him. “No! No I’m not going to calm down when the people I care for are about to die because of you! My fucking home is going to be destroyed in a few days because of you!”
“Tommy, no one is going to destroy your house. Take a deep breath”
“I’m not talking about this fucking house!! I’m talking about my world! The world that all of you treat like it’s a fucking game! Well guess what? It’s not a game. There are people living there. People who are just trying to live their lives. People who are sick of living in fear. People like me.”
A silence fell over the call as Tubbo and Wilbur processed exactly what their friend was saying. “What are you talking about…?” tubbo asked softly. His voice was filled with hurt and disbelief, as if he didn’t want to believe what his mind was telling him.
“Do I have to spell it out for you?! I’m not from this world, Tubbo! I’m not the same Tommy that you knew a month ago. That Tommy is gone. And because of you, he’s likely going to die.” He spat out. God, what was he doing? His friends were in danger and here he was, yelling at people that had done nothing but try to help and give support.
Wilbur gasped as the pieces clicked into place. Every strange action, each weird conversation from the past week came back to him. “You’re from the SMP, aren’t you?”
Tommy let out a cry of outrage “Don’t you fucking dare associate my name with the Dream SMP! I didn’t fight in a fucking war just to be grouped in with those bastards. I didn’t risk my fucking life for people to associate me with them!”
“Right, right. I’m sorry. You’re from L’manberg. Not the SMP. My mistake.” Will said immediately. The last thing that he needed was this other Tommy angry at him. Especially if what he said about their Tommy being in danger was true. “God, that makes sense. That makes so much sense. Oh my god that's why you freaked out over the clip of Eret!”
Tommy felt every muscle in his body tense at the name. “What you showed me was a walk in the park compared to what actually happened. He fucking drugged us all, and then Dream came out and taunted us. I still have nightmares about it…”
“Anyways! Maybe we shouldn’t talk about that right now!” Tubbo said hastily. He didn’t want his friend to have another PTSD episode, especially now that he knew why it was so bad. “You uh, you said that Dream was going to do something?”
“Yeah. Yeah I did. So… in this world, my world is just a game that you run on a server, right?”
“Yeah…?”
“It was the same in my world. The entire universe was connected to a single computer that Dream found. With the right command, it could do whatever he wanted. Change memories, create objects out of thin air, hell, even teleportation.”
“Which is how you managed to get here… right?”
“Exactly. Apparently the computer was connected with another computer that he found here. I think it belonged to the other Dream?”
“That makes sense… Dream hosted the server…”
Tommy took a deep breath. “He told me that if I… If I told anyone what had happened he would delete the server. And considering how everything else about my world and this server is connected, I’m about 99% sure that doing so would destroy my world, and kill everyone in it.”

All roads lead to Hell
MC gets kidnapped and has to make their way through Hell to reunite with everyone.
GN!reader x everyone (can be treated as platonic/romantic)
Trigger warnings for this chapter: none
I apologise for the quality of writing however this is a translated version of my fic.
If anyone is interested in that I was listening to Casey tells the truth, the whole Split soundtrack is my big inspiration for this story. I’d advise onto playing it in the background while reading.
Chapter 1 - Prolouge  ⇒
A few candles lit up the room. The gentle light was adding to its already mysterious aura. Solomon’s dorm was filled with all kind of grimoires and spellbooks. The floor was covered with tons of torn-out pages and patterns drawn on a yellowish paper.
Trying out one spell after another MC seemed to grow more and more annoyed. The upcoming exam was one of the most important ones and Solomon’s constant teasing wasn’t the most helpful.
"Focus or you won’t get anything done, MC." The sorcerer stated while leaning against a wall. He wasn’t even trying to hide the amusement in his voice.
"I am focused" They mumbled irritated. It was their ninth try of casting this, so-called easy, spell. A marble laying on the table seemed to look at them pitifully. It was a one bastard piece of glass. Even more irritated MC moved their hand above it once again.
"Neque ultra intuebitur eum" they mumbled. The space around them seemed to start drawing energy towards their hand. A quiet electric buzz filled their ears and they could feel their cheeks heat up. But just as they were about to direct the energy towards the toy it would suddenly unload. The marble remained untouched, and MC could bet that if it was possible it’d poke its tongue at them. Or maybe even raise a very specific finger up. "Neque ultra intuebitur eum!"
Nothing.
"No! It’s impossible! It’s impossible and that’s it! You gave me a broken marble." They grunted and dramatically sat on a chair pouting.
Solomon snickered at them and approached the table. He muttered the words of the spell and the marble was gone immediately.
"Cheater. I bet it was enchanted or something."
"Maybe." He smirked. "Try again."
MC groaned under their breath but stood up again. The sorcerer walked up to them and placed his hand on their arm giving them a reassuring look. "That’s gonna be seriously lame if you fail again tho.”
They replied with a huff and tried to refocus. Closing their eyes, MC began collecting energy again. It was a weird feeling. Suddenly they’d notice that the whole room was in fact like a river full of it. Their task was to change its current toward themself. This spell didn’t require a lot of effort, only a bit of thought. Stronger spells could even sweep someone off with an uncontrolled current.
They’d never admit it but sorcerer’s touch was rather helpful. It made them feel grounded. Goosebumps rose on their hand. They cast the spell again.
"Lame." He chuckled.
"Huh?!” Their eyes shot open searching for the marble but the table was empty. They laughed and playfully punched his chest, making him laugh. "Asshole.”
Content, MC threw themself on the bed as a mark of their victory, Solomon was quick to follow.
"You realize that this was shit compared to regular magic?” watching them struggle was incredibly amusing to him, apparently.
"Like I don’t know" They frowned. He smiled in response and laid back next to them.
The silence of the room, moving flames of the candles and its overall aura was really comforting.
"You should be able to pass the exam tho" he mentioned.
"It’s a lot, you know? Everything." MC wondered.
"I know."
"I just can’t wrap my mind around it.” They began playing with their hair.
"You could do much more without a hassle.” He stated like it was something obvious and leaned on his elbows while looking at them with a smirk.
"Wow, thanks for being an asshole.” They muttered, the hair they were playing with fell on their face.
"A supportive asshole.”
"I’m not sure if I could do more.” They spoke trying to blow the curl off. Hesitation making its way in their voice. "It’s still too new and…”
”Overwhelming?”
"Yeah… Convincing someone that hell is real is one thing but throwing them inside is something else.” They followed gentle shadows of the flames on the ceiling with their eyes.
"Why? You’d prefer a flaming river and little red devils instead of your seven demon boyfriends?”
Both of them laughed at the image of the brothers' with spiked tails and tridents.
"No, I don’t think I would.”
Tumblr media
Empty walls of RAD were enhancing every sound, making every single word echo for a few seconds before disappearing.
"MC, ya comin’ or what?" Mammon was standing at the end of the hallway talking with Beel.
"Just a second!" they screamed while taking stuff out of their locker and putting it in a bag. They were planning on returning to the House of Lamentation as soon as the school day was over to prepare for an exam. But their Devildom History textbook was nowhere to be seen. "Ugh, I left a textbook in the classroom. Wait for me, I’ll go get it!"
"Just hurry up! I’m not explainin’ to Lucifer why we’re late again!"
Tumblr media
The palace garden was full of exotic flowers, nothing like what they’d seen before. The number of colours and shapes worked wonders, some of the plants were gently glowing and lighting up the eternal night. Some had spots and some seemed to move on their own. MC could swear that they could even hear glassy sounds of a few.
"No matter how many times I see those flowers they always amaze me.” Diavolo was lazily examining the garden grounds. "Some of them only grow here. I’m doing what I can to keep them from going extinct. The species come from all of the three realms. That’s why you can spot some familiar ones.” He explained. ”I’m hoping to replant them one day on its original grounds.”
"Thanks to magic?” MC was sipping on some tea.
"Thanks to a good gardener, actually.” Barbatos smiled.
"Oh.” Both men laughed at their confusion.
The quiet evenings in Lord Diavolo’s castle were a nice change from their usual ones. Their small chats quickly turned into a regular thing, always accompanied by a nice tea made by Barbatos.
"Magic definitely helps as well.”
The wind was shyly blowing between the palace columns. Moth-alike creatures were roaming the garden, their wings glooming in the soft darkness.
"I don’t think I can get used to it. The magic.”
"Maybe, it’s a good thing. Living in constant awe of something." The Demon Lord smiled and gave them a soothing look.
They quietly hummed in response.
Tumblr media
Lucky for them, the classroom was open. They entered not bothering to turn the lights on. The lost textbook was waiting for them on their desk. A dark and empty classroom felt really heavy, MC grabbed the book and just as they were about to return to the hallway they noticed an envelope that must have been hidden underneath it.
"What? " They muttered. An elegant paper and a wax stamp made it look important. If not for their name written on the back they’d probably leave it alone in fear of getting hexed or pranked. Instead, curiosity made them break the stamp.
Tumblr media
"Geez, what is taking ‘em so long?" Mammon huffed. They were gone for only a few minutes but making HIM wait was quite an offence.
"Maybe we should go and check on them" Beel mumbled from between his sandwich bites.
"Hm, to get lost on your way for a textbook. Dumb human." Mammon stated annoyed. He was energetically tapping his foot.
"Come on, they probably locked themself in the classroom or something."
Tumblr media
As soon as MC fished the sheet of paper from inside the letter, they started shivering. Cold air began circling them, their vision fading. All the sounds of the world around them suddenly gone. Sudden exhaustion taking over them, an empty void. It was a calm, soothing sensation. Like falling asleep…
Tumblr media
"It’s empty” Beel stated exiting another classroom.
"Ow, come on! They gotta be somewhere ‘ere!" anxiety was slowly making its way in Mammon’s voice.
"Try this one – he pointed at the door on the other side of the hallway."
"If they’re not in the…" a powerful charge of energy went off when he tried to reach for the doorknob leaving both demons in shock for a second.
"MC!" Mammon bailed inside an empty classroom.
Tumblr media
Loud voices filling the House of Lamentation kept the atmosphere tense.
"So they forgot a textbook…" Lucifer tried to keep calm, but his furrowed brows showed how tense he actually was. "…and went to get it…"
"Yeah!"
"…alone." He shot his brother a disapproving look.
A guilty nod.
"So, you went after them and discovered a sudden burst of energy in the classroom." The whole situation was more than inconvenient. It was a tragedy to be specific. An exchange student disappearing on the grounds of the academy. The exact one who couldn’t protect themself from any magic. The foreign trace of a powerful spell didn’t make the situation any better. The eldest took a quick glance across the room.
"We found this." Beel pointed at their textbook laying on the table.
"Are you sure that they just didn’t go somewhere?" Satan uttered.
"I’m tellin’ ya how it went! They’re just gone like that!”
"They sure can’t be far, right?" Asmo’s question was left unanswered.
A motion of loud voices filled the room, everyone discussing what might have happened.
Lord Diavolo approached the table with a stern look on his face. If it was true that something happened to MC while they were at RAD then he was the one at fault for not keeping the academy grounds safe for them. He took the book and examined it. Devildom history. It had MC’s name written on the first page. Nothing appeared to be wrong with it. Just a regular textbook. "It’s just a textbook if anything had to do with their disappearance it couldn’t be it. Is Solomon on his way here?"
"Yes, I called him a while ago he should be here anytime." Lucifer confirmed.
It wasn’t even about the project anymore, MC was missing and it filled all of them with an unpleasant feeling of guilt.
"Can’t Barbatos use his powers and find them?”
The butler sadly shook his head.
What previously was a state of anxiety, now was slowly shifting into a panic whit every passing hour. As long as they were alone in Devildom, they definitely weren’t safe.
"Something happened to MC?!" Luke’s voice caught their attention.
Both angels and Solomon were standing in the entrance to the dining room, looking rather startled.
"We don’t know yet." Diavolo stated calmly.
They joined everyone by the table and Solomon took the textbook. He gave Diavolo a specific look and the demon lord nodded in response. He started studying it.
"Are they safe?! Why aren’t you worried?!" the young angel kept questioning.
"I’m sure that MC’s okay." Simeon’s white lies weren’t exactly suited for an angel.
"Of course, everyone is worried." Belphegor stated irritated. "That’s why we called you!"
Solomon tried to quiet out the rambling and kept examining the book, but just like Diavolo confirmed, there wasn’t anything extraordinary about it. That was unless he opened it and a single sheet of paper fell out.
