I serious don't understand why everyone is assuming Crowley is Levan. If he is, I'm sure Lillia and Malleus would've already found out. Besides, doesn't Crowley have some interaction with Malleus and Lillia wouldn't they of all people would know?

I feel like some of the reasons people subscribe to this theory are

Crowley's actions in general are pretty suspicious, so it seems like he has some sort of hidden goal or motive yet to be explained that could be related to his "true" identity (i.e. accepting a magicless student and a weird cat monster relatively easily into what's supposed to be a prestigious magic school / being relatively useless despite being the headmaster of said prestigious magic school, leaving students to deal with overblots on their own)

He doesn't look human, he's most likely a fae of sorts.

People assume that he is TWST's version of Diablo, Maleficent's raven

Yana is known to pull some moves completely out of left field in her stories (i.e. the twins reveal in Kuroshitsuji)

I don't necessarily follow this theory so I probably missed the most compelling "evidence," but these are the reasons to believe I can think of.

I definitely lean more towards "Crowley is definitely hiding something, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is Levan" because

I agree with the fact that (unless some sort of large scale spell is involved for plot reasons) Lilia should definitely be able to tell if Crowley is his childhood best friend, who presumably died at war.

Maleficent wasn't the only villain with a pet raven. The Evil Queen also had one, and I feel that Crowley himself fits more with her if we look at the colours in his design. There's also the importance twst gives to the Magic Mirror as a magical object and as a motif throughout the game's designs, so it would make sense to have the two be related to each other.

Also, fun fact: as the Evil Queen came first, she served as the blueprint for subsequent Disney Villains including the Queen of Hearts and Maleficent herself. Is not too farfetched to believe that Yana took that into account when deciding on the aspects of the plot (like relating the person who most likely summoned Yuu into twst to her). I mean, look at Pomefiore's cards background vs the curtains in Crowley's office vs the Evil Queen:

Let me get back to the main topic.

I don't really expect that Crowley = Levan, but would I like to see it? Definitely, both for the angst and the absurdity of it. I love to see people enjoy their theories until canon proves them either right or wrong! 🌻

Twst Guys And Hugs

Floyd hugs you frequently, and he does it rather effortlessly too, in the sense that giving physical affection doesn't fluster him all that much. However, if you're the one to give him a hug and he's in the right mood, you might just catch him off-guard. He's not quite using to being on the receiving end of clinginess, I'm afraid.

Leona's pretty clingy if you've garnered his affection. He'll pull you in for a hug while taking a nap a lot of the time. He loves you, and he especially loves it when you're the one hugging him. Not that he'll ever admit it, of course.

Azul simply sticks to wrapping an arm around you; he prefers more gentlemanly forms of affection like kissing your hand or handholding... At first. One day, likely after you've said something particularly meaningful, he finally drops the gentlemanly act around you, and the moment you're in private, he becomes the clingiest thing you've ever seen.

Jade is usually aiming to fluster you with his careful, practiced affection. He's always leaving you a flustered mess, catching you off-guard nigh effortlessly. But then, you figure out just how terrible he is at handling a taste of his own medicine. Afterwards, you get treated to the ordinarily rare sight of a blushing Jade Leech rather often.

Malleus is rather awkward with hugs, admittedly. He's never really had friends to give him them, after all. It's not until you give him a hug one odd day that he realizes how much he enjoys it, the warmth of it all, the security he feels having your arms wrapped around him. Do attempt this more frequently, child of man. He'll attempt to return the favor as much as he can.

Ace doesn't care about that cheesy shit. He doesn't care about affection in the slightest, really! Why's he hugging you so often, then? He's just trying to get a reaction, duh. A-And on a completely unrelated note, it'd be terrible if you got revenge and hugged him back. Just the worst.

Idk if anyone brought this up yet but is Malleus calling Yuu "Child of man" supposed to be a reference to Jesus having the title "Son/Child of man"? There's already a few references to religion in TWST so I'm just curious

... Wouldn't that imply Yuu is some Jesus-like figure in the narrative 😭 when they don't actually do that much/j Personally, I don't think that's the case! The strongest religious themes that I can glean are featured in an event that isn't tied to the main story, Glorious Masquerade (it makes sense given the source material and is vague enough to not be in reference to one specific religion, though the same sense of general spirituality is still there). I don’t know if the devs would intentionally include religious ideas when it is specifically aimed at the player character when it doesn't really serve a purpose there (especially when this would be putting a spotlight on a few specific religions, ie the ones with Jesus in them, over others) and could potentially alienate non-religious fans or fans who follow religions that don't include Jesus at all. It is for these reasons that I think the "child of man" thing is just a quirk of Malleus's completely unrelated to religion. It’s a pretty common trope in fiction for non-human creatures to refer to humans as “children of man”. However!! I do think that you can still read the text that way if you wish. (I asked a religious friend of mine and they reported that they did see the phrase as an allusion to Jesus.) Maybe I just don't see the religious aspect of it because I'm not religious myself. Part of why TWST is great is because it can have mass appeal and many different interpretations depending on the player/fan, so honestly I'd encourage you to not take my opinion as fact. Everyone is allowed to see the story and its characters however they wish! Brief aside, as I've mentioned in an older post, "child of man" is not actually a nickname Malleus exclusively grants to Yuu. It is not given capitalization (which would make it a proper noun referring only to a specific individual, say “the Chief of Police” or “Principal [Name here]”) meaning the term is not meant for Yuu and Yuu alone. Additionally, Malleus is shown to also use the term to refer to groups of humans—and this is what I believe the intended use of the phrase is. It ("child of man") is actually a general noun to refer to other non-fae beings, whether a single one (be it Yuu or other characters) or multiple people. Note how Malleus uses “a” before “child of man”, implying there is more than one, rather than Yuu being the only one. I think part of this confusion comes from some fans who do use child of man as a proper noun ("Child of Man") or treat it as a special nickname Malleus gives to Yuu. So if the Jesus thing were hypothetically intentional, then every non-human is Jesus/j

idia as the mastermind. it's one of those things you wouldn't expect because he's a bit of a,,, loser. no one thinks he's capable of doing anything because he's just so anxious and awkward. ortho as monokuma is also a funny thing to picture, but it kind of makes sense???? ortho tells everyone to do their best!!! peace and love!!! he's rooting for all of the nrc students!! do your best!! :D his optimism is so eerie amidst the morbid reality of a killing game.

azul who murders someone in cold blood, proceeds to get caught up in his web of lies and is therefore exposed at the trial, and he has such an explosive, angry breakdown. it's the first time anyone has ever seen his carefully crafted businessman façade crack. he's normally so eloquent and polite, but now he's screaming and crying and gripping the stand so hard that the wood is splintering. very scary tako... >_<

jade who remains eerily calm throughout the trial, even when he's revealed to be the blackened. he just keeps smiling so calmly, seemingly unfazed, but the veneer does falter slightly when he has to part with floyd. :( floyd's in shambles following his execution and he makes it his mission to protect you even more so he won't lose you, too. but then i also feel like jade wouldn't kill anyone???? he picks and chooses his battles, weighs the risk-reward ratio, and he ranks everyone in his mind by level of threat. on one hand it's fun to imagine he gets away with the perfect murder (or he doesn't), but on the other he's smart and cutthroat enough to survive without getting killed or doing any killing. azul's similar in this regard, but i just want tako to have his meltdown. >:) ultimate businessman? more like the ultimate crybaby.

jamil would kill kalim, but that would be much too easy and he'd be a prime suspect in the investigation. he probably goes after someone completely unrelated to him. someone like cater maybe. he catches him when he least suspects it. he's good at remaining composed under pressure, but in the end it's kalim who unintentionally rats him out. T_T kalim is heartbroken and actually suggests he be executed in jamil's place, but everyone else thinks he's absolutely insane (and much too selfless). jamil's more angry that it was kalim who, even when he's at the end of his life, managed to overshadow him yet again.

silver survives solely because he keeps falling asleep and he's been mistaken for dead one too many times now. likewise, i think the rest of the survivors would be riddle (even in a killing game, he beats azul lol), leona, jack, floyd, rook, malleus, and lilia. although truthfully anyone could be swapped out in this list. nrc students are resilient and ruthless when they need to be, so anyone could qualify for the survivors list. it's just a matter of how desperate they are to do so and how mentally strong and patient they can be as the killing game wears on.

When I first started playing TWST, all I knew was: MALLEUS HOT.

And I remember being confused when I started playing through the prologue, saying, "wait, Malleus is also the headmaster???" "that's Malleus!" I even cross referenced right then and there a photo of Malleus to the headmaster and took note of how they had the same exact hair and ears.

I was like, uh, okay, kind of weird that they're trying to hide that Malleus is the headmaster, cause it's obvious to me, but whatever.

Then I realized they were actually two completely separate people and supposed to be completely unrelated to each other.

And then book 7 happened.

I did it!!!!! After (nearly) 2 years of putting it off—

I finally beat Book 6 of TWST. Just last night too, yesterday I was grinding trying to collect blended drinks for the Cloudcalling event, collecting text books to level up my spells—force feeding these boys vials, jARS AND JUGS OF HONEY!!🍯

Spending gems, waiting for birthdays, just to get keys to spend on pulls, getting duplicates (getting frustrated from said duplicates), but then it happened:

It was after Stitch's event (which I was only able to get Riddle and Ace from the pulls), and they were doing Silver's showcase. I was going to pull for his cards but I had a gut feeling NOT to do that.. and I'm glad I did! I didn't have an SSR Leona card before but I do now— and since his duo magic is with Vil (Which I have the Dorm Uniform of him, spell levels 5 flora/6 cosmic respectively) my focus immediately went to Leona to grind and level him up as best as I could. I got him to level 46 and spell levels up to 3/4 (not bad but not good either but that didn't stop me) and groovied his card!

But back to the story: I guess I regained some confidence after getting him and decided to try again on the Storyline, to take on Sector Six and get the key cards from the phantoms AND I COMPLETELY DOMINATED (with a couple hiccups along the way but I never gave up ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧)!

With the rush and high on winning (Feeling like Hercules), I took on OB!Idia and P!Ortho acting like it was either success or failure that I faced (getting too into the story lol-)!

And my lovelies (≧ヮ≦) 💕— I finally did it, all three battles.. I finally won! ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ

I was getting a little choked up as I read the aftermath (made sure to avoid any major Book 6 spoilers for 2 whole years, don't ask how I did it idk how I did it either 🤣), I felt so accomplished, like a roadblock was lifted.. now I can finally move on to Book 7: The Lord of Malevolence~ oooooh~...! AGH, I'M JUST SO HAPPY YALL!!!! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡

Something has occurred to me.

So if there's one thing people should know about me, it's that instead of taking notes in class, I like thinking about my interests and letting my brain take me places. And one of these places my brain took me today was "HEY! what if I sorted all of my friends into Twisted Wonderland Dorms?" and, of course, I decided to re-read/look up what the virtues that the different dorms embody were and I noticed something really interesting that I really didn't really think about before related to Savanaclaw and Pomefiore in particular...

Depending on where you're reading it (in game, translation, wiki, etc.), Savanaclaw will represent the spirit of the King of Beasts' Tenacity OR Persistent Spirit (or Indomitable Spirit) and Pomefiore will represent the spirit of the Beautiful Queen's Unrelenting (Persistent.) Efforts OR Tenacity (or Spirit of... Encouragement? This is just a pre-post addendum from a quick reread of the original JP text and a run of one or two unfamiliar words through everyone's favorite google translate [which is not great ik but bear with me])

Some screenshots from the fandom Wiki, the wiki.gg, and both the english and JP versions of the game (I did not. put translations on the images, but the 不屈の精神 in the one for Savanaclaw translated to "indomitable spirit" and 奮励の精神 came out to "spirit of encouragement". Please note that I am not an expert in speaking Japanese, I just happen to be learning it, so please feel free to correct me or provide suggestions if I am wrong).

This leads me to wonder: These two dorms embody basically the same virtue and yet are often kind of pitted as opposites from one another - Savanaclaw is the dorm full of jocks and muscleheads, whereas Pomefiore is the preppy fashion dorm (simplified for my own sake). On top of this, we know that TWO of our three Pomefiore characters, namely Rook and Epel, have some kind of relation to Savanaclaw, with Rook having transferred to Pomefiore from Savanaclaw in his first year after meeting Vil, and Epel having a strong desire to have been placed in Savanaclaw instead of Pomefiore.

It could be argued that Jack and Vil also have a connection to the other dorm, since they've at least been acquainted since childhood, but I don't think it ties into their character narratives nearly as much as Rook's and Epel's connections do, so I'm not really worried about them right now.

But this all kind of brings me to my point - With how both dorms are kind of shown as complete opposites despite having the same virtue, what exactly is the key differnce? My personal theory so far (I plan on rereading Books 2, 5, and parts of the prologue, 1, and 6, as well as related vignettes, so I could very well be wrong. Again, I'm writing this and thinking about this in a class rn instead of taking notes.) is that the main difference in how each dorm views power to be used TOWARDS meeting their goals. To rephrase: What is the main method by which one obtains the power to achieve their goals? With Savanaclaw, it's raw strength as power, whereas with Pomefiore, it's beauty and appearances as power.

It's probably stupidly obvious for me to say that because like it IS, but like. I still want to really get into that specific like. I dunno. Is that the ONLY key difference, though? Or are there other ways by which the members of these dorms embody their virtue that differ? Does this hold a deeper meaning for characters with those connections?

I'm basically rambling at this point, but like if anyone has some specific parts they'd like to point to as examples, I'll gladly take them! I love twst and just generally would like to be able to engage with it as a story on a deeper level. I already have a few vignettes in mind (like Epel's and Vil's ceremonial robes vignettes) for looking into, as well as the aforementioned points in the story.

Random Update Ramble

Bah, I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus. Feel like I can’t quite come back until I catch up on everything I missed.

So I’m still hiatusing? Still on a hiatus I guess. I got to make Bobo’s birthday card stuff. At least the birthday jacket. (I also want to find a new style for drawing humans where I’m not hating the process and anatomy of humans the entire time.)

But for now, I have a question for how to go about spelling something. I have a nickname Bobo has for one of her parents basically based from said parent repeating the word “you” whenever speaking to baby Bobo due to being overwhelmed by how adorable Bobo’s parent found her.

So Bobo basically calls that parent “you-you”, but I don’t want to spell it like that. What would be a good way to spell that nickname?

“Yuyu”? “Ueue”?

I feel like I’m nearly at the right spot with meds but otherwise I still gotta look at Artrage for its tos in regard to downloading its apps to multiple computers. I vaguely recall it being basically only to one computer, so I want to recheck that to see if it clarifies for when a user gets a new computer or has access to multiple or whatever.

I should probably keep going with the version I have until it can’t work anymore then upgrade since Artrage doesn’t give announcements to when it’ll be bringing out a new version. I feel like they could bring out a new version soon as it looks like they have a rough pattern of every four years and it’s near that mark.

I would like to go with a free program but the ui of artrage is so simply nice and I feel like I have other things to be picking small fights over than trying to find an ui that doesn’t overwhelm me. I don’t feel like I use all that artrage provides to justify its price tag which annoys me, but again I just don’t want to deal with trying a bunch of different programs. Though I will have to when I want to animate, but I’ll continue to push that off for now.

A part of me is worried of my current version dying and thus being unable to grab the files to continue them. So I haven’t been drawing partly because of that. I also need to check if I can transfer files to newer versions or if I’m going to need to complete them first.

I meant to check that like a month ago, but I’ve been working to find a better medicine so I’ve had a stretch of not wanting to deal with anything.

Worried I won’t get Bobo’s birthday twst card done this month. I want to at least write canon event (canon as in her story, not some canon twst thing) of her seeing her idol for the first time which I don’t remember the name.

I still have some stuff to finish designing before I make the introductory post about the Mycelind Kingdom, such as lizard designs, goat designs, and maybe more creatures… heck I need to make a list for that.

Also curse that my mind wanting to post something because I’m failing to sleep but I don’t have anything really to post.

Also I think of that a lot. Imagine:

Crowley invites all the Housewardens and Vices to his office, and for once you are included. He tells you the news and everyone is surprised that he actually managed to do something for once. Crowley just called in the others so they can announce to their dorms that you are leaving, Kalim offers to throw you a farewell party.

Crowley then asks the mirror to show how your home is right now. The mirror ripples before a harrowing image is shown. An entire planet cracked open and destroyed. It must be a mistake you think. But then it starts to zoom in. You see your childhood home amongst the ruins of the world, dilapidated and empty, but there's no denying it's your home. The bodies of your fellow people along the street make your stomach churn as you stare.

Crowley coughs, then orders the mirror to shut off for your sake. Your whole body shakes at the realization. You hate everyone's pitiful gazes.

AAAAA i REALLY loved 'to the other side' !! i havent read much of your works (i'd like to read more when i have time, especially of rollo hehe) but WOW its so good 😭 the writing style (?) is very fun to read and its like every sentence has an impact on the fic (like it gets better with each sentence?)

the doctor diagnosis part was amusing too! i recently rewatched pinocchio bc of twst and it was a really fun scene to watch~ (this is. completely unrelated but i was surprised at just how many similarities there were between fellow and honest john like phrases or clothing details)

(I recently counted, and I’ve written over 2400 pieces, whether short interactions or long full-fledged fics, for TWST now…) The Rollo interactions have been some of my favorites to do, I’m very happy with those ^^

chisvsjekd You had fun reading the fic? 😌 Then Fellow’s UM must be working on you… Watch out, he’s gonna nab ya for Playful Land— When writing, I tried to capture the essence of crescendoing music from the songs The Greatest Show and The Other Side. They both start soft and progressively grow louder until BOOM there’s an explosion of sound and spectacle. I wanted my fic to invoke a similar feeling, even when it’s just the characters standing around and talking.

I actually haven’t gotten around to watching Disney’s Pinocchio in myself so I had ZERO context going in who Honest John and Gideon were. I referenced some clips of them on Youtube to help me visualize their mannerisms and then superimpose them over Fellow’s and Gidel’s. (It makes sense, given that Fellow and Gidel are twisted from those two!) That’s how I came across the diagnosis scene. I thought it fit so well with Rollo’s Forever Alone and Mad About It personality, so incorporating the diagnosis scene in was so easy to do!

◦ It depends on what you consider to be “Flirty and touchy,” but I can assure you. He’s not going to like it at all. Leona hates physical touch, even if you’re a friend of his. It doesn’t give you permission to walk up and start touching him across his chest or try to pet his ears or pat his head. Stop. No.

He’ll viscously snap at you, “What makes you think you can come up and touch me? ‘Because you’re a friend?’ Please herbivore. It’s pathetic. Do that again, and I’ll turn you to sand.” Leona has always made his personal boundaries very well-known, and if someone crosses them, he’ll probably have that person be on the “I will avoid at all costs” list.

◦ If you consider constant innuendoes, touching any part of his person. That’s a no-go, but if you’re giving him endless compliments or checking him out before he got enough of your crossing boundaries, he’d be cocky because that’s the thing. He knows he’s hot. Leona knows he is handsome. Everyone, even Vil, calls the Savannaclaw leader stunning. But he also has a limit to this, so you better be conscious of his boundaries.

◦ If you understand that’s crossing his boundaries and change to stop touching him and saying flirty things, he might stop ignoring your entire existence and might find your presence tolerable again. But if you don’t, he’ll leave in the dust, and Ruggie will help him get you away.

◦ Have you seen this man’s face? Have you seen this man’s desire to keep his reputation as pristine and untouched as snow? He’ll be highly prickly if you get up in his space and touch his face. That’s a no-no space. He’ll have to put his skin products on his face because he’d die if there were acne.

He’d be one to appreciate it if you call flirting, giving him genuine heartfelt compliments. Vil hates meaningless words to get his heart flutter, and he sees through those shallow words. But if you don’t? Vil will also ignore your complete existence and good luck with coming anywhere near the dorm leader now that his hunter is well informed. Rook will act as Vil’s eyes and ears, ensuring you’re at a respectable distance away. If not, if you don’t stop touching him and waltzing up to him, be careful. This hunter will protect his Queen’s beauty.

◦ How would you even be able to get relatively close to him, act touchy and be flirty? It was a genuine surprise to Idia that you’d kept up with him. ◦ I’m sorry to say, but if you stopped and started to respect his boundaries after months of him avoiding you and ignoring your existence. Nothing will really change. He’s hurt, distrustful, and bitter towards you. You’ll have to work overtime to prove you’d changed actively. Even then, Ortho still keeps an eye out for you and scowls at you. Idia can hold century-long grudges and the best way to avoid this outcome is to respect his personal space and comfort level.

◦ Malleus is someone that he isn’t used to physical touch, and he’s a little sheltered in the flirty department. But he’s not stupid if you make overly sweet or suggestive comments towards him and touch him. He’s a little confused like Vil. He thought you were friends, nothing more? Is this how certain humans greet and strengthen bonds?

But when you tell him that’s how you are, he tries to understand, but Sebek jumps in and acts as a guard dog. He doesn’t like how you display yourself towards the Lord. Nor does he have anything good to say about your potential intentions. Sebek has a distaste towards humans and how manipulative they can be. You’re no exception. Actually, you’re put on high alert in Sebek’s book. While Silver isn’t as overbearing with his protective behavior towards his Prince, the second year gets stunned about how you act with the future king of a nation.

◦ Malleus will have objections if your touches wander, telling you that you ought to stop, because not only for his social status but for potential backlash if anyone sees a human openly touch the prince. The royal family is expected to have a certain air of regalness, untouchability, sophistication, power, and authority.

If word came, his people would slowly start to feel like their prince wasn’t taking his reputation and responsibility seriously. Not to mention how the royal court would react. While some members became slightly more tolerable of human and high-court Fae relations, it would still be shocking.

◦ But if you start to press onward and disregard all of Malleus’, Sebek’s, and Silver’s words and continue touching and flirting with the Lord. Malleus will become annoyed and less amused as time goes on. Your blatant ignorance floors the dorm leader. But at this time, Malleus will stop trying to seek you out for his reputation, and while he’s not uncomfortable, he doesn’t feel respected when he’s with you anymore. He knows he should be respected and feared, but this wasn’t exactly what he wished.

Lilia might step in on one of your persistent visits to the dorm, telling you to stop. While Lilia’s quite a long-range caretaker when it comes to Malleus, he still keeps an eye on him and is protective over his Princeling. But Lilia, while suspicious of your whole being alongside Sebek, the vice dorm leader, will give you a sliver of slight chance to show your change. If not, you’re not going anywhere near the royal.

i would like to ask; do you think it’s racist to ‘change’ a fictional character’s race?

for example, this fictional anime character is Asian, but i often see people coloring their manga panels as black.

i am not looking for fights or discourse, just genuinely wondering. personally i do think it’s racist (i’m a poc as well) because by doing so they are literally disrespecting the character’s race and even going as far as letting them say the n word because they ‘colored them as black’.

What an interesting question. Well, I'd say it depends on the situation...

I saw rumours of that The Little Mermaid live-action remake that's supposed to come out in 2023 (the idea of remaking that movie is even more stupid than the previous live-action remakes were tbh... like bruh have fun with the under-the-water setting) with Ariel being played by a black actress, which kind of confused me. That's mostly because 1. I absolutely hate Disney's live-action remakes, and 2. me wondering why they simply can't make new and cool characters of various ethnicities instead of changing an already existing character's race. Like,, I want new movies of cool characters of all kinds of ethnicities instead of Disney rehashing the same old stories again and again, most of the times in a lackluster way 😔

It's a sensitive topic tho, and I'm aware of that. Also,, there's this musical at my school the 5th graders are gonna perform and it's about Martin Luther King. The problem is the following: Will you only let a black child play Martin Luther King or will you let a white child play him too? I actually don't know what to think about this, lol; it's a strange topic to suddenly pick if all the previous musicals were kept in a childish tone without much of an underlying message too.
