… The Furies have always upheld their damned duties of guarding their gated territories against the foolish and wayward seeking a glimpse of the Surface. I am not overly informed on Father's current line-up, as often as the Furies have changed to his whims, but Edward is a familiar—even if mean—face. He and I go back a century or so, when I stole one of his shields to use for lava sliding. Admittedly, that was not my smartest first impression, given how ruthless he is with his spear and sorcery during battle. He is not without reason, however, and honors his personal motto of "equivalent exchange". He respects competence and confidence, and nothing has yet to excite him like a challenge in battle. He deeply resents his father, the primordial Aether, for abandoning him and his brother in their time of need—a sentiment I empathize with. His serpentine features are an unfortunate result of Dante's jealous cursing, but, personally, I find them quite endearing. I remain hopeful that, with time, he will learn to see that perspective as well.

did you use any particular inspiration for the names in gehenna? it's very cool feeling what's familiar and then going 'oh omg that guy'

but seriously its not much deeper than that, I just followed tazs lead and used the bible/greek mythology/latin for basically any proper noun. lemme break em down

Gehenna (The New Testament Greek word “gehenna,” usually translated as “hell,” refers to the way God's justice will deal with evil in the world. Gehenna comes from the Hebrew phrase “gey' hinnom,” which means the “valley of wailing.”)

Mikael (It's a diminutive of the Hebrew name Michael, meaning "who is like God" In the Christian Bible, Michael was an archangel and is referred to in the Old Testament as the protector of Israel.)

Saul (It was typical for the Jews of that time to have two names: one Hebrew, the other Latin or Greek. Jesus called him "Saul, Saul" in "the Hebrew tongue" in the Acts of the Apostles. They're Jewish in this I made an executive decision)

This is a part of the story that I’m writing (:

I just felt like I needed to post something not whumptober related so here :3

My stomach was full. This is my favorite part of the Everlasting Day festival. I loved eating food from different regions. And then there was the Kingdom of Dionysus, who always had something new to try.

The bad part was, it was, as the king/my step dad would say, ‘improper’ to get a second plate. It’s not my fault that food is addictive.

My leg bounced as I contemplated getting up to get another plate. Did all of the houses get their plates? How would it look if the host got their second plate first? I grumbled quietly.

My step father patted my back hard, making me yelp. “Isn’t that right, Dante?”

“Of course!” I said, possibly a little too quickly.

“Come on Oscar! The boy wasn’t even listening!” Dominic, the current king of Posidon’s kingdom nudged at the king of Thanatos’s kingdom, Oscar, my step father.

We were all sitting with our families. And, since the Kingdom of Thanatos was hosting the festival this year, our king went to the podium to address this year's elephant in the room.

“We are ecstatic to have as many guests as we do today, but we are missing one.”

The cafeteria grew silent with his words. We all knew what he was talking about. Who he was talking about.

“It matters not of another kingdom’s reckless endeavors. No matter how much that kingdom wants to ruin our festival, it will not come to pass.” King Oscar turned to the table that the Kingdom of Dionysus’s royal family sat at and gave them a solemn nod. “May your god guide you well in these times.”

Hums were heard coming from around the room. And, to be honest, I felt remorse for the Kingdom of Dionysus. First there was the D-Z War and now this. They needed a break. Plus, Ashton is trying his best. You try being a king at seventeen and having to deal with a war.

He deserves so much better.

He’s always been my step father’s example. “A king will lead his kingdom through thick and thin” and he once said “Being a king is like marrying your kingdom. You are to protect your kingdom until the day you die.”

Ashton curtly nodded back, his brown curls bouncing slightly. His piercing violet eyes seemed mostly unbothered by King Oscar’s statement.

Many of the houses began to speak up. The King was quick to pound his gavel and call for quiet. “The Kingdom of Zeus has betrayed the treaty our kingdoms signed so many years ago. The next question is: What do we do with them?”

“I say we take away their access to tomatoes. Then they can't make their precious tomato soup,” Astor, the king of the House of Aether, remarked. Around the room, many chuckled at his statement.

“That would only be an inconvenience,” King Dimitri of the House of Ares said, “We could make their clocks three hours late and make those cloud heads sleep through their religious sunrise.”

I snorted. “And I’m sure Dante would love to be the lead corporate,” Dimitri snickered.

“That, I would.”

“You’ve had something against Sarah ever since she gave you that book for your birthday. What was it about anyway?” A friend, Andrew of the House of Apollo, asked.

I turned to the table where Andrew sat. “The book that girl gave me was titled: Depression for Delusionists.”

Some were snickering, others went “oh”. Even the king atop the podium cracked a smile.

“That was eight years ago!”

“She’s an a-”

“Dante,” King Oscar interjected.

“Sorry.” I turned back around and faced forward on my seat. King Oscar cleared his throat.

“Excuse him.” King Oscar straightened his posture. “That is something we kings will discuss later. As of now, we all need to stick together as our forefathers did. If we let the Kingdom of Zeus split all of us, region by region, who would’ve won?”

The room went quiet for only a second. “King Oscar is right,” The face of the Region of Hades, King Seth, spoke. For being only one year older than me, his stone act was solid. It showed no weakness. “With the treaty from a century ago, it states that, if war were to break out between the regions, the region your House is in, is the region you fight for. Either you fight for the head of that region, The Houses of Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades, or you don’t fight at all.”

“That automatically puts the Houses of Ares, Iris, Pandia, Eos, Apollo, Hermes, Zephyr, Tyche, Boreus, and Athena off the roster,” I added.

Seth hummed. “After that, it’s up to the rest of the Houses if they choose to risk all-out war,” Seth’s voice stayed level, yet I knew that his head was buzzing by the dazed look in his eyes as he stared forward.

“King Seth is correct, as always,” My step-father said. “Also, I don’t believe heists are necessary, King Dimintri.”

It’s not the beginning or the end, it’s like dead center:)

......OKAY SO, i swear to god this is the most self indulgent shit but I gotta give a teensy bit of context first.

Surkie goes into enw as effectively a drk+rpr since rpr for her is more of an augment onto her preexisting classes? She doesn't use a rpr jobstone nor does she have a proper avatar, as she kind of just got dragged to Drusilla after she summoned a voidsent into her. That voidsent was Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, something she'd actively researched and sought out due to his supposed status as one of the very first voidsent who might have sympathy to her plight to restore the void with Cylva.

This is Diarmuid, btw:

His size is very fluid and he just kinda hangs out in Surkie's head. He's got a more humanoid form that looks like a devil trigger out of DMC and remembers what he used to look like as a mortal, but that's not something he ever shows to anyone.

Reaper is a compromise between him and Surkie due to their vastly different fighting styles (her being a drk main, him...well when he was alive he often used a sword and a spear in tandem with each other and had two sets so 4 weapons in total, the tails kinda echo back to that). So while Surkie is still dominantly a drk, stuff involving Diarmuid involves summoned scythes and whatnot since them learning something together was better than trying to find a balance between existing styles.

This is all to say that at the end of enw, in order to keep her alive, Diarmuid ends up partly fusing with Surkie to get her back to the Ragnarok, and they're kinda stuck together now. She's half voidsent now, it's fucked her up fundamentally, he's stuck on the Source, and now Surkie has a Devil Trigger.

Like. Seriously. It's in part designed after Diarmuid and his humanoid form, but also in part inspired by her dark knight glam from post stb-enw, which ends up getting destroyed - which is this set below, main piece being the Behemoth King top. Reason being is the Sin DT forms are based on suits of armor, with Dante's being more european armor while Vergil's is clearly samurai armor.

She lost this armor set at the end of ENW after it kind of became her identity. It got worn down from how she channels aether - which she wasn't even aware of doing, but it was what in part destroyed her first and favorite spear, nearly destroyed her Captain's naginata, and then decimated her armor. Granted, what dealt the final blow was the fight against Zenos, but her aether warped the plate so heavily that it was unsalvageable. It's what ends up leading to her post enw look with the Troian gear, which was tailored specifically to her insane and uncontrollable aether.

But this also means it's easy for her to suddenly swap into that voidsent form/DT.

She gets a hang of slipping in and out of it and she winds up fighting MOST OF THE 6.X BOSSES ON HER OWN. Initially it was just because I'm Fucking Gay and I wanted her and Barbariccia to go one on one (*COUGHS*), but then it led into her being the only one to take on Rubicante, and then ofc it just fit to have her go after Golbez on her own. As that DT. Rest of the team joins her for Zeromus, but regardless she still just went stupid crazy DT form against these guys and walked out of it alive.

..............................................................................and this form is also responsible for an uh. Incident. that results in their fifth child, Tseren, whose bio parents are surkie and ysayle.

and they don't learn about this until the Rubicante fight where Ysayle was going to get involved in the fight, but he refused to fight her on the grounds of her. yknow.
