So like, forever ago (over half a year ago), I was working on updated queer and neurodivergence headcanons (updating the first two drawings and making two more), but then never posted them because I never finished the fourth drawing, and TOH also stopped being my fixation and I stopped making stuff for it-

Just figured I'll post these as they are, ft. a third of the final drawing, since that's all I ever completed.

My Willow Park hcs

She/they trans woman

Does not have freckles naturally but thinks they're really cute so she gives herself them through the power of magic and makeup (sometimes she makes the freckles white or heart shaped to mix it up a bit)

Has a really cute fashion sense and adores long skirts

Very sentimental and have a box of little trinkets from their childhood that they were really sad to lose. One of the first things she did when they all got stuck in the human realm was find a shoe box and start a new one to add to the old when they got home.

Always had problems with low self esteem and a fear of losing friends, that it took them awhile to realize that friends like Gus and Luz will love her unconditionally and will always be there for her.

Luz made the mistake of introducing Willow to Pinterest and they are LIVING. Their boards are just full of aesthetic images of her living the life (with a bit of Gus's illusion magic to help out). Waking up at dawn to work out, make a smoothie, and drink tea at an aesthetic bookshop type beat.

my headcanons and explanations:

with amity i headcanon her as trans female and as for the hair I didn't really like how short her bangs were in the show

also shes like the only one who wears mascara

with hunter i headcanon her as trans female as well! i imagine she likes her hair to be super long but it cant be at that specific length where it reminds her of belos and caleb

she has trouble keeping her hair healthy and brushed so she just keeps it up most of the time in the human realm

with willow i dont have a lot of headcanons for them

just that shes a demigirl and pan, and just really likes jewelry with flowers on them (for obvious reasons)

with gus i like to think he wears eyeliner because it simply makes him happy! also he 100% trips a lot which is why theres mud on his elbows

probably fell backwards into a puddle

with luz i headcanon that theyre genderfluid biromantic asexual so i added the genderfluid and asexual pin onto her beanie! i also like to think his hair grows fairly fast so i made their hair just the smallest bit longer

shared headcanons:

luz and amity have patches on a bunch of their sweaters and coats that say L + A or A + L

amity and hunter do each others makeup in the morning (aka just eyeliner and lip gloss mostly)

they all have at least one patch on a piece of clothing because both luz and hunter are obsessed with sewing

Luz & Gender

It’s no secret that I read/interpret Luz as not being cis, but I wanted to make a post about the elements in canon that support that idea.

I’ll mention one thing at the start though, and it’s that I don’t like when people use her design/appearance/gender non-conformity as “proof”. Dressing a certain way or having certain haircuts isn’t indicative of gender identity, someone can be very gender non-conforming while still being fully and completely cis.

I’d like to list some things I think are much better reasons for reading her as not cis/non-binary.

I) The Theme of Choices

One of the themes in Luz’s story is how she feels like she has to make choices that she doesn’t really want to make - like choosing a single Track when she enrolls in Hexside, choosing which realm she will stay in, or choosing what her palisman will be - but ultimately discovers that she doesn’t have to choose, or can choose multiple things, like choosing all Tracks in Hexside and later all majors in college, being able to freely travel between the realms through the new portal, and carving an egg to let her palisman choose its own form, with that palisman then hatching as a snake-shifter who, while having a base form, isn’t bound to that form.

This theme of not actually having to choose only one thing also reflects Luz’s neurodivergence, bisexuality, and gender non-conformity. And in a non-binary reading of her, it would also reflect her gender identity, not having to choose a single binary gender.

And this fits with any label, it could be non-binary, genderqueer, bigender, genderfluid (my personal headcanon), demigirl, pangender, etc. She can even use multiple labels, choosing more than one thing once again.

The rest of the points here are smaller things that I think hint at her gender identity not being cis, or that could be interpreted as such.

II) This book in Camila’s room:

It’s titled “Life Ain’t Binary”, which might imply that either Luz, Vee or both are non-binary. The word choice feels deliberate, especially given that there’s another book titled “Parenting LGBTQ”, which we can see when Luz comes in:

And underneath it is a book titled “Always My Child”, likely also on the topic of raising a queer kid.

(While making this post, I noticed that the first book actually says “LGRTQ”, which- Is this Disney censorship, a joke poking fun at censorship, or just a mistake?)

[Edit]: I’ve been told that “Life Isn’t Binary” is actually a real book! And the book is about both bisexuality and “non-binary gender experiences”. Bisexuality was my other interpretation of what the book could have been referencing, and turns out both of my interpretations were correct!

III) This outfit:

The purple and white shirt + green pants combo looks very similar to the genderqueer flag.

Now, genderqueer doesn’t have to mean non-binary or trans, it’s an umbrella term that includes anyone who “queers” their gender, regardless of gender identity, and can be used for both binary (cis or trans) and non-binary people.

However, the label is sometimes used interchangeably with non-binary. It can be used both as a gender identity on its own and as an umbrella term.

IV) This moment from ‘Enchanting Grom Fright’:

Luz called herself a bad boy.

V) The Egg

In the trans community, an “egg” is used as a metaphor for people who haven’t realized they’re trans yet, and them finally realizing they are is referred to as “cracking their egg”. Even if the egg wasn’t intentionally written to reference that, it can still be read/interpreted as an allegory.

Luz Noceda: Luz is obvi staying with Amity for the rest of her life. Luz is hardcore gnc, and legit uses any pronouns. He slays. They’re still bisexual :)

Amity Blight: Amity is a cis girl that’s a lesbian. I Like it that way. I know lots think of Amity as transfemme or demigirl, and I like those ideas, I really just want a cis queer like Amity :) (also she’s Maybe demisexual)

Willow Park: DEMIGIRL PANSEXUAL. THATS WHAT I AM SAYING. Huntlow forever ♾️

Gus Porter: I’d say bisexual, or maybe omnisexual. I can’t decide if I want Gus to end up with Matt. I think it would be cute, but I like him as he is. I’m not touching what I don’t know, but I think Gustholomule is cute ❤️ Cis dude

Hunter Noceda/Deamonne: Cis, bi-curious. 100% had a mini crush on somebody in the Emperors Coven, and since he never was allowed to interact, he never knew if it was boy or girl.
