Dazai's heard of the cafe in passing, and the staff are a bit odd, but he's used to maid cafes, butler cafes, and other themed restaurants, so he doesn't really blink when this extremely pale redhead with piercing blue eyes comes to serve him. Dazai sees the nametag read, Chuuya, and he quips that he likes Chuuya's getup — Chuuya's in a nice button-down with slacks, but it's almost 8pm and he's also wearing a hat and...sunglasses? or tinted glasses of some sort. the sun's just about setting, and the lights are soft and low in the cafe, so Dazai just thinks him eccentric. if anything, Chuuya could use some sun

Dazai asks for recommendations because he's never been there before, and Chuuya starts off with saying that their ingredients are all fresh, locally-sourced, and made in-house. he recommends a Bloody Mary for a drink to go with the grilled chicken panini Dazai was eyeing, and Dazai goes with it. he wasn't really in the mood for drinking that night, but he could use some loosening up because he's getting too in his head about the strange staff, how cold it is when it's almost winter, and the knowing smile with the twinkle in the eyes Chuuya gave him when he asked about those ingredients

the ketchup bottle on the table seems expired. it's coming out thick, in clots, and Dazai decides he doesn't want any on his panini. as he's eating, he overhears Chuuya in the back talking to someone else, excitement in their voices that they finally have a customer again

a book series that makes use of "anachronistic" language in a way that really feels organic for the period, IMO, is Piratica by Tanith Lee

set in an explicitly alternate universe c. 1810, the first book managed to include the sentence "Well, groovy, thou art a klutz," and make it sound 100% Golden Age of PiracyTM. even though the author used words from wildly different eras, she captured the cadence of 18th/early 19th century working-class/criminal slang so well that I literally just had to look up whether "groovy" was an older word than I previously thought

god those books were so good. I should reread them

I’ve been thinking about how to go about this, and after seeing the way everyone reacted—some of you believing me, some questioning me, and some even being genuinely happy for me—I decided that I should be honest. You all deserve some background because, the truth is, what I initially announced was not an April Fools’ prank.

Everything I said in my announcement was real. I was actually reached out to—anonymously at first—through email after they found my and my friend's Instagram. After several discussions and a creative test, I was given an opportunity [about 4 months of back and forth]. But within 24 hours of announcing it, things happened, and I had to drop out of a major role. That’s when I thought about turning this entire thing into an April Fools’ joke to cover it up and not let it go to waste... :( though I couldve just be like, "hey, I didn't get the job" and move on but I'm choosing to give insights. I even wrote a post revealing it as a prank, but then I saw how many of you still weren’t sure what to believe, how some of you were genuinely happy for me, and how my own friends, despite their confusion, continued to support me. That’s when I realized I couldn’t go through with pretending it was a joke when it wasn’t one in the first place. My own conscience wouldn’t let me.

I won’t go too much into detail here in Tumblr, but just know that I made the best decision for myself. This experience made me realize just how different things are behind the scenes. If I had gone ahead and posted the April Fools’ ‘reveal,’ would you have ever believed that the opportunity actually happened and I was just covering it up? Probably not. And that’s exactly how things work in the idol industry too—if you don’t know the background, you don’t know the background. People can feed you anything.

I’m also adding a screenshot of the initial post I wrote as a ‘prank reveal’ to show you what I originally intended to say. But one thing that remains true in my prank reveal post is, what happened with svthub members lol, guys, I'm sorry for not seeing the pings on time and just poofing. They didn’t force me, some were skeptical but—they were happy, excited, curious, but most importantly, they stayed by my side even while I was silent. And for that, I am grateful.

(I think 5 and 1 are my favorite of the past episodes, though 6 infected me with the Shroud brainrot something fierce.) I just...ESPECIALLY love diasomnia. :') but there is room in my heart for all of these dweebs! like, who among us is not just as ride-or-die for Adeuce as they are for us.

that said, I don't really follow the other adaptations like the manga (aside from a dip-in just to see the new Yuus) or the novels, though I keep meaning to check them out! I do like seeing the differences between the different forms of media, and how certain things get adapted one way or another! but alas, time/a lack of accessibility stands in our way more often than not. :( someday...someday I will have time to consume all of the media...

well shit. ok so ever since all that hurricane business i’ve been tossing around the idea of “moving” my birthday to be on halloween instead of 2-3 days after the anniversary of the worst natural disaster my region and hometown has ever seen in its entire history

but i’ve suddenly now realized that there’s nothing stopping me from moving it to september 15. it’s only 15 days earlier

my friends also keep doing themed birthday parties this year, most of which have involved some form of cosplay . i could force them to dress up as undertale characters
