How to write Ghost Speak stylised, without using Zalgo text [Z̶̙̓́͂͗ầ̶͚̂͝l̶̡͖̘͖̟̙͋ģ̴͔͉̬̣̙̄̕ó̶̳̏̆̕]
I see a lot of Danny Phantom fanfic writer use Zalgo text for Ghost Speak, however it's usually unreadable and it often makes the text around it unreadable too. It's fun to use a stylised font for fictional languages like this, so here's some proposition of what to use instead:
(I'll be using this as an example: "Hi, my name is Phantom" the floating boy said and landed. "and I think I can help.")
Zalgo with controled level of text corruption
Zalgo.org allows you to control the "craziness" of the text, and unzalgo the text, which can help when adding the translation of it.
Example:
Regular level: H̴̨̛̺͎̼̭͖̜̟̹̪̮͖̼͇̏̋̐͛̓̃̏͜ͅi̶̡̡̡̺͚͚̣͙͇̦̞͙̬̍̀̄̋̏̕̚,̶̛̛̮͕̩̫̜̖̤̰̜̰̝̜̮̅͋̒̉̓͂̂̇̃̂͘͘͝ͅ ̷͎̭̊͌̆́m̸̧̡͎͈͓̀̍̐̽̎͂͆́͠y̵̬̑̈́̓̓ ̶͓͎̲̣̹̞̮̞̟̲͊́̾ǹ̴̜̟̤̺̳̂̒̌̂̍̋̐̑͘͝ͅa̴̡͍̱̞̟̫̗͔͔̗̜̮̳̅̈́͌̑̓̆̋̇̅̈̚̚͜͝m̷̰̣͍͔̱̩̖͕̈́͒̒͂̋̐̍̓͌͑̈̏̚̚̚̕͜͝ͅe̶̩̫̿̈͑̊́̀ ̴̻̝͔̼͇̮͎̝͔̠̋̊̈́̄̂̍̊̍͝ͅi̷̡̜͙͈͛͛̑̎̽̓̅̏̏͋̓͠ṡ̸̡̺̻͖̥̗͆̋̔̌̕ ̵̡̯̜̰̤̝͔̹͕̻̬̝̳̄͆͛́͂̓͘͝͝͝ͅP̴̛̣̈̓͛̊͂̐͗̍̃̆̉̂̓͠ͅh̶̨̠̫̥̺̋̇̈́͋̒͗̾̽̃͘͠a̸̖͍̺͇̟͇̠̹̺̓̀̈́̈́̾̆̔͋̎̇͌̾͠͝n̸̡̡̛͉̜̖̱̭͍͖̯͉̾͒̈́͆̈́̕͝t̴̺̥̼̱͚̙͕̖̺̖̣̜͐̅͑ò̸͙̣̫̫̬̟̼͝m̶̞̜͓̤͔̠̞͙̩̣̮͇̲͇̞͈̎̽́̕̕͜"̸̡̛̠̗͕̣̰̳̝̖̯̣̤̯̥͊̀̈́̓̾̽͂̓̉͛̿̀ ̸̢̢̡̛̫͈̠͖̪̦̦̰̤̰̥͖̥̪̏́̏̐͆̍̌̉̈́̎̆̕͝͝the floating boy said and landed. ̷̱̤̰̮̫͍͖̅̋̈́̾̎̓̃̉̏̒͠"̸̨̛̯̮̹̪͖̘͙̗̩͈̬̠̾̽̑͌͂̀̑̎͐͐͂̄̔̾͘͝ḁ̴̭̘͙̪̜̘̤̘͚̬̫̟͕̤͔̇͋͘n̵̤̟͔͈̣̜̝͉̓̆̈́͌̂͒̿̉̊̈́̚͘d̸̬̳͙̤̣͈̬͔̫̈́ ̶̧̨̡̮̫͔͙̪̼̫̪̹̱͍̙͌̃͜ͅĮ̵̘̌͒͋̉͊͒̑͋̾̅͠͝͠ ̶̺̪͇̰̐́͗́̈͂̋͊̉̿̔̎͝͝ţ̵̡̭̯̫̼̦͚̯̯͇͎͐́͌̍͛͊͆ͅh̷̤̼͙̯̪̟̩̗̿į̶̧̡̗͇͍̰̬̣̒̅̕̕͜͝͝ņ̷̮̤̫̙̼͚̟̮͓̲͖̤̙͕̾͑̂ͅḵ̴̝̟̲̤̈͗͝ ̸̦͓̮͍̗̜͕̗̟͔̑͛̀ͅI̴̡̻̱̮̺͕̝͎̠͉͍͙̐͐͛̓̈́̀̆̾̋̂̂̊̉͠ͅ ̸̱͎̖͕͚̪̝͇͎͕̼̟̗͔͋̾̆̾͋̓͒͠͝c̸͎̱̹̦̰̝̦̻͚̘̰̥̞̰̩̱͛̾̓͝a̵̩̦͙̼̠̼̱̲̬̣͈̓͛̈̾̔̋̈́̾̾̑̕͘͜͝͝ͅṋ̴͚̹͈̦͎̩̫͓̃́̅̆̄̈́́͜͝ ̶̢͕̳̘̯͎̺͓͙̯̖̃̎̆̊̃͐́́̿̀̀͌̔ḥ̶̘̩̆͛͒͌̐̅̈́̕͝͝e̷͙͊̌́͋̆̄̂̎̓͑̈́̓̄͠͠l̵̛̫̥͇̞͉̓̀̎̈́̐͠͝ṕ̶͍̈̔̈́͂͗̒͛͋͠.̴̜͚̲͕̘̣͙̩̻̈́͐̽"̵̩̳̈̑́̈́̔́͒̒̃͐̏̆

Any of the fonts you like on Fontgen or Messletters
Fontgen.net is a fancy font generation, it has many different fonts and font decorations. I recommend you check it out, although going through all of them can be a bit annoying.
There's also Messletters generator that has some different fonts, you can also corrupt any of them if you want by using buttons at the top. Remember that not everyone font will be possible to corrupt. Sometimes it shows a letter as a box, as if the font doesn't have it, but often, if it's a singular letter, that's not true.
Tumblr media
Another popular fancy text generator is LingoJam's Fancy Letter generator, although be aware that LingoJam has other generators that use AI, mostly those photo based.
Diagonal Stripes
This is the only suggested font that works with screen reading. Google's voices read it properly as words, Microsoft voices spell the letters.
Example:
"H̷i̷, m̷y̷ n̷a̷m̷e̷ i̷s̷ P̷h̷a̷n̷t̷o̷m̷" The floating boy said and landed. "a̷n̷d̷ I̷ t̷h̷i̷n̷k̷ I̷ c̷a̷n̷ h̷e̷l̷p̷."
Smooth
For this I recommend you change some letters, like for example i and h, to lower case, because imo it looks better, but that's up to you.
Example:
"нι, му ηαмє ιѕ Ƥнαηтσм" The floating boy said and landed. "αη∂ ι тнιηк ι cαη нєℓρ."
This font, of which I unfortunately can't find the name of.
You can for sure find it on Fontgen in the 'Swirly Font Generator' section.
Example:
"ᏂᎥ, ᎷᎩ ᏁᏗᎷᏋ ᎥᏕ ᎮᏂᏗᏁᏖᎧᎷ" The floating boy said and landed. "ᏗᏁᎴ Ꭵ ᏖᏂᎥᏁᏦ Ꭵ ፈᏗᏁ ᏂᏋᏝᎮ."
Stupid
Example:
"Hɨ, ʍʏ ռǟʍɛ ɨֆ Pɦǟռȶօʍ" The floating boy said and landed. "ǟռɖ ɨ ȶɦɨռӄ ɨ ƈǟռ ɦɛʟք."
Cherokee
In some generators it looks like it doesn't support the letter F or f, but it does, so don't worry.
Example:
"Ꮋꮖ, ꮇꭹ ɴꭺꮇꭼ ꮖꮪ Ꮲꮋꭺɴꭲꮻꮇ" The floating boy said and landed. "ꭺɴꭰ Ꮖ ꭲꮋꮖɴꮶ Ꮖ ꮯꭺɴ ꮋꭼꮮꮲ."
Those are just some of my favourite that's the most readable, but you can explore different fonts on your own and find something you like!

Hiiii ! Hope this blog isn’t dead — I just wanted to ask what the differences were between posts that are tagged Oekaki and Not Oekaki — does it depend on the forum it was posted on, or the art style? It’s a little confusing to me since I haven’t heard this term before. ^^
Hi, the tags "oekaki" or "not oekaki" are how we categorize which pieces were drawn on an oekaki using the java applet drawing programs. Oekakis were online message boards that provided onsite drawing programs for you to draw on, which was often the next most accessible drawing program at the time next to MS Paint.
For the time period we focused on, the only available java applet drawing programs on oekakis were OekakiBBS (basically superceded by PaintBBS), PaintBBS, and ShiPainter. They all had little their little quirks and techniques that are visible on finished drawings drawn on an oekaki. If we can tell from these quirks that the drawing was likely drawn in an oekaki applet, we tag it as Oekaki.

Great idea: ao3ify writing things from college
When my thesis supervisor said that we will aim for 25-30 pages I had absolutely no idea what that means and it was so debilitatingly stressful
But yesterday we talked and. That's 12k words. What is 12 000 words? It's not a small amount but if a fic has 12k words I don't feel bad with starting it just before going to sleep. I can do 12k words! Probably
But more importantly: the font. I hate hate hate Times New Roman so I always write in a different one before changing but either way I can never focus and I even tried the Comic Sans trick and it's not working
But you know what does work?
AO3 FONT!!
Y'all I put Verdana font in and suddenly the shit I wrote got 80% more intresting, I'm pavloving myself here and it works

I was asked to design title page of memorial book for local evangelical church. I'm happy and proud with how it came out😁 I forgot how much fun it is to draw gothic letters! This was a lot of very detailed work but I so love to make all the spirals and swirls!

It's also funny how three letters are trying to tickle "f" from behind and it suspects nothing 🤭 And look how the "d" behaves like a kitten playing with tails of "j" and "i"!

Holy shit?????? I saw someone forever ago say to try writing in comic sans and then switch back to a more formal font before you submit/post/whatever because it helps you focus on writing and get it done and it actually worked?????? I just wrote my whole essay for the summer assignment I definitely did not procrastinate on in less than an hour wtf. I mean I still have to proofread and stuff but :0
