Why do many people hate piper? (I want to read the lost hero but am hesitating because of the amount of hate jason and piper get)
DONT LISTEN TO THE MORONS I LOVE BOTH JASON AND PIPER
okay
so
rant time (with slight spoilers, you’ve been warned)
piper mclean is a daughter of [redacted] who hates fame as her father is an actor and tries to downplay her appearance a lot to seem less noticeable or whatever. she cuts her own hair and wears ratty clothes etc. a lot of people take this as a “not like other girls” trope, but i’ve never seen it that way as piper doesn’t really say anything super negative about other girls except a general observation that the aphrodite kids are a bit shallow (which tbf, haven’t we all thought that as some point?). i honestly love piper and always have, and i think she’s a really great representation of all teen girls going through their stage of not really wanting to be girly but understanding the why and how of what it means to be a girl
jason grace is a son of [redacted] who is trained from the age of like, three, to be a military soldier and leader, and has, from as far back as he can remember, incredible amounts of responsibility on his shoulders 24/7. therefore he is very rules and regulations oriented, doesn’t have the most risky personality, and tries to always do the right thing. therefore a lot of people think that he’s a super bland and boring character, but i truly think he’s absolutely amazing and very deep, and as the oldest child in my house who grew up w a lot of responsibilities and stuff, i think rick nailed that weird feeling of always having to be good enough perfectly.
anyways, hope this helped?? a little?? ilysm and thank you for asking, and i hope you read heroes of olympus, bc it. is. so. GOOD. i love love love the entirety of that series, and each one of the seven demigods have such a special place in my heart. much love, anon!! <33

Artemis + 🐻
"The life cycle of bears and their behaviours and similarities with man were studied in ancient times by Aristotle, Theophrastus, and Pliny. However, archaeological evidence for the image of a bear as mother goes back to the Neolithic period. This Neolithic image portrays the 'notable tenderness of the mother beast for her cub as an image for human mothering.'
Baring and Cashford suggest that the bear is 'probably the oldest sacred animal of all.' These images are linked to the Brauron initiations into womanhood and motherhood, as well as the suggestion that Artemis is a derivative of an ancient bear goddess.
The authors note that the bear is 'the oldest animal hunted for food in the northern hemisphere, and also the oldest animal whose remains have been given a ritual significance.' This complex imagery of the bear as caregiver, but also as a large violent animal, is in many ways an anthropomorphic representation of the goddess herself.
Under her care, young women are protected in the transition from child to adult; however, there is also an animalistic character to this ritual. In order to be transformed from girl to woman, the young girl must shed the uninhibitedness of her childhood and offer it as sacrifice to Artemis.
This is a ritual of 'wildness.' When girls who were coming of age were seen as being especially 'hormonal', they were said to be in the grip of the wild, independent goddess herself. By performing these rituals, it was believed that the goddess would guide the girls to maturity.
During rites of initiation, young girls become the bears of Artemis. One example is the archeological find at Sparta, where an interesting lead figure from the sanctuary of Artemis shows a female dancer wearing a bear mask.
The ancient Greeks saw bears everywhere, especially in the stars, and attributed the characteristics of the mother bear to Artemis, both as the creature and as the stellar constellation of Ursa Major, 'the Great Bear'."

Concept: The Jackson Hobbit movies, but Tauriel is Legolas’ older sister instead:
It allows her conflict with Thranduil to remain focused on their actual disagreement/differences in perspective rather than getting sidetracked by elitism/classism/fantasy racism (which is also inconsistent with the book dynamics between Thranduil’s family and the Silvan elves, but I digress) or by Legolas’ crush.  They kind of touched on that in the movies, that she’s an ordinary if favoured guard speaking out against her king and that there’s a massive difference in power and station.  But it’s never satisfactorily addressed or resolved because of course, the aim of the movies is not a class critique, so then don’t introduce that particular dynamic at all.  By making her Thranduil’s daughter/heir, it allows them to use the limited screentime they have to focus in on their actual disagreement rather than alluding to some class commentary that never ends up going anywhere.
It removes the love triangle/angle that they really didn’t have enough screentime to develop fully.  Tauriel and Kili can still have a romantic interest in each other, Legolas just becomes the younger brother who is mistrustful of this new “interloper” in the family and who is shocked that his older sibling is breaking convention by showing any interest in a dwarf.
As a subtle tie-in to LOTR, it provides a “canonical” reason for why Legolas was sent to Rivendell on essentially messenger duty and why he was able to join the Fellowship on a months-long quest - he’s not an only child and he’s not his father’s heir, so he’s able to spend that amount of time away from home.
And so what if I think it would be cool to have at least one kingdom in Middle-earth explicitly follow absolute primogeniture.  I just think it would be one neat way of distinguishing the Silvan elves as a sociocultural group rather than just ‘more dangerous, less wise.’
It lends greater weight and consequence to Tauriel’s decisions.  She’s not a single captain going rogue, she’s the king’s heir and every decision she makes carries significant political and social implications.  Aiding the Company, and Thorin’s heirs in particular?  That’s a hell of a stance from the heir to the Woodland crown.  Disobeying Thranduil’s direct orders and pursuing her own course of action?  That’s not just treason, that’s the king’s heir going against the king.
I’m really not a fan of how they adapted Thranduil’s character in the movies, but given the story that we were presented with, it would create another parallel between him and Thorin - their heirs openly defying them because of their decisions as leaders.
More Elven women as leaders.  Look, these movies were never going to be an exploration of class, just let her be an Elvish princess and explore how she approaches decisions as the heir apparent to the crown.
Also, just saying, Tauriel following her own strong personal beliefs rather than listening to the orders of an Elven king who wants to take a more cautious, defensive approach makes for some pretty great parallels with Oropher.  You could even have a flashback scene of the Last Alliance and Oropher leading the Woodland elves into a massacre as a young Thranduil looks on in horror - that way, you get a further parallel with the scene of Thorin watching his father and grandfather charge Azog at Azalnubizar.
Almost all the Elven women in the books are either younger siblings or (functionally) only children.  Someone get Findis some company, it’s time we got more Oldest Daughter representation.

The following post is a RWDE rant that is long, angry and non articulated. If you don’t like that, don’t read it, and leave me be. Thank you.
Warning for mentions of racism, bigotry, genocide and slavery.
RW//BY, as a show, is… I’m going to say it, actually really racist. Is it the most racist thing ever? No. Fuuck no. Not even close. But I’d daresay at least half of it is riddled with some of the most appallingly ignorant shit I’ve seen in any webseries, and yet… some people will go out of their way to harass any who dare to criticize it.
Remnant is not real. The characters I am about to discuss are not real. But the writers who wrote these characters and the world they inhabit are very real, and the shit they wrote fucking disgusts me.
so. Rant begin.
Tumblr media
Something the crazies of the fandom will say (I say crazies because, the fandom isn’t all like this. many of you guys are chill and cool as fuck) in defense of RW//BY’s many problematic aspects, particularly the criticism of “75% of the show’s POC and minorities are villains”, is that “well, there’s a lot more POC and minority’s on the GOOD GUY side now! Hooray!”
And they’re technically right. I like Elm and Pietro and I love Maria (in V6 especially she was fucking golden) and Marrow. Them and all the other POC they’ve added in as of V6-7~ are, in my opinion, mostly great additions to the cast.
The side cast.
The thing that isn’t usually pointed out is that these characters… they are side characters. Pietro and Maria are side characters. The Ace Ops and Happy Huntresses, while playing a decent role, are side characters.
Hell that extends to pretty much every POC character we’ve gotten aside from Oscar. They’ve been side characters. Many of whom, we likely won’t see again (Until Volume 10… if RT lasts that long)
But I want to mention one thing. We didn’t start getting characters that weren’t blinding white until the end of V2 and the start of V3.
One of these characters in question I’d like to point out, Flynt Coal.
I like Flynt. He’s fine. I think his design is cool. But to deny that his character isn’t extremely racist is ignorant.
One of their first. Black characters. Was basically named… “Dark rock, Dark Rock”…
and his weapon is a TRUMPET😭
Not only that, but he and Neon fight Yang and Weiss in the tournament. Let’s talk about Weiss actually. She is the second oldest child to the megarich Schnee family, whom owns the SDC, which she is heiress to. Earlier in the series she acted extremely racist towards characters of an in-universe minority group, and never really apologized on screen. Instead, we’re given justification for why the rich girl is racist. She’s scared because of the White Fang! Poor little German name “White Snow.”
Anyways, back to the fight. Flynt mentions how it was the SDC who put his father’s own company out of business in their monopoly. Does this go somewhere? Nooooo he’s a side character, who’s beaten by Weiss and her bestie by the end of the battle.
How come they made one of their first black characters fight and lose a battle with their whitest richest character? (Obs not implying he should’ve won, just asking why they chose him in the first place) How come they named him after black rocks(which is in reference to how, in a minecraft letsplay, one mentioned the name “Flynt Coal” and another replied “He’d have to be a black guy!”)?
Who knows. But surely this is the last time they’ll make a (minority) character be positioned oppositely from our mains. Surely they won’t ever write one as a villain!
Surely she won’t be the Lakota girl, either!
Tumblr media
Ilia as a character was a big stepping stone (at the time) in terms of RW//BY’s representation. She was the first canonical, on screen LGBTQ+ character. She was a member of the White Fang who, before joining, was able to “blend in” with humans due to her Faunus trait not being as noticeable, being spots on her face and along the rest of her body. Ilia was orphaned due to her parents dying in an SDC mine collapse, and when she saw her school friends laughing about it, she “punched their teeth out.”
Hell, overall I really like Ilia. Her design is adorable, as LGBTQ+ rep I think she’s good enough (though the fact they wrote their first lesbian character to be… a villain, is a talk for another day), and overall I find her decently written on her own. Plus, she’s fun as hell to write. Love her dearly.
On her own. Because in the story, the more I think about it… the more I’m sad, and mad, about how she was handled.
Firstly. Her name. Apparently it’s supposed to mean “Butterly Rainbow” (again, naming your first lesbian girl “rainbow” lol)… but nope. They got the name Amitola off a baby named website, when it really means something closer to “Like a blue sky.” From my understanding. Typical RT shenanigans. It gets worse :3
Ilia was also one of the very few villains in the show to be redeemed. How was she redeemed?
By being told by the much-more privileged, whiter minority girl whom she had a crush on that what ilia was fighting for was Bad. How Ilia was fighting for it was Bad. The White Fang? Baaaad. How dare the MINORITIES FIGHT WITH NEEDED VIOLENCE for their basic living rights against the POOR WIDDLE OPPRESSORS! It’s THEIR fault they’re oppressed, because they’re making the humans uncomfortable and angry! They need to just keep their dirty mouths shut and be good, presentable minorities.
And upon being redeemed, Ilia is immediately put on a bus. Shelved.
And let me remind you again. Who was redeemed through being told by her much whiter (I say whiter in a way not to demean Blake btw, as privileged as she is she is still a minority obviously. Just… stating facts) friend that “a minority Shouldn’t use violence against their oppressors for their rights. It’s Their fault the humans are still so racist towards them. The Faunus should stop being so aggressive and be peaceful”?
Not only the lesbian character, but…
The indigenous girl.
The.
Indigenous.
Girl.
I’m sure I don’t need to point out how fucked this is. Let alone the fact this whole show is written in fucking Texas.
It’s no secret, as much as some try to make it be, how horribly Native Americans and indigenous people have been treated throughout history. The oppression they have faced stems back centuries. Their land and home was stolen from them.
Their own culture was all but forcefully eradicated.
Men, women, children, were all genocided.
To this very day it’s all they can do to fight for not only their own rights as people, but the very lands that were stolen from them.
So for this show to write… it’s Indigenous
WOMAN
‘s character being “redeemed” by learning “Peaceful protest is good, violent protest for your living rights bad!” is… sickening. Genuinely. Fucking. Sickening.
But maybe that violent protest WAS bad! Maybe, it was going nowhere and really causing the problems. Who the hell would ever try and implement that? Who leads the White Fang?
…You wanna know?
Tumblr media
Don’t bother.
Sienna is a character we see for. One. Scene. One scene and she’s GONE. dead, stabbed, thrown down some stairs. We know very little about her, but we know a lot of her actions.
Under her rule as high leader, she got shit gone. Through her use of violence against the oppressive humans, she did in five years what many before her couldn’t in decades: Her methods were working. Her people were being given rights.
But noooooooo!!!!!!!!! We can’t have the Woman of Color in power be CORRECT. Her methods were WRONG, MONSTROUS! How dare she end slavery and fight against oppression?! She should’ve just asked NICELY! Just like Blake told—
Wait… Blake? BLAKE?!
BLAAAAAAAAKEEEEE!!!!!
Tumblr media
Blake is one of 4 main characters in RW//BY, and she was easily my favorite. Fierce and a bookworm, an ex-freedom fighter who was quick to call out Miss Rich “White Snow” on her bullshit. She was fun, strong, and like the show said itself, she was Feisty.
Tumblr media
I miss that Blake, tails. I miss her a lot. I’ll be back.
Nowadays, that feisty personality she has has been diminished so she can be all meek and quiet and sweet for her white human friends.
Tumblr media
(and just now in v9, she’s completely fine with being referred to as an animal. Sienna in honorary heaven: she would not fucking say that.)
White fans and likely the writers themselves were too uncomfortable having to face that all majority people still benefit from a society built on and from deep systemic racism, so they wrote Blake to be an All Lives Matter doormat so she was more palatable Blake saw the error of the White Fang’s ways and how their justified acts of violent protest against the privileged majority were making the humans SCAWED🥺, so she stood before them all and put her status as literal Faunus princess to good use: telling all those like her who’d suffered beneath the humans’ oppression that they were wrong. How could they fight back violently? They did this to themselves. They brought the oppression, the enslavement, the bigotry and cruelty upon themselves because they just didn’t play nice enough.
Fuck, even when she’s in the “City of Racism” Atlas, she’s too busy being uwu sad and nervous and having to rely on others (funny how instead of ever empowering her again, they write Blake as this submissive docile flower baby immediately after hey reveal she was an abuse victim. Real fucking funny. Laughing my eyes out of my skull with a toothpick.) except for when she jokingly comments how rich the Schnees are and how they own basically everything.
Past Blake wouldn’t be laughing about that. She’d use it against the Schnees, rightfully.
But we can’t have that. She’s the good minority, who keeps her mouth shut tight and looks pretty for the camera.
But… about that bigotry. That oppression, that racism… do we ever see that?
lol fuck no
Tumblr media
We hear of how horribly the Faunus people are treated. Controversial labor forces that keep them as slaves to the SDC. Treated like dirt and beaten and killed and lynched.
We hear. We hear of that.
In the show, we get… a No Faunus sign put out in some background places. And the equal opportunist bully bullying a bunny girl.
That’s it. Background shit. Background shit that could easily be interpreted differently, or missed completely if you fucking blink.
There has only been one point where the true extent of this oppression is shown to us. One point which…
we’ll fucking get to.
But there’s one thing I’ve mentioned rather frequently throughout this rant. Two, technically. The Schnee family and the SDC.
Let’s talk. Let’s. Fucking. Talk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*sighs*
Tumblr media
So this show demonizes it’s fictional worlds only freedom fighting organization, so surely they do the same for the oppressive Amazon company that has a chokehold on the economy of an entire—
Tumblr media
In the early volumes, Weiss, another main character, was extremely racist to those who were Faunus. She was also the daughter of the Richy Rich Bitch Family of “CEOs of Racism”. Her older sister was a cop, her younger brother out of the picture until V4, her mother a neglectful abusive alcoholic (she is a victim too but neglect. is. abuse.), her father a racist abusive asshole who looks like I could break him like a bendy straw. But her racism isn’t her fault at all! No, the dirty minorities in the White Fang who were terrorizing the richest of the rich were what made her racist. It was never her fault, only the scary minorities.
How dare the marginalized be so evil.
But she apologizes off screen and is no longer racist! Yippee! At least we marked “Racist” off her “Racist Blood Purist Rich White Weiss” card! she’s White Savior Blood Purist Rich White Weiss now! Now we can make fun of how much shit her family owns.
But before all that, she and her girlfriend battle… a black man! Gasp! Who… says before the fight, her family’s company put his family’s business OUT of business!
A throwaway line before he and his bestie get beaten. Also just realized as I type: not only did Weiss battle a black character who was affected by her family company’s monopoly, but… a Faunus. Another one for the jar.
B-But Blake knows Ilia was affected by the SDC, too! It orphaned her, because in their mines Faunus weren’t given nearly as much safety. Surely she can tell Weiss and have her see—
*Ruby voice* nope. Nope! Ilia was being violent for equality, and that’s no good. So she learns that all their oppressors (likely including the SDC)are really just SCARED of them! So she’s redeemed and becomes peaceful. The Lakota indigenous girl is turned “good.”
But maybe once they’re in Atlas—
Jokes are made about how FUNNY LOL XD it is that her family owns so much, and they’re appalled by how… literally fucking normal Mantle is, as if it’s just an utter travesty to their eyes. She doesn’t want to outright abolish the corrupt SDC, which basically rides on Atlas like a parasite, but instead free it from the dirty-blooded clutches of her father, and return it to the Pure Blooded Schnees, who will use it righteously, in Santa Schnee’s name!
She’s the granddaughter of a hero, after all. A hero who monopolized and capitalized the world’s resources and began a chokehold on an entire kingdom with how vital the Resources became, all the while implementing minority slave labor.
Because we can’t have our pretty princess Weiss face any consequences. We can’t have one of ours mains face consequences. Realize her privilege and try and do something. We can’t make our writers uncomfortable!
And this extends to Winter, too! The woman as racist as Weiss was, but without the “”excuse””, who is also a cop, and who… punches, kneels over one of the characters who is both an in-universe minority of a Dog and easily the darkest skinned character, and tells him; “You want a collar? Fine.”
But the Pure Blood Schnees are good. They’re beautiful and powerful. Even if Weiss has that scar, it’s as tiny as can be so to not ruin her pretty face. Let’s give the rich white family all the angelic imagery. Let’s show Weiss with wings.
Tumblr media
Twice. Twice with white, huge and glowing angel’s wings.
Tumblr media
Looking pure and holy. Pure. And. Holy.
But Angel imagery? Surely there’s a contrast. Demonic imagery: like the horns, black and red, something to do with darkness and the moon, who should that belong to? If the rich, white, blood purist main girl Weiss gets the angel wings, pretty face and princess aesthetic… who deserves to be the demon of Remnant?
…Oh, I know the answer to this one! It’s—
Tumblr media
Throughout this whole post, there’s been one character I’ve purposefully neglected mentioning by name.
 Adam.
We didn’t see the guy much. Black trailer, V2, V3, V5, V6. And he was really only reoccurring in V5, which… 😶
But from what we did see, we saw the Face of the White Fang. We saw someone who did bad things for the right causes. We saw someone who despised his oppressors, but who seemed to care for his fellow Faunus. We saw…
a fucking lie. A headcanon, perhaps. Badum tss.
What Adam REALLY WAS was an abusive cruel irredeemably evil monster jerkface asshole creep bitch who NEVER cared about his own people, NEVER cared about his people’s rights, NEVER wanted anything more than glory and power and to be lionized.
The minority character, by the way.
Why did the writers decide to make this guy the hatesink? Why did they decide to make Adam suddenly not care about his fellow people’s rights?
Why did they decide to make him laughably cruel to his own people whom he seemed to genuinely care for before (like in that scene in volume 3, where he only agrees to go along w/ cinder after she starts KILLING FAUNUS, but maybe that scene was a headcanon too, all in le head)
Why did they decide to make the goals of one of their in universe minority characters to be wanting nothing but fame and power?
Why did they also write him to be a former child slave?
Volume 6 is one of my more liked volumes, with it (for me) easily being the best looking, and the horror stuff was great. Also, Maria.
But then they threw Adam in last minute. One last kick of that dead bull.
He comes back in his finest NieR: Automata cosplay and starts spouting some of the most embarrassingly bad dialog this show has had while fighting Blang (basically that one fucking hilarious “Boobs in my mouth please please please hello You’re nothing” post as dialog), and it’s in this that, after 6 volumes, we finally see his face.
Adam was branded. I’m not putting that shit lightly, Adam was fucking branded.
And the brand is used to show how evil HE is. He was hurt more by his gf leaving him than ANY scar ever would. Who cares about all the trauma he surely went through in slavery, he sure fucking doesn’t! Okay, Cameraman Mike, be sure to focus a whole bunch of shots on his brand, which is still blood red and grotesque, to really hammer the point in how much of an asshole he is.
Never mind it’s a brand of the SDC, of which one of our main character’s family owns. Who cares if this is literally the only time we’re shown the true extent of racism against Faunus?
It’s swept aside! Because the same episode we’re given one of the most honestly depressing reveals for a villain yet is the same episode that villain dies.
Dies with the brand facing the camera. His death. Entirely. On. Screen.
Thank fuck Adam was written as an irredeemable monster of a villain(/j), because they literally wrote, animated, and voiced a scene where we the viewers watch a former child slave, branded and blinded over an eye, have his death be entirely on screen. A slow death, entirely on screen.
Adam, a former slave to the SDC who, sometime during his childhood was branded and permanently blinded, died more slowly… more gruesomely… than Jacques fucking Schnee did.
Even died before him, too.
But notice one thing. I keep referring to him as having been a “child slave.” Emphasis on child.
Don’t blame me. Blame your fucking writers.
Tumblr media
I want you to read this. Read this paragraph. Twice, if you have to. As many times as you need to to get the fact into your head that THIS IS FUCKING VILE.
This is in the writers commentary track for volume 7. They tiptoe around with their words, but I’ll translate it to the best of my ability. In it, Miles shared a particular headcanon: in which the
FUCKING VILLAIN HE WROTE TO HAVE BEEN A CHILD SLAVE TO THE SCHNEE DUST COMPANY GOT HIMSELF BRANDED FOR BEING TOO MUCH OF A LITTLE SHIT TO KEEP HIS DIRTY TRAP SHUT.
SO THEN ONE OF HIS CAPTORS HELD THIS CHILD DOWN TO THE GROUND AND JAMMED A CATTLE PROD DOWN WITH THE SDC PROPERTY LOGO ONTO HIS EYE.
THAT LITTLE BOY SURE HAD IT COMING, HUH? HE’S ALWAYS BEEN SUCH AN INSUFFERABLE LITTLE PRICK, EVEN AS A CHILD IN SLAVERY. HIS CAPTORS REALLY LET HIM HAVE IT!
LET.
HIM.
HAVE.
IT.
THEY WRITE AND HEADCANON A FICTIONAL CHILD SLAVE BEING BRANDED IN THE EYE AFTER HE STARTS THE FIGHT. HE STARTED IT.
THEY WRITE AND HEADCANON A FICTIONAL CHILD SLAVE BEING BRANDED IN THE EYE AND GROWING UP TO BECOME A HORRIBLE, DISGUSTING DEMON.
THEY WRITE AND HEADCANON A FICTIONAL CHILD SLAVE BEING BRANDED IN THE EYE AND HIS CAPTOR JUST “LET HIM HAVE IT.”
“LET HIM HAVE IT,” NOT IN REFERRAL TO A MINORITY BEING HATE CRIMED.
“LET HIM HAVE IT,” NOT IN REFERRAL TO A MINORITY SLAVE BEING PERMANENTLY SCARRED.
“LET HIM HAVE IT” IN REFERRAL TO A MINORITY CHILD SLAVE BEING BRANDED AS PROPERTY IN THE EYE BY HIS CAPTORS.
And I think this says it all. From the white and the black, blue and the red, oppressor and oppressed and angel and demon, Weiss and Adam almost mirror each other.
Just look at their scars. Theirs are on the same side.
But while Weiss’s is the smallest, prettiest scar of all,
The brand of the SDC all but covers half of Adam’s face, in all it’s grotesque, blood red and hideous glory.
I’ll let you guess the implications.
Killing off a WOC in power the very scene she’s introduced. Showing the Lakota girl the “right way to protest”. Painting the oppressors in a more positive light than ever showing the oppressed be oppressed. Showing your hatesink character had been branded in the eye the same episode he dies on screen. And this is what broke me.
They’d read in the history books of children forced into slavery slaves being branded
and they’d see the backstory for a villain.
Because we can’t write the minorities fighting against their oppressors to be justifiable!
We can’t face how a member of the majority will almost always benefit from an oppressive system!
We can’t write the pretty white rich family of Fantasy-Amazon owners as wrong for their horrible practices both past and present!
We can’t let the WOC be right about violent protest!
We can’t let the native girl be angry and fight back against her oppressors!
We can’t have a shred of sympathy for the ex slave who was branded while he was a boy!
Because they did this.
Faunus.

The Two Books in G-Witch
In Witch From Mercury, two books make a repeated showing in the series, each linked to a specific character. The fourth Elan reads A World of Will and Representation by Arthur Schopenhauer and Norea has her red sketchbook.
In Schopenhauer’s book, he states that a person’s world is limited to themselves alone, that a person can only understand something in how it relates to them and not the real truth of the matter. He states that essence of everything is the will, a force outside of space and time, and free of multiplicity. Schopenhauer states that true redemption can only come from the ascetic negation to the “will of life.” And in short, he states that all nature is an expression of the will, and that the will (a force present in everything) causes all of human suffering. Aesthetic pleasures can only create temporary escape from the will, and if a human wants to escape the will’s influence, they must become an ascetic being.
This connects to El4n’s character as he is a disposable pawn. Someone made to only serve his purpose (as chosen by an unseen AI, possibly a stand in for the will) and then be scrapped. At the beginning, El4n follows Schopenhauer’s doctrine of detaching himself from worldly pleasures, however when Suletta shows up and El4n is confronted with the fact that there could be a person like him or a way to save himself from his fate, he becomes much more attached to life. This attachment is what leads to him being executed due to him no longer having any use to Peil (Schopenhauer also states that death isn’t a rejection of the will, just another form of it)
Norea’s sketchbook is a humble leather bound book filled with her sketches, and it’s meant to reflect her mental state. The oldest drawing of hers we see is a calm lake surrounded by foliage. A gathering of life in a calming environment, drawn with light pencil strokes. However, soon the pictures become much more macabre. Torn down buildings, rotting carcasses, and when after Sophie’s death, just indecipherable black scribbles. Her grief, rage, and anxiety are all charted down onto the pages.
While these two books have gained focus, both of their recipients are dead, so how do they factor in now? Well, I think both of these books link to El5n’s character. As of the recent episode, El5n has come into possession of Norea’s sketchbook. And while we haven’t seen him hold it in the anime, in the second cour’s promotional material, he’s holding close to his chest. I believe these two books represent the choice El5n must make.
Holding onto El4n’s would mean El5n would decide to stay trapped in his past of suffering and the inescapable fate dictated by a higher being. If chooses to wallow in his grief and take revenge, not just against Peil, but against everyone else, he’ll only be acting in accordance to the will that set up his life of suffering in the first place.
Meanwhile, Norea’s sketchbook represents hope of a better life. As he said to her in the latest episode, El5n wanted Norea to take him to the places she drew. As someone who presumably spent almost his entire life (or at least from what he can remember) inside a laboratory. For him, seeing the great outdoors and beauty of nature would be something completely new. He wanted to start a new life, one separate from the pain and suffering he underwent as a child. If he doesn’t become enveloped by his need for revenge, and instead moves forward into the future, he can see the beautiful world Norea sketched out.
Ultimately, El5n has to choose between past or future, suffering or hope. I hope he chooses the right choice and moves forward in his life, but knowing Gundam, he’ll probably only realize it when he’s already dying

Autism Brain: I like Donnie because he’s great representation and I just generally like well written canon autistic characters who are confident whilst also facing issues that I face (he also reminds me of Abed for some reason). That’s why he’s the best!

So, whenever I talk of my WIR Next Gen AU, people tend to ask me about a particular child. So to answer those questions...
Steep
Tumblr media
This is one of my first digital renditions of Steep. He is another child from my Next Gen AU - Wreck-It Ralph: Modified.
When Steep was younger, he was founded by the now adult Sugar Rush racers. Assuming he was a glitch that spawned into their game, the Sugar Rush racers figured that by helping to raise this child they would make amends to the wrongs they did to Vanellope. So they all adopted Steep, worked out plans for each household to swap around and care for him routinely, and Steep officially became the first of the Sugar Rush Next Gen children.
Unfortunately, as Steep got older, he began to grow more into his features. He began to garner resemblance to the old tyrant that was King Candy, though no one knew how or why. So this begs the question: "Who is Steep?" In truth?... Steep is King Candy respawned!
After the incident at Diet Cola Mountain, the game made an attempt to respawn the tyrant, but since the virus was still attached to him, the game had to detach his code to remove it and try to backup all his data to a separate box. This all happened just before Vanellope reset the game, and once she did, King Candy's code was destroyed in the middle of the backup process. This left a code box that had the necessary character assets, the voice, but not the objectives, personality, or the memories. The game had to bring him back younger than intended to keep him functioning and to help him develop the elements he was lacking. To this day, Steep still does not know of his past life...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from that, Steep is currently a defected teen, who is still trying to find and express himself through various styles of clothing and music.- though he takes more of a liking to retro 70s/80s styles. His Sugar Rush theme is based on teas and sugar cubes.
Additional details:
When he first spawned, it was before the racers installed the mod that let them grow their families, so he was the first child any of them had!
He is the 2nd oldest of all the Sugar Rush kids; he was 1st oldest, but Vanellope adopted a boy that was slightly older than him.
Though Steep is not inherently a glitch, he does have one- or should I say, he has a defect! Defects prevents elements of videogames from behaving the way that they should; they are more common in game objects, but rare in actual characters! When a character has a defect, they will experience great pain when trying to perform an action that they should do, but that their coding contradicts with. Since Steep still has all of the baselines of Turbo's code, but all of it is inactive or incomplete, Steep's defect will electrocute him for: Attempting to operate a vehicle, getting envious, getting competitive, trying to remember old memories, etc.
Despite what one would assume, Steep is a kind, outgoing character. He thinks of all the other Next Gen kids as his cousins; the only Next Gen kids he seems to have tension with are Florence Von Schweetz and Deidamia Calhoun.
He can often be seen smoking candy cigarettes, putting tea leaves in his snacks, and drinking seltzers, ciders, or Irish teas. Despite his substance use, he does not promote it. He actually wants to quit, but has not gotten the will to do so.
He has a kart. The adult Sugar Rush racers made him one by hand. It resembled a large teacup with biscuit and crumpets when he was much younger as a birthday gift. Unfortunately, he never got to use it because of his defect. It lays collecting dust...
When he is not spending time with the other racers at their house, he hangs around in his little shack. The adults made it for him when he was getting older so that he could have a place to rest and settle in on the weekends or during arcade times.
And if you are curious about what his glitch, or what his "defect", looks like, be expecting a slight visual representation of it later...

Green spring: Pan
PAN
Category: Greek mythology
I) Who is Pan?
Pan is one of the most famous, and weirdest, gods of the Greek mythology.
Pan is defined, first and foremost, by two things. One, he is a god of nature and wild lands: he protects the shepherds and their flocks, while also offering hunters their bounty. He is found in the forests, the meadows and the grottos ; he is the spirit of the fields, the groves and the glens. He is the patron of Arcadia, the Greek region that gave birth to the “Arcadian myth”, this idea of a peaceful, beautiful, idealized pastoral region (though the real-life Arcadia was a very mountainous area of Greece deemed “primitive” and backwards by the other Greeks). Two, he has a very unique appearance among the gods, being half-human and half-goat. He is usually depicted as a bearded man with the legs (or whole lower body), horns and ears of a goat. If this description sounds familiar, it is because it also fits the entire species of supernatural beings known in Greek mythology as the satyrs. The satyrs, the goat-men, were thought of as the friends and companions of Pan. The closeness between the god Pan and the satyr species led to Pan, from a singular entity, evolving through time into a “multiplicity”. For example the late Greek author Nonnus wrote in his “Dionysiaca” that Pan had twelve children, identical to him and who were all also known as “Pan”. Now, this is a very late addition to the Greek poetic canon, and is doesn’t seem to have been a widespread belief – but Nonnus does rely on the fact that the satyrs as a whole were commonly known as “little Pans” (Paniskoi), to distinguish them from the “great Pan”, the god proper.
When it comes to Greek literature, we actually do not have much information about Pan. When it comes to archeological study we have lots of things to say – we have lot of info about his cult, rites, offerings, worship, temples… But as a character? In poetry and hymns and Ancient Greek texts? Things are less clear… Most of the tales and legends surrounding Pan actually come from Rome (and from Pan’s assimilation there with the god Faunus), not from Greece. The Greeks themselves seem to have quite confused by this god: all the archeological clues and elements point out to Pan’s cult beginning and appearing in Arcadia (a Greek region) and YET the Greek historians couldn’t admit that Pan came from their own culture and country, and rather believed he must have been an Egyptian god brought over…
The legend of Pan’s birth is the best representation of the mystery and bizarreness of Pan – because unlike other gods or characters of Greek mythology, there was never one predominant or major narrative with Pan. We just have a LOT of various different birth stories. The three oldest stories we have about his birth, all Greek in origin, are contradictory. On one side, the Homeric Hymn to Pan claims that he was born when Hermes seduced the “daughter of Dryops”, an Arcadian woman. Pan was a “marvelous” child, noisy, merry and constantly laughing – but his goat’s hooves and horns frightened humans. His Arcadian family abandoned Pan as a baby in the wilds, but Hermes saved the baby, and brought him to Olympus, where he amused all of the gods (especially Dionysos) and he was thus called “Pan”, meaning “all”, because he delighted “all” of the gods (We’ll return to that later). On the other side, there is the “Histories” of Herodotus, which highlight how Pan is one of the “three youngest Greek gods”, alongside Herakles and Dionysos – born out of an affair between Hermes and Penelope (yes, Odysseus’ Penelope), though Herodotus adds that it is unclear if Pan was a mortal man who was divinized after his death, or if the son of Penelope was actually a perfectly regular human man living after or around the Trojan War, and who was named after an older figure, the REAL divine Pan. And the third story comes from Epimenides – we do not have Epimenides’ actual text, but other sources mentions his record of Pan’s birth, which seems to predate chronologically the other two sources I mentioned before, and in Epimenides’ story Pan was the child born out of the affair between Zeus and Callisto (the huntress of Artemis).
These three stories are from the BC era, but if we jump to the second century of our current era, we suddenly have tons of new stories about Pan’s birth popping out. One story keeps Pan as a marriage born out of Penelope’s unfaithfulness, but with Antinous this time (one of the “hundred suitors”) – after giving birth to the shameful child she fled to a mountain to hide it, and it is where Hermes found and took it to become a god. Another story rather keeps Pan as one of Zeus’ numerous illegitimate children, but this time born out of a nymph called Thymbris. A third story mentions a nymph of Arcadia named Sinoe as a mother, with no specific father. Pindar made Pan the son of Apollo and Penelope, Theocritus rather claimed Pan was the child of Odysseus, commentators of Virgil claimed Pan was born of an orgy Penelope had when she slept with ALL of the “hundred suitors” in her palace (hence his name meaning “all”…). As you can see, the stories of Pan’s birth are varied, numerous and contradictory.
There is also another branch of texts that rather go with the idea that there wasn’t one Pan, but two “Pans”, hence why there are so many tales about his birth. It is the theory that for example Aeschylus had, during “Classical” Greece: he distinguished the “younger Pan”, son of Zeus and twin of Arcas (a legendary hunter-king of Arcadia), and the “older Pan”, a son of Kronos (and thus on equal footing with first-generation Olympians). Apollodorus also had the idea of dual Pans, though he claimed that the “younger Pan” was the son of Hermes and Penelope everybody talked about, while the “older Pan” was rather the son of Zeus and a nymph called Hybris (yes, like the flaw “hybris/hubris”), and that this “old Pan” was the mentor of Apollo during the god’s youth. And finally, we have Nonnus’ own late poetic inventions, in which he claims that the two Pans were identical twins, both born of Hermes, but yet birthed by two different mothers. One was Pan god of the hunters – he was called Agreus, had the power of prophecy and was an expert at killing beasts. The second was Pan god of the shepherds – he was called Nomios, was a talented musician, and the son of Penelope (not Odysseus’ wife this time, but a nymph with the same name).
II) Pan’s hobbies: sex and music
Rivaling his numerous birth tales, are Pan’s love tales. Pan was either depicted as a lustful deity constantly running after women, who in return were terrified by his ugly and frightening appearance (which makes him closer to the satyrs), either as an actually swell guy, great seducer, horned Casanova, who however had a bunch of tragic and unfortunate love stories.
In the versions where the nymph Echo isn’t madly in love with Narcissus, her love story will rather go to Pan. For example one story claims she had rejected the love of all men who sought after her, and this angered the lecherous Pan, who in a mad and lustful rage, tore Echo to pieces. Gaia, the earth, absorbing the body parts of the nymph within her, only left her voice behind – which formed the “echo” we know today. An alternate version rather depicts Pan and Echo’s story as a consensual love, which gave birth to two daughters, Iambe and Iynx.
Beyond Echo, Pan was also known to have loved the nymph Pitys, and once again we have two different versions. In the short version, Pitys turned herself into a pine tree to avoid the lust of the goat-god. In the longer version, Pan and Boreas (the North Wind) were fighting over Pitys’ love: Boreas uprooted all the trees to impress her with his strength, but Pan merely laughed to seduce her, and she chose to love him for his merriness. Boreas, angry, then threw the nymph off a cliff, and Gaia turned her into a pine tree. Virgil, the Roman poet, added a story about Pan seducing Semele (goddess of the moon), through some tricks with a sheep’s skin – but people think Virgil was simply rewriting the Greek story of Endymion and Selene. Hyginus also evoked a love story Pan had with the nymph Eupheme (the nurse of the nine Muses), a love story which later gave birth to a son named Crotos.
Pan’s second passion, beyond nymphs, was music. And his love for nymphs AND music shows up in the tale of Syrinx. Syrinx was a wood nymph of Arcadia that Pan tried to seduce. She wanted none of it, and fled from him, but he followed her everywhere she went. So she turned herself into a reed to escape him – and whenever the wind blew through them, the sadness of the harassed nymph could be heard as a plaintive melody. Pan then took the reeds, cut them into seven pieces, and created a musical instrument he named after his beloved Syrinx. The “syrinx”, aka “Pan’s Flute”. Now, let’s think about it… the story of a poor innocent nymph harassed by a rapist god and that has to turn herself into a plant? Yep, that’s an Ovid story, fully Roman one. But to be fair, Ovid did not invent Pan’s connection to the “pan’s flute” – the Greeks did consider that Pan had invented the instrument known as the “syrinx”, and they believed that he regularly played it in the wildlands where he dwelled. In the “Hymn to Pan”, a very ancient Greek text, there is a description of Pan playing “rustic music” in the evening, after the hunt – a sweet and low melody which made the nymphs dance in the woods. Just like the other satyrs, Pan was often depicted as a dancer and musician n the retinue of Dionysos – for as I said, he was a joyful, merry creature of laugh and music. But he was still a dangerous being whose mad lust could tear girls to piece… Beautiful but wild, just like nature.
There is also a story tied to Pan concerning Daphnis, a Sicilian shepherd who invented pastoral poetry. The legend said that Pan taught Daphnis how to play the “pan-pipes”, making him the first human wielder of the Pan’s flute – and apparently Daphnis was also Pan’s lover during his time with him. [Though we do not have exact texts for that – the sources here are Christian criticism and mockery of pagan tales]. The Romans heavily reinforced Pan’s connection to music by rewriting the myth of Apollo and Marsyas – you know, how a satyr tried to challenge the god of music in a music contest? Well, the Romans like Hyginus or Ovid, rewrote the myth by replacing the humble satyr Marsyas with the god Pan (no need to tell you, the whole “the loser is flayed alive” thing was removed). Fun fact: it is in this Roman narrative that we find the famous story of “how Midas got his donkey ears”, as a punishment for preferring Pan’s music over Apollo’s.
III) Pan’s interventions
Pan could literally be called the “god of the deus ex machina”, because in a lot of legends he just pops up when someone needs something, and then disappears. For example, according to Pausanias, when Demeter, both angry at Poseidon’s raping her and Persephone’s disappearance, removed herself from the world and made the earth wither away, she hid herself in a grotto where no god would find her. No god… except Pan, who hunted her down, found her, and then reported her secret location to Zeus. A not Greek, but Roman story this time (from Apuleius’ The Golden Ass) claims that, when Psyche wandered the world grieving the loss of her lover, Cupid/Eros, she met Pan (who was at the time all lovey-dovey with the nymph Echo). Pan then comforted Psyche, talked her out of her suicide projects, and advised her to give love one more chance.
Mind you, not all of Pan’s “interventions” were as peaceful and subtle as these ones. You see, the Greeks considered Pan the god of panic. The very word “panic” comes from the Greek “panikon”, which was created after Pan’s name. It was believed that Pan randomly appeared to those that wandered the forests and the woods – and his weird appearance would terrify people, sending them into a “panic”. Other tales rather speak of how he likes to take a nap during the hottest hours of the day, and if someone ever woke him up, he would pursue them in a mad anger – again, sending them into “pure panic”. When Nonnus described Dionysos’ expedition in India, he wrote that Pan, who was a companion of the wine-god at the time, used shadows ad echoes to terrify an army that was attacking them, invoking “strange voices coming out of nowhere” to make them flee in terror.
A fourth story, this time a historical anecdote from Greek historians, told of how Athens was attacked by the Persians, and a message was sent to Sparta to ask for help. The Spartans said they couldn’t help until the ten-day religious ritual they had just started was over – so the Athenian messenger returned empty-handed and depressed to the city. On his way back, the Athenian crossed the mountains of Arcadia, and there met Pan, who randomly promised to help the Athenians. He did it by spreading fear and terror among the Persian troops. Athens was victorious, and thanked Pan with a special cult in his honor. I can even talk of a last story that claims Pan helped Zeus during the Titanomachy! This legend claims that when the Titans attacked Olympus, Pan brought terror in their heart with his powerful voice, and either made them flee or frightened them enough that the Olympians could easily defeat them. As you can see, this legend is tied to the concept of the “older Pan” – not a Pan born out of Hermes or out of Zeus’ affairs, but a Pan either born out of Cronos, or born out of Amalthea, the same goat that nursed baby Zeus, thus making him the “foster brother” of Zeus…
So… A peaceful musician and good Samaritan, that is also a dreadful monster causing bursts of terror and irrational fears. A shameful son rejected by humanity, and yet the merry-maker of the gods. Beloved and repelled by the nymphs. One god and yet many characters. A hunter and a shepherd all at once: Pan is a god of contrasts and contradiction, a deity with an unusual loose canon in Greek mythology. His very name became a heavy subject of debate and reinterpretation.
Nowadays, experts at linguistics claim that “Pan” comes from an archaic Arcadian word that meant “nature”, “growth” or “rustic”, something along those lines, clearly identifying Pan as a rural god. But for most of the Greeks of the Classic era, “Pan” sounded too much like their own word “pan”, which meant “all”. So they found various stories to explain why the god was called “All” – ranging from him being the “son of all” fathered by a hundred men, to him being the “jester of all” by amusing all of the Olympian gods. [Note however that Pan was never depicted on Olympus, expect for this one birth story of his – he was usually depicted hanging out with nymphs and satyrs on earth, and the only gods he interacted with are earth-roaming gods like Dionysos or Demeter]. But with time, Greek philosophers decided to take “Pan” literally, and considered Pan to be the “god of all”, the spirit of the very universe, the all-encompassing world personified inside this entity uniting in himself all the opposite sides of nature. Charm and ugliness, peace and wrath, human and animal…
- - - - - - -
Having reached this point in the post, I need to bring another piece of the puzzle into this whole Pan mystery… Aegipan. A name that literally means “Goat-Pan”, and yet can be so much more…
Aegipan is a character of Greek mythology of late origin. In terms of Greek stories, he is only described by “late” Greek authors. We first have him mentioned by Eratosthenes (Greek author of the 3rd to 2nd century BC) – there Aegipan is said to have been the father of Pan, and that he was actually half-goat and half-fish, “just like Pan his son”… So already we have a departure from the usual Pan depiction. Next Greek author on the list is Pseudo-Apollodorus, where in his Bibliotheca he talks of a legend according to which, when the monster Typhon stole Zeus’ sinews, Hermes and Aegipan teamed up to retrieve them – they stole there from the cave where Typhon had placed it, a grotto kept by a monster known as “Delphyne”, before giving them back to Zeus. We also got several Greek art pieces depicting Aegipan as a half-goat half-fish creature – the beast that would later become the Capricorn of the Zodiac. The other tales concerning Aegipan are all Roman in origin: Hyginus claims that Aegipan was a son of Zeus and a woman named Aega (though variations evoke Apollo as a father), and that somehow he was transferred into the stars (hence his position as the Capricorn constellation). Plutarch rather claimed that Aegipan was an alternate name or identity for the Roman god Silvanus – and that he was born out of an incestuous relationship between a daughter and her father… As for Pliny the Elder he did not consider the Aegipan a singular entity, but an entire species of satyr humanoid living in the wildlands of Libya… Overall people debated back then (and still do) about what Aegipan is. For some he was a satyr-like creature like Pan, for others he was like the Capricorn sign half goat half fish. For some he was distinct from Pan, either his son or father. For others Aegipan was just another name, or another form of Pan (there are various retelling of the Typhon’s myth where it is Pan that teams up with Hermes, and Aegipan is just treated as an epithet). Hyginus notably told of a legend claiming that Aegipan was merely the Egyptian form of Pan, that the god took when Typhon arrived in Greece – in fear, Pan fled by jumping into the Nile and turning into the “water goat” we know today. This is all very confusing. In fact the story about Pan being the “foster brother” of Zeus born out of Amalthea? It was originally Aegipan’s story. (But of course if Aegipan is Pan all along, then it was always Pan’s story…).
… And of course, I have to talk about the famous part with Pan’s legend. The “Pan is dead” story. The late, late Greek historian Plutarch told in one of his works of a legend according to which Pan was the “only god that died”. He said that under the reign of the Roman emperor Tiberus, a sailor heard during one of his travels a mysterious voice from the shores of the island of Praxi. The mysterious voice travelling above the waves called the sailor by his name, and told him to announce at his next stop that the “great god Pan is dead”. The sailor did, which thoroughly depressed everybody, and so the news spread of the “god Pan” being somehow dead. Plutarch wrote this story in a treaty entirely called “On the obsolescence of oracles” – which as you can guess it a treaty going against superstitions, outdated rituals and many un-philosophical aspects of religion. And as the Roman Empire became the first Christian empire, you can guess that Plutarch’s story was HEAVILY reused by the first Christians as a way to rejoice at the “death” of the old, pagan gods and falsely divine “demons”. As I want to point out, this story is not part of the Greek or Roman religious canon – it was a historical anecdote, from late Greece/full Roman times, that was taken back heavily by the early Christians, and then was heavily talked about, debated and reinterpreted by various authors of modernity, from Rabelais to Chesterton, passing by Robert Graves and John Milton.
Overall, one could easily argue that Pan isn’t dead, thanks to the HUGE cultural legacy he brought with him, and how he is still a VERY relevant figure today. He got a huge popularity in literature around the 19th and early 20th century – from Machen’s “The Great God Pan” which would become proto-Lovecraftian literature, to his appearance as the “Piper at the Gates of Dawn” from The Wind in the Willows, passing by his inspiration for the famous “Peter Pan”… He got heavily used and talked about by Christianity throughout the centuries, as he was heralded as a demon, a form of the devil, another name for Satan, and soon became THE archetypal depiction of the forces of Hell (this is because of Christians’ association of Pan with Satan that now the devil and demons are seen as having horns and hooves). And of course, neo-paganism (especially Wicca-style movements) “revived” Pan as the omnipresent and singular male “Horned God”, that was also the secret “god of the witches” people mistook as Satan…

🐉Anon hereThe idea of big sis' Shenhe that li-Love-li brought up does get the gears of my thought-organ wirring with thoughts, questions and ideas.
Stuff like:I
f we were to be her bio-sibling, would we come from the same mother (and would that mean that Shenhe's pappy would attempt to sacrifice the sibling along with her? Which could be doubly fucked up, because Shenhe's sibling would probably only be a toddler at the oldest at that time, +that now could mean potentially 2 emotionally stunted and/or confused humans raised by the adepti), or would they be the child of another woman that Dadhe got with some time after he failed to bring his og wife back? Who Shenhe discovers the existence of later down the line (perhaps with the help of the Traveller and/or Chongyun)
I mean either way, it's +1 Auntie/Uncle for our boi Chongus!
Now that I think about it, wouldn't Chongyun referring to Shenhe as "Auntie" imply the existence of a blood-sibling? Or is it more of an honorary thing of a sort?
Another thought: since it is pretty reasonable to assume that Shenhe would be among the more protective sorts of older siblings, so Xingqiu better watch his ass, because something tells me Shenhe's gonna watching like a hawk around her sibling. [Name]'s gonna have to have a talk with big sis' before she ends up doing something that'll get the Qixing on them XD. Basically imagine her "About Xingqiu" voiceline, but with her sibling rather than the Traveller lol.
Shenhe: So… he was just joking with you?
[Name]: Yes.
Shenhe: …you are sure?
[Name]: Yep.
Shenhe: Absolutely certain?[Name]: Mhm.
Shenhe: How do you know he wasn't just hiding a threat behind honeyed words meant to make you lower your guard-
[Name]: SHENHE, YOU'RE OVERTHINKING IT!Shenhe: Am I-?
[Name]: Y E S !
Shenhe: …
[Name]: …
Shenhe: …okay.
^I could see a convo going somewhere along the lines of this.
Oh gods. Dude, assuming that Shenhe and her sibling were born from the same mother, and that their father also tries to sacrifice the siblingalong with her, imagine how much worse Shenhe's rage could be? Like, it's already bad enough in cannon that the adepti had to essentially emotionally numb her, now you add in the equation of a sibling who was put in that same, horrific situation…
I could see Shenhe's younger sibling also acting as a sort of emotional support, helping quell her homicidal thoughts when they are at their worst. Maybe they do carry a grudge towards their father for trying to offer them up to the remnants of an evil God, but maybe it's not as bad as Shenhe's, so they didn't need to be numbed like she did.
Honestly, there's a few potential routes that could be taken with older sibling Shenhe. Lots of possibilities of how the two's dynamic could be handled!
Ooooh, while we're on the topic, what do you think could be some potential vision options for the younger sibling? 🤔I could see maybe Pyro, as an opposite to Shenhe, perhaps showing how they might be a bit more in-touch with their emotoins than she may be, or perhaps Electro, as a representation of how outcasted they may feel due to how the people of Liyue near-comstantly mistake them for Adpeti (because that's an unusually common trait of many Electro vision holders have, being outcasts of a sort in someway, somehow).
hi dear!!!!!! hello!!!! @li-love-li look you are inspiring my anons hehe <33
THAT'S SOMETHING I WAS THINKING ABOUT and i think that is soo fucked up. but you know, if they were also sacrificed with her, i think shenhe would just be so impossibly protective of them as they are raised among the adepti. that's her baby sibling, man. she would sooner die than let them get hurt. and that second option!! i think that has its own appeals. i feel like shenhe would want to meet them. i'm not sure why? but i feel like she'd want to know them. and maybe they also had a rough relationship with dadhe, since he... you know. sacrificed his first child. he already doesn't seem like a particularly great dad based on that fact alone (but i haven't read shenhe's lore in a while, so perhaps he was decent before his wife died? or maybe he was always a poor dad idk. ultimately it's insane that he decided to LITERALLY SACRIFICE HIS CHILD PLEASEEE).
but that's so true! another auntie/uncle for chongyun, as he deserves <3
and, as for chongyun's referral to shenhe, i think it's a cultural thing actually. i could be wrong because i am not chinese and have never been anywhere near china as a whole, but i think it's culturally appropriate for younger boys to call older women auntie. in chongyun & shenhe's case specifically, i think it is also a matter of their closeness. i also don't think they are bio-related, rather, i think shenhe just took up the auntie role in his life. i could be wrong about that too LMAO but yeah!!
AND HELPPPP THAT'S SO REAL she's so protective.... it comes from a good place though!!!
and MAN she would be so furious, i think, as if she isn't angry enough already. i think thw adepti would be even more adamant on her wearing the red ropes because of her sibling. i think she would just feel an uncontrollable flood of emotions every time she looked at their scarred face. and it's not because she's mad at them, not at all! she just cannot fathom how their vile father took a look at their once-innocent face and decided to sacrifice them with her.
that's very true, though! i think they would be good at helping to keep her calm. and i feel like shenhe would harbor the majority of the rage. like. her younger sibling also cannot stand the thought of their dad, but is much calmer about it than shenhe is.
PYRO VISION [NAME] OHHHHH i love that.... shenhe, cryo user shenhe, who is cold and perhaps a bit standoffish to some even if that isn't how she wants to be seen. shenhe who cannot allow herself to feel her destructive emotions. shenhe who feels as if there is a layer of glass between her and the rest of the world... meanwhile [name], pyro user [name], who is warm and open and feels their emotions very deeply to the point where their core is shaken easily. [name] who is deeply connected with the world around them.
shenhe, whose pain pushed her away from the world, and [name], whose pain brought them closer to it.
i can see shenhe's baby sibling also being outcasted and misunderstood, but somehow, it feels so appealing to have them be even closer to the world because of their pain...... sobs
all of the potential routes are so interesting to explore <3

10 cartoons with great LGBTQ representation
Tumblr media
Representation matters! This is why I love when cartoons incorporate LGBTQ representation. It is always a plus for me when a cartoon shows all parts of the world, and sadly, the corporate world often shuts down any idea of LGBTQ representation. However, I have found many great shows that perfectly highlight the LGBTQ community. In this blog, I will be discussing 10 cartoons with great LGBTQ representation, in order from best representation to the worst representation.
10. Arthur
Tumblr media
Now, this is a series that did not get to utilize too much representation, but I had to include it because of the fact that it is making an effort to introduce representation with the younger age demographic, which is, unfortunately, looked down upon by TV networks. Arthur had a pretty impactful episode where the male teacher got married to another man. While many like myself loved the representation, there were some who did not like it, causing a bit of controversy. However, the fact that Arthur’s creative team went ahead with it to represent a lot of us who are underrepresented in the media is touching.
Arthur is a PBS Kids TV series which ran for 25 seasons and 253 episodes from 1996 to 2022. The series revolved around Arthur, an aardvark that is in third grade. The episodes consist of him and his daily interactions with the different people in his town of Elwood City, whether that be his interactions with his friends like Buster or his family. The series has a lot to love, and despite being targeted to a younger audience, I find that there is a lot to love even at my current age. For instance, I love the fact that the characters are all distinct and identifiable. Furthermore, I love how the show can be wholesome at times, and I love fact that the show has a lot of humor that older people can love despite it being targeted to a younger demographic. Arthur truly was one of the best shows of my preschool years, and it continues to be enjoyable for me. You can watch Arthur on Amazon Prime!
9. The Loud House
Tumblr media
When I saw The Loud House’s LGBTQ couples, I was very pleasantly surprised. Now, the reason for this is because in 2015, I did not see many cartoons to have LGBTQ representation, and seeing The Loud House pleasantly surprised me at the time. The series had multiple LGBTQ couples in the series. Early on, one of the main characters has parents who are both males in a same-sex relationship. Furthermore, in the second season, one of the sisters in the family is revealed to be into another female character, and later on, the two become a couple. There are a few other minor characters who come from the LGBTQ community as well aside from those.
The Loud House is a Nickelodeon series that has been running since 2016, and is currently running. Right now, it has 6 seasons of 156 episodes. The series revolves around Lincoln Loud, who lives in a house among 10 sisters, with each having a unique quirk. From oldest to youngest, the sisters are Lori (the eldest), Leni (the less intelligent one), Luna (the music loving one), Luan (the comedian), Lynn (the sports player), Lucy (the goth girl), Lola (the diva), Lana (the rugged one), Lisa (the child genius) and Lily (the baby). The family all go through unique situations on an episode-by-episode basis, and as the series goes on, more locations are introduced, leaving room for more plotlines. Despite being episodic, there is also some change amongst the family dynamic throughout. For instance, certain characters have boyfriends/girlfriends in the later episodes as opposed to the earlier ones. While The Loud House definitely had a dip in quality for me, I did enjoy the first few seasons, and I think it is a strong series with great LGBTQ+ representation. You can watch The Loud House on Netflix!
8. OK KO! Let’s be Heroes
Tumblr media
I am sadly starting this list with a cartoon that deserved way more attention. OK KO: Let’s be Heroes was a Cartoon Network series running from 2017 to 2019 for 3 seasons and 112 episodes. The series had some excellent moments of LGBTQ representation. Some instances of this include the fact that the villain of the series Boxman is pan-sexual. Another LGBTQ character that I enjoyed watching was the sidekick Enid, who was a bi-sexual, and had a girlfriend named Red Action. Alongside that, there were other strong pairs of LGBTQ characters throughout the series, and it really stood out with the representation.
OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes was a cartoon Network series running from 2017 to 2019 and for a total of 3 seasons and 112 episodes. OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes is about Kaio Kincaid who hopes to one day become the world’s greatest superhero. In his timeline (the series takes place in the future), he works at a store selling items for heroes known as Gar’s Hero Supply and Bodega. Alongside his fellow employees, Radicles (an alien from a planet known as Planet X) and Enid (a teenager working the cash register at Gar’s Hero Supply and Bodega), he often fights off Boxmore, a store selling superhero equipment to villains. Alongside OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes’ LGBTQ representation, some of my other favorite aspects of the series are the artstyle, the concept and the intriguing characters! OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes is definitely a great series, and if it was treated better by the network, I am sure that it would be acknowledged more, not just for its quality, but for its LGBTQ representation. You can watch OK KO! Let’s be Heroes on HBO Max or Hulu!
7. Amphibia
Tumblr media
Now, if you know me, Amphibia is my favorite show! While I do think it is the best cartoon, I do think some cartoons are better in terms of representation! That doesn’t change the fact that it did a great job with its representation! Amphibia had a variety of characters that were a part of the LGBTQ community, and it was amazing to see! Later on, the creator even revealed that one of the main characters was also a bi-sexual. We see in the last episode that she even has a bisexual flag in her car! There were many other instances of amazing representation of LGBTQ characters, and like many of the characters in all of the entries on this list, Amphibia represented these characters accurately!
Amphibia is a series which ran from 2019 to 2022 on Disney with a total of 3 episodes and 58 episodes. Amphibia revolves around a Thai-American girl named Anne Boonchuy, who alongside her friends, Marcy and Sasha steal a box on her birthday. Little did they know of the box’s true powers - upon taking the box, the three are transported to the world of Amphibia, a land full of frog creatures. Anne awakens separated from her friends, and she tries finding her way back to them and back home. However, on this journey, she meets many new friends like Sprig the frog, but she also meets many different enemies. She also finds out that not everyone is truly the way that they seem to be. This series is amazing! We are brought forth a very intriguing concept that is further expanded on with very fun and loveable characters and humor. Amphibia is truly my favorite cartoon, and I am glad to be a fan! You can watch Amphibia on Disney Plus or on Disney Now!
6. The Hollow
Tumblr media
Now, we go onto another series which deserves more talk regarding the LGBTQ representation: The Hollow. One standout from The Hollow, in terms of LGBTQ representation, is that one of the main characters is actually gay. This stood out to me for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the character openly stated that he is gay, which is something that I found admirable because with the way networks are, they often refuse that (some of my favorite shows had to unfortunately remove LGBTQ characters). I also thought that the character was written well, and he still felt human.
The Hollow is a Netflix series which had a total of 2 seasons and 20 episodes from 2018 to 2020. The series revolved around three teenagers, Mira, Adam and Kai, who all wake up in a strange new world with no memories of who they are. Together, they embark on a journey to explore this world, and find their way back to wherever they truly belong. In this new world, they encounter new people, some of which are there to aid them, and some of which are there to take them down. They also battle different sorts of monsters throughout the series. The Hollow is a series which I loved during its short run, and while I wish it was longer, I am happy with what I had got. The series had some amazing worldbuilding, awesome diversity and I also have to discuss how much I admire the color choice. The colors are intentionally darker and more gloomy, which matches with the series. I don’t often see shows go this route, so it felt like a nice breath of fresh air to me. The Hollow was definitely a fun series, with great representation, and I hope that one day, it gets more recognition for how great the series was and how much love the team put in. You can watch The Hollow on Netflix!
5. Craig of the Creek
Tumblr media
Craig of the Creek was another series which stood out to me in terms of its LGBTQ representation. We got introduced to a variety of different characters that are a part of the LGBTQ community as the series went on. Early on in the series, we get introduced to two lesbian characters who early on have signs of liking each other, and end up kissing later on in the second season of the show. We do get introduced to other characters in the series who are in same-sex relationships, and we get introduced to a non-binary character named Angel in the series. The series definitely had lots of LGBTQ representation, aside from just this, and it was truly nice to see.
Craig of the Creek is a series running from 2017 and is still running. Currently, it is sitting at 3 seasons of 120 episodes. The series revolves around a boy named Craig, who, along with his friends Kelsey and JP go through many sorts of different adventures at the creek they live near. In the series, they go through all types of journeys whether it be learning to care for a pet or watching a scary movie. The series definitely has much to love. Personally, I love the wholesomeness of the series, and the characters help bring the series to life. I also am in love with the character designs as they all look very distinct and appealing. My favorite in terms of design is JP because while he looks modern and blends in with the other characters, he also has a classic look to him. I have not caught up with the episodes yet due to being busy with many other things, but from what I have seen, I absolutely love Craig of the Creek! You can watch Craig of the Creek on HBO Max!
4. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Tumblr media
Now, I am sure many expected this one! This was a series that was outstanding in the field of representation! She-Ra and the Princesses of Power had a variety of characters belonging to the LGBTQ community, and the characters were represented well. There were also lots of different types of LGBTQ characters whether they be gay characters, bisexual characters, transgender characters. There was lots of representation for many groups, and that was one of the standouts for me when watching this series. The representation made it all the more loveable to me!
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was a Netflix original animation which ran from 2018 to 2020 for a total of 5 seasons and 52 episodes. The series was about two orphans named Adora and Catra who were trained to be a part of a group of soldiers in the Horde. Eventually, Adora finds a magic sword that transforms her into She-Ra, the Princess of Power. She used her newfound power to go against the Horde. Her first course of action is to rebuild this group of kingdoms ruled by other princesses known as the Princess Alliance. From there, the conflict between the Princess Alliance and the leader of the soldiers, the Hordak, continues to intensify, leaving us with some high stakes episodes later on. You can watch She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix!
3. The Owl House
Tumblr media
This series was the one that made me lose lots of respect for Disney. The Owl House was a series, which did an amazing job with its representation, but was shut down by Disney since it “didn’t match with their brand”. The Owl House was a series, which had the main character as a part of the LGBTQ community. Now, while we do have many animated shows with characters being a part of the LGBTQ community, we don’t get to see this often with many main characters. Furthermore, the two are treated like a normal couple in the series - their preference does not change how the characters treat them, which shows how important it is to be accepting of people. Furthermore, the series also has a non-binary character named Raine, who is also treated with respect and is refered to with the proper pronouns.
The Owl House is a series, which ran from 2020 and is still running at the moment with 2 seasons and 40 episodes. Though, a third season is expected to debut sometime soon. The Owl House is about a girl named Luz who ends up in a completely distinct world known as Boiling Isles when traveling to a summer camp her mom signed her up for. At Boiling Isles, she encounters a witch named Eda. At first, Eda asks Luz to help her with one mission, and in return, she will send Luz home, but once the mission is completed, she decides that she wants to stay to become a witch. Eda agrees to train her, and in return, Luz has to work for her. The Owl House is a great show for many reasons, with one being the amazing LGBTQ representation I mentioned earlier. Aside from that, the series has amazing characters and such great worldbuilding. While it did get mistreated by Disney, I will always have hope that it may get more content one day, and I really recommend all of you to check it out! You can watch The Owl House on Disney+ or Disney Now!
2. Danger & Eggs
Tumblr media
Now, we are covering another series targeted to a slightly younger demographic. Danger & Eggs heavily focused on representation. The creator of the series was transgender as well. The main character, D.D. Danger, is a gender-free lesbian, and many other characters are also a part of the LGBTQ community. For instance, we have a group of two gay dads, a non-binary character and many more. Furthermore, many of the voice actors themselves are a part of the LGBTQ community, and while that may not matter to many, I find the show’s message of inclusion more powerful because of that.
Danger & Eggs is an Amazon Prime series that was released in 2017 and ran for a season consisting of 13 episodes. The series revolved around a gender-free girl named D.D. Danger, who often goes on different sorts of adventures with her giant talking egg best friend Phillip. Their adventures are always entertaining, and they span from a variety of topics all the way from saving an injured racoon to going back to the medieval times. Now, personally, I love the LGBTQ representation the most about the series. Though, the series does have lots to offer like the cool character designs and the awesome plotlines. I am glad I found Danger & Eggs, and I recommend all my followers to give it a chance! You can watch Danger & Eggs on Amazon Prime!
1. Steven Universe
Tumblr media
I’m sure this one was obvious. This show really pushed limits to help us get the representation we deserve today, so I have to consider at least one of the 10 cartoons with great LGBTQ representation. Now, where do I begin with Steven Universe? Well, how about I bring one of the more known moments of the series amongst the cartoon community - the wedding scene. This was groundbreaking for cartoons because this was the first cartoon which actually had a same-sex wedding. Aside from that extremely progressive scene, there were many other instances where Steven Universe showed progressiveness throughout. For instance, the Gems in Steven Universe are all non-binary. There are many other instances of LGBTQ representation in Steven Universe, but if I covered them all, we would be here for a while!
Steven Universe was a Cartoon Network series which ran from 2013 to 2019 for a total of 5 seasons and 160 episodes, and alongside that, it had a TV movie and an epilogue series known as Steven Universe Future. Steven Universe is about Steven, who is a half human. The other half of him is known as a Crystal Gem, which he inherited from his mother. The Crystal Gems are alien warriors who protect the world from any harm that may occur. Steven is not the only Crystal Gem, as he is also accompanied by three others named Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. The series starts with him joining the other Crystal Gems on their missions and learning about his hidden power as a Crystal Gem. As the series goes on, the group find new allies, but the stakes also get much higher and more intense. Steven Universe was definitely a beautiful series. The representation and progressiveness was definitely my favorite part as you guys could probably tell. Furthermore, I loved the choice of colors they chose as it made the series look beautiful. The characters were also beautifully written. Steven Universe is an amazing series that not only had an effect on fans, but also had an effect on future cartoons as ever since Steven Universe left its mark, many other cartoons followed along with the representation. You can watch Steven Universe on HBO Max or on Hulu!
Well, these were 10 cartoons with great LGBTQ representation in my opinion! Which ones do you agree with? Which ones do you agree with? What are some entries you would add? And be sure to follow me for more cartoon related blogs as I post them regularly!

Jazz Quick ~
Growing up, Jazz has always struggled with finding her place in the world. As the second oldest of five siblings, Jazz struggled to find her role in her huge family. She’s very close to her twin sibling, Bell, feeling that they have an unbreakable bond. However, she’s always tested that relationship - whether intentionally or unknowingly. Upon the arrival of her younger siblings, Reed and Glitch, Jazz couldn’t cope with so many sims around her. She started acting out, realising that her angry antics got her the attention she craved.
The trouble in the household almost tore the Quick family apart, but as she matured, Jazz started to take accountability for her actions. She’s made up with her younger siblings, bringing the family back together. With the neat and gloomy traits, Jazz has a lot of emotions to process all the time, so felt so bad that she was pushing her support network away without realising it. Her family stood by her, no matter her actions, and she’s grateful to have a large family now.
Now that Jazz is a teenager, she’s developed a curiosity about her alien heritage. All aliens have special abilities, leading Jazz to gain an interest in all things to do with occults. She’s started to push her boundaries again, but not to spite her family, but rather to explore the huge world around her. Trespassing, pranking objects to test emotions - nothing is beyond Jazz’s limits. Jazz wants to be a good representation of her alien lineage. She wants to show the world how amazing her species is - through art, music, culture - anything to show the diversity of Sixam’s residents!
When she becomes a young adult, Jazz follows her twin sibling, Bell, to university to study music, wanting to show sims on her course about her alien culture! However, will a music degree be enough for her ambitions, or does she need to do something more? Bell Quick ~
Unlike their twin sibling, Jazz, Bell has always been confident in themselves. A naturally curious mind, Bell loves discovering new things. Whether that’s the traits of other sims, or picking up new skills, Bell is good at anything they put their mind to!
Self expression has always been at the forefront to Bell’s personality. They’ve explored their gender identity, finding themselves most comfortable not conforming to any gender. With confidence in themselves, they’ve found numerous interests - singing, acting and writing poetry. If there’s a way for Bell to express themselves, they’re going to master that skill and own it! Their bubbly, outgoing personality means they’re very popular at school, able to make friends easily! They’re at the top of the drama club, landing lead roles in many plays. Their favourite acting gigs are musicals, where they can show off their acting and singing skills!
However, beneath the bold personality, lies a squeamish, geeky sim and who always tries to be bigger than they feel. This can lead them to being a bit full on, but as long as someone is smiling, Bell will always be unapologetically them!
Upon ageing up, Bell focuses on which of their skills will get them a good career. Whilst they love acting, gigs can be unreliable, so they go to university with their twin sister, Jazz, to study music. However, their twin sister, Jazz, can be a huge influence in their life. Jazz breaks boundaries whilst discovering what she wants from life. Will Jazz influence Bell to be bold, throwing caution to the wind and to follow their dreams?

"Encanto" is one of the best Disney movies ever, and here's why
1. Representation of mental health in a children's movie
Tumblr media
This movie so brilliantly showed mental health issues in many of it's characters. Mirabel thinks that she isn't good enough because of Abuela, which is a good sign of Avoidant Personality Disorder. Luisa obviously has crippling anxiety from the weight that's been put on her shoulders, and Bruno is showing hints of depression and anxiety as well.
As the oldest sibling of my family who had severe anxiety all my life, never have I ever related to Disney songs as much as "Surface Pressure" and "Waiting On A Miracle". I think it's beautiful how Disney made not one but two songs about mental illness, and dealing with it. It teaches kids to not hide their feelings!
2. Showing diversity by having a Colombian family as the main characters
Tumblr media
This movie is one of the rare ones which don't have a white protagonist. I noticed that in the last few years Disney started showing more and more diversity with non-white female leads (Tiana, Moana, Raya, and now Mirabel), and I especially love how it's a family! A great detail that needs to be recognized is that even tho they do look alike (because they are a family), none of the characters look the same. I feel like in the older movies, even when there was some diversity, all people of color would look the same. It shows how much Disney has improved!
It also shows toxic family relations in Latina families, like how Abuela favorited others over Mirabel, especially because Mirabel is a middle child. This movie is on all levels so realistic. Besides the magic.
3. Having a strong female lead with realist proportions and an actual personality
Tumblr media
Since the beginning of 2000 up until now, Disney and Pixar have been doing a great job at making characters with realistic, complex personalities, and it really shows. They really went from having white princesses being saved by a prince charming to strong, diverse women who have enthusiasm and take charge by themselves. Don't get me wrong, I still love the older white princesses, but I'm glad that nowadays every little girl can look at the screen and see a princess that looks like them! Disney still has a long way ahead of them when it comes to diversity (would it KILL you to make an LGBTQIA+ character?? Or a Muslim character??), but we gotta appreciate how far they came!
I also loved this movie for it's lack of small waists, for it's realistically sized noses and actual hips on characters. Feels good to have realistically proportionate people in cartoons, it reminds kids that all shapes and sizes are gorgeous!
4. Awesome plot and great animation
Tumblr media
The plot and even the idea of "Encanto" is really interesting, and it isn't one of the classical, overused tropes. The story is very original, and it isn't the classical family cliché.
I loved the animation, it's really raw and full of emotion. There were some scenes I didn't believe were actually animated because of how good they are, like Abuela crying.
5. Having an amazing soundtrack written by the legend Lin-Manuel Miranda himself
Tumblr media
Name one bad song from this soundtrack. I'll wait.
From the beat to the lyrics and even the placement of the songs in the right moment, everything about this soundtrack is awesome! The tunes are so catchy (everybody has "We Don't Talk About Bruno" stuck in their heads) that it still reminds you that it's a Disney movie, but the lyrics are so deep and meaningful and clever and touching. The way Dolores smugly hid the fact that she can actually hear Bruno thru the walls in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and then asked Mirabel "Do you understand?" was brilliant.
Also, "Dos Origuitas" is 2021's version of "Remember Me" from Coco. It has the same sad but also beautiful vibe.
Bonus:
Pepa and Felix being the best married couple ever
Tumblr media
I- They are seriously the cutest. Pepa is so interesting and weird, and Felix is such an awesome, supportive husband that it's practically impossible to not love them. Felix is the type of a guy that would cause an unexpected rain all over the Encanto just and only because he tickled Pepa so hard that she started crying (brb gonna go write a fanfic like this). They are awesome partners, and even more amazing parents.
If you say that you don't simp (or at least love them) for Dolores or Camilo (or in my case both), you are lying. I don't make the rules.
--
All in all, Encanto is an awesome movie, in all aspects. I can just tell that one day, in like 30 years, kids are gonna be watching and loving this movie like we love "Beauty And The Beast" today. This one is gonna be one of the classics.

Regarding Toshinori calling Dabi "insane", I just want to add that I loved Horikoshi adding that detail. Why?
Because the hero system hasn't change!
Yes, we got some emotional moments after Ochako's speech, we got Stain talking to Toshinori, we got the consequences of the War, but the problem runs deep.
Toga is "crazy".
Dabi is "insane".
Tomura is "a child".
They're the representation of how society would break you and then made everyone go against you because "you're not will in the head". They're the main three villains.
Older pro-heroes have been more exposed to the manipulations of the hero society. They are used to looking the other side with situations like the Endeavor one. And it's not coincidence that Horikoshi showed us again how much All Might's existence has hurt Tomura, just when the narrative of the villains being crazy is brought back.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Toshinori doesn't know about Deku's speech to the Vestiges. I think he says that he felt Deku's resolution, but because he isn't dead yet, he couldn't be there with the vestiges, just generally feel it. In that case, Toshinori could not know what Deku is planning to do.
I want to remind everyone that we got a whole panel of Deku telling All Might he was as powerful at him in his best days. And that panel ended up with Deku going away and leaving All Might behind.
Deku is already as great as All Might. Now he's currently surpassing him by doing something All Might couldn't do: saving Tenko Shimura.
What does it matter when we talk about Dabi? Because the narrative told us the UA kids are becoming the greatest heroes. They all are going to push pass the old generations and they what they are incapable of doing.
Ochako stole the megaphone (the voice) from Present Mic to declare her intentions. Shouto saved Endeavor from dying in the War arc because Endeavor froze while facing Touya. Tokoyami had to rescue Hawks from Dabi, Momo completed the operation Midnight was leading against Gigantomachia, Deku was the one who protected everyone by facing AFO.
These kids are already more.
So while the oldest generation is still focused on eradicating the villains but not the problem (see Aizawa saying it's time for revenge andfor example), the UA kids now that if they don't fix the problem, nothing will change. There'll be another Dabi, just like Shouto almost turned to one. There'll be another Toga, another Tomura, another Spinner, another Kurogiri.
The revelation of the UA traitor came with the idea that pro-heroes are still not seeing villains as victims. So what Horikoshi did was putting a villain right among the UA kids. And what know? Is she crazy too? They lived with her all this time. They laughed with her, she's their friend, their student. Are they going to push her aside just like society pushed aside all the other villains? Are they going to try and kill her?
And that goes deeper. Didn't they help Iida when he went after Stain? Didn't they help Bakugou? Didn't they went for Midoriya went he left UA? And didn't Deku prevent Shouto becoming something like Endeavor?
We're back on Toga's question: why should the heroes decide who should be saved and who shouldn't? How do they do that?
Why Endeavor deserves to live but not Touya? Why Dabi is the "insane" one and not Endeavor, who abused his family for 25 years?
And because so much has happened, now the kids don't have the pressure to be like their teachers or past idols. Now they can identify when their mentors are wrong, now they can make their own decisions, their own futures. This goes back to Deku refusing to believe he couldn't be a hero because he didn't have a quirk. This goes back to the kids choosing to rescue Bakugou while not trusting the pro-heroes (and ultimately helping All Might win the fight by taking Bakugou out of there). This goes back to the kids defeating Stain and changing the future Nighteye had seen, to them refusing to stay back, to their desire to be heroes not matter what others say.
If the old pro-heroes think Toga, Tomura and Dabi are insane, why can the kids decide on their own if they agree with them or not?
This is all connected because it's the building of the final arc. Let's not forget it.

Vi is an extremely touch-starved person. I think anyone who watches the show and pays attention to her body language-- especially in Episode 8 can infer this. Alot of people contribute this to her time in jail, (Which is obviously a very good reason.) but I would also like to point out the fact that Vi was the oldest child. Not only older than Powder, but the oldest teen in the friend group, the one that was expected to take care of everyone and henceforth, didn’t receive  much comfort when she was angry or upset. Many people don’t seem to realize how isolating being the oldest can be, especially when your siblings are in different age ranges (teen and child like we see with Vi and Powder.)
You’re not only expected to take care of yourself and learn to become dependent in many ways, such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, self-care. But you’re also expected to be able to help teach your sibling and even take care of them at times. And as a result, many oldest children (My experience, as well as some of my friends, if you have a good relationship with your parents, great.) become distant with their parents. It’s apparent that like many real-life teens that go through this, Vi doesn’t know how to let people take care of her. Rewind to when Sevika stabbed her, what would anyone else do in this situation? Probably not attempting parkour, but whether it was proving to Caitlyn she could do it, or proving to herself she was independent, it’s very apparent that she’s convinced herself she doesn’t need those basic things. Help. Touch. Friendship.
I went a little off topic... My point is, Vi is an extremely good representation of the oldest sibling, and the effects it has not only on us, but how the harm of our own trauma effects others.
