You knew full well going into this that Lilia … wasn’t the best person to leave around food. Well, you didn’t know to the full extent how ‘bad’, ‘revolting’, and ‘utterly cursed’ he was according to his dormmates (and adoptive family? Still trying to wrap your head around that one, to be honest). 

Yet, as you were both adding ingredients to the batch of cookies you were making, he had done nothing to tamper with the recipe or mess up by accident. Perhaps Silver, Sebek and Malleus were just overexaggerating it? Lilia has been completely fine, a great helper even! 

“So,” you cleared your throat, breaking the quiet (which was both comfortable yet awkward). “Why did you want to bake cookies with me? Not that I mind, just curious is all.”

Lilia looked up from the wet and dry ingredients he was combining and offered you a cheeky smile with a wink. “Hmm, do I need a reason to do so,” he breathed with a silent chuckle, sneaking some of the raw dough into his mouth.

You tutted, taking the bowl away from him. “I don’t need you getting sick from eating that now–”

But your attempt at lecturing was silenced by a small puff of flour being slapped gently on your cheek; a white handprint now on it. “RUDE!”

Lilia was having a good old laugh, from either getting flour on you, the shocked expression on your face, or a combination of the two (knowing him, it was bound to be the last one). He was actually getting pink in the face because of it; was he even taking breaks from laughing to breathe???

“Ah, lighten up! Plus,” he paused and covered your hand in flour and gently slapped it on his cheek, “there, we match now.” 

His magenta eyes were twinkling with mischief and you found yourself gently shaking your head and chuckling. Sighing, you picked up some flour with your hands and made it look like you were just going to cover the countertop with it, but you swerved, and slapped it into Lilia’s hair.

Lilia coughed, and rubbed at his eyes, trying to get the flour out of his eyes, but once he opened them again, you were gone. So we’re playing games now? But he just wheezed in delight and gave chase, a cup full of flour on hand so he could repay the favour. After all, since you both had matching handprints on your cheeks, you deserved to be bestowed some flour on your head.

“And here you were saying it was rude of me for that first move,” he called out into the dorm. They couldn’t have gotten far now.

He heard the curtains ruffle, and he floated over, not making a sound.

Peaking oh so carefully behind the curtains, he spotted you, silently giggling to yourself. And that’s when he made his move.

“Found you!~” And he sprinkled the flour over your head; much more gently than you did to him.

You groaned, knowing it would take a bit to get the flour out from everything… but the way Lilia floated overhead made it look like he was sprinkling snow… was he always this pretty? Even with him covered in flour, you still felt your heart flutter.

You mentally slapped your cheeks though, and got yourself up. 

“Guess you did… but that was fun,” you chuckled, dusting yourself off to the best of your ability.

The moment though was ruined by your smoke alarm going off; it was a wonder that those even worked, but hey, at least they worked.

Rushing to the kitchen, you opened up the oven to have a mass of black smoke smelling of burnt food of some sort enveloping the both of you.

“What happened?!” You coughed out, trying to open up the windows and doors to let out the smoke.

Lilia grimaced, “Ah… perhaps I set the oven too high.”

Hmm bi, queer, trans, nonbinary, butch. It started ironically but I've become very attached to girlboy and similar mashups. Under the NB umbrella I vibe with genderqueer, genderfluid.

10. Something that gives you gender euphoria (whether you’re cis or trans)

Oooh man, a bunch of things do. Getting to dress and present how I want. Any time I get to drastically change something about my appearance. Strangers being unsure of my gender--which used to be very dysphoric for me. People shaking up what pronouns they use. It started as a joke but I really came to like the internet's use of mishmashed words like "girlboy" or the sudden male implication of "babygirl"--language that really messes with gender and gender roles. And oh what a lovely source of euphoria it is to connect with people about gender. Friends, people in queer scenes, through books, my lovely girlfriend. I am very fortunate to have a lot of spaces where I can Be and where I am Seen.

15. How has your identity changed over time?

I first realized I was bi at 16. Realized I wasn't cis at 19. And realized I was nonbinary at 25. My sexual identity has been pretty consistent, which has been "whatever." Gender has been a bit more complicated. At different times of my life my expression could fit under a "transmasc" and "transfemme" umbrella. I'm not sure either term fits me per se, or maybe both? I feel like the implication of "genderfluid" covers this oscillation. I've gotten more comfortable with ambiguity and not knowing exact language for it, something I wouldn't have imagined for myself almost a decade ago.

18. How old were you when you got to attend your first Pride? Who did you go with?

My first Pride was in 2016. I had wanted to go for several years before it, but I always went back to my hometown for summers in college and couldn't get people to travel with. I went with my two best friends from high school, who had been 2 of 3 out queer people in our high school. I was not the third.

34. What are you needing most right now (what would make your life easier or more fulfilling in regards to existing as queer)?

For people (myself included) to stop being a dick about conflicting or confusing labels

For more people in the trans scene in the US to develop a more militant style of resistance right now. We need more "queers bash back" sort of energy. And if that's not someone's style right now, at minimum not intra-community pushback to it. Really tired of watching trans people take a more aggressive stance against genocide only to get policed by other queer and trans folks.

21. What message would you give to your younger self?

Oh man. So much at so many points. I guess in the most general sense....that you'll figure it out. It's okay to change your mind and try things out and not get soooo stressed out about the exact words to use. Labels are not finite resources you are stealing if it turns out not to fit. That at 18 you'll finally get to finally have lifechanging autonomy and that it's okay that that's actually terrifying too.

The worst period of my life was when I was finally on my own but didn't know where to go from there and didn't think I'd ever see what I wanted. But oh, once I made it through that period and got to take control, it got soooooo much better. And it keeps getting better. So much will change in your life in ten years, and ten years of getting to make choices for yourself and live your own life? That's a lot of change and exploration and I've not reached the end of figuring things out. And for the first time the not knowing is actually exciting and not so daunting.

No bc the more I think of it the more I’m just. floored at Tory of all people being the mirror of Johnny in her relationship with Kreese whereas Sam is the mirror of Daniel in her relationship with Karate I guess? But then Sam is also Johnny with her privilege and Tory is Daniel in having to be the new kid and. I’m sorry I love KC but they dropped the ball on Miguel being the main character, or even Miguel and Robby being the new deuteragonists. And maybe that’s a bad thing, that the show kinda lost who it’s supposed to focus on. I love Miguel and Robby, but I am more compelled with Sam and Tory idk. Their relationship is Lawrusso but different and similar and lovely and.

Ahhh tysm and don’t apologize!!! Bc literally you’re so right, like. The focus on Miguel and Robby really stops making as much sense after season 1. Bc in season 1 you have the obvious parallels between Miguel and Daniel and Johnny and Miyagi (and to some extent Robby and Daniel and then Daniel and Miyagi), but after that, the story has grown and progressed in ways that doesn’t really make sense for having Robby and Miguel be The Rivals of the series.

They try to draw certain parallels like the fight at the party in 1x09, which is supposed to remind us of Johnny and Daniel meeting on the beach, but it doesn’t really work bc Robby already knows who Miguel is, lmao, and already has a reason to dislike him. Any attempts to make them seem more like Daniel and Johnny after that just sort of inevitably crumble bc their rivalry/antagonism is so clearly different than what Daniel and Johnny had going on.

Meanwhile Tory and Sam are like. So fucking representative of things coming full circle, of yin and yang, of just!!! Everything!!!

But like. Giving their story the full focus it should have would mean the show would have to admit that they as girls are like. Full people and may even have more interesting inner lives than some of the boys, which; can’t have that, right. (Also, god forbid they have to admit that Sam is actually the strongest fighter of the teenagers, practically and ideologically; bc if she’s the strongest fighter and Tory is about-or-almost on par with her, what does that mean for the guys).

And like, the tension that exists there surrounding female action heroes is not new. It’s been a thing since female action heroes became popular. (I’m literally reading about this rn in Spectacular Bodies: Gender, Genre and the Action Cinema by Yvonne Tasker, actually). There’s a push and pull between wanting to create a female hero for your show/movie bc of what they represent (and the female audience they bring with them) but then there’s a simultaneous inability to fully engage with them, to treat them with the same focus or depth or respect the male heroes get. There’s a tension, an anxiety. They can never just Be. (And it’s an anxiety that is like. Notably still invested in hetero-gender-normative-male supremacy and is basically gnawing on its own arm trying to have its cake and eat it too).

(I should say race is also quite a factor and that characters of color end up getting a similar treatment, which is a problem CK has pretty damn often, but ofc that is its whole own can of worms)

Anyway. Ur totally right to feel that way (much as I love Robby and Miguel). Honestly at times they remind me more of Daniel and Chozen than Daniel and Johnny. And meanwhile Sam and Tory are not only better parallels, but like; their rivalry, their story, is so much more unhinged and intense and overwhelming and feral and just fucking rabid. Miguel vs Robby peaked with the school fight, but bc of the consequences of said fight, their rivalry just kind of. Becomes more cold-and-bitter than the balls to the wall insane shit Sam and Tory have going on, which ofc also means Sam and Tory completely steal the show (especially once Hawk and Demetri have made up).

Overall I think they absolutely could have still focused on Robby and Miguel heavily as characters without inadvertently missing how narratively important Sam and Tory’s Whole Thing is. And that in and of itself is a good reminder that just bc the show chooses to focus on something or someone doesn’t mean they’re getting handled well (oh, Johnny, my man). But yeah. Samtory are just so on their own level tbh

Lol there is no audience for this, this is just for me. However, is this the first Frances x reader fic on Tumblr?

You walk out of your house, blindly picking a jacket from the series of hooks hanging by the door. Problem is, you should've checked because you ended up with your Y/H (ur Hogwarts house :) ) jacket from years ago.

You still wore it--in the comfort of your own home, of course. Your friends would probably judge you for it.

And of course out of every day you could have possibly made this mistake, it had to be the day you were hanging out with your crush, Frances, alone for the first time.

Awesome.

You see her smiling up at you as you start waking down the sidewalk. Too late to turn back now. Reluctantly, you slipped the jacket on, immediately feeling your face flush with embarrassment.

"Hello!" She greets you with a smile.

"Hi," you awkwardly wheeze out with an equally large smile.

"Um, I really like your jacket!" Frances gently touches the little Y/H logo on the sleeve making electric shocks shoot up your arm.

"Oh, really?" You are taken by surprise on so many fronts.

"Yeah, it's really cool of you to wear that."

What does that mean? It's really cool of me?

"Um, thanks," you nervously laugh.

"You want to go to the ice cream shop right up there?" She points to some arbitrary tree in the distance.

"Sure!" You thought you sounded too enthusiastic and make a mental note to tone it down.

A strained silence takes the place of conversation for the rest of the trek to the store. When you get there, you note that Frances gets strawberry ice cream (yuck, who does that?). You order your usual and sit down at a little table for two.

Your first time sitting at a table for two for a date.

This is really happening.

This is crazy.

"Strawberry?" You break the silence.

"What? It's good!" Frances tries and fails to look mildly offended.

"It's awful is what it is." You take a pointed bite of your obviously much better ice cream.

"Let me try your garbage." She takes the cone out of your hand, not that you resist, but you were not prepared at all for that. "Hm, okay. Not bad, I guess. It's not strawberry, of course, but it's not horrible."

She hands you the cone back with a little bite taken out the side. It makes you blush again. "You're insane. This is a masterpiece in food form."

"Yeah okay, whatever you believe then." Frances leans down to take a bite of ice cream and her eyes stay locked on yours. You see them shimmer with mischief and your heart does a little flip.

She's really very pretty, you must admit. You were caught off-guard when she asked you out but you're immensely glad of your automatic 'yes' response.

"You have a battle scar," she giggles.

"Hm?" You freeze and look down at yourself. You don't see anything amiss.

"You have some ice cream on your nose." She smiles and reaches her hand out. With the gentle tip of her finger, she spreads the ice cream into what feels suspiciously like a smiley face.

"Hey!" You pretend to be upset, but you don't bat away her hand. "I thought you were getting it off."

"Nope, this looks much better. Don't get any on your awesome jacket, I might want to steal it later."

Your heart leaps. "You really like it that much?" It's a joke, but the vulnerability lies clear in your voice.

"Yeah, obviously. I have a ton of really cool jackets and stuff like that. I didn't know you were into that or I would've worn something cool, too."

You feel a little smile creep onto your face. Maybe you have more in common with her than you know.

"You know what I think?" You suddenly break the little pause once again.

"Hm?" She looks up at you with those shinning eyes again.

"We should do this again. Same time next week?" You hold your breath.

She nods. "Yeah, sounds awesome."

You exhale with a big smile.

"You're staring." Wanda points out, idly watching the older twin stare at the person who clouded his thoughts, not that Wanda needed to read his mind to know that.

"Don't you have something better to do?" Pietro scoffed, unwillingly looking away to glance at his sister. She chuckled, turning away from her brother to check on the pot on the stove, before continuing to chop the vegetables scattered on the chopping board.

"Don't you?" She simply asked, humming to the song playing out loud from her phone, Pietro's eyes were drawn back to you.

You were explaining the plot of a movie to Bucky who stared at the screen in pure confusion. "I don't get it? He killed her but he loved her?" Bucky asked you, in response you shook your head exasperated. "You saw her give birth right after, how could she be dead if she was naming her kids Buck?" You asked, glancing up when you heard the footsteps of someone approaching you.

"You're not replacing me with this old man, right?" Pietro teased, moving to sit next to you, reclining back on the couch, arm around your waist. You rolled your eyes at what he said, automatically leaning into him as the three of you continued to watch the movie playing on the big screen in front of you. The two of you barely noticed when Bucky decided to leave, too caught up with one another to bother caring about what's going on in your surroundings. You pushed him away from you when he tried to steal the m&ms you were currently snacking on only for him to pour most of the packet into his mouth.

"You disgust me Maximoff." You scoffed, biting back the smile forcing its way up. "And you love it Prinţesă." Pietro retorts, his eyes meeting yours. You opened your mouth to say something but nothing could come to mind, it was common for Pietro to randomly call you nicknames but that doesn't mean you were used to it, especially when he'd use pet-names.

Your friendship with Pietro came as a surprise to the rest of the Avengers years ago due to the differences in your personality but if you asked any of them what they thought about your friendship now they'd complain about how clueless the two of you are to the other person's feelings.

Somehow in the chaos that the two of you called your 'friendship', the line between platonic feelings and romantic feelings blurred. Pietro isn't the type of guy to steer away from romance but this situation was entirely different to anything he experienced. He cant just tell his closest friend that he loved you, he couldn't tell you how when he holds you in his arms it pains him to let go. How could he tell you that? After everything that happened to him in the past, the wall he built around his emotions to protect himself began to crumble and you were the cause of it. Pietro always struggled to talk about his feelings, his past. He felt the urge to protect himself and his twin from anything that could hurt them, he didn't want to make the same mistake again.

The unintentional movie night led to the two of you continuing to hanging out in Pietro's room hours later. It was your nightly ritual to watch an episode or two of a show that Pietro usually wouldn't want to watch before the two of you go to bed. Pietro was in the far end of his room, fumbling with something in the palm of his hand while you sat comfortably in the middle of his bed, head resting on one of his pillows as you set up the show on the laptop.

"For someone as quick as you, you sure are taking your sweet time doing whatever it is you're doing."

Pietro glanced back at you in surprise, almost like he forgot what he was supposed to be doing, too busy staring at the dainty chain tangled in the palm of his hands, with a small engagement ring at the end, in place of a pendant capturing all of Pietro's attention. It was fit for a petite woman. The silver was slightly scratched. Two slightly larger silver stones surrounded a slightly larger stone, although quite dull at first glance the engraving on the inside showed was still noticeable.

"I'm in no rush, dragoste mea." He chuckles, shoving the necklace into his pocket before moving to take his shirt off to put on a different one while continuing to speak. Your eyes followed his movements, subtly admiring his body as his muscles unintentionally flexed which resulted in you feeling your cheeks heat up, quickly looking away to not get caught checking out one of your best friends.

"You know I still don't know how I feel about Vision hanging around my sister." Pietro confesses, his overprotectiveness towards his younger sister evident as he continues to replay what occurred during dinner hours ago, Wanda confessing she wouldn't mind moving to a rural neighbourhood with Vision instead of staying at the Avengers Headquarters.

"People can't control who they fall in love with Pietro." You sighed tiredly not realising the irony behind your words, it wasn't the first time Pietro mentioned his hesitation towards the Android.

"People can't, robots can." He scoffed, walking to the dresser to put away his shirt, now wearing a pale blue shirt instead of the charcoal grey T-shirt he was previously wearing.

He moved to the bed, sitting beside you before shifting around to get comfortable. Your hand reaches out to the laptop to begin the episode only for Pietro's hand to place his above yours, stopping you.

"Since we're on this subject..." he paused to pull the necklace from his pockets before holding the necklace out towards you, letting the ring dangle from the chain between the two of you, twisting and turning because of the sudden movements.

You glanced at Pietro in confusion, eyebrows furrowed. He then pulls the hand that was covered by his own and turning it so your palm faced upwards, dropping the necklace in your hand. You held the necklace between your fingers, admiring the gems on the ring before noticing the engraving etched on the inside of the engagement band.

"I+O?" You read out the engraving in confusion, eyes meeting Pietro's soft gaze. He paused for a bit, struggling to put together a sentence that wouldn't cause the wall he created to completely collapse.

"Irina and Oleg, my parents. This was my mother's engagement ring. It was apart of the few belongings they've managed to find after what happened." He gently takes the necklace from you, signalling you to turn away from him so he can put it around your neck. Gently pushing all your hair to the side you felt goosebumps rise wherever Pietro's fingers grazed on your skin, the familiar heat rising in your cheeks once again.

You were secretly relieved that he couldn't see your reaction, the unspoken tension between the two of you currently was unbearable. You looked down at the ring, twirling it around with ur fingers while Pietro continued to speak.

"We decided that Wanda should keep our father's ring since he barely acknowledged me as his son, let alone a person." Pietro chuckles dryly.

Pietro turns you to face him, palm resting on your left cheek. "It looks good on you Draga Mea." He compliments you, eyes glancing down to your lips ever so often. "Why did you decide to give it to me?" You whispered, struggling to find your own voice.

Pietro's mouth curved into a smile, his thumb gently stroking your face

"Can't you tell?" He asked.

"Hmmm i think I'm going to have to hear you say it." You teased, smiling up at him, arms sliding around his neck pulling him closer towards you. He rolled his eyes feigning annoyance before telling you what you wanted to hear.

The next morning Wanda lightly knocked on her brother's door, wondering why he wasn't at breakfast. Waiting a couple moments for a response Wanda slowly opened the door only to be met with with the two of you lying in bed in each other’s arms,  the laptop ended up at the edge of the bed as you completely forgot about it after the events of last night. Pietro had his arms tightly wrapped around your waist while your head rested on his chest, the two of you smiling contently.

"They're good for each-other." Wanda whispers to her partner who stood beside her.

"They are indeed."
