Hi hi! Do you have any fic recommendations for apprentice AUs that take place in the Young Justice world?

Hi there! I do indeed :)

The first is Die a Hero by @foreverwhelmed. This beast of a fic is absolutely phenomenal. Starts fairly light, with Slade saving Dick’s life and asking that in return, Dick simply works for him for a little while. The story gets progressively darker as Slade manipulates Dick into getting what he wants from him, and I’m not kidding when I say that with each new chapter that comes out I am on the edge of my seat, so excited to see what happens next. It’s 1st person POV, which I know a lot of people don’t like (and I’m not usually a fan of either), but the story more than makes up for it. Unfinished as of now, but with steady updates.

The second is No Fortunate Son by HarperRow. This story starts with Dick returning to the team and Bruce after the apprentice arc, and seeing the fallout that comes from it, as well as slowly discovering all of the things that Slade did to Dick while he had him under control. There’s some victim blaming (members of the team not truly understanding certain events, and thus misinterpretating them) and some extremely obsessive behavior on Slade’s part as he plots to get his apprentice back. Excellently angsty and handles PTSD very well. Warning for underage rape/non-con. Completed.

Now Persuasion by @aveaveria isn’t really an apprentice fic, but it’s a fantastic story that takes place in the YJ world where Dick and Slade make a deal that has Dick working for Slade in order to save his friend’s life. Honestly a brilliant fic, expertly mixing in the wider DC world (including Rose as Slade’s delightful young daughter, and introducing a version of the Outlaws at one point) that is fascinating and anxiety-producing in the best way, and the interactions between Dick and Slade (as well as reading these things from each of their perspectives) are always so captivating. Unfinished as of now, and in the process of revision.

Another not-really-apprentice fic, but I’d recommend Gravity by mizufallsfromkumo. In this series, Dick gets kidnapped and experimented on. Over the course of the series you find out more about what really happened to him, and part of that are some pretty great interactions between Dick and Slade. The focus of the series isn’t really on Slade, but he’s a large part of it, and honestly the series is so interesting. Sadly unfinished, so no real conclusion as of now, but one can hope!

Evening Gothamites! We conclude Women’s History Month and our session “The Women of DC Comics: A Retrospect” with the Batman Family character Harper Row! Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, Harper Row made her first appearance in Batman (Vol 2) 1 from November 2011, the beginning of The New 52 for the publication. Raised in an abusive home with her brother Cullen, Harper becomes inspired by the Batman when he saves her brother from being beaten up by a gang because he is gay. A young electrical engineer, Harper becomes initially a frustration for Batman and then an aid once Damian Wayne (Robin) dies in ‘Batman, Inc.’ Harper Row debuts her persona of Bluebird in Batman (Vol 1) 28 in April 2014 (visually created by Dustin Nguyen). Harper Row slowly became part of the Bat Family in Batman Eternal, officially suiting up as Bluebird in issue 41 (March 2015) in order to rescue Red Robin and Batgirl. Although for now she has hung up the Bluebird mantle to go to college and receive a degree in electrical engineering, Harper Row and all of the 31 women highlighted in this month’s session play amazing roles within the DC Universe. DC's Young Justice: Outsiders season 3 review: All I can say is that this season should pitted the Outsiders with the Suicide Squad. Also, the Outsiders felt more of Teen Titans while Batman Inc. felt more the actual Outsiders team. The Outsiders had always been, from my knowledge, the Justice League covert team with Batman Inc. being Batman's personal covert ops. Anyways, I will start with the negatives. My main problem with the show was that it had too many episodes. It gave us the similar problem from season 1. I get that their plan was build the universe, but that was my problem. Too much world building provided extra episodes. They could have stayed with the 20 episode limit, but oh well. Another thing I did not like is how incredibly political it had become. With all of the false accusations, fake news, and political exploits, it showed that current events cannot be escaped from. Lastly, what I love about the old designs was that it felt close and in line of DC's previous designs for their other animated movies. On to the positives! I am loving the DC references! From Teen Titans Go reference with Doom Patrol all the way to Suicide Squad. Another thing I loved was the spotlight on Jefferson Pierce, also known as Black Lightning. It helps out with the other BL show. The costume design was also a thing I also love. I know I mentioned how I did not like how they changed the designs, but what I loved about the old designs, it is still there. Wonder Woman (from what I noticed) had a similar design to DCAU design, so that was a favorite of mine. Lastly, I am still in denial that Wally had past away. He will come back in season 4, I am calling it now! Adoro a este personaje así que os contaré un poco su historía -Al principio Harper Row era una adolescente que vivía en los suburbios de Gotham con su hermano pequeño Cullen, sus padres habían muerto después de haber estado en la cárcel. Con esta situación era difícil que se inclinase del lado heroico, incluso robó comida en una gala benéfica de los Wayne. Aunque todo esto cambió cuando Batman los salvo a ella y a su hermano de unos abusadores que los estaban golpeando por homosexuales, llegando incluso a cortarle el pelo a su hermano (por eso se afeitó media cabeza en honor a su hermano). Todos estos hechos hacen que busque a Batman para que la entrene, acogiendo así el nombre de BlueBird.
