Let's start off simple. Raiden is a strong, but a gentle man. He treats you like royalty, his touch is soft and affectionate. We're talking 'just because' flowers, random little dinner dates, the sidewalk rule, he's the whole package. He spends as much time as he can with you, and he makes every second count.

Raiden has a little habit of staring at you, but not in a creepy way. He'll look at you with this dreamy look on his face, clearly lost in thought. He's head over heels for you.

His kisses are soft, he'll tease you a little and kiss the corners of your mouth, your nose, your forehead, anywhere but your lips. And just before you can complain, he'll capture your lips in a warm, comforting kiss. And when he pulls back he's got the biggest, dorkiest smile on his face.

Raiden is also an excellent hugger, his hugs are like the firm, protective kind. Very strong, but like, in a weighted blanket way. The right amount of pressure, you know? And he'll sway a little when he does, sometimes he'll pick you up, too. He really loves long hugs.

He calls you 'my light' mainly, but '亲爱的' (dearest), and '亲亲' (dear one) are used as well. He also adores talking to you in his native language, even if you don't understand. (I apologize, I cannot write this further given I don't know much abt the Chinese dialects.)

As for dates, picnics are his favorites. But he loves bringing you to Madame Bo's, as well. ON THAT NOTE, he talks to Madam Bo about you SO MUCH. And the day you finally meet her (essentially like meeting the parents), she embarrasses the hell out of Raiden. She dotes on you, too.

You were down in the basement, lantern in hand illuminating the way. The power had gone out, and of course, the fuse box was in the basement of all places. Sevens forbid the person who built the cottage you were staying in actually put it in an easy-to-access spot. Nope! They had to put it in the creepy, old, basement. And since Jade was out getting groceries, that left you to fix it yourself. So, lantern in hand, you started fiddling with the fuse box, trying to find the one that had blown. At least you had some prior experience, what, living in Ramshackle and all; you had become well acquainted with getting stubborn fuses to work for you, even jokingly calling it your unique magic. 

“Come on, work for me baby,” you muttered, and all of the lights flickered to life once again. “Ha ha! Me? One! Fuse box? Zero!” You dusted yourself off and looked around the basement, now that you could see everything.

Apparently the people who rented this place out didn’t take out all of the old owners’ boxes, and they were just laying there collecting dust and cobwebs. There couldn’t be any harm in just taking a tiny peak, never know what you could find.

As you were gently looking through the boxes — hey, they’re probably old and you didn’t want to accidentally break anything — you heard the front door open and close. Jade was back which meant you had been digging for a bit. Sighing, you stretched, and made your way to the kitchen with its bright yellow cupboards. 

Jade hummed you a greeting and chuckled a bit at seeing the dust. “What did you get into while I was away, dear,” his voice was teasing, but he was genuinely curious.

“Welllll,” you drawled, “the power went out so I had a little fight with the fuse box, I won by the way, and discovered some old boxes down in the basement and was seeing if they held anything interesting.” A loud sneeze escaped from you, a result of all of the dust. “But all I found was a tonne of dust, way too many spiders for my liking, and,” you fished around in your pocket, “this key.”

Jade set the groceries down and came over to inspect it. “Well that’s rather interesting…” he murmured. “May I?”

You handed him the key, curious about what he seemed so interested in. Sure it was pretty, made from silver and inlaid with abalone and pearls, which were now weathered with time. There must have been a good reason why it peaked his interest.

Jade wandered into the living room, and started running his hand under the shelves of the large bookcase which was built in the wall. And then he stopped, a proud and large smile gracing his face. He placed the key into a divot in the bookcase, and it swung inwards, revealing stone steps leading down. “Looks like you just helped discover an old secret, my dear,” he chuckled, beckoning you to follow him down the stairs.

Slowly, you followed him, the light from the cottage helping to illuminate the way, as well as a pale blue glow from below. And then you stopped, having reached the bottom. In front of you was what looked like an underwater sea cave, with a shallow beach. And light gently filtered from a small hole at the top, causing the blue glow that you saw.

You looked over to Jade, hoping for an explanation, but you found him looking at you instead, expression soft.

“What did you mean by old secrets,” you whispered, not wanting for something louder to break the serene scene.

Jade took your hands in his and led you to the water, just deep enough where the water lapped against your calves. “The key you found, this place,” he briefly broke eye contact so he could observe the cavern before they travelled back to you. “It opens a secret meeting place, where land and sea can live together… it was forged by the love of a human and a merfolk.”

Just like us. 

Jade continued moving deeper until you were chest deep in the water, and he dived under, changing into his merform before coming back up. “And is only discovered by those curious enough to pursue it.”

Sure! I wasn't sure what form of Church you wanted (Alpha or Epsilon) so I did a general concept of Alpha! Church. If something is OOC, my bad, it's been a bit since I've seen him in the show.

Church is probably the most sane one of the Blood Gulch crew.

Both teams, too.

He's serious about his job and is baffled by the incompetence and insane events that happen around him.

Considering how he's an AI and the entirety of Blood Gulch is a fake scenario... can't entirely blame him.

Church's response to a lot of things is anger and frustration.

He tries not to know others emotionally, hates it when others can read him, and just doesn't seem to like people.

Or at the very least... hates the ones around him most of the time (Reds and Blues).

Despite being volatile, he is still a leader and a compassionate/caring person at times.

Church would come off cold towards his obsession at first.

As said before, he wouldn't want to be involved with anyone closely.

Especially if he's still having trouble with feelings towards Texas.

He seems dismissive with you, even if you're more rational than the rest.

Sometimes he feels he's babysitting Blue Team... sometimes even Red Team.

Seeing you react so rationally would surprise Church... but he respects it.

Church may like you because you seem to be... sane.

As his bond with you progresses, Church begins to be less cold towards you.

He expresses care towards you in private.

Around the others, Church still seems frustrated, annoyed, and cold.

But with you? Church feels he can have a genuine conversation with you without feeling angry.

It's... a nice change.

Church seems like the type of person to get jealous to the point of being petty.

In a way he feels the others don't entirely deserve to speak with you.

They're all dumb... so the fact you try to form a connection with them irritates Church.

He seems like the type of yandere to give the silent treatment, respond with sass/backhanded comments, or something similar.

He'd rather it just be you and him speaking with one another.

Caboose is an idiot, Tucker's a flirt, he doesn't even want to bring up Red Team...

He just wants you to focus on him and talk to him.

As petty as he is, he'll get over it since he can't seem to leave you alone.

You feel so genuine to him.

Something within him is drawn to you, like...

Love.

This has got to be love...!

At first even Church is in denial of it.

Yet even Caboose and Tucker know he's infatuated... his visor never leaves you.

Caboose has a childish view of Church's obsession, often mentioning it as a "crush".

Tucker often says to Church to go for you.

If Church doesn't... Tucker may ask you out himself.

When Tucker said such a thing... Church nearly lunged at him.

Church probably uses his sniper to watch you when you're not at base.

He tries really hard not to call it "stalking".

Tucker thinks otherwise, of course... but Church doesn't care.

Church is... awkward with expressing his newfound emotions.

All he really has to work with is memories of Texas.

As a result, I imagine he's awkward with making moves.

Things like flirting or affection aren't easy with him.

He often apologizes to you that he's so angry all the time.

Yet you can tell he holds some unknown amount of care towards you when he tries to be physically affectionate or just talk with you.

Church seems controlling at times due to his jealousy.

His jealousy makes him possessive, but he tries to hide it.

Church may try to be subtle with isolating you.

The others on Blue Team know how much Church is obsessed with you... as creepy as it is.

Yet Church never seems to listen to what they say... even when they try to show concern for you.

Church doesn't even want Red Team near you.

Often he's happy if it's just you and him in the base.

Towards others he isn't necessarily violent.

He'll threaten others to back off from you... but he probably won't kill over his obsession.

Church doesn't force you into anything when it comes to affection.

He waits patiently for you to reciprocate.

He just knows you will in the end.

It'll just take... time.

Church often tests the waters with you, small touches and things but nothing overly intimate (He's an AI/Robot... can he even...? Nevermind....).

If you push away, he backs off... if you don't...

Well, then he can continue this "relationship" with you....

Church feels his darling is the only one who doesn't annoy him... the only one who understands him... soon enough, the only one for him.

You're the only one who feels like an actual sane human being to him... which is ironic considering his true nature and intentions.

Eclipse Theories

(strap in this is gonna be LONG. I'm so hyperfixatied right now.)

Theory 1: Eclipse isn't a third AI, they are Sun and Moon combined into one AI.

Edit: Youtooz basically just confirmed this!

This theory has quite a lot of evidence that I will go through in this post, but I must get something out of the way first.

I've never watched The Sun and Moon Show, but to my knowledge, SAMS Eclipse IS a third AI separate from Sun and Moon. So I'm guessing that's where the misconception about Ruin Eclipse comes from, since that series is quite popular.

But there have been SOME fans (not all SAMS fans, but some. no hate to the nice fans or creators.) that are spreading around misinformation about Ruin so I'll just say this.

The Sun and Moon Show is fan-made. It is not canon to the actual FNAF storyline. Therefore, it shouldn't be brought up as evidence when discussing theories about canon DCA lore. It is also rude to complain to Steel Wool when their lore doesn't match up to a FAN-MADE story.

With that out of the way, onto the theory!

1. Eclipse's Name

defintion of eclipse: an obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of illumination.

An Eclipse is when the Sun goes infront of the Moon, obscuring it (or vice versa).

But in most media and mythology, an Eclipse is seen as a mixture of the Sun and Moon, due to the fact that our perspective from earth makes it look like the Sun and Moon merge when an eclipse happens. So by naming this character ECLIPSE, its pretty clear that Steel Wool is trying to tell us that they are a mixture of Sun and Moon.

IRL an Eclipse isn't a third indepedant celestial body, its a celestial phenomenon that's only possible when the Sun and the Moon are in alignment. So it makes sense that Eclipse isn't a third AI, but a fusion made from Sun and Moon.

Think about it, if they wanted Eclipse to just be a third AI separate from Sun and Moon, why on Earth would they name them ECLIPSE? There are plenty of other space-related names they could've gone with! (Star, Cosmo, Nova, a roman planet name, a greek god related to space name, a constellation name, etc.) It'd be silly to name them Eclipse if they weren't an Eclipse!

2. "Reboot! Reboot! We need to be whole."

Listen I don't know how else to put this, but I think this line pretty much confirms this theory. He doesn't tell us to get rid of Moon, he doesn't tell us to remove any sort of virus, he doesn't just say "Reboot us!" and leave it at that. Sun specifically tells us that rebooting him will make them 'whole' again. He even says 'WE'. As in, him AND Moon. And he confirms that being whole is a good thing because otherwise he wouldn't have asked us! He even says they 'NEED' it.

Its clear he means he wants to fuse with Moon again so they can be 'whole', cuz right now Sun is only half a person a therefore not whole.

I know Sun has a habit of speaking in riddles, but there are THOUSANDS of other ways he could've worded that if SteelWool intended Eclipse to be a third AI.

3. Personality

Okay now let's go full PYSCHO-ANALYSIS mode on them! May be a little hard since Eclipse only has one scene of screentime but I can make it work!

So, Moon's personality is very aggressive. He was 100% okay with killing Cassie and Gregory, was implied to dissemble staff bots and glamrock endos, and is very intimidating and creepy. (Plus, has succeeded in killing at least two kids if you count the books.)

Moon cares more about rules then he does people, specifically rules that give him an excuse to act violently. He's so determined to make kids sleep at naptime that he attempts to KILL them, without any thought of their life. Sun also cares about the rules, but he does it out of fear of someone getting hurt or getting in trouble. Moon uses the rule as an excuse to hurt people, and he seems to actually enjoy hurting people.

(Sorry for all the Moon slander. He is a silly billy I know but I'm trying to make a point here, it's necessary I promise. Moon IS a villain and some people in the fandom have a hard time understanding that.)

The only time we see Moon acting friendly is in merch and posters. But this was confirmed in the Security Breach Files to just be a cover up by Pizzaplex publicity department to make Moon seem less creepy. There was never a 'nice Moon' in canon, at least, not when he was Moon.

Edit: This note from the FNAF Cookbook also confirms this:

The one trait Moon DOES share with his fabricated merch personality, is calmness. Moon is aggressive and creepy, sure, but he's not loud or panicked like Sun is. He chases us very slowly and carefully instead of charging at us, he waves at us in the elevator and after knocking out Freddy, and his voicelines are menacing but in a quiet way, yknow? Idk how else to describe it.

He IS a lot louder and panicked in Ruin, but that's probably because of the bad state he's in and the fact he doesn't want the lights on. Hes angry, but not in the way Monty or Roxy are in the first game. SteelWool still makes it clear to point out this personality trait.

Now onto Sun!

Sun cares about people and isn't violent. It's clear he doesn't want to see people hurt. This is seen when he invites Gregory to arts and crafts, warns him about the lights, warns Cassie when it isn't safe and thanks her for her help.

But although Sun has good intentions, the situation he's in makes it hard for him to really be comforting to people. It's been reported on several occasions that kids are just as scared of Sun than they are Moon. This is probably due to his paranoia. He's constantly afriad of Moon coming out and hurting someone, and is desperate to keep the lights on. He's going...a small bit insane, but who can blame him! He's in a very stressful situation, and I feel very bad for him. Hes definitely TRYING to act the way Eclipse does but something is MISSING! Still, it is worth pointing out that the fandom tends to mischaractize him and take away some of his more eccentric traits. Traits that are essential to his personality and story.

He's also very energetic and loud. Overall, it seems he is missing the ability to CALM DOWN.

All this considered, do you see now why I think Eclipse's personality is a mixture of Sun and Moon. He is calm and cares about rules, but also cares about people. He was very comforting to Cassie without a hint of violence or anxiety. He even wished us a faz-errefic day!!

I don't think Sun and Moon are SUPPOSED to be apart, and that's why they act the way they do. In Eclipse, all their personality traits balance out. But when they are apart, there's nothing to balance it out. Moon is violent and only cares about rules, because SUN is the one that is friendly and cares about people. Sun is anxious and eccentric, because MOON is the one that is calm and collected.

Edit: This line from the FNAF Cookbook also implies this?? Specifically the phrasing of "everything moon isnt."

Thats why Sun specifically ASKED us to make them whole again, because he understood that they needed to be together to have a stable personality!

Sun has always been scared of Moon yeah, but he's only been scared of him in his unfused state due to their unstable personalities, so I think if Sun figured out that they needed to be rebooted for everything to be okay again, then that's what he would do. Saying that 'Sun is afraid of Moon and therefore wouldnt want to fuse with him' isn't good enough evidence to debunk this theory, since Moon is only dangerous due to the fact they are not Eclipse, so if they were Eclipse, then Sun would have no reason to fear Moon.

Moon isn't dead or anything, his personality has just be incorporated into Eclipse.

Not to mention that this is literally the plot of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the explanation of why Hyde is evil. DCA has been compared to this book twice, once in Tales of the Pizzaplex: Bobbiedots Conclusion, and again the FNAF Character Encyclopedia.

But, if Eclipse is obviously the safer and kinder option for a daycare attendant, why were they split apart into Sun and Moon in the first place?

Theory 2: When, How and Why was Eclipse split apart?

I'm not 100% confident in my theory about this yet, so I'll do this differently. Inside of saying my theory and THEN giving the evidence supporting it, I'll do it backwards. I'll lay out all the pieces of evidence first and make a theory after. This way, you'll understand where I'm coming from and it'll be easier for people to correct me if they find a better version of my theory.

Evidence:

Fazbear Entertainment must've tried to market them in their unfused state because there is merch of Sun and Moon around the Pizzaplex.

Eclipse must have or was going to work in the Daycare at some point, because they talk about kids coming in and cleaning up in their dialogue.

Eclipse was most likely the original DCA because rebooting them restores them to factory settings, aka how they were first made, aka Eclipse.

Fazbear Entertainment must've had a reason not to reboot them after they realised Moon went wrong.

Vanny/Vanessa must've had something to do with this. There is purple glitches in the Eclipse Arcade machine, a drawing of a bunny in the daycare and graffiti of Vanny outside the Daycare. (Plus Moon is present with Vanny in the HW2 ending)

They can't be effected by the same version of the Vanny Virus the Glamrocks are because that is implied to only take effect the night Gregory came to the Pizzaplex, and Moon has been evil a lot longer than that. Plus that Vanny Virus didn't split them in two, it's only changed their pre-existing personality and made them obey Vanny.

Okay! To start off this story, Eclipse was the original daycare attendant. The way we see them in Ruin is just Ruined Sun and Moon, so I'm guessing they used to look like Arcade Eclipse. (Yeah I know they look creepy but let's be honest they all do.) Arcade Eclipse looks a lot more like an actual ECLIPSE and has the lore implications I mentioned.

Eclipse worked at the daycare and the kids weren't afriad of them because their personality was friendly and caring, just like the way we see them in their one scene.

(Or if you follow the book narrative. They worked in the theater and acted the PART of Sun and Moon, but weren't the real deal since obviously you couldn't have a real murder robot on stage. Offstage they were just Eclipse. That's why they already had the transformation mechanic, plus merch. When they were moved to the daycare, they could have met Cassie when it opened, or before it opened, since she was been established to get early access to stuff like the Foxy Logride. Since its implied Cassie went to the daycare before and talks about it positively. Which wouldnt make sense if she met Sun and Moon. But I don't know if the books are canon or not.)

Its revealed in SB that Vanessa got the job as security with no experience and with a recommendation. She's also the ONLY security guard. From this we can infer that she is somehow able to pull strings inside Fazbear Entertainment to get things going with Vanny's evil plan.

With this information, I think it was HER that convinced Fazbear Entertainment to re-theme the Daycare to Sun and Moon. They might have wanted to use Eclipse (in his Moon form) as a Naptime AND Security Bot. The switch to turn off the lights is in the Daycare SECURITY office, Moon patrols the Pizzaplex at the end of each hour like a security guard, and Vanessa never seems to question it during her patrols.

Vanny specifically split them so that Moon was evil. I think she either did it manually by interfering with his circuit board, or digitally with a virus. Either way, this seems to be sort of a Beta Test for the virus Vanny would make later. We see Moon help Vanny in the HW2 ending, he knocks out Freddy and drags him to parts and service where Vanessa is waiting, and considering the others associations I mentioned before, I think Vanny made Moon as a little evil minion for herself.

And when Fazbear Entertainment realises what happened, Vanessa convinced them to not go through the trouble of re-theming the Daycare again so they just added generators and told Sun to keep the lights on.

(Thats the part of the theory I'm most unsure about. It does make more sense with the book's narrative, but there is still a few holes. But Fazbear Entertainment is a very shady company, there could be a multitude of reasons why the didn't fix Sun and Moon. It could also be possible that a reboot could only work once Sun and Moon were already broken, for reasons I'll mention later. So Fazbear rebooted them, it did nothing cuz they weren't in their ruined form, and then they gave up. Or maybe it did work and Vanny just lobotomized them again straight after who knows.)

The problem was that Sun still remembered being Eclipse. Either Moon didn't remember because their memories were split between them, or he just didn't care.

The drawing on the bottom seems to be of Eclipse, with a coloured-in glowing eye just like how Eclipse's eye glows, and the same smile on both sides of their face. The one on the top has Moon's hat and different facial expressions for both of sides of their face, Moon looks angry and Sun looks sad.

The visual symbolism here is pretty obvious, Sun remembers, if vaguely, them happy and stable as Eclipse in the first drawing. And then unhappy and fighting in the present in the second drawing.

This also explains why the Eclipse Arcade Machine is in Sun's room, he probably stole it due to the memories assiocated with it. Plus, in the AR version of Sun's room in Ruin, there's an image of Arcade Eclipse on the ceiling.

Thats why Sun told us to reboot him, because he knew they'd go back to being Eclipse.

So overall I think Eclipse is a happy ending for both Sun and Moon, and completes their mini character arc! That said, the amount of screentime they got was CRIMINAL and I hope we see more of them at some point.

(Edit: Updating this with more evidence!)

4. Design

In scenes where Moon is in control of their body, his left eye glows red and the right one is black.

In scenes where Sun is in control of their body, his right eye glows yellow and his left one is black.

The eyes are clearly meant to represent which personality is in control.

When Eclipse is in control, their right eye glows yellow AND their left eye glows red. This represents that both Sun and Moon are in control of their body.

If Eclipse was a new person, then their eyes would glow a completely new colour to represent them being in control. Or they wouldn't glow at all, to represent neither Sun nor Moon being in control.

Eyes are the window to the soul, and eye colours are known to have a lot of significance in the FNAF lore, like with Circus Baby!

In Ruin, Sun and Moon's arms don't glow at all. They barely have any colour because they are so broken and damaged.

But Eclipse's right arm glows yellow (Sun's signature colour) and their left arms glows blue (Moon's signature colour). I also think this represents both Sun and Moon being in control.

If Eclipse was a new character, then their arms would glow a completely new colour, or not glow at all.

This feels almost MORE intentional than the eyes, because someone had to 3D model an entirely new glow effect for ONE scene.

If that isn't visual storytelling, I dunno what is.

Edit: I also noticed that in the cutscene when you reboot them, there is a moment where they seem to be shaking and struggling, before they stop and start talking as Eclipse.

Its kind of hard to see since Sun's pupil is very bright but in this scene, both of their eyes are glowing, but they are looking around in different directions. This gives the impression of the eyes being mismatched and not yet working in unison, as eyes normally do.

Then they go quiet, their head looks down for a second, springs back up, and we have Eclipse! Eclipse's eyes are both glowing and facing the same direction, and continue to work in unison even as they move around during the rest of the cutscene.

The fact that the animators took the time to add both of their eyes glowing as they were struggling, instead of just waiting for when their head leaned down (and their face went out of the camera shot) to change their eyes, means this was important.

I kind of see this as Sun and Moon's personality "recalibrating" with eachother as they rebooted. As in, it took awhile for their code to get used to the fact that they were now both controlling their body now. Their body convulsing in this moment as they became un-paralysed also suggests this. Plus you can see their arms start glowing.

Sort of like when you reboot a computer and it takes awhile for it took clear out all the bad data and start up again.

Edit: But! When I watched their cutscenes in slow motion, I notice that Eclipse still moves a bit out of sync even while they are talking and fully rebooted. Not the same way they did when they were split up, but enough to give the impression that this body is controlled by two people. And that they aren't completely used to it yet.

You could make the argument that I am overanalyzing these animations, but as an animator myself, I know how long it takes to complete an animation and these details being intentional is a lot more probable then you might think.

After Eclipse says "Happy Birthday" he brings both his hands up to his chest in a friendly pose. But, if you slow the clip down, you see that Sun's arm clenches its fist awhile before Moon's arm does, while his arm is still off to the side and not at his chest. It's only after awhile do they actually hold hands, with Moon's arm grabbing onto Sun's. This gives the impression of them being slightly out of sync, but still trying their best to work together.

This may just be because Sun's pupil is harder to see, but I also think their eyes look very vaguely out of sync in some parts if you slow it down.

And Eclipse even does Moon's signature wave with their Moon hand when they say goodbye to you. Showing that some of their characteristics still carried over after being merged together.

Also-also, the one peice of evidence that is flimsy in my theory is Sun's 'thank you' at the end of this sequence. Some people interpert this to mean that Sun is still conscious within Eclipse so therefore he has to be a third AI.

I think the fact that it takes a moment for Eclipses system to fully reboot could also explain this moment, but not disprove my theory.

The whole Eclipse talking scene takes up around 20 seconds. It's not crazy to believe that some of Sun's code may not be calibrated yet. Plus, it's implied that Eclipses losses some if not all of his memories when he reboots, so this could be what's left of Sun's individual code thanking Cassie for helping them, since they would forget to do so when they are fully rebooted. This is backed up by what I said about Eclipse still moving a little out of sync.

Or its meant in a more symbolic way. Since we don't SEE them say this, it gives it a ghost-like vibe. Like a final send-off for Sun's character, as we know it. Confirming that they are finally OK.

Or or Eclipse is able to subconsciously slightly split themselves apart again to allow their Sun half to talk to Cassie. (or maybe they can just use Sun's voice if they want to.) Reminder that partial eclipse's exist! That's something to think about!

Either way, I don't think this scene necessarily deconfirms my theory on Eclipse. But it is very interesting.

5. Writing

Ok so this section will get into more meta stuff like the rules of storytelling and the future fnaf games. If you think that stuff is too subjective to be seen as evidence, then I see your point, but I want to add it anyway since its an element of theorising that is often overlooked.

(Feel free to just skip this part tho if you don't like it, since this theory already has decent enough evidence without it.)

So let's be honest, I think that Ruin was the end of DCA's story. Sure they had cameos in help wanted 2 but that all took place before Ruin and therefore didn't feature Eclipse. We have to remember that DCA is a side character, so even if they do get more cameos in later installments, I doubt it would be anything substantial. The writers dont have much reason to place all the spotlight on him. And from how little we see characters from older fnaf characters in modern games, I don't think the SB characters will be any different, unfortunately.

And from how it's treated narratively, I really think that them getting rebooted is supposed to be the end of DCA's character arc. And a happy one, at that.

And, if we assume this is true, then Eclipse being a third character makes absolutely ZERO sense. The entire storyline falls apart.

And, like I said before, they way people view DCA is often influenced by fanon AUs, headcanons, etc.

And in fanon, this isn't a problem! It doesn't matter that this is the end of DCAs story, because they could just write more fan story! They could explain everything about this new character, Eclipse, how Sun and Moon feel about him, what happens after that and after that. And that's fine, I'm not trying to be the fun police and say you can't do that.

But when you make the jump from "fanfiction" to "legitimate theory I think is canon" you need to keep in mind that SteelWool has...actual professional writers writing their story. So therefore you need to play by their rules if you want your theory to be solid. And the rules say that they don't have much time to develop DCA's story after this.

So, let's see how Eclipse being a third character wouldn't make sense for a proffesional writer to do, in the context that this is the last we will see of DCA, for the most part.

First of all

WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY??? We've been following Sun and Moon this whole time and now you are just gonna drop this random third twink on us?? And then end the character arc and leave this new guy with exactly one scene of screentime??

I mean, he had a little build-up but not enough for him to stand on his own two feet as a full character! Where's he been all this time?? What's his job?? What do Sun and Moon think of him?? Why does rebooting them to factory settings trigger him to take control for some reason??

Eclipse being a combination of Sun and Moon fixes this problem. Because we already know who he is! Technically any Sun and Moon screentime we had at this point counts as Eclipse screentime, because we can guess how Eclipse would act by combining the two. And I think his lore involves just a little less 'making stuff up'.

Second of all,

What the hell happened to Sun and Moon?

No but seriously. Are they dead? Because that's the only explanation people are giving me!

People say stuff like "oh they were finally put to rest 😔" NO??

This whole narrative was about Sun and Moon fighting for control over their body, and how much pain that caused them. How is that suddenly a good thing when some other THIRD GUY takes control of their body instead? Don't they just get send to whatever subconscious purgatory they are in when they aren't in control? Sun is still paranoid mess, Moon still wants to murder people, and they both still hate eachother. Nothing has REALLY changed.

How is that a happy ending? Why on earth would Sun THANK us for that??

Again, my theory clears that up because now Sun and Moon are BOTH in control, and don't have to fight anymore.

Do you see now how Eclipse being a third AI destroys any type of closure and satisfaction the ending gave? Plus I think it's just makes everything CANONICALLY less interesting, in my opinion. And because of that I really don't think it's how Steelwool intended the ending to be interpretated.

Again, if you just like the idea of Eclipse being a third guy for fanon reasons, than thats fine. That's what AUs are all about! But if you spread misinformation about the CANON lore, then I just have to disagree.

Edit: Another thing!

When we turn the lights on, Sun doesn't take control of their body. Instead, they are paralysed and can't move at all. Helpy mentions that they are malfunctioning, and I think this means that whatever mechanism that diverts control of the body between Sun and Moon is broken. This means, in the physical world, only Moon is able to take control of the body. And the AR World is just where Sun's consciousness ended up.

If you look closely you can see their circuit board has multiple broken wires. These broken wires may have been what causes the control to divert, and they were damaged when the Pizzaplex went into ruin. This means that Sun is unable to take control of the body even if the lights are on, and the control is stuck on Moon and causes him to instead be paralysed when the lights turn on since the system still recognises that Moon can't be in light, but can't solve the problem by giving Sun control.

With this established, it doesn't make sense for Eclipse to be a third AI that took control when they were rebooted, because the system that diverts control is broken. That system couldn't be fixed with the reboot either, since it's his actual PHYSICAL wires that are disconnected. Even if Eclipse became conscious, there's no reason for him to be un-paralysed if he was a third AI that needs to take control away from Sun and Moon. Even if Eclipse was triggered by something other than light, if he is seperate from Sun and Moon, then the control system would still need to be used.

But if Eclipse was a fusion of Sun and Moon, then it wouldn't matter if the system was broken, because they wouldn't need to divert control to anyone! There's no one else inside their brain, it's just them now, and they are one person. Sun and Moon fusing together eliminates the paralysis because their code recognises Sun as being able to move in the light. And since Sun is already a part of Eclipse, there no need for the broken control system to be used. This allows Eclipse to be unaffected by light and can move away from the generator without anything happening. The reboot restores them to their factory settings, and those settings have no use for the control code because there is only one of them.

Edit:

Youtooz confirmed this again! They explicitly referred to their Eclipse merch as 'Sun and Moon' implying they believe Eclipse is a fusion of Sun and Moon. Now, I understand if you don't believe merch should be used in evidence for theories but I think Youtooz is trustworthy enough to at least warrant bringing up. This isn't like Funko where they regularly pull shit like ""Dark Springtrap"", Youtooz is known for being very professional and high-quality when it comes to FNAF. And they already had versions of this hanging pin for Sun and Moon alone so I don't see any other reason they would name their Eclipse merch like this.

Theatrical Tragedy!!!

(Aka an informational post about an AU I'm currently obsessing over)

This is most likely going to be a somewhat long post, so sorry about that-

Important thing to know before continuing!!!

Before I say anything else, there is something I want to make clear, because I know that this can make some people uncomfortable. This AU is an AU that contains Sun x Moon. They are not siblings in this AU. There may be times where there is implied shipping of one of these two and another character, but keep in mind that they're not in a polyamorous relationship of any sort (They just do it to mess with people, they both do it, they know the other one does it, it does not bother either of them).

Please also keep in mind that some art posted of Sun and Moon may be considered suggestive (Nothing explicit - mostly because it makes me uncomfortable - but do keep this in mind if you do decide to keep up with the AU). I've been trying to get more comfortable with drawing different things with my art, and this AU just so happens to be a good means for me to try and get more used to drawing characters in a relationship.

Neither of these should end up being posted that often in the art that I do post, but I felt it was important to inform you of the potential of these showing up. I understand not everyone likes these things. If you don't like anything mentioned here, please don't say anything about it, and just ignore the AU. Basically, in this AU, 'You' are a security worker in the Pizzaplex after the massive layoff of people. The security guards are the only ones that weren't fired, simply because they needed at least some people to do the things the robots couldn't do. Which unfortunately leaves you assigned to the daycare because of false reports of them being broken. ...And no one really trusts either of them. For the most part, you were basically just there to be a babysitter to a bratty animatronic that seems to hate you.

Moon, while rather annoying at times, doesn't have much of a problem with you. Sun seems to act like they hate you. Eclipse.... Eh, you'll find out.

Probably because of the mess that their AI was.

random thoughts about AI art

a problem i feel like we've got already with discussions about AI art are people who are ostensibly on the right side of the argument, but are so excited to fight the good fight that they end up being completely intellectually incurious about what the actual problems are.

"real art is made my humans, not computers" is a argument that throws a lot of helpful, efficient tools for artists out the window. this argument as applied to this situation cannot be used without procedural generation as a whole being raised. all of a sudden using blender's geometry nodes is now potentially invalidating. speedtree is a sinful tool for all game developers.

"it's always looks wrong and gross and creepy" is an argument against virtually all outsider art. wrong and gross and creepy are very useful tools in the artists' tool box. the uncanny is the striking, or the means by which we invite the audience in with comfort only to have them discover something shocking with their own examination. of course, i'm making the argument for its intentional use, but to use this against someone who tries to create beauty and lands on ugliness is an argument against every artist who is still learning.

"it can't even make hands" is a neighbor to the last argument, basically the idea that these systems will always be imperfect in their execution, and will always have telltale signs of what they are. that's simply not true. as long as they're continuing to be used and mastered by the people using them they will improve. they'll become more and more sophisticated and better adapt to modern sensibilities. if you're relying on "real artists will always be more technically proficient than computers" you're volunteering your heroes to fight larger and larger dragons every year.

the central issue (for me at least, your milage may vary, i am not a doctor, this is not legal advice, etc) is that every AI art generation algorithm i'm aware of was trained at least partially on stolen art. this was kind of always a necessity. the volume of data required to start getting useful results was always going to make assembling thousand and thousands of contemporary artworks legally financially infeasible. the engine needed fuel, and it's inventors were reckless about where they got it. now the influence of all that art is caught in the ephemera of these models in a way that it's simply impossible to remove. they will always be the result of this unethical act, and that is the driving argument against them.

this isn't NEVER brought up, obviously. i hear it most often from actual artists who are constantly walking a tightrope between making their art as accessible to the public as possible and trying to preserve it's value and retain any sense of ownership over their work. the general population, people who's hearts seem to be in the right place but lack stronger familiarity with the issue, have developed a habit of jumpin into arguments passionately arguing points like "a computer can NEVER make REAL art," "it ALWAYS looks GROSS and STERILE and CREEPY" or "it can't even make HANDS!!" these are surface-level objections, so reductionist as to not really be very helpful. they're the art-tech equivalent of "Trump is a bad president, he's so OLD and FAT and UGLY."

(A Short Word about Boundaries and Parasocial Relationships: This is a Serious Section; FINISHED)

(Also a quick note: If you see a post or person that does something similar to what I'm writing about, please do not harass them. Especially when it's people having parasocial relationships. They just need to be careful to not have a unhealthy attachment over people since it hurts them mentally in the long-term. I chose to not name anyone or use specific pronouns for the sake of anonymity; not for any malicious attempt.)

For people in the fandom who are wondering, I have unfortunately seen people border on the line of sexualizing the Narrator’s VA, Kevan Brighting. More specifically, disregards his boundaries for how he wants his voice to be used and not used; especially in context to…not safe for work uses of his voice. I want to say this now before this escalates into people genuinely crossing this line and I feel like it’s a good reminder. We should care about making Kevan Brighting as comfortable as possible when engaging in the fandom, as he now knows what we say about him. As funny as his “sexiest man in Britain” tweet was, he knows. We should care because he does connect himself quite often in fan-made and Stanley Parable-inspired projects. He has always absorbed himself in the fanbase when he didn’t absolutely need to since the original game came out, and it’s best to have him stay comfortable doing this. Since his level of involvement in the fandom is not very common, to begin with, it’s not wise to give him a reason to stop. Also, more generally because it’s not okay at all to disregard anyone’s expressed boundaries and it shouldn’t be a normal thing to do. Actually, in this case, it’s really creepy and disrespectful and did I mention creepy?

For context, a Tumblr user by the name of @/shinakazami1 contacted Brighting to ask for his thoughts on his voice being used for AI. This was his response;

“...Regarding AI - I hate everything about it. The idea that someone could use my voice for something I don’t agree with is abhorrent. A voice artist must have artistic control over the work he/she does…” - Excerpt of his response

You must be wondering about the connection between AI and the sexualization of the voice actor. See, the reason the user contacted Brighting, to begin with, was because another person on a Stanley Parable Discord server posted an NSFW audio of the Narrator. Using the AI of Brighting’s voice to do so. Pain. Agony, if you will.

There are a lot of ethical issues behind this action. Aside from the reason Brighting stated directly, this could also affect him financially; as he is a voice actor and general voiceover artist. AI audios of his voice would certainly impede his career. As an artist, this is a genuine thing he would probably worry about; and rightfully so. In the case of NSFW audio, this may also overstep a potential boundary he may have. Especially when it is NSFW without his permission. Even if he had no issue over NSFW audios particularly, he would have an issue about being in audio where he didn’t even get the chance to accept/deny. Even if you’re embarrassed, just ask him about his boundaries. Like, he should at least have a choice to say ‘no, fuck off’ and take requests on his own terms. Hopefully for obvious reasons. …but people kinda suck.

Unfortunately, it’s not just that one Discord user. Bro, I’m at my limit. I’m gonna have to talk about TikTok. God damnit. I said TikTok was its own beast about the Narrator for a reason. TikTok as well as Instagram, are mostly known in fandom spaces for containing edits of whatever character in whatever media. There’s a lot of work and effort that is put into making edits, and many are rewarded by people barking in the comment sections. As someone who has seen edits from different fandoms for about three to four years, I respect many editors and I understand why some would edit certain characters. Of course there are going to be edits of the Narrator; especially if you include Sad-ist’s Clock 0ut animations that are inspired by the Stanley Parable. It’s a hot old guy with a hot voice; I’m not exactly shocked by that in itself. By extension, of course some of those edits are suggestive or lean into NSFW territory. It’s understandable and it can be fine to make those edits if it doesn’t impede on real people’s boundaries or if the involved people openly say ‘It’s good, bro’. Now here’s where the problems start. 

At least a few TikTok edits have used AI of Brighting’s voice for parts that have NSFW. Whether it’s having the AI say NSFW things, having it be implied or even having it whimper, the main gist is that his voice is used for NSFW; despite the voice actor not directly consenting to a part of it. I’m so done with you people. Many potential problems would occur because of the decision of doing such. I already brought up how Brighting’s career of voicework could be affected financially by the use of AI but there’s another potential issue. It could probably also affect him socially and his involvement in future projects. The fact that these edits featuring AI don’t get that popular, is kind of a miracle. If those edits ever went outside of the fandom and into a more professional setting, it would be unnecessarily difficult for him to explain that he wasn’t even a part of those edits. I say ‘unnecessarily’ because you don’t even need AI to hear him in that context. 

You could’ve used a scene from one of his audiobooks. They work for their intended purpose and you don’t even have to buy the books. I understand not doing some things because of money problems but… NSFW audios aren’t a necessity and the audiobooks are free! If it’s because of convenience, then how is AI any more convenient? It’s not hard to find the audiobooks at all! Some of the audio files are on Tumblr for fuck’s sake. There’s no logical sense of why the decision of using AI is okay because it’s not okay. It is very disrespectful to disregard his boundaries and if I really wanted to go there, this borders on harassment. It’s not difficult to respect open boundaries that are openly stated with absolutely no ambiguity. Look, at least for the audiobooks, Brighting did them willingly. You did not need AI; you really didn’t. 

Some people even go as far as to say his tweet about him being the sexiest man in Britain was indicative that he’s fine with the sexualization of the Narrator and by extension, NSFW edits featuring AI. Well, that’s a fucking reach if I ever saw one. Even though the sexualization of the Narrator wasn’t even the issue stated, Brighting responded in an email stating how much he hated AI. The AI is the issue; not the Narrator simping. Kevan Brighting can think the sexualization of the Narrator is funny because the Narrator isn’t real. But Brighting is real. He’s a living, breathing, voice-acting guy with boundaries. You couldn’t be bothered to have the NSFW audios be from the audiobooks he agreed to be a part of and consented to do? If you could put enough effort into making a TikTok edit, you could put enough effort into not being a smooth brain. You don’t need a fictional character’s consent, but you do need consent from real-life people who are affected if you don’t respect their consent. If you can’t understand the difference between a fictional character and a real person to where it affects real people in reality, you shouldn’t be trusted to post anything of that nature.

It’s one thing to not know and later to apologize for your mistake. But, it’s another thing to hear his response that he doesn’t like AI of his voice period…like at all and it’s just…one ear and out the other. The people who make these edits with AI did not understand why he said this and should have apologized or deleted them after being disclosed of his boundaries. It won’t kill you to have basic courtesy. I assume most people don’t know of his thoughts on AI before making the edits because if they knew already, it would make the situation so much worse. Still, it’s worth an apology. (See Also: Hanlon's razor)

(Parasocial Relationship Part)

AI is not the only issue since TikTok also blurs the line when talking about the Narrator and Kevan Brighting in some unrelated cases. Some people forget that Brighting is a real guy and they think of him as like a fictional character.  

I saw a TikTok post that wondered why Brighting was wearing women’s frames for his glasses in one image and half the comments were like ‘bully him’. First of all, I don’t care about what kind of glasses he’s wearing so the post already feels a bit weird to me but outside of that. If these are jokes and I hope these are jokes, they are jokes that you would make for a fictional character. Similar to “I wanna stick this fictional character in a blender”; but that’s obviously a joke because the character can’t actually get hurt. There’s no tangible effect if you shoved a fictional character in a blender. Except these are jokes about a real person; not a fictional character. There would be a tangible effect if someone were to actually bully Brighting for wearing women’s frames. Which is also stupid because even if he did wear mainly women’s frames, why does it matter? Is that really something that would make you feel less about a person? Hopefully not, because it really doesn't matter and I can't think of a way where it would. Also men can wear women’s frames as long as the frame size is right for his proportions, and most frames are labeled as ‘unisex’ so it matters even less. Imagining genuinely having the want to bully an older guy because he doesn't present himself in a completely masculine way, despite him wearing different frames in every other photo and not even wearing glasses in some. This is why I’m dead set on these being jokes because if they aren’t, as a gender-non-conforming person, I would be so mad. This is a weird thing to fixate on because glasses frames are unisex; so not even people who are weird about gender roles give a shit. Even my 70+ year old grandpa didn’t care when I was trying out new glasses. It really doesn’t fucking matter. Though on the plus side, the other half of the comments were like ‘Leave him alone. He just wants to and he can do what he wants”. Though there were a few people that called him ‘girly pop’ in Brighting’s defense, I'll get to that. It does show how easy it is for people on TikTok to think of reality similar to fiction; which makes some users say stupid shit about the real person. 

Some people are also way too comfortable when talking about Brighting, thinking of him as a best friend or an ‘icon’. That one person who called Brighting “girly pop” is a good example of how comfortable people can get when talking about him, despite not even sharing the same air as him. Like I see people respond to his tweets with “bestie” and “I love you”. It could be just me but it takes years for me to be best friends with someone and to tell them “I love you” is even longer. So the words and phrases I associate with long-lasting friendships are being used for someone who hasn’t even talked to you. If that isn’t parasocial, I don’t know what is. In one case I particularly remember, I saw a TikTok of someone thinking about Brighting as like an adoptive father figure. Basically wanting Brighting to adopt them. Which…I'm not gonna completely disregard the entire idea. I understand the want for a respectable father figure in your life; hell, the relationship with my dad is nonexistent. I can see how people think of him in a parental way and in most other positive ways. However, I worry for the people who attach themselves to Brighting in this one-sided way if they aren't careful. Especially if they perceive him as such a personal figure, like a best friend or family member. Because when you perceive someone in this regard, you're going to feel the same emotions that you would with actual friends or family members. This goes for positive  emotions, and unfortunately, this also goes for negative emotions. And don’t even get me started on perceiving him romantically or… suggestively because those emotions are even stronger. I’ve even seen people on TikTok openly say they’re “simps” for Kevan Brighting; the real guy that can easily see your comment and understand what you’re talking about by looking it up. 

The emotions towards the person are increased to such a strong and personal level, simply put. So when he disappoints you or does what you perceive as disappointing, it’s going to be more difficult to brush it off than if you thought of him as just a guy. As someone who had parasocial relationships like that at a young age, it’s very difficult to get over it and it’s even more difficult to recognize that you’re doing it. So the one thing I just need to say that you have to know is the famous person of your attachment  doesn't know you exist. Kevan Brighting is not your friend. That’s not his fault and that’s not your fault. He’s just not reasonably going to know every person that knows him, and he’s probably not gonna be on-board with every person’s perception of him. If I was in his position, I would not feel comfortable being regarded as a parental figure or a best friend by people that I don’t even know. But I’m saying this to myself as much as I’m saying this to other people because I make this mistake as well. I get too comfortable talking about people I know nothing about. I’m not innocent in this regard. I get too fixated over real life people sometimes. Despite me knowing about Brighting’s career in voicework and broadcasting, I really don’t know him personally. I don’t know his age, his height, his favorite fucking color and I certainly don’t know how he is as a person. I can make guesses but they are just guesses. Just because I have the opportunity to acknowledge him doesn’t mean he has the opportunity to acknowledge me, and that’s fine.

It’s fine to talk about how talented his voice acting is, or even how attractive/hot his voice is. Because he’s indeed talented and his voice does sound very attractive. But there’s gotta be a limit. I also understand thinking positively about him because he seems like a genuinely friendly and down-to-earth person. But notice how I said ‘seem’? That’s because, to reiterate, I don’t know him personally. He could be eating souls and I would be none the wiser (THAT IS A JOKE). Kevan Brighting is a real-life person with thoughts and feelings and his bounds should be respected. Don’t be like the people I just talked about. He’s talented as hell in voice acting, and that is enough for the community to talk about. It definitely was for me; like look at my “Narrator’s Voice” section again. Straight up 10 pages. Hell, I’m planning on writing something else about his other performances because his voice is just…too good. Yeah, that’s right! I’M NOT DONE!

Saw people being silly about Monster Girl from Invincible again

For the unaware, Monster Girl is a woman (I think she's 28, but I could be misremembering the exact number) who can transform into basically The Hulk, but every time she does it she gets a little bit physically younger. She still uses her power to fight evil because it's the right thing to do, but her life kinda sucks because she appears to be a middle schooler. She used to call herself Monster Woman but people would crack jokes about "a child" calling herself a woman, and she can't buy herself alcohol or find a romantic partner or handle any business wherein you need a professional adult to take you seriously.

There is another character named Robot [MAJOR SPOILERS] who everyone thinks is a super advanced AI in a mechanical body, but in reality the robot is being remotely piloted by a 30-something guy who is a genius but can never leave the medical facility he's been in since birth because of his crippling and extremely painful physical disabilities. When he hears Monster Girl's story, he feels that for the first time he's found someone he can relate to, that they have the same experience of being stuck with a body that both prevents them from connecting with other people and doesn't feel like their own

He goes to some highly unethical and quite creepy lengths to get his consciousness into a human body that he believes will be both attractive to her and young enough in appearance to not get weird looks when walking with her, and he does all this as prep work for suddenly revealing that he's human and he's in to her. She's justifiably put off at first, but when she thinks about it, she also believes they can relate to each other, and they talk it out and she ends up sharing his feelings. I forget if they officially agree to date or not by the end of the first season, but at the very least things are headed that direction

It blows my mind that people don't see how interesting this character dynamic is and don't find these characters super compelling, but some people are just fucking weird, and thus I have once again seen the take that Monster Girl ONLY exists to give pedophiles something safe to jack off to and that her relationship with Robot is proof of that. The idea of boiling Monster Girl down to a sex object and Robot down to a creepy loser's power fantasy just really irks me.

There just seems to be a complete lack of comprehension that many characters are written to be exploration, not representation. Sometimes you make up a guy and then put him in situations to see what will happen, and it's not designed to be anybody's self-insert or wish fulfillment

(also, let's talk about how Robot's actions may be unethical and creepy, but in a fictional context I don't have to care about that and it's actually so horribly romantic to steal your frenemy's DNA and use it in unethical and illegal experiments that will allow you to prove your devotion to the one you love and hopefully earn their affection in return)

Mass Effect 3 replay, part two of Leviathan:

-On the shuttle in, if you go renegade Shepard speaks about Leviathan like they know it’s a person. They don’t know that yet; it could be a weapon that was used once then abandoned.

I suppose the person that spoke Hadley was a give away that a person is involved, even if they themselves may not be the Leviathan.

-Leviathan is a horror story, and I love it for that. It’s very well done.

-That said, you’d think the Leviathans would be better at passing as regular organics after billions of years of practice. The humans at the entrance do not act even remotely normal.

I suppose the Leviathans are probably not controlling these people directly at all times, but even so you’d think their “auto pilot” setting would be more natural.

-Why does this asteroid in the middle of nowhere have a program to give tours?

Given how.. not right everyone is, you’d think that if tours were a standard occurrence the asteroid’s irregularities would have been flagged by now.

-And par for the course, there are cables all over the floor.

This can’t be blamed on the Reapers, unless they inherited it from the Leviathans.

The future has terrible safety policies.

-So the residents blatantly broke the elevator to keep Shepard out, but just hang around while they repair the elevator.

Where is this “security” they keep threatening to call?

You’d think they’d at least try to stop Shepard. It’s not like the Leviathans will care if these people die.

-The data pads and terminals reflect much more natural language than what the residents say to Shepard.

I think most of the time the control the Leviathans use on the residents is light; with Shepard on the station, however, they are exerting more direct control than normal.

Hence the far more abnormal behavior.

-Are the turians supposed to be in scientist outfits? Those look like formal wear!

-The writing for the researchers is fantastic. Global starvation, how to make a colony disappear… Never too much detail, but all disturbing and not right.

-And the way the video tour cuts off, displays Shepard and co to indicate they’re on camera, then starts throwing an error message?

Genuinely creepy.

-Why is the security for the mineral lab all access when it contains extremely confidential research?

I can see why it started all access, but you think that would have changed when they started researching global starvation and dangerous plants.

-The subtitles for “Dr. Garneau” label him as patient. A subtle hint it’s not the real Garneau.

-His behavior is also far more normal than the rest of the residents. When the Leviathans make an effort, they can pass as a regular organic.

-The part with the repair drone is blatant filler and aggravating. I’m a vanguard; I’m not designed to stay close to it.

-In his last scene “Dr. Garneau” is labeled Leviathan.

-Shepard’s also decided that Leviathan is the person that spoke through “Dr. Garneau”. They attribute all the oddities on the asteroid to him and use “he” instead of “it”.

-The poor residents of that asteroid. They’ve lost 10 years.

And it will probably be rough on them, because to the rest of the galaxy they have been present. Just uncaring.

That could be a horror story in itself – waking up after a decade, all your friends and family lost because they think you discarded them.

Oh, and there’s an ancient civilization of AI harvesting all organic life. Can’t forget that part.

-The real Garneau somehow managed to develop a way to block the artifact’s mind altering properties, because of he did; the plot demanded it.

How long was he at that asteroid total? A week?

-Ridiculousness aside, I’m curious about how Leviathan and Reaper indoctrination are alike and differ.

Leviathan indoctrination generally seems “gentler” than Reaper indoctrination; it’s more about nudging the person to do what they want them to do. It can be blocked. If the person is cut off from the source, they return to normal – although as we see with Ann Bryson the still indoctrination is still there.

Reaper indoctrination always leads to deterioration and is unblockable. Once indoctrinated, the person never returns to “normal”; they always act in the Reapers’ interest.

Both Leviathans and Reapers are able to exert direct control of the indoctrinated, although they generally refrain from doing so.

-This part ends on a frightening note, with Shepard stating that artifact is in the middle of the Citadel.

Shame nothing comes of it; the impact the Leviathan could have if they gained direct control of key Citadel personnel is tremendous.

Could they indoctrinate a Keeper?

-I’m impressed by how nearly everyone has dialogue related to the mission.

-Liara, don’t sleep less. We need you at the top of your game. Hire an assistant or get another VI to sort through your data.

-Garrus apologized to Tali for his shittiness to her in ME1.

That’s growth.

-She’s also very blatantly flirting with him after, although I’m not sure he caught it.

-Tali wants to find Leviathan to free all the other people they’ve indoctrinated.

A good cause.

I’m, uh, pretty sure that’s not how this ends. We get the Leviathan as “allies”, but they absolutely intend to enslave everyone after the Reapers are taken out.

Freeing other facilities they’ve taken over is not mentioned. Or a feasible demand.

Shepard says they’re watching it for a friend.

They haven’t lost hope Anderson will make it. And they’re not ready to claim the apartment as theirs.

-Jack says biotics make Varren short tempered. Is that true for all species?

-Jack is completely oblivious to the parallels with Eezo, even when pointed out.

Huge improvement, but still a large blind spot when it comes to herself.

Some of these may be a repeat, but I’d like to give them a an additional boost, as the books I read and loved the most this year (after reading almost 300 books again =w=;;; )

Pixels of You by Ananth Hirsch, Yuko Ota, J.R. Doyle

A human and human-presenting AI slowly become friends—and maybe more—in this moving YA graphic novel In a near future, augmentation and AI changed everything and nothing. Indira is a human girl who has been cybernetically augmented after a tragic accident, and Fawn is one of the first human-presenting AI. They have the same internship at a gallery, but neither thinks much of the other’s photography. But after a huge public blowout, their mentor gives them an ultimatum: work together on a project or leave her gallery forever. Grudgingly, the two begin to collaborate, and what comes out of it is astounding and revealing for both of them. Pixels of You is about the slow transformation of a rivalry to a friendship to something more as Indira and Fawn navigate each other, the world around them—and what it means to be an artist and a person.

Crossplay Love: Otaku X Punk by Tooru

 In this LGBT+ high school romantic comedy, a nerd and a delinquent find themselves attracted to each other, but only when they're crossdressing at a maid cafe! Shuumei has a problem. He's in love with a girl who works at a maid cafe, but he's too cool to go into a place like that without being embarrassed. But girls can go to maid cafes without seeming creepy, right? When he dresses in feminine clothes and transforms himself into Mei, he can finally walk into the place to meet the girl of his dreams: the lovely blonde Hana. I can see her looking after you a lot, like if you forgot something at home on your way to school, she'll make sure to have a replacement for that thing or takes it and gives it to you if she notices you not having taken it yourself

Sometimes you jokingly call HER 'mom' or 'grandma em' because of the way she acts/dresses; she pretends to hate it but actually thinks its a little funny

Speaking of jokes you can't convince me Emma isn't a memer, she sends you dumb things she found on pinterest or old vine compilations and references them constantly, even if only to get a reaction out of you

She means no harm of course, but teasing you is just too funny! She can't help it!

Naturally it doesn't stop at just teasing, you get the short end of the stick with her jokes just like Hajime. You've been sitting through her nonsense for your whole life by now, it's as if shes some sort of joke encyclopedia because she has at least TWO for everything

If you do happen to have a similar sense of humor though, you guys would be having all-out pun wars for who can out-joke the other

Void is subjected to almost all of you and Emma's wars whenever you're invited to visit, which is not often because they insist that ONE Emma was enough

But oh, otherwise Void is actually quite fond of you! (even if you may have your differences with any members)

Nikei would be pestering you nonstop for your likes, dislikes, etc.. He never goes for the 'pervy' joke question though, he thinks it'd be weird because you're Emma's sibling.

You've probably already met Hajime before because of him being closer to Emma, but somehow he's even MORE motherly than her so you quickly shift your 'ok mom' jokes to him aswell. He doesn't know what to say to that and it confuses him more than anything

A lot of things depend on you liking Mikado, if it's AI!Mikado you're probably iffy on him; no-one can be THAT charming and creepy at the same time, he's probably like a serial killer or something, if you ever told him that though he'd tell on you to Emma, who would ignore him and leave him defeated ("Boo-hoo.. Y/N really thinks so lowley of me! I'm in tears!")

If it's IRL!Mikado though, you and him probably wouldn't talk much in the first place. He's not very good with new people and probably made a nervous error that made him too emberassed to talk to you for a while. He'll warm up eventually but you probably know him as the guy whos typing away on his computer all the time Overall, you and Emma have a pretty eventful life and are always finding new things to do. She really is glad to have family like you, afterall, it's all she's ever wanted

I got another one for you!! Rank the main villains/misguided antagonists of Pokémon, worst to best!

Oh gosh, this one's going to be a bit tricky.

1 - CYRUS. Team Galactic is such a fucking slog; they aren't even mildly amusing in the same way Team Rocket are, they just get in the way. At the head of this bizarrely hedonistic operation is Cyrus, a lunatic with his head so far up his own ass that he can't hear how fucking boring and self-centered he sounds.

2 - GHETSIS. He's creepy and deranged, certainly, but he's also kind of boring. In my opinion he also got a downgrade in B2W2 when he stopped being this "man behind the throne" kind of character and just became an evil dictator. N's presence is integral to his effectiveness, and once they split up he's not nearly as interesting.

3 - GIOVANNI. Credit where credit is due - Giovanni is the OG Pokemon villain, and he's not half bad either. He's also the only explicit villain that is on a League - Malva might count but I don't know if it was ever confirmed if she had anything to do with Team Flare or if she was just kind of there. Giovanni's also great because, as far as I'm aware, his ultimate goal is largely financial power, which is easier to understand than some other Pokemon villains.

4 - VOLO. Volo is where things start to get interesting in this list. He's a play on a zealous acolyte; he craves Arceus' blessing and he ends up enlisting Giratina's help to tear open a hole in the universe in order for them to meet, but he ultimately fails when you defeat him and Giratina flees. I liked his vaguely unsettling aura and the fact that he was always there when you least expected him to be, and I kind of get his motive to where he wants a reason for any suffering he faced, but ultimately the rest of his character kind of falls flat.

5 - LUSAMINE. I really liked Lusamine when I first fought her - how batshit crazy and obsessed she was; how she was willing to basically disown her own children in order to get what she wanted. In immediate hindsight her whole shpeal kind of petered out for me because I didn't know who Mohn (her long-lost husband) was and thus I had no idea what her motive was. USUM definitely did her a disservice by kinda-sorta redeeming her on-screen instead of leaving her fate up in the air like the original games did.

(The rest of these are all pretty close together in terms of how much I like them, so ranking is a little more approximate from here on out.)

6 - ROSE. SWSH unfortunately suffers from a poor plot anyway, which really doesn't do Rose any favors, but I really enjoy his calm, bussinesslike approach to everything, and how he's genuinely done good things for his community while also doing some questionable ones. I like how it's hinted that both Magnolia and Sonia regard him with hesitancy but no-one really elaborates as to why. I like how when you defeat Eternatus he just kind of... disappears, and his name is scrubbed from the League. I don't think anyone talks about him after that. That may be a plothole and not a deliberate choice, but it makes me want to study him acutely under a microscope.

7 - ARCHIE / MAXIE. (I'm counting these two as a pair because they serve the same purpose within their respective games.) My first villains! This is where my "well-intentioned but dumb" appreciation stems from; these two wanted to aid in the progress of humanity and also the conservation of certain Pokemon, but obviously didn't have any braincells dedicated to the consequences of their actions. It's actually really interesting to see them wholeheartedly regret their actions and realise their colossal mistakes in the moment.

8 - SADA / TURO AI. This villain and overall culmination of the SV story is so fucking terrifying and intimidating that I can't not love it. The plot twist that the Professor had been dead for years before your introduction to them was applause-worthy; the reveal that the AI had more affection, or at least respect, for the current world and the Professor's neglected son was heartbreaking. That was the moment that really shattered the illusion - that maybe, just maybe, Sada/Turo was a good person after all, but nope! They were just a deadbeat, obsessed parent all along.

9 - LYSANDRE. There's something about Lysandre that I find very, very appealing. He and Rose are very similar, and he also shares certain traits and motives with Cyrus of all people, but Lysandre succeeds more due to seemingly being more likable and having more genuine relationships - he at least has a friendship with Sycamore (or so the Professor claims). It's evident that no-one thought the worst of him and just considered him to be passionate about his desire to make the world more "beautiful". He sacrifices himself because he can't bear to live with his mistakes or his inability to accept the world as it is. He cries on-screen. He's a very poetic antagonist and I enjoy him immensely. Also his design is A+ and I love the way he carries himself.
