summary: it’s just another day on the farm, the fall season settling nicely in the valley, when elliott finds a surprise on the farm from his beloved (y/n).

★ orchard - elliott x farmer ★

The crisp fall breeze ruffled Elliott’s hair, as he stepped out to the porch of the farmhouse. He inhaled the fresh air and exhaled deeply, admiring the little farm before him. The chickens clucked and the cows mooed, the fragrance of sweet corn and sour grapes coated the air, this little farm was truly home for the writer.

Elliott plopped down on the porch’s rocking chair and whipped out his notebook, “Another beautiful day to work,” he hummed softly to himself, as his pencil made contact with the paper and began to write. Camelia Station, Elliott’s first novel, managed to garner a dedicated fan base and his publicist informed him that getting another romance book on the shelves would only make his image as a writer better. Elliott didn’t mind his image, but he cherished his fans just as much as writing. Thus, he spent the last season or so on the porch, brainstorming and planning the next novel.

However, today wasn’t the day to write, as Elliott stared down the words he wrote out, a series of incomprehensible gibberish masking as literary genius. He huffed and set his notebook aside, Don’t let this end you, Elliott reassured himself, It’s okay to have a block. It happens to the best, but he couldn’t shake off the frustration bubbling up to his throat. However, a small meow greeted him and Elliott visibly relaxed, as Lobbie the grey cat leapt onto his lap and made herself at home.

“Oh, sweet Lobbie,” the redhead whispered to the cat while stroking her back, “I think today will have to be a lazy day for you and me,” the cat purred happily and kneaded on his thigh, “It seems that you’re in agreement, as well,” Elliott continued to pet Lobbie, his eyes fluttering with exhaustion. It was only seven in the morning, he shouldn’t be tired already. Yet, the amount of all nighters he pulled, anxiously writing out idea after idea at his writing desk, was enough to make the most energetic of people tired.

The sound of a rickey wheelbarrow echoed from a distance, the volume increasing as it got closer and closer. Elliott cracked one eye open and noticed you, his spouse, wheeling a pile of dirt towards an unused section of the farm. You unceremoniously dumped the dirt on the ground and returned the wheelbarrow to the nearby shed before noticing your husband on the porch. A smile graced your lips and you waved at him, which he returned with a smile and a wave of his own. What a hard worker, the ginger watched you head off to a different section of the farm, I wish I had their work ethic, his smile morphed into a frown, Maybe then I would have a solid idea of what to write next.

Lobbie hopped off Elliott’s lap and trotted off, perhaps to catch a mouse or one of the chickens. Elliott took the opportunity to stand and stretch out his long, wiry arms. He looked around the farm for you, seeing if he could be of some use for you, but to his surprise, you were nowhere in sight. Elliott knitted his eyebrows together, I swore I just saw them. Did they head off to visit Pierre’s or Robin’s?

He walked down from the porch and onto the farmland, rich soil beneath his loafers. Elliott checked the barn, the coop, the cave, and the greenhouse, but there was no sign of you anywhere. The writer lowered his shoulders in defeat and turned on his heel to return to the farmhouse when he heard the sound of water being poured. Elliott followed the sound, past the greenhouse and into the woods, “(Y/N)?” he called out to you, “My love, are you there?” the ginger scanned the wooded area before his eyes fell upon a simply spectacular sight.

An orchard, it was an orchard covered in a pheltora of fruit trees. They weren’t just any fruit trees, though; no, they were pomegranate trees, the sweet plump fruit hanging from the branches. It had to have taken months for these trees to mature to such a size and to bear such gorgeous pomegranates- and there you were! You were watering the closest pomegranate tree with the burgundy watering can Elliott gifted to you on New Year’s Eve. Elliott watched in awe, as you set the watering can down and reached for the lone pomegranate on the tree. You tugged at the fruit until it broke free of its branch and examined it for any irregularities. Once satisfied, you gently placed it in your wicker basket and moved onto the next tree.

“(Y/N)?” the writer appeared behind you, nearly making you jump out of your skin, “Elliott!” a yelp escaped your throat, “Don’t sneak up on me like that!” you scolded your husband. Elliott gave you an apologetic smile, “My mistake,” he eyed the surrounding pomegranate trees, “What’s all this, my love?”

“Oh!” your face heated up, “Damnit, I was going to show you this in a few days as your birthday surprise,” you pinched your nose with a sigh, “I guess I wasn’t that sneaky, huh?”

“You were pretty sneaky,” he answered, “It must have taken months for you to grow all these trees.”

“I started working on the orchard when we got engaged last summer,” you confessed sheepishly, “I wanted to have a piece of you as part of the farmland,” a nervous smile formed on your face, “I know how much you love pomegranates so I thought Hey, why don’t I grow some pomegranate trees? and next thing I knew, I had twenty or so planted and bearing fruit.”

“You did this all for me?” the writer’s expression was a mixture of surprise, bewilderment, and joy. You nodded, “I thought it would be a good birthday surprise since the trees’ maturity and fruit bearing overlapped with your birthday.”

Elliott suddenly pulled you into a tight embrace, nearly knocking the wind out of you, as he held you as close as he could in his arms. You hugged him back and felt his body shaky, as Elliott began to sob quietly in your arms, “You did this for me, all for me? You truly are a gift from Yoba, my love. This is the greatest act of love I have ever received or bore witness to, I- Oh, (Y/N)-”, you rubbed his back while he blabbered on and on how honored and overjoyed by your dedication to the orchard.

To you, creating the orchard was simply a gift, something you wanted your husband to enjoy, but to Elliott? The orchard was a sign that you were his soulmate, that the bond and love between you two was enough to foster great trees upon trees of delicious pomegranates.

After all, the pomegranate symbolized a rich, fulfilled life.

Kyle- Kyle SO has a sweet tooth!!! (I love that that’s a universal Kyle hc btw) that boy is THERE for any baked goods deadass even those shitty gas station packaged muffins (Stan is scribbling out the nutritional information (or as he calls it, Food Lore, well into their 30s)) and Kyle def consumes anything sugary. As for actual real food, he likes Italian a lot which works very well bc pasta is a general hit w everyone. Favorite fast food place is subway and he ALWAYS rearranges the sandwich components to make sure the distribution is right (he claims he doesn’t have obsessive compulsive tendencies) (he does) so this guy is THE reason the ojv is called the ojv, his favorite beverage is orange juice with seven ice cubes and a pinch of salt bc he’s picky even when he claims to not be, he’s also a red wine enjoyer

STAN!!! Oh my god he and Cartman and Kenny are bottomless pits!!! Stan is a big boi and he’s packing away everything he eats bc 1) he hates waste, and 2) he’s just hungry. BUT he’s really more of a savory guy. Veggie king, ofc, and he’s at every fast food place in town ordering any vegetarian option, ALSO!!! This man LOVES spicy food but his stomach doesn’t. He’ll get a couple crunchwraps sub refried beans and slather that shit in Diablo sauce, but there’s a pretty good chance he’s gonna be nauseous a few hours later. Also he loves Kyle’s cooking!!! Bc Ky likes to cook when he’s stressed and Stan likes Kyle, and Kyle makes this really kickass homemade bread (jalapeño cheese bread oh my god I really want some now) Stan is also SO bad at drinking water but he is in fact a soda enjoyer. Miller Lite and the cheapest vodka known to man (before he stopped drinking) are a staple, also he frequents the local smoothie king and gets a chocolate hulk. For most of their life style has been ordering an olive and pineapple pizza. Stan always dips it in extra marinara.

Tweek- he is seriously just a snacker. Like Girl Dinner has nothing on Tweek Dinner. His meals look like a Charlie Brown thanksgiving. If he even remembers food is a thing. But like Craig will come home and be like “what do u want for dinner” and Tweek’s like “oh I ate a whole jar of pickles” the amount of half eaten granola bars in that house smh. BUT he can decimate so much garlic bread. A very big lemonade fan.

Craig! He’ll eat whatever, nonchalant KING unless!!!! He’s having a bad day and is already on the cusp of a meltdown. If he’s overstimulated it’s a sprite and an uncrustable. A grape uncrustable. Also I just feel like he likes seafood? I cannot explain why, but he does. Also he’s really good about hydration, he likes routine and he has one of those bottles w the time markers lmao. And he’s weirdly pretentious abt craft beers like when he and Kyle take their lil excursions to their spot he’s drinking an ipa that’s lowkey gross but then he’s just shrugging at Kyle and being all “idk the citrus hits in the aftertaste” like an asshole.

KENNY ok Kenny is also not picky in the slightest, how could he be with how he grew up, but I feel like he’s especially fond of easy meals like casseroles, frozen pizza, that kind of stuff. When he starts actually making a stable living off his art he hits up ALL the local food trucks and small businesses and broadens his food knowledge, and he’s keeping the smaller struggling businesses going just by his support. He is another example of ojv losers not drinking enough water, thinks Mountain Dew counts, literally he would’ve developed scurvy in college if left to his own devices. SMH ily kenneth also he and Stan have both thrown up bc they tried to one up each other doing shots of hot sauce

Marj my queen! She, like Kyle, likes sugar, if the homies are going to a diner she’s getting pancakes, and she takes her coffee ALL dressed up. Also kenny is the grillmaster and Marj is making the BEST sides for the bbq!!! Omg she loves her some pasta salad and a lil shrimp shishkabab moment like put this girl on the cover of a southern living magazine with her sweet iced tea (she makes the best sweet tea) marj my goddess pls quit causing problems on the internet and just use ur hospitality degree to run a b&b and make the best biscuits and gravy ever

Cartman. Bruh. Eric Cartman. He has THE most expensive taste known to man when he’s older but until he gets into the Rich People scene he doesn’t really care about what he’s eating or if it’s of good quality. In college he dragged the m5 to some shitty steakhouse bc he heard it was a good deal, and also bc he was mad at Stan for belting As Long As You’re Mine from Wicked and he knew Stan wouldn’t have any food options there lmfao that asshole (he did have to put a dollar in the Fuckwad Jar). I'm new to marauders, this is the second fic I've read.

Summary: I liked this fic, a lot. It was a fun read and I really liked the progression of both Wolfstar and James/Lili (is it Jilly? I can’t remember). A bit less angsty than what I usually read and some parts felt underbaked, but the author kept my attention INCREDIBLY. I stayed up about four hours later than I usually do binge reading this. Very good.

I wish they’d addressed Sirius’ use of the Cruiciatus curse, and I wish they’d address Dumbledores failings more directly

Werewolf shit was fantastic to read, the angst, the fear, the violence, the drama. I thought the transformations were excellently done and I really enjoyed the progression of them figuring out the roaming/playing

Hogsmeade passage shut off? Strange.

I did not enjoy that I cannot be sure they are safe. That’s a benefit of post-hog warts fic, if its truly marauders James and Lily often don’t die.

Overall very happy fic. I did love the aggressive use of drunkness as a plot device, I liked Lily’s characterization for the most part, and it was pretty addicting in the middle.

I thought Characterization was good, not fantastic but definitely good. Peter threw me, not very likable. It’s hard to do him correctly and have him add worth to the story, but I just did not like him the whole time, and I felt like Remus and Sirius both didn’t care for him and found him annoying.

My rankings are not supposed to be biased. Horrible shitty fic would get like a one, something readable but bad would get a fourish. Most fics that I read will be around 7-9 simply because I sort by Kudos and get recs from misuss so they’re better quality to begin with.

Great light silly read, with just enough depth to keep it interesting. I could see myself re-reading this fic once I get to know the marauders better.

Also, I do not like the fanart in this fic but I'm sure that's not universal. The artist is credited within the fic but I'd like to tag them here just to acknoledge the hard work that went into it. I checked them out and ADORE some of their other work, this one was just not to my liking. They have some percy jackson shit up that EATS.

I can’t stop thinking about MC who died and came back wrong after the events of Lesson 16. I’m lowkey obsessing abt it. I keep thinking about the inherent tragedy of it, trying to live alongside somebody who amounts to a ghost

The brothers loving and trying to make it up to this dead thing, clumsy and uncertain. MC tries, they do — they try to go through the motions and be the proper MC the brothers remember, be the one who quells and soothes and fixes, but they don’t feel anything all the way anymore. The love they felt for the brothers exists inside a glass case; they can look at it and remember it but they can’t access it, they can’t add anything more, they can’t nurture it back to life

MC smells like rot and roses whenever they walk by; their heart is too slow for a normal human beat. They hate the brothers for making them stay, hate themselves for not being what they remember or want. MC will never be rid of them; with the pacts tethering them together, their souls are entwined. Is that not enough? Why is nothing ever enough for these demons?

MC breaking down and asking them why, why didn’t you just let me die? Why didn’t you leave me dead?

They loved the brothers. Loved them enough to die, but why didn’t they love MC enough to let them go?

Hey Anon just a heads up that I’ve been listening to the song Funeral Derangements for the past like. 72 hours. So take my response with a side of that.

Sometimes, dead is better.

Souls are simply not meant to return. Lilith gave up her last bit of power to try and recover as much of MC as possible - there’s a reason we no longer hear her voice beyond that point.

Barbatos and Diavolo, for what it’s worth, did try. They tried to pull the same trick as Lilith - moving a soul from a vessel to another, a much less painful process than a true resurrection, but they had their own goals and an MC lacking memories just didn’t suit their needs. The exchange program had to go on, after all. What was one measly human soul when weighed against peace between the realms?

Perhaps it would’ve been okay, if MC had been able to return home after - to the human realm, to sunlight and blooming fields and the seasons changing and surrounded by life, human life. Returned to where they could remind themselves of their nature, where they could remember what it was to be human. Instead they are forced to remain in the Devildom for months, try to recall their humanity while helping those needy, needy brothers. They love MC, they say, some stuttering and shy, some bold and decisive, but do they? Belphegor, in particular, despite how he claims they don’t need to forgive him, how he doesn’t expect that of them, seems to have developed quite the entitlement to their time.

They are a dead human in the underworld and even with a heart that beats, with blood that flows, they cannot change that.

The brothers - they don’t understand. They simply aren’t human, they’re not mortal in the same way MC is. Perhaps Simeon and Solomon can sense something is wrong - Luke, too, but he is a child. All he can do is try to cheer them up, and in truth, he’s likely the only reason MC has any feelings at all.

The pacts tie them to the brothers now, all seven of them. To the Devildom. When they return to the human world the sunlight is too bright, the forest falls silent where they walk, dogs growl and bark and then whimper and run from them. Children recognise something off about them- adults, too, but they hide it better.

MC simply isn’t of the human realm anymore. They can never go home. Any family they have doesn’t even recognise them half the time - those closest to them, if MC knocked on their door, would greet them as a stranger until the recognition hit. Whispers follow them everywhere.

The Devildom is the only place they can exist in relative peace, now. They have been ruined for sunlight and birdsong in the morning and simple, human joy.

There can only be the seven brothers - and with the love they once felt locked away, hate begins to take its place.

"Don’t you look energetic," Arpina comments as Miraak enters their chambers, freshly washed up and looking like he's about to keel over from exhaustion. He makes it to the bed and drops onto it, knocking Arpina's book from her lap as the mattress sinks deeply on his side. “Oi.”

“Spare me,” he murmurs as presses his cheek into the pillow, lying stomach-down. “I am tired.”

“Color me surprised,” she says, and takes her book to set it on the nightstand. She turns on her side to run a hand through his hair, gently scrunching the dark, grey-streaked locks he had grown out over the last few months. It’s a charming look, she thinks, smiling. “Why are you so tired then? Tell me what you and the children got up to while I was away.”

“They are the cause of that,” he says, sounding grudgingly endeared. “Surely they spare you the roughhousing? I feel five thousand years old. Let’s see... Hroar and Sofie asked me to spin them around until none of us could walk straight. One. Then, Runa asked me to spar with her, and I, of course allowed her to win and she would not stop smashing that play-sword of hers on my shins. Two. Sissel set my coat on fire. Three. And Blaise and Lucia... nothing, actually. Blaise asked for them to stop talking so I could tell them stories. He was good. Lucia brought me a sweet roll after.”

Arpina can’t help but laugh. “Ma paour gwaz,” she says in an attempt to sober down.

“Very funny.”

“But it is,” she says, and does not stop laughing for the next minute. Finally, she wipes the tears from her eyes and shakes her head. “Goodness. Ma paour gwaz, bested by his children.”

“I was ganged up on,” he grumbles, but even he cannot help the slightest tilt of a smile. “Is it going to be like this for the next five years?”

“Seven to ten, actually.”

His eyes were on her face prior to her response to his question, but when he had said it, he could only shut his eyes and groan in response. “Seven years is a long time, dii yolos.”

“Big talk, coming from you,” Arpina responds, pressing her hand to his cheek and squishing it with an amused grin on her face. “Just wait. Maximum of ten years and they will be gone, forging their own paths in the world.”

“What? Gone?”

“Yes?” she asks in amusement. “What did you think young adults do when they are old enough to leave home?”

Miraak frowns, opens his mouth to answer, but no sound comes out, until he manages, “They can’t leave.”

“What, you’re gonna stand at the door and go ‘don’t you take another step through the door!’? They’ll just go for the windows. Believe me, I’ve tried.”

“They take after you,” Miraak says after giving her a scrutinizingly affectionate glare, and he turns his head to press his lips into her palm, taking her hand and kissing the inside of her wrist. 

“I wouldn’t have realized, you only say it five times a d—hey!”

Arpina’s fingers reach to pull on his ear as he bites her wrist, and he lets go, lambent green eyes flashing with amusement. “I could not resist.”

She rolls her eyes and leans over to kiss the smug smile from his face. “Will you ever resist?”

“That,” Miraak murmurs, brushing her hair back with a hand, nothing but fondness in his eyes, “is in the realm of impossibility.”

Arpina laughs, rolls her eyes, and kisses him on the mouth soundly.

i truly cannot remember why i had this idea at all but somehow i got the idea in my head that wouldn't it be fun if persephone was noah's older sister. maybe it's because in my head they have similar coloring, like. i truly cannot fucking remember how i got this idea. however i did instantly go full tilt into writing a fic about it and then remembered i had the timeline wrong (blue was like, a fully formed human person when noah died) and i had to scrap a line i really liked about calla and a pregnant maura picking up persephone hitchhiking on the side of the road and then i just got irritated with the timeline and left the doc and then promptly forgot all about it as soon as it left my field of vision because object permanence is not one of my special skills.

when noah vanishes, their mother falls apart. she doesn't leave the house for days at a time. the water in the glass on her bedside table evaporates into the air. vanishes into nothing, just like noah had.

when noah vanishes, their father punches a fist through the wall of his apartment and leaves without saying good-bye.

when noah vanishes, adele starts running.

she doesn't stop until she's a thousand miles away at a college persephone has never even heard of, and persephone can't blame her, not really.

when noah vanishes, persephone doesn't run. she doesn't look away.

instead, she puts down roots, sinking deep into the ground like a decaying log. she's twenty-eight when noah vanishes — he was born when she was eleven. it's a bit of a large gap for siblings, she knows, but ever since their mother brought him home and he wrapped his little chubby baby hands around her finger, persephone had adored him.

she willingly spent her friday nights with noah, watching him learn to crawl and then toddle and then walk and then run. she thought she could never love someone this much. 

she goes away to college when noah is seven and drops out before he turns eight. she can't bear it at home, not with their parents alternating between fighting and stony silence, and so she doesn't come home. instead, she hitchhikes across the country, writing letters and finding interesting postcards to send to noah the whole way, [more here].

she doesn't keep her last name — she married straight out of college, to an unlucky boy with an unluckier ending, and she finds herself a widower within a year thanks to a drunk driver and a late-night commute.

persephone isn't sure she loved him, but she thinks she never really had a chance.

later, she's glad she changed her name. she's glad the press don't know where to find her to ask her about her missing brother, if they think he ran away or someone took him or if he's buried seven feet deep, limbs encased in concrete like a grecian statue. she doesn't ask her cards where he's gone. she's not sure she can bear the answer, no matter what it is.

PLOT

Cheryl explains to the police that Jason wanted to leave Riverdale, so he asked Cheryl to help him stage an accident so their parents wouldn't go after him. He was supposed to call her after he left town, but she never heard from him again. Cheryl also says they heard a gunshot but didn't know what it was.

Betty asks her mother to stop writing clickbait articles about Jason's death. more on that later.

Archie finally tells the police he was at the river on July 4th, but says he was alone.

Betty wants to reboot the school newspaper and asks Jughead to join. Jughead acts like Betty is trying stifle his voice by checking his grammar and making sure he doesn't commit one of the seven deadly sins of journalism.

Veronica goes on a date with football player Chuck, who posts a photo of the two of them the next day claiming he gave her a "sticky maple". I don't want to know what that means and I'm kind of mad I ever had to hear the phrase. naturally this is an opportunity for more heavy handed feminist messaging.

Ms Grundy is back on her toxic groomer bullshit! nothing important just thought you should know that's still happening.

Cheryl gets the Pussycats to take Archie on as a student because she owes him a favor.

Veronica gets some honestly very funny hate comments, including one from the character Tony Topaz, who would not appear on the show for another season.

anyway it turns out what happened to Veronica is a fairly common occurrence for girls in Riverdale, and Betty wants to write an article about it. also apparently the football players have a playbook where they keep track of everyone they've hooked up with and how many points each girl was worth.

I hate this forced messaging but unfortunately it is important to the plot later on.

Jughead finds out that the gunshot came from the adventure scouts doing illegal target practice. also apparently the head adventure scout is preparing for the apocalypse??

the gang finds Betty's sister Polly in the playbook next to Jason's name.

the majority of the music segments from this episode come from the Pussycats/Josie, which is a nice change of pace because they all have beautiful voices and are genuinely very talented.

also, remember how the Pussycats have been wearing cat ears at school to "build their brand"? well apparently they forgot about that.

there's a really awkward covergirl product placement about halfway through the episode.

remember how I mentioned that Betty asked her mother to stop writing sensational clickbait articles abt Jason? Alice did not stop and gets punched in the face by Mrs Blossom at a party. it's what she deserves.

Alice also spends a good portion of this episode gossiping about 16 year olds. does she not have any other hobbies???

meanwhile, Betty has taken it upon herself to "punish" Chuck, which for some reason involves homemade dominatrix cosplay and a bad wig. reminder that this character is sixteen.

anyway she handcuffs him in a hot tub and tries to drown him a little bit. this is the beginning of "dark Betty", the alter ego Betty sometimes takes on. I'm getting a degree in psychology and I cannot explain this.

after the article about Chuck comes out and he's kicked off the football team, Cheryl and Betty set the playbook on fire. Cheryl says she's sorry for what Jason did to Polly.

the evil adventure scout tells Betty and Jughead that he saw Ms. Grundy's car at the river on July 4th.

notable character moments:

Betty keeps calling Jughead "Juggy", and now that I think about it that's only slightly worse than his actual name.

Archie yells "sorry I'm not perfect!" at his dad in one scene.

Veronica shoves Kevin into a locker for dramatic effect while giving a speech.

Jughead crouches in a restaurant booth like a gargoyle (or a bisexual). he's trying to look threatening and it does not work.

Josie tries to gatekeep the concept of music with Archie (and she's kind of right).

First Officer/Co-Pilot Axon - Black Swan - He/They

Axon's roughly 1 and a half years older than Cygnus. They're very lax about his job as co-pilot because, face it, Cygnus does most of the work if it's not auto pilot. Axon doesn't really care about "being presentable at work", if it weren't for company regulations they would show up to work with a hawaiian shirt, uncombed and untied hair. Axon is also a very light sleeper - he has admitted that he gets most of his sleep when auto pilot is on. Has his upmost respect for Cygnus' overall diligence and piloting skills knowing how young he is.

Second Officer/Flight Engineer Andreas - Black Heron - He/Him

Andreas is the oldest out of all of the Swan Air staff who unfortunately cannot pension early due to the work contract. He has served Swan Air ever since it was first established, being one of the captains himself. In his older age however, he decided to step down the ranks and become a flight engineer instead. Andreas isn't so keen about someone as young as Cygnus and Axon handling the aircraft, but if they're doing well so be it. Andreas is also Parasol's father, although they've cut ties long ago and he doesn't want to talk about them unless you force him to.

Flight Attendant Dee - Dunlin - She/Her

One of the younger flight attendants in the staff. Her recruitment was mostly recent so she still has a lot to learn about serving passengers on flight. She's mostly cheerful and friendly even when faced with stress. Dee formed a close platonic bond with Maggie, her senior crewmate, and actually shares an apartment room with her. Dee is also close to most other Swan Air staff, including Cygnus and Axon. She's often offered to come along to drink after work, but she would always refuse.

Flight Attendant Maggie - Yellow Canary - She/Her

A more experienced flight attendant within the Swan Air staff. Maggie isn't the type to talk too much unless prompted so mostly handles the in flight safety procedures and assist passengers with their baggage. Maggie has seen the goods and the downright shits of the company, but decided not to do much about it because this was her only job. Maggie cares for Dee off schedule and teaches the young bird several life skills. Maggie gets along well with the rest of her aircrew but very much despises her boss, Seven. She would often be name-called by "Mango" by him and it irks her a lot.

Swan Air CEO Seven - Trumpeter Swan - He/Him

The current big bad boss of Swan Air, successor to his late father who was the founder of the company. Nobody in Swan Air really likes him one bit, which is not a surprise considering his awful leadership and work ethics. Seven forces strict regulations on his workers while pretty much excluding himself from any and all of the rules. How he evaded law and whatever remains a mystery to all the staff. He was actually once the company's best pilots in his younger age...wonder what happened. He's just a pure dick right now.

Cooper Silberg - Whooper Swan - He/Him

Cooper is Cygnus' older and more successful brother working in the business sector. Cygnus never mentions Cooper to anyone ever since he part ways with his family to live for himself so not many people even know he has a brother. Cooper, on the other hand, constantly badmouths Cygnus behind his back to flaunt how he's the better brother of the Silberg family. Cygnus tries his best to not hate him, but he always ends up being a nuisance if they ever meet. Cooper often bullies and taunts Cygnus by "offering" cash and credit what nots - but Cygnus never budged. Their relationship remains extremely distant to this day.

okay i cannot remember if there's been any discussion at any point as to what cam and donna's love languages are and how they express them to each other, cause i'm lyin in my bed thinking abt that and feel like i need ur thoughts okay thank u and goodnight

Okay, so, to answer this question, I actually looked into that book on the ‘five love languages,’ but i found that paradigm lacking, so I will not be referencing it here today! 

[CN: SPOILERS for seasons 3 and 4 of Halt and Catch Fire]

I think that one way of looking at it is that Cameron’s love language is trying to be ‘better’, specifically, trying to be less nitpicky/‘overly’ sensitive/withdrawn, and trying to not be that weird kid who embarrasses her adults. I also think that she and Donna both bicker, fight, and separate and also later reunite because Donna’s love language is pushing people to be better, though not necessarily in terms of being ‘less weird’ (I have the feeling Donna kinda loves ‘weird’), maybe more in terms of being a more present and less scared partner. They struggle at first because early on, Cameron is really preoccupied with her loneliness, and seems to really believe that she’ll always have to fake being an adult who fits in somewhere because she never actually will be that, and likewise, Donna is already resigned to always being the more competent partner to someone who doesn’t really care about rising to her level. 

But by the end of the series, Donna has learned to be okay with not having a partner (one of my favorite things about her is that she never felt like she ‘needed’ a partner, she just insisted on having one because she knew she deserved one?), and Cameron has learned how to stop doing things that don’t work, and is trying to figure out how to do things differently. Donna has let go of Mutiny and Cameron, to the extent that she can, and also completely changed things at AGGEK, and now has a dream job at Symphonic, and she’s focused on work and parenting. Meanwhile, Cameron has left relationships with a partner who didn’t respect and who berated her ‘childishness’/sensitivity/inconvenient feelings, and with a different partner who coveted her ‘weirdness’ (even when he didn’t mean to) and who also went back and forth between wanting her (and/or her stuff) around but also not, and who ultimately didn’t want the same things out of life. 

I like to think that Cameron eventually learns via life with Donna, Haley, and Joanie to be her best self not because there’s something wrong with her, but because providing and being present for your loved ones feels good. I imagine her learning to feel a little less self-conscious and to enjoy and be okay with just trying, with just showing up, for things that generally stress her out like holidays and vacations and work parties. She learns to accept Donna and the girls’ delight in and appreciation of her, and to believe that they really are just happy that she’s there. I also like to think that this is largely because Donna learns how to gently encourage and thank Cameron. Donna probably never stops reminding Cameron to reapply her sunscreen and drink more water and get up and stretch and not stay up too late, but she also learns to encourage Cameron to try things and also to talk to her, not because she needs to carry or compensate for other peoples’ baggage, but because again, telling people that you appreciate and care about them feels good. Donna learns to make a point of asking Cameron what she’s up to and how she’s feeling, and offering a heartfelt, ‘good job!’ or ‘that’s alright’ or ‘thanks for doing that,’ or ‘what can I do to help?’ She doesn’t feel alone when Cameron struggles, not the way that she used to when Gordon would get frustrated and pull away from her. 

I semi-joked a few weeks ago in my tags that one of Cameron and Donna’s love languages is that they never stop apologizing to each other for what happened with Mutiny, and the seven-ish years that they didn’t talk to each other. It’s like they go from aggressively blaming each other to aggressively taking responsibility for their part in it? Like, probably to the point of comedy, I can see them cracking each other up over how regularly they ~process~ their fight from over a decade ago. But I feel like they would talk about it because it’s part of their history, and a thing that they both genuinely regret. It’s not something they want to do again, they don’t ever wanna go back to not being able to communicate, show up, and appreciate each other even when they’re arguing. To that end, they balance out their regular if infrequent ’I’ll never stop being sorry for how I failed you that day!’s with a lot of ‘I’m so happy we decided to try working together again’s.

oh omg sick okay so!! i might just end up rambling bc i have so many scattered thoughts in my head abt the sweet flips kids omfg

(quick little notes: johann and noelle are my OCs for carey and killian’s kids, named after bard johann and no3113. johann is a dragonborn and noelle is an orc. i’ve put too much thought into really random details about them.)

johann’s classes: wizard and rogue

noelle’s classes: druid and fighter

(in a family so greatly consisting of magic users, no one can convince me that a bunch of them don’t jump at teaching the kiddos magic)

i haven’t thought of legit quests for them yet (but give me some time, omfg, i’ll probably end up with an entire AU just dedicated to them doing cool shit) but i’ve thought about who would train them in their classes!!!

angus is who initially teaches johann magic, just like how taako taught angus. johann was probably super young when he started learning magic. was it ever said how young someone can be and still learn magic?? bc i put him at, like, seven or eight when angus starts teaching johann really simple cantrips, like mage hand. it’s only as he gets a little older (like probably 14/15) that he starts learning illusion magic (bc he looks up to davenport a lot and, as a shy little kid, davenport was the first person, besides his moms, who he got very attached to)

by the time he’s, like, 18, he’s “come get y’alls juice”-ing noelle

also, just through sheer observation, he starts learning rogue shit from carey. and i’m talking that, like, when he’s four, he’s just taking shit. he doesn’t even know exactly what he’s doing, his brain is just like “seeing mom prank friends by taking stuff = something fun to do”

carey is lowkey horrified (in, like, kinda a fun way tho) and killian just thinks that it’s hysterical bc “babe he’s just like you” and carey’s like “killian i’ve been arrested for pickpocketing and other rogue shit before, he cannot be just like me”

(johann was once jailed for an afternoon tho and they did, in fact, have to pick him up/bail him out from that)

noelle, on the other hand, actually learned some of her magic from barry!!! not anything necromantic in nature, but just, once again, simple cantrips. she was just super attached to barry (i mean, she was a very social charming kid, so she was attached to everyone, but barry was special). however, by default, she also started learning some stuff from lup, too. she decided to specialize as a druid, tho, and, with that, she probably learns some stuff from merle, too!!!

and then magnus teaches her how to fight/protect herself!! first, he just teaches her how to use a shield to defend herself, and then he works up to a sword and shield, but suddenly, one day, she’s wielding a giant fucking battle-axe and magnus is delighted

carey and killian, initially, feel kinda bad that they can’t help their kids with their magic. bc they want to help their kids out with everything!!! and they can see how frustrated they get when they’re trying to practice spells but none of the magic users are around so they just have to work everything out by themselves. but carey and killian also find it, honestly, really fun to see their kids learning new things.

they’re also low key terrified bc, even though johann specialized in illusion magic and noelle is a druid, somehow johann knows how to cast perfect fireballs and noelle knows just a bit too much abt necromancy stuff (sorry kravitz)

(honestly tho, between merle & lucretia & dav & lup & barry & taako, you can see all types of magic influence on the sweet flips kids) (and other’s, too, like how johann knows how to pick locks and, after being babysat by avi enough, noelle seems to have pretty good aim with projectiles, etc etc etc)

johann goes to taako’s school and noelle goes to lucas’s school. and, see, taakos fawns over the both of them (even tho he swears he’s not a fan of kids even tho he and kravitz have basically adopted angus already), but he (jokingly) gives noelle shit for not going to his school and absolutely praises johann for “making the right academic choice” but you know that, during family get togethers, taako is helping both of them out with school work and making sure that lucas is going easy on noelle

i think both carey and killian are pretty cool moms!!! but, actually, i think at first, like when johann was still in an egg, carey was... incredibly nervous. i hc that she didn’t really have much of a family life. like, she had her parents and her brother, scales, and they lived in neverwinter together, but it was kinda like “parents that had kids but let their kids do whatever they want from the time they were little.” so, like, carey was out on her own for most days, wreaking whatever havoc and doing whatever she wanted, and sometimes she would come home to sleep and sometimes she wouldn’t, so she was super scared that she wouldn’t be a good mom. killian, on the other hand, i hc is a huge family person and the oldest of a bunch of sisters, which kinda made carey even more nervous bc “oh god what if killian is so good at this and she regrets having kids with me and and and” but killian helps her out and shows her that she can give their kids and better upbringing than she had and, together, they work together and are really good moms!!!

they joke that killian is “bad cop” and carey is “good cop” but they’re both huge softies for their kids but also know when discipline is necessary (but, like, calm discipline. they don’t believe in yelling at kids). i do think that they have their Things, you know. like killian is protective in the way that she doesn’t want anyone to hurt her kids, so she’s the “intimidating” parent when her kids start bringing dates home (but she softens up quickly). and carey gets really nervous when the kids are out for a while, so she at least likes to keep tabs like “hey just make sure to come home and let us know what’s going on.” but, overall, i think they’re both really chill moms and they have a super nice, super trusting relationship with their kids. and even when the kids start growing up and going off on their own, they always stop back and visit!!!
