You and Dean hadn’t talked much since the events on the plane. In fact, the two of you barely looked at each other anymore. Not out of disgust, your stomach just fluttered every time you caught a glimpse of him for reasons you couldn’t explain. You didn’t exactly like him, but you definitely didn’t hate him, either. In fact, your most recent journal drawing had been of your hand wrapped in Dean’s. You smiled at the memory.
Sam slept in the front seat while Dean drove the three of you to Toledo, Ohio. You had actually been the one to find this case. Steven Shoemaker’s eyes had bled when he died. According to his obituary, his death had been swift. He was much too young to have had a stroke or an aneurysm, and seemed to be in good health. Therefore, you concluded this was your kind of gig.
Sam began to stir, catching your attention. You straightened in your seat as the Impala came to a halt in front of a large hospital complex. Sam’s stirring and whimpering was getting worse by the second.
Dean shook his brother. “Sam, wake up.”
He bolted straight up, confused, taking both you and Dean by surprise. After taking a second to catch his breath, he said, “I take it I was having a nightmare.”
“Yeah, another one,” Dean reminded him.
“Hey, at least I got some sleep.” Sam’s faux optimism caused you to shake your head.
“You know, sooner or later we're gonna have to talk about this.”
Apparently, Sam was choosing the latter. “Are we here?” he asked.
Dean was happy to drop the subject, too. “Yup. Welcome to Toledo, Ohio.”
The three of you began to approach the morgue wing of the hospital. You noticed Sam was holding the newspaper you’d circled Mr. Shoemaker’s death in. “So what do you think really happened to this guy?”
“That's what we're gonna find out. Ladies first,” you joked, holding the door to the first floor of the hospital open for the brothers.
After making your way through the labyrinth of hallways, you found the dimly lit and vacated morgue. In the large room were two desks. One was labeled with a nameplate for Dr. D. Feiklowicz with neatly stacked packets, files, and books atop it. The other was a chaotic mess of stray papers labeled “Morgue Technician.”
“Can I help you?” he asked.
“Yeah. We're the, uh, med students,” Dean responded.
“Sorry?” the morgue tech asked.
“Oh, Doctor—” Dean gave his best shot at the name, “—Figlavitch didn't tell you? We talked to him on the phone. He— uh, we're from Ohio State. He's supposed to show us the Shoemaker corpse. It's for our paper.”
“Well, I'm sorry, he's at lunch.” The morgue tech was smug, snarky, and clearly lacked people skills.
‘No wonder they have him locked up down here,’ you thought.
Dean changed course. “Oh, well, he said, uh— oh, well, you know, it doesn't matter. You don't mind just showing us the body, do you?”
“Sorry, I can't.” The morgue tech gave a tight-lipped smile. “Doc will be back in an hour. You can wait for him if you want.”
“An hour? Ooh. We gotta be heading back to Columbus by then,” Dean tried. “Uh, look, man, this paper's like half our grade, so if you don't mind helping us out—”
“Uh, look, man,” the technician mocked, “No.”
Dean laughed a little and turned around, mumbling. “I'm gonna hit him in his face I swear.”
You took the opportunity to try a different tactic. You leaned down on the morgue technician’s desk, doing your best to take advantage of the fact that he probably has had little contact with women. “Please?” you asked innocently. “These guys are my tutors. I’m really struggling in this class, and I just—” you bit your lip, “—I really need a good grade on this paper.” You used your arms to push your breasts together. “Please?”
You could tell you had him on the ropes. “Uh…” He couldn’t tear his eyes away from your cleavage. He cleared his throat. “I, uh, I guess I could do that for you.”
You smiled innocently. “Thank you so much.”
He began leading the three of you into an attached room to where the bodies were stored for autopsies. You turned around and winked at the boys with a smug smile. Dean rolled his eyes.
The morgue technician pulled the rack Steven Shoemaker’s corpse rested on out from the wall of stainless steel cells.
“Now the newspaper said his daughter found him. She said his eyes were bleeding,” Sam said.
The technician pulled the sheet back from over Steven’s face. “More than that. They practically liquefied.” The poor man’s eye sockets were still bloody, and they hadn’t yet been sewn shut. You could see the dried blood peeking out from under his partially-closed eyes.
“Any sign of a struggle? Maybe somebody did it to him?” Dean suggested.
“Nope. Besides the daughter, he was all alone,” the technician answered.
“What's the official cause of death?” Sam asked.
“Ah, Doc's not sure. He's thinking massive stroke, maybe an aneurysm? Something burst up in there, that's for sure.”
‘Nope, he’s way too young and in much too good health for that to have been the cause,’ you thought, but kept the thought at bay.
“What do you mean?” you asked. You didn’t like playing dumb, but with this guy, it was necessary.
“Intense cerebral bleeding. This guy had more blood in his skull than anyone I've ever seen,” the tech answered. Although, he was more responding to your boobs than to your face. You fought the urge to snap in front of his face and get his eyes back on target.
“The eyes?” Sam asked. “What would cause something like that?”
“Capillaries can burst. See a lot of bloodshot eyes with stroke victims,” the morgue tech shrugged.
Dean’s tone was still aggravated with the guy. “Yeah? You ever see exploding eyeballs?”
“That's a first for me, but hey, I'm not the doctor.”
“Hey, think we could take a look at that police report? You know for, uh...our paper.”
“I'm not really supposed to show you that.” The technician looked back at you.
You suppressed the bile rising in your throat. Before you could do anything else, Dean stepped in front of you and pulled out his wallet. He shoved two twenties at him, hoping that would be enough. You could see the technician deflate, but accepted the money anyway.
Dean’s actions puzzled you. But you would be lying if you said your heart didn’t flutter at the thought of him doing it out of protectiveness of you.
When you had finished looking over the police report, the three of you began making your way out of the building.
“Might not be one of ours. Might just be some freak medical thing,” Sam suggested after having seen the report.
“How many times in Dad's long and varied career has it actually been a freak medical thing and not some sign of an awful supernatural death?” Dean replied.
“Uh, almost never.”
“Exactly.”
“Alright, let's go talk to the daughter.” Sam started picking up his pace out of the building. You were happy to see him getting his mind off Jessica and back into the job.
“Wait, Dean.” You grabbed his arm lightly before he could catch up to his brother.
He turned to face you.
“Why’d you do that?” you asked.
“Do what?” He furrowed his brow.
“Give the morgue tech your hard-earned poker money,” you half-smiled.
“I just didn’t wanna watch you prostitute yourself for information,” he replied gruffly, turning away from you.
You took offense. “Hey, I was not—”
He turned back to you and brushed a hand over his hair. “You’re right, you werent.” He paused again, and his voice came back quiet. “I just didn’t like the way he was looking at you, ‘s all.”
Your heart swelled in your chest and your cheeks began to heat up. “Thanks, by the way,” you said as you continued walking. You nudged his shoulder with yours. “You’re going soft on me, Winchester.”
***
When you arrived at the Shoemaker house, you hadn’t expected to be in the midst of the funeral gathering. If you did, you wouldve dressed more appropriately. Given this fact, you felt slightly awkward when you knocked on the door. A man let you in and pointed you toward the backyard and the two daughters of Steven Shoemaker.
The two sisters were sitting with two blonde girls near the firepit. Dean addressed the older, dark-haired girl. “You must be Donna, right?”
“Yeah,” the girl responded.
“Hi, uh, we're really sorry,” Sam lamented.
“Thank you.”
“I'm Sam, this is Dean and (Y/N). We worked with your dad.”
The girl looked at her friend before looking back at your trio. “You did?” She seemed surprised.
“Yeah. This whole thing. I mean, a stroke…” Sam trailed off.
“I don't think she really wants to talk about this right now,” one of Donna’s pretty blonde friends spoke up.
“It's okay. I'm okay,” she assured her friend.
“Were there any symptoms? Dizziness? Migraines?” Dean asked.
Donna shook her head. “No.”
The younger sister, who looked to be about twelve, turned around. “That's because it wasn't a stroke.”
You were intrigued.
“Lily, don't say that,” her sister urged her.
“What do you mean?” you asked the young girl.
“I'm sorry, she's just upset,” her sister responded for her.
“No,” Lily wasn’t having it. “It happened because of me.”
Donna placed a hand on her shoulder. “Sweetie, it didn't.”
You got down on Lily’s eye level. “Why would you say that?”
“Right before he died, I said it,” she said softly.
“Said what?”
She lowered her voice even more. “Bloody Mary, three times in the bathroom mirror. She took his eyes, that's what she does.”
Donna interrupted. “That's not why Dad died. This isn't your fault.”
“I think your sister's right, Lily,” Dean broke in. “There's no way it could have been Bloody Mary. Your dad didn't say it, did he?”
Lily tried to take this in. She shook her head.
“Exactly,” you told her. “I’m sorry, we weren’t trying to upset you. We’ll just be leaving.” You pulled the boys away from Donna’s group and went back into the house. Making sure no one saw you three, you crept upstairs to the bathroom where Mr. Shoemaker passed away.
Sam pushed the door open, and you noticed some dried blood still on the floor. “The Bloody Mary legend. Dad ever find any evidence that it was a real thing?”
“Not that I know of,” Dean replied. He walked ahead of Sam into the bathroom.
Sam stooped to the floor and touched the dried blood. “I mean, everywhere else all over the country, kids will play Bloody Mary, and as far as we know, nobody dies from it.”
“Yeah, but maybe it’s fine everywhere else, but not here,” you suggested.
“The place where the legend began?” Sam tried.
You shrugged as Dean opened the medicine cabinet.
“But according to the legend, the person who says B—” you stopped yourself and noticed your reflection in the medicine cabinet’s mirror. “You know what is the one that dies. But here—”
“Shoemaker gets it instead, yeah,” Dean finished for you.
Sam rose from the floor. “Right.”
“Never heard anything like that before. Still, the guy did die right in front of the mirror, and the daughter's right. The way the legend goes, you-know-who scratches your eyes out.”
You considered Dean’s words for a moment. “It's worth checking in to.” You went to leave the bathroom when you noticed one of Donna’s pretty blonde friends approaching you.
“What are you doing up here?” she asked.
“We— We had to go to the bathroom,” you answered, not believing yourself.
“Who are you?” the girl pressed further.
Dean stepped closer to you from behind. “Like we said downstairs, we worked with Donna's dad.”
She shook her head with scrunched eyebrows. “He was a day trader or something. He worked by himself.”
“No, I know, I meant—”
She cut Dean off. “And all those weird questions downstairs, what was that? So you tell me what's going on, or I start screaming.”
Sam put a hand up to calm her. “Alright, alright, we think something happened to Donna's dad.”
The blonde looked at you three like you were stupid. “Yeah, a stroke.”
“I don’t think so,” you argued. “He was pretty young to be having a stroke. His eyes wouldn’t have liquified if he’d had a stroke. I think it might be something else.”
She scoffed and crossed her arms. “Like what?’
“Honestly? We don't know yet. But we don't want it to happen to anyone else. That's the truth,” Sam responded.
“So, if you're gonna scream, go right ahead,” Dean snarked.
“Who are you, cops?” she asked, her brows still furrowed.
“Something like that,” you shrugged.
“I'll tell you what. Here.” Sam took a piece of paper and a pen out of his jacket pocket and wrote his phone number down. “If you think of anything, you or your friends notice anything strange, out of the ordinary, just give us a call.” He handed her the piece of paper before leading you and Dean down the hallway.
Your next stop was the public library.
“Alright, say Bloody Mary really is haunting this town,” Dean began. “There's gonna be some sort of proof— Like a local woman who died nasty.”
“Yeah, but this is hard. The legend is unbelievably widespread with hundreds of different versions of who she actually is,” you rebutted. “One story says she's a witch, another says she's a mutilated bride, there's a lot more.”
“Okay, then, so what are we supposed to be looking for?” Dean asked you.
Sam answered. “Every version's got a few things in common. It's always a woman named Mary, and she always dies right in front of a mirror. So we've gotta search local newspapers, public records as far back as they go. See if we can find a Mary who fits the bill.”
“Well, that sounds annoying,” the older brother commented.
“No, it won't be so bad,” Sam replied, “As long as we…”
You cleared your throat, gesturing to the only two computers in the library that had “Out of Order” signs on them.
Sam chuckled humorlessly. “I take it back. This will be very annoying.”
The three of you picked up boxes of the town’s newspapers and numerous books of Toledo’s public records and brought them back to Sam and Dean’s motel room.
You were beginning to go cross-eyed after reading for so long. Minutes turned into hours. Dean was sitting in a chair, you were sprawled across the floor with papers and books scattered around you, and Sam eventually fell asleep.
You stood up to stretch your legs and noticed his closed eyes. “Poor fella,” you said quietly. “How’s he been sleeping?”
“How d’you think?” Dean responded, eyes never leaving his book.
You nodded. “That’s what I was afraid of.”
“Maybe we should get him to take something,” you suggested.
Dean chuckled. “He won’t do it.”
“Is it just because I’m suggesting it that you’re saying that, or do you really think he won’t take it?” you countered.
He gave you a deadpan expression.
“You Winchesters are just about the most stubborn people I’ve ever met in my life. Including your dad,” you jested. You heard Dean chuckle a little, too.
“And I wanted to tell you,” you started, “I understand why you’d suspect me in your dad’s disappearance.”
He looked away from his book and over at you. “What do you mean?”
“What you said back in Colorado? The Wendigo case? I get it.”
Dean raised an eyebrow. “You’re still on that?”
“I mean, yeah, that was just about the most heated fight we’ve had. It kinda stuck with me,” you answered honestly, looking down at your stripey-sock-covered feet. “Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I understand.”
A moment passed silently.
“And I, um—” you took a deep breath, “I want you to trust me.” You looked back at Dean who was studying you carefully.
The tense moment was interrupted by Sam jolting awake in his bed. “Why'd you let me fall asleep?”
“Cause I'm an awesome brother.” Dean’s attention was back on his book. “So what did you dream about?”
“Lollipops and candy canes,” the younger brother responded hazily while staring up at the ceiling.
You laughed humorlessly.
“Did you guys find anything?” Sam asked.
“Oh, besides a whole new level of frustration?” Dean responded sarcastically. “No. I've looked at everything. A few local women, a Laura and a Catherine committed suicide in front of a mirror—”
“And a giant mirror fell on a guy named Dave—” you chimed in.
“But no Mary,” Dean finished for you.
“Maybe we just haven't found it yet,” Sam tried.
“I've also been searching for strange deaths in the area, you know… eyeball bleeding, that sort of thing. There's nothing. Whatever's happening here, maybe it just ain't Mary,” Dean said.
Sam’s phone rang just as his brother finished talking. “Hello?” A look of concern crossed his face. He was trying to calm whoever it was on the other end down.
You waited until he got off the phone to bombard him with questions. “What? What happened?”
“Charlie,” he told you. “Her friend’s dead.”
***
Charlie sobbed as she relayed the story of what happened to her friend Jill. “And they found her on the bathroom floor. And her— her eyes. They were gone.”
You had met her in a park not an hour after she had called Sam.
“I'm sorry,” the latter responded.
“And she said it,” Charlie told you. “I heard her say it. But it couldn't be because of that. I'm insane, right?”
“No, you're not insane,” you said.
“Oh, god, that makes me feel so much worse.” You feared that might be the case.
Sam was honest with her. “Look. We think something's happening here. Something that can't be explained.”
“And we're gonna stop it,” Dean assured Charlie, “but we could use your help.”
You knew exactly where Dean was going with this. And thankfully, Charlie obliged. She snuck you and the boys into Jill’s room through the window. Dean and Sam gave you a boost into the second story room before throwing up Dean’s duffel bag.
“What did you tell Jill's mom?” you asked Charlie.
“Just that I needed some time alone with Jill's pictures and things,” she replied simply. “I hate lying to her.”
You heard someone closing the blinds and curtains behind you. “Trust us, this is for the greater good. Hit the lights,” Dean instructed her.
She obeyed but asked, “What are you guys looking for?”
“We'll let you know as soon as we find it,” the older brother responded.
Sam handed you a digital camera. “Hey, night vision!” You turned it on. You aimed the camera at Dean.
“Do I look like Paris Hilton?” he asked.
You rolled your eyes, suppressing an amused smile. You walked over to Jill’s closet door and began filming the mirror on it.
“So I don't get it,” Sam began. “I mean, the first victim didn't summon Mary, and the second victim did. How's she choosing them?”
You shrugged.
“Beats me,” Dean answered. “I want to know why Jill said it in the first place.”
“It was just a joke,” Charlie replied.
“Yeah, well somebody's gonna say it again, it's just a matter of time.”
You had made your way over to the bathroom and filmed around the mirror. You stopped when you noticed a trickle of something running from behind it. “Hey, Sam?”
“Yeah?” He came over to you.
“Look at this.” You showed him the substance oozing from behind the mirror.
Sam looked to his brother. “There's a black light in the trunk, right?”
While Dean left to get the light, you and Sam pulled the mirror off the wall. When Dean returned, you could see a handprint and the name “Gary Bryman” illuminated by the black light.
“Gary Bryman?” Charlie asked.
You looked up at her. “You know who that is?”
She shook her head. “No.”
You learned from Sam’s research and Charlie that Jill had killed Gary Bryman, an eight-year-old boy, in a hit and run accident. Dean then decided you needed to return to Donna’s house. When you pulled the medicine cabinet mirror off the wall, sure enough, there was another handprint and the name “Linda Shoemaker.” You learned from Donna that her mother had overdosed on sleeping pills. You had left Charlie at Donna’s house to comfort her friend after you and the boys had upset her with your questions about her mother’s death.
You then traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana to investigate the death of a woman named Mary Worthington. She had died the same way these victims were; bleeding from the sockets where her eyes used to be. You spoke to the detective who was the lead on her case. He believed she spent her last moments trying to expose her killer she was having an affair with. She went as far as to start spelling out the name of her killer in her own blood on the back of her mirror. She only got to the third letter of her killer’s name before passing away. It made complete sense to you that her spirit would spend its time exposing the secrets of other murderers. Mary Worthington’s body had been cremated, but the mirror she wrote on had been returned to her family. Now, you and the boys were trying to track down where that mirror had ended up.
“Oh really?” Sam responded to the man on the phone. “Ah, that's too bad Mr. Worthington. I would have paid a lot for that mirror… Okay, well maybe next time… Alright, thanks.” He hung up.
“So?” you asked.
“So that was Mary's brother,” he informed you. “The mirror was in the family for years, until he sold it one week ago to a store called Estate Antiques. A store in Toledo.”
Dean momentarily looked away from the road to his brother. “So wherever the mirror goes, that's where Mary goes?”
“Her spirit's definitely tied up with it somehow,” Sam responded.
“Isn't there an old superstition that says mirrors can capture spirits?” you chimed in.
“Yeah, there is. Yeah, when someone would die in a house people would cover up the mirrors so the ghost wouldn't get trapped.”
Dean connected the dots. “So Mary dies in front of a mirror, and it draws in her spirit.”
“Yeah, but how could she move through like a hundred different mirrors?” you challenged.
“I don't know, but if the mirror is the source, I say we find it and smash it.”
“Yeah, I don't know, maybe,” Sam sighed. His phone rang. “Hello?... Charlie?”
***
You and the boys picked up Charlie and brought her to the motel you were staying in. You and the Winchesters were busying yourselves with covering every reflective surface in Sam and Dean’s room with sheets, blankets, jackets; anything. Charlie’s gorgeous blonde hair was knotted and messy, her eyes were puffy from crying but remained closed, and her knees were drawn into her chest.
Sam sat on the bed next to Charlie. “Hey, hey, it's ok. Hey, you can open up your eyes Charlie. It's okay, alright?”
She looked up slowly.
“Now listen,” he began softly. “You're gonna stay right here on this bed, and you're not gonna look at glass, or anything else that has a reflection, okay? And as long as you do that, she cannot get you.”
“But I can't keep that up forever. I'm gonna die, aren't I?” Charlie’s voice trembled.
“No. No. Not anytime soon,” the brunet assured her.
You sat on the floor in front of her and put a hand on her knee. “We need to know what happened, babe.”
“We were in the bathroom.” Her eyes brimmed with tears again. “Donna said it.”
“That's not what we're talking about,” Dean stated. There was something dark behind his tone. “Something happened, didn't it? In your life— .a secret— where someone got hurt. Can you tell us about it?”
The tears were flowing from her eyes now. “I had this boyfriend. I loved him. But he kind of scared me too, you know? And one night, at his house, we got in this fight. Then I broke up with him, and he got upset, and he said he needed me and he loved me, and he said "Charlie, if you walk out that door right now, I'm gonna kill myself." And you know what I said? I said "Go ahead." And I left. How could I say that? How could I leave him like that? I just...I didn't believe him, you know? I should have.” She pulled her knees back to her chest and buried her face between them.
You felt completely horrible for her. But there was no time for a therapy session because you and the boys were off to that Toledo antique store where Mary’s mirror was being kept.
Dean sped down the road despite the pouring rain which you deeply wanted to protest against. You remained silent anyway.
“You know, her boyfriend killing himself, that's not really Charlie's fault.” Dean broke the silence.
“You know spirits don't exactly see shades of gray, Dean. Charlie had a secret, somebody died, and that's good enough for Mary,” you told him.
“I guess,” he shrugged.
“You know, I've been thinking. It might not be enough to just smash that mirror,” Sam chimed in.
Dean turned his head to his brother. “Why, what do you mean?”
“Well, Mary's hard to pin down, right? I mean she moves around from mirror to mirror, so who's to say that she's not just gonna keep hiding in them forever? So maybe we should try to pin her down, you know, summon her to her mirror and then smash it.”
“Well, how do you know that's going to work?” Dean asked.
Sam shook his head. “I don't; not for sure.”
“Well who's gonna summon her?” his brother’s tone got a little panicked.
“I will. She'll come after me,” Sam replied solemnly.
“You know what, that's it.” Dean pulled over to the side of the road. “This is about Jessica, isn't it? You think that's your dirty little secret that you killed her somehow? Sam, this has got to stop, man. I mean, the nightmares and calling her name out in the middle of the night— it's gonna kill you. Now, listen to me, it wasn't your fault. If you wanna blame something, then blame the thing that killed her. Or hell, why don't you take a swing at me? I mean I'm the one that dragged you away from her in the first place.”
“I don't blame you.” Sam’s voice cracked.
“Well, you shouldn't blame yourself, because there's nothing you could've done,” Dean responded sharply.
Sam tried to shake his emotion away. “I could've warned her.”
“About what? You didn't know what was gonna happen! And besides, all of this isn't a secret, I mean I know all about it. It's not gonna work with Mary anyway,” Dean said.
“No you don't,” was all Sam could muster.
“I don't what?”
“You don't know all about it. I haven't told you everything.”
You had been trying to stay out of it, but couldn’t hold it back anymore. “What are you talking about?”
“Well, it wouldn't really be a secret if I told you, would it?”
You and Dean were taken aback. “No. I don't like it. It's not gonna happen, forget it.”
“Guys, that girl back there is going to die unless we do something about it. And you know what? Who knows how many more people are gonna die after that? Now we're doing this. You've got to let me do this.”
Dean gripped the steering wheel, clenched his jaw, and pulled back out onto the road. The air was heavy and tense in the car. You sat back in your chair with your arms crossed over your chest. No one spoke for the rest of the drive.
When you reached the shop, you picked the lock on the door to reveal dozens of mirrors.
“Well, that's just great,” Dean grumbled. He pulled out the picture you’d gotten from the detective in Indiana of Mary’s body next to the mirror. “Alright, let's start looking.”
The three of you split up. You were an incredibly detail-oriented person, but even still, all of the mirrors seemed the same to you.
“Maybe they've already sold it,” Dean called from across the room.
Your flashlight came to rest on a mirror you could swear you’d seen before. “I don't think so. C’mere, Dean.”
He came over to you and held up the photo to the mirror. And sure enough, it was a match.
“You sure about this?” Dean asked his brother.
Sam nodded and handed you his flashlight. Taking a deep breath, he says, “Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary.”
You whipped your head in the direction of a light coming through the store.
“I'll go check that out. Stay here, be careful,” Dean ordered. “Smash anything that moves.” He crawled away from you and you heard him distantly say, “Crap.”
You paid no mind to Dean as you tightened your grip on the crowbar.
You heard a whooshing sound behind you and wheeled around. In the mirror was Mary. You sprang to action and smashed your crowbar through the dead center of it.
You could hear a distorted version of Sam’s voice coming from behind you, but before you could aid him, your own reflection caught your attention. It wasn’t quite syncing with your movements; instead looking at you menacingly.
Before you could move to hit it, you felt an insane pressure coming from behind your eyes, your throat constricted, and blood began to ooze down your face.
“You can’t keep running, (Y/N),” your reflection told you. “How could you? How could you be so careless?”
The blood dripping from your eyes began to mix with your tears. You didn’t have enough breath to protest. You began to sink to the floor, the crowbar clanging to the ground.
“It’s your fault that they’re gone. Why didn’t you try harder? Why didn’t you fight to keep them alive? Why did you have to kill them? Your guilt should eat you alive. You don’t deserve another family. You know you don’t deserve to be happy again. You know your recklessness will get these boys killed, too. You are so selfish! And your brother! If you hadn’t done what you did, he would still be alive, too. You are worthless. All you bring is death and—”
The pressure around your throat released when Dean’s crowbar went through the mirror. He barely spared you a second look before going over to his brother.
“Sam, Sammy!” you heard from behind you.
You clutched at your throat and began to cry. You knew Dean had turned cold once more because he heard what your reflection said.
Sam groaned in pain as you saw Dean shouldering his brother and pulling him toward the exit of the shop.
“C’mon, (Y/N),” Sam urged you.
You shakily stood and did your best to follow the brothers out. Your dizziness caused you to fall back down to the ground on top of shards of glass, making you yelp as they pierced your hands.
“Help her, Dean!” you heard Sam demand.
Dean came to your side, clearly in no hurry, and cradled you in his arms. Before he could get anymore than two steps, you noticed Mary crawling out of the frame of her original mirror. Her dark hair was matted and fell in front of her face. Her dress was tattered, and her limbs moved in an inhuman manner; cracking with every movement. You and Dean were sent flying across the floor toward Sam, and the bleeding of your eyes started again.
You looked to the mirror inches from your head. Despite your weakness, you forced yourself to grab it and turn its face toward Mary.
“You killed them!” you heard her reflection cry. “All those people! You killed them!” Mary started choking just as you had and then melted into a pool of blood on the ground. You threw the mirror you’d been holding and shattered it completely.
You dropped your head back to the floor.
“Hey Sam?” you heard Dean say.
“Yeah?”
“This has got to be like, what, six hundred years of bad luck?” the older brother joked.
Sam chuckled weakly. You couldn’t even muster up a laugh due to the bile rising in your throat. Memories were eating away at you, and the fact that Dean had heard your reflection was only adding to your anxiety. Your breath began to quicken, but you did your best to soothe yourself.
“(Y/N).” Sam drew you out of your trance. “Can you stand?”
You tried your best to, but couldn’t. Dean squatted down next to you. “C’mon.” He motioned for you to let him carry you. You complied. You looked up at his chiseled face. You swore he was handcrafted by the gods; perhaps Adonis himself. Your hazy mind couldn’t focus on anything aside from his beautiful green eyes. You had so much to say to him about what he’d heard. You knew he didn’t think highly of you, but your relationship had begun to get better. You didn’t want, well, you, to ruin it all now.
“Dean, I—” you started.
He cut you off. “We’ll talk later,” he said gruffly. Despite his cold and guarded tone, he put you down gently in the back of the Impala.
You ended up falling asleep in the back of the Impala. When you next awoke, you had been tucked into your bed in the motel. Your boots had been discarded, your jacket had been removed, and your key that you kept in your jacket pocket was now on the nightstand beside you. The gesture was sweet, but your mind immediately started reeling about the conversation you needed to have with Dean.
You checked the clock; it was ten in the morning. You were surprised how late you had slept, and figured the boys had dropped Charlie off; potentially had even left town without you. Your anxiety getting the best of you, you rushed over to their door. Dean opened it when you knocked.
“Hey,” you breathed.
“Hey,” he echoed.
“Can we talk?”
He nodded.
You led Dean back to your room. You sat cross-legged on your bed and Dean chose the chair across from you.
“Okay, um,” you sighed. “What do you want to know?”
“Who’d you kill, (Y/N)?” came his straightforward and dry response. “Why did it say you’d get us killed, too?”
You looked down at the floor, the tears beginning to well up in your waterline. “I wanna tell you, I just—”
“Look at me.” His voice was firm.
You did.
“I need to know.”
You took a deep breath. “When I was eighteen, I was coming back home from one of my first solo hunts. My dad had sent me to take out a vampire nest on the edge of the town we were staying in. There were only three vamps there at the time. I got so excited that I had nuked them all, I didn’t account for the fact that all three of them seemed like newbies. I didn’t… register, I guess, that one or more was probably missing.” You averted his gaze, struggling to keep your voice level. “And so, I left. I went back to the house we were squatting in, and, um, one of them followed me.” Tears began to roll down your cheeks.
“Sweetheart, that’s not your—”
You shook your head. “It is. He turned them, Dean. He turned my mom and my dad. I— I had no choice. I had to—” Your sentence was cut off by a sob, but Dean understood what you meant. You wiped a hand over your face and did your best to continue your story. “I sat with their bodies for a long time after. When my brother came back and saw what I’d done, he drew his gun on me. He, um, he wouldn’t listen. He wouldn’t let me explain. He couldn’t shoot me, though. He… He just… left. And then— And then, his best friend called me a few days later.” The tears came back. “He found my brother’s car.” You pressed a hand to your mouth. “And he was dead in it.” Broken sobs wracked your body once again. “It’s my fault that they’re gone, Dean, it’s my fault.”
You couldn’t bear to look at him. You knew how disgusted he must be with you. And then, you felt the bed dip beside you. Then, a hand on your arm. Then, he pulled you to his chest, and you melted into his embrace. Your cries still shook your body, but Dean’s strong arms held you together. He sat with you like that for a long time.
You and the boys had decided to leave Toledo sooner rather than later after Sam told you what Dean had done to the cops in front of the antique store. Long after leaving Toledo, Dean broke the comfortable silence that had settled over the car.
“Hey Sam?”
“Yeah?”
“Now that this is all over, I want you to tell me what that secret is.”
The younger Winchester sighed. “Look, you're my brother and I'd die for you, but there are some things I need to keep to myself.”
Your eyes remained trained on Sam as he looked out the window at something you were passing by. His expression went from confused to scared to saddened, and you knew he was seeing Jessica. After all, you had no doubt your face mirrored his every time you saw your mom standing on a street corner or your dad’s bloodied body lying in your footpath. In time, you knew he would learn to live with it just as you had.

If you're still taking asks, what about an AU where Mt. Lady has One For All?
Trying and trying to figure out how to manage Mt. Lady as Toshi's successor before realizing that I don't have to. That's not what the ask said!
1- OfA has often been passed to just whoever is around with the highest chance of not being evil, and so Banjo passed it to a fellow pro hero Tenyuu, who was just faster getting to him than En here. Tenyuu gave it to a sidekick Ricochet, and she gave it to a vigilante named Wayz, and they gave it to a hero named Magara, and she gave it a hero intern student Yū.
2- Yū was from a pretty small hero school and interning in a rural town, which is where Magara was trying to hide from AfO's notice. You may have noticed Toshinori isn't in that lineup of holders, so the commercial aspect looks a little different from canon and Yū is looking at it more like Uraraka- a license so she can use her quirk in other ways to make money. Moving cows for instance and whatever else that little smash comic had her doing idk.
3- and now she's got a target on her back from AfO, so Magara tells her to get help from old heroes- they'll know more and can help her. Yū didn't sign up for this, but girl isn't a quitter! She's vain and petty when it's not serious, but she knows when it's important. She's going down fighting, if at all! So she reaches out to the oldest hero she knows, Yoroi Musha, who reaches out to a few other old heroes including RG and Torino and they piece some info about AfO together for her.
4- Yū plays off the new strength as a side effect. She has to be very strong to lift and move her own body when it's gigantic and heavy, so when she shrinks and has less to carry she can move faster and punch harder. That's a lie, but it explains enough to buy her time on getting as much info and proof about AfO as she can before he pinpoints her as the next holder. When he does, she's ready, and the older heroes she had helping her release the info to the media as Yū grows to a hundred times her own size and strength and steps on AfO with every drop of OfA in her. It's rather gruesome, but also thorough, and as footage of that spreads with all the evidence that AfO did actually exist, and what connections could be found, it's a few crazy days. The HPSC does a cleaning of bugs and moles, and then invites Yū in to congratulate her.
5- she's only eighteen at the time, and they present to her an idea of a hero ranking, herself at the top. They really want to Mockingjay her, including already having a planned romance with Hawks, her age and just perfect isn't it? Yū hums, then asks if they think she's stupid just because she's young or blonde or both. She knows she's worth so much more than what they'd give her, even if she thinks the ranking might revitalize the hero industry and they could certainly use the numbers now. They can go ahead and give her the crown, but she isn't going to be their doll. Besides, she has AfO's secrets and was the one to decide they needed to be revealed after decades and decades. Do the HPSC think she doesn't have theirs, or are they just hoping she'll never think it's time for them to own up to it? (She's bluffing. She's bluffing so hard, but she can put on a show, and she did just turn AfO into jam, so. It works.) The HPSC smartly backs out while they can and thanks her for her continued work in the field. On her way out, she sends a thank you message to the heroes who helped her, and decides to look around the city for where she wants to set up her own agency, since she's got a bigger budget for it than she originally thought.

Snape Asks
Do you have a snOTP? What is it?
Sure, Snape x [First name] (specifically my OC) haha
2. What do you think is Snape's favourite colour and why?
Black? Like...obviously. You think he'd wear so much of it if he didn't genuinely like it?
3. Which Disney character, according to you is most like Snape?
Scar. I don't think there's another answer.
4. Do you think Snape remained a virgin?
I hate this question. Absolutely NOT. The dude was guilty about his best friend's death, it doesn't mean he never had sex. The only way he would have is if he were fully asexual (which, to be fair, seems possible).
5. Do you think Snape ever loved anyone other than Lily, romantically or platonically?
Romantically, no. Platonically, I think he loved Dumbledore and Draco.
6. If Snape learnt another language, which would he choose?
Latin, doy.
7. Which staff member do you think gets along well with Snape?
Dumbledore. I don't think he and McGonagall were friends, despite the fluffy popular head canons. Mutual respect, sure, but not friendship. Otherwise, I don't see him hanging out with any other staff.
8. If you had to assign Snape to a house, which one would it be?
Slytherin. No question. Dude was immensely ambitious.
9. What are your personal headcanons on Snape's diet and favourite foods?
I think eating was a chore for him. He probably had one favorite meal at any given time and it was all he wanted to eat. It'd change monthly. Sometimes he'd have a bread-and-cheese month, sometimes he'd have an eggs-and-bacon month. Otherwise he'd forget to eat.
10. Do you think Snape's character has changed the way you think/feel about others?
Yeah, I mean I hate James Potter. That's more because of the Marauders stans though. What a toxic community.
11. Your favourite scenes with book/movie!Snape?
Literally every book Snape scene.
12. If you had to chose a Golden trio era student to be Snape's friend, who would it be and why?
Luna.
13. Do you think Alan Rickman contributed to your love for Snape?
Yeah, but I loved book Snape first.
14. What do you think is Snape's favourite potion to prepare?
Probably changes based on the month. Whatever's fascinating him at the moment. Something complicated and finnicky, definitely.
15. If Snape had any free time, how do you think he would spend it?
Reading, drinking wine, doing up his buttons, smoking.
16. Were you ever a Snater? How and when did you become a Snover?
God no. I have taste.
17. Do you think Snape was unhappy even after joining the DEs?
Yes, definitely. I don't think it ever gave him what he was looking for.
18. Your favourite physical feature of Snape?
Eyes.
19. According to you, what is Snape's biggest flaw?
Being a dick for absolutely no reason. Lack of chill.
20. Why do you love Snape so much?
He's powerful and brilliant and misunderstood. He's also a weird sexy feral emo boy. He's also a professor and like...sheesh.
21. What particular memory do you think Snape used to conjure his patronus?
Something with Lily obviously. Could be anything. The day they met, hanging out by the Black Lake, laughing in class. It probably changes.
22. Do you think Lily was a good friend to Severus?
Not really. Maybe when they were kids, but once she started hating his friends, there's a real sense that she thought she was too cool for him.
23. What do you think Snape wore under his robes?
Dude what? Trousers.
24. Do you think Snape ever self-harmed?
I don't think he'd see the point.
25. Is there any other character you love as much as Snape? Do you think they'll get along?
Yeah. And no, they absolutely would not get along.
26. What genre do you think Snape preferred to read?
Crime, thrillers, non-fiction, historical fiction, maybe some horror
27. Do you think Snape was close to his mother?
No. I think he was disappointed by her. But he loved her more than he loved his dad.
28. Do you think you'd like being taught by Snape?
Only if we were fucking. Otherwise, from what I've seen he seems like a pretty lazy and demanding teacher.
29. How do you headcanon Snape's bedroom would look like?
Queen bed with dark sheets, a few bookcases, a desk and reading chair.
30. If you could give young Snape any advice, what would it be?
You're better than your origins. James Potter sucks--rise above it. And don't listen to the fucking Death Eaters man, come on. Dark Arts aren't the only magical mysteries left.
31. Do you think Snape had any mental illnesses? Which ones and why?
Yeah, dude. If the guy wasn't depressed I will eat my fucking hat. He was probably anxious as hell too. Maybe on the spectrum.
32. If you could change Snape's middle name to be something other than Tobias what would you choose?
Do people have opinions on this?
33. Top 3 songs you think will show up in Snape's most played?
There Is a Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths
The Killing Moon - Echo & the Bunnymen
Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
34. Do you have any Snape NOTPs?
I hate Snape x any of the Potters. Lily, James and Harry need to back off. Haven't they put him through enough?
35. Snapey BROTPs?
No, I want my man lonely and annoyed.
36. Did Snape get sick often? Your headcanons for when he was sick?
I don't think OFTEN. He'd definitely refuse to go to the hospital wing and brew his own cures. Probably worked when he was sick too. Stubborn ass.
37. Snape didn't pay attention to his physical appearance, but if you had to choose a part he would take care of, which would it be?
I disagree, I think the dude knew how to dress. I also think he cleaned his nails.
38. Which type of weather does Snape prefer?
Gray and cool.
39. How do you think Snape spent his early childhood days?
Hiding from his dad, finding joy where he could.
40. Other than Lily, who do you think impacted Snape's life the most?
Dumbledore. I think Narcissa and Lucius did too. Probably some of his DE friends--Mulciber springs to mind.
41. Is there a side to Snape that he hasn't let anyone see? What do you headcanon this "secret personality" to be like?
I don't think he laughs in public often. I think you'd have to be really close to see that.
42. Do you think Snape cried often?
As a kid and teenager, yes. I think at some point those tears dried up though.
43. What's your favourite headcanon about Snape?
He's actually a good professor and not as ugly as Harry seems to think.
44. Is there a movie/song/book that reminds you of Snape?
Tons of songs remind me of him. Sunburn by Muse will forever be the Broken Silence anthem.
45. What mode of magical travel would suit Snape the best?
God, anything but a fucking broom.
46. Your opinion on Snape's sexuality?
Realistically, somewhere on the demi spectrum. Possibly ace. In my head he's like a dom, bi-curious brat tamer though.
47. Which of the Marauders do you think Snape could have gotten along with?
If there was ever even a SHOT it would have been Lupin. The least awful of them.
48. How many points do you think Snape would've awarded during his career?
Sounds like he awarded a lot to Slytherins. Uncountable.
49. Did you feel Snape was the "good guy" even before the reveal?
Yep. I never lost faith.
50. Do you prefer tall!Snape or short!Snape?
Tall.
51. Had Snape lived, would he continue teaching at Hogwarts?
ARE YOU JOKING? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT.

I understand that this kinda stuff is not everyone's cup of tea so if you're not into that pls just walk away ty. Also, you may change my oc's name for yours if you wish to read this as a reader x ruggie fic, I don't care much if I'm being honest
Tumblr media
Daisy sighed as she sat down on a bench, trying to catch her breath. Savannaclaw's morning training was no joke, it was way more intense than she could ever imagine… but then again, if they were the top of their school when it comes to Spelldrive — well, at least second to Diasomnia — then she guessed it shouldn't be a surprise. She grabbed a water bottle and drank most of it in practically one go, she was exhausted, and she still needed to get that picture for Azul… today was gonna be rough.
"You're already tired?" Ruggie's voice popped out of nowhere, making Daisy flinch at the sudden sound. She lifted her head and saw the beastman standing in front of her, his head tilted with a smirk on his face.
Daisy huffed as she frowned. "I'm not used to this training, you know?" She glanced at his arm for a second, her expression softening a bit. "...is your arm ok?"
"You're such a worrywart, I'm fine." Ruggie groaned, instinctively caressing his arm. "You should worry more about yourself, you know? You have a contract with Azul."
Daisy became quiet after that. It was no use trying to voice her worry for Ruggie's wellbeing, ever since Leona's overblot she has been checking up on him, worried about his health, but all she got was a groan and a 'worry about yourself, prefect, I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself'. It was frustrating, but there was nothing she could do about it.
Ruggie sat down on the bench, taking her bottle from her hand despite her complaints and drinking from it. She sighed in defeat.
"So? You have a plan?"
"About my contract?" She thought for a second after he nodded. "Well, I'm… not really sure. I'm just gonna try and go to the museum, see how things are and if I get lucky I'll be able to get the picture."
Ruggie hummed but didn't say anything, so it became quiet between them, the only sounds being the students walking and talking occasionally, Grim almost picking up a fight with Leona who promptly ignored him, and Jack who sighed at the monster.
Daisy shifted her gaze to the side, taking a look at the guy sitting beside her. Ruggie was… annoying, she thought; he was self centered and seemed to know exactly what buttons to push to get on her nerves, yet… she found him intriguing. He tended to Leona and did exactly as he was told, but only if he could get something in return, he wasn't one for blind trust but, in a weird way, he seemed to really do trust Leona and his plan — well… until the lion beastman gave up, that is. He was hurt but he actively avoided getting help from anyone, it was almost as if he didn't believe that people would want to help him; he was annoying and had a way to piss her off, but he seemed to be way softer than he said he was, at least that's what she could gather by observing him for the past few days.
His ears were big, bigger than Leona's, rounder than Jack's… his eyes were a beautiful blue color and she noticed he had freckles all over his face; he was smaller and skinnier compared to the others in his dorm, but he was just as capable of handling himself during Spelldrive practices;
Daisy glanced at his lips for a moment, recalling his cheeky smile and how his eyes tended to smile together with it. It usually meant he was messing with her but… strangely enough, she couldn't help but think his smile was really pleasant.
"Are you done checking me out, prefect?"
Daisy's cheeks went red upon realizing he noticed her stare. The girl cleared her throat and looked away, scratching her neck, nervously.
"I wasn't checking you out, I was just- I was thinking." Well… she wasn't exactly lying, she was thinking.
"Sure you were." He teased, turning to look at her. "What were you thinking of? I saw you staring at my lips."
"I wasn't- I wasn't doing it on purpose, and I wasn't thinking anything like that." Daisy quickly said, trying to defend herself.
At that, Ruggie hummed and tilted his head, a smirk forming onto his features. "Like what?"
Gosh, he was insufferable.
Daisy decided she wouldn't answer. She couldn't let him get on her nerves.
"You just gonna ignore me now? Aw, you hurt me like that, Daisy."
"You really do enjoy annoying me, huh."
"Your expressions are priceless, so yeah." Ruggie laughed that signature laugh of his and despite the situation, Daisy felt the urge to laugh with him… was he using his spell on her or something? Ruggie seemed to catch the very small smile she was trying to contain, and smirked at her mischievously. "Is that a smile I see? Did I make you smile?"
"No." Daisy tried to contain herself, clearing her throat and covering her mouth.
"Worrying about me, staring at me, and now smiling at my teasing… you know, if I didn't know any better-" he paused, as if taking delight in her curious expression. "-I'd think you have a crush on me."
"A crush? On you?" Her eyes widened in pure shock, now letting a small, shocked and neevous chuckle escape. "Well, I'm all for believing in your dreams so if that's what you're dreaming of, go for it." She rolled her eyes, the smile being unable to contain at this point.
Truly, she was starting to question what was the matter with herself. Part of her was annoyed at his teasing and at the insinuation he just made, but another — a part that seemed to grow each day she spent in Ruggie's presence — seemed to weirdly enjoy it, like having him try to pick on her was fun somehow, like hearing his laugh was worth the frustration he made her feel.
Ruggie chuckled, and Daisy felt her ears turn pink. There it was, the confirmation that she truly was going crazy.
They both heard Leona call for the last training session, though he himself seemed to want it all to be over already. Both of them got up and Ruggie continued on his training as if their exchange never happened, and Daisy couldn't help but be a bit bothered by it.
There was nothing she could do though, not right now at least.

Juli Juli, I'm back to invade your home (inbox) <3
I blush to know that you also feel the same emotion that talking to you makes me feel, it's nice to make friends in the fandom that share the same braincell as you hehehe
Wait soon buddy for the post of Sejanus and the academy kids (you too have noticed that Persefone is incredibly underrated in fics?), although I come to tell a little of my ideas with Pup because I have no self control and I need to know what you think of my delirium lmao
OK. So with another friend I was talking one day precisely about the choice in the movie to make Festus explicitly a bully of Sejanus -when in the book it is mentioned he is one of the few who treated him not as bad as others, you know- and that other students we thought could fit better in the role of explicit bullys, and I said that I could see Pup having some very specific viciousness towards Sejanus
And the cause of it all are the daddy issues hahaha, the vision is this: we know that Strabo is in charge of weapons and ammunition, elements that are very useful in a police state like Panem, it is sure that the peacekeeper weapons are a Plinth product but not only the peacekeeper weaponry, also the naval force must use theirs products!!!! Which is where Pup's father comes in. We know he's a naval commander and from what wiki says it's a high and respectable position, but the thing is I don't think it's so crazy that Strabo and him know each other, whether it's business, or moving in somewhat similar environments, etc. There are many possibilities but they have talked and maybe they get along well, and the thing is that when it was obvious that Sejanus was being a fiasco to make friends on his own at the academy -though certainly not because he didn't want to, my poor boy :(-, I belive it's possible maybe Strabo would want to intervene in the matter, he knows that contacts are vital! !!! and Sejanus can't remain an outsider, so he does the math: Pliny Harrington senior has a son, who goes to the academy and he's Sejanus' age!!! it's a golden opportunity >:D
So Strabo ends up inviting the Harringtons to dinner many times to try to get Sejanus and Pup to become friends, but it backfires, their conversations are awkward because there couldn't be two more different kids, Sejanus is sensitive and shy and Pup is so messy, and direct (consider this is when they were younger, maybe 10-12?), their interests are just incompatible. The only ones having a good time and chatting are Pliny sir and Strabo while Pup is in Sejanus's room in very uncomfy silence, (which is only maybe broken because Pup is noisily eating the candy Ma gave them jahsjgsjgshs)
Although with time they start having conversations a bit longer, and end up getting used to each other's company, because they see each other outside the academy so often, I would say they learn to tolerate each other but it all goes to hell when they grow up, because oh boi Pup is going to lose his mind over Sejanus. Look the most striking thing about Pup is just his name, his name is the same as his father, they had to give him a nickname to differentiate him, and here I start from the following assumption, useful for the plot about Pup and that is that he wants to be like his father.
And he is a little frustrated because he can't be, I think that in adolescence he will have that moment where he wants to reclaim his own identity and move away from the Harrington legacy to some extent but in reality he feels a lot of pressure to meet the impossible standards that his father asks of him. But he can't be like his father, not in the parts he would like and admire, and the boy has tried, he has tried hard, so imagine Pup feeling that way when at one of the dinners Strabo and Sejanus start fighting in front of them. Sejanus doesn't want to be like his father, he actively tries not to be like Strabo and as we see in TBOSAS he has a certain contempt for who his father is and his qualities.
And I think knowing that, you can see where I'm going with Pup eventually becoming one of the people who most actively bully Sejanus, but well I'll get into that in more depth later…. (my circle is Coriolanus wanting to be like his father, to have identity conflict about being like his mother and end up being Crassus 2.0, Sejanus not wanting to be like his father, not having that conflict about being like his mother but be a lot more like Strabo than he would like and I've decided to bring Pup into this mess bc yes in a model of son WANTING TO BE HIS FATHER but be uncapable to certain extend-, ETC)
About the university:
JULI I UNDERSTAND YOUR PAIN (my u is also ridiculously large, they call it a university TOWN and the matter of being a TOWN is very literal AHHHH)
JHSJHSJHSJHS I've been lost many times so I can imagine the panic you felt when it happened but I'm so glad you found a way to get to your campus <3, IT REALLY IS A WIN. I know that getting lost is terrifying but I must say that it is not such a bad experience, you really end up learning a lot, although of course it is better to do not get lost in first place but sometimes it is inevitable (Especially if you go to fucking big universities like us)
I suppose you will see this on the weekend so your welcome week will have already passed, so I wish you good luck for your next week, which I suppose it will be more serious now. Remember to not put so much pressure on you!! Go at your own pace and I hope you really enjoyed your introductory week. I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man but just know that a welcome week is something very valuable to live (I started college during the pandemic so no welcome for me, just online classes) BUT LETS GO BACK TO OUR THG-TBOSAS TALKS:
When I realized who the protagonist of TBOSAS was, I felt very confused. It was certainly not a choice that I was surprised to see, I think it is common to a certain extent for franchises to do that, right? They explore their villains but because of the style of story that Suzanne wrote with THG, I felt very confused but as you say, once you read the book, it's pretty clear why SUZANNE WROTE IT. God, I would really like it if people wrote about their "antagonists" and their past, they would use more often this approach of criticizing issues that influence decisions of that type over the "society is bad and corrupt you." (This point above all is what I love most about TBOSAS, it made is clearly a question of decisions and there is no biological or contextual determinism in the path of the bad guy)
OH GOD JULI, PEOPLE REPRODUCING CORIOLANUS'S INTOLERANT SPEECHES IS SO REAL; I need to tell you because I have never been able to forget that damn post. I have a real trauma from reading it, but here on tumblr, on one occasion I read someone talk about how SEJANUS FIRST BETRAYED CORIOLANUS, -and that was the reason why he deserved to be killed.
I WAS SPEECHLESS WHEN I READ IT. AND IT WAS FUCKING TERRIFYING; IT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING CORIOLANUS GHOSTWROTE, but no. It was an honest opinion that someone expressed and I fucking scream. The movie was really afraid to make a statement and you see it by these savage takes uh And yes!, the problems of the adaptation of TBOSAS are very present in the previous THG films (it has big changes but well dones likeEffie, but others like ERASEED PEETA'S DISABILITY simply do not have sense) No one can deny that they are very decent adaptations of their books, it's just that they are quite apolitical derivative products of extremely political books and that is quite noticeable. As you say, by getting rid of certain details, the strongest messages that the story hoped to convey to its audience, were lost in translation: the whitewashing of Katniss that you mention, for example make her bond with Haymitch lost their impact. They have a fundamental mutual understanding that comes from and is explained because they come from the same place and they are similar not only in personality but also in physique, which gives them a sense of shared familiarity. OHHH THAT ARENA SCENE BEFORE THE BOMBS, <3 I really loved how we saw the tributes have more agency in that moment, and yes, I think the games in general benefit in the movie from being able to exist outside of Coriolanus's head who refuses to see the children of the district as human beings. At this point, above all, I think we should give a great appreciation to the actors, for embodying these characters and giving them a face and a voice and small gestures that tell us about who they are (Lamina as it is does not say much but her expressions, her body language say everything about her personality; that shyness, that gentleness, that fear, or Woovy holding LGB's hand that tells us about the bond they formed, when she talks about her climbing skills ahhh) I really love when you describe TBOSAS as a twisted fairy tale, I think I can see the vision, Coriolanus begins his journey and does everything he shouldn't do oh, AND YES!! EXACTLY!! LOSING SEJANUS IS THE BREAKING POINT OF CORIOLANUS, his death symbolically is the death of Coriolanus' goodness, the good he could have done and it speaks volumes that losing "his angel on the shoulder" is what drives him to try to kill LGB, my poor dear :(( Rue. OH BUDDY, SHE AND THE FANDOM, is quite a LOT but if you haven't seen it, I really recommend a video essay on YouTube called "The day Rue 'became' black", because I think it perfectly describes many of the fandom's problems with her character
About the fanfics:
No problem Juli, I actually love angst, so I suffered a lot reading them but ultimately I loved them and they also entered my bookmarks (in fact you have motivated me to start reading the sejarcus label, I've already started reviewing it hehehe ;), and If my suspicions are true, what can I say… just that my friend is one of the most talented writers in the fandom, can you believe it? oh it's you <3)
AAHHHHH THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN SEEING THAT YOU LOVED THREE OF MY FAVORITE FANFICS, I was a little worried because I realized that two of them had Coriolanus as the protagonist JSHJSHJSH but it's good to see that you also enjoy watching him suffer hehehe, in short it's incredible how there are people writing ABSOLUTE WORKS OF ART FOR FREE ON THE INTERNET, it's so crazy I can read it anytime
(I see that you were also impressed by that ending ASJHSJHSJHS IT'S WEIRD BECAUSE I see it in retrospect and it's like it actually has a lot of logic, like you can even see the clues that something like that could happen but that doesn't mean that WHEN IT HAPPENS YOUR JAW DONT FALLS TO THE FLOOR, BECAUSE IT DO. CORIOLANUS AND THE FUCKING ROSE GARDEN *I scream*)
Regarding Coriolanus and his problem with the wealth of the Plinth + the overestimation of the wealth and influence and power of the Plinth fandom does, I can only say that I have to take off my hat, bow and ask to you to SAY IT LOUDER, BECAUSE YOU HAVE SUMMED UP SO WELL, WITH SUCH A WONDERFUL ELOQUENCY THE REAL POINT OF THE MATTER: CORIOLANUS DOESN'T THINK THAT BEING DISGUSTINGLY RICH AND ABUSING YOUR POSITION TO GET YOUR WAY IS A BAD THING, NO, NO, NO
HE ONLY THINKS THAT THE PEOPLE OF THE DISTRICT DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO THAT (Oh buddy I agree, the Plinths' life would have been worse with that unfortunate bitch of Crassus around. BTW ANY THOUGHTS OF CRASSUS AND CASCA? BC BUDDY, THEY HAD SUCH A FUCKED RELATIONSHIP) I think it's not crazy to say that that was Suzanne's intention: although Sejanus is racially ambiguous - but for me he is poc coded - it is very clear the importance of his ethnicity when defining the way he will move around the world, and Coriolanus is literally the definition of a middle-class white boy who resents lacking the privileges he believes he should have, especially when said traits are present in someone like the Plinths, who according to his view, are inferior and should not being able to overcome the social hierarchy -and they don't really do it, because status, the true sense of belonging in white and old money spaces is impossible to buy-)
JULI YOU'VE OPENED PANDORA'S BOX, I LITERALLY HAVE AN AU THAT EXPLAINS IT AND DAMN I SHOULD HURRY UP WITH THE WEDDING FIC BUT I FUCKING AGREE :))
If Sejanus had remained in the Capitol, in the best of cases if he avoids being assassinated (I'm 99% that would be his predetermined destiny, as you said the weight of being a district, of having "altered" the social order, weighs more than gold ) or become an avox: I'm sure how they made his life impossible like they do in the academy, not, IM SURE they would have made HIS LIFE WORSE (we must take into account thanks to the beautiful nepotism, many of his former bullies would have inherited positions of power, Livia Cardew and the most important bank in the Capitol to say the least…). I can literally see everyone dragging his reputation on the ground, they would look for a way to prevent him from entering politics and if he managed to do so by some miracle, they would get him into a scandal or something like that -and I think they would try to sedate him. literally but that's more my suffocation au- BUT WELL, LET'S BETTER TALK ABOUT THE FAVORITE AU IN ALL OF LATIN AMERICA: LATAM AU!!!
You mentioned wanting to write something about our baby (it is our shared baby the latam au lmao), and of course you have my permission and my blessing, PLEASE TAG ME IF YOU DO, I NEED TO READ THIS BECOME A REALITY (and maybe it will inspire me to do the same)
I declare everything you have said canon
MY BABY LUCY GRAY, SHE NEEDS A HUG, A DAMN REST, AND SOMEONE TO GIVE HER A HAND, AHHHHHHH. XDDD I LOVE THE SCENE OF LGB THROWING BILLY TAUPE'S THINGS OUT THE WINDOW, YES KICK HIM OUT MY LOVE!!!
:) I love friends to lovers, so please Coral, adorable Irish girl, who has been her friend for a while, the only one with whom Lucy Gray allows herself to vent a little (insert scene from I'm tired and Lucy Gray falls asleep on her shoulder YEEES), and who helps her in any way she can (LGB needs someone to repair her refrigerator? Our girl is running to do it lmao). Oh Coral has an embarrassing crush on LGB that she doesn't know how to deal with, but her feelings have been impossible to contain lately, especially since LGB broke up with the fool of Billy Taupe who dared to cheat on her!!! (and I can see Coral was the one who told her every time LGB complained about Billy T's nonsense, to leave him) but she knows that the breakup is very recent, and Coral is not good with these type of feelings and well, she is simply existing and suffering in silence
I'm sorry, I made Vesta Plinth once threaten Strabo with a divorce and I NEVER COULD STOP JAHSJSJSGS. It will be the recurring joke, Strabo the cold, determined, and proud man who is not afraid of anything except his wife asking him for a divorce. He cried the first time Vesta said it, I know, ALSO YES, HE MISS BABY SEJANUS SO BAD BUT BUDDIE THE BACKSTORY THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN TO SEJANUS - HIS STAGE OF REBELLION, HIS TURNING POINT BECAUSE OF COURSE SEJANUS DEFENDED HIS MOTHER, AND HIS CONFLICTS WITH STRABO AND HIS MEETING WITH CORIOLANUS - AND TO THE PLINTHS, CHEF KISS I SWEAR, give me ur brain to kiss it too, BECAUSE DEAR, YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! SSISISIS IS CANON I HAVE SAID IT
Ultimately, Sejanus and Ma would have the strongest ties to their neighborhood, it is their home, and I am so happy that this time they can choose to stay with their people and have the community and support they so deserve *I cry*
I was thinking about The Snow, Tigris, Maude Ivory and how maybe Coriolanus and LGB know each other?, so let's get to it!!!
We've revived Coriolanus' mother, which is sad and funny LMAO, because she's alive at the same time as Coriolanus' horrible grandmother, so I can see this situation: Crassus dies, and the Snows (Coriolanus' mother, Coryo and his little sister, oh yes) they have to live with the grandmother, who does not charge them rent in exchange for taking care of her, and oh buddy, the tension is very high because I can see Coriolanus's grandmother being one of those horrible mothers-in-law with her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Snow suffers a lot of abuse :(( but I think maybe Crassus got into debt in this universe, and she now has to support two kids and pay bills, and being homeless just isn't an option. Putting up with the terrible mother of Crassus is what suits her better and it's screwed, so the Snows continues eating cabbage and beans in this au to the horror of Coriolanus, because I can see his mother as someone not very skilled in the kitchen, the grandmother hates her for that but she's not going to cook either, bc "she's not the maid"… :))) )
The grandmother, as we know, is the one who puts it into Coriolanus' head that he is somehow more European than Latino lmao, and who probably encouraged him to lie about his heritage. NOW THE LITTLE SISTER, on the discord server I've mentioned a few times, someone talked about how Coriolanus having his mother and sister alive may have pushed him into a position from overprotected little brother to middle child fighting for attention/older brother with more awareness, and I think it is a great change to apply to latam au.
PLS his little sister is ashamed of her weird brother, Tigris is Coryo's cousin but she is still something like his older sister. That is the dynamic of the house, and this would make Coriolanus have more issues with women but I think it would be interesting, the thing is that I slightly mentioned the younger sister because I had the funny thought of "what if Maude Ivory discovers the gringo's secret? she knows he knows spanish and is not a gringo and blackmails/forces him to buy her silence with sweet popcorn?"
AJKSJKSJSHS I liked the idea of Coriolanus slightly missing his little sister, and that when Maude Ivory finds out, he suddenly has a little girl attached to him, who bothers him and makes his life miserable and Coryo is like OH NO, panicking and thinking about how he doesn't miss his little sister anymore, he has a fucking copy of her that's 1000 worse
About Tigris I thought that I can see her struggling with her dreams, and her job, I think she would continue being Fabricia's assistant who is a haute couture designer who treats her horribly, and maybe the people of the neighborhood are her point of support to a certain extent. Because small deviation. I did a brief research AND I WAS FASCINATED BY THE FACT THAT ARGENTINES / URUGUAYANS within the Latin community in the USA feel a strong disconnection, because they are a minority, and are usually upper middle class, with access to resources and privileges that other Latin communities do not have for the whitepassing and it is something strangely very suitable for Tigris and Coriolanus
I can see that Tigris, gets along well with her neighbors and adores them (please we need her and Vesta to be together at some point like besties <3!!!) but no one else is uruguayan, and she very much feels that loneliness of not having anyone who understands exactly what she longs for, although they do have in common the nostalgia of a home and a culture, and I think it is possible that she will be very happy by having Coryo around, because it means having someone who understands her quite a bit in that aspect (even if Coriolanus pretends outside their door that has nothing to do with Argentina - River Plate area)
BUT AS I SAID. I see her having difficulties because her parents tried hard to support her dream of becoming a designer and moving to New York but she is only an assistant with little free time and she feels suffocated and I think it is something to explore hehehehe
ABOUT LGB AND CORIOLANUS >:)))
Okay. I don't mean this to be snowbaird but I can see that Coriolanus witnessed LGB throwing things out of a window and thought she was crazy and VERY PRETTY LMAO, so she's the only person in the neighborhood he wants to get close to, and LGB knows him too and she's curious because he's Tigris's cousin, and he's very mysterious and handsome (she doesn't know yet that he's paranoid and go into a hard assimilation LMAO) I think they have a certain crush on each other, and maybe that's how they meet, in a Lucy Gray show, Coriolanus smiles at her and they join together when she finishes singing BUT I THINK THEY ARE THE KIND OF CRUSH THAT IS RUINED WHEN SOMEONE OPENS THEIR MOUTH XDDD
Their love was cute from afar because they talk and Coriolanus confirms that LGB is 1000% crazy girl, and LGB confirms that gueros are 100% stupid, but they eventually stop flirting and end up eventually becoming frenemies <3
JULI SJSISJIJSS YOUR TASTE IS EXCELLENT I SWEAR, long live to be a threate KID, I WAS SO SO OBSSED TOO WITH HAMILTON, Non stop and Burr songs were MY THING. AND WICKEEEEED, I LOVEEE IT SO MUCH (snowjanus au when?), I just see CHICAGO on tv and my gay ass make the choice for me; I need to see and ear more musicals LOL. I had a ver normal thing for the phantom of the opera too, AND IN THE HEIGHTS ITS SO FUCKING GOOD, THE MOVIE WAS SO BRILLIANT AHHHH <3 Sadly it has finally happened, I have shared all my songs in Spanish from the snowjanus and sejanus and coryo playlist sighs, well it is entre canibales de soda stereo but there is not much to say about that one than horny hours LMAO but the much feared day has arrived, I will look for more songs for them I promise but for now I only have common songs in english :( Did I still want to listen to them?
PD: I didn't say it but clearly I need to meet your other two ocs, please, even if you make me suffer
helloooo so happy to see you here again 🥹 feel yourself at home
yessssss I'm so happy to have you around here, sometimes it's a bit hard finding friends in fandom, let alone who share the same braincell as you sllsklsk aaaaa srsly I'm just so happy to talk to every single time
YESSSSS I'M WAITING FOR IT ☝️ and absolutely yes; most of the fics use arachne, livia and (sometimes) pup in the fics, but there are so many other students with so much potential, specially persefone who caught my attention exactly bc coriolanus was thinking shitty things of her 😭
AAAAA I LOVE YOUR THOUGHTS ABT PUP!!! I can totally see strabo trying to force sejanus to hang out with the kids of his business partners (and in this case, it makes even more sense, bc OF COURSE strabo would try to get along with someone like pliny harrington), and even if he had good intentions (trying to have sejanus to have contacts), it kinda just makes sejanus' life much worse. so while strabo and pliny senior are there having good conversations and actually getting to good business' deals... poor sejanus is there staring at pup without knowing what to say for, like, two hours straight 😭 and then after it, his pa talks to sejanus suggesting to do it again bc pliny harrington junior seems like a good kid, and sejanus protests, but this is strabo, so he doesn't really have much of a choice lmao
also, this whole "how father-son relationships affect their kids and the story" is just so good !!! because this is a recurring theme on tbosas, how past generations affect the present one (we never see crassus snow in person, for example, but he STILL affects the story, he still influences coriolanus' character even if he isn't there, and it's so interesting). love the thought of pup being one of the most vicious bullies, especially bc in this case, he actually talked to the district kid, he knows that kid, he visited his home and ate from his food. that's just one more reason for him to be even more cruel to sejanus, to be like "hey!!! I actually don't like this kid!!! my father forced me to hang out with him, but I HATE him so much!!!"
KSLSKSLKLSL IT'S INSANEEE like bro there's a whole ass BUS to circle on the different campus, and like, WHYYYY 😭 and yessss even though getting lost at first is terrifying, you also learn different routes in case something wrong happens (and plus it's a fun little story to tell in the future lmao). and as you said, it's kind of inevitable, I was already going having in mind that this was probably going to happen (even tho I expected to get lost inside my own campus, not in another oneLSKSLKLS)
tysmmmmmm!!! tomorrow things will start to get more serious BUT after the whole trauma that high school was, I think I'm more prepared this time to not almost die bc of studying. there's something the older students say around that it's "you die and the college stays here", bc... it's true, you know? if you study like a madman and get sick because of it, the college will remain the same and the only one who'll face the consequence it's you. KSLSKSLKS and tysmmmmm the introductory week was very fun, I'm even more excited now to start the course 🥹 (and omg I'm sorry you didn't have an introductory week 😭 starting college during the pandemic sounds TOUGH)
BUT OKAY, LET'S GO:
yesssss, it wouldn't be the first time a franchise tells the story of a villain (I mean, anakin in the most obvious one I can think abt, but for sure there are plenty), but I just couldn't think how suzanne collins could write a book from the pov of a fascist without having ppl closing it immediately (because it's CORIOLANUS SNOW we're talking about). but it's genuinely so good and so well thought how it compliments the original trilogy so well.
and yes!!! like, okay, I understand authors want the reader to sympathize with the protagonist, in case, being the villain (bc most people wouldn't read a book where they dislike the protagonist or where the protagonist is such a horrible person, right?), and the way they find to do this is exactly like you said: blaming society. in a different society, this person wouldn't be so horrible. and in tbosas, suzanne recognizes the fucked up society coriolanus lives in, recognizes the bad envinronment and the indoctrination, recognizes all of it... at the same time that, in the end, the blame is mostly at coriolanus' choices. choices. the only way the story could've ended differently was if he was a different person and chose better paths.
I THINK I'VE SEEN THAT POST, IT'S INSANEEEEEEEEEE, like, get out of your fake acc coriolanus snow!!!! not, but srsly, there's so many takes I see around that seem that coriolanus himself wrote them, it's quite insane how that man was able to manipulate even the readers into agreeing with him and not looking beyond the horrible shit he says and does.
(and tumblr it's quite tame regarding the things I've seen on tiktok.... like, ofc every social media have their own bad takes, but tiktok is BEYOND ME, it rlly makes it seem like media literacy is dead, it's so depressing how the point of the story got missed so, so, so bad)
yessssss!!! another example (this time abt tbosas, again): one of the changes that turn the tbosas movie so apolitical when compared to the book (even though it's such a small change) it's that the reaping happens in the 4th of july. 4TH OF JULY. I genuinely don't KNOW how suzanne collins could've made it more fucking obvious. and coming back to thg, there are other examples like this; for example, removing the fact that D11 sent the bread for katniss after rue's death, it was such a strong moment in the book (even tho, again, it's a small detail). also, it's worth saying some of the marketing didn't help much, focusing too much on the gale x peeta thing; a lot of people went to the movie thinking it was a love triangle, and can we really blame them? (and abt her bonding with haymitch, yes!!!!!! it did lost a lot of the impact!!!!! and it happens not only to katniss, it happens to a LOT of the other characters from the seam, like gale and haymitch himself)
YESSS that scene was so well done, loved seeing the tributes interacting more with each other, and it was a very interesting scene coral gathering allies. AND YES, the tbosas cast is so good!!! they REALLY helped bring to life more of these characters' personalities just by their mannerisms, they deserve EVERYTHING (lamina and wovey are two of the most remarkable, besides coral, mizzen, treech and tanner, but it's worth also saying: even though the movie didn't include the whole sejanus and marcus' backstory, each time we see marcus looking at sejanus, you can feel so much tiredness and pain and bottled anger in his look, it's SO GOOD)
it's even worse bc we KNOW the ending, we know the path coriolanus will take and we see much of his future actions in his present actions... and still, we see him taking the worst decisions and the worst path and we get surprised or sad or angry 😭 and YESSS exactlyyy!!!
also, I've watched the video, and I was so SHOCKED. like, I've read the book after the movies were released, and I had no idea how FUCKING BAD IT WAS???? in rue's case it's even worse because the book makes it EXPLICIT she's black, and STILL people kept reading her as white, and fancasting her as white, and then GETTING MAD WHEN THE MOVIE ACTUALLY PORTRAYS HER LIKE IN THE BOOK- oh, man, that's a mess. such a mess. idk why I'm even surprised or disappointed tbf. but overall, the video is so good, it was so worth watching it
I'M SO HAPPY YOU STARTED READING THE SEJARCUS LABEL, OMG, there's only a few fics there but most of them are sooo good, I've read so many good ones on that tag (even though most are utterly HEARTBREAKING) 😭 AND AAAAAAAAAAAKSLSKLSK TYSMMMMM THIS IS SO SWEET, SRSLY
LSKSLSKSLSKLSKL I may slander coriolanus daily, BUT I have mixed feelings regarding him as a character bc not only I consider him well built, he's so interesting, so I actually LOVE reading abt him as a protagonist (and from time to time he's my fav pov to write from) and I love even more when authors are able to grasp his deranged and delusional thoughts. it's even better when he actually gets what HE DESERVES ☝️
(I'm still thinking abt that ending by the way bc of how quick my face DROPPED. it was the same feeling when I played doki doki literature club for the first time, I was having fun and there were some lines that were so adorable and cute, and then suddenly BOOM. a punch on your stomach. and I came back to reread it, and there was actually so many foreshadowings.... I'm staring at the wall still thinking abt it)
BUT YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH 😭😭😭😭 like, ppl, please, look around. coriolanus hanged out with some of the richest and most powerful kids from the academy. the academy itself is FULL of insanely rich kids. but the only time we see him complaining about someone having more opportunities than him due to privilege is when he's talking about sejanus. oh, I wonder why. he focus on this so much we can even forget that there are other kids in the academy who are probably as rich as sejanus, or even MORE (again, felix ravinstill? pup harrington, whose father is from the NAVY, and sejanus' family got rich due to the war, so it's only logical pup's family would be as rich, if not even more?). and I mean, even if coriolanus wasn't poor, if his family was still rich... guess what? he would STILL complain abt the plinths and their privilege, just this time he would be less jealous and it would be more obvious on WHY he complains abt them.
(OHHHH CASCA AND CRASSUS, ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING RELATIONSHIPS IN THE BOOK. no, srsly, because- we know very few things abt crassus snow, the things we know can be biased because they come from other people. but what he did to casca, his best friend, is beyond me. it makes me wonder what were crassus' real opinions about casca; was it genuine? was it something like what we see coriolanus do to sejanus, think one way and act another? and besides, there's a theme in tbosas about history repeating itself, we see it plenty of times characters ending following their parents' footsteps, for better or for worst... and in this case, it's just so interesting to me how coriolanus never really had a big contact with his father, and still, he followed his footsteps. ANYWAY.)
aaaaaaa I absolutely agree sejanus is poc coded!! the first time I've read, I couldn't help but picture him as either from pakistan or india (now I see him mostly as afro-latino, but again, I change the way I picture him a lot). sometimes I think I'm reading too deep or reaching, but idk, since the first trilogy there's some very interesting points to be made abt how some characters are either explicitly poc or poc coded (the most important one being katniss, even though this got completely lost on the movie), so I couldn't help but think abt tbosas the same way 😭 and yesssss you put it into words perfectly!!! either coriolanus doesn't get it, or either he's too privileged to understand, but there's a clear hierarchy in the capitol, where coriolanus is above sejanus socially (even though sejanus have much more money than him).
(it's worth saying I was SO scared the movie would do the same thg did with katniss but with him and lucy gray, and this time they would have more "arguments" bc for lucy gray and sejanus, there's no direct description of them being poc as far as I can remember, but it would just take away a LOT of the message of the story... yk, coriolanus ruining the life and taking advantage of the only two people (besides tigris) who could stand him, and these two people being poc)
ALSO SLSKLSKSLKS I LOVE THAT AU SM, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE WEDDING FIC!!! 😭
but like you said, I ABSOLUTELY agree that there would be only 3 possible ends for sejanus (if things didn't go like they did in D12): death, becoming an avox or even more absolute social death. because people say "oh but strabo is doing fine in the capitol", but the whole thing abt sejanus is that he refused to assimilate, it's TOO OBVIOUS he's district, people can see that. how would his life go in college? and about getting a job? because I'm sure he wouldn't want to work for his father. if we go into the politcs path, if BY A MIRACLE he was able to, he wouldn't last a year in the political circle of the capitol. when I say sejanus was doomed, I'm not only talking abt death, he was doomed DOOMED, he would be miserable it doesn't matter the path he took. it's no surprise he's the first and last character (besides his family) we see in the capitol that's from the districts; strabo was more an exception than a rule regarding assimilation. (also, abt the sedation part, pls tell me more 👁)
latam au!!!! <33 we're parents with the shared guard of it, raising it with much love, and TYSM, OFC I'LL TAG YOU ON IT 😭 (and hopefully it will inspire to do the same bc it's a NEED)
someone get lucy gray 7hrs of sleep and a bed and a babysitter for maude ivory bc she needs some rest and some fun at least once in her life!!! KSLKSLLSKLS THAT'S WHAT HE DESERVESSSSS plus imagine the gossip on the hair salons of the neighbourhood, that's ALL everyone could talk abt for the next few weeks
and OMGGGGGG I'M IN LOVE WITH WHAT YOU THOUGHT FOR CORAL AND LUCY GRAY!!!! 😭 now, lucy gray loves her neighbourhood, love her friends and the covey and the people around her, but what she goes through having to basically raise maude ivory is such a specific thing that's hard to find someone who can relate to... and then you have coral, who have very similar experiences regarding raising a child at such a young age (coral having to raise mizzen basically by herself). so they become friends very easily, and coral is always around. and it's so obvious to everyone around how in LOVE coral is with lucy gray, that woman have basically hearts in her eyes every single time lucy gray passes by. but again, this is obvious to everyone... except for lucy gray. and now lucy gray is single again (you can hear coral celebrating from a mile away, she's never been happier, she always KNEW billy taupe was a dick and it wasn't only bc of pettiness bc of her crush), my girl is in PAIN, bc that also means... lucy gray started to flirt with ppl again in the club. oh it's torture.
(you can tell she's not particularly fond of coriolanus, she KNOWS there's something wrong with that guy, she doesn't know yet)
IT'S JUST SUCH A FUNNY JOKE, strabo plinth, the man who doesn't fear nothing, who betrayed his district, who's pretty much hated by everyone around him and is absolutely okay with it... would rather die than having his wife asking for a divorce 😭 (wish she could've done the same in canon, sighs)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKED ITKSLSKLSKLSKLS but yessss, if we can't have it in canon, at least in fanfiction sejanus and his ma can be happy with the life in the community they love instead of being ripped away from everything they know into a hostile envinronment, that's what they deserve <;3 (sobbing in a corner)
I think it's good coryo's mom is alive in this, at least it's a reasonable reason for him to not be the worst 😭 AND ALSO, LOVE THAT HE HAS A LITTLE SISTER AAAAA!!! AND I LOVE YOUR IDEAS FOR THE SNOW FAMILY, THEY'RE ALL CANON NOW (poor mama snow tho :(( ). also, hear me out: the snows were very wealthy back in arg (coriolanus even went to a bilingual school for a looong time, so english really isn't a problem for him and that's why he didn't really have a problem in pretending and keeping up his lies). then crassus moved to the usa with all the family, but he made very bad choices and the family pretty much lost most of their money. to make things even better, he dies. coriolanus' mom is trying hard to adapt to their new reality, even though she comes from a rich and wealthy background, but coriolanus' grandma really acts as if nothing changed and they have as much money as before, so that's why she's so disgusted by the idea of herself cooking.
I just KNOW that before coriolanus' first day at school, his grandma told him to not tell anyone where they're from. coriolanus being a middle child fighting for attention is such a good concept!!!! also, this explains why he's fighting SO hard to get into stanford and do something big: it's not only bc he's extremely ambitious, it's because overperforming in school was the only thing that could make his mom and his grandma pay more attention to him (they were too worried about his little sister growing up).
his little sister wanting to die every single time when he was him going to pick up at school and not tigris, and this got even worse bc now tigris is in collegeKSLSKSLKLS idk I just think it would be so funny the idea of him bickering with a child as if she's his age 😭 MAUDE IVORY BLACKMAILING HIM IS SUCH A FUNNY THOUGHT I'M SCREAMINGGGGGKSJSKSJSLKLS at first she's so confused, bc like, why would him be trying to pretend he's not like them? but coriolanus is desperate, specially bc maude ivory is LUCY GRAY'S BABY COUSIN, he CAN'T let her spill it out, so he's like "okay, okay, what do you want to keep quiet abt this?" and now maude ivory have sweet popcorn for life <3
coriolanus travelling to new york being so glad he's finally away from that little gremlin (even though he DOES miss her, as much as he tries to deny) and now he even regrets thinking abt missing her bc now with maude ivory around, he's so sure he DOESN'T MISS HER. AT ALL.
AAAAAAAAAA I LOVE YOUR THOUGHTS ABT TIGRIS!!!! and also this is such an interesting info??? and it serves so well to the purposes of this au!! (but also YESSSSS TIGRIS AND VESTA, PLS, THEY WOULD GET ALONG SO WELL!!! 🥹) but yesssss!! some ppl from tigris' works get confused when she talks abt this, bc she literally lives in a latin neighbourhood, why does she feel so alone? but they don't get it that's just not the same. yes, latin countries share a lot of similarities bc of iberian colonization and the impacts of usa imperialism... but in the end, we're not the same, and ofc tigris feels alone. so when the news arrive that coriolanus is going to live with her, she's SO happy (she doesn't know he's still pretending tho, she thought it was like a phase in middle school... but oh, well
(also it's worth saying it's cute thinking that the first thing tigris did when coryo arrived was make some mate for him, she was so excited to have him around <3)
and also, a suggestion for the plot: coriolanus admires tigris, genuinely, bc she was able to go to new york and go to college. what he doesn't know is just that very recently, tigris dropped out bc she was too tired, too exhausted of working as an assistant and studying, she couldn't handle it anymore. and she also doesn't know how to tell this to coriolanus either.
imagine that coriolanus is walking down the street, and he's trying to find tigris' apartment, and literally the FIRST THING HE SEES is lucy gray screaming at billy taupe and throwing his things out of the window. coriolanus is a tad bit terrified, but also too curious because WHAT WAS THAT? and plus, lucy gray is as interested in him as he's in her, because she just broke up with billy taupe and she needs new things, she needs to meet new people, who's better than the new guy who doesn't know anything abt the neighbourhood? so lucy gray shows him around (she points to the houses and places, tells him who lives around, the places him and go at) and invites him to the club she plays at, so they can have some fun. but again, coriolanus opens his mouth, AND IT'S SO OVER, after everything with billy taupe she's a master at recognizing the red flags, she'll NOT fall for it again.
(but they do become frenemies and now lucy gray's favorite hobby is slandering him on her free times <3)
LONG LIVE TO THEATRE KIDS, specially those of us who are not from english speaking countries, it's TOUGH for us 😭 I remember back then that I watched hamilton subtitled in brazilian portuguese (when the disney one wasn't out, like, MUCH before than the official one) in a youtube video that ppl from a facebook broadway group uploaded and the name of the video was BASTARDINHO REVOLUCIONÁRIO. tough times, but good times lsklskls bro, back then I wasn't a big fan of burr (I'm ashamed to say I was a hamilton apologist smh), but then I grew up, and ALL OF HIS SONGS ARE SO GOOD??? ALL OF THEM are brilliant, he doesn't have a SINGLE bad song, all of them are so iconic (the room where it happens is the closest we have nowadays to a SLAY villain song). WICKED MY BELOVED (also a wicked snowjanus au would slay SO HARD!!! what is this feeling is THEIRRR song, but more specifically it's SO CORIOLANUSKLSKLSKL he would be there getting flushed and thinking "yk what? I'm like that bc of how much I hate that stupid fucking boy") and CHICAGO IS ALSO SO GOOD, cellblock tango kinda woke up something in me, it was life changing. phantom of the opera is also SO good (needless to say, it's a classic for a REASON), AND YESSSS, THE MOVIE IS AMAZING, I rlly wish it wasn't released during the pandemic bc I'm so sure that if it was released nowadays with ppl being able to go to the movies, it would've been so popular, it deserved so much better 💔
I've heart the song and I LOVED ITTTTT specially bc besides horny hours, idk, there's something abt snowjanus being so "cannibalism as a twisted metaphor for desire and love"-coded and I just love it sm 😭 and yess ofc I still want to hear your recs, even if they're in english!!
also, it's worth saying that I've never recommended a song, so let me do this this time with a snowjanus coded song: lisboa - anavitória. this one drives me INSANE, like, "eu vejo tua cara e teu querer perverso", "diga para mim que é real que eu te prometo o meu melhor", "te quero tanto, é quase dor" AAAAAAA I'M SO NORMAL ABT IT. also, it's worth saying that there's a spanish version called lisboa-madrid with jorge drexler and it's as beautiful
(also AAAA SURE, I'm going to make a post tomorrow to tell abt the last two remaining drivers, I'm so happy you asked abt them 🥹 this time there's a girl, bc, fun fact: F1 is a sport where you can compete regardless of gender, it's just that it's so mysogynistic that we only see female drivers on the main category once in a lifetime BUT we had a few legends like lella lombardi, who was able to get points in the 90s!!!)

Spider Sona?!
Okay so remember that crush f/o... They're not a crush no more. (Stupid, stupid, STUPID man! ...Who's very smart...) And while I do love my boys just loving me as me, I have been enthralled with having my own spider-sona! I apologize to all canon nerds that'll tear this apart but I don't care! It's for fun!
So this reference is after finding out about the Arachno-Humanoid Poly-Multiverse or by the easier name of Spider-verse. (it's a WIP and here is the link to the picrew) But when she's in her own universe, Earth-9612, her look is more of a magical girl style similar to Peni's artstyle (Picrew here, I'll get an outfit ref later) and that's what all her friends/fans/and foes recognize her as!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Rebecca Grace Rozenaria Alias: Arachnaria, Spider-Girl (More commonly) Height: 5" and 1/4 of an inch (Much to her own dismay) Civilian Occupation: Part-time Retail Worker, Part-time student getting a psych and child development degree. Age: 21 (She's been known as Spider-Girl since 19)
Civilian Personality: A sweet and bubbly girl who tends to get over-excited at things. But her sweetness can only go so far. She holds back her sharp wit, sharper tongue, and sarcasm and only uses it with friends OR when people back her in a corner. She's happy to do anything to make others smile but doubts her own importance in such actions.
Hero Personality: Take that sweetness and dial it up to 11, she's willing to do WHATEVER it takes to save the innocent. She'd even go as far as to sacrifice herself to do so (And she has...)
Origins: Instead of getting bit by a radioactive/mutant spider, getting injected with venom, finding a symbiote, or anything like that, she made a pact with an interdimensional arachnid demon! Honestly the whole thing was a blur. All she remembers was that she didn't want to but agreed since she wanted to save her best friends from that fate after they had been messing around with occult artifacts and summoned the demon she calls the Web Weaver. It's not all bad though, this pact has actually granted her some relief. This is because when she is Arachnaria, her condition is easier to manage.
Some details I wanna add:
Due to the mystical ways that she got her powers, her world/timeline works differently. She has seen it die/has sacrificed herself for it several times, only for her to wake up the day after in bed heavily injured but with no other collateral.
She has a complicated relationship with her demon. He gave her powers so that she could become worthy prey for him to hunt. Despite this, he converses with her like an equal and won't let her die?!
Despite her bubbly sweetness, she curses a lot when she feels she can.
She is from New Jersey!
That sharp tongue of hers has also been called venomous by others since when she feels backed into a corner in an argument and can't leave, she has a knack for getting right to a person's sensitive spots in their life. Not in a way meant to hurt them, but in a way that raises a point. She hates doing so, but many say after reconciling it makes them think.
Her best friend, @floweringforgetfulness, and her other best friend Ace (who later becomes Earth-9612's Black Cat) were there with Rebecca at the initial pact, so they can remember events too.
Her half-brother may have been the 'canon' Spider-Man of her world. He may have also died in doing so... This is what others believe is my S/I's 'canon event'. Though her life was never too great beforehand...
Despite her just wanting the best for her world and loved ones, the media can be pretty cruel to her back in her own world. They can tear down her every action, especially when her condition acts up, and even compare her to the 'missing' Spider-Man. She doesn't let it show, but it eats away at her...
It can and has come to a point where she just wanted to quit with everyone telling her so, but never has. (Very much inspired by this song! vvv)

Relationship Dynamics:
Before Miles became Miguel's biggest issue, it was Rebecca. She wasn't a spider person, just a girl with spider magic(?) (He hates that he can't wrap his head around it) He wanted to leave it at that! But, when he kept getting alerts of anomalies from Earth-9612 and being told time and time again that her world vanished/was destroyed but she brought it back... He wants to keep an eye on her.
By the time of ITSV, Rebecca and Miguel have a pretty friendly-seeming relationship. It may seem one-sided to others with Rebecca wasting her sweetness, but they never saw the late-night work conversations that would transform into a place where she encouraged Miguel to mourn and rest, if only mentally.
No one other than Lyla, Peter B, and Jessica Drew dare to suspect anything more than that.
She's very casual about her deaths, even joking about it sometimes. (How she copes) Miguel and her friends don't like it!
She is more than happy to be a listening ear and comforting shoulder to anyone in the Hub! She believes communication of one's feelings goes a long way to help people cope, heal, and just feel better. She also knows how hard it is to do so, so she won't pry but always offer, especially to those who just come from missions.
She not-so-lowkey adopts Miles as like a spider sibling since she can remember when Miguel was on her case! So as she told him "Us anomalies gotta stick together y'know?!"
The rest of Miles' group, aside from Peter B, is a bit hesitant when they know how close Rebecca is to Miguel. But through some assurance from her and Peter B who has seen when she and Miguel used to argue constantly, they warm up to her.
She loves doing graffiti with Miles and shows him her fave spot in her world.
She admires Pavitr's hair since hers is dyed to hell and back. She also asks him to give her tips for a suit redesign to incorporate her own hair into her look. She's also so happy to listen to his gushes about Gayatri and respond in kind with her own girlfriend of nearly 7 years!
With Hobie, she deeply admires his fight against corporate and government greed, not to mention his fashion sense! She's told him many a tale of her time working retail!
With Gwen, Rebecca sees her struggle with her feelings and closeness to others. So even though it very much takes baby-steps, she does her best to show Gwen it's okay to have a life outside of her duty and that being alone with the weight of the world will only crush her.
She LOVES Mayday to death! She's always trying to make the little one laugh and smile! She loves acting silly and will bend over backward for this child. Self-appointed interdimensional spoiling big sis there!
I do have more ideas but just wanna get this out there since I'm hyperfixating! Also, my ship with Miguel will be called: 'A Different Web to Weave' if you need to tag it/block it! I know how a lot of people are loving Miguel right now!
Taglist: @disneymarina @maskedanarchy-ships @singingdeepinme @goldenworldsabound @nyandereneko @canongf @hadesgoddess @violetsandmilk

MULTIMUSE QUESTIONAIRE
RULES: Answer the questions with the Muses that would best fit the answers. Bonus if you give details why. If tagged, copy and paste into a new post – DO NOT REBLOG!
(Since this is a single-muse blog, I'm going to include muses I've played on other blogs. I'm not going to include every muse I've ever written though because 1. it already feels funny talking about muses that 99% of my followers have never seen me write, and 2. some of them were very short-lived. So I'm only including the ones that I've written most or were most significant, plus my newest one that I haven't written yet, since they've been on my mind a lot lately.)
1) Rank your softest Muse and your toughest Muse. (Personality-wise) - Strictly personality-wise, softest to toughest: Ted Logan (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure), Max Caulfield (Life is Strange), Izaya Orihara (Durarara!!), Amaimon (Blue Exorcist), Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen), Negan, Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan.) This is kind of funny though because aside from Ted and Max, none of these characters can really be considered "soft."
2) Which Muse would blow through $1000 quickly? - Gojo. But he's also rich rich, so $1000 is nothing to him. He canonically owns shirts that cost more than that. Aside from him, I think if you gave Ted $1000 he could easily blow it all on music gear and albums pretty quickly lol.
3) Do any of them have nicknames? Is there a meaning behind them? - Negan has been called "Neegs" by a few, but not many can get away with that. "Ted" is short for Theodore, and "Max" is short for Maxine (never call Max by her full name, she hates it.)
4) Are any of them up-to-speed on the latest trends? Anyone more old school? - Ted, Gojo, and Max are most likely to be up-to-speed on trends, but Max appreciates the old school stuff (she prefers analog cameras over digital for her photography, for instance.) Levi and Negan are more old school, though Negan might attempt to learn trends to seem cool to his students/the kids (it rarely works.)
5) Who has the best relationship with their siblings? - Three of them have siblings: Ted, Izaya, and Amaimon. Ted and his little brother probably have the best relationship, at least as kids, though he deals with insecurity and envy as their dad clearly favors his brother. Izaya has two sisters who are twins and about ten years his junior. Their parents were abroad for work so much that he basically raised them, but his bad influence played part in them turning out eccentric. Their relationship is complicated and a bit love/hate. Amaimon has six brothers and a sister. They are all demons (literally, they are children of Satan lol.) He's only seen interacting with one which I interpret him to have a neutral to positive relationship with. I don't see him having a close relationship with any of the others. But I also haven't read or watched the series in years, so I have no idea if more has been revealed.
6) Karaoke night! Who is likely to grab the mic first and bust out a tune? - Ted. Max will join him with some encouragement. Negan if he's had a few drinks.
7) Who is least likely to enter a beauty pageant/model? - Levi (he could actually probably do well as a model, but suggest this and he'll vehemently deny it.) Also Amaimon because he doesn't spend much time on Earth and probably doesn't even know what a beauty pageant is.
8) If your Muses visited a haunted house where actors scare you, who would panic and who would be unfazed? - Ted and Max would be panicking (but they're having a blast.) Levi and Amaimon are unfazed.
9) Are any of your Muses particular about taking certain modes of transportation? - Not really. Max does get nervous about airplanes and Izaya prefers to walk or take a taxi/public transport. Gojo doesn't drive and either takes the train/subway, has his assistant drive him, or teleports/warps short distances since he can do that lol.
10) Share a little-known fact about any Muse. - So I can't really think of anything, but I have twd verses for most of my muses that I never got to use/talk about so I'mma ramble on about little things about them here. Ted - and Bill - were following a band on tour that summer, and were at a music venue in the Atlanta area when the outbreak hit. Bill's dad died saving them the first day, and they and Missy go on to survive traveling around in their RV for a while. Max found an old vintage photography store shortly after the outbreak and took as many packs of polaroid film as she could realistically carry. She continues taking photos, not just to document the new world but to also capture small moments of beauty and happiness within her group. Gojo acts nonchalant about the apocalypse until he loses his best friend to a walker bite, after which he essentially shuts down and locks himself in a room with the (restrained) walker for days, refusing to let anyone in. He even attempts to remove its jaw/hands to keep it with him (kind of like Michonne did), and it wasn't until after that he finally killed it. He puts on a big smile and acts fine, but the unresolved anger and grief come out in spades whenever he goes up against walkers. Izaya and his sisters are in an airport preparing to fly back to Japan when the outbreak hits, and get stranded in the Virginia/DC area. A group takes them in out of pity, despite Izaya giving them the creeps. But when his sisters are eaten in a large walker attack, the group abandons him, and he's presumed dead. Months later, cue The Saviors showing up with Izaya at Negan's side as one of his lieutenants. Surprise! Levi meets up with his uncle, the only family he has, when the outbreak happens. It doesn't take long for them to start butting heads morally - his uncle is much quicker to warm up to the idea of stealing and killing. But they stick together until they're separated while fighting a horde, and Levi's been on his own ever since, unsure if he's alive. He's eventually taken in by Alexandria, but has a hard time adjusting. I don't have anything set for Amaimon, but he's naturally violent and off-putting and very likely ends up with the Whisperers or becomes a cannibal or something lol.
tagged by: @wexarethewalkingxdead tagging: @esoterium @survivoirs @chitteringbeast and anyone else that'd like to do this (y'all are the only active mutuals I know that have multiple muses and weren't already tagged I don't think??)

If I have to answer, then so do you. ~~~ : P
What ships are you not interested in writing?
Yeah, I gave you quite a hot-button question, didn't I? This will be a long one.
Now, there a few categories of ships I won't do because they make me uncomfortable. First would be incest ships (such as ItaSasu or NejiHina,) including step-family. Second would be teacher/student (such as KakaNaru or KakaSaku) ships, or at least when they are still teacher and student. A lot of ultra-taboo ships turn me off, though I am strangely not bothered by boss/employee stuff.
I also won't do adult/minor, but I am willing to age characters up to be adults for a story. I even did that once for a fanfic.
As for specific ships that aren't for personal discomfort reasons, I can name a few.
First, I probably won't do Obito/Nagato or Obito/Konan with the exception of AUs where Obito stops trying to do Infinite Tsukuyomi. Something about canon Obito's dynamic with Nagato and Konan (as tools for his plan) doesn't appeal to me from a shipping point of view.
Honestly, I'm not into most Nagato ships that aren't with Konan and/or Yahiko. I just feel like his personality post-Yahiko's death, isn't conducive to shipping with many characters outside of them. before Yahiko's death, I'd just pair him with Yahiko and/or Konan because I love shipping Ame Orphans. If I had a cool OC idea or shipped Nagato/Itachi in a canon divergent AU (rcrisdraws on tumblr has awesome NagaIta art.)
Next, I won't do TobiDei because I think that while Tobi and Deidara's interactions are funny, I can't picture them dating each other. Also, the idea of Obito doing the Tobi voice in romantic scenes is off-putting. I haven't cared for the TobiDei stuff I've read, which was mostly silly stuff on tumblr TBF. On a similar note, I probably won't do SasoDei just because part of me head canons Sasori as AroAce, but I am less opposed to writing it.
I have no plans to write most Danzo or Orochimaru ships because those two give me rancid vibes romantically. Maybe Orochimaru/Jiraiya could be neat, but I have no plans to write that one.
For Hinata ships, since you are a Hinata fan, I have absolutely zero interest in Raikage/Hinata, Hiruzen/Hinata, Nagato/Hinata, Madara/Hinata, or Kabuto/Hinata.
Other ships: SasuKarin, SasuSaku, and SasuIno because those dynamics feel really one-sided; Deidara/Kurotsuchi because I prefer a sibling-like dynamic (though I don't HC them as related)

HELLO
ivan, chuuya, fukuchi, tetchou, AAAAND
yosano
HELLO!!!!!!!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE LONG ivan goncharov first impression: oh how did fyodor fuck you up (did not know/realize he was lobotomized either) impression now: ohh he's my silly. his english dub voice gives me gender envy. i like his eyes. he is weirdly a well-written lobotomized guy. i looked into actual lobotomy for you favorite moment: his entire fight scene was good and more people should talk about it. signed yours truly me idea for a story: primarily? a general character study, however, - bubble bath. it is a character study with him and shibusawa. not set in canon - highschool au. he deserves to be a normal highschool student. he would swear a sweater vest. i will die on this hill unpopular opinion: his character is really fucking good and yes his ability's name is on the nose but i hope we see him again. i don't like shipping him in canon though bc he can't. Consent. Fyovan should not exist. also i think more people should be paying attention to the bsd side characters favorite relationship: shibuvan/shibusawa x ivan and you know it. my #1 comfort ship in my heart. they are so cute <3 favorite headcanon: he has tics and freckles. also sometimes i like making him trans the others are below v
chuuya nakahara first impression: oh he's cool impression now: I WANT TO BE YOU YOUR CHARACTER IS SO COOL GIVE ME YOUR GENDER YOUR CHARACTER SCRATCHES MY BRAIN YOUR ABILITY IS SO COOL. I AM NOT NORMAL. favorite moment: THE HELICOPTER SCENE OH MY GODD idea for a story: i have many! - hirotsu visits him during a stormy night and he's suffering w chronic pains but hirotsu gets him his meds. they get to talk a little. they are silly to me - summer camp au w dazai they are at war constantly - i have too many, but to briefly summarize the rest: fan dancer and kitsune au, meiji era/period au, chuuya and kouyou fic/character study, there will be more after i read stormbringer unpopular opinion: he probably doesn't have anger issues. might just be agitated easily or because of dazai. also people need to stop getting his character soo wrong because the amount of mischaracterization that surrounds that man is NOT funny favorite relationship: people sleep on his and hirotsu's possible dynamic. next one is well. okay. it's obvious, but soukoku, i just like their dynamic whether it's romantic or not. absolute menaces. shoutout to kunichuuzai also, but i honestly cannot ship that man all the time. bonus platonic relationships i really like is the idea of tetchou and chuuya becoming good fucking friends. let chuuya have so many friends to make up for the ones he's lost favorite headcanon(s): freckles chuuya, lightning scars chuuya, nonbinary chuuya (i dont use they/them for them all the time but i am a believer in it), chronic pains, autistic, metal/rock (the song genre) lover, sanrio and ocean life special interest, also demisexual/demiromantic !! sorry they have the most. favoritism is showing fukuchi ochi
first impression: oh doesn't he kill everybody's faves. meh impression now: YOUR CHARACTER AND WRITING IS SO OVERLOOKED. YOU ARE DAD MATERIAL AND THAT SCARES ME BUT IM ALSO :D ABOUT IT favorite moment: the entire fucking fight he has with atsushi and akutagawa. you don't understand he was both terrifying and also that gave me an actual adrenaline rush once i watched it in the anime. the music was so good. also the scene w aya !! idea for a story: the main one is a fukufuku fic where it goes through how overtime, fukuzawa in fukuchi's eyes is more like a wolf than a human being. it's his way of making it hurt less when he has to hurt him. i cant remember any others, but i hope there will be more unpopular opinion: can the fandom not hate on him so much lmao i dont mind seeing people dislike him that's valid but like. give him a chance i swear. he also can be trusted with children favorite relationship: him and fukuzawa's (romantically or platonically idrc). holy shit. holy shit. holy shi- also bonus shoutout to him and ranpo's!! it is not shown a lot but augh. of course i love his relationship with the hunting dogs too but fukufuku sits at the top favorite headcanon: hm. i can't think of any rn tetchou suehiro
first impression: AUTISTIC impression now: AUTISTIC favorite moment: them and kenji's fight >>>>> idea for a story: they are a samurai and they meet jouno along the way. they stay with fukuchi after having a rough run-in with an innkeeper and some people who are after them. they smell like blossoms unpopular opinion: i wish people wrote them beating up people more they're literally one of the strongest characters (physically specifically) of bsd favorite relationship: them and jouno's is peak favorite headcanon: asexual and nonbinary tetchou for the win. my most favorite one of all time though is them being half-taiwanese :] akiko yosano (surprise???)
first impression: please be well written. impression now: she is so cool!! i wish she had more screentime but oh my god she is so cool <33333 she is fun in the manga and i love her so much favorite moment: her backstory i wanna say. we don't get too much content of her but damn her backstory hits hard. it adds so much to her character and i love her a lot idea for a story: she and fukuzawa go shopping together. i think she also deserves some fics w fukuzawa. they have a fun time !! unpopular opinion: not a fan of kousano favorite relationship: her and ranpo's. siblings your honor, absolute siblings, ALSO THAT ONE SCENE IN HER BACKSTORY WHERE HE KNEELS DOWN TO HER AND SHES CRYING AND SJJSDHHFBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA favorite headcanon: aro/ace yosano is cool. very cool. aro/ace yosano.? holds her out to you. Consider

Any felix crumbs? SFW, NSFW, whatever you prefer, i'm about to climb on the walls i miss him so much
Can't believe we started this hiatus with another Felix death I miss him so much QnQ
SFW here, NSFW under the cut, I have Felix things in my drafts!! I'll get to them eventually!!! I am so bad at keeping a steady work pace!!!!!
Someone said that Felix's accent is close to a British accent and I'm gonna agree! I'm thinking a royal accent for him. Also I just think him using British idioms would be funny so
He likes butterflies and moths! Taxidermies them! Usually after Stella hunts them down
He reads out loud sometimes,, does voices for the different characters,,,, nerd
Likes operas and musicals! Tried to bring Anisa and Sage once and long story short they both got banned from the concessions.
Hums while he works/studies.
Imagine like,, his old school asks him to come in to give like,, an alumni speech,,,, Escell probably makes him go,,,,,,,,,, does not help with his self-esteem that ask these people he graduated with when on to be important and powerful mages and he's just,, like,,, over here. His advice for the students basically boils down to 'be gay and do crimes'
Honestly I think that's just his life motto in general
Totally uses magic to get out of chores. Real Sorcerer Mickey-esque shit. That time Sage got stabbed with an enchanted broom? That was all Felix.
Actually I don't remember what the canon response Sage gave to that was so maybe it was canonically Felix???
Maybe it's because I'm listening to Pinball Wizard but,, idk I'm not saying he'd be good at pinball but I am saying he'd enjoy it
Stella catches mice and gives them to Felix,, Felix feeds them to random owls that show up at his window (who are attracted by his magic),,,,,, he just has owl friends now. Names them all. At least one is named Bernard
He would totally listen to Harry Styles
Is always cold,, walks between Sage and Anisa because they're warm
He and Tulsi have a Short Alliance. Aka a any time Sage bullies one of them for being short the other has to roast him for something.
Used to make his family mud pies and would cry if they didn't eat them. Escell and Scylla wisely just pretended to eat them. Florian ingested so much dirt,,,,,
Does he use an eye mask when he sleeps?I'm gonna say yes. A silk one.
Okay so he cast a translation spell on us at one point so,, like,,, cast a translation spell on Sage and Anisa to make it so they couldn't understand each other. No real reason why. He just likes tormenting them. Good for you babe.
Tumblr media
Silk underwear? Silk restraints? Yes
Giggles a lot when he feels good, especially when cumming. He tries to muffle it but,, does not do a convincing job of that
Would read 50 Shades but mostly to laugh at it
Monster fucker monster fucker monster fucker!!! If Rime was corrupted Felix was 10/10 fuck him
Felix,, has,,, helped Rime on his heat before,,,,,, he talks about it like he's a veteran describing a battle, with the thousand-yard stare and everything, but really he uh,,, yeah it was a good experience for him
Probably has a higher libido than anyone gives him credit for!!
Not the best at dirty talk. Sorry. Very good at praise tho

out of curiosity do you think that hatsume would have a chance of beating anyone in the sports festival if she didn’t intentionally throw her first match? for the sake of this argument, whether or not her opponent takes her support items depends on what you think the character would do (iirc i’ve seen the concept that shinsou would go along with her shenanigans in one of your posts, which i found very amusing to think about XD)
For the sake of this, I'm not going to consider her opponents taking her equipment. Because if she gave them some equipment with the explicit purpose of undermining them like that, I'm not sure if that would fly and could hurt her in the eyes of investors. Plus, that's a trick that can only work once, if at all.
Tumblr media
I think she would do well enough but not really have any chance to get near the top. Let's consider Mei's role and overall skills. As a support student, it is her job to understand other students and their Quirks to make equipment. In a brief period of time, she was able to make gear that was perfectly suited for Iida. Since she couldn't possibly know she was going to fight him, she couldn't have made that before the tournament. This is supported considering she was able to build up high grade equipment in a matter of moments while working with limited supplies during the UA Traitor Arc. In that regard, I think she could make some potential counters for some of the other students, namely those with obvious weaknesses to exploit in simple ways. This would be in addition to other equipment she brought with her, such as the flight boots, net gun, and electromagnetic bracers. So I think most of her strategy would be dodging until she could use her equipment.
The most obvious one is Denki. She could make some lighting rod or insulated blanket to protect herself and then capture him. Uraraka can't really get close enough to use her power, and Mei isn't destructive enough to change the terrain for Uraraka's advantage, making her an easy target. Tetsutetsu and Kirishima's straight-forward attack would be simple to avoid and plan around. She could get Kirishima in a net or with some other tool, and she could even repurpose the electromagnetic boots into some tool to help deal with Tetsutetsu. She can have items that can cut or burn through Sero's tape or Ibara's vines if they ever tie her up, though Ibara's cover might be an issue. Aoyama is hard to guess as well. Because I think his attacks are fast enough to break her equipment, but I think she could have some reflective material to stop them, like a mirror buckler. Mina could burn through her equipment, as I doubt she could get the same material Mina uses to acid proof her materials. Maybe if she made a hose to spray water at the acid?
That being said, there are a lot of students who could stop her. Mei's scatterbrained nature and love of talking would make her an easy target for Shinso to brainwash. Momo's creations are too unpredictable to plan around, and her own intelligence could let her out prepare Mei. Tokoyami is too quick and aggressive to really stop. Even with some light devices, I don't think she can do enough damage to stop Dark Shadow. She was able to work around Iida in canon, but that's only because the support equipment threw him off. If he wanted to, I'm certain he could Recipro Burst her out of the ring. Bakugou and Shoto have similar issues in that they are too strong to plan around in such a short time, Shoto with his overwhelming power and Bakugou with his amazing combat abilities. And while she could easily make something to stop a normal Izuku, I think his own ingenuity and raw power output could work around that if it came down to it. Overall, she has decent chances against half the students, but the rest of the competition is too stiff to work past. Not bad for a girl who can't even use her Quirk in this fight.

Tori vs Dosu: Words of a Traitor's Daughter
Fandom: Naruto Rating: T Pairing: None (yet) Word Count: 3.7k Warnings: Canon-typical violence, OC centric, mild language
A/N: Tori finally gets a moment to shine! 🎉 This is her battle from the Chunin Exam preliminaries against Dosu from the Sound Village.
So, while there is no romance here, this is the first time both Lee and Gaara saw Tori. Obviously, she leaves a lasting impression on them both, even if they don't know it yet.
Due to its place in the timeline, Lee gets a little more favored since Gaara is currently their enemy. But don't worry, Gaara will get his chance soon enough.
Tori's match takes place after Shikamaru and Kin's, and before Naruto and Kiba's.
All right, I believe that's all the housekeeping announcements. Enjoy!
~
Tumblr media
Tori’s eyes locked on the screen as the remaining names flashed in quick succession. Half of the genin were left to compete in the preliminary round, herself included. The odds that she would go next were growing greater and greater. She smoothed her purple hair, making sure no loose strands of hair had escaped her braid.
Nearby, the boy in the green jumpsuit - Rock Lee, age 13, Leaf Village, skills unknown, loud and annoying, not a threat - clenched his fists. “Come on!” he shouted. “Let me go next! It has been so long!”
Kyo, Tori’s teammate who was also awaiting his turn, snorted. “What a dumbass,” he said. “Actually wanting to go?”
Tori couldn’t disagree.
“Maybe he’s got a death wish,” Takeshi, her other teammate, said.
“You’re one to talk,” Kyo said. “That Kabuto guy wasn’t even trying. You got lucky.”
The screen finally froze, and all eyes turned upward to see the two names.
Dosu Kinuta
vs.
Tori Kawasaki
Tori’s mind whirled as she looked across the room at her new opponent. Sound Village, age unknown, uses soundwaves from the speaker on his arm, quiet, moderate threat. Her mouth thinned, but otherwise her expression remained unchanged.
Kyo clasped her shoulder. “You got this, Tori.”
Tori nodded, but didn’t reply. She merely started walking along the railing towards the stairs.
Lee groaned in dismay, staring at the screen as Tori approached. “I am never going to get to go!”
“Don’t sweat it, Lee!” Might Guy, Lee’s sensei, said before giving his student a thumbs up. “Your time will come! For now, think of this as an opportunity to study your future opponents.”
Lee perked up immediately. “Ah yes, right you are, Guy-sensei!”
Tori rolled her eyes. She tried to step around Lee, but he and his sensei were taking up too much space. She lifted her hand, trying to get their attention, but they didn’t notice her in between their loud declarations about “youth”.
Naruto squinted up at the board. “But who the heck are those two? I don’t know either of ‘em.”
“Well, Dosu Kinuta is that guy, from the Sound,” Sakura said, pointing at the boy currently making his way down to the area from the other side. “But I don’t know the other one.”
Neji, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, huffed.
Lee frowned at him. “Do you know who that is, Neji?”
Neji looked past Lee, his pale eyes boring into Tori’s. “She’s the one trying to get past you, Lee.”
Lee immediately whirled around, his expression immediately apologetic. “I am so sorry,” he said, stepping out of the way before bowing to her.
Tori shook her head, her hands folded and her head held high as she passed through the gauntlet of other genin, ignoring the eyes watching her descend to the ground level.
Shikamaru groaned from above her. “Great. Another loss for the Leaf.”
Kyo and Takeshi both snickered quietly. Shikamaru gave them a peculiar look.
“How can you say that?” Lee demanded indignantly. “The fight has not yet begun!”
“I can say that because I have eyes, dummy.”
Tori sighed, then took her spot across from Dosu and sized him up. They shared the same eye level, but that was because Dosu was hunched over under his straw raincoat. Tori estimated that Dosu had a good ten centimeters on her should he choose to stand at his full height. His bandages hid most of his expression, with the exception of a single eye, which peered at her with the same level of analysis that she was employing. His aura was darker, his build more menacing. Compared to her thinner, more frail appearance, Dosu looked like an impossible opponent.
Hayate took his spot nearby, looking between the two opponents. “Do either of you have any objections?”
“None,” Dosu replied.
Tori shook her head.
“Very well,” Hayate said. “Then if you’re ready, begin.”
Dosu’s eye narrowed. “You should really rethink this match, little girl,” he said. “If you don’t surrender now, I can’t promise you’ll walk away from here.”
Tori didn’t reply. Instead, she pulled her glasses from her face and cleaned them on her shirt.
She could hear the murmurs from above as soon as she did so. One of the Sand ninjas, the one in all black - Kankuro, Sand Village, age unknown, puppet user, arrogant, moderate threat - said, “She couldn’t clean her glasses before she got down there?”
“Shut up, Kankuro,” said another, the one with the raspy voice this time.
Gaara, age unknown, Sand Village, skills unknown, creepy, threat level unknown.
“There’s no point in cleaning those,” Dosu remarked. “Unless you forfeit, I’m just going to break them anyway.”
Tori just resettled the glasses on her face and looked at Dosu, waiting.
“Nothing to say, huh?” Dosu said. “All right, let’s see what you can do, little girl.”
With that he charged at her, the Sound Reflecting Speaker on his arm hoisted and ready.
~
Lee watched anxiously as Tori gracefully leapt out of the way of Dosu’s punch. His worries proved correct when she suddenly recoiled, her hands clasping her ears before a trickle of blood ran down from each. He unconsciously rubbed his own ears, remembering just how badly Dosu’s attack had affected him out in the Forest. He hoped she would be all right.
Nearby, her two teammates cheered for her. “Kick his ass, Tori!” Kyo called down.
“Yeah!” Takeshi added. “Show this guy what the Leaf is made of!”
Neji scoffed, once again catching Lee’s attention. “Neji, do you know this girl?” Lee asked him.
“Not personally,” Neji replied. “But I’m aware of who she is.”
“Who is she?” Sakura asked, looking at him curiously.
Something shifted in the air as she asked the question. All of the jonin present, even Might Guy, looked a little graver. Sakura looked up at Kakashi, worried. “Did…I say something wrong?”
“No, you didn’t,” a nearby voice said. Genma pushed himself off his spot on the wall, joining the other ninja with a grim smile on his face. “It’s just not a very nice story is all.”
“She’s one of yours, isn’t she, Genma?” Kurenai asked.
“Sure is,” Genma replied, twirling the senbon in his mouth. “So I hope you don’t mind if I interject.”
“Not at all,” Kakashi said.
“Why does it matter who she is?” Kyo said, looking over in annoyance. “She’s from our village. That’s what’s important right now.”
“I wouldn’t say so,” Neji interjected.
Genma gave him a withering look, but Neji just looked back, unimpressed.
“If you know something, just spit it out and don’t leave us in suspense,” Shikamaru said.
“I’m surprised you don’t know, Shikamaru, given your father’s position,” Neji replied. “Tori Kawasaki is the daughter of one of the Leaf’s most notorious traitors.”
Lee’s stomach dropped. Of all of the things he’d expected to hear, that wasn’t one of them. Around him, the other genin looked exactly the same, with varying looks of shock on their faces.
“The daughter of a traitor?” Ino repeated, horrified.
Kakashi sighed. “Yes. Her father was Shiranami Chikara. He deserted the Leaf village about seven years ago, and on his way, he took the lives of several prominent shinobi with him. Many at the time thought Tori and her mother must have known something ahead of time, or done something to help orchestrate his departure, so they were branded traitors along with him. That’s long since been disproven, but even so, many still associate Tori with him.”
“But she had nothing to do with that!” Lee said. “She is here fighting for our village! How could people call her a traitor when she did nothing?”
“I know, I know,” Kakashi said, putting his hands up. “Believe me, I’m aware of how ridiculous it is for a child to inherit the weight of a parent’s sins. But for other people, it’s a lot harder to see that.”
“Exactly,” Genma said. “And that’s why I don’t want to hear that bullshit from any of you.” He twirled his senbon meaningfully as he stared down Neji. “She’s heard it more than enough.”
Lee’s hands clamped the railing tightly, forming dents in the metal as rage burned within him. “You can do it, Tori!” he called down, watching her push herself back to her feet. “Show that guy what a true shinobi of the Leaf can do!”
For the briefest of moments, Tori’s sapphire eyes flicked upward, peering up at him through her rounded glasses before refocusing on her battle.
~
Across the room, the Sand shinobi watched the fight with varying levels of apathy. Temari declared the match over as soon as she saw Tori descending the stairs and leaned against the wall, bored. Kankuro expressed surprise that the match had lasted this long and lamented not having a snack to enjoy the show with. Baki hadn’t verbally expressed an opinion, but was watching the match with a skeptical expression, clearly indicating he agreed with Temari’s assessment.
Meanwhile Gaara, as silent as a stone, watched the match with his arms folded. He didn’t have a horse in this race. The Leaf girl was an outright enemy, and while the Sound and Sand currently had an alliance, that was of little importance to Gaara. No matter who did what today, they would all eventually become bloody mist within his grains of sand.
But unlike his fellow shinobi, he was more skeptical about the outcome of the match currently unfolding.
He had of course noticed the contempt she received from her own village, with the exception of the most annoying boys the Leaf village had within its ranks, especially the one in all green. He also noticed the differences between Tori and her opponent, with his initial thoughts being parallel to those around him, that Tori would lose very quickly.
But then he’d noticed something else. In spite of seemingly overwhelming odds against her, she wasn’t afraid. Her demeanor was calm and controlled, her eyes studying Dosu with a frightening level of analysis. She was taking attacks, yes, but she also seemed to be watching, waiting, for something.
That meant that she had a trick of some kind up her sleeve. Something she clearly thought would give her the edge in battle. Something that gave her enough confidence to look at her seemingly-favored opponent and think she could still win.
So Gaara reserved his judgment. He merely watched the battle unfold, eyes narrowing as Tori rubbed her ears in pain from another sound attack, waiting for her to unleash whatever she was withholding.
~
Dosu’s eyes narrowed as he leapt back, taking a moment to study Tori as they both caught their breath. “Interesting,” he commented. “I used the same attack on you as I did on that other guy with glasses. But while his lenses shattered almost instantly, yours are still intact. Why is that?”
Tori stayed silent, answering his query with a shrug.
“You really don’t like to talk, do you?” Dosu said. “It’s almost like we’re opposites in a way. I wield sound, and you wield silence.” He brandished his arm. “But I bet if I hit you in just the right way, you’ll still make a sound.”
Tori’s eyes narrowed. She assumed a fighting stance, one hand curled behind her back, the other in front beckoning Dosu forward.
Dosu accepted her challenge. He swung his arm forward as he charged, unleashing a devastating wave of sound across the arena. Tori turned just in time, covering her eyes and ears with her fingers as the wave hit her. She flew across the room, colliding with the wall with a sickening crack.
Above her, she heard several of the genin groan. “Pathetic,” she heard someone say.
Then she heard Lee’s voice cut through the rest. “Get up, Tori!”
She looked back up to the upper level. Lee was precariously leaning over the railing, his dark eyes boring into hers.
“You cannot let him win so easily!” he called down. “Show him your true strength as a shinobi of the Leaf!”
He was still very loud, but his earnest support touched something in Tori. She smiled at him in response, winking one eye.
Lee fell silent, looking down at her with wide eyes.
Tori gritted her teeth, then forced herself to her feet. She felt the world tilt slightly as she stood, and she put her hand on the wall to help her balance.
“Honestly, if you’re not even going to fight back, I don’t see a point in continuing this,” Dosu said. “It’s often said that the shinobi who moves second loses. But you haven’t made a move at all, so how can you expect to win?”
Tori lifted her head. Slowly, she brought her hand in front of her, her index finger pointed at Dosu.
“So you can do something after all,” Dosu said. “All right, let’s see it.”
Tori’s finger moved, drawing a character in the air. She then whispered, “Bind.”
The character suddenly glowed before zooming across the room. It collided with Dosu’s chest, then spread out across his body like chains. Dosu let out a startled grunt and tried to force his arms free, but the word’s grip only tightened.
Around the room, the skeptical looks and comments instantly died away. The only sound was from Naruto, who shouted, “What the heck was that?!”
Dosu glared at her through his bandages. “What an interesting jutsu,” he commented. “It’s not one I’ve ever seen before.”
Tori ignored him, retrieving a kunai from her hip pouch.
“Enlighten me,” Dosu said. “Why did you not use this jutsu before? It’s certainly more effective than just trying to avoid my attacks.”
Tori glared at him, but remained silent as she advanced on him, kunai at the ready.
Dosu glared right back. “I know you’re capable of speech. You spoke just now when you activated your jutsu.” When Tori still didn’t speak, Dosu continued, “Fine. If you won’t make a sound, then I will.”
The speaker on his arm began to vibrate violently, producing a sound that caused even the spectators to cover their ears. Tori leapt back, putting as much space between herself and Dosu as possible. She tried to concentrate on maintaining her jutsu, but the character flickered and faded as the sound grew louder. Dosu strained against his bonds, then tore through them with a loud grunt. “There, that’s better.” He stretched out his shoulders. “I must say, I’m disappointed. Such an impressive jutsu does nothing in the hands of someone so weak.”
Tori’s eyes narrowed. She covered her ears, waiting for Dosu to make another move.
Dosu studied her hands, unimpressed. “That won’t help you, little girl.” He charged at her once more. “Even if you cover your ears, I can still make the sound reach them.”
His fist collided with her stomach. The air instantly vaporized from her chest with a quiet gasp, and she hunched over, clinging to his arm.
Dosu chuckled quietly. The speaker began to vibrate, readying for another powerful soundwave. “It’s over, little girl.”
And then Tori lifted her hand, drawing a new character right above his arm.
“Explode.”
Dosu’s eye widened in shock as a bright light formed between them. He tried to leap away, but the light consumed the arena with a loud boom, filling the space with smoke. He rolled back several feet, his clothes smoking.
When the dust settled, Tori stood unscathed, a glowing “shield” surrounding her.
Before Dosu had time to recover, Tori charged forth. This time, Dosu was the one who flew into the wall as Tori’s foot collided with his face. Dosu let out a pained shout before crumpling to the floor. He pushed himself up, swinging his arm forward.
But, as the speaker vibrated, cracks spiderwebbed out from the holes before it shattered completely.
Tori smiled as Dosu stared at the shattered remains of his weapon. She then drew another character in the air. “Bind.”
The glowing chains once again wrapped around Dosu. Tori crossed the room in the blink of an eye, bringing her heel down on Dosu’s head and sending him crashing to the ground.
Dosu groaned, his eye closing before he slumped back against the wall.
Tori backed away as Hayate approached, waiting as he inspected Dosu. Then Hayate stood back up. “This match is over,” he declared. “Winner, Tori Kawasaki.”
Tori bowed to him, then turned towards the stairs.
“Wait.”
Tori glanced back as Dosu tilted his head up at her. “How…” he muttered. “Did someone as weak as you…beat me?”
“I prefer not to waste words on those who don’t deserve it.”
Dosu’s eye widened. Above her, she could hear the murmured reactions. She supposed they were surprised she could speak more than a single word at a time.
“You should watch what you say, little girl,” Dosu replied. “Your words might come back to haunt you later.”
Feeling tired, Tori turned away, ignoring Dosu’s threat as she returned to the upper level.
~
“Unbelievable,” Kankuro said. “Who would have thought that pipsqueak was packing that much power?”
Gaara’s eyes narrowed. “Idiot,” he growled.
“What?” Kankuro asked. “Don’t tell me you knew.”
Gaara’s eyes slid over, a warning glint within them. “If you had used your eyes, you would have known,” he said.
Baki gave Gaara a curious look. “What do you mean, Lord Gaara?”
Gaara returned his gaze to Tori as she ascended to the platform across from him. “She was never afraid at any point during her match. Not once, not even when the Sound shinobi landed his attacks. She knew what she was doing.”
“So you’re saying she was in control from the start,” Temari said. She smirked. “Interesting. I hope we get paired in the next round. I might actually get to have some fun.”
The sand rattled in Gaara’s gourd. Not if I get her first.
~
Lee cheered even louder than Tori’s teammates as she climbed back onto their platform. “Well done!” he said, giving her a thumbs up. “Congratulations on an excellent fight.”
Tori peered at him curiously, but only said, “Thank you.”
Genma nodded at her. “He’s right, you did very well,” he said. “You should be proud.”
Tori bowed. “Thank you, sensei.”
“I gotta ask,” Shikamaru piped up. “How’d you pull that off? We all thought you were done for.”
Shikamaru Nara, age 12, Leaf Village, high tactical skills, very lazy, moderate threat.
“You’re the smart one,” Tori remarked as she passed him. “Figure it out.”
Shikamaru scoffed, but then Hayate called for the next names to be drawn, and everyone’s attention was once again diverted, giving Tori a moment to breathe. Naruto erupted in a cheer moments later, followed by Kiba laughing and saying he’d won the lottery. Tori shook her head as she watched the boys race down to the lower level, then sat down, grateful for the chance to rest her aching muscles.
Lee groaned and leaned over the railing next to her, looking dejected. “I am going to die of old age before it is my turn!”
Tori peered up at him quietly, contemplating whether to say something. But the memory of Lee cheering her on during her match made up her mind. “Your name’s Lee, right?”
He looked down at her in surprise, then joined her on the ground. “Yes, that is me.”
“Thank you for your encouragement during my match,” Tori said. “But…why did you do that? You aren’t my teammate.”
“Perhaps not,” Lee said. “But that should not matter. You are one of us.” He grinned at her, light reflecting off of his teeth. “So of course I will cheer you on!”
Tori turned, strands of purple hair that had escaped her braid falling in front of her face. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“Do not mention it,” he said, giving her a thumbs up. “I only hope that you will do the same for me when it is finally my turn!”
“Of course,” Tori murmured. “It’s the least I can do.”
Rock Lee, age 13, Leaf Village, skills unknown, annoying kind, not a threat.
“Your tactics were most impressive indeed,” Lee went on. “You shall be a splendid shinobi once the Exams are over.”
A sincere chuckle escaped Tori’s lips. “Thank you,” she said. “But I promise, it wasn’t anything too special. Just simple observation.”
Lee looked at her curiously.
“I’ve had my eye on the Sound shinobi since before the First Exam,” Tori explained. “And all of them have clearly mastered whichever jutsu they specialize in. But all of them also showed a glaring weakness. They only ever used one jutsu apiece. After seeing all of them in multiple battles, my hypothesis was that those jutsus were the only ones they could use at all. During my battle, once I was sure that I was right, I simply disabled the means with which he could use that jutsu, and the battle was mine.”
Lee’s mouth fell open. After several seconds, he said, “Forgive me, I must correct my earlier statement.”
Tori frowned.
“When I said you would become a splendid shinobi, I was mistaken,” Lee said. “You already are one, Tori Kawasaki.”
Tori sat in silence for several seconds as warmth pooled within her. “You are very kind to say that,” she said, closing her hand over her heart.
Lee grinned at her, and she offered him a small smile in return.
Then her hair stood up on the back of her neck. A chill crept down her spine. It felt as if someone else was watching her, someone with ill intent. Frowning, she looked around the room, but everyone else was focused on Kiba and Naruto, rolling their eyes as the two boys yelled at each other in between blows.
Then she looked down. Hovering next to her shoulder was a small eye with a seafoam colored pupil. Alarmed, she swatted at it as if it were a fly. It disintegrated at once, turning into sand before vanishing through the air. She blinked several times at the empty space, wondering if she’d imagined it.
Then she looked up, and she immediately knew the source.
Even from across the room, Gaara was laser focused on her, his arms crossed. As their gazes met, his eyes narrowed, as if he was already challenging her to a match. His fingers twitched, and she could just barely make out something floating in the air around him.
In spite of the hot summer day, she shivered, hoping she hadn’t somehow just made a mortal enemy.

Okay so mixed reviews on the kung fu trio movie. Let's break it down
FIRST.
#1 biggest problem with this movie was their treatment of Ben, especially in flashbacks. I think they blew the "anger issue" thing way out of proportion (ESPECIALLY with the part of the timeline they were working with. On god) and also used that to make him like a "sassy" stereotype or whatever. Like guys thats racist come on. This came out in 2021 we are trying to DEstereotype people why are you applying new ones to characters who already had a stereotyping problem. Oh my god.
Anyways yeah I'll just say in general as a big Ben fan I don't think this movie was really fair to him in that sense, although there are a few moments I do like with him, such as most of the Broze Tiger montage, or when he comforts his student outside his dojo. Also mixed bag on him using 70s slang I think there are times where it was fun and worked and also times where it played into the above which 😡
ALSO on the topic of the 70s!!!!! I LOVED the fact that this movie was set in the 70s and that was acknowledged with style and slang and everything. I thought that was so fun (the sideburns omg) and after seeing it set that way I literally couldn't imagine a movie with them existing that wasn't set then. Like it's literally their era and the era of their genre.
Also all of the KFT had crippling depression, anger, and guilt complexes post 70s so there def would have been issues involved w that
Speaking again about the 70s, I feel like a lot of the other problems I had with the movie could have been solved by taking more plot elements from their precrisis comic.
Like these are more comic accuracy critiques but like why would you have there be a cursed sword (named soul breaker. That's literally two letters off from soultaker like could you be less subtle when ripping off other characters) when you could just be creative and use stuff from the O'Neil series instead. Like the O-Sensei gave Richard Dragon the Dragon's Claw so just have that be your artifact. Or if they really wanted a weapon for Shiva to be the Guardian of just make up a dagger that the Dragon's Claw could combine with and have both get stolen. Like I think there were better ways that plot could have been done.
Also speaking of Shiva I was really bummed that there were 0 Carolyn mentions in this movie, especially when the opportunity was RIGHT THERE. like they literally had a fellow student get killed in flashback to open the demon gate or whatever and instead of having it be Carolyn, for some reason it's Jade Nguyen instead (what is with DC adaptations and randomly inserting Jade with character groups she's not a part of??????). The only good thing from that decision was the absolutely hilarious moment of Jade accusing Shiva of not having what it takes to kill. Like BABE do you know who you are talking to. Most wrong anyone has ever been.
No but like I think killing (or even mentioning) Carolyn would have been a way better choice for the movie, especially in terms of Sandra. Especially because they were trying to do a "Shiva has changed, she's not the girl you knew" thing post-flashback. Like Carolyn's death would have been a PERFECT reason for this. To be fair, it would have made this movie super dark and pretty gory because post Carolyn Shiva is NOT to be fucked with ever but like they were already having people be murdered barehanded (with blood) and mild cursing so like they should have gone for it.
Side note: who was the target audience for these movies??? Like it's animated so you think younger but there's lots of violence and straight up murder by the protagonists (with gore) so like I don't even know.
Anyways yeah they should have killed Carolyn. OR had Shiva's blood relation to the O-Sensei be a thing still. Like listen. If you are going to make a movie based on a 70s comic like don't be afraid to take plot elements from that. Like ik the og comic has been made non-canon like twice by now but who cares. When was the last time the KFT backstory was actually talked about anyways? 2008? Just go for it bro. Make them related for extra drama and also legacy stuff. Shiva his (grand-niece? goddaughter? Idk) being his pride and joy but turning against his legacy into one of violence and blood which Richard, his psuedo-son (at least here. I don't remember the details of their og relationship) instead begins to rise and fill that instead.
Also I think they could have highlighted this shift in terms of Shiva's name. Ben and Richard are really the only people (besides Carolyn, rip Carolyn) she's Sandra to, so I think having her go by that at while training (which they called Nanda Parbat or smth similar btw which ????????? No???????) Would have made her shift into Shiva more meaningful, and their kind of denial of this transofrmation as well, as they continue to call her Sandra occasionally after they reunite. (Bruce would always call her Shiva post-flashback).
Also why did they have Shiva run a gang in Gotham to signify her evil(ish) status. They should have had her doing her normal thing. Like introduce her by having her challenge Batman (not knowing he was Bruce) but then win, stopping and sparing him once she realized their (movie-canon) friendship. That would also give us a cool fight scene out of it too.
Um feel like I covered most of the changes I would make- OH! I actually really liked how they did Richard in this. Which surprised me because he's my least favorite by far and I usually don't like him that much??? I think in canon it's definitely a case of the white guy learns martial arts, beats Asian people at it stereotype. I also just think things get weird and more like racist stereotypes start coming into play in terms of his original canon interactions with Ben, Carolyn, Sandra, etc. So I thought the choice to have him be Asian in this film was a really good one. Also they had him be interesting too. And like kind of cool. Idk this movie and his VA and all that actually made me really enjoy watching Richard Dragon. Which was weird as hell
Idk so mixed feelings on this movie in general. I really liked the premise of making a kung fu trio movie set so deeply in the 70s, I adore that, and I thought the addition of having Batman there and having known them actually worked really well. I'm very glad they did it that way. It obviously helped the movie itself get made and also in my ideal version BATMAN would honestly be the good mental health friend of the group by the end of the movie which is actually wild. Canon KFT trauma you are so insane and compelling to me actually.
My biggest issue with the movie (whose real name is like Batman: Soul of the Sword or something, [edit: it's called Soul of the Dragon] I love how I haven't mentioned it once [it's the kung fu trio movie to ME <3]) was definitely the portrayal of Ben. I'm definitely not suggesting we have him fall into the Black best friend stereotype he suffers from in the 70s comic but like. Just be better with it??? Thought his best moments of the film was where it went into his canon story and struggles and all that so just like. Do more of that idk. Just don't be racist abt it.
Otherwise my main gripes can all generally be summed up to this. When there's a point in a story where it feels like the adaptation has to diverge from canon to tell this story, 9 times out of 10 I believe it can actually be told better by moving closer towards canon, or by consulting a slightly different canon (precrisis vs preboot, etc.) In place of that.

For Edling Week 2022. Day 7: Fanwork of fanwork | AU | Crossover | Headcanon | Free
Sort of mixing two prompts together with a Miraculous Ladybug AU, because why not. Artwork instead of a one-shot fic this time.
Some further thoughts for this AU below the cut:
I'm not the best at coming up with original names so I'll go the easy route and have them be Fullmetal Bug and Hēi Māo (is that correct? I don't speak Chinese, I had to look it up. Feel free to correct me).
The ladybug yoyo is actually attached to Ed's metal hand.
Also, as a civilian, his prosthetics look different.
Regarding their superhero suit designs, I tried to base them off slightly their main canon outfits because obviously I'm very original. So, Hēi Māo keeps the loose pants and the strips around his forearms, while Fullmetal Bug keeps the iconic red coat (except on the back it's got a ladybug symbol instead of the Flamel).
It's set in modern-day Amestris.
They're trying to get the Peacock miraculous back from a creepy-as-fuck guy that calls himself Father as his villain name.
Unlike in the show though, instead of akumatising random civilians who are having a bad day, he always sends one of the same six minions to every attack (Pride, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Sloth, and Wrath; although luckily, only one at a time. For the first season at least).
It's reverse lovesquare! Fullmetal Bug has a crush on Hēi Māo while Ling has a crush on Edward. I just think it fits better that way.
Ling is still a royal (though Xing is a constitutional monarchy so he doesn't give that much of a shit about it) and he's actually an exchange student for a year. So his superhero persona is on a time limit to defeat Father.
Ed and Al live with Izumi and Sig.
And Ed is trans because he’s always implicitly trans in all of my fanworks even when it’s not mentioned.
Hohenheim gave them the miraculouses (in secret, like in ML canon). He was planning on giving Alphonse the Black Cat but some unspecified stuff happened, Ling ended up with it instead and he turned out to be a great fit.
Speaking of Al. When at some point Ed finds out that Hohenheim gave him the miraculous (and after the angry shouting, a punch to the face, etc), he gets to choose temporary miraculous holders—his first choice is obviously his brother. He gives him the Dog miraculous because Al is a cat person and he thinks it's funny.
Winry figures out both of their identities after a couple of months. She thinks the whole situation is pretty hilarious so she doesn't say shit to either of them.
Lan Fan always knew. She's the only one seemingly unaffected by the ML face blindness. She didn't say anything because she simply understood that it had to be a secret.
The Mustang Unit are police detectives and, unlike ML canon, are actually, actively trying to find out Father's identity and arrest him.
They collaborate with the superheros, but also it's a bit of a gray area since 1) technically Fullmetal and Hēi Māo are fighting outside of the law and 2) they're very obviously teenagers. So to work around this, the Central Police Department has Mustang keep and eye on them so that they don't do anything more illegal than what it's been agreed they need to do to defeat the akumas.
(Mustang doesn’t really care though. He mostly just ribs them from time to time. Hawkeye and the rest of the team keep tabs on them to make sure that they’re doing alright and to offer them an adult ear to talk to about their troubles if they need it.)
Later on Greed appears on the scene (OG Greed, with the Devil's Nest gang, although they're not chimeras here). He basically becomes Fullmetal and Hēi Māo's trump-card since he also wants to see his dad go down.
And that's pretty much all I have!

Hi, friend! 💕 I hope you've been well
I come here to give you Darius for the character's ask because I'm predictable. BUT also adding that one Herlock Sholmes guy because I remember a snippet you shared and he seemed fun
Thanks pal, today's my anniversary actually so I've been doing fairly well!
Listen. Listen. I'm always willing to talk about Darius, I'm just as predictable hahaha! But I'm down to talk about both!
Darius
1. Sexuality HC:
Ace Darius ace Darius ace Darius. I vibe with bi or aro for romantic inclinations tho
2. OTP:
Dariraeda, or maybe camdariraeda. But I also like not shipping Darius with anyone, depends on the mood
3. Brotp:
Darius & Eber mean so much to me, it's one of my absolute favorite Darius relationships and it gets ignored so often (I understand why but I'm still salty). Rebel trio too, bah I wish we got an episode about those three
4. Notp:
The worst theory for why Alador and Darius grew apart is that they were both into Odalia. Darius was never into Odalia, come on people
Darius x the prev GG kinda squicks me out too, I know the Grimwalkers tended to not live a long time so there's a chance he wasn't much older than Darius but the mentor-student ship dynamic has never been a favorite of mine
5. First HC that pops into my head:
The only CH that's been in their position longer than him is Terra
6. Favorite line from this character:
"And your treachery. Whatever."
The foreshadowing that he was a rebel lies in him caring more about his fit than treason. I loved him immediately
7. One way in which I relate to this character:
I can also be a bit of a neatfreak who just wants to relax instead of doing anything, and I also suffer from "bitch that cares about others" syndrome
8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character:
Him yelling at Raine about the CATTs name, omg he's so whiny in the name of his ego sometimes haha
9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
100% problematic fave, he bullied kids and doesn't seem to have any qualms against murder
---
I'm very curious how my answers on this char will influence the very brief impression you have of him haha! I'm certain you will be surprised by some of it
Herlock Sholmes
1. Sexuality HC:
Pan to match the test tubes he's always wearing
2. OTP:
Vanlock, I just. Love how stupid they are. Loser wet cat addicts that have to interact because his daughter is his niece and vice versa, giant bitter exes energy, their dlc case & escapade were soooo funny
3. Brotp:
I can definitely see the appeal for hmmk and I sometimes vibe with fanart for it, but I significantly prefer them in a platonic/familiar sense than a romantic/sexual sense. A very unpopular opinion but idc haha
4. Notp:
Honestly the only ship I like for Herlock is vanlock, I really don't care for any of the others.
5. First HC that pops into my head:
I know it's canonically disproven and doesn't really track for his character, but I like to sometimes think about a Herlock that gave up smoking & hard drugs when he became Iris' guardian
6. Favorite line from this character:
Though this was from the fan translation of the game years before the localization came out, the classic Herlock line "That deduction was so hot you'd hardly believe this detective is single." (I can't find it rn but I'm pretty sure that was the line. I also love his offer of jumping into a caldron of boiling wax for what equals ~16.4mil£ in today's money lmao)
7. One way I relate to this character:
Adhd 😔🎻
8. Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character:
Ooooh I'm so weak to second-hand embarrassment and this bitch caused it so frequently he's SO unhinged and cringe. Absolute loser of a man, should've been punched in the face by Ryuu after a big plot twist reveal
9. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
He's absolutely 100% a problematic fave. He steals, he lies constantly, he does hard drugs, he raised his daughter to think some random guy was her dad and let her believe said guy abandoned her, he's immensely flawed as an individual but he's really funny and has good intentions so. Problematic fave material
