why do the majority of modern tv shows have to have promiscuity and drug use?

...i kinda want an ep where the parents have to fill in for the superheroes, i think itd be INSANELY chaotic but so so worth it.
THE WAY I'D EAT THIS UP LMAO
Like I know it'd be such a gimmick episode but there's a reason TV shows do gimmick episodes. Because they're FUN

i love that the TLK movie kinda implies that england becomes the christian majority country it will be in small (but significant) part because aethelstan — considered by modern historians as its first king — was a gay man who believed that his piousness would absolve him of his sin. even believing in the movie that spreading christianity would balance out his sin of sodomy... inspired by a pagan man (masquerading as a christian — as a holy man at that—) he was so besotted with he was willing to choose said man over his country. the concept of it all... incredible creative vision.
apart from the tragedy both political and personal in the actual movie, there is something so strikingly meta-tragic about the story's implication of generations upon generations of future queer suffering happening because a powerful gay man believed he was powerless under the chrisitian god. obviously i don't know if this was intentional because the movie ends after uhtred pledges northumbria to the king so we don't know for sure what TLK aethelstan would have done afterwards. but the historical and fictional implications are still there and boy are they juicy

I think a (potentially) generation defining thing is how you feel about the phasing out of internal optical/DVD/CD (however you say it) readers in laptops.
I do not want to have to buy an extra external device that has to be plugged in. That (in my opinion) is way more inconvenient than a laptop that's heavier.
I have plenty of physical media I still want to enjoy! (I also want to collect more before things disappear.) I already own them!! so, I'm sorry, the only way I'm experiencing it digitally is if I can rip it or if I download it by other means.

this like colorful, diverse, queer, morally sanitized, crystal energy, depiction of schools and children in recent television is frankly kinda disgusting. why the fuck is EVERY SINGLE child dressed in pastels? why do they all talk the same and all wear extravagant makeup and wear a different elaborate outfit every single day?
excuse me but where are all the poor kids with maybe a couple pairs of jeans or sweats they wear to school? where are the emo kids who dont fucking participate or talk to anyone? WHERE ARE THE FUCKING BULLIES????
im sorry but these places being depicted do NOT exist and also are not that comforting to view. not having to worry about literally anything is an insane privilege and all the kids who these shows are just pretending dont exist are basically being told they shouldnt exist in this "utopia" of future zoomer schools where everything is perfect as long as you can afford to dress in perfect conformity or somehow at least not lash out at everyone who tucks you into the corner because you are not a perfectly happy intersectional god of a teenager

I saw a commercial for the new Quantum Leap and I gotta say I’m not impressed with the replacement Al
Might even pitch an article about it because the reboot totally missed the point of Al’s wild clothing
Firstly it showed some of his personality
Secondly it hinted at what the future looked like (apparently the 80s aesthetic really took hold)
Thirdly, it was a visual cue for the audience, so they knew, even before it was established that Al was from the future, that this guy does not belong here
Al’s wild clothing allowed him to stand out from the crowd so no matter what we could pick him out, which also served to help Sam recognize him because no matter how swiss-cheesed his brain got there is no way he is missing some guy in a shiny silver jacket
And then the replacement Al is...a woman in a blouse and a pair of jeans? that kind of look like she pulled them back out of the hamper do we not have irons in the future? I know we have no-wrinkle clothes now
Like I had to look it up to make sure I wasn’t just blanking on this but literally the only sign she’s part of the project is her holding a remote (which just looks generic and not like Ziggy’s colorful remote are they not using Ziggy?)
There’s really nothing to make her stand out from Generic Background Character #3 she looks like she was abducted from her house after she decided to stay in for the day and told hi you’re going to be in the reboot no you don’t get a wardrobe change
Like at least give her a shiny jacket that screams Quantum Leap Project or scientist-person right now she just looks Bland

i love watching xwp because this was in the era where sound mixing and lighting was valued, and actors actually enunciated. i dont need the subtitles to hear whats going on and the fight scenes arent overwhelmingly loud. love turning it on and then not touching the remote once
