Okay, so, as for my new Call of Duty interest and the 3 new pairings I accidentally acquired

I saw Soap and Ghost together and immediately went "Well, they're definitely ex-boyfriends", but now I have pivoted slightly. They are ex almost boyfriends. They're both in love. They know they're in love. They know the other is in love. It is this fully acknowledged thing between them. They almost get to getting together and then don't because whatever reason (military, fear, whatever, not figured it out yet). They probably figure it's going to go away. It doesn't.

Which is a different stupid to how Price and Gaz are stupid. Which is that they're both in love and know they're in love, but they're fully convinced that the other one isn't and never will be

Which is a different way to how Alejandro and Rodolfo are stupid. Which is not at all because they're clearly already married

Astarion doesn't bother to remember many things before his ascension; never bothered to keep in touch with anyone from before then either. He walks the long halls of his home and sits atop a throne, revered and worshipped akin to a god, with the memories of the tiefling who stole his undead heart so long ago. The same tiefling he'd driven away when the ascension had begun to twist his mind.

"Not that I don't love you, darling, but why do you insist on giving me flowers?" Astarion remembers asking, face flustered as you tilted your head at his question.

"Just because," you'd shrugged, taking another flower and placing it in Astarion's hair. The journey to Baldur's Gate was long, and the whole group had decided to take the roundabout path for some extra time to relax, well as much time you could all set aside to relax.

The last handful of flowers you'd given Astarion were still displayed on his bedside dresser, as fresh and vibrant as the day you'd picked them for him all those decades ago. "They won't wither as long as I live, a symbol of my love for you." Astarion had scoffed at your words and called you cheesy, all the while hiding his blushing face behind his hands. He hasn't seen your smile in decades? He can't remember, he doesn't know if he wants to.

Miles and Peter sitting atop a building after a mission and Miles is watching a drag queen performance tiktok video that Hailey sent him and then Peter sits next to him to watch it and then makes scientific observations about the level of skill required to pull off those dance moves. And then Miles and him joke around and Miles starts jokingly egging him on saying he should do it, and then Peter smirks and gets that look on his face that's like 'yeah I'm about to do this and no one is going to be ready'

Cue MJ, Harry, and Miles at a drag show and Drag Peter arrives on stage slaying in the coolest outfit ever for no reason and the crowd cheers as he pulls off the hardest and coolest moves known to man all in heels. Miles is recording and cheering in disbelief and MJ and Harry are having a field day

A recording of Drag Peter goes viral on Tik Tok and Hailey is showing it to Miles and then she signs to him 'Isn't that our old teacher?' and Miles laughs and says 'probably'

You know, the thing about Taka's FTEs (now that I've had more time musing over them) is that - Taka relies entirely on the assumption that when Hope's Peak uses the word Talent, they mean something that someone is naturally good at without putting forth any effort. As a result, Taka assumes that the other Ultimates are naturally talented and smart and gifted like his grandfather was.

To an extent, with a couple of them, Taka's right. Leon is naturally gifted at baseball. I'd argue that Chihiro is naturally gifted at programming (at least from the discussions in his FTEs). And I think it's likely that Junko is naturally gifted at analysis (but put effort into Despair and Fashionista. Or, at least, chose Fashionista for whatever reason).

But Mondo? Put effort into being a Biker Gang Leader (especially after his brother Daiya died, because he had to be better and prove that he was a good leader despite causing Daiya's death).

Sayaka? She explicitly talks about all of the effort that went into becoming a Pop Sensation (and just how easily that can all slip away from her).

Sakura, too, talks about all of the effort that went into becoming the top Martial Artist, and while you can argue that Hifumi is naturally talented, he goes to great lengths in his FTEs to talk about the effort he's put into spreading the amazingness of fan creation with his school.

So like - Taka is very clearly biased against all of the other Ultimates and says as much, but if he got to know them, he'd find that a good chunk of them are a lot like he is - putting a lot of effort into something they love so that they can be good at it.

And it's ironic that he thinks Makoto is like him. Because Makoto's Ultimate Talent - Luck - is another sort of natural thing that requires no effort. He might be just like Taka in terms of schooling (and all of the others, outside of their Ultimate, are likely the same way), but as far as the function of his Talent...he's just like everyone that Taka by nature does not like. But because Taka likes him, he pretends it's something else.

Idk...it's just interesting to think about, I guess.
