Ramadan in Pakistan: How to Donate Iftar Meals During Holy Month
Ramadan in Pakistan: How to Donate Iftar Meals During Holy Month
Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, is a time of reflection, charity, and community for Muslims around the world, including in Pakistan. As believers observe this sacred time, it's essential to understand the significance of iftar (the meal to break the fast) and the opportunity it presents for acts of kindness and generosity. In Pakistan, where a significant portion of the population lives below the poverty line, donating iftar meals holds particular importance in fulfilling the spirit of Ramadan.
Understanding the Significance of Ramadan in Pakistan
Ramadan is a month-long period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community for Muslims worldwide. In Pakistan, a predominantly Muslim country, Ramadan holds immense cultural and religious significance. Fasting during this month is obligatory for adult Muslims, except for those who are ill, pregnant, breastfeeding, menstruating, or traveling.
The holy month is not only about abstaining from food and drink from dawn till dusk but also about fostering empathy, compassion, and generosity towards others, especially those less fortunate. In Pakistan, where poverty and food insecurity are prevalent issues, Ramadan serves as a crucial time for community members to come together and support one another.
The Importance of Donating Iftar Meals
Donating iftar meals during Ramadan is a time-honored tradition rooted in the teachings of Islam. It is considered a virtuous act that carries immense rewards, both spiritually and socially. Providing iftar to those in need not only ensures that they have a meal to break their fast but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion within the community.
In Pakistan, where poverty and food insecurity affect millions of people, the act of donating iftar meals takes on added significance. It is a tangible way for individuals, organizations, and businesses to make a positive impact on the lives of others during this holy month.
How to Donate Iftar Meals in Pakistan
1. Support Local Charities and NGOs
One of the most effective ways to donate iftar meals in Pakistan is by supporting local charities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that specialize in providing food assistance during Ramadan. Shifa Foundation is one of the top charity foundations working in Pakistan that aims to work for the betterment of underprivileged communities through provision of food, clean water and healthcare. These organizations often have established networks and distribution channels to reach those in need across the country.
2. Organize Community Iftar Drives
Community iftar drives are another impactful way to donate meals during Ramadan. By organizing iftar events or drives in collaboration with local mosques, community centers, or volunteer groups, individuals can collect donations and distribute meals to those who are fasting.
3. Sponsor Iftar Meals at Mosques
Many mosques in Pakistan organize iftar meals for worshipers and community members during Ramadan. Sponsoring iftar meals at mosques is a meaningful way to contribute to the community while also earning blessings and rewards during this auspicious month.
4. Provide Iftar Kits or Ration Packs
Individuals and organizations can also donate iftar kits or ration packs containing essential food items to families in need. These kits typically include items such as dates, fruits, bread, and beverages, allowing recipients to prepare iftar meals at home.
5. Collaborate with Restaurants or Caterers
Collaborating with restaurants, caterers, or food vendors to provide iftar meals at discounted rates or as part of a sponsorship arrangement is another way to support the community during Ramadan. This approach allows for the provision of hot, nutritious meals to a larger number of people.
Conclusion
Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and communal solidarity for Muslims in Pakistan and around the world. During this holy month, the act of donating iftar meals holds immense significance as a means of fulfilling one's religious obligations and supporting those in need. By understanding the importance of iftar donations and exploring various avenues for giving, individuals and organizations in Pakistan can make a meaningful impact on their communities and experience the true essence of Ramadan.

Update From North Gaza: Third Proof of Purchase!
This is Mahmoud Abusalama from North Gaza in the beginning, explaining the process of buying flour while at the same time distributing food packaged to families. The 2nd portion of the video is what he managed to buy at the end of his scavenge hunt for food and supplies. This will conclude our first North Gaza drive, which was held between March 4th-10th with $25k.
Mahmoud can't thank you enough for all your donations and efforts in this quick drive and wants you to know that so many people are sending tumblers their sincere and warm prayers 🙏
Don't forget, Hussam's campaign in South Gaza (Rafah) is ongoing and very much needed, especially during the month of Ramadan. Let's make sure the refugees have a nice iftar meal after 14hour fasting.

In honor of a Gazan tradition, the #greenforgaza hashtag was born, urging global participation in preparing and enjoying molokhiya for the first iftar of Ramadan, symbolizing hope and goodness. Advocating for solidarity, social media users are encouraged to share images of their green Ramadans, accompanied by prayers for Gaza's well-being. Beyond culinary contributions, support through donations and calls for a ceasefire are urged, fostering empathy and compassion during the holy month. Regardless of religious affiliation, individuals are invited to join the trend, embracing green or white foods while highlighting the plight of Gaza. Remembering the innocent victims of conflict, the call for #CeasefireNow resonates, aiming for a Ramadan marked by peace and hope, rather than the darkness of destruction. Spread the message and stand in unity with Gaza during these trying times.

🇵🇸 Can we talk about the fact that I keep getting asked out by hot dykes at Pro-Palestine protests and it's so affirming and wholesome?? 🇵🇸
Because there's no queer liberation without the liberation of Palestinians. Because there's no freedom from oppression until Palestinians are free from Israeli occupation and if you're actively involved in that, I know you're a safe space. If I see you can create an ounce of discomfort in your life and disrupt it to one small degree to try and create comfort for those less privileged, I know you're someone I can trust.
I need to know you care about making change. I need to know you care not in an abstract, intangible way, but in a very real, disrupting your work schedule, cutting off friends, risking opportunities, put-your-ass-on-the-line, kind of way. If you care about change, you have to be actively involved, talking about it is not enough, it's never enough. It's easy to be woke and speak out about social issues until you actually have to be inconvenienced, unsafe or economically disadvantaged for doing so. Then it's hard. Thats why so many people agree with these political views but so few actually take out the time to get involved. Trust me, I know exactly how hard it is. I did it when I had no job, no home, no visa; I did it when I was triggered, when I was unsafe, when I was overworked and overwhelmed. I have been doing it since the bombing started, and I do it consistently every week.
Personally, I don't think I could be with a partner who isn't involved in activism to some degree. It's been a part of my life for years, and I've only been more radicalised as time goes on. I'm attending 2-3 Pro-Palestine events every week, I can't date you if you have a 🇵🇸 in your bio and that's the full extent of your contribution to the cause. Thank you, but no thank you, I'm going to move on. Palestine isn't the latest war or invasion or conflict, it isn't a sad tragic story for people to donate to out of sympathy, it is a systematic ethnic cleansing and a televised genocide. I don't have capacity to deal with someone who is lukewarm about this.
More importantly, I don't have capacity to to deal with someone who talks about social issues but isn't prepared to disrupt their lives to even a small, inconsequential degree to fight for a cause they believe in. You doesn't have to just support Palestine, you could be supporting Ukraine, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Congo. You could be supporting ethnic minorities in your community, you could be supporting refugees, abuse survivors, homeless people, trans people, anyone at all, but if you don't show up and get involved in the cause you believe in, if you don't put in the work, if you don't put in the effort; if you can't attend protests, demonstrations, teach ins, seminars, charity events; if you're not fundraising, boycotting, spreading awareness; if you can't give something of yourself to the community you want to support, I really don't know if I can be romantically involved with you.
That's why I think people at the protests have such a strong tight knit community, and that's why some people actually find safety and security in the people they meet and that's why they might want to pursue something romantic with the people they feel comfortable exploring with. It's hard showing up when you're overwhelmed and you're going to be late to work the next day. It's hard showing up when you have to miss your iftars, your hang outs, your social gatherings. It's hard showing up when you're broke and stressed, and it's hard showing up when you're late on assignments and meetings with your supervisor. It's hard as fuck, honestly. But if I see you're doing that, I know I can trust you to a certain degree, at least. I know you have your priorities straight, I know where your morals are aligned, I know where you're going to put your energy, and I want to be part of that.
Lets go to protests together, lets make banners together, lets attend fundraisers and political teach in sessions, let's have a date at an occupied space (actually did that last week) Lets romanticise the activism we do, because it's fucking powerful and we should celebrate it.
The sexiest thing a sapphic can do is be an activist, fucking fight me.
If you're not Pro Palestine, please unfollow. Or let me know, so I can block you. Kthanksbye.

It Girls Ramadan Guide
Tumblr media
Hey babesss I am soooo excited Ramadan officially starts this week and I wanted to post a Ramadan guide for my fellow Muslim girliesss if you aren’t Muslim but are participating in Ramadan this is a good guide for you as well.
Setting Intentions
♡ Before Ramadan starts set your intentions. What do you want to improve on this Ramadan? What charities do you want to donate to? Even if you aren’t able to reach all the goals you set Allah rewards us based on our genuine intentions.
♡ Journaling. I highly recommend journaling your intentions and your experience this Ramadan. Keep track of your mood, as well as your Quran readings, and prayers. I will link a Quran Journal as well as a 30-Day Ramadan Journal  Ramadan Legacy Planner.
♡ Vision Board. I’ve seen some girls online recommend creating a Ramadan vision board and I agree! Create a vision board using Canva and Pinterest, or you can use a poster board and magazine. This will help you see your goals not just read them. Place your vision board where you can see it so you're reminded of your goals daily.
Tumblr media
Nutrition
Suhoor
♡ Eat a balanced suhoor meal. Eat a meal high in protein, protein takes a while to be broken down so it’ll help you at the beginning of the day. Eat carbs and fats you will need as much energy as the average hours we fast during Ramadan are 12 to 18 hours depending on where you are.
♡ Drink water. One of the things I struggle with every Ramadan is my water intake. Try to drink at least two 16oz bottles of water during Suhoor. Hydration is super important you don't want to pass out due to severe dehydration.
♡ Drink electrolytes. Drinking electrolytes is very beneficial before fasting they help your body retain water while you are fasting. Do not overdo your electrolyte intake because too much sodium is bad.
Iftar
♡ Do not overdo it. I know going a long period without food can make you want to eat everything in sight but it is important to eat a well-balanced nutritious meal after fasting. When you overeat this may cause indigestion and other stomach issues.
♡ Avoid eating too much fried, salty, and high-sugar foods. Moderation is key I know during Ramadan my mom makes all of our favorite Ghanaian dishes and they aren't the most healthy options. That doesn't mean you shouldn't eat them or avoid them you can eat them but in moderation. Eating too much of these foods in the moment may feel good because they cause us to release feel-good hormones like dopamine and serotonin but they can make fasting the next day very difficult.
♡ Eat whole foods. The best food to break your fast with is fruit! Specifically, a date to begin with and then other fruits like pineapple, watermelon, oranges, strawberries, mango, and other fruits you like. I would recommend you eat more water-based fruits to hydrate your body.
♡ Drink water. I mention this twice because it is very important that after you break your fast you drink water make it a goal of yours to have six to eight glasses of water daily.
Tumblr media
Movement
♡ Create a Ramadan workout plan. I know a lot of us girliesss are on weight loss journeys and we want to be snatched before the summer but we also don't want to stress out our bodies while fasting and exerting needed energy. Create a workout plan that starts low and goes slow. Limit intense cardio, and train at a lower intensity, if you lift try to lift heavy before suhoor which means you’ll need to wake up earlier. If you prefer to workout after Iftar break your fast with something light so that your stomach won’t feel so heavy when you workout.
♡ Walking. I recommend getting in sedentary movement throughout the day, so instead of taking the bus walk if where you're going isn't that far. Walking is beneficial for so many reasons I’ll link this article.
♡ Yoga and Pilates. I love both of these exercises they are perfect for my girlies who are fasting. Pilates especially is perfect it is very low and slow in movements but still gives you amazing results. Yoga is perfect for relaxing especially if you deal with anxiety, sore muscles, back problems, and trouble sleeping I recommend trying yoga.
Tumblr media
Increase Your Iman
♡ Prioritize Prayer. Make sure to pray all five of your daily prayers and do them on time try your best to not delay your prayers unless you have to.
♡ Read Quran. Some of you might be hafiz of the Quran and I know it is common for hafiz to try and finish the Quran from start to finish during Ramadan so maybe you can make that a goal if you are a hafiz. For my girlies who are like me and haven’t finished the Quran but Insha Allah we will! I recommend trying to read at least 10 verses of the Quran daily that's better than not reading it at all.
♡ Watch Islamic Lectures. I recommend spending your time online watching Islamic lectures like Omar Suleiman, Mohammed Hoblos, Mufti Menk, Dr. Sh. Haifa Younis, Akhi Ayman (he is perfect for younger men), and many other amazing lecturers. My favorites are Omar Suleiman and Mufti Menk they explain Islam in such a beautiful way and spread the message perfectly.
♡ Charity. This month is the best month to give to those in need. You can donate to many organizations, and help send aid to Gaza/Congo/Sudan, create a fundraiser for your local masjid in need, feed another fasting person, help prepare Iftar at home, and so much more. Charity not only blesses us with good deeds but there have been studies proving random acts of kindness are good for our mental health we produce dopamine when we donate or help others.
♡ Pray Tahajjud. I swearrrr if you have anything you desire in this life this is the best prayer you need to pray! Allah is closest to the earth during the last third of the night and he is there to listen to our dua’s and repentance. You can only pray Tahajjuud after you sleep. Tahajjud is hard to catch because it involves having to leave our sleep for the sake of Allah. One Mallam explained Tahajjud so beautifully he said “Tahajjud is like a personal invitation from Allah Not everyone can get in most people are asleep during that time.” If you have anything you want badly pray Tahajjud for it, especially during this holy month.  So try your best to wake up an hour or two before the fajr prayer and pray Tahajjuud I will link a video on the benefits and how to pray Tahajjud for those who don’t know how.
These are a few tips for my girliesss I hope Ramadan is a blessed month for all of us! Thank you for all the support babes! we are getting close to 500 followers!!!

Some helpful tips as we enter this blessed month (please share if you find beneficial):
1. Begin with *sincere intentions*: Start each day of Ramadan with a clear intention to fast solely for the sake of Allah, seeking spiritual growth and closeness to Him through this act of worship.
2. *Write up a plan and establish a consistent routine*: We make a plan for every endeavour in life, the same should also be for Ramadan. Write a list of how much dhikr you want to do everyday, how many pages of quran you want to read, how many optional prayers you want to perform and stick to it.
3. Drink plenty of water between Iftar and Suhoor, and *avoid excessive caffeine and sugary drinks that can lead to dehydration.*
4. *Charity and kindness*: Embrace the spirit of giving by engaging in charitable acts, such as donating to those in need, volunteering, and showing kindness and compassion to others.
5. Self-reflection and *repentance*: Take advantage of the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan to engage in self-reflection, introspection, and seeking forgiveness for past mistakes. Use this opportunity to strengthen your relationship with Allah and strive for self-improvement.
May Allah make this a successful ramadan for us, shower his blessings on us, accept our good deeds and repentance and make us leave Ramadan more closer to him than when we entered this blessed month. Ameen

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic lunar year. In 2024 (Islamic year 1445) Ramadan begins on the 11th or 12th of March, depending on when the crescent moon is sighted in your country.
Ramadan is a month of mandatory fasting, practicing patience and empathy. Muslims wake up before Fajr prayer, eat suhoor, and as soon as the Fajr athaan is finished we are under obligation to fast. From then until the athaan for Maghrib prayer at sunset, Muslims abstain from not only food and drink, but indulgent entertainment, profanity, music, sex, and other worldly pleasures. At iftar, we traditionally break our fast with dates and a drink such as water, lemonade, lassi, milk, rooh-afza, etc.
There are circumstances in which fasting in Ramadan is not mandatory. Fasting will never be compulsory on anyone who physically cannot bear it. People suffering from malnutrition, people who are required to take medicine for health reasons, anyone who needs to ingest food or drink during the day is not mandated to fast. Fasting is also not obligatory on menstruating, pregnant, or breastfeeding women. The physical health of a Muslim comes first, before any practices that would otherwise be obligatory on them. We are, however, supposed to make up our fast after Ramadan when we are in a condition to do so.
Ramadan is a time of focusing on our faith and maximizing our worship. It teaches us patience and etiquette. It teaches us empathy and compassion for those who have less than us, to look out for the needy and make sure everyone in our community is comfortable and safe. It teaches us to count our blessings and be thankful for what we have, and not to give up on working for what we don’t. It teaches us that there is more to life than pleasure, indeed we all have responsibilities of working to the best of our ability, looking after one another, staying humble and respectful. It’s a practice I’m honored to be able to partake in every year.
This year, things are different. The world’s eyes are on Rafah, where over 1 million Palestinians, most of them Muslim, are concentrated and bombed relentlessly. The people of Gaza have not been allowed to experience a normal Ramadan Kareem for 75 years. And this year that MUST change.
Israel is taking advantage of our love for Ramadan to try and break our hope, destroy a limb of the Muslim ummah. in Islam, if a part of the ummah is harmed, the entire ummah is affected.
Don’t give up hope. Allah is with us and He sees every little bit of good we do for the sake of Palestine. Inshallah, justice will be delivered. Keep talking. Keep talking. Don’t let the Oscars and other western garbage distract from what is truly important. The lives of almost 2 million people depend on it.
Ramadan Mubarak. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. 📿🌙🇵🇰🇵🇸

With Ramadan of 2024 comes a huge responsibility on the shoulders of Muslims worldwide. This year we all have witnessed the most atrocious genocide of the century which still goes on as I type this. Gaza bleeds and people are dying of hunger each and every day. The least you can do for them is to change your iftar habits this year.
Keep your Suhoors and Iftars as simple as you can because there are people in the same world who don't even have a single morsel at their Suhoors and Iftars.
Keep on boycotting pro-Israeli products in your daily life.
Avoid throwing lavish iftar parties and attending big-fat iftar buffets because this is simply inhumane considering the mass starvation in Gaza.
Don't post videos or images of your iftar on your social media handles. In fact, for this month put a full stop to the food streaks because you can do without showing off your iftar preparations, but Gaza is battling for its survival.
Donate to Gaza as much as you can. Even the briefest of the amount makes a great difference to support them.
Pray for Gaza and Palestine in every single prayer. Prioritize praying for them before your own selves because at this point nothing is more significant, no wish, no desire nothing when compared to the trials of people in Gaza. Dua'as work like a miracle and we never know whose dua'a gets accepted.
PLEASE DON'T STOP TALKING ABOUT THEM, SHARING THEIR STORIES WITH THE WORLD, KEEP ON PROTESTING FOR THEIR RIGHTS, AND FOR THEIR LIFE BECAUSE THIS CAN SHAKE EVEN THE STRONGEST OF THE POLITICAL EMPIRES.

Embracing the Radiance of Ramadan: A Journey of Spiritual Enrichment
Tumblr media
Fasting and Prayer: A Symphony of Devotion
In the sacred month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world engage in fasting from dawn to sunset, abstaining not only from food and drink but also from negative behaviours. The act of fasting is not merely a physical challenge; it is a profound spiritual journey, fostering self-discipline, empathy, and a heightened awareness of one’s actions.
Quran (2:183) — “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.”
The Health and Spiritual Benefits of Fasting: Nourishing the Body and Soul
Beyond its spiritual significance, fasting during Ramadan offers a myriad of health benefits. The detoxification of the body, improved mental clarity, and enhanced self-control contribute to both physical and spiritual well-being. It’s a holistic approach to rejuvenation and self-improvement.
Hadith (Sahih Bukhari) — “Fasting is a shield; so when one of you is fasting, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice in anger.”
Zakat ul Fitr: Illuminating Paths of Compassion
An integral aspect of Ramadan is the Zakat ul Fitr, a charitable donation given before Eid al-Fitr. This act of giving is a means by which Islam actively addresses poverty and inequality. It ensures that those less fortunate can also partake in the joyous festivities of Eid.
Hadith (Sahih Bukhari) — “The fast remains suspended between Heaven and Earth until the Sadaqat al-Fitr are paid.”
Ramadan Traditions Around the World: Unity in Diversity
Ramadan is not only a personal journey but a global celebration. Traditions vary across cultures, enriching the tapestry of this holy month. From communal iftar gatherings for Muslims and non-Muslims alike to the vibrant lights adorning streets, Ramadan fosters a sense of unity, bringing Muslims together worldwide.
In the month of Ramadan, the beauty of Islam shines brightly, offering a path of self-discovery, compassion, and unity. It extends an invitation not only to Muslims but to people of all backgrounds to witness the profound spirituality, generosity, and cultural richness that characterise this sacred month.

Making Every Night Count: Ramadan Donation and My Ten Nights
In the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is a sacred month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It is a time when Muslims around the world strive to draw closer to Allah, seek forgiveness, and practice self-discipline. One of the key aspects of Ramadan is the concept of "laylatul qadr" or the Night of Power, which is believed to be better than a thousand months. It is during this night that the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
As Muslims, we are encouraged to make the most of Ramadan by engaging in acts of worship and charity. One way to maximize our blessings during this auspicious time is by donating to charitable causes. This is where organizations like Penny Appeal Canada play a crucial role.
Penny Appeal Canada is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing humanitarian aid and development programs to those in need around the world. Their My Ten Nights campaign is specifically designed for Ramadan, allowing individuals to donate and make a difference during the ten most blessed nights of the month.
The concept of "My Ten Nights" is deeply rooted in Islamic tradition. These are the nights that are believed to hold special significance and are an opportunity for believers to increase their worship and good deeds. By participating in the My Ten Nights campaign, individuals can ensure that their donations are made during these spiritually charged nights, thus multiplying their rewards.
Ramadan Donation is not just about giving money; it's about making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. It's about feeding the hungry, providing clean water to the thirsty, and offering a helping hand to those in need. By donating to organizations like Penny Appeal Canada, we can make a difference in the world and fulfill our duty to help those less fortunate.
One of the key teachings of Islam is the importance of charity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." This highlights the significance of giving in Islam and the rewards that come with it.
The My Ten Nights campaign is an opportunity for Muslims to fulfill this important aspect of their faith. By donating during these special nights, individuals can ensure that their contributions have an even greater impact. Whether it's providing iftar meals to those fasting, sponsoring an orphan, or supporting education programs, every donation counts and can make a difference in someone's life.
In conclusion, Ramadan Donation and the My Ten Nights campaign are an opportunity for Muslims to make a difference in the world and earn blessings during the holiest month of the Islamic calendar. By donating to organizations like Penny Appeal Canada, individuals can ensure that their contributions have a lasting impact on those in need. Let us make the most of this blessed month and strive to make every night count.
