the weeping creatures that had long reigned in janessa's young body were finally beginning to dissolve. the blood on her hands, the thrumming ache in her heart mattered not— not when she was integrated into an environment like this. where individuality was celebrated and respected, where loneliness felt far less burdensome. apart from a few connections created in archery club, ( a sport jane had become incredibly fond of, as it was a way to develop her concentration and attention skills, ) there had been one student amongst the herd she'd already developed a nice connection with. she felt very lucky to know the ghostly girl, in fact. while she hadn't yet sought friends out, too occupied in finding herself opposed to forming true bonds, it didn't mean she wouldn't welcome them when or if they came along. ❝ it is... strange. but good. ❞ hesitation threatened her expression of glee, worried if she proclaimed just the extent of her happiness, it may be stripped from her in a moment's breath.

hope was certainly an interesting choice of words, given she'd known nothing of aspirations nor possibilities outside bleak walls and unbearable tests for eight straight years. nevermore academy was a masterful change: the child would never take it for granted. she cleared her throat, daring to elaborate. ❝ there is a lot to learn. i think i can do it. ❞ confidence slowly began brewing in the crux of her core as each new day approached, understanding the array of subjects, requesting assistance when she needed a guiding hand, raising her own when believing she had a correct response in class. although, chrissy was a different case completely, and one which jane didn't understand in the slightest, no matter how she tried. how could you be alive and dead at the same time? one of the many complexities still nagging for an answer! ❝ is it normal that it is… hard? ❞ she scarcely thought she’d breeze through the workload or social norms, but there was part of her feeling somewhat behind. chrissy had been here far longer, which is why these concealed questions were directed to her, someone with more experience. ❝ do you find it hard? ❞

A loud cry shot Jeanie awake right away. Jeanie looks around her room but only to see pitch black. Her system was loading until she was fully ‘activated.’ Half charge of her body. The cries continue to be louder. Ah.. Jamie..

Jeanie removed her blanket covers and turned to see Sullivan dead asleep. How can he sleep through her cries?

*WAAAAAHHH!*

“I’m coming.. I’m coming..” she mumbled tiredly. Standing up and walking to her daughter’s room. She opened the door, seeing her night light staying on. She walks over to her crib and sees Jamie crying. Jamie sniffling and cries, not seeing her Papa only her Mama.

Jeanie picked her up gently and scanned her.

Hmm. She’s not hungry, or hurt, or needs a diaper change.

Ah… a nightmare..

Jeanie cradles her back and forth slowly. Smooth her little bunny ears trying to calm her down. Nothing seemed to work..

Oh, what can she do? Jeanie doesn't know how to calm her down..

“You’re fine Jeanie.. Just watch me..” Peach whispered to her, holding her baby boys in her arms. She started to sing. Two of the twins stop their crying at stare at their mom. Jeanie watches seeing both of the twins calm down. Jeanie hummed quietly to join her song.

Once the song ends Peach smiles seeing both of her sons asleep. Peach sighed, gently putting both of her boys in the crib. “Thank you Peach.. I apologize I didn’t calm down the boys..”

“It's alright Jeanie, you tried, and that matters. Now come on, you need to rest up for your big day!”

“Thank you.. Peach,”

Peach smiled at her friend. “Of course..”

Jeanie shakes her head, remembering that memory. Hopefully, this works. She sat down on the plush stool and started to sing.

For in this river, all is found..” Jeanie quietly sang, seeing her daughter calm down her cries a bit.

Jeanie continues, “In her waters, deep and true..

Lie the answers and a path for you..

But not too far or you’ll be drowned..”

Jamie sniffed and softly cooed at Jeanie. Her cries finally stopped but Jeanie didn’t stop.

“Yes, she will sing to those who'll hear

And in her song, all magic flows..”

Sullivan yawned, scratching his eye as he entered the room. He stops scratching and listens to his wife singing to their daughter. Oh.. What a beautiful melody..~

Sullivan leans to the doorframe and listens to her song.

“But can you brave what you most fear?

Can you face what the river knows?

Where the North wind meets the sea

There's a mother full of memory

Come, my darling, homeward bound

When all is lost, then all is found..” Jeanie stops singing, looks down, and sees Jamie asleep. Snuggling up close to her mom’s chest. She did it..

Jeanie kissed Jamie’s forehead and was about to put her daughter in the crib but heard Sullivan’s words. “You sing beautiful Jeanie.. Really beautiful.. Like an angel..”

Sullivan walked to her. “You did good as well.. Putting her to sleep..” Sullivan sighed and stroke his daughter’s ears carefully and gently.

“Mhm.. All thanks to someone..”

Jeanie gently put Jamie in her crib, quietly she and Sullivan walked out and closed the door quietly.

Both of the couples go to their shared room and lie down in their bed. Jeanie smiled and felt very proud of herself. She fell asleep, not hearing her daughter cry but hearing her husband snore instead.

Koroleva clung to her mother's shirt, trying to block out the sounds of her father screaming. She felt her mother lay her down in her bed, and she immediately let out a small cry, reaching back for her mother. The older woman gently shushed her, covering her with a blanket and tucking her in. "Тише, моя маленькая принцесса. Все нормально. Мама здесь." She reassured, as she leaned down and pressed a kiss to Koroleva's head.

She grabbed her mother's hand as it was offered to her. "колыбельная?" She asked, her voice cracking.

Her mother smiled softly, and began singing, stroking her hair as she did so. "Там, где северный ветер встречается с морем, есть река, полная воспоминаний~"

Koroleva leaned into her mother's touch, listening closely. "Спи, моя дорогая, в целости и сохранности, ибо в этой реке можно найти все~ В ее водах глубоко и правдиво лежат ответы и путь для тебя~"

She looked up, seeing those brown eyes, so full of warmth and love. "Ныряйте глубоко в ее звук, но не слишком далеко, иначе вы утонете~ Да, она будет петь тем, кто услышит, и в ее песне струится вся магия~ Но сможете ли вы выдержать то, чего боитесь больше всего~? Everything went black and blank as she heard the faint sound of the door opening.

Koroleva shot awake to the sound of her baby sister bawling. She pushed herself out of bed, hurrying to the kitchen and coming back with a bottle of formula. She lifted her sister out of the bassinet, her small body barely able to handle holding the little one. She hung her head, wishing her mama was here.

Been working on a little Spock character study fic where he mind melds with the katric arcs of some of his ancestors, and finally finished the first chapter!

There’s hopefully going to be two more chapters, one with Solkar and one with Sarek

what do you mean that your writing has changed?

I have a new writing style since I've adapted and learned a lot. With "From Now On," a lot of it was rushed, and I kept changing perspectives within one chapter. I was writing in "3rd person limited", so I was meant to be thinking from the perspective of the character, but Peter at age 8 shouldn't have read the same as his perspective at 16, but he did.

I've learned a lot since then, with style, sentence structure, and especially making every character's perspective unique while staying true to canon. If I were to compare my most recent irondad series "Come, My Darling, Homeward Bound" with "From Now On" the differences would be quite easy to pick out.

That's how writing works, well, at least for me! You approve and change over time.

But "From Now On" was almost too long, and I wish there were things I could change about it, but I'm proud of how much love I put into it.

The fic I'm looking for was a kidnapping fic, where Morgan and Peter were taken and held by an original character. Peter protects Morgan, and has her play dead so that the antagonist takes her out of the room and she can get help. I think he wraps her in a carpet to hide her?

The end of the fic is very heavy on comfort which is why I'm asking your irondad account, because the whole story is very much influenced around Peter and Tony's relationship.

Okay okay. Since you’re asking for ultimate favorites, but since you’re also in a sense kind of asking for recommendations, I’ll do you a solid and give you a list of fifteen (which is really doing myself a solid because it means there are fewer that I have to narrow down).

Also, I am SO sorry this took me so long, but it took me forever to narrow down to fifteen, and even with THAT, I cheated. XD

1. More Ancient Than Magic by @ironfamjam 

This is a mini Hogwarts AU that I absolutely ADORE and think about at least once a week. The way the author melds the two universes is incredible and so well done, and I quote it all the time.  One-shot, IronFam centric, featuring Ned and MJ, with special guest appearances from the other Avengers and Peter’s classmates. No major warnings. 

2. Everybody Loves Skip by @baloobird

Okay, Kris is my favorite MCU fanfic author of all time, so you’ll see her on here a couple of times. This is by far my favorite story of hers, and it’s what made me fall in love with Interwebs. <3 <3  Multichapter, Peter centric, featuring Ace!Peter and Interwebs, with special guest appearances from Tony, May, and Tracy Leeds. Minor sexual harassment/non-con, but it doesn’t get too graphic. 

3. Ohana by @jen27ny

I read this story as a part of last year’s Irondad Big Bang, and let me tell you, I was SOOO invested. I got to the point where I had to send in play by play reactions because I was so emotionally invested. The story is so well told. <3 Multichapter, Tony and Peter centric, featuring Pepperony, Spideychelle, and minor Stucky, with special guest appearances from the rest of the Avengers, HYDRA, and my fast beating heart. No major warnings. 

4. Come, My Darling, Homeward Bound by @i-am-irondad

ANOTHER Irondad Big Bang 2020 story that I became OVERLY invested in to the point that I had to send play by plays in to the author. It’s a Room AU, and she NAILS each and every one of the character dynamics. I never even saw Room, and I loved it. <3  Multichapter, Tony, Peter, and Morgan centric, featuring the rest of IronFam, Spideychelle, and adorable sibling moments, with special guest appearances from Quentin Beck and my tears. Minor implied sexual harassment/non-con. (She also has a prequel and a sequel, just so you know.) 

5. The Lightning Strike by @booksxtvxsupernatural

Yet ANOTHER Irondad Big Bang 2020 story that hit me right in the feels. This is a canon-divergent post-Infinity War fic, and the way the author shows how events could’ve transpired is so realistic and beautiful. <3  One-shot, Tony and Peter centric, featuring Harley Keener and Nebula, with special guest appearances from IronFam, May Parker, and several other Avengers. 

6. Family Doesn’t End with Blood by @baloobird

This is a series of one-shots by my girl Kris based off of the Irondad Bingo prompts, so there are a lot of different prompts and themes, but they ALL rock.  Multichapter, Tony and Peter centric, featuring Ace!Peter, IronFam, and Interwebs, with special guest appearances from several other MCU characters. Warnings vary, so pay attention to the tags and read the notes.

Okay, so maybe this is cheating, because it’s technically a series, but every fic in it is so good that I couldn’t possibly pick just one. So, I started reading her works solely through Tumblr, and when I finally realized that she had an AO3, I went on there and bookmarked a TON of her stories immediately. This is one of her more recent ones, but it’s one of my faves, even with all the whump (being Whumptober and all). It has a positive ending, I promise.  One-shot, Tony and Peter centric, featuring amazing BFF Michelle Jones, protective Peter Parker, and adorable little sister Morgan Stark, with special guest appearances from Pepper Potts, May Parker, and a lot of family love and support. Rape/non-con, but it isn’t super graphic.

This was yet another Irondad Secret Santa 2019 fic, and while this one wasn’t written specifically for me, I freaking loved it. There’s so much tension and mystery in this, and I seriously thought I was gonna pass out reading it from all of my worry. But, luckily, it has a happy ending.  One-shot, Tony and Peter centric, featuring canon divergence and lots of references to other Avengers, with a special guest appearance from a terrible government. No major warnings.

This was posted directly to Tumblr, but I have it saved in screenshots on my phone and I re-blog it all the time because I absolutely ADORE it. I will always be down for Peter and Morgan fics, especially when Tony is involved, and this one touches my heart like no other.  One-shot, Tony, Peter, and Morgan centric, featuring protective big bro Peter Parker and Tony being an amazing parent, with special guest appearances from equally awesome Pepper Potts and May Parker. No major warnings. 

2. He’s My Intern? by losingmymindtonight (if they have a Tumblr, I don’t know it, so if anyone knows it, please find them and tell them they’re awesome)

This one was posted on FF.net, and it was actually one of the first Tony and Peter stories I ever read, and it BLEW me away. This one is another series of one-shots, but each one is filled with soft Tony and Peter moments and I love it.  Multichapter, Tony and Peter centric, featuring Happy Hogan, Bruce Banner, F.R.I.D.A.Y., and all the hurt/comfort you could possibly want, with special guest appearances from Pepper Potts, May Parker, Ned Leeds, and several other Avengers. No major warnings.

Similarities between Frozen Heart and All is Found

The prologue song in every musical is meant to set the tone for the story and prepare us for what is to come. It is always the first song in the musical, sometimes appearing right in the beginning before the story even starts, or a little after we are introduced to the world. This song will typically reappear throughout the musical, either directly within other songs or in subtle ways within the score. This is meant to represent an idea or theme that was shown in this prologue song reappearing in the story later on; further cementing the idea that the prologue song is meant to basically represent the whole story.

The Frozen Franchise is no different when it comes to this phenomenon as both it’s famous prologue songs, Frozen Heart and All is Found, feature these ideals within the music. lovewillthaw-j went into an amazing amount of detail in their post on how All is Found reappears throughout the film.  While I’ll be paraphrasing some of these ideas in this post, I recommend reading their post because it has a lot more intricate detail. In this post, I want to focus a bit more on how the two prologue songs are similar to each other.

Within the lyrics of both songs, we can hear what the main conflict of our stories are going to be. With a Frozen Heart, the song begins with these two verses -

Born of cold and winter air And mountain rain combining This icy force both foul and fair Has a frozen heart worth mining

So cut through the heart, cold and clear Strike for love and strike for fear See the beauty, sharp and sheer Split the ice apart! And break the frozen heart

These verses are explicitly talking about Elsa, as she was born with Ice magic and said magic can be both beautiful and dangerous. It also mentions that while Elsa has a seemingly cold personality, she has a good heart, as when you ‘mine’ for something, you are trying to find a precious or rare stone of some kind. It also alludes to Anna breaking her own literal frozen heart when she makes the ultimate self-sacrifice. This introduces the main conflict of Frozen right in the beginning.

Now, let’s look at All is Found’s first two verses.

Where the north wind meets the sea There’s a river full of memory Sleep my darlings safe and sound For in this river all is found

In her waters deep and true Lie the answers and a path for you Dive down deep into her sound But not too far or you’ll be drowned

Here, we get the main goal of Frozen 2. Find Ahtohallan. The song is saying that all of the answers that Elsa and Anna need are going to be found in this river, and that they shouldn’t stress or feel lost, because this river will help them. Ahtohallan also reveals the true paths for both Elsa and Anna, encouraging them to find the truth. As with Frozen Heart, the main conflict is introduced right here.

Furthermore, the main themes are also presented in both songs. For Frozen, it’s the idea of Love vs. Fear in the idea of acceptance and understanding.

Strike for love and strike for fear.

For Frozen 2, it’s again Love vs. Fear; this time, it’s based on the idea of facing the truth that could cause some kind of change in your life or beliefs.

But can you brave what you must fear Can you face what the river knows

Another element present in both songs is the big, scary warning. Both songs give a warning of what the characters are going to have to face. For Frozen Heart, it’s a warning specifically for Anna and, as stated in the title, it’s the idea of the frozen heart.

This is both a warning towards Anna that while she needs to find love, she needs to be careful about the dangers of her forcefulness.  

In All is Found, Elsa is warned about going to far into Ahtohallan.

Dive down deep into her sound But not too far or you’ll be drowned

As we know, Elsa goes too far while trying to find the truth. It highlights how it’s important for Elsa to find the truth, but not overestimate her abilities.

Both songs also have a secret meaning about the big secrets in both films. Frozen Hearts warns Anna about Hans, as he figuratively has a frozen heart. On the other hand, All is Found hints that Iduna is the one that calls to Elsa, being the person that sings the song, the song being a comforting lullaby, and with the lines of - There’s a mother full of memory - indicating how Iduna, the mother, has the answers. All is Found also hints at Anna finding the strength to go on. When All is Lost, Then All is Found. When Anna loses everything, she finds the strength to carry on.

These prologue songs also sneak their way into other tracks and in the score itself. Frozen Heart reappears in Let it Go, both lyrically and thematically -

Watch your step! Let it go!

Let it Go, Let it go! (Obviously haha)

The line from Frozen Heart, while appearing in Let it Go, also alludes to Elsa’s internal struggle with wanting the freedom to express herself but also trying being fearful of going to far. Thus, she needs to watch her step. It also reappears as a melody at the end of For the First time in Forever (Reprise) when Anna is struck by Elsa, reaffirming the warning of the Frozen Heart.

All is Found appears specifically whenever Ahtohallan and Iduna are being mentioned. It reaffirms the idea that Ahtohallan and Iduna are (now) connected, and is calling to Elsa (and Anna) to find the truth. Lyrically, it also reappears during the scene when Elsa goes too far into Ahtohallan, thus the big warning is reintroduced, and in Show Yourself, when Elsa finally comes “Homeward Bound”.

Thus, both of these prologue songs -

1.      Mention the main conflict of the story.

2.      Mention the main themes of the story.

3.      Give a warning for what is to come.

4.      Hold a secret twist(s).

5.      Reappear when the BIG BAD.

6.      Thematically show Elsa and Anna’s future struggles.

And, as a final bonus point, Frozen Heart and All is Found, around the end of each song, feature a scene of the Northern Lights against the Arendelle Mountains.

Ya’ll remember this scene? Well, the first thing that popped into my mind when Rey realizes Ben is there, was “I can sense you there, like a friend I’ve always knooOown.” from Show Yourself (Frozen 2). So I give you: Use the Force! (A Star Wars Parody of Show Yourself). I hope to one day make an animatic of this parody, but seeing as I can’t sing and have no experience with animation, that will never happen. Happy (late) FFWF! Which fanfic writers inspire you and why?

Happy (late) FFWF! 

ADHFKAKDFLJKD OMG!!! SO MANY!!! 

Okay, first of all, basically any fan fiction writer I've read has become an inspiration to me in some way. Every single author out there is incredible, and they always inspire me to continue writing and keep putting my ideas out there, so thank you to all of the writers out there!! <3 <3

I definitely do have a few stands outs though.

First of all, you, plus @jolinarjackson and @i-am-irondad. Besides being amazing writers that I adore, after I read all of your stories for the Irondad Big Bang 2020 (Ohana, Friendly Fire, and Come My Darling, Homeward Bound, respectively), I was so impressed with how complex and well-thought out they were! As such, for this year's Irondad Big Bang, I started my story really early and put a lot of thought into it in the hopes of trying to, at the very least, skim the surface of how deep and beautiful your stories were. :) (Also, Jenny and Jolinar, I am so sorry I haven't finished your Irondad Big Bang stories for this year! I promise I will!)

@ironfamjam, in general, is an amazing author, but in particular, she inspired me to include more of Peter and Morgan's relationship in my stories, plus Peter, Ned, and MJ's relationship, because of how much I love those dynamics in all of her writing--especially in More Ancient Than Magic.

Most of all, though, my biggest inspiration for writing has been, and probably always will be, @baloobird. Kris is the whole reason I even started writing MCU fan fiction to begin with. I found her stories, and I got hooked. She pulled me into Irondad and Spiderson fan fiction like nobody's business, and eventually, I felt like I could start writing my own! She's gotten me into various ships (most notably, InterWebs) and inspired me to include more asexual characters in my fics and be more open about my own asexuality. Even now, she constantly inspires new ideas in my brain, and besides being an incredible writer, she's also an incredible friend. I will always appreciate her for everything she's taught me and all the support she's shown me! <3 <3

Summary: Held captive for five years in an eleven-by-eleven foot shed, Peter and Morgan finally break free. Peter is thrown back into the life that he was torn from and struggles to find his place in the world. Morgan was a baby when they were taken, so she experiences everything and everyone, for the first time. Tony struggles to take his eyes off them. May wants to hold them in her arms, for the rest of time. Pepper can't stop counting the days they've lost. It's difficult - Peter is a changed person, and Morgan has no memory of them.

Summary: When Peter finds himself in an unfamiliar place, with no memory of how he came to be there, they tell him he has relapsed. They tell him Spider-man is just a character he invented to cope with trauma, that everything that has happened to him over the last two years is a figment of his imagination.

But Peter knows the truth.

Summary: At 7:36 pm on the 12th of May 2016, Tony Stark is put in the Room. A twelve-by-twelve-foot shed, soundproofed, double locked. It becomes his home. It has to be, because there’s nowhere else. At 4:22 pm on the 15th of June 2017, Peter Parker is put in the Room. They make a living under duress, fearing at every moment the entry of their captor. Confinement halts their lives in their tracks, changes them both for good: breaks them and brings them together simultaneously.

I also wanted to rec y’all this parkner soulmate au that was super cute but I can’t find it and also this one shot where Peter gets struck by lightning while patrolling but I literally can’t find either of them and I’m v upsetti about it

Forehead lean.

They work across the board. Most of my fanfiction will feature a good old-fashioned forehead lean, it can be a such quick and little gesture but can mean so much to the character at the time. It can be a morning greeting or a tearful goodbye, I will write it! 

It works across every kind of relationship that I write for:

A romantic relationship:

Some Things Never Change (MCU) 

Michelle pulled him closer, pressing her forehead against his.

Run For Your Children (MCU)

[Tony] pressed his forehead against hers and kissed her, having believed only hours before that, he never would be able to again, “Sorry, it took so long.”

losing my balance (again and again) - (9-1-1)

Buck rested their foreheads together.

Or a family relationship: 

Come, My Darling Homeward Bound (MCU)

Peter reached out, gently catching her wrists, “Oh,” He let out a slow strained breath, “Hey…”
