Evan: We know
Regulus: Every single thought I have is about him
Barty: Yes, we know
Regulus: I wish he would just slam me against the wall and have his way with me
Dorcas: Regulus you say this every single day we are aware
Regulus: He's just so ARRRGGGAAARRGGGG and I want to EAT him I need this man biblically he makes me feral

okay okay how should i put this? there's james potter living in a modern au. james is having dreams about the canon universe. he’s a third party observer and having a blast. then james dreams of someone drowning (who could that be?) so he accidentally breaks through the barrier between worlds to save this person, who of course ends up being regulus black.
MEANWHILE
james’ little journey into the canon universe displaces the james potter already there. so where does canon james go? you guessed it. to the modern au world. where a regulus black is also coincidentally nearby.
AND NOW EVERYONE HAS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HOME AND IT’S DOUBLE JEGULUS AND IT FOLLOWS THE STORY IN BOTH UNIVERSES AND IT’S CRAZY BUT REALLY FUN I PROMISE
ok, that’s my fic pitch go read it here byeeee <3
fic: i'll be seeing you

James first sees rock ‘n’ roll dancing when Lily and Remus make a dance floor out of the Gryffindor common room on the first day back to school.
It’s lively and springy and fun. Arms twining and unwinding, bodies rocking back and forth, hips shaking and swinging. Remus seems to genuinely enjoy himself as he skillfully leads her through different figures, their joined hands communicating movements James could have never even pictured. And Lily looks like she’s having the time of her life, hair bouncing around her face, grin wide and joyful as she spins and twists and turns, breathless with energy and laughter.
“I’m going to learn how to do that,” he declares to Sirius.
Sirius (who has never learned how to dance rock ‘n’ roll, but has had extensive schooling in ballroom dancing, courtesy of his pretentious family) raises an eyebrow at him. “You’ve never in your life so much as swayed to the rhythm, Prongs.”
“No matter. I’ll learn.”

I am forever thinking about healing edge James and Sirius relationship. It completes me
Me toooooo! Aren't they just wonderful? Their relationship is always next level in nearly everything, but I loved writing them both in Healing Edge. Pretty much every character in that fic holds my heart in some way, but James has an extra little piece of it because he is perfect in his very imperfect way. <33 I miss them so much.
Thank you for this, lovely little anon!

Barty and James becoming besties after James and Reggie got together is an iconic thing to happen
especially at the point when really only the skittles know about the relationship, so noone has a clue that Barty and James are a duo
and then when they're seen helping each other with an injury half of Hogwarts loses their shit (because come on, Barty? and James?? being friends???)
the other half doesn't believe it until they see James dragging Barty away from a fight so he wouldn't get a detention and Barty actually letting him do so
meanwhile Sirius is having a stroke trying to figure out when the hell did James befriended Barty Crouch Jr. of all people

Remus and Regulus at their weekly study session in the library
Sirius, storming in: WELL WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE. MY BOYFRIEND CANOODLING WITH MY BROTHER.
Remus: Pads, I am not canoodling with Regulus don't be ridiculous.
Regulus: I would never canoodle with Remus, we're studying transfiguration and it wouldn't harm you to look at the textbook once in a while yourself.
Remus: You would really never canoodle with me?
Regulus: Oh, if I wasn't shagging James you would be number one on my list of people to canoodle with don't worry.
Remus: Oh good, same to you but with Sirius.
Sirius: Wait what Rem- Regulus why are you- JAMES AS IN MY BEST FRIEND AS IN JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER?! I'M GOING TO KILL HIM.
Remus: Well, I hope all those 5am Quidditch training sessions were worth it because Prongs is going to need to RUN.

After framing James and Sirius for a prank he planned and executed
Regulus: you’re a menace
Remus: you love me.
Regulus: I wouldn’t go that far.
Remus: ....You're pissed because you had planned a date tonight?
Regulus: Yes I'm pissed because James and I had planned a date tonight.
Remus: You. Me. My peaceful dorm room. Books. Chocolate and Music?
Regulus: I'll be there at 9

Hi I loved the at the healing edge of broken fic you posted!!!! It was lovely, and sad, but lovely.
It made me wonder - whenever James ever finds out Sirius is down or low again, how does he feel beyond just concern? And alternatively, does James know everytime it happens or is it something less obvious now he doesn’t live with them?
I'm so happy you did! It was a labor of love, just like all the rest.
Your treasures may be found below the cut <3
As for James, obviously, with Sirius no longer living with them, he's not going to just instantly know the second Sirius sinks for whatever reason. They're close, but unfortunately they're not actually connected telepathically, not matter how well they can read one another. But that's not to say he won't pick up on it at a later date. Like he sees Sirius the day after, he's in a better place mentally, but James will know, because it lingers for a while in a way only those that know you the best can ever see.
It they talk on the phone, James will hear it in Sirius' voice, those subtle cues they've learned over a lifetime together. It'll be in the faint uptick to the pitch of his voice, the way his words are slower or faster, the sound of his breathing. Most times, all it will take is Sirius just saying James' name in a certain way, and James will know, just as Sirius would know if the situations were reversed. And seeing one another in person...that's something Sirius can never hide. James will always see it even if for some reason Sirius doesn't want him to, but he gets better about trying to hide it so much.
James' feelings are a bit difficult for a long time. It takes him a while to fully understand it all, just what Sirius is going through, how it's truly affected him permanently. Parts of it make sense and others don't, such as Sirius' actions during the story itself. It takes a lot of talking with Lily and Remus, with Sirius himself once he's ready, to get a firmer grasp on just what his friend really needs to be at all helpful in the long run, though James is constantly trying.
Beyond just simple concern and worry, James is absolutely terrified. He's seen Sirius low plenty of times during their friendship, but after what happened with Gideon, the way Sirius handled it, tried to ignore it without ignoring as he processed, after losing Remus, after running from everyone, James panicking, not knowing where he was, if he was okay, if he'd ever come back, it attacks him in the worst way. Every fight with Remus afterwards when Sirius runs to James to rant and gripe flashes Sirius' once hollow face past James' vision. Every mention of his time on the team or Gideon strikes a bit of fear through James, because what if this is it, that one moment that will break it all again.
He spends a lot of time at first chasing around after Sirius, walking on eggshells and making sure everyone else does the same, but that doesn't help, Sirius least of all. It finally settles out a bit after a while, mostly between Lily and Remus constantly reminding him to back off and let Sirius live his life and breathe a little, but he's still scared of losing his friend and brother, can't help the negative reaction that springs up inside him no more than Sirius' can control his own reactions to certain stimuli.
But James, for all his flaws, for his overwhelming bluntness that doesn't always help matters, has always done everything he can for Sirius, been exactly what he needed most in almost every moment. He's scared, but he's there, that sturdy shoulder, the guiding hand, the firm resolve when Sirius loses his own. And as Sirius learns to talk and communicate in more healthy ways, so does James, feeding off him, balancing one another out, James telling Sirius what he needs from him to help just as much as Sirius does the same with James.
