Transfem.Social is currently under fire from their server provider.
Tumblr media
This is one of the places I've begun to upload some of my posts to. Despite the name, it's a uniformly transgender friendly space (as far as I'm aware) for all trans folks, trans men and enbies of any expression included. I'm currently unemployed and can't donate, but if any of you have a bit to spare their links are as follows.
Your support will go a long way to helping keep queer content, including artwork, on the internet and visible for allies of all ages and youth and adults who're in the process of discovering their queer identities.

KOSA AFFECTS US ALL
there will be no room to call for a free palestine, congo, sudan, or yemen when imperialists control what stays on the internet.
there will be no room for sharing queer joy, safe binding and tucking guides, or tutorials on how to safely navigate kink when queerphobes and puritans decide what kinda of relationships and identities are "acceptable".
there will be no room for anticapitalism, protest organizing, pirating, or sharing anti-establishment resources when the establishment can erase whatever ideas are too threatening to them to stay.
there will be no room to be someone who doesn't conform.
DOWNLOAD ALL THAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. PROTEST AS LOUDLY AS POSSIBLE. SIGN PETITIONS. BUILD ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATIONS FOR YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS. AND DO IT NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

I’m not sure when exactly this happened, but I think it’s clear that the aro community really is a community, now.
For the longest time I’ve felt like we were still in stasis, not quite there; a proto-community, yes, but not quite a community. But we have more history now to lean back on, more of each other to talk to and laugh with and cry with and learn from. More people that’ll go forward and make a part of modern aro history. More people that believe us, believe in us, will stand with us if we ask them.
I wouldn’t consider myself an aro elder yet, though each year I’m surprised at how long aromanticism has been a part of my life, how long I’ve been free of doubt or insecurity about my aromanticism, how far we’ve come since I was questioning. Then again, when I was questioning, some of the people I looked up to for guidance were probably close to the age I am now, so I might be there sooner than I think.
And, I’m so so hopeful for all aros, young or old, new or not, because we’ve come so far. Day by day, progress is slow (and yes, it’s unfair, it should be so much faster), but looking back it feels fast. We are our own role models, the people we look up to for guidance. We carve our own path through life, making things up as we go. I used to find that terrifying, because I had no idea what the future would bring. But it’s actually amazing, because I can ignore all these silly “rules” and guidelines about what my life should be, and instead ask, “what do I want my life to be?”
Younger me, you have no idea how awesome your future is gonna be. I’m sorry about the pain and hardship you’ll go through first; it won’t be fair and you shouldn’t have to deal with it. But you’ll make it through, and one day you’ll be me. I can’t wait for you to get here.

it sucks how much queer sex/expression in art gets sensationalized by the general public to the point of making the actors themselves uncomfortable when all they did was portray queerness, like as a queer person observing it happen in real time it always feels so othering when people can't just be normal about it
oh my god yeah. i’ve been thinking about it all day and obviously it's all speculation as to whether or not that's the reason barry's kind of distancing himself from saltburn, but the way people have been acting about jacob and barry after this movie is fucking crazy.
it's so annoying that straight characters get to just be characters who live and die inside of the story that they were created for. but for some reason, portraying a queer character is regarded as a sort of admission of the actor.
i think you're so right in talking about the sensationalism of queerness and i think it largely comes from the belief that queerness is something to be hidden and unveiled when the time is right. which means that any peak into a person's relationship with queer identity (in this case, barry playing a queer man and then extending this act to the pr surrounding the movie) opens them up to a line of questioning that they very well might not want to talk about. it's none of our business whether or not they're dating, and frankly it's delusional to assume that they MUST have a something romantic or sexual going on just because of the way their characters acted in saltburn.
the inability to draw lines between what's real and fiction and the pushing assumption that queerness is owed to us by people who play queer characters is so concerning. actors act. it is their job. not allowing them work-life separation is immature at best and harmful when taken to this extreme.

The KOSA bill is so incredibly terrifying to me as a precedent on a personal level because on paper it's to 'protect the children' but the real intended and desired outcome is exactly what I went through all my life, what I'm still going through for the time being
It sounds silly and people can scoff all they want saying how maybe it's not such a bad thing, but in the hands of the type of parents who want this bill it will do nothing but harm. There is nothing more isolating and paralyzingly scary than the knowledge that even online can't be an escape or source of help or community anymore, because the people who already have full control of your autonomy can now watch every digital move you make, censor and block absolutely anything they want. It doesn't matter if you're not doing anything wrong because to the parents who want this anything you do can be wrong, especially exploring and discovering your own queer identity - among any other number of things.
And of course it doesn't stop there because if they can pass this kind of bill, how much further can they push this?

Actually concerning lately how many hostile comments I have seen about queer women in kpop circles on here and twitter that are kind of framed through the guise of statements you can't really argue with like 'idols are real people' and 'idols deserve privacy' but with a tone that just shows how much people hate queer women more than they care about idols being real people and their privacy. Like I will see people say things about female idols like 'Women attractor!!' And then when a queer woman actually says something about being attracted to them they'll log on like woah now idols are real people you shouldn't sexualize what if she sees that and gets uncomfortable by the possibility of a woman being attracted to her :( Or female idols will be on stage kissing each other on the mouth and if a queer woman says anything along the lines of how they're just like us people will be like woah now!! Don't speculate :( Idols are real people too :( And with the Karina dating rumor especially I don't even know anything about Karina but my Twitter feed this morning was full of recommended tweets with concerning amounts of likes (one had upwards of 100k) that were basically phrased like 'You disgusting women likers are delusional for thinking she ever would have dated you!! What predatory freaks some people like men and are just straight and you freaks are going to have to accept that'
#and some tweet too that i don't even know what sparked was someone tweeting that yunjin was straight and to get over it#and there were hundreds of replies like yeah most girls like dick get over it lesbo freaks#like i don't see how i haven't seen more people disturbed by the phrasing of these posts#i even saw girls like it's okay to joke about female idols being women attractors etc but at the end of the day it's a joke and all idols...#...are straight and queer women that identify with them or even are attracted to them are freaks#when i see so many posts every day i want to vomit of guy idols doing really routine shit like eating dinner or watching tv#with girls going on and on about how boyfriend coded that is that they're eating dinner#that's not annoying or delusional (and the amount they use delusional is concerning too i am just using it here to quote how they talk)#but you want to put your fist through a wall every time a woman says something like that about another woman#that says more about you hating queer women than it does caring about idols' privacy actually when it's only ever women talking about...#...women idols that i see people mad at and ~ uncomfortable~ with#and i just keep seeing it more and more lately. what makes me the maddest too is that people will post about liking women like it's a...#...safe space to do so but when it really comes down to it it's posts that are all i thought we were all joking about liking women#i saw so many girls that were livid saying some girls are straight that it was bonkers#it must be so hard to be someone logging on the internet every day going what about people that do conform :( what about us normal people :(

Honestly I kinda wonder if the reason hate groups are allowed to post freely and break the TOS on the reg is because Tumblr staff (specifically the CEO) hopes they'll chase the rest of us off so they can stop pandering to queer people

If there is one thing I learned this week, it's that you really can just say something absolutely untrue, and there is a strong chance barely anyone is going to check it.

I (genuinely!) love how having many writing WIPs and having a books TBR list is a little bit like raising bunnies. it’s like,
1. you have 34 fanfic ideas.
2. you write one (1) fanfic, using one of the ideas.
3. you now have 57 fanfic ideas.
and for books it’s a lot like,
1. you have 150 books on your TBR.
2. you read two (2) books.
3. you now have 168 books on your TBR.
like, it’s genuinely, literally, something that delights me so much, that the more you read/write, the more things you discover you have yet to read/write still. it’s such a joy, and I love how creating your own stories and reading other people’s stories truly just keeps yes/and-ing itself to infinity :)
it’s like one of my favorite lines from The Lion King’s song The Circle of Life,
there is more to see than can ever be seen /
more to do than can ever be done
like. isn’t that beautiful? ♡

the endless endless takes on queerbaiting turning into like tonedeaf throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks are killing me. i wish that term never got popular. what the fuck do you mean a man wearing a dress or a skirt is only doing that to manipulate women? what the fuck are you talking about. think for two fucking seconds about how that really sounds. please.

i like to think that after season 2 crowley goes on another demon sprint spreading low-grade evil and wide-spread inconveniences just to spite heaven (and aziraphale, whom he hopes is watching from above).
