Tumblr media
Here's a 1930 home in Reno, Nevada that looks like a beautiful French chalet. So, why hasn't the 5bd, 4.5ba $1.1M home sold? Perhaps it's the decor?
Tumblr media
But, who wouldn't want to come home to magical pink swirling walls & ceilings?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or to relax in front of the fireplace in the huge, distorted-funhouse-mirrored living room.
Tumblr media
And, if you're not dizzy yet, don't go in the bathroom. The mirrors in here look coppery. I do like the pink fixtures, though. Isn't this bathroom gigantic?
Tumblr media
Is this the dining room? I don't know, I'm so disoriented. (Is that a trap door in the floor?) Maybe this is a dining/family room combo.
Tumblr media
I thought that this was a bath, but it's the kitchen. Wow, look at the cabinetry. It looks like they attached big 3D appliques to cheap doors.
Tumblr media
Don't think you've escaped the swirls, b/c they're in the bedroom, too. Shouldn't they have matched the wallpaper pattern, so it looks seamless, though?
Tumblr media
This could be the primary bedroom with the draped ceiling and shelves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The en-suite is nice. I mean, in comparison to everything else.
Tumblr media
Wow. Well, it's a bedroom, but the daybed suggests it's a guest room.
Tumblr media
Here's an idea I never thought of. Names all over the ceiling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We're in the new addition to the house and it has a nice floor and stone. There's a kitchenette in the corner, so it must be an entertaining space.
Tumblr media
Up the spiral stairs, there's another open room.
Tumblr media
Now, we're in the newest addition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Could this be another primary suite? A grand piano in the corner of a huge room with an open bath nook. I have no idea, but surely there's plenty of room to enclose this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is that a bar in the corner? Maybe this is a rec room.
Tumblr media
A room with 2 steps down and an alcove. I don't think it could be a bedroom, but who knows?
Tumblr media
By the look of the stone floor, which seems to be a bit of a rough terrain, this may be a sun room. I can't tell if it's clouds or a map on the ceiling.
Tumblr media
There's a day bed in here off the sun room, so maybe it's a lounge or a guest room.
Tumblr media
I think that this is a guest powder room, but the mirrors throw me off.
Tumblr media
The original part of the house.
Tumblr media
Here's a pond with a walkway.
Tumblr media
And, the newer part each have courtyards.
Tumblr media
The newest addition. I'm not sure, but the gate is probably the entrance to the property, which measures a total of .25 acre.

So, I've been trying to give my living areas a design-on-the-dime makeover to feel like an actual, authentic 90s/early 2000s house. I've been thinking about replacing the rugs as my rugs are very "Walmart in 2014," but rugs are SO expensive I couldn't justify it.
BUT THEN.
I was at the thrift store the other day and they had this huge bin of rugs for $20 a piece, and they were big rugs, too!
...But they were bound with tape and plastic so they couldn't be unfurled. All I could tell was that they were very thick/nice quality and a burgundy and beige combo, which is exactly what my mom and all family members had in the 90s/00s.
So I asked the thrift store owner if he knew what kind of condition they're in and he said they were immaculate and came from an older couple's estate. Awesome. Cool.
Here's $40. I'm putting two of these bad boys in my car.
So I buy two rugs completely at random with no idea what might be on them. I get them home. I unload them. I unfurl the first one and
Tumblr media
IT'S A VEGETABLE RUG?????
I just stood there, floored. On one hand, vegetable rug. On the other hand, vegetable rug.
This is so 90s mom Tuscan kitchen. This is the rug in the dining room of your friend's house where their parents make more money than your parents and you eat spaghetti at their dining room table after swimming in their pool. This is the rug in the dining room of your great aunt's house where no one actually eats in the dining room, it's just for show and there's crystalware on the table at all times.

Pet Sitter AU
So anyways ummm I've had this locked and loaded for a while. It's not complete. Buuuut it's a comfort AU for me so I shall talk about it when I need it most! (Like rn) I have more I'll add eventually, but if you have any world-building questions lmk!!!
-------------------------------------
The premise/the basis of all this is Cater needs to get away from home when he's finally at his breaking point and ends up leaving, no plans, nothing packed, just his wallet, his phone + charger, and the clothes on his back. He ends up calling in an old favour to Trey, a classmate he hasn't seen or spoken to in years, who comes to pick him up off the street and lets him stay in his apartment he shares with Che'nya until Cater can get back on his feet.
Cater recognizes he needs to get his shit together, but he's a depressed mess and has largely been isolated from other people besides his family, so when another person in the apartment needs a last minute pet sitter, he figures it's a small enough task he can handle.
this is based off of this comic
In which Idia has a skrunkly ass stray cat named Meat Spud (Cater does not want to touch it whatsoever bc it has. no fur. He's used to his sister's big fluffy spoiled cats)
The Apartment
So like. Idk, my brain liked the idea of each floor of an apartment building being more luxurious than the floor below it. Im by no means an architect or have any bg in this stuff, apologies if it like. Irks anyone sldkjfhlskdjf
it's a 15 story apartment building with roof access
- First Floor - Apartments are one bedroom, a kitchen and a living room, as well as a small "porch" area outside. There are communal bathrooms + laundry. Unfurnished Rent is ~$560 a month (about 20 apartments are available) There's also a communal deep freeze for anyone who needs more room for their food, but the apartment is not responsible for any losses that may occur.
- Second floor - Still one (larger) bedroom/kitchen/living area, but you get your own bathroom (woo), but the shower is like. the same design as a public shower, you know? like just the spout coming out from the wall. Tenants are still expected to use the laundry room on the first floor though. Small balcony/outdoor area. Comes with a bed + couch. Rent is ~$610 a month (about 15 apartments available)
- Third floor - options for two bedroom apartments become available, but the rooms are Very Small. Balcony is about the same size as the second floor. There is room for a small dining area. The bathroom has a free standing shower. Rent is ~$660 a month (Also about 15 apartments available) Rent has some variation depending on whether you get a furnished or partially furnished apartment
- Fourth floor - More spacious in general, better options for two bedroom spaces if needed, there is a gym on this floor which kinda cuts into how many apartments are available. Most are partially furnished, but there are options available/the lease is negotiable to a certain extent. Still just a free standing shower in the bathroom. Yes there's still a balcony. Rent is ~$700 a month (only about 7 apartments available because of the gym)
- Fifth floor - Tenants finally get their own laundry machines lkjshdfkjdf woo, more spacious, etc. they get a bath + shower combo in the bathroom + a decent sized balcony. They can opt in/out for once a month room service for an additional $50 a month (this increases by $10 the higher the floor but remains an option). Rent is ~$800 a month (about 10 apartments available)
- Sixth to eighth floor are all about the same, just getting slightly bigger (like by 1-3 square feet) as they go up, but they all become two bedroom options. Rent falls between ~$850-$870 with about 8 apartments available on each floor.
- ninth to twelveth floor are all about the same, they get a shower and a bath in their (2) bathrooms, like they're separate from each other, they have walk in closets in the master bedrooms, and they get a storage room. They still are 2 bedroom. Rent falls between $1100 - $1350 a month (only 6 available on each floor)
- there is a thirteenth floor, but it's not an option on the elevator. The owners of the apartment are superstitious and don't rent out any rooms on the thirteenth floor, but wanted to HAVE a thirteenth floor bc...in the event there are ghosts or something in their apartment they would be stuck on the floor with the most energy?? Idk man. Nothing is furnished. Just empty rooms. "Empty" Rooms. :)
- The fourteenth floor is like. luxury apartments. they get the whole shebang with walk in closets for every (3) bedroom, full bathrooms (2) huge livingroom, huge kitchen with up to date appliances, and once a month there's a full course meal that's just brought to the tenants for dinner. They're living the high life for the same price a lot of people are sharing a house with four people withs flkjshdlkjfsdf Rent is ~$2000-$2100 a month. There are only 4 of these apartments, the balcony wrapping around each one
- and of course, the fifteenth floor. Literally. It's like having an actual house to live in but you get a great view of the city from above. It's ridiculous. four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, like it's just big and beautiful and bright. as for the food, it's "complimentary" (factored into rent) and happens every other week. Or it would if the people living up there didn't opt out of it lsdkjfhlksdjf the apartment owners don't care it saves them money. Rent is ~$2500 a month.
And you might be like. hey. that rent doesn't actually sound that bad.
I know.
I know. Like I share Half a house with four other girls and the total rent per month is $3100. My rent alone is $575. But I wanted to be nice (I did not plan out the rent before this and I simply do not care enough to change it I think I'm being "reasonable" with it)
ONTO THE CHARACTERS
Okay:
Basement
- Jamil (22) – Yeeeah baby he gets the whole basement to himself. Almost. Like there’s a section for all the maintenance and storage stuff, but he gets to live at the hotel rent free because he’s friends with the owners (the Asim’s), and works for them at the front desk. He doesn’t even have to do the cleaning. It’s the freakin’ dream. In order to actually make money though, he does have side gigs so he can deck out the basement however he wants + do what he wants for fun. He has plans to keep snakes eventually, but he’s saving up for his dream enclosure as well as the extra heat lamps he would need for down there.
First Floor
- Ace (21)- Ace's mother divorced their dad she found out about some of the bad habits he had been up to. Just a little over a year ago, his mom became extremely ill and his big brother Jack became the main provider of the family, trying to take care of their mom and his little brother. Ace knew he wasn't outwardly being a burden, but he still felt like one and decided to save up and move out. Shortly after moving out, he lost his job, so he's desperately been searching for another one, but also been doing what he can as a little entrepreneur. Nothing's been super successful yet, which has been super discouraging but he has a couple repeat clients for his stickers that he makes. He also has 4 pet hamsters which he keeps on a live stream most of the time, (they're all named after card games). All he has for furniture is a desk, two rickety old chairs he probably found in an alley somewhere, his mattress and a dresser. His place is a bit of a mess with the stress he's under, and he's had to ask Jack for money a couple times which only makes him feel worse.
- Riddle (18)- Riddle has been playing violin since he was just A Baby (like 3) and had been on fairly good terms with his mother. She encouraged him to move to the city as a means of giving himself more opportunities, and she would pay for his rent. A few months in, Riddle realizes oh shit. I'm gay. And decides to come out to his mother because he has no reason to believe she wouldn't take it well. Well. she doesn't. She immediately disowns him and stops paying his rent for him. He can barely pay for one month on his own, and decides he needs a roommate. He did not really....do any digging into his roommate because he was just desperate to have one...(eventually, when things get better, he gets a pet hedgehog)
- Ruggie (21) - Riddle's Roommate :) He's the only reason Riddle's apartment is furnished, because he manages to find things on sale or on the street or whatever and clean it up. He thought Riddle was joking when he said he wanted to be a musician In This Economy. Ruggie doesn't mind one bit sleeping on the couch. He keeps himself sustained through whatever means necessary. (Doesn’t really want a pet because of the cost, but likes Riddle’s hedgehog a lot)
Second Floor
- Rook (24) – Rook is a blue collar worker, I think in construction? He owns a really old, well behaved golden lab and a brand new, very energetic bichon frisee puppy. They absolutely adore each other. He has no contact with any of his family.
- Deuce (19) – Moved out to be closer to work. He’s currently an apprentice as a mechanic, but on the side he offers blastcycle modifications (so long as they’re legal), and also babysits! He ends up adopting like 4 German Shepard mix (unknown, they’re not purebred) puppies with his roommate because they were both too much of bleeding hearts to give them away or sell them once they found them. It was already tight, (spaciously), because their one bedroom was already split in half with a paper divider, but they surrendered the livingroom to the puppies. Money wise, it is a little tight.
- Epel (19) – Deuce’s roomie. He was the one who found the puppies. He tried to leave them, he really did but Then He Couldn’t. Epel’s family supports him because their farm is successful, it’s not ‘a lot’ but they send him about $150 a month just to help out in the big city. Epel met Deuce at work, his lease was almost up and asked if he could move in because Deuce was venting a little bit about rent. Epel is apprenticing as a fabricator – he’s already a pretty good mechanic because of the upkeep he had to do on the farm, but fabrication seemed fun, profitable, and secure so he decided to try it out. Lowkey has a goal to get into all the trades as an apprentice eventually. He also has his own blastcycle and does late night delivery service as a side gig.
- Jack (19) – Moved to the city to go to school. He wrote home about how he felt really…lonely without his family, and his mom ended up gifting him a Samoyed puppy the next time he came home. She sends him money for all puppy related expenses, and he works part time at a fast food restaurant to help sustain his rent. He’s going to school on a scholarship for his athleticism, and could technically afford a nicer apartment, but he’s trying to be smart with his money. He’s also working to develop his own fitness trainer app because he wants to help people exercise to feel good, not necessarily to loose weight or anything.
- (Nameless OC) – She’s like a 75 year old widow who has a crush on her upstairs neighbour on floor 4. She’s adorable, she’s a little Korean grandma. Every now and then her daughter comes to visit. Her daughter is the one who ends up adopting (human) Grim + Gidel (both friends with Ortho) (Jack helps her bring up her groceries a lot)
Third Floor
- Jade + Floyd (21) – They actually live in a single room apartment, because they toured both a two bedroom and single room and found that they could make more use of bedroom space in a single room. They’ve never met Azul in this AU (I’ll explain this later in ‘relationships’) and are fairly new to land. Jade’s side of the room is all terrariums, his isopods and springtails are his baaaaabies. Floyd has a huge glass enclosure on his side of the room for his Albino Burmese Python. He thought it was a ball python when he first got it. Uh. Yeah. He puts in a lot of work and sourcing people who can teach him how to care for it properly, he’s a great snake dad. When it’s available, Jade will feed the shed skin of Floyd’s snake to his isopods. Floyd also retains some of his strength from having been a mer, so it’s not entirely uncommon for him to answer the door with a snake scarf. They’ve both got working Visas for now to be on land, and Jade is working towards figuring out all the paperwork to become land citizens for both of them. Jade works in a greenhouse, but also sells custom terrariums, Floyd works at a pizza place and LOVES it.
- Trey (23) – He works at his parents bakery basically for free, as they make sure he has enough to cover his rent, groceries and phone bills. He only moved out to escape the chaos that is his household of (hc) 11 children. He is a volunteer firefighter, and the apartment Loves him because he brings leftover treats the bakery can’t sell anymore and just gives them out. Also just. The third floor smells great, all the time because he’s always baking something or other.
- Che’nya (22) – A bit of a freelancer, Trey isn’t even entirely sure what Che’nya does for work, but he always pays his rent on time so he doesn’t really care. Most of the time though, Che’nya works at a coffeeshop. They don’t have a pet in the apartment, though Che’nya kinda wants one.
Fourth Floor
- (Nameless OC) – 76 year old Korean grandpa. Has a crush on the lady two floors below him. They’re adorable and will end up together eventually sldkjhlksdf
Fifth Floor
- Azul (22) – Also a musician, he plays piano and has mommy’s money sustaining him for the most part lmao He’s managed to land a few gigs here and there, but it’s not really enough to keep him going. He ends up getting work at a museum as the person at the front desk and really enjoys it. He gets a couple perks that really make the job worth it (free lunch + 2 museum passes a month so he can go in for free with a friend. If he had any friends) He has a rather impressive tropical fish aquarium.
I don’t have anyone I Want on the 6th floor
Seventh Floor
- Silver (23) – Was raised in the foster care system, but never adopted. He vaguely remembers being taken off the streets and somewhere warm by some black and pink long-haired Guy but that’s about it. He’s always been pretty resourceful, and runs his own, small pajama company, has been since he was 18. He mostly gets to work from home now which is really nice. He owns 2 bearded dragons. He only has a roommate because he didn’t see the point in having a wasted space of a bedroom. It’s kinda funny because it’s almost like there’s an invisible line in the apartment where you can tell which roommate decorated which side of the space sldjfhksdjf
- Sebek (18) – Silver’s roommate. It’s his first time living away from home and he doesn’t really know how to cope. He insists he knows what he’s doing, but Silver can tell he has a lot of life skills left to develop and tries to teach him in subtle ways. While this will be mentioned again later, Sebek is emo in this au LMAO. Sebek also insists that he doesn’t care about the bearded dragons, but he learns how to handle them and ends up loving them and helping Silver take care of them without being asked. Sebek’s dad helps him pay for half of his rent, but he’s responsible for his own groceries which…is where he finds it more difficult to be honest. Sebek was initially going to go into school to become a dental assistant, but he finds it. So boring. And kinda gross. So he ends up going to become a veterinarian. Is his ‘bedside manner’ the best with animals? No. But he’ll learn. Sebek currently works part-time as a parking attendant.
Eighth Floor
- Idia (23) + Ortho (9) (this is a lil. Depressy-espressy okay?) – A little over a year ago, Ortho was in a car crash with his parents. It ended up orphaning the Shrouds and left Ortho crippled from the waist down. Idia feels like he should carry some of the blame because he didn’t get there fast enough, he wasn’t there to protect his brother, etc. etc. but Ortho doesn’t blame him for anything. Idia did inherit the family home, but it felt too big and empty without his parents, and Ortho said he wanted a new space to try and reset. So they’re living off their parents will + business money still, Idia doesn’t really have to do much to keep it running so he can focus largely on Ortho. Ortho’s mobility is very limited early on, using only a wheel chair, but as he attends physiotherapy, he learns to use forearm crutches and he’s very optimistic about being able to walk again. Ortho attends online school, after having challenged a few grades, he’s working on grade 7 level homework/classes. Idia only takes in his cat, Meat Spud, about a month before Cater shows up. It’s a feral, horrifically mannered little gremlin but he Loves It and is the first thing in a long time that kinda shocked him out of his depression for a little bit. Ortho named it. He also refuses to touch it lsdjhlkjsdf but he finds it funny. Ortho deeeesperately wants a White’s Tree Frog because he’s done his research and knows he could handle it. He wants to name it. Cornelius. Also, the kid just generally. Loves frogs. Please let him info dump to you. Please. He knows So Much.
I got nobody in my mind until floor 13
- Lilia(???) – He’s the ‘ghost’ of the apartment. Not really. He is a squatter. Nobody knows how he got in. Nobody cares enough to shoo him out or complain about it because most people don’t even know he’s there. He’s got ‘pet’ rats. They’re city rats he’s befriended with food. It’s not that he doesn’t have money. Don’t ask me to explain him I don’t fully know how it works yet sldkjfhlskdjf
Jumping up to the 15th floor
- Vil (24) – A model, and actor and a successful fashion designer, Vil loved the concept of the apartment which was really the only reason he chose to move in rather than own his own place. He is trained as a falconer, and does have a ‘pet’ falcon. ‘Pet’ as in it is not captive bred, but it was a rescue. For the most part, it flies freely, and only comes back to the apartment for the sake of companionship or for a safe place to sleep. Vil mostly keeps tabs on it’s health. (I need to research this more but like it’s less of a pet and more just a wild animal Vil has favour with and he recognizes that.) He also has two Great Danes from the same litter named Iris and Poppy
- Vizzie (21) – She is a vtuber and Vil’s roommate (will go over this more in Relationships). In person, she is *largely* non-verbal. She’s more of a listener/observer. She has a ‘pet’ crow. Shortly after being friends with Vil she found an injured fledgling and followed instructions over the phone on how to care for it to transport it to a National Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, then decides she would like to actually like to become licensed as a wildlife rehab. Officer. When that crow was cleared to return to the wild, it ended up following her around anyways, so once she finished her certification she knew legally she *could* handle the crow if need be. She ended up getting permission to set up an ‘enrichment station’ on the roof, so ‘her’ crow can has a safe, man-made stimulation board basically and can bring any of it’s friends along, but it’s also not uncommon to see it sitting on her shoulder. It is trained well enough that she brings it into the apartment now and then, but most of it’s time is spent outside. It also loves delivering messages for her. It’s name is Ragnar.
- Neige (22) – You’ll never guess. Yeah. He’s a successful model, actor and fashion designer. He’s got permission from the owners to keep pigeons on the roof. You can imagine the commotion that happens when they see Vil’s falcon, even if Vil does stay on the opposite side of the roof when he interacts with it. He likes the apartment because it’s central so all the volunteer and charity opportunities are within walking distance. He ends up also bringing home a box of sopping wet kittens at one point, but gives all but one away because of his roommate.
- Leona (25) – Neige’s roommate. I think both his parents recently passed away, so the family business was passed onto his brother. Falena is concerned about Leona’s mental and physical health, so offered to pay his rent for him. Leona wasn’t going to say no. Currently doesn’t have a job. Doesn’t really plan to get a job. He will eventually become a lawyer (?). He ends up adopting the runt of the litter of kittens Neige brought home and named her Mgambo. She’s got a tortoise-shell coat.
----------------------------------
Others
- Kalim (22)– his parents own the apartment. He wanted to live there, but they ended up buying him his own place. It doesn’t matter, he’s in the lobby every day, (no job), chattering away to Jamil and trying to contain his six ferrets and an African Grey Parrot that he keeps mostly on his shoulder. He isn’t the most responsible pet owner, but he loves them and tries his best. Jamil often gives him pointers, and he listens to all of them (most are to make Jamil’s life easier but keeps Kalim’s pets safer anyways)
- Malleus (??)– Not quite sure where he lives in the city, but he knows Lilia lives at the apartment and goes to visit him often. He doesn’t understand why he chooses to live the way he does, but won’t comment on it. He has a pet raven but Idrk how he got it. If it’s even legal. It is a happy bird though and that’s what matters most.
-------------------------------------
I'll elaborate on more ships later but for now
Azul + Riddle – The twins instigate this lmao, they’re right in between the two musicians and love just laying on their balcony after a long day and listening to both of them practice. Floyd ends up yelling down to Riddle that Azul – the pianist above them, said his music lacks emotion, and Jade tells Azul in passing that while *he* enjoys his music, the little redhead on the first floor said that his music sounds amateurish. This sparks a competition between the two. Keep in mind. They can’t really hear each other. They’re both just swayed by the twins words . It ends up helping both of them, as Riddle realizes he’s always played the violin for his mothers approval, it’s always been mechanical to him, so he slowly starts to really tune in (hehe) to his emotions, why he chooses to play the violin, the sense of loss he feels with his mother, but still wanting to make her proud, and a part of his mind thinking if he can ‘beat’ Azul, if his mother knew, she would be proud, but that slowly becomes less and less important as time goes on. Azul, on the other hand, knows that he’s had less time than the many musicians to perfect his craft, but he’s mostly been forcing himself to learn impressive sounding pieces rather than really learning the basics and practicing them. Eventually there will be a night where they can hear each other, maybe like all the electricity goes out and either out of boredom or to try and lift people’s spirits they both end up playing, but it’s the first time they really hear each other play and they manage to make something beautiful. The twins then ‘ruin’ the moment after a beat of silence from both of them to ask when they’ll finally go on a date. Both immediately deny wanting anything like that. By the next week Azul mentions something about having a free pass to the museum and Riddle doesn’t think it’s a date until he Gets There and realizes it is.
Idia, Cater, Viz are a polycule, but Viz dates Ace as well
Jade and Trey are a thing
Deuce and Epel, maybe?
Vil and Leona
Who knows
Not me
The rest is still being workshopped
I'll elaborate on ships later
And character aesthetics bc Vil and Viz being the resident Goths are soooo important to me.
Anyways
Uh
Ye

ok I'm canadian so thanksgiving was weeks ago for me but. just thinking about being with the fruity four post-vecna when you're all squared up in the Harrington house, living and sleeping and spending all your time together, sharing your lives together as you intended to. but since the holidays are rolling around and your house is by far the biggest for all the guests you wanna invite, you guys are the ones that end up hosting the big turkey dinners and gatherings for the kids and their families to come to. you've even got the Hopper-Byers clan, Hellfire, and uncle Wayne to come, which makes it even more lively--especially since, ironically, the Harrington parents themselves are a no-show.
however, the catch is that none of them really know the nature of your relationship. Dustin has ideas but he's not positive, he just thinks you guys are really close and he heard Eddie calling Steve babygirl so he's assuming there's something going on. also Max has seen you peck Robin on the cheek before. and Mike's caught Steve at Nancy's former bedroom window to get an old knickknack she forgot. and Erika knows for a fact that you like Eddie because she's sat next to you at Hellfire--and she's seen those cheesy hearts circling his name in your notebook. but either way, whatever it is you're doing they really don't mind, and they're just glad to spend the holidays with their favourite honorary older brothers and sisters. it's difficult to be spending such nice quality time with everyone but not be able to show affection to each other, because you just have to pretend you're friends and roommates, bustling around the kitchen to make dinner together and figuring out table settings for all your guests.
but you get lucky when someone fixes up a thatch of mistletoe above the doorway between the kitchen and the dining room, the fist bump/high five combo between El, Max, and Will going unnoticed as they wait for the trap to spring. and when the five of you cycle in and out to bring the food to the table, none of them miss the opportunity to chant "kiss! kiss! kiss!" when two of you get caught underneath. it's a game but also a challenge--can the party members figure out who it is that's actually dating off of a kiss?
needless to say, most of you are quite subtle because you're just happy you get to kiss the ones you love on this special occasion--light pecks and goofy cheek kisses aplenty. but the ass-grabbing and the mouthful of tongue from Eddie when he catches both you and Steve under the mistletoe keeps everyone guessing.

Vampire!John Wick x reader
Chapter 2
Masterlists Chapter 1 Summary:The Den doesn't exactly seem like Y/n's idea of a fun Friday night, but after she encounters the night club's mysterious owner, John, she finds herself becoming increasingly intrigued by him- and embroiled in the secret world of vampires. Chapter summary: Y/n's first date with John has a peculiar end. Warnings- Vampires, mentions of mind control
Tumblr media
Hey there pretty girl……
We’re connected now….
With a startle, she awoke; eyes flying upon as she shot up in bed. Her chest rose and fell with heavy breaths while the thin silk of her camisole clung to her skin, drenched in a cold sweat. Letting the duvet gather at her hips, Y/n scrubbed her hands over her face, and just a moment spent with her eyes completely blocked out was enough to stir memories of her barely dissipated dream;
Cold hands exploring her body.
An oddly familiar voice in her ear.
A face that she’d lost way too many hours thinking about.
John.
Swallowing thickly to remedy the dryness in her throat, Y/n attempted to remedy her heavy breathing, but the more she thought about the dream, the quicker her heart beat and consequently, the more erratic her breathing. For about a week, without fail, she’d thought about John almost constantly; he was interrupting her waking life, and now, apparently her sleep. She’d never been that consumed by another person, and to think that she could become almost obsessive over a man she’d only properly met once- not counting their few phone and text conversations since that Sunday night- was alarming.
What was it about him?
Glancing at the digital clock at her bedside, Y/n sighed in irritation upon realizing that it was just after two in the morning. Her throat was still dry and after the dream she’d just had, she doubted that she’d be getting back to sleep anytime soon. It had been so realistic, it was hard to believe that her mind had managed to conjure up something so lifelike after just one interaction. She could have sworn that she’d heard his voice like he was speaking merely a centimeter away from her ear,  felt the weight of his lips on her neck and his icy grip on her hips- everything about him was so cold. The whole thing had felt so real;
Maybe they really were connected.
Y/n couldn’t determine if the thought was frightening or enthralling.
As she sat in the darkness, her room only illuminated by a haunting mixture of the moon’s glow and the city lights, Y/n scrubbed her hands over her face again, as if the gesture could eradicate any thought of John from her mind. But it didn’t and upon determining that sleep wasn’t in the near future, Y/n shoved the covers off and  planted her feet on the fuzzy rug at her bedside. Forgoing her robe and slippers, she trudged out of the room and towards the kitchen, up the hall.
With a stifled yawn, she broke out of the hall and into the kitchen, jumping in surprise when she spotted Angie sitting at the breakfast bar that separated their small kitchen from their equally tiny living and dining room combo. Her face, and the area immediately around her,  was illuminated by the harsh light emanating from her laptop and upon noting her in the doorway, Angie pushed her glasses up over her forehead, “Hey, what’re you doing up?” She looked mostly fine, from what Y/n could see, but sounded a little congested.
Y/n huffed, smiling as she rolled her eyes, “I could ask you the same thing.” For a week, she’d been aching to tell Angie about what had happened at the club, and everything since then, but Y/n knew how it sounded and while she trusted Angie to not judge her, she couldn’t count on the hope that she wouldn’t start worrying. The last thing she wanted was for her friend to be concerned for no reason.
Before Angie could offer up a response, she coughed loudly and Y/n frowned, "Are you okay?"
“I'm fine,” Angie sniffled, "My throat feels funny," she coughed again, "But its whatever." She leaned against the short back of the bar stool, “I’m working on my dissertation because Dr. Mitchell,” her supervisor, “Wants to see something new- like tomorrow.”
“Ang!” Y/n scolded lightly, padding over to the refrigerator to get a bottle of water out. "You sound sick, have you taken anything?"
“You know I do my best work under pressure. And no, because I'm not sick,” Angie defended with another sniffle, “Now your turn. Why are you up?”
Y/n shook her head dismissively, “Its nothing.’ Angie pressed though, doing her best to siphon something out of her, insisting that she knew Y/n well enough to determine that she wouldn’t be up and about at that hour unless something was going on. “It was just….a weird dream,” she relented. At just the thought of it, her cheeks heated up and Y/n was grateful that the lights were off so Angie wouldn’t be able to see her bashful expression.
Intrigued, Angie hummed, “Weird sexy or weird weird?”
Y/n sighed heavily, “I don’t know…..both?”
“Okay that you have to tell me,” Angie concluded tone hampered by the subtle hoarseness of her throat and her obviously blocked sinuses, “Come on,” she enticed when Y/n didn’t make an effort to offer anything, “Spill.”
“Ugh,” groaning, she leaned against the tiled counter near the sink, recapping her water bottle but keeping it in hand so she could play with the top. “Fine,” she paused, thinking it over to make sure she didn’t seem completely insane. “It was a dream….about this guy,” She licked her lips, “I have a date with him….today. Tonight?” Squinted her eyes, trying to work out the mechanics of the time.
“You have a date and you didn’t say anything. Not cool babe,” Angie scolded, pushing her computer away a little in favor of planting her elbows on the smooth surface, “Tell me everything; what’s his name, where’d you meet him?”
Swallowing thickly, Y/n hesitated, “We met….at The Den,” and before Angie could elicit a quip about how that ‘wasn’t so bad’,  Y/n added, “But it was only for a minute,” she exhaled before blurting out, “So I went back, twice.” Upon realizing that it seemed even worse out loud, Y/n grimaced.
She could barely see Angie, but Y/n knew for a fact that she was flashing her a wide-eyed, shocked stare, “You stalked him?”
“Wha-no!” Stuttering, Y/n struggled to gather a more reasonable excuse, “It was not stalking,” she defended unsteadily, “It doesn’t even matter anymore, I saw him again on Sunday, he invited me to the VIP box and then to dinner. And apparently, he’s the owner of the club.”
“I……still can’t believe you went back there. I mean….are you okay? Because this totally isn’t like you.”
"Yeah, I'm fine," Y/n promised earnestly, "Its just…..have you ever felt like you-"
Don't say it, pretty girl.
The intruding voice in her head cut her off, and stunned, Y/n shook off her former words. “Actually never mind,” waving one hand dismissively, she pushed off the counter, “I think I’m gonna go back to bed.”
Angie huffed and frowned, “Honey, I didn’t mean to-”
“You didn’t…do anything,” she shook her head, “But its late and I need to get back to bed. And you should finish up and get some sleep you. And take something for that cold!” She rambled, trying to sound as ‘okay’ as possible. As she walked off, Y/n heard Angie call after her, and while she felt bad for running off when her friend was just trying to help, she'd suddenly been overcome with an overwhelming sense of protectiveness; what she’d found with John was special and it was theirs.
Tumblr media
John had picked her up at her apartment promptly at eight in a gorgeous Mustang. She’d never been a car person, but Y/n would be lying if she said that it wasn’t weaving through New York traffic in his muscle car wasn’t thrilling. He’d controlled the vehicle like it was nothing more than an extension of himself, with a wrist on the wheel while maintaining a loose grip on the gear shift. He drove a pro, and his obvious expertise coupled with the impressive rumble of the car was exhilarating to witness.
At the restaurant, John had led Y/n through the establishment with a guiding hand on the small of her back. Their table was up on the mezzanine that overlooked the main floor. It was more private up there, with the lighting a little more intimate and the tables boasting more space between them. John had led her to one near the wrought iron balcony, helping Y/n into her chair before slipping into the opposing one himself. As he did, Y/n couldn’t help but stare; he moved fluidly, like running water on a plane of glass- it was fascinating.
There was so much about him, so many oddities, that she couldn’t help but be enthralled by. The coldness of his touch, the depth of his baritone and the pull of his rich gaze.
“You look lovely tonight,” John noted, and as if she’d been beckoned closer, Y/n leaned forward, until her sternum was pressed to the rounded lip of the table.
“Thank you,” she elicited breathlessly, still much too consumed by his quiet grandeur to pay particular mind to anything else.
John grinned, presumably at her wonder, and reached across the small surface so he could stroke the slope of her jaw with the back of his fingers, “Absolutely stunning,” he licked his lips. Their eyes met again, his chocolate gaze holding her in a trance that was only broken by him suggesting that they get started on wine.
“You know,” she began when the waiter left after serving them a glass from a vintage bottle that was probably worth more than her share of rent and utilities, “I walk past this place on my way to work every morning, but I’ve never been inside,” she glanced around at the old, Grecian architecture; intricate moldings on the wall, soaring pillars that led to the high ceiling and graceful arches framing the large windows.
“Yeah?” John licked his lips again, intense gaze still fixed on her, “Where do you work?”
Y/n drew in a slow sip of the full bodied red that John had taken the reigns on ordering, “Uh, the university; NYU. I’m a research assistant- and a student.”
“Student?” He pressed curiously.
She hummed, nodding, “Yupp, I’m getting my PhD in Art History.” John seemed fascinated by her field, asking a few passing questions before delving into his own passion for history. As it turned out, he might have been even more of a history buff than she was, it was most evident when he dove into a recount of the restaurant's life; the building itself had been constructed in the early 1920s as a library which was actually a cover for a speakeasy until the end of the Prohibition, then by turn of the 1960s, it had been turned into a restaurant for society’s highest rungs.
Furrowing her brows curiously, Y/n took another slow sip of her wine. “So in addition to nightclub owner, you’re also a historian?” She teased, arching a brow.
John shrugged indifferently, “Most of its from experience,” he explained simply, prompting Y/n to knit her brows in confusion.
“What?” She tilted her head; maybe she’d heard wrong, he couldn’t have possibly meant ‘experience’.
Forget about it and say ‘nothing'
John reached for her hand across the table, and Y/n offered it willingly, a little stunned by the return of the little intrusive voice in her head. “What?” He rasped, stroking her knuckles.
“Nothing,” she shook her head, pushing the strange sensation aside. The more she thought about it, the more unnerving the coldness of his hand became; his skin was the temperature of ceramic left in the refrigerator, he could have been dead and it amazed her that his teeth weren't chattering. Curiously, she glanced down at their joined hands, about to ask if he was cold when a peculiar ring on his right pinky finger, caught her attention- she’d seen it before. “Is that a bloodstone?” Y/n asked suddenly, reaching out with her free hand so she could hold his larger one in both of hers.
For the first time since they’d met, John seemed like he’d been caught off guard; the deer in headlights expression on his face said it all. “I….uh..yeah. Yes,” he cleared his throat after a moment spent stuttering, “It is. How’d you….?”
It was actually a sunstone with an extremely rare coloring. A blood orange hue with darker red veins and spots that could have been flecks of polished gold- ergo, earning the name, bloodstone.
“Last year I went with a professor from the university to this little museum in Serbia and they had a ring like this, for a smaller finger,” she shrugged with breathless wonder. “This coloring is extremely rare, that one was supposed to be the only one in that country-but I don’t know about that.”
“What do you know?” If she weren’t so intrigued by his ring, John’s urgency might have been alarming.
Tell me everything you know about it.
She chuckled softly, swallowing thickly as that peculiar returned before fading again, “Uh…I know that they’ve been traced back to the eighteenth century. You’re probably not gonna believe this but in the 1720s in Eastern Europe there was this….outbreak of some kind of mysterious disease- corpses started rising from their graves and ravaging the towns. The Great Vampire Epidemic- but they were called upirs back then,” upon realizing that she’d started rambling in her fascination, Y/n shook her head, “Anyway, there was this….I guess subgroup of the Ruska Roma- Russian gypsies- who’d been turned into vampires, their leader, she was turned by the very first vampire and had a sunstone on a necklace, gifted to her by father. Uh...she'd been in a fight while they raided a village and the stone got covered in her blood. When she came to, she realized that she could walk in the sun- and do….anything else that vampires usually couldn’t. After that, she’d find sunstones, soak them in her blood to give them to the members of her clan, so she could turn them into this.....vampire army."
When she was finished, John leaned closer, practically draping himself over the table. They’d avoided the waiter’s for their orders three times by then, and the only reason he hadn’t had them kicked out was because the wine alone must have close to eighteen hundred dollars. “How do you know all of this,” he turned his hand so it would be holding hers again, and John searched her gaze.
“Oh,” Y/n chortled bashfully, “After we came back from Serbia, I wrote a paper on the stones. Is yours real?” She shifted their hands so she could examine his ring, “It looks real. Where’d you get it?”
John shifted uncomfortably, retracting his hand and trading it for his other. “I’ve had it for…a long time. A friend gave it to me,” he explained, rousing the sense that he was purposefully excluding details. Y/n didn’t think she had any authority to press him further though, and when the soft whisper in her mind urged her to drop the matter, she did.
Dinner carried on with lighter conversation after they moved on; John had recommended the salmon and they’d talked about art exhibitions that he’d visited in the places that he’d lived at. He was well traveled; despite it being completely obvious that he was well off and several years her senior, Y/n was still amazed that he’d been to so many countries. To live in that many places, across so many regions, even at his age, would have only been possible if he’d never worked a day in his life.
But she let it go. She was probably reading too much into it anyway.
After they were finished with dinner- John had insisted on picking up the check himself- they’d walked around the city for a while, until he’d glanced at  his watch, found that it was edging close to midnight and declared that it was probably time to head back. In comfortable silence, the drove back to her building; John didn’t strike her as a man of many words and while Y/n would ordinarily be peeved about having to carry conversations on her own, with him she found that it added to his alluring edge of mystery. When he did speak, she caught herself hanging onto his every word, hearing his voice was like a privilege.
“I had a really nice time tonight,” she offered softly as John put the car into park, his hand hovering over his keys in the ignition. He hadn’t said anything, but she got the feeling that he was expecting something, and Y/n would be lying if she said she hadn’t been thinking about it too. Alas, Angie was- very apologetically- home with a cold that she had earlier insisted was not a cold. “I’d invite you up, but my roommate is sick,” she scoffed a dry chuckle, ducking her head.
“That’s alright sweetheart,” John curled two fingers under her chin, encouraging her to meet his gaze in the dimness. He leaned in and Y/n excitedly thought he was going to kiss her goodnight and unconsciously melted closer. But then, just before their lips could brush, John turned abruptly to peer out the driver’s side window. “I’ll walk you up,” he suddenly declared, not awaiting her response before getting out and rounding the car to open her door and offer his hand.
Quickly, John locked up the Mustang before grabbing her hand and practically whisking her into to the building. Their elevator ride up, unlike their car ride back, had been riddled with tension; suddenly, the feeling of John hiding something was no longer thrilling- not when, out of nowhere, he’d started acting like something was wrong. She was still woefully intrigued by him, and the desire to be with him was one that was hard to shake, but Y/n didn’t like the sensation that had followed his odd reaction; his haste, the feeling that there were eyes on her as they’d walked towards the building.
John only appeared to relax a little when the doors finally slid open on the tenth floor and Y/n stepped out first to lead him to her front door. “Thanks for walking me up,” she dragged her lower lip through her teeth in an attempt to bite back the cheek splitting grin that accompanied the giddiness of having John at her door.
Their fingers were joined, and John rubbed the pad of his thumb along the back of hers, “No problem.” When he stepped closer, trapping her between his broad chest and the door, he used the pointer of his free hand to tip her chin, causing their eyes to meet. His gaze was nothing short of mesmerizing. “How about a kiss goodnight?” John suggested softly, already bending his head.
A huffed breath of quiet enthusiasm parted her lips, “Yeah okay.” Standing on her toes, she met him halfway, and when John’s lips were finally on hers, Y/n felt her heart leap; his mouth, as strange as it seemed, was cold too.
Their kiss started off slow but passionate, gradually becoming aggressive and hungry. There wasn’t really a struggle for dominance though, just the automatic assumption that it belonged to John. Between the impassioned movements of their mouths, Y/n gasped softly; John seemed to be very dismissive of their need to breathe and she was struggling to keep up. But she wanted to. Y/n’s hands moved up his chest until they reached the lapels of his jacket, hastily clutching the material tightly. Meanwhile, John’s grip on her waist forced her against the door while he flattened his other hand on the door, next to her head.
“We….should….” The ragged words were hard to come by, and it almost hurt to speak, “I….” It was only when she lightly pushed against his chest did he break their kiss, practically ripping his lips away and leaving Y/n to slump breathlessly against the door. Her hands were still on his chest when she finally realized that it wasn’t moving.
No rise and fall of heavy breathing that matched hers. No thump of a heartbeat against his ribs. It made her wonder if there would be a hollow sound if she tapped his chest.
Y/n’s breath hitched at the startling realization and her gaze unconsciously flickered to where she’d laid her palms, before it panned back up to his. Her confusion was undoubtedly reflected in her wide eyes, and John met it with a look she couldn’t quite place. Coolly, he circled his fingers around her wrists, removing her hands from his chest, as the soft voice returned;
Forget about that, it didn’t happen. You had a good time, you want to meet again.
“Something wrong?” John peered when Y/n blinked quickly, shaking her head as she did.
“Uh…yeah, no,” she chuckled nervously, “I just feel like I blacked out for a minute, it must be the wine,” Y/n moved to bring a couple fingers to her temple, only to realize that, for some reason, John was holding onto her wrists.
“Probably,” letting her wrists go, John agreed.
“Right,” she breathed, nodding absently, “Uh….I had a really good time,” oddly enough, she felt like she’d said that already, but her mind was a little muddled so Y/n wasn’t entirely sure, “We should do this again.”
“We should. I’ll call you?” Y/n nodded, leaning in so John could press a chaste kiss to the corner of her mouth, the tenderness in the gesture acting as a stark contrast to the passion of their earlier kiss. When they broke, quiet good nights were exchanged, and as she opened the door, she watched John retreat down the hall, only slipping inside when he’d reached the elevator.
“So how’d it go?” Were the first, albeit hoarse, words that Y/n heard as she entered the apartment, head down as she glanced at her phone, which she’d been neglecting all evening.
Jumping, and almost dropping her cell and keys, Y/n brought her free hand to her chest as she yelped in surprise, “Ang, what the hell. Why aren't you asleep?”
After a fit of coughing ended with Angie putting her hoodie clad forearm against her lips, she sniffled and grinned tiredly from where she was laying on the sofa, under a thick blanket, “I couldn't," she shrugged, "I thought you’d be going back to his place,” she teased.
Setting her purse and coat down on the recliner, Y/n kicked off her shoes before bending to collect a half empty bowl of soup off the coffee table. She hadn’t even thought of going back to John’s place, and now that Angie had mentioned it, she was a little disappointed that he hadn’t asked. “It actually didn’t come up,” she sighed heavily, heading to the kitchen, “Have you taken anything?”
Angie groaned and Y/n caught her throwing her head back against the pillows stacked behind her, “You know how I feel about pills,” she protested, just as Y/n turned on the kettle and plopped a tea bag into a mug. “And what do you mean it didn’t come up? Was it bad or something?”
“The date? No, it was actually really nice, I had fun and I think he did too. He walked me up,” her cheeks warmed at the thought of what had happened before they’d parted ways for the night, “We kissed….it was a great date,” in spite of all the strangeness that surrounded John.
“Then why are you here?” Angie coughed.
Just then, the kettle whistled and Y/n lifted it off its designated plate so she could pour some water in the mug, allowing the tea to steep before spooning some honey into it. On her way back to the sofa, she grabbed a bottle of Tylenol they kept in a drawer in the kitchen.
As she set the mug and medication down on the coffee table nearest to Angie, Y/n sighed and shook her shoulders, “I don’t know. We’re seeing each other again, so it doesn’t even matter.” Before Y/n turned to head to her room, down the hall, she paused near the living room window, which faced the park actress the street.
It didn’t take long for the strange feeling of being watched to return and that time, without John’s protection, her anxiety and fear was magnified. Even if she couldn’t see anyone, Y/n was almost positive that there was someone amongst the trees. A shiver ran up her spine as a shuddered breath seeped off her lips, eventually pushing her to stumble back when it became too much.
“I uh….I’m gonna get ready for bed,” Y/n announced hastily, suddenly eager to put some distance between herself and the window. “Good night,” she mumbled, not awaiting Angie’s response before retreating to her bedroom with more on her mind than she cared for.

[ joongdok - canon compliant - pure fluff ]
post epilogue, established couple joongdok having a vacation all to themselves for a week or two because they're the only two jobless adults who can get two weeks off in the middle of the year and the rest of the kim dokja's company nebulae can take a hint.
the hint is that they're hopeless and completely garbage at planing vacations. the two idiots are still "hmm"-ing and "mmm"-ing a week after yoo sangah had eagerly suggested they take a trip to relax.
"has either of them ever even had a vacation?" someone finally asks.
someone else asks, "do they, like, even know the concept of relaxing?"
not looking away from her console and executing a perfect combo, yoo mia says, "oppa never took a vacation, not even once."
"what about kim dokja?"
then they remember kim dokja and kim dokja's past and they sigh.
after arguing about romantic cliches and plans for a whole night before finally reaching a tentative accord, han sooyoung and yoo sangah intervene and slap down two tickets on the dining room table.
"you are going to jeju island," han sooyoung says.
"hmm, are we?" kim dokja says even as yoo joonghyuk swipes the tickets to examine the dates.
"yes," everyone replies and he only laughs.
lee hunsung becomes in charge of activities and he rounds all the kids to band up together into a brain storming session that rattles the roof with how loud and excited they become. they come up with a bunch of whacky romantic/fun/cool/badass ideas and activities to do. having come back from her recent trip and feeling extremely gleeful at having thats right up her expertise, jang hayoung compiles all their suggestions into a neat activity book and then makes the mistake of actually researching. hours and hours later, she's still trying to find all the best places and fun spots. she's interviewed four people already and they all give insane responses.
for example, jung heewon lists out all cool bars she went to during her college years but then strokes her chin and says, "they're probably all destroyed or gone now though. ah, just add it all anyways, im sure they'll find at least one of them or it'll give them a good goose chase."
by the end of it and the entire living room turned into a jeju guide collection dump. even han sooyoung reaches out to help format all the information into a giant printed travel guide. by the time its printed and bound, it's thick enough to break bone.
"would we even be able to do all of this?" kim dokja asks, tracing the list of activities and sights and vacation things to do. its a very long list.
"we can always go again," yoo joonghyuk points out.
kim dokja's eyes crinkles. they share a look over the word 'again'.
"oi," han sooyoung cuts in. "we're all going next time, you bastards. there's no way i would have helped make this stupid travel guide just for you two."
yoo joonghyuk and him share another look but he smiles when says, "if you say so, han sooyoung."
bumbling in with all the grace of a particularly snappy grand turtle, gong pildu huffs and finds them a lodge in the middle of nowhere so they don't destroy perfectly good land. even han myungoh comes by with his daughter to talk excitedly about all the places he'd visited and how they could totally hook them up with perfect deals. kim dokja's mothers come by as well, getting him travel bags and fancy dinner clothes.
uriel wails that she cant watch them on their honeymoon over video call. there's about a billion stage crew bustling and frantically speed walking around and behind her and kim dokja remembers she's on a world tour and probably about to head up on stage considering her pretty outfit. glancing over her shoulder on the screen, kim dokja can almost spy out abyssal black flame dragon and sun wukong fighting in the background using a thumb machine.
"how about you send me your schedule and we can go watch your next concert after my vacation," he says and she immediately lights up.
and, because he's pressed against his chest and tucked under his chin, kim dokja can feel it as yoo joonghyuk shakes his head. but he still writes it down in the little black journal he keeps on hand.
in the end, the only two who dont actually contribue to the vacation is kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk themselves who spend most of the week arguing over luggage and bickering over if bringing an entire spice rack is over kill (kdj: yes, yjh vehemently: i can bring the knives too, kim dokja give me the spices).
on the day of departure, they wake up predawn to the whole house bustling and three people already yelling, and loading up way more luggage than kim dokja remembers packing. making sure to fill up yoo mia's plate first, yoo joonghyuk eventually reveals a giant breakfast spread for the rest to eat and they all gobble up ten differently cooked eggs, kimchi yoo joonghyuk had been expertly fermenting like an elderly ahjumma, fluffy fried rice, kimchi, four pots of soup, perfectly cooked fish, more kimchi, and a whole table filled with a hundred different banchan.
as he closes his eyes around the heavenly flavour of yoo joonghyuk's hobakjuk, he quietly conceeds that bringing the spice rack wouldn't be too bad even if it ruined the authenticity of trying touristy food trap.
after inhaling the food and the grand procession of getting everyone into one vehicle, jung hewoon drives them to the airport in the gigantic wagon car they all loving call the company car. in kim dokja's opinion, its more bus than car.
the kids all cry as he rubs their head and kisses their forehead goodbye even though theyre all too old for that anymore but he does it anyway when they crowd around him like puppies about to be dropped off at puppycare. he can't begrudge them when even the adults are huddling around him too, holding onto him like he'd disappear. inside, he knows they're all acting like this why but only a soft tug pulls his heart into a gentle dance of indulgence.
kim dokja waves goodbye from the terminal, smiling widely. yoo joonghyuk gives a nod to the group, flipping through the Kim Dokja Company Approved Travel Guide for the sixth time since they got it. but even he smiles in the end when they all call out their last goodbye and rush into a giant hug.
"you better come back in one piece. yoo joonghyuk, look after him or else. you too kim dokja, you better not let this guy do anything stupid."
"dokja-ssi make sure not to get lost."
"ahjussi, have fun and remember us!"
"hyung! don't forget us! ugh, you sooty bastard, you better look after hyung."
"look after master, ahjussi, and get us souvenirs!"
holding onto his hand, yoo sangah says "make sure to have fun."
jung heewon pulls him close and says into his shoulder, "come home soon."
kim dokja clings onto them for a moment longer. just a little longer. indulges in each second that ticks by. but the announcer says its time to depart and, as he pulls back, he watches as they gather around him, like planetary orbits, never leaving his solar system. refusing to leave his previously lonely starry world. after all, they were forever intertwinned in the gravity of each other. forever, they'll be here for him, to pull him back, and he'll be there too, reaching back to meet their open arms. even if they separated just for a little bit. they'll rotate back together. always.
"i promise, I'll be back," he says, a little watery, and swings an arm around yoo joonghyuk. he holds him steadily.
kim dokja thinks for a long moment. "you know, i dont think ive ever been in a plane."
silently, yoo joonghyuk holds out his hand. after all that he has gone through, after using wings to fly, a carriage through space, a car that rides on cosmic roads and after having thrown himself through the cosmos, kim dokja thinks wearily that something as mundane as a plane ride should definitely not even stir up even a sliver of fear but he grips onto yoo joonghyuk's large, warm hand as tight as possible as the plane shakes and rattles and the white tube bleeds around the edges of his eyes.
then they get the kdrama special montage of jeju island.
there had been plenty of bizarre, otherworldly and breathtaking sights of skies and cosmos, of death and destruction, of the haunting beauty in yoo joonghyuk's features during the scenarios. devastating but beautiful. something as mundane as jeju island and the wind in yoo joonghyuk's hair and a casual black turtleneck shouldn't take his breath away but it does.
the first day, they had decided not to do much. first, check into their lodge. a tiny cabin that looks about ready to collapse in the middle of nowhere. but its surprisingly cosy and cleaned up on the inside when they step in. yoo joonghyuk sets up his spice rack and the whole kitchen to his liking and kim dokja lounges around with a book. after putting things away and the sun still high in the afternoon, they go sightseeing.
kim dokja oohs and ahhs and takes thousands of dumb photos to send to the kkt. most of it is landscapes, and bad selfies, and a picture perfect yoo joonghyuk looking handsomely over the distance.
"so unfair," he says and then makes the photo his lockscreen.
they go to a cute cafe jang hayoung had circled several times for the pretty floral aesthetic and view overlooking the ocean. kim dokja admits it does look pretty nice and sends photos of it to jang hayoung with a thumbs up.
"hi, what would you like to order? by the way, our chef's special today is fish and chips!"
initially, he had been only about to order an ice americano (decaf because he was old) but kim dokja can't ever resist and orders lunch there too. loves watching as yoo joonghyuk makes a grouchy face at all the 'low quality' food he tries. it is pretty tasteless but kim dokja savours each bite.
the sun lazily winds through the sky, not a cloud in sight and its too perfect beach weather to pass up. using the extremely detailed map in the travel guide, they find the beach although kim dokja was pretty sure they would have found it easily even without it. just follow the sea salt.
at the edge before the sand, yoo joonghyuk quickly crouches down to take off his shoes and, before kim dokja could follow suit, he reaches out and takes hold of kim dokja's foot. his fingers quickly unlaces the sneaker and then he slips the shoe and sock off. his hands now cradling the bare sole into a gentle squeeze and half massage.
kim dokja laughs and reaches out to card a hand through the thick hair. the silver strands are shining in the golden jeju sunlight. they flutter in the sea wind they can feel from here. something in his stomach was fluttering too.
look at them, 30-something and over hundreds and thousands of years old. a bunch of old men they are to still get butterflies.
"you're so cute today, joonhyuk-ah."
"shut up and give me your other foot."
kim dokja does and yoo joonghyuk sets their shoes to the side. he also rolls up their pants and then gets up with a smooth rise.
they walk along the beach, hand in hand. kim dokja playfully kicks wet sand into yoo joonghyuk's legs and, without hesitation, yoo joonghyuk throws him into the ocean. or, at least tries to. immediately, having had the foresight, kim dokja latches onto him tightly, he twists, and they both tumble down into the sand.
kim dokja laughs, a little breathless from the fall but mostly because of the sight of yoo joonghyuk hovering over him and the ocean breeze stuck up his throat. he had even slipped a hand beneath kim dokja's head before it hit the sand. a small fall like that wouldn't have even hurt at all.
"so unfair," he says again, reaching up to trace the ocean drop kissing down yoo joonghyuk's devastating cheeks.
they're still mostly on the sandy area so the warm water only reaches about a finger width high. it pulls back kim dokja's hair just the slightest bit and the sand is already getting everywhere on him. the sunlight plays along the water's glittering surface.
kim dokja smiles and yoo joonghyuk watches as his eyes curl up into little crescents. as the world sparkles around him.
'unfair you say,' yoo joonghyuk thinks and leans down to kiss him.
they're both smiling too much. the gentle waves washes them close, again and again. it's salty.

The Lustron home (or what I like to call the Fallout house) was developed post WWII for returning GIs during the housing shortage.
These homes were all steel. They would be shipped to you from the company in panels and then assembled right on the lot. They were essentially all the same, aside from the few that had 3 bedrooms.
The idea was to have a post modern/futuristic look. So the kitchen/dining area usually had up-to-date appliances. As well as a built in China cabinet. The living room had built-in shelving. One of the bedrooms had a built-in vanity/closet combo (this was considered the master bedroom, except in the 3 bedroom models).
Only 2000 of these homes were made from 1947-1950. Some are still in use today!

Also, as I mentioned, I call it the Fallout house. That's because the homes in Fallout (at least in the Sanctuary) are inspired by The Lustron! Those super high tech/ 50s but still futuristic blue houses you find in the neighborhood.

Hello soda senpai. It's 🖤 anon here is a continuation of the fic I sent. I hope my writing skills have improved. I decided to turn my reader fic to an oc . Please give your feedback.
Empty manor
Astrea Celeste was busy with her least favorite work . She in fact hated the work of the house head with passion. "Even the paperwork I did as a magic knight was better." She said throwing her pen on the table
She checked the time, it was almost lunch time. She didn't want to leave her work but she remembered her promise to Nacht that she would look after herself. She left her room and walked down the stairs. "So empty." She thought.
She entered the dining room. The table was huge but she was alone. There were so many dishes but she was the only one to eat. After she finished her lunch, she called a maid.
"Clear my plate, and give rest of the food to the poor. Tell the kitchen head to not buy this much food for a single person, we don't have as much money as we used to."
" Yes, my lady." The maid replied
She returned to her office to continue her work. "I hate this place, I hate this work, I hate this mansion." She said out loud. "My squad headquarters are so much better. I wouldn't have even kept it if not for..."
Just then a idea crossed her mind.
"Why didn't I think of it before?" she said and smiled "I should discuss it with Nacht tonight."
(Nighttime)
Nacht appeared in her room from the shadows like he always did. She immediately hugged him, she was waiting for him for hours.
"Hey, how was work?" He asked
"About that, I actually decided something." She replied smiling.
"What is it?" He asked knowing that she must have taken a huge decision.
"Nacht, I decided to give up my noble status and sell this mansion."
"What? But why?" He was shocked
"It's just too suffocating here and there are so many bitter memories."
"But then you won't be able to live the life you are living. It will be difficult."
"I know that but Nacht, this life is too hectic. It's too painful. I don't like this work. I don't like this mansion. I just want to keep a few income sources and leave." She said bursting into tears. Nacht wiped her tears and hugged her.
"I see." He said in an understanding voice as he rubbed her back.
"Ummm.. Nacht... I was also thinking that... maybe instead of keeping the manor, I'll buy a good house..." She said as started blushing
Nacht froze, he wasn't as dense as Yami, he knew exactly what this meant.
"Maybe..... for just the both of us, I know we have our squad headquarters but maybe we could go to that house during breaks." She continued. "I mean I kept this mansion because we can get our privacy. Don't get me wrong, I like your squad-."
Nacht kissed her forehead and she froze. "You don't have to explain, even I want to have some time for just the both of us." He said.
"I see, so if you aren't busy tomorrow shall we go look for a house? My break will be over soon and I want to be done with all the mansion and house head related work before that. "
"Sure" Nacht said and kissed her " I'd love that."
So what do you think? Also is my grammar okay?
Oh~ We went from an xreader to an oc~! How fun!
Astrea Celeste... A very spatial name. Stars and nighttime is a classic combo so the aesthetic of Astrea and Nacht's name alone is attractive~!
The first scene scene gives a smaller snapshot of Astrea's feelings towards her position as a whole. She doesn't like the duties she has as head of house, but she doesn't neglect doing them. Her responsibilities do weigh on her but she has the diligence to see them through. I also get the feeling that Astrea is bothered by the hollow excess of her position, like being served far too much food at once.
It's also very nice that Astrea doesn't take her frustrations out on others (at least from what you've shared here). She's not all that warm in the one interaction she has with her staff but neither does she make harsh comments about the chef's over indulgence. She just makes it known what she wants done without fanfare.
The plainness of the earlier interaction then highlights her intimacy with Nacht. She goes to hug him and lets herself cry, unloading her negative feelings. However, Astrea doesn't mope too long and instead shows some fluster when suggesting that she and Nacht live together. She's emotive without being temperamental. I feel that Nacht would take a lover who is quieter than his squad and easy to be around. And so Astrea being able to voice her feelings without being over the top about works for Nacht.
Eh heh heh heh~! The forehead kiss... Nacht smooching his s/o's forehead is something that's so easy to picture and feels so right.
I can tell your grammar has improved with this new snippet. Like, letting the single sentence of Astrea's idea coming to mind being its own paragraph is a good show of how she has the idea and pauses because it feels like a strong revelation to her. I have an easy time reading the flow of your sentences, although I think some comma divided parts could be turned into full sentence stops like
Nacht froze. He wasn't as dense as Yami and so he knew exactly what this meant.
And the only other bit that caught my attention was the use of "burst into tears." It comes off as a little strong, though maybe it's because I take the "burst" a little literally and picture someone letting out an audible sob. If you just meant that Astrea begins crying very suddenly, I think it still comes across.
Again, I like what you're sharing. It's got emotions and tenderness even without strictly being fluff. The drama isn't on the level of some canon events but it still gets me invested because sometimes the smaller, personal matters are more engaging since they laser focus on an individual. And seeing Nacht being able to support someone rather than need the support himself is nice.

April 6th, 11 am.
The dark-haired man standing in front of her had a wide smile on his face, when she opened the door. “Happy Birthday!” he smiled, but the smile quickly went off his face when seeing Mia’s reaction. “What are you doing here?” Mia asked. “I.. I couldn’t miss your birthday” he answered, “can I come in?” Mia felt like the world was standing still until she heard Ali saying something from the kitchen, probably asking who it was. “Uhm.. Sure, I guess. How.. What..” Mia took a step to the side, making room for him to get inside. “What the freaking …” Ali’s voice was not in a happy note, it was clear to hear, “What is he doing here?!” Mia closed the door, standing with her back against the others. When turning around, Ali was already on her way over to the door, arms crossed in front of her chest. “Logan, what are you doing here?” Mia asked again, looking at him with a confused look. “I thought I would come and surprise you, but I can see that this wasn’t a good time to do so” Logan started to talk, but got interrupted by a noise from the baby monitor in the kitchen. “Ali, could you… Will you check on her?” Mia looked at her friend, asking ‘pretty please’ with her eyes. “Fine, but don’t let him settle in.. You can’t count on him” Ali said and left the room to go check on Ellie. “I’m sorry, you know she isn’t your biggest fan” Mia apologized to Logan for Ali’s behavior. Logan smiled, “Don’t worry, it’s my fault. So… Happy Birthday.” Mia couldn’t hide the shy smile on her face from him, “thank you”.
Tumblr media
“I like what you have done with the place. It looks like you have settled in really well here” Logan looked around in the combined living-entry-kitchen-dining room. “Thank you, and yeah, I think we have gotten used to being here now. Uhm.. When did you arrive in Twinbrook? You must have been taking a flight, like, yesterday, or something?” Logan nodded his head a little, “I landed in Bridgeport a few hours ago, took a plane out of LA late last night”. Mia looked at him. Smiling, and not smiling at the same time. It wasn’t more than a week and a half ago when he told her that he couldn’t come as they had been planning for months. And now, without any words about it, he was here. In Twinbrook. On her birthday. Two days before the wedding, that had been the reason he had canceled on her in the first place. “Do you want anything to drink, or… oh, and you can just take a seat, somewhere” Mia turned around and started to walk towards the kitchen. “No, I’m good, thanks,” Logan answered and took a seat on the couch at the same time Ali entered the room again, “She is up, I changed her, but she seems to be a little tired still.” Mia looked at Ali, then at Logan, then back at Ali. “Ok.. uhm.. I..” Mia didn’t know what to do. “I can take her for a stroll, let you two talk about… this..” Ali moved her hand around in circles towards Logan, without looking at him. “Yeah.. Uhm… I think that could be a good idea. Maybe we can meet you at the playground in a little while?” Mia asked. It was the best idea she could come up with. Taking care of Ellie, letting Ellie see her dad while being in a mood, and finding out why Logan suddenly was here, was just not a great combo right now. “Deal, I’ll get her ready” Ali gave her a smile. It was like she could read Mia’s mind, “Get this fixed, and we will meet you later”. Ali quickly got Ellie ready out of the door. Mia took a seat at the couch, looking over at Logan sitting at the other end, “why are you here, Logan?”
Logan let out a deep sigh, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come. Or at least I should have told you. I’m sorry, it was a dumb thing for me to do without talking to you first.” Logan took his hands up to his head, hiding his face in his palms. “Logan…” Mia looked at him, worried. Something was clearly going on. “What is going on? You know you can tell me, right?” “Yeah, I know.. it’s just.. You know I promised to always be there for you, no matter what, and I feel so shitty for not holding my promise. And after our talk last week, I just.. I could hear I made you sad, and then I felt even shittier when I remembered your birthday was coming up. I have always been with you on your birthday, at least for the last, what.. 15 years now?” Mia turned her head away, looking out the window for a second.
Tumblr media
“It’s ok. You have been busy with your own things, and..” “No, don’t do that. It’s not ok. I could have been here to see Ellie multiple times during the last three months, but I didn’t. Why are you smiling?” Logan raised his left eyebrow, looking at Mia, and feeling a slight smile coming forward. “I’m sorry. You are right. You have been a shitty dad, and an even shittier friend the last couple of months, but.. I’m surprised that you are actually doing something about it by being here, completely unannounced”. Logan smiled, “Are you mad at me? Like, really mad about how I have been?” “Of course I’m mad at you, but I don’t want to be mad at you if you are really trying to change how you have been acting lately”. Mia and Logan looked at each other, both with a slight smile on their faces. “Thank you,” Logan said. “For what?” “For being you. Yelling at me on the phone, but still trying to make me smile when I know you really just want to punch me in my face.” Mia couldn’t hold her laughter in, “You are such an idiot.”
…… “Ok, Miss Moody-thing, go over to your mom” Ali looked like she was going to kill herself when coming back with Ellie. “What’s going on with you two, I thought we were meeting at the playground?” Mia went to take Ellie from Ali’s hands. “Oh no no, Miss Moody here was not pleased with being at the playground today” Ali shook her head and grimaced, “She is in a really bad mood.” Mia smiled, holding a laugh in, “Hi Ellie, hi sweetie. What is up with you today?” Mia held Ellie in her arms while taking both her little jacket and little shoes off, and saw that Ellie quickly looked over at Logan, “did you see who it is? It’s daddy. Daddy is here to see you.” Mia smiled and gave Ellie a small hug, trying to get Ellie to not be so shy and feeling ok with Logan being in the house. “It’s ok, he’s just sitting on the couch. Don’t worry. We can just sit here on the floor, see, Effy and Piglet are here too,” Mia sat down on the floor with Ellie, reaching for the elephant teddy and the small pig-teddy on the couch..

As previously promised, this week’s Sims 4 Wednesday is the first of two Building Interludes -- and this one shows off a just-for-fun build that I made following the second January patch (while waiting for clearance on some of my mods). This is a build inspired both by Corpse Bride and my Valicer In The Dark AU -- specifically, this is supposed to be roughly what Victor, Alice, and Smiler’s lair in Six Towers looks like, which is itself based on Elder Gutknecht’s house from CB. At least, what little we see of the entire structure in that one wide shot. XD I basically went for aping the general shape -- a tower stuck onto the side of a giant right triangle, with a cage-like glass roof at the top of the tower -- then just trying to make a workable living space from there. (With, you know, stuff like “the stairs going up the tower are on the INSIDE.”) I ended up doing the nicer, “they’ve been living there for a while and have fixed the place up to their liking” version because that’s what I felt like at the time, but I may go back and do a “original crumbling wreck” version too in the future. The build is very much a mish-mash as I both wanted to use furnishings that looked a bit older and more wrecked AND ones that had some color in them to offset the dark gloominess of the walls and floor. It’s not a perfect build, but I’m reasonably happy with what I created! We have:
-->A magical study atop the tower, with desk, cauldron, and bookshelves -- plus the cool hovering crystal lights and those sweet stained glass Realm of Magic windows
-->A little greenhouse out the back, with multicolored planters, a woodworking bench, and a juice fizzer; next to a yard with a chicken coop and a laundry bucket and line
-->A simple dining room with a big old fireplace and lightly-mismatched chairs
-->A very yellow kitchen (Smiler VERY MUCH wanted color in here) all in Cottage Living style with appropriate clutter
-->A bathroom tucked behind the stairs, with toilet, shower-tub combo, and pedestal sink in vaguely coppery tones
-->A “creativity nook” on the other side of the stairs, with an easel, a guitar, and a piano (those rose petals under the easel are supposed to be paint splatters)
-->A small living area by the front door, with piled wood for a coffee table but super-colorful furniture (again, blame Smiler)
-->And the bedroom, where I leaned hard on the Realm of Magic stuff -- I couldn’t resist putting in THE fanciest bed. (And yes, just one -- Elder Gutknecht lived alone in life, so the trio ends up awkwardly trading it off for a while. . .and eventually just sharing it)
Like I said, the build is a mish-mash, but it’s kind of supposed to be -- like, the idea was that this was largely stuff they’d taken from junk heaps or bought from others like themselves and fixed up for their own purposes. And it was fun to make, I gotta say. :) Sometimes you just gotta build for yourself!

Epicurean; Atlanta Hotspot
Author: Artsy Chow Roamer
EPICUREAN
ATLANTA HOTSPOT
This blogger and writer is big on exploring in your own backyard so we decided to make a run down to Atlanta to celebrate our anniversary with a stay at the Epicurean. An architect friend of mine posited that the property was one of the best new places to stay in Atlanta proper.
We took a speedy tour online and liked what we saw. A fresh contemporary design with a young modern vibe on the interiors, amenities and menus. Located in the heart of Midtown, there are lots of cute shops, restaurants and bars to take advantage of as you walk about. This post will give a good idea of what to expect should you want to book your own quick get-away.
CHECK IN
We opted to use our GPS to get there from our mountain home. Warning: it was confused. Between one-way roads and closed roads from construction, it was difficult to get there. The valet and entrance face West Peachtree which is one-way heading away from town. It was closed to traffic right above the property so it was not easy to get to the right roads. After a few work arounds we managed.
youtube
The nice valet helped us with our bags and walked us to the check in which was tucked into a cozy little corner of the bar. Almost hidden, there were a couple of tables and chairs for folks to sit and wait or power up a phone or lap top. You could also grab some lovely cucumber water or a cup of coffee.
We were quickly checked in after they asked our preference for a view; to the pool and courtyard or a downtown skyline. We picked downtown but I wished we had picked the pool after I saw how pretty it was. We got our cards after sipping our welcome glass of white wine and headed to the elevators to ride up to the 11th floor.
Security is a good thing. You must tap your room card on the elevator panel to get it to accept your room floor button choice. We also noticed that the sustainable bamboo panels on the elevator were the same as our floors downstairs in our mountain home-great choice!
THE ROOM
The rooms are spacious with a big king size bed with luxurious linens, a leather headboard and wood wall paneling. A table provides a spot to open suitcases with large flat screen TV above and is joined with a gracious work desk. The art is lit with a wonderful small contemporary fixture highlighting a clever collection of epicurean items; a sketch of peach pits, paintings of radishes and a slice of pie, a poster pushing coffee and a cute wire sculpture in the shape of a coffee cup.
A freehand sketch of The Varsity in Atlanta hanging in the entry and a pillow with knife and fork on the bed are all unique design details that are well thought out, fun and support the overall local concept of the property. Floating nightstands with good lighting made it easy to read in bed and the seating in the corner was very comfy for morning coffee and catching up on the news.
Instead of the usual mini bar in fridge, a high-end wall design included glasses of several types, a nice offering of wines and canned cocktails along with a selection of liquors and mixers. Well done with a mini fidge below it for anything needing to be cooled down. The only critique I had was one needed to take the bucket down to the lobby for ice which is not handy.
A sliding barn door opens to your spacious bathroom with a well organized sink, towel and amenity area designed in classic neutrals that will stay looking sleek in the years to come. A large tub/shower combo offered a lot of grab bars for safety but it might have been more forward thinking to simply offer a step in design with glass doors.
THE TOUR
After settling in, we walked back down to the lobby to check out the public spaces and look over the offerings for dinner in the bar and restaurant. The bar has stunning views with lots of options for seating. You can sit at the bar directly, dine at tables or just hang in a living room type setting with comfortable sofas.
Reverence Bar & Bites offers artisanal small plates and snacks with a “fusion of bold flavors and culinary innovation” offered in a sophisticated and stylish interior within the bar proper. Choose between three or six selections of fromage and charcuterie, snacks like citrus olives or crab dip and small plates of bang bang shrimp or lamb meatballs.
Choose the Reverence dining room and your options expand to five different salads like roasted beet or fried artichokes, additional small plates like peri peri chicken kabobs, boneless pork ribs or seared scallops. Large plates include a pasta, steak, seafood and burger option. End with one of the five lovely desserts on offer including a panne cotta, creme brule, gelato or cheesecake.
THE POOL
Head up to the 9th floor where you will find the event spaces which were very busy hosting a large wedding the day we visited. You will also find some outstanding gardens to walk, sit on a bench and read or enjoy some journaling. Order a fancy signature cocktail at the outdoor bar.
We were surprised at the stunning variety of plants and trees there were throughout the property which offered a large pool with in-water recliners, cabanas and a casual outdoor dining option in Aerial Kitchen & Bar. Menu items take on a Mexican feel with smashed avocado, shrimp ceviche, yucca fries, shishito peppers and molotes.
If that doesn’t work for you, try their ensaladas and bowls, tortas with fries or masa plates with exciting taco choices like mushroom adobo, carne asada, roasted chicken or shrimp. Finish off with a banana hazelnut capirotada or fresa con crema. Ole!
THE BREAKFAST
Upon waking the next morning, we had a wonderful Bloody Mary mixed from the bar with some goodies we brought from home. A Nespresso coffee maker provided the best beginning to the day and since check out was at noon, breakfast was more like brunch for us and began with a lovely hot pot of Earl Grey tea.
While the early breakfast rush was over, there were still a good number of late diners enjoying some great offerings on the menu. We looked it over and immediately opted for the tiramisu french toast with coffee mousseline, white chocolate crumble and macerated berries. Served with warm syrup on the side, this dish was simply fabulous.
You do have a choice of omelets, eggs with sausage or bacon, avocado tartine or short rib hash as well as cereals, oatmeal, yogurts, fruits and more. There was also a wonderful buffet available for a set price that had so many things on it I can’t list them all here.
CONCLUSION
Exploring in your own backyard is always a fun adventure. The staff were very considerate of us and patient with all of my photography attempts. You can tell they want you to have the best visit so you will return.
This is a little gem of a property in the Marriot Bonvoy Collection. They are well located and you are able to walk to a very nice Italian restaurant across the street that I will post about in another blog. You’ll also want to walk across the car park to The Office Bar which is a part of the hotel. It’s a great spot for a late night after dinner drink, coffee or light snack. Book your backyard adventure soon and enjoy the video tour below.
youtube
If you enjoyed what you read you might also like other posts from Explore the World. Look for my next post on the the lovely Italian restaurant we revisited after many years that’s just across the street. Until then…
Cheers!

This 1965 mid-century modern in Ada, Oklahoma has some disorienting architecture. It's not your average MCM. 3bds, 4ba, but reasonably priced at $325K
Tumblr media
It's interesting how many sellers leave pianos behind, especially baby grands. I wonder if they they work the cost into the price of the home.
Tumblr media
This home is full of shapes, levels, and angles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have no idea what half these rooms are supposed to be, but this one is big, sunny, and has a chandelier in the middle. Maybe a dining/living room combo? Look at the architectural elements in here. I would have to paint that wall w/the cutout a different color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You have to embrace a home like this. It needs bright colors. And, then you have to figure out what you're going to make each room, b/c there are so many configurations.
Tumblr media
These must be shelves.
Tumblr media
A sink. Could be some sort of bar?
Tumblr media
Finally, I recognize an obvious family room off the kitchen, and it has a MCM fireplace.
Tumblr media
The kitchen is normal. Sorta.
Tumblr media
Looks like a take-out window by the kitchen sink. I don't like the tile pattern they chose.
Tumblr media
Must be a bedroom, but there's no door and it looks like they had a curtain up.
Tumblr media
Definitely a bedroom b/c it has a bed canopy (that looks like clown pants). The bedrooms are huge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Has to be the primary bedroom. It has a sink, but what's in the cubby next to it?
Tumblr media
It has a walk-in closet.
Tumblr media
And, an en-suite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another bedroom with an en-suite. (Eww, dirty grout and soap scum.)
Tumblr media
I think that this is the entrance to the en-suite?
Tumblr media
Patio outside.
Tumblr media
What the hell is that?
Tumblr media
The house is on a .79 acre corner lot and has a 3 car garage.
