Wonderful! I’m so glad Danai and Andrew got this new experiences as producer executive and show-runner.
With the success of what they delivered with Scott, I can’t wait to see what other projects they would develop (in and out TWD) because I know propositions and 💰 are coming their way.
With Danai’s artistic premises surrounding black women, african women and her other artistic endeavors, this success promise another level of visibility for her work. And with Andrew’s world view, I know he will support if needed. I can see a new producer duo emerging 🤞🏾 and maybe later a production company Gurira & Lincoln production… 💭 just imagine a studio where creativity, new voices, new stories are respected and nurtured and the team on the field is supported at all levels…Imagine what could come out of it 😮💨 🏆 🏆

hello uh how abt uh thoughts on when fall came in ed edd n eddy and they. just went to school after? gamechanger for me as kid and standard on which i judge all tv still :/ just a very iconic moment ive been thinking abt a lot
I have such thoughts on this subject that I had to get up from bed and log onto desktop Tumblr for the first time in about a year just so I could use a proper keyboard.
Yeah, that was a very heavy-hitting episode, especially in the context of having watched the show growing up; as a kid you subconsciously think of shows you like as just sort of being stuck in stasis. Of course there's the other category of shows I thought of as "Jetix shows" where the plot actually *did* move forward with each episode, but for the most part any actual changes to the status quo of a show was the realm of the Grown-Up Stuff.
Whenever discussion of the whole school part of EEnE comes up, people don't really talk about that one episode where it's them realizing summer is over; the whole status quo of the show is overturned and it's basically a different show now, with the same characters in a different setup. Looking back on it I think Danny and Co. were making a conscious effort to have it grow up *with* the kids watching it; they even had an entire episode that's *just* about them realizing that summer vacation can't last forever (almost like they're trying to hammer in that lesson for the kids watching).
I recently saw someone on Twitter say that it's funny to them to see people our age going on about how shows from our childhood are #deep and meaningful, because when they were our age they were shitting on those same shows, and saying that cartoons were better Back In Their Day, so it feels kind of ironically-timed that I'm writing this when I am, but I do think that, for a children's show, EEnE still had a much better and more thoughtful team than, say, Fairly OddParents, or Kids Next Door, which I'd say have outright *harmful* lessons for children.
Don't get me wrong, it's a kid's show, and I'm not one of those people who thinks children's media should be regularly consumed by adults (or, well, at least most children's media; I don't know if they're really for kids, but the Cartoon Saloon movies are definitely some of the better films you can see on streaming) but basically I'm just using this ask as an excuse to say Danny Antonucci and the rest of AKA Cartoon made a very, very cool decision when they did that.
Now, the series *after* the switch...

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

considering how many transmascs were legitimately way angrier BEFORE starting T and have since calmed down significantly have we perhaps considered that maybe the reason so many cis dudes are angry and aggressive isn't because of testosterone but maybe. like. personal issues. unmet needs. a social climate that teaches them that there are only like three acceptable emotional outlets for men max and one of them is being angry and shouting

i am unironically obsessed with adam west batman not only trying to be a good dad to robin, but actually succeeding. also love robin's insane energy levels and his ability to go from seething bloodlust to manic glee in record time. i think any superman worth his S would fit right into the family ^_^

"Why is there no doctors or scientists or educated people in gaza?" Because Israel is killing them all. The majority of the population in gaza are under 18, Israel kills them before they get to college, and also kills the ones who do.

Wouldn't it be entirely possible, even likely, that with all the silly weaknesses vampires and stuff were supposed to have, they'd also turn out to be weak to any number of things that have only been invented more recently? Like who's to say vampires aren't also repelled by the smell of play-doh or driven insane by MIDI music? We've invented so much shit in just the last century there'd be NO predicting this. For all we know they burn to ash if they look at Luigi.

love when men cry about body hair bc "it's hygiene" and yet 15% of cis men leave the bathroom without washing their hands at all and an additional 35% only just wet their hands without using soap. that is nearly half of all men. that means statistically you have probably shaken hands with or been in direct contact with one of these people.
love when men say that women "only want money" when it turns out that even in equal-earning homes, women are actually adding caregiver burdens and housework from previous years, whereas men have been expanding leisure time and hobbies. in equal-earning households, men spend an average of 3.5 hours extra in leisure time per week, which is 182 hours per year - a little over a week of paid vacation time that the other partner does not receive. kinda sounds like he wants her money.
love that men have decided women are frail and weak and annoying when we scream in surprise but it turns out it's actually women who are more reliable in an emergency because men need to be convinced to actually take action and respond to the threat. like, actually, for-real: men experience such a strong sense of pride about their pre-supposed abilities that it gets them and their families killed. they are so used to dismissing women that it literally kills them.
love it. told my father this and he said there's lies, damned lies, and statistics. a year ago i tried to get him to evacuate the house during a flash flood. he ignored me and got injured. he has told me, laughing, that he never washes his hands. he has said in the last week that women are just happier when we're cooking or cleaning.
maybe i'm overly nostalgic. but it didn't used to feel so fucking bleak. it used to feel like at least a little shameful to consider women to be sheep. it just feels like the earth is round and we are still having conversations about it being flat - except these conversations are about the most obvious forms of patriarchy. like, we know about this stuff. we've known since well before the 50's.
recently andrew tate tried to justify cheating on his partner as being the "male prerogative." i don't know what the prerogative for the rest of us would be. just sitting at home, watching the slow erosion of our humanity.
