Michelle’s heart does something funny in her chest that she chooses to ignore in favor of overthinking his motivations to say such a thing to her. Because either her nervous habit is more noticeable than she had originally thought or he felt the urge to remind her of this fact of his own volition, both of which options, again, make her heart do something stupid that she, again, chooses to ignore.
“Yeah,” she nods once, quickly, and grabs onto her ankle so as to stop with the picking. “Yeah, I know.”

While The Amazing Spider-Man duology is about the hope of Spidey, the MCU trilogy is about the suffering of Peter Parker (and the need to keep going).
In Homecoming, he sacrifices his reputation, his idol's respect, and his relationship just to take down Toomes and stop the weapon-trading. And he keeps going.
In Far From Home, his identity is revealed, he's framed for murder, and his reputation is in turn tarnished. And he keeps going.
In No Way Home, he finally loses everything he loves. May, Ned, MJ, Happy. His superhero relationships are erased and he is literally wiped from existence. And he gets his GED, he makes a new suit, and he keeps going.
And then the Raimi trilogy is just like "holy fuck look at how cool he is".

Peter fiddles with little vials filled with his own creation, trying to screw the cap onto one of them. He sits criss-cross-applesauce on his bedroom floor, balancing the small tube between his pointer finger and his thumb. He finally twists the lid on it correctly, smiling proudly at his handywork, when he hears the doorbell to his apartment go off multiple times in a row. They usually didn't get many visitors, and he didn't make plans with anyone today. Maybe Aunt May ordered dinner? Maybe it was Happy. He walks closer to the door of his bedroom, pressing his ear firmly against it despite the fact that he would have been able to hear just fine from his previous position.
"Hi Aunt May! Is Peter home?"
Peters face lights up at the sound of your voice before scrunching up in confusion. He could hear your heavy breathing and your fast beating heart against your ribcage. You sounded like you had just run a marathon.
"Oh, come on in! Is it an emergency?"
"No no no, don't worry, everything's fine. Great actually. I just have some good news."
Peter found himself pressing his ear further into the door. Quite frankly, if he had pushed any harder, he might have gone right through it.
"That's wonderful! Peter's in his room. Would you like a water?"
"No thanks, I'm alright. Thanks May!"
Peter stood there and listened as he heard your quick footsteps racing closer and closer and closer until-
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
He jumped away from the door, the noise having been amplified more than it should have.
"Peter, it's me! Is this a bad time?"
He blinks blankly at the door for a moment before coming to his senses. He shoves his web shooters and fluid into a random drawer. "No! No, it's not a bad time! Uh- One sec!" Kicking the formula sheets under his bed, he stumbles over to the door to let you in.
You're in his room before he can even finish turning the handle, rambling on about how you ran the whole way here since you couldn't wait for the subway, and how you would "rather jump in front of a train than pay for a taxi to drive you three blocks". Peter shut the door behind you, listening intently to your ramblings. One thing that made you work so well together was that you could always understand each other's rants and rambles since both of your brains worked overtime.
"Is everything okay?" Peter asks, leaning back against his desk to face you.
"Yeah, everything's great!" You plopped down at the foot of his bed, navy-blue hoodie pulled up over your head. You see a sheet of paper with complicated math equations scribbled all over it peeking out from under his desk. "Oh, sorry, were you doing homework?"
"What?" He follows your eyeline to the sheet, fumbling over to pick it up and push it into a bin, "Oh, no..." He laughs out nervously, "I just finished anyways so you're fine. You aren't interrupting or anything." He sighs out, turning back to face you, "It's cool!"
You smile at him, starting to get antsy again "Okay, cool." You fiddle with the stretched-out hair-tie on your wrist as you practically vibrate off the bed with how much you're fidgeting.
Peter takes in your energetic body language, feeling himself starting to get fidgety. "So, what's up! We didn't have any plans today, did we?" Peter asks, mildly concerned he had forgotten something important. "I mean not that I don't want to hang out! It's great that you're here!" He starts babbling out, "I mean really, I love when you're here. I'm just- I'm a little confused..."
You can't help but laugh at his little rant, standing up to walk closer towards him "We didn't have plans, you can relax." You see him visibly exhale in relief. "I just have something really cool to show you." His eyes widen slightly in excitement and anticipation. He's always been way too curious for his own good. You reach your hands up to grab your hood and pull it off of your head, revealing a brand-new haircut. The haircut you had been begging and pleading to get for months. You glance at him, buzzing with excitement as you ruffle up your new short hair. "What do you think?"
Peter froze for a moment, his brain needing a second to process it before he was beaming down at you, quite literally bouncing with excitement and happiness for you. "Are you kidding?! It looks amazing! You look amazing!" He pulls you into a bone crushing hug, but you couldn't care less about the lack of oxygen at the moment. He only lets you go just enough to look at you some more, "When did they finally let you cut it off?"
"Only an hour ago. I ran straight here to show you!"
Peter could feel his insides literally exploding with emotions. He couldn't put his happiness for you into words if he was paid a million dollars. "You look amazing." He repeated, unable and unwilling to wipe the ginormous smile off his face. "Very cool. It suits you." You laughed and hid your face in his t-shirt, giddy with an overwhelming amount of peace. You pulled him impossibly tighter as you started to get a little emotional. You were so grateful to have Peter in your life.
"Thank you."
