CW: Jekyll's POV, both Jekyll and (Y/N) are in their 30s, REALLY ANGSTY, The story happens before the events in Stevenson's novel, reader's name is (Y/N) Hyde for plot reasons (HE'S NOT EDWARD HYDE OR RELATED TO EDWARD HYDE/JEKYLL THOUGH, JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN A CHARACTER SAYS "MR HYDE"), DEATH (UH OH), Kind of rushed (sadly).

It was no lie that I certainly am an ambitious man. Ever since I was a young lad, I did everything possible to make the elders I respected praise me. As much of a blessing as that was, I wanted to have as much fun as my peers... They were able to play tug of war, while I was a labourer to my own studies. Not much changed even once I became a strapping lad, as my peers still had fun but in different ways. Instead of skipping rope, they were now drinking like mutts for the night. Yet I was still studying medicine, never even thinking of a life for myself. I mean, that's what I used to regret, but now I'm a doctor who will change the world once and for all. And what did those foozlers become? Exactly, nobodies.

My thoughts were immediately interrupted as the door to my laboratory opened.

"Master, Mr Hyde arrived." I nodded at Poole as I signalled for him to let the man enter. (Y/N) Hyde was the assistant for my various experiments. He used to be my colleague back in college, and with him, I finally felt...free. Once we finished our studies, he decided to become my assistant and help me create medicines and various experiments for the greater goodness of humanity.

"Why hello there, Jekyll!" He greeted me as he came to the table, inspecting the liquid in the Erlenmeyer flask which I made earlier. "Why, what have you been brewing lately? It smells like ginger!"

"Oh, it's just a simple nausea-reducing elixir. Nothing complex." I chuckled. "I tried finding a more excellent solution for ways people wouldn't become sick!"

"Well, depends on what kind of sick. Either someone with an awful malady or just someone getting tipsy! You have to be more specific, pal!" (Y/N) joked, which made me laugh, but at the same time feel a little regretful. I have never experienced getting tipsy like other gentlemen, as I need to hold up a perfect image of myself... but how I wish that I could feel ecstatic... If only I could turn into someone else at night, like a werewolf...

"Hyde... did you ever think of how'd it be to turn into two... never mind..." I caught myself simply talking without thinking, and I mentally groaned, embarrassed that I let my heart talk out once more.

"Do go on." (Y/N) seemed quite intrigued by what I was saying, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. The way he looked at me could simply make a lady swoon in my place. I had to admit, (Y/N) had quite a "beau regard" as the French would say... I never admired a man, or even a woman more than him. But I know it's only because of what a loyal friend I am. He gained my friendship after all!

"No, it's rather silly to admit..." I sighed. But (Y/N), being the stubborn man he always was, kept insisting

"Come on, Henry, mon ami!" he even put his hands on both of my shoulders as I was sitting on my chair, looking at the rainy night outside of my mansion.

"You're acting exactly like a juvenile, Hyde. insisting so much like a child tugging their mother's skirt to bring them to a sweets shop!" I joked. (Y/N) began chuckling, finding the situation I gave as an example rather giddy. "But if you insist... I just had a somewhat foolish thought as of currently... how would it be to split yourself into two people... I personally find that-"

"You know that great inventions are created from a rather 'silly' idea, as most would put it! Like, was it a silly idea that somebody created anaesthesia for patients to not feel pain? I don't think so, and neither does your idea have to be thrown to a ditch for how 'absurd' it may sound!"

"You should've become a philosopher, Hyde. You really know how to make me think twice!" I smiled at the man, which made him smile back even more.

It has been a few years since we had that conversation. Hyde has been helping me a lot, bringing me various herbs and various other ideas for how I could create another version of myself, a version which could be free from the grasps of society.

But as free as I could be...I'll never actually be free from his lovely platonic gaze...how I wish I could make him look differently towards me.... I wish he would look at me as I look at him... but it's all so very wrong... I can't possibly feel these kind of feelings for another man! What will the fellow higher society think of me!?

"It's done..." (Y/N) said, looking at the mulberry coloured liquid in front of us. It's odor was quite disgusting, as if it was rotten flesh, but it's colour was truly pleasing.

"But we don't have anyone to assess it..." I responded. I was quite proud with what we've created. My smile immediately diminished as (Y/N) put the liquid in a vial.

"I'll be the one to assess it. It's for science after all!" He smiled at me, but I didn't smile back.

"(Y/n)... You can't possibly test it... it might kill you!" I said in a serious tone, but (Y/N) didn't listen... forever, eternally stubborn Hyde

As (Y/N) drank the vial before I could act, he seemed fine...at first. He then fell to his knees, holding his stomach.Oh no NO NO!

"HYDE!" I kneeled next to him. Hopefully it was just a temporary effect from the liquid, but my hope died down as he didn't seem to change appearance in any positive way, or even look healthy.

"Oh...it didn't work...You know...Jekyll...I always wished you were a lady...so that we could be happy... maybe above the sky, we'll finally be...together"

I felt tears coming down my eyes. I CAN'T JUST LOSE HIM, NOT LIKE THIS!

"I'm...so so sorry..." was all I could say before his eyes closed one last time. I hugged his now limp body. It was all my fault...ALL MY FAULT!

Thus...my next experiment will hold his name...as to never seperate Jekyll from Hyde.

It was mainly due to him suspecting you'd want to hand him to the police as a normal person would've

You never did that and it caught him by surprise. It would probably make him think you were trying to save Jekyll from getting the blame but it turns out Jekyll is just a good friend

Jekyll is actually how you met Hyde. You and Henry would've been friends for a while and he felt like he trusted you enough to show you what was causing the burden. They were both shocked when you didn't run away screaming

After he finally admits he's in love and tells you, he starts to steal more meaningful stuff from the stands such as flowers and jewellery he thought you'd like

He's trying his best okay

Hyde isn't too fond of cuddles but he doesn't mind the odd hug or two if it's from you. It makes his cold heart feel warm

Jekyll is surprised by how nice Hyde is to you compared to anyone else. He was surprised he didn't find your dead body when he allowed Hyde to meet you for the first time

Jekyll and Hyde would spend all their time trying to create a formula to separate them so Jekyll doesn't have to see what you two get up to

Hyde isn't the most experienced when it comes to sex but he knows the basics

He didn't exactly know the whole consent story so it shocked him that a lot of people didn't take no for an answer

When you two have sex, Hyde has to prepare Jekyll in the mirror so if you were to ever have sudden sex, Jekyll would hate it. He'd refuse to speak to either of you for weeks because of how embarrassed he is

✧⠀⨾ he also tends to try and not cause as many mistakes as he usually would while you're there- whether it be via experiments that he maybe burnt himself with or just casually bumping into things, you'll always be at his side right after and be scolding him while patching him up as well

Currently, you were sitting by the side of Jekyll- who has managed to mix up the wrong amount of chemicals needed for one of his recent experiments which caused it to overflow and accidently got on his hand- which burned... a lot. ❝ how could you be so careless Jekyll? look you've hurt yourself again.... Please be more careful around your chemicals, you know first hand how dangerous they can be! ❞ you patched Jekyll's hand up, holding with with delicacy which made it seem as if he'd break if you were careful enough which was true to an extent, Jekyll was feeling weaker lately- he's been more careless with himself and how he acted leading to this mess. However, he couldn't help himself from smiling at you with a fondness- you were always there for him, out of the kindness of your heart and that made him adore you more than anyone else could. You were truly a miracle to him

✧⠀⨾ you sat there, much like how you were with jekyll, scolding him and patching him up carefully- despite him stating MULTIPLE times he can handle it and wont die.

✧⠀⨾ Much like Jekyll- Hyde questions your innocence but enjoys it none the less- the two of you acting as the opposites attract trope

✩ ⊱ Don't worry though, he'll save you from watching- he doesn't want to ruin your little head (anymore than he already has.)

✩ ⊱ Jekyll likes to believe that you're a pure little thing, how could you not be? He could only love someone as pure as you- dont even thing about how he's a terrible man- you dont need to at all! Just keep being you're little angelic self

✩ ⊱ The doctor is deadly scared of loosing you, to either death, or someone else so therefore, he locks you up in a lovely little room he had made and decorated for you- the walls are your favorite colours, he got all the decorations he knew you would love, makes sure the room is constantly clean and you have a lovely large bed the two of you sleep in (whenever Jekyll is not busy, and is not Hyde- though Hyde will also visit you) though you are shackled, again he doesnt want you to leave

✩ ⊱ Hyde, on the other hand, is some how more gentler- though he's a monster, he's artificially made his soul is full of nothing but hate and rage but somehow he never lays a hand on you

✩ ⊱ He, actually doesn't to much to you. Sometimes he'll only sit on a chair in your room and just stare at you- sometimes he smiles at you (or what seems to be a smile) which is either more horrific or sweeter than what Jekyll does.

✩ ⊱ Sometimes Hyde loves to sit next to you, and let you rest against him, he'll also play with your hand or hair, if it's your hand it will be near the shackle so your aching skin could have at least some relief- you're the only person he will ever be gentle with.

✩ ⊱ Whenever he knows Jekyll is not mentally there, he'll let you out of your room and take you outside (in the night of course- there's less people, and much like Jekyll, Hyde hates having people any closer to you than at least a street away) and show you around, sometimes you'll be lucky and he'll take you to his house.

✩ ⊱ Hyde can cook, shocking I know- but he loves to cook for you whenever he can, and hey- it keeps you full and Jekyll never knows.

✩ ⊱ Unlike Jekyll, Hyde (despite loving you so much) does not really care if you saw something horrific, it just means you'll see what he's capable of, how much he's willing to protect you and how much blood he can shed.

✩ ⊱ though don't you EVER think, EVERRRRR that he'll lay a hand on you, he may be evil but he'll never do that, no Jekyll does that (sometimes, after he's sob and beg for your forgiveness)

「 ★ 」 ⠀・At first Lanyon is gonna be very skeptical of you, I mean you're this random person (dressed in some really weird clothes btw) preaching to him about how you're 'magical', it's slightly insulting to him.

⠀「 ★ 」 ⠀・He questions you a lot, mostly the basic ones like "who are you?" and "where did you come from?" and of course, the classic "what do you want from me?" I mean lets be serious it is slightly tiring because he keeps repeating himself.

You sighed, clearly annoyed- Lanyon kept asking you the same damn questions and it was eating away at your brain, who knew someone like this would be so irritating to be around? You sure as hell didnt. "Lanyon, Lanyon- please just stop, I already told you I'm NOT an alien, or some freaky monster that's gonna come after you... jesus" "I don't believe you" you deadpanned, wow- how the actual fuck does this guy have friends "Well then why do you keep asking me these dumb ass questions?" you retorted, leaning back on your chair, blowing a rasberry to the cieling of his room.

"Well pardon me for questioning the person who just broke into my home, you should feel lucky I havent even informed the authorities." his comment made you laugh, did everyone in this time period seriously talked like this? It sounds stupid, like no one from your time line ever speaks like this, no one calls the feds the 'authorities' unless they're older than 60. Your laughing seemed to make him extremely upset, though it wasnt like he could do anything he tried when you arrived: he tried to shoot you out of terror but the moment the bullet came closer to you it disintigrated. 「 ★ 」 ⠀・Thats pretty much how your 'friendship' started, and from then on you wouldn't leave him alone, always talking about how magical you are and use your devices to annoy Lanyon. Whenever you two are alone he tries to study you to see if you're lying or telling the truth

「 ★ 」 ⠀・Since you're always around him you've got to meet his friends; Utterson and Jekyll, who liked you (but thats only because you didn't act the same as you did to Lanyon). Jekyll esspecially found you interesting but you avoided him- after all you know his secret and dont really wanna get involved with stuff like that PLUSSS you gotta keep Lanyon company.

「 ★ 」 ⠀・speaking of, whenever you're around Lanyon you use a phone, which freaks him tf out because what the hell do you mean you can text people in RUSSIA within seconds? That's impossible.... to him.

"[name]?" you heard the voice of lanyon call out to you, in turn you lifted your head and met his eyes "Yeah?" "What is that?" he pointed to your phone "It's my phone?" ... "what is a phone?"

Yeah you loved explaining a phone to him, watching his eyes buldge out of his skull as you kept talking about the internet and what Wi-fi is. Then everyday, when you two would have a chance to talk you'd show him other devices you owned, to which he'd allways call you a 'witch', whether it was a joke or not you really didn't care.

「 ★ 」 ⠀・When Lanyon found out about Hyde and Jekyll being the same person you were there, making sure to keep him as sane as possible and safe in case Hyde or Jekyll tried anything- after all you and him grew closer over the months you were with him. You did also video everything with a secret camera just incase of anything.

「 ★ 」 ⠀・You expected him to not get as sick as he did originally because you were there and shocked him but unfortunately you couldnt stop it. He was going to end up dying, and in a sad way you blamed yourself; you did force the plot forward.

"[name] I dont need you here okay? I'll be okay, my servants will take care of me" "Bullshit! they don't know anything about medication or taking care of someone" You agrued with Lanyon, staring at him solemly- he was dying and you could tell, you've seen people die like everyday (while you did glorify the future world to Lanyon it was all just you projecting, your timeline is just as bad as the medieval one). "I still have a bunch of stuff I can try to use" You rummaged through your bag after calming down, not daring to look at your friend's sad expression, it would make you emtotional too.

"If nothing can help me from your items, let alone mine, then I'm not worth it... I just still cannot wrap my head around everything." "Then dont, it will only make you worse Lan" You finally had the mental strength to look at him, seeing his pale and tired face made your heart ache, maybe if you never came he's be okay?. no of course he wouldn't be, he'd still die except it would be alone. You just thought that with your arrival and your tech you would be able to at least numb his reaction a bit but I guess seeing a murderer transform into one of your old friends would cause everyone to live in shock, or maybe not. "[Name] listen, promise me, that if I die... which I will, will you keep Utterson company? I fear at the thought of him.... or you being alone after my death"

When did he become so fucking sentimental? with a sad chuckle you responded "I thought you hated me? becuase I'm magical?" "No, I mean, I still find your antics slightly frustating but nothing can be done now. Just please promise me" "okay... fine Lanyon, I promise" ... it took him a while to answer you but he did "Thank you [name], not for just that but for being around me? I suppose your company brought me some sense of joy....." "Thank you too Lan"

「 ★ 」 ⠀・It did break your heart to see Lanyon die, but you had a promise to fufill, and that you did. You kept Utterson company until the day he found about everything too and eventually accepted everything. Even though he gave you chacne to leave him alone you didn't, afterall you had made a promise to Lanyon. What kind of a friend would you be if you didn't keep your promise? a terrible one.
