Hello! Would you be willing to write about someone who finds out that their roommate and childhood best friend is actually some kind of supernatural creature? Preferably m/m but its okay if you’d like to change the genders.
Have a nice day!!!
"You're...uh...wow."
Maybe Holden should be horrified, but all he could really do was stare, dumbly entranced. The staring wasn't that different to normal, if he was going to be really horribly honest with himself.
But Atlas also wasn't normally crouched near stark-bollocks naked in the middle of their dorm room. He didn’t normally have dark, gorgeous wings unfurling from his back. He didn’t normally stare at Holden with eyes that had gone from blue to literally black too. Hungry. Heated.
Holden hastily shut the door behind him before someone else on the floor saw.
"Are you, uh, okay, man?"
His best friend was, very clearly, not okay. His gaze tracked every small movement that Holden made.
"You," Atlas growled through his teeth. "Are not supposed to be here."
"Right. Yeah. Uh. My class was—" Holden lost his trail of thought as he continued to stare. "God,” he said, a little dizzy, “you look incredible."
Five-year old Atlas had been funny and brave. Nineteen-year old Atlas also had the absolute gall to be stunning on top of that. It was, frankly, terrible on a night out. On his own, Holden did okay. When he was standing next to Atlas though, more and more as the years passed by, he may as well have been a potato. He couldn't even hold it against anyone. He did enough trying not to stare himself.
But...he definitely hadn't noticed the wings before. He would have noticed wings, right? Even with that smile and those cheekbones to distract.
He realised, dazedly, that he'd drifted closer. One step, two step, three, until he was standing right over Atlas. Close enough to touch.
"Get out." Atlas sounded strained. "Now." His fingers – his claws – dug into the threadbare carpet.
Holden wanted to run his fingers through Atlas's blond hair. He wanted to kiss his parted lips, the line of his jaw, the beautiful curve of his throat. He wanted to touch every inch of Atlas that he could. He wanted Atlas's hands on him, sure and just as smitten as Holden had been for years, and he'd do anything, offer anything if—
"Holden."
The sharp snap of his name cleared Holden's mind a little. He shook his head and backed up. "Sorry. I—"
What the hell was he doing? Heat rose to his cheeks, mortified.
There were a lot of reactions one could have to seeing their best friend suddenly sprout wings, but Holden was pretty sure he wasn't supposed to just drool over his roommate like some kind of neanderthal. He'd done such a good job of not letting his stupid feelings impact their stupid friendship until stupid now too.
It wasn't like he'd never caught a glimpse of Atlas without his clothes before. It had never made him like – he would never have – but would it be so bad if he just—?
No. Something was definitely wrong.
Holden whirled around, heading back for the door. He'd opened it only a crack when Atlas's hand slammed down on it, shutting it again. The lock clicked as Atlas bracketed him with an arm on either side. They weren’t quite touching, but they were close enough that he could feel the heat of Atlas against his back.
He hadn't even heard Atlas move. His breath hitched.
Atlas groaned. He let his head thunk against the door, above Holden's left shoulder, as he drew in ragged gasps.
Holden heard him swearing and muttering under his breaths. He caught a few words that’s sounded suspiciously like ‘bloody scheming bastard vampires’ and a much more familiar ‘shitshitshit’.
Up close, Atlas’s new cologne was…was it cologne? Holden’s head felt cloudy again. He dug his nails into his palms, desperately shoving down the truly ridiculous urge to turn around and kiss Atlas immediately.
“What the hell is happening?” He squeezed his eyes shut. “You have wings. You have – I feel –”
“You’re supposed to be in class for the next three hours!”
“My class was cancelled,” Holden said. “Some last minute—”
Atlas caught hold of his hips, spinning him as if it was absolutely nothing, pressing him back against the door.
The bit of Holden’s brain that wasn’t too busy with oh, yes please reminded him that Atlas was not that bloody strong. He should not be able to do that. He always skipped the gym when Holden went, despite looking like that.
“What are you?” The obvious question finally penetrated the fog.
Atlas’s attention lingered on his lips, seeming…distracted.
“Incubus,” he murmured. He’d always had a nice voice, but in that moment, that word, it was like caramel. Sweet on Holden’s senses. “God, you’re pretty. Sharing a room was a terrible idea.”
It took a second for the actual response to register, let alone the rest.
Incubus.
“What?” Holden yelped.
It was all some elaborate joke.
(Atlas didn’t do pranks.)
It was impossible.
(Those wings looked very real, no matter how impossible they were.)
How had it taken 14 years for him to notice his best friend was an incubus?
(Did that mean he didn’t really have a crush on his best friend? It was just – what he was?)
Atlas’s fingers grazed just slightly beneath Holden’s jumper, blazing hot against the skin above his hips.
Holden asked no coherent questions whatsoever. He didn’t even manage an incoherent word. Every reasonable thing he should have been considering vanished in a haze.
His best friend was an incubus? Sure! Whatever. Nothing mattered except the fact that there was really far too much distance between them. Atlas’s mouth was right there and – Holden couldn’t have said which of them initiated the kiss, but it was ravenous and he was putty against the door. Head empty. All need and greed and wanting. He finally got to tangle his fingers into Atlas’s always annoyingly perfect hair and –
The lock clicked.
Faster than Holden could fully comprehend, the door was open and Atlas had bodily shoved him into the corridor. He landed sprawling and ungraceful on his butt.
He had a second to peer up, bewildered, at the look of absolute raw desire on Atlas’s face before the door slammed shut. The lock clicked again.
The texts pinged on his phone a moment later.
Don’t come back until I say so.
Will explain later.
Sorry.
Well, crap.
Holden pressed a hand to his mouth, catching his breath and his sanity with Atlas out of view. Then he went to the uni library to research everything he could about incubi.
By the time Atlas texted him that evening, he was ready.

His chest was heaving as he left the lights and the cheers behind him. He was tired. Hyunjin and Felix had immediately ran off ahead of him before it even seemed like music had stopped playing throughout the building. The feeling of sweat cooling against his hot skin made him frown. They were really going to get it when he caught up with them. Air fryer or not.
He walked through the backstage area looking for the two so they could go ahead and get ready to return to their dressing room before their managers decided to go looking for them. He didn’t know what they thought they were doing when they knew the three of them had to be back at the dorm soon.
Minho sighed as he finally saw the two boys at the end of the hallway ahead of him, but stopped as he saw the back of someone standing in front of them. Both Hyunjin and Felix looked invested into the conversation with this mystery person. Of course the two of them would already be off bothering someone else.
Felix looked up and away from the other two cheered as he saw him arrive, calling out for him “Hyung! You have come to meet them, they were also a back up dancer on the Wings tour!”
The older felt his face fill with confusion but still turned to look at the newcomer. Maybe, it was an old choreographer or another back up dancer he may or may have not danced with.
He didn’t expect the face he stared back at. A face he thought of during long nights in the dance studio. A face he thought he’d never see again.
Their outfit placed them as one of the back up dancers for one of the girl groups. Minho tried to shake the confusion from his mind as he clears his throat, “When did you get back to Korea?”
They smirked over at him before replying “I’ve been back. You just didn’t need to know.”
The two younger boys looked in between the newcomer and their hyung and then side eyed each other. “So you do know each other?” Hyunjin was the one to finally break the tension looking to Minho for an answer. Only he didn’t get one from him, “Yeah! Not only were we both on tour with BTS but we were also on the same dance crew growing up.”
The younger two idols looked at each other before they both went to speak, “I—“ their hyung quickly cut them off with a look. “It doesn’t matter.”
“Wow. It doesn’t matter? I guess things never change do they? It didn’t matter then and it sure doesn’t now.” They scoffed, “I guess you got what you wanted ‘Lee Know’. You don’t matter to me anymore.” He looked back at them stunned.
Before either Felix or Hyunjin could comprehend their hyung’s friend? enemy? frenemy? turned towards them, bowed with a tight smile towards them, “It was really nice to meet you two! You both did amazing on stage tonight.” and then they were gone.
[Two hours later]
The show was nearly over and it seemed as if Minho had been searching the building forever. He no longer knew if he was looking for them or if he was avoiding them in some round about way to torture himself by thinking he was seeing them around every corner without ever truly finding what he was looking for.
Finally, after what felt like hours he heard voices coming from a small hallway off to the side of the emptying dressing and green rooms. His feet stopped as soon as he laid his eyes on them. There they were smiling towards another boy group member who he recognized as TXT’s leader, Choi Soobin.
He sighed and as he turned around to leave his childhood friend alone they locked eyes.
The other idol seemed to understand something was about to happen and turned towards the back up dancer. “Just let me know, okay? Text me or Yeonjun-hyung if you need us.”
Minho knew he had no right to feel the way he did. The thought of them relying on someone else like they used to with him made him sick to his stomach. He knew he didn’t deserve it but that didn’t help him feel any different than he did right now.
“What?! I said it didn’t matter so why are you still chasing after me? We don’t need to see each other any more than we already will have to.” They no longer sounded the same as his old friend. No warmth or teasing to it at all , “Are you going to say anything at all or did you just come to tell me that i don’t matter all over again?”
He rushed to finally say something, “Birdie. Please stop and just listen to me for a second!”
“No! You don’t just get to come back after not speaking to me for YEARS and basically say I don’t matter!” Their hands waved around towards him expressing their anger towards him, “You don’t. It’s not fair to do that to me. So let’s go back to never speaking or seeing each other again.”
He yelled after them as they turned their back to him and walked away, “Birdie! I’m sorry I didn’t mean it!”
It was too late. They were gone and he had just fucked it even more than he did last time he stuck his foot in his mouth with them. “Could this get any worse?”
“Uhh— yeah, I think it could’ve definitley gone better” Hyunjin’s voice sounded from behind him.
“Shut up, Hyunjin.”

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Hey, Quacks, how’s the work been treating you?”
I spun around my office chair before kicking up my boots on my desk. It was another slow day the Hero’s Tower. Well, at least for me.
“It’s been going fine. It gets a little hard running a whole casino though, I’ll tell you that much.” He lightly chuckled through the phone.
I’ve known Quackity for a few years now. We attended university together after I moved out of my old neighborhood and into a small town just South of L’manburg city. Quackity was my dorm neighbor. We started talking to each other after I was fed up with all the ruckus I heard through the wall. When I learned that him and some strangers were doing a bit of Poker, I figured why not join. I didn’t stay in contact with those other people, but Quackity, we clicked too easily to let each other go.
“Sounds fun. Hope you’re not stressing too much. Maybe the next time I see you, you’ll be all wrinkly and tired all the time.” I joked, a sly smile on my face.
“Oh, that won’t be happening anytime soon!” He laughed. “Seriously, I got this.”
“—Hey, (y/n).” I looked up from my desk only to be met by Sapnap’s firey gaze. “You got a moment?” He quickly glanced at my phone before returning his eye on me. “We’re having a mini meeting, and we need you in on this one.”
That’s… Strange. I’m usually not called to Hero meetings.
“Oh, uh—” I sat up properly. “—Sure. Just let me wrap up this call.” I said. Sapnap nodded before walking out of my office.
“Need to go?” Quackity asked through the phone.
“Uh, yeah, I guess,” I said reluctantly. My mind raced with a thousand thoughts. Was I in trouble? Did I do something wrong with the last interrogation? “I’ll talk to you, alright, Q?”
“Of course, just let me know whenever you’re free. I’ll catch you later, (y/n).”
“Yeah, see ya!”
I clicked off my phone, sliding it down my pocket.
Oh God.
What’s going on?
I was able to locate the meeting room pretty swiftly. Through the window I saw George, Karl, Sapnap, and Clay. Karl, with his usual bubbly energy, waved at me through the glass. I smiled in return before hiding myself behind the wood door. Through my nostrils I took one deep and steady inhale before slowly letting it go through my nose. Once I felt ready enough, I placed my hand on the cold silver handle, twisting it open to be greeted by the chilly room.
The room wasn’t too extravagent. The walls were painted a navy blue with a long wood table. The ends of the table had one chair while the side parts had two on each side. I decided to take my seat next to Karl with George in front of me and Clay at the end.
“So, you’re probably wondering why you’re here.” Clay started.
“Yeah,” I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. “This isn’t my usual setting, y’know.” Since my power is feared to be too dangerous, I’m usually working in the interrogation and detainment center. It was kind of pitiful thinking about how I’m more used to isolated rooms and gray colors with a criminal in front of me, rather than a nice cozy meeting room with my friends.
“Well… George, Clay, and I came up with a new fighting strat, and I think with your powers, we may finally put the supervillains out of business.” Sapnap grinned. I tilted my head a little.
“What do you mean?” I asked. Clay then stood up and walked behind George and Sapnap where a dry-erase board was located. The two of them turned around, attentive to what Clay had to say.
“Alright look, we already know the Syndicate is our supervillains.” Clay explained, drawing on the board. “Siren, Blade, and Zephyrus being the most threatening of them all. Especially when the three of them are together.” He wrote down their names before circling them all into one group. “I believe with our data now and enough studying, we can analyze their behavioral patterns, what their priorities are, etc.”
I nodded my head, a bit confused on where this was going. I looked over to Karl, who seemed just as confused as I was.
“So, what does this have to do with me?” I asked. Clay smiled, pointing at me with his marker.
“I was just getting to that.” He wrote my name on the board before turning back to face us. “If you could watch these main three—” he pointed at the board. “then you'll have enough information to make convincing enough hallucinations. Enough hallucinations, means more distraction as they fight, which means more wins for us!” he cheered.
I sat there, hands folded in my lap. All four of them had their eyes on me, expecting some sort of comment or response. “…So,” I broke the silence. “I'm basically like.. The secret weapon?”
Karl eagerly nodded as he pulled me closer with an arm. “Yeah! We're finally going to have you fighting with the big guys! Isn't that super cool?”
“Mhm,” George hummed. “You won't be stuck doing interrogations at the detainment center anymore. You’ll be on the battlefield!” He exlcaimed, a small smile on his lips.
This was a lot to take in at once. Frist, I had to stalk the three most dangerous members of The Syndicate for some time, then with enough information, I’ll finally be on the field going on missions?
“So, what do you think, (y/n)?” Sapnap asked, his hands folded on the table.
I looked at all the faces around me. It was barely clicking to me that I finally have the chance to be out there, with my friends, fighting against the villains. It was something I dreamed of doing ever since I moved back to L’Manburg.
“I’m in.” I said proudly.
What could go wrong?
After laying out some planning, I left the HQ and decided to take a bus to Eastside. Besides the Hero District and South Bay, I haven’t been around the other parts of the city, as least in civillian form. Mainly because I was looking to avoid a certain… Family. I haven’t seen the Soot family since I broke up with Wilbur that night. I felt too guilty of our actions, and frankly I swore I would never see Wilbur again after I moved away. Avoiding him in the neighborhood and in school was a hassle by itself.
Once I made it to Eastside, I hopped out of the bus and began walking to a familiar cafe. I figured if I was going to go out exploring, I should go to an area where it was least likely running into the Soots. I turned on my headphones, and began my walk. In my backpack I had my laptop and sketchbook where I was going to plan out my missions.
Once I looked up, realizing I was greeted by the huge sign that read “Puffy’s Cloudy Cafe.”
Alright, here we go.
I pushed open the door and immediately I was hit with the scent of freshly brewed coffee and baked pasteries. I heard a loud gasp in front of me, and I was met by the familiar face of Foolish.
“(Y/N)!” He exclaimed, as he nearly hopping over the counter, I ran up to him and we engulfed in each other in a warm hug.
“Hey, Foolish! How have you been?” I smiled, pulling away.
“I’ve been doing okay! Still working at the cafe, as you can see!” He chuckled. “Where have you been all these years?! I haven’t seen you since graduation!” He asked, placing his hands on his shoulders.
“I left the city to go to University. I only moved back a few months ago but now I live in South Bay!” I smiled. He nodded, taking in my words before pulling away.
“Have you talked to…?” He trailed off, but I knew what he was talking about.
“I haven’t.” I lightly chuckled. “Not since he walked across that stage, but even then, I wasn’t even talking to him like that.”
Foolish tilted his head, a curious smile on his face. “Y’know, I still remember during graduation, you were literally screaming and cheering him on so loudly! But then you tried to shape up as if no one heard you!”
I laughed, punching him the shoulder. “Hey, shut up! Maybe I just got a bit carried away…”
“Mhmm,” He hummed. “Well, I’m about to clock out now and head to Eret’s place—”
As if on cue, two figures walked through the cafe doors.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
You’ve genuinely got to be fucking with me.
Two guys stood in front of us, but I only paid attention to one of their faces.
Those chocolate brown eyes stared back at me. Those eyes I fell in love with the moment I saw them for the first time. They were wide, and they didn’t stray away from mine. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but he stopped himself.
“Hey Toms, hey Wil!” Foolish excitedly introduced. “Wilbur, you remember (y/n), right? She’s finally back in town—!” Before he continued, I kicked him in the foot, earning a loud yelp. He got the hint and backed away from the conversation.
“I— I got work to do.” I quickly mumbled. From the corner of my eye I saw Wil raise his hand out of protest, but I ignored it to hastily find a seat.
I found a duo seat next to the window. I placed my bag in one of the seats to take out my laptop and then sat in the other seat. I jolted my laptop open, somewhat smacking the keyboard impatiently to wake it up.
Ugh, stupid, stupid!
I put my head down, covering face with my arms. My leg shook rapidly from under the table. I shouldn’t have came here. I shouldn’t have came here at all. Who was I to think it would be safe to travel in this area anyway?! This was a stupid idea!
“You must’ve gotten ugly if she was going to run away that fast, man.” I heard a gruff voice snort followed by a sound of someone being shoved.
“T-That’s not true! I… Ugh… Just get to work, asshole.”
That familiar voice.
My heart fluttered at the sound of his deep voice. That deep voice that used to tell me how pretty I looked everyday and asked if I needed help with homework.
But it was the same voice that killed all those men, and maybe even more after that night.
I shook my head. Maybe a coffee would fix my racing thoughts.
I got up from my table and went up to the counter. There I met that boy that was standing next to Wil earlier. He had a red and white shirt under his barista apron. He and blue eyes and a mess of blonde flopped on the top of his head, but what was most distinguishing about his hair was that streak of white.
His eyes widened briefly before a sly grin formed on his face. “Welcome to Puffy’s Cloudy Cafe, what can I get you?” He asked.
“I’ll just have an iced caramel coffee.” I forced a smile on my face. He clicked on some things on the cash register before looking at me again.
“And what’s the name?” He asked.
“(y/n).” I said plainly.
“Alright, I’ll have your order done in a minute.” He said. I nodded, handing him my card. As he swiped in my order, I placed a decent amount of cash in his tip jar. He looked up a bit, a smile quirking up when he realized how much money I put in. “Jeez, dude, what job are you working?” He asked rather jokingly.
“Uhh,” I bit my tongue a bit to hold back my actual answer. “—criminal justice.” I exclaimed, which wasn’t technically a lie. The barista handed me back my card. “Thanks,” I glanced down to look at his nametag. “Tommy.” He nodded, and I headed back to my seat to begin my work.
My laptop had started up, welcoming me with my sunset background. I opened up my web browser and created a word document to jot down all my notes and plans on how I could start stalking the Syndicate. Should I be saying “stalking?” It sounds pretty vulgar. My main focuses had to be Siren, Blade, and Zephyrus. So I figured that maybe I should start with Siren, though that was sort of risky to get into. What was his superpower again..?
“Order for Wilbur and (y/n)!”
Oh, wow.
This kid had to be some kind of fucking troll.
I sighed, reluctantly standing up from my seat. I noticed that Wil was approaching as well, slow with his footsteps. I looked over to Tommy who had this devious grin on his face. Once I walked up to the counter, I noticed that only Wil’s order was on the counter. It had to be either a flat white or a hot coffee with four shots of espresso.
“Here you go, (y/n). Iced caramel coffee.” Tom said, personally handing the beverage to me.
“Knew it…” I heard a soft voice whisper to himself.
He… Remembered my order?
“Thank you, Tom,” I smiled. He nodded, and I headed back to my seat. I took a sip of my coffee to cool down the heat that was rising to my cheeks before continuing my work. With careful listening, I could hear a bit of Tom and Wil’s bickering from the counter.
“Why the fuck would you do that?!” Wil whisper shouted.
“Look, man, they seemed interested! They were staring at your coffee order and mumbling something. Probably knows your order too.” Tom chuckled.
“Shut the fuck up! Don’t do that again, I’m serious!” Wil was practically begging at this point. I resisted the urge to turn around to look at the two. Instead kept my eyes on my screen.
“Okay, okay,” Tom reassured. “I’ll stop. But seriously man, you need to tell me about this when we get home.”
The argument ended there, and though I continued on with my work, the conversation sat in my mind like a brick. My fingers tapped against my laptop, creating rows of writing then sectioning them off into tables. I even enforced this new routine into my daily planner, blocking specifically when I would be working at the station to when I would be learning information about the Syndicate. I stayed in the cafe for another hour until I was finally content with my planning for the next couple of weeks.
With a content sigh, I finally closed my laptop. I looked around, realizing that the cafe was barely occupied. Wil was in another corner with a book whereas Tom was cleaning the espresso machine. I got up, stretching my legs and arms before taking my laptop and sliding it into my backpack. As I was zipping up my backpack, I felt a pair of eyes behind me, but I chose to ignore them. I slid my arms into the straps and fixed my hair behind me. When I turned around, I realized that it was Wilbur who was staring at me. His nose immediately buried into his book once we made eye contact. A small scoff escaped my lips, and I approached Tom at the counter for the final time.
“Hey, Tommy. Just a strawberry cheesecake to go please.” I said, sliding over a $10 bill. “Keep the change as a tip.”
“Coming right up, (y/n).” He placed the bill inside then counted the money before placing it into his tip jar. He then went to the back to grab a plastic container that had a piece of cheesecake drizzled in strawberry syrup with slices of strawberry on the side. “Here you are. You leaving for the day?” He asked, quickly glancing away before returning his eyes on me. I took the container of dessert before smiling.
“Yeah, it’s getting late. Don’t want to be out especially during criminal hour.” I lightly chuckled. Tom nodded, as if understanding.
“Alright, stay safe out there.” He waved. I said my goodbyes before heading toward the door. As I took another step, I heard footsteps approaching me.
“W-Wait.” I turned around, only to be met with a white button up shirt with light blue-gray stripes.
I looked up, and there he was.
His jaw was more defined than it was when we were kids. His hair was more poofy and grew curlier over the years. It was obvious he had grown out of his rounded features. Even his eyes were more narrow. But I knew those freckles scattered all over his face and how his pink lips formed a symmetrical cupid’s bow.
We both stared at each other in silence. One hand gripped at my backpack strap tight while the other clutched at my plastic container.
“Yes?” I asked. It was blank and straight forward, not letting any form of emotion seep through my words.
“I-I just… Well, it’s good to see you in town again.” He said, his hands slightly fidgeting. I noticed that his button up was rolled up to his elbows. His arms were a little bigger than what I remember and his chest looked more built with a curve to his torso. He was also taller. He used to be only a few inches taller than me due to malnourishment. He looked healthier and stronger— Much better than when he did when we first became friends. It made my heart skip a little.
“Oh— Uh. It’s nice to see you too. Sorry, I’ve just been super busy since I moved back into town.” I briefly explained, but even then, I felt like such an idiot for explaining in the first place.
“Oh.” He muttered.
We stared at each other again, not talking. The air felt thick and full of pressure. My heart searched for that familiar comfort in his prescence but it was no use.
“I… I should get going now.” I said, slightly gesturing to the door.
“Right— Uh… I’ll see you around?” He asked, a little glimmer in his eyes as if hopeful. A bit of me ached seeing him so desperate.
“Uh, yeah.” I quickly said without thinking. What? “Yeah, I’ll see around.”
I turned around and pushed open the glass door. The cold breeze slapping me in the face.
Holy shit.
Did I just talk to Wilbur Soot?

Your father’s gaze was not on you this day. Dark clouds hung low and heavy, threatening rain at any moment. Not a glimpse of sunlight was able to peek through. While you usually would have been happy to be out of his all seeing eye, having a parent right now would have been nice. You wanted the lush leather of the office arm chair to swallow you whole.
“Before we start, I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss” Principal Weems tried to be comforting, but it was a phrase you had heard too many times in the past few months.
“Thank you, ma’am.” you never knew how to respond to it either.
“Now.” the older woman spun her chair around so she could reach for a desk drawer. You could hear the click of her heels on the floor as she turned. At her distraction, you spared a glance out of the window. Through the thin curtains you could see forms of people. You could get a flash of a vibrant coat or the shape of a cart rolling belongings around. Weems came back up with a manila folder.
“I understand you have been homeschooled these past two years by your mother.” You nodded your head “your academics are not in question, all of your work has been looked over and is more than adequate for you to be able to continue here.” She turned a page, pausing briefly in her speech to scan the document. “Now, your previous dorm room has been filled already, but I can still put you in Ophelia Hall. How does that sound?”
While it came from a place of good, Principal Weems was trying to be gentle with you; as if a single misspoken word would send you into a frenzy.
“That would be great, thank you.”
“Excellent.” she did some more scanning “Now, I would think your old uniform is a tad too small for you now, so I’ve had a new set sent to your room. Your schedule,” she pronounced it so Britishly “and other papers are all here, so all that’s left is to get you settled in.” she slid the file over to you. As you reach out to grab it, Weems placed her hand over yours, pulling back almost instantly at the heat.
“Sorry ma’am.
“Quite alright.” She examined her hand for any burns. In finding none, she continued “Now I know these past few years have not been easy for you, (Y/N). If you ever need anything, I want you to tell me, alright.” You nodded again, looking directly into her eye “Your guardian has also asked that I set you up with someone local to help you through these times.” You felt your stomach drop “We have a trusted therapist in Jericho who has been excellent in the past. It is all very discrete and...”
“Thank you, Principal Weems.” you cut her off, sliding the folder off of the desk. You stood. “Will that be all?”
“Yes, dinner is at 7 but, uh, you remember that.” you nodded your head “Do you need help moving in?” she looked at you with a motherly care in her eye.
“No, I should be good.” You walked to the door. “Have a nice day.”
The road leading to Nevermore Academy was packed with cars of all types. Decadent chauffeur cars were parked neatly along the side while battered minivans and what could only be described as grandpa cars sat crooked on the grass. You made your way along the drive until stopping at a large wheeled wrangler. While the inside was empty of people, you could see the edges of wings from the top of the car.
“Ya know, I think it’s soooo fuckin’ dumb that I couldn’t be in there with ya.” The voice was feminine, alto in nature with slightest hint of a Boston accent. “I may not be ya blood, but I’m still ya god damn legal guardian.”
“It’s alright, it’s not like you missed much.” your shoes scuffed against the asphalt “It was just my schedule and stuff. Plus the mandatory sorry for your loss speech” There was a bark of laughter as a response “Besides, you can still help me move in.” A slight groan broke through the amusement of the being on the top of the car, but she was still laughing. You walked around to the back of the wrangler and opened the trunk.
“You didn’t tell me you wanted me to go to therapy while I was here.” The laughter stopped. A horned head emerged from the top car, red eyes looking down at you. Loose strand of dark hair fell forward, making a sort of curtain.
“It’s for my peace of mind, (Y/N). It’ll make me sleep bettah knowing ya got someone here for ya: just to check in.” she paused “Sorry I didn’t tell ya.”
“It’s okay, Leto.” In all honesty, you weren’t mad at all. It warmed your heart to know she worried about you that much. You picked up one of your bags, slinging it over your shoulder.
“You gonna help me or what?”
A loud thump shook the car as Leto slid off the top.
“Ya lucky I like you.”
“Sure.” she lightly smacked you with the edge of her bat-like wings and stood next to you, eyeing up the amount of stuff you had to bring up.
“Think we can bring it up in one trip?” she asked, testing the weight of one of your boxes.
You huffed “Probably.”
You could bring everything up in one trip, but at the cost of feeling in your forearms. Leto wasn’t faring any better. Having the bright idea to hang bags from her horns, her head was being weighed down to the point where she just asked you for directions. After lugging yourselves up stairs and through long halls you came to your room. Praying that there was someone inside, you kicked your foot against the door. You heard music stop and shuffling until the door was open. Over the boxes in your hands, you could see a hat covered head and the arch of  a brow.
“Oh wow?” was the first thing your roommate said and you and Leto walked past her.
All but throwing the items burning your body, you shook out your forearms and turned to face your new roommate. The first thing you noticed about her was how tall she was, almost besting Leto’s 6’1. The next was the maroon beanie carefully wrapped around the top of her head; a gorgon. She stuck her hand out, and you saw her nails were neatly done in a crimson polish.
“Hello, you must be (Y/N). I’m Marcella Petropolis.” you shook your hand some more willing the heat to leave your fingertips. Taking her hand in a firm grasp, you shook it without any issue.
“It’s nice to meet you, Marcella.” The taller girl smiled before clapping her hands on her thighs
“I’m so sorry I can’t stay but I have to go help my brother. Want to meet up at dinner, get to know each other?”
You smiled back “That sounds great.” She began walking to the door
“See you soon.”
“I like her” Leto announced from out in the hall, a mix of her wings and the luggage keeping her there “now please fucking help me.”
You quickly walked over “Sorry”
Moving in didn’t take nearly as long as you expected. After scooting your bed so it was against the wall and pushing your desk so you could look out the window, it was easy work. Leto put your clothes away as you lined up plants and trinkets along the windowsills and nightstand. Even though you weren’t on the top floor, you still had a small balcony overlooking the school, accessible through the window behind your bed. You had sun-catchers dangling in front of the windows for when the clouds decided to leave. A quilt, made by your mother, covered your bed where a few too many pillows had been piled up. In the corner where the bed had originally been, you put your small potion brewery.  In all, it was coming together nicely.
As the dark sky became darker, and the final thing was put into place, your heart began to grow heavy. Leto would have to leave. Leto hadn’t left you alone since the funeral.
Turning around, you already found the succubus looking at you. While her eyes were in your direction, she was off somewhere else.
“What are you thinking about?” you haphazardly put down the vials you were holding and turned to face her.
“Yah Ma.” she answered “and how proud she’d be of ya.”
You smiled slightly “Thanks Let”
Leto held out her arms wide, smiling to the point where her fangs showed. You happily accepted the embrace, pulling yourself closer as her wings wrapped around you.
“What are you going to do when I’m gone?”
You felt the rumble of a chuckle in her chest “I have some work that’s gonna take me out West. I should be back at home before your break.” You nodded into her “Hey, promise me you’re gonna take care of yaself, okay? It can get all types of wild here and I just…” she cut off, swallowing loudly “I just want ya to have a good time. Ya deserve it.” If possible, you pulled her even closer.
“I promise, Let. You don’t have to worry though, it's just school.”
“Ha, nice try” she freed you from her wings and let go, opting to place her hands on your shoulders “I legally have to worry about ya. Remember?”
You smiled, it didn’t reach your eyes
“Alright, I’m gonna go before ya make me cry.” Leto pushed off your shoulders, a dramatic move for just turning around. “Get good grades, don’t do drugs, use a condom…”
“Hey!”
She turned around and winked, “Ya can never be too safe.” Her eyes lingered on you for just a second “ I love ya, (Y/N). Don’t forget to call.”
“I won’t, love you too.”
With that, she was gone. You listened till the sound of her boots on the stone floor dissipated before letting out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
As you walked down to the first floor many familiar faces passed you. Enid Sinclair; her family has sent you meals and care packages all throughout your mother’s illness. Paul Pasker; his father had been your pharmacist. Yoko Tanaka; she has been your roommate for your first years at Nevermore. Xavier Thorpe; the last time you had seen him was at the funeral a few months back. You knew these people, or, you had. You knew them two years ago before your mom got sick and you had left. Now they were just people whose names you knew.
Walking into the vast room that was the cafeteria, you searched for a maroon head. You found Marcella sitting in a corner, also scanning the crowds. When she spotted you, she waved you over to the small table. Heels clicking on the stone tiles, you walked over.

Mattheo was sitting in his bed thinking of y/n and remembering them before it all went dark. Once he had opened his eyes he had noticed an old friend that he and y/n had taken a liking to, was watching him.
“Tell me what actually happened to y/n” he told Mattheo. His name was Jordan and had been y/n’s friend for years. “I told you all I know” Jordan didn’t believe him so he ended up punching him.
Mattheo would have hit him back but his legs and hands were tied with rope on a chair. “Let me go” he tried escaping but it was no use. “You put yourself in this” Jordan told him with a smirk.
Mattheo had no idea what he would do but he didn’t want to think of y/n. He didn’t answer him but saw Jordan grab a remote and turned the tv on. Jordan got out his wand and penetrated Mattheo’s mind. Small bright pictures began showing up on the screen. Pictures of y/n and videos were playing of her too.
YEAR 1:
It was a bright sunny day as the sun shone down onto both of them. “Hey I’m y/n, nice to meet you” she said waving to Mattheo. “Mattheo, Mattheo Riddle” he expected her to run away screaming but instead she stood there smiling. “Have you had a nice day?” “Besides everyone freaking out at me then yeah, suppose”
Y/n was scribbling away at a small potions test that she couldn’t understand. “I can’t do this,” she muttered. Mattheo was sitting next to her and noticed how tense she was. “The answer is dragon heart and phoenix tear” he whispered to her. “Thanks”
YEAR 2:
“Do you think if there is an actual heir of Slytherin that’s opened the chamber?” Y/n asked Mattheo as she started reading some books about potions. “Maybe, I’m not believing anything till I see solid proof” he simply told her. Harry,Ron and Hermione were frantically running and splashing in the water and soon the teachers were rushing over..again. “There’s your proof, Riddle” she said before turning away.
“Mr Riddle please come this way” McGonagall had told Mattheo, taking him out of his lesson.”Now, this may be a shock” she said, guiding him into the infirmary. His jaw dropped realising that y/n was petrified on the hospital bed, Her hands were reading a book that was labelled ‘history of Hogwarts’ and her face looked like she had only just lifted up her head. “She was facing a mirror, take your time Mr Riddle” she said before leaving Mattheo sitting next to the frozen y/n.
YEAR 3:
“Those dementors scare the living daylights out of me” y/n laughed. “Well as long as they're doing their job I’m not bothered”. It was lunchtime as they were all gathered in the hall. “Do you think they’ll catch him? Sirius I mean” Mattheo thought about her question before responding. “I mean they have to”
The quidditch match wasn’t a great idea considering the fact there was a massive rain and lightning problem. “They honestly shouldn’t be letting them do this but it’s fun to watch” y/n said cheering people on. “It really is,” he agreed looking at y/n.
YEAR 4:
“Who are you hoping to win?” y/n asked Mattheo as they both were cleaning out their dorms but y/n came to help Mattheo clean his. “I’m not bothered who wins. Have you heard about the yule ball?” he asked. “Of course I have, why?” Y/n tied her hair into a bobble as a quick thing to stop her hair going into her face. “I was wondering if you wanted to go with me” y/n stopped doing everything. “Are you serious?” “You don’t have to-” “I would love to go”
“Oh my god, Theo someone’s dead” y/n told him as the body of Cedric was laying on the field. “It’s Voldemort, he’s back” Harry yelled. Y/n knew this was a sensitive subject as her best friend was the son of him. “Theo, ignore it” she held his hand to comfort him even though she knew she wasn’t great at comforting someone.
YEAR 5:
“Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the world. It’s said to smell different to what attracts them” Hermione explained to Professor Slughorn. Y/n was talking with Mattheo about how he was now a player for quidditch until Professor Slughorn stopped them. “Y/n, Mattheo why don’t you come up and test this Amortentia” They knew they had no choice so they unwillingly walked over. “I smell vanilla and watermelon” Mattheo said, causing the other girls fawning over him to back away. “I smell..a cologne and,uh, cigarettes” y/n placed her hand on her arm and went to the back of the class distancing herself from Mattheo. They both knew he had smelt her and she had smelt him.
Mattheo was playing quidditch with his big supporter, y/n, cheering him on. “YOU CAN DO IT THEO!” she yelled as he scored a goal and massive cheers and claps flooded everyone’s head. “150 points to Slytherin” the commentator said. “100 points to Ravenclaw” the golden snitch zoomed past Mattheo as he told his teammate where it was. “SLYTHERIN HAS WON”. Afterwards, a small slytherin party was held for congratulations. “You know, you did better than I thought you would” y/n told him as he rolled his eyes. They shared glances as y/n noticed his eyes going from her left eye to her right and then to her lips. They both stepped in front of each and planted a kiss on each other’s lips.”Will you be my girlfriend?” he asked as she immediately nodded.
YEAR 6:
“Are you hiding something from me Theo?” she asked him as she started noticing his strange behaviour. “What do you mean?” “You keep skiving lessons, disappearing for days on end and not telling me where you’ve been. And I swear I’ve seen you going somewhere with Draco and pretending like you don’t even know what I’m on about” she felt relieved to let it all out. “I can’t tell you” “Yes you can, because I’m just going to think the worst. Like you fancy someone else or you’ve joined a cult or you hate me or something even worse like-” “I'm a death eater okay!” he blurted as y/n’s face dropped. “Are you serious?” He pulled up his sleeve to show the dark mark. “Why didn’t you tell me?” “I was afraid you’d hate me” he muttered more to himself than to y/n. She didn't yell at him, she didn't do anything but one thing she did do was hug him. Tightly. "I don't care, I just wanna know that you're okay"
Dumbledore's dead body plummeted to the ground causing alarm to anyone. The glass chandeliers smashed by Bellatrix as y/n and the other pupils started forming around what had happened. Y/n stood there noticing Mattheo with all the bad people. "why?" she mouthed, he bowed his head down as they all apparated away. "good god" she whispered.
YEAR 7:
"Have you seen Mattheo?" Hermione asked y/n as she stood their with Ron and Harry. "No I haven't" she coldy said. "Do you have an idea-" "No I don't! If I did I wouldn't be sitting here in Hogwarts" she yelled causing attention to herself. "Now please leave me alone" she said picking up her books and heading to her dorm. Pictures of them both were stuck to her wall so like a spitefull person she ripped them off the wall.
Voldemort and his followers stood in the grounds of Hogwarts as Mattheo came into view. Y/n rushed over so he could see her "You are such an asshole" she told him. Mattheo stood by his hand for a second till he decided to run over to her. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I had no choice" he was begining to panic. "Yeah well I still care for you no matter what you do" they both slightly laughed and it eased the tension. "My boy has gone soft has he?" they heard him say. "I rather be soft than be like you" he told Voldemort. He got out his wand and yelled "Crucio!" y/n was sent on the floor screaming in pain. "Father stop it, now!" indeed his father did stop using crucio but on one condition. "Kneel to me son" Mattheo lowered his leg onto the ground and bowed down to him. His wand was twisting about in his hand before he yelled a spell unleashing mayhem and Harry leapt out of Hagrid's arms. "Run!" Mattheo told y/n as she began disarming the witches and wizards. Mattheo was running with her before one of Voldemort's followers followed them both. They were getting close to a ledge that none of them wanted to fall down."How dare you disrepect the dark lord over a silly little girl" he cast a spell sending y/n falling down the abyss. "Avada kedavra" he said killing the man. She was holding onto Mattheo's hand. "Let go, you'll be okay" he kept shaking his head. "You can't hold on, I love you" "I love you too" she let go off his hand as she plummeted into the ocean.
••
"What did you want to get out of this?" Mattheo asked Jordan. "To know the truth about how she lived oh sorry I mean died" Jordan said. Mattheo gave him a puzzled expression before he pressed onto his arm and two men, tall and scruffy, stood with a girl in the middle with shoulder length hair. "Y/n?" he asked as his tears were mixing in with the blood from the punch. "Theo?". "I thought you died, I saw it" the blood dripped onto the floor and y/n's stomach churned. "Well turns out I almost did but Jordan sorta saved me. So, I wanted to go to you but me and Jordan had a deal so I couldn't"
Mattheo's eyes darted from Jordan to the guys and then to y/n. "You didn't even send me an owl or anything to let me know that you were alive. I was fucking hurting thinking it was all my fault when in reality you just lied, for months" Jordan was watching from afar "come on boys let's leave em to it" he said before they apparated away. "I did try to send an owl to you but my owl sent it back so of course I thought the worst. Jordan told me he went on a search to find you but said he couldn't" she explained. Mattheo couldn't pinpoint why she couldn't just tell him she was alive to save him from all the guilt and grief. "You could have told me that day but you didn't" "I was unconscious and thought I did die until I woke up and saw Jordan looking after me"
Y/n untied Mattheo from the ropes and let him stand up "I won't forgive myself for not telling you" "yeah well I still care for you no matter what you do" they couldn't help themselves from smiling. "I'm just glad you're okay, I still love you" "I still love you too"

Your only family
I really like platonic yanderes, there's so much potential for both cuteness and horror! Like, have a mother be like "I love you so much I'll kill everyone who hurts you!" and then have someone like a toxic friend or partner hurt you and later have the mom covered in blood and say "Are you ok? They didn't hurt you too badly, did they? Don't worry, I'll always protect you." it can be GREAT if done right.
So uh, on that note... platonic yandere Leech twins x child reader :)
Warning(s): platonic yandere behaviour, mentioned kidnapping and starvation, serious injury, heavy manipulation near the end, stockholm syndrome (or at least smth similar to it)
Tumblr media
Jade was on one of his mountain hikes, an often peaceful activity. He observes the land animals, collects mushrooms and sometimes flowers, explores caves, talks with other hikers if he ever runs into any... it's so nice.
Today, he's found an old cottage. He knocked on the door, and waited for a response. When he knocked once more, the door opened on it's own. Looking inside the cottage, it looked like it's been abandoned for a while.
Jade looked around inside the abandoned cottage, hoping to find something interesting. And, he certainly did find something interesting... just not what he expected to find in an abandoned cottage.
He heard a small child crying. Confused, he walked into the room he heard the crying from. And there, he saw a ribbon eel merchild, stuck in a small fish tank.
You were all alone in an unfamiliar world. You were scared, and hungry, and cramped in a small tank. You wanted so badly to be saved...
"Excuse me, merchild?" Somebody spoke. "Over here."
You looked over to the direction of the voice. It's a human with teal hair and two different coloured eyes. He smiled politely when he saw you looking at him.
"Ah, hello! May I ask what you're doing here?" He asked. "Are you in danger?"
You didn't want to speak to him, but you did nod your head.
"I see. I assumed so." He sighed. "How hard is it for certain humans to realize it's unethical to capture merfolk? Here, child, I'll bring you somewhere safe."
He pulled you out of the small tank. It was so tight and you were so squished in there that it made a *pop!* sound when you were pulled out.
"Oh my, what a long tail." He said, seeing just how long you were now that you were out of the tank. "You're a ribbon eel?" He asked, and you nodded. "Ah, so you're a type of moray. How interesting! Would you mind telling me your name?" You shook your head. "No worries then, child. I won't force you to tell me anything you don't want to."
He carried you with him down the mountain through the forest.
"Have you heard of Night Raven College?" He asked. "I'm a student there. You've heard of the Great Seven, haven't you? I'm a part of the dorm that was based upon the benevolence of the Sea Witch. As you can see, I'm quite benevolent myself!"
You didn't really care about what he was saying.
He carried you through a mirror, and you had another long 'conversation' while walking. He carried you through yet another mirror, and you'd finally arrived at the destination.
"This is the lounge of Octavinelle." He told you, sitting down cross legged on the floor. Then, another person entered. He looked nearly identical to the one holding you. "Hello, Floyd."
"Uhh... what ya got there, Jade?"
"Things I foraged on my hike!"
"Oh, reeeeeeeeeally?" Floyd asked, jokingly. He crouched down in front of you and Jade, and pinched your cheek. "You're meaning to tell me you foraged this li'l pipsqueak? What, is this some kind of rare new species of mushroom, or something~?"
"I-I'm not a mushroom!" You told him.
"Woah! It speaks! Jade, you found a talking mushroom?!" Floyd playfully asked. "I had no idea mushrooms could speak! That's a wonder of biology!"
"I said I'm not a mushroom!" You laughed.
"Are you suuuure? Because that's EXACTLY what a talking mushroom trying to take over the world would say!" Floyd poked your forehead a few times. "What evil plans do you have stewing in that mycelium of yours~?"
"I'm a ribbon eel!" You insisted, still laughing.
"Hmm..." Floyd stared at you. "Ya know what? Now that you say it, you do kinda look like a ribbon eel! Hey, Jade, what's with the smallfry?"
"I found them in a fish tank in an abandoned cottage during my hike today." Jade explained. "They informed me they were in danger, so I brought them back here to stay with us."
"Ooh! I've always wanted to be an older brother! I never got to with you." Floyd pouted. "Hey, little mushroom, what's your name?"
You were still a bit hesitant to tell them your name. Even if they seemed nice, overall you still had no idea who they were.
"Not talkin', huh?" Floyd asked. "Well that's fiiiiiine... I guess you must not mind me callin' you little mushroom, eh? 'Cause I'll call you that until I know what your name is..."
"Um... i-it's (Y/N)." You admitted. "My name's (Y/N)."
"(Y/N), I promise you my brother and I will find your parents." Jade told you. "But until then, you're safe with us."
Just then, another person entered the room. He had confusing grey-purple hair, blue eyes, and glasses.
"Jade, Floyd, what is that?" He asked.
"This is (Y/N). They're a ribbon eel merchild I found in a fish tank in an abandoned cottage on my hike this morning." Jade explained.
"Pleeeeease can we keep them, Azul??? Can we can we can we???" Floyd asked, as if you were some stray kitten he'd found.
"What?! No! They should be returned to their family as soon as possible, they can't stay with us!" Azul yelled. "We're teenagers, we can't take care of a child! Even if we could, they can't stay in Octavinelle! We have to manage the Mostro Lounge! We have to-"
"Do you hear something, Jade?" Floyd asked.
"Hm... no, nothing whatsoever, Floyd." Jade responded.
"Oh, Great Seven, I hate you two sometimes..." Azul sighed in frustration. He sighed, knowing that arguing will get him nowhere. "Fine. You can keep them in the dorm. But they're your responsibility, understand?.
"Thaaaaanks, Azul~!"
"We intend to take good care of them.
"I also expect you two to continue working your shifts at the Lounge. I'm not giving you indefinite time off for you to find this kid's parents."
"I have a solution to that." Jade smiled. "If there's one thing I know people find cute, it's children in fancy outfits. (Y/N) would be great for business!"
"...huh? Are you suggesting I employ a child?" Azul asked. "What a ridiculous idea.
"Oh Great Seven, this was an amazing idea!"
Jade was right. Just give you a potion to turn you human, a few lessons on how to use your legs properly, and a child-sized Octavinelle uniform, and just like that business skyrocketed.
Azul had you waiting tables, and people loved it.
"Yes, it was. Aren't you glad you let us keep (Y/N) in the dorm, now?" Jade asked.
"...I suppose."
You've learned a lot during your time with Jade and Floyd. How to walk, how to speak properly, how to act like a human would, how to threaten people... though, apparently, you didn't look all that scary when threatening people.
"Oh dear, it seems trouble is brewing." Jade said. "(Y/N) just spilled a drink on a Savannaclaw student."
"Oh no." Azul said, keeping his composure, but freaking out on the inside. "I can only hope that he realizes they're literally a child and chooses to just forgive them..."
"Azul, I think we both know that isn't going to happen."
Nobody likes seeing a child crying on the floor. People like it even less when that child has annoyed them.
You're crying on the floor, just trying to apologize, and not being able to through your tears. Suddenly, somebody stood in front of you, separating you from the Savannaclaw student. It was Floyd.
"What's going on here?" He asked. "If they did something wrong, you can bring it up with me."
"Huh? W-well this brat... uh... spilled a drink on me."
"Oh, did they?" Floyd asked. "And you're planning on gettin' angry at this kid? You were gonna fight 'em like you do with the rest of our staff?" The Savannaclaw student looked nervous when he said that. "Yeah, I recognize you. Did you not hear when I told you to never come back here?"
"I-I mean I did hear you, I just thought it wasn't too serious, y'know? I mean really, what I did wasn't that bad."
"Yeah, but I still told you to never come back. You think that with those giant ears o' yours, you'd've understood what 'never show your stupid face here again or I'll slam it into a table like you did to that employee' meant." Floyd angrily told the person.
"But that guy was asking for it!"
"I'll give you three seconds to leave the Lounge, pond scum."
...
...
...
"Fine, then. Your own fault if you END UP IN THE HOSPITAL!"
You didn't get to see entirely what happened, Floyd's legs obscured your view, but you heard a glass plate shatter, and something hard hit the table over and over.
"Floyd, let him off easy." Jade picked you up off the ground, covering your eyes with his hand. "He didn't physically harm any of our dorm mates, or (Y/N) for that matter."
"...I guess you're right."
"However. You do need to leave. As Floyd said, you are not supposed to be here. You should leave, before our Housewarden tells us to... escort you out personally."
"Y-yeah! I'll leave! I'll never come back, I-I swear!!"
The twins were very protective over you. After all, you are a part of their family.
The two eventually revealed to you that they were mermen, like you! And not to mention, they were morays! Ribbon eels like you are a species of moray, how cool!
Though... you did miss your family. Your real family. They're probably wondering where you are, right? They probably miss you a lot, don't they...?
"Eh? What's with the tears, smallfry?" Floyd asked you one night as you cried on the couch of Octavinelle's lounge (not the one you work at) "Something bothering you?"
"I miss my family...!" You told him, crying.
"Huh? Whaddaya mean? Jade and I are your family, (Y/N)!"
"M-my parents... and s-siblings... they're a-all worried about me! T-they're w-wondering where I-I-I am...!" You cried.
"Oh, poor dear, are you homesick?" Jade asked, draping a blanket over you. "Home is where the heart is, as they say. So, you have no reason to be sad, so long as you're surrounded by family. And you are! Floyd and I are your big brothers now, aren't we?"
"N-no!!" You wailed. "I want to be in the water with my real family!!!"
"Aw... Jaaaaade, you made (Y/N) cry!" Floyd pointed accusingly at his brother.
"I did no such thing. They were crying before I began talking."
"Well, they're crying harder than they were before, so you did do such a thing."
"(Y/N), I apologize for what I am about to say. I didn't want to tell you, as you are a child, but it seems it is necessary for me to tell you." Jade said, crouching down and grabbing your face. "Your parents and siblings are most likely dead. Assuming they were captured along with you, and were kept in similar conditions to you, and how long you've stayed with us, it's most likely they're all dead by now! You're extremely lucky to have survived as long as you did on your own without food, I doubt the rest of your family would've survived as long. And even if they did, the only reason you did survive was because I found you in that abandoned cottage. I doubt the rest of your family was as lucky."
You couldn't even cry. All you could do was sit there in shock.
"Do you understand now, (Y/N)? Floyd and I are your only family."
Everything he had said hit you all at once.
He was probaby right.
You were starving when Jade found you. If not for him, you probably would've died.
Your family probably wasn't as lucky as you were.
You're alone.
You're alone.
Well, no... that isn't true.

Hey so I am starting to get into Jupiter Ascending fandom (a couple years late but what can I say). I was thinking of writing a fic. Do you have any resources for JA extra information?
Thanks in advance. Also I am loving your fic (it's how I started getting into the fandom lololol). can't wait to reread!!!
HOOOOOOO BOY!!!!
I'm paging @bemusedlybespectacled, @gallifreyburning, @vr-trakowski, @sorrelchestnut, @florentinequill, @fuckyeahjupiterascending, @vrabia, and honestly ANYONE ELSE who wants to chime in here, bc HOOOOOOO BOY!
Tumblr media
(I made that sweet puppy in fucking 2015 on my dying laptop in the travel study dorm in DC, JUPITER ASCENDING HOW I LOVE THEE)
The eternal fucking tragedy of Jupiter Ascending is that the wider world doesn't love it like we do. Does it have every single thing that turns my crank, id-wise? Sure! Does it have gorgeous over-the-top sequined costumes and extravagant set pieces that remind you at every minute that this movie specially thanked Swarovski Crystal in the credits? Sure! Does it have theeeee single most pinpoint reading of MY PERSONAL FEMALE GAZE that Channing Tatum has ever done? (sorry mister Magic Mike, but you do not even come CLOSE to "may I kill him?" in terms of sexy) SURE! Was this movie a commercial or critical success? Absolutely not 😔
There isn't, as far as I'm aware, an art book. There isn't an official novelization. There isn't even an actual script posted to the usual internet databases that isn't just an automatic shitty talk-to-text rendition of the movie dialogue. There are concept art paintings and old cast interviews floating around, and this auction website where the Wachowskis auctioned off some of the props from the movie, but as far as canon resources and extra material beyond the movie itself there isn't much. A quick duckduckgo search would probably be more helpful to you than anything else, if any of the websites still have the articles up - it WAS eight years ago, and doesn't that just break my fucking heart.
My corner of tumblr LOVED this movie. In 2015, there were TONS of posts gathering interviews, posting concept art, making cosplays, all the signs of a small but healthy fandom ecosystem. However, we call this the blue hellsite for a reason - not all of those resources are still there, and the ones that survived time and incompetent archival site coding are probably difficult to find. I would definitely recommend trawling the JA tags of all the blogs I tagged at the start of this post, as JA introduced me to two of my longest and most beloved of all mutuals. ALL of their insights were key to A Fine Chain.
There is also my own jupiter ascending tag and my more specific jupiter ascending meta tag, although I don't know how bored you are lol. The general JA tag is 105 pages - I would almost recommend just starting at page 105 and working forward from there since it chronicles my descent into kinky space angel werewolf brain rot pretty nicely. There are also my ao3 bookmarks for JA.
I WILL SAY that it has been 8 years, and I have changed into a very different person than the one I was when I first saw this movie. I don't REGRET the first few chapters of A Fine Chain, or any of my breathless meta posts, but I do think that if I were to write any of them over again, I'd hope that my writing style has matured and I'd have lots more extra material to draw from. Actually graduating from law school, writing long fic in another fandom, and generally percolating more as a person has given me lots of new perspectives on JA that make it more interesting even as I still enjoy it (for example, HBO's Succession is ODDLY RELEVANT and I wish there were more JA fanwriters to take advantage of that fact).
...I hope that was helpful? I will ETERNALLY mourn the fact that this fandom wasn't isn't bigger - we haven't even broken 1k on ao3! But EYE MYSELF am here to discuss JA stuff as long as this weird spurt of creative energy sustains me, and my inbox is always open!

ellie... may I please know more about Chaos or the pixies? 🥺 pleaseeeee 🥺
of course my love!! <3 sorry it got so long ehe 👉👈
The pixies live in a pixie-specific dorm (which is basically a large birdhouse that Sheela and Huxley built) since they're all very close and tend to stick together as a pack. The ones you've met already are a group of six, but there's more pixies on campus if you know where to look. They aren't necessarily students, but aren't necessarily staff either; pixies tend to hole up wherever they fancy, and since they're quite rare and one of very few monster species that aren't governed by anyone but themselves, they're allowed to come and go as they please. Plus, they're considered to be good luck by most, so even their mischief is tolerated to a high degree since it's considered just part of their nature. They're usually pretty docile but since your arrival they've gotten.....more active than usual.
See, pixies have a long history with humans, but due to the current state of the monster-human world and the scarcity of the pixies themselves, they rarely if ever get to interact with humans like their ancestors did. It's one of the reasons that faeries, a sub-species of the pixie grouping, are so rare too nowadays--faeries are almost always born from a pixie-human union, so despite their long lifespans the race of faeries is slowly dying off. So the pixie girls on campus are eager to find ways to get close to you, partly because they're absolutely fascinated with humans...and partly because they'd like to recruit you, such a nice and pretty human, to make nice and pretty faerie babies that will revive their population! <3 Pixies are creatures of ecstasy though, and they can get easily distracted, so needless to say they might need a little time to get around to that while they're busy messing around with you and figuring out what you like. But lucky for you, pixie dust is a very potent aphrodisiac for humanoids--and lucky for them, they're small and sprightly enough to get under your clothes even while you're in the middle of class, just to give you a little pep boost for the day ♡
Chaos is a household curse and very well-known in myth, but very, very few have ever had the displeasure of meeting him in person and lived to tell about it. Chaos is one of the last and oldest titans known to both gods and man, imprisoned in The Pits in the deepest, darkest area of the Underworld for thousands upon thousands of years. Aside from being an immortal god whose actions are impossible to predict, Chaos was imprisoned for eternity for the crime of murdering the old gods who once ruled over the Holy and Unholy lands. Although many believe his treason was borne out of nothing more than a destructive, rageful urge and acted upon by impulse, scholars have uncovered many old tomes and ancient texts penned by godly scribes about Chaos' life as a free god; including the snatches of records that indicate that Chaos once had a lover and home he was wholly devoted to. Although the general public tends to prefer the simpler ideology of Chaos being an unpredictably evil god punished by the forces of good, it's been well-established in record that Chaos' story is much more...elaborate than that, and it roughly follows as such.
Eons prior to common memory Chaos once walked the earth as divinity in human form, freshly separated from his sibling Creation where they once were inseparable. Feeling a sense of dread and loneliness at walking the world alone that he helped shape, Chaos wandered until he stumbled upon a treasure in the sands of a beach; a pearl nestled safely inside a rugged oyster, perfectly shaped and smooth and cool to the touch. New to such a natural wonder and unable to resist the pull of a prize that had manifested without his or Creation's influence, Chaos claimed the pearl and carried it up the mountains he had made his home to the highest peak. There, he held out the polished treasure that he had kept so safe and warm to the sun, and with the radiance of the holy lands shining down a spirit sprung from the pearl! The glow of the holy lands spun that spirit into human form out of its light, and with the pearl nestled safely in the crest of their newly-beating heart, a new divinity entered the world; Eden, the first valkyrie of the gods and the first creation made from both earth, heaven, and underworld influence.
At first sight Chaos fell to his knees and wept, his loneliness forgotten, and he grew deeply infatuated upon the first touch of their hands as Eden helped him to his feet. The two were soon lovers and built a home for themselves, happy and content with their simple lives, until the old gods called Eden back to attend to their duties as a valkyrie. They were forced to fight the battles of the old gods and would return to their husband Chaos broken and exhausted, but never able to refuse the will of their deities who had given them life and love, and never without a smile on their face for him and him alone. Eventually the old gods demanded Eden's permanent return to the heavens and were stoutly refused, thus in petty retaliation they subdued Chaos and murdered his beloved spouse as punishment, stripping their immortality from them and casting their body into The Pits to suffer for the couple's shared act of defiance. And in a grievous rage, Chaos broke his shackles and rampaged through both the Holy Lands and the Underworld, slaughtering the old gods and each and every divinity that served them until he grew tired and slow from his injuries. In that moment of weakness the remaining deities cast him into The Pits to be sealed away forever and never return to the surface, destined to be bound by chains and tortured for all eternity as penance in a contract bound forevermore.
But as he wandered there, small and alone once again, he discovered a treasure--the pearl that once served as the heart of his beloved Eden, still warm but cracked and chipped from wear as it lay within their broken body. As the gates to The Pits closed for eternity, Chaos tearfully wrenched it from their breast, held his pearl aloft and begged one last time for mercy, not for him who would accept his suffering but for his paradise not yet lost. And just as his fate was sealed, the pearl was plucked from his hands and spirited far, far away from the Underworld; dropped into the vast ocean of the earth and sunk to the very bottom like a stone, Eden's restless spirit tugging at their shape to search vainly for their fallen husband. With time they settled in exhaustion, and for millennia they were left in the deep, dark coldness of the sea, the water and grit and current polishing them down, down, down until they became nothing but a handful of stardust glittering amongst the waves. And when time came, Creation returned to their side after rescuing them from death and scooped up what remained of Eden in their hands, lifted their palms to their lips, and blew that glittering stardust gently into a cloud that swirled and bound itself into a soul borne anew. With all but the smallest drop of immortal ichor remaining in their veins, Eden the valkyrie was rebirthed and given new life, all but that one drop and the same form they took remaining.
Some say that it was Creation's gift to their fallen brother who still endured endless torture in The Pits, growing larger century after century as his titan blood boils in rage and agony, his chains growing with him yet The Pits themselves eventually growing small in comparison to his enormity. Although close followers of Creation insist that their craft takes form regardless of any personal desire, as Creation itself is a god void of nearly all emotion. Either way, Eden supposedly walks the world in present day, void of memories of their past life and of their dear husband, of the life they once dreamed of and lived together in harmony. Some rumour that Chaos' eyes that were stolen long ago during his enchainment was to eliminate the possibility of him recognizing his newly-reincarnated spouse, for if he ever knew for certain that they live there would be no force that would keep him locked away a moment longer. But were they to be recovered and returned, if Eden themselves were to find their way back to the husband they never knew they lost, the world would undoubtedly witness the return of the most feared, most villainized god from myth and fairy tale alike, and would see firsthand the unbridled ecstasy and arrogance of Chaos claiming for good what he was willing to blight all existence for.

With classes starting up again just around the corner, here are some tips to make sure you have a great semester/year! 📓🦢🩷✏️
Tumblr media
🎀 Start by starting new. Think of this semester and school year as a fresh start - because that’s what it is! Let go of the past and turn over a new leaf. Really embrace the fact that this is a new school year! This can be mentally, psychically, and emotionally! I get more into it later on in this post!
🎀 Pick out your own school supplies!Having supplies you like really helps to keep you motivated. For example, most people forget to use their planners, but if you find a planner you really like, you’re more likely to keep up with using it! For my college girlies, I know many school supplies aren’t as necessary, but small things like cute notebooks, nice pens, and a laptop case can help with your entire vibe!
🎀 Before school starts, clean your room! This may be very obvious to some, but a clean room = clean mind. Make your space yours. Clean your room at home before moving into your dorm, too. You don’t want to come home over holiday breaks to a messy room! Keep up with cleaning your dorm to help make it a sacred space for yourself. Get organized! Make a system that works. Bring items with you that will make it a homey and comfortable space for you to be in! If you have roommates, I would recommend putting a cleaning schedule in place. For example, one week your roommate cleans the room, takes out the trash, etc. and the next week, you do the same. It becomes much easier to manage and you’ll come to find out that cleaning is very helpful and relaxing! I always found that my dorm rooms were such small spaces, there wasn’t much room for messes anyways. However my room did get quite dusty often and did require some vacuuming!
🎀 Don’t be afraid to romanticize your life. Your life is a tv show, and you are the main character! Confidence is key. Trust me, positivity and confidence are very attractive and more people will want to be around you if you radiate positivity! Sometimes it even helps to have a ‘Study like ____’ mindset. Think of a character that has passion and confidence in their studies, and kind of romanticize being like them (Hermione granger, Rory Gillmore, Elle Woods, Blair Waldorf). Looking these up on Pinterest really helps!
🎀 Put effort into your appearance & outfits! I always felt that if I look good, I feel good too. I know it’s very common to have motivation to dress nice in the start of a school year, but always seem to not be able to keep up with it past the first week. If you’re going to college, it helps to bring more options for nicer clothes and limit comfy clothes, which kind of forces you to wear more than sweats and a tshirt everyday. It helps to plan out your outfits the night before, or even the week before. If this feels like too much, you can start by picking one or two days out of the week to be a ‘dress-up’ day! I did this last year on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, which happened to be the days I had the most classes on. This really helped me to stay motivated and confident, and so I definitely recommend doing this! Along with that, this summer I’ve been really immersing myself in all types of makeup products, hair styles, and body care items, so I know which ones I should take back to school with me. Doing this makes me feel like I’m starting over brand new, on a clean slate as well. If you feel like you’re in need of a glow-up, this is definitely something to keep in mind! (Although you’re beautiful the way you are! Sometimes people just outgrow old habits!)
🎀 Make a vision board!!!! I really cannot stress this enough, but make a vision board! I made one at the beginning of the year, and mostly everything I put into it has come true! All of the things I had put on my vision board came true: I found a fun job, while it’s not going to be a life-long career for me, I’m still bringing money in for the time being. In 2023, I was in a really bad spot with friends, and now I have found amazing friends that I’m so grateful for! I got into a relationship, and even though it didn’t last and it wasn’t right for me, a relationship was something I had on my board that I had never done before. I get good grades at school, I have attended multiple concerts, and even went to the beach, which was all something I had on my board. I decided to make a new one for the fall semester of my school year, kind of so I could start fresh and just update it to where I’m at mentally now! Even if you did make one at the start of 2024, A lot has happened in the past eight months, so it’s always good to update it. Never stop visualizing things you want in life!
🎀 This one is definitely easier said than done, but really put yourself out there! !!!!GET INVOLVED!!!! Join clubs, volunteer, join sororities, join sports, make friends at the gym, go to parties, get involved with people from your major, make connections, get a campus job, reach out to professors (ask questions!), go to school organized events (even if they sound super boring!) even if it’s just leaving your dorm every night to go to the dining hall…be social!!!! I truly cannot stress this enough. I knew of people who never left their dorms, and they never made friends that way. They hated school and were miserable! College is supposed to be a time of self-discovery and finding your people, so go out and do just that! Go out of your comfort zone! If you’re entering your freshman year, nobody knows who you are, so you need to make that name for yourself! This might seem like a lot of pressure to handle, but it’s really not. Everyone is in the same boat, they’re all looking for friends. Making friends and connections really helps your year go by so much easier and quicker.
🎀 AVOID DRAMA AT ALL COSTS. Drama is so middle school! Ew! Really, in the long run of things, drama has no effect on you whatsoever. If you’re in college, it’s time for you to mature from the high school drama mindset. I learned this the hard way, and I surrounded myself with people who hadn’t grown from that yet. They incorporated drama into everything we did, and it was so draining. I eventually got away from them, and it was so worth it! You already have so much on your plate with your studies, no one really has time to deal with silly drama. It’s only going to give you unnecessary stress and distract you from what’s really important! No one has time or energy for that! Focus on yourself and what you need!
🎀 Create a routine and STICK TO IT!!! The first 1-2 weeks of a new year can always be difficult, but once you have that new schedule down, that’s when it gets easier. Create a routine for yourself that incorporates all your classes, study time, meals, self care time, and social time and anything else you want to accomplish, and you’re set! Don’t be afraid to hold yourself accountable! ♡
🎀 Make time for yourself. Don’t overextend yourself trying to do things for others. This is your life, so do things for you! Always set aside a specific amount of time each day for you to be alone with yourself and your thoughts. Try not to be on your phone either. Try to be completely unplugged. Maybe try journaling, doing some self care, crafting, or doing any hobby that you enjoy! Being okay with being alone is what one needs!
I may think of more things to come, but for now this is what comes to mind immediately. You can ask me any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them ♡

A Story of Another Us- Chapter Three
Tumblr media
Metal cutlery scraping off the China plates did little to drown out the laughter that filled the kitchen. Everyone crowded around the small table enjoying the company and the Zucchini and sausage casserole that Alicent had made from scratch for them. The mood was light as the stories flowed between them all.
‘So then Hel figures that I would love to be woken up to see the new spider she had caught and shoved the thing right in my face’ Aegon grinned, Haelena giggling uncontrollably at the memory.
‘You screamed like a little girl’ She added, holding her stomach from laughing.
‘Don’t worry Aegon I’ve been there too, every little insect in our dorm needs to be thoroughly inspected and cared for’ Dahlia chuckled, loving to see how their family enjoyed each other’s company.
Everyone had been sharing old stories and good times, everyone but Aemond. He had offered a few small smiles to stories that involved him or a quiet hum of acknowledgement but nothing more. Though Dahlia had avoided his direction purposely for the majority of the evening she had caught his eye line a few times. His bright iris’ staring back at her own, only for a second before one of them would look away uncomfortably. She couldn’t tell what he was thinking and it annoyed the hell out of her, his face was so unreadable.
‘Goodnight sweetheart’ Alicent smiled as Aemond stood, placing his plate in the dishwasher and heading for the door.
‘Night’ he mumbled, disappearing out of the room.
‘I’m gonna head up too’ Aegon yawned, stretching in his chair.
‘Not a chance, it’s your turn to load the dishwasher’ Haelena grinned, stopping her brother from standing up with a death grip on his arm.
While Aegon wallowed in self-pity of having to help tidy, Dahlia put the leftovers in the fridge and retreated to bed herself, a nice hot shower awaiting her. She had made sure everything was ready waiting for her, soap shampoo, nice dry clothes. All she needed was a towel and Haelena had told her there was some fresh cotton towels in the airing cupboard outside of her room. The thing Haelena had failed to mention was that they were on the top shelf, even on her tip toes she had no chance. As she rested her neck back on her shoulders looking up at the fabric she almost debated trying to scale the side of the cupboard, that was until the door at the other end of the landing opened, catching her attention.
Without saying a word Aemond walked out of his room, in nothing but a pair of gym shorts. His toned torso was only made all the more graceful by his pale complexion. She had noticed how tall and broad he was but underneath all the layers he wore she hadn’t seen any sign of his abs or larger muscular arms. He walked right up to her and leant up over her, grabbing a thick towel of the shelf and holding it out to her. A mix of cologne and shower gel radiated off his skin into her nose, the smell so heavenly she almost rolled her eyes back. She hadn’t realised how obvious she had been staring until Aemond cleared his throat, snapping her out of her daze and bringing a hot deep blush onto her cheeks.
‘Thanks’ she mumbled quietly, rushing back into her room and shutting the door in embarrassment and missing this little smirk that pulled at Aemond’s mouth.
The hot shower did nothing to flush the feeling of humiliation from her body, she may as well have been drooling over him. Just because he had a nice body did not make him any less of an asshole. Hair washed and body scrubbed Dahlia left the steam filled en-suite and sat on her bed platting her unbrushed locks, playing the words Alicent had said to her over and over. There was a job here if she wanted it, was she being serious when she had said that or was she just filling her head with hope to be ‘nice’? Dahlia had dreamed of a life where she could live and work on a farm, somewhere she could care for the animals and make a difference. She wanted it so badly; she deserved it after all of the hard work she had put in but she dare not let herself believe that it could be that easy for her. Nothing was ever that easy. She could still imagine though, she climbed under the covers and played that life out in her head, how it would feel to wake up here every morning. After drifting off with that wonderful scene in her head it was almost like a dream walking up.
Not wanting to risk getting lost in a new area Dahlia had passed on her morning run the day before but after three homemade meals already she felt she needed it. Alicent’s cooking had her waddling from the table every time, she wasn’t used to eating so well, usually settling for microwave meals or ordering from the takeaway diner that was on the corner opposite her dorm building. She had been almost giddy to slip on her running shoes and large hoodie before leaving the front door and starting off on a slow-paced walk for her warmup. She took a right off the Ranch and figured she would do a loop at whatever junctions she came across, helping Aegon and Haelena out in the fields the day before had helped her navigate the surrounding fields a little easier.
The fresh country air was just the wake up call she needed, the cool breeze and the sounds of nature almost cleansed her. Dahlia’s mind wandered through many things on her morning runs, from what brand of steel toe cap wellies could take the weigh of a cows hoof the best, to what the first home made meal was going to be when she got her own house. Today however her mind was packed with images of Aemond walking down that hallway towards her, topless and toned. How his muscles moved with every step he took towards her, how his long her had hung over his shoulders resting against his chest. She wondered what his chest would feel like under her hands, on her back… against her lips.
Shaking her head she cleared her mind, she couldn’t think of him like that, he was her best friend’s brother. He was off limits to her and her train of thought, him and his stupidly perfect body. Dahlia winced a little looking down her running shoes that were now covered in mud where they had once been pristine white.
She passed fields full with cows and sheep and some even just packed with hay. A few stray rabbits ran across the road a few feet in front of her and she even saw a small fox heading back to its burrow, it was like being in a fairy tale with nature all around her. Dahlia never wanted to leave; she could happily spend the rest of her life on that farm. Before she knew it Dahlia was walking past a familiar field back towards the entrance of Dragonstone ranch, the sun almost fully of the horizon now. As she passed the field a small cry caught her ear, Dahlia stopped and listened for it again. She followed it over to the other side of the road and there stuck in the small trench between the road and the field was a small calf. The cow looked up at her and cried again for help, it’s mother stood not far mooing at her too, Dahlia knew she had no chance of moving the poor thing by herself and she was going to need some help so off she took on a jog again back towards the farm. Running through the entrance and towards the stable, straight to the only person she knew would be awake.
Aemond was gently brushing over a large black stallion when she walked into the door, breathing heavily from her fast-paced pursuit of him.
‘Hey… I need your help… there’s… there’s a calf stuck’ She struggled to get out with her heavy breathing.
Aemond just looked at her like she was a crazy person, her hair all frizzy and fraying out of her braids, her chest heaving and her feet all muddy.
‘I’ll show you’ she resorted to after a moment of silence.
Not sure of whether he would follow her or not she walked out of the barn and back towards the entrance of the field. Happy to see that he was trailing behind her, Dahlia led him over the grass and past the herd of cows that had grouped together grazing at the far fence. She heard him grumble something as he avoids a cow pat and she chuckled a little looking back at him.
‘Why don’t you like cows? They’re so gentle’ she smiles over her shoulder at him, trying to lighten the heavy mood between them.
‘They are useless shit stinking holes’ he replied disregarding her attempt at some light conversation.
Dahlia stopped at the edge of the field right where the barbed wire fence had split and allowed the cow to get stuck. Aemond looked over at the animal and shook his head.
‘Example A’ he huffed
‘We need to lift her out I can grab the back an-‘ Dahlia began  as she rolled up her sleeve, ready to jump down into the ditch.
‘We’re not gonna be able to lift her she’ll be to heavy’ Aemond sighed, turning on his feet and beginning back across the grass.
‘So what? We just leave her down there?!’ Dahlia asked, shocked that he was so dismissive of the situation.
‘Yeah for my lazy ass brother to deal with’ he yelled back over his shoulder.
‘We can’t just leave her Aemond’
‘Hey I deal with the horses okay! Aegon handles this shit’ Aemond turned abruptly, emphasizing his words by pointing at the calf aggressively.
‘I am getting this calf back up to its mother with or without your help! And it would be a hell of a lot easier with’ Dahlia shouted back angrily, sitting herself on the ledge of earth and jumping down next to the calf.
She tried to sooth the frightened animal next to her with a gentle hand on it’s back. For a moment she had thought Aemond had actually walked away and left her to handle it on her own. Her blood boiled at how thoughtless he was being, how he would happily leave this poor baby alone and scared crying for its mother.
‘Sshh it’s okay, I’m gonna get you back up there little one’ Dahlia soothed her.
At the sound of her gentle voice Aemond stopped in his tracks of walking away from her, huffing he threw his head back onto his shoulders and looked up at the cloudy sky. She was incredibly annoying and irritating but if he didn’t go back over there and help her with this stupid cow, he would never hear the end of it. Sighing heavily Aemond turned himself around and jumped down next to her in the trench, ignoring the face splitting grin she offered him.
‘You can grab its ass, if it’s gonna shit on anyone it’s not gonna be me’ he growled.
Aemond wrapped his arms underneath the calf and watched Dahlia do the same on the other side towards the back of the calf. On his count of three they both lifted the shockingly heavy animal, Aemond using all his upper body strength to lift its front end higher until it had its front hooves planted on the grass. The calf took off running across the grass towards its mother, its hind leg kicking out and catching Dahlia in the chest. She grimaced heavily trying her hardest to not let Aemond see, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of thinking he might have been right. It was to no avail however, Aemond had lifted himself out of the ditch and leant down offering her his left hand, she had no choice but to give him hers and left him help her out. The pull of his arm on hers made her wince heavily and let out a little cry, Dahlia ignored Aemond’s worried look when she was safely on her feet. Her hand moved to hold her collarbone as it burnt with pain.
Aemond moved her hand and gently pulled her hoodie down enough for him to look down at the already forming bruise on her chest. His eyes shot to hers and Dahlia darted hers away from him.
‘I told you we should have waited!’ he grumbled at her letting go of her hoodie.
‘I’m fine’ she huffed back looking over at the calf.
‘It could have broken your collarbone!’ Aemond raised his voice slightly.
‘Yeah but look at how happy they are now!’ Dahlia disarmed him completely giving him a small smile and nodding over at where the young calf was nuzzling against its mother.
Aemond huffed and began walking away from her, Dahlia chuckled and followed him, loving how much she got to him. Aemond complained about the state of their clothes now that they were covered in mud and how he was going to kill Aegon for being a lazy prick and sleeping in. Dahlia let him grumble to himself as he plodded back towards the stables, she slipped off her shoes and left them outside the doors to the kitchen not wanting to trapse mud into the house.
Once Dahlia had changed and brushed out her hair she returned back downstairs, heading into the kitchen with her dirty clothes in hand. Haelena and Alicent were stood making breakfast for everyone, Jace, Luke and their girlfriends sat around that table, all still looking groggy from sleep.
‘Hey, how you feeling this morning?’ Haelena smiled, noticing the presence of her best friend.
‘Good! Erm is it okay if I use the washing machine?’ she asked politely.
‘Of course, it’s just through there with the dryer’ Alicent directed her, flipping the bacon over in the frying pan.
Dahlia moved into the laundry room and threw her muddy clothes into the machine with a washing pod and shut the door. As she was setting the machine, she heard the kitchen doors slide open and Aemond’s voice sounding through the room.
‘Where’s Aegon?’ he questioned.
‘He’s getting dressed to go to the wholesalers for me… what the hell happened to you?’ Alicent asked slightly shocked at his muddy appearance.
‘Ask genius here’ he griped as Dahlia appeared at his side from the laundry room.
They all looked at her in question to which Dahlia gave an awkward smile and moved to sit at the table.
‘There was a calf stuck in one of the trenches by the junction so I asked Aemond for help lifting it out’ she informed them nonchalantly.
‘You lifted a cow?!’ Luke asked stunned.
‘It was a baby’ she protested.
‘A baby that almost broke your collar bone! Take them for the pain’ Aemond added, tossing a small bottle of pain killers at her.
‘What?!’ Haelena asked panicked, immediately dropped the serving spoon she had hold of and moving over to inspect her best friend.
‘Hel I’m fine it’s a little bruise’ Dahlia dismissed her, waving her off.
‘What happened?’ Alicent questioned concerned.
‘Little twat kicked out when we lifted it and caught her in the chest’ Aemond informed his mother before exiting the room and heading up the stairs.
Dahlia threw him a look of annoyance on his way out as she had Haelena and Alicent trying to inspect the dark growing bruise on her chest.

“Have you ever noticed that mr bluck, never blows his nose? He just sniffs into his mic.” The voice came from next to you, taking your focus from your notes. You turn your head to a tall, keen boy, who’s placing his belongings down and going through his bag. He hasn’t looked at you but you know his statement was directed towards you. He’s been out for a while, so his presence shocked you. Especially since you two have never actually talked.
“What?” you question. Peering at him with the most confused face you could muster up. “Mr bluck? Our professor?” he reminds with a soft chuckle.
“No right, yeah, but… why bring it up?”
You realize a little to late that your words may have come off a bit offensive.
If they did, he wasn’t showing it on his face. “Just wanna make conversation.” He finished unpacking his things before turning his body towards you fully. “I cringe every time I hear him swallow his boogers-“ “-ew” you make an face that causes him to laugh. You shake your head, in attempt to redirect your mind back to the boy.
“Sorry, it was not my intention to put that image into your head” he continues to laugh at when your noes scrunches and your eyes narrow towards the professor, who’s taking a sip of his coffee. You both laugh in unison, causing other students to glare at you two.
“So since I’ve made you laugh, you’ll help me catch up on the week I’ve missed?”
“oh Is that what this is? Just needed the notes?” You ask teasingly, hoping he doesn’t think you’re actually offended. “No, not at all. I’ve been wanting to talk to you for a while, I just finally had an excuse” he corrected, shrugging his shoulders, trying to act nonchalant. You watch as he looks away to open his laptop. And to hide his face from you.
“A while? How long is a while?” You ask, now turning your whole body to face him.
“Since you cursed that kid out in the beginning of the semester” he logs into his computer and turns back to you.
“That long?” You hold an exaggerated face.
“That long.” he confirms with a smile.
You to stare at each other for a moment. The silence was about to get awkward when he broke it.
“I have an idea”
“Really what’s that?” You peak at the clock, noting class was about to begin, you keep your attention directed towards him while opening your own laptop. “Me and my Friends have a study night every Wednesday, you should come, and you could catch me up on the book and notes there.”
“No way! I don’t even know your name, how do I know your not a serial killer?” You expressed, bringing your knees up to your chest in ‘fear’. He rolls his eyes and chuckles. You watch him ponder for a moment, but he keeps his gaze on you. “My names Jeno, and If I promise not to kill you, would you come?”
Jeno
Jeno
It’s your turn to ponder. He’s definitely not a serial killer, and he seems nice…
“Pinky promise?” You tease once agaIn. Earning another laugh from him. “Pinky promise” he holds his pinky out towards you and you giggle. Placing your feet back to the ground, leaning forward to seal the deal. “Can you give me your number? I’ll text you the details” he suggested with his finger still intertwined with yours.
“Sure” you wear a bright smile on your face, it was contagious. The sun from outside was making him feel warmer then he already was. it almost felt like he was in a movie, or a book written by some lonely 22 year old. He leans back in his chair after you added your number to his phone.
You two make small talk the rest of the lecture and he was glad he finally found the courage to talk to you. What was he so scared of anyway?
•••
You triple checked the dorm number before knocking. Your bag in hand and your nicest comfortable clothes on your back. Your not sweating because your nervous, it’s definitely just because it’s hot in the mens building.
When the door opens you look to find a different boy then the one you saw in class. But you know this boy, your friends with him, you were surprised to see a friends face at the door.
Not jeno. But Johnny.
“Hey! Y/n? What the heck are you doing here?”
He questions. “Me? What are you doing here, this isn’t your dorm” you fire back. You drop your shoulders, now feeling more relaxed to see a familiar face. “Yeah? Well this isn’t your building!” He argues but his face full of playfulness. “Wait are you… the girl Jeno invited from his class? I didn’t know it was YOU” he makes a face, and you roll your eyes, failing to bite back a smile.
“Ha, and I didn’t know you study” you point to his chest. “I’ll have you know-“
“-hey! Y/n you made it!” Johnny turns to jeno behind him. “Do you two know each other?” He asks, looking between you two, your finger still at Johnny’s chest. “We’re family friends” Johnny answered, finally moving to the side to allow you into the dorm. “Oh really? Well I’m glad you’re already familiar with somone in the group” jeno smiles to you and you reciprocate.
“Yejuns here too” you hear Johnny inform from behind you, as you make your way into the hallway.
•••
He was glad you where here, he really was. But he hated that your eyes were trained into Haechan after introducing everyone. You barley even talked to him, you just watched him and looked at him. Even laughing at all his jokes.
He wasn’t jealous
No
He just wanted to study… yeah… yeah just that.
•••
He’s not bothered when Haechan told Jeno that he likes her after everyone left.
He’s doesn’t care that you two started spending a lot of time together. Even if it seemed like you two where always arguing, he could see the way you two look at each other.
He’s happy for you two, not jealous. Jeno doesn’t like you like that- does he?
It doesn’t matter because it’s obvious that you feel the same way about haechan, as he does about you. So for now he will remain your friend. That’s what he wanted anyway. Just to be your friend…

She's Perfect But You're Mine
Tumblr media
Summary:
Killian has a girlfriend. Emma handles it with the utmost maturity and grace.
Or not.
Ao3
-
Damn you, rum, was the first thought that came to Emma’s mind when she woke up, her hair tousled, wearing the inner parts of yesterday’s outfit, and already feeling angry clouds of an impending hangover. She couldn’t be more pathetic, she thought, right before noticing a thin line of saliva adorning her pillow.
Outstanding.
Why did the alcohol gods punish her so harshly? She was rightfully celebrating catching her latest skip, Felix the Fiend -Felix the Fucker if you ask her- with her friends. Her group was a patchwork of people led by her employers, the charmingly dubbed, the Charmings. The only thing that made her move, very reluctantly and slowly, from the bed, was the thought of teasing Killian. He missed her singing, or rather murdering, Michael Jackson’s Beat It. Her performance in the club was Billboard Hot 100 calibre, but her roommate skipped the whole thing for mysterious reasons.
As she rounded the corner, overlooking their kitchen, his reasons were mysterious no more. In fact, judging from the adoring looks the small brunette was giving him over eggs and bacon, his reasons became painfully obvious.
Snuggling against each other, the pair hadn’t seen her approaching. Emma had a few seconds to have a massive internal freak out over the perfect picture they made, straight from a Folgers breakfast ad.
“Swan, good morning. You’re looking particularly fresh at this early hour, if I may say,” Killian said cheerfully, totally unaware of the absurdity of the scene. It’s not that Killian didn’t have girls over, his stubble and rosy cheeks were more successful than a dog with the ladies. A scarcely clad, tousled hair girl in their kitchen wasn’t out of the ordinary. The thing is, he never had breakfast with them.
Just when she thought she couldn’t be any more surprised, the real bomb fell.
“Emma, this is my Belle, my girlfriend."
Motherfucker.
A few things had scarred her college life, catching Ruby with -and on- the TA in her Bug, spilling scalding cocoa all over Elsa’s lab coat, finding out Neal had a girlfriend, one besides herself. Her meeting Killian, knocking on his dorm door to stop him from singing “We are the Champions”, loudly, for the twelfth time, out of tune, didn’t even make the top ten. She therefore had a difficult time explaining to herself why this stupid , ill advised crush she had on her roommate wouldn’t go away.
After that day, he’d done it on purpose. Playing his guitar at full volume to taunt her -this arrogant bastard-, going so far as to play Two Doors Down , in every annoying voice he could muster. “So Emma, what do you say,” he’d teased, as his hand had left the door handle and joined the other one in the guitar, “let me take you home tonight.”
And thus began a friendship, but dammit that was almost a decade ago, including a two-year old cohabiting arrangement. Her ill-advised crush on her roommate should have been over by now.
“So, Belle,” he started as Belle leaned further into him, tickling his beard, “this is Emma Swan, my friend and roommate.”
The brunette extended her hand gracefully while maintaining eye contact. Her green eyes appeared for all intents and purposes, honest and excited.
“Emma Swan,” Emma supplied redundantly. Nice way to make a good first impression, so smooth, Emma.
“I’m so glad to finally meet you, Emma. I couldn’t believe you talked him into watching the Princess Bride. I’m a fool for those Westley types,” Belle explained while patting Killian’s chest. His pointed, and adorable ears were quickly dusted with a shade of red.
“Who isn’t?” Emma asked and smiled the best as she could, wondering if this was normal or if her awkwardness was cruelly evident.
“That’s true, but it’s also what sold me on this guy. Quoting the movie in real time? My prince!” she says, cupping Killian’s chin while he gives her his most charming smile. The lopsided one, with a hint of teeth. The charming fucker.
They make such a disney couple, Emma waits for blue little birds to start chirping around them. The sight is so perfect, it makes her want to puke through her eyes.
“Ha. Yes.” she shuffles around them and grabs the cup with the painted swans. It's tall and the porcelain handle is broken, leaving her to grab it with both of her hands, even if the inside is scalding. Killian calls it her “chalice”. He gives names to everything, it’s an inside joke. They haven’t shared one for some time.
With her -tense- back towards them, she hears Killian speak to her. “Would it be okay with you if Belle stayed with us for a few days? Her plumbing is out."
She swivels and faces them, willing her eyes not to bulge.
"I hope I'm not in the way. You won't even notice I'm here", Emma highly doubts that, with Killian choosing this moment to tighten the arm around her waist. "I can bake too, Killian tells me you have a sweet tooth".
She's never rejected baked goods in her life, but even the biggest chocolate chip cake can't wash away the bitterness in her mouth.
"And I want to get to know you. We can be friends".
They're both looking at her expectantly as seconds go by and she doesn't speak.
It's then where Killian employs his tactic to make her open up, the one that got her to share about her sordid past, the ex still haunting her dreams and her inner, most genuine need for family. He holds her eyes and speaks softly.
"Love?"
At this second two things happen: Belle opens her mouth to answer, then closes it, squinting her meticulously shaped eyebrows at him.
And Emma hears that word and pain washes over her, realising it won't be aimed at her, not in the way she wants deep inside.
Her answer is drowned by excited screams. As she recounts to Ruby later that day over a couple -dozens- of beers, she just killed her chances with Killian once and for all.
That cake better be worth it.

mission accomplished [ scaramouche x reader ]
seventeen | everything has changed
prev masterlist next
yun jin did not hesitate to drag you practically everywhere to look for the perfect attire for the grad ball once you were finally out, and you had just about the mind to curse her, if it weren't for the way you'd be witnessing this side of scaramouche. (or when you realise just how much has changed)
warnings: fluff but not so very fluffy i guess, reader tries out a dress
a/n: annddd chap 17 is here! very sorry for the delay, i had no idea on how to start this chapter (i still don't) and this one feels more like a filler chapter to me. title is very much inspired by the song by taylor swift and ed sheeran. happy reading!
NOTE!! the dress' designs and colour is up to your interpretation!!! though i really just needed an excuse to not work my brain to describe the dress lmao. but aside from that, i want it to be your own imagination, it's up to your creativity as to how you want the dress to look like^^
grammatical errors may occur so please let me know if i've made any mistakes!
Tumblr media
oh, goodness.
this is it.
this is gonna be the death of you.
“this will be the last one, i promise!” yun jin pleaded as she dragged you to yet another boutique store, looking for the perfect attire to wear for the grad ball.
you groaned. “yun jin, you said that 4 stops ago...”
“come on, i'm sure this is the place!” she insisted, emphasising the word ‘the’.
the chime of a bell rang on the door of the store as you walked in with yun jin, much to your distaste.
it has only been the first day since you've finally got out of your insufferable dormitory, and you're already being dragged everywhere by your friend.
it's a punishment for being absent and not showing up to classes for a whole week, as yun jin had said when she demanded you to come with her to look for something.
well, the something was revealed, and it's one of the worst things to shop for.
a dress.
“look, i told you a bunch of times that i don't need one, i'm not really into them.” you fought. “besides, i have my old one, that'll just do.”
yun jin glared at you, her arm still linked with yours. “nonsense! you showed me it when i picked you up at your dorm, it's... i'm sorry to say this but it... it was absolutely atrocious!” she sputtered, dragging you deeper in the store to look at some dresses on display.
you can't completely disagree with her. the dress you had, the only one you had, was at least 4 years old, and it was the most hideous thing to ever exist. you have no idea why it's still living in your closet.
but can you even blame yourself? you barely wear these kind of outfits, and given how you're working full-time at a tedious job, you never have the time to attend such grand events, hence why you don't have any formal dresses in the first place.
“hello, ladies. how can i help you today?” a woman's voice popped up, making the both of you turn your heads to the direction of where it came from. there was a lady, around her mid 30's you assumed, standing by the counter. a nice smile adorned her face as she approached you two.
yun jin grinned beside you. “hi! we're looking for dresses, but she's the more important one.” she said, pointing her finger at you. “she desperately needs one.”
you rolled your eyes. “i do not.”
“ah, you've come to just the right place. i think i have one that'll suit your friend pretty well.” the young woman replied. “i'll be right back.”
as the woman left, you had time to observe your surroundings. it was a pretty small store, with some nice dresses on display, but none of them were to your liking. you don't even need one in the first place.
to you, another one of these events are just a waste of time. back when you were still a student, you barely paid any mind to anything that is not related to your studies.
it benefited you a lot, you think. if it weren't for your excellent academic results, you wouldn't be standing here today, going undercover for a big case, and working for the one and only prestigious precint in teyvat.
you suddenly remembered that halloween was coming up when you caught glimpse of orange decorations, with little pumpkins and skeletons scattered throughout the boutique.
it's crazy how time flies so fast.
if memory serves you right, it was only the very beginning of autumn when you first started this case, and now october is already ending, thus the breezy season will end soon too.
halloween was always one of the big celebrations, and since it was the day after the graduation ball, students would have a great time celebrating both halloween and the ball. you're not exactly a big fan of either, so the event will go either really great, or really bad for you.
it's already going bad.
“don't you think these look nice?” yun jin asked, browsing through the dresses on display. she had long abandoned your arm that she was clinging on earlier, now going over every single dress there is in store instead.
some were colourful, and some were shiny, and the others were just pretty much plain. you won't deny that they all look great, but it's just really not your style. “they're okay, i guess.”
you ignored yun jin's huffing and her telling you off on how you're missing out as thoughts were clouding your little mind.
it had been a week since james' death.
you still haven't figured out who took his life, nor do you know about the culprit who cut off the news right before your cover would get blown.
it's ironic to you. as being one of the top detectives in the precint, surely it would've only taken you just a day or two to unfold the mystery. yet, it was already over a week, and you still haven't gotten a single clue.
it wasn't entirely your fault (as you had reassured yourself a bunch of times during sleepless nights), there was hardly any evidence and leads that could round up the case. this was also not your crime to solve, you already have another one going on at the moment.
the only thing that doesn't add up is how childe and arlecchino hadn't updated you anything regarding viktor during the trial. supposedly, they were assigned by the tsaritsa to watch over him while you and scaramouche were involved at teyvat court. but ever since you left the campus, you didn't get any updates about it.
it was when childe called you to inform you of james' death was the only time he had updated you about anything, and it wasn't even about viktor. ever since then, childe hadn't contacted you at all. not even a call, not even a message, just pure silence.
“hellooo? earth to luna?”
you turned your head towards yun jin as you heard the fake name rolled off her tongue, your thoughts slowly dissipating. “hm?”
“finally, took you long enough to pay attention to the real world.” she complained, pouting as she does so. “the worker said she's found a great dress for you, it's in the fitting room.”
groaning, you tried leaving the store before yun jin pulled you back immediately. “come onn!!! i never agreed to any of this, yun jin! spare me, please...” you pleaded, though your begging fell on deaf ears as she dragged you to the fitting room a few feet away.
“just try it on, you dummy!” yun jin retorted, pushing you in one of the fitting rooms. “it won't hurt to see you in one, now off you go!”
you huffed, staring at the now, closed door as you silently cursed yourself for even agreeing to go out with yun jin today. who would've thought she'd be dragging you everywhere in town...
Tumblr media
“yun jin? you there?”
it was silent for a few seconds, before you heard footsteps running to your fitting room. “i'm here, i'm here!” she said through heavy breaths, for whatever reason she bolted for you, you won't even pry.
“um... i'm done, i think. you'll have to help me with the zipper on my back, though.”
unlocking the door, you let the joyful yun jin in, who immediately opened the door once it was unlocked, getting in the fitting room with you.
yun jin stared at you, completely in awe of you, making you avert your gaze from her. “don't look at me like that.”
“oh wow, you look so... hot.” yun jin gaped at you, making you even more embarrassed at the sudden attention and compliment. it was just a single compliment, yet it does wonders on you. it's not everyday that you'd get such compliments.
rolling your eyes, you turned your back to her. “let's just get this over with.” you said, pointing out to the unzipped zipper on your back that you couldn't reach.
yun jin hummed, and got to work. as she does so, you looked at yourself through the long and big mirror in front of you.
you won't deny that you look absolutely alluring right now, the gorgeous dress fitting your body just perfectly. maybe it does feel nice, you think. dresses were something that you really weren't into, the feminine attire always only looking good to those that are confident in themselves. you weren't exactly someone who fits the criteria.
you looked at yourself again.
maybe you should really stop worrying about everything. enjoying being in a dazzling outfit once in a while won't hurt.
your phone rang.
“oh, yun jin, can you help me get my phone?”
she nodded, stopping her actions to retrieve the phone near her. “here, um... scara's calling.” she informed confusedly, the unrecognisable name displayed on your screen.
widening your eyes, you quickly took the phone from her hands and answered it, not minding the way yun jin scratched her head at your sudden panic.
“hey there! what's up?”
“you sound too excited for someone who just got out of their dorm after a week.” scaramouche said flatly, in which you responded with an awkward chuckle. “where're you right now?”
you looked at yun jin for a moment, who was still fixing you up. “i'm at town, yun jin brought me here to look for dresses for that event we're having this weekend.”
“oh?” he inquired amusedly. “this is the first time i'm hearing you're out for outfits.”
you scoffed. “don't blame me, she was the one who practically dragged me everywhere to look for one, and now i'm stuck at this fitting room.”
“you're trying out a dress right now?”
“well, i'm almost done, yun jin's just fixing me up.”
the other line was silent for a moment.
“hello? you okay there?” you asked, weirded out on why he's suddenly so quiet.
if you listened closely, you could still hear his ragged breaths, resulting in you being more confused.
“um, yeah, i'm fine.” he finally spoke. “i'll see you later.” he said, hanging up the call instantly.
you raised a brow as you brought your phone to your view to see that the call had ended. “weird, acting so strange for no reason...” you mumbled.
“who's that? your boyfriend?” yun jin asked from behind you. completely forgotten that she was even there, you jolted and had almost dropped your phone on the pristine tiles.
you let out a breath of relief when you've finally come down from your panic, resting a hand on your chest. “archons, i forgot you were here for a second there.”
“that's what you get for calling your boyfriend in the middle of trying your outfit on.” she shrugged. “well, you're all done!” yun jin beamed, putting both of her hands on your shoulders from behind.
you turned over your shoulder to look at her. “he– he's not my boyfriend!” you fought. “he's just... just someone!”
yun jin paid no mind to your childish behaviour, bringing one hand up to your face, tilting it to the front so that you'd be looking at the mirror instead of her. “shut up and look at yourself for one second. don't you look nice?”
you paused. “well, i don't really know–”
“try again.”
“but–”
“no buts! i need to hear you compliment yourself, right here and right now.”
you groaned. she really won't budge until she get what she wants. “...fine. i look okay, i guess.” you muttered defeatedly.
the young woman behind you looked at you through the mirror, and you fixate your eyes on hers in return. she had an expectant look, one brow arched as if she was still not satisfied with your sentence. she pinched your forearm out of the blue, making you let out a yelp.
“ow– o-okay fine! i look really pretty! stop pinching me, that freaking hurts!” you tried prying her hand off while doing so, and she finally did after a moment.
yun jin smiled, clasping her hands. “there you go! see? not that hard to praise yourself.” she commented. “you shoud start doing that more often, positivity is the key to happiness.” you internally cringed to yourself as she said that corny quote.
“that's so cheesy, please never do that again.”
yun jin pinched your foream once again.
“ow, ow– i'm sorry!”
she retracted her hand. “that's what i thought.”
Tumblr media
“hey, i'm back.”
the dorm was fairly quiet for the night. it was well past 10, and the only thing that brightened up the small living room was the tv that was switched on. you didn't get a response from the ravenette, so you searched through the dark room from the front door.
your eyes landed on his figure on the couch, and to you, it seemed like he was asleep. as you slowly approached him, you realised that he was, in fact, not asleep, though it looked like he had been fighting to stay up for a while now.
nudging his shoulder, he immediately opened his eyes, gazing up at you. “oh, you're finally back. what time is it?” he yawned, bringing up a hand to cover his mouth.
“almost 11. why are you still awake? you should be in bed by now, it's pretty late.” you said, raising a brow at him.
he shrugged, taking his eyes off yours to look at the tv in front of him instead. “wanted to wait for you.”
you rolled your eyes, sitting down on the couch beside him. “you don't need to do that, scara. i'm capable of taking care of myself.”
“what took you so long?” scaramouche inquired, completely ignoring your previous comment.
huffing, you leaned back on the couch. “yun jin continued on dragging me until the evening, and since it was already late by the time we were done, she treated me with dinner as compensation for accompanying her the whole day.” you explained. “aren't you tired? just go to bed, you keep yawning ever since i got back.”
scaramouche yawned once again in response, much to your dismay. “'m fine, i'll sleep once you're settled.”
you turned to look at him.
he was still trying his best to stay awake, fighting away the urge to sleep by staring at the tv screen, as if that'll help him at all. it was kinda cute, you think. he was doing all of this just to wait for you to come back, it was absolutely adorable of him.
what?
adorable? are you insane? that characteristic does not suit him at all, he was far from adorable, he is anything but adorable. how did you even come to the conclusion that he was cute?
you're supposed to hate him, not admiring him while he stayed up just to wait for you.
wait.
he stayed up just for you?
you, whom he hates the most. you, whom he would insult every chance he gets. and you, whom he swore to never, ever, get close to.
the cogs in your brain started running, and when you realised that he actually fought his sleep just to wait for your presence, you widened your eyes, suddenly flustered at the mere thought of him being nice for once, towards you at that.
to hide the rising flush on your face, you turned away from his view— if he was even aware in the first place, and turned your head to the opposite direction whilst covering your face with your hands, embarrassment slowly creeping up on you.
what in the world is happening? and why is your heart suddenly running laps for no reason?
your thoughts were interrupted when you felt something land on your shoulder. turning to look at what it is, turned out to be scaramouche, who was now asleep.
he was barely leaning on your shoulder, yet he looked so peaceful right now. you wanted to curse yourself for being the reason he fought to stay awake, and at the same time you wanted congratulate yourself for doing so, as you wouldn't be witnessing this right now if it weren't for everything.
you merely smiled at the thought, and lazily brought up a hand to brush off the stray strands of hair on his face. you haven't seen him being this peaceful before, hell, you haven't even seen him being so trustful of someone for him to mindlessly sleep beside them, especially to the likes of you.
it's funny how you two got this far.
if you remembered correctly, it was only a few months ago when the both of you couldn't even stand being in the same room together, let alone work on an undercover case where you'd be stuck for months end.
but now, it seemed like the two of you had changed a lot. the way scaramouche is leaning on you while sleeping was the only explanation needed to prove your inference.
maybe it is what people say.
you both just need a little push to get somewhere.

Against All Odds
Part 795
McCoy
They had finished their packing the night before. McCoy knew there were a couple places in the school he wanted to spend a few last minutes with Scotty at and he didn’t want to be caught up after the ceremony and the lunch with having to finish packing. The last few things had been tossed in their trunks that morning after they got dressed and were sitting ready to go when it was time to leave.
As they finished eating McCoy couldn’t help but glance at Scotty. They had really finished and were ready to move on. As Scotty set his fork down, McCoy pushed his own plate away.
“Come with me,” he leaned over and whispered.
Scotty looked at him confused.
“Excuse us,” McCoy said, looking at the king and standing up.
“Don’t be too long Leonard,” David said with a nod of his head.
“We won’t,” McCoy promised.
“Where are we going?” Scotty whispered as they made their way between tables and out of the hall.
McCoy reached for Scotty’s hand and led him through the short cross hallway near the library. He stopped near an old picture.
“We had our first real conversation here,” he said. “You didn’t want to show me around,” McCoy grinned.
“Oi, ye know that’s not true!” Scotty protested.
“I know leannan,” McCoy laughed lightly. “You were worried for me. But I’m glad you said yes.” He used Scotty’s hand in his to pull him close.
“I’m glad I said yes too,” Scotty murmured as their lips met.
“Come on,” McCoy said when they broke apart. He gave Scotty’s hand a tug.
“Now where?” Scotty chuckled.
“I want one last moment with you in our spot.”
They were quiet as they walked to the library and their familiar place behind the bookshelves. They settled on the floor and leaned against each other.
McCoy let out a quiet content sigh. They had hidden in the library so many times before they had gone public with their relationship and so many times after. Even in the middle of the school, it was one of the places McCoy felt the safest and happiest.
“Ye going to be alright?”
“Hmm?” McCoy turned his head to look at his fiancé.
“Being apart this time,” Scotty said softly.
The previous summer they had been apart for two weeks at the beginning. Two long weeks that had lasted a lifetime McCoy thought with a small smile. And another two terrible weeks at the end of summer that had been made worse by the presence of the Darnells.
“I think I’ll survive,” McCoy said with an over dramatic sigh. “After all, when it’s done we never have to be apart again.”
McCoy would spend the first week at home on Georgiares then he was heading to Earth, to Aberdeen for a few weeks before they all returned to prepare for the wedding.
“Never say never love,” Scotty warned. “Ye never know where the ‘Fleet may send us.”
“I’m sure we’ll be stationed together,” McCoy said confidently. “Pike told me the few couples he’s known who went through together or got together while serving did get stationed together for the most part.”
“He told ye that?”
“I asked a couple weeks ago, when we were wondering about the dorms.”
“Oh,” Scotty nodded slowly. “Well, if Jim has his way he’ll be a captain before too long and I’m sure he’ll manage to recruit us all to his ship.”
McCoy laughed. “That might be wishful thinking, but wouldn’t it be nice to all be together?”
“Aye,” Scotty said softly, leaning closer to McCoy. His fingers tightened gently around McCoy’s.
“You going to be alright this week?” McCoy asked after a few quiet moments.
“I’ll do my best,” Scotty promised, but McCoy heard the small worry in his fiancés voice. It was the same one he had, but a week would be over before they knew it.
They sat for a while longer, snuggled together, enjoying the quiet. No one else was in the library.
“We should get back,” Scotty finally broke the silence.
“I know,” McCoy said reluctantly. “I just wanted to say goodbye to this place with you properly.” He drew his arms back from around Scotty and got to his feet.
“We’ll have plenty more places to make our own,” Scotty promised, standing up as well.
“Yes we will,” McCoy agreed. He reached over to cup Scotty’s face with his hands and gave him a gentle kiss. “But this was our first place and it’ll always be special.”
“Always,” Scotty agreed.
Hand in hand they left the library to go find their families.
Part 796
Scotty
"I'll see yee in a week."
It was no more than a whisper that left Scotty's mouth as he wrapped Leonard in his arms one last time and pulled him close.
The thought of being away from his fiancé for a few days was terrifying to Scotty, but he knew they would make it somehow. After all, they could talk on the phone every night.
The royal family had to leave the graduation earlier because David had to take care of some business at home. For this reason, the king was already waiting impatiently at the car. He, Eleanor and Leah had already said goodbye to everyone. And Spock and his family were also ready to leave.
The goodbyes had taken place mostly inside. Only Scotty had come out with them.
"I'll miss you, leannan."
Scotty just nodded before letting go of Leonard and giving him another goodbye kiss.
His heart grew heavy as he watched the car pull away and Leonard fade into the distance.
Only one week. And then they would be together forever.
It didn't surprise Scotty when he re-entered the building and found Jim wrapping his arms around Pike and holding him close. The headmaster had always been like a father to Jim, and he had always done everything he could to keep his protégé from getting kicked out of school. As hard as that had been sometimes.
A soft smile crept onto Scotty's lips as he watched the usually strong Jim wipe tears from his eyes. Even the bravest, too, had a soft core.
"Jim! We have to go!"
Scotty's smile vanished immediately when he heard Frank's approaching voice. Jim's uncle came wandering down the hall, the blond's suitcases in his hands. Jim's mother, Winona, walked beside him.
She seemed barely aware of the evil undertone in her brother's voice. How could she be so blind...?
Scotty saw Jim let go of Pike and then look to his family. An annoyed look was on his face and the Scotsman could understand it all too well.
Reluctantly Jim trotted over and quickly Frank pressed the suitcases into his hands.
"You can carry those yourself, kid. You're supposed to grow big and strong, aren't you?"
Scotty gritted his teeth at the mocking voice and at that moment he knew he had to do something. So he straightened his back and slowly stepped closer.
"I think Jim is exhausted from the last few weeks of exams and this day. How about ye keep the suitcases instead? Yer nephew deserves a quiet vacation before he becomes a hero at Starfleet Academy, doesn't he?"
Scotty made sure his voice sounded as superior as possible. If there was one thing he had learned from Leonard, it was how to get over some people.
Frank just stared at him for a moment, his eyes narrowed angrily to slits, but then he seemed to realize that he was talking to the prince's intended here. And if he didn't want trouble, he'd rather take Scotty's advice.
Energetically, the man snatched the suitcases back.
"I guess he deserves that, yeah."
Without another word, Frank stomped to the door and Jim grinned at Scotty once more before he and his mother followed.
"See you at the wedding."
Scotty nodded and gave his friend a smile.
When Jim and the other two were gone, he exchanged another glance with Pike, who nodded gratefully at him.
And at that moment, Scotty couldn't deny that the royal life might have its advantages after all.

hey dorm mates!
it's been a good while hahaha-
you're probably wondering where i've been. i've been inactive for a while due to a combination of a few things, and without getting TOO personal i'd like to explain!
1. i wanted to graduate on time. i actually just graduated yestersay (the 22nd of December) 🥳 i had to take a really hardcore summer course and completely load my fall schedule which didn't leave me with a lot of time.
2. i needed to decide what hobbies to keep. i love writing and i've been trying to keep it up in my off time, but for me writing takes a lot longer than my other main hoby (illustration) so i just ended up doing that more. i still love writing and want to continue though!
3. i just kind of ended up taking a break from twst itself. i go through a lot of fixation cycles with fandoms and media, and twst inevitably went through that cycle with me. i just didn't play the game as much or follow updates as closely anymore. but i still love the game and the characters and especially the fandom! i've been slowly getting back into it so i don't experience another complete drop.
4. i had a lot of personal shit going on. i lost a close family member, and my close friends have all been going through some serious shit semi-recently. i'm not comfortable going into too much detail but i've basically been spreading myself really thin socially. i'm a pretty introverted people, so the thought of coming back to a blog with hundreds of followers and people who are very nice and amazing but that i'll just disappoint by missing their messages and such was a bit scary. i'm in a way better place mentally now which is a big reason why i wanted to come back.
so, what now? i'm not really sure how i'll proceed on things like old requests. to start i want to go through my inbox and see if i can salvage any drafts or ideas i liked. if not i already have a few ideas floating around in my head of small holiday and winter themed ideas for everyone that i know i'll enjoy writing. i appreciate everyone who has stayed in my extended and unannounced hiatus and all the people that checked up on me (especially on discord, much appreciated fr) while i was gone. i'm so grateful to have people care about my content and me enough to ask about it :)
as for changes, i'm still deciding what i want to keep and what i want to stop doing. i think it may be a good idea to limit when my requests are open and for how long, since i would definitely get overwhelmed otherwise. but how many/how long/etc i still have to determine!
all i can do is thank you all and ask you to wait just a little longer for more normal updates as i collect the last little pieces before starting to write again.
