#my thoughts on fans and fandom and fanfic and stuff

Hello Storm,
where is the ending line between "good" shipping and "bad" shipping?
I'm talking about fictional characters AND real persons from various media and genres ,canon and non-canon.
As a BL fan and mostly a fanfic reader for almost 15+ years (!), four years ago Jikook became my first rps couple and I decided it will be definitely the LAST .
Some limits and boundaries around BTS' shipping community got crossed several times with poor taste and insane thoughts .
So now I started to questioning things ..for example, maybe it's better to go back to canon BL-media, leave the members alone and focusing - only musically speaking - to the group ?
Going cold turkey on Ao3 ? Avoiding shipping AND supporting spaces in general?
Too many questions and I admit I'm a overthinker, but after the Tkk french book maybe is really getting out of control for everyone.
Hello my love! As a very avid shipper since a very young age, who before Jikook, doesn't really engage in RPS spaces either, I 1000% get what you mean. So here is where I'm going to link you to a bunch of different posts I've made before that cover this topic. Will you come back and let me know if they helped or not? 💜
This post covers the question what is shipping culture in kpop
This post is about the question, what are ship wars?
This post is I think where I draw that line of what is good shipping (supporting Jikook as individuals and potentially queer ones at that) and bad shipping.
Dealing with rumors about RPS ships by shippers post here
Respecting Privacy Post here
And here is my post where I talk about fanfiction in real person ships. You'll notice the tkkr hate book is an example that falls directly under my "things not to do and cross lines and aren't okay" paragraph. Lol
In the end, do whatever you are most comfortable with. Outside of my blog and a few others, I do not engage with a ton of RPS fics. I read some that are sent to me from friends I trust to engage in that stuff nicely and correctly and that's basically it. I've gotten a few recs from here also and only read the ones that sounded like I would be comfortable with. In fandom spaces, you have to interact with them in whatever way works best for you personally. And if you can quit ao3 cold turkey, I would so shocked and impressed 😂 I could never. I have 10 ao3 tabs open right now lmfao
Hope those posts help 💜💜💜

Clark Kent human x Dick Grayson vampire no capes and tights but fangs and might alternative universe Dick pov.
Richard pov
As the play ended we had a standing ovation but my Clark ran off the stage I wouldn't let him get away, The curtain came down and I was off after him. "Clark wait." I yelled after him chasing him it didn't take me long to catch up with him. "Stop why you are running away." I said as we went into the halls.
He freezes as he realises I am real that it was not all in his head. "God help me you found me." His mouth opened in shock. "I told you I would find you Clark that I would come to you and now I have." I smiled at him this time I made sure my fangs stayed well hidden. "Come with me." Clark was alarmed as my hand reached out to him. "No way I mean... no please." He is truly terrified of me. "I will not hurt you I just wish to spend time with you." I soothed but it didn't seem to have any effect on him, He backed up against a locker I made sure I stayed in place and made no sudden movements.
"I came to take over your play Conner seemed to be not good of an actor. I told him I could take over for him and he said yes." I stepped back from him as he was thinking and I could tell what he was thinking about and that was to run away again.
"I don't care about that right now you're a god damn vampire." Clark hushed words made me feel odd, As if not to say the evil out loud so that it won't get you. "Yes I am a vampire I only feed off animals not humans, My kind of lineage adapted to these sorts of traits of not killing and drinking humans." Yes I am not human but I would never hurt him.
"I tell you what we stay here and join the aftermath of the play and we could hang for a bit to get to know each other, I came so far to get here Clark do not shut me out." I told him I didn't move he didn't know what to do with me.
He stared at me not knowing what to say to me but nodded his head I think it was just to agree on whatever I was saying. "Ok there refreshments in the gym there's a lot of people there." My Clark said scared out of his mind he didn't know what to do.
"Let's go then." I side step for him to lead the way he walked on nervous legs and we made it down to the gym. "I would like to know more about you Clark." I said as we entered cheering and applause as we entered the gym it felt good to my icy cold dead heart. "You see that they loved your play." I complimented him. "Please you're not even a kid here that goes to school here." He scolded me.
And right there I see the witch getting closer to us I would wish for her to leave us it wouldn't be wise for her to approach us at all. "Wow Clark who's this I thought Conner was going to play the part of Tristan." Lois came to us with an air of pretence as if she never hurt Clark I wanted to put a stop to it. "He got stage fright and Dick here helped me out. So Lois why did you come here today you didn't have to come you teach home ec and algebra your presence here is not needed." Clark beat me to the punch.
"Well I had to see if you would succeed tonight but it's strange that a student that looks about twenty-four, And my goodness he is not supposed to be in this play." She sounded like an immature girl then a professional high school teacher. "Might as well have stuck out your tongue when you said that the students here have more class than you do." I said that I shouldn't have butt in the way I did but I waited for a while to get the witch and here's my chance.
Students and parents and teachers are looking over their shoulders now paying attention... well I wouldn't even call it a conversation. "Listen Dick." Lois mocked. "Richard." I corrected I wanted to see the measure of her and she suck. "Oh ok Richard I bet you and Kent obviously have had this all planned out let's go and make everyone be star struck as I perform this old play dazzle all the small people." I shook my head this is too much.
"You listen to me Lois Lane you pulled the worst thing that a person can do to another human being, I wish you just disappear you are bottom of the barrel type of a human being and I wish the king cobras had bit you, And if you got poisoned and have left planet earth it would have made the world be a better place without you. I can't believe you have the temerity to talk to me and think you have a pass because tonight show you witch." Now we are gathering a crowd around us this is not what I was expecting for my first outing in decades.
"I have no idea who put those cobras in my car was it you." Lois pretence air fell and her true nature was starting to surface.
"No but I wish it was me I waited there for an actual person to show up on thanksgiving day no less, My hopes of meeting someone was a sham because your lies." Clark is getting angry this is getting heated the crowd were on edge.
"Oh Clark no one wants you I mean look at you nerd of the decade god you were a nerd back then and you're a nerd now." I couldn't believe her humiliating my Clark in front of a room full of people Lois had no chills.
"At least someone gave him fancy gifts not like you no one would ever give you anything only covid though." I interjected. The crowd laughed at my quip I felt good about that.
She is mad at me and the crowd's reaction to my joke she grabbed cake off the table of refreshments. "Covid huh covid here I will give you covid." She hurled the cake towards Clark I went in front of him and took the hit it landed on my tunic and tights.
The crowd went in a frenzy. "Lois you witch." Clark said he also threw chocolate cake at her but it landed on the floor he didn't have good aim.
"Wow Clark you dork." She turned when a tall bald built like an ox type of gentleman who looked down on her. "Lane care to explain to me what's going on tonight why did you throw cake at Kent and company." I was shocked this man saw Clark throw cake but dismissed it and blamed Lois.
"I... they were being rude to me did you not hear what he was saying."
"I heard everything monday morning in my office."
"But."
"Don't." He put his hand up and silenced her and walked away from us. "You and Dick will pay." She walked off and the crowd parted like the red sea.
Later on that evening me and Clark did have a chance to talk we drove to his house, it was a long and awkward drive to his home Clark was not used to me and I understood why my presence alarmed him a bit.
As we pulled up to his house flames and smoke irrupted as the fire fighters were putting out the fire, Clark's mother ran towards his car. "What happened." Clark jumped out of the car and ran towards his inflamed home.
I climbed out of the car watching the fire as the firefighter put out the fire. Clark hugged his mother as his father is being put in a stretcher. "I don't know Clark I was sitting in the kitchen with your father for one minute and the next the whole house is on fire." Martha ash smear face looked at me.
I looked at her back and something about her look was puzzled, Humans couldn't detect us vampires but there was something about Martha that told me she knew something like a secret that only she knew and no one else.
I stared back at her and let her read me. { I offer my home to you and your family.} I Projected that thought to her.
She looked down and looked back at her son's grave expression. "I have somewhere to go I'll take the kids you could stay with my sister in Texas." Clark turned towards me I sent him a signal to come with me.
And he shook his head no.
The end of act 11 on to act 12
Thank you for reading

y'all I just have to say that I am so excited to have a functioning typing device that ISN'T my phone or ipad+very-cheap-and-occasionally-bizarre-bluetooth-keyboard setup (even if I can't quite figure out most of the basic functions on my macbook right now fshkfdhfh). like... I am going to write SO much fic now that I'm not tied to the sole options of 1) Rather Inconvenient OR 2) Must Be Plugged In At ALL TIMES Or WILL Crash and Lose All Of Your Work and Also Likes To Randomly Disconnect From The Internet For No Reason Really At All. like I'll still procrstinate and get extremely intense imposter syndrome and all that. but I think that having something accessible all the time that doesn't require me to be in a really specific setting or jump through a whole bunch of hoops to use will make writing a Lot easier.

(me thoughts r in the tags)
#struggling w the moral questions around writing fanfiction#usually when im writing original stuff its cause i have an idea in my head thats so clear and so cool and i just need it to be out#both so other people can see it and so that i can just get to soak it up and everything#also i want to talk to ppl about my ideas because theyre sick as fuck most of the time#but with fanfic the desire and drives behind the creativity are quite different#like it starts the same with me having an idea and needing to get it out#but usually its because someone (or many someones) have the wrong idea about my favorite little fictional guys#and the only way to see my ideas is to create them#because looking at other peoples ideas when i dont like them gets boring and bad fast#and good lord. are there some terrible takes and god awful characterisations going on in the mcyt fandom#Nobody Understands Him Like I Do etc#and i know theres tons of fanfic about mcyt and mcrp stuff which is fine i guess idk i feel like its very morally grey#and a highly case by case basis for whether something is morally okay to do yk#idk i have. a lot of thoughts and worries and stuff about fan content in this specific situation#i feel the urge to create but i worry about the morality of it#and yeah i know theres like boundaries lists out there and such and thats cool that people try to take that sort o thing into account#when writing about rp characters#like better than just taking the rp character and running with it yk#but i feel. i feel like its something that's hard to do in this case because of how close to reality these rp characters are#everyone knows that every character you create has a little bit of yourself in it#and it can be hard sometimes to tell when some minecraft guys are becoming their minecraft ocs#like where do you end and where does the character start#its a very blurry area to me and it depends on the individual creator#i will probably not create anything other than some like character designs or whatever#i feel like visual art is fine yk unless its like weird or something but ya. idk these are my thoughts#pov i am using tumblr as a board to bounce ideas off of#ceros posting#mcyt

Japanese website Forest Page is shutting down ~today, a tragic loss of "Heisei otaku memories", as so many are calling it. Launched in 2003, Forest Page was a "Geocities for mobile", a site that hosted user-created websites and gave them tools to allow non-coders to make them. In practice, it became one of the premiere places for fanfiction in Japan, with the stories hosted on author-created sites.
It wasn't quite the Fanfic.net of Japan, as for one the Japanese fandom just never centralized quite the way the 2000's western one did, instead being spread out over a half dozen or so sites. But additionally, it wasn't initially popular for fanfic so much as cell phone fanfiction, because in 2000's Japan the "cell phone novel" was a specific thing. These websites were being made for flip phones, not smartphones, and not only would people read them on those phones, they would often write them. None of that was very conducive to the creation and consumption of a "traditional" novel; so starting in the 2000's Japanese writers started making stories fit for the medium, namely:
Very short
A huge focus on dialogue and inner thoughts, with no/minimal description or scene detail
Using a limited POV of a specific character
Often employing the medium-as-message, like using emojis, structuring the story as IM's or emails, etc.
Also they all had huge gaps between lines, I'm not really sure what that is about:
Tumblr media
Probably for readability on the phone given the small screen size? But it was absolutely part of the genre. A few of these novels actually made it big, got movie adaptations, people wrote articles about the "cultural phenomenon", it was the 2000's so Hiroki Azuma had a take on it of course, and so on. It slotted neatly into the vibe of the time of technology changing culture, paralleling discourse around otaku in the same era.
In fanfic those trends met up, and anyone familiar with fanfiction probably read that list of traits of the cellphone novel and thought "oh, this is perfect for fanfiction". Skipping out on description? I don't need it, I know what they look like already. Focus on conversation and POV? Perfect for shipping fics. Short lengths? Yeah, we are shortcutting to the good stuff, that is the point. Mirroring trends in the west, Forest Page's userbase was ~95% female, and the most common content on the site was romantic or edgy-dramatic stories in the franchises you'd expect. The closure page linked above actually summarizes the site's history by year, and lists the biggest fandoms:
Tumblr media
Which is exactly what I would expect from a female otaku fanfiction website. Congrats to Pirates of the Caribbean for making it though, freeaboo's represent.
I do think the fact that the site was a website hoster as opposed to a fic hoster did align with the way the Japanese fandom was more "creator focused" and embraced the media mix more. There were "fic circles" a la doujin circles who made their own pages, people would make fanart, fan video games, and so own to host alongside it, and all of it was centralized to the creator; it made following them-as-a-person just a little bit easier. Most websites were simple text, but others did have the full Geocities experience:
Tumblr media
Something that was somewhat common were basic visual novel concepts where the reader could make choices, or even insert their own name so they would be the "MC" of the story:
Tumblr media
(Dream novels are in fact their own thing in Japan) My understanding is the site was quite popular through the 2000's and into the 2010's, though over time the "cellphone novel" as a concept fizzled out. People got smartphones, more people got PCs, and the constraints didn't make sense anymore - you can read ebooks and normal websites on your phone now after all. You can probably draw a line between these kind of stories and the webfiction/light novel boom of the late 2000's/2010's, something that was equally born on the internet, that streamlines the novel to "shortcut to the good stuff" but without the need to fit on a flip phone's screen. Though I will admit my own understanding of their histories shows them more as two sides of the same "youth demand for new literature" coin.
In 2017 Forest Page launched Forest Page Plus, a new service fully optimized for the smartphone era; but it did not transfer over all the old content, starting the clock ticking on the original Forest Page. My understanding is that in June they announced Forest Page was officially closing down; and from what I have gathered from reminiscing writers on twitter, they did not provide any easy, one-touch way to save any of the content, so people are archiving Wayback Machine links or sharing tips on how screenshot-save stories (I think the rub is they gave people a way to transfer content to FP+, but most don't want to do that, as places like Twitter & Pixiv are the content kings of this era).
As of tomorrow I would bet the large majority of the content will be gone; quite sad given both the quantity of stories there and how many got sometimes millions of readers. I am sure most of the biggest stories are archived at least, but particularly the early stuff was a very ephemeral genre, one that doesn't make sense to revisit once you aren't a 16 year old teen writing and reading fics on a flip phone in between classes. Which means another legion of the ghosts of the Wired is being born today. May we pour one out for a fellow online community that lived and died!

As one of your younger followers I’m surprised that blogs are. . . New? Newer than I thought at least. I guess I always misunderstood what Web 1.0 really was (I grew up web Web 2.0) and I always thought that, outside of informational topics, a big feature of Web 1.0 would be people talking about their lives and interests — tho granted with little to no communication/replies from others. Huh, TIL.
--
Yeah, things really changed a lot and perhaps even more quickly than now at some points in the internet's development.
At the start of the 90s, it was all Usenet groups and service providers with their own forums you could only see if you had that service.
Free e-mail addresses became a thing in the mid 90s. Prior to that, it was all paid stuff like AOL, and prior to that, it was your university or IT job e-mail with your actual name in it. There were very few services, paid or otherwise, that provided you with an e-mail and access to the internet generally: it was all about selling access to a given company's proprietary hangout. There were some. My e-mail is from one. But that wasn't the norm.
(And, of course, prior to like 1995, "the internet" did not by default mean the web. Now, everything is the web or a web interface for your e-mail or something.)
When eGroups and Onelist and then Yahoo Groups arrived, it really changed things for fandom because you could run your own mailing list without knowing technical things. Some of the action drained away from Usenet to mailing lists.
Fandom dipped its toes into blogging sites immediately, but the giant wave of people getting Livejournals wasn't until 2003. I had one in 2002 through a friend, and it really wasn't this big fandom thing at the time. Some time around 2002/early '03, fans started trying to round up invite codes and get their favorite writers on there, and then LJ dropped the need to pay or have a code, and the flood away from mailing lists began.
(I guess web-based forums go in here somewhere, but I wasn't as active on them.)
In some ways, Discord is more like fandom on the early internet than either the LJ era or Tumblr eras were/are.
Most of the 90s stuff was more topic-specific. People socialized because people are people and frequently off-topic, but you were hanging out in The Place For Anime Fanfic or something, not so-and-so's personal diary with a comments section.

Mukami brothers x motherly! Reader
{Ugh, I barely see any diabolik lovers fanfics anymore, where has this fandom gone 😭
Anyway, if I can't find any, I'll just write some for (myself) my fellow diabolik lover fans 🫠
(Literally had this in my drafts since Christmas 2023 😀)
Requests are always open!}
--––——
(this takes place after Karlheinz helped the Mukami brothers)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
——––--
You occurred to be "trespassing" Karlheinzes property, where the Mukami brother were said to be living. If truth to be told, you didn't step a foot close to his premises, you just happened to be hard by at an unfitting time and place.
As the cool evening breeze caressed your skin, You stood before the vampire king, Karlheinz. He had summoned you there to answer for your transgressions, whatever they might be. His eyes, cold as ice, bore into you very soul as he surveyed you with disdain. According to his words, "you had committed some unforgivable offense against him, and you were about to pay the price."
Karlheinzes words echoed through your ears as he announced his judgment: "As punishment for your actions, I could have killed you where you stand. Instead, I have decided to give you a chance at redemption. I will make you my fourth wife." His voice was cold and harsh, like the wind howling through the mountains.
You cringed at the thought of being his wife, let alone his fourth wife. Before you could even begin to refuse, however, his eyes scanned over you, and something in them changed. "No," he muttered to himself, "you look far too flawed." It was then that he noticed the crease between your brows, the sign of your displeasure.
Instead, he decided, since no one was currently tending to the Mukami brothers, who were still quite young, he would make you their maid. It was a lesser role, but one that would still allow you to live another day instead of being murdered. "You will be the mother to the Mukami brothers," he announced, "until such time as they are capable of taking care of themselves. You're in no position to argue. Any complains and you'll be sucked dry. Did I make myself clear?"
You didn't particularly like the sound of this new arrangement, but you figured it was better than the alternative. So, you nodded numbly and turned to leave. As you walked away from the intimidating figure of Karlheinz, you couldn't help but wonder what sort of life you had just signed up for. Being the mother to four vampire children sounded like a daunting task, to say the least.
---–—
Ruki
Tumblr media
He's reluctant at first, only interacting with you if necessary. He has mommy issues so it will take a while until he warms up to you. He's afraid you're going to hurt him and his brother, just like the people at the orphanage did :(
Once he got used to you and started tolerating your existence, he slowly looks up to you.
He likes to help you with house chores and loves when you read books to all of them.
Respects the fact that you treat and love all of them equally, and that you actually intervine in their life like a proper parent should do.
He still respects Karlheinz and wishes do fulfil his plan, despite your disagreement. In his eyes, he's still the one who gave them a second chance at life.
Will not speak to for a couple of days if bring up the scars on his back. He hates them and hates who done it to him. Though despite all this, he secretly enjoys the comfort you give him, despite not admitting it ever.
---——
Kou
Tumblr media
---——
Oh boy. He's a cheeky little bastard that's for sure. Like Ruki, he doesn't trust you at all at first. He'll always ask for stuff in return whenever you ask him to do something. That's just the he was taught.
It will be hard to get him out of that mindset. Really now.
When he started to trust you a bit, also started singing for you, just so you reward him with your baked goods.
Of course he gets away with it every time as you are too soft hearted.
You'll encourage him whenever he sings, even suggesting some singing lessons if he wants to.
Maybe you weren't such a boogey person as he first thought you were.
Yuma
Tumblr media
---–—
At first, just like Ruki, he's skeptical of you. He doesn't trust you one bit.
It will take a while to gain his trust.
Thinks you're one of those fancy people who didn't care about lesser class people like him.
You gain his respect (and a bit of trust) when you show that's not true at all.
Likes gardening with you and gets very happy when the stuff you guys planted together turn out delicious.
Isn't a very picky eater, unlike Kou
He's pretty chill once he's gotten used to you, but he still doesn't trust you that much sometimes.
Azusa
Tumblr media
He's the most clingy out of all of them-
When Karlheinz first introduced you to them, he was the first that came to you, only for him to ask you to cause him pain.
You had to hide the whole cutlery in the kitchen from him as he kept cutting himself.
You always bandaged his wounds and gave them gentle kisses.
Wrong idea. (even though it meant good.)
Now he keeps cutting and bruising himself, just for you to keep giving him attention- (Azusa, no-)
You had to lecture him a lot to tell him that he can just come and ask for affection if he wants it and doesn't have to ask Yuma to cut him with the gardening scissors, (which was another thing you had to hide from him.)
It took a while but you somewhat, somehow, managed to make him stop cutting himself whenever he wanted hugs-

The end <3

Current Plans + Musings
I don't plan on playing Exedra to the degree I did for Magia Record, or playing it at all. Because of that, I won't be taking an active role in the community and archiving anything for it. Of course, if Exedra has like amazing gameplay and stories then this is all subject to change, but for now I think I'm done with phone games.
The two youtube channels will stay up and I'll check em periodically to make sure there aren't copyright strikes against the content. I've saved all my raw files, especially for the battle animations, so I can remake them in the future if the music ever becomes a problem for some reason.
Google Drive will stay up until Google rots away. I haven't recorded footage in a long time (as in stories, I do for the character doppels and such), but I'll upload things if they're sent to me.
Magia Union Translations still plans on translating things and making videos, especially leading up to the end, but also for after the game is over for whatever wasn't made in time. I'm not sure what form this will take in the future-- if it'll be manual captions added to the videos or not, but I know it WILL happen.
As for this blog, I'm not going to delete it or anything. However I'm going to be taking a step back. I'd like to say that I'll do liveblogs but I mean... *gestures at blog* I've been saying that for years and the only one I really did successfully was the Oriko one lmao. Ahhh oh well.
I'll have more words later, but it was really fun to be part of a fandom experience like this. I'm excited to work on my own original story projects though and quiet down a bit.
...
When I started this blog, I never expected it to have people actually read it. Or look at it. I just wanted a place to gush about how much fun I was having. I didn't even want to tag the posts with "Magia Record" at first because I was terrified people would be mean at me, haha.
But I'm glad I did. I made so many good friends through this game. I'm glad it existed. And it made me happy to have a place where people cared about what I had to say. Some folks actually got their news from here, can you imagine that? They had notifications turned on for this blog. My god.
Anyways, I'm going to be here for the next two months, and tomorrow I'll start reblogging fan projects and initiatives, plus general news. Maybe this blog will turn into a dumping site for art and fanfic reblogs, who knows. I might watch the remaining stuff and add various thoughts here and there.
Otherwise, you can find me on my main blog @malignmuffin, which only reblogs stuff (I don't talk much if at all there). I have another tumblr blog for my comic, but I think I'll reshare the name once I actually have content you can look at on it. It's pretty bare bones for the moment.
Actually it'll be funny if the end of this game is what makes me finally work on it again. I was in the process of working on it when NA came out, and it totally derailed me. Stopped writing, drawing, just focused on this silly little phone game. Now it's like those five years have gone by and I'm going back to where I started, except I think my lil comic is going to be a bit better than it was before. If I actually make it, that is.
If I ever do actually make my comic and start posting it, I'll be sure to update y'all here. hah
Anyways, thanks for being on this wild ride with me. The memories have been great, and I'm glad I had this experience, even if it had to end.

When they insult you (Kenma and Oikawa pt. 2)
A/N thank you all for the suggestions and support! The ideas came from @multi-fandom-fanfic !!
Genre: Hurt/Comfort (i think that’s right)
Warnings: Mentions of eds, self deprecating thoughts and fluff
Part One
Tumblr media
(Kenma)
After you left he felt bad, he really did. But, he was still frustrated so he finished the stream and went to bed. Hoping you would’ve cooled down by then, but you hadn’t. You were fast asleep in the guest room with dried tears on your face.
The next day he apologized, you forgave him, and he thought that was the end of everything.
The only difference he noticed was how you seem more tired and less enthusiastic.
Before, you were more than happy to wedding plan, and it made him smile seeing how happy you were.
Now, every little thing was seeming to stress you out and you were gone a lot more.
Upon further inspection, he found out you had gotten a job.
“Y/N? Why did i find out that you were working at the new arcade downtown?”
“Oh,” you answered tiredly, “you wanted me to, you remember?”
And he did remember. And he felt horrible.
Somehow his fans knew too.
“What do you mean, what's wrong with Y/N?” he was reading his chats. His entire stream had comments flooded with questions about Y/N
Why isn't Y/N posting anymore?
Did you and your fiancee break up?
Y/N looks so tired recently.
And he knew they were right. Ending his stream he went downstairs and saw you crying on the couch. Looking from your phone to your computer like your life depended on it.
“Is... Is everything okay?” He asked, cuddling you.
“Yeah,” you sniffled, “just balancing school, work, and the wedding is a lot. It's getting overwhelming.”
“Y/N, I'm so sorry. I was just having a bad day and I took it out on you. I'm so so sorry my love.”
“It's okay, Ken. Just please, never do that again.”
“Noted, I love you.”
“I love you too.”

(Oikawa)
Oikawa didn’t apologize. He didn’t tend to. But, you didn’t need him to. You just carried on with your life, only difference was now you were working out more and eating less.
And Tooru noticed. Complimenting on how beautiful you looked. He must’ve really thought you looked good as the very next day he informed you his friends were coming over for dinner. The same friends he saw in the store.
"Y/N you look beautiful!” Nami complimented, handing you a present filled with baby stuff.
“Thank you, I’ve been trying.”
“You don’t need to work out,” she said seriously, “I wish I could gain some weight, I hate how disproportionate my body looks due to my bump,” She whined, as you both took a seat at the table.
“That’s nonsense dear,” her husband chimed in. You look amazing.
That was the support you wished you got from your husband.
Especially now. You didn’t feel well at all.
You knew something was wrong.
And you were right. The very next moment you passed out on the table.
Next thing you knew, you were lying on a hospital bed.
“Oh my gosh, Y/N. I’m so happy you’re okay. I don’t know what I would’ve done if something happened to you or the baby.”
“You got really fucking lucky Oikawa,” Nami sneered, “she was starving herself because you talked about the way she looked while she’s pregnant with YOUR baby.”
After making sure you were okay and slapping Oikawa Nami and Sato left.
“Y/N- I-”
“Just save It Tooru. I don’t want to see you right now.”
“I-I know you’re mad at me. You have every right to be. Just know It’ll never happen again and I’ll never stop trying to get you to forgive me. I’ll do whatever it takes. I’m so, so sorry.”

Clark Kent x Richard Grayson
Act 1
As I got up from my slumber I heard the familiar male voice again warm gentle in my mind talking, My mind is still jumbled as memories swarm into my consciousness. As I am being pulled once again into the past.
Walking the market place in town with my family as a prince made things awkward for me as I am usually in disguise wearing peasant clothing. "Come my lord this way." Alfred said as he pulled me away from some merchants and that's when I saw his stand, I froze in place and turned quickly around and started walking in the opposite direction from his stand.
I headed towards the tavern as posters of the jousting tourney this afternoon were splashed across the land, I needed to breath as I walked in the tavern it smelled of strong wine and meal being prepared.
The whole tavern kneel as soon I entered this didn't help as my nerves are being shot, I saw him but this is madness he do's not know who I am nor do's he know that I am his admire he knows nothing of me being royalty.
I was being silly with that thought I grew more confident I found a table as the bar keeper placed food in front of me and wine. Alfred found me and so did my brothers as I watch them coming closer.
I smiled at them as they entered not knowing what to do next as my space has been invaded, I ate and drank what was given to me the beef soup was filling and with the bread it tasted good. "How could you eat here." Jason said as I put him in his place. "These are our people." And it was the end of the discussion I didn't want to talk wrongfully to anyone that could hear us I didn't want anyone feeling like we were passing judgement here.
That's when the fisherman walked in and sat at the table in front of me, I watched in aw as he wore the clothes a few weeks ago that I gifted him, I gaze at him picking him a part I knew this was as close I would get to him as myself.
He was quite man but I always knew that him living by himself, I was being pulled again by him everything else started to fade watching him order food. "Food and drinks on me." I shouted the whole room roared and that got his attention are eyes met for the first time well for him I've been watching him since I was a child.
His dark brown eyes got nervous as I held his gaze for a short moment, And then he looked to the ground I was crushed as he looked away from me I wanted more but I couldn't do that it was not good for me or for him to push anything.
As music played and the peasants are getting more and more animated because of the tourney and perhaps getting more and more drunk I declared to leave as I walked out my brothers followed me out the tavern before I left and went out the door I gave him one last look.
Later on in the tourney I sat there watching men being destroyed as I sat my eyes for no reason skimmed the crowd as I can't believe I spotted him again. I decided that I wanted to participate as well I got up off my seat and left towards the tents where all the lords dukes are preparing for their turn at being dismantled.
"Suit me up." As I exclaimed and I was hurried to be suited.
"Why are you doing this." Jason asked me his face puzzle. "I want to get the attention of the ladies." Jason snorted at me as I was ready and in my armor I was helped on my horse and galloped off it was quick and Lord Oliver won I got up with no damages on me.
The crowd cheered my ego bruised a little I hoped he saw me I took off my helmet my hair going falling past my shoulders, I smiled at the crowd and waved I found him watching me his reaction wasn't like the crowd neutral and passive I wanted to run towards him and tell him I wore this terrible heavy clunky armor for him so I could get his attention.
But instead I walked off and I paused for a bit as I directed my wave towards him, I walked off and to the tent to take off my armor I was spellbound by this man I kept him in a draw and when no one is looking I pull him out and to watch him.
The feast went on that night and that's when I struck again gathering food sometimes herbs and balms wine water soup and sweets I observed he has a sweet tooth, Well tonight was no exception I would ride out into the evening I doubt he was home and I did what I always did and let myself in his home.
I put the food on the table and looked at my hand a big ruby ring was on my index finger I stared at it and took it off and rested it on the table, Beside the food and the herbs It was cold in here he needed to gather wood for a fire I could provide him that some other time.
I looked around his place and snooped around a little but I knew I had to sneak off into the forest. I left him a scribbling note. "I love you." on his bed and left the fisherman's home. I didn't go far watching by the window as he made it home.
I wanted him to read the note but he couldn't read in less I left him a book it would be for children but it was a good start some of those books have illustrations on them. It was a start he picked up the ring I left on the table and he looked at the ring studying it.
I left him and walked off into town I got closer I made it through some alley ways and put my expensive clothes back on and put my peasant ones in a sac. and went in my quarters as I sat on my bed hearing noise and music outside a loud knock at my door. "Enter." Timothy came in my quarters. "Father wants to speak to us there is a big counsel meeting." I got up and walked out my gut feeling was telling me it is about Raz a gul.
I reached the chamber and found all the dukes and knights who came for the festivity now all seated here but where was my grandfather ?
I came in and sat down things were never solved in these meetings. "I've been dealing with this man who's been my rival for many years now, I need a better idea." My father exclaimed in frustration hitting the hard wood table with his fist.
"You are dealing with a king and I do believe for the worst part a wizard and an evil one at that." Prince Hal explained to my father he wanted to leave this meeting I could tell before I got here it was going in circles only a select few would be chosen to be here people who my father can trust.
"I can't believe I let my father deal with him my father is a king but an ignorant king." Agreed.
"I am afraid he will attack us he's a vindictive man." My father said arms crossed and in deep thought. "I beg you pardoned my lords your grace did this really happen with the Persian princess." lord Barry asked suspecting the worse out of this outcome.
My father looked at lord Barry and in his silence everything was revealed my father committed a sin I believe it's the both of them that did wrong here but that was neither here nor there.
I got pulled out of my memory and I got thrust back into the present as I am still in the crypt, I spirited smaller animals to the crypt to regain my force and strength so that I could be my former self I blame the vampire hunter who did this to me a few decades back laced the spire at my side with poison that kept me in this state.
Every time I drink blood I get stronger and stronger my mind gets more and more powerful, I slowly regain what was lost as I build myself up again a sudden voice cross my mind and it was the same warm male voice.
It seemed like there was a debate where young voices are arguing about Tristan and a person called Isolde. I could see what he's seeing and as the children argued he was reading a passage in the book.
I switched the words around in his mind and spelled some words to see if he understood my meaning. { Hello I' am Richard.} I did an illusion of mind It startled him as he threw the book on the floor and stomped on it making the children laugh I heard a loud bell that rang loud and everyone scattered out the door.
Still breathing loudly holding his chest I used telepathy to talk to him. {I am sorry I scared you.} I said in his mind. "Holy jeeze." He responded no one was in the room if he talked to himself no one would question it either.
{I will see you soon.} Is all I could truly muster from the link I have with him my mind starts to drift back into its state of stillness and darkness.
End of act 1 on to act 2
Thank you for reading

I assume this is about the batjokes vs timkon poll. Glad as always batjokes fans are standing up. 😤
Obviously a poll is essentially a contest, but man, it's still a bummer how inevitable nasty comments are when a ~problematic~ ship is involved. Instead of entertainment, the poll becomes an opportunity for some people to perform morality about fiction. And shipping wars, whatever their origins, were stupid when I was a wee fandomite in the late freakin' 90s, and they're stupid now.
So I'm well-seasoned enough that I don't let this nonsense affect my enjoyment of batjokes, but I still find it valuable to speak up so anyone who feels affected by the negativity sees the other side of it. That's the idea I really hate when this stuff crops up, that people will be scared away from what they enjoy or wonder if they're actually monsters. No, you're not some sort of objectionable person for exploring non-wholesome ideas in fiction. No, you don't have to limit yourself to the "good" versions (that are entirely based on the "bad" versions). No, you're not silly or stupid for looking at two characters with an 84-year history who in their varying versions are constantly presented as connected, and thinking "hey, there's some romantic subtext to play with there." (Or text that's only a few degrees off from overt in some cases, let's be real.)
And you know, while the point of fandom is fun, some aspects are quite meaningful. The communities that are formed. The friendships you make. Seeing yourself in a character. Expressing your thoughts and feelings. Improving your skills when you create fanworks. Expanding your media literacy. So many things!
Other people's dislike of the fiction you enjoy? That's their problem, not yours.
After all, batjokes could lose every poll, and it doesn't change that I've logged hundreds of thousands of words of fanfic about it, with more to come.

I've been witnessing a lot of negativity in the fandoms I'm in the past few months. There was one fandom I thought was free from it because it was comparatively smaller but alas.
Don't expect people to have the same view as you and don't criticise the people when they don't have it. A fandom is a spiral of people and ideas, they all come here with opinions, ideas, metas and fanfics they want to share. Let it stay that way. Don't put down others for not liking the things you like and don't put down others for liking the things you don't.
There is absolutely no compromise in this and I wish people would see this. Can we please be nice to each other? Can we not demean each other? Can we please act civilised and not as if we're political leaders with really weak egos?
I keep seeing people say "It's my opinion, I can say what I want". And yes baby, you absolutely can! In fact, I encourage it! But not at the expense of others, not at the expense of making people feel hesitant about sharing something they really, really like.
A majority of these things wouldn't even have happened if our thought processes went like, "Oh, this person doesn't like what I do? That's fine, they can do as they wish." and "I'm not a big fan of [Some Specific Content], but that doesn't mean I'm going to say xyz negative stuff about it. Let's just scroll and move on."
If the idea or whatever is bothering you really bothers you that much, please just block the tags. That's why they were made in the first place! It's only a few clicks away, I promise you. It is really that simple.

Would love to hear more about your thoughts on the commercialisation of fandom!!
Ooooh, boy you've opened a can of worms. I took a Fan Studies course at uni for a module bc I could choose it, and I did a lot of research into this specific topic... I hope it's okay that I'm just putting in some of my slides and then summarising underneath each!
Now, fandom in, for instance, fan fiction spaces, works on the basis of a Gift Economy in which gifts rather than money are exchanged. However, these gifts aren't just meant for one person, but for many, and even when you for instance do an artwork or a fanfic for someone, other people can still ALSO read it. These gifts can (but don't have to) be responded to with another gift, be it a comment on a fic, or a fic in return. Now, I could go into much more detail here, but I recommend checking out for instance this text by Trisha Turk on the TWC for some more in-depth stuff about this. (I'll list all the sources I used in the presentation in the end btw!) The gist of it is that fandom is a very complex system in which the reciprocation of gifts - and therefore labour - is distributed across the community.
(more under the cut)
HOWEVER capitalism, as always, comes along and tries to ruin things for profit.
Tumblr media
Fandoms continue to form because of the unrestricted movement and no one dictating what is well, "really" canon and what isn't. I'm sure you've witnessed some fans in more recent years refusing to ship things that "won't become canon anyway", positioning the canonicity of a ship or a scenario higher than... well, their own critical reflection and interpretation OF the media and their own creative endeavours. At the end of the day, canon for me personally is something to draw on, negotiate with, or reject if it's stupid, while more recent fandoms I've seen sometimes go about their engagement with fandom as a sort of... worshipping of canon almost, and where being noticed by the creators is sort of the ultimate goal.
Now, this is of course connected to corporations realising that hey, actually people engaging with our media and creating something about it bring in numbers, and with them being able to make a profit off of views on social media, they seek to drive certain forms of engagement with the content. However, they are of course seeking to police HOW you engage with things, and don't you dare stray from their vision too much. This, of course, harms especially marginalised communities who propose alternative readings of media, who subvert the show itself and who transform it into something else, adding themselves into the work and into a world where, by design, they were invisible. It's also an attempt to undermine fan activism and grassroots organising by fans (if you wanna hear more about fan activism shoot me another ask and I will ramble <3 edit: link to post about fan activism) by keeping them in line with a sterilised version of fandom. In this sterilised and controlled version, the forms most often encouraged are things like video edits (but don't be too out there, that's bad too) that can be consumed like content by fandom... They like video edits, sterilised fanart, and things that are easily consumed and bring numbers, but "don't you dare write that nasty Spirk fanfiction where they have sex in the captain's chair! Ewww, yuck yuck!"
Rather than having a fandom driven by community, you have one driven by consumption, and that has become increasingly clear in the past few years, with readers on fan fiction asking "When next chapter?", pressuring artists, writers, etc. for more 'content' for them to consume without a) participating in the Gift Economy fandom is built upon and b) realising that these fan works are gifts to the community in the first place, and not content... These are, by the way, often the same fans who will cheer on AI because now they can finally read a story they wanted someone to continue :D Instead of using their own fucking brain, they're asking a bot trained on scraping works to produce them some bad, surface level jumble of words just so they can consume, consume, endlessly consume without ever having to think.
A few years ago (well in like, the late 2000s), a site called FanLib wanted to profit off of the resale of fanfiction, but were quickly shut down. Their mistake was that they mistook the community of fandom for a commodity to exploit for their own commercial interests. I'm not sure you've seen it, but Wattpad has sent authors emails asking them to update their fics frequently because it would appease the algorithm (see Tumblr Post about this here), which leads me to my next little point!
Algorithms! If you have ever done fan edits and posted them on sites like TikTok, Instagram, etc., you'll have noticed that... unless you post regularly and frequently (like. one edit a day at least), the algorithm will NOT push your video at all and it will be buried. Algorithms are based on how well a post performs not in terms of actual community that is built, but of course on numbers. Wattpad also functions on an algorithmic principle, which is why you have some........ individuals coming to AO3 and complaining about the supposed algorithm, spamming their work and reposting it, yadda yadda. Basically, these fans are so used to being spoonfed by an algorithm by now, they are confused when they are actually left on their own and are supposed to learn some basic fandom rules. It's honestly frightening to see fandom not only be reduced to this surface level interaction and to number-based algorithmic systems, but also to the trend-hopping TikTokification of fandom.
A study done by Booth and Dare-Edwards published in 2021 that focused on school age children basically came to the following conclusions... Children still connect "fan" with the same stereotypes of obsessive and unruly individuals that were plaguing us thirty years ago. A whole bunch of children think fandom is a thing of the past and that it peaked in the early 2000s - and while fandom of course is different now and has changed with the spread of the internet, fandom very much still is A Thing. Further, children connected fandom and being a fan mostly with buying merchandise and collecting, and also with plain consuming content, echoing "neo-liberal associations of ‘emotion’ with ‘buying power’, but at the same time, seemed to pathologize those who practice fandom (as they see it) ‘too much’" (Booth and Dare-Edwards 230). The text concludes that while there has been an explosion of media and you are becoming more multi-facetted in what you are a fan of, lilypad hopping and essentially abandoning fandoms after a brief period of surface level engagement and consuming content is increasingly becoming more common. From my own experience, this is for instance the case with shows like Willow (2022), Good Omens(ish), etc. Pretty much anything more recent doesn't have as stable a fanbase and if you enter the fandom a month too late it's already fizzing out. It's really fucked up, honestly.
Right, after that long tangent about this, I want to bring up ancillary models, which is an attempt by capitalist companies to market the previously unwanted Gift Economy of fandom as something new and desirable, but something they are in control of.
Tumblr media
Ancillary Content Models try to lure fans in with "free" Behind-the-Scenes content. The guise they have stolen from fandom of acting like a Gift Economy of saying "here, this is for all our dedicated fans <3 Consume :D" is used to downplay the commercial infrastructure these Content Models (honestly it's already in the name). The "gifted" content is more concerned with getting loads of people to individually consume as much of it as possible to create an alternative revenue on for instance social media through views, clicks, likes, etc. They're essentially trying to commercialise our viewing time and keep us engaged with that additional content as much as possible. Rather than having a community that comes together to share their ideas and stories around a metaphorical campfire, Ancillary Content Models want each person alone to sit and stare at the stuff they put out as much as possible, always placidly clicking "like" and demanding more. They also want to cultivate an "official" fan community (aka the ones most dedicated to consuming additional content) that they can monitor and control, and they don't encourage anything that's too... out there, too subversive, too queer, etc. Coined "re-gifting economy" by Suzanne Scott, capitalism with these Ancillary Content Models has warped the Gift Economy fandom functions on into a model that equates consumption with community, and which wants to profit off of fans' engagement and their free labour of making viral TikTok edits that adhere to the sterilised version of what a fan "should be". The example I used in my presentation for this is from The Dragon Prince, which, while I do love the show, has been pushing such Ancillary Content Models. They also have a Discord (which is regulated and monitored) as their "official fan community" place, and not only are the rules pretty strict, but it also just... doesn't feel like a community but just like a bunch of people wanting more content gathered in one place :/
Now, to conclude this, capitalism sucks and is trying to ruin fandom communities in order to replace them with something they can make some more money of, and rather than having a critical fanbase that questions things, they want one that endlessly consumes the "free" content they churn out. Stay active in fandom, remember we're a Gift Economy, learn the fandom rules, and keep hating capitalism <3

When you say "This part of fandom is extremely weird about first person", could you elaborate on that? Either about the history, or just about the contemporary things that are usually associated with first-person... Whether they're true correlations or just stereotypes.
Is first-person considered pretentious, for example? I sort of assumed for a long time that it would be.
Are there particular types of fandom that tend to have a lot of first-person writing? As in, some genre or whatever, not just "the original book was in first-person".
And it's not even particularly thought of as a self-insert thing, is it? (Rather, as JUST a self-insert thing.)
--
First person is a less common but just kind of banal choice in original writing. Many fanfic fans respond to it as such. It's overwhelmingly more common when canon is like that. Most of the rest of the first person fics I see are imitating a specific style that's normally in first—think ridiculous hardboiled private eye fics like the famous Who Knackered Aragorn's Catamite?
But in recent years, I've seen some people finding first to be a Big Deal™. It's still not common in most fandoms, as far as I can see, but people flailing about it have become more common. When this has come up before, it has become clear that there's a strain of fandom coming out of knockoffs of knockoffs of YA Boom titles, the kinds of things that are in first person present tense but don't know what to do with it.
IDK about the untagged first person fic, but the tagged stuff shows no particular pattern. There's a bunch of it in enormous fandoms that have a lot of works and that tag a lot.
--
I do find first to be a more challenging choice for your average TV fandom because those actually do have POV, but not one most viewers can easily articulate and not one that's similar to written first person that stays with one character. Bringing in this wildly different stylistic element can end up sounding like you're writing the aforementioned hardboiled detective AU even when that wasn't the intent.
Omniscient and limited third with POV switches are both pretty similar to your average TV POV, though film and written POV don't work the same way, so there isn't a one-to-one match.
If someone said the usual "I want fic that's similar to canon... or I want you to be very, very good at your craft", I would not find that remarkable. But the actual way people talk makes it sound like every baby writer in 2024 cares about Divergent. In my experience, they do not.
