Fuck that. And fuck you for suggesting it. I might have to start making an evil found family with a cleric (but one that’s COOL and EVIL, not CRINGE and LAME) at this rate. I tried resurrecting a cleric, but he was working on older rules, so could only summon negative energy (and that really killed the vibes tbh).

Necromancer Finney AU: Adults in general aren’t sure how to feel about Vance. On one hand, he’s got that infamous short temper. On the other hand, he’s been through quite a bit, even before the Grabber incident. Ultimately, it’s generally agreed that Vance is a victim of terrible circumstances and is reacting accordingly to them

I’m actually unsure on this one because I do think maybe in a town like Denver they’d definitely sympathize with him, and feel for his pain but at the same time I think Vance would hate it. Because it’s only after Vance has to undergo massive amounts of trauma and pain for the adults around him to see him as a kid and not some criminal.

it’s showing him that the adults had potential to care but they never did. And instead of working with him, they work against him labeling him as a troubled child who would end up seriously hurting someone. …I don’t know, I’m not too sure on my stance or have any ideas on the adults in tbp but I do headcannon Vance to dislike adults to a serious degree and it only gets worse after his kidnapping.

also i object to Some Desperate Glory's billing as a queer space opera. there are queer characters, and there are a couple of space opera elements. but what i expect from a book when i hear "queer space opera" is not what this book provides.

i know you can't really rely on how a book is marketed but if i was recommending this to a friend i would say it is much more "girl escapes cult" than "queer space opera"

It's the most annoying thing when you're writing in your second language and about a culture that you know the bare minimum of, because I'd go to google to search how to say this or that word in Scots and most of the results will either be "you probably meant Scottish Gaelic silly, here's how to say it in scottish gaelic 🥰" which mmmmmmmmh 🙂🙃🙂 fuck you google or worse : "Aww here's your results about the funny Scottish accent that for some reason people seem to think is a separate language from English entirely" which makes me wanna stab people 😀

And then there's the "oh no I forgot how to say this word in English, ok, I'll just have to translate it from my first language..... I forgot how to say it in my own language as well......" which is the biggest reason my werewolf fic is not finished yet, btw, because it makes me agonise over random words for hours... And I can't even find a synonym and look for synonyms of that word to find the original word I wanted because my word association is ✨weird✨ apparently

And now my biggest problem for my necromancer Soap au is about the culture, so if anyone has any sources on west central Scotland folklore, regarding folk medicine, specifically how they call women who take your pain away by touching you, I only find 'healer' when I search for it but it seems awfully broad and non poetic, in french they're called 'coupeurs de feu', which literally means 'people that cut fire' (implied : away from you), here the fire means the burning sensation of the pain, not necessarily a burn.
