i'd like to think no matter where he's at in his life, dottore likes to ramble as he works.
no matter if he's prime, or the more ill-tempered scholar from the akademiya or even omega build, dottore quietly mumbles as a habit when he's working.
some things he says aloud are just to commit certain details to memory. in the grander scheme of his plans, the details seem small-- but they hold a crucial grip on the entire project. because of this, dottore reasons that the habit holds its merits.
sometimes, he makes sarcastic remarks when something doesn't go well. short, choppy words that mostly go unheard even by those in his general vicinity. when you first worked under him, he had mumbled to himself like usual (it was second nature at that point). what he hadn't expected though, were your responses.
"stupid thing tightly screwed--"
"do you need a wrench, sir?"
before he could respond, you had one held and ready to hand to him. from then on, you would help him out here and there in his more foul moods and dottore would be lying if he said the additional assistance wasn't helpful.
the mad scientist had found an adequate assistant.
work went by smoother, toning down a good portion of his irritation. it's almost as if having someone to support you (even if it was strictly for work purposes) provided more benefits than he had originally thought. of course, he would never admit that. the most he would do is thank you here and there when you proved to be extra useful.
work continues the same for a while. the interactions grow more frequent and so his musings change from your responses. instead of talking to himself, he talks to you. he asks you for your input, for you to pass him whatever he can't reach from his other desk, he asks for you.
that is, until you're gone one day.
dottore doesn't think anything of it. he's worked alone for his whole life, what's a few days without you? but his segments have been more irritable as of late, resulting in lackluster performance as a whole not only from his segments, but his troops. the fatui are fearful of the doctor, but even more so of an irritated one. you'll turn up eventually and everything will be back to normal, he reasons.
but as the days go on, you are still nowhere to be found in the cold, desolate laboratory. he finally pauses in his work to think about where you could be.
something must've happened. something outside of his jurisdiction. it's not like it's his problem. you might've proved a useful assistant to him, but his work holds utmost priority.
yes, work. back to work.
and dottore mumbles as usual, but it's not the same.
by habit, he calls out for you to hand him something--
but you're not there.
dottore is a scholar first and foremost. all it takes to find you is a little bit of research, so he does exactly that. he finds out you've been working somewhere else, somewhere closer to home to better support your family.
well, that's no problem. he'll have his assistant back as soon as possible, no matter the cost. all he needed to know was your whereabouts.

the fact that buck didn't start smiling or try to play it off as a joke when eddie asked if he was okay. bc with maddie and the others he felt like he had to be okay FOR them. like they were waiting for him to fall apart but he just couldn't allow himself that, because no matter how much he loves them, he can never be truly vulnerable with them without feeling like a burden. but with eddie, he doesn't have that. eddie is his safe place, the person who has seen him at his worst and let buck see him at his worst. so no, he didn't play dying off as a joke bc this was eddie and eddie never needed him to pretend to be alright, he only needed him to be there, alive and with eddie. that's the difference.
it really boils down to buck saying "you don't need to pretend with me" in s5. because they don't, they really don't have to pretend with each other and now that eddie is in a better place he can recognize that and apply it to their relationship as well.

i'm late to the party but it's only hitting me now about the whole macs bf thing and i never won so hard bc the worst thing that could happen is dennis not caring at all about this and the best thing that could happen is dennis being annoyed about it and this is actually what we're getting like not even a middle ground, dennis is actually gonna have a problem with macs bf and this is the arc i always dreamed of. i need him to be the only one in the gang who doesn't like him and coming up with small excuses when the guy is actually okay but dennis is gonna find a way to look for things to hate about him that literally only he sees. and then the gang are gonna look at him like dude what are you talking about he's cool. then dennis might wanna take control of the situation and set mac up with someone else but then he doesn't like the other guy neither for no apparent reason and i don't care if they don't go any further bc we will know the real reason behind it. dennis has a full breakdown by the end of the season and tries to make this about smth else like he usually does (gang tends bar) but this time he's probably not revealing the real reason and it's okay. this might just confirm macdennis from dennis' side, this is all i need and nothing more (that's a lie i need to see them have raw sex in my screen but that's for another day)

Imagine there is an area in the library you and Binah often come to relax in. And you figured it would be nice to plant something in here to decorate it. And you just "happen" to also plant things she could use in tea making like lavender or mint.
Happy international tea day by the way.
i think the Library should have a greenhouse. just for fun
while the Library can technically manifest anything, it requires practice and a stable mind. fresh fruits and leaves and flowers don't do very well, so you've taken to growing your own after getting permission from Angela, scrounging a few seeds from around the Library and clearing out an empty room made of glass. it's slow going at first, with only a few sprouts to your name, but eventually your coworkers catch on and begin giving you any seeds they find and your garden begins flourishing. small tables appear for people to sit at and enjoy the foliage, inhaling the scent of herbs and flowers. you bring occasional bundles of tea supplies to Binah with a broad smile, saying that you had extra, and she looks at you with soft dark eyes and carefully takes them from your hand, brushing her hand against yours
you start finding packets of seeds waiting for you at a table in the corner of the room, tied with a silky black bow and accompanied by a steaming hot cup of tea, always in whatever blend you happened to give Binah that week

you know actually having ocd is so wild because people think you just like to have things neat and tidy but i'm sitting here thinking if the reason i'm currently depressed and having trouble sleeping is because of that one time i stabbed my chop sticks into my bowl of food and that's bad luck in japanese culture so now i'm paying for it
like i cannot stop thinking this, all while my room is a MESS
