I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause | Diavolo x Reader
Tumblr media
900+ words | GN reader | warnings: Diavolo and reader have a child
The towering pine tree shone brightly in the ballroom of the castle. Barbatos had given in this year to Diavolo’s pleas for an unreasonably large Christmas tree and now you both got to enjoy it reflecting the ornaments across the room.
“I told him it was worth it,” Diavolo, dressed as Santa, grinned proudly. Barbatos sighed and brought in the last stack of gifts you’d prepared for everyone.
“This is all of the gifts. Are you certain you won’t be needing my services anymore tonight, Young lord?” Barbatos asked Diavolo with a worried frown.
“Yes, ___ and I can handle the rest. You like organizing the gifts right?” Diavolo double-checked with you and you nodded enthusiastically.
Diavolo chuckled and Barbatos bowed and made a swift exit, ready to turn in for the night.
“Okay, so they’re in different wrapping paper for different people right?” Diavolo asked and you nodded and began sorting them.
“Where’s Luci’s pile?”
“The dark blue ones with peacock feathers.”
Diavolo started laughing and began to guess the others. “Golden ones for Mammon, Ruri-Chan for Levi, Christmas Cats for Satan….let’s see, the pink ones with kiss lip stains must be Asmo’s. Where did you find such perfect paper?” He asked as he looked everything over.
“The internet.”
“Yes that would make sense…no food ones for Beel?”
“Not all his stuff is food and we don’t want him eating it. The perishables are in the walk-in freezer.”
Diavolo nodded, agreeing with your choice. “So…his paper must be Devilcat? Wise decision! He truly loves that mascot, doesn’t he? And Belphie here must be the clouds, right?” He continued talking to himself as he delighted in the choices of wrapping paper.
He burst into laughter as you handed him one of Luke’s gifts, wrapped in chihuahuas of course.
“Thirteen is the octopus one, Solomon is the magic wands, Raphael is the music notes, Simeon is the quills, Mephistopheles is the My Little Pony—“
“Bahahahahahaha,” Diavolo burst into laughter strong enough that tears streamed down his cheeks.
“Lastly, Barbatos is the British tea set paper, mine is the royal cats, yours are the cutesy animals, and—“
You reached for a gift simultaneously, touching hands. You smiled and took the gift and placed it in the nicest pile. “And these, are Chao’s.”
Diavolo smiled and pulled you into his chest as you sat on the large tree skirt.
“He’s gonna love them,” Diavolo smiled and kissed your forehead.
“It’ll be hard to top Barbatos, I don’t know how he does it,” you sighed. Chao may be yours and Diavolo’s son but every year Barbatos seemed to outshine the two of you gift-wise.
“Barbatos is still hiding his gifts in his room for Christmas morning,” Diavolo shook his head. “He really won’t give us a chance to outdo him, will he?”
You shook your head in agreement, “he’s currying favor already,” you joked and Diavolo laughed and kissed the back of your neck.
You eyed Diavolo up and down, letting your eyes linger long enough for him to notice and he grinned playfully.
“Done delivering gifts for the night?” You asked him sweetly and he nodded, got to his feet, and pulled you up with him.
“There’s just one more thing I want to do for the very special person at the top of my nice list,” he whispered into your ear. “Can you guess what that is?”
You blushed and nodded, “I think I can.”
Diavolo leaned in to kiss you when you both heard an ornament jingle and fall to the floor. Diavolo turned around to investigate and you followed but saw nothing.
Diavolo smirked and chuckled. “I think someone’s being naughty, should we go and see?” He asked and you shook your head.
“No, I’d rather have Santa to myself right now,” you teased and he nodded eagerly as you both left to your room.
Meanwhile, Barbatos, settling into bed was disturbed by the tapping of quick footsteps and loud banging on his door. He sighed, slipped on his shoes, and opened the door to see Chao looking frantic. His eyes shone like his mother’s and his hair was red and messy like his father’s.
“Oh my, whatever are you doing up at this hour Young prince?” Barbatos asked, feigning concern.
“Out there! Out there! It’s Mommy,” he sputtered in between gasps. Barbatos picked up Chao and prepared to investigate when Chao revealed his secret, “Mommy was kissing Santa! I saw it! We have to tell Daddy!”
Barbatos stopped in his tracks and started laughing. “Oh my, is that what happened? Don’t worry, I’m sure Daddy doesn’t mind a greeting kiss.”
Chao looked even more concerned, “Does Daddy like that kind of stuff?”
Barbatos’s eye twitched. “Whatever could you mean by that…”
“Uncle Asmo said—“ Barbatos covered Chao’s mouth.
“Listen to me Chao, this is very important.” Chao nodded, hand still over his mouth. “We will never ever listen to anything Uncle Asmo tells us. Understood?” Chao nodded again. “And if Uncle Asmo tells you anything weird, come tell me, okay?”
Chao nodded again and Barbatos took his hand away. “Now then, why don’t we get you back to bed, we have a busy day tomorrow, six of your uncles will be here for their gifts from you and we want you looking your best.”
“Don’t you mean seven uncles?”
“No, I meant six. Now let’s tuck you into bed little one. it’s nearly Christmas Day.”

make it with love
Jack Hughes x Reader
W/C: about 1k
Notes: saw an Instagram post asking women what their most dramatic moments in pregnancy and decided to write this based off one that I saw that made me giggle.
As always, be kind! Constructive criticism is always welcome! Wage peace xx
*
You and Jack had found out you were pregnant nearly 7 months ago now, which means you were close to the end of your pregnancy. Despite the physical and emotional difficulties of this journey, Jack had been your rock. He was truly the most attentive and magical boyfriend in the world. He always tried to accommodate to your needs even when you were being a hormonal mess crying about the smell of coffee and the fact that the taco bell worker put sour cream in your tacos when you hate sour cream. He’d switched to drinking tea at your first complaint and ordered you more tacos immediately just to make you happy. You loved him so much. He meant the world.
However, sometimes you took advantage of your lovely boyfriend’s willingness to please you and begged him for every craving you desired, and he obliged with little complaint. Except for tonight.
You had both gone to bed four hours ago, the clock reading 2:42am last time you looked to check. But you couldn’t sleep. Your thoughts were consumed by the delicious grilled cheese sandwich Jack made for you at least once every two weeks. It was your favourite food ever, just because he made it. It was special because it was just for you. No one else got to taste the delicacy that was your boyfriends secret sandwich making talent and there was nothing you desired more in this moment.
You decided you couldn’t take it anymore and rolled over propping yourself up on the side with your elbow, admiring the sleeping beauty before you and lightly rubbing your belly. Him and his little girl were going to be inseparable, and he was going to be the best father. You could feel it in you bones and you could feel your baby moving towards his touch every time he touched your belly. You lightly brushed the messy curls from his beautiful face and let your touch linger on his cheek. His slight stirring reminded you of why you had turned around in the first place and you shook his shoulder lightly, “J, baby?” you whispered into the darkness.
“Hmm...” he replied, his eyes still shut. You prodded him again and said his name once more, in a slightly whinier tone. He let out a huff and moved to prop himself up. With a sleepy voice he asked, “What do you need, baby?” while he admired the features on your face.
With a shy smile you quietly made your request. “Please will you make me one of your grilled sandwiches I’m starving and have been craving one all night. Please Baby” you plead with him, stroking his cheek as you asked knowing physical touch is his weakness.
He let out a heavy sigh and stood up, pulling some sweats on, “This is so annoying, baby, its literally nearly three in the morning” he continued as he walked out of the door presumable to the kitchen. Suddenly you felt a pang of guilt in your heart. You were sad that he was annoyed at you and wished you’d just let him sleep and deal with the craving instead of bothering him. Some time had passed where you continued to sit on your shared bed and feel guilty when he walked back into the room still with a slightly annoyed look on his face and placed the plate down on the table and stood with his hands on his hips waiting for you to eat.
You looked at the plate of food and then back at his face and all of a sudden it was too much. Out of no where your lip started trembling and your eyes glassed over as you held the tears in. jack, being the gorgeous boyfriend he is, was quick to notice the sadness in your eyes and his expression morphed into that of concern as he inched closer to you, sitting on the bed. Seeing his face change, you burst into tears, immediately covering your face with your hands, and moving away from the comfort jack was trying to give you as to not burden him anymore.
“Hey. Hey Baby... what’s wrong lovely?” he coaxed as he gently tugged your arms away from your face and pulled you into a tender embrace. You continued to sob in his arms as he tried again to get an answer out of you. “Please baby, tell me what I did wrong.”
You looked at him and then at the sandwich on the table as you continued to sniffle. “It’s not special anymore,” you answered. “You were annoyed with me, so it wasn’t made with love which is what makes it so special to me.” At you confession your tears began again, and you covered your face with your hands again to hide from Jack who had begun laughing at your antics.
“Baby.” He began, “baby, look at me.” And you did. He had a soft smile on his face as he wiped your tears away. “I made it with so much love. So much. My heart is overflowing with admiration and adoration for you and our girl, and I would happily do anything to make your life a little easier while you’re growing our princess in there.” He wiped away all remaining tears from your face and handed you half of the sandwich.
You took a bite and immediately sagged back against the headboard and closed your eyes in contentment. It was the most beautiful, love filled sandwich you had ever tasted in your life, and you couldn’t get enough you only allowed Jack one small bite as you wanted the whole thing to yourself.
Once you were finished you both laid back in bed, you cuddled into his side trying not to irritate him with your bump. You sighed again, this time in bliss as you revelled in your boyfriend’s love. “I really do love you; you know. I can’t wait to start our family together, J.”
At your words he leaned down and kissed you gently. “I love you too, more than anything. Both of you” and as he said the last part, he rubbed the swell of your belly and you both fell back to sleep.

PART 10 | meet me in the afterglow
FOUR MONTHS LATER
Your walk to work was chilly enough to warrant a coat. That was perhaps the thing you missed least about home in the U.S. - even though the winters certainly got cold here, it was nowhere near the sub-zero temperatures you had grown up with during the coldest time of year. Maybe the only thing you missed was snow - in all of your time living here, you had only gotten a brief dusting once, and it had melted by the following day.
Still, a week out from Christmas, you now needed to wrap something warm around yourself as you walked down the street, heading closer to the city center as your shift was due to start.
You were technically two minutes late to your shift, the coffee shop busy enough to have a line going out the door when you arrived. Yet, your manager Francesco said nothing - a small spark of joy in your day.
You didn’t necessarily need to go back to work - Steve’s money had yet to run out. But, you felt good about earning your own money - and, the less you had to draw on his remaining funds, the less you had to think about him.
You hadn’t seen or spoken to Steve since the night of your argument. Well, that was only partially true - you had received one piece of communication from him. It came a few days later - you had been moping in your apartment, having barely left your room for days, when an envelope arrived. It had his familiar writing and wax seal, with another wad of cash and a letter made out to you:
I promise this is the last you’ll hear from me. I am a man of my word, so I promise to help provide for you until you’re finished with school. I’ll be transferring enough money to your account to cover all of your expenses, so no need to worry about your rent, food, anything of the sort… I really do want you to be able to focus on school, okay? So, please don’t protest, or try to send the money back. Please feel free to use the credit card if you need to.
I’m sorry it ended this way. We both knew it was going to, but I apologize if I said anything out of line the other night. I truly do wish you the best.
Take care,
Steve
Reading it had been a punch to the gut. The formality of it, the finality of it… you would’ve rather that you never heard from him again. You had stashed the letter in a box under your bed, and not looked at it since.
A few weeks after that, you had pregnancy scare. It was silly, really - but, your period was late, and if was the first conclusion your mind had jumped to. You had called Robin in a panic, begging her to come home - she did, with four different brands of pregnancy tests. Those 15 minutes of waiting for results were the most agonizing of your life - then, upon seeing them all negative, you fell to your knees and burst into tears.
“It’s okay,” Robin had cooed, rubbing soothing circles on your back. “You’re good it was a false alarm - you’re probably just late because of stress -”
“I know,” you sobbed. “I just -”
“What is it?”
You then had sat up, chest heaving as you sobbed.
“He’s really gone isn’t he?”
Robin held you in her arms that night as you cried yourself to sleep.
To your knowledge now, he had gone back to the U.S. - was he still in Chicago? Or, did he go back to New York? You realized it was better for you to not ask these questions, or to think of him at all. As the weeks had turned into months, you found yourself thinking of him a little less each day - but you still thought of him. You saw him in the passersby as you walked down the street, in every car window, in every businessman walking through the door to order a coffee. Sometimes, you’d hear a laugh, or get a brief whiff of cigarette smoke, and swear it was him. But it never was - it never would be again.
The days had dragged on, but luckily, you often found yourself too busy to dwell too much on thoughts of Steve. Between work and school, your plate was pretty full. With graduation in mere weeks, you had spent the entire term studying and working on your thesis. Steve’s remaining money, at least, allowed you to work far less hours than you had before - a small blessing, you supposed.
The day was moving pretty quickly, the morning rush busy enough that two hours flew by without much notice. It was only during the afternoon lull that you found yourself able to look up from the espresso machine - only to lock eyes with a familiar face through the window.
Eddie smiled back at you, waving. You couldn’t help but grin, and beckoned him to come inside. He bounded through the glass doors, bursting into the coffee shop with the infectious, chaotic energy he always carries with him.
“Bella, how are you?” he asked, leaning over the counter with a big grin.
“I’m okay,” you said, shrugging.
He raised an eyebrow.
“Just okay?”
“Oh well - you know, a bit stressed with the end of term and all. But, that’ll all be over soon.”
“I’m almost done, too - just finishing up my exams, all of that nonsense.”
“Do you have someone for your thesis?”
You nodded. “Professor Hopper - he’s always had a soft spot for me,” you said, smiling fondly, thinking of the seemingly-gruff.
“I have Clarke - I don’t actually know how much he knows about photography, he teaches chemistry for godsake, but apparently it’s a hobby or something, so he’ll sign off on whatever I do,” Eddie said, laughing.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you - I actually have my own studio space now.”
“What? Eddie, that’s amazing!”
He grinned. “Thanks - I mean, I’m still technically freelance, but I’m hoping once I’m fully graduated more work will start coming in. But for now, I don’t mind having some spare time to practice with the band.”
You did your best to stop yourself from rolling your eyes.
“Right - don’t forget me when you make it as a big rockstar, Eddie.”
He let out a hearty laugh at that, the infectious kind that had you joining in - you hadn’t laughed like that in quite some time.
“You know, you should come by later to check it out,” Eddie said. “I mean, if you want -”
You thought for a moment, then nodded.
“Sure, why not - I get off in about a half hour -”
“Perfect,” he cried, clapping his hands together. “I’ll just wait around then - and, uh, can I get an espresso? Since I’m already here and all.”
You rolled your eyes, fighting a smile.
“Yeah, sure thing Munson - I’ll take my sweet time with it, just for you.”
The end of your shift flew by, and soon enough you were pulling off your apron, linking your arm in Eddie’s as he led you out the door and through the city.
The studio, as it turned out, was only a few blocks away. The space was small, but nice - a big glass storefront allowed plenty of light in, even with the fading sun, indicative of the short days of winter. Some of Eddie’s work hung framed on the walls - city scenes, candids of people on the street, bands in action at his favorite club… and even a few of you, from the project you posed for a few years ago.
“Wow - this is amazing, Eddie!” you exclaimed, glancing around the studio with genuine pride for your friend. You knew this was always the goal for him, what he always wanted to do.
“Grazie mille,” he said, beaming.
“Do you have anything lined up?”
He nodded.
“Some - nothing too interesting. A few weddings, graduation photoshoots, things like that. Oh, do you want to see the photo lab?”
You let him lead the way into the back room, passing through a dimly-lit room with machines and equipment that you were sure you had no idea how to use. Newly developed photos were hanging around on clothespins, or spread across the table in the middle.
“Back there is the darkroom,” Eddie said, gesturing to a small door on the other side of the room. “But yeah, this is where the magic happens.”
“You develop all your pictures this way?” you asked, examining a few laid across the table.
He shook his head. “Not exactly - only the stuff I shoot on film. A lot of what I do is digital, and I edit that on my computer but… I really do love shooting film. I only really do that for specific things. Oh, which reminds me!”
He turned his back to you, rummaging through a filing cabinet until he produced a large manila envelope, extending it to you. You furrowed your brow, confused. You turned it to examine it properly - the only thing written on it was your name and a date, in Eddie’s telltale scrawl.
“What -”
“It’s those pictures I owe you, from your birthday party - sorry, it took me a while to get around to developing them.”
Oh.
“Oh,” you said quietly, gripping the envelope a bit tighter. “Uh, thanks - that was really nice of you, Eddie.”
You were still staring down at the parcel in your hands, your hands shaking a bit - you had completely forgotten that Eddie had been taking pictures all night. Most likely because you had been a bit distracted at the time. But now…
“I think they turned out pretty nice, if you ask me,” Eddie said. “But, you can be the judge of that yourself.”
You pressed your mouth into a tight line, nearly feigning a smile as you finally met his eyes again. He was looking back expectantly, and you realized he wanted you to look at them now.
“Oh, yeah,” you mumbled. “I guess I’ll just -”
You opened it up, sliding out the stack of photos - they were slightly bigger than the ones you had seen from a digital camera, on a beautiful matte paper that you knew must have not been cheap. This, you realized, was Eddie’s belated birthday gift to you.
You thumbed through the pictures - the first few were just candids of your friends on the dancefloor, or deep in conversation around the bar. There were a few of you and Robin, arms thrown around each other and smiling ear-to-ear.
There were quite a few solo shots of you, raising a glass to the camera, mid-laugh, or dancing - somehow, he had made it look like you truly were the center of attention, as if to tell people this is who we were there for!
You couldn’t help but smile to yourself, laughing quietly at a few of the shots, including one of Robin flipping off the camera as she kisses Vickie. Then, your smile dropped, because there he was.
Steve, looking as handsome as you remembered, but somehow also a stranger, or like a figment of your imagination. Somehow, a small part of your subconscious had convinced you over the last few months that perhaps he wasn’t real, a true figment of your imagination that had been too good to be true. But there he was, large as life, his arm wrapped around you as you smiled into the camera. You were smiling in his arms, a girl completely unrecognizable in some ways. In another photo, he’s pressing a kiss to your cheek as you laugh - you remembered that one being taken, that’s for sure. You gently trailed your fingers across the picture, as if you were hoping to reach in and pull that happy girl out, just to shake a bit of sense into her. You didn’t even realize you were crying until a fat wet teardrop his the page, rolling down and off the edge.
“Whoa - are you alright?” Eddie asked, his voice tinged with worry.
You jumped, having nearly forgotten that he was there at all. How long had you been staring at the pictures of Steve? For a few minutes, or hours? There was no way to know.
“Yeah, I’m good,” you said, the thickness in your voice betraying you. You pressed the heels of your hands under your eyes, willing the gentle tears to stop, sniffling.
“What’s wrong?” Eddie asked softly.
You laughed dryly, more hot tears welling up as you did.
“Nothing! I - they’re beautiful, Eddie. Really - thank you. You - you’ve really got a talent.”
Your voice wobbled a bit at the end, and you sniffled.
“I’m sorry, I - it’s nothing to do with you,” you assured him. “I just - I’ve been having a hard time lately.”
Eddie cocked his head, confused. Then, his eyes flitted down to the picture in your hands.
“Oh - I’m sorry, I - is this about him?” Eddie asked quietly, gesturing to the photos. You just nodded, avoiding his gaze again as you stuffed them back into the envelope.
“I didn’t know you two had broken up, I’m sorry -”
“We didn’t break up!” you snapped, harsher than intended. “Fuck, I - sorry, that came out wrong. We didn’t break up, because we were never exactly together. It’s just complicated.”
Eddie furrowed his brow. “Yeah, okay - well, I’m sorry to hear about your not-breakup. I guess I’m just a little surprised.”
“Why’s that?” you asked.
He shrugged. “I spent a long time looking at all of those when I was developing them - you know how they say pictures tell a thousand words?”
You nodded.
“Well - I take pictures of a lot of couples - weddings, engagement shoots, all of that… and I’ve never seen two people more in love than you two.”
You felt your chest tighten - maybe you were being a lovesick idiot at your party, but Steve?
You shook your head. “No - Eddie, it… it wasn’t like that. I can promise you that.”
Steve made that perfectly clear.
Eddie shrugged again. “I’m just telling you what I observed, that’s all.”
“Well maybe you should mind your business,” you grumbled.
Fuck. You shouldn’t have said that.
Eddie’s face fell a bit, and he slowly took a step back, hands shoved in his pockets.
“My apologies,” he whispered. He was hurt, that much was obvious. You mentally kicked yourself.
“No Eddie - I’m sorry, I didn’t -”
You sighed, frustrated.
“Things have been, like, really weird the last few months and… it doesn’t matter.”
“I could tell,” he said, voice quiet. “You’ve been.. Distant.”
You nodded, the awkwardness filling the space between you two. You had fucked this up too, somehow.
“So,” you said, clearing your throat. “Uh, it’s getting late, and dark… I probably should head home.”
“Yeah, okay - good idea, I have some stuff to work on anyway.”
You both nodded, avoiding eye contact as you both headed out back into the studio.
It wasn’t until you were at the door that you turned to face Eddie again.
“The place really is beautiful… I’m proud of you,” you said sincerely. He offered a small smile in return.
“Thanks.”
“I also - the pictures are beautiful. Thank you for these, I - they’re great.”
“I’m sorry if they -”
“Don’t apologize,” you said firmly. “They’re great - you’ve really got a gift, you know.”
You could tell Eddie was fighting a real smile, a small win in your book.
“C’mon, you know my ego’s just fine on its own.”
You laughed, and without thinking, pulled him into a tight hug.
“I’m sorry I lost it a little earlier,” you whispered.
“It’s alright,” he said, pulling away. “Heartbreak is funny like that.”
You decided not to bother protesting his assessment this time, too tired to start a fight again just to feel something.
“Right, okay.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to take out the photos with… him?” Eddie asked, gesturing down to the envelope.
“No, that’s alright - I’m a big girl, I can go through them. I’m definitely going to hang a few of these up though, so thanks again.”
“Take good care of yourself darling, alright? And come by any time - for any reason.”
It was an olive branch, an assurance that things were okay. You forced a smile, nodding.
“Thanks, Eddie - you’re a great friend, you know.”
You bid your farewells, and left the studio with a strange feeling settling within you. You pulled your coat a little tighter around you, stuffing the envelope underneath as you charged through the chilly evening air to the nearest bus stop.
You didn’t get home until nearly 6pm, the winter sky fully dark by then. By the time you walked a few blocks and up the stairs to your apartment, your face was stinging from the cold, the wind picking up more since that afternoon.
Robin was on the couch, a rerun of Friends playing on the TV.
“Hey! You’re back kind of late,” she remarked.
“Yeah - I ran into Eddie, funnily enough,” you replied, hoping you sounded nonchalant.
“Oh really? How is he? I miss him - we should really make a plan to hang out with him soon -”
“Yeah, for sure,” you said, kicking off your shoes and hanging your coat on the rack. “He’s good - I saw his new studio, it’s nice.”
“Oh, no way! That’s great - I need to go sometime -”
“Yeah, totally,” you said, absentminded. “Uh, I’ve got some stuff to do, but I’ll be out here later -”
“Maybe we can get takeout or something -”
“Yeah, perfect -” you tittered, closing your bedroom door behind you, eyes on the envelope in your hands.
You bit your lip, debating what to do. Part of you considered finding all of the pictures of Steve, and burning them. But, that felt a bit dramatic. You pulled out the stack again, sifting through until you found the shots of him. You couldn’t help but smile, looking at how happy the girl in the photos was - if only she knew how quickly things would fall apart that night. The photo of Steve kissing you cheek was your favorite - it was just full of pure, unbridled joy. The one after that was the one you stared at for quite some time, though. You were looking into the camera, grinning widely. Steve, however, wasn’t - no, he was looking at you. You stared at him for quite some time - and remembered Eddie’s words.
I’ve never seen two people more in love than you two.
You had thought it was crazy - but, in the picture, Steve was looking at you like you’d hung the stars. Like, if he didn’t have you, he’d be lost. He was looking at you with eyes full of love - you just hadn’t been looking.
You gasped, realizing what Eddie had seen that you couldn’t - maybe everything had meant more to Steve than he had let on. No, that was crazy - wasn’t it?
What happened next didn’t have much explanation - it was probably crazy. You found yourself Googling Steve’s company headquarters in Chicago - it couldn’t be this easy, could it? But it was.
A quick call through the directory brought you to his secretary, a bubbly woman who was more than happy to help. You pretended to be the secretary of a business partner you had remembered Steve mentioning, saying how you wanted to send a thank-you gift - it had been too easy to get his home address, really. And, a confirmation that he was back in Chicago.
The next morning, you sent out an envelope, sticking on international postage. You debated not putting your name on the return address, but ultimately decided to include it - he’d recognize the address anyway. When you dropped it at the post office, you walked away feeling a sense of relief - and, perhaps, just a bit unhinged. TIme would tell if anything came of it. But, at the very least, it felt like finally closing the chapter of your life that had been defined by Steve Harrington. And, that was a good thing… right?
********
The day before Christmas Eve, you received great news: confirmation that you had passed all of your exams, your thesis receiving glowing feedback from the professors in your department. Your degree, which studied Art History and Travel and Tourism Management, meant that you would actually be able to stay here - you hoped to work in tourism in some way right here in Rome, or perhaps work in one of the city’s many museums - being bilingual would help, and more importantly, it meant you never had to set foot back in the United States again, if you didn’t want.
Christmas brought its usual cheer and celebration, complete with mulled wine and a potluck dinner you and Robin held for some of the other foreign students you were friendly with, knowing they didn’t have families to go to for the holidays. Your graduation only brought extra festivities, including a speech prepared by Robin given as a toast at dinner, saying how proud she was of you (and, how jealous she was that you didn’t have to worry about schoolwork anymore). It was silly yet sincere enough to make you tear up and pull her into a big hug. Eddie and Jonathan even swung by for a bit, joining in on the celebration until the wee hours of the morning. Robin and Vickie were all over each otherYou ate and drank to your heart’s content before stumbling to bed, leaving cleanup in the kitchen for the morning.
The morning of Boxing Day, it turned out, was actually the afternoon, with you and Robin oversleeping. You, to your own relief, felt tired, but not too hungover - the same couldn’t be said for Robin and Vickie, who stumbled into the kitchen with grimaces on their faces and grumbles as a greeting.
You spent most of the day cleaning up from the last two days’ festivities, washing dishes and clearing away wrapping paper, wiping countertops and vacuuming just enough until your home felt semi-in order.
You were still in your pajamas as it was getting dark again in the evening, a rarity these days. When Robin said she was heading out to dinner with Vickie and likely would be staying at her place that night, you bid her farewell, looking forward to some time alone to fully relax and unwind.
It was several hours later, after scrounging together a dinner of Christmas leftovers and half-dozing on the couch while a movie played, that your doorbell rang. You sat up with a start, your heart jumping at the unexpected intrusion. You stumbled to the door, grumbling about who could possibly be here at this hour - maybe Robin decided to come back after all, and got locked out again? You were ready to playfully ridicule her when you opened the door. But when you saw who was standing on the other side, you froze.
Steve Harrington was there on your doorstep, barely illuminated in the dim light. His chest was heaving, his hair just a bit disheveled. His eyes widened when he saw you, and you imagined you did the same. Your heart plummeted to your stomach at the sight of him, so real and alive in front of you. Were you dreaming? Was this some sick prank?
Neither of you said anything for a moment, two mouths hanging open, searching for the words.
“It’s Christmas,” you blurted out, the first words you’ve said to him in over four months.
“It’s December 26th,” he replied, simply and casually.
“I - well, it’s still a holiday, kind of.”
“Yeah, I know - do you know how hard it is to catch a last-minute flight on Christmas?”
You just stood there in the doorway, unable to think of anything else to say - what the fuck?
“What are you doing here?” you asked, words biting. You were lashing out a bit, but you didn’t care - this moment right now reminded you of a similar one over the summer, when he came to your doorstep to explain how he wasn’t engaged. What was his excuse now?
“Why did you send me this?” he asked, holding up a familiar envelope - the photo.
Why did you? You weren’t certain of that answer yourself. So, you went with the first explanation that came to your head.
“It’s a good picture of you,” you said quietly.
He rolled his eyes.
“Do not - I don’t hear from you for months, then I get this in the mail - on Christmas Eve, mind you -”
“I’m sorry, were you supposed to hear from me?”
“I don’t know!” he cried. “Maybe?”
You scoffed. “You can’t be serious - you made it very clear that you never wanted to see me again.”
“I - what?”
“I wish you well? Take care? We ended things, Steve - what else was I meant to think?”
He sighed, his shoulders sagging.
“I don’t know. I guess part of me - it doesn’t matter. But, what am I supposed to make of this?” he asks, waving the envelope.
“I - Eddie gave me a bunch of pictures he took at my birthday party… I thought maybe you’d want that one.”
He took a tentative step closer towards you, gauging your reaction. You held your ground, not breaking eye contact.
“Is that the only reason?” he asked, voice low.
You felt your heartbeat quicken, your palms clammy - he really was just so handsome. Still, there was something so boyish about him, something that reminded you of why you fell for him in the first place. He had cut his hair a bit, his summer tan faded - and he looked tired. Then again, you probably did too - you suddenly became conscious of the fact that you were in your pajamas, still looking like you had just woken up - you wished you could disappear, never to be perceived again.
“Yeah,” you whispered. “The only reason.”
He was close enough now that you could see his Adam’s Apple bob as he gulped, his eyes glancing up and down your form as he took a deep breath.
“Tell me that, when you sent this, there wasn’t at least a small part of you that hoped I’d respond - that, when you sent this, you hoped I’d call, or show up here. If there wasn’t, I’ll walk away right now, and you’ll never have to see me again.”
There it was - everything laid out on the table. So much was still unsaid - but, it was obvious that he also had been hurting the last few months, that he didn’t want this to end, maybe even nearly as much as you did.
“You really flew all the way here because I sent you a photo?” you whispered.
He nodded. “Of course I did.”
“You realize how crazy that is, right?”
He chuckled dryly.
“Well, they do say it makes you do crazy things.”
“...it?” you asked, voice wavering.
He nodded.
Oh.
“Come inside,” you murmured. “It’s pretty cold out there.”
As soon as the door was shut behind him, he began spiraling into a new explanation.
“I hope you know that I didn’t come here just to - you’re right, it is kind of crazy, but I didn’t know what else to do, after everything that happened -”
“I don’t want to talk about this anymore,” you said, cutting him off. “I don’t want to talk at all.”
You both stood there for a moment, eyes locked on eachother. Then, as if reading each other’s minds, you both moved at once - you crashed your lips into his, fast and desperate. He sighed against your lips, pulling you close as his tongue slipped into your mouth.
You felt like crying - you had missed him so much, more than you had realized - his voice, his warmth, his scent - it brought everything flooding back, the feelings you had buried in an attempt at self-preservation. But now, as you kissed him, you felt the tears well up, stinging your eyes as they rolled down your face, hot and fast.
“Whoa - baby, it’s okay - what’s wrong -”
Baby.
“Nothing,” you cried, wiping the tears away. “I just - I really fucking missed you.”
You felt stupid to admit it, but then again, didn’t he come close to confessing that himself just a few moments ago?
“I know, I know, baby - you have no fuckin’ idea -”
Another kiss, passionate and apologetic.
“I didn’t mean any of what I said that night,” you gasped, pulling him closer. “I was just so scared -”
“I know, me too, baby - m’sorry -”
Baby. Babybabybaby.
He was holding your face between his hands now, backing you up until you were pressed against the wall, his lips finding yours again. He titled his head down to nuzzle at your throat, pressing his lips to the sensitive skin there. You tipped your head back, giving him full access to do as he pleased. He kissed and nipped at your neck, until you were moaning and crying out his name, pulling at his coat until it fell off of his shoulders. You twisted your hands in his button-down, his hands squeezing tighter on your waist in response.
“Fuck, Steve,” you breathed. “I’m sorry -”
“Stop with that,” he said, firmly taking your face in his hands again, catching your lips in another gentle kiss. “You’re right, I just realy don’t want to talk anymore -”
Then he was kissing you again, swallowing your noises as you whined his name, fingers gripping his hair.
“Bedroom, now,” you told him. “Please -”
“Yeah, okay.”
He couldn’t keep his hands off of you, both of you stumbling down the small hallway and into your bedroom, Steve slamming the door closed behind him with his foot.
“No Robin?” he asked, lips finding your neck again.
“No - ah! She’s at Vickie’s tonight -”
“Thank Christ,” he growled. “I don’t know how quiet I’m capable of being right now.”
He was apparently as desperate as you were, lips finding yours hungrily as he pulled your oversized t-shirt over your head, eyes practically rolling to the back of his head when he saw your breasts.
“No bra?” he asked.
“I was lounging around, until you showed up -”
“Thank god,” he practically snarled, his hands finding the small of your back to pull you close.
You reached between yourselves, unbuttoning his shirt, fingers slipping as they shook with anticipation. He reached down to help you, until he eventually shrugged the shirt off. You wrapped your arms around him, pressing your bare chest to his, nearly crying again from the contact.
“I really missed you,” he whispered, a man ruined. “I never thought I’d be able to have you like this again -”
“None of that,” you murmured, pressing a finger to his lips. “It’s alright.”
You just stared at him, running your hands down his chest as you took a deep breath.
“I need to tell you something.”
“What is it?” he asked, face flickering with concern. “Oh god, are - are you seeing someone else? I didn’t even ask -”
“No! No, nothing like that,” you assured, biting your lip. “I just - do you remember the night of my birthday on our trip, on the rooftop?”
He nodded. “That was a really nice night.”
“I haven’t been totally honest with you,” you admitted, heart racing as you were ready to lay out the thing you had been terrified to admit aloud.
“About what?” he asked softly, cupping your cheek gently with his palm.
“Remember when I said something in Italian, and you asked what it meant? And I just said it meant I loved the gift, the star thing?”
He nodded. You took a deep, shuddering breath.
“That wasn’t exactly true. I - I said that I was in love with you,” you managed, voice quivering at the end. “That’s why I was so scared - I didn’t realize until I said it… I had broken our rule, our number one rule -”
“Hey, hey -” he cooed, shaking his head. “Did you mean it?”
You hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah - I still do.”
The few seconds that passed after that had your stomach doing somersaults - what if he still didn’t feel that way, and everything he had said in the doorway was bullshit? You thought you were going to be sick -
But his face softened, his eyes glistening - was he going to cry?
“Fuck the rules. I stopped following those a long time ago,” he said.
Your heart fluttered, your face heating.
“Are you saying -”
“How did you say it in Italian again?” he asked. “I’m sorry, I’ve been slacking on my lessons without you around.”
You laughed. “Oh, um, it’s sono innamorato di te. It translates directly as I’m in love with you, or I’m falling for you.”
He nodded. “Well then - sono innamorato di te.”
You felt like your chest was about to explode, and before you knew it, you were crying again. He was too, you realized, his cheeks glistening with tears as he choked a sob with laughter.
“We could’ve saved ourselves a lot of trouble if we both just said that in the first place,” he said, reaching to wipe away some of your tears.
“How long?” you asked.
“Since the night of the gala I brought you to. So… longer. I guess I win.”
You sobbed again, Steve swallowing the sound with another kiss. It’s wet and salty with tears, a mess of apologies and confessions.
“Steve - I -”
“I know, baby,” he whispered, kissing your salty cheeks. “It’s alright - I’m here now -”
The conversation truly stopped after that - you couldn’t keep your hands off of one another, shedding clothes until you were nude and devouring each other with desperation unlike anything you had ever felt before.
Steve was pressing his lips between your breasts when you asked, voice breathy and filled with need.
“Steve - I need you, please -”
“Mm - yeah, okay -”
Before he could move, you were reaching down to grasp his cock in your hand. He gasped, pupils blown as his head thumped back against the wall. The noise that came out of him was unholy, wrecked and ruined as you brushed your thumb along his leaking tip.
“Christ, baby -”
“Can I suck you off, please?” you asked, desperate to make him come undone.
“Honey - you can’t - I just, I wanna fuck you so bad… I won’t last if I let you get your mouth on me, baby.”
You pouted, even as your heart raced with the thrill of knowing you’d have him inside you again.
“Next time,” he said, “I swear.”
A promise of a next time, of a thousand more times - you started kissing him again, lips bruising his - losing yourself in any drink or drug would never compared to losing yourself in Steve Harrington, you decided.
“Get on the bed,” he muttered, gently pushing you back. You did as he asked, falling back onto the mattress gently as he joined you, face hovering inches from yours.
His hair was a mess, pupils blown and lips glossy. He just shook his head, as if in disbelief.
“What?” you asked.
“You’re just so beautiful,” he breathed.
You felt your face heat, and you buried your face in your hands.
“Shut up.”
“About you? Not likely.”
Before you could come up with a clever remark, he was kissing your neck again, his lips traveling down slowly between the valley of your breasts, taking his time - he was going to leave bruises, you already knew.
But he didn’t stop, traveling down, down, down -
“What are you -”
“I never said I didn’t want to taste you first,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to your inner thigh. “I miss having my mouth on you so fuckin’ much -”
“Fuck,” you gasped. “You’re unreal -”
“Says you,” he retorted. Whatever you planned to say next died on your lips, anything resembling a coherent thought dissolving as his lips found your cunt.
“Oh my god,” you groaned, back arching as his tongue swirled around your clit.
“Just as fuckin’ sweet as I remembered,” he whispered, his breath against your pussy making your chest heave.
He licked a stripe along your slit, making your back arch off the bed, your eyes fluttering closed.
“Be loud for me, baby,” he murmured, lips finding your clit again. You did as he asked, moaning and crying out his name as he devoured your pussy, eliciting desperate sounds from you as your fingers wound themselves in his hair. He groaned as you pulled on his locks, encouraging you to continue doing so as he opted to slide a finger inside you.
“Fuck - Steve! Ohmygod, fuck -”
You felt him smile as he lapped and licked at your folds, adding a second finger and beginning to pump them in earnest, finding that spot inside of you too easily.
You were crying out, bucking your hips against Steve’s lips, like putty in his hands. For about ten minutes you were completely his, mind numb with pleasure as he took you apart with his mouth. You let him, feeling the blunt fingernails of his free hand digging into your thigh, pulling you as close as possible.
“Steve - I’m gonna - I’m so close, y’feel too good -”
Encouraged, he picked up the pace a bit, sending you completely over the edge. When you came, you saw stars, grinding down on Steve’s mouth and fingers. You were screaming, and he helped you through it, nuzzling against your core as you pulsed around his fingers. Your hand left his hair and found his temple, gently coaxing him closer as you rode out your orgasm.
You were still breathing heavily as he kissed his way slowly back up your body, worshiping every inch of skin he could find. YOu didn’t let your eyes open again until he was face-to-face with you, chin glistening with your release as he wore a smug grin.
“Such a good girl for me,” he murmured. “Tasted so good… you came so hard for me -”
“Mm -” you hummed, pulling him down for a kiss. You tasted yourself on him, the sensation completely euphoric.
“Do you need some time?” he asked gently.
You ran a finger over your clit, still sensitive and puffy, and shook your head.
“No, I’m okay - I actually really need you to fuck me.”
“Thank god,” he said, exasperated. “I don’t think I can go another second without fucking you -”
“I know -”
“I would dream about you, you know - all the time. I’d wake up in the middle of the night with a hard-on, of a mess in my boxers like a fuckin’ teenager -”
“I know what you mean,” you admitted, recalling a few times you had thought of him as you touched yourself since he’d left.
“Please tell me you’re still on the fuckin’ pill -”
“Yeah, I am - God, Steve -”
“I know, I know - ready baby?”
You nodded, locking your eyes with his as he positioned himself above you, pushing inside of you ever so slowly. You could tell he was holding back, doing everything he could to not enter you in one rough movement. You winced at the stretch, nearly forgetting just how big he was. He kissed apologies across your face, gasping as he felt your warm walls envelope him.
“Fuck -” he groaned, burying his face in your neck. “I can’t believe I went so long without this - you feel so fuckin’ perfect, baby - such a tight, perfect pussy -”
“You feel so good,” you breathed, digging your fingernails into his shoulderblades. “Steve - I’m so full, please fuck me -”
He did as you asked, rolling his hips against yours, eliciting a groan from both of you. He was still holding back you could tell - but you didn’t have time for that, not after months of missing him, of missing this -
“Let go, baby,” you whispered. “Please -”
“What did you just call me?” he asked.
“I - baby,” you repeated. You realized you never had before - was that wrong?
“Say it again,” he breathed.
“Baby,” you breathed, gasping as he thrust into you a little harder.
“Baby, please - fuck me, let go,” you cried.
It became fast and hard quickly, the desperation you shared impossible to mask. The slapping of his hips against yours was positively dirty, Steve’s arms caging you underneath him as he pounded into you. Your hand snaked down between you, your own finger finding your clit.
“That’s it, baby,” he groaned, continuing his relentless pace. “Touch yourself for me, just like that - M’not gonan last long, I’m sorry, you just feel too good -”
“It’s okay,” you assured, pressing a kiss to his lips. “I want you to lose it.”
He groaned, the room filling with the sound of slapping skin and moans, your names on each other’s lips.
Nothing else mattered, not when Steve was making you feel like this, not when he had flown across an ocean on a whim, a desperate hope to just see you again, even if only for a moment. You suddenly became so overwhelmed with love for this man, this person who had turned your world upside down - it was indescribable, impossible to even express. So you just held him tight, burying your face into his shoulder.
“M’close - I need you to come with me, baby - can you do that? I know you can, you’re always so good for me -”
You nodded, unable to formulate words anymore.
“I fuckin’ love you,” he cried, hips stuttering, his thrusts growing sloppier. “So much, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you - I love you, baby -”
His words sent you over the edge, white-hot pleasure surging through your body as you screamed his name. The feeling of you clamping around him sending him into his own orgasm. He spilled inside of you, your name on his lips like a prayer. He practically collapsed on top of you, the feeling of his heartbeat against yours feeling like home, like it was always meant to be this way.
Your breaths were labored, sweet kisses peppered across skin. Neither of you spoke for quite some time. After he rolled off of you, he immediately wrapped his arms around you, pulling you as close as physically possible.
He pressed a kiss to your forehead, slow and gentle. It was only when you pulled back, brushing some of his sweaty hair away from his face, that you broke the silence.
“I love you, too,” you murmured. You brushed your fingers along his face, and he caught your wrist, pressing kisses to your palm and knuckles, as if determined to worship you every chance he got.
“I want more than an arrangement,” he whispered. “I don’t want rules, or a deal, or -”
“Yeah, that was obvious,” you replied, chuckling. “And, me too.”
“And, you were right - you have school, and I never wanted you to think I just wanted you like a trophy or something - you have your own life, aspirations, and i know that - I just like spoiling you, but I never wanted you to give up who you are,” he said, face soft. “I need you to know that.”
“I do,” you murmured.
You really did.
“Besides, I graduated.”
He raised an eyebrow. “What? When?”
“Officially? A few days ago.”
He smiled, soft and sincere - part of you was worried he might cry again.
“Congratulations - I’ll have to take you out to celebrate.”
“Mm - sounds good to me. How long - when are you here until?”
There was still life to reckon with, after all - living on two different continents, jobs, obligations - the kind of thing that could ruin this. But, he just shook his head.
“I bought an open-ended ticket. So, until whenever you want.”
“I - what? What about work?”
He shrugged. “Turns out, when you run the place, you can get away with that stuff.”
Your jaw dropped.
“What? Are you serious?”
He nodded. “Brenner’s out. I’m in - youngest CEO in the company’s history.”
You laughed, pressing your palm to your forehead as you stared at the ceiling in disbelief.
“Steve - that’s amazing. But how -”
“Shhh - we’ll figure everything out later. But, let’s at least ring in the new year together, yeah?”
You nodded cautiously - he really was here, now, and wanted to make it work.
“Okay,” you said. “Sounds good.”
“Hey - you know what’s really pissing me off, though?”
“What?” you asked, wary as a pit of dread formed in your gut.
“I have to thank Eddie fucking Munson for fixing this.”
You laughed, a real, hearty laugh, and in that moment, you realized things were going to be okay.
******
That night, you slept better than you had in months, safe and warm in Steve’s arms. That was, until you woke to Robin’s scream the next morning, both of you shooting up in bed with a start.
“WHAT IS HE DOING IN YOUR BED?” she cried, shielding her eyes. “God - I wish I could bleach my eyes - motherfucker -”
Then, the door was slamming shut, Robin bemoaning her luck as she bolted down the hall to her own room.
You felt your face heat with embarrassment, sinking under the covers.
“Well - I guess I owe her an explanation -”
“Later,” Steve saidly, shaking his head incredulously. “For Christmas, I’m getting you a fucking industrial lock for that door!”
Then you were laughing, blissful and unable to control yourself, Steve joining you. He kissed the giggles away, pulling your body to his, and not much talking happened after that.
It didn’t matter what real life held after this - because Steve was here, and he was yours. Wherever you ended up, you realized, if you were with Steve, you would be home.
He was here to stay.

Hi I was hoping if maybe you could do Velvette and Carmilla (poly or separate whichever you want to do) with a fem s/o that had a very abusive ex while she was alive like both physical and verbal abuse. She also has a hard time going out because she is terrified that she might run into them again. No pressure though hope you have a good day!😁
A/N: I'm so sorry i didn't write over the weekend, I got so busy it was ridiculous. Should be back to our regularly scheduled broadcast tomorrow! I'll be honest, this ask resonated with me, I immediately knew that I was gonna enjoy writing this one and you'll see why. Like i did last time, I'll be putting one drabble on one post and the other on a separate one with the ask included!
Character: Velvette
Type: Fic (Velvette x fem!reader who had an abusive ex, Angst, Fluff)
She was going to destroy them. And whatever was left of them when she was done, no one would dare touch, else they also wanted their lives burnt to ash.
Velvette was furious, livid. Needless to say, the influencer was on a war path.
Truly, she was glad that you weren’t here to see her like this. You didn’t need another reminder of that stain of a soul, though she wasn’t just going to lie or keep you in the dark. You knew where she was and what she was planning. You had been in tears when she told you in soft whispers that it was going to be okay, that she was going to ‘take care of it’. She was surprised that she had been able to keep her cool until she had left the flat.
Honestly, the influencer knew that she wasn’t supposed to know about the bastard yet. You had wanted to tell her on your own time and she respected that. But that didn’t mean that she hadn’t already suspected. When you would get nervous out in public, looking out into crowds like you were expecting to see a ghost. The flinching early in your relationship anytime she’d so much as graze your arm.
It figured that they were in hell too. It made sense, all things considered. Plus they were probably slippery enough to stay out of the path of any angels during exterminations
It had been such a peaceful day too. The both of your schedules had aligned, Velvette was between projects and you hadn’t had any real plans until later in the night, which said plans were with the overlord anyways.
It had been so long since the two of you had enjoyed a lazy morning together. Velvette was more than content simply enjoying each other’s company on the couch. You had been entangled with your lover, your arms loosely wrapped around her waist while you rest your chin on her shoulder, watching her scroll through her current feed.
She remembered so clearly how tense you became when she came across the picture. Some club goer that she would have completely ignored other wise, had it not been for the fact that you had started trembling. And then you flinched when the overlord had reached out to cup your cheek. She was quick to assure you that you had nothing to apologize for when you offered a dejected ‘sorry’.
And that was how Velvette found out about your only other serious relationship and the story of your death. Through needless apologies and countless tears.
Now, the influencer found herself storming through the halls of Vee Tower with one destination in mind. Vox’s office.
“Vox I need your help.” These were the first words out of her mouth when she burst in through the doors to the video star’s office
“Velvette, I thought you were taking today off?” The video star startled, quickly closing his current video feed. He seemed more than he would have usually. Whether it was because he hadn’t expected to see her or because of how angry she looked, the influencer didn’t know. And frankly, she didn’t give a shit, either. He could keep watching the radio demon like a creep later.
The video star leaned back in his seat when Velvette didn’t offer an answer. So instead he gesturing for the younger overlord to sit. She did not. Lacing his fingers together, Vox took in the sight that was Velvette. She was angry, that much was obvious, but why? She didn’t have any current projects that he could think of, so what in the literal hell could have her so vexed?
“What’s got you on a war path today my dear?” Though his smile didn’t meet his eyes. No, he knew something was very wrong.
“I need a favor.” This seemed to get his attention. In reality, Velvette rarely asked for favours, instead preferring to get shit done herself. Even rarer still, she was here, asking him in person instead of calling or texting him.
Vox turned to her fully now, a serious expression settling upon his screen. “Of course, what do you need?”
“Your reach is farther than mine,” She admitted, her voice soft, betraying the unbridled rage that dwelled beneath the surface. Reaching into her bag she pulled out a photo of demon who had summoned her ire, sliding a photo across his desk to show him. An eyebrow raise, the older sinner took the photo in his hand.
Mostly uninterested, Vox really wasn’t sure what he was looking at. The picture was ordinary, some demon taking a selfie at a club. Looked like some regular old schmuck to him. Returning his gaze back to his youngest cohort, he found her glaring at the offending photo so hard that he was surprised it didn’t burst into flames right there in his hand. Just to be safe, he put the photo back down on his desk.
“And what exactly did this poor bastard do to piss you off this bad?”
“That’s the fucker who used to beat on my girl.” Velvette all but hissed out, glarring down at the picture. Then, she spoke again, softer, her voice nearly trembling as a more grave expression took to her face. “They killed her, too.”
Vox froze, his screen flickering as his own temper spiked at the revelation. You were good for Velvette. He actually liked you, which was more than he could say about any other demon that the influencer had brought around the tower. Val liked you just as much. He was going to be pissed if he was left out of the fun, the video star noted as he shot the moth demon a quick text to get his ass to his office. Vox’s lips split into a vicious grin, his voice low, practically a growl as he forced out a: “Well, lets get to work then, shall we?”

TRIGGER WARNING: SELF HARM, DEATH
Tumblr media
─── ─── ─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─── ─── ───
You used to feel so alone, so empty. Like nothing could fill the pit in your heart where you stored the love from your family. They were everything to you, losing them made you feel endless pain that would never go away. You couldn’t cope with it all, you only felt pure affliction.
The one way you knew how to cope was something you had to hide, at least you felt that way. You didn’t know what to do without your family, you’d felt like somehow it was all your fault. Maybe you could’ve done something, be more useful and actually save them. Maybe it wasn’t helpful to take it out on yourself instead of putting the anger towards what actually killed your family, the walkers. You couldn’t help it though. You truly felt you killed your family.
It occurred to you that maybe the last thing you’d need in this world was to inflict more pain on yourself but it had somehow made you feel better, like you were getting what you deserved. You could get by a while without hurting yourself but occasionally situations would happen that reminded you of everything.
There was one time in particular that really got to you. You were tracking a deer for a while, granted tracking wasn’t your best strong suit but you thought you’d give it a shot. You followed it for hours. You successfully shot it and it ran but it didn’t get far. When you got to it, it was taken down by a swarm of walkers. It just looked too much like when the same thing happened to your family. You burst into tears and ran.
It was a common thing for this to happen but one day, someone saved you from the swarm. He came in with a couple others and they took them down for you and invited you back to their settlement. You almost wanted to say no. You didn’t want to risk caring for more people, losing them and then pay the price for that loss.
The boy who saved you was named Carl, he was your age and he quickly became your best friend, eventually your boyfriend. He managed to make you feel okay about everything. He told you how it wasn’t your fault, that you shouldn’t blame yourself for the death of your family. He was so gentle with the way he treated and loved you. There’s nothing he loved more than gently kissing around your body but you made it a point to him to not kiss your arms, you tended to pull away.
You didn’t want him to know, you were worried of what he’d think of you. He never gave you a reason to believe he’d be angry at you or anything like that but you were still nervous about it. He never wanted to pry as to why you didn’t want him kissing your arms because he respected you enough to not mention it unless you did.
You never planned on telling him, but you didn’t want him to find out either. Unfortunately, when he did find out, it wasn’t on your own terms.
“Hey wake up.” Carl pokes at you while you were sleeping peacefully in your bed (you guys had nightly sleepovers.) You pry your eyes open and look up at him, sort of giving him a mean look for waking you up. “Cranky.” He says, looking down at you with a cute little smile. “Yeah cranky. I’m so sleepy.” You sit up and yawn while he walks around the room. “We have to go check the snares my dad put out yesterday. He’s hoping for rabbits.” Carl explains, grabbing clothes from your closet and tossing them at you.
“Rabbits? For what?” You stand up slowly, stretching out your limbs. “Uhh I think Carol wants to make some stew. I dunno.” He replies briefly. You finish up changing and arm yourself with a handgun as well as a large knife. You both head out to go check the snares. The first two you checked were empty, which made sense since Rick set them out late last night in clearer areas.
When you get to the last snare, the both of you were pleased to find out that it caught a larger rabbit. You unlatch it and pack it away. “Carol’s gonna be excited. I know she’s been wanting to make stew for a while-” You were cut off by the sound of guttural screams coming from somewhere deep in the forest. There was no doubt you’d follow them to help whoever it was.
You and Carl ran through the woods, following the screams with your guns in hand. The screams get louder and louder as you approach and you pray that you’ll be able to save them. When you reach them, it was too late. The man was already on the floor, being ripped to shreds by the undead. Carl was with you, but somehow that didn’t seem to help this time. You remember your family, you couldn’t save this man just like you couldn’t save them. You run off back home, not even taking the walkers out, not waiting for Carl.
You go home in tears, you walk up the stairs not acknowledging anyone else who lived in the house because you simply couldn’t look at anyone. You change your clothes to try and distract from the pain of it all and blink your tears away. You stand for a moment trying to navigate what exactly to do next but your mind strays to one solution. You walk over to your dresser and dig to the bottom where you kept a little box. The little box where you kept razors. Every time Carl looked for clothes for you, you were worried he’d find it. He never did.
You grab the box and contemplate for a moment. Did you want to do this? It’s been a while since you last indulged but something about this time was different. You head over to the bathroom and shut the door. You breathe heavily, thinking about the man. His life ended because you didn’t run fast enough. Your mind was made up.
You sit on the edge of the tub and set the box of razors on the toilet lid. You open it and take one out, looking at it while wiping your tears away. You slide your sleeve down a little and stare at the scars from past times you’d done this before. You go for it, but are interrupted by the sound of voices downstairs. You listen for a moment before putting the blade back up to your arm. Before you know it, Carl bursts into the bathroom.
“Oh, I-I’m sorry-” He looks at you and the blade in your hands as you scramble to put it away and hide the box. “N-no I’m sorry I shouldn’t be…” Your voice trails off as you try to find the words to explain yourself. “Don’t be sorry.” He walks closer to you and kneels so he can see you better. He takes off his hat and places it on the counter. He rests his hands on your knees as he looks at you with pure love.
“Is that why you don’t like the kisses?” He lifts his hand up to wipe the tears from your face. He holds your cheek delicately and you nod into his hand. More tears roll down your face and he leans in closer to kiss them away. “They told me you were upset.” He says, referring to the Alexandrians you lived with. “It was the man, wasn’t it?” He holds your hands, gripping them tightly. You nod once more. He pulls your hand up to kiss them. “That’s not your fault. None of this is your fault okay? I promise you, I’d never lie to you.” He murmurs, kissing your hands between each sentence. You knew he was being honest, he always was. Carl never beat around the bush, but he was never brutally honest, he was always soft with you.
“Can I…?” He gestures to your arms and looks to you for approval. You look at him and hesitate but nod, sniffling a bit. He rolls your sleeve down slowly and he looks at you before leaning down to place soft kisses over your scars. Didn’t leave a single one un-kissed. He pulled the sleeve down your other arm and repeats the process. Every single scar was kissed. He always knew how to make you feel loved. He looks at you and studies your face like he’s done thousands of times before. He leans up to kiss your nose, then your forehead and then your cheek.
Carl leans forward and hugs you tightly. He sits there and tells you how much he loves you over and over.
Now, your heart feels fuller than ever.

A little Birdy told me you are taking Clarisse requests 👀. Little idea: Clarisse x child of hades reader who is like a lava girl? Aka she has hair that can turn into fire, can breath fire and can shoot lava from her hands?
When reader gets angry hair air bursts into flames. (And when she gets pouty she creates a fire circle to sit in the middle of to sulk) lol.
Thanks!

She knew you like the back of your head cause she knew you were hot-tempered you didn't say anything to her you didn't want to lie to her.
Not even five minutes into the game you've already fallen flat on your face you got up and dusted yourself off people tripped you over by accident they all say their sorry but then go off laughing your try so hard to not take it to heart but then someone trips you over again you thought 'what the hades is going on here, did I make someone angry or something?"before he muttered in your ear "the daughter of hades but out all his children, your weakest." You looked shocked at what he said your hair literally burst in fire you got off the floor as he tried to run away you shot a ball of lava out of your hands and shot it at him he was severely burnt on his back and you walked up to him and pushed him on the a breathed fire at him he ran away probably to go snitch or something you were told off by the teacher you sighed upsetting.
Sitting near the lake you bring your knees near your chest for comfort tears falling down your face you sniffled your team did not win because of your outburst everyone blamed you for it but tried truly to not cause a scene sobbing and a big ring of fire surrounded all around you clarisse asked everyone where you were nobody knew she truly thought and figured you would be at the lake she wondered towards the lake looking for you only to hear you sniffing and a sobbing "y/n?" She spoke softly hearing her you quickly wiped your tears away from your face and tried to calm down so the fire wouldn't show anymore it worked you "hello, rissey what you doing here bubs?" You said quietly your eyes are still glassy from your tears looking down clarisse responded "I was looking for you, sweetheart, why are you crying?" She said putting her hand on your arm for comfort you broke your silence "it's just I lost my temper I didn't mean to like I really did but he sai-" you stopped on your words and just choked out tears you always thought you were a burden and now you know it "I always thought I was a burden to my father know I know it's true.." clarisse sat there shocked "am I hearing this right?, you mean to tell me someone like you is a burden to your father?." y/n looked at clarisse and then she held your hand together "look to me your perfect, my love." She said kissing your forehead.
Bonus:
Clarisse: "honey, cool down before you burn something!"
Literally hair on fire and a big ring of fire around her Y/n: *mumbling about the boy that tripped her*
But then the boy was actually put on life support.

Summary: "She screams your name as she gathers your limp body in her arms. “Baby. Baby. Baby.” She keeps saying it, again and again as if she truly believes that you'll answer if she just says it enough. She has such childlike desperation as if she can't understand that she's broken her favorite toy.
OR
You die out in the snow, cold and alone. You haunt so much more than just the narrative. "
A/N: Shauna Shipman x reader if it wasn't clear. Warnings for canon typical themes and violence. I have very spoilery content warnings at the very end if you think you might need to see them ❤️.
You scoff loudly, tears running furiously down your face. You rub them away pointlessly, new tears taking their place the second your hand falls. You stare at Shauna in disbelief that she could ever be this mean to you. You knew her capacity for cruelness better than anyone, but never in a million years did you think she'd turn it on you. “Oh, it's my fault is it?” You ask bitterly. “Stupid Y/N didn't give you enough attention at a party so you just had to go and get yourself knocked up with someone else's boyfriend?”
Jackie flinches slightly at the reminder but still stands firmly at Shauna's side. That one had surprised you too, but leave it to Jackie to side with Shauna against someone even if she got hurt in the process. You knew they’d probably have an argument of their own once they were alone, but you still resented Jackie for taking Shauna’s side at the moment.
“Maybe I just realized you don't deserve me.” Shauna spits out defensively. “Maybe you never did.”
You nod slowly as you take in the information. You keep your eyes firmly on the ground, desperately trying to keep a hold of your emotions. “Well, I certainly didn't deserve this.” You say quietly. Shauna flinches slightly but doesn't back down. You finally look back up, seeing the rest of your friends standing behind Shauna. You don't even have it in you to be surprised how vehemently they seem to be on her side. “All of you?” You ask.
Lottie shrugs, a cold expression adorning her face. “We're all crazy, right? That's what you keep saying.” She says. Jackie looks slightly annoyed at being included in that statement but just rolls her eyes.
“This is about your fucking cult bullshit again?” You ask bewilderedly. You couldn't fucking believe this, but that seemed to be a common issue with you. Your lack of belief in Lottie's cult only seemed to further divide you from the other girls.
“This fucking cult bullshit is the only thing keeping us fed,” Mari says, instantly jumping to Lottie's defense.
“Nat is the only thing keeping us fed.” You refute immediately.
“And where's she now?” Lottie asks.
“Why don't you go ahead and wait outside for her, since we're so crazy,” Mari says. You sigh irritably and start to respond when you catch the expression of the girls around you. You can't help but get nervous, remembering all too well what you watched them do to Travis last night. You fidget nervously with the sleeves of your jacket, your sudden burst of anxiety effectively taking the wind out of your sails.
You suddenly notice the way they've surrounded the room and you back up slightly in response. “Go ahead,” Lottie says. “Go.” You laugh nervously as you look over at Shauna, some part of you still believing she'd back you up. She looks a little unsure, but the second she notices you looking her expression hardens.
“She's not going to help you.” Someone says behind her, though you can't quite make out who as your panic rises. You slowly look around at all of them, wishing that at least one of them would say something in your defense. This was crazy, wasn't it? If someone else thought so too they didn't bother to speak up about it.
You scoff as you back up towards the door. You take one last look at Shauna, with one hand still on the door. “Well. Fuck you too then.” You say bitterly, slamming the door behind you.
You stare wearily at your fire with your arms wrapped around your knees. You're desperately cold even with the fire roaring. You stare at the front door for a few minutes as you consider just going back inside. It was late enough that you were sure most of the girls had gone to sleep already, late enough that you felt safe slipping back inside.
Still, you remembered the hateful look on Shauna's face and decided that she'd just have to come to you. You were sure she'd come after you after she calmed down. Your girlfriend had a habit of blowing up about stuff but she always came crawling back to apologize. You really do think you'd forgive her if only she'd actually apologize to you. You knew that you probably shouldn't, given that she's cheated on you at least once; Though you know I'm the back of your mind it was probably more than that, but she'd always been so good so you otherwise. Still, the longer you were out here the more your hope started waning.
You pulled your jacket tightly around you as you started shivering. You stared blankly into the fire, never once seeing the figure watching you from the attic window. Maybe things would be a lot different if you did.
You were getting pretty tired though, so for now you decided to sleep. You could hash things out in the morning when Nat got back, you knew she'd understand.
…
“Hey,” Shauna says softly, shaking you awake. You stare up at her blearily as you blink your eyes open, still shivering from the cold. She kneels down on the ground next to you, gently pulling you into a sitting position as she wraps her arms around you. You scoff and try to pull out of her arms but she holds onto you tightly, not letting you go. You relax slightly, thinking of all the mornings you’d spent trying and failing to get Shauna to stop cuddling you so you could get out of bed. You just wish she’d get over herself and apologize already.
“It’s not your fault” She admits quietly, pulling you closer against her. You’re incredibly surprised, and you don’t bother to hide it. “It wasn’t really about you, I’m sorry.” You’re quiet for a long moment, gently running your fingertips against her arm. She was so warm and it was really everything you could do not to bury yourself in her arms. You weren’t even sure if you could feel your fingertips anymore. You felt pretty strange, honestly.
“What was it about, then?” You ask. Shauna sighs, her breath incredibly warm against your neck.
“Jackie.” She admits. “I just wanted to take something from her for once, and we were fighting.”
“That’s not,” You start.
“I know.” Shauna interrupts. “It’s not an excuse, but you asked why. I was just mad and I was being stupid.” You smile softly, even though you know she can’t see it. Leave it to Shauna to act without thinking. You lace your fingers together gently, nearly groaning at the warmth of her hand.
“I don’t forgive you.” You say, honest to a fault. “But we can work on it.” You can feel rather than see the way Shauna smiles against the back of your neck.
“Okay.” She says happily, dragging the both of you to stand back up. She pulls you by the hand back into the cabin. You let the door shut gently behind you, careful to step over the sleeping girls on the floor. You climb up into the attic after her, tip-toeing over to your cot on the floor. You lie on the cot next to each other, both of you a little unsure of what you should do now.
You turn on your side to face her, throwing your arm over her when she does. It was a role reversal to how you usually slept, and you could tell Shauna was silently questioning it. You gently place your hand against her stomach almost reverently. Shauna inhales sharply as she reaches down to place her hand over yours. “You’re really…” You trail off.
“Yeah.” She says somberly.
“Hey.” You say comfortingly. “None of that now.” You rub comforting circles against her belly as you pull yourself tighter against her side, desperately trying to chase away the cold feeling that’s encased your entire existence. “Everything will be okay.” You murmur quietly into her ear. Shauna makes a noise in protest but seems too tired to really fight you on it. She pulls your arm firmly against her as she tries to get comfortable on the floor.
“Will it?” Laura Lee asks sadly. You glance up in shock, eyes going wide as you see her.
“What?” You ask bewilderedly. You look over at Shauna only to realize she isn’t there. You have the strangest realization that she was never there. Somehow, you’re still lying out by the fire. You look back towards Laura Lee in a panic to find that she’s no longer there either. You’re all alone, and you think you always have been.
You look down at your body somehow completely disconnected from it. It takes you a long while to realize just where you are. You stare for a while in disbelief, unable to deal with the idea that she had left you here like this. You'd truly believed that Shauna would come for you, and you're not sure how to deal with the harsh reality that she hadn't. Your dream had felt so vividly real, but you should have known it was too good to be true. Nothing good has happened to you since that plane went down, why should this be any different? Before the crash, you used to dream of dying quietly beside Shauna one day, ripe with old age. Seems like you died because of Shauna instead.
It's so cold, you think absentmindedly. You've been cold for a while, but this is different. It wasn't a biting cold anymore, the kind that nipped at your fingertips and left you shivering on the ground outside. It was a cold sort of numbness like you were standing in the abyss just surrounded by complete and total nothingness. It isn't nearly as bad as you thought it was going to be.
You start to wonder why you fought so hard in the first place. You can't help but laugh at the realization that everything you've done in the last few months was for nothing. All the prices you have paid since that plane crashed were for nothing. You were nothing to no one, not anymore. Hell, You think bitterly. You were nothing to no one long before you died.
It had been so quiet for so long, so cold that even the birds weren't chirping. Nothing but the sound of the wind through the trees. You nearly die a second time when the silence is broken by a sudden agonized scream. You whirl around to see Shauna frantically running out of the doorway and dropping to her knees next to you.
She screams your name as she gathers your limp body in her arms. “Baby. Baby. Baby.” She keeps saying it, again and again as if she truly believes that you'll answer if she just says it enough. She has such childlike desperation as if she can't understand that she's broken her favorite toy. You're never going to take in another breath, but in this moment you can't help but hope against hope with her.
She shakes your body violently back and forth; It's not like she's trying to hurt you, but rather that she seems to think that all she has to do is shake you hard enough and you'll wake back up again. It's like she's trying to restart your heart just with the motions of her own body, a fucked up version of CPR. But no matter how hard she tries you'll never wake up again. You wish you could feel her hands on you, wanting nothing more than to feel her touching you one last time. It had been a while since she did it last, and you miss it desperately. You miss it even more as you realize you’re never going to get it again.
It's too late for that even if she doesn't seem to realize that herself; You just wish she would've realized that she loved you when you were alive. You felt a lot of things at this moment, but more than anything you felt like an idiot. You couldn’t believe you fucking died because Shauna couldn’t even bother to be the slightest bit sorry until she lost you. You were being irrational, you knew but felt like you deserved to be anyway.
Jackie and Tai both desperately try to pull her off of your body– no, your corpse– but Shauna just won't budge. She holds on to you with every ounce of strength she has, but she still manages to be so gentle with you now that she's finally accepted that you aren’t going to wake up. The expression on her face as she looks at you is absolutely devastating, and you can’t even bear to look at it any longer. She doesn’t speak anymore, she can’t think long enough to even form words. She just shakes desperately as her body is wracked with sobs.
You wish she’d go cry inside. It’s cold out here, as you well know.
…
Jackie had come to sit with Shauna for the first few weeks, staunchly loyal to the end. She couldn't bear to look at your body, whether due to guilt or disgust, you were never quite sure. Eventually, even she had to tap out as it got far too cold for her to stand being outside for long periods. She begged and begged Shauna to just come inside with her but Shauna had steadfastly refused. You wondered where all this loyalty was when she fucked Jeff.
Jackie's concern over Shauna's mental state was mostly unwarranted, but it's not like you could explain that to her. Most of the other girls had written Shauna off as crazy for sitting out with a corpse all day, but Jackie knew more than most even as she fervently protected that secret. She'd watched for weeks as Shauna talked to thin air, pleading with her to realize that you weren't really there. You wonder what it must look like for Jackie as Shauna sat next to your corpse for hours and begged you to say something to her; You wonder if Shauna herself even truly knows you're real.
You were still so angry, but there wasn't anything you could do about it. So you did the only thing you do: nothing. When Shauna begged you to talk to her you said nothing. When Shauna apologized for hours on end you said nothing. You sat there and watched her sob in the cold, just like she did to you. She had her chance to apologize, but she was so stubborn she'd rather let you die.
Still, the more time passed the more you started to feel sorry for her. She just seemed so pathetic. You never knew yourself to be capable of such cruelness, but then again you'd never died before either. As you stare down at your killer you find yourself unable to resist the urge to comfort her. You don’t know why she’s the only one who can see you, but you’ve long grown tired of punishing her for it.
You slowly kneel down next to her spot on the ground, the closest you’ve let yourself get to her in a long time. She’d known better, subconsciously or otherwise, than to try to get near you during the time she’d spent in the meat shed. You reach your hand out towards her dreadfully slow, more than a little terrified to find out if you can actually touch her. Judging by the distraught look on her face you know she’s had the same thoughts. You both gasp when your hand makes undeniably solid contact with her arm. You grip her arm tightly as a sudden feeling of wrongness overtakes you. This… This isn’t right.
Your fingers loosen as you start to pull away but Shauna surges forward to grab you tightly, her nails digging deeply into your skin. You stare down strangely at her fingers. You knew that, had you been alive, her grip most certainly would have drawn blood; As it was, you couldn’t even really feel her in the first place: you get nothing but the faintest sense of pressure. As nice as it is to be touched for the first time in weeks, that only makes it more upsetting that you can’t truly enjoy it.
“Y/N.” Shauna says panicked, frantically grasping at you as if you were sand falling out of her fingers. You smile slightly, the metaphor feeling apt as you start blinking in and out of existence. It happened less now than it did before, you’d gotten much better control over it over time but you always fell victim to strong emotions.
“See you later?” You ask wryly as your vision goes black, the first thing you’ve bothered to say to Shauna since you died.
You peer curiously over Shauna’s shoulder as she writes in her journal. She used to get defensive the second you stepped a foot towards her while she had her journal, but the two of you had long since grown past the need for secrets between you. Shauna hesitates for a second before she shifts her shoulders slightly so that you can have a better view as she keeps writing. This was such an interesting insight into Shauna’s psyche that you understandably never got to experience when you were alive. You found yourself endlessly fond of reading Shauna’s warped view of her day-to-day activities with the rest of your teammates.
You'd realized pretty early on that you couldn't go very far from your body, which made haunting get awfully boring pretty quickly. Shauna didn't even react when you floated through the walls or discorporated out of nowhere anymore. You'd even tried experimenting with Shauna to discover that you could even hold a pen if Shauna was also touching it. Despite being able to hold it, you couldn't seem to actually write with it– much to your disappointment and Shauna's silent relief: she really did not want to have to share her journal with you.
Shauna didn't cry nearly as much as she used to, not from grief anyway. Still, you found yourself wishing she would. The colder it got the more concerned you became with the amount of time Shauna was spending out here, and how much your pregnant girlfriend was isolating herself from her friends. She'd need them badly soon with the baby coming and you were intimately aware of how bad Shauna was at repairing bridges on her own.
There wasn't much you could do about it out here, but you'd come up with an idea that you hope might work.
“You need to go back inside.” You say. Shauna sighs, getting tired of rehashing the same argument over and over again. You were getting pretty tired of it yourself, but your girlfriend had always been incredibly stubborn; It seems that she still hasn’t learned her lesson on that one.
“I’m not leaving you out here by yourself.” She insists. You know her well enough to know her motivation is much more selfish than that: she doesn’t want to be inside by herself. You weren’t sure what had gone down between her and Jackie that had left her suddenly so dependent on your company over hers, but you certainly weren’t going to complain. It made you feel awfully selfish to monopolize Shauna’s time like that, but you figured Shauna was more than happy to let you.
“Then don’t.” You say simply. She gives you a wry look as she looks over at your body and then back at you. Her lip quirks up in amusement. You can’t help but laugh at the idea of your severely pregnant girlfriend hauling your corpse up into the cabin. She looks mighty proud of herself for making you laugh as she finally shuts her journal to give you her full attention. “Not my entire body.” You suggest through peels of laughter. Shauna’s eyes widen slightly as she looks contemplatively at your body.
After a long moment, she carefully gets up on her knees, grabbing the knife from the table as she moves over to your body. She slowly holds the knife up to your ear and watches you closely as she starts to cut it off. You flinch reflexively at the sight but feel no actual pain; It’s extremely strange watching your own ear being cut off without actually feeling any of it. You weren’t actually sure if it would work or not, but it’s by far the best idea you’d come up with. Shauna glances rapidly back and forth between you and the ear before she sheepishly stuffs it in her pocket. “What now?” She asks unsurely.
You gesture to the door and she rises slowly and unsteadily to her feet. She carries the bear meat she’d been sent out here for in the first place as you follow unsurely behind her. You reach your usual limit from the meat shed and cautiously take a step forward, incredibly relieved to find yourself without the normal tugging sensation that accompanies it. Shauna lets out a relieved sigh as she walks into the cabin. The other girls eye her wearily as she holds the door open for seemingly thin air. You didn’t actually need her to hold the door open for you, one of the few perks of being dead, but you desperately held onto any reminder of Shauna’s chivalry from when you were alive.
You sit quietly next to Shauna by the window, who keeps glancing back at you to make sure you’re really there. You’re sure it just adds further fuel to the belief that Shauna’s going insane, but you were just glad she knew enough not to try to talk to you in front of everyone. Small victories, you thought.
You watch the other yellowjackets curiously– a cruel part of you that you try to bury is pleased with how awful they look– and realize how hard this winter has hit them. You can't help the concern it sparks in you, but you're much more concerned with the state of your girlfriend. As much as you had assured her she wasn't going to die giving birth you didn't truly think the outcome was going to be all that hopeful. Secretly you wonder if it would really be that bad if she were to join you, but you know you'll do everything you can before that happens.
You sit up with her, long past when the other yellowjackets have fallen asleep in various positions on the floor. Jackie tried to convince Shauna to come and sleep with her, but Shauna refused. You were irritated that she was still avoiding taking care of herself to be able to talk to you.
You observe her carefully as she pulls your ear out of her pocket, fidgeting with it as the two of you sit in silence. You think it's an awfully morbid nervous get sure till you notice the way she looks at it. “Shauna.” You say quietly, barely above a whisper. She seems to snap out of her intense look as she meets your eyes. “Are you hungry?“ You ask sympathetically.
She scoffs and gives you an annoyed look, but you can tell her heart isn't in it. “It's okay,” You tell her. “No one would know.”
You laugh, holding your hands up placatingly. “Who would I tell?” Shauna's lips quirk up, but you can tell she's seriously considering it. You place one hand on her shoulder and rub comfortingly at it. You slip your other hand down to gently grasp her wrist and bring it to her mouth. She resists at first but quietly breaks as she stuffs it in her mouth in one fluid motion.
“Hey,” You say with a roguish grin. “That's the spirit.” Shauna groans, her face still uncharacteristically unsure. You place a gentle kiss against her forehead before you finally manage to send her off to bed.
…
You wrinkle your nose slightly in disgust as you look down at your corpse. You can’t believe Shauna’s done you up like a clown; What happened to dignity in death? You were embarrassedly fond of the sight, however. Shauna was always awful with makeup and you found yourself glad that at least some things haven’t changed between the two of you. “What the fuck are you doing to me?” You ask with a grin. Shauna flinches, looking up quickly with a slightly guilty look on her face. She relaxes when she realizes you don’t seem that upset about it. You’d been away most of the day, finding it harder and harder to keep track of time the longer you were dead. You’d gotten tired of watching her sleep a long time ago and tended to just pop back out when she woke up.
“You just seem so lifeless.” She muses, staring at your corpse thoughtfully. You wince as she applies a crooked line of lipstick. How could someone be that fucking bad? It’s not like your corpse was shifting at all.
“That’s because I’m dead.” You suggest helpfully. Shauna sighs in exasperation, not even giving that a response. You thought she was awfully judgy for someone currently putting makeup on a corpse. You open your mouth to make another dead joke when the door to the meat shed opens. Oh shit. You have to hold your hand over your mouth to hide your grin at Shauna’s expense, but that doesn’t stop you from shaking with silent laughter.
Jackie watches the scene in absolute disbelief, her eyes quickly focusing on Shauna almost straddling your corpse as she ‘applies’ makeup to it. You can’t help but agree with the slight look of disgust as she takes in just how bad your makeup looks. Jackie looks more upset at that than the fact she was doing it in the first place. She looks achingly concerned for Shauna once she gets past her initial reaction. “Jackie,” Shauna starts but Jackie just shakes her head softly and walks back to the cabin presumably to tell the others.
“You should go after her.” You say quietly. Shauna jumps slightly, forgetting you are still there. She seems so unsure and sad as she looks up at you, almost like a child who’s gotten lost. She nods slowly and heads after her. You stay in the shack, not wanting to deal with that confrontation. You laugh softly as you hear Shauna yelling all the way from here. A real spitfire that one.
You watch quietly as your former friends lift your body onto the pyre. Shauna had fought and fought with the other girls about it, but you silently agreed with them. You hope that it will finally help Shauna move on, as much as you want to keep her out there you know it’s for the better. You wonder if you’ll disappear when your body is burnt, or if the flesh Shauna consumed would keep you tied together till she died as well. You found that you weren’t entirely opposed to either option.
Shauna looks over at you pleadingly but you just shake your head. You weren’t entirely sure what she expected you to do anyway, as no one else could see you. You suspected Lottie could sometimes, she stared off in your direction way too often. She never seemed to acknowledge it so you chose not to either. You still weren’t very happy with the rest of your friends for what they did, so you weren’t going to go out of your way to talk to her; You try not to think about it much so you don't need to address the double standard of forgiving Shauna for it. You hum in agreement as Shauna yells at the other girls for trying to take your clothes, shuddering at the thought of Travis of all people seeing you naked.
Shauna looks directly at you as she steps up to your corpse. “I was wrong.” She says so quietly that you can barely make it out. You weren’t entirely sure you were supposed to. “You weren’t the one that didn’t deserve the other.” She steps back as your body starts to burn.
You stare numbly as the flames lick up your body, not really sure how to feel about the whole thing. You give Shauna a small smile as you look through the fire at her. You walk with her back into the cabin and stare out the window long into the night completely captivated by the sight.
…
You stare down at your cooked body with a horrified expression. You'd seen the snow fall on it, sure, but never in your wildest dreams were you expecting this to be the result. Out of all the awful things that have happened to you since your plane crashed you were sure this had to be the worst. It was somehow weirder than dying, as that had at least happened in your sleep. The smell of your cooked flesh was absolutely nauseating even as a ghost. You startled slightly at the sound of the cabin door opening. “What… What smells so good?” You hear someone ask from inside.
You tense, moving defensively in front of your body. There's no fucking way that… You hesitate as you consider just how hungry Shauna has been lately. You let the rest of them starve before they got your body, but your girlfriend– your very pregnant girlfriend– was a different matter altogether. You reluctantly step out of the way as they start surrounding your corpse. There’s not anything you really could have done to stop them, but it still feels weird to let them do it without the slightest bit of protest.
You see her watching you as she walks out with the rest of them, looking horrified as she glances back and forth between you and your body. She seems to want to say something but can't find the words as she finally fixates on your body with an undeniable look of hunger on her face. You'd been on the receiving end of that look more times than you can remember, but you've never seen it in this context. You sigh as you realize you're going to let Shauna eat you one last time.
Shauna manages to tear her eyes away from your corpse as she looks up at you. She looks wild, verging on feral, and you're honestly surprised she managed to tear herself away from it. She looks around at the others and her eyes start to narrow and a familiar expression that you know means trouble starts to appear. You consider letting her shoo them away from your body, telling by the way they’re all staring at her you think they’d listen, but you knew this was finally something you could do for Shauna.
“It’s okay.” You say softly in the most compassionate voice you can manage given your general disgust with the entire situation. She looks startled as she turns her head slightly to look at you. “I want you to. It’s okay.” She shakes her head in disagreement, but you can tell her heart isn’t truly in it. Her eyes keep trailing back to your body with a slightly longing look on her face. The whole scene is heartbreaking, you wouldn’t wish this decision on your worst enemy. Still, Shauna needed to eat. If not for her, then for the baby.
“Let me take care of our baby.” You plead quietly in her ear, tearing up at the utterly lost expression on her face. “Please, Shauna? It's the only way I can.” You'd do anything for Shauna: this was nothing. It didn't even cost you anything. Shauna still looks reluctant, but you’ve convinced her to do things she wanted to do a lot less with a simple please before.
“She'd want us too,” Shauna says hesitantly as she slowly kneels down next to you. It sets a chain reaction as the others quickly join her in consuming you. You keep a hand on her shoulder as she ravenously digs in, but you can't bear to look. You're on the verge of finding out if ghosts can throw up as you try your best not to gag at the sounds of tearing meat. You think you might hear the squishing sound of your flesh being chewed on for the rest of your afterlife.
The things you do for love.
…
“-know that, but Tai’s supposed to be my friend!” Shauna argues. Jackie sighs, holding her hands up placatingly.
“I’m just saying that I’m here for you too,” Jackie says softly. Shauna softens as she gives her an apologetic look that Jackie just waves off. Jackie continues, “They may have all gone crazy, but it’s you and me against the world Shipman.” Jackie leans her head against Shauna’s shoulder as she looks back at the prayer circle. Shauna murmurs something in response that you’re not quite close enough to pick up, but you can tell from the affectionate look on Jackie’s face that it is at least positive.
“If it helps, I think Tai’s a bitch too.” You agree as you step closer. Shauna's lips quirk up as she gives you a knowing look. “She ate my fucking face, Shauna.” You defend. She gives you a fond look as she shakes her head and goes back to glaring at the cult. You’d missed your angry girlfriend, she'd spent far too much time being your sad girlfriend lately; The return to normality felt comforting. You tune out the sounds of Jackie and Shauna talking shit about the cult, content to just enjoy the moment.
Shauna’s relationship with the others seemed to get more and more strained the more Lottie seemed to focus on Shauna’s baby. You were hoping she and Tai found some common ground on this soon as Shauna desperately needed to talk to someone other than Jackie and a ghost. You trailed a bit awkwardly behind them as Tai, Shauna, and Jackie argued on the way back to the cabin. You were about to go away for a bit when Shauna suddenly cries out in pain. You rush forward to catch up with them, watching in concern as they try to get Shauna back to the cabin in the snowstorm.
Shauna holds on to Tai and Jackie’s hands as she screams her way through it. She tried desperately to hold your hand instead, but Tai grabbed it before you could get to it. Privately you were a little relieved about that given that you had no clue how she’d be able to explain that one away later. You sat by her head, clutching onto her the best you could. You murmured soothing words, but most of your energy was spent trying to stay present. You flickered back and forth as you tried to get a handle on your own panic, but managed to push past it by focusing on the fact that Shauna would literally murder you if you vanished right now.
You don’t bother to give Lottie’s little prayer circle a second glance until you catch “-hope Shauna doesn’t die.” You finally manage to tear your eyes away from Shauna to glare over at Mari, despite knowing that she can’t actually see you.
“Die?” Shauna asks panickedly, trying to look back at you. Jackie grabs at Shauna’s chin, forcing Shauna to look at her as she tries to soothe her worries. You can tell that Jackie’s barely holding it together herself by the look of intense fear that graces her face whenever Shauna looks away from her. Jackie looks up as she tries to find what Shauna was looking back for, and there's just a fraction of a second where you swore she saw you. Her eyes go wide and her mouth opens slightly in shock, but it seems to disappear as quickly as it appeared. She shakes her head in disbelief as her eyes seem to go straight through you once again. Regardless of your mutual curiosity, you both keep all of your attention focused on Shauna as she finally starts pushing.
You’re absolutely devastated as you stare down at Shauna. As her eyes start to flicker open you almost wish she’d pass out for a little longer, anything to stop her from feeling this. Shauna’s eyes slowly blink open as she looks around the room. Her eyes land on you and she smiles weakly before her expression suddenly becomes horrified as the truth slowly dawns on her. “How are you holding my baby?” She asks quietly as if she can barely force the words out. You flinch as you look away, not able to bear looking her in the eyes. You gently try to rock the crying baby in your arms.
“How are you holding my baby?” She repeats over and over again, sounding more and more desperate each time. She’s practically screaming it now, her voice cracking in the middle. Her baby is crying louder and louder in response and you're still frantically trying to calm him down. You give Shauna a helpless look as you try soothing him as she watches in horror. “No…” She says in disbelief, voice barely a whisper. You think it must hurt her to speak after all the screaming she’s done, but at the same time, you know that she’ll never hurt again. This isn’t what you wanted for her, but at least she’d never starve again.
Shauna sobs as she watches you hold her baby. She reaches forward slowly as if expecting her hand to go right through him and exhales shakily as she makes real solid contact with him. She glances down at her hand in surprise and you watch as she finally notices. You wonder if it was the sight of her own body, or if she finally took in the sounds of Jackie’s desperate screams as she rocked Shauna’s body back and forth.
Shauna glances back and forth between her corpse and her own arm. You knew firsthand how disorienting it was to wake up for the first time, so you gave her an encouraging smile as you finally got the baby to calm down. You smile down at him as you hold him more gently than anything else you’ve ever had. You’ve always thought babies were a little ugly, but you’ve heard it’s different when it’s your own. As you look down at him you can’t help but realize that it’s true. You glance back up at Shauna in awe: he looks so much like her, and nothing like Jeff. You were privately very pleased about that one.
Shauna slowly moves up to her knees, seeming unsure and awkward as she moves out of her own body. She gets her feet back under her, with all the grace of a baby fawn as she stumbles her way over to you. She sits down next to you and she shares your awed look as you slowly hand the baby to her. She seems unsure of what to think or feel about the baby. On one hand, there was the baby she’d spent nine months growing, on the other hand, there was her killer. As you let Shauna make her mind up you stare compassionately over at Jackie who’s gone absolutely hysterical over Shauna’s body. Tai and Van are both trying to pry her off of Shauna’s corpse, but Jackie’s a lot stronger than she looks as they don’t seem to get one finger off of Shauna. You knew that you would have been joining her if you were still alive, and your heart truly went out to her. You don’t think you’ll ever forget the sound of her screaming.
Shauna glances up at Jackie a few times with a guilty expression on her face. You knew she wanted to do something to help Jackie, anything really, but there wasn’t anything she could do. She focuses on the one thing she can, her baby. You watch happily as she coos down at him. You’d never thought much about Shauna being a mother, but you couldn’t deny that she seemed to be a natural at it. There was so much love in her eyes, despite the circumstances.
Shauna smiles as she gently rocks the baby in her hands. She stares at him in awe, even after all this time. You wrap your arm around her as you lean your head against her shoulder. Shauna rests hers on top of yours. She sighs quietly as she looks back up at the cabin. “I miss Jackie.” She admits. You gently rub at her shoulder as you try to comfort her.
“If it helps,” You offer up, “They’ll probably eat Jackie soon.” Shauna snorts in laughter, raising a hand to cover her face in embarrassment. She puts her hand down as she glares at you, the corners of her lips twitching up despite herself.
“Don’t joke about that.” She says, but you can't help but notice that she doesn’t disagree.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you almost swear that Jackie can see you just out of the corner of her eyes. She’ll whirl around in your direction, searching frantically for whatever it was that caught her eye. You hope she’ll make it out, but as you watch the cards being handed out you don’t find yourself all that hopeful. You smile affectionately over at Shauna; You’ve lost many things out here, but you’ve certainly gained some in return. You smile ear to ear as the baby grabs at your finger. You weren’t sure this was a happy ending, but it was enough.
Content Warnings: Major Character Deaths (You and Shauna), Infant mortality (the baby is also a ghost lmao), cannibalism, descriptions of seeing your own body, as well as descriptions of seeing/hearing it being eaten. It’s also implied that jackies gonna get merc’d soon 🤷. Bittersweet ending ig?

Damn, you felt sore. Almost every part of your body ached. Last thing you remembered was, you were behind the school because you've received a note to meet someone there, just like the many you got like every other week. It's always the same corny love confession, and you always respond with the same answer,
"Oh, I already have a lover. Thanks for the thought though." You say and walk away.
But this time, it was something you never would've expected. It was a girl this time but that wasn't the new part, you've had even girls confess to you. It was she started talking about,
"You just think you can do whatever you fucking want just because you're pretty." She said in a spiteful tone,
You grimaced knowing what type of girl she already was. She was a bitch, not the good kind. She was green with envy of any girl who tried to outshine her. You snickered,
"You think I'm pretty, why thank you <3." You dropped the smug remark, rolling your eyes playfully.
You started walking away, not wanting to waste your time with some girl who has nothing to do then shit on other women who are living their lives. Jealousy really is a disease, and an ugly one. But suddenly you stopped in your tracks when she shouted,
"YOU THINK YOU COULD JUST STEAL HIM AWAY FROM ME, YOU BITCH!"
Turning to her, annoyance bubbling up inside you as you spat back at her,
"What the hell are you talking about, steal who?
"HARUKI SENPAI, YOU SEDUCED HIM!"
She saw your furrowed eyebrow and crooked smile, before you burst out laughing, hugging your stomach,
"PFFT, BAHAHA! OH MY GOSH, REALLY!? THAT UGLY GUY CONFESSED TO ME."
Taking a deep breath before wiping the small tears in the corners of your eyes,
"Okay, so you're yelling at me because your man-wait no- CRUSH asked me out. Sounds like you should keep him in check rather than attacking me. You know, that's a really bitchy move. There's a special place in hell for insecure hoes like you who put down other women."
You felt bad for her, she was trying so hard for this guy's attention to the point of coming at other girls. That's so...pathetic. You saw how her malice expression faded into a sadistic smile, then you caught the sound of a twig snapping behind you. You gasped at the realization, turning halfway when you felt the sharp pain in the side of your head. One of her friends had snuck up on you then at the moment you put your guard down, she struck you with a metal pipe.
RIP my man...Shinichiro
You weren't sure how long you've been knocked out for, but once you woke up it was night time. And you were met with two afros you were oh-too-familiar with.
"Hey Souya, it's alright. She's opening her eyes, there's no need to cry." His older brother, Nahoya, tried to comfort him.
Souya hasn't stopped crying ever since they got the first glance of your almost lifeless body on the floor. He never ran so fast to check up on somebody, pulling you into his arms and light shaking you to wake up. Begging you to.
"Hey Soso, baby, you're kinda squeezing the life out of my ass right now." You managed to gasp out,
He quickly let you go but both of his hand were still on your shoulder,
"Who...who did this Y/n. I'll fucking kill-" He started, his voice dripped with malice and rage.
Tears were running down his face, Nahoya had warned you about Angry's tears. No matter what, don't make him cry. You cupped his face, catching him off guard. You took a good look at him before gently wiping his tears away and leaning in and kissing his wet cheeks, You giggled a little at the small blush that became visible on his now hot cheeks. He was such a kind soul. He was one of the rare people who truly had a good heart. You weren't sure how hard you fell for him until now.
"Why are you crying dummy, I am literally right here in your arms."
You feel relieved once you see his tears stop running like a speeding river. You continued by kissing his hands,
"I told you before, your tears are precious to me, baby. Mm, I love you so much." You whispered, your voice sugarcoated as you pulled him into your arms, holding him lovingly.
He sniffed and struggled to talk because of his constant gasps,
"Shh, it's gonna be alright. Just listen to my voice. Take a deep breath, angel. Yeah, that's it. Are you calm now?" You whispered near his ear, rubbing his back and gently caressed his hair.
He nodded,
"I-I tried, I really did! But you were hurt and bleeding!"
"I know, baby. I know, and it's okay. I'd never ever blame you, love. Also c'mon, I bleed like every month. I think I can handle this." You joked,
You heard his muffled laugh when he had his face rested in the crook of your neck.
You were too focused on Souya, notice the way Nahoya took the hint and left you two to the comfort of your own presence.
...
The walk home to patch you up was sweet. Souya offered (demanded) to carry you all the way to your house. It was relaxing, he smelled nice, and he was warm. You wrapped your arms around his neck getting more comfortable when you pulled him closer resting your head on his shoulder.
"Souyaaaaaaa, I love youuuu. You're so sweet and make me so happy." You whispered, dragging out some of your words.
He was glad you weren't looking at him. You would tease the freak out of him if you saw the way he blushed hard at your harmonious voice. You raised your head, facing him. You snicker at his flushed face,
"You're so cute when you blush." You purr, biting your lower lip a little.
You moved your face closer to his, brushing your lips against his. It was a deep and affectionate kiss. You lost yourself in his warmth, treasuring the sensual moment. Pulling away to take a shaky breath. You sunk back into his arms, a smile tugged on your swollen lips, and let your eyes rest, getting sleepy.
After a moment you heard a small chuckle. You open one of your eyes, staring up at him,
"Hmm, what's up?
"I just remember talking with my brother about something."
"Oooh, tell me! Tell me!"
"He said you were a lot like a tootsie pop."
"The sucker. pfft-why?"
"You always act so tough on the outside but you're really such a softie."
You got flustered and a tad bit angry,
"dammit Nahoya, I'll shove my foot up your ass next time I see."

Shrouded affection finale | Emily Prentiss x f!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Good things don’t always last forever and Emily has a habit of self destructing.
Word count: 4,801
A/N: This is super late because my teachers hate me and keep assigning tests… and dialogue heavy maybe. Has anybody seen the new mean girls yet? I watched it on Sunday. @jellysaidshit @emilxprentiss @poorwritingandstalecoffee
Tumblr media
The case was located in San Francisco. When Garcia had presented the case four women had been brutally murdered; each of their limbs broken and twisted in an inhumane way. Just looking at those poor women made you feel sick to your stomach.
How could someone do something like this? So evil. So deranged.
The case itself was long and gruelling. Restless nights made better due to you not having Emily to share your burdens with. You were currently getting ready for drinks at the bar with the team and the police department, a small but well needed celebration for cracking such a tough case.
You and Emily had both decided to just go in your work clothes. After all, you hadn’t packed for celebratory drinks.
Strobing lights obscured your vision as you pushed your way into the bar. Obnoxiously loud music blasted from speakers as you pushed your way through a sea of sweaty, half drunk bodies in hopes of finding your team. Emily’s hand was in yours as you guided her through the crowd, slightly shoving people out of the way in order to make enough room for you to squeeze past.
Emily had given you the rest of her gifts before you had left for the bar. The cool caress of the metal curled around your wrist a welcome reminder of Emily’s love for you. She had bought a gorgeous charm bracelet for you; each charm painstakingly hand crafted by a jeweller to represent significant moments shared between the two of you. You didn’t know how to react when you had opened it, instead you bursted into tears and hung onto Emily for dear life.
She was so thoughtful. So eager to show her love for you.
So perfect.
You couldn’t help but imagine a future with her and what that would entail. The familiar laughing of your teammates notified you of their whereabouts. Penelope’s incoherent spiels drowned out any other conversation in the immediate area, like a fog horn would any other siren. Her bubbly nature despite what you faced regularly would never fail to amaze you. You admired her, truly, for she continued to shine in a world full of darkness; undimmed by the many people wielding instruments meant to snuff her very light.
Emily chuckled beside you, ever amused at Penelope’s antics. The small collection of empty glasses reminded you or Emily’s numerous half full water bottles strewn around the side of her bed. She had told you that they were there for when she got thirsty throughout the night but they never seemed to decrease in number.
It had made you giggle when you had first saw them, Emily’s antics never failing to surprise you. Her quirks made her the person she is and you wouldn’t have it any other way; even if it meant that you were subject to her playing with your hair as she tried to stay awake.
Penelope’s ramblings came to a halt as she seen you approach with Emily trailing behind. A loud squeal pierced the air, causing multiple heads to turn to the direction it came from, searching for the source in mere curiosity. The source being Penelope.
“Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.” She slurred out at you, the consonants in her words drawled out ever so slightly.
“Hi, Penelope.” You greeted cheerily, dropping Emily’s hand in favour of supporting your conversation partner as she began to sway.
Just as you managed to get her back into her seat, the sheriff approached you, sheepishly asking you for a dance. Looking over her shoulder for Emily in the hopes of getting away from an unwanted dance, you were surprised to see her already dancing with someone else.
A beautiful woman at that. The blond woman was whispering in Emily’s ear, something salacious you assumed based on Emily’s vibrant blush and embarrassed chuckle. Your world seemed to slow down as you only seemed to be able to focus on them, heart stuttering in your chest, stomach dropping.
You felt sick. Clearly your little tryst had been just that and nothing more. Once cool metal, a gentle reminder of Emily’s affection for you, burned your skin. You wanted it off. You wanted to leave and never show your face again.
A gentle hand on your arm was the final straw. The tears you had so desperately been holding back finally broke free, pouring out of your tear ducts as water would a burst dam. Your heart was aching, throbbing in anguish, relentlessly beating against your ribcage in an effort to escape the damage associated with heart break.
“Are you okay?” A distant voice called out. Muffled and far away, as a voice would sound if speaking to you through a barrier of water.
Glossy eyes flicked up and met the piercing blue gaze of the sheriff, flooded with concern at your current state. Your response, if you could call it that, came out in a jumble of words. Your eyes flicked back to Emily and the blond to see the woman leading your lover away. No. Emily wasn’t yours.
Seemingly following your pitiful gaze, Sheriff Lister pieced the information together.
“How about we go outside. Get some air, hmm?” She was speaking to you as you would an injured child, gentle and nurturing.
You gripped onto her arm as she led you outside. The tears clouding your vision made leaving the bar far more difficult than it would have been under normal circumstances. Sweet whispers from Lister were occasionally granted to you, grounding you to the present, keeping you out of your head and focussed on the task at hand. Leaving the building.
The night air was cold, borrowing body heat as a neighbour would a cup of sugar. Frost covered the window panes of nearby shops, frigid and distance in the think cover of night. You focussed on your breaths rising as white puffed clouds, willing yourself to calm down.
You knew that Emily had commitment issues You knew that she was unlikely to return your affections. Yet you still pined after her anyways.
A fool.
The telltale click of a lighter sparking to life alerted you once more of the sheriff stood beside you. Her eyes were on you, hawklike in nature as she studied you from underneath her lashes.
“So,” she drawled out the word. “You and your dark haired coworker?”
You nodded feebly, the cold catching up to you now that you had calmed down, subconsciously causing you to draw your body closer to Lister’s. Ever perceptive, she noticed your state and offered you her coat.
“Won’t you be cold?” You asked, not wanting her to freeze because of you.
“I’ll be alright, darling.”
She cheekily grinned at you; the type of grin that would be charming if you weren’t recently subject to such heartache, the type of grin that sent girls like you reeling. You muttered a small thank you. For her jacket or for the kindness she was showing you, you weren’t sure.
“How about we go get some food, hmm? I’m sure some takeout place will still be open.”
Your stomach growling was answer enough.
Tumblr media
Emily watched the interaction between you and that sheriff from across the street. Her stomach twisted uncomfortable as she watched her dry your tears, as she watched you wear her jacket and link arms with her. You should have been linking arms with Emily, not some random woman.
But, she couldn’t really blame you for seeking comfort elsewhere. After all, she had been the one to fall back into old habits. She had been the one flirting with another woman, with the full intention of destroying the very new, the very fragile relationship the two of you shared.
Emily Prentiss did not deserve nice things. She didn’t deserve you and your lovely smiles. She didn’t deserve your affection; especially after the stunt she pulled today.
Everything had happened so fast. One moment she was holding your hand, marvelling in your beauty and the next she was leaving the bar with a woman. A woman that wasn’t you.
She had seen you spot her with the blond, had seen your face fall and the tears you had not been able to hold back. And still, she followed the woman all the way until her hotel room.
It wasn’t until she got there that she had realised her mistake. The lips pressing against her were rough and sloppy. Inconsiderate of her feelings. All they sought was pleasure and a fast release.
She had pulled away then, leaving the hotel room with a flimsy excuse thrown over her soldier. What had she done? She yearned for your lips to be the ones on her, for your hands to be the ones touching her. She wanted your soft smiles and saccharine sweet kisses.
She needed them.
But, her self destructive tendencies had won again and she had lost the one thing in her life she wanted the most. You.
You who had to seek comfort in the arms of another woman because she had been the one to deal you pain. You who had been nothing but patient and caring towards her, never pushing her away when you had every right to do so. You who shone brighter then the sun and stars combined, brightening her once dark world until she could no longer feel the deathly grip of her past.
Emily didn’t deserve you. You were too good. Too pure to be corrupted by the likes of her. Yet you had always stayed.
Emily Prentiss had pushed away the only thing she held dear and she was the only person to blame. Her heart seemed to fracture with every step you took away from her, shattering completely as she heard your laugh- the one reserved for her alone- directed at somebody else.
But, she reasoned with herself, she deserved this.
Tumblr media
Lister, or Kate as you had quickly learned, had taken you to get pizza, buying a large for the two of you to share. The two of you were currently sat on a park bench, with you giggling at Kate dropping pizza on her shirt and Kate furiously trying to get the stain off.
“You know, rubbing it super hard isn’t going to make the grease stain go away.” You teased before taking another bite of your pizza slice.
Kate narrowed her eyes at you in faux anger. Her rubbing soon stopped as she decided, finally, that it wasn’t doing any help.
“So, you gonna tell me what’s going on between you and what’s she called?”
“Emily?” You supplied.
“Yeah, her.”
“It’s a long story.” You sighed wearily.
“Ehh, I’ve got the time to spare.” She shrugged as she said it before resting her hand on your knee. “But don’t feel pressured into sharing if you don’t want to.”
You smiled at her, sneakily taking the last slice of pizza out of the box while she was distracted.
“ I’m in love with her.”
She laughed at that. “Yeah, anyone with a pair of eyes can see that, sweetheart.”
She received a soft slap to the side in response but you carried on with the story. It seemed that once you started, you couldn’t stop. Everything you had been holding in, keeping secret from your friends, tumbled out of your mouth.
You were crying again. The events of the day being so emotionally overwhelming that you couldn’t help yourself. Kate tutted in sympathy as she drew you into a hug.
“You didn’t deserve any of that.” She assured.
“I know. I know that, I truly do but I can’t help but feel like part of me deserves it.”
“How come?”
“Well, look at her. Emily is amazing. So amazing that she outshines everybody in the room despite just standing there.”
“Hey, you’re not too bad yourself, y’know.” She joked, trying to lighten the sullen and serious atmosphere that had built up.
“I guess.”
Your somber mood was only heightened by the cold chill beginning to set in your bones. Kate walked you back to your hotel room and you thanked her for the night. However, you knew it was getting late and you didn’t want her walking home alone, especially after the gruelling case you had just finished, so you asked if she wanted to stay.
It was the least you could do.
Tumblr media
Surprise briefly coloured the faces of your team members before they schooled their features into a more neutral expression. What were you doing with the sheriff?
Emily was seething from where she stood beside JJ. Not only had to went on a late night rendezvous, but you had invited that woman back to your room and she was still here. Laughing and touching your knee without a care in the world.
That was Emily’s job. She was supposed to touch you and make you laugh. You were supposed to look at her like that, not the sheriff.
“What’s going on with those two?” JJ asked, nudging Emily with her elbow.
“I don’t know.” She spat back.
“You know,” she started carefully, not wanting to irritate her friend any further. “I saw you and that blond last night.”
She had said it as a statement rather than an accusation, but the way her eyes narrowed slightly and her gaze pierced through Emily’s suggested otherwise.
“Yeah, what about it?” Emily was getting defensive.
“Well, I don’t think you have the right to be jealous when you were all over that woman last night. We all saw you together.”
Emily huffed in aggravation because she truly had no right to be jealous, but she was. She had shot herself in the foot with her rash decisions last night and it stung. It stung so much that she couldn’t even look in your direction; fearful of your disappointed eyes or, even worse, you looking at another woman the way you once did her.
Tumblr media
“They’re all staring you know?” Kate observed with a slight gesture towards your team.
You turned your head to look over at your team, their faces unreadable as they looked at you. Emily, however, was the only one refusing to look in your direction, instead biting her nails. You had always hated that habit of hers, how it brought her so much pain but seemed to be the only thing that soothed her.
The only thing but you.
She wouldn’t even look at you? Your sadness soon turned into anger, however, as you realised that you did not deserve to be strung along like you had been. If she didn’t want to look at you, fine, you wouldn’t bother with her either.
JJ started walking toward you, her curiosity getting the best of her as she drew closer to you and Kate. Did you not have feelings for Emily?
“Hey,”
“Hi Jayje,” you greeted her with a smile.
“Who’s your friend?”
“You know… Kate?” You shot her a questioning look. “We’ve worked with her and her officers the entire case.”
“Well yeah, I know that she’s Sheriff Lister but..”
“What’s she doing here?” You supplied.
JJ nodded, albeit a bit shamefully. Her cheeks and neck tinting red made you smile slightly. You wondered briefly if she had came on behalf of Emily, they were best friends after all, but Emily didn’t care about you.
“Kate took me to get pizza last night and by the time we came back it was too late for her to walk home alone.”
“Oh…” she trailed off before looking back at Emily who was staring off into space. “like a date?”
You and Kate both burst out in to laughter, stomachs tensing almost uncomfortably as you leaned on one another for support. JJ stared at you perplexed. Why were you laughing at her?
“If you’re just going to laugh at me,” she muttered, brows furrowed and lips downturned. “I’ll just go.”
You quickly composed yourself at her upset tone and reached out for her. “JJ, no don’t go. I’m sorry for laughing. It’s just, Kate and I are friends that’s all, I was pretty upset last night and she helped me. That’s all.”
“Upset? What? Why didn’t you tell any of us you were upset?” She questioned. Weren’t you friends?
“Perhaps you should ask your best friend why I was upset.”
Tumblr media
Kate and you had shared numbers before parting with each other as neither of you wished to lose the friendship you had quickly formed. The flight back to Quantico was silent, a tense silence at that. None of that mattered now though as you finally back in the comforts of your own home. Your bed a necessary comfort after the tough week you had, it welcomed you as a lover would, warm and comforting.
Sleep evaded your grasp for the majority of the night causing optic to toss and turn in discomfort. What you were not expecting, especially at 4 a.m, was the abrupt knock at your door. You weren’t expecting visitors. Another three knocks rapped against your door. Your heart rate picked up and you reached for the gun in your bedside table before slipping out of the duvet.
It was better to be safe than sorry.
You barely registered the rain beating against the panes of your windows or the wind whistling a familiar tune. Instead you were focussed on the doorframe that loomed in the dimness of your foyer, daring you to get closer to it. Challenging you to a battle of wills.
You weren’t sure who you expected to be behind the door. Perhaps a rage filled criminal looking for vengeance or a renowned serial killer looking to make a reappearance. What, or should you say who, you weren’t expecting to be stood on the other side of the door was Emily.
Emily?
You went to slam the door shut, on,y to be stopped by the toe of a doc marten wedged between your dorm and its frame. How dare she knock on your door at this god awful hour. How dare she stop you from closing it. You did not owe her anything and you certainly would not entertain whatever pitiful display this was.
Furiously flinging the door back open, unconcerned with the bang it made against the wall, you jabbed your finger into her chest, effectively shoving her out of the doorway and back into the hallway. “What on earth are you doing here?” You hissed.
“Please,” she begged, eyes downcast shamefully. “please hear me out.”
“No. I don’t think I will.”
A sudden move almost toppled you over. Emily was on her knees, clinging you like her life depended on it, head nestled against your legs.
“Please!” She cried. “Please, please, please…”
Her sobs were muffled by your pyjama bottoms. You were in a state of shock. First of all, what was she doing here? Second of all, what had made her so upset that she was here, in front of you, down on her knees. Her shoulders were shaking alongside her sobs and you couldn’t help but feel slightly sorry for her.
After all, feelings don’t just disintegrate over night and, as ashamed as you were to admit it, you are still in love with her.
You unintentionally let out a frustrated sigh, which seemed to make Emily even more upset. You weren’t really sure how to deal with the situation you had so carelessly been thrown into, so against your better judgement you pulled Emily inside. She wasn’t making it easy though. It is very difficult to move with an adult holding onto your legs.
“Emily!” You admonished. “I cannot move with you clinging on to me as you are!”
Her form shrunk at your tone and you realised that you needed to go about this a different way.
“I’m sorry for shouting at you.” You whispered gently, free hand reaching out the toy with her hair. “Please, can you let go of me so we can go inside? I’m not going anywhere.”
That seemed to get her attention as her head raised to look at you. Your heart shattered at the broken ‘promise?’ she whispered. How could someone make you feel everything and nothing all at once? Emily Prentiss was an enigma. Five minutes ago you were so certain that you hated her. But now? Now, you weren’t sure of how you felt. You weren’t really sure of anything.
It was difficult but you had managed to get her settled on the couch before placing your gun down. She was lied down with your blanket draped over her slumped form. Her tears had subsided for the time being, not that you could see much of her face with your small salt lamp being the only source of illumination.
You were in the kitchen making hot chocolate for the both of you. You had a feeling that it would be a long night. A long, emotional night. Emily’s cup was almost overflowing with the generous amount of marshmallows and whipped cream you had applied to the top of her drink. Yours was less severe.
Plopping down next to her on the couch, careful not to spill the drinks, you handed hers over. You were grateful for the lack of light as it allowed you to study her face without consequence. She was staring at your fireplace, eyes lingering on the framed photo of you and her on the mantle piece, seemingly lost in thought.
Your apartment groaned in discomfort due to the oncoming assault from the storm outside. Emily’s coat had been hung to dry as you ushered her in, thankfully your legs hadn’t gotten wet. The air was chilly from the wind seeping through the cracks of your windows. Emily was currently covered with the only blanket in the living room. If only you weren’t so considerate.
Your subtle shivers seemed to rouse Emily from whatever daydream she had found herself in.
“We can share the blanket if you want.” Her voice was so quiet that you barely heard it over the storm. She lifted her arm, allowing you to get under the blanket but you declined.
You couldn’t stand being that close to her. Not now. Not after that night.
“I’m alright.” You hadn’t mean to sound so cold.
Emily deflated at your disinterest in being close to her and you were starting to get antsy. Your fingers drummed against your leg in short, consecutive movements- a self soothing gesture you find yourself doing during times of high stress.
“Why are you here?” Blurted out of your mouth before you could stop it. It may have been blunt but you want, no need, answers.
“I wanted to talk.”
“We have nothing to talk about.” You scoffed.
“Please,” she begged, reaching out for your hands. Silently grateful that you didn’t pull away when she put her hands in yours.
“Make it quick.”
“What is she to you?” She asked, sliding onto her knees so she could sit in front of you.
You laughed. Full belly laughed in her face at the audacity she had to ask you that question. “Excuse me? You do not get to ask me that. Not after you had your tongue down another woman’s throat.”
You were beyond angry. How dare she ruin what you have and then come to your apartment in the middle of the night begging to talk. Snatching your hands out of hers, you pushed her away from you and moved through the dark halls of your apartment, wanting nothing more than the comfort of your bed and Emily gone.
“You can leave now, Emily.”
She scrambled up from the ground and ran after you. You wanted to cry as you heard the her crash into your furniture. Not only did she have to break your heart but she had to break your furniture too. One minute you were in your bed alone and the next Emily was on top of you. Clutching onto your shirt, head hurried in your neck as she started crying again.
“Please don’t leave me.”
“We were never together.” You couldn’t help but want to be mean back but there was also a question on the tip of your tongue, itching to be released. “Why’d you do it, Emily? Why’d you go home with her.”
“I didn’t!” Her voice rose exponentially before she controlled her outburst and lowered her tone. “Well, I did but we didn’t do anything. I promise! You have to believe me. She wasn’t you.”
“Why did you do it?” You repeated.
“I was scared. Everything I had ever wanted had finally fallen into my hands and I didn’t know what to do with it. You’re so perfect and I knew that I didn’t, no I don’t, deserve you. I’m sorry.” Her words were kind of officiating to hear through her stutters but you could make them out.
“Sorry isn’t good enough.” You were being petty and you knew it but you wanted her to feel the same gut wrenching feeling that you had. Attempting to sit up, you pushed her off slightly, only for her to clutch onto you even harder. “Perhaps you should go find another woman to entertain yourself with. I’m not sure if a relationship with you is worth pursuing.”
“Don’t say that. Please don’t say that.”
“I can’t trust you, Emily. How do I know you’re not going to run off into another woman’s arms as soon as things get tough?”
“Please, I’ve realised my mistake. You know I’ll never do anything if the sort ever again.”
“I don’t.” You whispered, heart feeling like it was been torn from your chest with every word you spoke.
Your eyes refused to meet hers and she couldn’t stand it. She reached up and cupped your face with both of your hands, gently turning your head so that you would be looking into her eyes. You were shutting her out but she needed you to listen. She needed you to know how much you meant to her.
“You don’t know how much you mean to me. I would defy the laws of the universe if it meant, however selfish that may be, that I got to spend eternity with you. One lifetime is not enough. I will always crave, no need; I will always need that moment more, that second longer, because I am utterly and hopelessly devoted to you.”
“Oh, please.” You scoff. “You were all over her!”
“And you weren’t all over that sheriff?!”
“Kate,” you fumed, jabbing her in the chest with your pouter finger. “Was there for me because you made me cry. You do not get to bring her into this argument when she’s been nothing but kind to me.”
The reminder of the misfortune she had caused you made her look like a wounded puppy, ashamed and guilt ridden. “I love you.” Her confession was accompanied with tear filled eyes and a wobbly voice.
“I’m not sure you do.” You felt as if the world had stopped as you muttered the words. Was this the end for you and Emily? Had your relationship stopped before it truly started?
“Don’t you love me?” She cried, desperate to hear you say it, just once.
“I do.”
“Then why are you pushing me away?!”
“ I don’t want you to hurt me again.” You confessed.
“I won’t.” Was repeated over and over. Soft promised whispered into your ear and lips as you finally accepted her embrace.
Chapped lips met yours, moving against you so softly and slowly as if they were afraid you would bolt away at any sudden movement. Two tear stained faces met each other in the middle, seeking out the comfort only achievable from being close to the other person. Tentative smiles played on your lips as you briefly pulled away, reflecting a mixture of relief and apprehension.
Emily’s hand found the back of your head ands yours the small of her back, the gestures being both reassuring and vulnerable at the same time. Your eyes locked with hers as you both silently acknowledged the mistake she made and, Jody importantly, the lesson she had learned from it.
Your heart felt like it was about to leap into the unknown. The air between you was charged with the whispers of forgiveness and the feeling of heartache beginning to lift. Your touch became Emily’s lifeline, grounding her to the present. You were here and you weren’t leaving.
As your lips met once more, you knew that you and Emily would share a future; one tinged with the promise of redemption and no more heartbreak. The kiss mended broken threads and bridged the gaps that had seemed to have been too vast to fill.
Yes. The two of you were going to be okay.

You definitely had mixed feelings towards Leon when you were caught with him when on the look out for Ashely (once again). After the Raccoon City incident it was never the same after that. Lots of trauma, loss, emotions gone, etc. It was a shit list. To work for the government, but you only did it for Sherry and your best friend Claire. Finding out what Leon truly was hurt your feelings-sure people say it is strangely too soon to fall for someone for one night, but there is something there for the both of you, but Leon was focused on his job...not even thinking he kissed you at the transportation, patching him up in his sleep and all. You realized it was meant for nothing just for his job for Umbrella. Now seeing him again...you felt bittersweet. "It's been so long I haven't seen you, (Y/N)." The corner of his lip curls to a smirk. You did not give him a reaction as you remained emotionless,"Hmph...did not think I would ever see you again, Leon." HIs smirks fades away (like in the gif) as you put your knife back in your sheath by the side of your thigh. "Wanna explain any reason why you're here?" You asked as he shakes his head and walk away from you,"Maybe some other time." He leaves through the door as you stood there with mixed feelings. You want to get mad, cry-just confront him, but right now or ever is a good time. He is the one who will get away and it would be best for you to move on.
It was strange to witness such coincidences on things going your way to be less of a hassle. First thing came to mind was Leon probably much more ahead of you or even watching you without noticing. But, you brush it off and kept moving. You and Ashley got along. She was like a little sister to you and she saw you as a role model like a big sister. "That girl...she is just wasting your time you know." Leon said. You scoff,"Just like when you kissed me? When I patched you up when you were unconscious? Offered a damn arm and leg-" Stopping yourself from bursting out in rage you let out a deep sigh,"This is MY job, Leon. Just like you are doing yours." Yikes, that called him out. He tried to get some words out, yet he couldn't. "You wouldn't get it." He spat out. You shot him a glare,"Right...cause it is your job too. Later."
You really wanted to get over with it already. Eventually, you then developed feelings for Luis and lets just say things didn't go pretty for him. It's been the longest you haven't cried either. Sure, at first you found him annoying by his flirty and carefree actions, but eventually warmed up to his sense of humor. Ashely noticed it too...and someone else, but in silence. His death impacted you a lot though, because he wanted to help you and his last words stuck to you about even being the main perpetrator of your creations...can you still turn your life around? 'Can Leon do that too?' You thought. Shaking your head you wiped your tears and use your anger against Saddler and Krauser.
It was an intense fight against Saddler. At first you were concerned if you were ever going to complete your mission saving Ashley since you were her only option and requesting backup was not an option...or more of a possibility. Only to see Leon throw the RPG to you to finally ending Saddler's life. Of course, you succeeded by Leon's help. It is just like the past. This time Leon helping you instead the other way around. But, all hopes is lost when he had his gun to your head. "It's all business, doll. Hand the sample over." You grit your teeth and slowly stood up giving him the sample,"You do realize what you're doing, Leon." He gives a smirk,"Yeah I'm aware." The gun still pointed at you as you had your hands up. A chopper swings by as Leon runs and jumps off the area. You ran towards the edge thinking he may or may not landed right. He did as he was sitting comfortably inside and throws something at you as you caught it. "You're going to need that. Hurry. Time is not patient." He had some sort of controller and pressed on a red button. 'A fucking bomb!? He set this up!?' There was a key and a black cat charm attached to it. "Hasta lluego~" He winks and you rolled your eyes running back to Ashley saying the island is going to blow up. "WHAT-"
Thankfully, you made it out with Ashley in the jet ski. Well, she was drowning when jumping out of the exit, but you managed to help her up. During the ride Ashley starts to be a little curious,"So, after this you think we can do some shopping? Don't worry everything is on me! Oh and...about that guy. Leon, was it? Are you guys...you know?" I let out an amused laugh,"You really think him and I are a fling?" Ashley expresses her disappointment,"Aw come on! Tell me! You're a badass, what any man or woman wouldn't want you?" Sighing, you finally answered,"I'm like a part of him he can not let go of. Let's leave it at that~"

He loved being intimate with you, he truly did. But he felt like he needed to spice things up sometimes ; bring new stuff to the bedroom. But he didn't want to scare you off or do something that might be out of your comfort zone. So he didn't try anything new.
But you felt the same way. Moe was more timid and "fragile" so your fears where way stronger. It wasn't like he was fragile, actually, he's sensitive ; gets overstimulated easily. But one night when you two were getting intimate, it all came out. Both of you told each other you wanted to try some things new that you found.
Moe was so much more relieved that you feel the same way compared to you. You let him go first to "show you what he'd learned".
"I just found some new positions and stuff," he dragged out. "Show me then," you said, massaging his unclothed thigh. You two we're already out of your clothes. He responded by just kissing you, roughly. "Get on me, back to me," he seemingly ordered, although he tried to make it less orderly like (which failed) but you didn't mind. You sat yourself at his lower stomach, your back to him, to where your cunt barley touched his already hard dick.
"There ya go," he said encouragingly. He sits up a bit, snaking his arms under your thighs. "Relax your legs for me, keep your hands on my chest and lean back," he said in a reassuring tone. He asked you if you were ready, like he always does, and pushed his dick into you once you confirmed you were. He brought his hands, which were still under your inner knees, to where they were resting on the back of your neck.
Your legs were resting against your boobs, Moe moved around a bit so you were both comfortable. Once you told him he could move, he started off fast, which you usually doesn't do. The new postion made it so his dick couldn't more of your sweet spots, which has you seeing stars. Because of the new position you weren't able to cover your mouth, so you let everything out. Thankfully you two were alone in the house.
Moe seemed to be enjoying it too. He bit down on your shoulder, and his legs shook more than usual. Both of you were sweating more than usual. "Shit! Fuck, baby! More, more, more, more," you practically screamed at him. He fixed his legs and started going faster and harder, causing your moans to be louder and louder.
Sooner or later you felt your orgasm coming, which you did warn him about. "I'm gonna-" you cut yourself off with the knot in your stomach finally bursting while your legs are still forced to be held open. But he didn't stop, not for a second. He did go slower for a couple seconds before going back to his usual speed.
Tears starting brimming in your eyes and your legs start to shake. Your voice cracked in the middle of moans multiple times. Moe brought a hand down to your clit, rubbing it at a speed to match his thrusting. Now instead of trying to close your legs, you opened them more, inviting him in. Drool escaped your mouth and down your chin as his thrusts and fingers got faster.
"Fuck Baby!" You screamed at you felt your second orgasm coming through. "Come wITh me- dear," he said, his voice cracking. His thrusts got sloppier but his fingers kept their pace. You came around him first, he slowly followed after. It was only when you looked down when you noticed the mess you made. "Damn that was hot" Moe said, breaking your thoughts. He hugged you, taking a not of how limp your body felt. "You're tired already?? That was only the first thing I figured out. And you better get ready because I learned how to last longer too, sweetcheeks," he flipped you around and kissed you and you, too overwhelmed to cringe at the pet name, kissed him back.
Needless to say, you two didn't sleep much that night.

Hi! I congrats on 1600 followers! I wish you more followers and inspiration~ Can I request 👀 for Malleus, Idia, Lilia, Azul and Cater? I'm sorry if it's too much. And maybe little sweet angst for boys? 👀
Hi, thank you for the ask!
Follower Event: Malleus, Idia, Lilia, Azul, Cater with "I've had more of those bad dreams, you were ten feet in front of me. I went running but I couldn't catch"
Malleus
A fae's life is long but a human's is short. It's a reality Malleus had to face when he met you for the first time when you dropped into the ceremony in the first part of the school year. He grew to like you, he wanted to spend time with you forever. But that wouldn't last for eternity, he knew that
One night, he had a dream. It was the first time he had a dream in a long time, and it wasn't pleasant. You were going back home, going back to the place you had originally fell from to come to Twisted Wonderland. While you seemed to be sad, you didn't turn around to look at him while he ran to hug you. But in a flash, you stepped into the mirror and disappeared.
Waking up with cold sweat, he looked outside of his window. Did Malleus really want you that badly? Sure you two were close, but you two weren't dating quite yet. He wasn't sure how to tell you his feelings since he knew he could be scary, but there might not be a lot of time left for him to truly express how he felt about you. He was determined to tell you the next thing in the morning
It was a calm day, he went first thing to Ramshackle to knock on your door. Malleus waited patiently, but no one was coming to answer. Finally, after twenty minutes, Grim came running from the main school direction. "W-what is it?" Malleus asked, a bit surprised that the magic beast wasn't in the dorm. "Y-Y/n *huff* they just found out they're going back!"
For a moment, it felt like there was an earthquake. Malleus looked at Grim with a surprised but disconnected look. "Is that so? Without even a proper goodbye?" He said and started walking towards the school. He couldn't let you leave like that, no, maybe he didn't want you to leave at all. Grim called out to him and said to not do anything bad but Malleus couldn't hear him. Maybe the magic was overflowing in the fae, he wasn't sure. But he wasn't going to let you go
Idia
He had a lot of nightmares, all the time. That was the main reason he didn't like sleeping and instead preferred to spend his nights downing energy drinks and playing video games. But it all changed when you came into his life, for once it seemed like he was at peace
Ortho was the one that had introduced Idia to you. He was reluctant at first since his younger brother said to Idia that you were super cool, and yeah you were! Idia didn't think he was worthy of getting much attention from you, but you opened up to him and let him be vulnerable around you. It was more than he could ask, and he soon found himself head over heels for you
But that would also start the bad dreams about you. It was just Ortho at first, but now it was also you. Monsters dragging you away, him hurting you somehow, or you just leaving him all of a sudden. They happened almost every night that he couldn't stand lying down on his bed.
"What's the matter?" you asked one night when he laid down but refused to sleep. "Ah, it's nothing, don't worry," he mumbled, but you could see right through him. "It's okay, tell me everything you need to, I'll listen." That was all it took for him to suddenly burst into tears. You were too kind, you were almost like the entire world to him. He told you all of this while you hugged him and patted his back
"Idia," you shook your head. "I'm not leaving, I'm not going to leave you. I'll always be with you." Ah, Idia felt it was unfair that he got to be around someone so amazing. You comforted him for the rest of the night, opting to grab a hot drink and cuddle with him
Lilia
Fae's are selfish creatures, it's just that Lilia learned to push that nature of his down. He was much wiser than Malleus so he knew just causing an earthquake wouldn't do much, but when it came to you it seemed like he couldn't contain his emotions.
Lilia would often tease you more than anything. He had no fear of jumpscaring you in the hallways or popping out from the corner with a "hah!" Either way, he liked seeing you flustered but this was mainly to mask his insecurity that you could one day disappear.
Fae live longer than humans. He knew you would one day leave without him. He had a horrible dream like that one night, and he woke up panting. It was a strange nightmare, one that mixed his days as a part of the army and his current life. He couldn't get rid of the image of your corpse in his head
Seeing you the next day so bright and happy made him feel better. "Lilia, you look a bit dazed, are you alright?" You asked, brushing his hair out of his face a bit. "Ah, don't worry about me. Just caught up in some thoughts," he laughed weakly, waving his hand to gesture it was no big deal. But of course this wasn't the case, he was still thinking about that dream he had. He could see you so alive but you could be gone in the next minute, who knows what could happen.
Lilia won't tell you how he feels directly, especially his fear of losing you one day. Thus, he makes a deal with himself that he'll enjoy every minute, every second he's with you. He can't go on regretting his life decisions in the future, right?
Azul
If there was one thing he didn't want to come true, it was a dream he had where he saw you leaving. It was a horrible dream, one where he had broken your trust because of his greed and one where you justifiably left him in his own dark desires. Azul knew your first impression of him was when he overblotted, but he wanted to start anew, and this time with you by his side
He started off awkwardly, with you having to hold the reigns most of the time in the relationship. Outside of dates and treating you out, Azul couldn't do much. He had a hard time telling you how he felt and things like that.
But this would change when he and you were studying together. He let you work on his desk while he slept. You thought you heard a mumble of your name and looked around but Azul wasn't awake. Thinking it was just your imagination, you were ready to go back to your studies but you heard a whimper next.
"Azul?" you looked at him, wondering if he was making those noises. Turns out yes it was him, except he was having a nightmare, one which was about you leaving. Azul was starting to cry, causing you to worry and try to wake him up from whatever torment he was going through. "Azul, Azul I'm here, it's okay."
Those words seemed to echo in the back of his mind. It slowly woke him up but he was crying a lot. He realized you saw him in his vulnerable state and was about to kick you out of the room but all he could do was reach out his arms and hug you. Holding him tighter, you told him it was all okay while stroking his hair, trying to comfort him
Cater
If there's one thing Cater regrets, it's letting himself take a bunch of photos with you. It wasn't that it was bad photos, but more that the memories of you would hurt him even more. You had left Twisted Wonderland only a few days ago, and all he had left of you were pictures
He had a dream one day, one that was about you leaving for your world. It was selfish of him to want you to stay, especially because you didn't even originate in Twisted Wonderland. But you were also the only person that looked at him for who he was. You let him be vulnerable, you didn't care if he wasn't always a bubbly photogenic student
Grim was the first one to tell him that you were leaving, but by the time he got there you were already going through the mirror, it was heartbreaking that all he could see was your back. "Y/n!" he shouted, wanting to say goodbye one more time, reaching out as he ran.
You turned around, realizing it was Cater and trying to stop the mirror from pulling you in. Maybe it could give you some time to say goodbye. But it kept pulling you in, and you had to fight the current that was taking you away from the person that you couldn't find the courage to say goodbye to. Cater and you took each other's hands and said your goodbyes, promising to meet each other again soon. However, it was only a minute long before you were gone
Cater stood there, silent and arms still outstretched. He wasn't sure how to act, it was also the first time Ace and Deuce had seen him so serious. Trey was about to ask Cater if he was alright, but Cater just gave him a sad smile and said "well, good things don't last forever, right?"

rotwm series: mountain with a view — q.hughes
Tumblr media
based on mountain with a view by kelsea ballerini
-
It's 7 a.m. and I'm on a mountain with a view. I'm the only one, alone, at a table meant for two. Big Sur looks beautiful this morning and I should be missin' you, I should be missin' you.
You sat in the window nook of your Airbnb. In all your time travelling around after Quinn you’d never truly experienced California, how beautiful it was.
It was the same Airbnb that you’d stayed in together on your honeymoon.
The honeymoon you had to settle for when your luxurious all inclusive honeymoon was ruined. Quinn had decided to go back to Vancouver early to start training and after a lot of back and forth arguments he agreed to a long weekend in California.
You thought you’d be sad to return, this time without him but you weren’t. You did everything you wanted to the first time round that Quinn deemed
“Not fun”
“Boring”
And “a waste of time”
You didn’t miss him and you felt so happy.
You're across the pond at a show, I think, in Amsterdam and the pictures look pretty, at least they do on your Instagram We say good morning, then goodnight I wonder if you even know where I am, where I am
You couldn’t even remember where he was playing tonight. You were only reminded when you saw he had reposted a picture from Brock’s story onto his.
They were out at some restaurant all smiling and laughing.
You’d actually only checked instagram when your mom had asked you where Quinn was playing that night and you couldn’t even answer her.
You used to follow him around when he went on roadies, travelling to New Jersey and Toronto just to support him and now you didn’t talk whenever he was on the road, he’d ask what you got up to whenever he got home but you knew he didn’t really care and just wanted to fill the silence.
I'm wearin' the ring still, but I think I'm lyin' Sometimes you forget yours, I think we're done tryin' I realize you loved me much more at twenty-three I think that this is when it's over for me
Whenever you did finally do something together it was a work event — the canucks annual charity ball.
“Oh my goodness I can’t ever get over how gorgeous this ring is!” Brock’s girlfriend smiles, grabbing your hand and admiring your wedding ring.
“Thank you!” You replied, blushing and leaning into Quinn’s side.
She scowled “Quinn you’re not wearing yours?” You looked down at Quinn’s left hand to find the gold band gone.
“Oh! I must’ve forgot it” he brushes it off, giving a tight smile.
You didn’t reproach the situation that night.
But you watched him across the next few weeks every morning as he brushed over his wedding band in your jewelry box.
He never put it on.
“Hey, why aren’t you wearing your wedding ring?” You asked one morning, brushing your hair in the mirror.
“It’s not a big deal” he grumbled.
“It’s our wedding rings Quinn, it is a big deal!”
“God why are you such a bitch lately? Why can’t you be chill like you used to?”
You look at him, wide eyes “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?!”
“Like why can’t you just be like when we first got married? Silent and Supportive!”
You didn’t even reply, simply turning to leave the room before you burst into tears.
I think that this is when I cut the ties I think that is when I set myself free One day you'll ask, "When was it over for you?"
I'm takin' the ring off, I'm finally cryin' Don't try to find yours, no reason to fight it
You'll say I'm crazy for bein' the one to leave Scream I'm just like my parents and givin' up easy
But you never took that last flight to see me.
“Babe come on you don’t have to do this!” Quinn cries, following you through the house.
He’d come home from practice to find your suitcases by the front door and you standing at the kitchen counter waiting for him.
He asked why your suitcases were outside, what was wrong. You never answered, simply sliding your wedding ring along the granite and he groaned lowly.
“Baby…”
“Don’t Quinn!” You snap “It’s over”
“It Just just be over!” He screams “We are married!”
You look at him waving his arms around wildly and tears drop down your cheeks
“Quinn… let me go please”
His eyes soften and he steps around the counter “Baby please… why?”
You looked at him, he could feel the pain you were in just by your face. He wanted to reach out and hold you.
“Quinn… you never come home anymore”
“I’m always home?!” He screams, hands waving around.
He wasn’t screaming in anger, he was scared screaming. Screaming to hold onto what was slowly slipping away from him.
You sniffled, hands shaking as you reached up and held his face
“I don’t know the man that walks through those doors anymore… but it’s not you that comes home to me”
The tears were streaming down his face as well as yours as he mumbled
“You can’t leave me”
“Quinn I should’ve left a long time ago”

           _________________________________________
Sonny was the one who suspected you were pregnant. He noticed how much bigger your boobs were, your mood swings, and the fact that you were sleeping and eating more than normal, so he talked to you about it, but you told him that you were just tired, and that your boobs were growing and that everything was normal. However, Sonny was convinced that something else was going on. Your period was always irregular, and you were on birth control, so you were truly not worried. But he insisted on buying you a pregnancy test, saying it was just to be sure. And, to your surprise, it was positive. You were pregnant.
You almost didn't believe it. It was something that the two of you hadn't discussed yet. You already knew how he felt about starting a family. He wasn't totally opposed to it but football was his main priority. You weren't quite sure how to react, so you stayed quiet, not wanting to press the issue or make him uncomfortable. The sounds of sniffles brought you out of your thoughts. You glanced at him and noticed the tears streaming down his face. He had been struggling to keep his composure, but the emotion of the situation had gotten to him. He suddenly held you tightly. It was a comforting embrace, and you found yourself holding back tears of your own His grip was tight and firm as if he was afraid you would disappear if he let go. "We're pregnant," he chuckled lightly. You were surprised by the sudden display of affection, "You're not mad?" You looked up at him in disbelief and found his face smiling down at you
That's when realisation hit you: Sonny was to cry out of happiness. You smiled back and asked, "Are you really okay with this?" He nodded his head and brushed away a tear as he said, "Yes, we're going to have a baby!" You felt so much joy at that moment and suddenly found yourself overflowing with it.
Son and you were visiting the doctor for your initial ultrasound. And even though you only had a tiny baby bump, Sonny loved it a lot. It boosted his ego, knowing that it was his baby. He beamed with pride, seeing the image of his soon-to-be son or daughter on the screen and whispered to you that he couldn't believe how much their lives were about to change. Even though there were a few nerves mixed in with the excitement, the moment felt perfect, and you couldn't wait to find out the gender.
The day after the ultrasound, Sonny came home with baby clothes, making your heart melt. You two were already planning the baby shower and how you were going to tell his fans. Sonny was so excited, and every time he spoke about the baby, his eyes lit up. You both started to think about the impact of this news, and it was obvious that this was a huge milestone for both of you. You decided to announce it when you were almost at the due date, it would be better for everyone. You had mixed feelings; on one hand, you were happy and excited to share the news of the upcoming arrival, but on the other hand, you were both scared as well.
As you were getting closer to the second trimester, you weren't feeling well, aside from nausea and constant vomiting. You had no energy and felt like you were always exhausted. You were both anxious to get an ultrasound and see if everything was okay, but Sonny had training in the morning, so you opted to go later during the day.
Later in the day, You're just getting into a good sleep when you roll over and feel wetness on your outer thigh, which immediately wakes you up. You search for the light switch on your bedside table, turn it on, and rub your eyes to help you adjust to the darkness, thinking you must have been dreaming about peeing a little too vividly. Even though changing the sheets is something you really don't want to deal with, what you see is beyond changing. Alarms are immediately raised by bright crimson, and when you look down, you see that the source is exactly what you had hoped it wouldn't be. Your heart skips a beat as you realise that it isn't just pee . There isn't much time to respond as a sharp pain ricochets through your entire torso, coming from your womb and making you immediately want to throw up. Forgetting that Sonny had left for training, you yelled his name. Despite your trembling, you manage to pick up the phone and dial 911 for an ambulance as the pain grows more and more intense. Your mind is in a fog as you explain what happened to the dispatcher, and they assure you that help is on its way. You can feel tears streaming down your face as the pain increases and you focus on your breathing to keep yourself from passing out. You hear a siren in the distance, and it gets louder and louder as you await help until you see the flashing lights of the ambulance coming to your aid.
"Don't contact anyone" is all you can muster out before letting the darkness consume you.
You awoke with no memory of anything wrong, but the unfamiliar surroundings and the IV attached to your arm reminded you of what had happened; suddenly you couldn't breathe again.
Your entire world is turned upside down in a matter of hours. As they induce you for a birth you'll never be able to celebrate, they hook you up to several IV bags, and for the next several hours, all you have for company is a pain that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. Finally, against your better judgement, you say yes when the nurses ask if you'd like to hold your baby for the first and last time. Her flawless, contented face breaks you. Despite the circumstances, you can't help but be enamoured. Tears well up in your eyes as you realise that, while this was supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life, turned out to be one of the saddest. You gently rock your daughter, who has become your entire world in the span of a few short moments. You try to ignore the feeling of guilt as you think about how this little person will never experience the love, protection and security that come from being part of a family. The moment her little breaths ceased, it was like your body shut down, you began hyperventilating. You feel overwhelmed with emotion, trying desperately to come to terms with the sudden and unfair loss of your daughter. The nurses whisked her away and rushed to inject you with tranquillizers. Your last sight of her was her tiny body, blanketed in white, motionless, and pale before darkness engulfed you once again.
"Where is Y/N?"
"I need to see my girlfriend."
"I can't believe no one called me sooner."
Loud yelling jolted you awake.
You could sense the anger and despair that filled his mind as he raced down the corridor of the hospital, desperately searching for you. The nurses had finally led him to you, and when he had spotted you laying on the hospital bed his eyes softened and the frustration melted away as relief flooded through him. The relief was short-lived, as he noticed how drained you looked and how you couldn't even look at him.
" I'm so sorry," you said, your voice strained and barely above a whisper.
He started to freak you out when he saw you crying. He moved closer to the bed and took your hand gently in his, his thumb brushing over the back of it. He looked deeply into your eyes, trying to read what was wrong with you "It's okay," he said in a calming tone, "tell me what's wrong." You looked away, unable to look him in the eye as you explained what happened.
"It was a girl," you managed to choke out
It has been a little bit over a week since you heard the most terrible news of your life. You failed to speak, properly eat, and get out of bed. The void in your heart was just becoming more apparent.
Sonny stood by you the whole time, not leaving you alone unless he had training. He cried with you, held you. But you were so depressed that you couldn't bring yourself to reciprocate the love and attention he was giving you.
"y/n, you have to get up," Sonny says to you while caressing your face.
"I don't want to" you look away from him, burying your face in the pillow.
"It's been a week since you last got up. You can't stay on the bed the rest of your life, Y/N" he runs his hand through your messy hair, making you look at him.
"I just fucking lost my daughter, Son. I'm a mess. You never wanted to have children this early anyways so you must be glad" you can feel the tears running down your face.
"She was our daughter. Ours. She was my baby, too. You don't think I feel like shit too? Just cause it wasn't in my plans doesn't mean i didn't love her too." he gets up, walking out of the room
Son was staring at the wall in the living room. He felt empty inside like someone had torn out his heart. After a few minutes, he got a hold of himself and went to lie down next to you. not knowing what to say or do. Neither of you spoke while maintaining your upward gaze. Sonny didn't move an inch as you rolled over and faced the wall. He moved toward you only after you extended your hand to him. He spooned you while you clung to him as you sobbed. As you both sobbed over your loss
" I'll always be here for you. I can't even imagine the kind of pain you're feeling right now. But I don't want to lose you too. I know nothing I say will make this easier for you, but I want you to know that you are not alone "
You turn back to face him and say, in a low voice, "I'm sorry. You must be struggling, too." You keep wiping your cheeks as the tears roll down.
"Just promise me that I'm not going to lose you too." He looks at me with a hurt expression, his eyes brimming with tears "I can't see you crying every day," he says, and you try to nod as he wipes your tears away.
You can feel a glimmer of hope thanks to Son's love. You looked into each other's eyes, knowing that it would never be the same again. You hugged him tightly, hoping it was enough to hold onto the little bit of hope he gave you.
He kept whispering his love for you and assurances that everything would be fine for the rest of the night. That it would get better. He swore that from then on, that no matter what happened, he would never leave your side and he would make sure you were safe. He would go to any lengths to see you happy again.

One Piece - Excerpt from Fic in Progress - Zoro/Sanji
Where Sanji was once a promising figure skater, and Zoro is the guy who moves next door.
rating - explicit
tags - angst, hurt/comfort, modern au, ableist language from character, internalized ableism, injury, chronic pain, violence, miscommunication, pining, from something awkward to lovers, past child abuse, happy ending, slow burn, tags to be added
Sanji tried to act like his back didn’t bother him- that it was just an inconvenient injury now passed, long gone- like his ice skates and the bitter bite of winter. But sometimes his lower back ached after sitting or standing for too long, or his spine felt like it was on fire and woke him up in the middle of the night, or his muscles would tense or spasm at any time without reason, and he had to convince himself it was nothing. “I just slept wrong.” He would tell himself. “I just pulled a muscle.”
Almost a year ago, Sanji had an accident on the ice. Sanji, pro figure skater, silver medalist for his country in last year’s World Figure Skating Championship, the man projected to be a top contender for gold next year, if he really tried.
Now, he wasn’t even an option. Too much had happened. It was too chaotic, too difficult to process. He couldn’t even go on the ice anymore, not professionally, not physically, and especially not emotionally. He could never go back out there, and it broke him. It wasn’t even his fault.
He caught a glimpse of the scar in the mirror. The long scar that tore down his back in a jagged line, from the nape of his neck to his pelvis like a bolt of ugly lightning to a tree.
He could act like he didn’t see it, but then he would get in the shower. He would lather soap on his back, and the tips of his fingers would brush over the rough tissue, so different from the rest of him, and he couldn’t forget, not then. Sometimes, when his mind wandered, he would push on the scar wherever he could. His nerves would spark with pain, but he gritted his teeth and bore it- it was nothing like the pain he experienced that day. And because the pain then was so much worse, he could at least take this much now.
Eventually he would relent, giving up against the pressure of his own hand. The way the pain fizzled up and fired through all of the nerves in his back made his whole body jerk forward, made him sick. And once again, for another day, he would be weak. A coward. A baby. A fool for thinking he could ignore his life changing injury. An idiot for thinking he would ever go back to how he used to be.
He did it again. The mind wandering. He gripped the bathroom countertop, waiting for the sharp bursts of pain to subside. Eventually, the stabbing, prickling sensations dampened into a dull ache, not as intense but not quite gone.
He stood straight (or as straight as his spine would allow), threaded his fingers through his blonde hair, hopped in the shower, and didn’t so much as get clean as he used the shower in the morning to wake up. He sighed into the cold water that hit his face and then frowned as it made his bones ache. He felt like an old man, and he was only 22. He spun the shower nozzle until the water began letting off steam.
When he got out, he simply put back on the pajamas he was wearing. He hardly moved around anywhere anyways. Not like he was sweating. He paused and looked at himself in the mirror.
Dark circles enveloped his under eyes. He didn’t think his eyes looked blue anymore- or maybe they were, just darker, like a shadowy gray storm-cloud before the sun truly sets. Could eye color change in your early twenties? Or did he just hold himself different, the light no longer catching on his irises like they used to? He thought his cheeks looked hollow, and he brought a hand up to inspect his face. His fingers touched a scruffy beard and mustache. When was the last time he shaved? He shrugged.
Everything was fine.
Zeff was in the kitchen, chopping onions unfazed. Sanji thought he didn’t have tear ducts. He’d never seen the man cry- not for sadness and definitely not for onions. Not even when he almost died. He had just been really angry then- not at him, but at the situation. Zeff didn’t like things he couldn’t control.
Sanji slid past the older man and reached for the cupboard.
“Breakfast soon.” Zeff grunted, not looking up from his knife. He was mincing garlic now.
“Okay.” Sanji nodded, grabbing a mug from the cabinet and placing it under their coffee machine. He popped a pod into the top, pushed the lever down and pressed the drip button. The machine whirred to life and a glorious stream of liquid goodness descended into the mug. It stopped the whirring and the dripping and shut off automatically, signaling for Sanji to pick up his reward. Zeff scoffed.
“What?” Sanji sipped at his coffee, choosing to bite. Zeff was annoyed at something. It was probably stupid- like how he would get mad over how Sanji chose to cut potatoes. He walked past Zeff and to the kitchen table. He leaned slightly to put the mug down.
“You used to be proud to grind your own coffee grounds. Now you’re just lazy and okay with drinking that crap in a pod.”
Sanji felt indignant, a heat rumbling in his chest. He felt… frantic… defensive, like he should retort back to protect his dignity.
He used to grind his own coffee, physically, with a stupid little hand-wound coffee grinder that his hands could no longer grasp onto.
“Grinding my own coffee is a little harder now, considering,” He gestured to his own body. “I’m a fucking cripple.”
Zeff stopped his knife and looked at Sanji, eyes squinting. He stood there, just standing and staring for a little bit. “You need to go out more. You look like shit.”
Sanji rolled his eyes and turned back to his coffee. “Yeah, sure, whatever.” He didn’t want to go out. He didn’t want to go out and be pitied or fawned over. His hands got clammy at the thought of someone recognizing him. He didn’t think he could stand it if someone talked to him about figure skating, or worse, that day.
It happened once, when he went to a park 8 weeks after his surgery, and was sitting at a park bench while Zeff walked to get him a warm cup of tea. A woman walked up and stood over him, asking him if he was the Sanji Vinsmoke. He could barely lift his head to look at her. Shame washed over his skin. “Y-yes.” He had stuttered out. Instantly, her eyes got darker, not with malice or anger but with pity. Sanji hated it. “I’m so sorry about what happened to you.” She had said. “It’s such a shame they let that man get so close to you.”
He lowered his gaze, looking at the woman’s shoes, shiny little kitten heels which sunk in the dead winter grass. He looked at his shoes, which were stupid and ugly but Zeff said that they were good for his back. Something about extra support in the soles or some shit. He missed his dress shoes.
Sanji got lost in the ground, his ugly shoes and the dirt, until he noticed the woman was no longer there. Her shoes were replaced with a grumbling Zeff. “Some people have no manners.” He grunted as he sat down. He handed Sanji his tea. Sanji looked up and around. The woman was gone. He looked to Zeff, who got himself a coffee and was sipping at it with a look of disdain dripping from his face.
Sanji took his coffee and walked to the living room and sat down, uninterested in the conversation. He didn’t want to go out.
“I’m serious!” Zeff called from around the corner. “You need sun and exercise. Just sitting all day isn’t good for you, even if you think you’re healed as much as can be.”
“Zeff, I’m really not in the mood to have this conversation.” Sanji closed his eyes and held his coffee close.
“How about this,” Zeff said. Sanji heard the click of the stove being turned off and Zeff’s footsteps from around the corner. “Come with me later to the new neighbor’s house.”
Sanji opened his eyes and looked at the old man, confused. “Why?”
“Because you’re sad and lonely and need to meet people. I think he’s a firefighter or some shit.”
Sanji leaned back and closed his eyes again. No way was he going out today.
well, here’s an excerpt from a fic i’m working on for zoro and sanji! it’s not up on ao3 yet, but it will be soon :) i hope people like it
