I've thought of this AU before and came to the conclusion that someone else needed to take his place in order for him to live, but I'm going to pretend that it's completely possible to return!

Darkness was all there was

Until he began hearing the wind, feeling the way it danced across his skin.. before a warmth replaced it all

As his sense came back him, so did the strength to open his eyes

And they opened to you

Sat beside him, almost in tears

You couldn't help but pull him into a hug

He was worried, you knew, but you just wanted to hold him again

"You're.. you're okay. We- we were so worried.."

It came back to him

The door.. Nyx...

Ryoji.

He felt a pit form within his stomach

Was everyone else okay?

He.. he shouldn't be here, should he?

It was then that he finally took in his surroundings

A hospital room

The window was open a crack and there were flowers resting on the sill

And the tree just outside... it was green

"It's- months, Min'... it's been months."

You retreated back into your seat, giving him space

".. is it spring?"

"Yes.. it's April."

Three months.. he's been laying here for three months

"Oh! I- I need to tell Mitsuru that you're awake."

You sent her a quick text, a simple "He's awake"

She would know immediately, there was no reason to explain

"(Y/n)."

He brought your attention back to him

"..we won, right?"

"Yeah, we did."

You smiled at him, "Everything's fine now."

It almost felt too good to be true, did he.. truly seal the door? Were the shadows gone?

...was Tartarus gone?

Everything that happened the past year, all the dangers, were gone...

It didn't feel right, but at least it was okay now

"I think you have to stay a few more days, but you should be back at the dorm in no time!"

And you were partially right

Mitsuru gave him a few more options when it came to his living situation

The dorm, a place with Junpei... or a place with you

He knew what he wanted

His senior year was a bit difficult, having missed a good portion of the work, but he managed to pass at the top of his class

You and the others were always there too

Even though Mitsuru and Akihiko were moving forward with their lives, they came to visit often

They didn't stray too far for too long

And he had much more one on one time with you

Dates use to be far between due to the full moons and missing people, but with all of it gone they became frequent

The both of you got to enjoy your one year together

Minato was happy to see you smile again; laugh again

Your goodbyes had been said and done in December, yet neither of you wished to leave

He questioned why he lived, maybe in another life he wouldn't have.. maybe it was but a chance

But he was just happy to experience the life he thought he had lost

It's sus that Bruce adopts so many kids around the same time as Batman, right? How does Brucie Wayne manage those rumors and allegations?

He and Batman are ex-coparents who bonded due to their adoption addictions. All of the Bats are Bruce's kids too, and he'll fight anyone who tries to arrest them. He hates Batman, but those Birds are his kids.

Does Bruce know the Birds' identities? No. Doesn't matter. Being a parent is loving your kids unconditionally even if they are illegally fighting crime.

And no. Brucie's kids are not Batman's. He will fist fight that bat-fetish maniac if he gets anywhere near Bruce's civilian kids. He might fist fight him if he yells at the Birds too.
