I learned recently from family members that EMTs and paramedics are having trouble right now with people in accidents refusing to say whether they are biologically male or female, stating it’s “none of their business” and “doesn’t matter.”
Friends, IT DOES MATTER! Male and female bodies ARE biologically different and can exhibit similar symptoms for different reasons, and if the EMT doesn’t know which you are, THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TREAT YOU because they can’t be sure what’s wrong! This is not a matter of gender politics, it is a matter of life and death! PLEASE, be honest with your healthcare provider, especially in an emergency! THEY DO NEED TO KNOW!

Dear Gamer Woman 3d.
Can I please know if it's inadvisable to put any popsicle up my butthole or just one with caffeine, and why?
Thank you
Butthole in Bchicago
Well I'm glad you asked.
You see, Popsicles of any kind are made by dropping the temperature of a liquid until the molecules kinda crystalize into a solid. The temperature inside a human butthole is generally between 97.5 F (36.4 C) and 97.9 F (36.6 C), whereas Ice can be anywhere below 32 F (0 C).
The skin inside the butthole is different from the skin on, say, your hand; it is thinner, permeable, and its job is to absorb as much liquid from the waste products in your colon as possible to prevent dehydration.
Not only can an ice object stick to these walls, similar to how an idiot child's tongue might stick to a frozen lamp post, once stuck, the thin flesh has a much higher chance of tearing.
Tumblr media
Now while the popsicle might begin to melt inside you, and you might think "oh now it will be slick and wet and that'll lubricate it!" you could be ... pun intended ... sorely mistaken. Remember, the stuck flesh in question has one job: To suck water out of your poopies to stop you from dehydrating while expelling waste from the body.
So the more good ol' H20 in the popsicle, the more it will just be absorbed as it melts, which will leave it stuck. In fact, as your body absorbed the liquids but not the abrasive solid crystals, it could get even MORE stuck, and cause MORE micro-abrasions. Abrasions and cuts in the colorectal tract are bad news because of the bacteria in the tract- any cut can get infected or end in sepsis. So while it melts, it isn't guaranteed to lubricate you if it's made of anything aside from pure frozen anal lubricant. And even if it were made of pure anal lube, it's still probably a bad idea becaaaauuuse -
It's still a weak, brittle solid, with a crystalline structure. If you've ever dropped an ice cube into a warm liquid, you notice it cracks. Those cracks have sharp edges, that can cut or pinch the flesh inside you. And because the inside of the body stays over 90f/35c, it isn't impossible for those cracks to happen.
All that said, I know for a fact that there are plenty of kinksters who might disagree with me. Yes, people have survived putting all sorts of weird stuff inside them. People have also survived climbing to the top of mount Everest! I'm just saying it's a bad idea to ignore all the frozen bodies around the precipice. The ones who made it to the top AND BACK DOWN had help AND luck on their side.
Likewise, the kinksters that I know that DO fuck around with weird butt stuff and weird ice stuff and whatnot, are usually doing so in kink communities with one or more doctor in the community, and are surrounded with multiple EMTs around them during such activities. So if you INSIST on doing the inadvisable thing, at least try to find a trustworthy medic in your kink community to accompany you on your misadventure in case it causes an actual medical emergency.
But another rule of thumb, is if it feels rough to the touch (as many Popsicles would after you suck on them a bit) then it will not feel good in your butthole.
The TL:DR is Yes. It is inadvisable to put any popsicles in your butthole. If it's just the cold sensation you're looking for, I might recommend at best putting a body-safe toy or body-safe lubricant in a ziplock bag in the fridge for a bit.
NOT the freezer.
I wish you the best of luck, Butthole in Bchicago! Stay safe and keep asking questions. Such questions can safe a butt life.

the firefighter show, episodes 3-5
okay the bouncy house thing is in fact one of my greatest fears <3
also, i'm pretty sure "repelling down a cliff" is not standard training and probably should not be handled by probie!buck. these things are usually done by special teams (eg, hazmat, water rescue, car seat), who are a select group of people who get trained on special rescue procedures (or other things) and are often not all at the same firehouse. is everyone on the 118 on every single special team? man, their salaries must be insane with all the extra team money they get.
hydrocodone? did anyone not give narcan as soon as they saw the pill bottle? that would have cleared things right up. actually, the cop should have immediately given narcan once she saw it was hydrocodone. cops do that all the time.
oh they're playing video games on shift? must be a holiday. because, you know, they're really not supposed to be doing stuff like that during shift. they have a lot of actual work they need to do during the day. like training. maintenance. cleaning. cooking. (this is actually a pet peeve of mine because while i understand the scene is supposed to be cute bonding, there's already a large contigent of people who think that firefighters sit around all day doing nothing and just waiting for calls and then complain because firefighters are paid by tax dollars. we don't need to feed into the they slack off when they're not on a call narrative, okay?? so many people think they do jack-shit during the day. for example at my husband's work, they're busy all morning with various firehouse tasks or training or education or other important things, like going to make sure that businesses are up to fire code. they get a two hour quiet time after lunch, and can technically do what they want but the idea is they probably want to get a nap in in case they're up all night. more firehouse tasks until dinner/clean up ajd then i think it's lights out/quiet time around 8pm--again, some free time to do quiet activities until bed. and then sleep/go on calls. my husband has brought his gaming laptop to work on rare occasion to play during quiet time but this is rare occasion, and he's far more likely to do it on holiday schedule when they don't have to perform near as many tasks) (see also, people complain about what firefighters buy for their meals at the grocery store everyday because "why should my tax dollars pay for them to eat that", totally ignorant to the fact that aside from communal condiments and stuff ffs put in their own money every morning to buy food for meals that day).
why isn't chim dressed in uniform. that's also kind of required. wait, did chim show up on an off shift day to talk to them? (that's not a thing that happens ever lmao). or did he just leave during shift after yelling at his officer???? write up write up write up.
wait, are they in fire gear for a medic call???????? whyyyyyyyyy you never wear that stuff unless you're at an actual fire. 1) it sucks and it's full of carcinogens. 2) it's heavy as hell 3) there's no point, you don't need fire gear on a medic call. (ps, buck's fire gear is missing his neon probation sign)
"smartest emt" please do not refer to a paramedic as an emt ever again bobby. they will get offended.
"our job ends here at these doors", no bro, you do you still have to write your report at the hospital, sooooo....you still technically have a job to do. get going.
"just got off the phone with the surgeon" (and got extensive details about my subordinates medical status), sir, that's a hipaa violation, majorly so. the most the medics will get are "did the person we transported survive or not".
sorry, but i'm pretty sure i just saw buck doing the more ineffectual chest compressions ever.
yea a ff/pm is not allowed to attack a bystander (as much as they may want to sometimes). that's a write up hen. honestly i bet this fire station has the worst google reviews in the world tbh. one star: "i'd give them zero if i could!!! one of them attacked me!!!"
also, you never pick up a personal call on the job buck lmao. i actually know this from personal experience. (because everytime something goes wrong with the house and i need to get in touch with my husband he rejects the calls until he can call me back lmao) (these aren't super need him immediately emergencies btw, i think one had to do with the power/circuit breaker and i had no idea wtf i was doing and i needed to actually talk to him not just through text) (actually i think the only time he would have ever actually picked up a call from me during a call would have been when i was close to my due date. and even then, it probably could have waited 15 minutes for them to be done) (also if it was a true emergency, you call the firehouse and get a hold of their superior by calling their station or the main station if everyone at the station is out and then someone will get a hold of them)
okay, so they dress in full gear for a medical call, but they wear their class bs to a plane crash in the water? where's their water rescue gear? what is happening.
i have....thoughts on how this show conceptualizes the idea of the fire family versus what it actually is and why. and it has a lot to do with the lack of union presence in this show. but i will need to watch more to conceptualize my thoughts fully on this. but i will say this (and will repeat it): the fire fam is more than just one insulated station. you know who's actually really, really important? the people you went to academy with. my husband's got a friend from academy and they've actually never worked together since then, but they're still closer than half the people my husband has worked with. and if my husband ever ended up in the hospital, he'd be the first one to visit. all i'm saying, bobby, is that chim's academy buddies would like to have words with you about chim's family.
oh good, we're at the part where this show ended right away because bobby never would have been hired on another fire department ever again. listen, drugs and killing 148 people and most likely never being able to pass a psychological exam to continue doing this job, he supposedly was born in 1968, which would have made him 46 at the time of the fire. and while i did look up lafd's candidate requirements and there's apparently no upper age limit apparently (aside from common sense because you should not start an extremely hard physical job at 50 when you have to put in 30 years for the pension), there's probably several reasons why a 46 year old with a history of a debilitating back injury and drug/alcohol abuse would not end up being hired on at the lafd. and make no mistake, bobby would have to apply to work there. you don't get transferred from state to state, especially onto a big city department like that.
that being said, i will give them that addiction is a problem within the job due to the stress of the things they see and how physically stressful it is on the body. it probably varies by department, but here's how they handle it. here, you get one. one chance, one time you show up to work drunk or high and you are allowed to say "i have a problem" and the department will help you get helped. if it happens ever again, you're gone. do not pass go. do not collect $200. you're done. maybe you can try to get on a contract department or volunteer department instead.

CW: (attempted?) suicide, talks of a pedophile, COD community as of this moment, talks of a tiktok live today
I haven't been on Tumblr as of much recently so do not know all of which you guys do know, however I have been engrossed in the COD Cosplay Tiktok community and people over there.
To make it short over the last few days, or week, there were a few cosplayers who made content that were ousted as engaging in weird interactions with minors whilst they are adults.
Today one of those creators went live on another account and eventually EMTs come to the house and well...I'm sure you guys get the gist.
People are sharing the video on tiktok. If you are not staying off of tiktok because of this, please report these videos instantly. If you cannot handle seeing something like that, take care of yourself and stay away from the app for a while.
If anyone needs to talk or needs anything, I am here for you on here or on Discord @ashtrobanana.
I am so sorry that the community is ending up like this. We need to try harder to keep this community a safe space for everyone of all backgrounds and ages.
I love yall ❤️

Sorry it took so long, almost lost the ask and had to go through hell and back to retrieve it! This was a really fun prompt, honestly part of what took so long was picking my favorite set up! Enjoy!
Woe to Needless Heroics (Platonic Pike x Reader)
Tumblr media
Requested by; @trekkiehood
Rating: Teen (Minor gore and language)
Word Count: 1k
Content: SFW/Platonic, GN!Reader, Lieutenant!Reader, Semi-canon EMT!Pike, Protective!Pike, tw claustrophobic environment, blood, broken bones, environmental whump, hurt/comfort.
Teaser: This rickety ship wreck is full of unpleasant surprises. You just made rank, deciding to accompany Captain Pike down a hallway in search of survivors, and find more than what you'd bargained for.
The wreckage creaked and gave way above both of you. You shoved the Captain out of the way before he could think of doing the same.
“Lieutenant!”
You were pinned, your leg and chest were screeching with pain, crushed under the weight of the failed support beams on top of you.
“No, no no no, come on!” It would’ve been a whisper if it weren’t for the echo.
You heard the sounds of physical effort and clattering metal “Lieutenant Y/N are you alright?!”
You couldn’t answer, couldn’t breathe or see.
“Lieutenant please respond!”
“Here sir! I’m here!” You croaked.
You struggled to pull what was surely your minced leg out from beneath the debris, but you couldn’t seem to catch your breath. The wind must have gotten knocked out of you.
More clattering metal, then a beam of light from a flashlight, the Captain had found you! You both sighed in relief, but the Captain’s face fell almost immediately, as did your gut in reply.
“That’s not good,” he said quietly to himself.
Captain Pike’s eyes were darting about, assessing you, the beams, the walls around. It did nothing for the anxiety. Or was the pain in your chest just from the weight of the metal pinning you to the ground?
“You think you can help me get this thing off you Lieutenant Y/N?” He smirked through his poorly disguised intensity.
You nodded, but when you tried to help him with the beam across you, you felt yourself starting to hyperventilate. The captain looked alarmed, reevaluating. It seemed he didn’t need much help with the beam, he was pretty strong as it turned out. Especially with the increased sense of urgency rippling through his features.
“Wasn’t the smartest choice Lieutenant. I know you just made rank but playing hero like that is the fastest route to well, this.” Captain Pike knelt beside you, looking worried, maybe disappointed.
“No choice, sir. Saved-” You wheezed and coughed, something was definitely wrong with your chest.
The pain in your leg was getting worse too, but the last thing you wanted was to further humiliate yourself in front of the Captain. Though the creeping fear your life was in danger the longer you stayed in this shipwreck.
“Heads up wouldn’t’ve hurt, literally” he laughed half-heartedly as he rifled around in his pocket for something “We could’ve both dodged it.”
You weren’t sure if you believed that or not. The thing he was looking for almost fell out of his pocket, rolling away before the Captain before he snatched it back up again.
“Medical tricorder sir?” You tried to sound casual and not terrified. Failing in all likelihood.
“This isn’t my first away mission, best to come prepared, and uh you might wanna stop talking.”
You winced in shame, the Captain’s expression softened.
“Don’t need a tricorder to tell me that you’ve got a punctured lung Lieutenant. Don’t want you hurting yourself more than you-“
The metal behind you shifted, your leg protested wrathfully, something tore. You cried out with what little strength you had in your damaged lungs.
Seeing the blood starting to pool where your leg was still trapped beneath a wall of metal and stone. Pike instantly opened his communicator.
“Captain Pike to away team, Lieutenant Y/N is injured and trapped under debris. Can’t move them by myself without risking further collapse. Doc, do you copy?”
“On my way.” The communicator crackled.
“Always when the transporter can’t get to us. Isn’t that always the way?” Pike said with a mix of exasperation and amusement.
You didn’t find it all that amusing.
“Am I gonna die sir?” You blurted with a harsh whisper that trailed into a whine.
The Captain looked at you instead of your wounds or environment for the first time since this mess started, taken aback and sympathetic.
“Oh no, no! Hey.” He placed a hand on your shoulder “You’re gonna be just fine, M’Benga is gonna be here any minute, and it’ll be a lot easier to pull you out with the whole team here. Nobody’s dying today. We’ll get back to the ship and you’ll be out of sickbay in 24 hours tops. You’re gonna be fine.”
He looked down the hallway impatiently, not taking his hand away from your shoulder. You were so tired, but too scared to let yourself rest. The rational part of you believed your Captain, and the hand was immensely reassuring, but the rest of you? It was scared of where you’d be when you woke up.
In what felt like an eternity later, Dr. M’Benga and the four other away team members turned the corner.
“Here I was thinking that we would be doing search and rescue for the crew of the Hermes, not for our own.” The CMO commented dryly.
“You’re not alone on that one Doc, now, let’s get ‘em out of here.” Pike replied.
Three crewmen held the debris in place, Nurse Chapel crouched at the ready to take care of your leg, M’Benga was doing further scans of your pulverized ribs.
“Take my arms alright? We’re gonna pull you out.” The Captain instructed softly.
“Three, two, one!”
It hurt like a bitch, but you could feel yourself pull free, the cold of the wreck hitting your blood soaked pant leg like a space frigate.
“Yikes! Looks like an undercooked lasagna down here.”
“Nurse!” M’Benga chided.
“Sorry! Working on it.” She replied.
You looked up incredulously, Nurse Chapel’s face looked like it was debating on whether to laugh or apologize to you. You daren’t look at your leg, deciding to take her word for it. Her total bluntness had earned an involuntary and excruciating laugh from you.
“See, I told you you were gonna be just fine.” Captain Pike chuckled “But seriously don’t laugh, takes forever to heal. Believe me, I know.”
You wondered if he’d ever tell you that story, it didn’t matter really, you were alive, and the Captain had helped you stay that way.
That was good enough for you.

How do you think Carlisle deals with a loss of a patient? I’m still a student but I’m an EMT and I lost my first patient. Cardiac arrest. I knew there wasn’t much hope but it still gets ya
Hi, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your patient. I can only imagine how difficult and heartbreaking it must be for you. Please take care of yourself, and talk to someone or a mental health professional about it if you're feeling like need to❤️
I feel the loss was still hard for Carlisle, even though he'd been doing this for years. He still needs to take the time to process his feelings. When he was all alone, Carlisle's faith could be the source of strength and comfort in times of difficulty. He would talk to someone who shared his faith or read scriptures that bring him peace or pray and meditate. He would occasionally talk to colleagues who have gone through the same thing. The support from the community has led him through the tough times. His diary should also enable him to identify and cope with feelings about the death and his role as a professional. And accept death as a part of life, and it is a part of his job.
After Edward was transformed, his telepathic talent would sense that something was wrong. Edward would give Carlisle space to deal with his grief, advising him to take time off when things got worse in case he lost in that experience. In the early years, Carlisle sometimes chose not to say too much to Edward, considering the impact on Edward's young mind after his own loss of parents. But Edward's presence, his maturity and silent company were enough to help, and Carlisle knew that someone finally cared about him and was there for him. After Esme came along, her words of affirmation, told Carlisle that he did everything he could and that he shouldn't blame himself, and it's okay to feel sad and angry. And that he shouldn't blame himself. Esme taught Carlisle with her "bossy" tenderness that he should prioritize self-care: go hunting to feed himself and make sure to do things that make him feel better. She would hug him from behind and cuddle under the blanket with him.
Having a big family. Sometimes listening to his family members' playful laughter, their bickering, or just being in the same room with them can pull him out of his grief.

PAW Patrol Episode Thoughts - Season 2
Another cross-post from my DA, although this is the last one since it's been like a year and I still can't bring myself to finish season 3.
Anyways, as a reminder, here's my scoring system that goes from 1-10 based on my initial reaction:
1/10 - The episode you'd force your worst enemy to watch on repeat
2/10 - Just awful
3/10 - Pretty terrible
4/10 - Didn't hate, but wouldn't wanna watch again
5/10 - Just okay
6/10 - Decent, wouldn't mind watching it again
7/10 - The average good
8/10 - Really liked it!
9/10 - This is a must-watch
10/10 - Probably my favorite episode ever like maybe two are going to get this rating
To keep things simple, I'm not getting into point values, so just because two episodes have the same rating doesn't mean they're equal to me. And yes I love my OCs and will be bringing them up whenever I want because this is my post.
Without further adieu, here's how my rewatch of season 2 went.
Episode 1: Pups Save the Penguins/Pups Save a Dolphin Pup
A: Already the animation is a downgrade. Something about Marshall sitting on a swing like a human is very disturbing, although with the debut episode of a new season comes the first showing of Super Spy Chase. But seriously, Adventure Bay gets SNOW, are you now trying to tell me it's a tropical area and an iceberg would last going to and fro southern South America? Weak for a new season's first episode. 5/10
B: Marshall being knocked out of the elevator and his uniform put on a toy dolphin, leaving him to scramble up the pole has to be one of the funniest jokes they've done. Still, it feels lacking. 6/10
Episode 2: Pups Save a Space Alien/Pups Save a Flying Frog
A: Rocky learned how to fly alien tech in a matter of minutes, amazing. Still, this one wasn't as bad as I was thinking it would be. 6/10
B: Didn't notice it before, but the top floor of the lookout got a redesign for this season. It went from beige to blue. More of Chase's crush on Skye is shown, Chase is actually overall very cute and clingy in this episode and Marshall is also great. 7/10
Episode 3: Pups Save Jake/Pups Save the Parade
A: A cave episode, immediately Tara would be perfect here. Here's the debut of Marshall's EMT gear, I actually like Marshall doubling as an EMT since real fire fighters often times do both jobs. 7/10
B: At first I thought this was cute and then we got inflated Marshall. Please no I've unwillingly seen too much inflation fetish-- Overall okay though, Chase was once again very cute. 6/10
Episode 4: Pups Save the Diving Bell/Pups Save the Beavers
A: Francois stop being mean, as long as something old still works, it's better to use it rather than have it in a landfill. But Turbot...you knew you lost the steering fin so why did you think you could just drive? Although, first episode with Zuma's sub and it was pretty good! Rocky diving and Marshall traumatizing that poor woman on the beach was great. 8/10
B: Yumi, you don't put hay in the coop, you put straw. Hay is for eating, straw is for bedding. This is an episode where Nami's animal skills would really come in handy, though I am just so happy to see them communicating with animals in a way that isn't words for once. 8/10
Episode 5: Pups Save a Ghost/Pups Save a Show
A: They're baiting a trap for a dog...with a chocolate chip cookie. I get they don't know it's Marshall, but...dude. Oh wait, Rubble eats it at the end and calls it a liver chip cookie. Um...ew. 7/10
B: Oh look, Rescue Knights 6 seasons early. But did they just have Marshall try to do a Tim Allen "Uwha" grunt reference?
Episode 6: The New Pup
IT'S EVEREST TIME, BABY!!!! Aight but the first 5 minutes is just an ad for the PAW Patroller, like Ryder I don't think self-driving vehicles are legal and pretty sure having a robot that sits in the seat to do the driving doesn't change this rule, he's clearly not even very good at it yet. But we meet Everest and poor baby is so lonely. BUT JAKE GIVES HER A GRANOLA BAR THAT HAS RAISINS IN IT LIKE BRO YOU WANNA GIVE HER KIDNEY FAILURE? Anyways, Everest steals the show here, but aside from her there's not a whole lot going for this? Kinda sad considering I used to love this episode and I'm probably rating it higher than I should because I just love Everest so much. 6/10
Episode 7: Pups Jungle Trouble/Pups Save a Herd
A: First time in the jungle, huh, and Marshall really just jumped on a snake and then nearly got eaten by a carnivorous flower. I must admit, the dialogue with Mandy just stealing Ryder's Pup Pad is pretty funny, although they really just wanted an Indiana Jones moment, huh. 7/10
B: Ah, the episode that features 3 seconds of a Chase recolor which the whole fandom wanted to return as an actual character. Do love how Chase's bully here is a sheep. 7/10
Episode 8: Pups and the Big Freeze/Pups Save a Basket Ball Game
A: Does the town not have snowplow/salt trucks? At all? Goodway, you should know better than to drive faster than you can control your car, and really they called Rubble to clear the roads and not Everest? She was an afterthought? In a snow episode? Okay but Zuma and Skye skating at the end was cute. 7/10
B: They really are facing off against Boomers, huh. I know this isn't the first time the rivalry between Goodway and Humdinger has been shown, but this is the first full on "yeah Foggy Bottom cheats" moment. Still, Marshall having no confidence in himself and everyone helping to build him up is cute. 7/10
Episode 9: Pups Save an Ace/Pups Save a Wedding
A: This is the opposite of Sonic Lost World where the motor somehow causes damage to the wing, also Marshall just randomly exposing people to radiation with his x-ray screen for no reason. 8/10
B: Do they only invite the PAW Patrol so they get free decorating? Of course though, they censor the kissing because that's...a no, I guess? But Skye was really desperate to catch the bouquet. 7/10
Episode 10: Pups Save a Talent Show/Pups Save the Corn Roast
A: I know they're dogs and them playing music is great, but...ROCKY THAT'S NOT HOW YOU PLAY CHORDS. Why is Al acting as if he's never met the PAW Patrol before like...heck they helped him IN THE LAST EPISODE. I don't normally care for the singing, but here it was okay, just 2 Marshall-has-no-confidence episodes so close together. 8/10
B: Popcorn and roasting corn are two different types of corn, they aren't interchangeable. Regular old yellow corn will not pop. Also they're serving and eating food THAT'S BEEN ON THE DIRT. Pretty sure that's a health code violation. 6/10
Episode 11: Pups Leave Marshall Home Alone/Pups Save the Deer
A: Rubble was the writer's pet of season 1, but honestly I'm enjoying Marshall getting a big spotlight here, I can't believe I didn't like him for a long time. Katie this is why you don't have automatic doors to your grooming parlor, but it means we see Marshall and Katie with a bunch of adorable kittens so I'm actually okay with this. Marshall was funny and cute. I'm glad to say this was even better than I remembered it being. 10/10
B: EVEREST, MY BELOVED! I guess when Ryder made Everest part of the PAW Patrol, that included Jake, too. I don't wanna think how cold it has to be for the bay, which is most likely salt water, to freeze that solid. Also if Nami was a member at this point in time, her animal skills would once again come in very handy. 7/10
Episode 12: Pups Save the Parrot/Pups Save the Queen Bee
A: Are Ryder's dogs not color blind? Cause they can see red and green pretty well. Something that is accurate though is birds being incredibly hard to tell their gender. 6/10
B: This exists. Lots of the stuff in it is accurate to bees though, which is nice. Dogs do love honey, too. 6/10
Episode 13: Pups Save a Mer-Pup
Ah, the fantasy in the show starts. Gotta love Chase being the biggest skeptic around, like don't you know when you're fed this exposition, the myth is gonna come true? Still his reaction was so priceless. You know Zuma and Skye also get along really well in this episode, it's cute. 8/10
Episode 14: Pups Save an Elephant Family/Pups and the Mischievous Kittens
A: Turbot really sleeping in the jungle without a mosquito net, huh. I mean...that was an episode, I guess. 5/10
B: Ah, the debut of the Catastrophe Crew. Did they always have names though? The Rocky kitten was called Tabby. Don't know why Ryder didn't call all the pups to help clean up, but Nami's gear was made for picking up after storms, so she would've been great here. 6/10
Episode 15: Pups Save a Friend/Pups Save a Stowaway
A: Another Marshall episode, but this one is sad. One of those cliché "I heard someone saying bad things and assumed it was about me." That said, it was still an alright episode. 6/10
B: Cats are curious but I can tell you they hate car rides. Surprised she didn't scream the whole way there. 7/10
Episode 16: Pups Adventures in Babysitting/Pups Save the Fireworks
A: Did Ryder get a VA change mid-season? He sounds so different here. Although the theme song playing 3 times was a bit much... 6/10
B: Surprise, show, but mailing most animals isn't allowed and I can assure you, piglets aren't. They do not go through the same mail as apples and shampoo. Also no fireworks either since those are a big safety risk. Chase really just stole a buggy though, huh. 7/10
Episode 17: Pups Save a Sniffle/Pups and the Ghost Cabin
A: I'd question how the virus spread so quickly to all the pups but after the past few years I don't think I need to. I will question why each of them has their very own branded box of tissues, though. 6/10
B: Yes, Chase, the mice will be sad, but that covering Rocky did will not keep them out. You need to stuff the hole with steel wool and CERTAINLY DON'T FEED THE MICE. THOSE ARE NOT PETS. 6/10
Episode 18: Pups Save an Adventure/Pups Save a Surprise
A: Poor Mr. Porter, he just wants a break but he's with a toddler. Also...don't give dogs chili. It's too spicy for them. This episode was more of a fire safety information dump than anything, although learning these types of things as a kid didn't stop me playing with matches. 6/10
B: Contrary to popular belief, tomato juice does in fact, not remove skunk spray. How did this myth even get started. Also he was wearing white clothes and they were still white, like...tomato stains, man. 6/10
Episode 19: Pup-Fu!
I feel like this came out just because it was the height of popularity for Kung-fu Panda, but after playing Xenoblade X and having to listen to Bozé, I can't hear "Sensei" without cringing. This was...something. 4/10
Episode 20: Pups Save the Mayor's Race/Pups Save an Outlaw's Loot
A: I am very quickly getting tired of the amount of problems being caused by the Catastrophe Crew. Do cats always have to be the enemy to dogs? 5/10
B: Annnd another Humdinger episode, you know I don't blame the pups for basically spying on him every time he steps foot in the city. Geez though is he RIPPED he just pulled a huge log! That has to be at the bare minimum 300 pounds! Not as strong as Ryder though, freaking 10-year-old just lifted an entire chest full of gold out of the ground. 6/10
Episode 21: Pups Save Walinda/Pups Save a Big Bone
A: Wally gets ass, confirmed. 6/10
B: Ah, excavation, something Tara would be great for, but that's it. 6/10
Episode 22: Pups Save a Floundering Francois/Pups Save the Pop-Up Penguins
A: Chase, were the cones really necessary when Rubble was just planting a bonsai tree...? But man does Francois cause so many problems, seeing this as a double-rescue though is cool. 7/10
B: Someone tell me how penguins get in a train freezer car in the first place, please. 6/10
Episode 23: Pups Save a Snowboard Competition/Pups Save a Chicken of the Sea
A: If Everest could clear the driveway with her snowcat the entire time, why did she sit there letting Jake shovel tons of it by hand? Also Humdinger is back but he's so minor in this episode that it's tolerable. 7/10
B: Okay, Cali underwater was pretty funny. 7/10
Episode 24: Pups Save a Pizza/Pups Save Skye
A: Marshall, sitting in a bunch of food people are going to eat is just gross. Also are they really using dough that fell rather than just making a new batch? Like pizza dough is 5 ingredients, it's not hard to make. Good they differentiated actual pepperoni from the dog kind, though. 8/10
B: Gotta love Skye, something bad happens and she takes it in strides. Everyone being so concerned about her is also very cute. Although don't give dogs ENTIRE BOWLS OF MILK, JAKE. 8/10
Episode 25: Pups Save the Woof and Roll Show/Pups Save an Eagle
A: Cleaning up after a storm? NAMI? But a celebrity is driving themself and that is because this is a work of fiction. Chase's smug grin after being able to tell off his mayor is great and surprisingly, the singing isn't annoying for once. 7/10
B: Ryder you need Byte to help you tinker with the Lookout electronics. ALSO WHY ARE YOU WORKING ON A CIRCUIT WITH ACTIVE POWER TO IT DO YOU WANT TO DIE??? I must say, it is sweet how Ryder's not making Skye deal with an eagle, well, at least right away... 7/10
Episode 26: Pups Bark with Dinosaurs
Remember when episodes like these were just dreams? But these dinos should have feathers and I have to admit, the sound effects they have for them are hilarious. Also dino on dino VIOLENCE. For a dream episode, it was pretty solid. 7/10
Season 2 overall:
While this season was still pretty good and I have a lot of nostalgia for it, I can see the heart starting to go. Some of the characters are losing personality and more than a few episodes feel so lifeless. Humdinger shifted from a rival to an actual villain and Marshall was the big writer's pet this time around, so it evened out somewhat. Just the sheer repetitiveness is really sinking in and I'm afraid even someone as amazing as Everest can't save that.
Will say this half makes me ship ZumaXSkye because they have so many good moments in this season.

15 questions for 15 mutuals
Tagged by @agrownupgeekgirl . Thank you my dear. I don't do much here anymore but this dear lady holds a special place in my mind. So I'll play along for her.
Am I named after anyone?
Sorta. My middle name is a honorific to two uncles who served in the Navy during WW2.
Do I have any kids?
2. A son 24 who is going to community college and trying for a writing/art degree. And works at a Wendy's. He's autistic so we're letting him find his own path.
I also have a daughter, 20, who decided that college wasn't for her and she became an EMT. She works local and is enjoying her job for now.
Do I use sarcasm a lot? Constantly.
When was the last time I cried. Not sure. Probably listening to some song on the radio.
What's the first thing I notice about people? Probably their overall body shape. I don't tend to look people in the eyes unless I'm speaking with them.
Eye color. Dark brown. Very dark. My wife likes to call it chocolate brown.
Sports do I play? Bowling. I'm not great but I enjoy getting better. I used to be good but lack of practice and old age changed the way I bowl.
Any special talents? No. Just a old guy who has a decent memory for trivia.
Where was I born? The cradle of liberty, Philadelphia. The East Falls section if that helps you.
Happy endings or scary movies? Happy endings please. I like when the hero wins. Or the good guys save the day.
Pets: Haley a gray tabby who's a bit of a bitch, but loves me. Hazel a black tabby who thinks I'm Satan incarnate. I'm the only one strong enough to give her her medication. But she's a dumb cute fluff ball to everyone else.
Height. 6'1" 13 inches taller than my bride. Who is currently searching desperately for a pair of 6" wedge navy platform heels so she can be in the same pictures with out me having to bend over in them. We're going on a cruise to Alaska soon. She wants nice pics from the elegant night and hopes that with tall enough heels and the help of a staircase, we'll be close to even.
Hobbies. TTRPGS, Bowling, reading. Disney stuff. Comics sometimes.
Favorite subject in school. Computers and sciences. While history was easy it wasn't a favorite.
Dream job. Not sure anymore. I don't really want to work anymore. Just be lazy and occasionally fuck around and find out.
Tagging the few people who I think still post here. A lot of people I followed when I started here aren't here anymore.

Trauma Stewardship: An everyday guide to caring for self while caring for others by Laura Van Dernoot Lipsky and Connie Burk
After working in primarily entry level mental healthcare positions, I can't express how important it is for people to learn how to nurture themselves! In healthcare, there seems to be a constant need for repressing one's emotions as a result of keeping the client/situation as the priority. This book breaks down the 16 signs of trauma exposure responses individuals may cultivate as a result of working in the emotional taxing fields of social work. I will list below the qualities of people (This book includes interviews with professionals such as EMT's, environmentalist's, child welfare workers, etc.) who shared similar characteristics needed to maintain resiliency for their mental health's sake. The authors listed other methods to center oneself in addition. While I have come to realize healthcare is not going to be my career choice (or degree choice T.T) I appreciate the incredible coworkers I have had and the wisdom they have shared with me. This field has caused me to grow as a compassionate human being and the client's will always hold a special place in my heart:) For anybody currently in the field, please read this book and feel comforted by the stories of other professionals struggling along, regardless of the years spent supporting other's and/or their causes. We can't support others without supporting ourselves first.
P.S I can't remember if these are directly pulled from the text or paraphrased by me so sorryyyy:)
A sense of Personal Control
Stress resistant people perceive a connection between their own actions and how they feel; they believe in their own capacity to influence the course of their lives.
Pursuit of Personally Meaningful Tasks
They are present and engaged in our lives, and this helps them to be active not passive, during challenging times.
Healthy Lifestyle Choices
They show "decreased use or general avoidance of known dietary stimulants of refined white sugar, caffeine and nicotine; they seek out multiple periods of hard exercise each week; and they find time each day for a period of relaxation."
Social Support
They have relationships with others who can serve as a buffer in dealing with difficult situations creating space for inquiry.

Time And Space Displaced Persons (A “Between the Stars” Story - 2/?)
Here’s the newest chapter! @simdoodleswrites's OC, Aurora “Ro” Holiday, finally lands on the Enterprise in this chapter. She just doesn’t know it yet. Please enjoy!
Time And Space Displaced Persons - Aurora "Ro" Holiday has a life in Kansas City that involves her job, her family, and her podcast about aliens that isn't all that bad. She likes this life, she does, but she wonders if she's meant to do more, be more. Then comes a freak storm and one minute she's in her attic fixing her equipment and the next she's on a spaceship 200 years in the future, in a bulkhead full of uniforms. When the drama surrounding her arrival settles, she wonders more about where she is, when she is, and who she can trust. The answers are beyond her wildest dreams...
CHAPTER 1 | CHAPTER 2 | SERIES PAGE
Her time spent at the coffee shop was rather productive if she did say so herself. Weird weather was on its way in, but that was the only topic among the locals at the coffee shop that piqued her interest. Otherwise, she ignored everyone and worked on her podcast, following up on emails and occasionally going outside to make calls to friends and sources.
She could have easily done all that at home, but there was something that nagged at her that she needed to be part of the world. Yes, she dealt with people in her community as an EMT on a fairly regular basis, but it wasn’t the same. Being cooped up at home working on a podcast which was, essentially, chasing after conspiracy theories would just make her the weird person with no life. And while it was true she was single at the moment and had few friends, her time spent at the coffee shop had started to make her one of the locals and she took some pride in that.
Though it wasn’t fun when the other locals took an interest in her social life: occasional blind dates, people being set up with her as she sat and worked on her own business...it had tapered off in recent months, but once she’d become one of the regulars and the others had embraced her, it had been an awkward few months. After her last few bad dates, they’d stopped doing it, and she was grateful. She might find someone at some point, but it wasn’t her mission in life.
That was, honestly, what her podcast was for.
By the time she wrapped up for the day, saying her goodbyes to the barista and the other locals, the weird weather that everyone had been talking about had come into town. She could taste metal in the air, a sour taste that was unappealing after the coffee she’d had, and she could feel her hair frizz and lift slightly as she walked back to her apartment. Hopefully, if she kept her windows closed, these side effects of the ion storm wouldn’t be too bothersome.
Her key sparked as she turned it in the lock, and she jumped back. She’d never had that happen before, she thought to herself. Ion storms had become more of a second nature thing to Earth’s inhabitants since the war had started. The weaponry used to defeat and devastate “the enemy” had changed the Earth’s atmosphere. Now that it was over and the government was a more unified one around the world they were trying things to fix it, but it was weird weather that everyone had to deal with these days. Sometimes it was a minor nuisance; other times, things...happened.
What those things were were varied, but they generally weren’t good.
She let herself in, the smell of metal still in the air. She doubted it would be a good idea to cook since the air was so charged up inside her apartment, so she went to order some take-out and then set up her laptop in the room that tasted least like metal. She knew it wasn’t the most brilliant idea to release her podcast tonight, but people had seemed eager for it and she didn’t want to disappoint them.
Her laptop, however, had other ideas.
It was slow to connect to the internet, and so she closed it and took her tech back upstairs to the attic. She hated that the attic was where the internet connection stuff was, but it couldn’t be helped. All the residents of the complex had access to it, but no one really used it for anything other than storage. She had some stuff up there, but not much. She didn’t have much in the way of “stuff,” though that was slowly changing as she made herself one of the locals, she’d noticed. She just preferred to have most of her stuff nice and close.
She had brought her laptop and cell phone up with her, just to check the connection and see if she could get a technician to help walk her through fixing the crappy connection if she needed the help. She was pretty tech-oriented so she could do a lot of it herself, but she wasn’t a Tech God who could do everything.
She sat by the window next to the internet set-up, laptop poised on her lap and phone in her grip, and had just settled in when the taste of metal got so strong she almost gagged on it. Her hair was flying out around and then...a crack of light and darkness as she shut her eyes against the light, a light so blinding bright she was sure it was a fire that was going to catch on and burn the complex down. But there was no heat, and after what seemed like forever the taste of metal and the ion storm itself seemed to disappear, and the attic was nice and cool, except there was a hum, as if there was electricity running for something that hadn’t been running before.
She opened one eye, and then another, and realized something. Something not so good. Something...life-changing.
“Guess I’m not in Kansas anymore,” she muttered to herself, looking around at the stacks of clothing and the pristine white walls of wherever she was. This? This was not good...

occupation.
*please keep in mind that while johanna is a medical assistant, her job does not equal a nurse or a doctor in her duties. medical assistants might be who you first talk to before the doctor comes in. they take temperatures/do vaccines/weigh you/take your measurements/etc. while johanna does know how to deal with emergencies and can deal with wounds and heavy bleeding, she is not an emt or a surgeon! i'm not particularly interested in threads where she is forced into these positions, but i would love for your muse to bring their child to come see her for check-ups or if your muse has some sort of medical background, they can be clinic besties! this goes for modern verse, but in her t.hg verse, her roles vary some more.
her father's blood runs through her veins. her mother's hair is on her head. her guardian's words still float through her vein. johanna barker is a broken, guilty girl. her hands are stained from the events at fogg's, but the wound runs deeper than the hole in the doctor's chest.
the media loves the idea of a serial killer murdering for the pursuit of vengeance. true crime communities eat it up. when they find out the killer left behind a daughter and who was almost a victim of him herself, they fall in love with her. johanna ran away from her father, she hid from her mother, she fled her guardian. she is not trying to be person they want her to be. she rejects the idea of passing that abuse down to her children as if it is a family heirloom. despite barely being an adult, johanna carries the guilt of generations in her. without a living murderer to pin those deaths on, the victims fall on her shoulders. she carries them around, but she will have none of her own.
she will do the opposite.
after their simple church ceremony, johanna dives into her studies. turpin expected her to go into a traditionally feminine occupation: teacher, secretary, nurse. with some medical experience already under her belt, she chooses her field of study: pediatric medical assistant. working with children gives her the ability to spot abuse, the way none of her doctors or the adults in her life did with her. this occupation gives her the ability to help people. it gives her an alright salary, which lends her to being financially independent. she doesn't have to completely rely on her guardian's funds.
the sight of blood makes her queasy when she has to insert her first iv, but over time, she becomes more and more relaxed about the position. instead of taking blood for the sake of taking blood, it's used to heal someone. when she graduates, she's proud of herself.
despite her comfort in her job, she avoids going to the doctor herself. she will heal everyone around her while destroying herself on the inside. it's easier this way. johanna is still scarred from the experiences she had at fogg's. talking about her own mental health feels dangerous. stepping on a scale feels impossible. the anxiety of taking care of herself eats away at her bones.
she thrives in her job. there are ups and down, good days and bad, but it's healing for her to be able to help children.
guilt doesn't need to be passed down as an heirloom, either.

Febuwhump day 26: "Help them."
Title: farewells of the forgotten
Words: 375
Summary: Stephen knows he's going to die. Why waste time on him when others need it more?
the titles are just words thrown on the page at this point, honestly
~~~
The Cloak fluttered helplessly, trapped beneath his body as he lay there, his body crushed by the remains of an empty office building. He couldn't feel anything past his chest, and his neck was bent awkwardly. Even a first-year pre-med student could see that his spine was broken and Stephen, if he ever got out alive, would be paralyzed from the chest down.
He couldn't even move his hands. Even the shaking had stopped, quieted by the lack of communication from the brain to the nerves in his hands. Nothing was working.
Stephen would have cried if he could, even if he had the energy to feel anything but numbness. He knew he was going to die. He couldn't bear the thought of living without his body. His hands, he learned to live with. The loss of his entire body? Stephen would rather die.
There was some yelling, some boots. A man, tall and dark, leaned over him. Stephen met his gaze. Tried to tell him to go away, to help the others. He didn't need saving. He was going to die anyways, why waste their energy on him?
The man knelt down besides Stephen and checked his pulse.
"I got one! He's alive, but fading past!" The man blurted out. Another EMT, Stephen presumed, came rushing towards the scene. Stephen shook his head.
"N-no…" He managed to croak out. He was lucky enough that his neck as broken around the C7 vertebra, leaving his vocal chords free. "Please… help them…"
The EMT frowned. "Sir, we need to get you out."
"No. Help.. them." Stephen glanced at a second pile of rubble where he knew a family had been buried. He had tried to protect them, but his building fell first. At least he managed to cast a shield over them before he collapsed. "Not me. Leave."
The EMT stared at him. "But--"
Stephen forced himself to smile weakly. "I will be fine."
Finally, the EMT nodded sharply and turned away. Stephen watched him go, and said goodbye to the Cloak. At least now, he could die in peace. He hoped Wong would give him a nice funeral.
~
When the EMTs came back, all they found was the corpse of a man destined to die.
WMC Buddies Post #1
Icebreaker
To kick off our first discussion as a group, Trinity, Bella and I all discussed what we did over the winter break! Bella told us that she spent her break spending time with her cousins, going sailing, and she finished writing her crime novel that she has been working on for five and a half years. Congrats! Trinity told us that she spent most of her break going to the gym since she likes having something to schedule and things to do. I also shared that I spent my break reading, crocheting, and spending time with my family.
What is one question you want to ask your experienced tutor?
Trinity: Is there always this much information? It was kind of a lot of information at orientation!
Kathryn: Yeah, I know there is a lot of information when you first get started but you definitely don't need to remember all of it right now! Please feel free to ask me or any of the tutors here any questions you have or clarifications on procedures whenever.
Bella: What does the normal day to day look like at the center?
Kathryn: Well the center is basically a whole community and we all chat and talk to one another when we are in the center! It's just a really friendly atmosphere!
What is one thing you are excited for this semester at the WMC?
 Kathryn: I am really excited to mentor you two for this semester and get into my development project.
What is one question you have about your FY-EMT assignment or about tutoring at the WMC?
Trinity: How often do we meet in the week?
Kathryn: Since I am your EMT mentor we will be working together and we only meet once in the week for the in-person class but I’m not entirely sure what our in person schedule looks like until we meet with Dan.
Bella: Were you an embedded tutor in your first semester?
Kathryn: Yes I was! I was Professor Spitler-Lawson asynchronous EMT for English 107.
What is one piece of advice you can give your buddy with regards to embedded tutoring or tutoring at the WMC?
Kathryn: Ask questions! I’m here to give you help as well as Dan and other tutors around the center so please ask questions!
What is one way you can support each other this semester?
Kathryn: I know I’ve said it a million times but please ask questions! All of us tutors have gone through UNIV and started off where you guys are right now so we are here for you. I’m also here to help you with all your EMT stuff as well.
