Oracle!Reader Part 23
Masterlist - Part 1, Part 22, Part 24
Warning! This is a SAGAU imposter au so this is pretty gory and not happy all the time. Plus yandere but that's the expected for SAGAU.
Xingqiu and Chongyun both showed muddled emotions at your words of leaving Liyue.
“That may be best for you…” Chongyun says first as he keeps his gaze on the floorboards.
“Yes, I agree. Although I never expected that you would have to leave Liyue so soon, it's clear that you aren't safe here.”
Xingqiu’s words that were full of understanding still had disappointment sprinkled in.
“We can't do much to help you when it comes to Ningguang, but Mondstadt is a different story. Do you have the talisman on you right now?”
Chongyun takes a few steps closer as you lift the amulet for him to see. He rubs one finger on it, examining the symbol that appears at the action.
“It's still at full charge, good. The road to Mondstadt can either be empty or full of demons depending on the day. But once you get to Wangshu Inn, it becomes much safer.”
“Because of Xiao, right? Despite how the situation looked when I first met the Adepti, I'm on relatively good terms with them now.”
It was a bit risky telling them this, but they both deserved to know at this point.
“When are you planning on leaving? Is your meeting with Ningguang today?” Switching the topic, Xingqiu brings the focus back to the most pressing issue.
Nodding, you answer. “My meeting is with her today, but I'll probably have to leave either at midnight or early tomorrow morning. The sooner, the better.”
“Then I can offer you some help that should make staying in Mondstadt a bit easier.” Xingqiu grins as he takes out paper and some ink. “I happen to know someone-”
“Albedo, right?” Cutting off Xingqiu as you think back to his connection, you continue. “Together you made the book, uh what was the name again? A Legend of a Sword? It got pretty popular in Inazuma. I remember there was a whole festival on light novels that you both attended too.”
Once you stop, you notice Xingqiu squinting his eyes at you before replying. “That's really creepy, you know? If I didn't know you were the Oracle, then I would have believed you to be some stalker.”
“If I was, then I wouldn't be stalking you of all people.” You snapped back as he grins while shaking his head.
“But yes, I'll send Albedo a letter in advance so that he can arrange for you to be settled nicely over there. I won't mention the Oracle situation as the Creator didn't want you to be known widely like that.”
It's been so long since you last heard the title ‘Creator’ be mentioned despite the fact that all of your problems come from their supposed existence.
Only goes to show just how ingrained the Creator is in this world.
“Thanks Xingqiu. Albedo is the chief alchemist and well respected among the community, so I should be in safe hands.”
Xingqiu merely hums in response as Chongyun tugs the amulet closer to him.
“Just trying to apply a better talisman on it.” He mumbles in accordance with your stare as he settles himself closer to you.
He's basically pressed against your side, but you strangely don't feel uncomfortable to have him close.
As the pair focus on their own activities, your mind wanders off to Albedo.
Albedo, the chief alchemist and homunculus created by Gold, the famous Khaenri'an scientist. Khaenri'ah, which also held so much information that could be connected to Celestia…
It was a long shot, but you could try digging for information about Celestia from him. The deal that Celestia made with Teyvat still bothers you to no end. With the age of this deal unknown, you might even have to look into the primordial dragons if it's even older than the Archon war.
A light shining brought you back to the present and your eyes flickered down to where the amulet shined in Chongyun’s hands.
Once it died down to reveal a more intricate symbol than before, Chongyun nodded, satisfied with the final product.
“This one is a lot stronger and should last longer now. I know you can fight well, but the demonic energy in Bishui Plain and Qiongji Estuary has shown to rise around this time of the year.”
Carefully taking the amulet from him, you thumbed the symbol with curious eyes. “I get it, thank you. Does it activate on its own, or do I have to activate it with something?”
“It'll work on its own. Depending on the amount and degree of demonic energy around it, the workings will change.”
Motioning with his hands, Chongyun’s calm voice explains the working to you. At the end of the rather lengthy explanation, you nod and condense the information in your mind.
“And now that Instructor Chongyun is done teaching you, I'm happy to say that I'm done with the letter. Have been for a while, but I saw no need to interrupt the oh so fascinating lecture.”
Raising the letter, Xingqiu lazily waved it as Chongyun bristled but ultimately said nothing.
“I can send this once I get home. Unfortunately, neither me nor Chongyun will be available to accompany you through your journey.”
Xingqiu tsk’d at his own words while Chongyun turned his head away, visibly sulking.
“My family was just hired to check out Wuwang Hill and my attendance for this is mandatory. Xingqiu’s father is forcing him to stay and attend meetings with his brother for the week as well.”
All you could do was smile sadly in response.
Before long they were both forced to leave by Baizhu who insisted on total privacy for the reviewing of your medication and discharge.
Watching them climb down the stairs from the window in your room, you listen absentmindedly to Baizhu.
Changsheng still refused to see you. Something Tevyat was clearly displeased with, as the once sunny weather quickly turned cloudy. The cold-blooded creature must be huffing in annoyance by now.
“And this is the overview of medication and supplements to take, with the doses and dates to take them.”
Casually looking over the paper received from the shady snake bastard, you hummed for a moment before stuffing it into your bag.
“All of it is paid for by your special benefactor. And the drug you requested has already been paid with by your body, as we both know.”
‘Must he phrase it like that?’ You internally questioned as you snatch the medication and shove it into your bag.
“I'm glad for it. Maybe even more so if she didn't pin so many babysitters onto me.”
At your grumble, Baizhu’s smile wavered at the edges. Either he truly hadn't known why there was extra ‘security’ or he was a great liar. You suspect it's a bit of both.
“Then if everything has been covered, I’m happy to say that you're officially discharged as of-” He merely glanced at the sun still high in the sky before finishing. “1300. I sincerely hope that the next time we meet you'll be in a better physical state.”
“And I sincerely wish we never have to meet again.” The words you utter are full of sarcasm, something Baizhu simply chuckles at.
“Now what could I have possibly done to deserve your ire, dear Oracle?”
“It's what you haven't done. A little heads up about all the guards would have been nice.”
“Oh, but I did!” His smile seems a little sharper as he leans toward you, his glasses sliding down to the bridge of his nose. “Didn't I let you know early on that there were quite a lot of guards?”
With an annoyed scoff, you snap back. “You said it was due to the two temples nearby, not cause Ningguang wanted to keep an eye on me.”
Raising his hands with wide eyes, Baizhu tried to placate you. “I'm not part of the Millelith, how on earth could a physician like me know the true reasoning?”
Holding his gaze, you tried to discern what he was truly thinking at this moment. Malice? Amusement? Mocking kindness?
But at that moment, all you could see was genuine surprise in his eyes. It only served to confuse you further.
Was Baizhu truly innocent in this? Your instincts in situations like these were usually correct. Besides, what would Baizhu even gain from deceiving you?
Still, that didn't explain why Baizhu was always so damn shady, but maybe you should chalk it up to an unfortunate side effect of being contracted with a snake.
“Well, then let me reiterate my earlier words. While I still hope we won't have to meet again. I do wish for us to want to meet again.”
Baizhu lowers his arms while fixing his glasses to laugh, the sound is surprisingly tender. “And how do you expect me to tell when that would be? I’m no mind reader.”
Standing up, you stay silent as you slip your bag over your shoulders and move past him. The door opens with a creak as you tilt your head slightly to meet his eyes.
“To put it simply, I’ll want to see you when you discover whatever is hidden in my culture sample.”
The door clicks shut as you leave Bubu’s Pharmacy for good.
----------------------------
After a brief but firm pat to Qiqi’s head, you walk down the stairs casually. The slight rustling of the leaves, the fabric of curtains drawn, and the quieting of chatter are all brought to your attention.
Ningguang’s spies and the Millelith guards are all watching you like rabid dogs, waiting for you to slip up and give them an excuse to arrest you right now.
Smiling without hesitation, you get to the last step and pretend that the forced conversations around you aren't scripted, and that the eyes locked on you are of a curious bystander and not the ones of detectives.
Bringing your attention back to the list you have clenched in your hand, you read the first errand on the list.
Return books to library.
Easy enough, and it's even easier when people seem to automatically avoid being in your path.
Is this what a day in Xinyan's life feels like? It's honestly not that bad.
At least you thought so until you got to the counter and waited for the receptionist to return.
Five minutes pass. Then ten minutes, which quickly turn into fifteen in a blink of an eye. You can feel your mood worsening.
Deciding to test something, you walk away from the library and turn the corner. Peeking around the corner, you watch as the ‘customer’ that was standing in the corner all those minutes gets to the counter. Almost immediately, a swarm of people return to it.
Sighing heavily, you ignore the weight of suspicious stares and turn the corner back into the library. Getting back into line feels humiliating, but it's just a quick errand, you tell yourself.
No one moves out of the way, but the quick glances they send you make them pale with each minute.
Not a soul dares to stand behind you.
It's finally your turn, and you place your books on the table with the last bit of patience you had. She doesn't meet your eyes and mumbles something.
“I'm sorry, what did you say?” Leaning closer, you try to catch her words, only for her to yell.
“It's lunchtime now so I can't accept any more returns or purchases. H-Have a good-d da-ay!”
Flabbergasted at the sheer audacity, you watch her flip a sign on the table and flee the area.
“Fuck this shit.” Colorful curses leave you as you drop all the books haphazardly on the table and storm away.
Crossing it off the list, you follow the main path to the next errand.
Collect reward from Guild
That commission should have given you one hell of a paycheck the last time you checked. Primogems may be worthless now, but you could use the Mora the commission provides.
Plus, you needed to let them know to change it to the Mondstadt region.
Lost in thought of all the technicalities and paperwork you would have to fill out, you weren't focusing on the fleeting whispers around you.
“Is that them?”
“Who else could it be?”
“What a monster…”
“-as long as we get paid.”
“Who cares about-”
“It's me or them.”
“As long as it's them and not me.”
Your experience at the guild was a much kinder one. Katheryne was the epitome of professionalism, just as you remembered her to be. Not that you expected much else from a robot.
After handing all the written work to her, you finally noticed the absence of a certain person.
“Where’s that grouchy Lan? She's usually here, isn't she?” Checking the vicinity, you try to spot the brown recognizable bob.
“The Branch Master Lan is currently undertaking a commission at this time.”
“About the unseen razor, right?”
“That can not be disclosed to unauthorized-”
“It's fine. I’ll see you later, Katheryne.” Turning around, you leave without another thought. Lan wasn't anywhere near the ‘threatening’ list you've created since you last saw her.
Pick up plushie
Crossing out the previous task, you look at the present one with mixed emotions. On one hand, you were happy to get a chance to see something related to Earth, to your world. But at the same time, you couldn't help but wonder if it would serve more as a distraction than anything else. The memories it brought up never failed to leave your heart troubled…
Remembering the money you spent commissioning it ultimately tipped the scales, and so you dragged your feet to the little old lady’s toy shop.
It was empty just as the first time you were there as she hummed. If she was a vision holder you'd guess Hydro judging by the tranquility she radiated.
Her eyes meet yours and a happy smile slips onto your face without much thought.
“Here to pick up the toy, dearie?”
“Yup.” Popping the ‘p’, you watched as she gathered a delicately wrapped box from under the other boxes and presented it to you.
“Enjoy the nostalgic memories a toy can bring.”
You politely thank her before taking the present and walking away. The weight of the box is heavy with dread, and you can only find solace in the fact she didn't refer to it as ‘happy’ memories.
Once sufficiently out of sight, you take to grasping the lid. But you couldn't bring yourself to remove it.
Too many memories. All of them are rushing in and filled with conflicting feelings that would surely crush you. The fear and selfishness of the broken promises and unfulfilled desires would throw you off your game.
With a little too much enthusiasm, you stuff the box of the cat plushie into your bag.
Most likely to stay forgotten and distant from the present you're facing.
Scratching it off harder than the rest, you get to the last errand.
Refill supplies
A smart and mature move considering how you used the whole Medkit during the chase. The soggy bandages and washed away ointment really hurt your heart and wallet.
Revisiting the same shops you went to the first time proved to be ineffective. Either they were completely sold out or no longer supplying them.
Forced to visit more stores, you had to walk around the city a lot more than you cared to. Each store had one of the two situations, and the skittish actions of everyone around you were just the cherry on top.
At one point you even tried to buy the individual items separately, and even that failed.
It's not like you could just wait till next week for the first shipment. You weren't even sure you would live till then.
Eventually, you found yourself sulking on the lower docks, turning the situation around in your head.
If only you lived in Liyue for a little longer, maybe you could have found some of the hidden shops. Befriend a store owner and get a hidden one.
Just who the hell would even go out of their way to get every medical first aid part when it's such a crucial item for so many people in this era?
A name finally comes to mind and your expression sours at the thought. Not that you’d let it show, Celestia knows how many guards are watching you at this moment-
A sudden, rapid series of taps on your shoulder has you spinning around in surprise.
A young boy stands before you. The clothes he wears has visible wear and tear as the fabric frays from the edges. Yet you can't help but think you might have seen him before.
Placing a finger on his lips, he uses his other hand to grab hold of your elbow and tug you along.
Surprised but not suspicious of the kid, you let him lead you deeper into the docks. The dark red of his eyes seem to glow within the shadows as his dirty blond hair acts as your beacon of light.
The smell of fresh fish turns rotten, and the dirt caked under his fingernails stains your clothes. The complete and straight planks become jagged and creaky as you follow him farther.
But you stayed silent.
You recognized a path to the seedy part of the city when you see it.
Instead, you examine the younger boy with a critical eye and finally connect the dots. He must be one of the kids you saved with Yiran.
A smirk creeps up your face. It seems you managed to use your time wisely in making connections after all.
Following along the twists and turns, you don't worry too much about the Millelith. Most of the guards probably couldn't even get this far. If you had to guess, it would only be the detectives who could keep up.
It's not like the hidden underworld of cities as popular as Liyue Harbor are any big secret to them.
Stalls and various shops fill the area as flickering lanterns and other extra lighting give you a wider view.
Multiple people call out to the boy as he silently waves to them. The gaze of the homeless and shady people around aren't warm, but aren't hostile either.
Not that you were exactly expecting a warm welcome, but at least you didn't have to worry about sudden personality changes.
Money could buy you information, but it wouldn't buy you trust in these parts.
He finally stops at a little nook in the corner of the area. The door is worn down with scratches and marks yet the light you can see under it is warm.
Silent as before, he points at you, then to the rows of shops in a sweeping motion before stopping at the door.
Pinching your brows in slight confusion, you chew on the gestures to understand it. High-pitched laughter that suspiciously sounds like children eases into your ears as the boy squirms in place.
“Did you want me to knock on the door when I'm done shopping? That you'll lead me back to the surface?”
It was the only thing that you can think of. And despite your hesitation, the boy nods, clearly relieved that you understood the message.
He must truly be mute, no doubt from whatever horrors he must have faced that lead to the scars poorly hidden by mud on his arms.
You were thankful either way. Just leading you here was great but getting an exit too was even better. Now you could avoid getting mugged and/or murdered on your way back.
“Thanks man, I'll be quick.” With that, you walk away, already following the invisible path to the shops that caught your eye.
As much as you would have liked to explore the various items and weapons they had, you didn't want to keep the kid waiting.
After having to buy a rather expensive medical kit, a minor downside to finding the first medical anything since you left Bubu’s pharmacy, you pick up a minor stitching case.
You could have really used one during your latest and probably not last chase. Stuffing it into your bag, as people eye the magical item with desire, you quickly find the home.
Getting to the door, you step closer than before and take note of the older voice. A woman that's chuckling, and a lingering sense of guilt invades your mind.
Quickly rapping your knuckles on the wood, you step away as the home goes dead quiet.
Multiple little eyes peer at you from windows below you as you lazily grin and wave. They all scatter as giggling resumes and the sound of playing returns.
But not the woman’s voice. You didn't expect it to. It's hard to face the only person you've poured your raw wounds from a child's death to.
The kid finally steps out with multiple clicks of locks echoing around the small space. Smiling, you take no offense to the action. You weren't here for trust, and they weren't helping you out of it either.
His crimson eyes glisten with interest at your bag. He wants his pay, and you're more than happy to oblige.
Stuffing your hand into the bag, you feel the familiar clink of Mora gathering in your hand. Pulling it out, you place an appropriate amount into the pouch he already has prepared.
When you drop it all, he takes it closer to him and picks up a piece. The first thing he does is try to bite it, and the familiar memory of you testing coins the same way makes you smile sadly.
Counting the Mora, he frowns, clearly displeased with the amount. He holds his hand out, and you can feel the other children’s stares digging into you.
“I'm going to give you two things that aren't Mora, okay? But you have to keep it a secret.”
He narrows his eyes, no doubt suspecting you of being a shady person. That's probably why he brought you here first and demanded payment before returning you.
Like this, he has back up and cornered you further into payment of his choosing.
“Do you have a cooking pot?”
He frowns in confusion before nodding slowly. Lifting one finger in a pause motion, before heading back inside his home.
He returns while holding a clean cooking pot. It doesn’t take long before he places it over the open fire you already started.
Small eyes follow your every step as you dig out ingredients from your bag. Mentally going over the ingredients you had originally prepared for your celebration feast if you survived tonight, you drop them into the pot.
4 ham, 3 crabs, 3 shrimp meat, and 3 matsutake potatoes are dropped in.
Turning around, you count to five as the boy gives you a confused stare. But you only wink at him before turning around to look at the pot, as his eyes widen at the sight.
Adeptus’ Temptation sits innocently in the pot as the rich aroma wafts around the area, drawing curious hungry eyes.
Leaning down, you whisper to the boy.
“Get your friends and bring the pot back into your house quickly. This food is blessed and safe as you watched the whole process. I suggest you let the sickly and injured children eat first.”
He looks between you and the pot with conflicting emotions. On one hand, he can't trust you too much, but even the smell of the food was clearly tempting him.
It's the shuffling of feet getting closer that makes him bang on the door, signalling for the other children to come out and help him bring it inside.
By the time the shabby adults come into view, it's just you and the boy ‘talking’ as they grumble and turn around.
The kid still looks displeased. You don't blame him completely, since how can he trust that the food you cook isn't spiked with anything nefarious.
You're not even sure if it can heal people that aren't acolytes. It doesn't work on you after all.
At least they'll all enjoy a hot meal, even if it doesn't work.
Sighing, you take out your last resort from your bag, sadly selecting it and pulling it out. The secret weapon you've been saving since your time in Inazuma.
The colorful assortment of candy wrappers makes the kid’s eyes sparkle with the childlike glee that was absent since you met him. Probably long before you met him.
“It's not just Liyue candy, some are even from Inazuma.” The thought of giving up your hard-earned candy hurt you, but you let it go.
The candy you squirreled away during the Inazuma festival, and the discount ones you bought at cheap prices at Liyue’s markets, were both never going to be eaten anyway.
His hands reach out to snatch the candy greedily from you but you raise it out of reach at the last second. He stomps his foot in childish indignation as you chuckle.
“Sorry, but I need you to bring me back to the outside before you scam me out of any more goodies.”
Finally giving up, he grabs your elbow again and leads you back through the streets. You enjoy the sights as he leads you zigzagging through the stalls.
You can't help but wonder if any detectives are still watching your boring little interactions. Admittedly, you played into the kid's desires more then you had to.
But you couldn't stop yourself from doing so when all you could see in him was yourself when you were that height.
The sun comes into light as the dim lanterns fade away. Like this, you can see his features once more as the stomping of soldiers return.
His eyes scan the area at the sound, but he keeps his hands open for the sweet treats. Smiling, you drop the candy into his open palms before he rushes off with a beaming boyish grin.
Stretching as you walk up the planks to the surface, you finally cross off the last item and drop it into the nearby trash can.
You try to ignore how it disappears when you turn the corner.
------------------------------------
Time ticks down slowly, and you aren't looking forward to seeing Madam Ping just yet. Besides, you made a long-overdue promise to someone else beforehand.
Starting up at the somewhat hidden Funeral Parlor, you push the door open with a casual; “Hey, I'm here to meet up with the Director of this fine and totally not macabre establishment.”
The receptionist blinks at your sudden words before a cheery voice responds from behind her.
“You sure took your time, Y/N. I almost wondered if you up and died before I got a chance to have you purchase one of our very convenient and practical deals!”
Yet again, Hu Tao was right on the money about you being close to death. Idly, you wonder if you look half as dead as you feel.
The receptionist is more than happy to slip away as her boss bounds up to you with that elemental ghost hovering around her.
Flower pupils stare into your eyes, giving you a vague sense of unease as Hu Tao examines you from various angles.
“Yup, yup! Just as I suspected. You are in desperate need of escape, and it seems the only way you'll be getting it is in death. My honest suggestion is that you buy a coffin from us and lead a hedonist lifestyle to enjoy the few years you have left.”
“Thanks for the vote of confidence.” You dryly respond as she nods approvingly.
“A business needs to be honest for it to succeed in the long-term. Trust of the customers is one of the biggest key factors.”
Not willing to argue on a topic you were admittedly clueless on, you follow her deeper into the Parlor.
“Then you got any good deals for a traveling adventurer like me who could be dead halfway across the world?”
She sighs, exaggerating it to the utmost while circling you. “I thought deeply on the topic and while the Wangshsng Funeral Parlor has grown enough to reach all of Liyue and a good amount of Mondstadt and Sumeru, we still haven't grown enough to pair up with each region.”
Passing by multiple doors, your eyes scan for a clue on where she was leading you.
“But considering you're the most eager customer I've had concerning their own death, I decided to present you with a special deal.”
“Wouldn't suicidal people also be enthusiastic in this topic?”
“They're usually more focused on the moment and their own afterlife, instead of the corpse they leave behind. Besides-!”
Whipping around to look at you with a knowing grin, she lays a hand decorated in rings on the handle.
“You aren't that far from being called a suicidal person yourself, Y/N!”
Before you can question her on those words, she swings the door open to show multiple rows of various coffins.
“The special offer I'm giving you is to purchase a coffin and I will personally escort your wandering soul to the border for proper peace.”
Tearing your eyes from the admittedly impressive collection of varying caskets, you have the sense to ask her a question. “So, what's the point in me buying a coffin if my body ends up in the waters of Fontaine? And how could I even trust that you have the ability to escort souls?”
From what you remember, Hu Tao should have no clue about your oracle status, so logically you should act oblivious to her connection with the border. Would you even be able to cross the border? It’s not like you were born on Teyvat like her other customers.
Unless Zhongli told her, but that would require more of an explanation on his behalf that he wouldn't want to do.
“Very good question, dear customer!” She spins around to face you once more, her long twin tails swinging during the motion.
“Even if your body is irretrievable for whatever reason, the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor will deem your casket full after I guide your soul.”
The atmosphere visibly shifts after she speaks. The room darkens as the lanterns flicker, her back lowers in a familiar position as a cold phantom touch caresses your hand.
“You of all people should know why and how I'm able to guide souls. After all, I wouldn't expect anything less from an Oracle of the Creator.”
A crooked grin makes its way to your face as goosebumps raise on your skin. Hu Tao’s ‘threatening’ words of knowing your identity were like the sweetest song to your ears.
Finally, all your hard work in creating connections and stabilizing your identity has paid off. Acolytes you've barely begun conversing with already see you as an Oracle.
“Should I applaud you or something, Director? Or should I just accept the deal and make us both happy?”
Hu Tao laughs at your words as you take confident strides to stand by her side.
“I would appreciate the second option much more!” Signature flower pupils drink your smiling visage in with delight before her hand grasps yours in a tight hold.
“Now, if you will, I'll introduce all these amazing coffin and casket types for you to ask about and choose between.”
There's no time to protest, not that you would as she pulls you along excitedly as butterflies made of Pyro brush against your cheek.
------------------------------
Somehow you and Hu Tao had managed to look at every single coffin type in existence. A style, color and even additional design to it has already been decided.
You're just left with choosing the best wood for it.
Hu Tao wanted to stay with you throughout the whole process, but an important matter came up again, making her complain loudly as she left.
But before she did, she insisted on sending one of her employees to help you in choosing, as ‘the wood is a vital part of the process!’.
So now you're left waiting in the absolutely quiet room, with only the sound of your own breathing accompanying you.
Looking down at the two coffins made of different wood, you waited for this employee. A small smirk played on your lips as you heard the door audibly click shut.
The thumping of shoes coming closer was silent, but the slight hitch of breath gave away how close your new consultant was.
“White cedar wood and Teck wood are both very fine choices. Though I would consider the Catalpa wood two rows down to be the best choices considering your position.”
Hot air fans your skin as the knowledgeable words spoken in that low timber light your nerves aflame.
Turning around, you look into amber eyes that remain steadfast on your face. His outfit is pristine and there's not a single evidence of the battle he was left to fight on him.
“If that answers your last question for the coffin customization, then would you mind stepping outside with me?”
Waving your hand, you dismiss his words without hesitation. “We can do so after I check out the Catalpa wood you recommended.”
Your head angles to the side to look at him with a teasing grin. “I know it's your retirement, but you of all people should know that rushing a job is never good.”
A long-suffering sigh leaves Zhongli as you walk away to the Catalpa coffin, before he follows you.
More than happy to kill time like this, you feel the wood under your fingertips in a smooth stripe.
“Catalpa wood was and is still often used as an outer coffin for the jade inner coffin that Liyue officials were buried in. Not only can it be carved fluidly, but it is also very resistant to decay, unlike other ornamental wood. Its stability is quite underrated, with only the drying to be a tad problematic. And even that will be for us to deal with.”
Vaguely you wonder if this information was inserted into the game based off China’s own history or if Teyvat really did age throughout many years to build its own history.
“That’s why I recommended this type of wood to you. While you’re not officially a member of the Qixing or other affairs, your position of oracle is enough to warrant such a valued coffin.”
“Are you trying to convince me to buy it for your job, or are you trying to flatter me for your proposal?”
“You may see it as both, neither, or one of the two. I'm simply here as the consultant. I am to assist you with all of your decision-making inside this building.”
A huff of laughter leaves you before you tap on the casket. “Then I'll go along with what you want and take this wood.”
Zhongli nods, not bothering to write it down as his memory must be far greater than you care to imagine.
His gloved hand is displayed to you in a silent question, but before you can move, he removes the glove.
Quizzically, you raise an eyebrow before placing your hand on his now bare one. Peering at his face from your place you note the slightest blush on his otherwise composed expression.
Smiling to yourself, you allow his fingers to intertwine with your own as he guides you out of the side door. Following him blindly up the staircase, past a set of rooms, another staircase till you finally arrive at the roof.
Zhongli squeezes your hand one last time, clearly relishing in the touch of your calloused fingertips before letting you go.
“I've waited patiently for you, Y/N. What is your answer to my marriage proposal?”
His eyes stare at yours with unshakable firmness. In a sense, it's endearing, and you make it clear by smiling widely.
“It's a no from me.” That resolute expression cracks and his mouth drops open before it's slammed shut at your bright laughter.
But even his poorly concealed embarrassed expression can't smother the blood rushing to his cheeks as his ears hang onto every addictive note that leaves your lips.
This has taken a long time. Like super long. I haven't dropped this series, just have lots of school work to complete and exams to study for. Like I literally have one tomorrow. My editor did me a solid and highlighted the parts that I had to fill in after I gave the mostly completed document for editing. When I have to write the next chapter, it'll take a bit as I gotta reread for recalibration. Taglist is open as always!

Hi I was hoping if maybe you could do Velvette and Carmilla (poly or separate whichever you want to do) with a fem s/o that had a very abusive ex while she was alive like both physical and verbal abuse. She also has a hard time going out because she is terrified that she might run into them again. No pressure though hope you have a good day!😁
A/N: I'm so sorry i didn't write over the weekend, I got so busy it was ridiculous. Should be back to our regularly scheduled broadcast tomorrow! I'll be honest, this ask resonated with me, I immediately knew that I was gonna enjoy writing this one and you'll see why. Like i did last time, I'll be putting one drabble on one post and the other on a separate one with the ask included!
Character: Velvette
Type: Fic (Velvette x fem!reader who had an abusive ex, Angst, Fluff)
She was going to destroy them. And whatever was left of them when she was done, no one would dare touch, else they also wanted their lives burnt to ash.
Velvette was furious, livid. Needless to say, the influencer was on a war path.
Truly, she was glad that you weren’t here to see her like this. You didn’t need another reminder of that stain of a soul, though she wasn’t just going to lie or keep you in the dark. You knew where she was and what she was planning. You had been in tears when she told you in soft whispers that it was going to be okay, that she was going to ‘take care of it’. She was surprised that she had been able to keep her cool until she had left the flat.
Honestly, the influencer knew that she wasn’t supposed to know about the bastard yet. You had wanted to tell her on your own time and she respected that. But that didn’t mean that she hadn’t already suspected. When you would get nervous out in public, looking out into crowds like you were expecting to see a ghost. The flinching early in your relationship anytime she’d so much as graze your arm.
It figured that they were in hell too. It made sense, all things considered. Plus they were probably slippery enough to stay out of the path of any angels during exterminations
It had been such a peaceful day too. The both of your schedules had aligned, Velvette was between projects and you hadn’t had any real plans until later in the night, which said plans were with the overlord anyways.
It had been so long since the two of you had enjoyed a lazy morning together. Velvette was more than content simply enjoying each other’s company on the couch. You had been entangled with your lover, your arms loosely wrapped around her waist while you rest your chin on her shoulder, watching her scroll through her current feed.
She remembered so clearly how tense you became when she came across the picture. Some club goer that she would have completely ignored other wise, had it not been for the fact that you had started trembling. And then you flinched when the overlord had reached out to cup your cheek. She was quick to assure you that you had nothing to apologize for when you offered a dejected ‘sorry’.
And that was how Velvette found out about your only other serious relationship and the story of your death. Through needless apologies and countless tears.
Now, the influencer found herself storming through the halls of Vee Tower with one destination in mind. Vox’s office.
“Vox I need your help.” These were the first words out of her mouth when she burst in through the doors to the video star’s office
“Velvette, I thought you were taking today off?” The video star startled, quickly closing his current video feed. He seemed more than he would have usually. Whether it was because he hadn’t expected to see her or because of how angry she looked, the influencer didn’t know. And frankly, she didn’t give a shit, either. He could keep watching the radio demon like a creep later.
The video star leaned back in his seat when Velvette didn’t offer an answer. So instead he gesturing for the younger overlord to sit. She did not. Lacing his fingers together, Vox took in the sight that was Velvette. She was angry, that much was obvious, but why? She didn’t have any current projects that he could think of, so what in the literal hell could have her so vexed?
“What’s got you on a war path today my dear?” Though his smile didn’t meet his eyes. No, he knew something was very wrong.
“I need a favor.” This seemed to get his attention. In reality, Velvette rarely asked for favours, instead preferring to get shit done herself. Even rarer still, she was here, asking him in person instead of calling or texting him.
Vox turned to her fully now, a serious expression settling upon his screen. “Of course, what do you need?”
“Your reach is farther than mine,” She admitted, her voice soft, betraying the unbridled rage that dwelled beneath the surface. Reaching into her bag she pulled out a photo of demon who had summoned her ire, sliding a photo across his desk to show him. An eyebrow raise, the older sinner took the photo in his hand.
Mostly uninterested, Vox really wasn’t sure what he was looking at. The picture was ordinary, some demon taking a selfie at a club. Looked like some regular old schmuck to him. Returning his gaze back to his youngest cohort, he found her glaring at the offending photo so hard that he was surprised it didn’t burst into flames right there in his hand. Just to be safe, he put the photo back down on his desk.
“And what exactly did this poor bastard do to piss you off this bad?”
“That’s the fucker who used to beat on my girl.” Velvette all but hissed out, glarring down at the picture. Then, she spoke again, softer, her voice nearly trembling as a more grave expression took to her face. “They killed her, too.”
Vox froze, his screen flickering as his own temper spiked at the revelation. You were good for Velvette. He actually liked you, which was more than he could say about any other demon that the influencer had brought around the tower. Val liked you just as much. He was going to be pissed if he was left out of the fun, the video star noted as he shot the moth demon a quick text to get his ass to his office. Vox’s lips split into a vicious grin, his voice low, practically a growl as he forced out a: “Well, lets get to work then, shall we?”

months pass. but you never really dared to keep count of how many months did pass. (you still did, and it was 10 months). so, it’s been 10 months after rin left to go to paris. … 10 months after that last conversation between you and him passed. “i love you, but i can’t commit.” sometimes you just doubt his words. if he did love you. or were you just something he was using to make the time pass by? you heard from your friends that he was here in japan again. temporarily.
your friends also told you that, in a recent interview, he mentioned he’d only come back to japan for something special to him. … shouldn’t you not care anymore? isn’t that irrelevant to you? wasn’t your relation unhealthy for the both of you? but you also still can’t seem to get over him. every single path or road you take, was always going back to his house. they all lead back to him, huh?... bothered by the door bell, you get up from your couch to open the front door— — and there you see, rin itoshi. standing on your porch. he’s panting and sweating. did he run going here? or are you just being delusional right now? “do you know how much i miss you?” “rin, what?” “i’m sorry i left— okay? i was an asshole for that.” "i came here to pick up something really fucking special, that i lost 10 months ago." "yes, i kept count of how many months has it been and i'm really pathetic right now but i—" “— i miss you like it was the very first night.” “no one knows how much i miss you.” “… i still love you.” "you’re leaving soon. rin— you can’t just barge in my life again, plus we’re two different people with two different lives, so we'd have different schedules—” “— are you over me?” “because i know i’m not over you.” “but if you did move on, then you would’ve shut the door already.” “if you were, then you wouldn’t be standing here, right?” “i won’t leave the country if you give me another chance.” “i won’t go too fast, so you can keep up with me.” “we can walk beside each other, instead of you always being in the back.” “so please, let me now make you one of the highlights of my life.” “let me be the man who spends all his tomorrows with you, and you only.” "s'il te plaît mon seul amour." you stay quiet, starting to tear up. by reflex, he wraps his arms around you. “then take me away, to you.” “gladly.” — fin.

The Cat and Dog Game [Chapter 38]
Tumblr media
Genre: Romance, Fluff, Comedy
Pairing: Yunho x Reader (y/n)
Characters: Chef!Reader, RestaurantOwner!Yunho, MaitreD!Hongjoong, Waiter!Yeosang, Waiter!San, Waiter!Mingi, SousChef!Seonghwa, SousChef!Wooyoung, PrepChef!Jongho
Summary: Yunho's dream was to open and run his own restaurant. But he doesn't know anything when it comes to cooking. Until you came along and accepted the job, bringing with you a small crew. How will the black cat tame the energetic golden retriever?
Word count: 3.3K
"We should take it to the vet tomorrow." You said as you and Yunho hovered over the kitten. You placed some wet cat food onto a paper plate and he was so quick to eat it up. Yes, you also learnt that the kitten is a boy.
"We should but the only free time we have is between morning and dinner service. Plus it's Friday so we're going to be busy." Yunho said.
"I'll do it after the morning shift then." You smiled.
"And by 'I', you mean 'we'." Yunho laughed and pressed his forehead against your temple. Instead of hovering, he sat on the floor and pulling you to sit on his lap.
"There, we can watch him like this." He said, resting his chin on your shoulder with his arms around your waist.
"It's late, you still have to drive back." You stood up. Yunho nodded in agreement.
"You can handle the little one?" Yunho chuckled. You hummed, smiling softly as you looked over at the kitten that was rolling all over your rug, happy to have a full belly of food.
Although Yunho wanted to ask to stay the night or thought that you would offer him that option, he didn't want to overstep so he willing got his coat to leave. Maybe you just wanted the house and your bed to yourself since you had all 8 of them over last night. He understood that you needed to recharge.
"Goodbye. I'll see you again tomorrow." Yunho said, gently stroking the kitten's head with the back of his finger.
"Thanks again for tonight." You said, looking up at him as he got ready to leave.
"No need to thank me. Have a good night, I'll see you tomorrow?" He tilted his head. You nodded and tip toed to give him a goodbye kiss before he headed out the door.
"Alright, let's set you up for the night." You said to the kitten. You cleared the used plates and brought the animal crate to your room.
"Here." You placed some blankets inside, making sure it was warm and comfortable before placing the kitten inside.
"There, all comfy for you." You chuckled. You didn't buy a cat bed because you didn't know if the kitten will be permenantly staying with you so you just grabbed a crate to ferry him around.
After making sure the kitten was settled, you went to remove all your makeup and take a shower. However, mid shower, you didn't expect a little black shadow to push open the bathroom door and enter. He let out a loud meow to establish his presence.
"Geez! You scared me!" You jumped slightly, placing a hand over your racing heart. But he just sat there, staring back at you with a tilt of his head.
"Don't be clingy like a golden retriever." You said, snickering. Once you stepped out, you changed into comfy home clothes.
"Hey, Hwa... I'm home." You said to Seonghwa with the phone on speaker as you did you skincare.
"Hey, sweetheart. I was about to call you. You don't have to come in for morning shift, you know? You can go home and rest after your morning session. We understand."
"I know but you guys can't keep giving me all these exceptions, it's not fair and unprofessional of me." You sighed.
"It's not exceptions. We're friends, practically family. We do it for anyone that needs it."
"I know that... And I'm really grateful for the 3 of you being so supportive. But it's fine, really. I'll be okay. Working would serve as a good distraction rather than just laying in bed." You said, finishing up your nightly routine of skincare. You took the phone with you as you did your laundry.
"But-"
*meow*
"D-Did you just meow at me?"
"What?! No, that's not me. I have a... house guest." You turned the call to a video call, turning the camera to show Seonghwa the kitten that was now curled by your feet.
"I thought you were only having dinner with Yunho's family! When did you get a cat?!"
"It's a long story. He's just staying with me until I can get him to a vet tomorrow and decide what to do with him." You informed.
"It's actually really funny, (y/n). You compare Yunho to a golden retriever every chance you get and now, it's like I'm seeing two of you. Can barely tell the difference."
"Very funny, Hwa. You'll be glad to know that Yunho's been making fun of me the whole night, comparing me to the kitten. That's utter nonsense, I am not a black cat or like one." You scoffed, stroking the kitten as it sat on your thigh.
"Sure~ Like how Yunho denies that he's an overly excited golden retriever puppy."
"You know what, see you tomorrow, Hwa." You scoffed and hung up while he was busy laughing at you. You picked the kitten up and placed him in his crate.
"Stay here. I'll see you in the morning. Goodnight." You stroked its head and went to bed.
-
When Yunho arrived at the restaurant the next morning, he looked at his phone. He had sent you a morning text and asked about the kitten but you haven't opened the message.
"Maybe she's busy." He shrugged, it was a Friday morning after all. You probably didn't even have time to look at your phone like always. But when he entered the kitchen, he was surprised to see your crew already working without you there. Yunho went to the locker room but you weren't there either.
"She's coming in late. Had something to attend to." Seonghwa spoke as he mixed the cake batter.
"Oh... Okay, thanks." Yunho frowned slightly, scratching his head as he went to the front. You didn't mention this to him last night. Did something happen to the kitten during the night?
"Sorry, the number you have dialled is-"
Yunho chewed on his bottom lip, you were not answering your phone or your texts. He straightened up and went to call Seonghwa out.
"What's up?" Seonghwa asked with raised eyebrows as he leaned against the counter.
"Hyung, (y/n)'s okay, right? It's just, I was with her last night and she didn't mention that she had anything on this morning that would make her late... So I'm just worried..." Yunho rambled.
"She's fine, Yunho. There's not much I can tell you... But rest assure, she's okay. But she's not contactable." Seonghwa placed his hand on Yunho's shoulder to give it a light squeeze and gave the taller a small smile. Yunho nodded his head slowly.
"As long as she's okay. Let me know if you guys need any help in the kitchen." He forced a smile.
"We will. And yes, she's okay. If she wasn't, I would have told you. She should be coming in soon." Seonghwa nodded and headed back to the kitchen to continue baking.
"What's up?" Wooyoung tipped his head at Seonghwa when he saw the older come back in.
"Asked about (y/n). You know she's uncontactable and he's worried because she didn't tell him that she'll be late today." Seonghwa said.
"Oh... No wonder he's worried. Wait, she hasn't told him yet?" Jongho asked as he took the cookies out of the oven. Seonghwa shook his head with a soft sigh.
"It's her decision to tell him. We all know how private she is..." Wooyoung reminded.
Just then, you walked into the kitchen, yawning with two big cups of coffee in your hands. Not even saying hi to your team, you went to the locker room to put your things down first. You leaned against the shelves, taking long sips of your coffee. You needed coffee immediately so you bought two cups.
"Hey." Seonghwa popped in.
"Hey, Hwa, sorry. I'll be right out." You grabbed your apron and tied it around your waist. He hummed and went back to the kitchen to wait for you.
"(y/n), are you okay?" San tilted his ehad when he saw you come out, setting your cups of coffee aside.
"Morning, San. Yes, I'm fine. Thanks for stepping in to help." You chuckled and went to wash your hands. With you around, you were able to take over and San went back out to the front.
"They don't need you anymore?" Mingi asked as he filled the machine with more coffee beans.
"Nope. (y/n)'s here so I think they got it handled." San informed.
"(y/n)'s here? Like here in the kitchen?" Yunho blinked. San raised an eyebrow at his question but nodded his head slowly, with much uncertainty and confusion. Yunho put his things down and went to the kitchen.
"Jagiya~" Wooyoung was hugging you from the back, rocking you from side to side with a smug smile on his face. You were unbothered, cutting up something in front of you.
"Woo, this isn't very safe when I'm using my knife." You said but of course he ignores you.
"We should discuss the dinner menu for tonight so I can get started on prep." You told the rest of the team.
Throughout the time he has been with you, Yunho has been learning how to read you. You were functioning and speaking fine to your team but there was exhaustion on your face.
"Kicking it old school, tonight's pasta is bolognese." You smiled and the boys clapped.
"Traditional style, of course?" Jongho asked and you nodded.
"For fish, let's do a mi cuit salmon with microgreens, buerre blanc, potato puree and pickled beetroot." You said, waving your hand to get your thought processing out. (Mi cuit is French for half baked. Salmon is sous vide at a low temperature until firm but still has the texture, look and taste of raw salmon)
"I think we should do a wet brine for the salmon before putting it into the sous vide." Seonghwa suggested and you wrote it down.
"We should do pork chops with stewed apples and blue cheese sauce." Wooyoung raised his hand.
"Alright. We can throw the pork chops into the sous vide machines. If we have the sous vides going, let's do some chicken breast for classic caesar?" You tilted your head.
"We still have those smaller, thin cuts of beef... What can we do with them?" Jongho reminded.
"Let's leave it for tomorrow." You said.
Yunho quietly observed how you continued to lead the discussion on the food menu for dinner. Like the professional you always are, you didn't let whatever was bothering you affect your work.
"Dessert, let's do sticky toff. It's been a while!" Seonghwa was quick to throw his suggestion in.
"I question the personal motive behind that suggestion but I do agree that it's been a while. So we're doing individual sticky toffee puddings with caramel sauce and vanilla custard? Or should we do ice cream?" You chuckled.
"Ice cream is better since we already have caramel sauce." Wooyoung said. You wrote down everything and pinned it up.
"Alright, let's finish up here and start on some prep work. Then I'll continue after you guys leave." You said. They nodded and you got to work right away.
"We'll do the cleaning." Seonghwa and Wooyoung did it while Jongho assisted you with prepping.
"Hey." Yunho came in.
"Oh, hey." You smiled. But of course, Yunho wouldn't just greet you with a smile. He came over to hug you tightly, quickly planting a kiss to the top of your head.
"You want a coffee?" He offered. You shook your head, nodding over to the two cups of coffee you had brought in with you.
"Is it okay to be drinking so much coffee at once?" Yunho tilted his head.
"Nope!" Seonghwa answered for you, making you roll your eyes. You scoffed loudly to show Seonghwa you were ignoring him and patted Yunho on the hip before going back to help Jongho with the prep. Having already missed the morning stuff, you didn't want to lag behind, you wanted to make up for the work that you didn't do.
You noticed that Yunho was strangely quiet but you couldn't put your finger on it. Usually, he was loud and excited when he sees you but today, he greeted you and left obediently.
"Is Yunho okay? Did something happen when I wasn't around?" You asked Jongho.
"Nothing happened but Yunho hyung was worried when he didn't see you this morning. Didn't know where you were..." Jongho informed.
"Oh." You replied, continuing your prep work.
"Fridge?" Wooyoung came over, seeing the containers of prepped ingredients that you were done with. You nodded and he helped you bring them all to the walk in.
"You guys should head off soon, I"ve got it covered here." You said, checking your watch.
"Don't stay too long. We'll see you tonight, princess." The boys all left without argument. Wooyoung hugged you tightly and gave you a big kiss on your cheek, to which you scrunched your nose. Jongho gave you a brief hug.
"Don't overwork yourself, sweetheart, hmm?" Seonghwa stroked your head. You hummed and he hugged you before patting your head with a soft smile.
"The crew just left?" Yunho came in.
"Yeah, I'm finishing up on the prep. After that, we'll go back to mine to pick up the kitten for the vet?" You asked.
"Sure. Do you need help in here?" Yunho leaned against the metal counter.
"Help me fill the big bins with water? I'll need to clamp the sous vide machines and get it heated." You pointed. Yunho helped you do that while you cooked the caramel sauce for the dessert.
"What else is there to do...?" You thought out loud and went over your list of things that you could prep.
"(y/n), why don't I pick the kitten up from yours then we can bring it to the vet from here?" Yunho suggested.
"Oh, sure." You were surprised at his suggestion but you weren't against it. You gave Yunho the key to your place and he left to pick the kitten up. Now you were worried, Yunho and you were always together, given the opportunity. It was odd for him to suggest he go ahead and pick the kitten up first.
"I'm done with my duties." Hongjoong came in, finding you alone. Honestly, he thought he would find Yunho in here with you.
"Can you bring that tray of meats to me, please?" You requested. He brought over the vacuum pack sealed pork chops for you to dump into the heated sous vide water.
"Where's Yunho?" Hongjoong asked, continuing to help you were he could.
"Oh, he went to help me pick something up from my place. He'll be back soon." You informed.
"Are you alright, (y/n)? Is something bothering you?" Hongjoong noted how you were slightly distracted as you were doing whatever you were doing.
"I'm probably overthinking it but Yunho's just acting a little weird today so I'm wondering if everything's okay." You shrugged.
"Hmm, from what I know nothing happened today in the store and he's been fine... You know, the usual Yunho... I'm sure it's nothing, don't be too worried. We all have our off days, even energetic puppies." He gave a comforting smile.
"Yeah, you're right. Thanks, Hongjoong." You laughed in agreement, it was funny to hear Yunho's friends refer to him as a puppy too. Subsequently, the other boys came in to offer help too.
"All these in the fridge?" Yeosang checked.
"Yeah. But keep the trays separate, they're portioned according to the different dishes." You said.
"Sure." He and Mingi brought it whatever you were done with. With their help, you were done relatively quickly. Just in time, Yunho pulled up to the restaurant.
"Bye, thanks guys. See you tonight." You waved to them before hopping into Yunho's passenger seat.
"Thanks for going to pick him up." You said.
"You're very welcome, love. Are you tired?" Yunho softened, reaching over to cup your cheek. You shook your head, leaning into his touch and closing your eyes. You let out a long exhale.
"Shall we talk after the vet?" He asked. You hesitated for a while before nodding, even if your heart was pounding nervously against your chest. With that, Yunho drove to the vet clinic where you had made an appointment for the kitten this morning. He helped you carry the crate with the kitten.
"Hi, I have an appointment?" You went to register at the receptionist counter. Yunho watched your back as you signed the kitten in.
"At least just now when I went to pick him up, he wasn't trying to maul me." Yunho said to you as you took the seat beside him to wait for your turn.
"Maul you? I highly doubt that tiny kitten can maul someone so much bigger like yourself." You laughed.
"He's opening up to me. See? I have that effect on black cats." He coughed, sending you a mischievous grin and side eye.
"I'm not a black cat." You scoffed, picking up the crate and looking at the kitten inside. It let out a small meow and pressed his nose against the gate to try and sniff you.
"Cutie. I hope you slept well." You giggled. He clawed at the gate to show his frustration of being locked up. So you caved and let him out of the crate. However, instead of putting him in your lap, you set him down in Yunho's.
"Since you claim he's comfortable with you now." You laughed, leaning against his arm.
"I said he didn't try to maul me, I didn't say he's comfortable with me." Yunho rolled his eyes but watched as the kitten tried to get comfortable, curling up in his lap.
When the nurse called you, you held the kitten in your arms while Yunho held the crate and entered the vet's office.
"Good afternoon. What can I do for you today?" The vet smiled. However, her smile seemed to grow bigger when she saw Yunho walk in.
"We found this kitten last night in the park, abandoned in the box. We're not sure how long he's been there. So we just want to make sure he's fine." You explained.
"Oh, sure. That's so nice of you to take him in, I'll just do a general check of him." She said, staring at Yunho as she spoke. You raised an eyebrow of amusement at her behaviour and her suddenly flirtatious smile, she was obviously very taken to Yunho's good looks. I mean, who isn't?
"Thank you, doctor." Innocent and ever-so kind Yunho smiled back with bowed his head. He came to stand by your side as the doctor examined the kitten.
"From what I see, judging by his posture, he's about 4 weeks old? But he's malnourished." She said.
"Good that you cleaned him and fed him." She smiled at Yunho.
You were not jealous and you knew how Yunho was. He wasn't deliberately flirting back with her, he was too kind and gracious to anyone he meets. He can't help his golden retriever tendencies.
"Actually, my girlfriend did it all, she's amazing. The kitten isn't too friendly with me yet." Yunho grinned.
"Oh..." The vet cleared her throat awkwardly at the mention of the word 'girlfriend'. You had to purse your lips to stop yourself from laughing at her expression.
"Let me just do some scans and bloodwork. You can wait outside, we'll call you again when we're done." The doctor said a little more uncomfortably now. You nodded and headed to the exit but Yunho quickly grabbed your hand, making you give him a look.
"She kept smiling at me, I felt oddly violated." Yunho whimpered softly to you.

I probably sent a lot of these now im so sorry lmfao 😅
You mentioned in one of the asks that some countries are like a prototype/based of our existing countries, like Germany=Mondstadt, Liyue=China, Inzauma=Japan....
So even though the language is more or less identical for you to make heads and tails in a conversation or writing in a book, the reverse side does not.
Creator!Reader who knows a couple of languages (plus points if they're atleast fluent or have a understanding of it despite not being able to speak said language) and being born from a country that doesnt have the same language as the countries Teyvat based off. Basically Spanish, Italian, Filipino, Scandinavian languages that also have their own way of writing.
Imagine feeling homesick and the only thing that keeps you occupied is the notebook and pen you have while the others converse in a meeting or in a hangout. You started writing in your tongue and re-reading it to relive memories.
Zhongli, AlHaitham, Albedo, Jean, maybe the Berry bros too (Diluc & Kaeya) get curious only to have a double-take and immediately thinks that maybe there is a forgotten land in Teyvat that has this language, I mean Morax stayed faithful to Liyue and Barbatos blessed his country with abundance of supplies and freedom. Teyvat gods and archons played favourites, so why wouldn't you as well? (Bonus: Khaenriah flashbacks) (also I know these arent enough characters but how should I know? I only have a handful of them and I ran out of Primos😭
The people from Akademiya though? I mean they went hard on theorizing and picking apart the language of their creator. Have you seen Matpat's descent to insanity the more FNAF continues to push out LoRe? Thats basically them because Teyvat doesn't have a country based on Creator's birth country. They're grasping nothing but air and dead ends and the only lead they have is you, but couldnt ask because you look so down and they cant bear to see Creator sad....
(NEW BANNER TOMORROW AND I DONT HAVE ENOGH PRIMOGEMS HALP---)
Rip Vine boom no primos 🙏 hope u got some more by this time bc i was so late to reply lol - DUDE IM SO READY FOR THE GORG KAVEH <333
BERRY BROS!! Thats it, thats the only way im gonna refer to them now.
Not super long to add onto ur bc UR SO SMART AND SUCH A GOOD WRITER VINEBOOM U SHOULD ALSO WRITE STUFF SO I CAN GO OBSESS OVER UR WRITING WITH A MILLION FERAL COMMENTS-!!!
Tumblr media
(Cute owl house gif is like, metaphorially u and zhongli in this lol)
EDIT 8/23/23: So this may be inaccurate/not that good to my Hispanic Readers out there! Sorry about that, I'l make sure to do better in the future.
EDIT 1/1/24: Unfortunately there are even more issues here, and I'm really sorry about that. I expanded on it more in my Eldritch fanfic post in Part 2, but it was exoticism of me to use the word "Huangdi". I have since replaced it with "Emperor", and don't intend to just erase the mistake like it never happened. But I did change it in the headcanons for better readability. Again, I'm genuninely sorry about this, and will absolutely be watching out/doing better in the future. I hope you understand.
THIS SOUNDS SO SAD, LIKE THIS COULD DEF BE ANGST, ESP SINCE U HAVE NO FAMILIAR-ISH CULTURE TO TURN TO-
tbh im american and i def dont think theres a u.s. country- oh god at least I hope not, damn but im also familiar with mexican culture so i wouldnt miss the united states, but id miss mexican culture…
BUT!!
You have a lot of amazing people who care about you in Teyvat, so they won’t let you stew in ur homesickness for long
like random said, i could see it being small stuff
ok so imma just-
LATINO! READER TIME BABBYYYYY
(i do this bc its just the culture/language im more familiar with, but dont let that discourage anyone from requesting other cultures! I will def do my research, or ur welcome to tell me all about it so i can write it better! <3)
THAT BEING SAID IM MOSTLY WHITE PLS LMK IF SHIT IS WRONG/SPANISH IS WRONG BC IM STILL A BEGINNER MY BELOVED LATINES!
<3 YOU GUYS
you’ve been in the game-turned-life world of Genshin Impact for nearly 6 months now, turns out time isnt wonky as hell like it is if you were playing the game, half bc u bribed Albedo with answers to his many questions about you if he figured out the time difference, and half bc of ur internal clock
people would notice the cuss words first lmao
like Xiao hearing u stubbing ur toe on the million and one steps up to Wangshu Inn, hijueputa!
or Keqing pointing out the words you coo at the dogs hanging out by the bridge outside the harbor,
un perrito tan buenoooo!! :’)
while most would just, " hmm, maybe a dialect of one of the other countries we havent heard…"
but Zhongli? he’s been ready for centuries in case the prophecy came true within his lifetime, afterall, many things changed while he’s been alive, not crazy to him that you might descend randomly
While everyone else was unprepared, bc u were like… the oldest deity, more legend than history, so ppl just thought Morax was a little overly faithful …so when it actually happened,, Morax was just smirking as he watched ur golden shooting star streak the night sky… while absolute pandemonium consumed the mortals and adepti in liyue lmao
(like that scene of Regina George in Mean Girls watching the student body break out into an all out brawl just smirking 😭 pls god look it up if u dont know what i mean- )
So Morax- Zhongli, has been ready for you, just in case, to pay attention to what kind of person you’d be, learn your favorite clothes/colors/offerings, see what things you’d like to talk about with him (hopefully for hours) etc.
He was observant, and with his memory, he practically gave himself headaches sometimes with how aware he was,
on one of those days he was overwhelmed by the mortal crowds, the smells, the market yelling, and all the change from what he thought he knew-
Zhongli noticed you in your own melancholy, and curious, he began to stroll just behind
You sit at Wanmin restaurant, still somber, and ask Xiangling to
“please try out these recipes? they’re from my world, and id really love to have something like them again..”
a true experimental chef as always, Xiangling quickly takes up your offer, and u follow her into the kitchens in the back (the restaurant is much more real than in game, they have gorgeous inside seating, all shades of red coloring the walls and lots of pretty latticework-)
Zhongli takes a seat finally, he has a usual table at this point he comes in so much coughtorunintoyoucough the staff know it's his and give him tea pretty quickly
the food, and the looks, makes it your favorite restaurant in Liyue, the Liuli Pavilion a little too fancy for casual dining, afterall, Zhongli would know
He’s tried to keep track of your favorite places to be in Liyue too, and kept his near full attention on what you say when he asks after your stays in Liyue (he hasn’t felt the need to pay that much attention or felt that much interest in conversation partners in… decades?)
So when you come out of the kitchen, throwing your head back and laughing, "Sí, sí! It all tastes so close Xiangling! Gracias, thank you!"
He wants… to know.
to know what those strange, but delicious looking, foods are all balanced on two big dinner plates
Xiangling carrying whatever you couldn’t just behind, a pitcher of white liquid, it smells, like cinnamon?
He raises a hand, and offers the extra seats at his table, (when did his tea go cold? he only just sat down, he couldn’t have spent that long thinking about you…)
You notice and look over, a giddy grin lighting up your face (…hmm, perhaps he needs to transform into his Exuvia form and let off some steam, his chest has warmed too much right now for him to just be sitting here…)
You plop into the seat beside him, but not before carefully placing the plates in front of both you and Zhongli
You scootch around until you’re turned towards him, as always, Zhongli looks… actually kind of, happy?
a small soft smile pulls at his lips, his eyes half-lidded as they meet yours, his usual red eyeliner framing his monolids perfectly, he looks like he’s been,, well, sculpted from stone, an artwork come to life
“…My Emperor? Could I trouble you to tell me about the dishes before us?”
the geo god’s pleasantly smooth and deep voice felt so soft asking you that, like he didn’t want to push you one direction or the other
“Oh! Right! Sorry, these are from my home country, back in my world, or at least, as close as Xiangling and I can get to them!”
Your smile brightens your face once more, clearing away any leftover stormclouds from your mood earlier, and as you launch into explaining (Xiangling had to get back to orders, so it’s just you two now)
You list it all, the quintessential: quesadillas, empanadas, tamales, chorizo (you had to combine at least 5 different spices to Mondstadt sausages to get anywhere close to the real thing) the dips obviously, salsa, queso, guacamole, and the easy street tacos, and finally the horchata, but also all the weird fruits Teyvat has with chile, like Sunsettias mixed with Harra from Sumeru or Lavender melons with Wolfhook berries… all surpringly pretty good
(the Sun-Harra combo tastes like mango, a sort of deeper taste of pineapple/kiwi and a sort of light orange taste? all with the nice addition of chile flavors, the Lavender melons and Wolfhooks helped imitate chamoy enough that your heart was satisfied)
…you realize you’ve just been talking about the last meal you had with your family/friends instead of the food after a bit, and Zhongli hasn’t said anything…
you trail off and look back over your shoulder (u were practically about to get your shirt in the imitation guac u were leaning so far over the table to point and talk)
you’re about to sheepishly apologize for taking over the conversation, and ask if he wants to try anything (Zhongli can handle spice so u dont have to worry abt that at least)
but as u finally see his face, u just stop, and dont end up saying anything
He’s just, looking at you.
his smile's not huge, but big enough to make his eyes look happy, and Zhongli’s just… looking at you.
You can’t describe the look he’s giving you, but you suddenly feel… a wave of shyness wash over your heart in your chest, because he’s looking almost like, maybe like, he’s sort of, waiting for you to keep talking, his tan skin warm in the golden rays of the sun beginning to set, you don’t know why you’re noticing any of these things, and he gently, slowly, makes a move to lean into your space a little
almost above your armrest, head inches from your shoulder, he finally moves to stop looking at you-
He looks like a painting as he looks down, his eyelashes almost sitting on his high cheekbones,
you have to move your head to looking at the table too as he moved so close,
you feel your shoulders reflexitively hitch upwards as you brushed the hair on the side of his head as you turned away
He looks around, and then moves his head, not his body, he’s still leaning toward you, to look you right in the eyes again
“Why did you stop? I haven’t said much, I apologize, but it’s only because I wanted to hear you without anything interrupting you.”
You cough a little strained, “Oh! Oh I get it now yeah, thanks-”
“I want to hear you more,” his black eyes begin to warm with gold, you can vaguely see the shape of his diamond pupil revealing itself, “I want to hear about… everything, if you’ll tell me? The language, the food, the drinks, your family, your dances, your country, I want to hear it all. Won’t you please let me hear your voice some more?”
GOOOD LOOORDDDD, ITS SO LONGGGGG IM SO SORRRYYY 😭😭
OKAY IM MOSTLY SORRY THAT THIS SCENARIO HAPPENED??? IDK WHERE ZHONGLI CAME FROM- GOD IM SUBCONCIOUSLY IN LOVE WITH THAT MAN I GUESS, SORRY RANDOMANTICS-
uh, hope somebody got anything out of this, sorry abt the length, again,
also pls somebody tell me if what i said about culture/food was alright! If not I’ll def change it, pls dont let me keep it up if its inaccurate/wrong!!
Safe Travels you guys,
💀♒️

hello! it's me again. your fic with remus is absolutely magical. i have another request 💫
what about muggleborn reader and one of the marauders studying together in a library and some spells are hard for reader to cast, so they get sad and start to think something like "maybe people are right. maybe muggleborns are really not made for magic" and the boy tries to cheer them up?? ( i wanted to request it with remus again, because i absolutely adore him, but you can choose yourself who it's going to be xD )
Hi Love! Thankyou! and thankyou for the request again <3
Remus is also my favourite so i just had to write about him! plus hes such a sweetheart how could i not! :)
Warnings: None? Maybe self deprecating words/thoughts?
A sound of annoyance slipped past your lips as the wave of your wand and mutter of a spell left you devoid of a result. You had been waving your wand and trying to cast the Orchideous spell for the past hour or so, it being a part of your assignment for tomorrow; to learn and perfect a random spell and what was more random than being able to conjure a bouquet of flowers? You thought it would be easy, but clearly it was turning out to be deceptively difficult. While you struggled not so silently in the almost vacant library, Remus was sitting at a desk casually reading. Though he never once complained about your constant unsuccessful attempts of the spell, you swore you saw his eyes flick to you more than once, but Remus was too nice to actually interfere and tell you how it's done. You knew that he knew how to do the spell but you were too stubborn to ask for help and Remus knew this, plus, he wanted you to figure it out for yourself.
“Maybe say it with more.. Meaning” Remus spoke up for the first time in a while and you immediately turned and shot him an evil glare, he quickly put his attention back to his book, not wanting to get on your bad side when you were so clearly frustrated “don't tell me how to do it, Remus.. Ill figure it out” you seethed with obstinate determination, having no thoughts of surrendering to the difficulty. Even if it was tough.
You went on like this for twenty more minutes, or maybe longer, moving between sitting and standing to see if comfortability played a factor in being able to summon the flowers. As you grew more and more irritated with the spell, the more distressed and irked you got, and that didn't help with executing the spell, as it seemed as though the magic wasn’t cooperating with your annoyed mood. You groaned again, running a hand through your hair angrily and with the silence that followed you were able to hear Remus shut his book; you ignored him. “If it helps, i know James definitely hasn’t even tried to find a spell to do yet” Remus tried to lift the dull atmosphere, leaning against the bookshelf, but you still didn’t look at him “No. It doesnt help. Because even if he attempted to do one he’d probably get it first try” an exasperated sigh huffed past your lips and you swallowed thickly. “Love-” Remus started, though you didn’t let him finish.
“Maybe- maybe it's because I'm a muggleborn- maybe muggleborns are not proper witches and wizards” you scowled, tossing your wand somewhere else, not wanting to look at the thing, nor Remus for that matter, not when you felt so vulnerable. “Hey, hey” Remus started, quickly coming over and grabbing your elbow, turning you towards him “don't say that. Your magic has nothing to do with being a muggleborn- if anything, it means you’re more powerful.. Since you didn’t need your parents to have magic for you to have it..” you looked up at him, eyes slightly teary, the situation seemed to be overwhelming you and now you were at your breaking point. Even if Remus annoyed you with how much of a genius he was, you were glad he stayed with you “Your magic is in here” Remus brought his hand to your chest, against your heart and you dipped your gaze shyly “but-” you started and Remus shook his head, redirecting your gaze by tilting your chin up “No buts, dove.. Spells are hard.. And it doesn't make you any less of a witch if you struggle with one of them..”
You couldn’t help but smile at him a little, even as a stray tear ran down your cheek, Remus was quick to catch it with his thumb, wiping it away and cupping your face “C’mon, i’ll help you, yeah? How does that sound?” he smiled back at you and you nodded, ignoring any thoughts from before about needing to do the spell on your own,  “Good” he mumbled, going over to grab your wand that you threw and handing it back to you, taking it reluctantly.
“Now- wave your wand like this” Remus demonstrated with his own and you copied, “Atta girl, you already have the hang of it” he praised and your cheeks warmed from such a simple phrase.

Can I request for Lewis where your pregnant and he returns home to you in his shirt and underwear?
Yours Truly,
Lewis hamilton x fem!reader
Words:1000-ish? idk
Summary: It's Monza, Lewis is disappointed by his outcome but you're always there for him, even when not physically.
Notes: I delivered what I could and what my mind came up with, sorry if it wasn't what you wanted, also, I have a Charles Leclerc fanfic out, can you guys maybe show some love to it? Thank you <3
Tumblr media
Lewis had lost count of the amount of times he'd looked at the message you sent him to prepare for the race weekend. Whenever he works out, finishes an interview, goes on a track walk, he gets his phone after once he's finished and rereads it all over again, it gives him a surge of energy and motivation to go on and do things even more possibly.
You were unfortunately at home, unable to go with him to the beautiful country and be there for him for the race. Why? Because you have a baby that would pop out very soon, so you were instructed by Lewis himself to stay home surrounded by your family and near your doctor, even if he'd miss the birth of his baby girl, you'd still be safer and more comfortable than in a foreign country.
***
Dear Lew,
I'm still angry with you for making me stay back but I, luckily for you, still love you. You already know I'd always love you, you sneaky little arse. Me and our little girl are missing you lots, now and we really, really, really wanna see you with that trophy, babe and we know you can and will get it. So, now i'll wait till the race start and watch you push through them all till you get that pole love. Can't wait to see you on Tuesday!
Yours truly,
Your Y/N.
***
The race's result didn't come out as wanted for Lewis and it made him upset, yet he still went around with a smile on his face, until he stopped before his doorstep, ringing the doorbell with his luggage beside him.
"Coming!" You yelled from the inside, making a smile appear on his face before he'd even see you.
He can sense you struggle up from the couch while cursing whomever it was on the other side of the door before even answering. You never liked answering the door or phone calls, you'd preferred texts, of course unless it was Lewis on the other end of the phone.
"It's way too early in the mor-Lewis?" You knitted your brows up at him before you smiled widely at him and threw your arms around him.
"Hey." He chuckled, feeling your bump against his torso.
"You came early! I thought you were coming tomorrow, love?" You grinned, pulling back slightly but keeping your arms around him.
He'd noticed you, simply in a pair of clean boxers (that you stole from him, but you'd never admit, they were just too comfortable) and his shirt since you did admit that your shirts had gotten smaller and his shirts fit you more, plus, they smelled like him.
"I just wanted to spend some alone time with you before the little one comes." He told you, making you squint your eyes at him in suspicion.
"What kind of alone time?"
He simply laughed at your bewildered expression before ushering you inside and getting his things then shutting the door after him.
"It could be whatever you want?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively as your expression turned to one of horror.
"No, thank you." You turned around and quickly and 'ran' back to the couch, turning around to face your lover once your reached there. "We could cuddle?"
He nodded happily, making his way towards you as you opened your arms wide for him. He slipped into them again before seating down the both of you gently.
His hand was rested on your swollen belly, caressing it softly as the comfortable silence surrounded the happy couple.
"Are you okay, love?" You murmured, your voice so low he almost didn't catch it if he wasn't already staring at you.
He hummed. "Yes, why?"
You lifted your head up to better see him, resting your chin on the back of your hands to not bother him more than laying half your body on him.
"I'm offended that you thought I'd buy that, Sir Lewis. I've known you longer than your fans." You quirked a disappointed brow at him as he smiled at you.
"No, I'm okay, really. I've had my time, my wins and it's time for a new generation to take over." He stated, directing his attention towards the cieling since it seemed less fearful than your intense gaze.
"But, you still want to be up there with them." You mumbled, laying your head against his chest again, listening to his calm heartbeat.
"Well...isn't that what everyone wants?" He wondered as you looked up at him. You leaned up, kissing his bearded chin.
"Should we get another cupboard for your trophies, then?" You teased him lightheartedly, caressing his cheek comfortingly.
He just smiled, closing his eyes. "How about a little nap?" He suggested, wrapping his arms tighter around you.
"I don't think the little one approves." You whispered, horrified.
"What?" He frowned, tilting his head up to see you.
"My water just broke." You informed him, clenching your eyes shut in fear.
"What?!"

Malleus rant where I shall be calling him Mal or Mal-Mal
I feel like all of the beast men/animal fae in TWST would love a constantly cold significant other. And I'm totally basing this off of myself but I love to steal hoodies and clothes (especially oversized ones) and cuddle. And I'm cold all the time which makes me want to do it MORE And all of those characters have heightened senses of smell, and I feel like they'd all be possessive af due to the animal instincts and such. So constantly old partner = cuddles AND stolen clothes which then = partner smelling like them all the time PLUS partner obviously being theirs due to having their clothes as a mark for those who DON'T have that weighted sense of smell.
I also just like the thought of giant pouty boyfriend pulling tiny sleepy boyfriend into lap for cuddles because he's feeling possessive and wants tiny to smell like him and also snuggles. (I'm...gonna need someone to draw Mal-mal doing that.... If you do draw it tag me pleaseeee)
Also Mal's mood effects the weather so imagine someone flirting with you and then suddenly hearing really loud thunder and lightning strikes down really close to you and the person and you turn around and BOOM pouty dragon boyfriend. He's so oblivious and kinda stupid I love him so much, If you said "we should go out on a coffee date, how does 10 tomorrow work for you?" He would answer that that's too many.
Running up to Mal and being excited about something and wanting to share it with him!!!! And then the sky starts getting clearer and the sun shines brighter as you stay around him!!!! And then Sebek starts yelling at you for being improper and you get sad!!! And then it gets cloudy and Mal GLARES at Sebek so he shuts the fuck up!!! And Mal tells you to continue!!!! An it gets sunny again as you get excited again!!!
Listening to Mal talk about gargoyles for hours and being interested in them too and being happy to learn about them!!!! Joining Malleus's gargoyles appreciation club and being the only two members!!!! Walking around looking at the gargoyles all over campus and talking about them!!!! Drawing them with him!!!!! Ughhhhhhh I love this maaaaannnnn!!!!!!
Learning about his home!!! Teaching him about technology because pretty boy is worse than Simeon with it!!! He's broken so many phonesss
GIVING HIM A ROCK YOU THINK IS PRETTY OR JUST A GOOD ROCK AS A COURTING GIFT BECAUSE YOU ASKED LILLIA HOW TO ASK HIM OUT AND HE SAID THAT DRAGONS ASK TO COURT BY GIVING UP THE MOST VALUABLE POSSESSION THEY HAVE OR GIVING HIM YOUR FAV PLUSH BECAUSE ITS YOUR MOST VALUABLE POSSESSION DUE TO THE EMOTIONAL VALUE AND YOU TELL HIM "PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF HIM/HER/THEM FOR ME OKIES?" WHEN YOU ASK HIM OUT!!!!!! HIM BEING SAD AND POUTY THAT YOU BEAT HIM TO ASKING YOU OUT!!!
Being scared of yelling and having Sebek yell at you about your behavior towards Mal-mal and tearing up and Mal seeing it happen and being vv mad at Sebek and protective about it and aaaaaghhh

(Platonic! Tsu'tey x Avatar! Reader) (Platonic! Jake x Avatar! Reader)
From the moment they woke up in home tree, they fucked up and nearly died, which is weirdly not an overdramatization at all. What more when Tsu'tey has them ride a direhorse with no practice?
(3.2k) Part 4
Tumblr media
"Jarhead clan?"
Grace stood with her hands on her hips, eyeing the two who were fresh out of the link pods.
"It worked."
Norm quickly attended to them, whose body had apparently also been bleeding while their avatar did.
"Be grateful it did, Marine. What about them?"
"They didn't say anything about a clan, but I guess the Na'vi assumed we were warriors together."
"You ok kid?"
They glanced over as Norm shoved more cotton up their nose aggressively, making their voice sound weird. "I'm fine, just the usual."
"Yeah, their avatar's more banged up, you should see it." Jake laughed, recalling their look of 'freshly powdered baby' when covered in the healing paste.
They glared at him lightly. "Thanks for throwing me under the bus dipshit."
"Oh, I-" Jake tried to correct himself.
Grace took over, stepping in front of them and raising a brow. Asking a silent question.
"Well, I woke up in a tree-" They began to explain. "Had some minor bruises. Don't remember how I got there at all. But then I fell off a tree kind of-"
"You rolled off the tree?" Norm interrupted them.
"It was a different tree, and I jumped."
"You jumped?" He looked incredulous, stopping momentarily in his aggresive camapaign for cotton to start a society in their nostrils.
"I think this is very counterproductive, this whole, repeating my words back at me."
Norm went to retaliate again but Grace stopped him. "You jumped, why?"
"I was trying to stay in the trees so that I wouldn't unlock some biology stuff by accident on the ground and bleed out. Plus there were animals there and like, hell no. I tried to jump from one tree to another and fell."
"And after that? How did the Omaticaya approach you?"
Norm made them drink some pills, making the conversation halt. Afterwards, they continued. When it got to the part of them walking into the arrow, Jake whooped.
He pat their shoulder. "Badass move, love it."
"Reckless move." Grace countered. "You do know they dip their arrows in a neurotoxin? How is the avatar still alive?"
"There wasn't any neurotoxin on the arrow."
"And how would you know?"
"Because otherwise, I'd be dead. There wasn't any." They felt the need to explain further. "Maybe Tsu'tey ran out of them or something, I don't know Grace."
She made a motion telling them to go on with the story. The others awed when they got to the part with the atokirina, though Jake just looked confused.
When they finished their story, Jake told his. The palulukan had gone after him, which had them furrow their brows, thinking of how it felt like it went after them instead.
Atokirina came to him too, and he didn't understand what they were either.
"Alright off to dinner, then to sleep you two." Grace ushered them out of the lab. "Got a big day tomorrow."
•°••°••°••°•
The next day, Grace woke them up with a gentle shove and a warm bowl of soup. "So, Tsu'tey's gonna teach you, huh?"
"You know him?"
"I taught him at the school. Before-" she took a sharp breath. "Before things happened."
They ate the soup quietly, unsure of how to reply.
Grace gave them a smile and left, throwing out a "village life starts early, better get to the pod slowpoke," before she disappeared.
Outside, the eclipse hadn't let up yet. Thinking that Grace would have woken her up with plenty of time, they took a few moments to breathe and get their thoughts in order.
They would be learning the ways of the Omaticaya. Taught by a warrior who most definitely despised them. They already knew the language at least, just needing to deal with the nosebleeds that would come with speaking or hearing it. And the sluggishness that always came with using the knowledge stuffed in their head via dangerous experiments.
Their... infliction, as the scientists called it, had at least some semblance of order. Recorded on a file, always displayed by at least one screen in the lab.
Light subjects were easy skills mostly, like origami or proper swimming form. These would make them bleed for a few minutes at most.
Medium subjects included some sciences like botany, and biology, with some math and battle strategy mixed in which would warrant a ten minute bleed.
Heavy subjects like languages, abstract algebra, and the more complex sciences left them bleeding for more than fifteen minutes, sometimes reaching half an hour.
Those were by far not the only subjects that triggered a bleed, but the scientists did their best to add in the newly discovered ones. That is to say, if they said something and their nose started bleeding, it would be added to the list according to category.
Said record of their infliction meant that as they slipped into the pod, Norm handed them something.
"What is this?"
Norm flushed red. "It's a- it's a lady... thing."
They raised a brow, twirling the plastic pod in their fingers. They had never seen one before.
"Just- put it up your nose."
"Up my nose? But, it's plastic. What is it?"
"It's-"
"Give me that before you hurt yourself." Grace snatched the plastic from them. "A tampon? Seriously, Norm?"
"They have to be in the pod all day and when their nose bleeds-"
"Yeah, yeah, I got it. Go wake Jake up."
"You're gonna put that up my nose?" They eyed the plastic warily.
"Unless you want to choke on your own blood and die."
They let Grace put the tampon up their nose. She smiled at them again before the pod closed.
They woke up back at hometree.
Itchy. Everything felt itchy. That being the first thing they thought as they tried climbing out of the hammock, failing horribly.
The day's first rays of sun still yet to reach the trees. They had to get out of the hammock.
Scratching at their skin, they sighed. "What in the fuck." They tried getting out again, succeeding only in faceplanting onto the hammock. Looking around, they realized a lot of people were still asleep and their volume would no doubt wake a few.
"Oh shit," they whispered, waiting a few seconds to see if they woke anyone up. No one moved.
They tried to get up again. This time their hand got caught in the net and they fell again, the force turning the net upside-down, with them still on it.
They resisted the urge to let out a scream, which took a great deal of self-control.
Especially as they were hanging upside-down and hugging the net like a lifeline. It was.
After a few moments of tense breathing their mind began to have thoughts outside of repeated expletives, calculations of the fall, and of how fucking itchy they felt. And after a few moments more, they had calmed enough to form a plan. Orange light began to creep in through the leaves. They needed to act fast.
Slowly, they began rocking the net side to side, building momentum. They felt lucky now that no one had slept beside them. Or else they would have had a rude awakening.
They swung hard to the right, finally flipping over.
More tense breathing followed as they kept hold of the now rolled-up hammock, laughing quietly. Only then did they realize there were feet on the branch in front of them.
Their brows furrowed. They looked up, still breathing heavily.
"Shit," they whispered.
Light filtered in more. Just enough to see how Tsu'tey stood there, unamused. Had he been there from the start?
"We train now." He grumbled, voice soft in consideration for the sleeping Na'vi, but definitely not for them. "Hurry." Then he walked off.
"Great. Just gotta figure out how to get off this first." They huffed. "Thanks for the helping hand. Wow, couldn't have done it without you." They added sarcastically while crawling forward.
Their tail swished around as the hammock did, making sure to keep them from tipping over again. Shuffling forward with absolutely no grace, they eventually reached the branch and clung to it.
Some people began to wake up. When they felt the first pair of eyes on them, they stood awkwardly and scratched at their neck, walking off in the general direction Tsu'tey went.
"If that is your hurry, you will get killed. Instantly."
They turned. He leaned against a branch, signature scowl on display.
"Sorry, I was busy trying not to fall to death." They wanted to add that he could have helped them, but decided against it. "Bet you'd have loved that though, one nuisance taken care of."
His ear flicked the slightest bit in annoyance. "How good is your Na'vi?"
Their brow furrowed. Had they ever said they knew Na'vi? No, they realized. Tsu'tey said that to test a hunch.
Not that it mattered, their knowledge of Na'vi would be of no use hidden.
"Good enough."
He nodded. It felt like he had something else to ask, but instead he turned. "Follow."
They passed by a few other morning people. Hunters making arrows. Crafters creating beaded tops. People gathering herbs. People tending to fires.
Each stared as they walked. Some tried not to make it obvious but others just outright stared. He couldn't blame them. They were a stranger. An anomaly. A dangerous anomaly. The Na'vi had suffered enough to know that much.
Tsu'tey did not seem to want to waste time. He power-walked the whole way down hometree, forcing them to keep up. Even as they hit the ground he didn't stop and strutted straight through the trees.
They followed, scratching at their arms as they did. In the light, they finally realized that the itch had been a result of the herbs on their scratches. They reached up to brush their fingers on their collarbone. Only dried herbs met their touch. No blood.
"Eyes open."
They walked into the forest with him, getting slapped in the face with a leaf. Tsu'tey walked a few feet in front of them, but still they felt like he had something to do with it.
Eclipse faded away, the pink hues in the sky dissolving into blue.
The forest felt just as exciting in the day.
They ran their hand between the ridges of a plant as they passed. It shrunk down with the same fun noise that had them laughing just yesterday. Strange how so much has changed since then, they thought.
Shaking their head, they followed Tsu'tey. Everything still felt itchy. The dark green paste did wonders for the small scratches that littered their body, and even for the relatively deep gash on their collarbone. But, the cells healed so quickly that they itched so much.
"Stop that," Tsu'tey grumbled. They had yet to hear him say something without grumbling.
The itch began to die down, but they continued to scratch at their arms, taking some form of pride in how his ears twitched at the sound. No doubt he still had that scowl on his face.
Just as they were about to ask where they were going, they broke through the trees. A clearing and a stream. The ground squelched under their feet which surprised them enough to stop.
When was the last time they'd felt mud? Actual mud, not city muck. It felt good to feel actual soil under their feet. They began to lightly stomp around, laughing silently.
"Weird sky person."
They frowned. He definitely said that for them to hear.
Before they could retaliate, he called out. A loud, sharp sound. Footsteps thundered in the forest.
Their ears twitched. The footsteps grew louder. Direhorses. Two emerged from the shrubbery with elegance and approached Tsu'tey.
He stroked one with a gentleness they didn't know he could have. "You need to first learn to ride if your insanity should be cured." He looked back to see if they were listening, a silent instruction to watch carefully.
In one quick motion, he made tsaheylu and jumped onto the horse. The horse kept almost perfectly still as he did so.
"Your turn."
They lifted their hands in front of them as they approached, trying to do so carefully.
A huff said that Tsu'tey did not enjoy waiting, but he didn't seem to enjoy anything.
They continued slowly, fully aware of him getting more and more impatient. When their hand brushed against the horse, it snorted. They didn't know anything about horse riding.
They froze. Fuck.
Images flooded their brain, information ranging from proper riding grip to the types of leather used in saddles centuries ago, when horses still existed.
Tsu'tey saw it. The freeze. Thinking that they were just afraid of the direhorse, he made to tell them to get over it when they unfroze.
Quick. A split-second of non-movement. And then their hand reached up to wipe at their nose. "Shit."
Without thinking, they made tsaheylu, intending to jump onto the horse after but the connection jolted them.
They took a breath. The horse took a breath. They stepped back. The horse stepped back.
Clarity. Slowly, but quicker than ever before, the thoughts subsided. And they didn't need them. Placing both hands flat on the horse's firm back. Pushing themself up. Swinging a leg over, and they were seated.
They blinked. It felt almost natural, which showed throughout the lesson.
Tsu'tey had them trot and gallop, through mud, water, and areas with plenty of roots for the horse to trip over. He looked pained every time they'd manage to get by.
They were proving him wrong. They could learn. They could do decently.
And then the horse bucked forward. Instead of falling off from the force, they somehow stayed on, shooting through the forest. Leaves hit them everywhere. Stray branches scratched at their skin.
They kept their eyes closed, trying to tell the horse to stop, to no avail. Until it did stop. So suddenly that they slipped forward, tipping to the right and falling.
At the last second something made contact with their leg. The force kept them from colliding with the ground but caused pain. A sharp jolt that coursed up their leg from the ankle.
"Ow." It took a second to get their bearings upside-down. But as soon as they spotted the second set of direhorse legs, they knew they were fucked.
"How reckless are you?" He wasn't yelling but his voice seemed to echo through the forest. He held onto the back of their ankle. Almost dangling them over the ground. "I have no time for your foolish games, take this seriously or leave."
"I am taking it seriously. We've been at this for hours and this is my first slip up." They huffed the best they could upside down, trying to get a hold of the direhorse to push themselves back up. The hold on his ankle loosened. "Don't drop me."
He dropped them.
They took a faceful of mud.
They were gonna kill him. Tsu'tey for letting go, or Jake for getting them into this? Both, preferably.
They wiped off the impromptu mud mask as best they could, sitting up on their knees and turning to glare at Tsu'tey.
"I thought you liked the mud."
Even with the pounding in their head from the fall, they could clearly see the smirk on his face. The only deviation from his scowl and it had to be caused by their pain. Of course, it had to.
An idea formed as they stood, gathering some mud in both hands. And then they shook the mud off like a wet dog, trying to aim the chaos in his general direction.
After a few good seconds, they stopped.
His expression. God, they wished they could take out a camera and snap a picture.
Flecks of mud stuck to him all over, including a particularly sizable glob on his cheek.
They had done it on a whim, and as soon as the elation had a dash of horror, as soon as the barest flicker of fury crossed his face, they mounted their horse and turned back the way they came.
This kind of thing happened often. A fleeting act of defiance that they would suffer for. On earth it had been isolation or more experimentation. They didn't want to know what price they would have to pay on Pandora.
When they reached the clearing, Neytiri looked to be helping Jake with direhorse riding as well. Only he hit the mud a lot sooner than they did.
They laughed, drawing the two's attention. "Sorry." They smiled.
"Why are you laughing, pipsqueak?" Jake smiled when he saw them. "We match!"
They got off their direhorse and walked to the stream. "I did not fall of my own accord."
"English?"
They took a second, the words moving slowly as if ther mind were filled with jelly. They shook their head. The haze cleared. "I said I didn't fall on my own."
"What's that mean?"
Tsu'tey entered the clearing, looking deep in thought. Jake stifled a laugh.
He looked up, the shape of his brows furrowing when he registered Jake and Neytiri.
Neytiri had a hand over her mouth to hide her smile, Jake was not so secretive. He grinned widely, glancing over at them and conveying with a look that he knew they'd done it.
They had to admit, Tsu'tey had good composure. His ears and face didn't even turn dark when his direhorse turned around and walked through a bush to go further downstream.
Jake, however, did not have any composure at all. He laughed even before he got out of earshot, stumbling back onto his knees and clutching his stomach.
They laughed with him. Even Neytiri joined in before she kicked Jake up and told him to go wash.
"He let you fall?"
"He dropped me in the mud."
They told him what happened, leaving out specific mentions of their infliction because though Neytiri stayed a respectful distance away they could see her ears twitch as she listened.
"And the-" he motioned to his face, unable to stop a smile at the memory. "What was that about?"
They shrugged. "Fuck if I understand what I do." They wiped at their face.
•°••°•°••°•°••°•
The next morning, Tsu'tey stood at the foot of their hammock again. He said nothing this time and just walked off. They walked down hometree, into the forest, past the clearing. He motioned for them to get onto one of the grazing direhorse.
They had been dreading the next lesson all throughout dinner. Maybe Tsu'tey would have them jump off a cliff to test their loyalty or something. Yell at them during dinner. Have them sacrifice themselves for Eywa.
They would admit that their imagination had run wild, but they didn't know him all that well. Who knew if he was as batshit crazy as their mind twisted him to be.
But now there he was. Leading them through the forest so silently it felt like they were alone. He didn't even glance back.
Their imagination tilted, like a cup placed precariously on a table's edge. He would leave them in the forest to die. Straight into a den of palulukans. Kick them off a cliff. Then they saw the glint of metal on his direhorse. Looking closer, he had a pouch of arrows and a bow.
Oh, they thought, and the cup fell, their thoughts spilling over. He's gonna use me for target practice.

While on the mission, Pope and the guys find a girl tied up in the basement of a drug lord. Through a few unforeseen circumstances, the girl and Pope get separated from Will, Frankie and Benny and have to find their way back in the woods. She doesn’t talk, is malnourished and traumatized, and Pope has the instinct to protect her at all costs.
(Pretend this is him leaning over a railing while talking to Fish okay)

“Home sweet home” Santi opened his front door, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible, despite being exhausted from the flight. He let her in, holding the door as she wandered in, carrying her backpack. Lace had refused to let Santiago Garcia carry it. He was already carrying his bags plus one of Benny’s, and she already felt uncomfortable with her dependance on him. Benny’s friend had picked them up, dropping Santi and Laci off at his place. Frankie and Will had stayed behind for a few extra days to finish what they were supposed to all do in the days after they raided the house. Unfortunately, between Santi’s disappearance from the house and Benny’s gunshot wound, they had gotten side tracked. Will had a fucking fit about Santi leaving, which had turned into some choice words and a Frankie once again having to separate them before it got too far. Frankie, who was less than thrilled about Santiago leaving with Laci, agreed Santiago should go. Ben wanted to stay as well, but his shoulder was still out of commission. Frankie also thought it was a good idea to separate Will and his injured brother to allow Will space to calm down without constantly seeing his brother damaged
Laci took in the space. She wore pants and a long sleeve, covering the array of bruises she was still recovering from. She turned to him with a smile. ‘It’s nice’  The place wasn’t huge, but it was clean, it was safe, and it was his. After he had retrieved the money that was thrown in the canyon, Santi had split it with his 3 other friends. Most of them felt… wrong, having the money, so they all kept the money aside for emergencies, donated a lot, and made a few smart purchases. All of them had bought houses, no mortgage. At the very least, they’d always have a home.
“It’s late, but we can go to the store tomorrow and get you set up with some more clothes, anything else you need.”
She turned to him, nervous and shaking her head. “It’s fine”
“No, Lace it’s okay, let me do this.”
“I’ll be fine. I’ll get a job and get out of your hair” She dodged his eyes again. They had made a lot of progress, she was talking more freely, but she never held his eyes for long.
“Lace…” Pope wondered how he could make her see, make her believe that he just wanted to help her. He took her hands, careful not to startle her. “This… this is your home now. You can stay here as long as you need, I mean it. Don’t worry about working until you’re ready. Let’s get you set up with services, counseling, medical… Don’t even think about work yet.”
She leaned into him, holding tight on his hands but looking away. “Expensive.” She muttered.
He sighed. “Listen, it’s a lot to explain but… I came into some money recently. Don’t worry about that. Just…” He took her face in his hand, turning her face to him, and she finally looked at him. “Lace, let me take care of you” He kept her eye contact, watched her eyes searching his face. She was looking for a hint of a lie, of malicious intent. She found nothing but tenderness.
Before Santiago even had a moment to react, her lips were on his. He kissed back the moment their lips met, purely on instinct. When his brain caught up and realized it was her, it was her lips, chapped and hesitant, he kissed back with more fervor, wrapping his arms around his waist and she melted into his arms. Then, he realized what was happening. Santi pulled away, taking a few steps back and away from her, disgusted with himself.
“I’m sorry” He said all too quickly, as soon as he saw her distressed face. “I shouldn’t have done that.”
He expected her to cry or panic, he didn’t expect this response. Her face set into a nervous determination. She pointed at him and shook her head. Then she pointed at herself. ‘You didn’t do it, I did’
“I know,” He clarified. Here he was with a traumatized and vulnerable girl in his home, she probably felt obligated to sleep with him, she thought that's what he wanted… He scrubbed his face, then looked back at her. Laci’s face was red, looking at the floor. She was embarrassed. “Can we just… let's pretend this never happened, okay? Finish showing you around?”
She nodded, not talking. Santi fought the urge to sigh again. Two steps forward, one step back. “C’mon, I’ll show you the yard.” He wanted to just block out the last two minutes from their collective memories. He started walking toward the sliding glass doors, but stopped when he heard her footsteps stop. He turned around and saw her staring at his bookshelf, staring at the 5 porcelain dolls on the top shelf.
She cocked her eyebrow up at him with a teasing smile. ‘Yours?’
He smiled, happy the tension was gone. “My sister’s, actually.”
Laci grinned, still lookin at the pretty, well cared for dolls, but was slightly nervous. She pointed to the house in general “does she live here?”
Santi’s kind smile waved a tad. “She died. It’ll be two years next month. Overdose.”
She turned to him, but he remained focused on the shelves, so she turned back. After a moment, she spoke. “My brother. I was 20. He raised me after our parents died.” Another pause as Laci took a shaky breath. “Suicide.”
Santi took her hand.
******************
A week later, Santi was parking his car on Frankie’s street. “You sure you’re okay? We can still turn around, Fish will understand.”
Laci had thought she was hiding her anxiety well, but somehow, Pope always knew what she was thinking. This was helpful, seeing as she still hardly spoke. It came and went in moments, he was never exactly sure what caused her to start or stop talking. If she was anxious or upset she shut down, but sometimes there didn’t seem to be a cause.
She looked at him with a little smile. ‘It’s fine. You want to go, so we’ll go.’ The two of them had gone everywhere together this week, every appointment and every meeting with a social worker or doctor. He wouldn’t leave her at the house alone, and he knew she would insist on going despite her reservations. She had asked who was coming. Pope knew that was code for ‘is Will coming’. The two of them had yet to interact. With Frankie, at least, he made an attempt to speak to her, dropping by when he got back to the states and asking yes/no questions to Laci so she didn’t feel left out. Will hadn’t been over, nor had be called. But she was fairly comfortable around Ben. Benny had been over a few times, and Laci even let Santi leave the room to go to the bathroom or get snacks, leaving her alone with Ben while they watched tv. Always Sunny in Philadelphia, of all things. It made him smile when he’d return to the room, watching her and Benny laughing out loud together.
They hadn’t addressed the kiss and neither made a move, but the tension was palpable some days. Her first full day there, she had tried to make him dinner while Pope showered. When he heard a bunch of banging, he rushed out, only stopping to wrap a towel around his waist and ran to the kitchen. He found Laci  cleaning up a bunch of pans that had fallen on the floor. Looking up, her eyes widened as she stared at his shirtless torso. When her eyes flicked up to him, they stayed like that for a moment, Santi trying to read her face. He was good at it, he usually knew what she was saying or thinking… right then, she was unreadable.
She took his hand as Pope let himself in through the back gate and she took in the scene. It was a small gathering, Frankie had promised that it would just be the guys. Frankie usually held a cook out when everyone comes back from a mission, a way for everyone to decompress. Usually, it was a fucking party. Alcohol, lots of friends, family, and any random stranger Benny had met off the street that day. Today was small. Ever the peacekeeper, Frankie was hoping Will would warm up to Laci. Fish recognized, even if Pope was in denial, that Laci was going to be  part of things for a long time. On a phone call with Ben while he was still out of the country, Benny had told him he thought something was going on between the pair, that they were absolutely inseparable. Benny was the one that noticed Santi’s watch was missing on the flight, and relayed the story Pope told him to Frankie.
“Hey guys!” Benjamin Miller swaggered over, hugging Santi and putting his hand on Laci’s shoulder. “C’mon! I’m on grill duty” It was a warm day, and now that Laci got to pick out her clothes, he found she liked to wear a lot of flowers. Her dress today was pink and white floral and a flowy skirt.
“Oh god,” Pope muttered, following the blonde boy.
“Relax, Garcia. Fish is cooking, I’m just in charge of making sure the burgers don’t burn.” Benny, Laci and Santi stood on the deck for a few minutes before Will opened the screen door, and he felt Laci tense.
He was carrying pop, tossing one to Ben and one to Santi, one for himself.
Santi called him out. “C’mon man, don’t be a dick.” He felt Laci’s hand on his arm, and turned to see her face. ‘Let it go’
Will rolled his eyes and cracked open his pop. Benny handed his to Laci “Here, I’m grabbing a beer” He walked into the house, grabbing Will with him and shutting the glass door, no doubt about to chew out Will.
Santiago turned to her “Sorry Lace, he’s being a dick.”
“You don’t have to… defend me or anything. I don’t want you guys to start fighting…” After learning about Santi’s sister’s death, and how most of his family is gone, she started to realize what these men meant to him. She didn’t want to be the one to cause any more problems than she already had.
Will and Benny returned, Will looking irritated but calmer. “Here” He handed Laci a snack pack of cheetos. A small gesture, but a gesture nonetheless.
Laci kept looking at the floor, but touched her hand to her mouth, then moved it out. ‘Thank you’ in sign language. Ben had taught Laci several basic sign language phrases to prepare for the party. All the guys know passable sign language, and this way she could communicate a few things without having to talk or have Santi translate her facial expressions.
When the door opened, Will’s grumpy face lit up. “Here’s the woman of the hour!” And held out his arms to snatch the little girl from Frankies arms. The one year old practically dived into Will’s arms. It was strange for Laci to see Will not glowering. One by one, each of the guys held the tiny toddler, Laci was absolutely enthralled with the sight of Santi holding the adorable girl, blowing raspberries on her stomach.
“Laci?” Frankie spoke up. “Would you like to hold her?”
Laci nodded frantically, and held out nervous arms for Frankie’s daughter. The 18 month old was hesitant to leave her tio’s arms, but once she was in Laci’s around, she put her little hands on Laci’s face. It was an immidiet bond between the two.
“Rosie,” Frankie steps over to the two girls, tickling the toddlers neck. “Meet Laci. Laci, this is Fatima Rosa Maria Morales Ferndanez. Or Rosie, as we usually call her, when she’s not in trouble.”
Benny smiled at his friend and his niece. “Powerful name for a powerful little girl.”
Frankie noticed Laci’s eyes welling up and her lip quivering. “You okay, Laci?”
Santi kicked himself for not picking up on her discomfort, moving to take Rosie out of Laci’s arms, but Laci held on, looking at the little girl adoringly. She turned and whispered to Santiago, who then turned to his friend, smiling. “She said she’s beautiful, Frankie.” Frankie smiled back.
The evening had been delightful. Santi always enjoyed seeing the guys, especially after a particularly stressful mission. Even if Will was being a bit of a dick. It wasn’t bad, Will knew how to tow a line, that was for sure. Just enough where Santi didn’t feel it was worth making a scene, but enough where his irritation was growing. Laci was mostly oblivious, she had Rosie on her hip, even so much as straying away from her ever-attachment at Santi’s side to play with her in the grass. Santi leaned over the deck, beer in hand as he watched her.
“I think Rosie has a friend.” Frankie joined him, looking at his daughter lovingly.
“Yeah.” Santi’s smile was huge. Frankie knew he was down bad.
“How’s she been adjusting?”
“She’s doing alright, considering. Therapy starts next week and she’s been to a few medical appointments, got her on meds, a diet to get back the nutrients she lost. Dentists gotta do some work, shit like that. She’ll have… she’ll have her moments. It’s hard to watch.”
Frankie nods. “What do you mean?”
“Sometimes I’ll find her asleep on the couch watching tv. She had to get on medicine for the nightmares, they seem to help, but she likes the light. She says the TV helps her focus. She watches Friends reruns. She doesn’t even like Friends, It’s just something else to think about, nothing serious, stupid sitcom.” He paused, unsure if he should say it, but if he could be honest with anyone, it was Fish. “She kissed me”
Frankie laughed. “Oh yeah. She kissed you.”
Pope turned to Frankie, finally looking at him “I’m serious!... I mean… I kissed back.”
“There it is.” Fish smirked.
Pope was defensive. “She did! Fish I would never want her to think she has to do anything just because I’m helping her.”
“But you wouldn’t mind if you and her… we’re together?.”
Pope rolled his eyes, “Well, she’s-” pretty he was about to say, turning back to Laci. She was on her back, legs up in the air with Rosie on her feet, playing superman. Laci’s skirt rode up, showing off the smooth curve of her ass. “Oh fuck” Santi and Frankie quickly turned out, but gave each other a side-eyed smile.
An hour later, Frankie was putting Rosie to bed, and Laci was back to Santiago’s side. When Frankie came back, everyone was gathered on the porch. “Hey Santi, I think you forgot something.” He tossed the watch to his friend.
“Fish, what the shit? How did you…?” Santi hugged Fish tighty “Hermano, how did you know I lost it?”
“Benny can’t keep a secret for the life of him.”
Benny meely shrugged, smiling.
Will, however, was confused. “Wait, is that Fatima’s watch?” He looked back and forth between Fish and Pope. “Why does Catfish have it?”
“I um…” Pope hesitated, his grin fading. “When we were in the forest, I sold it to get some food and water…”
“What the fuck Pope?” Will looked irrationally irritated.
Frankie put a hand on Will’s arm, trying to calm him. “Calm down.”
Will shrugged him up. “You sold Fatima’s watch because of her? Jesus Pope, what the hell?”
Pope put himself in front of Laci instinctively. “Back the fuck off, Ironhead. Now.”
Will look at Santi condescendingly. “What is she doing to you man? She almost got you killed, now you’re just being her bitch”
Ben saw it coming before Santi even made a move, smacking Frankie, signaling him to move. Ben grabbed Pope, holding him back as he went to punch Will and luckily, Frankie caught Ben’s message and grabbed Will’s shirt, warning him not to do anything. Laci stepped backwards until her back hit the deck railing, and there she froze.
“What is your fucking problem Will?!” Santi shouted at the much taller man.
“Do you have ANY IDEA how close you came to dying, Pope? It’s a goddamn miracle you didn’t get your head blasted open! You and Ben could’ve died! Then what? Do we spit up the money again and give it to your non-existent family and pretend it’s okay? If Ben died, would you just give me a pat on the back and say ‘Oh, sorry!’ and move on?”
Santi was in too much of a blind fury to possess what Will was saying “None of that has ANYTHING to do with her!” Santi pointed to the scared girl in the corner of the deck, clutching onto the railing for dear life.
“I told you we needed to move, but you never fucking listen! You had to baby her, you had to play knight in shining armor and rescue the pretty girl, meanwhile Benny gets shot and you literally dodge a bullet!”
Benny mumbles something about not bringing him into this, but no one was listening. Benny knew he wasn’t getting anywhere. Santi and Will would hash this out, Frankie would stop them from killing each other. He looked over to see Laci scared as shit. Carefully, he walked over to her. Her eyes were shut tight, but she knew it was Ben, because she knew what Santi’s hand felt like.
“Enough!” Frankie shouted after a few more pointless back and forths. “You guys hear that?” Through the upstairs window, everyone could hear Rosie crying. “You guys woke up and probably scared the shit out of my baby, not to mention Laci.” Santi suddenly noticed she had left his side, and felt a tinge of guilt and jealousy to see her so scared, but also holding the handsome young man’s hand. “Santi, Will, go inside and fucking sort this out like adults.” He noticed Santi glance to Laci again. “She’ll be fine, man. Jesus, Ben will be here. I’m going to put my daughter to bed and I swear to god, if you wake her up again, we’re gonna have a problem.”
Will and Santi stormed off, and Frankie went upstairs to try and put his toddler back to bed. Benny and Laci stood in silence as Laci held his hand tightly. They couldn’t hear what Will and Santi were saying, but it sounded calmer. After a while, Will opened the door, looking embarrassed. “I need to talk to her” he told Ben.
 “No way man-”
“Okay.” The Miller brothers turned to Laci, eyes finally open and looking directly at Will for the first time.
Hesitantly, Benny let go of her hand, telling Will not to be an asshole, closing the screen door instead of the glass door. “Can I close the glass door? I don’t want them eavesdropping.” Laci nodded, and Will closed it. Much like Santi, Will scrubbed his face. “How much did Santi tell you about our history together.”
She held up her fingers together. ‘Very little’
“He tell you bout Tom?”
She shook her head.
Will sighed. “Last year, a mission went wrong. I got shot.” Despite how much of an ass he had been, he swore he saw a bit of pity on her face. “But we had another friend, his name was Tom. He got killed after things went very, very wrong and… I think I’ve always held onto a lot of anger and guilt over it. A lot of feelings I don’t know how to let out in a normal way. Seeing my brother get shot, and those few days where I thought Santi had been killed or taken, I think… Well I think maybe it brought a lot of feelings out. I don’t know if Santi told you, but Benn is my brother. My actual brother, I mean. I know we all refer to each other as brothers…” he trailed off, realizing he was rambling. “I thought I was going to watch him die…” He shuffled his feet, trying to figure out what he was trying to say.
Surprisingly, she spoke up, although barely audible ”I didn’t ask for any of this…”
God, that hurt. Of fucking course she didn’t. This poor girl had gone through hell, and here he was making her feel worse. “I know. And I’m really sorry. I’m not good at this kind of thing…” Despite his best efforts, his voice was just a little choked up. It was a high emotion week. “I don’t really have a good excuse, but I am sorry. I know you’re going to be around a while, maybe forever-” he cut himself off. He didn’t exactly know what Santi and her relationship was., and wasn’t sure if they knew either.“I don’t want to make an enemy out of you, and I don’t want to be the person who makes you feel worse.”
Laci thought for a second, then smiled a soft, nervous smile. She tentatively walked towards him. “It’s okay.”
He shook his head. “It’s not-”
She held up a hand. He didn’t need Santi to translate that. “I get… I get really angry sometimes. Sometimes I get angry at Santi and he did nothing wrong. He doesn’t know. I push it down. But sometimes I worry I won’t be able to stop it. It’s okay.”
Will nodded. He felt like they had an understanding, at least.
She walked past him, going to find Santi. When Laci found him, he surprised her with a hug. “Are you okay, Lace?” He asked, rubbing her back.
“Yeah, I’m great. Take me home please?” She nestled her head into his chest, taking in his smell.
On the drive home, Laci asked about the watch.
“My sister gave it to me a few months before she died.” He took it off, handing it to her. “The inscription translates to ‘count all the stars and add one more’ it’s about how much the singer loves someone. It’s a song by Jesse and Joy and it features Luis Fonsi” Santi turned to her, smiling sadly “I couldn’t stand Luis Fonsi, but my sister loved him.” He turned back to the road. “Her name was Fatima. Frankie named his daughter after her. He and I grew up together. Anyway, she gave me this watch as a half joke since I hated the song. Now it’s one of my favorites. I think she knew she was dying.”
Laci put her hand on his shoulder. Usually, their touches were for Laci’s sake. This was for Santi’s. “That’s really sweet, Santi. And I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, Muñecita. For Will.”
“I think Will and I are going to get along fine.” She turned to him. “I like your friends a lot.”
Santi smiled. “Yeah, I do too.

THANK YOU FOR READING! Reblogs help a lot, comments mean the world! lmk if you'd like to be added to my tag list!
Since google doesn’t really translate it, Muñecita means little doll. Muñeca is doll, and adding -ita makes a name or object diminutive.

Well
I finally finished I See You, Sundrop! by @shirajellyfish
Slight spoily warning!
It is 1:14 in the morning as I write this (editing about a day later) and I have my first day of my senior year of high school tomorrow, but I just had to get all of my thoughts out while they were fresh.
I have never, never hyperfixated on a fanfic so hard. I've never read 400k+ words of a single fic in under a week. Somehow I managed to do that and have time to draw fanart (something I'm pretty sure I've only done once before for a fic, actually) and do my irl life shit.
How, you may ask? By continuously staying up into the wee hours of the morning :D (like 4-6am type shit, don't recommend it even if I think it was personally worth it).
I think I was so hyperfixated on the fic that I honestly didn't absorb the emotions like I should have? I felt things, surprise, excitement, a Sense of Impending Doom (/hj), but I don't think I really felt them.
I was probably a little more dissociated while reading than I usually am lol. I was so absorbed that some things barely registered. I am 100% going to have to re-read everything.
At one point I worried the fic wouldn't have a happy ending. Doesn't have the "angst with a happy ending" tag afaik and it got much worse before it got better. Saw a comment on one of the end notes and was reassured thankfully TvT. I'm very happy everyone is ok.
Love how the after ending note basically boiled down to "everyone is fine and Felix finally got some sleep" lol.
This fic was just. So good. Riley is such a dynamic character, so awesome and so cool. I really want to headcanon them as autistic (some of their behaviors just. They just. It's hard to explain, but if you're autistic too I bet you probably felt it, just a lil. They got the vibes /hj) but I know some authors can be kinda iffy about people headcanoning their OCs (which I get).
It was really cool to see an honest to goodness nonbinary character, a full character and not a self insert or y/n (no shade, I love y/n stories too). It was just cool to see a complete OC, and I love that it was all platonic, even if Sundrop did catch a little bit of feelings.
Honestly I relate so much to that, as someone who gains and loses crushes pretty fast. I'm happy it stayed platonic though and Sunny wasn't hurt or stuck pining or something silly. Plus his absolute embarrassment and mortification at his slip up was pretty funny. Might try to draw it, if I have any left over motivation (the bottom of this post sure is interesting hint hint).
Update as I'm editing this about a day later: I can't stop thinking about this fic. It was just so good! I already want to re-read it but I know I should give it at least a little time so I don't burn myself out. This fic was probably the best story I've ever read. Period. Even better than the published books I've read.
Honestly without spoiling any more than I already have, read it. If you like the DCA, read it. If you like cool nonbinary characters and great platonic relationships, read it. If you like a plot that sneaks up on you before hitting you in the feels like a truck, read. It. Do it. It's sososo worth it, I promise you.
If anyone has some good fics to read (completed preferred but actively updated ones work too) PLEASE FEED ME. Now that I'm done with ISYS I am desperate for more DCA fics. I've read so many and I n e e d m o r e.
Bonus fanart to celebrate my completion I guess(?), embarrassed Sun boy!
Tumblr media
I guess I just really like drawing embarrassed boyos. Sorry if it looks weird, I've never drawn a pose like this before :P
Shira if you're reading this, thank you. Your fic was just fantastic. Also thank you for helping me get out of my art block! I had it for the whole month of ArtFight (sadge) but I'm so happy to have some motivation again. Thank you.

—your girlfriend wants to be mine
pairing: Javier Peña x fem!reader
requested by anon!! srry this took forever! a/n: so, i accidentally deleted the request but tried to write most of what I remembered and also took my own spin!
word count: 1.9k
content: cheating, office flirting, narcos spoilers, cursing
summary: you work with Javi and catch feelings, even tho you’re taken
Tumblr media
Life as a DEA agent in Colombia had its ups and downs, mostly its downs, but having Steve and Javi as your partners helped make it tolerable. When you almost wanted to give up, they were there to remind you why you were added onto the chase in the first place.
Your boyfriend, of course, used to offer you emotional support but lately, things haven't been the same. You've gotten so caught up in work, you couldn't catch a break. And it didn't help that he was also a workaholic.
With that being said, you two barely see each other.
You were at the office, overlooking some of the files from last night. Steve said he would stay behind and look at them, but you offered instead because you knew he had Connie and Olivia to get home to.
Javi also offered to stay, and you both ended up pulling an all-nighter or at least an attempted one before you fell asleep three hours in.
You woke up on your desk and immediately got back to work before realizing it was already morning.
"Javi, did we even get anything done?!" you asked exasperatedly.
"Yes, relax, I looked through a few when you fell asleep." he replied nonchalantly as he sipped his morning coffee.
"And you didn't think to wake me up?" you huffed, annoyed.
"I didn't wanna disturb the princessa’s beauty sleep." he smirked.
You rolled your eyes at the nickname, closed the folders, and put them away your bottom cabinet.
"Don't call me that, cabron."
"Woah, wait! I'm the cabron for letting you get some sleep?" he feigned offense.
“Just shut up!” you couldn’t take it if he called you anything else.
Javi just smiled and went back to his desk to look over stuff. The man was completely smitten by you. Not that you knew though, you were oblivious to the coy remarks he’d let slip.
He wasn’t looking to try anything; he knew you had someone else.
But, whenever you got up to do something, you noticed how his eyes always followed you. Or, when you two and Steve were talking, how his arms or hands would brush over yours. How he always opened doors for you and made sure you got home safely.
He cared for you, that was obvious. But you thought of him as good friend and partner.
You had gotten used to the lighthearted flirting between you two. It was all fun and games, nothing serious right?
On second thought, you were starting to feel some sort of internal conflict. At first, you could admit Javi was an attractive guy. It stopped there though; you weren’t interested of course.
With time, not only did you look forward to work because you wanted to catch that fucker, Escobar, you looked forward to seeing him too.
It all felt so wrong, how could you get excited to see another man? No, you had to shut those feelings down. You had to push them away as far as you could.
Even so, you cared deeply about the man you were with. You could not love both.
You didn’t want to think about him like that, he’s your friend and an amazing partner. You should only see him that way. Plus, it’s unfair to your boyfriend and you know Javi’s one to sleep around; it’s how he gets his intel.
When the workday was over, you packed your bag and made sure you left nothing behind on your desk. Steve and Javi were going to check out a lead from a call they had received earlier, Steve suggested you go home this time.
“You sure I shouldn’t come along?” you asked again.
“We’ll be fine, you look like you could use some sleep.” Steve assured you.
“Yeah, take this night off. Busy day tomorrow.” Javi added.
With that, you went home to an empty apartment. It had been a while since you last came home this early. You thought you could probably cook dinner for you guys tonight.
You released a tired sigh as you kicked your boots off and hung your purse. As you were about to walk into the kitchen, you heard a woman laughing along with an inaudible male voice.
You froze in place, trying to figure out if it was actually him or someone else. Her voice sounded too young to be the old lady next door.
The sound was quickly nearing, the footsteps too. Yeah, it was him.
You could hear the jingle of his keys and him trying to get in. You panicked, decided to hide last minute behind the kitchen island. It faced the door sideways; he wouldn’t be able to see you.
“You sure she won’t be home soon? What if she comes in out of nowhere?” the woman spoke.
Her voice sounded familiar, had to be someone from the office of course.
“No, she always works late. Sometimes doesn’t even come home."
You mentally rolled your eyes. So, this is what he does...
What could you have expected, you're always busy with work. How could you focus on this relationship? It was bound to happen but to go find some other woman? Without manning up and ending things with you first?
You stood up furiously and watched as he became aware of your presence.
He didn't even look ashamed, like he had an explanation on hand.
"Do you have nothing to say for yourself? Huh?" you shouted in anger.
"It's not like you're ever here anyway! I got tired of your shit and found myself a real woman." He spat with his hand on the other woman's waist.
You bit your tongue before you could ask what exactly constitutes as a real woman in his eyes because you knew this wasn't about her. It was about this douchebag.
"Well, good for you." you clapped sarcastically.
"Here," you stomped up to him and threw the keys at his face.
"The place is yours and I hope this real woman can pay most of the bills because let's face it, you don't make jack."
He held the other woman closer and sneered at you.
You left knowing his machismo pride was secretly hurt, no way he was making good pay at that corporate job.
You also left without the sadness hitting you, but it did once you hopped into the car and started driving to Steve's place. You knew Connie would let you stay the night; she's that understanding.
You tried to convince yourself it was fine. Things were better this way. There was no time to focus on a boyfriend when you had to a criminal.
Over the course of the next few days, your attitude at work hadn't been the best and Javi could see that.
"Everything alright, chiquita?" he asked with his brow raised.
You shook your head and chuckled at the nickname.
"I'm fine, Javier." you attempted to give a convincing smile.
"No Javi? Okay, seriously, what's wrong?" he asked once again, leaned against his desk with his arms crossed.
"I broke up with Norman, okay?" you sighed.
"I thought I would feel way better than this considering the bastard cheated on me but I kind of mess having someone." you were honest and gave a sad smile this time.
Javi was hollering in his head; no other good news could top this! The man was ecstatic. You were finally a free woman that could be his, if he'd ever be man enough to confess.
"I'm sorry to hear that." he said with an appreciated amount of sincereness.
From that point onward, work had been all over the place with the Medellín cartel making headlines for their attacks once again.
Fortunately, for you guys though, Blackie was caught and brought in for Steve and Javi to interrogate. This lead straight to getting intel on La Quica, and for that there had to be a celebration.
While Javier had offered to go for drinks, the ambassador announced a dinner party to celebrate.
You had to admit, formal gatherings such as those dinners had always made you nervous, especially now since you had no plus one.
You decided to go nonetheless and went dress shopping with Connie. You picked out a nice silk dress and knew you were going to make one hell of a show with it.
You were right, the woman Norman took home that night did work in the office. She was a receptionist so you knew she had to be invited and would probably bring him along.
Even if you convinced yourself, you were done caring about Norman, you still wanted to show him how good you looked. Make him feel regret in some way.
It had reached dusk and the nightlife in Colombia was alive, however you weren't partying at any club tonight. The dinner was being held at some luxury hotel that had taken the Taxi driver way too long to reach.
Security was high of course and you were let in once you showed your office ID.
Chatter was everywhere and you could feel a few stares as you walked into the huge space.
It's a shock you couldn't feel Javi's gaze, how his eyes could not peel themselves off your figure. He thought you looked absolutely ravishing.
You found your way to the bar where the gang was and greeted Connie with a hug and kiss on the cheek before doing the same to Steve and then, Javi.
He was speechless, you were too beautiful.
He leaned into the bar and ordered, "two margaritas, please."
"A la orden, señor!" yes, sir!
He turned back to you and had to stop himself from gawking. Had to play it cool.
"You look gorgeous, as usual." he gave you that smirk.
Your heart fluttered a bit. Now you were free to feel what you felt for Javi all this time, God, he was handsome.
You realized he was actually wearing a suit and not just jeans with a biker jacket. Now, this was a sight to see.
The thought made you giggle and made him wonder what you found to be so funny.
"What're you laughing at? This not cute enough for you?" he furrowed his brows.
You laughed again, "No, you look pretty cute. Pretty sexy actually." you flirted, feeling a sudden wave of boldness.
He let out a chuckle and then the bartender slid the margaritas.
Javi watched as you took a few sips, he took in your form and your perfumed scent. You were only a couple inches apart and both struggling to maintain composure in each other's presence.
Even though he was experienced, it's only so often he falls in love with someone like you.
After one too many drinks, you two conversed and engaged in flirtatious combat for most of the night, never losing eye contact. However, you did once you looked over and meet eyes with your ex.
He was chatting with a group of men and women at a round booth, had his girl on his lap.
You quickly looked back at Javi and grabbed him by the collar. You wanted this; you knew he wanted this too.
You smashed your lips against his and gave him the most beguiling kiss a man could ask for; it was fiery and impatient. You longed for this.
"Fuck, hermosa." he cursed before pressing against you and giving you an even hungrier kiss.
He held you closer by placing a hand on your lower back and the other brushing over your exposed back. You grinned into the kiss and wrapped your arms around his neck.
"Let's get out of here." you said breathlessly.

Teaser Tuesday
I can never make the "snippet sunday" or "wip wednesday" thing work so I'm calling this "teaser tuesday"
How it works: share a bit of your current WIP. This could be a bit from the actual story, or it could be a graphic, or a summary - whatever you want to share, please do.
Here's a bit from what's shaping up to be a 13-chapter piece called Adventure Saturday. It's also looking like it will be rated M which is the highest I've ever written. It won't be explicit, but I think the allusions to sex will be a little too much for a T-rated story.
Chapter 2:
“Yeah, I know,” Alex agrees. “But it got a laugh out of you anyway.” He bumps Henry’s side with his hip. “And you love me,” he adds. Henry nods. He does, wholly and completely. “The lake and the dog beach is just this way,” he nods ahead of them. “Just over 300 metres.” “And what is that in American?” Alex asks. Henry lets out an exasperated sigh. “I don’t know. A football field, perhaps? What would distance be measured in when using American as a system? I can probably approximate it using miles, but I often see Americans using random measurements.”
Chapter 3:
Alex grins and captures Henry’s lips in his once again. “We should get up soon,” he says reluctantly, catching sight of the time, then immediately contradicts this with more kissing and no moves to get out of bed. “Unless today’s adventure is here in bed,” Henry offers. “Nah, I have actual plans for us outside of the house today,” Alex says, and he’s not thrilled with his past self for that decision right now. He knows they’ll enjoy themselves when they’re out, plus the extra plans he put into place last night that require them getting to their destination or risk hurting multiple people. “And we really should get going. Tomorrow we’re staying in, though, and if that includes spending all day in bed, then I’m willing to forgo our usual Sunday chores.” “Willing to forgo chores to spend the day in bed with me?” Henry repeats wryly. “I’m flattered.” He stretches and Alex admires the long, lean lines of Henry’s body.
And that's all you get for today! I have Adventures 1-5 completed and 13 started. No, I do not have 6-12 even started beyond bullet points, but I'm jumping around to follow the muse.

My Six Week Plan!
Sorry this is late, but this week has been rough. It was mostly going okay until the weekend, when everything fell apart. Long story short, my friend had to go to A&E on Saturday (I went with her), and we didn't get out until the next day. I didn't eat or sleep during that time, so my sleep schedule and diet were both ruined. My health issues have been getting consistently worse as well, which obviously isn't helping.
Skin!
This has been getting worse all week. The stress has been pretty detrimental and I haven't been using a skincare routine or the prescribed gel. There's not much I can say except that I'll try to get back into both habits next week (this week?). I've also kept taking the antibiotics, though I haven't noticed them helping any.
Academics!
More of the same. I did manage to get one of my modules assessments in on time (an academic journal), but I had to get an extension for a different one (a laboratory report). It's due tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it, it's a lot of graph work, writing, and other things I really don't have the mental capacity for right now. Luckily it's the last assessment of the module and my mark on it won't matter too much, so I'm trying not to stress over it.
Weight!
This has obviously not gone well. Any weight I managed to lose during the week came right back over the weekend, and it's getting harder to exercise as my health declines. I've managed to stay about 75kg, same as last week, but I think I need to raise my goal since there's only 4 weeks left. Maybe 65kg? I'm also going to replace my morning yoga with a more intense workout.
So yeah, not a good week. On the plus side, I managed to spend some time with friends from my theatre group on Friday night (before things went downhill), and it was amazing. I had such an amazing time with them all; playing videogames, watching movies, drinking, etc. We're planning on doing it again in a few days for someone's birthday and I can't wait. Here's to a better week next week!
See you next week! 🩷

heyheyhey!! someone wish me luck on getting the job I have an interview for tomorrow plsplspls
to convince you to wish me luck I have developed the pros and cons list of what will happen if I do get the job (I am also doing this for myself to really convince myself that I can DO THIS)
pros:
job = money
money = laptop after like two paychecks
laptop after two paychecks = more writing from yours truly (I am typing this while staring at my tv screen bc I use writing as a coping mechanism and located an HDMI cable which is also some of the reason requests have been on the slower end--I have to have my glasses on in order to see on such a big screen. I am typing this sentence while not wearing them to test how bad it is and i have to squint like I'm at the back of the room to see the screen less blurrily)
fixed term contract (seems like a con but stay with me) means I'll only be working like, 10-12 weeks which yeah not so great BUT I get experience and experience means more consistent 9-5 later on, plus if I save money while I work (aside from laptop that is a necessary purchase bc again, if I have to stare at my tv screen for another six months there will be tears and begging while I point desperately at my currently opened commissions) then I can have a bit of a backspace to fall on, yk?? like. if I ever decide I want something when I'm not working or if I need to buy more like?? bodywash?? idk, I don't have to crawl to my dad like "heyheyhey scary 5'8-ish adult man, I will do the dishes, clean the fridge AND the pantry for the low low price of $40 when you also happen to get paid"
will get me out of the house! I am stuck here all except for maybe once or twice in between the pay periods of my parents (they are my rides everywhere and they get paid biweekly so when they go for groceries I'm like HEY LET ME COME I WANNA EXPERIENCE EXTERNAL AIR PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE) and getting to leave the house and work with the people I'll be working with will also significantly reduce my anxiety, which I have to talk to my dr about putting me on meds for bc it has become debilitating.
I ONLY WILL WORK LIKE, 3-4 DAYS A WEEK!! The shifts are SUPER LONG which yeah not great but its a 40 hour week and that money will be good money (which I will put into a savings account that will build interest!!)
MONEYMONEYMONEYHONEYYYYYYY!! It adds up pretty quickly and making a dollar and fifty cents above minimum wage will mean that I'll be getting close to a thousand dollars if they pay me biweekly and close to five hundred if they pay me every week. 500-1000 dollars is a lot of money for a new laptop but also,, also a lot of money for a gym membership plus treats of both the caffeine and the liquor store variety (I will be nineteen in three weeks and feel like weed will be a better experience than alc was. I had fun that night but if I ever cry over not having enough money to order pizza again pls just glare at me)
work experience!! This job is a fixed contract job (I am starting to sound like a broken record with this oops) so it'll be less than half a year but it STILL WORKS!! Plus it'll be a good lesson and help me decide whether or not I want to pursue a career in working in old folks homes and if I can handle doing so for twelve hour days for the rest of my life. It'll be a learning experience that I can add to my resume and help me decide which jobs I'll either look towards or away from once I start looking for a job after the contracts fixed term is completed.
cons bc I am in fact thinking of those
working 3-4 days a week is great, right?? right?? yeah that part is where the goodness of the work schedule will kind of stop off bc yeah, three days on four days off is amazing but I'll be working 7-7. I also unfortunately happen to know myself and I know myself well enough to know that having to go into work at seven in the morning will result in me waking up at half past five in the morning to get ready and drink either an energy drink or three cups of coffee. I also like staying up until midnight so I will be stubbornly running on five hours of sleep lol.
occasionally needing to work weekends isn't that bad but its just--I can be a morning person during the week with an energy drink or three cups of coffee and those things only. On the weekends I sleep in late and I make coffee anyway bc its my routine, but waking up at 5:30 for a weekend shift is going to have me hangry and exhausted by noon.
the only other con that I can think of for this is that the twelve hour shifts could send me into burn out very very quickly. On the one hand I keep telling myself "yeah you'll work 36 hours in three days BUT you'll also have four days to sleep the burn out off and engage in hobbies that make the burn out easier to handle" but on the other I just--I know myself well enough to know that two and a half months of burn out from working twelve hour shifts through to the end of march could have me fully burnt out until the middle of may. I just keep wondering if the fact that I'm gonna be making a dollar fifty above minimum wage for two and a half months is really worth the exhaustion both physically and mentally lol.
