GOD, seeing a Dream Team film adaptation tackle the Dream's Deep sequence would be such a stab to the heart, especially since it would have to also focus on Mario's reactions to Luigi's innermost thoughts

OH GOODNESS. The raw emotion that could be drawn upon from that moment 💗

Here's the thing: the Bros know each other so well. That is the important thing to keep in mind. There is no doubt in my mind that they have seen each other's good and bad sides; held each other through the worst times.

Mario knows that Luigi does have self doubt, lacks some confidence, and is clumsy - but he loves his brother regardless because he knows Luigi wants to work through it, and has so much good in him. The flaws are just a part of what makes Luigi, his other half, his brother.

However, it's one thing to know this about a person, but it's another thing to actually see it.

Dream's Deep is an emotional place for those of us who have witnessed it first-hand; I can only imagine how it would be if they adapted it into movie form:

Mario just taking in everything Luigi is thinking and feeling. His own brother's thoughts swirling around him, everything from his own pep talks to how much he loves Mario.

And Mario can feel everything. He already has a pure spiritual link to his brother...but in Dream's Deep it's like it's all become a part of him. He clasps his hand to his mouth, overwhelmed by everything he is seeing and sensing. His brother is embracing him in his dreams, and Mario just wants nothing more than to finish up as fast as possible so he can hold his brother tight, physically hold him, and never let go.

And after Dream's Deep, while travelling to the next place, Mario catches his brother's eye. Luigi knows how much Dream's Deep affected Mario. What they have both seen and been through there was heavy stuff, and they need to compose themselves and each other.

They stop, and without even saying a word they hug each other so tight, foreheads pressed together. They don't even care who's watching. They need to get this out. They need to tell each other via a loving touch that they are here for each other, no matter what. They're ok. This will never drive them apart. Nothing ever will. ❤️️💚

Luigi knows this hug is mostly for Mario...

It always bothered me that after Dream's Deep, in the game, the Bros never talk about the experience. Not even a hug after....

Unoriginal Writing VS Field Trips

A lot of writers worry that their ideas have been done before or rely too much on existing scenarios. And you absolutely do need to be original if you want to write your own book that you intend to publish professionally. But a lot of writers can also take this the other way and start worrying that every single idea they have, no matter how fleshed out and unique it actually is, is just a version of a very broad and generic trope, and so it’s automatically bad and nobody will ever want to read it since it’s all been done before

Let me tell you about what has been dubbed the Peter Parker Field Trip in the fanfic scene

The Peter Parker Field Trip is an incredibly specific type of one-shot fanfiction about Peter Parker visiting Avengers Tower with his class on a school field trip while having to try and hide his status as the Avenger Spider-Man, usually along with hiding the fact that he’s basically been adopted by the Avengers and they all treat each other as family, if not legally having been adopted by Tony. And this is only the summary, it gets way more specific from here to the point where you can follow each story beat by beat and the vast majority of these fics will follow them:

1. Peter discovers that the adults arranged for him to go on the trip despite trying to get out it/telling them not to sign the permission forms. Peter tries to talk his way out of it on the way but fails. Sometimes the teacher will discourage him from lying about having a Stark Internship while they’re there

2. While they’re on the bus Flash teases Peter about how now everyone’s gonna know he doesn’t actually have a Stark Internship, meanwhile Peter’s freaking out about everyone realising he’s more than just an intern

3. The kids arrive at Avengers Tower and pile out of the bus to be greeted by some of not all of the Avengers, usually with Steve and/or Tony leading the introductions. Peter tries to keep his head down but the Avengers either spot him or were actively looking out for him, but at this point they usually don’t acknowledge him too much

4. An actual intern hands out access passes to the kids, everyone has level one clearance except for Peter who has Level Ten Alpha Clearance™️, which is even higher than most of the other Avengers and is reserved for Tony and those closest to him. Peter asks if he can just get a regular pass like the others but the intern says they don’t have any extras, usually while being starstruck at meeting Peter

5. The kids go through a security scanner, through which Jarvis announces their security clearance. Peter has his Level Ten Alpha Clearance™️ broadcast to the entire class, leaving everyone shocked. Flash thinks Peter, resident Poor Kid McOrphanface, bribed Tony Stark, known billionaire, for higher clearance

6. The tour goes ahead. They meet Bruce either in his lab or the medical bay. Bruce has a pleasant chat with Peter, who quickly helps him with something while he’s there. People are shocked that Peter works with Bruce on science stuff

7. The tour goes ahead. They meet Natasha in the training room. She offers to give a demonstration and has Peter come up to fight her. The class are shocked when he doesn’t get instantly thrown on his ass, even though overall it usually ends with him on his ass

8. The tour goes ahead. They meet Thor either on the landing pad as he arrives back home or he’s in the kitchen making an absolute mountain of pop tarts. He’s the one that comes closest to leaking Peter’s Spider-Man identity because he has no social awareness and just wants to wrap the Man of Spiders in a bear hug

9. The class break for lunch. There’s an ungodly amount of coffee machines in the cafeteria. Everyone is talking about Peter. Flash is talking shit. Clint then proceeds to drop out of the vents to ask Peter about either Mario Kart or babysitting his kids, potentially both. Clint then realises the tour was today, apologises and goes back into the vents. Peter can’t even muster up the energy to be embarrassed

10. As the tour continues, Flash is getting more vocal about his dislike for all this. There’s a 50/50 chance he’s going to get physically violent with Peter. If he doesn’t, he’ll ask Tony Stark why he’s let Peter lie about all this stuff only to be told harshly that Peter is Tony’s kid or something similar. The bullying will be discovered and Flash will be kicked out. If he does get violent with Peter, one of the Avengers will stop him, Tony will defend Peter while revealing that Peter is his kid or something similar in the process, then will kick Flash out

I just described to you an ungodly number of fics beat by beat. And people don’t just read one of them and call it a day; we consume each and every one of them despite knowing the exact plot and having read it a gazillion times

And I think that these fics are the most obvious example of the fact that people don’t care about the repeated use of tropes or clichés or plotlines; if they like it, they’ll like it. They’ll be willing to read those tropes a million times over, even if they know what’ll happen at every turn. And that proves that it’s not the use of tropes that matters, it’s the way you use the tropes. Even if it’s just a new way of wording it, people will enjoy it. It doesn’t have to be completely new or original, it just has to be out there

Peach giggled into the back of her glove. “The poor thing. He must be starving!”

“Oh, Mario doesn’t starve, Princess,” Luigi promised, scanning over his brother’s lengthy written rant once more. “He’ll eat anything! He’ll just act real grumpy the whole time if he doesn’t like it, like this.”

He folded the letter briefly to offer a demonstration of Mario’s Bad Food Face: arms crossed, eyebrows scrunched, lips set in a sulking pout. He mimed bringing a fork to his mouth and chewing with that unwavering expression, and Peach giggled again.

“Then at the very least, we know to prepare a feast for him once he returns.”

“He’s already counting on it! Mentions it at the very end.” Luigi shook out the letter once more, skimmed past the extensive complaints, and continued translating: 

“I can’t say for sure yet, but it should only be another week or two before this is all wrapped up in a big, pretty bow. I’ll let you know if that changes. Otherwise, let’s have all the pasta our bellies can stand in a week or two’s time! Hugs, kisses, and one more big hug, Mario.”

Luigi smoothed the creases in the paper with his thumbs and handed it to Peach. She admired the handwriting, and with her index finger she traced the indents his pen had left in the paper. “He writes differently in different languages,” she noted. “His penmanship is much more relaxed here. When he writes to me, each word looks careful and neat.”

“Well, you’re really the only other person he writes to, you know.”

“Ah! That might explain it.” Peach smiled down at the paper in her hands. “His letters to me are the only time he actually writes in the common tongue, then! No wonder he spends so much time getting the penmanship perfect.”

“Mmhm,” Luigi nodded, and he couldn’t help but tap his foot arrhythmically beneath the small table they shared. She almost got it. Almost. He thought to give her a nudge in the right direction, maybe reveal all the hours Mario spent hunched over his work bench forcing his hand to produce dainty curves and elegant lines because I write like a Conkdor with its head chopped off and a pen taped to its foot! That’s not good enough for a princess, Weegee!...

But something in Peach’s face made him take pause. She still smiled softly, but her eyes were unfocused, even as she continued observing the letter.

“Does it ever… get any easier?” She twirled a lock of hair around her finger absently as she spoke. “Is there ever a point where you don’t… you don’t worry for him so much that it makes you feel sick?”

Luigi’s throat felt suddenly tight. Worried. He thought he had recognized that look. He saw it on Mario’s face every so often, the tight smile and hazy eyes that told Luigi he needed a listening ear and a heaping helping of homemade spaghetti. It looked much more foreign on the princess’ face.

He knew she worried for his safety when he was gone. Did it keep her awake at night, he wondered, just as Mario would sometimes spend all night staring at the ceiling and praying for her wellbeing?

Before he could think up a reassuring answer, he blurted out an entirely inappropriate question, the very question he would present to Mario in the same situation: “Need a hug?”

Peach blinked up from the paper in her hand. Luigi was the sort who would squirm and shudder and run away as fast as his legs could carry him if anyone except Mario tried to touch him. She was just as surprised by his offer as he was. But before he could apologize and take it back and explain his slip-up—

“I’d greatly appreciate that, actually.”

Luigi gulped. Well… a friend in need and all of that, right?

He stood from his seat, and she followed suit. He held his arms out to either side of his body. What next? Was he supposed to step forward? Pull her in? That didn’t feel right. Mercifully, she closed their distance before he could make a wrong move.

She reached her arms beneath his and placed her small hands on his back, drawing closer and resting her cheek against the side of his head. She wasn’t much taller than him, maybe a few inches, but he suddenly felt tiny in comparison. A whole person and all of her fears, contained right here in his arms. It was almost too much.

Hesitantly, he returned her embrace, patting her back softly. He fixed his eyes on a distant shrub so he had something to focus on other than the overwhelming smell of strawberries encompassing him, and that at least helped him find his words better. “Mario’s… kinda like a cat,” he offered, eventually. “He keeps running off and getting pulled into who-knows-what, but in the end he always comes back home. You never really stop worrying for him. But you do get used to it. You realize he can take care of himself and you welcome him when he comes back and that’s really all there is to it, you know?”

Peach nodded. Her hair tickled Luigi’s face, fine and smooth. He wanted to sneeze.

He was relieved when she pulled away, taking a deep breath of clean air, but she still had that look, and that needed to change. He stepped forward again and placed his hands on her shoulders. More comfortable, still physical, maybe helpful? He hoped it was helpful. “Loving Mario feels like a full-time job sometimes,” he joked, “but I wouldn’t worry yourself sick. Nothing could stop him from coming back home.”

Color rose into Peach’s cheeks — oh, she was definitely hung up on “loving Mario,” that was rich — and finally, she graced him with a sincere, full-hearted smile. “Thank you, Luigi,” she said, and he squeezed her shoulders in response.

Tension that he hadn’t realized he’d been holding in his body released when he sat back down, and he melted into his chair. That was enough physical contact for one day, or maybe a week or six.

“Perhaps we can discuss the details of his Welcome Home feast,” Peach suggested, grinning playfully as she held Mario’s letter out to him. Luigi grinned right back. He certainly preferred to see the princess in good spirits.

“Or maybe we should have something good for dinner ourselves.” He took the letter and held it to his chest with all the mock-sadness he could muster. “In his honor.”

“You’re right. It’s what he would want for both of us.”

“We should have all of his favorites, to celebrate his selflessness.”

“He’s going to hate us.”

“Worth it.”

Peach laughed as she rose once more and ushered for Luigi to follow her, presumably to the palace kitchens. He carefully tucked Mario’s letter back into his pocket and followed after her.

Now, originally I had thought to keep it to more obscure games, or at least games that aren't talked about as much, like Super Mario 3d world. But I'm very stressed and exhausted at the moment, and I'm indulging with one of my favourite Mario games, so perhaps....

Overly Analyzing Luigi's Mansion 3; Mario Rescue cutscene

So, in order to rescue Mario, the player has to defeat the hotel owner, Hellen Gravely in her office. Each boss ghost has their own unique animation before being sucked into the Poltergust G-00, and hers is to demand Luigi pause long enough for her to apply her make up. Queen moment, if I'm to be honest.

Luigi also has a celebration animation after he defeats ghosts and bosses, and here he tosses his hat off in celebration. It's such a cute moment; he's been constantly terrified in this haunted hotel, but he's so proud of himself for conquering this particularly scary obstacle!

Now, the main reason I'm looking at this scene today. Luigi uses the Dark-Light feature of the Poltergust to rescue Mario from the portrait he was trapped in. Said portrait was hanging up in Hellen's office, and she used it to taunt Luigi to come fight her to save his brother, I should add.

Mario falls from the painting and is seemingly dazed and confused at first. Unlike in the first game, the portraits here are frozen, unmoving images, so it takes Mario a moment of checking out his body and arms to realize he's free.

The second he looks up at Luigi, though, he instantly lights up. I recommend you check out the scene for yourself, because the way he bounces up and stretches his arms out as he goes "OH YEAH!" is so cute and expressive. They really outdid themselves with the cutscenes in this game.

Mario runs over to Luigi, exclaiming "Way to go, Luigi!" and his joyful energy is immediately returned by Luigi. Luigi spreads his arm, happily exclaiming "Mario!" while Mario jumps into his arms and just. Look at them.

Look at them.

I can't even begin to describe how happy this makes me. Mario jumping right into Luigi's arms like it's so natural and common for them to do, Luigi's leg lifting up as he catches Mario, Luigi holding Mario up for a split second, Luigi's loud "MARIO, hey bro!" it's so tender and wholesome. This is the kinda sibling energy I wanna see with them!

There's so much display and affection and trust on display here in just a few seconds of animation. And there's just something about Luigi being the one to do the hug lifting that's just, so cute. Chefs kiss, no notes, perfect scene.

Luigi sets Mario back down on his feet, and I love that this shot allows us to see Mario's perspective. While this is overall a very joyful and upbeat scene, I think it's nice to also show Mario getting some much needed comfort after his third time being rescued from a portrait in the Luigi's Mansion series, poor guy.

Very briefly, before they step back, Luigi is also shown patting Mario's back with his hand. Again, even though Luigi has navigated this hotel scared out of his mind, the fact that he's shown to be consciously giving his brother some show of comfort is adorable.

Luigi steps back and they both laugh, Mario placing his hand on Luigi's shoulder. They're both equally happy to be reunited! Smaller note, but Luigi appears to be ever so slightly bending his knees, probably to be closer to Mario. Yes the height difference between them really isn't that noticeable, but I'll take what I can get, okay?

For a second, the scene lingers as they simply stare at each other in relief. Then Luigi seems to snap back to it, having a small "wait a minute-" moment as he looks at the camera.

Immediately, Mario's smile drops too, and his hand drops off Luigi's shoulder as he straightens up. You can tell Luigi kinda forget where they were for a moment, probably because of how relieved he was to see Mario again, and now he's remembering that oh yeah, they're kinda stuck in a haunted hotel with a giant Boo that specifically has it out for them.

Luigi grabs Mario by the shoulder and exclaims, "Come on! This way!" clearly referring to Professor E Gadd's lab.

A bit of context for those who haven't played the game; before rescuing Mario, the player rescues the three Toads who also accompanied them on the vacation trip to the hotel, and every time Luigi escorts them to the elevator so they can stay in E Gadd's lab, safe and sound from the ghosts. So we can infer Luigi's immediate thought was to also get Mario there, so he wouldn't be in danger anymore :'3

He keeps his arm on Mario's shoulder, and grabs his other hand to literally start leading him in the direction of the elevator. Which is just.... so precious. Literally "I just got you back and you are not leaving my side until I know you're safe" energy. They care so much about each other guys. I love protective big bro Mario with all my heart, but protective Luigi fretting and worrying over Mario's wellbeing is so special too.

However, unlike the Toads who were more than happy to stay in the safer lab, Mario has other plans.

While wiggling out of Luigi's gripe, Mario corrects him with "Ah ah, ah ah, this way!" and pulls him back into the office. Luigi's confused, and his hand reflexively almost reaches for the Poltergust since they're heading back in the direct of danger (or it could just be his arm swinging back from Mario's pull, but again, over analyzing.)

The camera pans over to reveal the wall with the portrait Mario was trapped in on it.

Mario turns back to Luigi, clearly gung-ho and ready to go. We don't see much of Luigi's face, but I like to think he had an "oh no, not this again-" expression, because he knows exactly what Mario is about to do.

Mario gestures over his shoulder with a "Come on!" and takes off, leaving Luigi to startle and raise his hand. Here we get their classic dynamic; Mario, head strong and determined, running recklessly right into the action, and Luigi, timid and cautious, taking a moment to really sit and think about the situation.

Mario throws himself at the sliding wall and pushes it aside, demonstrating some serious physical strength. That's a pretty thick wall, with a portrait and tv screen on it to boot, but he manages to throw it open fairly easy.

Once past that, we see Mario stumble a bit from the momentum of pushing the wall. He immediately sets himself upright, gesturing again for Luigi to "Come on!" without much of a pause. Again, so much character on display here; Mario is flinging himself right into the action, and while he isn't particularly clumsy, he's practically stumbling from how fast he's pushing himself.

You can read this as that's simply in Mario's heroic nature - to run right into danger without so much as a second thought - but you can also read it as him being ecstatic to be out of that portrait. Even though he knows at this point that King Boo is waiting for them and Princess Peach still needs saving, he's still smiling and urging Luigi to follow him, like they're on an adventure. This is much more his speed, as opposed to being the one needing a rescue.

So Mario opens the door, not bothering to actually wait for Luigi, and continues on ahead. I read it as a bit of his impulsiveness with charging ahead, and also as trust that Luigi will follow him anywhere - albeit at his own pace.

For a split second, Luigi hesitates with a confuse "Mario?". Even though he knows his brother, he probably wasn't expecting Mario to bounce back so quickly. But hey, if his brother is still willing to forge on ahead even though he just escaped a trapped portrait, Luigi can't hold himself back either, can he?

He grabs his flashlight and exclaims a energized "Okay!". Again, keep in mind that this whole game, Luigi has been terrified out of his wits and scared of every obstacle in his way. But now having his brother back has him grinning and ready to face the challenges up ahead. The way they inspire courage in each other can actually be so personal-

Even though Luigi's Mansion 3 came out first, and the two don't really have a lot of connections outside of being based on the same property, I can't help but connect the new movie's "Nothing can hurt us, as long as we're together!" theme to this scene here.

Such a good scene, great animation and personality on display. Literally my only complaint is that I want more of well thought out cutscenes in Super Mario games in general.

Oh, and more bro hugs. Definitely more bro hugs.

sunlight seeps through your windows, casting the room in a gentle golden glow when you stir awake. you lazily roll onto your side, letting out a small disappointed sigh at the sight of an empty bed beside you. jay had made a habit of cooking breakfast for you whenever he woke up before you. 

the first time it happened he had made a surprise visit in the middle of the night after the first set of tour dates. he spent the night sleeping soundly next to you until his boredom and hunger became too much to bear. when you dragged yourself out of bed and he saw your smile at the smell of a freshly cooked meal, he made a silent promise to himself: he would do anything to make you smile.

jake’s bed is also empty on the other side of the room when you sit up, leaving the safety of your bed in favor of searching for your beloved boyfriend. finding him is easy enough. niki and sunghoon are sitting beside each other on the couch as they cue up another round of mario kart when you pass them. sunoo is curled up on the loveseat, forcefully blinking every now and then to keep himself awake. jungwon and heeseung are laughing together on the back porch, waving to you through the sliding glass door when you walk by. jay is in the kitchen, leaning over a pan of eggs with his back to you. 

you smile as you walk up behind him to gently pull him towards your chest into a back hug. he jumps a little at the sudden feeling before he relaxes, chuckling. you lean forwards to rest your forehead against his shoulder blades and close your eyes to fully enjoy the moment. 

jay reaches up to take your hand into his, gently squeezing it. “good morning love.” he chuckles. 

“morning,” you hum. the words are muffled against his shirt. 

you don’t move from your spot - even as jay turns the stove off. “i need to move, honey,” he says. you only tighten your grip around his waist to keep him still where he is. his body heat is a nice replacement for the warmth of the blankets you crawled out of not long ago. 

the door opens and heeseung and jungwon re-enter the dorm. “isn’t it a little early for this?” heeseung asks, walking over to the cabinet. he reaches up, taking out eight sets of plates and handing them off to jungwon to set at the table. 

you pull away from jay just enough to look at heeseung. “for what?” 

his answer is interrupted by a groan from sunghoon and niki whining. “they’re doing it again?”

“doing what?” jay asks. 

“being all cuddly,” jungwon chuckles. you stifle a small laugh of your own as you finally let go of jay. he takes the pan off of the stove, sliding two freshly-made eggs onto a plate jungwon holds out for him. 

jay’s ears and neck are tinted a light pink - evidence of how flustered he’s becoming. “are you blushing?” 

he looks away as he turns back to the stove in a poor attempt to hide his blush. “no.” you simply step closer to see him better, tugging him back so you can see his face. 

“you’re blushing!” jay sighs, mentally preparing himself for the onslaught of teasing he’s sure will come. you laugh as you pull him into a hug. he takes the opportunity to hide his face into your neck. “it’s cute.” you lean forwards to press a quick peck against his lips when you pull away, tugging him towards the dining room with you. “now come on, let’s go eat. breakfast smells good.”

Why do I feel like Lumalee's gonna tell Luigi about him seeing Luigi's scars on his arms earlier in the Act (when he wore the Doctor patch after Luigi gives his backstory)? I feel like Lumalee will open up to Luigi if this is the case. At any case, THANK GOODNESS Lumalee came in on time. Poor Lumalee and Luigi, they need hugs and therapy very badly. PLEASE come soon Mario!

That’s the logical way the rest of the scene would go. Imagine the shame or embarrassment Luigi would have though. Luigi, as you can see, is VERY good at hiding his true emotions and does NOT like to cry in front of anyone. Only Lumalee can spot the bullshit. Which means…

Lumalee is the only character you know the least about 👀

And would it truly be a good idea for Lumalee to open up to Luigi, who got UPSET at Lumalee for doing the same thing earlier?

Summary- after attending Princess peaches party you catch the eye of a certain Koopa king

After being invited to the famous princess peaches party , you were pretty excited but at the same time you were kinda bummed out, after all, you were the only one without a plus one or any certificate other to bring but now is not the time to realize how lonely you are, it's time to get ready for the biggest party of the year.

After arriving at mushroom kingdom you were greeted with a smile and a hug by Princess peach “y/n long time no see, it's great to see you again” “aw thanks it's great to see you too”

after talking to peach for a while she asks “so you meet anyone me special,” she asks with hope you sigh with disappointment “sadly no we just have to hope that I find someone at the ball tonight” “but y/n you say this every year for the past 6 years” “well I guess I never met the right one yet” peach sighs but changes the subject “well we better get going don't want to be late” peach says while dragging you to the care

Arriving at the party and stepping out of the car many cameras were flashing and screams of joy seeing the famous y/n and princess peach “we better hurry unless you want a mob to be here surrounding us” peach says with a chuckle .hurrying in your look with wonder after coming to the same party every year it still surprises you how amazing the place is “peach” you look over to see Mario, peaches “plus one” “y/n it's great to see you again” “you too Mario” after greeting you friends you decide to get a look around

*this place always gets better every year doesn't it* you thought while walking around. After walking around you decided you wanted something to drink but not realizing that someone would enter the party unexpectedly.

People can be heard whispering and staring, some were even terrified of the person who unexpectedly arrived. You turn to see what the ruckus is all about, you turn to see the one only bowser the king of the koopas. After hearing all the things peaches have told you about this browser you weren't understanding why people were afraid of him in the first place he just looks like an oversized dinosaur, you shrug as you begin to drink your punch and watch with an amusing look as you see people trying to keep clear of this “terrifying” king

After a while, you begin to get bored when you see people just dancing and talking about things you don't care about and a couple of people asking you to dance or just talk and their kingdom or about yours *I only came for the food and drinks and to see my friends, that are nowhere to be seen great* you sigh with boredom, you begin walking not paying attention to who you were walking towards to

You bump into someone with a quick apology you stop in mid-sentence “am so sorry I didn't mean to bump into you I wasn't paying attention-” you look up to see the only king browser *great* you thought with regret

After being bumped into he was about to yell at the poor soul who did but stopped In mid track just to see beauty in front of him his heart begin to go faster as his face flushed

After talking to him for a long time you realized that it's getting late and you begin to feel tired “bowser it was amazing talking to you and getting to know you and I would love to see you again but I must go it's getting really late and I must go home now” you say with disappointed but you don't know why you just met the guy and you feel like you knew him for your whole life “of course y/n it was wonderful getting to know you let's hope we meet again” bowser says softly as he watches her look up at him with those beautiful eyes and the way she looks, he feels like his heart skip a beat as she smiles up at him just then she hugs him with no warning than with a smile she begins to walk away waving goodbye his face heats up his heart starts beating two times as fast as before as he wishes that she didn't leave

Your face begins to heat up in embarrassment, your heart beating faster than usual head is spinning you can't get him out of your head the way he laughs or talks God what is happening to you but the only thing you know is that this won't be the last time you meet the terrifying king bowser

If Peach and Luigi did remember being possessed, then they would feel so very guilty. I can see them apologizing as often as they can with both of them having tears welling in their eyes.

I could see Peach folding her hands and bowing to Mario apologizing profusely hardly able to run her kingdom due to her guilt that she hurt Mario even slightly,

I can also see Luigi an absolute wreck. Mr L brought out so much negative emotions towards his big brother that he feels disgusted he felt them at all. He feels so weak and fragile, his anxiety is through the roof. He probably would avoid Mario or try to.

And poor Mario, he doesn’t blame, absolutely not. How could he? He knows it wasn’t their fault. But seeing them in pain hurts him more then what they did to him when they’d been possessed. He’d probably take Peach out of the castle somewhere peaceful and let her say her peace, letting her initiate the hug.

Whereas with Luigi, he’d seek him out and be the one to hug him outright. Luigi is his little brother and he’s hurting and he needs him.

Saw your 'Mario has PTSD too' post and I love it. The idea of him trying to pretend that everything is fine for Luigi is just so... augh. I love this trope of a character botteling up their feelings for the sake of others until they can't anymore. May I add a little something? Mario also had a near death experience from getting exploded from the rainbow road and then being eaten by an eel. So I guess he would have PTSD from this too

Thanks!! It really gets to me too. I just think Mario is very much wrapped up in being The Strong One, The One Who Protects And Makes Things All Right and Can Be Leaned On, and he WANTS to be that post-movie more than anything because goodness knows Luigi needs it (not even just from a mental perspective, but physical too, considering the poor thing hardly slept or got any food/water for what seemed like multiple days!) but there's also his own exhaustion and the dawning realization of how close things were, how his brother could have very easily died if one little thing happened differently, and the guilt, so much GUILT for essentially being the reason all this happened - it's a lot!! And then the guilt would compound once he starts to slip and knows that Luigi can probably tell, and he doesn't want to make him MORE worried when his little brother's already going through his own struggles, so that just makes him try HARDER to seem Totally Normal and Fine and In Control, and it's not a good cycle. :( (But it doesn't take too long before the inevitable breakdown and the brothers getting to cry it out together. Sometimes you just need to do some messy crying and hugging to feel better!!!!)

And yeah, I think that makes sense! Mario didn't have a cakewalk of a time either, that's for sure, even if there were some nice/peaceful moments in his journey. I saw in one fic someone theorize that maybe loud sounds would instantly make him shift into danger mode and being really on edge because of the blue shell for a little while, and I think that makes sense. And man, the eel stuff really does get more disturbing the more you think about it!! DK and Mario sniping at each other is funny, but I still really wish that scene had been given a little more room to breathe and resonate as a stronger, sadder Darkest Moment in the movie. Especially the line "at least your brother's not gonna die because of you!" which is heavy stuff, man! Mario's clearly angry and upset and feels like the situation is all his fault and he's never going to see Luigi again (heck, he'll never see the rest of his family or his home again either) and he tried so hard but he's finally reached a truly hopeless state where he just wants to wallow in how he's let everyone down and be left alone, which is rare for him. It's a brief moment, but a rough one for sure.

(And maybe once it's all over, he closes his eyes and sometimes still sees himself there, wet and cold and broken down, and there's a moment of blind panic where he's convinced he's imagined everything that happened past that point and he's about to be digested and die down here at the bottom of the ocean, with the horrible certainty that Luigi's dead too, that his brother died alone and scared all because of his stupidity, and he can't breathe, he can't BREATHE - and then he wakes up/comes back to the moment and it's all okay, he knows rationally that it's okay now but he still can't fully calm down because what if NEXT TIME.....)

mario kart is one of the go-to games you guys play when you visit the lair

you both love playing games together and having fun with just the two of you

and he REALLY loves it

but his heart thumps against his plastron when you ask if he wants to play with his family (brothers, splinter, & april)

in fact, his brothers convince him to bet his pizza on some races because they know he'll lose

he's always eager for another round though because he's confident he'll win

but he has his hopes crushed every time, poor boy

because, even if he was the best player in the world, he would purposefully throw his lead down the toilet if it meant seeing everyone happy

if you're struggling to catch up/win he'll sabotage his brothers on PURPOSE so that you can win

loves seeing you cheer triumphantly and do a lil victory dance (it's funny to see his brothers groan in defeat too)

he talks a LOT of trash when he's racing

purposefully aggravates you to rile you up because he loves to tease you

he's actually pretty good at mario kart; evenly matched with you for almost every round you play.

when he's a winner, he wants a prize

he possesses that same level of cockiness with his brothers too

i hate to say it, but .. donnie is the mario kart master

everybody dreads playing with him because he IS unbeatable

he knows all of the map shortcuts

if there's cheats for mario kart? he knows them too

is a master even in 200 CC

so he opts out of playing sometimes just because he doesn't have much of a challenge playing with his brothers

UNTIL he plays with you

then he gets riled up about mario kart all over again

he's almost just as cocky as leo is

smirks at you when he's the champion, cause he too wants a prize-

probably not one as intimate as leo's prize even if you're a couple; more than likely makes you test out his new tech or be his lab assistant for a LONG TIME

or he might use it as an excuse to ask you to cuddle with him

OR be his partner-in-crime for prank wars

which get pretty chaotic between the brothers

"wow, look at that. i've won, once again.-"

he'll say it in the most monotone, unbothered voice ever

IT MAKES LEO LIVID

"you could at least pretend to be excited."

if you're not as skilled in mario kart, i'm sure he'd teach you some tricks and tell you how to improve (just because he likes you)

but if there's a day you beat him, he'll just play off his defeat with a sarcastic "it's about time." line

but his eyes show just how proud he is of you

with mikey, it's 50/50

he's either winning in another league entirely or doing worse than raph (which everyone deems is really bad)

loves it when you play with him though!

not a big trash-talker when you both play, but he does like to tease you. he can be competitive, but not as much as his brothers

mainly because he's a lil softie and wouldn't wanna hurt your feelings for any reason

though he'll match whatever energy you're giving

so if you're really hyped up, so is he!

if you're both playing with his brothers, he gets more riled up by them

"TAKE THAT, LOSERS !!"

turns his head to look at you with puppy eyes

"not you, sweetie."

wants to impress you by winning, so if he doesn't, he'll definitely pout a little

so you cheer him up by telling him he's your favorite turtle and that you love him

grins like the biggest dork and will pull you into the tightest hug ever

bonus: you make him a "Mikey's #1" poster when he does anything and you bring it to a Mario Kart game sesh to watch him play with the bros

makes him the happiest turtle alive and gets him hyped up to win just for you

Yoongi looks on as Jungkook pushes against Y/n, the two locked in an intense mario kart game that will determine who gets to challenge Seokjin in the finale. He doesn’t know how this even happened. One minute, Hoseok was talking about meeting someone new who needed support and the next there was a new person being invited to their weekly game nights.

Which started because Yoongi was too damn shy to answer the silent question Jungkook asked when talking about going to a gaming cafe together. 

Yoongi knew that Jungkook was trying to ask Yoongi on a date, but Yoongi couldn’t cross that boundary. It was too big, a large insurmountable mountain that Yoongi was content looking up at and imagining a life where he was on the top. So instead Yoongi excitedly said yes and talked about inviting Taehyung and Seokjin who were also big gamers. 

The next day Jieun and Hoseok feigned upset at not being invited and another game night was planned at Jieun’s place. 

And in turn Namjoon and Jimin decided that they needed to be invited too and all the sudden it was a regular thing and people brought all different types of games to play. Some nights, ten people jammed into Jieun’s apartment all crowded around different games and talking philosophy. 

Now it was eleven people who are always invited to the game nights. Jungkook decided that for Y/n, he saw their gloomy exterior break into a smile once and decided that there would be a friendship and that Y/n was his child. It totally didn’t make Yoongi fall in love with Jungkook just a bit more. 

Nor did Jungkook sitting them down after he pulled them into a welcoming hug to talk about how competitive everyone here was and how sometimes they could get rough. It was a little silly to see him lecture Y/n on boundary settings and ask what they were comfortable with after he just hugged them without asking, but that just made Yoongi like him more, as a friend. Jungkook had done that to Yoongi after he’d pushed the poor man away during the hug. Soon after, Yoongi found himself never getting any affection unless he initiated it. It was a barrier that Yoongi didn’t know how to feel about. 

Tonight, Yoongi didn’t have energy or drive to compete in games and found himself sitting on the couch with Namjoon and Minseo (Namjoon’s current boyfriend). They were talking about the state of the world and how they navigate the grueling capitalistic system. 

Truly the perfect (worst) conversation to have to unwind after a day in said grueling capitalistic system. Especially as the two canoodled in between points and kissed each other when they said something “prophetic” or smart. It felt nice to be a third wheel, to be reminded in such an explicit and visible way that he was not in a relationship and could not get the same things. 

Yoongi needed it.
