I've never seen a lot of people post about one of my personal fav wolfstar headcanons is how Sirius is a very, very gay man, who is quite literally almost every girl's 'decoy boyfriend'. They would pull him to their side to scare off other men and he'll play his part very, and I mean VERY well. That's what lead to people thinking of him as a womanizer, when he's actually having gay panics over his furry best friend every five seconds. Seven on a good day.

Wolfstar microfic: Not that way
@wolfstarmicrofic
Jan 2nd, 2025, prompt: first break up
word count: 645
*set fourth year*
Sirius took a deep breath, screwing his courage in place. He walked into the great hall and instantly spotted Marlene, his girlfriend. Determinedly balling his hands into fists, he made his way toward her.
"Hey, Marlene." He tried not to sound nervous.
"Sirius! Hey, do you wanna go to Hogsmead together this weekend? It could be our first official date." Sirius tried not to wince.
"Er, could we take a walk?" Sirius asked, desperately trying to change the subject.
"Um, alright!" Marlene smiled at him and sirius felt guilt gnawing at his chest.
Sirius walked in silence, arm in arm with Marlene. He'd known he would have to do this, since the moment she asked him to be her boyfriend last week after a quidditch game and he said yes. He didn't know why he'd agreed, he'd known he didn't like her like that, couldnt like her like that. Couldnt, not when he was pretty sure he liked someone else that way. A certain hazle-eyed werewolf roommate of his, to be exact. But for a moment…
"So, about that date…" Marlene said, trailing off. Sirius knew he couldnt delay it any longer, but he wanted two. He'd never done this before, broken up with a girl. He slowed to a stop under a tree, the grounds empty save for them.
"I can't," Her eyes narrowed and he saw a retort forming on her lips but he cut her off, "Marlene, we have to break up." There, he'd said it. Her eyes went wide and she stared at him, obviously shocked.
"What? Why?" Sirius sighed. He knew he didn't have to tell her, but he found that he wanted to. Besides, he at least owed her the truth after leading her on for this long.
"I'm gay." It was the first time he'd said it aloud, and it felt surprisingly good—nerve-wracking, but good. Marlene blinked at him.
"How- how long have you known?" His voice was soft, quiet from disbelief.
"A while, I think." Sirius winced. It had been a while, he'd realized it in his second year, back when he realized that he felt differently about Remus than his other friends.
"Then why…" Marlene asked, voice breaking just a little.
"I don't know. You asked, and for a moment I thought, maybe… But I couldnt. "
"Oh." She said, sinking to sit against the tree.
"Yeah," He agreed softly, sitting beside her. She moved closer to him, grabbing his arm and leaning her head on his shoulder.
"It's ok, you know." She said without looking at him.
"What?"
"You being gay, it's ok." She looked up at him then, blue eyes full of certainty and he felt his heart break just a little.
"I-I know." And he did. It had taken him a while to accept that, maybe until that moment, but he knew.
"Y'know, I don't think I ever liked you in that way. It's like you said, for a moment I thought I could but…" She trailed off.
"I get it," SIrius said, and he did.
"You going to Hogsmeade with Marlene then?" James asked as soon as sirius walked into the dorm.
"No. We, uh, we broke up."
"What, why?!" James exclaimed, and sirius couldnt help but notice that Remus had also looked up from his book and was staring at him.
"I just didn't like her that way." Sirius shrugged, looking at his feet.
"Oh." James frowned, but Sirius wasn't paying attention. He looked hesitantly in Remus's direction only to find the boy already looking at him. They both blushed, looking sheepishly at the floor. Sirius looked back, finding Remus's cheeks still adorably pink and grinned. Yes, he was quite sure that he had made the right decision breaking up with Marlene After all, he was pretty certain that he did like Remus that way, the way he had never liked Marlene.

Influencer!Sirius - Part 3 - 379 words
“I just realised,” Sirius took the liberty of ignoring Remus’ annoyed grunt. “Posting this video fucks up my entire idea of a posting schedule.”
Remus sighed. “We have had this conversation before.” His wrists rested on Sirius’ shins, their warmth sinking through.
“No?” said Sirius, confused.
Remus is silent, his eyes glued to his screen again. Sirius thinks about it, had they?
“We have!” he realised. “Oh, it’s Sunday! That means I can start tomorrow by posting the video about you lot. I completely forgot. Honestly, don’t know what I’d do without you, Moons.”
Remus’ only reaction was “die”. Sirius can’t figure out whether that is an answer to the question, or just an insult.
He wiggles his legs, looking with a grin how Remus’ phone shakes, making it impossible for him to read. “You’re boring. I need entertainment,” declared Sirius dramatically.
“I have been entertaining you all bloody day. I’m only sitting here because you get all pouty when I go to my room early in the evening. But if you won’t leave me alone, I will go to my bedroom.” One could interpret this as angry, but Sirius knew better. They had visited Lily and Harry that day, to be surprised by the presence of Mary, Marlene, Dorcas and Pandora. All fawning over the little boy. Remus liked all his friends, but a day full of social interactions left him socially drained. Meaning Sirius really was lucky Remus was spending his much needed alone time with him.
“All right, I will shut up.” Sirius managed three seconds of silence. “My legs okay there though? I can give you some room if you’d like?” Sirius knew Remus cherished his personal space.
A soft pad on his leg was his answer. “It’s alright, Pads. And you can watch tv, I don’t mind.”
Sirius smiled while he tried to ignore the rush Remus’ hand on his leg caused in his blood. It was nothing, just two friends, two roommates, relaxing together.
He started the first Disney movie he could find, Belle and the Beast. It was a classic, and the misunderstood Beast always made him think of Moony.
He sat down and comfortably watched, still ignoring Remus’ hand, which was now mindlessly rubbing soothing circles on his sweatpants clad leg.

Wolfstar Microfic Prompt 4 - Monsters
TW: Bigoted legislation and 1970s homophobia mentions
Words: 619
@wolfstarmicrofic
***
Addendum to Monstrous Creatures Act 1975
All registered Werewolves are no longer permitted to join in matrimony with any person or creature effective from 01/01/1977.
“You read the Prophet?” James asked Sirius quietly, despite casting a muffliato on the bathroom. Nobody quite knew how sensitive Remus’ ears were, especially so close to the moon. Sirius nodded, “Has Remus?”
Sirius chanced a look over at where Remus was reading on his bed. “Dunno. Maybe not, he doesn’t seem…”
“We can’t let him see it,” James whispered.
“I’d like to see you try and stop him from reading something. The last time I tried that I ended up on my arse at the bottom of the stairs.” Sirius glanced over at Remus again, “He’s going to find out at some point anyway.”
“I know, but,” James sighed, “It’s going to hurt him so much.”
“He has us, and the girls, and your family,” Sirius rolled his eyes as James shot him a pointed look, “Our family. He’s not alone. Whenever he does find out, we all have to rally around him.”
“Yeah, we can do that.” James shook his head. “He’s going to pretend it doesn’t bother him, isn’t he?”
“You mean like how he pretended it didn’t bother him when he had that crush on Mary.” James groaned internally. When Sirius and Mary dated for a few weeks before the summer holidays, Remus became very quiet and withdrawn. They’d never spoken about it and James didn’t have the heart to tell Sirius that he was pretty sure it wasn’t Mary that Remus had feelings for.
“Something like that.” James shook his head.
“Are you done gossiping about whoever Sirius’ girl of the week is?” Remus asked loudly. “It’s almost dinnertime. I’m fucking starving.” James and Sirius looked at each other before stepping out of the bathroom. “You alright?”
“Yeah, fine.” Sirius shrugged.
Remus narrowed his eyes at them, “You’re a shit liar. Luckily, my hunger takes precedence over my curiosity about whatever your little mothers’ meeting was about. Let’s go.”
“Moony,” James said slowly. “You read it, didn’t you?”
Remus tried to keep moving towards the door before sighing and turning around. “Yes.”
“I’m so sorry, Moons.” Remus was taken aback at how sad Sirius looked. “They’re all fucking pricks.”
“Yeah,” he huffed out a soft laugh. “Although, it doesn’t exactly change much for me, personally. It’s still fucking awful.”
“It… doesn’t?” Sirius asked.
“Well, firstly, unregistered.” He gestured at himself, “And secondly, it’s not as if I could get married in the muggle world either. I never assumed marriage would be an option for me. 8 years ago, I’d have been arrested for—”
“What are you on about?” Sirius asked. “Oh, is this another weird muggle thing that I’m too ‘Ancient-House-of-Black” to understand? James?”
“Pads.” James shook his head with a smile.
“Oh, he still doesn’t know?” Remus sighed, “Pads, it won’t affect me, because I have no plans of ever marrying a girl. I like boys. Men can’t marry other men in this country, magical or muggle.”
“Oh, well good for y— Wait! Why ever not?” Sirius looked furious. "That's outrageous!"
Remus shrugged, “Some backward homophobic bullshit reason, I’m sure.”
“Well, that’s a load of bollocks.” He frowned, feeling fire in his stomach for a reason that he couldn’t entirely place as simply fury on Remus' behalf.
“It’s fine, I’m seen as a monster no matter which world I’m in. I’m used to it at this point.” Remus turned back to the door, missing the moment where Sirius Black’s heart broke. James reached for his brother’s hand and squeezed it.
“Things will be different one day, Remus,” James said softly. “This is just temporary.”
“Yeah, maybe.”

It was when Lily stopped talking to Severus, that she noticed she didn't have any other friends. Sure, she was friendly with several people around school. The prefects for one. Frank and Alice. Hestia and Marcus. Remus. Her roommates....
Although Lily didn't consider them their friends. They didn't know anything about her life outside school. Because she didn't tell them. And she didn't know anything about their lives either.
That's why Lily felt lonely as she walked to breakfast that morning. Severus and her used to pick up their food and go and eat it to one of the tables outside. Away from gossip, away from the rivalries of the houses, away from everyone. It had been really nice. Not anymore.
Lily noticed the little groups sitting together and talking and laughing probably about inside jokes she would never understand. Friend groups of years and years. Perhaps it was too late to make any friends. Lily was a sixth year now.
She noticed the Gryffindor table and the familiar faces she knew.
Marlene McKinnon was standing up and mocking a pose to her friend Mary Macdonald. She looked so relaxed and happy that Lily laughed to herself.
Mary and Marlene were Lily's dormmates. But they usually talked about gossip and boys so Lily wasn't that interested to join them. It was through them that Lily found out about most things at Hogwarts. Sometimes Mary asked her how she looked before a date. Lily always said she looked good (it was the truth). Sometimes Marlene shared funny faces with her when Hestia yelled at them about the mess. Lily smiled back.
The longer they had talked had been in fourth year when James Potter started asking her out. It was then when she found out about Mary's crush on him.
"It's okay if you like him, Lily" Mary had said "I can step aside"
"Oh no! If anything I think he is a twat!" she said, the girls laughed "He is all yours Mary, I am not interested" then she whispered to herself "Although I don't know how you can be"
"He is my twat!" Mary had smiled dreamily.
Marlene shivered "Listen Lily, James is like my third brother, but if he bothers you too much, I'll kick his balls"
Lily had giggled "Thanks"
"Be careful with his balls, though" Mary had replied "I do want children with him"
"Eew" Marlene had snapped and Lily had agreed.
That had been it. They went back at barely speaking to her the next day.
Maybe Lily could sit with them now. They probably would want Lily to gossip and surely she wasn't in the mood. So no.
However when she realized someone was looking at her, and she realized it was Potter, she thought better of it. He would take the advantage of seeing her alone to invite her over and bother her with his stupid flirty comments. Even if Remus was nice, and Peter was okay, Black was a nightmare.
Then Lily noticed Severus alone at the Slytherin table. He was also looking at her, feeling miserable and lost. Trying to tell her with his eyes how sorry he was, how much he missed her.
Lily also missed him but she hated him for ruining everything like that.
Lily rathered sit with those girls than with bloody James Potter and his friends or Severus.
So that's why Lily found herself walking towards them. Mary and Marlene were whispering when she arrived.
"Just tell me who he is, I promise I won't say anything to anyone" Marlene was saying.
It was Mary who noticed Lily first and silenced her friend. Lily tried not to take it too personal.
Mary grinned "Hi Lily"
Marlene turned to look at her "What's up Miss Prefect?"
That what she called her since last year when she was elected "It'd be an honor to have royalty in our dorm" she had said.
"Hi girls" Lily put a lock of hair behind her ear "Do you think I can sit with you?"
As Mary and Marlene turned to look at each other, Lily blushed.
"Sure" Marlene shrugged.
Mary smiled at her as Lily took a seat next to the blond girl. Lily smiled back awkwardly.
"You can have some of our fruit" Mary pushed a large bowl towards her "But I am afraid Marlene ate all the blueberries"
"Well you ate all the strawberries!" Marlene put out her tongue.
"It's okay" Lily smiled.
"We always pick a bunch of random fruit but we only eat the berries" Mary explained "And we always leave the pineapple"
"Good thing I like pineapple" Lily hated pineapple.
"Great!" Mary beamed.
Lily felt how the girls observed her with quite interest. She started preparing her toasts how she usually did, wishing they would start talking about something. Anything.
"So, how come you're not sitting with Snivellus?"
Lily flinched at the mention of that nickname. The same way she did every time Potter used it.
"Marlene!" Mary protested.
"Sorry, Snape!" Marlene corrected "I'm spending too much time with Potter and Black"
"What I meant is that you shouldn't ask" Mary scolded. Then turned to Lily "You don't have to tell us, sweetheart" she smiled.
"It is just that you sit with him all the time and now you are sitting with us which is weird" Marlene clarified.
Lily took a deep breath "It's okay, we just.... We just... Got into a fight" she wished her eyes didn't fill with tears.
She didn't want to go into details about all the nasty things she heard him say about her to Mulciber and Avery. It hurt.
"Oh sweety" Mary made a pout with her perfect red lips "That's a bomer"
"Yeah"
"But were you like dating or something?" Mary asked curiously.
Marlene even stopped drinking her coffee to look at her.
They genuinely believed Severus and her were a couple, didn't they? Why couldn't people believe a boy and a girl could just be friends.
"No, we were just friends" Lily didn't know why she blushed.
"Oh!" Mary sipped her tea.
Marlene was uninterested once more.
"Although he tried to kiss me on New Years" Lily added and she didn't know why.
It had been a very important thing that she wished she could tell a friend. Of course Lily had rejected him because she didn't feel anything more than friendship. But she didn't know what to do about it. She panicked about losing Severus.
She couldn't talk with her mother because she didn't like him. She couldn't talk with Petunia because she was difficult. The only person she told things to was Severus.
Maybe Lily had the neccesity to share it or maybe she wanted to give these girls the gossip they wanted. She didn't know.
"Oh my God! Really?" Marlene was amused.
"And did you kiss him back?" Mary asked with a smile.
"No!" Lily blushed "I mean no..." she sighed "It was all good and fine and we were talking about what will we do this new year and how we would always be friends and our plans for our future. Then the countdown started and before I knew it he was leaning in. I panicked and pushed him away. Then it was awkward and I think he got angry. Then when we came back to school, I was looking for him to apologize and maybe talk about what happened... And then I heard him... "
"You heard him say what?" Mary asked.
Lily noticed the attention the girls were giving her now. It felt nice to talk like this. Girls talking about boys.
"Nothing!" Lily exclaimed "Only that he was telling a.... A friend... How much I've hurt him and such"
Lie. Lie. Lie.
"Woow, you hurt him?" Marlene tsked "He was the one that threw himself onto you without permission!"
Mary giggled "Poor bloke. It is always hard to get out of the friendzone" then she leaned in blinking with her perfect eyelashes "The question is... Do you fancy him back?"
Lily went even more red "No" and she felt stupid for ever considered giving him a chance after the almost kiss. But it was only because Lily wanted her romantic story. Although the thought of dating Severus made her really uncomfortable.
"Maybe he needs space" Marlene commented "I would be humiliated if I tell someone how I feel and they rejected me"
"But he didn't confess anything, did he?" Lily sighed.
Mary was amused as she stared at her friend.
"Is that why you don't tell Sirius how you feel?"
"Mary!" Lily saw how Marlene went bright red. Lily was rather thankful the conversation had moved on from her.
"You fancy Sirius Black?" Lily asked her. She wasn't surprised half the school fancied that twat but Lily didn't see Marlene as that kind of girl.
"I don't!" Marlene answered embarrassed
"She does" Mary said at the same time. Then added "They even briefly dated on second year"
Lily turned to Marlene who at this point was covering her face.
"I didn't know that"
"I wouldn't call that dating..." Marlene mumbled behind her palms.
"He used to send you little love notes"
"Just stupid notes about how he was bored in class"
Mary grinned "Aaw that boy used to be romantic"
"Now all he does is snog a different girl each party"
Mary winked "And that makes you jealous"
"Yes..." Marlene said without noticing "I mean no! I'm not jealous! I'm not jealous at all, Lily! Let that wanker do what he wants"
"Sounds very jealous to me" Mary teased and Marlene groaned as she blushed.
Lily giggled. It felt nice to feel included in conversations like those. Lily always wondered why Petunia and her friends laughed and laughed inside her room. Lily had always wanted to be part of that. Maybe having girlfriends felt something like this.
"Let's talk about the bloke you fancy instead, Mary" Marlene said as she put a pineapple piece inside her mouth. Then realized it was pineapple and spit it on a napkin.
Lily was already interested in Mary. The girl pursed her lips.
"You fancy someone?" Lily asked nicely "Is it James Potter still?"
Lily knew Potter had dated Mary last year. She was relieved because he had finally left her alone but it was rather distrusting how she always found them snogging in corridors and Lily had to give them detention.
Mary smiled weakly "No no, James and I ended things up in good terms. We are friends now"
"Mary has a secret boyfriend" Marlene explained as she shook her head. Then proceeded to eat a biscuit "He is in fact so secret..." she spoke with her mouth full "that he had forbidden Mary to speak about him to anyone. Not even her shadow"
It was Mary's turn to blush, which was weird because that girl was so confident.
"And now you've told Lily"
"Like you told Lily about my crush on Sirius" Marlene said then jumped to add "Which is none existant! I don't have a crush"
Lily swallowed her tea "It's okay, I won't tell anyone. I'm not the snitch I was before... Anyway, I don't have anyone to tell either" she snorted to herself.
Mary and Marlene looked at her with pity. Marlene even patted her shoulder and Lily regretted saying anything.
Then Mary smiled as she placed her chin on her palm "I think I am in love, girls" she sighed.
"In love?" Marlene snapped.
"Aaaw, you're in love?" Lily asked at the same time.
Mary nodded quite embarrassed "I haven't felt this way about anyone"
Lily bit her lip. She was a sucker for love stories. They were her weakness. Sometimes Alice told her about Frank but she had her own friends. Petunia never told her anything about Vernon. So this was new to her.
"I'm starting to think this bloke is a creep" Marlene commented with a pout "Like an older guy kind of creep" then she gasped "Please Mary! Please tell me your mystery guy is not a teacher, please!!"
"Do you fancy a teacher?" Lily was genuinely shocked. Those things only happened in movies.
Marlene elbowed her "Imagine her with Binns"
Lily bit her lip "Or Slughorn"
"Or Flitwick!"
Both girls bursted into giggles.
"Would you stop?" Mary snapped "He is not a teacher!" Then she grinned "Although I wouldn't mind having something with Professor Frumentar"
Lily knew the young professor was handsome and had many admirers amongst girls. But she could never set eyes on a teacher. It sounded horrendous.
"For God's sake!" Marlene groaned "See, Lily?" she pointed at Mary "See with what I have to deal with?"
Lily laughed as Mary tossed a napkin to Marlene's face.
It was weird but she was kind of having fun.
"Hello pretty young ladies!"
Of course James Potter and his presence had to ruin everything.
Lily rolled her eyes as the so called Marauders took a seat amongst them. Sirius took a seat next to Marlene, putting an arm around her "Missed me, McKinnon?" (she pushed it away) "You wish" (Mary beamed). Remus and Peter on each side of Mary. And Potter. Bloody Potter right next to her. If he put an arm around her, she was going to scream.
"I see you have new company today" James said looking at Lily. She was doing her best to stare at her tea cup "Alright, Evans?"
"I've been better"
Sirius and Marlene were making faces at each other. Mary was observing them amused. Remus was eating the pineapple left ("So many food wasted in this school"). Peter was cheekily observing Mary's boobs.
James Potter was fixed on Lily.
"How come you are sitting with the masses today?" James asked with an eyebrow raised.
"How come you don't leave if you are finished with breakfast?" Lily replied rather annoyed.
"We always have time since Moony doesn't eat but vaccums the food" Sirius said as he put his arm around Marlene once more. She shoved it away.
Remus was in the midway of eating the last pineapple when he raised his middle finger to Sirius.
"Let the poor skinny boy eat" Mary said as she pushed the bowl towards Remus.
"Don't worry, he ate all of our breakfasts already" Peter joked.
Lily was trying to avoid Potter's intense stare.
"How come you are not with your boyfriend today?"
"Severus is not my boyfriend" Lily spat.
"How did you know I was talking about him?"
Lily was losing patience. Of course he was talking about Severus. Lily Evans had had none experiences with boys. While everyone thought Severus and her were dating.
"I think even Evans doesn't like her breakfast to be filled with grease" Sirius commented.
Peter was the only one who laughed at that. Mary and Marlene looked disgusted. Lily was furious.
But Potter, he looked rather concerned "Did you two get into a fight?"
Lily didn't answer. She noticed all of the people around her were looking at her with curiosity. That's what she was, wasn't she? A mere gossip.
People loved getting their own conclusions. God! Now she regretted telling everything to Mary and Marlene. Of course they would tell them. They would tell Potter. How humiliating.
"He did something to you, didn't he?" James asked when Lily didn't answer.
Lily rose to her feet. "What do you care?? Ha?" she might've been yelling "It is none of your business who I sit with at breakfast. For your information, Severus and I, are perfectly fine! What if I want to sit with other people once in a while, eh? You don't control me, Potter! You don't own them either. Marlene might have been with you in primary school and Mary might have dated you at some point but you don't own them. You don't own these tables, you don't own this school!!"
"For your information, Lily is our friend" Mary said to Lily's surprise. She looked amused. "We hang out once in a while"
"Yeah!" Marlene followed her friend "You should see all the fun we have in our dorm"
"I want to see all the fun you have on your dorm" Sirius said which gained him Marlene's elbow on his ribs.
Lily's anger was suddenly lowered because of Mary and Marlene's comments. Perhaps Lily misjudged these girls. They weren't on Potter's side. They didn't gossip about her fight with Severus. Lily smiled at them in gratitude. They smiled back.
"Relax, Evans" James said as he rubbed his stupid hair "I was just asking that's all. Don't have to have your knickers on a twist"
"I was having a nice breakfast when you came to ask bloody stupid questions" Lily commented as she crossed her arms, although she sounded more calm. "I better go now..."
As Lily turned she heard Mary calling her.
"You won't tell about what... We discussed, right?"
Her secret bloke. Lily would never tell anyone about someone's secret. Although she heard Sirius and Peter asking about said topic.
Lily ignored them.
"Of course not" then turned to look at how Sirius was trying to poke Marlene's ear and she was pulling him away "None of it"
Mary smiled.
"See you in class later, then?"
Lily would love to. She was sure classes could be interesting with them.
"Sure"

Anon request: can you write something about remus painting sirius's nails
a/n: I love this idea sm anon, I just know Remus continues to do it a new color every week!
wc 379
Sirius was sitting on the edge of his bed biting his nails and shaking his leg. Something was definitely bothering him and had been for most of the day. James tried his best to make him talk but it was to no luck and eventually, he had to leave for Quidditch practice. Peter left shortly after, once Sirius’s pacing around the room began, getting frustrated with the ball of energy bouncing around the dorm.
Remus stayed in his bed reading a book, or trying to at least. He couldn’t stop himself from taking peeks at Sirius, worried about what was going on. Remus knew that if even James couldn’t get him to open up he wouldn’t be getting anything out of his friend. So he stayed there, hopelessly distracted, doing his best to make sure Sirius didn’t break anything.
Sirius stood up and went back to his pacing, continuing to chew on his nails and Remus had to admit he agreed a little bit with Peter on how annoying it was. “Sirius, come here.” He spoke, putting his book down and tucking his legs under him. Sirius just stared at him and Remus let him, let him choose for himself to listen. Eventually, he did and crawled onto the foot of Remus’s bed, sitting with his legs crossed.
Remus looked into his eyes hoping to see something hidden behind them and when he couldn’t, he said, “Wait here one minute.” Remus stood, leaving Sirius where he was, and ducked out of the room only to quickly return, finding that Sirius hadn’t moved at all.
“Give me your hands.” Sirius gave him a questioning look but did so anyway.
Remus opened his hand to reveal the bottle of nail varnish he must have borrowed from the girls. He opened the bottle and went across each finger, painting a light coat on each nail. Sirius didn’t say anything, simply watching Remus work.
It was after he finished the second coat on his first hand that Remus broke the silence. “You don’t have to talk to me about it but stop biting your nails.”
So Sirius didn’t talk. Later that night, he would crawl into James’s bed and close the curtains but until then, Sirius wouldn’t dare to chew on his nails.

“What's this?”
“Hair bleach.”
“Smells terrible.”
“Yes, well.”
Remus' head is starting to hurt with the smell, and he quietly wonders if Sirius' hurts too. Padfoot existing means Sirius' sense of smell is much better than before for some reason, and Remus' own was already a bit too good because of his furry little problem. The answer is clear and given when Sirius covers his nose with his hand and makes a face.
“Look, the roots are going to be darker. I want it to be sort of… Natural. Magic wouldn't give the same effect.”
“And this won't make me go bald? Or ruin my hair? Because the smell isn't very promising.”
“You absolute diva,” Remus loudly whispers.
Lily puts on gloves, and begins her work of art. “If anything happens, we can fix it. There's a reason we have magic.”
“Lily, you are so mean to me. I want a divorce.”
“Your eyes might sting. You should probably close them.”
“I'll take our thirteen children. Marry McGonagall. She'll treat me right.”
“Will I have permission to visit them?”
“Obviously. You are the godfather of five of our kids.” Sirius says. If Remus squints, he can almost see a single drop of cold sweat sliding down his temple. He wonders if it's the smell or the absolute despair of having someone potentially ruin his most prized possession. “We had to pass the other eight on to James though. I couldn't steal the love of his life without giving him some sort of apology gift.”
“Of course, of course. I remember that.”
“And now you steal the one other woman he ever loved.” Lily says disapprovingly. “What a brother you are.”

Masterpiece
WolfStar/FriendsToLovers/NoVoldemort
Part 1?
Under the shroud of midnight, the marauders ran through the castle corridors, leaving a trail of paint in their wake. Jame's invisibility cloak lay forgotten in the tower. Hushed laughter and whispers weaved through the shadows as they ran, Remus pausing to scourgify the floor behind them every few metres.
James snuck them all into the prefect bathroom to change. The bathroom echoed their laughter, the dark room illuminated only by the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through stained glass windows. Sirius' usual styled hair is plastered to his skin, and his shirt is now a vivid plum as opposed to its usual white.
The paint intended for a crude mural outside Slughorn's office had slipped from Peter's grasp when he rounded the corner behind his friends to see Mrs. Norris swishing her tail, waiting for them. They had fled in the opposite direction, leaving the paint cans splattered over the floor.
Sirius, struggling to catch his breath, couldn't help stop giggling at the sight of their dishevelled appearances. James, with streaks of paint up the back of his neck and splatters of pink on his shirt, looked like a walking canvas. Peter, remarkably, had managed to avoid most of the paint on everything except for his shoes. Peter frowned as he looked down at his now multicoloured sneakers, his third favourite pair.
"Maybe we could blame the cat?" Remus suggested, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
James snorted. "Sure, Moony, because cats are known for their impeccable painting skills."
Remus chuckled.
Sirius imagined the small evil feline, no doubt lurking in corners at this moment with its paint-covered paws tracking colourful footprints all over the house. The ludicrousness of the thought made him burst into laughter. "I can just picture it now; she'll be the new Picanno."
"It's Picasso, Pads." Remus corrected, shaking his head with a smile.
Blue paint pooled at the floor of Remus' feet as he stripped off his jumper, unbuttoning his shirt. Sirius was frozen, his breath caught in his throat. Remus stood a blue mess, his brow glistening in sweat and his hair matted against his forehead. He looked a right mess, and Sirius was mesmerised.
Remus had never looked so beautiul, so captivating. Or maybe he had, and Sirius hadn't been looking close enough.
Sirius traces the shape of Remus' face with his eyes, the dim light casting shadows on his features, accentuating the sharpness of his jawline and the softness of his lips. His chest rose and fell with each heavy breath.
Remus looks up and catches him staring. Their eyes meet, and Sirius hopes Remus can't read the thoughts on his face. His brother had always said that he wore his emotions loudly on his face, and in this moment, he wished otherwise. The intensity of their gaze held a weight that neither of them could ignore.
James wraps an arm around him, Sirius blinks, and Remus looks away, breaking the connection. The moment passes.
James, oblivious to the tension in the air, smacks his back. "Mate, come on, we need to hurry before Minny finds us."
Sirius forces a smile, grateful for James's distraction, and quickly averts his gaze to the floor and tries to regain his composure. However, the image of Remus covered in blue paint and sweat lingers in his mind.
They returned to the tower in one piece, clad in nothing but their underwear—James' thoughtless brilliance had him vanishing their paint-stained clothing. They ascended the stairs, muffling their steps with a quick muffliato, careful not to wake anyway and be caught in their indescent state.
The adrenaline from their escapade still coursing through their veins, they collapse onto their beds, filling the quiet with their laughter.
"Night lads," Peter whispered, his voice barely audible in the darkness. "I'd say goodnight, but James vanished my shoes."
"It was an accident! I was trying to remove the paint!" James protested, his laughter still evident in his voice. "Mum uses a vanishing spell to fix stains; I thought it would work."
Remus threw a pillow towards James' bed. "It did work; only you vanished our clothes with the stains."
"Sorry.' James apologised sheepishly.
"Don't worry, Prongs," Sirius chimed in, grinning mischievously. "We'll just have to go commando tomorrow."
Remus' other pillow hits his head, and Peter and James burst into laughter. "I will not under any circumstances go commando,"Remus declared firmly, joining in the laughter. "We have other uniforms; now go to sleep before I smother you all."
Echoes of goodnight filled the room as they settled down, their laughter slowly fading into the quiet of the night.
Sirius gradually succumbed to slumber, though not without fleeting images of Remus dancing through his thoughts. The way Remus' eyes crinkled when he laughed, the memory of his paint-speckled skin—it all played like a vivid dream before he finally surrendered to the embrace of sleep.

Potions Dungeon
Nov. 26th - 446 words - @wolfstarmicrofic
TW: child abuse
Remus hated Sirius
Well, not really. He was actually deeply head over heels for Sirius, but that is why he hated him. Why did one person get to completely tear him apart with just a single glace?
The potion dungeons were freezing, a nasty side effect of the cold winter weather. Remus was well prepared and had a big coat on, but others not so much. Many students were shivering or huddling around a fire they’d lit below their children, or pretending to faint to leave Slughorn’s classroom, but he seemed as determined as ever to keep his class going.
Predictably, Sirius was one of those unprepared.
He had been in a rush this morning, frantically running around trying to find a pair of socks, and he was now desperately paying for it.
He and Remus were sharing a cauldron, and Sirius had his arms around him and was shaking an absurd amount. His body was curled in on itself, his hair proving as a drape and covering his face. He was muttering under his breath, and Remus knew that his shaking wasn’t all due to the cold.
“Pads?” Remus asked softly, causing Sirius to jump and almost fall over. Even Sirius, with his nose and ears red and his eyebags seeming deeper than they had been in a while, still looked absolutely stunning. Pull it together Lupin, time to put your bloody feelings aside and help him. Remus thought desperately, before starting to take off his coat, but Sirius’s eyes just widened.
“No no no, keep it on, you’ll be freezing.” Sirius wringed his hands in his lap. Remus raised an eyebrow to Sirius. “Really. I don’t want you to be cold.” Sirius said again.
Remus looked at him for a second.
“Why are you shaking so badly?”
“Nothing.” Sirius responded a little too quickly. “Just the cold.” He added. Remus stayed silent for a few more moments before Sirius sighed. “Walburga used to lower the temperature in our rooms when we didn’t behave. It would go until we either ‘learned our lesson’ or we could no longer feel our body. Usually the latter.” Sirius winced, but then attempted a smile.
“I’m okay MoonMoon, I promise.” Remus looked at Sirius for a few more moments before he stood up and moved his chair closer to Sirius’s. Once he’d done that, he took one of his arms, and wrapped it around Sirius, sharing the coat with him. Sirius immediately leaned into the embrace, practically crawling onto Remus’s lap, wrapping his arms around Remus’s waist to keep him in place, and putting his face a few centimeters from Remus’s neck.
“Thank you.” He murmured.
Remus was fucked.

Wolfstar microfic: Family
@wolfstarmicrofic
Jan. 3, 2025, Prompt: First time meeting the family
Word count: 502
"How old were you the first time you met Sirius's family?" Harry asks, looking at Remus with his mother's inquisitive green eyes.
"I was fifteen the first time I met the Blacks if that's what you mean, but the first time I met his family…" Remus smiles.
……
He was terrified, there were so many people and so much noise on the Hogwarts Express. Remus tugged his shabby robes tighter around himself and gripped his trunk tighter. He peered into compartments, nearly sighing with relief when he found an empty one. He managed to stowe his trunk in the compartment, but when he turned he found himself face to face with two boys. One had dark eyes behind round glasses, warm brown skin, and unruly black hair. The other boy had black hair as well, although his was perfectly styled and cut at his ears. He reminded Remus of paintings he had seen in museums, with his wide grey eyes and porcelain skin. Belatedly, Remus realized that this must be their compartment. Before Remus could run away, the boy with the messy hair grinned and stuck out his hand.
"I'm James Potter!" Remus shook his head hesitantly.
"Remus Lupin," Remus said. Before he could come up with something else to say, a woman with James's eyes and a man with his wild hair ran up to the compartment window.
"Sorry, that's my mum and dad," James said, rushing to the window. He whispered to his parents and they reached through the window to grab his hands. Remus looked awkwardly around the compartment and found the painting-like boy watching James and his family with an odd expression, almost disbelief.
"Oh, that's Remus Lupin." Remus turned when he heard james say his name and found James's parents looking at him. His mother smiled at him.
"I'm Euphemia, it's lovely to meet you dear." She said warmly. Remus smiled shyly back at her.
"It's nice to meet you too Ma'mn," Remus said and Euphemia smiled broadly at him.
"I'm Fleamont," James's father smiled, "You take care of my boy, don't let him get into too much trouble." James groaned but Fleamont just chuckled, eyes twinkling.
"Of course sir." Remus said, and then the train whistle sounded and they were moving, James saying goodbyes and 'I love you's to his parents. Remus sat down, finding himself across from the boy whose name he still didn't know.
"My name is Sirius Black." The boy said, his confident tone slipping into hesitancy at his last name.
"Nice to meet you," Remus responded. Sirius looked at him quizzically, as though searching for something in his face.
"Do you not know who my family is?" Sirius asked, which struck Remus as a rather odd question.
"No, should I?" Remus asked warily. Sirius just grinned at him.
"Nope. Say, would you like some chocolate?" Remus grinned back at Sirius.
…..
"I was eleven years old. We both were, though neither of us knew who they were to be at the time.

The Latte Effect
Sirius Black is many things—effortlessly cool, devastatingly attractive, and, most importantly, completely in control of himself.
Or at least, that’s what he thought before him.
The problem with the mysterious, gorgeous man who sits in the corner of Bean There, Done That every morning is that he exists. That’s all. That’s the whole issue. He exists in his tall, scruffy, bookish, golden-eyed glory, and Sirius turns into an absolute wreck around him.
It doesn’t make sense. Sirius flirts like he breathes—it’s second nature, as easy as rolling out of bed with perfectly tousled hair. But something about this man scrambles his brain like a short-circuited radio.
Today is no exception. Sirius steps into the café, fully prepared to be suave and nonchalant, and immediately trips over absolutely nothing. His phone nearly flies out of his hand, his sunglasses slide down his nose, and he barely saves himself from colliding headfirst into the pastry display.
“Morning, Sirius.”
And there it is. The Voice. Warm, low, just the slightest bit amused. It shouldn’t be legal for someone to have a voice like that before Sirius has had caffeine.
He slowly turns, trying desperately to gather whatever remains of his dignity. Remus Lupin is exactly where he always is—by the window, a book open in front of him, a cappuccino in hand, and the kind of knowing smirk that makes Sirius want to either kiss him or throw himself into the sea.
“H-hey, Remus,” Sirius says, cursing himself internally. Hey? Really? He could do better than hey. He could do so much better. He clears his throat, attempting to lean against the counter, only to misjudge the distance and nearly topple over.
Remus tilts his head. “Everything all right there?”
“Me? Fine! Completely fine. Never been finer.”
Remus hums, taking a slow sip of his drink, his lips curling slightly over the rim of the cup. Sirius is staring. He knows he’s staring, but he can’t stop.
“You do know you have to actually order coffee before you get any, right?” Remus teases.
Right. Coffee. That’s why he’s here.
Sirius spins toward the barista, attempting to recover. “Uh, yeah. I’ll have—” And then he makes the fatal mistake of glancing back at Remus, whose eyebrow is raised in a way that should be classified as a crime. His mind completely blanks. “I’ll have—um—what he’s having.”
The barista doesn’t even bother to hide her smirk. “A decaf oat milk cappuccino?”
Sirius freezes. He blinks. “I—uh—no! I meant, uh, the one I usually get.”
She grins. “A triple-shot black espresso with extra foam?”
“Yeah! That. That one.” Sirius nods vigorously, refusing to meet Remus’s eyes.
Remus chuckles, low and amused, as he turns a page of his book. “Didn’t peg you for the decaf type.”
“Oh, shut up,” Sirius mutters, grabbing his drink the second it’s ready and practically fleeing to the table beside Remus’s, because he’s a masochist.
Remus watches him, still smirking, eyes glinting like he knows. Knows exactly how much he affects Sirius. Knows that Sirius is one comment away from combusting entirely.
And then, as if it’s nothing, Remus leans forward, resting his chin in his palm. “You do realize,” he says, “you don’t have to make a fool of yourself every morning just to talk to me, right?”
Sirius chokes on his espresso. Dies. Or, at the very least, wishes he could die.
Remus just grins. “You could just ask me out, you know.”
Sirius blinks. “I—wait, what?”
Remus closes his book, standing and stretching in a way that is completely unfair. He tugs on his coat, slinging his bag over his shoulder, and tosses a lingering glance at Sirius.
“I’ll be here tomorrow,” he says. “Same time. Think about it.”
And then he’s gone, leaving Sirius sitting there, gripping his coffee like it’s the only thing keeping him tethered to reality.
He exhales sharply, then mutters under his breath, “What the fuck just happened?”
The barista snorts from behind the counter. “You got flirted with, mate. Congrats.”
Sirius groans and drops his head onto the table.
Tomorrow. He has until tomorrow to pull himself together.
Or, at the very least, to figure out how to ask Remus Lupin out without making a total fool of himself.
…He’s doomed.

Heatwave
Written for @wolfstarmicrofic prompt - popsicle. ~460 words
June 1976
The weather was unbearable. It was the hottest summer recorded in years and they were all feeling it.
James, who usually spent all summer playing quidditch, had taken to lying in the living room near a window, where a cool breeze drifted through the curtains. He used his time writing letters to Lily and playing chess with Remus, who was staying with them while his parents were away.
Peter's family had disappeared as soon as the heatwave hit, heading to the coast where they could bask in the sun and cool down in the ocean.
It was Sirius's first summer away from Grimmauld place. Previous years had been spent inside in the darkness of his house, staring out his window wistfully. He was determined not to waste away inside this year. So, despite Effie's concerns about heat stroke and Fleamont's offers of cooling charms, he was outside, sat under a tree, sketching carefully. He had pinned his hair up with a pencil in an attempt to keep cool, but he could still feel the sweat drying on his neck. He was almost finished the sketch, he reasoned. He just needed to get Remus's face right and then he could go inside and cool down. Just a little longer.
"Pads!"
Sirius looked up to ses Remus standing right next to him, holding a hand out.
"How long have you been standing there?" he asked, letting Remus help him to his feet.
"Only a minute," Remus responded. "I've been calling you since I walked out the back door, though. What are you up to?"
Sirius snapped his sketchbook close, unwilling to confess who he was drawing or why.
"Just drawing, ya know," he said. "Nothing special."
"Well, Monty sent me to call you inside. He's got popsicles and lemonade."
"I just need ten more minutes." Sirius stepped away to sit back down. "Just gotta get it right and I'll be over."
Remus grabbed his hand and pulled him away from the tree, practically dragging him to the house.
"Oh, no, Pads. I know you. You'll sit out here until it gets dark if I let you go. You can sketch inside."
"But-"
"C'mon, Sirius," Remus interrupted. "I feel like I've barely seen you since I've been here. Come inside. Please?"
Sirius stared up at his friend, giving him his best puppy-dog eyes while gently tugging him towards the house. Remus's faced was lightly flushed from the heat, his freckles out in full force from being in the sun back home. He was beautiful.
"Fine," Sirius conceded. "But that's a dirty trick, Lupin. You know I can't resist that face."
Remus grinned triumphantly and turned back towards the house, not letting go of Sirius's hand.
"Believe me. I know, Pads."

I've been doing battle with my internet all day to get this up for Lynxmas. I would not be bested!! I refused and I persevered!! So a very happy birthday from me and the rowdy 11 year olds to our favorite barwench humble forest cat @lynxindisguise!!
There’s a peculiar shuffle to sharing one’s room, a frenzy of activity when it comes to four boys squashed into a rather small circular dorm that puts Remus—not only used to the solitude of his own little cottage bedroom, but raised without so much as a single other child his own age for at least ten miles in each direction—decidedly on edge.
It’s a continuation of the chaos from the welcoming feast, where the newly-sorted Gryffindor boys had quickly found their stride and accompanying role in the ecosystem. James and Sirius, no longer competing over who could eat more chicken thighs but still loudly trying to one-up each other’s boasts about feats of accidental magic. Peter, scrabbling to get a word in while his eyes gleamed with excitement each time one of them noticed. And Remus, the impulse to join in the fun warring with Dad’s gentle word of warning before he climbed on the train earlier in the day—can’t be too careful, lad.
He pushes that to the side, focusing instead on finding his plush grindylow Raccoon at the bottom of his trunk. It’s a poor replacement for Jeff, the very real grindylow who lives at the bottom of his garden pond and who he already misses something fierce—and he is not going to let the other boys see that he brought a stuffed animal with him to school, thank you very much—but still. It helps to know that Raccoon’s there. It helps to know he'll have at least one friend at school.
Because Peter’s nice, but he and James are already friends from growing up, and Sirius and James… Well, he supposes they mean well, but with their shining black shoes and posh accents and the way they barrel loud and bright through a conversation like nothing in the world could touch them, Remus can’t help but be intimidated. For Merlin’s sake, Sirius has silver monogrammed cufflinks on the sleeves of his school uniform. Even if Remus does manage the courage to ever string more than two words together in front of his new dormmates, he can’t imagine they’d ever want to be friends with someone like him.
There’s a flash then, followed by a bang, and Remus becomes briefly distracted by a whirling firework escaping from James’s trunk. There’s laughter at that, a slight salve to his fluttering, nervous gut when the other boy winks at him from behind square-frame glasses, but then James turns back to say something to Sirius instead and stops. He gapes.
“Why are you wearing a dress?”
“It’s not a dress,” Sirius sniffs, looking affronted at the very idea. “It’s a nightshirt.”
Well, whatever it is Sirius has changed into while the rest of them weren’t paying attention, it certainly looks like a dress. It’s white, and ankle-length, and buttoned all the way up to just beneath his chin. Also, it’s frilly. Very frilly. If anything, it looks like something out of Ma’s old and battered copy of A Christmas Carol, like he should really have a long nightcap and candleholder to go with it.
Remus can’t help it. He snorts.
Sirius snaps his gaze over, steel grey eyes boring holes into him, and Remus wants to melt into the floor beneath his feet. “Well, what do you wear to sleep, then, if it’s so funny?” he snaps.
“Not my gran’s nightie,” Remus replies, feeling he ought to be congratulated, actually, on such a witty remark. Only Sirius’s eyes flash at that, and immediately his jaw clamps jaw shut.
But then James is cackling, and Sirius seems to take in his new dormmates for the first time since they all began changing for bed. James, in a vest and Quidditch shorts. Peter, in a matching set of broomstick-patterned pyjamas. Remus, in a pair of joggers and the oversized green jumper that still smells like Dad. A red flush creeps up Sirius’s pale cheeks. “Oh.”
It occurs to Remus then, that this wasn’t at all what he wanted, either. He didn’t want to make Sirius feel bad about it. He hadn’t wanted to embarrass him.
So it’s a poor offering, maybe, but he finds himself digging out another jumper—orange, this time, but a nice soft one, and not too oversized or nubby—and says, “D’you want to borrow it?”
A moment passes, then two, and then Sirius is smiling wide. “Cheers, Lupin,” he says, a shine in his eyes of something Remus doesn’t quite know how to place.
In future days he’ll come to understand that that look is the surefire sign of Sirius about to do something that’s not the done thing—not by pureblood standards, anyway, whatever the hell those are. All he knows right now is that Sirius isn’t yelling at him—or worse, ignoring him—and then James is throwing an extra pair of Quidditch shorts at Sirius’s face and saying no one wants to see his skivvies, and then Peter is breaking out a massive bag of Bertie Bott’s to share, and maybe it turns out that Remus can have friends, actually, after all.
