🌟 Sweet Tea Social Club Presents: Feelings & Friends – Queer Speed Dating! 🌟
Hey, kindred spirits! We’re excited to announce Feelings & Friends, a queer speed dating event designed to celebrate joy, connection, and community. Whether you’re looking for friendship, love, or just a fun night out with like-minded folks, this space is for YOU! 💕
📅 When: Wednesday, February 12, 2025 ⏰ Time: 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM 📍 Where: Little Pep, Winston-Salem, NC 🎟️ RSVP Here: bit.ly/Sweetteasocial
This is our FIRST event as Sweet Tea Social Club, and we’re on a mission to create spaces for queer joy in the Triad area. Over the next few months, we’ll be building community and searching for a permanent brick-and-mortar space—because we know how important physical space is for gathering, dreaming, and simply being together.
In a world that often demands resilience, creating spaces for joy is a radical act. Joy is resistance. It’s how we nourish ourselves, find connection, and remember the world we’re fighting to build.
We’d love your help spreading the word! Share this post, tag your friends, and let’s make this a night to remember. 🏳️‍🌈

Trans man: *acts vulnerable*
Queerspaces: “Stop acting so meek and fragile! You are taking advantage of being afab!”
Trans man: *acts tough*
Queerspaces: “Just another toxic misogynistic man. You may be trans but you still have all the same privileges as a cisgender man!”

TW: discussion of internalised arophobia
I've realised i was aromantic almost three years ago. I was reading the first chapter of Loveless by alice oseman in a theater, waiting for the show to start. I couldn't concentrate on anything, my mind too focused on the words i just read. I was so scared back then, i rememeber feeling like i was gonna throw up. Of course i'm still scared sometime, but not as much. Three years ago i was still pretending to be alloace. You see, realising i was ace was easy, i guess i just knew when i was 16 that not feeling any sexuals...needs, wasn't "normal" for someone my age. It was even more weird that it didn't seem to bother me that much. But god, when i realise i was aromantic, when i googled "is it normal that i don't mind being single forever" and was met with "sign you might be aromantic" articles instead of a solution, i was defasted. Because suddenly, me wanting to be single wasn't a choice, it was because there were something wrong with me, something i coudln't change. I was navigating in online queerspace at the time, which is why i didn't really mind being asexual, it was something that people talked about and joked about within the spaces, but i had to search to find the word aromantic, as if we didn't exist in the community. It would have been so much more easier for me if i had both words at the same times.

Congratulations to terfs I guess, you were so excited to get rid of the T you got rid of the B!
Do you really think TERFs give a crap about that?
They aren't just transphobic
They are queerphhobic
They started with the T, but the whole alphabet is the goal
That's why she-who-must-not-be-named as marched on to te A withhout missing a single beat
The T was the most vulnerale group, since they where not very welcome in queerspaces to begin with
Now it's te A's, who also have to constantly justefy why they belong in queerspaces
If the B's don't get axed as colaterall no worry, their time will come ... after all, queerspaces already are not very welcoming to them, always trying to stuff them in either the gay, lesbian or straigt category
Bi women dating a man? Straigt
Bi women dating a lesbian? Lesbian
Bi man dating a man? Gay
Bi man dating a women? Straight
etc ...
Bi person not dating anyone? Invissible ...

important to state for the record that the British Supreme Court are idiots
they sound very scary when you describe them as The Supreme Court but remember, these are five dusty old cishets, one of whom is a weirdo who used to write homophobic documents for the Church of Scotland. I've seen so much commentary, even from pro-trans british journalists, about how the ruling is "forensic" and "balanced" and "rational" - no it isn't, it's clearly the work of people who don't know what they're talking about. You know how I know? They accidentally defined all bi women as lesbians. They said that the legal test for a lesbian is being an AFAB person attracted to another AFAB person, and at no point did anyone go, "Hang on a second, what about bi people?" Congratulations to terfs I guess, you were so excited to get rid of the T you got rid of the B!
This ruling is exactly what you'd expect from locking five old straight people in a room and asking them to set rules for queer life without speaking to any queer people. Their judgement is silly legal word games and it has no relation to real people's actual lives - if you wanna use lawyerspeak they've "undermined public confidence in the legal system." It's not even "the emperor has no clothes," it's "the emperor is naked and covered in shit."
i can kinda understand that politicians need to make a show of respect in their tone, like okay, probably a good thing that politicians don't get into the habit of publicly undermining judges. But any journalist who treats this ruling as remotely sensible is daft - only a straight person could make that kind of mistake
These judges are idiots - I use the word in the classical greek sense of someone who is not connected to and does not understand the life of the public, of the people. Their judgement is laughable and we don't have to respect them

Ramadan is about more than fasting, Queer Muslim Naarm welcomes all
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/ramadan-is-about-more-than-fasting-queer-muslim-naarm-welcomes-all/
Ramadan is about more than fasting, Queer Muslim Naarm welcomes all
Abdurahman Katamish and Sasja Sÿdek from Queer Muslim Naarm reflect on inclusive Ramadan events, bringing people from all walks of life together.
Ramadan occurs in late February or early March, depending on lunar sightings.
During Ramadan Muslims across the globe begin a month devoted to fasting, self-reflection, and unity.
From dawn to dusk each day, we will fast, abstaining from consuming food and drink.
While prioritising kindness, generosity, and love to one other for one another.
Unlike intermittent fasting, which is often practised for health benefits, Ramadan is a time deeply rooted in spiritual and communal values.
A strong sense of community marks it, with shared meals, and deep contemplation.
For the second consecutive year, Queer Muslim Naarm, founded by Abdurahman Katamish (also known as Boudie) and Sasja Sÿdek, host Queer Iftars across Naarm/Melbourne.
Creating an inclusive space where people can come together in the spirit of Ramadan.
These Iftar gatherings are open to everyone, whether you identify as Muslim, culturally Muslim, or a Queer Muslim ally.
Or simply an individual who wants to partake in the tradition of breaking fast and celebrating community.
Queer Iftars offer more than just a meal; they provide a space to honour traditions, share stories, and create meaningful connections.

All welcome ay Iftar’s during Ramadan
This year, five different Iftar events will take place throughout the month, including a special “All Women’s Iftar” at Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, open to anyone who identifies as a woman.
This unique Iftar will once again be held in collaboration with Trans Sisters United.
These gatherings receive support from Thorne Harbour Health, Switchboard Victoria, LGBTQIA+ Commissioner’s Office, Drummond Street Services, and Yarra City Council.
Their assistance is crucial in ensuring that the events remain accessible and welcoming to all who wish to join.
Queer Muslim Naarm transcends the concept of a single identity; it embodies a culturally rich initiative that unites Queer Muslims and their allies in a vibrant community.
This space serves as a sanctuary for individuals to celebrate their diverse traditions and indulge in shared meals.
It actively addresses the feelings of isolation that can arise when navigating the complexities of intersecting identities, fostering a sense of belonging and solidarity.
Through various activities and gatherings, Queer Muslim Naarm encourages open dialogue, mutual support, and the affirmation of each person’s unique journey.
Promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse experiences within the community.
“I’m not Muslim, but I was raised in a predominantly Muslim country, “Lily Chang from Queerspace Youth said,
“So Ramadan is a significant part of my culture.”
“I’m truly thankful for these Queer Iftars organised by Queer  Muslim Naarm, as they allow me to feel at home once more.”
People from all walks of life come together for these gatherings.
Not only to support their Queer Muslim friends but also to embrace the warmth and hospitality that Ramadan offers.

Break fast together
Each Iftar stands as a celebration of culture, diversity, and the strength of community support.
One of the primary motivations behind the establishment of Queer Muslim Naarm is our commitment to advocating for volunteers and their rights.
We strive to build a supportive community that empowers volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and respected for their contributions.
Our goal is to create an environment that acknowledges the significance of each volunteer.
Promoting their well-being, and ultimately fostering a more equitable and supportive system for everyone involved.
This year, Queer Iftar events will be held across various councils in Melbourne, enhancing accessibility for different communities.
A special thanks goes to the Positive Living Centre in South Yarra, which consistently opens its doors and offers a welcoming environment for these and numerous other community gatherings.
As Queer Iftars return for another year, they stand as a powerful reminder that Ramadan is about more than just fasting, it’s about kindness, community, and love.
Regardless of whether you choose to fast, everyone is invited to come together for a shared meal, enjoy laughter, and create meaningful moments of connection.
These gatherings emphasise inclusivity, allowing individuals of all backgrounds to break fast together, fostering a sense of unity and understanding.
It’s an opportunity to forge friendships, exchange stories, and celebrate the spirit of togetherness that transcends beliefs and practices.
Everyone can contribute to an atmosphere rich in warmth and camaraderie.
Follow Queer Muslim Naarm on Instagram and Facebook for updates on how to be part of these meaningful gatherings.
