Crosshair, every season: *providing critical information or context waaaaaaay past when it would have made a difference in the game* This is a hilarious facet of his personality. Utterly aggravating. I love it. Hunter: "CrossHAIR!" Crosshair: "what" Hunter: "THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD TO KNOW LAST YEAR" Crosshair: "You didn't ask" Hunter, voice pitching up into glass-shattering levels of utter indignation: YES I DID. YOU WERE THERE CROSSHAIR. TECH HAS IT ON VIDEO CROSSHAIR If anybody had taught Crosshair to use his words at any point in his development...canon would have gone a lot differently. Just sayin'. P.S. This means him and Tech are absolutely two sides of the same coin, except Tech genuinely doesn't get -- like a lot of smart people -- when to assume people have the background information they need and when to assume he needs to explain things. Crosshair's just a drama queen who hates having to justify his bat-crap crazy decisions to anyone :D :D Either way and either brother...Hunter can never win :D.
Tech: I thought it was obvious Crosshair: You didn't ask Hunter: I hate you both

ufff don't even get me started on part deux of the cat plotline, so unnecessary to do it like that, the idea that he spent years under the impression that he had been assaulted and had his perception of reality compromised in some way only for that to be a rug pull?? gutting actually, especially with the pregnancy fake out knowing that having kids was something he wanted! I think that CM is both constrained and yknow iconic because it is a procedural on network tv and that both comes with the good and the bad, except that they kind of grew up as a show during a transitional period in tv where we know sort of expect more almost? of our shows with the rise of streaming and more ubiquitous prestige tv and the inability of a procedural to linger on a storyline or plot is both what makes it entertaining but also repetitive and at times shallow
anon. i want to be your best friend. not to be dramatic. but i'll kiss ur brain rn.
the whole cat adams plot is, as a whole, traumatizing. i'm trying to be relatively polished as i speak about this, but it's difficult! i want to get you started on it because it's so important to talk about!
spencer takes time to process things, and the fact that he was told that he had been sexually assaulted and had fathered the child of a woman he hates all while his mother, the most important person in his life, had been kidnapped. throughout the entire series, spencer is good with kids. he likes interacting with kids. he explicitly says that he wants children. then cat fucking adams pulls up and tells him that she's pregnant with his child. he continues to tell her that he wishes it was his child and that he could raise the baby better than she ever could. just for her to go back years later, tell him the assault never happened and blame her miscarriage on him. she might be a serial killer, but her strength is mind games.
i don't know that i necessarily agree on your thoughts on expecting more from television shows. maybe i'm not thinking about it in the same terms that you are. i think shows that were made for streaming services have done a lot of detriment to tv in general, we went from having ~22 episode seasons of most shows to ~10 episode seasons, where there isn't space for there to be filler. in a 10 episode season, there's no room for your characters to sing billy joel in a closing bar, but in a 22 episode season, plot lines are started just to be ignored by the time the next episode rolls along. again though, a lot of that disconnect could be attributed to the number of writers on the show. i've always been a fan of procedurals, and one of the things i enjoy the most about them pertains to the fact that you can half watch the show and still have a relatively good idea of what's going on. at the end of the day, the show is about the crimes. maybe this is because i prefer a more spread out plot as opposed to a season that's constrained to fit into 10 episodes.
additionally, procedurals aren't the only shows that drop and add storylines on a whim. i think it's more of a concentration on the difference in season lengths than the genre of the show.
(i want to yap more, but my laptop is going to die)

U know what's always made me mad?
Mike not getting into the scare program in Monsters University.
🌸Sorta a brainrot, not my usual content, the family was watching Monsters University and inspiration struck. Also sorry I've been ~busy~ 🌸
Listen weird thing to be mad about but bear with me here oki?
He spends all his time reading his textbooks, looking and examining other scarers, and tryning to be like them. To scare like them.
And when he tries to scare like that, it just. Doesn't work. It looks silly. Like he's trying to hard.
All those monsters, the reason they are scary is because they are accentuating the features they have.
And Mike simply doesn't have those. He's not big, with tons of sharp teeth, with giant hands and huge claws.
He is round, and small, twiggy limbs, with an enormous eye, which is mostly his entire being.
He sees all the ways to improve others scaring techniques because everyone at that point has only had ONE scaring technique.
Big, loud, and quick.
What Mike needed to do is just. Open the closet slowly. And slowly peak out, and put his most notable feature to work.
His eye.
He needs to make some noise opening the closet door, enough to wake the child. He needs to just barely peer out of the closet once the kid moves their attention away, and be visible.
Unmoving, unblinking, but very much staring.
How many times have you woken up and your brain makes you think the pile of clothes on the chair is like a demon about to snatch you?
Of course your not screaming off the bat, but my GOD do you feel spooked right?
Now imagine that with an giant fucking eye. And ofc it's not moving and you know what, it is probably just your imagination.
You turn to go to sleep..
And you hear a scuttle.
You quickly turn back to your closet where that thing, that eye was.
But it's not there. It's under your desk now.
It's still too dark to see clearly. You spend a few minutes even more creeped out, but at this point exhaustion is starting to hit and you can't help but start to nod off.
Fuck it, your insane, its not there. Nothing is ever there.
A few moments go by, you feel your heart rate slowing a bit.
A creak, a weight on your bed. You panick, turning back over to see what is happening.
And right in front of you is the huge eye you hoped was merely a side effect of sleep deprivation, right infront of you, and slowly it grins, drool dripping, weight on your chest, a single word rasping from its mouth.
"Boo."
You can't help but scream.

Today I would like to shout out that one random Twitter person who made up that JD Vance bragged about fucking a couch.
Imagine making a random shitpost and less than two months later your joke is being used by a major party nominee for Vice President on live television at his introduction rally, earning him thunderous applause.
That poster must be having quite the experience.

the thing is, i totally get the "if I was there it might've been different" because that's grief, that's wondering about all the what ifs, even if logically it wouldn't change anything (we've talked abt this at length when certain ppl were constantly talking about how different it would've been if eddie was there. it wouldn't. he's not any more skilled than everyone who was there)
it's just what you do. feel guilty for not being there, feel bad that everyone but you was there with him in his final moments. feel guilty (and angry at himself) for not speaking to him in a while. wonder about the craziest what ifs. even if realistically you wouldn't be able to change shit. I get how he was feeling.
but to imply he thought buck wasn't doing anything he could to save Bobby? (which is what the "I don't know" sounded like) fuck this tbh if that's your best friend, you should know better than anyone. you know he goes above and beyond always, for everyone, and especially for his father figure. and yeah, it's just misplaced anger, but man, what he said was so unfair, and this was one of the times buck wasn't making anything about himself. that was eddie projecting and lashing out, and it was fucked up.
"you never asked how it felt getting that phone call" Yeah (that's such a specific question idk anyone would ask tbh) but he asked abt your grief. he did in a very buck way with all the grief assessments and everything but he did ask, he did care. I wonder if anyone asked buck abt how he feels, really checked in on him, talked to him (the way everyone else talks to each other about Bobby in 8x17) instead of tiptoeing around him as if he could fall apart at any moment hm🤔

It's okay to be emotional over a ship.
It's okay to be emotional over a ship. It's okay to be emotional over characters. It's okay to share grievances over a ship as much as it's okay to gush over a ship. It's okay to feel so overwhelmingly negatively over a ship just as much as it's okay to feel so overwhelmingly positive.
While it's always going to be better to focus on positives, it can also be just as good to let out any negatives you might have about something rather than bottling it in and, for some, feeling alone in your thoughts about it.
It is so, so, SO OKAY to be so heavy in emotions concerning a ship whether negative or positive because it means you're invested in the characters and their relationships. When spaces seem to allow only positivity when some people might have some negative thoughts on a ship, it really negates any conversations about it and even understanding sides of why someone may or may not ship something.
While understandable, there is a double standard between being negative and positive about ships (or portrayal of characters). If you feel overwhelmingly negative about something, "you need to go touch grass". If you feel overwhelmingly positive about something, "go at it queen". I would personally argue we all need to touch grass.
It is NOT okay to harass others. It is NOT okay to let your emotions dictate that you should attack somebody for LIKING a certain ship or DISLIKING a certain ship. Your emotions DO NOT dictate how OTHERS should feel.
It is okay to be negative about a character or ship as much as it's okay to be positive about them. Neither side of being for or against a ship is more virtuous than the others. It's okay to have some fucking emotions regardless if their positive or not, because it means you CARE about the media and the characters in it.
No, you should not revolve your whole online experience in negativity. Find positive in things you DO enjoy. But to brush off people who vehemently might dislike a character or ship as "losers with no lives" is to disregard a person's emotions on something. And if you do wanna think that mindset, congrats, people who obsessively love a character or ship are just the same by your logic. Obsession is obsession, regardless if it's negative or positive.
TL;DR, If it's okay to be overwhelmingly positive in liking something like a ship or character, it should be just as okay to be negative in disliking something like a ship or character. Just as long as it's not the ONLY thing you focus on and no one is actively being bullied, attacked, or harassed about it. And of course, either way, positive or negative, it is all fiction, and a real person should not be attacked or harassed for it. And if you don't want to indulge in negativity you might have, 100% valid. Both sides always need to take a step back into reality.

Reminiscing this morning about some of the top-tier Veilguard Critical takes that I’ve seen
“They didn’t show slavery enough” We’ve been over this one enough I think but like. Ok sorry you didn’t get your white savior narrative?
“Tevinter is racist why didn’t they use slurs!” Fun fact: There’s a lot of racist people that know not to be blatant about it via the use of slurs! Also why do you want to be called slurs?
“Veilguard isn’t an RPG because it didn’t allow me to roleplay!” Ok so 1) you don’t know what an RPG is. And 2) Veilguard, a game that is constructed in the same manner as all 4 Mass Effect Games, DA2 AND DAI, is not an RPG even though ALL of those other games are? What is the justification here?
>An extension of this one, the person who tried to tell me that Final Fantasy 7 wasn’t an RPG. Still turning that one around in my head.
And my personal favorite that was not widespread but lives in my head rent free: “RPGs aren’t supposed to have themes”. This take was so baffling it belongs in “graphic design is my passion” meme territory
