The baby god.
The world was in panic as Justice League couldn't do anything, a glowing green metorite ball the size of Neptune was heading directly toward Earth.
The green lantern corps couldn't do anything to move the direction of the metorite, Superman couldn't even get near without feeling faint, believing that there was kyptonite on the metorite stopping him.
Not even John could make any deal that involved that metorite at all.
Many city panic, started fighting, crying, and broken down. Many religious groups accept their fate.
Gotham City refused to go out quietly as everyone was throwing a simultaneous party. Even the villains went all out, even Joker didn't cause harm to anyone, much less made a joke at all..
Joker tremblingly held a very old playing joker card that Batman had since their first fight years ago while his eyes, one still black from earlier look to the last live being recorded with Batman's voice speaking on the live, He stayed along side in gotham even when end of the world was here.
Clark Kent stayed with his ma and pa house, lois Lane, holding her hands.
The world stood still as the seemingly the end was close by.
Only for the glowing green metorite was rapidly slowing down, nearly the same length by as the moon even if it was gigantic in comparison.
A gargantuan hands seen to have grasped it, the hands itself were covered in stars and dust as a loudest chirp could be heard around the earth.
Bright bluish green eyes the size of the sun slowly blink with curious, a gigantic toddler the twice size of Jupiter, a chubby face covered in dwarfs star made freckles, a glowing green necklace that held the tiny dwarf pluto, hair the covered Most of the darkness that was the night sky like strains clouds made from the heaven themselves.
A massive deep blue puff escaped the gargantuan being's mouth, raining down all over the earth, where tiny pure crystalized ice was the size of a baby pearl that never melted.
Everyone who was watching the live or was watching outside could see the being clearly.
The metorite threatened to end all life on earth as they knew it was stopped by a god.
The god slowly turned, the bright white hair swaying star dust everywhere in the sky as they were turning to someone and floated away, the joyous young laughter of a toddler echoing on earth.

complexities, perplexities or some thoughts I had at 2am about kento & hiromi
idk im just ramblin' here - u been warned
When i first fell for nanami kento, i thought it was because of his commitment to his principles, the steadfastness in that regard.
i definitely find a parallel of that in Higuruma, even though it was less tempered idealism than "lost (his) temper" idealism - Yet if anything, that tragic outburst of murderous passion is testament of his obsession and zeal. It's his temporary denial and anguish that underscores years of enduring such bitterness and frustration, the decades long slog proving the strength of his willpower, that accumulates into one terrible moment of weakness; a process that simultaneously corroborates and yet is corrosive to his convictions. And now his conscience will have to suffer that slip-up forever.
Something has died in him; if it wasn't already dying for a long time. What survives, subsequently? Or what is rebirthed? I don't regard his psychotic break as fragility. After all, can we recognise someone's strength only after they've been pushed to a breaking point? And it takes a different sort of strength of will to rebuild, to live past who you thought you were, to accept becoming someone you thought you'd never be. Maybe it even takes an admission of weakness, and gentleness...
Higuruma ultimately finds his North Star again, remembers why he became an attorney, it's a return to his original beliefs; There's a definite through line despite the ramification of his actions, the kind of consistency and commitment which I find so compelling, that's a quality he shares with Nanami.
But Nanami's lapse is far less ruinous, his escapist delusion leads him to play a salaryman for a few years, compared to Higuruma becoming a damning executioner in a day. When Nanami rediscovered his purpose, he just shrugged off the corporate schtick and becomes a jujutsu sorceror again, in a sense accepting what he knew he was destined for from an early age. He accepts the truth and returns to a reality already familiar, albeit unpleasantly familiar, to him.
For Higuruma there's so such going back. That "reality" has vanished. No old job or routine he can simply pick up again.
Higuruma's "getting lost" has much bigger consequences - he can no longer be a lawyer, what was once his calling are now mere echoes of the past, reminders of the things that made him him.
The years of effort molding his identity have been entirely stripped away, by his own hands. Imagine all that pain and confusion on top of how hard it is for him to navigate through his guilt - fighting Sukuna was meant to be an act of, if not absolution then penance, hell, probably even capital punishment. But he didn't die so now what? it's just...purgatory for him?
Adding to that, he's supposed to be the 'next' Gojo Satoru? Perceived that way for his power alone? Admired or even looked up to, in some respects? How laughable. How cruel.
Pressured to live up to that mantle, when he already has such a hollowed out sense of self, I suspect being valorised that way is a further type of torturous erosion. But I also know Higuruma isn't the type to permit himself to wallow in such self-pity for long; ironically in a way that makes him resemble Satoru, he won't let reputation define who he is. So, I don't think that bothers him as much.
The real challenge is finding out how to operate in a new system, above or outside the laws he once upheld, in a way that's aligned to his fundamental values, to preserve some version of his old self. Now he's in a job where he can make the call to kill curse users, at his own discretion? Who's going to question his judgement, besides himself? What's the line between vigilante justice and divine retribution?
So, I honestly don't know if Higuruma can even adhere to those same strict ethical codes he had before, how much his basic sense of right and wrong has shifted or will shift due to the nature of his new work.
Which is all to say, I wonder now if maybe the appeal I see in Higuruma isn't exactly steadfastness at all, but flux instead; that is, the seemingly contradictory responsibility and impetus of self-determination, through the construct and malleability of moral choices. If there is anything consistent, any proof which makes him an unquestionably principled character, perhaps it would be the very questioning and interrogation of which of his actions are right and fair, a thorough self-examination. If I love Nanami for his stalwart certainty, strangely I'm equally drawn to Higuruma for his rigourous scrutiny, his so-called "uncertainties", how he holds space for...not doubt, but other perspectives and possibilities. And how he finds his way through that maze of multiplicities, whether he's stumbling or striding, I want to accompany him on that journey. Goodness, restraint, mercy...none of these are foregone conclusions with him; that's what makes him so enticing to me.
also yall seen that nose of his? sheesh
anw obvsly can't stop yapping about them my inbox is open if anyone wants to yak about how they will fold you in half are so unique
#higuruma hiromi#nanami kento#jujutsu kaisen#also thinking about how Jujutsu society appears to have a lack of infrastructure for criminal reforms#could Higuruma pioneer institutions/systems for rehabilitation (himself being a beneficiary of them?) like a lab rat#right now it's just some gang monopoly type shit where they hire you if they can't stop you??#idk interesting stuff to sandbox in fics...#sandsorghum

SVSSS AU Post Canon Time Loop. Warning: people dying a lot and gore.
~(O-O)~
One, two. The first times came as a surprise. Between a breath and the next; dropped tea cups shattering. Their shocked eyes meeting, barely widening enough to expose blood shot whites, before the rippling wet sound of metal into viscera filled the stilling air. Like flowers, red bloomed on green, on white, soaked through black. They were but puppets falling from cut strings, their glass eyes staring accusingly at the coming dawn. Three, four. A little faster, a little more refined in our response. The first bodies to fall crushing the delicate stalks of grass beneath them, were not their own. Their attackers staining the visage with their rot. An ever growing expansion with no end in sight. A shining sword glare pierces through bone. Movement to his left, his companion falling lit my the gentle morning glow, before a blinding pain to his eye. Then black. Five, Six. Curls blowing in the wind as demonic Qi rose, several demons cut down. Zheng Yang singing as it dispatched three, four attackers in a row. The edge of the blade shining red in the harsh midday light, his robes twirling around his body with each nimble twist. He turns his back towards the sight, hope forming in his heart. An arrow shot towards his eye blocked, a sword glare cast, slicing head from body. In an instant comes a familiar sound, his husband's voice releasing a death knell of a gasp. Before him; a white lotus painted red, the delicate mist raining from a still beating heart. Twelve, Thirteen. It all started a few day’s earlier, at the reminder of a certain upcoming plot point. The mating migration of the Silk-Winged Butterfly-Hawk, a once in a century event wherein the said birds left the hidden realm the predominately resided in to dance above the great Eastern Lotus Lakes.
- He dodges a strike to his side, his back hitting his husband’s. One by one they slaughter those circling them. A hand seal summoning a thousand lotus petals to rip through flesh, peppering strangely corroding skin. The moons soft glow beamed down on them, their hands slickening with heat and silver reflecting blood-
A hint to his husband later and they were packed and ready for their trip. Sure they could have had Mobei-Jun teleport them there, but it was about the journey AND the Silver-Winged Butterfly-Hawk mating migration destination! It was to be a leisurely bit of travel, he and his husband, stopping just a few times along the way. So imagine his surprise when he came across his favourite Shidi just two days into their trip!
- The beats of thousands of wings taking off, hundreds of birds scattering to the sky. Brilliant white robes flaring against the waters' glare. Cheng Luan glowing silver, fuelled by it’s user’s potent spiritual energy struck out in a shining ripple. His strikes flow like a wave, his form strong and ceaseless under the barrage that assailed him. The War God and his Soaring Phoenix -
His dedicated Shidi had been travelling in the area as part of a mission for the sect. There had been sightings of strange phenomena, and stranger creatures appearing in the area surrounding the Lotus Lakes. While Liu Shidi hadn’t seen anything of the sort himself, he was concerned about their safety. Or well specifically his Shixiong’s, although Shen Qingqiu did have a plan to change that. Well, the outline of a plan, more of a partial kind of well… it was a work in progress! So, this information was perfect! If there was indeed issues in the area it would be remiss of Shen Qingqiu to not survey the area himself as an immortal cultivator, and he couldn’t just leave Binghe, plus his Shidi was already on it so joining them would be no problem! Perfect.
-Liu Qingge parry's a strike, his sword burying itself to the hilt. The wound festers red and black around the blade, the skin pulsating as it seemingly climbed up its’ surface. Trying to tug the blade free was fruitless, as if it was being consumed by the deforming mass beneath him. He swings both the blade and the body stuck to it to block the blow from his front. He can't block the blow that impales his side, nor could he stop the blow to his throat. Thrown from his feet he lands in the lake, sinking beneath the silver water. Bubbles form as his body thrashes in his death throes. White stained red, petals crushed beneath his submerging form. The stain spreads; the bubbles stop.-
It’s fun travelling with them both, yes his husband and Liu Qingge fight like cats and dogs, but on Binghe’s side he practically playing! It’s enrichment!
“Shen Qingqiu, control your husband!” The red flush spreading across his Shidi’s face was rather fetching, he could see why his husband liked causing it… and well, it’s not bullying if his Shidi likes it. The satisfaction points speak for themselves! Though admittedly they are much, much higher when he’s the one teasing his Shidi, a gain however is a gain!
“Liu Shishu just can’t handle losing to this one, maybe Shizun should kiss his wounds as a consolation prize~” A teasing sneer spreads across Binghe’s face as he gloats, a sneaky little glance towards this husband follows. Ah Binghe, you’re coming across too strong! We talked about this, be more gentle! Treat him like a skittish cat!
“Ah Shidi, Binghe’s only teasing.” He raises his fan to cover his face, coyly glancing at his Shidi from behind it, “After all, I’ll only kiss your wounds if you win.”
“Y-You- Shameless!” Yes, he did so love the time they spend together.
-Time after time, one after the other, the grief never fades. The deaths will haunt his mind forever, a permanent scar across his psyche. Will he ever be able to close his eyes without seeing Qingge cut down? His husband gasping for air? His own limbs severed? Yet the hoard encroaches. A never ending onslaught.
"Husband! Behi-" Pain tearing through his spine, an arc of gore glowing in the moonshine. Red blood, black blood. It doesn’t end.
3̵̨̲̰͉̤͓͓̜̯͉͈̕̕͜͜0̶̧̛̝̭͈̤͕͇͙̩̠%̷̞̦̈́̄͆̓̕ Thirty four, Thirty FiVe. His lungs were screaming. Every block, and lunge, and slash, and parry exhausting him to the bone. All he could taste was rust and ash, Qingge fell silently a breath, an incense stick, a shi chen, ago. His body a shield again this master's blunder. He can barely lift his sword, his meridians felt almost burnt from the power cloying the air. A sickeningly wet squelch, Binghe's roar faltering to a whimper as his body hits the rocks. Another demon down, or a cultivator? Bodies falling, falling. He can’t, he can’t. Two red moons fill the sky, water fills his lungs. [User seems to be struggling with this Mission! >_< Poor showing from host! Well User can always retry!! 500 B-points!] [Y/N] [Y]
6̶̠͠0̵͇̐%̶̆͜
FiFty SeveN. He's drowning in blood. Was it Binghe's arm he was holding? It must be, Shidi was dragging him. Somewhere. Hmmm, the shouting is getting closer, and Qingge's breaths sounded quite wet! Ah! He's coughing! Well better out than in, Shidi, ah it's... Dripping. Here, Shixiong will wipe it away... Why... Tears? Ah Shidi looks so!! So!!! If this master wasn't married! Ah Wait we...Well maybe Binghe will... Here Shidi hold on to Binghe for this one a moment. Why are you giving me that look? Ah you're crushing me! For someone so lithe looking you're really quite heavy! Ah, it's quite- Shidi... Liu shidi.. you... Please keep coughing please you're too quiet. Please I can’t... It's tOo quiEt it’s toO [User seems to be running low on B-points. User has 427 B-points remaining! Luckily User 0002 can use his VIP to reduce the cost to 400 B-points for the next attempt!!] [Y/N] [Y] FIFTY EIGHT. Not just demons, not just cultivators. No, of course not. It was him. His fault. Who else could it be? Only he had the power, only he had the will. Only he had the golden finger, the halo, the fucking audacity! But there was something wrong. Glowing red eyes, skin twitching, shifting, like textures not loading in. His voice crackling, modulated.
"Ah S̸͕̑ḫ̴̅ĭ̶̟z̶̡̏u̵͇͂n̵͓͝~ you thought that s̸͍͠e̴͋ͅà̸̗l̵̰͠i̷͓͝n̵͎͑g̵̜̉ this world from me would be so simple? There is nowhere you could run, no world you could jump to, that I would be u̵͚͊n̷̜͆ä̶̢́b̸̞̊ḻ̷͌ě̷̤ to follow. So please, just submit, this Junshang will treat you well."
“go… fuck… yourself..” Spitting words like spitting blood, the ringing of bells…. No… sirens blaring in the skies.
The monster’s ribs cracked and spasms, a twisted knot of glossy black bone and gently pulsating red wires. An artificial monstrosity. What had he done to himself, to gain access to this world? Qingge sprawled in a heap, a black puddle spreading beneath him, Xin Mo sheathed like a grave marker in his back. His husband split throat to navel, his body failing to knit itself back together, strangled gurgles bubbling in his throat. A hoard of demons, no… cultivators? They surround him in twitching, glitching, grinning masses. Their distorted faces all corrupted copies of his own. This time its his own blade that takes his life. The howling, glitching screams of rage following him into the dark.
“Y̷̯͛o̸͇͆ǔ̷ͅ'̴̗̐l̵̦̓l̷͍͠ ̵̜̂b̷͙́e̷̟̊ ̴̱͆m̵͚̈́í̵̲ǹ̷̻e̵̛͚ S̷̝͠h̴̭̔e̵̺͝n̶̆͜ ̵̳̏Ỳ̴̻ü̷͇a̷̤̔n̴͈̅!̴̼̐”

Hi! Check this out

I was thinking abt the wizard of the ripples and remembered that Shuuichi (22) made a comment about having to get used to right-hand traffic even though he'd supposedly already been living in the states for quite a while since Mary said she let him go there to study and he got citizenship as well.
In the UK you can apparently apply for a provisional driver's license at age 15, but you can't actually start physically driving until you're 17.

Shuuichi is still 15 by the time they leave the UK, which means he wouldn't have been legally allowed to drive yet (then again, I don't know much about Britain. Maybe over there you don't need to have passed at least the theory test, which can take a months-long wait to even find a spot to attempt, in order to be allowed to drive with an instructor/family member).

Anyway <3 This can only mean that Shuuichi drove illegally back in the UK <3 Which is why he says he needs to "get used to" right-side driving <3
In my heart he used to drive Shuukichi to school, and if anyone tried to ask him if he was even legal he'd speed away <3
Alternatively this is because Shuukichi kept getting kidnapped and Mary bought Shuuichi a car so he could keep up with the kidnappers and get his brother back on his own (average Akai family member reaction)
#Thank you Cassidy for mentioning the possibility of baby Shuukichi getting kidnapped every other day#Beautiful headcanon I'm incorporating it into my beliefs system#Can yall tell I love making stupid observations that have no actual bearing on the main plot <3#Also I should write the whole Shuuichi gets a car bc Shuukichi keeps getting kidnapped thing. It sparks joy#my sandbox now#yapping time#dcmk#detco#detective conan#the fucking akai family#akai shuichi#haneda shukichi

i can never be a real star wars fan because fundamentally i am so bored by Light Side vs Dark Side shit. i am so bored by even the concept of a Dark Side. every time star wars starts to do something even vaguely interesting to me with the force they walk it back almost immediately which makes me think it's me thats the problem and not star wars. simply not for me i guess
#any magic system that has dualistic Sides to it that are clearly The Good One and The Bad One bores me to death#it implies by its very nature a universal morality or even universal categories of thought/action#i dont like it.#andor rules because the force isnt mentioned at all#<- there are other reasons andor rules#the things i enjoy about these movies are mostly like. the fact that its a big expansive fantasy world with intricate politics#its a fun sandbox to play in but i couldnt give a shit about spaceships going pew pew or laser swords#so again like. probably not for me

misc schooling headcanons because bulk anon got us chatting about it
To the surprise of no one, I, the art student, am most interested in examining how Alternia's fascist dystopia would affect the advent of "high/low class" art (the distinction of which is in itself a means of suppressing marginalized voices)
#headcanons#genuinely. one of my favorite things about alternia as a sandbox is that like#the caste system we're given can be analogous to a lot of different forms of oppression. depending on context#like it's never felt like a 1:1 'here's an allegory for specifically racism'#like. OBVIOUSLY we can and should draw the comparison#obviously#but it doesn't start and end there

What kind of games do you like?
I have a feeling you like shooters, and you say your favorite game is CoD, but it’s actually like Splatoon or smth.
(I’m not bias)
I'm actually more partial to sandbox and story-driven games. My favorite of all time is Minecraft, and I just recently finished playing Still Wakes the Deep. Really excellent game, Unreal Engine 5 looks so good, and the voice acting was amazing! I do love me a good horror game.

some people will just never be able to get into a thing because of a single bad experience. it’s not as easy as “give it a try”/“give it a chance”.
this is about m¡necraft.
picture this. 2016. the first time i tried it was only because my friend wanted me to. the lag on my Weapon of a laptop (derogatory) was not just 1fps, it was one frame per every few seconds. i could not work the controls for the life of me and just kept going up unintentionally. that was also how i found out my eyes don’t do well with all the squares and got my first migraine ever from the eyestrain effect. had to go to work later, it was an outdoors job and using my arms while migrained always makes it 150% hurt more.
so yeh i don’t like funney meme block game
#i also do not function without an objective programmed into me.#these sandbox i think theyre called games could not be less For Me.#clear and simple objective? ‘GET THAT FUCKIN GUY OR THING’ on it mate let’s go#don’t have that? i will just stand there like O_O#no hate to the game im talking about btw it’s great just not compatible with my system#<- both literal And one of my robot identity malfunction euphemisms#aw sweet free leadendeath lore

Can The Sun Rays Be Created By The Gravitational Waves Motions Energies?
or
or
or
or
My theory (the hypothesis)
The Sun Is A Phenomenon Created By The Planets Motions
The Sun Is NOT Doing Nuclear Fusion To Produce Its Rays- instead- The Planets Motions Energies Total Is Used To Produce The Sun Rays
The sun is a phenomenon created by the planets motions – the sun is created after all planets creation and motion – the sun is a phenomenon and its life and death depends on a cycle-means- after this sun death another sun will be created for the solar system
(No Planet Moves By The Sun Gravity– Newton is wrong)
The Sun Rays Production Machine Details
The Sun Rays Are Produced By The Gravitational Waves Motion
The Proof
This Is Extraordinary: Gravity Can Create Light, All on Its Own
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/this-is-extraordinary-gravity-can-create-light-all-on-its-own/ar-AA19YL5d?ocid=hpmsnHYPERLINK "https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/this-is-extraordinary-gravity-can-create-light-all-on-its-own/ar-AA19YL5d?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=620db4352aa943e2b454919a7b724604&ei=83"&HYPERLINK "https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/this-is-extraordinary-gravity-can-create-light-all-on-its-own/ar-AA19YL5d?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=620db4352aa943e2b454919a7b724604&ei=83"cvid=620db4352aa943e2b454919a7b724604HYPERLINK "https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/this-is-extraordinary-gravity-can-create-light-all-on-its-own/ar-AA19YL5d?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=620db4352aa943e2b454919a7b724604&ei=83"&HYPERLINK "https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/this-is-extraordinary-gravity-can-create-light-all-on-its-own/ar-AA19YL5d?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=620db4352aa943e2b454919a7b724604&ei=83"ei=83
This new article tells - the gravitational waves can move by high velocity motion and can produce A Light Beam– means- the light beam can be created by high velocity motion.
I claim the Sun Rays Are produced by this method and the Sun is NOT Doing Nuclear Fusion to produce its rays.
Shortly- The Sun Rays Are Produced By The Gravitational Waves Motion Energy And No Nuclear Fusion Is Used For The Sun Rays Production.
There are relativistic effects in the solar system proves a high velocity motion is found in the solar system- that supports the article discovery- means- because the gravitational waves move by high velocity– this motion causes to create the relativistic effects which effect on the planets data- and this high velocity motion causes to produce the light beam (The Sun Rays)
(I prove the relativistic effects are found in the solar system in POINT NO.5)
Conclusion No.1- The article changes the light beams production machine from (The Sun Nuclear Fusion) into (The Gravitational Waves High Velocity Motion) – that disproves Immediately The Sun Nuclear Fusion Theory
The Gravitational Waves Are Produced By The Planets Motions Energies and NOT by The Sun Gravitational Field- Moreover - The Sun doesn't create a gravitational field- this fact I prove it here by many major proves (Point NO.1)
Conclusion No.2- My theory tells (The Gravitational Waves Are Produced By The Planets Motions Energies And Not By The Sun Gravitational Field)
This theory changes the sun rays source of energy- in place of the sun mass which is used in (the sun nuclear fusion) to produce the sun rays-
The fact is that- the planets motions energies total is used as the source of energy to produce the sun rays-
Means
The Light Beam Production Machine And Source Of Energy Are Changed Prove That The Sun Nuclear Fusion Theory Is A Fake And Wrong Theory.

Feeling very loved and appreciated by my players after a very successful first leg of a transatlantic equivalent sea journey for the party!
I've been prepping for this portion of the campaign specifically for about 2 weeks using Jybe-Ho! Using Sailing Vessels in Tabletop RPGs by Steven Woods (I bought it through DrivethruRPG for I think like 5 bucks) and my party, which includes 2 irl marine scientists, really seemed to enjoy the realism it provided!
I will say, with the book itself being 125 pages, using several other resources to create tables for the wind and weather to interact with the sails, and the prerequisite reading for the book itself (it's like 5 chapters of an irl sailfreighting book that while not required is interesting and helpful), there was a ton of reading involved, and not a small amount of independent research about ships on the side. But if anyone is interested in providing their players with a realistic, hands-on approach to sailing the seas, I cannot recommend Jybe-Ho! enough.
#Final note being that while my campaign is being run as a sandbox adventure in dnd 5e#this resource as well as the majority of the other ones I've used can be used alongside pretty much any rule system#I've got so many tables as well if anybody would be interested in saving themselves a small ampunt of the legwork!

There is no way for me to explain why this moment delights me so much to someone who has not played a game like this. Just-so many systems seamlessly interacting. So much chaos. You can ride the deer-you can get hit by lightning-game animals that have been hit by certain heat based attacks can get automatically cooked. It just all falls together
And an Evermean is there.
#totk#legend of Zelda#game clip#loztotk#game clips#i want to show this to my nongamer family members but I'm sure it would just be visual noise to them#they don't have the context to understand how things are happening within and without the player's control#and no basis to understand how moments like this are just elegant piles of open sandbox systems falling together in seamless chaos

no because how can maki catch a bullet point blank and then be slower than... a punch
I mean she. she's a sorcerer. clearly some of what she's got going on is Sorcerer Rules Don't Abide By Normal Physics.
this is. about as much a gotcha. as going "well what the FUCK is QUANTUM TUNNELING then a BOWLING BALL can't just DECIDE THAT IT CAN TELEPORT THROUGH A WALL, BOWLING BALLS DON'T TELEPORT THROUGH WALLS TAKE THAT" well in the case that the bowling ball is the size of a proton it. uh. can bc quantum rules apply instead of classical rules, and it's where they interact at the boundaries that you get weird cool shit and fun technology and realize just how bullshit our world actually is
she's got some Sorcerer Stuff going on, the Sorcerer Physics applies there, whatever's happening can't be perfectly modeled by a classical understanding of the world, it's not that much weirder to catch a bullet and not a punch than for bowling balls to randomly teleport through walls
#and I *KNOW* that she does not have enough cursed energy to really be technically considered a sorcerer on her own#but heavenly restriction IS sorcery bullshit so it gets to fall under sorcery physics rules#also y'all I'm mostly here to rant about physics and have a good time and like.#mildly feel like world that don't go hard sci fi with how their magic system works but also don't fill in that corner#leave a sandbox and that sandbox is where I like to play!!! bc I find the implications COOL!!!!!#there is nothing I'd love to be more than a physicist in a world that has just discovered magic going#'okay how the FUCK do we model this and does this make a universal theory of everything more possible or less'#'how many more fucking symmetry groups do we have to impose to try to get Magic Force in there too'#like! I'm just here to have fun!#and one of the things about having physics fun in a system that wasn't designed to be hard physics is that you're playing with hypothetical#and DEFINITELY not canon nor are you using canon for its intended purpose#but it's still fun!

Had a chance to try out Twilight 2000, by the same publisher that did Mutant (of Year Zero fame) and Tales from the Loop.
I had a lot of fun! I think that Twilight 2000 is like, a hyperspecific type of game that I can't recommend to basically anyone without giving them the full rundown, but I think for the very specific thing that it does, it does it really well and I think it really hits the vibe it's going for.
Two big criticisms off the bat - one, the rulebook is laid out kind of badly, and NEEDS some sort of easy-reference sheet for things like basic rolling, ammo dice, etc. There are 3rd party reference sheets made by some rando that help out, but they're still extremely cluttered and are only useful for very specific things.
And two, the politics are just abysmally stupid. Reading through the alternate history of the setting is astonishing just how completely divorced from reality it is, and it's just the most ridiculous way to do a completely normal premise for this type of game. Like, the Red Alert series (including RA3) has a more coherent timeline built on better analysis.
That being said, it's pretty easy to ignore the politics, because the actual playable part of the ttrpg really doesn't care much about whether Bill Clinton would roll over and let the Soviet Union invade Poland and Finland (noted dove Bill Clinton who never famously intervened militarily in Eastern Europe). It's still stupid, and reading through the first chapter of the GM's rulebook gives me a headache, but again, it's not really necessary to the game itself.
The actual rules of the game are heavily focused around combat, and the resulting infections and dying of dysentery two weeks later. I joke, but seriously, this game takes bullet wounds extremely seriously, and that's something that's kind of exciting. There's a level of lethality that's extremely unusual for such a granular game - it's very possible for combatants to be taken out of the fight by a single bullet (as happened in our combat). And of course, once someone has suffered an injury, they don't just have to recover HP, they have to worry about infections, and recovery times, and if they've suffered Critical Damage they may be permanently disabled or dying.
And there's something really nice about that because it really changes the approach - I know that there are a lot of people on here talking about OSR and other similar rule systems that incentivize players not to just charge into combat the way that DnD does - there's no challenge rating or power level, even a child with a cobbled together pipe gun can kill a fully armored veteran GI.
Our session was really interesting because we got the drop on the opponents and basically deleted two of them instantly, before reinforcements arrived. My character was standing out in the open and two separate shots whizzed right by him and made his life flash before my eyes. And it was exciting! It was a hell of a lot of fun to know that I had set things up poorly, and this guy was seconds away from dying because he failed his chance to intimidate the enemies into walking away.
It was also fun because since combat is so scary, and lethal, it's REALLY rewarding to win one. We incapacitated or killed 3 people, and found a huge treasure trove because we could loot them and the surroundings. Our GM was like 'this seems like a crazy amount' and I was like, yeah, it IS, and also we faced down FOUR GUYS WITH RIFLES for this.
There's a big oregon trail type aspect to the game too, where a lot of the game's narrative is about traveling through the fighting and trying to survive, hunting for food, searching for clean water, avoiding radiation from nukes, etc. And I think that that's where a lot of players will fall off the fastest - I think it's one thing to get shot by a guy with a gun and lose your character, and another for a sudden squall to put out your campfire, give everyone hypothermia, and slowly kill your character over two weeks because there aren't any medical supplies to reverse the pneumonia.
But also I think it's very STALKER-esque, and I'm reserving judgment on it because we didn't actually get to that point - I think that my reflexive thought is that that side of the gameplay is going to suck, because I haven't looked into any of the GM materials so I don't know how much detail goes into exploring a given space. It's like, I think in abstract walking into a place and exploring SOUNDS fun, but in practice it requires a lot of finely crafted description AND also requires the player to be able to exercise agency. It's not particularly interesting in a ttrpg to get a short story about how you walked into a cabin and found some rats, and it's not particularly fun to go 'wow that was some incredible scene setting, I will now roll 1d6 and move on forever'.
But that being said, I'm looking forward to playing more of it because it's not DnD, and I'm looking forward to playing more of it because I think that it's a breath of fresh air to play a game that knows exactly what it's trying to be. I'm still not sure I know exactly what it's trying to be, but I do feel like I've got a good handle on it, and that the game seems pretty focused on a specific type of play, and so far is delivering on it.
I do think that I'm really struggling in my head to come up with a story that this game specifically does well - again, it feels kind of like STALKER, but it specifically doesn't have anything supernatural (or any monsters); and it's very sandbox-y, which means that there isn't much direction in the actual rulebooks as to what the PCs should be doing. It's just like, this game really doesn't feel like it's built for a group of soldiers behind enemy lines trying to stop a nuke launch or whatever, it really does just feel like oregon trail where the goal is 'just kinda keep going until you all either die or you make it out'.
And y'know, I think that you CAN use the rules of this game to do something a little more engaging, but it just feels like one of those DayZ, Rust, project zomboid, type games that are just there for people to fuck around and make their own fun in, and that's great? I guess? But it does leave me, the same way that games like Rust do, going 'so what are we DOING here'. And specifically in the sense of like, I'm happy to play it, and I think there's a lot of fun to be had, but the actual RULES aren't doing any lifting in terms of creating reasons to play the game. Maybe there are published modules that give a little more direction, but I'm pretty sure I have most of the official published library for the game, and I think that it's either putting SO much work on the GM to keep the game from feeling bland and lifeless, or it's really just built for preppers.
#but y'know#I was happy to get to try something new#and it's always fun to have these sorts of simulationist games#I think as a base system there's some promise#I could see myself running a STALKER style game in this system#but I think that it's very barebones#lots of granular rules about dying from being shot#and not a lot of stuff to support the GM#it really feels like the culture around it is 'well it's a sandbox so let the players just wander'#and one. I just don't believe that that's a good style of play if you don't have a lot of well defined things to find in the world#and two. again it really feels like it caters to people who like to wander around and shoot bandits#you could do a Metro Exodus type story but again. you need to have a well-populated world
