Siats

Siats is a controversial large theropod from the Late Cretaceous of North America, named after a man-eating monster of Ute mythology. Thanks to the uncertain nature of its fossil remains, it has been classified as a megaraptoran, allosauroid, and tyrannosaurid at various stages of research. Siats as an allosauroid would show that this group survived all the way to the Late Cretaceous before ceding to tyrannosaurs as the apex predators of North America. At 12 m in length and 4 t in body mass, it would certainly be the top predator in its habitat. But until further fossil evidence is discovered, the debate goes on regarding its phylogenetic affinities.

First of all, I love you Letters, thank you for the ask.

Okay so, lore behind We All Lie Amongst The Thorns and Survival Is A Team Sport. I have done proper wip summaries on my intro post here, but I'd be happy to go into more detail.

We All Lie Amongst The Thorns is a fairy tale retelling. The main character is my version of Sleeping Beauty. The story starts on her presentation ceremony (the day about a week after her birth when she is presented to the public) where a fairy from each discipline will bless her, except for the divination fairy, who will read her future. After the blessings are given the divination fairy has her vision and says that she will be cursed to fall into a deep sleep on her sixteenth birthday, and that this curse will bring about the kingdom's downfall. The king, terrified of losing his power, sends the newborn baby deep into the woods, far away from him. And thus the story begins.

Survival Is A Team Sport starts out on a beautiful sunny summer day, the main character Camryn's birthday. He and his friends are on the way to his house after school to celebrate when suddenly the sky goes dark and strange things start dropping from the sky. The kids' path home is blocked, so they take cover in a nearby garage. The sounds of chaos continue throughout the night, and when they finally peek out in the morning, everything has changed.

It’s Monday photo time! My dad and I are went to town to get ourselves a new hair cut 💇🏽‍♂️ so I won’t able to have my hair grow longer until two months, but at the same time, I was also got a new Jurassic World toy from after release of Dominion, this new dinosaur toy is Moros intrepidus, which is a ancient member of tyrannosauroid theropod that lived in late Cretaceous Utah, the same time as large basal avetheropod Siats meekerorum. I could happy add to the collection of JW toys, for now this is personal life as a collector. Tonks isn’t worried about Arthur. They’ve met, several times, and he’s always hurried and distracted and warm. She’s not sure he’s figured out that she’s dating his son yet, but Percy doesn’t really tell people things.

Case in point.

“Crouch is missing?” she frowns. “Should we do something about that? Should I do something about that? Missing people are supposed to be jurisdiction, more or less.”

He shakes his head. “The going missing is pretty standard, it’s the length that’s getting a little concerning. If he’s not back by the time the Triwizard Tournament is over it might be worth looking into. I’m just saying don’t mention my long hours to Mum.”

“Right,” she says uneasily. Percy’s mother. Who’s a Prewett and notoriously not as easy going as her husband.

“You don’t have to come to lunch with my mother if you don’t want to,” he says, and sounds like he means it. “She’s just going to criticize me for thirty minutes and not even really mean it and she might do the same to you. Don’t take it to heart. She doesn’t remember half of what she complains about.”

Tonks wonders how often Percy changed something in response to one of his mother’s throwaway comments before he realized that she hadn’t noticed and hadn’t cared. “Don’t be ridiculous. Of course I’m coming. What color should my hair be?”

She’s expecting him to say blonde or brown or even to match the infamous Weasley and Prewett red, but he kisses her cheek and says, “Her favorite color’s blue.”

She doesn’t imagine blue hair is going to endear her to Molly at all, but Percy knows she prefers something fun and vibrant and isn’t asking her to do anything else, even for meeting his mother.

Tonks locks the door to Crouch’s office with a wave of her hand and sees how long she can distract Percy from his work with something a little more than a kiss on the cheek.

Right now her personal record is eight minutes and thirteen seconds, but she has a good feeling about this one.

I finally finished binding Survival is a Talent Volume 1 (covers books 2-4). I started this back in 2021 and just never put the cover together till now.

I love this fic and all the wonderful fanart that I was able to include in the bound book. I even found marigold and iris paper to use for the outside and inside covers :)

I can't wait to do volume 2 (which will basically just be the chapters that cover order of the phoneix) and eventually volume 3 (and probably 4) whenever @shanastoryteller finishes writing the series!

Lulu also writes wolfstar microfics that don’t follow a storyline, which is great bc when i’m catching up on days, i’ll be reading the intense jegulus scene and then scroll up to read wolfstar fluff

This is true, he's parents don't let him and his friends all agree this is probably for the best.

No, I gave him some of the nervous ticks I have and that's one of the few I've never done.

Zac

Zac is a dog person.

Zac is in fact a dog person. He loves dogs.

He does but he's trying to stop because he finds it embarrassing so whenever he realizes he's doing it he'll quickly hide his hands behind his back like a guilty child or something.

Alec forgets to eat sometimes.

Alec's a grazer with a tiny stomach, so it tends to look like he skips meals but he actually does eat plenty, it's just scattered throughout the day

He's only like 18 so I'd hope so?

Jasper

Jasper hacks their stats in every video game they play.

No, he's got too strong of morals for that.

Jasper has a diary that they write in with a glittery gel pen.

He does have a diary. Cannot confirm nor deny existence of glittery gel pen, but it probably is his utensil of choice.

Jasper has a pet squirrel.

Jasper would be afraid of the squirrel, and if he tried to befriend it it would probably bite him.

Larken

Larken has an incredible short-term memory but an awful long-term memory.

This is actually pretty true. Unless it's like an important core memory she'll probably forget it within a week.

Larken speaks only in meme refrences.

Larken's family lives completely off the grid and has no internet access, but honestly if someone were to introduce her to memes properly she would do it.

Larken is not good with social cues.

Eve

Eve has a roblox account.

Not only does Eve have a roblox account but she also bullies children on it.

Eve can play the piano.

Only because her parents forced her to learn.

Eve's least favourite subject in school was Gym.

“What’s going on with Percy?”

Kingsley looks ups from his paperwork to find Amelia looming over him. Not exactly a common occurrence, since he’s well over a foot taller than her. “Brooks?”

“Merlin, don’t speak to me about Percy Brooks,” she says, pulling a face. She’s the one who brought him up! “Weasley.”

He blinks several times, rolling through Arthur’s children until he lands on the appropriate redhead. A bit uptight, considering his parentage, but Molly can fret with the best of them up until she gets fed up and settles matters with her wand. “I could get Tonks in here, if you want.”

“Do they know each other?” she asks in interest. “They were in different houses, and a couple years apart.”

How does she know that? He knew that, but it was against his will. “Tonks is dating him. Or trying? I’m not totally clear on the specifics despite her best efforts.”

He hadn’t anticipated how much work it would take for him to dodge a trainee determined to complain to him about her love life. It speaks well of her future in the field, at least. Or poorly of his own abilities, but he’s fairly confident in those, so he’s comfortable giving her the credit here.

“Great, a harassment case waiting to happen for our department,” she says dryly.

He rolls his eyes. “The only person he’s complaining about it to is Tonks. Who takes it as encouragement. Which, considering the cause and effect, it very well might be.”

“That’s what I’m talking about,” Amelia says. “What’s what this kid?”

Kingsley is lost again. “Can you get a little more specific?”

“Crouch’s department has become efficient, and dare I saw, effective over the last couple months. It’s certainly got nothing to do to with Crouch, since he’s been useless for nearly a decade. The only thing that’s changed is Percy. Who attends every meeting, claiming Crouch sent him to take notes, and then memos and policy get signed and sent out of Crouch’s office when I know for a fact Crouch is too busy harassing me to do his damn job.”

He tries to avoid the obvious answer because it’s the most ridiculous. “You think it’s him?”

“Who else?” she returns.

Well. “Do you… want me to arrest him?”

“What good would that do?” she demands. “The department is operating smoothly for once. I want to know what his deal is. Is he loyal to Crouch? Plotting against us? Just really passionate about bottom thickness?”

Not according to Tonks.

Uhg.

If he was alone, he’d bang his head on his desk until he’s unable to remember what Tonks’s voice sounded like and then maybe he’d know peace.

“Everyone’s got to start somewhere,” he says. “You’re noticing. Maybe that’s what he’s after.”

“I’m noticing because I notice everything. He’s taking significant steps to ensure people don’t notice. How’s he supposed to get promoted that way? Or transferred?” She shakes her head. “He’s doing it for a reason. Do me a favor and find out.”

Why can’t she ask him something simple, like hiding a body or burying evidence?

Now he has to spend his lunch break listening to Tonks talk about her not-boyfriend.
