What's wrong with clones? what's wrong with me?
Dani was greatful for her mom, she was greatful that he was supportive and living when she first met him, and even after the fight she was happy that Danny didn't throw her away with hatred in his eyes, she would've understand it nonetheless, just imagine someone assaulting your DNA to make a copy of you? it was traumatizing or the both parties, based on experience.
But if it wasn't for Danny, she wouldn't be here at this place were she stands. It has been about 20 years since she was born, and her mom step backed from heroism and passed it down to her which she accepted with pride. Her mom deserves a break.
And without her she wouldn't be part of the Justice League, and wouldn't be meeting all this amazing people, they have loved dani and took care of her ever since she joined. and she was happy. what more could she ask for? well she was a bit lonely afterall.. and that was selfish of her, she already have her mom, her friends, what else could she even ask for?
__
Dani, Hero name Wraith, walked down the halls of the watchtower when she heard a ruckus in one of the meeting rooms, letting her curiosity get the best of her she took a peek in the room, where she found a bunch of Heroes surrounding a boy that looks a little too much like Superman. and Superman in the corner holding his head in stress? Agony? Dani doesn't know.
She stepped into the room, only for Wonder woman to notice her, She gave Dani a wave which she returned with a smile, she moved near Wonder woman in curiosity and asked: "What's going on? why's the Adults surrounding a kid?"
Wonder woman looked at her with a stare she didn't understand, before she answered. "He's a clone of Superman, we found him trying to kill the man, just last week, and this is the first time he's let out." She explained while pointing at the kid.
Dani let out a gasp of delight, "Really? Holy shit. I got to talk to the kid!" Before Diana could stop the girl she was already at the new clone's side, pushing the other heroes away.
The Clone angrly stared at the new person, infront of him. "What you'll interrogate me too?."
"What? Why would you think that?" Dani giggled as she circled the boy, her eyes darting back and forward to superman and the boy to see the similarities. "Ancients, you really look like Superman, what's wrong with you?"
"What do you mean by that?" The kid asked very confused.
"I mean you're healthy and fine, i don't get why the league is going haywire towards you." Wraith chuckled, as she floated upside down infront of the kid.
Silence embraced the room, as the sound of a steel chair echoed throughout the room.
"Didn't you hear what Wonder Woman said Wraith?" Superman walked big steps towards the two making other heroes take a step back, from the man of steel. "It's a clone."
"okay, Okay, Wait i feel i said something wrong?" Dani returned to her normal position, making sure she's not levitating upside anymore as she looked at older man infront of her in confusion. "What's the problem here?"
The room was quiet huh that was unusual with, there was a thick atmosphere that you can cut it with a knife.
"The problem? This is the problem." Superman angrily stated as he pointed at the kid, who looked ready to fight the man infront of him any second now.
"What? superman i don't get its just a clone and a child-" Wraith was cut off rudely. by the man infront of him.
"Ofcourse you don't get it, you don't get how it feels to be cloned, you don't get how traumatizing it is for your DNA to be stolen, That is not a child." Superman snapped, making Dani take a step back. "So stop acting like its a normal kid, that thing will never be like us, because its a mistake created by some lousy villain, who tried to stop and kill me, clones don't deserve love nor respect, and they certainly don't deserve families. Now Stop acting like you get it."
Silence, surrounded the room as Superman finished letting his anger out at Wraith who stared at him wide eyed confusion seen her face, she looked at her peers who only looked apologetic and those who looked down the floor and then there was batman
she shifted her gaze towards the, boy who she can see was trembling, The boy was crying. oh no. no. please don't cry.
"I get it." Wraith stated, keeping her ground, only babies cry she wasn't a baby now, she grew out of that phase.
She returned her gaze back at Superman who still was looking at her. it really looked like he didn't mean to snap at her. But that shit Hurt who knew he had it him, is this what Danny felt when he found out about her, was he in reality sick of her? no. No. Danny loved her, he said so himself.
"Wraith please no-" Wonder woman, called out trying not to get the girl in more trouble.
"No. I get it. I'm really sorry for you Superman, and how you got traumatized by some of your DNA getting stollen, I am really. But with all due respect you can't treat him like a thing, because he's a clone." Wraith spoke back, now more confident than ever. the kid perked up from this and raised his head, he was really crying.
"And what do you know about that? Wraith." Oh no Hero names, She knew she struck a nerve, Superman was back at being angry.
"What I know, is that you're right, clones don't deserve love and respect, clones don't deserve anyone because all they do is hurt and destroy." For a second everyone thought Wraith changed sides. Wraith glared at superman, he wanted her to agree with him, oh she'll agree with him alright. "Clones like me, don't deserve anything."
"What?"
Everyone in the room was shocked but to scared to speak, afraid to start something.
"Thank you, Superman. For showing me that I didn't deserve my mom, Because to be honest you're fucking right, all I did for my mom was pain and agony." Dani was now raising her voice, at the man infront of her.
"You're a clone?" Superman managed to ask, his eyebrows almost touching his hairline.
"Hell yeah, And you know what age he got me. Fourteen, He became my mom at the age of fourteen, he took care of me at the age of fourteen, he loved me like his own daughter at the age of fourteen" Wraith laughed out loud, tears threatening to stream down her face. "You know what's funny superman? I tried to also murder him, I tried to also kill my template. And yet he took me in, and said that it wasn't my fault. it wasn't my fault that i was born, It was never my fault, he comforted me as i cried to him about my other brothers who i watched slowly die and melt apart infront of my eyes, he didn't hate, he didn't isolate, he only loved and cared."
Wraith was now crying. as she gritted her teeth.
"Wrait-"
"you we're right. I didn't deserve my mom. if he had just killed me from the start, he would've been more happy and not worry about me, My mom is the kindest being in the world in my own eyes, and he'd done everything for me ever since he was fourteen." Dani looked down at the ground, with clenched hands. "I was born as a six years old, but in reality i was only two months old. it's funny how im the same age right now when my mom first had me. My body maybe 20, but my brain is 14, keep that in mind Superman."
She looked around her peers, but couldn't see anyone but her reflection in those glass walls, she's crying, she didn't want to cry. "You've been hating on that kid, but Superman let me remind you that kid." She looked at the child who was still sitting on the chair but now with a look of confusion, eyes red from crying. "Is only a few months old despite its physical appearance, you've been hating on a newborn baby, like a deadbeat dad, and that's just sad."
Dani can hear a snort in the background. She swore that sounded like her mom.
Superman looked defeated and guilty, Dani was tired she wanted to cry, in the arms of her mom, but she can't leave the other kid here, so she made a rash decision. "If you don't want him, I'll take him."
Protest engulfed the meeting room, but Dani didn't care, she passed Superman and headed towards the black haired kids, direction. "Wanna come with me?" she asked, while having her hand out for him to take.
The kid looked at her hand, before grabbing it. Dani smiled and summoned a portal, she took the kid with her, her mother's not gonna like this and she might take a break from JL a couple of months, Oh well its all worth it.

Moonlight
PAIRINGS:
Titans!Jason todd x reader
SUMMARY:
Bruce has taken in Jason Todd as his youngest son and the new robin some months ago, Bruce’s goddaughter also came back to Gotham after being away for a year.
Some months after meeting Jason she starts a friends with benefits relationship with him, suddenly Jason has to move to the Titans tower and two weeks later Bruce sends her too, but, why is Jason ignoring her and acting like he doesn’t know her and why does it get worse when Rose Wilson arrives to the tower??
A/N: in this story Dick and Jason will not have such a big age gap as they do in the show, Dick will be 23 while Jason will be 19, but for the sake of the plot it will, also ignore that there’s already a dc character called moonlight, also the powers I made up for her make no sense at all but we’ll have to deal with it.
TWS: slow burn, angst, blood, canon violence, mentions of death, anxiety, jealousy, friends to friends with benefits to enemies to lovers?, maybe death of a main character (haven’t decided yet) change of plot
Keep in mind that English is not my first language, I also know nothing about guns, human anatomy or fighting in the language so I'm sorry if I make a lot of mistakes

Superman by Eminem was playing as the car Bruce sent to get you from the airport approached the gothic styled manor you hadn't seen in a year or so, the way everything looked the same brought you a sense of comfort, you knew Dick wasn’t Robin anymore, you were really close to Dick and he had told you all about how Bruce was a bad father and how he didn’t want to become him, you understood him, although you couldn’t help but feel bad for Bruce, you knew he was trying his best and he may not have been the best father, but he was a great godfather, it probably was because he wasn’t 100% responsible of you, he didn’t have to teach you about emotions, life, problems, or shit like that, he just had to spoil you and talk to you, so it was probably easier for him.
As you grew closer to the manor you noticed that Bruce and Alfred were already waiting for you by the door with some guy, he looked a little bit younger than you, but not too much, you couldn’t see him very well from the distance, but he seemed to be in casual clothes so you assumed he lived here, he was probably another stray that Bruce took in after Dick left so you paid it no mind. Eventually you arrived to the mansion and you could cry, it had been a year since you had last seen Bruce and Alfred, it had been a year since your dad had died, he was the only parent you ever knew, your mom wasn’t a deadbeat who abandoned you or anything like that, but she wasn’t “normal” she had special abilities (which you also have) that you didn’t know were special until you showed them to a boy in kindergarten and made him cry out of fear, at that moment you didn’t get why the boy had cried when you just tried to show him how your hands could glow, you then got a long talk from your mom about how most people don’t have the same abilities as you, therefore you have to keep them a secret, otherwise people would be scared or even worse it would put you at risk because there were bad people who wanted those abilities for themselves. You learned to take the talk seriously when your mom got killed by some scientist who wanted to have her powers and it was all thanks to not hiding them too well, leaving your dad and yourself on your own.
The sound of the car’s door opening pulled you out of your thoughts, and you immediately started getting off the car, you started walking towards the entrance of the Manor and all of the memories came flooding back making you emotional, you approached Bruce and just crashed into him with a hug, he became stiff, but he tried to comfort you as you cried in his arms, you hadn’t seen him ever since your dad had died, you had ran away from your problems and went to Europe for a year thinking it would help, but it didn’t, you were completely alone at Europe, at least here in Gotham you had Bruce and Dick and Alfred, you weren’t completely alone, but over there you were, and it just made you realize how much you missed and appreciated them.
When you calmed down, you moved on to Alfred who looked just as neat as always and also hugged him tight, after all Alfred reminded you of a loving grandfather and always gave you comfort, Alfred pulled away and excused himself to bake your favorite desserts, just like he always did whenever you were sad, it all felt so familiar that you felt comfort for the first time in a year. After hugging Bruce and Alfred and breaking down you realized there was still a boy who probably didn’t know who you were and had to witness you being a mess as his first impression of you, poor boy probably would be really uncomfortable after seeing a stranger come into his house and break down while he just stood there, the thought of it made you feel embarrassed making the atmosphere really awkward as you just stood staring at each other not knowing what to do, or say, Bruce took on the tense atmosphere and started introducing you to each other in hopes that the tension would fade away. You learned that his name was Jason Todd and he had just gotten taken in a year ago, some months after you left for Europe, Bruce also told you about how he found him and how he was now the new Robin, Jason have you a short nod as his way of saying hi and then Bruce started telling him about you, he told Jason about your abilities and how you were the vigilante known as moonlight which made Jason look excited, Bruce seeing Jason’s reaction told you how he was a fan of Robin and Moonlight and it sparked a bit of pride inside of you, but then made you feel embarrassed as you realized you had probably disappointed the boy by showing him how weak you actually were.
After the introductions finished, Alfred came out telling you all to get inside and to let you go to your room and accommodate, which you thanked him, You loved Bruce and Jason seemed nice, but you were exhausted after flying and you just wanted to get some rest, Alfred guided you to your room as if you hadn’t bern there a thousand times and insisted on carrying your luggage for you even though you said you could handle it.
“Here we are Miss (Y/N), you already know where Master Bruce’s and my rooms are in case you need anything, and if you ever need Master Jason his room is the one that’s right in front of yours in Master Dick’s old room .”
You thanked Alfred who excused himself and went to the kitchen and you decided you were too tired to unpack and that you would do it tomorrow, so you took the book you were reading and your headphones out of your bag and laid down to read a bit, you were really tired and after some pages your eyes started to get really heavy and you felt yourself drifting off to sleep.

Sparks:Secret Origins(1983-1989)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
An experimental run that got made to try out what it would be like for Clark to adopt a kid and make them his sidekick, which ran for 66 issues
The unlucky lucky kid in question was Summer Kent/'Frankie Garcia' being his birth name given to him by the abusive Mayerlin Garcia and deadbeat Sebastián Garcia. One of his first memory's was seeing him for the first time at 3 years old and exchanging a wave and a smile with him and from that day on,'Frankie' became Superman's number one fan and after realizing his parents didn't actually love him and having no friends at school either thanks to 'her' tomboyishness, mixed afrolatina heritage and multiple undiagnosed neurodivergent disorders,he started dreaming he'd save him from them
On his 10th birthday and our intro to him,Lex killed his parents while on a rampage across the city in a giant Lexcorp robot by slamming them onto the side of a building so hard they died on impact and knocked 'Frankie' out so he could kidnap him to make him half Kryptofang, using the dna of the last surviving one that escaped Krypton just as Clark did and had hidden in Dominican Republic until Lex found it on a trip and had it killed to be used for experimentation.Kryptofangs were the kryptonian equivalent to dragons but with the add on of telepathy and considered culturally equal to regular kryptonians with a long history of allyship and community between them,a metaphor for Summer's biracial identity and Clark's black monoracial one
After three days at a Lexcorp lab,'Frankie's' greatest wish came true as Superman saved him and adopted him after some bonding when he brought him to his,Lois' and a baby Jon's apartment, their old house to collect their belongings and the Fortress of Solitude to gather Kryptofang info.Jimmy and Lana became his honorary uncle and aunt and Lana his homeschool teacher too since Clark and Lois pulled him out of public school to avoid him getting bullied and upon meeting Superman for the first time,'Frankie' turned into 'Summer' when asked for his name as he wanted nothing from his birth parents and choose his new name because that's the season he discovered Clark all that time ago.His sidekick name was 'Sparks',both because of his pyrokinesis and as a reference to his new family being sparks of hope in his life.Lex did a smear campaign against him to cover up what he'd done to him and it made Summer angrier, meaner and more violent than ever and earned the derogatory nickname 'Superpunk'(ofc Clark,Lois and Jimmy still did their best to combat it as reporters)
Sparks' gender was a mystery to the public and nobody dared to ask or make inappropriate speculations since his dad is y'know,Superman.Summer straight up demanded to help raise Jon and refused to give in to his parents nos so they let him have his way and taught him how to care for him.A year into their sidekick careers,Summer met Jason when Bruce and Clark brought them on a Justice League mission on the same day and they instantly butted heads because of having opposite personalities but by the end of the operation, they were best friends and the other's first friend and 'Basket case!''Bird boy!!' turned into 'Basket Case and Bird Boy' as affectionate nicknames and their duo name that kinda caught on.Summer was Jason's reconnection to blackness and latino heritage and he had mixed feelings on it by a complex childhood but he helped him really take pride in it like Clark and Lois did them
They did tons of 'normal' childhood things together in addition to superheroics and Summer flew to Gotham and Jason to Metropolis for hangouts on a regular basis.Clark asked Dick and Kory to mentor him and Summer started crushing on Dick on sight much to [Summer's] mortification because he couldn't hide his feelings in the slightest bit but he was never a pick me about Kory and instead had a healthy intergenerational friendship with her and also with Selina, which is where his love of cats comes from.Eddie was also a part of his friend group and them and Jason dubbed themselves 'The Magic Trio' and the only reason Eddie didn't hang out with them as much as they did eachother is Summer was exhausting himself to dangerous levels by flying to Hollywood regularly too and he had to beg them to stop for their own good.Summer developed more powers as the years went on,including infrared vision that turned his entire eyes hot pink, roaring and more dragonic body features that're retractable and used for gags sometimes.Summer's fear toxin vision is Jason and Clark dying in action and Jason's is Summer and Eddie deciding they never want to be his friend again, fueled by his 'the loser kid' status at Gotham Academy but also previous abandonment issues
Clark and Lois are the best parents Summer ever could and did ask for.Clark trained him throughly but never beyond his limits and always had snacks and a drink for him and Lois taught him to never back down no matter who tried to stop him and they both showered him in literally every love language and a secret sixth one:Chaos privileges. They let him do whatever he wanted as long as it didn't hurt anybody and he ran his mouth to everyone and everything, went anywhere he wanted if he had proper protection(like Jason,Eddie or an adult)and consumed any media he felt like with no judgement. This might've messed up some kids but Summer's 'special'(Read:Autistic with several additional mental shit and a kryptonian dragon hybrid). He calls them 'Papí y Mamí' and their nicknames for him are pretty much everything latino but the unique ones are 'Mi Luz Kryptoniana' from Clark and 'Verana' from Lois and Lois' canon adhd and dyslexia gave them a special connection like the kryptonian one
Summer finally had his bi awakening at 14 via Dick and Kory and called up Jason in panic so he could tell it to someone to face only for Jason to laugh hysterically in his face and Summer to scream pinkfaced at him to shut up and got his vegeance a few weeks later when Eddie turned out to be Jason's.The Magic Trio are autistic4autistic4autistic friendship realness and never got an official diagnosis because they found out by just googling shit together and also t4t4t4t but Jason and Eddie were early birds-Jason dosen't even really remember thinking he was a girl-while Summer was a painfully oblivious transmasc genderfluid and bigender egg with so much gender fuckery going on even two trans boy best friends,a t4t couple for parents AND fuckin' Dickkory for mentors didn't crack him.He was even goth punk!(The Superfam are all comrades /hj)
Jason used to help babysit Jon and had a pretty good relathionship with Clark and Lois too, them calling him 'Argonauta' and 'Curita' for his namesake.Summer'd hospitalized three of Lex's employes at this point but he's getting there /lh.Jason was positive influence on him with his happy go lucky attitude and softness, slowly making him more of an 'ideal' hero
When Jason was 15,he realized he'd fallen in love with Summer because Dick spotted it first and helped him realize it by comparing them to him and Kory and obviously he instantly entered denial mode because that's his best friend since they were 11 but it all adds up too much and denial turns into embarrasment turns into attempts at unspoken rizz.Jason uses the 'Shall i compare thee to a summer's day?' sonnet since Shakespeare is the only classical author Summer likes and he pretends to not be affected by it but internally he's blushing glowing but this is one among many to get him to make the first move and their relathionships grows even cuddlier thanks to it(including Jason diy'ing his own Sparks shirt to impress his anti-capitalist crush and creating a new slushie flavor all on his own that's cotton candy, berryblast and has chocolate and strawberry chips on top for them to share that becomes an official at Dairy Super)but Dick convinces him to ask Summer out to a Gotham Academy dance as a fullblown confession without much coersion needed
We all know what comes next but it's far from the end of Summer or Jason or their story! Here is a Summerverse Clois pic for your troubles♡

I was catching up on the current Superman comics and saw they reintroduced Lena into the mainstream universe! In this version, she’s Lex’s teenage daughter though. With Lex being a deadbeat dad, who never really raised her and kept her a secret from the world. But one thing that’s pretty cool is she’s stylized with a “Black Canary” t-shirt and ripped-jeans — while keeping her wit/sarcasm and distaste when it comes to interacting with Lex. The entire Superman family is current running what used to be LexCorp (now named Supercorp), including Kara in a high ranking roll, so I’m hoping the two of them interact soon!
That sounds fun! Does Lena look like our Lena or is she... yknow. Cough. Blonde?

I still think it’s funny how many iterations of Superman are like deadbeat dads when it comes to Kon because that’s so fucking funny. Imagine you wake up one day and you have a son made from your DNA mixed with your nemesis’s/ex’s DNA. Imagine you’re like a few months old and one of your dads, who is lauded as the most courageous, powerful, and revered men on the planet and you likely cannot escape people loving him, wants nothing to do with you. Imagine knowing both of these people and understanding that essentially Superman is beefing with a baby. Comedy gold

The sheer chaotic potential of Kon-El “Connor” Luthor, son of both Superman and President Lex Luthor…….
I think Kon should be a teen heartthrob giving exclusive interviews in cheesy magazines. I think there should be national headlines about a fistfight breaking out at the White House Thanksgiving dinner and demolishing several rooms. I think Kon should accidentally cause an international incident, push the world to the brink of war, and then save it
This is the Lex Luthor guide to beating xenophobia allegations:
Have an alien child
Call Superman a deadbeat dad
Say whatever the fuck you want about Superman with complete impunity
Like if he could arrange it for all of this to down while he’s on the campaign trail he’d be a shoo-in just based on sheer publicity

Clark divorcing Lois for Tim is something I didn’t know I needed.
Because how fucked up it is. Like the caped community would never expect it. Superman is the ideal that people strive to be even Bruce the paranoid man he is admits that Clark is almost a paragon of goodness. Like how bad would faith breakdown is *chefs kiss*
It’s Clark chasing a newly turned eighteen year old not because of morals but because he want no one to be able to take Tim away legally for being underaged and divorcing his wife of years and mother of his children.
It’s Lois being left blindsided by Clark and almost a slap in the face that one of the world greatest journalist unable to see what is happening with her own life until Clark breaks the news that he want a divorce immediately breaking their relationship and family like it’s nothing
It’s the caped community who break into sides. Lois and Clark were seen a couple goals and the ideal relationship to strive for it’s the disappointment that the most perfect relationship seen breaks apart anyway . For some Tim is not the innocent but the temptation who lead Clark astray for others Lois is a civilian not suited for the caped life or Superman as well as some who believe Clark is the one truly to blame for not being able to settle.
I mean Clark was a deadbeat dad to Conner in the early superboy comics but everyone turned a blind eye. Clark abandoning his wife for a younger model and creating a new life shouldn’t have come as that big of a surprise if they weren’t blinded by his facade.
It’s a betrayal and that is beautiful
oh for sure!! if clark left lois it would be completely out of the blue. people would be confused, concerned even. because it doesn't align with the 'character' of clark. it's not what they attribute or expect from him.
their reactions would probably grow worse when they realize that clark left lois for tim. and they realize that pretty quickly because clark makes no effort to hide or disguise it. he's visiting tim often, people see him texting tim, calling him.
and people know tim, distantly. tim is only really well known by very small circle of friends. friends who see this and are questioning ???? they're asking what's going on how this started, if clark really chose to leave his wife and kid for tim because that just looks bad.
it looks...scummy. it's just really bad taste, a father leaving his family to start anew with a much younger person.
from an outside perspective, it's an absolute shit storm. lois is someone who is so sure and certain of herself. but she's blindsided.
clark never behaved distant with her. he still smiled and laughed at her jokes, still teased her back. they'd just finished wrapping up a joint article and then he comes to her and tells her he wants a divorce very stright faced.
he's not cold with her, not cruel at all. he acts the exact same way as they always do and that hurts. he doesn't seem to understand why lois is upset and doesn't want to speak with him.
she doesn't know what she's going to tell jonathon. clark's parents are as shocked as she is. they get this furrow in their brows and when they ask clark why, what's going on. why's he doing this.
he tells them.
and lois doesn't know what to make of his response because martha and john look as bewildered as she does when she learns why her marriage has fallen apart.
tim is eighteen. tim. tim drake. bruce's third oldest son.
lois doesn't know what the feeling that bubbles up in her is but it makes her sick.
tim's birthday landed on the same day that clark asked her for a divorce. she remembered because she put up a fake smile the entire party while internally screaming why clark had waited until an hour before they left to tell her this.
a few heroes stop by her home. it's nice to know that clark's friends still care for her even while they're getting divorced. some of them are more visibly upset at her and clark's seperation than she is.
they ask her, prod her because heroes are nosy. clark is like that too.
and...lois regrets saying it. she's upset and she's hurt and maybe she's trying to assign blame to someone. she thought she outgrew her pretty and vindictive streak as a teenager but when someone asks her where clark is right now, that maybe they can talk to him she says-
"try tim drake's apartment."
she feels bad the instant she says it because tim...tim if anything is the victim here. he's eighteen, freshly an adult and getting pursued by someone his father's age. someone he thought he could trust, an adult that now admitted he harbors romantic feelings for him and waited until he was of age to divorce his wife and the thought fills lois with dread.
it fills her with horrible thoughts because if the legal age was something like 16 like it was in europe...would clark have gone after him when he was younger?
it spreads like wildfire. rumors get twisted, some of it paints tim in an unfair light. others list him as an innocent bystander.
people whisper about tim and about clark.
they say maybe clark was always like this.
like what?
an asshole, some people specify. they bring up clark's treatment and abandonment of superboy, conner, tim's best friend. how he hasn't called jonathon at all since his and lois's separation. how he's already moved out of the apartment they share and is staying in a hotel.
a hotel near gotham.
the rumor mill at the daily planet is ripe with whispered talk about her and clark's divorce. lois feels eyes on her as she tries desperately to focus. perry sends her home after she spends an hour just staring at a blank document. most people at work like clark better, they're on his side. lois was always too....ambitious for them. that and the professional jealousy because lois was the best reporter both in the planet and in the city.
clark is a sweet and mild-mannered man to them. he's the one that filed for divorce so it must be lois who did something wrong. lois wonders what they'd say if she told them that they're divorcing because clark is leaving her for a teenager. a teenager only a few years older than their son.
jonathon was upset at the news, he cried and flew to his grandparents who called lois to let them know joanthon would be with them for a few weeks. at least until...things settled more.
for the capes things are diffierent.
lois and clark's divorce has effected more people than just them.
clark was an ideal, an idol. people looked up to and admired him and that included his and lois's marriage. because clark was proof they could have it all. they could have a career, a spouse, and a family.
lois doesn't blame tim. she was angry at first. she misplaced her anger and spoke during a moment of pain.
she wishes she could take it back.
she looks at pictures of tim from recent articles about his charity work. she stares at his soft cheeks, pink lips, and youthful face.
he looks...so young. he looks like he's still a kid.
and he was what clark wanted now and lois didn't know why.
it couldn't be a sex thing. clark had never had much interest in it. he'd tried, for her. they tried sex at least 3 times a month usually instigated by her. it's not that clark didn't enjoy it, that's what he'd said, it was just one of the few sensations he could feel and that made it...odd.
was it because tim was a boy? but even then if clark was gay he could've gone after literally anyone else.
why bruce's kid? bruce was his friend.
bruce hadn't said anything about what he thought of her and clark's divorce and clark's actions since but he was paying for lois's lawyer and that said just about everything that could be said.
their divorce is a fast one. quick and clean just like clark wanted.
lois almost feels guilty in the end because it feels malicious. she feels like she screwed clark over. she got the apartment, the car, and primary custody over their son. clark didn't contest a single thing. he just signed the documents lois's lawyer drafted up.
clark left their marriage with his clothes and half of their savings account. they both made the same salary so no alimony would be paid but clark would be paying some child support each month until jonathon was eighteen.
lois feels hollow when it's finalized.
she feels dried up and emptied. the hurt has gone away but there's still a pulsing ache and a sting of betrayal.
she wonders where clark will go because he can't pay for hotels forever.
she gets her answer from quiet bruce who joins her for coffee one afternoon.
tim's apartment building has multiple empty units.
clark now occupies the one across the hall from tim. it's a quiet neighborhood, no cameras, great rooftop access, and with clark's speed, barely a stone throw away from metropolis.
lois wishes she could express sympathy, wishes she could pat bruce on the shoulder as he struggles with his own feelings of betrayal.
but lois is only human.
and as bruce clenched a hand around his mug, anger and frustration radiating off of him- lois just curls around hers.
hurt and betrayal ringing freely in her chest. disbelief that clark could do this very quickly followed by a brief wondering thought of if she ever knew him at all.

I am going to read
DCU Infinite Holiday Special #1 (2006)
A Hector Hammond Christmas - Green Lantern. I don't have the context on who this villain is, but Hal is arguing with a telepath on Christmas and remembering events from his childhood.
Christmas Spirits - Shadowpact. Everyone wants to prank Santa Claus.
This is a story where Bill Willingham's politics are very much on board: the ACL, hey, the Anti-Christmas League? (are we suggesting the ACLU are bad? Except we don't want to use the scary union word? Can we get the Elves Union back? Are they going to be blamed for production being behind?)
Also yes I very much noted the ACL using 'comrade', so we are definitely supposed to tack the concept of either socialism and/or unionism onto the back of this organisation. Terrifying.
If the reindeer are down with the flu, Santa Claus, why not ask Supes to step in again? He's done it before. Also if the reindeer are deliberately trying to scare you before the big day, maybe find out what they're unhappy about?
All I Want for Christmas... - Supergirl. Clark and Kara answer letters to Superman (rather like letters to Santa) in December to get into the holiday spirit.
Kara points out she's not feeling in the mood for this, because of Conner's death, but Clark says that's why they're doing this together.
Anyway, Kara ends up answering a letter from a little girl who wants to see her Dad for Christmas, but he's serving in Iraq. Of course, it turns out he's actually a deadbeat and drunk and both parents are lying to the kid so she doesn't know he left. Kara imposes some pretty violent reckoning with Fred, the dad (drops him from high in the clouds, tells him he should consider what he saw as his life flashed before his eyes), and then goes to the Kents for Christmas. (Deadbeat Fred does indeed see his daughter on Christmas Day).
Gift of the Magi - Shazam. I am not across enough Shazamily content in this period to be 100% on this, but various of the Greek Gods are incarnate here and discussing whether Freddie is worthy of Shazam, at the Godly Pantheons Christmas Party (held in a sports bar), while also simultaneously foiling the human sacrifice plans of the Council of Merlin.
Father Christmas - Flash. This is a Bart Flash story. Jay and Joan invite Bart for Christmas, but Bart is moping because it's the period when he's Flash.
However he goes out and finds someone has made it snow. In LA. Suspecting the Weather Wizard, he instead finds it's one of the gadget guys (Tweak) who makes supplies for all the rogues, and the device went weird, and Tweak's down on his luck. Bart then invites Tweak and his son to Christmas at the Garricks.
Lights - Batwoman. The Hanukkah story of the set. Kate, via a stolen replica of a particular menorah, reunites two branches of a family split up by the Holocaust.
Yes, Tyrone, There is a Santa Claus - Superman and Batman. This is absolutely ridiculous, light hearted, and clearly deliberately Silver Age in tone (Lois getting asked to fetch Perry coffee at the start? Yeahhhhhhhhh).
Anyway Clark and Bruce compete to bring the joy of Santa to a kid who wrote to the Daily Planet (while Bruce totally denies that's what he's doing).

So I've never read a comic before so don't come at me but thanks to a pandaredd skit on this subject the idea that superman doesn't pay child support lives rent free in my mind. My only exposure to superboy may be season 1 of young justice and memes but fuckin everyone around Clark Kent wants him to bond with his clone son and he just won't.
Like fuck everyone who thinks superman is op or boring or whatever I hate him for being a deadbeat dad

just read Match is Technically Also A Luthor
poor bewildered Match. he has no idea what's going on. Lex has adopted (claimed? Can it be called adoption if he's basically already Lex's biokid?) him and is taking him home as a son but Match is just confused and wondering how Lex intends to weild him in a weapony way.
... is Lex at all doing this to rub in Superman's face that he is a far superior bio-dad? I seem to recall seeing some post or other about that being a strong possibility and 100% in character. (though I think that post was about Kon, not Match)
Lex Luthor casually out-dadding Clark is still a concept I find both a) hilarious and b) exactly as petty as that man would choose to be, haha. That's not the concept of that specific fic, though, though I really SHOULD do "Lex shows up to parenthood just to make Superman look like a deadbeat" some proper justice one of these days, lol.

Comics this week ?
Superman Annual 2023 - People were calling this the best issue of Williamson's run yet, and they might be right. A great showcase of the Daily Planet crew like we haven't seen in ages, with Lois herself getting to be the main protagonist while Clark takes more of a backseat. Williamson's take on Livewire continues to rule, seems he realizes that she is the Anti-Lois and is just canonizing that by having her work at the Daily Planet! Even brought back Red Cloud, the villain who was the Anti-Clark to get Lois and Livewire to bond. Another thing I've been begging for- learning WHY Mercy is loyal to Lex and what her backstory is - seems to be in the cards too! I am somewhat concerned about all of the villains being "redeemed" - Parasite, Livewire, Silver Banshee, Lex, and Mercy are all being placed in this morally ambiguous territory that can't last, and of course there's also PKJ's use of Metallo. My expectation is that Williamson is playing the long game and moving these villains to where they can do the most damage when they revert to type. Livewire at the Planet, Parasite and Mercy with SuperCorp, Silver Banshee with Jimmy (ok I like that relationship and hope it lasts but we can't assume it will), and Lex in Stryker's. Even Metallo is at Steelworks Tower and could wreck havoc there. At least Toyman is back to being a child-killer, call me edgy but I prefer he be the mentally unstable psycho of the Rogues Gallery, and seeing Cat reach out to Moonlight because Cat has suffered in Metropolis too was a nice moment. Finally there's Brainiac getting ready to attack Metropolis to find something buried there, and the presence of Doomsdogs means he's connected to that Watters Doomsday oneshot. Williamson has been great on Superman and ass on events, I hope a Superman event brings out the best in him.
Danger Street #8 - Finally get a glimpse of the connective tissue here. The guy who sold the helmet to Warlord and Starman is presumably the same guy who created the Green Team and the Outsiders, and may even be the same guy who traumatized Lady Cop.
WildC.A.T.S. #10 -Can't remember if this book has had issues solicited past 12 or not, but I think I'll be hopping off by then. This was a fun, entertaining book and still is, but it hasn't bonded me with these characters outside of Grifter. Despite being a "reboot" Rosenberg clearly assumes that most readers already know who these guys are and I didn't coming in and I don't now. Given I need to cut back, this one is getting dropped.
Knight Terrors: Zatanna #2 - Zatanna badly needs a big story that gives her something to angst over besides her dead father. This was fine but I hate how everything keeps coming back to that.
Spirit World #4 - Spread of Xanthe taking on all the demons was breathtaking.
Scarlet Witch #7 - Good issue, glad we got to see what happens when someone shitty walks through Wanda's door and asks for help, but I cannot understand Marvel's approach to the Wanda/Magneto relationship. As her biological father I understand why she feels tied to him despite him being a deadbeat, but was he ever paternal to her at all? Turning him into some rando she merely thought was her dad makes the relationship nonsensical. He didn't raise her, he exploited her and her brother, he was a shit dad, she shouldn't feel anything for him much less his clone. Don't get why Joseph is back either, with Magneto dead are they planning to use Joseph to stand in for Mags for a while? Maybe next issue will make things more clear.
Immortal X-Men #14 - Jesus Charles get off the fucking floor. Shaw is a moron who got rewarded as a traitor deserves.
Avengers #4 - Appreciated T'Challa telling Sam to get off his back, not thrilled about more House of M/Disassembled references for Wanda. Awaiting to see what the Impossible City's deal is, whether it's someone we readers will know or not.

Regarding that other Anon musing about the origins of Lucilius and Beelzebub:
I personally assumed they happened after the split and the Astral God was like "smh my wife took the kids in the divorce" and, being the creator half of the duo, made clones of them for the Astral World and that's how we get Cilius n Bubs and Lucio didn't even find out about it until later and then felt bad for the two of them (I recall him referring to Lucilius as "a being like my own child" after putting him in the rift or smt)
Shalem was probably sealed by this point, so she only found out about her clone much later
And yeah, we know shockingly little about the Astrals and their society and stuff, but we do know that they can reproduce with humans, since Orchis is said to be half Astral on her father's side, so that implies that they do reproduce in a way that's similar to humans
I personally subscribe to the idea that Bahamut raised baby Shalem and Sahar and then decided that raising kids is hard, which is why he became a deadbeat dad to the wedges and then Lucilius and Beelzebub were also created as babies and they were raised by Astrals, because while the Astral God wanted speakers of their own, they still didn't wanna raise them and having daddy issues explains literally everything that's wrong with Lucilius and Bubs so that's what I'm going with 100%
Think about it, Lucilius inherited the deadbeat dad streak and created his primals as grown adults, too, so he could skip the awkward teen years
This is what I believe
MY WIFE TOOK THE CHILDREN IN THE DIVORCEDHLKJFDLD PLEASE I LOVE IT
But that's an actually very nice theory that would make a tons of sense. I keep forgetting that the Astral God is like. A thing in a sense? It's like oh yeah the Omnipotent split in two and Bahamut is one of those parts and now here we are and then i forget there's a 2nd one here that could be influencing the way creation works.
Honestly the idea could work that Bahamut kept most powers during the split but probably to the condition that anything he creates from now on is finite, compared to the Astral God being perhaps more limited in term of powers that influence the creation itself, but able to grant eternal life. So copying the Speakers (that existed before the split so before this worry) would only create "incomplete" recreation of them.
That's honestly pretty solid as theories go.
And yeah right, we don't know much for Astrals and stuff, though you do have a point for Orchis, but like it can still have this ambiguity of not being the normal ways Astrals would reproduce, but a possible way to reproduce (which could also explain why Orchis was thrown out of her own body at some point). Like somehow i thought about Superman (don't ask me why) where *technically* Kryptonians can reproduce like humans (and it's how Clark could have a son later with his human wife Lois), but as a civilization they basically made children in pods, so much so that the idea that making children the "normal" way was a complete antithesis to their civilization and stuff. What i'm getting at is that just because they /can/ reproduce like regular mortals, doesn't mean it's something they would normally do, though in this case, especially, since Orchis was half Astral, the Astral WOULD have to do it "the human way" regardless.
OBVIOUSLY nothing about it is confirmed, we genuinely don't have enough infos about how Astral reproduce to say that it MUST be different, what i'm getting at is that just because they CAN reproduce like regular humans and we have the proof of the existence of a mixed kid, doesn't actually really confirm it fully either.
Anyway, really loving the idea of Bahamut regretting the parent's life, and all of our mischieful ones having been kids at some point to the drama of their parents.
And Lucilius ending up heritating Bahamut's deadbeatness makes so much sense to me. He wanted to be like God and he was to his Primals, the same way Bahamut was with his wedges. And then both Bahamut and Lucilius end up surprised when their Light Inheritor ends up planning to take you down smh.
thank you for the insight, it was super interesting!!
Take care!

.....yeah, Lex is the distant but still strangely helicopter-parent wine mom with extremely high expectations but tries to be supportive in really weird and not always great ways, Clark is the deadbeat dad that doesn't want to admit he had a baby with someone he hates. - L
Tumblr media
"Wow I really did win the lottery here didn't I? Lex is like 'Baby why can't you just be evil? I'm so disappointed despite that I made you to be just like Superman' while he has Mercy pour him a glass of wine."
