Hey ! first of all: I recently discovered you blog & totally fell in love with it🥺, especially after my "Nessian Hangover".

I know this might be a bit off-topic from your usual content, but there's something about Cassian's relationship with Mor that really irks me...and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

His actions, like pulling away from Nesta's hand in ACOWAR, left me feeling frustrated and sympathetic towards Nesta. And then there's that whole thing in Wings and Embers where he's all secretive about Nesta with Mor and doesn't wanna tell her about Nesta, which gave off major mixed signals?? I mean, describing Mor as something between a lover and a friend, while also being like family? That was so confusing, how can she be all three to him? it just felt so ... inappropriate and I felt so bad for Nesta bc obviously she deserves someone who has only eyes for her.

But then in SF he says all romantic feelings turned into familial bonds after the incident so what was that about then in WaE and pulling his hand away in ACOWAR?

Also in WaE it sounded like he primarily slept with Mor out of jealouy but in SF it does seem like he did had romantic feelings towards her ? :/ ...

And when he thought in SF about how hauntingly beautiful Mor is and how it takes his breath away and that she is lovely and perfect .... it just drove me mad tbh because this sounded very romantic coded to me which made me feel so bad for Nesta.

it has been all so confusing and inconsistent to me and also just frustrating how he talked so poetic about a woman he slept with (or did he also call Nesta also hauntingly beautiful or lovely or perfect and I'm not remembering it?), or how he didn't wanted to show Mor that he has feelings for Nesta?? :/ - so I just wondered what you thought about all of that, in hopes to calm me down or clarify bc it really almost ruined him for me (maybe I was misinterpreting stuff?).

I love this ask, Anon, and how detailed and specific it is. It is a question after my own heart! My response is long so it's after the break.

Thank you for saying you love my love for Nesta - that means the world to me. What I especially like about your ask is, it is about canon Nesta, who is the Nesta I most treasure, and by extension about canon Nessian. I sometimes feel like a lone voice in the drafty moors of Tumblr with my deep and abiding love for canon Nessian, so the fact that this ask lets me talk about them in canon makes me happy!

I have given this a lot of thought since receiving your question, and I'm not sure how satisfying parts of my answer will be, so my apologies in advance for the fact that I am not actually going to offer an explanation for how and why all the details you listed can co-exist in a single, utterly comprehensive whole for the Cassian-Mor relationship when Cass is unquestioningly Nesta's by the end of ACOSF.

Instead, here's why the lack of things utterly lining up for these three doesn't bother me in the long run, and only slightly bothered me during the pre-ACOSF / post-ACOFAS era.

It is clear to me as a reader that SJM pivoted in a significant way between ACOMAF and ACOWAR when it comes to Mor.

I came across a post recently that explains exactly my thoughts on this. The post focuses on the current ship war but the evidence in it describes how during ACOMAF it was clear Moriel (Mor and Azriel) was likely to be endgame, but then SJM shifted Mor's arc to where she was more attracted to women, which meant needing to retcon a lot (and unfortunately a lot of Mor's charm and nuance was collateral damage that I am still hoping SJM repairs).

I think Cassian in ACOMAF needs to be read in the context of a planned future love triangle of sorts between Azriel-Mor-Cassian, into which I do think SJM planned to throw Nesta as a big bomb that beautifully blows up Cass's corner of the triangle. But the parts in "Wings and Embers" where Cass says to the reader he is worried about what Mor will think about his fixation on this human woman, I think were meant to preserve some kind of angsty triangle for the next book, which SJM (thankfully) jettisoned. I hate love triangles so I honestly would not have been a fan if that had been where SJM landed.

Now, in ACOWAR and ACOFAS, I think the Mor stuff with Cassian gets a bit more confusing, so I agree with you there. Cassian doesn't know for sure Nesta is his mate until she screams for him during the Battle of Hybern at the end of ACOWAR, so the stuff before that - e.g., him removing his hand from hers - I read in a few ways. I think being buffer to Mor with Azriel all those years messed with his head a lot, and in a way, Mor finally coming to terms with her sexuality is a really solid catalyst for her beginning to distance herself from the triangle dynamic she was a part of for 500 years, which I think was more healthy for everyone involved.

But remember, Nesta is still proud and surly in ACOWAR, not in any inherently bad way but in a way that probably didn't signal to Cassian she was particularly interested in him, even as he was drawn to her like a magnet and couldn't keep away because part of him loves her claws so much. Cass rightly protects his own heart when he has the foresight to do so in ACOWAR and ACOFAS. I always knew they would work their shit out eventually, but during the messy process of doing so I don't begrudge him a little distance when Nesta, in her trauma response to what was happening to her and around her, sometimes lashed out at the strongest individual in her vicinity who she knew could take it like a boulder weathers the storm - that person was always Cassian for her.

When I first read ACOSF, I absolutely assumed going in that Mor was going to be catty about Nessian finally starting to get together. When she wasn't, it was jarring to me. But once I finished my first reading of ACOSF, I came to a striking conclusion about Mor, ACOSF, and SJM:

The story SJM needed to tell in ACOSF would not have been aided or forwarded by Mor intervening in the Nessian dynamic in a catty way, or being a foil to anything about Nesta in that story's arc.

In other words, SJM could have written a version of Nesta and Cassian's book that included Mor challenging Nesta's right to be with Cassian, but that was unequivocally NOT the book SJM wanted or needed to write (hopefully my double negative landed correctly here, lol).

So, SJM pivoted, and sent Mor to Vallahan, so SJM could write the story she needed to write. As a writerly choice, I adore everything about it - Nesta didn't need to be fighting with another woman over rights to her mate, she needed women friendships that were pure and gloriously blank slates upon which and with whom to write and tell her and their collective story - so SJM introduced Emerie and Gwyn. SJM even brought in Mor later to teach Nesta the waltzes, and their brief exchange in which Nesta called her Morrigan and Mor invited her to call her Mor, and Nesta accepted the invitation to do so, is another breathtakingly vulnerable moment for Nesta that fills my heart right up. To this end, the promise that Mor will begin to train with the Valkyries in the next book has me so excited.

Now, there are two lines in ACOSF I still want to comment on (then I'll reign in this very long post, lol). First, I agree that Cassian's observation in his pov of how breathtakingly beautiful Mor is at the cafe toward the start of the book can come off romantic coded, though for him at this point I don't think it is. But whether it is or not, we need to remember he and Nesta still have a whole book's worth of stuff to work through with their romantic relationship.

I suspect SJM included that moment in part to set up some stakes for the Nessian arc - that, although Cassian hasn't had sex since he met Nesta, he is still a man who is drawn to admiring a beautiful woman inside and out. If Nesta had already won his exclusive attention in this regard before any of their arc began in that book, what would be the point of the book? (By the end, I do think Cassian only has eyes for Nesta, and it is absolutely because they claim each other - I don't think in the long run he would have been able to settle for less, and nor should he have.)

And, since Nessian aren't in a relationship at that point in the cafe at the beginning of the book, I'm not mad at him for admiring Mor's beauty per say. I think if Nesta invited it then, he would admire hers a lot more, and with a much more deep seated attraction. ACOSF is about them both letting their inner barriers down to allow the other to love them, so that kind of attraction still needs to be earned between them at that point in their story. His observation about Mor's beauty is in a different category entirely from where Cassian eventually lands with Nesta, so there is nothing threatening about it for me.

The other line that feels weird to me most times I read it, is when Mor baldly tells Nesta early in ACOSF that she would have sent Nesta to live in the Court of Nightmares. The only explanation I have for this moment and exchange is that for SJM it was more in service of Nesta's arc, and less about making sense coming from Mor. What I mean here is, at that moment Nesta feels wretched and all things terrible about herself, and it's a feature of that kind of disordered thinking that others around you either seem to echo what you're thinking about yourself, or sometimes do echo it in reality, if through a trauma response you've hurt those around you (*she says from personal experience*), or if through their own trauma response those around you respond in kind (as I think may have been happening with Mor in this scene).

Do I love that Mor says something so cruel to Nesta in that moment early in Nesta's healing journey? No, I do not. Do I see why it helps to heavily charge these early scenes for Nesta as she truly hits rock bottom regarding her feelings about herself? Yes, I do.

Which leads me to how I'll conclude this. I hope SJM intentionally develops Mor's story so she isn't just a device in the story arcs of others. For better or worse, some kind of reckoning between her and Az needs to happen, likely in the next book, for either to truly move on. But I hope Mor gets the attention a character like her deserves in future books.

I am A-OK with her mostly-absence from ACOSF because I don't think she would have been a productive part of Nesta's healing arc, and at the end of the day that is the heart and soul of ACOSF for me - Nesta healing.

The reason ACOSF-Nessian has my whole heart is because, it's so clear to me the ways Cassian supports Nesta's healing and is the catalyst for a lot of her growth into a person who loves herself and sees herself as worthy and deserving of love and happiness.

If he was a bit of a hot mess in the period between first meeting Nesta and getting to finally be with her as accepted mates, I don't begrudge him that.

Sorry, sorry, I totally meant to do this faster but that was a lot of questions, haha. Putting this under a read more because it got LONG.

1.) favourite place in your country?

Honestly there are a lot of beautiful places in France, but a personal favorite would be Biarritz, near the Spanish border. My whole extended family used to vacation there when I was a kid.

2.) do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?

Given the choice I’d prefer to travel abroad.

3.) does your country have access to sea?

Yes, via the English channel, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean sea.

4.) favourite dish specific for your country?

La blanquette de veau, a dish that was originally from Normandy :)

5.) favourite song in your native language?

Nooo, don’t do this to me. I hate picking favorites. I’ll just share one that has some personal significance for me and not call it my favorite ;)

6.) most hated song in your native language?

I don’t know that I really hate that many songs, but on a personal level I definitely never wanna hear Jusqu’ici tout va bien by Gims again as long as I live. It’s the theme song to a show my roommate watches every evening (which means I have to hear it Every.Day.) and it irks me that the title is a reference to one of the best scenes from my favorite movie when the song itself is so annoying. But maybe I just feel that way because I have to hear it so, so often.

7.) three words from your native language that you like the most?

Clair-obscur (chiaroscuro), l’engrenage (an ineluctable series of events) and it’s technically two words but l’amitié amoureuse. The literal translation would be ’friendship in love’ but it’s not actually a romantic love, it just describes basically having an intense but platonic crush on your friend. It’s one of my favorite concepts in the French language.

8.) do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?

No, we don’t, for better or for worse France is very uniquely French, lol.

9.) which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?

The one I know best is probably Switzerland, just because my great-uncle lived in Lausanne and we visited him a few times when he was still alive. Fun fact, he ran away to Switzerland after having an affair with a married woman because her husband threatened to kill him, lol.

The one I’d like to visit most is Italy, just because that’s where part of my family is from (from Parma) and I’ve never been.

I think there’s just always something missing in translation tbh.

I mean, I know outsiders often comment on the fact that French people kiss each other on the cheek to say hello (se faire la bise) but I don’t know if that counts as a strange tradition.

Ehh, to me French cinema/TV is divided in two categories, really fucking good and really fucking awful, haha, there’s pretty much no in-between. A bad movie is called a navet (a turnip) by the way^^

There’s a lot of jokes and memes that originated from the tv show Kaamelott that are going to be hard to decipher for people who haven’t seen it. Here’s one I think you’ll enjoy:

The one I agree with is that French people complain all the time because we really, really do, haha. I don’t agree with the stereotype that French people are lazy though, we just don’t live to work but why are we acting like it’s a bad thing?? I don’t know, there are a lot of negative stereotypes about French people but tbh at the end of the day I don’t really care that much.

17.) are you interested in your country’s history?

Sure, it’s definitely interesting, but there’s so much of it it can be a little intimidating.

18.) do you speak with a dialect of your native language?

Nope.

19.) do you like your country’s flag and/or emblem? what about the national anthem?

Our emblem is le coq (the rooster), which you only see on the French team’s shirts, just like you’re most likely to see the flag when there’s a World Cup. It’s fine I guess, I don’t really have an opinion on it.

Our national anthem is kind of problématique but it does go hard. I’ll give it that. Like, if you’ve ever watched that scene from Casablanca where they sing La Marseillaise you’ll understand what I mean by that.

21.) if you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be?

I’ve been puzzling over this question for weeks, haha, and I’m still not sure what it means, like? Do you mean annoying people I’d launch into space or XD

I don’t have a lot of national pride tbh. I’m ashamed about a lot of the public discourse, the islamophobia, the state violence, the way Nicolas Sarkozy and the media brought far-right talking points into the mainstream and now we’re all swimming in their shit.

I’m proud to know that French people are always ready to burn shit down though.

23.) which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country?

According to Google it’s beer. I would’ve probably said wine.

Probably Belgium. There’s lots of belgian jokes.

I don’t really think about stuff like that. Every country has its own issues, so it is what it is.

Oh boy, does it ever. Every time a new season of Emily in Paris comes out you can bet French Twitter is gonna have a field day over this shit XD

27.) favourite national celebrity?

When you say national celebrity my first thought immediately goes to Jean-Jacques Goldman. Amazing songwriter, but also very well-known for his work with the Restos du Cœur, a French charity that was founded by his friend the comedian Coluche and les Restos famously do more for the poor than our own government ever would. Probably why Goldman gets elected personnalité préférée des Français every other year. (He also pays his taxes in France, unlike some people, and we always appreciate that here.)

28.) does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites?

It does. I think the most famous are the river Seine, the Mont-Blanc (although that crosses over into Italy) and as far as lakes go I’m sure there are a lot but I can’t think of a really well-known one.

29.) does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?

My city does have beef with another city, but I won’t say which for privacy reasons ;)

30.) do you have people of different nationalities in your family?

My paternal grandmother was from Laos and my paternal grandfather’s family immigrated from Italy (not him directly, but his mother). I think there’s some German (well, Prussian) and Flemish on my mother’s side. My aunt’s husband is also from Italy, and my eldest brother’s wife is from Madagascar. I think that’s all :)

It’s Spinner hours again lets go. Specifically in depth ones this time rather than generic cause I feel like I’ve never really EXPLAINED it in specifics and in case there was any other confusion I feel like this helps clean it up.

1 - Teenage confusion. Teen Spinner has been listening to the village go on and on about first relationships and snogging behind Papa’s lab where he can’t catch them and he just doesn’t understand it. At first he’s like ‘ok cool well I guess we’re growing up now those urges will come to me soon’ … they don’t.

Vanity Smurf is a bit of a serial romantic. Spinner isn’t sure he’d called Vanity a friend but … he’s the best he’s got. It’s a bit awkward, he doesn’t really know how to go about it but eventually he just sort of pulls Vanity to one side and is like ‘uh um ah I know this sounds weird but can I kiss you?’ and hey Spinner is a good looking enough Smurf so Vanity assumes he’s asking because he (Vanity) is just irresistible. Of course Spinner darling who WOULDN’T want a piece of this?

They kiss. Spinner does not react well. In fact he really doesn’t see what all the hype is about. They try again after an apology for the bad reaction. He just feels nothing. Not good, not bad … just nothing. It’s like kissing a warm stone. Vanity is a bit miffed because what kind of Smurf isn’t overjoyed to receive such an honour but Spinner decides to give up on his quest to understand the romance hype and goes home deciding to unpack that another day.

2 – Current day; Platonic Soulmates. So whilst Spinner generally prefers the company of Weaver and Tailor growing up, there is ONE other Smurf he eventually becomes quite close to and it becomes more than friendship … BEST friendship!

Spinner & Wooly refer to each other as ‘zucchini’ or ‘squish’ (platonic crush; desire to be close to but not romantic) and are a bit closer than even Brainy & Clumsy in terms of physical affection which can include holding hands, cuddles or sharing beds or partially living together all with the EXPLICIT understanding than none of these actions mean romance. Hence, rather than just being best friends like B&C, it’s a QPR which blurs the line a little bit. Think of it like a platonic life partner. There’s 0 kissing or intimacy but might joke about get married for tax benefits in the human au. Hence also why Wooly was the only one Spinner was comfortable asking about having a child, but they aren’t traditional “parents”. They’re both fairly lonesome Smurfs but that’s not the same as wanting to be loneLY. Call em besties, buddies, pal o’ mines, whatever, as long as they get to share a stew and a warm woollen blanket. Might say ‘I love ya’ but this is the same thing I’d say to a good friend so that’s more a familial love.

It’s also currently the only QPR (at least specifically described) and other aro-ace Smurfs like SmurfJockey and SmurfCobra specifically don’t want anything like this so it’s more of an exception than a norm but it works very well! Sometimes you just gotta cuddle ur buddy. Wooly could theoretically have a romantic relationship alongside if he wanted but he doesn’t anyway and is grateful to have his aroace pal because unfortunately for Wooly a lot of Smurfs have crushed on him and he can’t say he thinks the same about them DFJSK

Hello! I saw a post that said you were rereading the witcher books. I've never read any of them, that's what I wanted to ask one thing. Is it true that after Geralt met Yen, he started to compare all the women he was with with her? I just saw how someone was talking about it, but I don't know if it's true 🤔 (sorry for my bad english)

Hi Nonny, first of all please never feel you have to apologize for “bad” English. Your English is great. And tbh people can even send me asks in their own language if they feel more comfortable. I will run that through a translator (if it’s not English or Spanish) and consult with friends, and then answer.

So. Your question is does Geralt compare all of the women he sleeps with to Yen after he meets her.

That answer is yes. Without a doubt. People can ship obviously anything they want in fanon (I do. Fanon is fun.) But in canon, Yennefer is the only woman he ever loves.

Yen and Geralt do break up and make up many times over the course of the eight book saga. In fact, most of their relationship takes place 'off the page'. Meaning, most of the time we spend with Geralt in the books, he is broken up with her. So Geralt does sleep with quite a few other people.

However, no matter who Geralt sleeps with, he is always thinking of Yen, and that is explicitly stated over and over again. You can’t miss it. I have pulled the most relevant quotes and passages from the books below to demonstrate that fact.

TW: I do refer to consent and sexual assault because it’s impossible to avoid in a conversation about Geralt of Rivia and sexual partners. But I do not go into detail or belabor the point.

The first time we see Geralt sleep with someone else after Yen is in Sword of Destiny, in the short story A Little Sacrifice.

ESSI DAVEN

Essi Daven is a beautiful 19yo bard. She is a dear friend of Dandelion's.

When Geralt approaches her, he notes that she smells like Verbena, and thinks to himself that:

…he liked the scent of verbena, although the scent of verbena was not the scent of lilac and gooseberry. Sword of Destiny p202

So, he cannot so much as smell an attractive woman without comparing her to Yen’s signature lilac and gooseberries.

Geralt thinks Essi is attractive, and he is extremely fond of her. He even impulsively kisses her when they first meet (though he regrets it).

He really regrets it when Essi falls in love with him. She is very very young (still a teenager!), so it is the first time she has ever been in love. She doesn’t have any experience with love, much less with the agony of unrequited love. She is confused, distressed, and distraught. She cries about her feelings of humiliation. Geralt is very uncomfortable.

Damnit, he thought, if Yennefer feels like I do now when she's with me, I feel sorry for her…I will never hate her again…never again.

Because perhaps Yennefer feels what I'm feeling now, feels a profound certainty that I ought to fulfill what it is impossibly to fulfill…Certainty that a little sacrifice isn't enough here; you'd have to sacrifice everything, that there'd still be no way of knowing if that would be enough.

No, I won't continue to hate Yennefer for not being able and not wanting to give me more than a little sacrifice. Now I know that a little sacrifice is a hell of a lot…

Sword of Destiny p231

He wonders whether this is how he made Yennefer feel during A Shard of Ice, which was the last time they were together when Yennefer broke up with him.

Also, Geralt feels guilty and thinks he should show Essi romantic affection (kiss/hug/sex) to make her feel less rejected. But he doesn’t want to. Perhaps, being 50 or 60 years her senior, he knows it could just make things worse for her. But the biggest issue is that plain and simple, he doesn't want to. Essi is not Yennefer.

Sword of Destiny -p233

He does eventually have sex with her, but based on the passages above, he doesn’t seem to want to. I could say a lot about consent, self worth, and Geralt of Rivia, but I couldn’t do it justice in this post. Honestly, Geralt and consent needs its own post because it is an important and sensitive topic. And since the purpose of this post is just to show that Geralt is always thinking of Yen, and I have done that, I’ll move on.

TRISS MERIGOLD

In Blood of Elves, and we learn that Geralt and Triss have had sex in the past.

So, here is Triss reminiscing on their affair in Blood of Elves p 61.

...she had seduced the witcher -- with the help of a little magic. She had hit on a propitious moment, a moment when he and Yennefer had scratched each other's eyes yet again and had abruptly parted. Geralt had needed warmth, and had wanted to forget.

According to Triss’s own internal monologue, she “hit on a propitious moment” and used the help of magic to seduce him.

So. We’re back at consent. (Sensing a theme?)

Fandom often debates whether this means she sexually assaulted him. Did she purposely wait until he was at his lowest? Or was that a coincidence? If she did wait and engineer that, it feels quite predatory.

And using magic to seduce someone sounds like rape. I’ve seen people argue that no, that is a drastic thing to jump to, that this could simply mean that she set the mood or made herself look better cosmetically. I have seen people argue that magic in that sense simply refers to the happy coincidence. I have my own very strong opinion, but again, these are sensitive issues that deserve their own post. If I get started this will become a novel.

For our purposes here, by Triss’s own reckoning, she was the aggressor. And now that she is at Kaer Morhen again, she tries again to seduce him. She fails.

He turns her down in the stables. He turns her down in the keep. And when they leave to take Ciri to Nenneke, she tries again, and he turns her down again. He says that she is important to him but that sex with her was a mistake. He makes it clear that while he cares about her, he is not in love with her and never has been.

FRINGILLA VIGO

In Lady of the Lake, Geralt has an affair with Fringilla. He and Yennefer are together romantically but separated physically and he erroneously thinks that Yennefer has betrayed him.

However, despite believing Yen has betrayed him, he repeatedly calls her name during sex with Fringilla.

Fringilla Vigo said nothing for some time. She didn't have the slightest intention of mentioning to the lodge that only in the last week the witcher had called her 'Yennefer' twice, and both at a moment when in every respect she was entitled to hear her own name."

LYTTA NEYD (CORAL)

In Season of Storms, Geralt sleeps with a sorceress for various reasons I won’t get into. He and Yen are on a break.

During their first conversation, Coral says that the sorceresses all gossip about him and Yen. She asks him why he loves Yen and no one else.

Later, Geralt is with Dandelion, and his best friend warns him (unusually emphatically and forcefully) to steer clear of Coral, who obviously has ulterior motives. (Plot related that I won’t get into). He repeats what everyone knows. Geralt only loves Yen.

Then, after Geralt and Coral spend some time having an affair, the narrative reassures us that his time with Coral has done nothing to change his love for Yen.

Coral is helping Geralt to find his swords. So she casts a searching spell and asks him to think of his swords. The idea is, that his thoughts and the spell will cause the reflection of them to appear in a pool of water. However, when she casts the spell, he is thinking of Yen, and her face appears in the water.

"OFF THE PAGE" hook ups.

Other than those listed there are other people Geralt hooks up with, but it happens “off the page” or does not offer Geralt’s point of view or thoughts.

However, the narrative is consistent and repetitive in every situation where we do know Geralt’s thoughts. When we have his POV, no matter what woman he meets, he is only thinking of Yennefer.

So, given the relentless repetition of that fact in the story, there is really no other possible interpretation. Geralt only ever loves Yennefer. It’s canon!!

im ill and incapable of real genuine human thought so im just going to talk about one of my favourite drafts that im working on and its this

-regulus & evan fake dating, ft aromantic regulus, endgame rosewater qpp AND endgame rosekiller.

-yeah im hitting evan with the polyamory beam. ITS CALLED PROJECTING!!

anyway its one of my favourite things in my google docs. some fun facts about it:

•barty & evan BOTH already like each other. evan also knows barty likes him back but thinks hes too much of a coward to say anything and his first thought is “okay, i’ll fake date somebody about this”

•oh and also regulus is just like “i mean alright i guess”

•regulus tells barty immediately. hes like “honest to god get your shit together” and barty is like “literally why would you do this” and regulus is like “i thought it would be funny”:

•you guys are all ALWAYS forgetting that if sirius pretty much raised regulus HES GOING TO ACT LIKE A TWAT SOMETIMES i love regulus being an absolute menace

•qpr. thats all i need to say. as a member of a qpr it is one of my all time favourite relationships in my life and i think not enough people write them. i ALSO think not enough people write aro characters as capable of emotion!! 90% of the time (in my experience!!) theyre just aro because the author couldnt think of a pairing for them and they felt bad. so anyway i changed that for this fic. and also in like… 3 other fics in my drafts. i love being in a qpr im in a qpr hey did i mention im in a qpr this post goes out to my beloved partner even though they will never see it

•sirius. sirius. sirius. i dont know WHAT it is about the black brothers but every single time i write ANY fic with either of them in they end up talking to each other. i cant stop them. im just writing and they say “we want to reconcile” and i say “that wasnt one of my plot points…?” but its too late! theyre already talking!

•regulus being SUPREMELY confused when he realises he likes evan <3 with the focus on the fact that he can still like him without it being romantic!! he has no idea what a qpr is but he’ll get there

•regulus GOES TO SIRIUS FOR HELP!! and sirius is like “ok i will help you” and regulus is like “what why” and sirius is like “do you want help or not tbh”

•but also regulus is like “ok so i have a fake boyfriend” and sirius is like “you fucking what”:

•the segment with sirius features a LOT of complaints from regulus (that part is his pov! it changes throughout between barty, reg & evan though) about the red of the gryffindor dorms. he is so upset by them:

•barty immediately notices when regulus accidentally catches feelings. hes like “…you thought this would be funny but it went like normal fake dating didnt it” and regulus gives him a very sad looking nod and says “i wont stop you dating him i still dont know what it is” and barty is like “getting over evan is too much work and id know, if he wants us both he can bloody well just have us both”

•spoiler alert for the fact that he does <3

-anyway. not much of this is written but i just wanted to talk about it! my dear best friend and the platonic loml is anti reg/evan (she could never get me) so… tumblr has to hear about it instead!

-oh also my fake dating experience is based in a little too much truth about my life (i did it) (its how i got with my partner) so! you know. you can trust the authenticity?

AIGHT SO- These r my Headcanons for the Buccigang and their gender identities/sexualities. In no way do I believe everyone should agree with these or anything. These r just my opinions and everyone has their own Headcanons!

Narancia: Pansexual, Nonbinary, Demiboy, He/They

Giorno: MLM/Gay, Transgender (ftm), Androgyny, Neopronouns, He/Him/Luck/Lucky's

Trish: Lesbian/Sapphic, She/Her

REASONING;

Bruno: I mean, I dunno, man just gives me gay man vibes. But gay as in he's attracted to any male identifying individuals or male-aligned individuals (so y'know like a non-binary person that partially identifies as a male) I just don't see him having a relationship with a woman unless it's platonic/a friendship. He's definitely the type of gay to make women fall head over heels for him (obviously not on purpose) then the women become severely disappointed when they find out he's gay- He's the gay that has to deal with those awkward interactions-

Abba: Kinda the same for Abba. He just doesn't rub me as the type to like women or other genders- He's a simple man. A simple man that loves men- But he's also demi-androgynous. Since I feel like you could confuse him for a woman for obvious reasons- And in general I feel like he could partially relate/feel connected to women, however, he doesn't actually identity as a woman.

Mista: I mean- I don't think I gotta explain this one. This vibes r all there- Despite his croptop he thinks they make him look hot not feminine so he doesn't relate or feel connected to identifying as any other gender-

Nara: IT'S THE VIBES BRO- First off, man's color pallet is literally the non-binary flag- Second- Bc of the fact his gender is a bit all over the place he definitely feels attracted to ppl regardless of their gender, therefore, man's Pan. I'd also say he's a Demiboy, he doesn't always feel fully connected to being a guy nor does he always relate to it. Hence why he might appear feminine at times. But I don't think he'd identify as a female. Tbh idk why he gives me the vibes that he'd get mad if ppl assume he's a girl. He doesn't mind wearing feminine clothes but just like Abba, I feel he wouldn't like identifying as one. He'd rather identify without a gender or his assigned gender.

Fugo: MLM so y'know like Bruno a male that is attracted to other males or male-aligned individuals. For that same reason I think he'd also identify as Polyromantic meaning he's specifically romantically attracted to males or non-binary (specifically masc non-binary) ppl but not women or ppl who even partially identify as women. I also believe he'd be demisexual in terms and will only have a sexual relationship with his partner if he's been in a deep and serious relationship with them for years otherwise don't expect any sort of sexual relation from this dude-

Gio: Again, same as Fugo and Bruno mmmm m e n/m a l e a l i g n e d p p l. At this point I'm completely on board with the trans (FTM) hc of his- I mean- Araki practically wrote it himself- BUT he also identifies as Androgynous given the way he dresses and I'd say even acts at times- However, I don't think he'd identify as a female bc of that. He just like... Understands and relates to women for obvious reasons- and the Neopronouns r kinda funny haha thing for me- Tbh idk to take them serious myself or not 💀 But I liked the idea anyways bc of how Mista called him his "Lucky Boy" and I just liked the idea of at that moment Giorno thinking 'That's... A... Nice word to use a pronoun-' (IN NO WAY DO I MEAN THIS IS A GIOMIS WAY- He just genuinely liked the word as a pronoun 💀 (that's my HC anyways-))

Trish: MmmMM w o m e n- She's definitely and completely into girls/female-alinged individuals. After the shit she went through? Constantly being surrounded by men both protecting her but also severely endangering her? Yeah, she's had enough of dudes- /hj. Trish is definitely like... A girly girl when it comes to everything outside of fighting- I just feel like she'd definitely see/describe all males as "too rough and boyish" idk what that'd even mean but essentially she just would always find some sort of discomfort in guys so- A lesbian she is- And I'd definitely say she's someone that's happy and confident with her gender. She loves her body and her gender and wouldn't want to change it for any reason or identify as anything other than herself, which is a AFAB :)

I made relationship charts for Jun and my other main Yu Yu Hakusho OCs! I'll probably make one with Kurama as well once I actually draw him (both Youko Kurama and Shuichi Kurama, because they have slightly different dynamics with him)

Some notes:

Jun is supposed to be 173 for all of them I just screwed up because I didn't have a ballpark height for him in mind until I was making these charts (I'm still not sure how tall I want him to be tbh)

Each chart is based off a lot of different factors, all boiling down to "how does Jun interact with these points in comparison to THIS person, specifically" and "what is Jun's mental state like at these points in time"

Atsuro's awkward level is less awkward more dense

Jun's jealousy on his chart with Souji is because, while he's really not a jealous person, he's overly aware of the fact he thinks Souji would be much happier with another human, rather than the traumatized demon his family has been put in charge of watching for over 200 years at this point.

Jun and Yuen's relationship is rather complicated (but the source for why is, hopefully, rather obvious). The chart isn't necessarily romantic in their case-- except for the fact Yuen mistakes the source of his jealousy as romantic jealousy. His "jealousy" readings are also shaded a bit strangely to show that he's slowly becoming less jealous now that he knows the truth.

The question marks in Jun and Yuen's chart mean that they're not really sure what they're feeling. Jun knows, without a doubt, he's not jealous of people trying to get close to Yuen or vice versa, but there's a part of him that's jealous over something, though he's not entirely sure what it is.

In that same vein, Yuen's trying to figure out why he feels the way he does about Jun and comes to the wrong conclusion that he's crushing on Jun, so his "horny" levels are him going "I mean, he is really pretty and mysterious and I maybe kind of want to sleep with him idk but I can't stop looking at him and my friends always joke about it so maybe??? I just want him to look at me." Like, he's 80% sure he's not horny but he also can't deny Jun is gorgeous and he's always looking at him and he wants to be looked at in return so fucking bad--

(Of course, that was when he was eighteen, early 20s. Now he's just confused whether or not he really wants to entertain the idea of sleeping with Jun even though they've figured out he is not, in fact, in love with him.)

11 reasons why cap 4 should reintroduce Bucky Barnes as the love interest, an essay

to start this off, i am not writing this essay from a shipping place nor do i believe that this would have any influence at all over the upcoming movie. i expect nothing. this is simply something that i would personally like to see. (of course no hate to anybody who thinks differently)

here are 11 reasons why i think making Bucky into Sam Wilson's love interest in Cap 4 would be a good move for Disney.

1. on the Chinese film market - and why it's an irrelevant argument against the inclusion of homosexual themes in Cap 4

the Chinese film market is something that has been blamed for a lack of diversity in Hollywood films a lot lately. many people claim that this market with a lot of buying power has been responsible for the lack of gay and black representation in particular within Hollywood films.

and we have certainly seen Hollywood treating it as such, going so far as to cut gay scenes from movies for their Chinese releases, and vastly minimising John Boyega's (a black actor's) presence in the Chinese poster of Star Wars The Force Awakens.

so we know at the very least that Disney believes this through their own actions and efforts to self-censor for the different markets.

but Captain America 4 is a black-led movie, don't you forget. and Disney can't minimise Sam Wilson/Anthony Mackie in the movie or the poster because it's his movie and his poster. and no amount of creativity in the editing room can change that (thank God!).

so if by their own argument the film is already going to be either banned, panned or slammed in China... then what do they have to fear from making it a gay movie too?

2. oh, the queerbaiting

queerbaiting is an unusual cultural idea. and sometimes i find myself thinking that the term is far too easily used, but then all of a sudden i will stumble upon a movie or show that is so quintessentially cruel and overt in it's... well... queerbaiting that i will start to wonder what the hell kind of a bizarre relationship all these straight people seem to have with their friends. take Troy and Abed from Community or John and Sherlock from Sherlock as the perfect examples of this. (in which my reaction to the show's creators saying the show wasn't gay was to ask so then why did you make it so gay?!)

i felt that Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in tfatws were getting quite close to this level of queerbaiting.

there was the field scene, the couple's counselling scene, the boat scene, the couple's counselling scene, Bucky going with Sam to face Karli when she told Sam to come alone, the couple's counselling scene, ALL the staring scenes, Sam checking out Bucky's ass here as they said goodbye, the "i would move in with him but" hidden scene, "Uncle Bucky" showing up at the cookout scene, the romantic walking off together into the sunset together ending scene, and the couple's counselling scene. did i forget anything? but i mean seriously, the couple's counselling scene!!! that thing they did with their legs and their crotches while staring deep into each other's eyes, would any straight guy willingly do that? do straight guys crotch-snuggle now?

(yeah i stole this image from a buzzfeed article on the fan reactions to the couple's therapy scene. but given that they stole 80% of the content of that article from fandom tumblr, i think it's pretty even-steven.)

there's also the fact that people started talking about bisexual Bucky Barnes a lot after the tiger pictures line, and the lead writer Malcom Spellman responded to the talk of Bucky's bisexuality with "just keep watching". well we watched, Malcolm. but it's beginning to feel like you were just jerking us around.

3. the writing

seriously though, what else is Bucky Barnes doing right now in the MCU? his only remaining connection to anything going on right now is through Sam. there is literally nothing else established that's left for him to do that doesn't involve Sam. he moved to Louisiana to be closer to Sam (canonically), he hangs out with Sam's family (canonically), and Steve is presumably gone and is definitely not coming back for more adventures.

he has no villains or loose ends left. he has no other superheroes that he appears to be in contact with. he has no girlfriend or potential love interest, or even other friends or family. he is living in a tent that he has secretly set up in Sam's backyard and is mysteriously appearing from the bushes when it's time for dinner like a stray cat.

in my opinion there is no other meaningful and pre-established progression for Bucky's character that wouldn't just feel cheap.

plus, i don't think the general audience would be all that surprised if they kissed. i think a LOT of people picked up on all that tension. i think a lot of straight people picked up on all that tension too.

4. the chemistry between the actors & the chemistry between the characters

the original pitch for tfatws was essentially just this, it was the chemistry between Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie and their respective MCU characters of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson.

now obviously Anthony and Sebastian are simply friends, and i wouldn't mean to imply anything more. but they are also not their characters.

Sam and Bucky's scenes together before tfatws were both limited and short, and yet audiences still fell in love with the dynamic between the two characters.

in interviews, these two actors are constantly slipping into character and flirting with each other and frankly it's adorable. plus it's really entertaining. i'd love to see that dynamic, unfiltered, in a movie.

because believe it or not the flirting is actually even more open in their interviews than it was in tfatws. and i'm leaving some links as proof.

i'm just saying, why not let their chemistry shine? these two are so talented and so entertaining, especially when you put them in a room together. and can you imagine how absolutely hilarious and brilliant it would be to watch them navigate being a couple?

(and for those who bring up the "friends would be uncomfortable pretending to be dating" argument, i'm not here asking for a sex scene or anything. i don't think anyone would expect them to show any more intimacy (physical or emotional) while playing a couple than what they've already shown together in say... tfatws or in their own interviews. not that i actually expect anything regardless.)

5. if they were a man and a woman they would've gotten together in tfatws

i have no more to add here. just that... yeah, they would've.

6. and i'm not talking about the comics here, i'm talking about the MCU.

i understand fully that none of what i'm saying here falls in line with these characters from the comics. but the mcu itself doesn't fall much in line with the comics either, and these two characters especially are very different from their comics counterparts.

i'm not asking for these two to get together in the comics. tbh i don't think that it would work.

but the mcu Sam and Bucky are different and closer than their comics counterparts. they've got different histories, different backstories, and a very different dynamic. please rest assured that i am only talking about them in the mcu.

7. Bucky Barnes is believably bisexual. and Sam Wilson has never been proven to be straight in the mcu, nor has he had a love interest.

(now please continue to keep in mind that these points only stand for the mcu versions of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, and not at all for their comics counterparts.)

Sam Wilson has never had a love interest, which is crazy because have you seen that man! he has had two blink and you'll miss it moments of verbal expression of attraction to women, both in TWS. and that's the extent of it, through his entire history in the mcu.

Bucky Barnes has had a number of surface-level female love interests, but none of them even came close to the level of connection and chemistry that Bucky shares with Sam.

and i'm sorry SarahBucky fans, but i just don't think there's very much to their relationship either. i love Sarah, i really do. but it's Sam who shares all the meaningful moments and history and chemistry with Bucky. and i don't see what making her into a love interest would do for Sarah's character either, what would that add to her story?

and also there is the whole tiger pictures thing... again. which does strongly suggest that Bucky is bisexual whether this was intentional on behalf of the writers or not.

8. it's representation... AND it feels natural

marvel hasn't had a lot of queer representation that's been noticeably present in the MCU at the time of writing this.

there have been a lot of failures so far, from the bisexual erasure of Valkyrie in Thor Ragnarok to the wlw erasure in Black Panther.

there was queerbaiting almost identical to the bisexual Bucky baiting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. when asked if he had considered featuring a gay hero in gotg2, director James Gunn stated that "We might have already done that. I say, watch the movie." after the movie's release audiences were understandably confused about the lack of queer representation. To which the director followed up his comments with, "But we don't really know who's gay and who's not. It could be any of them."

there is also Loki, considered by most fans after the airing of his six episode series on Disney+ to be both a poor attempt at both genderfluid representation and bisexual representation. with both attempts being summed up fairly well by the term "blink-and-you'll-miss-it". (also it's just terribly written and Loki doesn't wear any interesting clothes! fanficcers are a Goddamn blessing in this hard time!)

and let us not forget that Andrew Garfield was apparently FIRED for pushing for a bisexual spiderman. a bisexual spiderman within an interracial mlm relationship no less.

so for all these failures, marvel, why not allow us queer fans this? two brilliant and heroic men in a loving interracial relationship. two heroes that we can look up to.

now, one of the biggest detractions from the argument for representation is the idea of "forced diversity". and some poorly written characters certainly do end up feeling forced into the narrative. take Iceman in the comics for example, with Jean Grey just straight up suddenly telling him he's gay. like, marvel, sweetie, that's not how this works! and i don't know a lot of queer people who thought much of that "representation".

but the crux of the "forced diversity" argument is almost always that it feels unnatural within the story, right? and i don't think that anyone could say that about MCU Sam and Bucky ending up together, given these characters' existing chemistry and their history. they've both played characters in gay relationships before so we know that it's not outside of either actor's wheelhouse. and y'all know that Anthony and Seb can act, people. if it's in the script i believe that they'll make it seem like the most natural thing on earth.

9. it'd be a nice change

there's been an ongoing meme lately about "Disney's first gay character", the joke being that they continually announce gay characters without really ever including gay characters in their films.

this is to the point where Disney has formed a reputation amongst queer audiences of being homophobic.

if Sam and Bucky were to become a couple, then Disney could have its first actual gay character within a gay relationship. AND have him be in the lead of his own movie, no less.

it's also worth keeping in mind that there's likely an overlap between the people who were outraged by a Sam Wilson Captain America, and the people who'd be outraged by a gay Captain America. and if they were already not seeing the film, then i don't think much is gonna change that.

queer audiences would definitely love it, and the media attention would be guaranteed to be huge. i mean, simply look at the amount of media attention mere rumours of a character's queerness gets you and multiply that by a canon confirmation of said rumours.

but i'm pretty sure that Disney already knows this.

10. and yet, in truth, it's not about the representation

in truth i've never felt that i had any trouble relating to characters of any sexual orientation, race, gender, sex, body type, etc. (although that is not to throw any shade at all on people who do wish to see themselves represented) but for me, i think it's more about the story than the packaging.

and yet, a love story is still just a story. straight or queer, monoethnic or interracial. when two characters have chemistry and history and have sacrificed for each other time and time again, and they also can't keep their hands or their eyes off each other, then i'm pretty sure that that's a love story.

straight or queer, monoethnic or interracial, it shouldn't be about these simple labels. it should be about how well written the relationship is. it should be about chemistry, and history, and sacrifice.

because i'm fucking sick of all the hollow, forced romances in media no matter the genders of the participants. i'm sick of lazily written, shallow relationships where any two people sharing the same space for any extended period of time will simply fall in love. it's boring, it's repetitive, and as a writer myself it drives me up the wall!

romance stories suck! and everyone knows that romance stories suck. between twilight, and most of the entire YA genre, and love triangles (so boring), and romance used as poorly-written throwaway subplots in Hollywood movies, the world is in agreement that the romance in western media is simply dreadful. and yet we still want love stories. it's an entire genre that sits at the heart of the human experience (<3), and yet one which so few of today's best known writers seem truly able to capture.

i don't think that i'm the only one who feels this way, either. i suspect it's actually a large part of why fandom is so romance-centred in the first place, that we're all just starving for a good love story.

(btw i think fandom has a reputation for being something that as a whole that it is not. it has this reputation for straight up demanding things and harassing people until they get their way. while unfortunately there are a few people who do this, they're fucking annoying and i swear that they're far from the majority.

in my experience fandom is mostly about writing a five thousand word story at three am while drunk off your ass because it might make someone whom you've never met smile, editing it in the cold light of day, and then posting it. expecting nothing. sometimes getting nothing. and sometimes getting someone send you kudos or a comment so heartbreakingly wonderful that it makes you smile in return.)

11. so once again, it is all about the writing.

i want to see Sam and Bucky get together in the mcu, not because they would be a gay couple but because i genuinely believe that their story has potential to be an amazing love story.

and i know the mcu isn't about the romance. it's why in my personal opinion we haven't gotten a lot of good canon romances besides Peter Quill and Gamora. and i don't think that the mcu should be all about the romance either. i fucking love the action and the fighting scenes. i love the comedy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier had no romance and it was a fucking treasure, it was an amazing spy-action-thriller and it made my little gay heart dance. Thor Ragnarok had no romance, and it was an utterly brilliant comedic spectacle action film. not every movie needs romance.

but mcu Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes were doing couple's therapy and fixing a boat and walking off into the sunset together in tfatws. they were inseparable on the battlefield. they've got a dynamic. it's beautiful, it's romantic, and it's gold.

a budding relationship between them in the next movie would be a good way to explore both characters more without the narrative feeling too stilted and separate. at the end of tfatws, both Sam and Bucky fans found that their respective fave felt somewhat underutilised and that their characters were underexplored.

now, that problem would be even more difficult to remedy in a movie, because the plotline of a movie needs to be really tight to work (giggity). and we know that the central conflict of the movie is gonna be action-based (which is good), but we still need each character's personal journey and growth to tie into the main conflict. (which is another issue that some fans found with tfatws, that these characters didn't really feel connected to the action-based plot on a more personal level.)

if Sam and Bucky are already in a relationship, however, this whole dynamic changes. first, their relationship has already been set up for nicely since TWS and through tfatws and they would officially be the best-fleshed-out couple in the mcu. but most importantly, a relationship gives them a perfect vehicle to explore both of their pasts comparatively and connect them personally to the action-based plot.

do you want to establish that Sam is a little too trusting and naïve? then establish this through his relationship with Bucky, and through showing his placing his trust in Bucky. (rather than through having him sympathise with a villain who threatened to murder his sister and his nephews).

perhaps you want to show Bucky recovering from his trauma? show us how comfortable he is with Sam. they get along, they're enjoying each other's presence, we see more of Sam's life and of his family, and then let Bucky tell Sam something that's raw and dark and honest about his life as The Winter Soldier. something about a memory, one that he only just recalled. he's opening up. and maybe what he tells Sam is even something that sets up the future action-based conflict, to ground that in something real.

you want to explore that Sam has trauma too? do this through Bucky. he tells Bucky a story about his time in the military. in the form of a flashback, he shares his own story of loss to evoke before the audience the shared theme of feeling at fault even when you're simply a helpless bystander to an act of pure destruction.

then, action sequence! and it's directly connected to Bucky's time as the Winter Soldier. explore the grief of someone whose life the Winter Soldier tore apart manifesting into a villain perpetuating the cycle of pain. establish your villain.

Later, Sam is dragged into battle against this villain for protecting Bucky. But Bucky doesn't want Sam to protect him. He feels guilt for what he can't control and he doesn't want Sam getting hurt because of him. Bucky reminds Sam that he has a family, one who needs him and who loves him. He tells him to go home.

Sam reminds Bucky that he's a part of that family. And that sure Sam's a hero and his job is to protect anyone and everyone, but that he's doing it because he wants to. It's not simply to prove that he can, or to prove that he's not a bystander (this connects to Sam's trauma here), but that he's doing it to help people.

and this gets Bucky thinking about who he is and what he's doing here. is he a hero who stands by Sam's side? or is he an ordinary man who stands aside? or perhaps, does he stand alone? what does he stand for? Maybe Sam knows. But does Bucky?

Sam and Bucky fight off the villain again, and for the first time Bucky meets this adversary face to face. And Bucky recognises this villain, and has a flashback to the genuine pain that he inflicted upon them in the form of the Winter Soldier. Bucky freezes mid-fight, he almost dies, and Sam has to save him.

Sam chews Bucky out for almost getting killed because he was afraid for him. but Bucky takes this the wrong way and goes off to fight the villain alone, or perhaps to die alone, he's not quite sure.

He puts up a half-hearted fight. He apologises for what the Winter Soldier has done, and he waits for the killing blow, when Sam swoops down and he saves him. He asks Sam why he saved him and Sam calls him a moron. And then, Sam asks him what sacrificing himself would solve. He tells him that you can't choose your past but you can choose your future (connecting to his own experience of loss and guilt and grief). And that no matter what Bucky Barnes still has a future, whether that's as the Winter Soldier or the White Wolf or just some dork with a day job. And that he has a future as a part of Sam's family too.

Sam fights the villain, and it's toe to toe. He delivers a few good blows, but receives a fair few himself. And then the villain tears off his wings, first one and then the other, in a manner reminiscent of what the Winter Soldier did to him in TWS. Through Bucky's eyes there's a flashback to highlight the parallels. Sam gets back on his feet and he fights his best fight, but is now losing.

And then the heavily injured Bucky steps up and fights by Sam's side, and only together do they take down the villain.

"So... I inspired you, huh?" Sam teases with a smile, utterly exhausted. "With my heroism and-"

"You inspired me." Bucky said, equally exhausted. "Let's leave it at that."

Together, Sam and Bucky go back to the safety and warmth of their family. Sam fixes his wings. Sam goes back to being Captain America. And Bucky... he's around, but it's unclear what he's doing.

That is, until the very end. When Sam is in a fight, and suddenly Bucky shows up and helps him out.

"What are you doing here?" Sam asks.

"I've made up my mind." Bucky says. "I'm the Winter Soldier. But now I'll save lives, Sam. Now, like you, I'll be a hero."

Sam smirks. "So does this make you my sidekick, then?"

Bucky smiles. "C'mon, at least make me a partner." He says.

"How about co-workers." Sam says (in flashback, he remembers back to the death of his last on-the-job partner).

"How about friends." Bucky says, with a wry look.

"Bucky... I don't want to see you put your dumbass self in danger." Sam says.

"Oh, and it's ok for you to go running off into danger on your own all the time?" Bucky asks.

"Yes." Sam says stubbornly. "Absolutely it is."

"Why?"

"Because I'm not a dumbass?!"

"Sam, if you think I'm not gonna be watching your back for the rest of time... then you're the biggest dumbass I know. And I don't care if you need me or not, I will be there for you."

"Because Sam, you're more than Captain America. You're more than a good soldier. You're a good man. And I think sometimes, the world forgets what the difference is."

...or something like that.

(i only spent like 15 minutes on that. you know if i were actually writing this movie i would come up with something much better. and if anyone from marvel is seeing this, yes i can come work for you. i will make the time, let's do this thing right!)

finale

at the end of the day, whether or not the mcu chooses to make Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes a couple, it's their decision. and they don't owe me anything.

okay, so soohyun.

or rather, gaon’s feelings toward her. this is more my interpretation than anything, but after rewatching three times now, i think i’ve got a good understanding of what’s going on.

so here’s the thing: soohyun is frustrating. she’s manipulative and stubborn and if not for a lot of her suspicions toward yohan, she’d probably still be alive and gaon would probably have warmed up to yohan a lot more quickly. but he adores her.

when he tells yohan she’s the world to him, he’s not lying, and it’s for the simple fact that up until yohan, she and the professor have been all he’s had. tbh for this discussion, i will probably exclude jungho from most of it because we already know a lot of his manipulation was intentional. soohyun’s was just as bad if not worse, but she thought she was well-meaning. she wasn’t, but that’s not the point.

the point is she’s all gaon had. whenever anything happened that reduced him to tears, she would cry and confess her love to him. she entered the police force to ‘keep rescuing’ him. he trusted her more than anyone in the world, and he loves her.

but it’s so easy to take all those love confessions and the simple fact that she’s always been by his side and misinterpret that as romantic love. he really, truly loves her, but i don’t think he realized that it wasn’t that kind of love until probably the same day she died.

i think he knows that she’d always be there for him, and rather than just being worried that he’d be overstepping their friendship, he’s already got himself convinced that being romantic with her is a strange concept. but when she starts winding up in danger and he worries that he’s going to lose her, he starts to feel like maybe he’s about to lose out on a very big step in their relationship, and out of sheer confusion and impulse, he kisses her.

that kiss was just plain awkward, y’all. it’s been discussed before, but kdrama kisses are typically pretty uncomfortable to watch anyway. but this one wasn’t just your standard brush of the lips in slow-motion to the tune of a romantic song. soohyun wasn’t feeling it. gaon wasn’t feeling it. it wasn’t what either of them had expected it to be.

naturally they still love each other very much. naturally, gaon still adores her. they both immediately know that that moment was definitely not the moment when the two of them were supposed to kiss. gaon thinks the order is wrong, but i’m fairly certain soohyun thinks the kiss itself was wrong. but again, they still love one another so deeply that they work it out. gaon did a lot of introspection about it from that point on.

as for what exactly their relationship was, i’m not certain. familial, most likely. best friends, probably. a little bit of both? all i know is that gaon doesn’t start rushing toward confessing to her until he realizes there’s a chance he might lose her, and desperation does things to people. i genuinely believe that had he not had any reason to fear for her life, he’d have been perfectly content rejecting her for the sake of keeping their friendship.

So episode 9 ripped me to shreds...let's unpack this rollercoaster...

First off, YiDiao Nation how are we doing? Bc I'm 50% dying and 50% living like...can Nat just fight in every show he so good??? I am rooting so hard for Diao this whole show and the way he conveys his anger, disappointment, worry, anxieties, sarcasm is just ?!?! *chefs kiss* 😤

I was screaming at the top of my lungs for the entire dinner scene like YES KING TEAR THIS MF APPART🤪

On a lil side note...how we feel about Diao's parents? Bc currently I'm so on the fence about it... also does this mean Diao DOES remember this "terrible thing" that happened? I need answers just like Diao needs em from Yi. The kitchen scene was short with little dialogue but it conveyed so much Nat's body language for Diao is absolutely spit on and is a different Diao from the start of the series (yes character progression) and Max's delivery of Max stuttering was the cherry on top. The dog scene had me confused like, Yi you think getting him a dog is gonna fix all your problems??? But maybe itvhas smth to do with this accident from the preview, well have to see...

On to KueaLian...listen...what the fuck. It was 90% the absolute cutes most wholesome shit I've even witnessed. I was so happy parts 1-2 and I was like "I'm sure noting could possibly happen even if its ep9" (*note absolute sarcasm) and of course it happend...*sigh*... But I'll get to that, first:

They have me in a choke hold - they chemistry is insane both in physical displays and just plain old romantic/platonic shit. The way Zee delivers Lian's bomb ass love confessions left and right just absolutely sell the idea that Lian absolutely adores Kuea through and through and shit this man is smooth AF I was squealing like a mF through out all their scenes their so fuckibg cute immmmm- 😭😭😭

The bath scene was so adorable and made me tear up with the discussion...too real man. 🤧😭

Side note Foei is amazing and Poppy breathes so much life into his chacter with legit just his facial expressions, I can't help but smile every time hes on screen. King shit👑

And then it all crashes down into a million pieces by something that's been foreshoadown for like the past 3 episodes; this whole thing with the lands and owner ships of Kuea's family fortune? (I dont think I understand it that well tbh)

Now on the one hand, I'm pissed that this happened bc Lian had been set up to do the proper thing and explain all of this to Kuea, bc there is no way in gay hell this wasn't done for him IMPOSSIBLE and then they said - "oops no he finds the papers" just on Lian's desk???"

Your telling me this man has hidden the fact he has low key high key stalked Kuea and all that jazz and he just leaves for smth tells Kuea to go to his office and leaves those there??? Mf are u stupid???

Finishing off on a lighter note...SynNuer y'all Y E S ALL OF IT YESS. While their whole scene was short I'm really happy it was there. The whole football bit was hilarious gotta love the 3 lil Shit™ energy so fun and annoying in the best way possible. Nuer is a friend now and it seems both him and later on Syn realise shit is up with Kuea - straight up communicating through their gazes just AH they are so AH (Syn looking at shirtless Nuer okay👀👀👀) they just have such nice energy around then as a pairing I'm hoping they get some development even if were nearing the end...partially BC imma need a pallet cleanser if I gotta deal with YiDiao and KueaLian's shit next episode god dam...

A/N: Bakugo’s is long i went feral, Kirishima’s too

𓆝 Midoriya says it first. He’s very open with his emotions so the second he realizes expect to be told. You guys are probably just hanging out, nothing big and flashy it’s just the two of you. He feels super comfortable and he’s just so happy, he starts to realize that whenever he’s with you there’s just this massive amount of love in his body. He just looks at you, says, “Y/N I love you,” and gives you a surprised, but genuine look. It startled both of you tbh, but he’s so relieved to hear you say, “I love you too,” just because it was so unexpected he honestly thought you would panic.

𓆝 Todoroki has a hard time expressing his feelings so unlike Midoriya, you’ll have to own up and do it yourself. He honestly doesn’t know what love feels like so although he knows you make him feel warm and comfortable, he doesn’t recognize that the aching pull towards you was love. When the words, “I love you,” come out of your mouth he just stares at you. He’s so shocked because you love him? You? Love him? He’s confused, says, “really?” You give him a little peck on the lips and he’s saying it back before pulling you back in for more.

𓆝 Iida is very professional about it. He’s not exactly old fashioned but he wants it to be a memorable moment. He probably realizes when you’re cuddling with him, head pressing on his chest as you yawn a little and snuggle closer. He immediately starts planning, picking the perfect day and place. When he asks you to a date the following day you find yourself engulfed in his arms on the dorm’s porch. The sun is setting, it’s perfect. “I love you,” he whispers in your ear and your expression makes him giddy. Surprise, happiness, even a little bit of excitement coats your eyes. You bring your lips to his and plant the softest of kisses on his mouth before whispering, “I love you too,” right on his lips.

𓆝 Bakugo is a boy who has one of the hardest times showing weakness, and that shows a lot in his relationship with you. He hates showing you his cute side, refusing to do anything remotely related to a romantic relationship outside or in public. That’s why when he does confess, it’s in private. It’s super sweet when it’s just the two of you, Bakugo feels safe enough to let his guard down and just feel comfortable. It’s one of the cutest moments, he’s laying on your chest as you play silently with his hair. Suddenly you feel him shift and he’s looking up at you with the most beautiful look on his face, eyes practically glassy with tears of simple realization. “I love you,” he says. It’s not a grumble, it’s not said roughly, in fact it’s the softest you’ve ever heard him. Give him a kiss, mumble “I love you too,” against his lips, and he will forever be yours, you’re the only person he ever feels safe enough to say that to. Whenever he says it now, always in private, he says it in that sweet, soft voice and it melts your heart every time. He’s not one to say it often, so whenever he says it, you know it’s truly genuine.

𓆝 Kirishima has his heart on his sleeve always! He tells you fairly early into the relationship but it’s not scary early, probably 3-4 months in. It’s not extravagant, planned out, nor is it private. It quite literally accidentally slipped out of his mouth in the dorm kitchen. It was domestic, you’ll give him that. It was said behind you as you cooked dinner for everyone, you, Kirishima, and Denki were in charge of the feast. Kiri simply came up behind you as you stirred and said, “you always look so cute when you cook, makes me love you even more.” He doesn’t even realize what he’s said until you stopped stirring and Denki is jumping in pure excitement. You said it back after the intial shock, but no one was more shocked and confused then Kirishima in that moment. Denki 100% told EVERYONE and they teased you both for a whole week.

𓆝 Kaminari quite literally said it in his first interaction with you. Saw you the first day of school and couldn’t get you out of his mind so the second he got the chance he walked straight up to you and stated, “you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen, I think I’m in love with you.” It wasn’t a serious confession but he told you almost everyday after that how much he loves you, even before you guys start dating. He doesn’t expect you to say it back right away, nor does he need you to. His only concern is showing you how much he means it when the words, “I love you,” slip out every morning before first class.

𓆝 Shinsou watches as you play with this random street cat and is instantly in love. He’s a whore for cats and seeing you of all people playing with the sweetest little kitty just filled him with absolute adoration. He literally just blurted out, “I love cats, I-I mean you!” Just take him the sight of flustered!blushing!shinsou and give him a kiss and say, “I love cats too.” He gets what you’re trying to say and smiles like a giddy little kid.

Lucifer:

-He really didn’t like you upon first meeting

-He hated how he couldn’t intimidate you into not being a nuisance the way he could with most of his brothers

-But, to be honest, you had gained his respect rather early on

-I think, even though it may have annoyed him to no end, Lucifer was very fond of your bravery a lot of the times

-The way you would stand up for Mammon or that time you protected Beel and Luke from his outburst

-Courage is not a trait one would usually associate with humans, especially when more superior beings like demons are involved

-Your humility was also a characteristic of yours that he, surprisingly, was really fond of

-And your overall mercifulness was something to be congratulated as well

-I mean, him and his brothers put you through so much shit and for you to forgive and move on without an angry word at any of them kinda speaks on its own

-I think he understands, to an extent, the reason you’re so loyal to the people you care about too

-He has a certain devotion for Lord Diavolo and his brothers, more than he lets on

-To him, having someone like you around is something to be appreciated

-Because you are similar but also completely different and nothing like he deemed you to be at the beginning

-yo i think you remind him of himself back when he was angel tbh

-He’s sort of tired of saving your ass tho because you are very just, so you feel the need to help people all the time which leads to you getting involved in fights

-Bring him his 20th cup of coffee for the day please, it’s hard being a single father of 8 children (yes I’ve added Lord Diavolo he counts as one of the kids)

-He’s the definition of this incorrect quote I stumbled across a while back

-Ok so this random human comes to DevilDom and has the audacity to slap his hand away while he’s trying to steal from Diavolo’s castle????????

-You’re coming at him with rightfulness and honor and your presence is gonna hit him like a truck

-He also appreciates your patience with him when it comes to anything that involves him talking about his emotions and thought process

-Believe it or not, he warms up to you in less than a day...?

-It’s probably because he’s a navy commander and he’s used to having soldiers around and you sort of remind him of that

-Out of everyone, he reacts the least when he sees how you carry yourself because to him it’s second nature

-Even if he does tend to slouch most of the time

-Almost dropped to his knees and started worshiping you when you yelled at Mammon to give Levi his money back on your first day

-And then a friendship started to blossom (im not friendzoning y’all, relax)

-Levi has a tendency to just walk into your room with his laptop, point at the screen which is paused in the middle of an anime and go “Look, the protagonist is a knight. You’re also...really knightly. I like the protagonist. I, uh I like you too, I guess.”

-He loves how honest you are because he knows that no matter what you wouldn’t lie to him

-“MC, do you think I’m a yucky otaku?”

-“No.”

-“But-“

-“No.”

-“Oh ok.”

-But on the inside he’s like 🥰🥰💞💞💞💞

-I just think that a knightly MC would connect on an emotional level with Levi for a lot of reasons, idk

-He’s gonna be a sputtering mess when he realises how much effort you put into this relationship (platonic or romantic) and how loyal you are to it

-He takes a while to warm up to you because for some reason your overall demeanour reminded him of Lucifer lol

-It didn’t take him longer than a week or so to come to the sudden realisation that you are way more pleasant than his brother

-Like his daddy, you manage to earn his respect pretty quickly after that

-He just thought the way you handled everything that was thrown at you in DevilDom was very sophisticated but firm nonetheless, if that makes sense?

-Like, you weren’t itching to escalate fights or anything but your tone of voice could easily end a whole conversation if need be

-You were still a human of course, it would be real easy for some low rank demon to kidnap you or something

-But for some reason, your confidence seemed to intimidate a few of the weaker ones into leaving you alone

-Obviously, that didn’t mean you were completely safe or anything

-There were still others that could effortlessly overpower you

-Even so, Satan found it sort of reassuring that unlike some humans, you weren’t one to back down without a confrontation

-Don’t get me started on all those times you rebelled against Lucifer, because that’s what truly got him to get to know you better

-He found you pretty interesting and then that interest sort of evolved into actual fondness

-Another thing that caught his eye was that even though you have very strong feelings about justice and fairness, you are completely level headed most of the time

-And patience, while it’s something he can manage, is the one that he has been trying to control for centuries

-He learned a lot from you about behaviour, whether you intentionally taught it to him or not

-And if there is one thing Satan thinks highly of; it would be knowledge

-Therefore, from that point onward, your existence was so much more precious to him than your soul could ever be

Asmo:

-What can I say about our sweet Asmo?

-You could have the personality of a trashcan and he’d still love you

-You were so polite and honourable from the beginning to the point you managed to get the attention of the Avata of Lust himself????

-Your righteousness always sort of nagged him because he low-key believed Diavolo snuck in another angel into the program, I-

-And for some reason, your loyalty to everyone in general ticked him off immensely at the beginning

-He is so desperate for your attention, he will tattle on his brothers just to get you to yell at them and then comfort him

-Your nobility still catches him off guard every now and then

-Beel appreciates your honesty to him too because he can count on you to tell him when he’s doing something wrong

-And he sort of needs the validation that even though he blames himself for a lot of things that took place in the past, his brothers and you are more than ready to forgive him (even if they didn’t blame him to begin with)

-Rather than respect, Beel puts a lot of trust into you, which I would believe to be more intimate

-If it’s just the two of you hanging out, he has an easier time opening up about Lilith because he knows you would never judge him and respect his feelings enough to let him get it out of his system

-You always share your food with him and give him a bigger portion and he goes so soft-

-Like who allowed you to be this generous?

-Tbh, he thinks it’s sort of refreshing having someone like you around

-Beel has been surrounded by demons for millenniums now and he’s gotten used to their...uh ‘evilness’
