I just noticed that the secret spring of revival has two grand poes. One could possibly be the king, and the other is right where Link woke up in botw on the surface. I think the shrine of resurrection didn't quite work as the Sheika intended, I think it just sped up the inevitable reincarnation process that Link and Zelda already go through. I think botw/totk Link has a different soul than the one from a hundred years ago did. And might be why his amnesia was so bad, he was literally just reborn moments ago with a brand new soul. And due to this reincarnation being sped up like it was and in the previous Links body, these two Links are basically the same guy. He is the Link from a hundred years ago but slightly to the left. He might have a different soul now and have a hard time remembering his past, but he's still Link. Ship of Theseus but with Link i guess. Is it the same guy if he has a different soul than before and has trouble remembering the past? I would say yeah it's the same guy. And I don't think the previous version of himself from 100 years ago would be mad at him for "replacing" him, someone needs to be there for Hyrule and Zelda and if it wasn't him specifically a slightly to the left version of himself is good. And botw link didn't exactly ask for the role, he was just kinda created and kicked into the world he was told he has to save.
Although this is just speculation. I'm still staring at the grand poe at the spring of revival suspiciously. Because it is right where botw Link woke up on the Surface and that seems not coincidental
It would also be very angst if Link ran into himself while in the depths, like oh hey is that poe ME. I think they would have a lovely conversation actually, once they're done freaking out. Alive Link freaking out at first seeing a poe version of himself, and poe Link freaking out at first because is that HIS BODY MOVING AROUND.

I wrestled with these for a week BUT, a bunch of lore for Arctic Zora. Can you tell I've been super into speculative biology lately
Arctic Zora (or 'Titans' as they're more commonly known) are a clan of Zora which separated from their mainland ancestors a very long time ago, heading north towards the polar caps. They exist beyond the Hyrule continent and are divided from their inland cousins via a huge sea, but you can find them on travels around the region. They earned the term 'Titan' due to their much larger and far more robust size in comparison to the Zora of Hyrule, and often stick to the colder climates where they are more comfortable and less likely to suffer heatstroke.
These are just a small portion of notes I have on them, and I'd like to do more lore pages in this style!

A ray-finned (actinopterygian) River Zora.
Unlike his cartilaginous (chondrichthyan) relatives, he and the other males turn red in the spring. They also gets very aggressive.

silly little headcannon please let me get my thoughts down:
so in Botw, Clavia gives Link a quest in Hateno Called “Secret of the Cedars”,
located on Madorna mountain; directly north of the village. Clavia sets up the quest by saying she found a letter in an old book in her house about a legend involving the mountain.
Tumblr media
still with me? great.
if you go into any house in the village you’ll find these sugar/flour jars. the jars are Hateno’s signature blue and white colours with a logo of a three-peaked mountain range. it’s kinda hard to see, but it’s there. i think those jars are part of Hateno’s agricultural business.
Tumblr media
it would make sense to associate the village with the mountain cedars because of its proximity and uniqueness. the odd placement of the trees is noteworthy. so noteworthy in fact, that hylians were writing folklore about it (evidence being Clavia’s letter). but that’s not all…
the tree-mountain motif isn’t just on jars; it’s design is literally EVERYWHERE in the village. painted on sheds, houses, furniture, crates, gates, pots, bowls, clothing, books, HELL EVEN THE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER HAS THE LOGO ON IT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
safe to say, Hateno Village itself is associated with the Madorna mountain cedars. my guess is that this connection was made the very day that Hateno was created. the tree/mountain symbol is woven into Hateno’s very foundation which probably extended to their farming business, which is why the design on the jars is so interesting. i actually made my own Hateno jar! the hylian translates to “Secret Cedars Imports” :)
Tumblr media
thanks for listening!

Do Rito lay eggs??
Strictly talking BoTW/ToTK here, Wind Waker Rito have something completely different going on. Rito Village doesn't seem designed for egg layers, they sleep in hammocks for starters.
Amali and Kass's kids are all pretty close in age though. The girls mention their older/younger sisters but that could be in the order they hatched. Maybe Kass took time off from being a deadbeat historical research and helped his wife incubate 5 eggs for however long that takes.
If they do have live births I would assume the babbies couldn't be very big given how narrow Rito hips are (they probably have hollow bones too) so the gestation period could just be short. Beaks do pose a problem for live birth (yikes) But maybe they're born with soft beaks like foals' hooves? Or maybe there's an internal "shell" that protects them, maybe a soft shell like a reptile.
Opinions please!!!

Do you think Link has chronic pain in the new magic arm (and probably elsewhere honestly, shoulders back neck.....) do to it being a rather abrupt emergency transplant and because of how he lost his previous arm
A mixture of "does this man even have a medical license?" Raru, and gloom fucking with his nerves and muscles

I've been actively avoiding the fan communities to stay spoiler-free up to now, so forgive me if this has been brought up before, but quick question. Does anyone recall how Rhondson and Hudson got engaged almost immediately after you brought her in as the town tailor? Because between that and Mipha's intent to give Link the Zora armor as an engagement gift, I get the impression that Hyrule women make marriage proposals by offering articles of clothing to their intended husbands.
With that in mind, it suddenly makes a lot more sense why Zelda was so excited in her diary entry about the tunic she made for Link, why she went to so much effort to keep it secret, and why she arranged for him to find it in the throne room. The same throne room, mind you, where the seat of power is conspicuously repositioned to be off center, as if to make room for TWO thrones (which you can see in the puppet Zelda's illusion). The implications sort of speak for themselves.
Anyway, I just wanted to ruin y'all's day with that added layer of angst over the situation.

Whoever designed the TOTK Gibdos deserves both a promotion and a one-way ticket to hell, for simultaneously being the smartest designer alive and also making me want to throw up.
AS IF THEY COULDN’T GET CREEPIER. NINTENDO WHY.
I like to think the frilly things on their necks are gills but for sand? No idea how that’d work, maybe they inhale it through the mouth, then run it though some organ that extracts oxygen from the sand’s minerals before pushing the depleted leftovers out the gills? It’d probably make it easier for a Gibdo to stay buried for longer, and they also look extremely cool so no complaints haha

I think i have an idea why everyone thinks the house in Hateno is Zelda's not Link, hear me out.
During Botw, we were running around all over the place despite the fact we have a house, most of the time we do not sleep there, we either do not sleep there or sleep in the stables or near camp fire (admit it, you rarely go there to sleep), you go there to put a neat weapon on display and leave. My point is non of the villagers would even notice if someone lives there or not, even with a big fat sign "Link's house"
Now post Botw, Link has to bring Zelda somewhere, of course not in the castle, theres nothing there, but he does have a house that he rarely uses. And when she started living there, the house started to feel like someone lived there and people finally noticed that someone lives there. And who do they see living there, the Princess of Hyrule Zelda.

Since Echoes of Wisdom is a top-down Zelda game, I’m not expecting the game’s story to be super complex or involved, but I’ll admit I am curious about certain characters & implied background events.
In particular, I’m curious about who these three unique NPCs from the Gerudo Desert region are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The woman with the golden trident is most likely the current Chief, given that I’ve seen screenshots of her standing up from a throne holding the trident aloft are circulating around. But who are those other two people?
I suspect the woman in white might be the chief’s sister, since her hair resembles the chief’s hair and the gemstones she’s wearing are the same color as the Chief’s. Also, Nintendo would not have the gonads to put an official confirmed lesbian couple in their kid-friendly game no matter how G-rated “This lady’s the queen and her wife is also the queen” is as a concept. However, the woman in white also seems to be a person of importance to the Gerudo given that the guards are answering to her. There was mention of an “Ancestral Cave” elsewhere in the trailer. Could she maybe be a high priestess or keeper of some sort of sacred site of worship or burial who acts as a spiritual leader to the community?
As for the figure in blue with the gloves and the hat—they’re definitely also Gerudo, but they’re dressed in a very unusual way that sets them apart. My first guess was that this was an older woman, maybe the chief’s mother, who’s acting as an advisor given that they were standing next to the throne in the aforementioned screenshot. However, they don’t look that old, given that we’ve seen old people with wrinkles in Zelda’s court in the form of Imoa and her brother, so I have another guess.
This person might actually be a boy, the current Gerudo prince, who’s either too young to take an active part in political life, or is maybe the younger brother or spouse of the chief who’s relegated to acting in a more supportive role because of his age and gender. Their style of dress is much more formal and masculine, being somewhere between the draped turban and robes you’d expect Indian royalty to wear and the iconic blue and gold khepresh crown that some Egyptian pharaohs wore.
It’d be really interesting to get some insight into Gerudo politics, particularly if a prince who isn’t Ganondorf is involved! Also, partly because it’d give us some insight into what “went wrong” with this particular version of Ganon if we have a baseline about what the role of prince in Gerudo culture is normally supposed to be like.
Speaking of Ganon, assuming he himself isn’t just an “echo” sent by some greater force, it looks like he himself might’ve been actively looking into whatever force Tri was connected to based on how the tablet behind Zelda in the room where she was being imprisoned resembled the waypoints Tri can use to warp you around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given that the Rifts seem to be “stealing” land tiles and making phantom echoes of monsters, and that the rift opening ability is tied to Ganon’s own “wand” that he uses to cast spells, could he have his own little helper buddy who’s given him the power to play Sim City in his own little pocket dimension? Is Ganon’s motive like the angry guy from the popup window in Sim City 2000, where he’s picking up his toys and starting a new Hyrule in the Dark World because Zelda’s dad cut back on transit funding for that year’s budget?
Tumblr media
Seriously, though, it’d be really cool if Ganon functioned as a “dark mirror” to Zelda during what will presumably be his actual final boss fight. (Come on, do you really think he’d be fine with playing second fiddle to a new antagonist if he had even the tiniest glimmer of his original personality left instead of being a soulless shell like in ALBW? He’s absolutely gonna be the final boss.)
