I've based the conversations in this piece on similar things Matty has said about gender. GENDER AND SEXUALITY ARE NOT THE SAME THING, THOUGH. She could feel her phone buzzing in her pocket all throughout her 3 pm meeting. It was distracting, but not necessarily out of the ordinary. With time zone differences, it wasn't unusual for Matty to be texting her while she was at work, asleep in the middle of the night, or early in the morning before her coffee. Even when she'd finally wrapped up her meeting and left the conference room, the messages on screen weren't cause for concern. Receiving texts from her friends and colleagues like "omg your boyfriend," "Matty sure loves the drama, lol." and "PUT A LEASH ON HIM HES INSANE" just came with the territory of being Matty's partner. She didn't mind it at all. In fact, sometimes she found it funny.

She scrolled past several texts from her friends, spotting Denise's name "two countries now. Bets on which one's next?' with several confusing emojis. she frowned, her heart sinking slightly. Was this more serious than a regular Matty rant? a fan kiss? a polarizing meme? with apprehension, she reluctantly checked the news, whispering "oh fuck," under her breath when she saw the headlines.

She tossed her laptop and meeting notes at her desk, rushing outside as quickly as possible, and scrolling through her call log to find Matty's number. She clicked the elevator button, willing it to arrive faster by repeating "c'mon, c'mon, c'mon." knowing that it wouldn't help, she still gave into the urge to click the button repeatedly and curse when the elevator failed to bend to her will. Finally, she decided to just take the fire exit, using the stairs instead.

She clicked Matty's name on her screen as she made it down the stairs, bringing the phone to her ears.

An overly cheerful female robotic voice announced in her ear that "The number you have dialed is disconnected."

"fuck. fuck. fuck. fuck. fuckkkk!"

she paused in the middle of the staircase, leaning against the wall and attempting to calm her mind with several deep breaths. She knew the only person who could help her right now would be Denise.

"No, I get that, but- like- so, you haven't heard from him directly?" she bit her lower lip.

"Not yet, no. But I wouldn't worry about it, love. this isn't his first foreign government ban, you know." Denise giggled, sounding as proud as a mother of a child who just learned to take their first steps. "doesn't that sound impressive? He's like a less secretive James Bond."

Impressive wasn't exactly her first thought, but she knew that if Matty is safe right now, he's probably impressed with himself. The thought made her crack a smile. "Knowing Matty, he'd probably say that he'd love to be a super secret spy who gets pussy, but he's anti government espionage, so he can't be James Bond."

All she could really do in the moment was send a barrage of messages that covered the entire spectrum of human emotions: from expressing concern for Matty's safety, to accusing him of messing with her heart, to begging him to give her a sign that he's alright, she found herself unable to think about anything else for the rest of the afternoon.

Just as she'd walked through the door of their shared home, she nearly jumped out of her skin at the feeling of her phone vibrating in her hand.

Matty: Call rn? ❤️

She instantly hit the "Video Call" icon on her FaceTime screen.

The line rang once, twice, and then "yo!!" Matty attempted to greet her before being interrupted by someone off-screen. She could faintly tell that it was Ross. "No, no. I'm just on FaceTime with her- yeah- it's fine....sorry, Darlin.' I'm just-"

"Next time you plan a government rebellion give me a courtesy warning in advance, will you??" she interrupted him. All the feelings and worries she'd been attempting to repress came pouring out of her. "I had no idea where you were for, like, all day. And- why was your phone turned off, anyway! We have a deal. You promised-"

"oi! it wasn't off! Breathe, baby. It wasn't off. Just...no reception at the venue, and then at the airport. Breathe! I love you, yeah? I'm fine. Look. Look at me, I'm fine. I promise.' He flashed her that boyish smile of his and cut through the haze of spiraling thoughts in her mind. Finally, she looked directly into his eyes on screen, smiling at him.

"Hi! There she is." He giggled.

"So, where are you now? is everyone with you? are you all safe?"

"Airport. Yeah, we're all good. They've just got us in some room while they process some documents or some shit. I don't know. I don't care." She watched him walk over to the other side of the room and take a seat on an uncomfortable leather couch.

"Is everyone else with you as well? Ross okay? the band? Polly and Gabi?"

Matty smiled at her insistent questioning. "We're all here. let's do a head count, shall we?" He hit the "Flip Camera" button so she was no longer seeing him, but had a view of the rest of the room. "Here's George, sleepy as always. John's playin' a game on his phone. Say 'hi' John...over here we have Hann. right next to the trash, where he belongs....Here's Ross. Jamie's here I promise, he's just looking for a toilet. Say 'hello' to Polly, who's on the hunt for granola or some hippie shit." Matty giggled when Polly brushed the hair out of her eyesight to give him a look. "And last but by no means least" He cover the camera lens for a dramatic reveal, "it's Gabi! see? everyone's here and we're all okay. Happy?" He turned the camera back to him, returning to his spot on the couch.

"...for the time being." She couldn't help but break character and laugh when she saw him roll his eyes. "Seriously, though, I'm proud of you.'

"but?"

"there's no but!' She rebutted a bit too eagerly.

"I know you. There's a 'but.' Let me hear it. Go on."

"I had just wondered if....maybe it would've been safer for everyone if you guys just pulled out....you know?"

"Pulled out of the lineup, you mean? like just not done the show?" Matty's demeanor shifted. He straightened his posture, taking a deep breath and running a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, you could've returned the money. Made some kind of....statement about how, after learning of the governments laws, you found it morally repugnant, and refuse to perform there. Safer for you guys, the fans, and less costly."

Matty always respected and valued her opinion, but he was also always honest with her. "I suppose it would- I suppose it would've been but thats not the point." He could feel his bandmates eyes shift towards him. They were all invested in the conversation now. "Because then they'd have just replaced us. Found another artist to perform that slot and our so-called 'stance' wouldn't have done anything. Maybe lasted 5 seconds online, and then everyone would have moved on. The point here wasn't to morally congratulate ourselves or make ourselves feel good. It's about actually doing something. sometimes discomfort is necessary."

She could do nothing but smile, in awe of him. Their relationship meant a lot to both of them, but one of her favorite things about it was that she never had a chance to forget why she fell in love with Matty in the first place. "That's why I'm proud of you." she simply stated.

"well don't be."

"Matty, stop that. I kn-"

"No because I'm not ACTUALLY gay. I'm not ACTUALLY Malaysian. Okay? I get to make out with my mate, make a little speech, and then jet set, off to some other country by the time that everyone's made him home from the show. And- sure, I'll get banned, but my job and my life is entirely unaffected. I'll go on doing what I do, it's no skin off my back. George got up from his seat to retrieve a water bottle from one of the bags, patting Matty on the shoulder and mumbling "exactly." as he passed by.

"why'd you do it then?" she asked, genuinely curious.

"Well, I'm everyone's favorite villain at the moment. Lots of eyes on me. Figured I'd make it mean something."

She saw a smile flash across his face as he considered her question. "Yeah," he nodded slowly as he made up his mind 'Yeah, I checked online and....seems like fans made it out okay, so...yeah, I'm happy." He looked into her eyes through the camera. "I do miss you, though."

"I miss you, too. Oh, speaking of which! Put Ross on the phone, would you?"

Matty smiled knowingly and handed the phone over to Ross. "You deal with this one. I'm out."

Ross's face lit up, ready for the challenge. 'Hey, mate!"

"Ross, I want you to know; message received. Loud and clear. You make out with MY boyfriend? In front of the whole world? AND you do it for a good cause? I see you, mate. I get it. This ain't over, though. I'll be the better kisser in the end."

Hm, interesting question. I think that Silas would be able to find the USB one way or another, either through a tracker on it or hacking into surveillance cameras to follow her. He would most likely not be too interested in getting her, but would think of her when he leaves ... which means that he'll be back for her.

This movie is really cheaply made. It's shot like it's some secret person recording these kids. It's awkward zooms and hectic cuts. But it also adds to the charm. It makes it feel... real. Like we're seeing them right now in these moments, not putting up an act.

i think atsumu is ultimately the more touchy feely one, so it's usually him reaching out first. i think he likes holding hands specifically more than kiyoomi does--kiyoomi is more of a hug/kiss person than a hand holding person (he doesn't particularly enjoy how sweaty his own palms get when he holds atsumu's hand, but atsumu doesn't seem to mind and so it's mostly okay). kiyoomi's expression of physical touch comes more in the form of a hand on atsumu's shoulder, playing with atsumu's hair, resting his head on atsumu's shoulder, etc etc

hmm i'm actually flip flopping back and forth on this one. i think canonically atsumu is Not Great at waking up on time/early, so i suppose kiyoomi probably wakes up earlier. i do think it'd be very funny though if they were That Couple who is always asleep. they are so sleepy all the time. if they don't have to, they will not be up before noon. i think this is especially fun if you compare it with osamu and w/e misc partner you want to give him, who will be up at the crack of dawn if you let them. they find sakuatsu's sleeping habits to be the bane of their existence. the four of them try for a morning coffee double date and sakuatsu don't even show up. they are simply too sleepy.

omg ok i want to talk about this fic all the time. i'm really, really proud of this one and i looove hearing about people's experiences reading it. i hope you enjoyed it! anyways, i think something that i wish someone would ask me is about the scene where atsumu gets picked for the national team! i want to talk about the inspiration for it, which is this video from gotham fc's twitter of kailen sheridan getting picked for her national team for the 2021 olympics (spoiler but she then went on to win gold!!!). anyways, this video actually owns my heart. she's so excited and her team is so excited for her and it's just so sweet and, like, man, yeah. it's about the team and the friendship of it all!! it's also cool because sheridan was dealing with a pretty bad quad injury and her recovery goal was to make it to the olympic team--she recovered ahead of schedule and made it onto the team and just. yeah. it's a little incredible. that particular scene in path to gold is based off of that real life moment--because real sports can be fun i promise!!!--and i wanted to try to capture the feeling of camaraderie and support and love that i got from that video. there's a line, "Kiyoomi is laughing at him, forgetting all composure and looking just as excited, just as proud. He can hear the rest of his team talking, screaming, reaching out to shake his shoulder. Barnes yells something like, 'I knew he would make it!' and Inunaki calls out something like, 'You earned this!'" and that's my attempt at creating the supportive team environment in that video. i hope i was able to communicate that :)

I have no idea why but something about this show..... I can never remember anyone's fucking name. Every time I watch a new season it's like "Which one is Mike again? Who's that kids older brother? Who is this?"

It was a regular day at the JYP building. The staff were walking in and out, doing what ever they where tasked to do. In the midst of the ordinary, two very special people stick out. Stray Kids' very own Lee Felix and JYP's ace herself (Y/N).

Ever since they met the pair had been stuck by each other's side and it's going to always be like that.

They were the trouble makers of JYP, they both made it their side job to trouble and annoy not only the other artist but the staff as well, be it doing random things while they were working or just staring at them, everyone knew that it wasn't your typical day at JYP if someone didn't complain but the two.

(Y/N) and Felix were the people you just couldn't help but love but sometimes you just wanted to strangle them, in a good way of course.

Today, they decided to take a break from annoying the staff though, but that didn't stop them from making a noise in one of the practice rooms.

There the two were, sitting on the floor, both out if breath from the heavy dance battle that just occured, each one wanted to prove that they were better than the other, just your normal friendly dance battle.

As the two sat there panting, Felix couldn't help but stare at (Y/N). They'd been best friends for years but yet everytime Felix looked at (Y/N), he'd find something new about her, be it another mole on her face or the fact that she kept getting more and more beautiful in his eyes.

He was not in love with her no, being in love with you best friend was wrong, at least that is what Felix kept telling himself but he just couldn't help it. He'd find himself staring at the ceiling late at night just thinking about you, the things you'd do, things you'd say to him before you went to sleep, it all made him want to curl up in a ball and melt.

"Felix? " (Y/N) called out to him, making him snap out of his tiny daydream.

"Huh? Did you say something? " he would say in his thick Australian accent, making your heart flutter.

"I asked you if you wanted to go grab some coffee. " you say, looking at him with your sparkling eyes that Felix claimed would make the stars jealous at how bright they shined.

Felix would always say things like that to you, it was his way of showing you his appreciation of you. He'd come out of nowhere and give you compliments that would always make you smile. The boys always teased the both of you because of that, saying that you two were practically flirting with each other.

"Just get together already! " Han would always scream when he saw you two together, leaving the both of you staring at the ground in a blushing mess.

"Yeah sure. Beating you drained my energy. " he smirked. You scoffed and shoved his shoulder.

"Clearly I was the one who best you. " you said sassily, flipping your hair.

"Careful there, your wig might get snatched. " he said and you burst out laughing.

There were three sides to Lee Felix, the absolute angel that would always make you feel better after a long day of practice, the jokester that would usually prank with you or you and last but not least, the memester, Felix had a meme reference for every situation and it never failed to crack you up.

"Get outta here. " you say, wiping the tears that slipped out from laughing do hard.

"Can't handle my memes. Weakling. " he shook his head.

"Hush hush, let's go loser. " you stand up and walk out of the practice room.

"Wait for me! " Felix yelled and ran to you, grabbing you hand and pulling you to the JYP café. The small contact made you blush, Felix was internally squealing at the fact that he actually held your hand.

Once you got to the café, you both sat at your usual table which was at the back of the café that was practically hidden from everyone's view, you liked this place because it felt like it was you you and Felix were there and no one else mattered, but of course you told Felix that it would be the perfect place to plan pranks.

When your orders arrived, you immediately took a sip but regretted it when you burnt your tongue with the hit liquid. Felix, who decided he just wanted a juice laughed at your misfortune and took at sip from his juice. You glared at him and pouted.

"Not funny, I burnt my tongue. " you frowned at him.

"Who told you to drink the steaming drink when you know it's gonna burn then. " he shook his head while laughing and handed you his juice. "Here, this will help. "

You took the drink from him and took a sip, the cold liquid making everything better. You look up to see Felix staring at you with a small smile on his face.

"What? " you asked.

"Who just kissed me. " he smiled wider, making you chock on your spit.

"What?! "

He gestured to his juice, "Indirect kiss. " he pointed at the straw. "I know you want to kiss me, but would the real thing better. " he folded his arms.

"What makes you think I want to kiss you. " you try to hide your nervousness.

"Why wouldn't you. " he brought his face closer to yours. Every freckle on his face clearly visible, you could practically count it.

You gulped and looked into his eyes, forget your eyes shining brighter than the stars, Felix's eyes were shining brigter. You swore you could see stars in them.

"I- " you couldn't form proper sentences.

"Does this make you nervous Princess? " he asked, he always called you this but for some reason, it felt different this time around.

"Felix what are you doing? " you try to move back but he cups your face. His hands were so soft and warm, you wanted to lean into them.

"I'm tired of hiding my feeling for you. I like you (Y/N)... No, I love you. " he says, his voice soft and sincere.

You didn't know what to say, your words wouldn't describe how you felt right now, so you let your actions do it for you.

You layed your hand on Felix's and leaned in, placing a delicate kiss on his soft lips.

Felix, no doubt was surprised by your action but none the less, he kissed back. You felt him smile into the kiss which made you smile.

"I love you too Lix. " you said against his lips.

You broke apart and stared at each other, smiles plastered on both your faces.

"Let's go on a date. " he said standing up, making you get up as well.

"Right now? " you asked.

"Yes! Let's go! " he dragged you out of the café, your drinks forgotten.

In the distance, the rest of the boys stood there and walked the newly formed couple leave.

"Finally! " Han yelled, startling everyone in the café, "Sorry. "

**Four Months Later**

You and Felix were back in the dance studio, sitting on the floor again but this time there was camera in front of you.

The both of you had been happily dating for fours months now and everyone loved you too together, even JYP himself secretly shipped you two.

Alas, now it was time to come out to your fans. You say there together, holding hands, staring at the camera. You didn't know how this would turn out, but you knew that you could overcome anything as long as you had Felix with you.

You were just worried about him, he had just finished promoting for his new album and you didn't want this to affect anything, but Felix was the one who convinced you to do this.

You switched on the camera and waited for people to start coming in, immediately the comments started flooding in.

This wasn't your first time doing a live with Felix, but before had been where you two just chilled and chatted to the fans, you knew they were in for something big.

Felix sighed and squeezed your hand. You both greeted the fans and proceeded to talk.

"So we have something to tell you guys-" Felix started.

"We're dating. " you say, immediately your eyes went to the comments, mentally preparing for something bad, you were shocked when the comments started coming in.
