#the thing Lucifer really hates is humans blaming him for their own evil

Text
So Lucifer Morningstar, the fourth of the fallen, (retired) ruler of hell, the Devil himself, is a character in DC comics, appearing in the Sandman comics, his own solo run and various other comics
He is absurdly powerful
The thing is, Lucifer still has access to his Divine power, unlike other fallen angels, and is actually more powerful than other angels
What does this mean?
Lucifer was the guy that shaped the matter to create the stars, an ability he still has
Enter one Danny Fenton
“Omg(oh my ghost) I’m a HUGE FAN of your work”
Just Danny fangirling over the literal Devil because of stars and space

About the meeting over time, isn't there a story in the Bible where Jesus gets tempted by the devil and they like. Travel together? I'm a little fuzzy on details because uuuuh I'm not religious and haven't been raised so, but it would be really funny for Adam to show up during that and just. Bicker over the fact that "You haven't changed, haven't you, Luce? You can't help but want to ruin everything He has created, can't you?" And just yelling at each other because Adam is still not over it, and Lucifer doesn't necessarily believe that giving humans the knowledge to understand their free will was a bad idea.
And Jesus is in the background, picking flowers and singing with birds. Dude is vibing while the two entities are having a dick measuring contest.
I can't think of any other times? Maybe when Metal started surfacing as a music movement.
I can definitely see this Lucifer having the same attitude towards humanity as the Neil Gaiman's Netflix series Lucifer. Not really hating humans but maybe a little bit. Annoyed by the fact they blame him for their shitty choices. He's as hands on as God is when it comes to tempting humans himself, and the fact they blame all the shit THEY caused on him makes him boil. They can ruin their own life pretty well without his help.
So I can't think of MANY reasons why Lucifer would visit Earth. Less for evil, more for leisure maybe? Like with Music?
Went to a circus once and he hasn't been the same since.
-🐇
They don't travel together, Jesus is doing his own thing and after 40 days of not eating, the devil tries to tempt him, but he's shut down fairly quickly.
Just like in Good Omens, he also bickers with God about Job, and there's a few other instances here and there where he's seen having power and influence over Earth, maybe not by straight up TALKING like in the temptation story, but he's name dropped here and there. One would need to decide whether that's Satan or Lucifer in Hazbin's case though.
With Neil Gaiman's Lucifer, I'm guessing you mean Crowley...? GO doesn't have a Lucifer really AS FAR AS I KNOW. Crowley actually takes the place of The Devil for a lot of the biblical instances in which he appears, so I guess that still works!
But omg the idea of Lucifer changing his whole aesthetic when circus were invented..... that's really funny. Hmm, or did Lucifer actually plant the idea in a human's head and THAT is how circus came to Earth...? So many possibilities lmao

The one thing I've never understood about the "John was abusive" crowd is that as far as I can see they universaily love Rowena? Last time I checked Rowena was canonically an abusive mother, physically. verbally, and psychologically to Crowley when he was a child but apparently that's okay? Now I'm not saying John was perfect, he was neglectful and too hard on the boys imo but he wasn't in Rowena's league yet somehow she gets a free pass whereas John apparenly deserves a horrible death?
Yeah, a while back I had an anon with a sort of similar question of why John gets such different treatment than Bobby and Mary [X]. With Rowena, I think some of those same reasons apply.
Often screentime = sympathy. Even when John was alive, we saw comparatively little of him, and he was often brought up specifically to add angst to Sam & Dean's story for years after his death without him getting to actually play out his conflict and emotions onscreen for us. You have to actually take the extra time on your own initiative to see John's side and find sympathy for his situation. In contrast, Rowena's screentime only got longer and more favorable towards her after her introduction. When she was best buddies with the Winchesters and funny and cool and had her very human fear of Lucifer I think it was easy for fans to forget she not only was an off-screen abusive mother to Crowley but was introduced to us via gratuitous hotel staff murder.
Bad meta plays a part. There's that certain subsection of fandom who has been very invested in blaming John for everything they hate about Dean as a way of pretending they don't actually hate canon Dean. None of that really applies to Rowena, so there's no underlying agenda to harping on about how abusive she was.
With Rowena, there's also an additional factor of timing. With John, we're introduced to the idea that John made highly questionable parenting decisions as we're getting to know Sam & Dean as characters and our idea of them is partially shaped by that knowledge. With Rowena, we already knew Crowley long before she appeared. Not just that, but we already knew Crowley as someone who was a more or less evil demon frenemy to the Winchesters on his very nicest day - even if you liked him, he was rarely all that sympathetic. So between not really seeing Crowley as nearly as sympathetic and having already established a picture of who Crowley was years before Rowena was introduced, it's a struggle for it to feel as fundamental and important to the story.

Ya know, I'm pretty sure what's going to happen with Raphael is a lesson in "don't just take second hand accounts and form a judgement about someone else without giving them a chance" and you're kinda failing that. Can we also stop pretending like Beel is an innocent marshmallow? He's a demon who's literally eaten other demons and implied to have eaten humans too and clearly is not that oblivious, and I don't blame Raph for being frustrated with the brothers when we know they can be.
........dude I'm like joking?????????????
Qmdodudidngdidodmxnx
I'M 100% JOKING!???? YOU GUYS GET THAT RIGHT??????????????????????????????????????????
FUCKING HELL DUDE
jfc
I actually like Raphael as a character, I've been excited about him coming to the game since forever. This is the same kinda shit I pull with Lucifer (aka getting MC to annoy him for fun) and he's my second favourite character
Don't know whether I should laugh or cry qndndkdkdhjdidnddjdndn
Raphael straight up tells MC that he knows they both have a bad idea of one another and that they should put that aside to try to form their own opinions of each other
Also a lot of the game and characters work on the notion of "don't judge a book by its cover". I wrote a whole mini essay on why that makes Mammon such an interesting character. The whole of S1 tried to sell Lucifer as a cold sadistic evil person only to show that he's an overworked overprotective dad.
Plus the reason I like Raphael so much is because he's a morally grey character (the same way they hinted all the angels and the celestial realm to be)
Last lesson I was ragging on Beel for only being able to list two good things about Mammon...
ALSO BEEL TRIED TO KILL MC FOR TAKING A BITE OF HIS CUSTARD (or whatever the fuck it was in S1) ANDKDUEIDKKSMS YEAH HE'S DEFINITELY NOT uwu or whatever
All that being said:
Tumblr media
This sentence ends with "It was really depressing"
^ this wasn't about demon! Beel this was about angel! Beel. Lucifer took him in after this point, Lucifer who's an asshole took him in and showed him that his strength can be used to protect instead of destroy.
In the Mammon vs Raphael UR Raphael keeps putting down Mammon and then later chasing Mammon while throwing spears at him for picking up broken items that people have thrown away and trying to fix and sell them - an actual normal thing to do
Raphael ain't no innocent marshmallow either. He's a complex character. He's snide (yes he is. This isn't a second hand account. This is the way he talks about Michael and to MC when they guess his name wrong) and self-righteous. He also likes to stitch and he stitched the brothers clothes when they ripped them as angels. Like Michael, he probably loved the brothers and may even still miss them.
So yeah, tldr:
1. I was joking😐
2. Ik Beel ain't a sweet cinnamon roll or whatever💀
3. Raphael's a complex character with dimensions. What he said/did to Beel was shitty. NOT because Beel's a uwu baby or whatever but because it was a shitty thing to do to ANYONE who was struggling. But that doesn't make Raphael a shitty character, if anything it makes him more interesting
4. Though I don't hate any of the characters, Obey Me! is a game where players are allowed to choose their own options and make their own interpretations of things meaning despite the overall story still being the same each player will have their own unique experience. So there's definitely gonna be people who hate Raphael and adore Beel and.....that's okay? It's their game and their right to feel about it however they want to🤷🏻
5. I'm going to keep choosing options to antagonise Raphael (and Lucifer and occasionally Mammon & Satan) because a.) I think it's funny b.) My MC is an OC with their own personality and perspective of things. I play them under the assumption that they don't get to see things from "above" like us. They'd have their own biases and make their own judgements that'd fit the personality I assigned them all the way back in S1. And it fits their character that they'd be protective towards the brothers simply because they know them better and consider them family. The same way we'd side with our friends over some stranger who possibly hurt them in the past.
@avatar-mikazuki couldn't have put it in better words:

What if Mc was a person who don't take shit from anyone, demon human or Angel, and just was this small sassy piece of dynamite? How’d everyone react?
MC who takes no shit - brothers + undateables
Satans pact and chapter 16 spoilers
Lucifer:
So you've chosen death
This man can't even handle the smallest sign of defiance
an actual bitch boy
"You are here because you were picked to attend, you were listed to be under my care, this is MY house! You follow MY rules-"
"hold that for a second, I'm calling Dia."
He's so easy to rile up
You feed off his quick temper, he makes it too easy
But he deserves it
Too many times he thinks he can just control you and his brothers
You've cut Mammon down from the ceiling, when faced to Lucifer you just handed him the rope
"If you want someone to hang so much, do it yourself, old man, it is your fault after all - if you didn't leave your cursed valuables lying around Mammon would of never tried to steal them and get himself cursed."
Mammon:
He both scared of you and in awe of you
He's surprise you're still alive at this point
Of course you're alive, the great Mammon is looking after you
You have definitely called him out for being a tsundere
"So, you wanna make out or do you wanna keep yammering on?"
"I- You can't just be saying that to demons!! Why would I wanna kiss some human-"
"Kay, I'm going to go see if Levi wants to-"
"WAIT! DON'T DO THAT!"
Whenever he steals something from you or the others, you go on a man hunt
"Sell your own stuff! You always have something new in there! or are you that scummy and bad with money you need to steal off others ?"
Please have some mercy with him
In general, finds your sassy attitude interesting, always wonders what the new comment or roast will be
Levithan:
Scared and in awe but times it by 10
Is mostly terrified because you make him upset
Didn't expect to be called a guilt tripping bitch
"You're busy? I get it, I mean - why would you ever want to spend time with someone like me? I'm just some nobody, a yucky otaku who no one wants to be around-"
"I get having a low self esteem but shitting on yourself at EVERY given chance and then go on to be about how yucky and worthless you are when I just wanna spend time with someone else?! You can fuck right off!"
He thinks you're a delinquent, has gotten you a cool jacket so you can put it over your shoulders
You can pat him on the back for at least being able to stand up for himself, he's always ready to brawl and never shys away from calling his brothers out
Always lets you wear his headset and just watches as you cuss and sass any petty player
Satan:
It seems you keep choosing death
You wanna get sassy and back talk the literal embodiment of wrath????!
So - do you want be buried or cremated?
You take none of his shit
He respects it just as much as he hates It
We all know he has good control over his anger but there's a limit on how much of your attitude he can stand
"You're so petty, do you have to be a smart-ass about everything?"
"that's rich coming from the guy who threatened to cut off my limbs because I wouldn't make a pact wth him."
When he doesn't respond you just nod to yourself, checking your nails
"Yeah that's what I thought."
If he needs to come up with a good come back he always asks you
Sits back and watches you argue with Lucifer
Asmodeus:
He loves it until you call him out
Didn't expect to get psychologically profiled
"At first I thought you were just a narcissist but now I see you're just a Insecure man who placed his value on his looks and how people perceive him-"
" You can't seem to handle any type of bad press about you-"
"Oh? Did you make yourself look bad then blame it on someone else because they just wanted to do what they please? Oh boo hoo!"
You could end this man's career with a single word
But, if you're 'no shit' attitude is targeted to someone else? He's all over it
Will sigh dreamily and watch you chew Someone out
Unless you get super roasty and rude - he encourages you to talk to him with an attitude
"You're so hot when you talk like that~"
Knows you aren't all sass, he definitely enjoys your more softer side
Will invite you to a sleep over so you two can gossip and rant over a bottle of wine and do a mini spar
Beezlebub:
What prompted you to be this sassy? He's baby!
I mean, he did throw a fit when you ate his custard and destroyed your room
Sure, constant hunger is painful but he can survive without one custard
Yeah- he can be up for roasting and being chased out
"You've told me you literally want to eat me! How is that comforting?! You're hunger tantrums are already bad enough but now I know I could be on the menu?"
"No thanks! Do the hokey pokey and turn your goofy ass around!"
Has a habit of being your stool, he doesn't mind really, finds it pretty adorable actually
You're so small compared to demons so when a gym jock is being rude about you or Beel
You just snap your fingers and he'll sit down, hunch over and put his hands over his head
You'll just step on his palms (you take off your shoes angrily whilst telling the jock demon to not move an inch) and just go off
He understands where alot of your cusses come from, he agrees with you and feels guilty on his behaviour
Really likes it when you stand up for him; normally no one does that because he's such a big guy
Belphie does it but things can be abit disheartening when your twin Is the only one rushing to help you
Belphegor:
You know what? Understandable, please, fire away
Just keep making jokes and references to all the bad things he's done
He needs to be put in his place
The dude has literally killed you! If you weren't going to give him an earful when you recovered then what was the point?!
This man is one of many bastards in this school
Either watches you go off on people or sleeps mid arguement to stop hearing you call him out
"I'm innocent, I haven't done a single thing wrong in my life."
"wELL-"
He will always respect you for looking out for his twin, when he can't do anything he always looks to you to step in
Has held things out of your reach just to watch you get mad
UNDATEABLES↓
Diavolo:
You've chosen a fate worse than death at the cost of sassing a pure man
He gets upset but is very understanding, it's his companions who will handle your fate
I honestly, CANNOT, think of a reason you'd want to be sassy or rude to him
If it's just in general and not meant to offend him; he thinks it's very attractive
You've got a silver tongue and able to make a comment without much thought
Very impressive
His type is Lucifer very simple
You'd call him out for letting dangerous behaviour happen at the school and putting loads of faith into Lucifer
Perhaps point out how reckless inviting humans to a demon realm - who could easily be killed if they don't have an escort with them at all times
But other than that? He's safe
Barbatos:
He is your executioner
He can handle a jab
But he will remind you he was the one who saved you if you get too out spoken with him
that only gets him more cussed out though
"So you're aware of pretty much every event that happens, Right?"
"You could say that."
"Then shouldn't you use those abilities to then help anyone and stop all sorts of tragedies?"
"My Lord has stopped me from using my powers freely."
OKAY THAT'S SOMETHING YOU CAN CUSS DIA OUT ON
In general, you just make comments about how vague he is
He's too mysterious that it's just ridiculous
You want to get to know him but he just gives you that smug look and amused laughter
Solomon:
Can you really be blamed for being Sus of him?
He's so suspicious, for what?! For what reason?!
He doesn't like being called old? Depending how disrepectful you wanna be, you like to use the nickname "Grandpa Solo"
"I'm surprised you aren't actually some evil Wizard trying to get the brothers pacts so you can be the most powerful human alive and take over the Devildom."
"Who says I'm not?"
He's witty and smug
You're sassy and explosive
You're a duo that should be feared
The two powerful humans banding together? I'm sure there's a website on the two of you with theories of your evil plans
Simeon:
Finds your attitude delightful!
Didn't want his kindness to annoy you but it did, sometimes it is a crime to be Too nice
His favoured company are all sassy bastards so it only makes sense he likes you very much
"You gave them bangles that made them into SAINTS! that's fucking weird! And you had them turn into angels despite the fact they have truama from heaven!"
as mischievous as Simeon can be
His angelic nature really does pop out alot
"aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you want to go ape-shit?"
"Of course not, there's no need but thank you for worrying about me, I know I can seem force and strange to you but I really do enjoy being kind to others."
"disgusting."
Almost fought him during the TSL event; you didn't expect him to do a 360 and become super strict
Despite your hard shell you care alot about the people you're close with and can't stand to see them upset
Luke:
It appears you're trying to throw hands with a 10 year old
He does seem demonphobic
Why are you always denying your true feeling??!! Just admit you like demons!
You try not to swear and be outwardly rude Infront of him
But sometimes this little boy really tests your patience
"Okay species-ist."
Is your main response when he's being a tsundere
He's the one who's the safest from your attitude

my secret galaxy brain reading of spn s11 is better than yours
or: why season 11 is good actually. this is a long-ass meta, so it's going behind the cut
some disclaimers before we get going
absolutely all of this is accidental. nobody does this shit on purpose. this is ~my interpretation~ or whatever. i'm not actually trying to argue the writers meant to do this lol. what i'm saying is that this is the way to make season 11 make sense in your brain because it makes sense in mine and it's one of my FAVORITES. it could be one of your favorites too if you stop limiting yourself
there is heavy discussion of sexual violence in this meta so read safely etc also spoilers for all of s11 obviously
unless you watched the anime, i've seen more supernatural than you have, so i'm right >:)
for the uninitiated, the basic plot of season 11 is that eons and eons ago, before there was heaven or hell or earth or humans or angels, there was only god (chuck) and the darkness (amara). amara kept destroying what god made, so he and the archangels locked her away in a cage, which removing the mark of cain from dean's arm opened. amara escaped and dean was the first thing she saw, so she spends the season using some kind of thrall over him to make him feel drawn to her and unable to hurt her, and also looking for chuck so she can give him a little payback.
ALRIGHT HERE WE GO
season 11 & sexual violence
you don't need to look very far to find examples of sexualized violence and outright sexual violence on supernatural, but s11 is lousy with it. just to name a few examples:
amara's "thrall" on dean, which we will absolutely get into more later
crowley's jokes about altar boys and the tastes of catholic priests
ALLLLL the pedophile jokes made when crowley was raising baby amara
angels torturing cas and threatening to cut his genitals off, only to send in hannah (an angel who formerly had unrequited romantic/sexual feelings for him) to play good cop(/honeypot??) in hopes of making him talk
the return of lucifer, who possessed sam (spn has a history of equating possession and sexual violence) and is heavily implied to have raped sam in hell, and the MULTIPLE times he menaces sam throughout this season, including forcibly touching his soul
lucifer possessing castiel and using him to enact violence on the winchesters, his loved ones
i absolutely REFUSE to acknowledge the lucifer/crowley stuff but if you know you know
the episode with the kissing curse, using "love" as a means to deliver death
dean's possession in the soul eater episode
the "chitters" monsters involving mating, orgies, and forcible impregnation
you get the idea
i could write a whole essay on almost all of these but for this post we'll be sticking mostly to dean & amara
@marcusantonius pointed out while we were watching season 11 that what amara does to dean is basically speedrun his two major attachments - sam and castiel. she starts out as a baby, someone in need of protection, and quickly grows into an adult who attempts to romance/seduce him. the feelings dean has around amara aren't feelings FOR HER, they're feelings he has for SAM AND CAS that are being TRANSFERRED onto her through means of her power. (this is important for later.)
what amara does to dean is sexualized violence bordering on outright sexual assault. compelling him to feel drawn towards her and to protect her, frequently getting in his personal space and touching his face, and even kissing more than once when he is quite literally unable to resist (it's stated many times that he is unable to kill or even harm her, so he is completely helpless in the presence of someone who makes no secret of her intentions for him, sexual or otherwise).
dean says many times that what he feels for amara is not love or desire or attraction. he can't put a name to it at all - not once in the entire series is he able to properly define this thrall she has over him, which leaves us the audience a little confused (amara asking "what IS happening between us?" in 11.06 as a teenager making sexual advances on a grown man does give me a good laugh, because it was written SO WEIRDLY)... BUT we know that it is definitely sexual in nature, and not at all something dean wants to be happening.
this is addressed kind of strangely in 11.13. the villain of the week is a witch moonlighting as a hairdresser, who puts a kissing curse on her clients. the curse must be passed along like a hot potato - if you kiss someone else, it's passed along to them. if they kiss someone else, it's passed along to them. but eventually, a monster called a qareen will show up in the form of "your deepest desire" and kill you, and work its way backwards to the original curse-ee. in the episode, dean kisses the vic (i'll point out this was also technically done w/o her consent, though it was a very businesslike kiss) to put the curse on himself and protect her. the qareen takes the form of amara, and she gives Dean this little speech:
Qareen!Amara: You're a mystery. I can see inside your heart. Feel the love you feel. Except it's cloaked in shame. When it comes to this, you can’t help yourself, so why fight it? Just give in.
then, at the end of the episode, after dean reveals who the qareen was for him, we get this conversation between sam and dean:
Dean: You seriously think the sister of God is my deepest darkest desire? Sam: She isn't? Dean: No! She can’t be! Sam: Why not? Dean: Why? Because if she is that means that I'm… Sam: Means you're what? Complicit? Weak? Evil? Dean: For starters, yeah. Sam: Dean. Do you honestly think you ever had a choice in the matter? She's the sister of God, and for some reason she picked you and that sucks, but if you think I’m gonna blame you or judge you…I'm not.
the "shame" part of both of these is really what stuck out to me - the word itself isn't in the second passage, but dean's vibes are absolutely filled with shame. to me, this always read as being shame about the sexual violence and about the complicity/weakness that "allowed" that violence to happen.
and as a reminder, sam is just a few episodes past the confrontation with his own rapist (he returns to the cage to speak with lucifer in 11.09 & 11.10, and canonically struggles with what happened there even after the confrontation ends). sam made a point earlier in this episode of making sure the victim of the curse knew it wasn't her fault her husband died, but the fault of the witch who cast the curse. sam is VERY emotionally intelligent, and i honestly believe that he was speaking as one survivor of sexual violence to another here. what he's telling dean is something victims often need to be reminded of: it's not your fault. you weren't complicit, or weak. you didn't have a choice. you don't deserve blame or judgment.
we've had bad guys make sexual threats at both dean and sam many times before this and a few more times after, but as far as i can recall, this is the only conversation in the entire series that even attempts to address the impact of that particular kind of violence on dean. it's short, and strangely written, but nonetheless: there it is.
season 11 & the dean in the closet
for the purposes of this post, i'm not going to go through the entire series and find examples to try and prove dean is bi and has feelings for cas. if you don't believe that then what are you doing here? we're skipping to the goods.
actually, i always got annoyed at people who read the fake-amara's speech in 11.13 (or any of the other times people spoke about dean's shame regarding amara) as being about dean's sexuality, because in my mind it was ABSOLUTELY about his being a victim of sexual violence, which was far more important to me, as it is discussed far less often.
BUT, knowing what we know now (that cas was always canonically in love with dean, and it's all but canon that dean really was bisexual), i'm willing to entertain another notion:
Sam: ...you're what? Complicit? Weak? Evil? Dean: For starters, yeah.
the "evil" bit never really sat right with me as part of the narrative of sexual violence, aside from touching on dean's general self-loathing, but it fits the narrative of being closeted MUCH better. dean, a self-hating homophobic bisexual, would probably use a similar word, if not something heavy as "evil," to describe the way he feels about other men. it's a malevolent feeling. (if you're like me and ascribe to the jackles headcanon that dean resorted to turning tricks to make food money when he was underage, we could also consider the extremely fucked up fact that almost every queer man dean's ever met is someone who hurt him.)
dean is ashamed of who and what he is, and the way he feels about cas. living like that, that's violence. he lives violently day in and day out with that feeling. (and amara knows it. it's worth nothing that she uses cas to communicate with dean MULTIPLE times in this season, both by carving messages on his body and psychically, through his own connection to dean - and when dean "betrays" her to rescue casifer, she's horrified at whatever she sees in his head.)
equating sexual violence to the violence of being closeted
but what's amazing about this weird badly-written little 11.13 conversation (and indeed, the season-long plotline of dean and his shame) is that we don't HAVE to assign it to the purposes of being about sexual violence OR about being closeted. it can be and IS both.
my favorite reading of this is that BEING IN THE CLOSET IS INHERENTLY A VIOLENT AND TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE. many of the same feelings are involved: shame, guilt, self-loathing. sam's comforting words to dean - that he will not be blamed or judged - are equally applicable in both cases. dean is a victim of sexual violence, and he is also in the closet, and both of these experiences are traumatic ones, and they are intermingled with each other in a big way (again, if you're into dean-turned-tricks headcanon, they are intermingled INSEPERABLY - the sexual violence being one of the direct causes of dean not wanting to accept or address his own sexuality).
the bait-and-switch
the real galaxy brain moment of this whole thing begins at the end of 11.22 (an otherwise lackluster episode that played sam's lucifer trauma for laughs how dare they ugh god whatever that's off-topic but i HATE IT) when amara and chuck finally have the confrontation she's been fighting all season for. she is attacked by witches, demons, angels, and then stabbed by lucifer himself, before she's finally on her knees before chuck, and then we get this little exchange:
Chuck: I'm sorry. For this, for everything. Amara: An apology at last. What's sorry to me? I spent millions of years crammed into that cage alone and afraid...
maybe you already know where i'm going with this. a cage isn't so different from a closet when we're working with metaphors, right?
amara talks about her grievances with chuck many times throughout season 11 - that he was spoiled, that he created the earth to stroke his ego, that he couldn't handle her as she was. and once he finally makes his appearance he tells it his own way - that he had no choice but to lock amara away, that she couldn't stand the things and people he made, that he did it to protect people. but something about THIS conversation in particular - even though it's not written into the dialogue - gives me a particular kind of vibe.
there is something innately, unspeakably WRONG with amara. i don't mean unspeakable as in very bad, i mean unspeakable as in LITERALLY undefinable. it's just like dean being unable to put a name to the pull she has over him. no one talks directly at it or about it, they go in circles around it, but facts are facts: amara simply couldn't be allowed to exist as she was because there was just something innately wrong with her. and it's this conversation in particular, the first one they have together onscreen, that really slams that feeling home for me.
the entire time chuck and amara are talking, the camera repeatedly cuts to dean - he is so visibly upset that the first time i watched this, i was certain he was about to jump into the middle of things and put himself between the two of them. we're meant to believe that dean has trouble hearing this because he "cares" about amara, but i have a different take.
i think it's empathy. real, actual empathy - not the kind of feeling that amara had to force out.
stay with me here. eventually, after chuck tries to lock amara away again, she gets her second wind, attacks him, and leaves him for dead - and as he dies, the sun dies with him, and so too does all life on earth.
in the following episode, the finale, amara finds her way to a park, where she takes in god's creation, visibly upset as she realizes that his flowers die at her touch (again, hammering home the point that there is something innately wrong with her that means she cannot live in this world), and eventually speaks with an old lady feeding the birds.
Woman: Do you want to feed them? Amara: I shouldn't. Woman: I've been feeding these birds going on 20 years now. They're practically family. And I know that makes me sound like a crazy old bat, but...heck. My husband died a couple of years ago, and my son keeps slipping me these brochures for retirement communities - a.k.a. where they send old folks to die, but not to make a fuss about it. Amara: So you hate him. Woman: Well, a little bit. Sometimes. But you know family. Even when you hate them, you still love them.
this speech brings tears to amara's eyes. what's more, she spends this entire section with her hands in her lap. after a season of killing her way through humanity to get god's attention, she is afraid to touch these birds for fear of killing them. she feels empathy for them. she and dean are connected, after all - so as soon as he began to feel true, genuine empathy - so did she.
when dean shows up to kill amara (via a bomb made out of souls hidden in his chest), she immediately clocks his plan. she practically dares him to do it, and - he can't. he is, as always, helpless against her.
what dean does instead is talk to her. more importantly, he listens to her. when she says her brother sent dean here to execute her, he tells her chuck actually didn't want this - that it was actually his very last resort. he asks her if this, the death of everything, is what she wanted, and she tells him all she really wanted was payback. again, dean EMPATHIZES:
Dean: Yeah, that's revenge. It'll get you out of bed in the morning, and when you get it, it feels great... for about five minutes. I've been there. Me and Sam, we have had our fair share of fights—more than our share. But no matter how bad it got, we always made it right because we're family. I need him. He needs me. And when everything goes to crap, that's all you've got—family. Now you might be a—an all-powerful being...but I think you're human where it counts. You simply need your brother.
what's really neat about this section, and the scene before it where amara confronts her brother, is that they mark the first times dean felt any sort of genuine emotion for amara at all - one that she didn't force out of him or one that he felt for someone else that she just took for herself. dean genuinely EMPATHIZES with her - after everything she's done to him and his loved ones, and to the people on earth, dean sees the humanity in her. that's kind of his and sam's M.O., loving monsters into men - the number of non-human adversaries who eventually became allies because of the winchesters’ empathy or liking for them or even just their influence is staggering. cas, gabriel, meg, benny, crowley, rowena, metatron, to name a few off the top of my head - and now amara.
and then we get THIS:
Dean: You don't want to be alone. Not really. I mean, hell. Maybe that's why you wanted me. But deep down, you didn't really want me... 'cause I'm not him.
(emphasis mine)
and here's my galaxy brain take: dean empathizes with amara - TRULY empathizes with her - because they're both queer (or queer-coded).
I KNOW THIS SOUNDS NUTS BUT LISTEN. this weird creepy stalkery hetero "romance" was fake on both sides all along. dean and amara are the same. that unspeakable and innate wrongness lives in both of them. they're self-loathing and furious at god for his failures and callousness, outcasts in a world that isn't for them, a world that has HURT them simply on account of them being what they are. the violence done to amara was done to her BECAUSE of this unspeakable wrongness about her - her queerness, or her queer-codedness - and we already decided this was, for the purposes of this season, functionally the same violating and traumatic experience as sexual violence.
amara's been using dean to try and replace chuck this entire season. it's some weird comphet bullshit tied in with the fact that dean was the first part of chuck's creation she ever saw. it stands to reason then that she was trying to force dean to be with her and love her the way she wanted to force CHUCK to be with her. that's part of why she started life as a baby - as someone he'd protect as he did his own sibling.
so in some weird, warped, very roundabout way, amara was enacting on dean the violence that chuck enacted on her - making him feel the same shame and weakness that chuck made HER feel when he locked her away eons ago. if amara unknowingly replaced chuck with dean, then she also unknowingly took part of her revenge on him. the only way she knew how to love someone was to force them to do it, because the only ways she had ever been loved until now involved violence - until dean and his moment of genuine empathy.
consider this final speech:
Dean: Maybe I can kill you. Or maybe I can't. Maybe if I pull this trigger, we all live happily ever after, or maybe we die bloody, or maybe it doesn't matter, because maybe there's a different way. So I'm gonna ask you again. Put aside the rage. Put aside the hate. And you tell me...what do you want?
dean is the only person in BILLIONS of years to ask her this! one queer to another! and it turns out that and all she wanted - the ONLY thing she needed - was to be understood and accepted by her family. immediately after this, amara summons chuck to their park, and the two of them talk it out in what is genuinely a very moving scene. amara - perhaps because of her connection with dean, perhaps because she's finally admitted to herself that she does still love her brother - sees the beauty in the world now, and feels love for it, and she doesn't want to destroy it anymore.
and at the end, after she's made her peace with god, and the sun has been turned back on, amara says:
Amara: Dean, you gave me what I needed most. I want to do the same for you.
and what do we get at the end of this episode? mary winchester, risen from her grave. dean's family. and - SPOILERS FOR SEASON 12 - though at first mary rejects dean (and sam) as being the same children she remembers from 1983, after a long and rocky road, at the end of the season, they eventually come to a reconciliation where she sees them for who they truly are. it's never ABOUT being queer because this show uses the fucking hays code when it comes to dean's sexuality, but it's still about being queer!!
dean gave amara what she needed - acceptance from her family - and she gave him that back in turn. all it took, the entire time, was one SHRED of empathy from one queer to another. all dean had to do was recognize her - REALLY recognize her - not as a replacement for sam or cas but as who she really was. and he saw himself in her, and the empathy that followed was genuine because it was the most natural thing in the world. in the end neither dean nor amara needed the "romance" they thought they did/were forced to want. they never did. they only needed acceptance and understanding.
supernatural is always about family and the power of love, and this season is no exception.
other great parts of season 11
if you're still not convinced, season 11 is full of other things that make it amazing:
GOD'S RETURN. after SIX YEARS he's back, this is canon, we finally get to hear what he has to say. they did more with him in a handful of episodes in this season than all of season 15
also, something else returns after six years. i'll give you a hint: it glows hot in god's presence. it was last seen being dropped into a motel trash can.
and of course the big one: lucifer and sam. what great callbacks to seasons 4-6 when lucifer and what he did to sam in hell was actually scary and mattered a lot! lucifer returns to being scary in this and i can't get enough of it.
this is also inseparable from sam's arc involving his faith - he begins praying again, having visions again, and is GUTTED when those prayers and visions lead him back to the place of his worst trauma. he gets to MEET GOD this season. it's fucking insane
the inherent melodrama of castiel, someone loved and trusted by the winchesters, being possessed by someone who they hate and who has hurt them. you get all of the sam drama with him accidentally trusting lucifer with his soul and his brother's life, and all the dean drama where he watches the devil run around in his boyfriend. also, misha collins does an uncanny impression of mark pellegrino. it's actually really creepy
somehow, they managed to make metatron, a deeply hated villain by all, ACTUALLY LIKEABLE. for TWO whole episodes. it was NUTS
this season starts off rowena's long arc with lucifer and her lucifer trauma that eventually becomes the catalyst of her bonding so profoundly with sam <3 best friends forever <333
sam and dean bond with a pair of canonically gay hunters who DON'T DIE
billie is introduced in this season and she's super hot and cool and awesome
eileen is also introduced in this season. her arc mirrors sam's so well, it's SO good. i never though i'd care about sam and a girl who wasn't jess, but i care about them SO MUCH it makes me insane. if you don't love eileen you're wrong!
anyway, watch season 11. it's weird but it's really fucking good. THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK

What about a darling that goes to Simeón for help avoiding the brothers? I can see him being an infantilizing Yandere for sure!
I think there’d be a lot of resentment in Simeon that’s not really explored in the game, and I may’ve subconscious, accidentally, very purposefully tapped into that. He just thinks Lucifer and the others are so big, so bad, it’s the least he could do to help you out. Even if his assistance is a little more patronizing than it should be.
Title: Contaminate.
TW: Implied Physical Abuse, Infantilization, Non-Consensual Displacement, and Dehumanization
~
Simeon liked to hold your hand.
It sounds sweet when you put it like that, doesn’t it? He liked being there to guide you, being there to lead you, guiding you through the trials of day-to-day life without ever letting his softened expression harden. It’d been a habit of his since the day the two of you met, when he found you crying on the doorstep of the House of Lamentation, took you by the wrist, and asked if you’d like him to see about having you moved to Purgatory Hall with the rest of the exchange students, rather than forcing you to face the demonic brothers on your own again. He’d taken you by the wrist as he showed you to your new room, kept an arm draped over your shoulders as he explained the extent of your discomfort to Lucifer, and even now, months after you’d been reduced to little more than a trembling pile of confusion and panic, you still found your fingers intertwined with Simeon’s as he walked ahead of you, attempting to find your next class before he sought out his own. You’d made the journey a thousand times before by yourself. There wasn’t a doubt in your mind that you’d be able to make it again, but that was the thing about Simeon.
He really, really liked holding your hand.
But, he could never seem to bring himself to let go.
You couldn’t help but squirm as he came to a stop in front of your classroom, arriving at his destination but making no move to pull away. You didn’t try to, either, but it was hard not to avert your gaze, not to loosen your grip and shrink at the feeling of a hundred pairs of inhuman eyes prying into your back, your arms, the spot where your skin met his, the place where the helpless, magicless human clung to the kind, benevolent angel to protect them from all the big, bad evil-doers in the Devildom. You could never bring yourself to say that kind of thing outloud, not when Simeon had already done so much for you, but it was hard not to feel… patronized when he smiled and pushed slow, steady circles into the back of your hand with his thumb. When he treated you like the blind, naive devotee every demon in the realm thought you were.
But, you didn’t have to say anything. Simeon was good at that - telling when something was wrong, even when you did your best to shove down your worries and keep your thoughts to yourself. Even when you wished he’d do the same, for your sake, if nothing else. “Is something wrong, (Y/n)?”
“It’s nothing,” You assured, hardly thinking before you opened your mouth. And yet, a question was already playing on your tongue, more of a concern than anything. A nagging, gnawing anxiety, one that’d been bothering you more than it should’ve lately. “I’ve just been thinking,” You admitted, your gaze trailing downward, coming to focus on his chest and following the swirls of his golden pendant. “I should talk to Lucifer, or… one of his brothers, at least. They’re trying to be nice, and I’ve been treating them like monsters since I arrived.”
That earned a hum, a contemplative glance. As if you’d just suggested someplace to shop, or told him a piece of trivia he could barely pretend to find interesting. “There’s a council meeting tomorrow,” He said, giving your hand a light squeeze. “I’m sure waiting another day won’t be a further insult to their hospitality. We can talk to them--”
“Actually-” You didn’t mean to cut him off, but you couldn’t stop yourself. If you let him talk, if you let him sound rational and reasonable and convincing for any longer than you had to, you’d find yourself nodding along, unable to argue in fear of spoiling his shimmering, glass-thin sense of tranquility. Reflexively, you stiffened, your apology coming in the form of bent posture and a bitten lip, but Simeon only looked on, staying silent as you tried to find the right words to go on. “I mean, it’s not that I wouldn’t appreciate your help, but… I’m afraid he might be starting to feel like you’re talking for me. I don’t want to be the exchange student he dragged to hell just so I can hide behind whoever looks the least threatening.” You forced yourself to laugh, the sound coming out too uneven, too pitchy. Simeon chuckled, but it was more sympathetic than amused. More pitying than humored. “I should approach him on my own. If he was going to hurt me, he would’ve done it, by now. I should stop acting like he’s going to tear me apart as soon as I give them the opportunity.”
A that, he smiled, finally letting go of your hand. You were relieved for a moment, already moving to thank him for being so understanding, but his palm was on your cheek before you could, cupping your jaw, tilting your head back so delicately, it was little more than a suggestion, a hint at a change until your eyes met his and you couldn’t imagine ever being able to look anywhere else. You didn’t relax, but you thought you might be able to. You could, if he just--
“And what makes you think he won’t?”
Right, right. There it was.
You weren’t sure what you’d expected.
“Demons are dangerous, lovely. You have to understand that, they aren’t safe to be around, not for someone so breakable.” His smile was more genuine, now, his thumb idly tracing over the area under your eye. You tried to look away, tried to take a step back, but all it took was a tap to your chin and a slight, wordless coo to have you fixed in place, as silent and as still as any other member of his tempered, obedient little herd. “Lucifer may act charitable, but he still took you away from your home. He still removed you from the place you belong and brought you here, where you’re powerless, where you need to rely on the other exchange students. No one blames you for holding it against him.”
“I was scared,” You muttered, beginning to toy with the hem of your uniform’s sleeve. Anything that might distract you. “I don’t hate him, I don’t hate any of them, I was just--”
“You’re lying to yourself.” It wasn’t a question. It wasn’t an assumption. To Simeon, it was a fact, and there was nothing you could do to convince him otherwise, not when he was so sure that angels were good and those no longer worthy of holding the title weren’t. “See? This is what they do, this is what he does. He’ll work his way into your mind and he’ll make you believe things that aren’t true. Clearly, just being near him is starting to have an effect on you.” He clicked his tongue, his hand falling from your face. He took you by the crook of your arm, instead, hardly bothering to shake his head before he started to tug you away from your classroom, away from your peers, away from the prying eyes and the concerned glances and the poor influences, as Simeon so often called them. “Imagine how bad it’d be if I hadn’t intervened. We should get you back to your room now, before you do something you’ll regret.”
You opened your mouth, intent on arguing, on pushing him away, on telling him that you didn’t need his help, that you didn’t need anything badly enough to take being treated like a child who didn’t know the difference between a friend and a stranger. But, all it took was a glance over his shoulder for you to swallow down the words again, all that confidence swiftly replaced with seething, brewing, frustrating fear.
You still weren’t scared of Lucifer, you couldn’t be. Simeon never let you get close enough to have anything to be afraid of. Honestly, you might’ve preferred him over your current guardian, if you ever got the chance to see the other side.
You were sure you’d find a way to live with his ‘influence’, as long as his touch left fewer bruises than Simeon’s did.

atla hcs
i’ve been thinking about this for a minute, and i wanna do a set of headcanons for how i think the brothers (and eventually the undateables) would feel about certain avatar: the last airbender characters, or something along those lines. i actually just wanted to talk about lucifer and azula, so everything else here is a bonus. this doesn’t matter, but for what it’s worth: wherever the mc pops up, they will be gn, enjoy!
also: this kinda goes without saying, but there are most definitely spoilers in here. for which seasons? i don’t remember, i watched this show when i was nine, but proceed with caution if you have yet to watch it.
lucifer
if it’s one thing you are not gonna play with him about, it is princess azula. this man is an azula supremacist, and while he might not say those words exactly, anyone would be able to tell that’s the case if they talked to him about the show for longer than two minutes. he actually wasn’t even interested in the show until azula showed up, and he will readily admit this to anyone who inquires about it. what makes it funny is the fact that her first appearance is literally, like, ten seconds, so that means he saw her and immediately knew she was the best, which, like—real recognize real. is he projecting? am i projecting? yes, no. in that order. shut up.
he actually almost couldn’t hide how proud he was when azula almost killed aang, this man is deranged. the same way he takes her wins personally, he takes every loss of hers personally as well, so when she lost that agni kai? 🚶‍♂️
the average azula enjoyer believes azula should get a redemption arc, lucifer believes azula should simply get whatever she wants, and the difference between those two things is striking.
average azula enjoyer: i believe azula deserves to heal and redeem herself. it isn’t fair that she was left with her tyrannical, abusive father during formative years of her childhood, with no one to help her or show her what it means to be good. she cannot be blamed for the way she turned out. it especially isn’t fair that she gets no redemption for evil things she did at age fourteen, for a year, while the entire show is iroh’s redemption arc, and he was doing evil for decades—he is literally called “the dragon of the west” because of it. additionally—
lucifer morningstar, resident azula supremacist: everything azula did, she was right to do, because i would’ve done the same. there was never a point at which she was wrong, it’s just unfortunate that nobody could keep up with her, her father included. the only reason why she ended up losing, ultimately, is because this is a children’s show, and good is supposed to win out. it was plot armor. if this were realistic, she would’ve beaten everyone—at the very least, she would’ve beaten zuko in the final agni kai, it’s just that he broke the rules and brought backup. at the time of the agni kai, she was literally the strongest firebender in the show. that’s actually the only part of this lucifer is right about, but you can’t tell him that.
if you ask him what his favorite quote in the show is, he’ll immediately say, “i can see your whole history in your eyes. you were born with nothing, so you’ve had to struggle, and connive, and claw your way to power. but true power? the divine right to rule? is something you’re born with.” and he will do it so well that it’ll give you the chills.
in actuality, his favorite quote is, “i’d really rather our family physician look after little zuzu, if you don’t mind.” it’s just that it doesn’t have the same chilling effect as the first one.
does he like any other characters? does he even care about any other characters? he has a deep fondness for sokka because he reminds him of mammon.  yes, and they are katara and suki, with honorable mention to avatar kyoshi.
does he hate any characters? no, but if you mention avatar kuruk or uncle iroh to him, he might get annoyed. is mildly frustrated by aang, but has the sense to cut him some slack for being twelve and the last of his kind. never speak of ozai.
mammon
toph supremacist. frequent user of the phrase, “toph is just fucking class.” knows for a fact that toph is the best and strongest bender in the entire show, and no one has ever managed to convince him otherwise. mainly because nobody really disagrees. like, have you ever even seen toph slander?
just like lucifer with azula, he wasn’t invested in the show until toph showed up, which, once again, is funny, because technically her very first appearance is only a few seconds long, so that means he saw her for a literal second and just knew. you can’t even be mad at that, real recognize real.
no one will ever see him more proud than when he’s talking about one toph beifong. he can’t get over her raw, unbridled talent, and he really never should. if you let him (so, if you’re levi), he will spend so much time analyzing her character and every single one of her strengths, from the fact that she’s the only one who knows when azula is lying, all the way down to the fact that even though she projects a tough persona, she can still be vulnerable, AND—
not only is she strong, but her personality is simply untouchable. this girl grows on literally everyone; like, even lucifer likes her, even though he’ll die before saying it out loud.
he gets so smug whenever someone asks him who his favorite is and it’s because he knows his taste is top tier, and what makes it worse is that no one can even disagree because toph is just that good.
will never admit it, but he was shaking and crying during the scene where it looked like toph and sokka were literally gonna die. was also gonna cry when toph almost drowned. basically: he is eternally grateful to suki.
his favorite line in the entire show is, “i am the greatest earthbender in the world! don’t you two dunderheads ever forget it.” it’s just fucking class.
does he like any other characters? he sees himself in sokka, he’ll tell you that much. he also knows that satan and lucifer like sokka because of him, and he found out because he heard them talking about it. to their joint dismay, they turned to see him standing behind them, grinning like an idiot, and they couldn’t even scare him into leaving them alone when he hugged both of them at the same time because, one, they didn’t really want to, and two, they couldn’t turn off their fondness for him fast enough ^_^. did they reciprocate his hug? did they stay like that for a little bit? did lucifer kiss the tops of their heads? maybe so🤨
does he hate any characters? not really, but he doesn’t particularly like azula because she scares him and makes him sad, like lucifer and doesn’t see her appeal. once tried to make a case for why she shouldn’t have a redemption arc and felt painfully human from the way he almost died. do not mention toph’s parents to him. the name ozai should also never be on your tongue.
levi
resident sokka enjoyer and suki appreciator. do not ever call sokka dumb in front of this man unless you want a proper lecture. unlike a few of his brothers, he doesn’t like sokka just because of his similarities to mammon. he also likes sokka because he relates to him on a personal level.
levi absolutely knows what it’s like to feel inadequate and outshined by people younger than you. he absolutely knows what it’s like to feel like your competence is overlooked. while he might be unfamiliar with how it feels to strategize for a war and lose a battle, but it is one of his biggest fears and it absolutely crushed him to see sokka go through that.
on a lighter note, levi has a deep appreciation for sokka’s comedic value, despite the fact that it can overshadow his intelligence. levi would actually venture to say that he likes sokka’s funnier side because it overshadows his intelligence to the point that it throws the opposition for a loop. this is the aspect of sokka that reminds him of mammon.
it also seriously warmed his heart to see how everyone missed sokka while he was away for sword training; he especially liked that episode because it was just an affirmation of the fact that sokka is an integral part of team avatar, which he really needed to see.
you know who else is an integral part of team avatar who needs to be recognized as such more often? suki. do you know how much pain levi is in every time he thinks about the lack of suki screentime . it’s a lot . suki is just too good for the amount of screentime she has, he’s sorry, but it’s true. this is evidenced by the scene of her literally running across prisoners’ heads to apprehend the warden of boiling rock. that scene speaks for itself—she and the other kyoshi warriors end up as zuko’s body guards for a reason.
he will never let anyone forget that if it weren’t for suki, sokka would still be a misogynist. she was an essential element to sokka’s growth as a character and everyone had better remember it or so help him. also , he is a firm believer in the fact that suki was the best love interest for sokka, with zuko as a close second. don’t ask questions. rip yue but argue with the wall.
his favorite line in the series?
“zuko’s gone crazy! i made a sand sculpture of suki, and he destroyed it! oh, and he’s attacking aang.”
it’s not profound or cool or anything like that, but it makes him smile and giggle every time he thinks of it ^_^.
does he like any other characters? he has a lot of love for toph and azula for the sole fact that the series improved exponentially after both of their introductions; he thinks both of them are in leagues of their own and seeing them in action just puts a smile on his face. he’s also inexplicably fond of king bumi.
does he hate any characters? not particularly, actually! he pretty much respects and appreciates everyone, except the guy who mutilated his thirteen year old son for speaking out of turn.
satan
just pick a girl. any girl. and from the way he talks about them, you’ll think they’re his favorite. he can and will go on about the girls of atla for the rest of eternity.
but since we’re being specific:
katara appreciator. azula enjoyer. basically, between him and lucifer, no tongue raised against azula shall prosper. he has a deep respect for each of their wraths. he also really must have a thing for angst because both of these characters just break his heart.
if you let him (in other words, if you’re levi), he will go on about how it’s not fair that people call katara annoying when, in reality, she just hasn’t healed from the trauma of seeing her mother’s corpse at age eight, followed by having to take care of her village, meaning she got literally no time to grieve properly, and—
call katara annoying in front of him and you might actually have to meet god for your shallow views of such a deep, complex character.
he will also go on and on about how katara would be the best bender in the show, if it weren’t for toph, who is untouchable. instead, he’ll talk about how katara almost killed pakku for being misogynistic and how she single handedly beat azula during sozin’s comet. you will frequently hear this man say, “katara aang’s master for a reason,” and he’s right.
similar to if you call katara annoying, if you call azula scary in front of satan, he’s bullying you. he’s sorry, but it has to happen. no way you’re scared of a traumatized fourteen year old, what are you, eight? or do you have no understanding of azula’s depth? both are unacceptable.
satan is the average azula enjoyer, times about seven. you simply won’t get away with speaking poorly of azula in front of this man, so if you’re like mammon and don’t like her, you better tread very carefully.
one time mammon tried to be like, “azula is too far gone to deserve redemption anyways,” and satan literally reverted to his demon form as he said: “if i were abandoned with my terrible father as a child, with literally no one to help me, and then my friends betrayed me, and then, as i was about to be crowned ruler of my country, my dumb fucking idiot brother showed up with his dumb peasant friend for backup, which isn’t even allowed, i might be mad forever too, actually—” and then he threw the nearest chair at mammon for his criminally bad take.
another reason why satan loves azula so much is because he’s convinced she’s a lesbian and satan is the most “let’s go lesbians!!!” person you will ever meet. you actually can’t convince him that she isn’t a lesbian. forget chan. nobody gives a fuck about chan.
what’s his favorite line in the entire series?
“trust me, zuko—it’s not going to be much of a match.”
like, come on. katara is just too good.
does he like any other characters (other than the girls of atla)? he’ll never admit it, but he has a lot of respect for sokka and a soft spot for him because he reminds him of mammon. he also has a lot of respect for aang because he reminds him of beel of how well he handled literally everything despite being twelve.
does he hate any—yes. never speak of avatar roku. or iroh. or ozai. for good measure, don’t mention general zhao either.
asmo
what lucifer is to azula, asmo is to ty lee. like do i even have to say anything else. but for what it’s worth, he also love, love, loves azula because she reminds him of lucifer, from her strength and class, all the way down to her descent into madness. and even though she breaks his heart just as much as she does satan’s. he may or may not have cried over azula in satan’s room while they were talking about her. unlike lucifer and satan, he can respect it if you don’t like her, but it’ll make him so sad.
but enough about azula. ty lee is where it’s at for him. her subtle strength and unwavering love is something to die for, and he will defend it against anyone, up to and including lucifer, and he’ll win too. asmo is not to be trifled with and neither is ty lee; he can make a strong argument as to why ty lee is the strongest character in the show, and you will have a very hard time trying to refute his points. (the main point being: it’ll be really hard to win a fight against someone who can paralyze you in a few seconds, bender or not.)
the fact that ty lee ran away from home because she was tired of the fact that nobody ever saw her as her own person is just something that tugs at asmo’s heartstrings. he thinks ty lee’s bravery is just something that can be so personal.
also—he has a massive appreciation for the fact that, even though there’s a war going on and ty lee is in near-constant danger, she still has the sense to maintain her appearance and worry about the skincare of not just herself, but also people she’s close to. that is a detail he will never let anyone forget.
never mentions it in front of lucifer but one of his favorite scenes is when she paralyzes azula to save mai. once again: ty lee’s bravery is just something that can be so personal.
he doesn’t have a favorite line in the series, but his favorite exchange of dialogue is between ty lee and azula, wherein ty lee is trying to teach azula how to flirt. he thinks it’s the cutest thing in the world.
does he like any other characters? of course! he likes everyone ^_^ . you’d actually be hard pressed to find someone he hates. ozai. it’s ozai. he has a real soft spot for mai because she reminds him of belphie. something about their shared aversion to affection is just so cute to him!
beel
aang supremacist, will hold steadfast to the fact that aang is the best character in the show and you will struggle to figure out how to convince him otherwise.
if you ask him why aang is his favorite, the first thing he will do is gesture to a picture of him and say, “look at the material,” like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, before diving into a ten minute in depth character analysis for this boy.
come on. he shouldn’t even have to explain himself. not only is aang one of the strongest, most competent avatars to exist, ever, he also mastered all four elements in a year, when he was twelve—he’s literally a different breed. and he managed to beat ozai in his own way, without killing him, as a means of staying true to a culture that could have literally died with him at any point in the show. aang is just fucking class.
he also admires aang for his near unwavering kindness and lighthearted nature. and for never going berserk and killing everyone he sees, especially after finding out his people were killed while he was in ice.
you have no idea how much pain beel was in when he found out that the air nomads were just gone. seeing a child find out that not only their family is gone, but also the entirety of their people and culture, just absolutely broke his heart. and that guilt aang was feeling? hit way too close to home for him.
he also thinks it’s really nice that aang was so quick to forgive zuko after everything, and the two of them ended up being really good friends. it just puts a smile on his face.
after some reflection with levi, he would’ve liked to see the full scope of an airbender’s power in the series; as in, he would’ve liked to see someone suffocated, but it’s okay, because aang wasn’t like that.  and he heard it happens in the next series over.
anyway, beel’s favorite quote in the show...well, it isn’t really a quote, as much as it’s a dialogue between two characters. it’s the scene where toph asks, “do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?” and aang says, “i don’t see why not.” it could bring a tears to his eyes just thinking about it; and in the next series over when it’s proven to be true, he absolutely cried.
does he like any other characters? he’s actually really fond of zuko and mai because they both remind him of belphie. he also likes sokka for the same reason lucifer and satan like sokka. he has a deep appreciation for katara because aang would literally be dead without if it weren’t for her.
does he hate any characters? well, he doesn’t really like azula. he feels bad for her, but he doesn’t like her. but as for who he hates? take a wild guess.
belphie
zuko makes him sob is his number one. yes zuko is his favorite because of his redemption arc, yes he sees himself in zuko, no he will not explain any further than that, what’s your point🤨
in actuality, he will never be able to properly articulate how important it is for him to see that redemption is, indeed, attainable, if you put the work in. in a similar vein, he will also never be able to give words to how important it is for him to see that forgiveness is also attainable.  it means the world to him. that is why it makes him cry. the feeling is overwhelming. i’m gonna cry if i think about it for too long.
he will cling to the fact that zuko is the best character in the show, and he will cling to it even when zuko embarrasses him by saying stupid shit like, “no lightning today?” and even when zuko is so awkward it causes him physical pain. that’s his number one and he’s not changing on it!
firm zukka supporter. will not argue. that’s all.
what’s his favorite line in the entire series? it’s one of the two you’re thinking of. make that decision for yourself.
does he like any other characters? he positively adores aang and will readily admit that it’s because he reminds him of beel. bonus points for aang because he also loves the dynamic between him and zuko. toph is a distant third, mainly because he just really likes her attitude. he looks at her and thinks, now this is someone who would not hesitate to kick lucifer’s ass.
does he hate any characters? you better believe it. he hates iroh because he reminds him of dia. he can’t really bring himself to like azula because she makes him a different kind of sad. and if you know what’s good for you, you will never mention ozai.

From White to Grey to Black (Luke’s Conflict)
This is part of a series that will be about three chapters long. I realized that there isn't nearly enough content in the Demon Simeon AU, and wanted to add to that. Warning: This series will contain both slight and heavy spoilers for lessons 51, 52, 53 and 55. If you don't want any spoilers, I highly suggest that you don't read any further. Thank you.
TW: Religious Trauma
The relationship with Simeon will mostly be in part 3, and the reader is gender neutral. Luke has a parental/sibling relationship with the reader.
Work Text:
For as long as Luke could remember, he had always hated demons, and just couldn’t understand them. Demons were the complete opposite of angels, in every way he could possibly think of. The young angel had a very… traditional mindset, and he never thought it would change. That is, until he met Y/N, the second human exchange student. Despite having special powers of their own, their charm somehow managed to attract demons, angels and humans alike. Even he was drawn to them. Y/N was like the parental figure he had never had, who taught him to slowly accept that things weren’t exactly like Michael had taught him. Along with their guidance and Simeon’s encouragement, he finally decided to give the demon brothers a fairer chance, despite being raised to hate them. Yet at the same time, he was conflicted. Since the war, things were much stricter in the Celestial Realm now. Younger angels like him were encouraged to train to guard and protect the Celestial Realm, despite it being peaceful up there. Visits to the human world now required direct permission from Raphael, who wasn’t exactly known for his gentleness. Michael seemed unhappy, despite the warm smiles he gave Luke whenever the small angel offered a new pastry of some kind. Even Simeon had been demoted, from a high ranking Seraph to a low ranking Archangel.
Micheal never told him why, but Luke guessed it was because of Simeon’s fondness for demons. Knowing the older angel well, Luke could easily get an idea of why. Michael himself still had a soft spot for those demon brothers, each and every one… Though he really tried not to, Luke was questioning his mentor. What was the point in caring for them, even now? Their days of being angels were long gone, and they never seemed to give Michael a second thought. Casting them out didn’t sound like the kind and forgiving Michael that he knew… “No… I shouldn’t be thinking like this. Michael is never wrong! I shouldn’t doubt him.” Luke whispered to himself, hugging his knees. For his ten thousand years of life, Luke had been taught to praise and honor Michael, and devote himself to serving the Celestial Realm. He had been taught how evil demons were, how destructive they were, and the consequences that had occurred when an angel and a human fell in love. The Celestial War was the fault of angels who had turned their back on their heavenly father. Their blatant disregard for the rules got them cast out, and they were to blame.
Stories of demons eating innocent angels and hunting down their father’s precious creations were told to him each day. With such things being taught to him, it was inevitable that he would hate demons. The only angel who had ever taught him differently was Simeon. Unlike most angels, Simeon wasn’t traditional. When it came to demons, he was so sugar sweet that it made Luke want to gag. Simeon told him happy stories of his time together with those seven demons, when they were angels. The warmth in his eyes and soft smile on his face made Luke secretly curious about them, but he would never admit to that. “What if they tempt me into sin and try to eat me?!” Luke had fussed one day as Simeon sat next to him. The two were leaning against Simeon’s favourite tree, where he and Lucifer used to nap together. Simeon had only chuckled with a calm smile. “Don’t worry, Luke. Such a small angel like you wouldn’t satisfy their appetite. “Hey!” Luke snapped, a blush on his cheeks. “Don’t say that, Simeon!” Sweet laughter echoed in Luke’s ears. “I’m just joking, Luke. I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.”
“You shouldn’t be so sweet towards demons, Simeon, or you’ll become one of them! I don’t want you to get corrupted!” Luke’s protests seemed to be ignored as Simeon smiled again, though it was much smaller. “Don’t worry about such things. I’m happy to be an angel.” It almost sounded like Simeon was trying to convince himself, but Luke knew better than to protest any further. Now, Luke was starting to regret that. Lately, Simeon wasn’t acting like himself. The small angel’s concern didn’t go unnoticed. “Luke, is everything alright?” A calm voice snapped Luke back to reality. “I’m worried about Simeon,” Luke confessed as he looked up at Barbatos. “He’s been spending a lot of time in his room, just staring off into space. Since we went to look for that fairy ring, he hasn’t been smiling anymore. Even Y/N can’t figure out what’s wrong with him…” Barbatos placed a gentle hand on Luke’s shoulder as he continued to rant. “He doesn’t even want to see Michael! I’m worried that he’s gotten corrupted! What will I do if he becomes a… a demon?” Luke shivered at the thought, not meeting Barbatos’ eyes. “It’s very sweet that you’re worried about him, Luke. Why don’t you bake something to cheer him up?” It was just the two of them in the Angel’s Halo today; without Simeon or any of their regular customers around, it was much quieter. “Okay!” Luke chirped excitedly, too distracted to notice that Barbatos had said nothing to ease his worries.

(tbh I think one thing that frustrates me about season 3 of Lucifer is...how easily it would have been to get Cain right? He already brings everything to the table myth-wise?)
All the antagonists we had thus far were a) pretty nuanced and b) integrated into the story.
Sure, Malcolm was the most obviously "evil" of the bunch, but season 1 shows us again and again how much his experiences in hell shaped him into the person we meet. We know he was a dirt bag before, but after he is brought back, he's willing to do anything to avoid going back and he completely lost all connection to humanity because of that terror. We learn what hell does to a person - which is something that is relevant to understanding our main-character - and we learn something about the world we're in.
Then we have Amenadiel. Him bringing Malcolm back and doing all that stuff in season 1 like pretending to be a therapist, using Linda, orchestrating the theft of Lucifer's wings - tells us more about his major flaw: That he thinks doing his father's work justifies everything. And thinking that his father is always right, even if he doesn't understand his (supposed) orders. And that's the exactly the thing he's unlearning over the next seasons, the basis for his growth and development. We realise he's not a badTM person and he even ends up siding with Lucifer.
For the Goddess, they built up this expectation of some evil monstrous being - but then she's a mother who loves her children except she has too few moral boundaries and doesn't care about humans because - yes, compared to her they're pretty much insects and she was in hell for most of their history. We get her. We understand her motivations and even when she does horrible things like torturing Linda or freeing Perry Smith or stealing Azrael's blade, she never does them because she's a cackling evil villain - but for reasons that make sense in the terms of her character.
Then you have Cain.
Cain could have very easily fit into that pattern: He's in the bible. Even before the Eve-arc of season 4 (which casually drops Cain like a hot potato with even his own Mum saying that 'yeah, that guy sucked, can't blame you for killing him, Luce') he has every good reason to hate Lucifer:
His parents were created in Eden. Fucking paradise. Living the best life, fruit in their mouth, no pain, no age, no injury. Except Lucifer had a teenage temper tantrum and wanted to mess with his Dad and because of that, Cain's parents lost all that, got kicked out into a life of stone age harshness without any necessary survival skills and Cain grew up suffering pain and disease and hard work to survive, being attacked by predators and finally, killing his brother and being cursed to live that life for all eternity. (Another interesting aspect: This guy couldn't just drop in and out of the mortal realm like Lucifer. This is a guy who probably spent thousands of years working in the fields or doing some really menial labour, so he would be an interesting juxtaposition to Lucifer, who experienced the pleasures of Earth as a relief, a vacation from fucking hell. Then you have Cain who wants to die because - he thinks Earth is hell, but oh, boy, you have a big one coming down there).
He had every sensible motive to hate Lucifer. This would have made perfect sense, there was no reason to make him a police cop man with a secret crime syndicate under his thumb.
Plus, the entire show is about how first impressions aren't everything.
The main-character is the literal devil and the show is about how he's not evil incarnate. And as I said, all our main-antagonists follow that trend: Amenadiel is first introduced as this scary foe to Lucifer, but actually they are squabbling siblings from a dysfunctional family trying to make things work. Malcolm was a corrupt cop but it was the fall-out of the celestial family drama that brought out the worst in him. The Goddess is introduced as this scary being that brought plagues and pests to Earth - but hey, she's actually pretty complex and vulnerable at times.
All this harping on Cain being "the first murderer!!" is...actually pretty pointless, because most of our main-characters are to some degree down with murder, with the exception of maybe Chloe but even she isn't exactly a pacifist. It really goes against the grain of the show that Cain killing Abel thousands of years ago means he has to be bad and unjustified now.
Him committing a horrible act in the fucking stone age shouldn't be the defining characteristic that makes him good or bad- And the writers knew that. Hence, they came up with all this "sinnerman" stuff. But...hear me out: Why not let Cain be right? Why not give him the motive of actually wanting revenge on Lucifer for the fall-out his dumb apple-stunt had for his family, for himself? For all of fucking humanity, actually? - bc this is something that is very rarely addressed in the show, compared to the whole rebellion thing and it would be interesting to see them settle that:
Is it Lucifer's fault for messing with Adam and Eve? Or is it God's fault because he once again decided to punish and condemn with giant consequences and without explaining his "mysterious ways"?
Like, this discussion would be right up the alley of the shows major themes but instead we get this whole "yeah actually this immortal mortal guy who has hundreds of thousands of years of very vague backstory is in a love triangle with our main characters now but actually it will never work out because he's a fucking mob boss. Also he's Cain and collects rock." WHAT WAS THAT?

Okay, let’s get into this, because I have put off talking about Crowley’s cut monologue from 12x23 for long enough. If you haven’t already, you can read it here, or in this great gifset.
I absolutely see why this was cut. And I’m only acknowledging it here to talk about why I not only think it doesn’t add anything to Crowley’s story or our understanding of him, but how it actually detracts from it. After that, I intend to ignore it and let it fade away into the ether of the spn fandom. That being said, deleted scenes and cut scripts live in a sort of canonical limbo – you can choose for yourself whether to accept them as canon, consider them glimpses from some alternative universe, or do away with them entirely. I’m choosing the latter in this instance.
(This was meant to be a post, but it turned into an essay.)
Whomever wrote this was either unfamiliar with Crowley as a character, or was intentionally twisting the character in such a way as to fit into the convenient narrative that removed him from the show. Blame it on Chuck in text, blame it on the showrunners outside of text, whatever your preference – this doesn’t read like Crowley.
There are very few parts of this monologue that felt in character, that read like something Crowley would say. Not just in the tone or the choice of words, but the openness of it. And that’s coming from someone who writes reformed and/or human Crowley, with his admittance to remorse and shame and love. In this cut script, he is uncharacteristically vulnerable, sharing self-reflections he would never have shared aloud at this point in his character development. His dialogue lacks the layers of meaning or deflection that Crowley would normally employ, that he employed everywhere else in the show, even when being emotionally vulnerable.
That’s not to say that Crowley didn’t think or feel these things – I will argue to the end of my days (in spn fandom) that after the cure, Crowley hated himself. He hated that he was alone and unloved. Some part of that was due to being a demon and the horrible, evil, messy things he’d done, and some of it he believed was due to his inherent lack of worth. And I think this monologue was written in part to have Crowley make that final confession out loud. Final because, if that’s the case and he’s willing to admit it – to his former enemies and now the only people he really has in his life – his story can only take one of two directions: redemption or death. Embrace the desire for change and move forward as a reformed demon and full Winchester ally, or dramatically (and unnecessarily) sacrifice himself.
And there is a way to write that, but with Crowley properly in character and with the emotional complexity we know him to possess, not this blatant declaration. Maybe the line would have worked depending on how Mark Sheppard played it, and it only falls so flat because it’s just a script – I’m willing to allow for that. But this moment, facing down the boys after letting Lucifer loose, in front of an audience of Mary Winchester that he doesn’t know well and isn’t comfortable with, it doesn’t feel like a moment for Crowley to be this open, this vulnerable, about something so personal and so monumental.
I’ve no doubt that Crowley expected the Winchesters would one day kill him, “for good this time.” He was a demon working alongside a pair of hunters; there was always going to be that risk. Crowley was intelligent, one of the smartest characters on the show. He had to know that was how things would play out – either that, or he would die on their behalf, or because of their actions, even if he had ended up leaving Hell and joining Team Free Will. That was what happened to people around the Winchesters. Crowley warned Kevin of that himself. “They use people up, and leave them to die bloody.” Crowley knew. And as he internalized more and more of his blood-born conscience, Crowley had to believe on some level that he deserved it, especially if he hated himself and what he’d done.
But once again, if Crowley was going to say something like that, that’s not how he’d say it. It would be as a dismissive aside, or a knife in Dean’s gut in a moment of intense emotion between the two of them, or as a rebuke that the Winchesters badly deserved. Or better yet, as something remarked between himself and Cas, who Crowley likely suspected would outlast him but also ultimately die in service of the Winchester cause. Words like those have power. And it’s unlike Crowley to lay them down in supplication like this. It doesn’t even feel like a heart-felt confession, like his monologue in 8x23. It reads like someone wrote what was meant to be under Crowley’s words, the intention behind his dialogue, the much-exalted subtext, but failed to add all the layers on top of it, to put it in actual character.
I’m just going to bundle the whole beginning of the monologue together and toss it out entirely. Firstly because I’ve argued more than once that Crowley is an unreliable narrator when it comes to his human life. What we know of it from Rowena comes with an agenda, and what we know of it from Gavin comes from a man who had a difficult relationship with his father. It’s about as reliable as young Dean telling stories to Sammy about their parents’ time together. And there’s canonical errors in this monologue to back that up – we know Crowley wasn’t buried in a pauper’s grave, because we saw it 6x04. The “dying in a puddle of his own sick” is a great detail in terms of storytelling, but it’s almost directly repeated from Rowena, who said it as a belittling comment to a young Fergus. It’s too forced. And we know at least Gavin came to the funeral, because he tells us so in a deleted scene in 12x13 (remember what I said about getting to pick and choose when it comes to cut scripts and deleted scenes?).
But more importantly – and this is the part that really grates – Crowley’s iteration of his human life reinforces the narrative of absolute morality in the spn universe. It supports the argument that if a character becomes a demon, it must be because they were a terrible person. There is no room for human flaws, for characters to have made mistakes – and that doesn’t just hinder characters in terms of backstory, but in character development and emotional growth moving forward. It’s a stance spn takes more than once, and especially with non-human characters, though never in regards to the Winchesters. The Winchesters can become soulless or demons, but they were “always good” before that, so they are deserving of redemption. If Crowley or other non-humans were “always bad,” that absolves the Winchesters from seeing them as people deserving of help, or of their ability to change, or even to be seen as beings deserving of any level of respect or agency. And it absolves the showrunners from writing a character capable of development, of being able to grow beyond their previous flaws.
That’s not to say that Fergus MacLeod wasn’t some or all of those things. But if he was a complex character – if he was a person, as all stories should aim to present their characters – then he was all of that and more, just as the Winchesters are their virtues and their faults all wrapped up in an individual person. And if Crowley had brought this up some other time, in reference to his human life, none of this discussion would be necessary. It would be easy to say: he’s an unreliable narrator, and this provides us with insight into how Crowley feels about himself, and it would be interesting and valuable. But here, it’s used in justification for Crowley’s status as irredeemable – which is not true – and as part of justification for what happens next.
Crowley’s death was written by the showrunners as an excuse to remove him from the show – attribute that to budget costs for the show, or running out of story ideas for Crowley, or creative laziness, whatever you want. And within spn, it can be attributed to Chuck not wanting another character like Cas muddling up his Winchester Brothersᵀᴹ grand narrative. I’ve written before both in posts and in fic about how Crowley’s character-central instinct for self-preservation crumbles into depression after losing Hell and the seemingly-irreversible depletion of his and Dean’s friendship in 12x23. And that this ushers in a desire to End in such a way that achieves revenge against Lucifer (not a significant motivation, in my opinion, you’ve got to outlive your enemies to win against them), earns him the appreciation of the Winchesters, saves the world (proving his capacity for good), and brings about an end to his waiting. Glory through death, redemption in death – tropes that are hard to associate with Crowley unless you buy into his character’s devolvement in the latter half of season 12, but which the writers do their best to smooth into place and the fandom was forced to choke down.
And I won’t argue that Crowley didn’t wanted an end to his waiting – I’d argue the opposite in fact. This blatant preference for suicide, however, is antithesis to everything Crowley. What Crowley wanted in that End wasn’t an end of himself, but an end to existing in a state of perpetual limbo. Be accepted by the good guys, embrace his more human aspects, or return to the full dark depravity of demonkind. An end to the emotional rollercoaster, to continuous and destructive self-doubt, to striving to be both the king Hell needed and the ally the Winchesters refused to admit they benefited from having. That’s entirely different than wanting to end himself. As much as Crowley hated himself, he would never have considered death to be a preferable option – not unless some outside force, be it Chuck or the spn showrunners, decided otherwise for him.
Even if that had been the case, and I am wrong about Crowley’s characterization and his motivations, I still do not think he would have been as open about that motivation as is written in this cut script. It is just not like him. It is too vulnerable, too self-pitying. Crowley was always concerned about the others around him, and especially the Winchesters, thinking less of him. He never would have said something like this to them, not as this is written. Nor would Crowley have gone to the Winchesters with the intention of them killing him. He might have known it was a possibility, once he confessed his actions, (and from his perspective, there was the chance the Winchesters didn’t know of his involvement in Lucifer’s escape anyway), but it would never have been his intention. It’s not unknown for Crowley to encourage abuse from those he’s wronged, and to revel in the attention and emotions of it (here I’m thinking specifically of Kevin beating him in 9x02), maybe considering the punishment just and due. And Crowley at this point likely suspected he would eventually meet his end in some way involving the Winchesters. But death by their hands in this moment would have involved none of the justifying benefits of death by his own hand only a few scenes later – glory, revenge, redemption, a sense of closure.
Compare this cut monologue and its potential death – at the hands of the Winchesters after confessing his role in Lucifer’s escape – to this cut line of dialogue from later in 12x23. “Tell Dean he was right – you bloody fools have rubbed off on me.” This is Crowley. This is emotional complexity, admittance to a change of heart, self-awareness, and a brave act of equal defiance and sacrifice, with his usual smug, snarky dismissal. This isn’t suicide brought on by depression, by an uncharacteristic vulnerability. It is resolved, determined, if reluctant. This is Crowley choosing the greater good and the boys, even if it means sacrificing himself.
For me, this small addition smooths over much of the unevenness in the showrunner’s attempts to justify Crowley’s death. He has lost Hell, he believes he’s had an irreversible falling out with Dean – all of which could be overcome, grown beyond. But then a rift opens, and Lucifer is an immediate danger, and it requires a life to save the day. Crowley knows it can’t be either of the boys – that tends to have world-ending effects – and it can’t be Mary Winchesters or Castiel, because of “Winchester man-pain.” So that leaves Crowley. And having exhausted all immediate alternatives, Crowley does what internalized Winchester logic and conscience tells him is right. It would still require a moment of hesitation, a moment we see him combatting his deeply imbedded trait of self-preservation. But at least that would have been in character and show definitive character growth on Crowley’s part.
So yes, I completely agree with the decision to cut this monologue in 12x23. It doesn’t tell us anything about Crowley that we don’t already know, and is uncharacteristic of him, and provides out-of-character justification for his actions that wasn’t needed. You don’t have to agree with me, obviously. And I’ll end this rather long rant of an essay by saying what I always say: that Crowley deserved better. He deserved better than the mangling of his character’s motivations in the latter half of season 12, and he deserved better than this monologue. I’m glad it was cut from the final script.

Pandæmonium Character Profiles (very slightly nsfw)
Lucifer/Satan: Prince of Hell and embodiment of the sin of Pride. A spoiled, bratty man child who thinks he can get away with anything just because he’s conventionally attractive. Constantly tries out various plans for world domination, all of which fail due to his own ego getting the best of him. Goes by the pseudonym Angelo Lightborn in the human world.
Lilith: Lucifer’s twin sister. She claims to be the voice of reason in Hell and talks a lot about having the moral high ground over her brother, but aside from a modicum of self awareness, she’s really no better than he is. The two of them fight constantly. Many demons have compared the pettiness of their squabbles to high school girls competing to be more popular than the other.
Mephistopheles: Lucifer’s secretary. It’s also an open secret that the two of them are in a rather…kinky relationship. Although he’s incredibly put-upon with managing all the soul transactions, Mephistopheles often cracks sardonic jokes and somehow manages to keep his spirits somewhat high. He’s more of an amoral prankster than outright evil, but will literally kiss his master’s ass if he has to.
Beelzebub: A huge fluffy demon resembling a mammalian fly, Beelzebub is the embodiment of the sin of Gluttony. He has an average of ten square meals a day and is never seen without a snack in his claw. Despite how much his fellow demons despise him, he’s pretty much Lucifer’s right hand man. The only food he will never eat is vegetable stew, but he’ll gladly devour French fries by the bucketload. He hates sharing.
Mammon: The embodiment of the sin of Greed, Mammon resembles a huge white dragon. He constantly flaunts his wealth and expensive possessions, but is incredibly stingy and won’t part with so much as a penny. He also has kleptomaniac tendencies and will gladly partake in all manner of money laundering schemes, no matter how many times he clashes with the law.
Amon: Mammon’s brother, a red dragon and the embodiment of the sin of Wrath. Amon is hotheaded, tempestuous and all around pissed off 24/7. He also happens to be in charge of Hell’s military forces, making him quite the trigger-happy drill sergeant figure on top of that. Is often picking fights with the other Seven Princes. He cannot stand Lucifer and frequently gets annoyed at him. Makes Gordon Ramsey look like Lao Tzu.
Leviathan: The third brother of Mammon and Amon, the embodiment of the sin of Envy. Leviathan is a big blue sea dragon who is always gloomy and incredibly jealous of everyone and everything. Frequently tries to usurp Lucifer and take over Hell. Like the Devil, he often throws tantrums when he can’t get his way.
Asmodeus: The embodiment of the sin of Lust, this excessively charming incubus is always on the lookout for someone to hook up with. Can and will flirt with absolutely every adult he meets. His signature sin is rather contagious and anyone who spends five minutes in his presence will inevitably fall hopelessly in love with him. Lilith considers him even more insidious than Lucifer.
Belphegor: The embodiment of the sin of Sloth. Belphegor is procrastination incarnate. He has a lot of genius ideas for inventions and plans, but can’t seem to do any of them himself. He has a robot army to do everything for him. He’s often lethargic and sleepy, showing up late to meetings and falling asleep halfway through them. Like Asmodeus, his sin is also contagious and seems to have an almost hypnotic effect on other demons, who all doze off ten minutes after interacting with him.
Azazel: A demon who is, unfortunately, Hell’s go-to scapegoat. When something goes wrong, Lucifer will inevitably blame Azazel and nobody else. This often results in Azazel being “fired”, quite literally. Lucifer sets him on fire and he has to jump into a frozen lake to put himself out again. Despite this, Azazel is the closest thing you can get to being innocent in Hell. He loves cosplaying as fairytale princesses and gets his supernatural powers from peach tea.
Behemoth: The demon in charge of Hell’s kitchen (quite literally). Resembles an anthropomorphic elephant. Is often in a foul mood, especially when Beelzebub makes a particularly gross food request. Punishes the Gluttons by feeding them healthy portions of vegetable stew, but will gladly satisfy the culinary cravings of every other demon, no matter how absurd.
Other minor characters (some of which I probably won’t include in the main story) include Rosier and Callum, Lucifer’s son and son-in-law respectively, Saphira and Lilim, Lilith’s daughters, Samael, the Grim Reaper and Lilith’s husband, and Lucifer’s wicked advisor, Astaroth.

I don't have much to say about the rest of the S3 lessons, but I do have things to say about S4 of Obey Me.
Personally, I think that S4 should focus primarily on the angels (Simeon, Luke, Michael, Raphael, etc.), feature the side characters (Solomon, Barbatos, Diavolo), possibly introduce Solomon's first apprentice and maybe in Hard Mode you can check up on the brothers (you should know who the HOL brothers are).
I have a few reasons for this (in no real order :):
Reading the lesson summaries that you (and others) have provided, it seems like Mike and Raph- along with the Celestial Realm- will be important this season. So, wouldn't be a waste not to show them off?
The side characters need development. This is a perfect opportunity for some.
Simeon and Luke were standing for a longer period than the brothers, so it would make sense for them to show up again.
Simeon was talking to some angel (probably Raphael) at the end of S3. The game should obviously expand on that.
*Diavolo runs a hotel chain in the Human World, so it would make sense to see him again. And because Barbatos follows right behind him...
Solomon's first apprentice needs to be explored. What happened between them?
*The brothers should take a back seat in this season, since they're always there. No offense to them, but I need a break.
New character interactions is would be fun. To me, the best character interaction would be between Dia & Mike. Would they hate each other because of Lucifer? Would they get along? These are the questions that keep me up at night.
It could show off/expand upon the Celestial Realm, a chance for more lore and theories.
It could finally give insight into Simeon's past- which is always a good thing. (Same for everyone else.)
Now that the list is out of the way, here are some miscellaneous things that I couldn't fit on the list (also an clarification for 5 & 7. They explanations will also have an asterix at the beginning of them:):
*I don't expect Diavolo and Barbatos to show up that often, but I think that they should appear in at least 1-2 chapters.
*I also don't mind the brothers showing up, but I am worried that if they appear prominently, they might over take the season.
I kinda want the Lillith plotline/point to come back. I definitely wish it was executed better, but I do want to see the reaction from the angels (Mike and Raph basically).
I hope Solomon's apprentice was a girl. There's just too many guys here, we need a little diversity.
I would hate it if they didn't give us character designs for Michael and Raphael, though I would find it funny.
Well, I think I'm done for now. Do you agree, disagree? Do you like the color coding, should I keep doing it? Basically, I just want your thoughts on this.
Goodbye for now,
Lesson 42 Anon
Hii!!! I basically agree with everything you just said but I'll go into more detail on it with your points:
- I do 100% believe S4 should be a new character/angel focused season. I think I said so in the lesson 60 summary too that it'd make sense and be interesting to meet the angels and get their side of the story without the brothers' interference (the angels give me HEAVY morally grey characters who think they're wholly in the right vibes and I love it) + there's still a lot of Simeon and Solomon backstory to explore!
- The way S3 ended and how much of it was anyway about the angels I definitely think S4 will expand on it and introduce them
- And I think it'll possibly start right after S3 ends? I mean Raphael's here now and Solomon wants to start properly training MC so why not. And there's no other reason to leave Simeon and Luke behind than to start it up with them in the centre
- ALSO!!! ANDISJSHSKS "RAPH" given what they've showed of him he seems like the type of person to take HEAVY offense to that
- S3 did end with Raphael. Simeon called him by name.
- As much as I do want to see more Diavolo and find out more about his and more importantly Barbatos' backstories I don't think they'll turn up much? Or at least not until the last few lessons cause he left saying he had important personal issues to take care of back in the devildom
- I genuinely thought they would be shown in S3 after Solomon mentioned them and yeah damn I wanna know more about them. Also I just saw the Solomon UR+ animation card from months ago today - I definitely want to know whose grave he was leaving flowers at
- As much as I want an angel focused season the amount of withdrawal I'd go through without the brothers is insane. I'm heavily invested in them but at least for now their arcs are at a place that can be paused - they all got together to help Beel, a lot of Satan & Lucifer's + Belphie & Diavolo's issues have been resolved. I do want to know more about Lucifer's fear though and how he met the rest of the brothers (since they already told us Beel's story)
- With what they've said I kinda see Michael & Raphael being parallels to Diavolo & Lucifer, respectively. The somewhat childish boss and the long suffering right hand. I can see Diavolo wanting to like Michael purely because he wants to make proper peace with the Celestial Realm but also being somewhat internally pissed with him given how protective Diavolo is of the brothers and I can see Michael being sweet and friendly in return despite the fact that given everything Michael has said about demons, even in current times, he would probably be looking down on Diavolo for being 'wicked' and 'evil'. Basically I imagine them having the same kinda passive-aggressively polite relationship that Diavolo and Simeon had in S2 but somehow even less friendly
- Yes!!! Like I said the Celestial Realm gives heavy morally grey vibes and I want that to be explored more. I also need Luke's realisation that the Celestial Realm isn't always right to continue
- I have SO many Lilith HCs and I desperately need them to talk about her more. Like I understand why she's a sore topic and that Lucifer never even told them about her room in the HoL depite the fact that they've probably lived there for thousands of years and she does get brought up a bit in Belphie's fear but I need more. I also want them to explore why Belphie was so insistent with blaming the humans for Lilith's death when it was the angels that killed her, I gave my theories behind it in one of the summaries but I really need more solid answers
- I've always wanted more girls (or any girls really) and the way I was disappointed that we never got to see Lilith (I mean I understand that some players would HC her to look like their MC even though she died thousands of years before MC and they probably wouldn't share a resemblance but still) but I never considered Solomon's apprentice was a girl and I dunno why.. OKAY BUT CONSIDER GIRLS AS NEW LIS!!!!!
- I definitely think they would, it would make no sense if they didn't after how much they were hyped up and I might actually scream if they don't get designs. That being said I have very clear ideas of them in my head and I'm gonna hate having to part with them
DO NOT GET RID OF THE COLOUR CODING! IT'S PART OF YOUR IDENTITY NOW! OWN IT!

04 - Branded
(LUCIFER’S POV)
My sin was to be myself and to love my father. Can you believe it? I am the second creation. I am the light bringer. And yet, I am now representing the dark side. Even if Amara is literally the Darkness, I am still unfairly related to it. Me. Lucifer, the morning star, the shining one and who now is the Dark Prince, Satan, the Devil…
I loved my father. I loved how powerful he could be and every little thing he created. Well… Except humans. The Earth… The planets… That was beautiful. I still remember this little blue planet, full of water, forests, animals… But no. Papa had to create more and more. Every time, he wanted more. So he created those… abominations. I didn’t understand why he created such creatures. But I didn’t say anything, I let Mister Big Boss do what he wants because I’m a good son and I wanted to remain his favorite son. What people are forgetting about me is that I helped him lock Amara away. I helped him by carrying this Mark of Cain. I did everything he wanted me to do because I love him and because I’m a good son. I’m the light bringer, the best archangel… no, the best creation he ever did. I obeyed without protesting because I wanted him to be proud of me somehow.
Everyone says either I was born bad or the Mark of Cain corrupted me. They aren’t wrong or right. The Mark maybe corrupted me but I didn’t corrupt humans. The Mark only helped my already existent hate towards humanity, it increased it. The truth is, humans were already corrupted because God offered them the precious Free Will. This is the truth that EVERYONE is denying. Are humans born with qualities? Maybe, I don’t care. The most important is that they are born with flaws. And I hated that. I still do. Dad created perfect things, and at the moment he gave humans free will and all these bullshits, this ‘perfection’ became an abomination. And guess who became the one to blame? Me. Because I’m sure that deep down, Dad didn’t want to admit it was a mistake.
He wanted my brothers and sisters to bow in front of humans as his ultimate creation. I was so offended by this. I’m an Archangel, a celestial being, and I had to bow in front of these… naked peasants? No thank you, I’ll pass. Because I said ‘no’, I was cast out of Heaven by my own brother, Michael the ‘Almighty’ Archangel, first creation of God. Dad was so ashamed that he sent his first son to cast me out. Number one’s greatest dad in the world, yay.
I’m not really mad at Michael though. He did what I always did: obey. But I’m mad at my father, who didn’t want a ‘failure’ like me. I always did everything for him, I said ‘no’ once, just once, and I’m now a fallen Angel. He made his human fanatics blame me for all the evil things in the world. Every action I made was branded as Evil. Humans corrupted themselves but they had to find someone to blame. Not God, the O Great Creator. Or Michael. How about Lucifer? Yup, that one is Evil. He let Adam and Eve become corrupted and because of him they ate the forbidden fruit, bla bla bla. Yes, I created Demons. Yes, I am the ruler of Hell. Yes, I sent my demons to wars against angels. But all of these happened because I was unfairly abandoned by my own family just because I didn’t want to worship humans.
I tried to talk with Him. I tried to understand what happened between us. I wanted to fix things, you know. But how should I do this, huh? Even if I fix things between God and I… Nothing will ever be the same. In the eyes of almost every Angel, Demon and Christian human, I will always be Satan, the Devil who corrupted humans, and so on. I am branded as the personification of Evil since centuries and centuries so good luck changing that. Good luck changing one of the aspects of a religion, one of the basics of Christianity history. I admit I tried when I had the opportunity, but this fake reality about me is so strong that it can’t be changed with a snap of my fingers.
So, I’m playing my part. If they want me Evil, I will give this to them. I will show them that I’m powerful, fearless, angry, upset, disappointed, ruthless, and oh they will cry and beg me. Beware filthy humans, Lucifer is coming…
* * *
Hey, I wasn’t really sure about this one but I wanted to try anyway... Hope you enjoyed it.

    lucifer sentence starters     episode 4 - 6.
you broke into my house?
you were taking forever in the shower.
are you sleeping with this idiot?
never been thrown out of anywhere before in my life.
something very disturbing's just happened. it's horrific, really. for the second time, i've been thrown out of a woman's house.
i mean, i appeal to the virile urge in all wo/men.
you need to go undercover, because you're our best way in.
why is she able to refuse my charms?
people don't have power over us. we give it to them. you have to take your power back.
i need to take back control. i need to behave like i always have.
i mean, it seems obvious now, actually - i need to have sex with her.
are you gonna help me or not?
you're quite adorable when you're flustered.
i'm not flustered, i'm nauseous.
okay, look. let me make myself perfectly clear: i will never, ever, ever sleep with you.
playing hard to get? i like it.
wow. you've never been rejected by a woman, have you?
the odds are definitely in your favour out there - probably not batting for the same team, but you never know. go forth and conquer. i know you want to.
i promise, if anyone here hurt your sibling, i'll find them. and i'll punish them.
if you weren't so pent-up sexually, we'd be firing on all cylinders, i'd say.
i certainly don't need any help getting wo/men into bed.
do you honestly think you can just ask people to have sex with you and they will?
you forget. i love pain.
men - they always want to talk!
we can get him/her back to where s/he belongs, if you could just provide me with a weak spot.
seriously, darling. are you well? the berries are ripe and ready to be harvested - i mean, look at me.
don't. please.
if i get an STD from this thing, i'm gonna kill you.
is there anyone you suspect that might do this to you?
do not shush me.
a deal's a deal - especially one with the devil.
i do believe there's good and evil and right and wrong.
does it scare you?
i mean, how could i be scared of something i don't believe in?
do i scare you?
either way, he's going to get someone killed. probably himself.
this love thing makes you all quite stupid, doesn't it?
just hand over the cash, and no one gets hurt.
i believe that's a fair request, actually, so just pop her around and the money's yours.
greedy little jackal, aren't you?
what is it about you and guns, eh?
what's up, jackass?
hell truly hath no fury like a woman scorned.
i happen to be an expert on punishment, and i'm not sure it fits the crime here.
chlamydia, the clap, a raging case of crabs - that's what you deserve. not death.
why do humans think they can rectify one evil with another?
why does everyone say that before they're punished?
come on, shoot me.
son of a bitch, that really hurts!
i don't bleed!
i don't lie. but i don't always tell the whole truth.
can't sleep when you're not home.
the models don't appear to be wearing any clothes.
you were shot and you bled. no sharp objects until we find out why.
the danger of getting hurt is positively thrilling.
now come on, tell me your most dangerous desire.
we need to get out of here now.
i am dreamy, but try to contain yourself.
i got a taste of danger, and i want more.
that whackjob's gonna totally get me killed.
tomato, tom-ah-to.
see, that's why we make such great partners - the 'he said, she said' of it all.
when do i get my own gun?
i wouldn't trust you with my kid's lightsaber.
if i'm gonna be forced to work with you again, i call the shots.
bloody hell! that hurt! do it again.
you know, i'm quite skilled in restraints.
let me guess, you did him a favour.
i process tragedy through my work.
that favour you owe me... i'm calling in my IOU.
i was trying to prevent more death.
well, aren't we the little saint?
you are the oldest young person i've ever met.
i'm not gonna drink at a bar where everyone hates me.
did you ever consider that they hate you for that very reason?
well, somebody's not being crowned homecoming queen, are they?
surely you've heard the expression 'deal with the devil'...?
people come to me to ask for favours and more often than not, i'm happy to oblige.
i don't need your sympathy, but thank you.
firstly, let me state that i'm in no way standing up for my associate, but on behalf of myself, and only myself, i think you're a complete sack of arse.
sadly, the only thing broken was that incontinent troll's nose.
if i'm not going to look out for you, who will? hm?
maybe next time, i won't be around to save your ass.
you and my backside used to get on well.
is it my thanks you want, or a kiss?
i don't do favours for guys like you.
what is it with the men in my life?
act like a child, get treated like a child.
witnesses said they heard you making threats at the door.
no wonder he can't get it up.
so you're just gonna sit around and wait for revenge? that's rather lazy.
i was promised a gang war, and instead, i get a crybaby. this is boring.
you know, they really don't make bad guys like they used to.
after five years behind bars, a brothel would be my go-to.
i can't be held responsible for what happens after i give someone a favour.
if there's one thing the devil knows, it's that people need to take responsibility for their own bad behaviour.
enough danger for you yet?
you do remember that bullets hurt, right?
you had your hero moment. stay down, or you're gonna get shot.
ass saved. you're welcome.
you're addicted to creating chaos and seeing where the chips fall, to hell with the consequences.
you're having another one of those 'gut feelings', aren't you?
you've already wasted so much of your life.
oh, well the good news is that whilst all dogs go to heaven, you'd be surprised how many pigs are waiting for you in hell.
you were never as good as me.
keep your enemies close, right?
who gave that order?
if you come clean now, i'll go easy on you.
if you really want to do something, you should.
shall we move the party upstairs?
so what unpleasantness felled this heap of unrealised ambition then?
let's pretend for one second that you're someone else - someone nice. someone mature.
i mean, getting murdered is probably the most exciting thing that ever happened to him.
i gave up an epic foursome to be here.
call me when you've got a murder with a pulse - or at least someone good-looking.
i was hoping for a good shag just as a palate cleanser to wipe the foul taste of boredom from my mouth.
i need your help like i need a third boob.
- knew that was a mistake the moment it came out of my mouth.
i'll have two tropic wonders and your face smashed into the ground.
i believe they call this interrogating!
we were like fish and chips - salt and pepper - hipsters and condescension!
if we're gonna work together on this, you're gonna have to trust me.
nobody steals from me and gets away with it.
he's not gonna change.
i thought you said lying was a bad thing.
you're not from around here, are you?
you can't just smash two people together like barbies and think that that's gonna fix things.
pardon the intrusion, you village people rejects, but one of you has stolen something that belongs to me.
please identify yourself, so i can punish you accordingly.
i thought we were past you thinking you're invincible?
a few bad apples shouldn't paint us all in a bad light, now should it?
you like being considered a criminal, don't you?
he's hiding something. we need to force it out of him.
i've sat in a parked car and not had sex.
have i done something to offend you?
ooh, whip out the cuffs then.
why shy away from a little bondage fun?
despite all your weirdness, i actually really like working with you.
i have never lied to you. and i will never lie to you.
been a while since i had a good hunt.
you'd never lie to me, right?
stick within the limits of your intellectual capacity.
why do they blame me for all their little failings?!
don't call me that, please!
