I’m curious after Jason been knighted as a Red Knight and first dealing with the Flash Fam screwing up the flow of time… Again…

A Flash: messes up the timestream

Now, keep in mind Jason had been fucking with the Flash Fam prior to being formally knighted. Being knighted as Fright Knight(or Red Knight in this case) just gives him a bit of a power up and also gives him a good deal of authority in the 'Realms.

Now what was really scary was the first time Jason went after a Flash fucking with the timestream while in his Red Knight armor.

Just. This hulking suit of armor and ghostly flames running at them like the Terminator and. They're the FLASH fam. They're supposed to be the fastest people around. Yet they can't outrun this full on armored tank of a being.

When he catches up to whichever Flash is responsible he just scruffs them like misbehaving kittens and shakes them.

"Stop. Fucking. With. Time. You. Little. Shit." And a few more shakes for good measure. And whichever Flash it is just nods meekly. Because what else are you gonna do when this man who is more built than Superman, faster than you, who is coated in black and red armor literally radiating flames picks you up like you weigh nothing more than a wet paper bag and scolds you like a puppy who piddled on the carpet?

You agree and then offer to buy him chilidogs. (All of the Flash Fams know the big tank dude likes chilidogs, the skinny eldritch nightmare likes burgers)

Danny and Jason are the Flash Fam's version of those scary sea stories sailors tell each other. They're what goes bump in the night.

Ok so we all know the reverse! Robins au right. Now I’ve seen a lot of different versions of these especially concerning who died via the joker and hence gets the “red hood” arc. I’ve seen Jason obviously, Tim and Steph and even Damian. But you know what all of ya are miss?

Now listen here’s what I can imagine

It starts like any rr au.

Dick coming to the manor after his parents die

The batfam all being there but not being a family.

Then this 8 year old kid comes and makes them all get together like a happy family that ya know fights crime.

All of them becoming close. Become a family

Because of Dick

Dick creates robin and helps out his fam at night.

DICK CREATED ROBIN SO HES STILL THE FIRST ROBIN YOU UNEDUCATED NITWITS.

So few years pass by and it’s great. All of them are a happy family. There are family dinners that everyone comes to and game nights and even Damian participates in and Bruce actually laughs and smiles.

Then a mission to space happened. Bruce and most of the meta friends of the bats go on the mission. Like both superboys and the flashes.

Dick is about 15.

At night before petrol something happens like Dick got in a fight with someone probably Damian.

He storms off in anger maybe goes for a walk or something.

In his compromised state he didn’t realise that there was someone like a joker goon or sm who followed him.

He gets kidnapped by joker and ya know the script from there. Joker. Hoping that someone comes for him. Crowbar. Explosion. Death.

Damian was just outside the wear house when it exploded.

He was too late.

Batfam gets all depressed because the person who made them a family the boy who was sunshine personified the kid who was literally the best of them was dead.

And they were to late to save him.

Bruce comes back and is absolutely devastated.

His funeral was small and very few person attended because.. well some reason.

Most of them especially Damian were calling for Jokers blood.

Bruce was the one who convinced them to leave the joker alive by saying that it was what Dick would have wanted.

I’m leaving that there for now. Tell me if you want some more hcs. For this au or anything else I’m not picky.

Also in a perfect world we would've gotten a post-credit scene at the end of S4 where Bart goes home with Jay and Ed as they fill him in on what he's missed/he tells them about the kidnapping as Ed holds his hand and Jay pats him on the shoulder

I also highly HC that if any future time shenenigans ensue, the first thing the Outsiders + Jay will do is keep an eye on Bart at ALL TIMES before our boi deep dives into the past again

in a perfect world we would have gotten a lot of things 😔 apologies for the totally unasked for rambles coming: 1. characters wear different clothes every now and then (lol) 2. we would see his meeting with legion and the ensuing months 3. bart wouldn’t be nerfed like that (my villain origin story reverse flash get out of the way) 4. jay bart scenes specifically more of how flash fam was affected by his disappearance 5. ZETAFLASH MOMENTS 6. more outsiders content (specifically of founding members) in general 7. more outsiders missions

and this is all just to name a few the list is honestly infinite 😭 and in no particular order lol

ur scene is very cute and has my heart in its grips lol personally maybe it’s because i’m more drama prone i just see him heading back home with jay and they don’t say much because jay sees that bart needs like a bath and sleep asap LOL but it’s a very mixed feeling atmosphere of massive relief that bart is OK and BACK HOME WITH HIM but also “what the hell just happened and where the hell has he been”

ALSO i’m undecided of when (if?) bart goes back to the arctic to collect the cosmic treadmill immediately or if he does that later down the line (after a couple of days), personally i’m side eyeing the treadmill as being built to exist in the current E16 timeline as a Chekovs Gun for future seasons (ideally S5 lol)

and 100%% agreed! i HC that too, I feel like Flash fam at the very least would be on high alert with him for a very long time, much to Barts incredible frustration LOL

edit: later on mgann dick who saw bioship spit out the treadmill, clark, jeff who saw Bart using it, one of them (probably dick if we r keeping it real) is like “ what happened to it ?? “ and bart is like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i think LOSH took it back with them meanwhile it’s hidden in the basement of the flash museum or something 😂

reverse batfam is coool , but add a littlr bit of spice and make it nexus!dick too , and somehow someone in the fam or all the fam discover it , and like should they tellvthat 8 years old baby about it ?

whenever i think reverse robins batfam, my mind usually goes to bruce, then damian as the eldest, steph and tim around the same age with steph as a version of red hood and tim as a version of oracle, then cass, then jason, then finally little dickie

i feel like tim would be the first to figure it out, honestly?? he's probably the most connected to the larger jl world, especially since he's super close with the supers, the flashes, and somewhat even the amazons (kon, bart, cassie). bruce, tim, and maybe damian have heard about nexus beings from visitors from another universe or aliens, but tim's probably the first to suspect dick is one bc of either possible experiences with other universes or things he's dug up with his Computer Skillz.

still gotta flesh out some ideas and characterization for everyone here, but i think he'd tell bruce, which is how damian would find out. and they'd elect not to tell baby dick about it because he is a Child and shouldn't have to deal with the potential pressure of being a nexus being. maybe they tell cass and jason down the line, and the two of them elect to treat dick as Normal As Possible, as opposed to the elders' slight overprotectiveness

idkkkk i'll have to think on it but this is such a cool idea omg. i'm always a sucker for reverse aus, so this concept is Particularly Interesting!

now i assume that you’re talking about dick grayson/birdflash fic recs because that was in your ask. if not idk just shoot me another ask with whatever dynamic/pairing/ship you wanted and i guarantee you i’ll have some recs for it. now let’s get to the good stuff because birdflash is one of my top otps of all time and that is saying something considering how many fandoms i’m in. 

now lets start with authors. anything that padfootphrophet has ever written is so so glorious (i tried to find their tumblr and i failed i’m sorry). be sure to check them out! there’s @novaviis, the birdflash deity, we all know them. if you haven’t read watercolour then what are you doing with your life go read it right now. 

time for actual fic recs! i have practically over a hundred bookmarked, so here are some of my favourites, or ones that i think need more love. (be sure to check the tags on all of them, there are some squicks and/or triggering content in them.)

1. Summer Lovin’ by @theo-ography  4,500 words. birdflash set in the comics verse or with the titans is always my favourite, and this one is practically the best of the best! a little angsty, a little heartwearming, a little bittersweet, all-around perfect.

2. Before the End by RobinRedR 6,700 words. angst angst angst and more angst. set in the yj universe, follows dick and wally as they grow up (but in reverse order) and how the two of them never got to say what they really meant until it was too late.

3. Safe and Sound by @kingburu 12,000 words. more angst. you guys can tell i have a penchant for making myself cry. wally travels forward in time after his death, you get to see how he and everyone else reacts. i loved this one so much i made a moodboard for it.

4. Strawberry Punch by @synxailla (sorry if i linked the wrong tumblr, it wasn’t in the fic so i did a little digging.) 38,000 words. one of the best birflash fics out there. set in the yj universe, and god, dick and wally are so cute in this one. also, wally is unabashedly, totally, completely in awe of everything robin does. its adorable.

5. Mainline by @kazyre 232,000 words. this is the ultimate hurt!wally fic, and it’s a ride. featuring most of the flash fam from the comics, a whole bunch of heroes dc always forget about, and wally being an absolute badass. also, this is probably the worst rudy fic out there. wait,,,,that came out wrong. what i mean is that rudy crosses the line from bad parent, skips over asshole, and goes straight into main villian. this fic is long, plotty, wally-centric, and super fun to read. 

6. Every Fiber of My Being by @lanestreets​ 21,000 words. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. my absolute favourite dick grayson and birdflash fics in existence. unlike the last one, this fic is dick-centric, but the way birdflash is done is beautiful. you absolutely will not regret this one, i promise you that

7. In Ice and Fire by RedRobinR 7,000 words. this one’s a little dark and a little creepy and lot wonderful. birdflash vampire au, and it’s just so well written. kind of and out-there au for this particular rec list, but i urge you to give it a read. i made a moodboard for this one too.

8. the heavy weight of living by @satellites​ (once again, super sorry if i got the wrong user, i just sort of took a shot in the dark) 3,500 words. one of the coolest, sweetest aus out there. civvies au where dick and wally survive the zombie apocalypse. i’ve been meaning to make a moodboard for this one, if someone reads this fic and likes it enough to request one i’ll do it.

9. Starbucks Epiphanies by maidenofsouls 2,000 words. fluff fluff fluff adorableness my heart is bursting. this is a perfect representation of wally’s oh shit i’m in love with him moment and it was just SO CUTE. just,,,,,,go read it. i need to make a moodboard for this one too. UGH i have too many ideas.

10. Sadist by birdflashshipper 11,500 words. i just,,,,,,,,,,you know what. i’m not even sorry. imma end this fic rec with a bang, and if that bang happens to be heavy smut with a whole bunch of bdsm sprinkled in, then so be it. except this is,,,,like,,,, well written smut. with feels. and dick’s escrima sticks are a wonderful guest star. so yea if that’s your thing then definitely give this a read.
