I usually only read larrie fics but I wouldn't mind trying some zouis fics, do you have any favorites? (I don't know if you even read zouis but you are the only "fic" person I follow that reads other ships so I thought it didn't hurt to ask!)

Oh nonnie yes!!! I LOVE zouis so much!! I’m on mobile, so this list isn’t going to be great, and my reasons for loving each aren’t going to be long because my toddler is a terror at the moment, but here’s a basic list for you to start with!

First, my own because self promo? Haha

Kiss Me Or Not - this was part of my birthday Drabbles series for Harry where I was offering to write Drabbles for anyone who donated to Harry’s birthday drive and I wrote some zouis! It’s short and sweet and was my first attempt hehe I love it though

Hope I Start Talking Crazy (before you understand me) - this one is technically zouiam, but there’s a lot of zouis in there as it’s all building up to the finally ot3 hehe it’s also a/b/o (alpha ZAYN and Liam who are already mated and omega louis), Louis moves in next door to ziam, and it’s just. It was so much fun honestly hehe it was for the zouis fest that ran last year!

Finally, You and I (Collide) - I wrote this as a gift for @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed who also loves zouis (and who has also written zouis and does a fab job!!) it’s a five times fic involving adventures in baking that Louis gets to be the taste tester for hehe

Okay and now for everyone else! Here are some of the zouis fics I’ve read most recently and loved:

You Only Fall In Love Twice by @beanno28 - okay so this fic is zourry, but since you usually only read larry fics I wanted to include this because sometimes having your usual pairing as part of it can help ease the way for you haha this was written for the Big Bang this year and is a famous/non famous fic and I loved it so much for so many reasons. It really focuses on all of their relationships and growing into the poly relationship together and it’s just. Wonderful. There’s also a focus on the poly aspect and adjusting to it and the difficulties they might face as they get used to it all that you don’t often see in poly fics, so I hugely loved having that in this one.

we’re still the kings of the Friday nights by @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed - this was written for zouis fest as well and ITS SO GOOD OMG!!! Friends to lovers, all the pining, that little hint of angst as they figure things out… it’s just. Everything good in a fic basically haha it’s a lot about self discovery as well and the way Mia writes about emotions is beautiful so of course that means this is impeccably done.

darling just dive right in by @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed - I told you she loved zouis, didn’t I? Haha I actually read this one as part of her birthday episode of @podfic-pals as a surprise for her, I love it that much. This is kind of… ex-friends with benefits to lovers? Haha I guess exes to lovers is more succinct and accurate to what they were but it’s so much pain. Soooo much pain. And then all the fluff when they realize their mistake. It’s just. So good. And royalty au!!!

New York Kiss by @quelsentiment - this fic. WHEW. Famous/non famous… kinda. Haha it takes place during Covid with quarantine and the uncertainty of the beginning of the pandemic especially playing a fairly large role in all of it and continuing as a strong undercurrent for their building relationship, so if that’s a trigger for you then stay safe, but I’m telling you this fic is art. The way every piece is put together and expounded upon, the way information is given, the emotions depicted, all of it just hits so perfectly and I love it so much.

Situations Like These by @quelsentiment - okay so I’m not going to list all of this author’s zouis fics even though I want to, but they are honest to goodness one of my very favorite rare pair fic authors ever and they also give incredible aspec representation, so just. Check them out. But this fic was just. It means so much to me I love it very much a lot. The ace rep is FAB but also the way that Louis is just trying so hard to figure out what he’s feeling and what it means and not scare ZAYN off in the meantime and it’s just so very relatable to me! The way it’s all crafted is wonderful, so I defo rec this one along with the previous fic in this list lol

I don’t want to stir anything so it’s going to be my last ask about the whole age gap thing.

Even if I’m younger than most of the men I’m fantasising about (and I don’t mean only men from F1 I mean anyone of my celebs or other crushes). It’s just that. A fantasy that is in my head and maybe I’ll write about it here. But its not like I would do half of these things. Sometimes I think about sth and I’m excited about it but in real life situations it’s just different. When I say I’d idk have someone’s babies (lol idk why it’s the first thing in my mind but nvm it’s just an example) it’s not like I really would do that. You know what I mean?

i completely get you!! all the drivers i write about are close to my age or older, oscar’s the only one younger and it’s by 6 months or something. but ive been writing fic since i was like 13 years old and was posting on tumblr, fanfiction dot net, quotev, wattpad and more old fanfic sites, writing about men twice my age. i was a child writing bring me the horizon fanfics (shout out oli sykes first man i ever wrote and published fic about)

writing is just an outlet to me. the people i write about are essentially face claims. i don't know any of them or anything real about them, i’m just making things up as i go along. anything i do know or learn about them, i take with a grain of salt because they have entire teams curating their image and making them look good. i know if i were famous, that’s what i would be doing. people wouldn’t know shit ab the real me bc i would probably get cancelled for being a mean girl in high school or something stupid like that LMAO

i would do like 75% of the things i write about, a lot of them are fantasies i already have and i’m just expressing myself and using the drivers likeness as inspiration. i could very easily (and have) create and name all my characters but that’s just not as fun for me. things are very different in real life, there are definitely things i wouldn’t/won’t do and things i’m just waiting for the right person to do with because i need a certain level of trust and i haven’t found the right person.

it’s not like i’m writing this stuff thinking i’ll meet one of them and they’ll hop into bed w me or anything like that. it’s just a creative outlet. i post bc i like the attention and reactions when people like what i write, that’s about it.

I'm really sorry you're feeling a bit low and don't know what to do or if you should keep on doing what you like(d). I'm pretty sure the momentary lack of response has nothing to do with you or the quality of your work though! I can only imagine how lonely it can feel out there in the virtual world/social media and every missing like, comment or reaction might seem like a rejection or dislike. Please don't forget there might be a 1000 different reasons... part/1

People might be too busy, stressed out, have work/family problems or are going through a little rough patch. I get it, we got so used to measure success with likes and comments that a lack thereof can seem like a failure. But it is not! Try no to worry too much about it, treat yourself to a little 'me-time' taking care of you and wait a bit before you get back to it all. part/2

Who knows, maybe tomorrow or in a few days or next week everything falls back into place and people are ready to show you their appreciation. i totally understand that people are busy and have far better things to do than read my work. I think i'd just gotten so used to have at least one comment the following morning that when i didn't it sort of made me confuse and wonder if it was me. Like never apologise to me for not reading my work yet... i get it. I post like a machine and you guys have lives (and yes i am human... May I can practically see you screaming that I am a robot...)

Because of the way that things had been going, there was less engagement in my asks unless people were wanting sneak peaks and I was doing the rose game... or it was me asking you guys for things, made me honestly wonder if I was the problem.

Work's been a lot lately, and not even because i'm busy but because of the opposite. i've got a lot of pressure on one case i'm working and it's stressful and people don't seem to be supportive of that but cause I'm not actually in my usual department it's even harder.

I am very much alone at work. the nearest person to me that does the same job to me is a 110 miles away.

I used to measure the success of my stories on hits and kudos and the likes but after a minor meltdown over a year ago I stopped caring about them. I was getting interactions for a set of regulars (some of whom no longer comment on my work but I think still read it...) and that was enough.

but because i'm feeling so out of sorts with my professional life, i've thrown myself into this a bit more and it's...crept in here.

seriously like sometimes to a writer just the one comment can lift their spirits. we do this for free... like I spend a lot of my free time doing this, (and not free time as I write at work as well) so when the comments and the interactions stop... it makes me wonder why i'm doing this.

I don't have my comments moderated and i allow guests to post comments, and I have my asks on Anon so that people can share without feeling shy.

I am always grateful for the interaction and it's what makes it all the more worth it.

I am not the sort of person who can keep in her feelings, it will either show on my face or i have to get them off my chest or they will actually consume me. i've had so many issues in the past with no opening up and sharing so it's why I will sometimes have these little wobbles and rambles about it but usually below a cut because not everyone wants to read about my anxiety and my issues.

but i think we all need the reminder, I used to be so bad at it but I have to practise what i preach, it's why I will send my favourite author's asks about their stories, wanting to know some of the minor details, wanting to know more.

its why i will reply to people's posts and why i will ALWAYS reply to comments! even if its a thank you for reading because it's so important that people know we've read them!

Rowling isn't denying holocaust. She just pointed out that burning of transgender health books is a lie as that form of cosmetic surgery didn't exist. But of course you knew that already, didn't you?

I was thinking I'd probably see one of you! You're wrong :) Let's review the history a bit, shall we?

In this case, what we're talking about is the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, or in English, The Institute of Sexology. This Institute was founded and headed by a gay Jewish sexologist named Magnus Hirschfeld. It was founded in July of 1919 as the first sexology research clinic in the world, and was run as a private, non-profit clinic. Hirschfeld and the researchers who worked there would give out consultations, medical advice, and even treatments for free to their poorer clientele, as well as give thousands of lectures and build a unique library full of books on gender, sexuality, and eroticism. Of course, being a gay man, Hirschfeld focused a lot on the gay community and proving that homosexuality was natural and could not be "cured".

Hirschfeld was unique in his time because he believed that nobody's gender was either one or the other. Rather, he contended that everyone is a mixture of both male and female, with every individual having their own unique mix of traits.

This leads into the Institute's work with transgender patients. Hirschfeld was actually the one to coin the term "transsexual" in 1923, though this word didn't become popular phrasing until 30 years later when Harry Benjamin began expanding his research (I'll just be shortening it to trans for this brief overview.) For the Institute, their revolutionary work with gay men eventually began to attract other members of the LGBTA+, including of course trans people.

Contrary to what Anon says, sex reassignment surgery was first tested in 1912. It'd already being used on humans throughout Europe during the 1920's by the time a doctor at the Institute named Ludwig Levy-Lenz began performing it on patients in 1931. Hirschfeld was at first opposed, but he came around quickly because it lowered the rate of suicide among their trans patients. Not only was reassignment performed at the Institute, but both facial feminization and facial masculization surgery were also done.

The Institute employed some of these patients, gave them therapy to help with other issues, even gave some of the mentioned surgeries for free to this who could not afford it! They spoke out on their behalf to the public, even getting Berlin police to help them create "transvestite passes" to allow people to dress however they wanted without the threat of being arrested. They worked together to fight the law, including trying to strike down Paragraph 175, which made it illegal to be homosexual. The picture below is from their holiday party, Magnus Hirschfeld being the gentleman on the right with the fabulous mustache. Many of the other people in this photo are transgender.

There was always push back against the Institute, especially from conservatives who saw all of this as a bad thing. But conservatism can't stop progress without destroying it. They weren't willing to go that far for a good while. It all ended in March of 1933, when a new Chancellor was elected. The Nazis did not like homosexuals for several reasons. Chief among them, we break the boundaries of "normal" society. Shortly after the election, on May 6th, the book burnings began. The Jewish, gay, and obviously liberal Magnus Hirschfeld and his library of boundary-breaking literature was one of the very first targets. Thankfully, Hirschfeld was spared by virtue of being in Paris at the time (he would die in 1935, before the Nazis were able to invade France). His library wasn't so lucky.

This famous picture of the book burnings was taken after the Institute of Sexology had been raided. That's their books. Literature on so much about sexuality, eroticism, and gender, yes including their new work on trans people. This is the trans community's Alexandria. We're incredibly lucky that enough of it survived for Harry Benjamin and everyone who came after him was able to build on the Institute's work.

As the Holocaust went on, the homosexuals of Germany became a targeted group. This did include transgender people, no matter what you say. To deny this reality is Holocaust denial. JK Rowling and everyone else who tries to pretend like this isn't reality is participating in that evil. You're agreeing with the Nazis.
