-Hey! ‘Morning, morning…!

-...Good morning.

-Thaaat… didn’t sound convincing at all. Are you really having a good morning?- Yunho’s sweet voice reached your ears like some sort of lullaby. Although it was only nine in the morning, you felt like taking a nap, again. The one you took on the subway on your way to university wasn’t enough.  

You were feeling quite slumpy for no reason in particular, and your friend had now made it his problem, too. 

-What if we–

-No, Yunho. No skipping lectures…- you tried to sound responsible even though that thought has been lingering in your mind for at least three hours.

-Woah, that’s what you were thinking about? I was gonna suggest to go grab a coffee but if skipping class is what you really want to do then…- he giggled, his eyes searching for yours while the two of you were heading to class: the thought of spending the following hour and a half stuck in a room with other 80 students didn’t really excite you that much. You were glad that Yunho was there to keep you company, though. 

Since you still had some time before the lecture started, the two of you quickly grabbed a drink from the vending machine: a really bitter canned coffee and a really sweet peach ice-tea. What a duo… 

-Hopefully your way too sweet ice-tea won’t make you straight up fall asleep in class.

-Shush, at least it’s not whatever abomination you keep getting.

-It’s just coffee–

-I’m sure you’re the only one in this whole university that buys that.

-Oh well… more for me then, heh!- he shrugged, a faint smirk painting his lips before he took a sip of his drink. The two of you quickly arrived in class and found two seats, your hands swiftly taking out your laptop from your bag, sipping on your drink while waiting for it to turn on and load your notes. The professor hadn’t arrived yet so the room was filled with a lot of chattering, giggles and mumbling; students were gradually filling the seats around you and you found yourself leaning your head on Yunho’s shoulder out of boredom. 

-Yunho, I really don’t want to be here…

-Mh? Do you want to skip? The prof is not he– oh! Nevermind, he’s just arrived.

You scoffed, trying not to laugh too loud at the perfect timing of his comment. Shaking your head slowly, you fixed yourself on the really uncomfortable chair and took one last sip of your drink. as you brought your whole focus to your laptop, the way-too-calm voice that your professor used whenever he had a lecture started to fill your ears. You sighed, probably trying to conceal a possible yawn from leaving your mouth, and threw a quick glance at Yunho, sitting on your right: he was carefully taking notes on his notebook– his handwriting wasn’t the best, but you had always found it quite adorable, the way he would somehow crouch while taking notes, his hand quickly moving on the book, his pencil case storing a whole army of blue pens and blue pens only, besides one yellow highlighter and a pencil.

The professor’s soporific voice echoed in the room (since he had decided to use the mic to be heard better) along with the typing sounds of people taking notes on their laptops. You tried to stay focused, yet your mind was wandering away way too easily, and you didn’t know why: so many thoughts flooded in, the main one being a really strong need to just stand up and leave that damn lecture. You sighed once again, and you suddenly felt someone tapping on your arm.

It was Yunho: his eyes were not hiding the obvious concern and worry he was feeling towards you– but you just couldn’t even explain how come you were feeling so blue that day. Maybe it was the ugly weather? The heavy gray clouds you spotted on your way to class that morning? Or the fact that you had stayed up all night playing games and not winning a single match…

You shook your head and tried to bring your focus back to your laptop screen: that half-empty document page was waiting for some new words to be inserted, and your heavy hands tried to type in whatever the professor was talking about, although tiredness was getting the best of you. Yunho tapped once again on your shoulder, this time he offered you his pencil: you accepted it, now holding it in your hand and not really knowing what to do with it. Yunho lightly pushed his notebook towards you, leaving a blank spot available for you to doodle on. A smile painted your lips while you started to quickly draw some little silly characters, moving to writing random comments and words, and then switching to writing Yunho’s name in various fonts: whenever you completed one, you would leave a quick “dummy ~ “ right next to it just to move on to the next font.

You had obviously abandoned your notes, although you tried from time to time to type in something –some concepts or quick important things– but your attention would move back to Yunho’s notebook quite easily: your eyes and mind were absorbing every letter and drawing you left in that blank space that, well, wasn’t blank anymore. You weren’t aware of the way Yunho had been looking at you the whole time: his eyes softened the moment you accepted the pencil, his lips were curved in a sweet smile and he silently admired every drawing you had left on that page while he carefully took notes without disrupting your little masterpiece.

Once he had to turn the page, though, he lightly tapped on your hand with a finger: you didn’t pay much attention to it for a moment, probably because you were so bored of that lecture and so absorbed in your little world that you weren’t paying attention to anything or anyone at all at that point. His finger traced random lines on your knuckles before you finally stopped and looked at him, giving him a few seconds to turn the page and resume with his notes. You silently apologized, leaving a little smiley right next to the few words he had written. 

The moment you heard your professor dismiss the class, you stretched your arms, somehow acting as if you did something productive during that lecture. You did feel a bit more relaxed and you had to thank Yunho for that. In such an easy way he was able to let you silently vent and get distracted, assuring you that he would have lended you his notes. You promised you would have offered him an ice-cream as a thank you gift. 

-Oh well then, don’t mind me if I choose one of the most expensive ones!

-It’s fine, Yunho. It’s both for the notes and for the fact that I basically vandalized your notebook.

He shook his head, laughing- You really liked writing my name, what, four times in a row? But it’s fine, at least you didn’t fall asleep… 

-C’mon, the professor even used the mic today… It was the perfect lullaby…

-I can’t even imagine falling asleep to an old man explaining marketing graphs but I guess to each their own…- you lightly slapped his arm in response, laughing.

-Right, did you hear about that project the other departments came up with? 

-No, I was too busy writing your name in different fonts for a whole hour.

-Oh, true. Well I just understood that some people will be involved in a whole photoshoot! The photography kids are quite good, you should apply to that.

-Me? Nah, I’d rather–

-Spend the whole night playing games just to come to lectures completely sleep deprived?

You stopped abruptly, nearly tripping in your own steps- What’s up with the sudden callout?!

-I was so worried this morning. But then I checked and saw your last access online was at 2 in the morning… with a 4 hour long gameplay… uninterrupted…

You bit your tongue, your eyes quickly avoiding to meet his. You got busted! And no excuse would have saved you in any way…

You had promised, at the beginning of the semester, that you wouldn’t have destroyed your sleep schedule over some silly video game. You were quite serious about that and allowed Yunho to see your game history and access just to keep you in check. A little detail you had momentarily forgotten…

-Yunho… forgive me?- you looked at him, signaling an apology with your hands, held tight together.

-You’re lucky today we don’t have other lectures… Were you perhaps planning to not come at all?- he looked at you, his eyes nearly closed because of the way he was (jokingly) glaring at you. 

You quickly moved your gaze away, clearing your throat before admitting that you were indeed planning to skip lectures and that was why you went to sleep so late. But in the morning you felt quite guilty, remembering how Yunho would often tell you not to skip classes otherwise it would become a bad habit, so you decided to go even though you were completely sleep-deprived. 

Yunho tried his best to hide a smile from showing on his lips, failing miserably because of how cute you looked in his eyes. His hand fixed a lock of your hair, delicately moving it behind your ear.

-Well, I really appreciate how your sleep deprived brain thought about me, but next time take better care of yourself, okay?- he mumbled, his fingers delicately caressing your hair.

You nodded, receiving a quick peck on your cheek.

-Let’s go then, I’m really in the mood for a big big ice-cream a certain someone is going to offer me!- his hand lightly grabbed yours, and you let him lead you to the usual place you would stop by to get some snacks. 

The sky was clear, no heavy gray clouds were in sight anymore and you really felt better, probably thanks to him and his precious company. You felt really lucky.

OK OKOK!! I have a couple in hand not much but some :D (I went on a rant I’m so sorry)

Let’s start with my two obvious favourites

1. Buford x phineas, sure bully x nerd cliche but this is a different type of relationship I see.

Slowly but surely they become close friends and even buddies, I feel like Buford would be a the same just less defensive with phineas and his random unhinged moments. Usually listening phineas rant about what seems to be a bug (or other things) and what type of bugs he’s allowed and not allowed to eat (summer belongs to you episode), and Buford would talk about his fish they both could keep each other going if they didn’t have their best friend (baljeet and ferb) they can remind each other of the small things they forget say perhaps phineas waking up as early as Buford does. Or reminding Buford to take care of himself once in a while that type of thing. As much as Buford tried to be a bully he has a limit of being a bully and honestly he isn’t so bad of a guy and I can see phineas reading that pretty well.

Their dynamic would be like..not like baljeet and Buford’s it just as much as a symbiotic relationship but a lil differently. Clownfish and anemones!!! That’s their relationship! Buford’s the anemone and phineas is the clownfish! (Ironic because of his shirt) it’s healthy and they keep each other going and safe! (Also phineas would prolly help with biff alot)

2. Perry the platypus x Peter the panda

Yeah I know I doubt Perry likes Peter after doof ‘cheated’ on him with Peter but when they work together (when they saved doofenshmirtz) I feel like Perry’s bitterness would fade slowly. (Also the time they went on a date when they fixed the balloon) as it did happen. Perry would find a way to get Peter in the picture, long term relationship wise. Their dynamic is kinda like ‘I secretly love you but I have to much of a lone wolf ego to say it’ and Peter ‘I know.’ Peter understands Perry’s relationship with Heinz and respects what was probably said boundary wise. The two having to listen to their nemesis or not listen it would be nice to just be with someone you can open up to even if it means in your own agency. And different species. It’s like a..hero x hero typa thing! They can keep each other up and going if their nemesis gets abit..much..I also feel like he’s be texting Peter on how stupidly naive Heinz could be and Peter rant about mysterious (what’s his name) being too closed off to open abit more.

Ok this one is especially weird- like ‘wtf 🤨’ weird

3. Lawrence x Heinz; OK hear me out (pls)

They had one interaction (when Lawrence temporarily became evil..it didn’t last) I didn’t think of it, it’s the dynamic I thought of.

Lawrence watching as Heinz talks to himself about it some platypus and the explosion leaving marks behind he would probably tend to the dirt and messes. Listening to Heinz rant and rant and rant- and when Heinz is done he’d ask for Lawrence’s info about antiques and such and they’d just share each others special interest (ADHD + Autism) and he’d take care of norm every once and awhile so Heinz doesn’t flip out on him. It’s healthy and Heinz would be so affectionate (probably) AND ferb would get to meet Heinz which works out to help Heinz make some fun inator’s (not evil Heinz’s attention would be on ferb and Lawrence’s safety his own is irrelevant) Lawrence would be oblivious to the evil but not to oblivious to see the inator’s. He’d prolly go “what is this dear?” -L

“It’s my new inator that vines down to a traumatic period of my life!” -H

“That’s healthy to put it in scientific technology. Do you want to talk about it over some almond brittle and tea?”-L

IT WOULD BE ADORABLE. (In my eyes)

4. Buford x ferb.

Alright almost the same thing as BxP but ferb’s silent demeanour would probably have an affect with Buford’s bully behaviour. Like put them in a room together Buford would say a couple mean things then suddenly he’s quiet. Almost sleepy at this point. Then suddenly ferb says one fact and Buford adds on to that fact and suddenly they’re having a one sided conversation as Buford debates said fact and ferb debates silently.

One would be the voice of the other (Buford being ferbs voice) about what’s right or wrong.

5. Baljeet x phineas the two’s dynamic is simple and easy!

Anddd baljeet would be there to fix little mistakes phineas would do (Audhd) and phineas would be sorta annoyed but literally happy he doesn’t think about that small mistake for the rest of his life.

Another symbiotic relationship. Unknown animals though I’d say Coyote and badger, both smart in their own ways.

Okay, so - I have an intense urge to explain my little concept AU with Grumpy Devon and Sunshine Jake. How will I do that?

By using Hozier's "Too Sweet" but in the female's perspective. (This is stuff I've gathered online and stuff I think would fit Jake's perspective)

NOW. ONWARD.

"I'm really picky about who I date/My body's scared, let's keep it that way." Jake being pretty strict on what it takes to access him since this is probably the only thing he can have true control over. Everything he's like has already been taken away or tainted, his body and mind are the only few "pure" things about him that he wants to stick.

"I wish I could go along, but you came off way to strong." Do not get me wrong, Jake is in fact in love with Devon. This man is head-over-heels, weak in the knees, kicking and screaming into a pillow kind of in love. However, he is worried that Devon's "bitter nature" will affect the relationship because Devon doesn't think he's worthy of good things and he perceives Jake as something good that comes once in a lifetime. Also, Devon can come off as rude or unfeeling or even like a fucking asshole sometimes, hence the "way too strong."

"You know you're tough as the ocean, bold as a storm, pretty like a bonfire, hands too rough to hold." This is Jake describing almost everything he knows and likes about Devon. He likes that he's tough and doesn't take bullshit, he likes that he's bold and will say what's on his mind, he likes - no, LOVES that Devon is pretty like a bonfire. Pretty far away, beautiful up close and pulling you in but will burn you if you make the wrong move, and Devon's hands being rough is also something to like. From experience, rough hands are stimulating to run your fingers up and down and trace. ESPECIALLY if you already have soft hands.

"I do love a sweet whiskey, but I hate it straight and cold. Baby, don't mold.." This implies that Jake likes the same things Devon does - room temperature whiskey or hard liquor, and hating when it's cold the difference is Jake prefers it sweet. Or more over, he prefers it bittersweet. And "mold" implies transformation or change, and he's saying "Don't change for me."

"I'd rather take my liquor sweet. Your coffee black, I put 6 sugars in my tea. But these things are best bittersweet, wouldn't you agree?" This is self explanatory. Jake likes sweet things because it's what seperates him from his uncle and father, who drink hard ass, bitter ass alcohol. And Jake's saying that alcohol, or them, are better bittersweet. It's almost like a discreet love confession and Devon's answer will imply if he and Jake ever have a chance at being in a relationship.

In other words, your honor, they make me severely mentally ill.

-Framme Chloe B: Oh this is literally just a continuation of the previous support scene. Chloe’s excitement over the bizarre eel sandwich was pretty cute.

-Alear Celine C: T E A. Also a weird legend about a spirit that drives off interlopers from Firene Castle with tricks. That said, Celine’s dedication and love for the peaceful nature of her kingdom is pretty endearing.

-Alear Chloe C: Chloe’s watching Alear sleep @,@ She apparently does this a lot. She wants to sleep in Alear’s room lol.

-Sommie is apparently “tall as a loaf of bread,” and weighs “2 peaches”. Okay.

-Finally continuing the story!

-Sparkle hair thief. She’s very bad at hiding. Oh, fake tears lol. Alfred falls for it, Alear seems unsure.

-”Hiya Papiya” Yunaka is very annoying.

-Etie’s grown str on 4 consecutive levels roflmao.

-Okay Yunaka’s actually quite good gameplay-wise.

-Chloe got MVP again. She had Sigurd this time so she spent a lot of time flying around and sniping people.

-Pretty good fog of war map, and those are often bad. The map was better-built around it than Chapter 3 of Three Houses was.

-Micaiah got Yunaka to turn her whole life around. She always was pretty incredible :p

-Alfred actually improving a bit seeing through Yunaka.

-Oh, Yunaka’s voice actress is Laura Post, knew she sounded familiar.

-Oh hey it’s Veyle again. She’s looking for her sibling. 100% it’s Alear.

I don't know if it's me being an old fan sourpuss, but even tho the gameplay is really fun and I'm gonna be playing this forever......... you remember how everyone crapped on botw's story for being too short? Are we actually enjoying the Zonai story rn ? 😭 I want to like it so much, but I already don't really like what they did with the Zonai, these godlike beings that came to the surface the same damn way the hylians did and the Minish did too and being worshipped immediately (big fuck you to Hylia) and then those godlike beings gain supreme control over them in government as well?? With insane OP powers?? And I'm supposed to LIKE those characters??? The rest of these supposed godlike being just fucked off somewhere pfft okay. That definitely doesn't leave a big gaping hole in Rauru's story because why the hell is he busy holding dominion over the Hylians? What are his character motivations? Fuck all to do with his people that's for sure !!!! He just wants ultimate rule over the Surface, abusing his unchecked OP powers to forcibly unite the continent into Hyrule and Ganondorf is the bad guy...? For not giving up his country to Rauru? For also wanting control over Hyrule, the EXACT THING RAURU IS DOING?

Meanwhile, I was so excited for Sonia because she's!!!! Sksw!Zelda & Link's not TOO distant descendant!! When we found out she & Rauru founded Hyrule, I thought omg! It's a very new country, so she's going to like a people's queen, just like botw!Zelda is now! A queen who gathers and hunts with her people (as her official art shows her with a basket of berries), and takes good care of them alongside them! It's a monarchy in infancy, so that is not at all farfetched. And it matches the fact that Hylians are very much like little toddlers you have to keep an eye on. And the Hylians are HER responsibility as a descendant of the Goddess...

BUT... instead they already have a castle (Zonai built) and they already have a standing military (against who? Oh yeah, they are conquering all the land to forcibly unite it) and they live in luxury and sip tea in their fucking garden all day. When Rauru does hunt, it's FOR FUN, AND Sonia drags him back to the castle. Wtf???? Also Sonia is little more than eye candy on Rauru's arm?? 😭😭 That was the biggest disappointment. It's made VERY clear that HE is the king and she sits beside him. Why is there misogyny in early Hyrule?? Their deities are women or women-coded, no men at all???? Why is Sonia not the leader of her people and instead its her goat husband?? There's one scene of their "court" where Ganondorf and Rauru talk, and the entire scene, Sonia just sits there with doe eyes and a warm smile. Not one word the entire scene.

That's just the first of my grievances with the story. I really really enjoyed the story of botw. But this isn't me being like, bitter that things are different. I genuinely really disliked the pacing and story this time around :/

If you asked me about them the first time I played season 2 I (MC) might have said something a little bit shady/bitter because I wanted Kassam to give MC a real chance but like?? Kassam wasn’t having it? Or impressed at all. At least not completely. He was set on Lottie and barely looked at MC or anyone else. The biggest thing we might have gotten was a small smile or glance of acknowledgment from him... Did we get a chance to pick him on our way back to the villa or is it always Arjun or Carl? (That was my gameplay) but that’s not the question!!!

I probably have to go back and download the game again + PLAY a third round? since you guys are being active and want to hear from me 🥺 (and I haven’t played in months/since the last time I did hcs/FACECLAIMs so there’s that!) ANYWAYS back to the point I do think aesthetically?? they’re cute as hell to look at. She’s got the whole goth? Punk? Witch? What are we defining her look as? Lol! Look going for her and then there’s Kassam who’s introverted, the moody or broody DJ guy? It just works on paper. Plus I think he has or either is slightly a emo boy.

Relationship wise? Idk. Lottie’s got a lot of growing to do and she’s shown that she’s capable of doing so towards the mid-end of the show. And I want to believe that it sticks outside of the show. That she wants to be better. I did HCs that eventually it doesn’t work out with Gary and they go their separate ways so I do think she could give it a go with Kassam if it is what he wanted. I think she had a complaint about him before she coupled up with Gary? I can’t remember what it was but it made it seem like it was a factor or possible issue in their relationship. OR it was just an excuse for her to further go forth with her feelings for Gary? Maybe so.

Besides liking the aesthetic of each other, we don’t know much of Kassam. Only by pure assumption and not all introverts are just surface level, we have layers okay?! So I do think Kassam has more to him than what meets the eye and he was drawn to Lottie because she’s always vocal (unless it was Gary, because girl code ya know? She’s a girls girl) and it would seem that she would say what was on her mind, keeping it honest. That’s what Kassam wants, someone to tell him like it is. Yet there is a thing as too vocal. And as introverts it gets exhausting always picking when or when not to retort or say something back. Meaning some people might find that as lacking conversation or back bone but that’s not really it? Lottie is probably one of those people. She can’t stand complete silence all the time.

I feel like Kassam seems unbothered but it’s really a social anxiety thing or having a million things circulating around in his mind but when he does have something to say, he means it and you’re gonna listen to him. Or want to listen, at least.

They have a balance and it works only if they want it to. Only if they find a understanding of each other. What makes them them. Lottie let’s her emotions get the best of her, clouding her judgement a lot of the time and it comes off as bitchy if you’re not following what she wants. She likes being in control and it’s a issue if you don’t let her have it. That’s something she needs to work on and not always be in attack mode. Like I brainstorm, I think she levels out but she’s not going to completely erase her character. She’s got fire elements in her and Kassam is chill. You have to do a lot to make him mad, he’ll be annoyed but mad Kassam is sinister. And he never wants to get to that point. He agreed not to. Ever again.

Lottie likes to push and all Kassam has to do is look at her. Really look at her, as if he’s seeing through her (flaws) to let her know exactly what he’s thinking. It’s weird and it’s got her reading her tea leaves because wtf is that? She never backs down from anyone. And sometimes she’ll push even further to get more than just a deep stare of a reaction and when Kassam actually says something with his words? She still doesn’t like it. It’s common knowledge, Lottie likes to be the dominant one...but is she really? Has she found the one to make her a bit submissive? To soothe her down? The calm to her storm?

There are some hcs that Lottie ultimately ends up with Hannah and anything is possible? I feel like Lottie fits into the Q of the LBGTQIA+ and I would like to see what could happen with her and Kassam. As of right now? I do think it’s a maybe. We didn’t get to see much. I’m not sure if they’ll make it long term but they could??

☆ he's not the best at art, but he learned basic anatomy + sketching techniques just to create portraits of you

☆ he's really great at poetry and creative/descriptive writing though and writes about you and generally the way you make him feel

☆ once compared you to grass though 💀 but it turned out kinda nice because it was a metaphor for how even when people hurt you you always come back and you keep him (the dirt) from being washed away and stuff 🥺

☆ he has a good singing voice. I think he'd be a tenor, and his voice is good for jazz he can also play the piano really well (it's those long setter fingers 😩)

☆ he loves flowers and either has little potted ones around place or a small garden outside. you've caught him talking to the plants about you. all good things, of course. I think his favorites would be lillies (the white ones I think) but idk much about flowers

☆ he likes to get you jewelery (bruh how do you spell that???), especially engraved jewelery. sometimes it's got random dates on it and you have to ask him what happened that day, and he'll start telling you about something you thought was small but meant a lot to him that happened that day. usually it's a day when you two had a date and he felt it should be remembered.

☆ he really likes musicals. not as in he's a theatre kid (though he could be) but more like he loves the stories and how they're told through song and dance.

☆ he annotates his books. sometimes you'll borrow one from him to read and find he's underlined and written about things that made him think of you 😭

☆ he's very romantic but he doesn't necessarily try to be. he's also naturally very aesthetic.

☆ he can tap dance. I've literally been in tap dancer akaashi brainrot since I listened to "King of new york" from newsies 😭😭 and he's so HOT when he tap dances, he's really good at it but he hasn't practiced/done lessons in forever, so he's a little rusty. but he used to do competitions and stuff and was extremely good at the dance.

☆ I feel like although he doesn't really seem like one to do so, he uses reaction memes in texts somewhat often. not just the affectionate ones, but also the "😐" or aggressive ones (very hot of him to use reaction memes 😌)

☆ he collects mugs! he drinks coffee in the morning so he needed some mugs at first, but then he started getting one wherever he traveled to as a souvenir (and he doesn't travel too often, whether it's for vacation or business it's usually around every other year or something) and now he has a whole cupboard of mugs

☆ he also likes tea. and while i feel like he prefers his coffee somewhat bitter, he usually adds milk to his tea. I think he's also a big fan of boba tea, and his favorite (mine too) is milk tea (made with black tea) with brown sugar and boba

☆ his dream home is an industrial apartment (is that what it's called?) with a balcony or patio. he likes the city since he's from tokyo... I think. he'd love to live somewhere where the skies are clear and he can see the stars, but he's gotta live near the city for work 🥲 though some stars are visible, at least, from that patio

☆ he likes to wear rings. even though he's lowkey insecure about his fingers and rings would draw more attention to them, he likes to fidget with the accessories

☆ he's really good at braiding hair. he hasn't really practiced, he's just a natural. first time he braided your hair it looked really good and both of you were kinda shocked. he's pretty good at hair things in general, actually.

☆ loves holding hands. LOVES LOVES LOVES HOLDING HANDS.

☆ he really likes fuzzy blankets. whenever he's on the couch he's wrapped up in one.

☆ one of his favorite cuddle positions is with you sitting on his lap, curled up almost cat-like with your head on his chest and his arms wrapped around you. and a fuzzy blanket.

☆ he has really long, dark eyelashes and it's so pretty.

☆ he likes talking to you about his dreams and he likes hearing about yours.

☆ he's down to try anything with you. you want to try veganism? he'll join you. want to learn a language? so does he. want to get a tarot reading? what a coincidence, he was thinking the same thing!

☆ he has a little tattoo above his right ankle. it looks exactly like this ☆ and it remind him of you 🥺

S4 Ep 39: Pharaoh Can Fly (Selectively)

Guys, they’re back

Best storyboarder is back, and the visual difference between last episode and this episode is like when your art teacher picks up your charcoal and just fixes everything wrong with your gesture drawings. It’s like...I mean look at this:

I just really love and appreciate how illustrative this storyboarder is. And I say just storyboarder because this had about the same budget as the last episode--there wasn’t that much actual animation as per usual. But, all of the scenes were drawn so well, like panels out of a good manga. They just...they always nail it when they’re at the helm and I don’t know why they’re on Yugioh, but bless this storyboarder.

Plot wise, everyone got pulled into the dragon by gooey tentacles that came out of it’s stomach, don’t think about it.

Meanwhile, all of the minibosses could communicate with them and beg for help, yes, even the same miniboss who may have dressed up like Pegasus and catfished Seto Kaiba.

The whole process of getting absorbed into the Orichalcos demon was a whole lot of symbolism and it was...kinda gross. Also kinda sketch. Also, for Kaiba it is a neat little nod to S1 when he had a vision that his brother was absorbed into a dragon mass.

I don’t think that the makers of the show remember S1, but either they just really like goopy dragons, or it’s a coincidence or I dunno, on purpose? Probably a coincidence.

And like I made this joke and realized...what if they actually meant to make that parallel though? This is the America crossover season, and they have referenced America’s love of trickster rabbits before with Pegasus but do they know about Br’er rabbit in Japan? Do they know? It’s a pretty Americana Deep-cut, and I have no idea how common this folktale is outside of the states.

I see anime busting out absorbing goopy masses all the time so I’m gonna assume that there might be a Japanese folklore I don’t know about which uses a similar structure (although I’m also assuming it has an extremely different history and association ((which I won’t be going into because I don’t feel like putting a trigger warning on this recap)).)

And looking at Wikipedia, there’s people that think the original reference to moist, absorbing creatures could have even come from as far as India. Which is...fascinating to how it also developed in Africa, and then the Cherokee also made the same story independently and then it fused together here in the States to make it what was eventually made into a Disney movie that will never be released again--this is just a really old ass story, all in all, possibly like over a thousand years old.

And a FASCINATING google deep dive I won’t go into for obvious reasons but knock yourself out.

Also, lets get distracted for a sec and see how well this storyboarder drew a fitted jacket at that angle. Dear Lord, did they get reference for that or did their brain just already know that those folds would be there? You can even tell that Pharaoh has just a little bit of padding at his shoulders. Ugh. Guys this storyboarder is so freakin good at these little fitted jackets.

So, once Yugi and his friends are absorbed into the mass, where they should have died...and maybe some of them did, but I don’t know if I should add that to the Death Count because like...they could have held their breath in the amount of time they were stuck in there...maybe...Anyway, they are saved by being tossed into the figurative briar patch--by the souls all hanging out in the Leviathan’s stomach--which again makes me wonder...did they pull a folklore on us? Again, I have no idea.

Like a lot of the people in this dragon have been thorns in their side this entire season, they’ve all tried to kill them at one point--all the minibosses, Mai, Pegasus--but now they have decided to team up with Pharaoh (along with the rest of the human race) and offer whatever they can to free them from the grip of the gross dragon mass.

And like, the ending of the folk tale is that the thorny ass briar patch is also where the rabbit lives usually. It hurts everyone else, but the rabbit--the rabbit can deal with it. And likewise, Pharaoh is freakin dead. He’s at home here. He’s surrounded by spirit power, his friends and their friendship power, this is like his zone, and now he’s crazy powerful for it and will be for the rest of the episode.

And like Yami is a very trickster God (especially Season Zero Yami) so like...it does make sense that he would mirror a folk tale based on trickster Gods, even if it is by complete accident.

So Pharaoh imagines everyone’s tears as individual drops in a glass or something--it’s not a literal glass or anything--it’s just there because the only thing actually happening on screen was his hand hanging out of this dragon’s weird puss skin.

And he’s now a fully charged Sonic the Hedgehog and no longer needs Kaiba or Joey at all. Just gonna grab his God card demons and take charge of everything else from here on out.

By first exploding his buddies right the hell out of this lizard and across hundreds of feet of open ocean.

Joey decides to remind Kaiba that he lost the Battle City tournament.

Seto’s roast was actually in the show, PS. He is not super excited to be reminded that Yugi owns every card that he spent 2 seasons failing to get.

And then Pharaoh did something really, really...

...just really really wild.

OH OK.

YEAH JUST TAKE OFF.

GO AHEAD THERE’S NO REASON THIS WOULD BOTHER ME.

I mean he IS super powered right now but like...

Like...WTF?

4 SEASONS. 4 SEASONS I thought this guy was glued to Yugi like Peter Pan’s Shadow and apparently--he can bounce.

Can Pharaoh do this every time Yugi asks Tea out on a date and tries to instead make the ghost in his head do all the work now? Can Pharaoh just be like “NOPE” and then phase out of the house, leaving Yugi to actually do the hard stuff?

It really adds a level of complexity to their relationship if Yugi can get a room.

(If not a room for romance, but at the very least a room to poop in.)

OR has he been able to allow Yugi to wicked poop in peace this whole time, but the show just never felt like telling us because they felt like it wasn’t important (although it is crazy important)?

Either way I am just...floored at this character development.

Yami just let Yugi out of his sight for like...I want to say 8 full minutes. Just incredible amount of trust on Yami’s part. Incredible. Knowing Yugi’s track record, he should have died in those 8 minutes but...he was being babysat by both Kaiba and Joey.

So Yami summons the Gods and they shoot lasers--you kinda expect this sort of thing.

And this is...probably...the real reason why Dartz didn’t bother trying to attack Pharaoh 5,000 years ago.

I can still think it’s because of Bakura but like...this is probably the real reason. It felt pretty chump to just shoot a laser at the bastard. Pharaoh just had to be reminded that this is a thing he can just do. If he felt like it.

Which he never feels like doing, because he’s too busy watching Yugi’s every move, and getting distracted by High School shenanigans.

After this happens, the giant snake falls to the ocean, splitting into just sooooooo many ghosts.

Over 7.8 billion ghosts, if we’re to assume that this is most of the population on Earth.

(thinking the weird-o in the hat is probably a Duel Monsters card? The duel monsters were throwing themselves into the Leviathan at one point so this is probably like a dark magician boy or something...I just don’t get very attached to the monster cards so it was like...whatever. The cards die like constantly so who cares?)

It is a pretty set dressing. Like Christmas lights but...dead people.

We also find out that the lost family of our minibosses Alister and Raphael, have indeed spent the last many years inside the Leviathan stomach, which is pretty tragic. We get a bitter sweet conclusion to Alister and Raphael’s story--although it’s not a full on ending for either character. Their life still hella sucks, they are in therapy for basically forever.

Where is Gurimo?

I don’t know what sort of job or life these two are qualified to have now, but youknow...Marik’s boat probably has jobs available.

Hold up. Can we talk about the windows?

I know absolutely none of you care about this, but I do, not to be picky or condescending to an overworked art team, but because I just want to know what they were trying to aim for.

There’s an iron stained glass style windowpane thing going on and that’s what’s really getting me. Like...I know these guys were technologically advanced, but why did you use this WW2 background? What happened to Ancient Greece that you were doing before?

Like doing a super past with future tech is so cool to me--I love that sort of concept art. That’s going into like Black Panther stuff where you’re referencing the earliest stuff in Africa and then blending it with stuff beyond our science. But Atlantis is a real big shrug and a “listen we ran out of time and had to press print,” and it’s such a shame. It feels less cohesive than even when this show does Egypt.

And yo this show and how it draws ancient Egypt--I feel like I’ve already talked about that. I have a feeling I’m going to talk a lot more about it next season. I’ll get to it when we get to it. I’m hoping that they have more time and budget to actually DO Egypt for once. (I say knowing they won’t)

Like it’s one of those things where this isn’t a history show, like at all, and it’s very much a fantasy. I’m not going to be like those sewing people on youtube that get annoyed because their TV show doesn’t have handsewn stitching in their Victorian bodices they rented from the costume department from an LA discount warehouse. Because, yo, it’s TV, and I can stretch my own imagination because it’s acting. (although I confess, I watch every single one of those videos).

But...the potential, y’all...the potential.

Anyway, Dartz isn’t dead. He was just taking his toot sweet time getting down the steps of his Gazebo.

This is where things get very anime. I get this problem a lot with anime, I really do--and maybe it’s just me. But like...sometimes it feels like anime changes the rules during the boss fight.

That happens a lot, right? Where suddenly the final boss reveals something that like...should have been addressed way earlier? And he’s alive but you don’t get why?

Anyway, Pharaoh reacts by getting maybe way too attached to his newfound independence.

Which like...I can understand Tea forgetting that Yugi is one people that is two people all the time, but the writers as well?

And what’s kind of great about this scene is that Dartz does see Yugi as two people here. He doesn’t look at Yugi, he looks at both. When Pharaoh is like “Leave me, Yugi!” Dartz heard all of that.

Just kind of a neat thing that we finally have a dude that can just...see Pharaoh for what he is, but it probably won’t matter because there’s like only one more episode left of this season.

Anyway, Pharaoh and Dartz have a chat about where evil comes from...and like...it’s some Yugioh lore, all right.

So before the show decides to give us the Genesis on Yugioh and reveal where the evil of the Orichalcos comes from, or if all evil was created by Orichalcos itself (which is IMPLYING stuff about Orichalcos) the snake shuts him the hell up.

As it should. Leave that Pandora’s box freakin closed. That’s going into extended universe of Star Wars books territory (RIP.)

As an aside--pretty sure that Yugi is standing outside that tornado. Maybe it was just the editing of the episode but like...

Yo I’m pretty sure Yugi is just standing there. For the first time, it’s not his nuts getting roasted. Wow. Tables have turned so much since he was dead.

The Morning After

I am so fucking sorry, I didn’t think it would take over 3 months (??wtf, what happened to January and February??) but here you guys go!🤧 Also, I’m dedicating this chapter to @eisukevint and @i-loves-2dguys​, you guys stuck through so thanks! Chapter V: A Cup of Tea and Coffee

Bright flames reflected off his face, but he didn’t feel the smothering heat. Screams of both men and women alike were heard throughout the night sky, a chill blowing through the dense woods. He watched the destruction happen, unmoved by the howling shrieks and the smell of burning flesh.

‘Another dream then.’ He thought, still feeling nothing as he looked on. The fire still blazing on, black smoke rising high in the air, almost obstructing the sky and its stars. The shrill screaming slowly coming to a halt and he turned his back towards it, walking into the woods. 

He glanced around as he steadily walked forward, knowing this particular forest held secrets and dangers, waiting for something to throw itself at him. 

He didn't have to wait long. 

He heard a snarl before feeling a heavy weight on top of him, white teeth flashing towards his face, saliva dripping down its muzzle. Grabbing the wolf's neck, he held it back, trying to keep its teeth away from his vulnerable neck. Kicking his feet to its chest, he threw the wolf off of him, quickly standing. 

What he didn't expect was another wolf bearing down on him as it landed on his back. 

The wolf lunged for his neck as he- 

A gasp tore from his mouth as Hunter shot awake, a hand coming to clasp the nape of his neck. He could almost feel the tearing of his flesh, the heavy blood flow that should have been there.

There was nothing.

Slowly, his breathing became steady, feeling no sensation of pain or blood. His trembling hands slowly came to a halt and he closed his eyes before falling backwards onto his bed.

‘Fuckin’ hell. Not this bullshit again.’

Nightmares like these weren’t strange to him, just unwelcomed, as they came and went, sometimes ruining mornings for him.

Like now.

Reaching towards the hotel’s bedside table, he grabbed his phone and checked the time.

11:07

With a grimace, he got up and began to undress, planning to take a shower as a start for today. Walking up towards the bathroom, he began to play with the shower’s dials and found the perfect temperature. Tugging off his black boxers, he jumped in and began to wash himself from yesterday and this morning’s grime.

Running the towel through his chocolate brown hair one more time, Hunter threw it into the hamper, knowing that the maids would be here to pick up the dirty laundry and clean the room once he was gone for the day. Letting go of the towel around his waist, he began to dress, hoping to leave the hotel and find somewhere to relax.

‘Maybe a restaurant? Nah, too loud. The park? Too many people and it’ll be hot. A cafe then? Maybe somewhere far-’ Hunter continued to think as he put on a white dress shirt before putting on a black crewneck sweatshirt. Wiggling into black skinny jeans, he placed on some converse and as he was picking up his phone, he noticed a text sent from his sister.

Hunt! You’re probably still sleeping or IDK but! Wanted to tell you that Cooner and I are out for today. We’ll see you later on tonight! K, bye love you!

Smiling a bit, Hunter put his phone away and began to walk towards the door, not before grabbing his wallet and a notepad with a pen. Stuffing the items into a shoulder bag, he began to arrive at the elevator and as he waited, Hunter took out a coin and tossed it into the air. Before it could land on the floor, he snatched it from the air and slammed it into the back of his hand.

‘Heads means I go right. Tails means left.’

Just as the elevator arrived, he uncovered the coin and his decision was made. Walking into the elevator, he pressed for the lobby and the elevator doors closed.

‘Rogue Titan Cafe? Gotta say, that’s kind of- it’s cute in its own little weird kind of way.’

Looking at the sign once more, he shrugged and walked in. He was met with a swirl of teal, gray, and some gold touches here and there. It wasn’t overwhelming like the other cafes he’s visited before now and more importantly, it was quiet and not crowded. Stepping up to the register, he pulled out his notepad and pen. He was then greeted by a male, although shorter than him, who had a commanding aura surrounding him, hinting at power he had in him. Bored slanted eyes filled with a mixture of gray and cobalt blue met his eyes and the shorter male spoke. 

“Good afternoon. What would you like?”

Looking up to the blackboard menu, he quickly wrote down his order and placed it in view of the worker.

Warm butter croissant + a cup of chamomile tea please

With a raised brow, the worker put down his order and told him his amount. Fishing out the correct payment, Hunter gave it to the worker and proceeded to take a seat near the windows and waited for his order. Pulling out his phone, he checked the time before putting it away, and looked towards the windows. Watching people was interesting at times, something which Hunter didn’t do often unless it was necessary, but as of now, it was the only interesting thing to do. Placing the notepad in front of him on the table, he just watched as crowds of people walked by, not paying him any mind as they went on their day. Hearing a clatter besides him, he saw the shorter man set down his order onto the table, before leaving, nodding at Hunter once, who nodded back. Blowing before taking a sip, Hunter hummed a little at the mixture of apple and honey taste. Looking out towards the window again, he saw a slick limousine drive past the cafe, before disregarding it as anything important. Picking up the warm croissant, he took a bite and hummed again. The cafe door swung open and someone entered just as he was taking another bite. Not paying the other customer any attention, Hunter sipped at his tea again. Hearing the low murmuring, he looked straight at the windows again, until he was interrupted as someone walked towards him and a voice spoke up.

“Good afternoon Hunter.”

Looking up, he was greeted by Eisuke Ichinomiya, dressed in a brown leather jacket and white t-shirt. He looked normal, but still oozed an aurora of being someone big and rich. Someone important. He nodded back in greeting and Eisuke spoke again. 

“May I have a seat?” Ichinomiya asked as he smiled, gesturing at the seat in front of Hunter. He nodded and Ichinomiya sat down. It was quiet for a while as Hunter looked out the window and the man in front of him waited for his drink. The silence was interrupted as the worker gently set down Ichinomiya’s drink, the bitter aroma drifting towards Hunter.

‘Coffee.’ He thought as he turned away from the window and towards the other two men. 

“Will that be all?” The worker asked and both males nodded and Ichinomiya thanked him. He nodded back and left, going back to his station and leaving them. It was quiet again until Ichinomiya spoke up.

“I hope I’m not intruding. I saw you from my car and I wanted to say hello.” He explained in a soft tone of voice, aware of quietness surrounding both of them. Sipping his coffee, he waited for any response as he grimaced slightly from the taste.

Glancing at Ichinomiya, Hunter grasped his notepad and quickly wrote down his response.

No, you're fine. May I ask where you were planning to go? Hunter questioned, wanting to be polite, even though he didn’t like talking. He didn’t dislike Ichinomiya or even consider him an acquaintance, but he would still be considerate and contribute to the conversation. 

“I was planning to go shopping until I saw you from the limo’s window. What are you doing here?”

I wanted to enjoy a warm snack and beverage, just to relax.

“And your siblings? Where are they?”

Hunter shrugged.

Somewhere, probably shopping for stuff for our other siblings.

Ichinomiya smirked before tilting his head towards the window.

“And why were you looking out the window? Something interesting going on out there?”

Hunter blinked at him, before writing down his answer.

It’s interesting to see people and try to guess what they do for a living or what they might be going through. Looking towards Ichinomiya, he quirked an eyebrow. Would you like an example?

Ichinomiya’s smirk grew bigger and he nodded. Both looked towards the window and Hunter scouted his victim. Gazing at each person rushing past the window, he settled on a woman who was dressed rather expensively, showing jewelry and cleavage at the same time. Pointing towards her, he looked back at Ichinomiya and nodded his head towards the lady walking by. He waited until Ichinomiya had a good glimpse of her and as she slowed her pace, Hunter jolted down his observations.

She’s married. She has a white gold wedding ring with three diamond rings. Her spouse is rich, but she constantly cheats on her husband. He doesn’t know. With the way she dresses, she displays herself and likes the attention she gains, especially from the rich and or handsome. She chooses her prey from those categories. Hunter points to a business man across the street who was ogling the female as she stops in front of the window, not paying attention to him. You’re handsome enough to gain her attention though. Ichinomiya’s eyes widened a bit as he read Hunter’s comment. Hunter continued writing. She might like you enough to come in. She probably has prior commitments though. As Hunter finished writing, the woman looked towards them, but zeroed in on Ichinomiya and she smirked as she walked away, swaying her hips. The two were quiet as Ichinomiya blinked a couple of times, before smirking again. 

“How do you know she’s cheating? She probably likes the attention, that’s all.”

Sipping his tea, Hunter pointed across the street as he closed his eyes. Following his finger, Ichinomiya saw the woman lean into a window, which was cracked open slightly and saw her speak to someone, her breast pushed up as she crossed her arms before entering the car and driving off.

“I see.” Eisuke hummed as he looked at Hunter, amazed at how quick was to figure the woman out. “What did you think of me when you first saw me?” He questioned, starting at Hunter who slowly opened his eyes.

Hunter looked at Ichinomiya for a moment, deciding on whether or not he should say what he first thought when he saw him on that morning he was leaving Oh behind, before writing down his answer.

Someone who was stern and important. Had a certain level of self confidence. You’re powerful and you know it. You take what you want and you’re brave.

Hunter stopped writing before taking a bite from his croissant, finishing it after a couple of bits, drinking his tea as Ichinomiya read his comment. He hummed as he looked at Hunter before sipping his own coffee. It was quiet as they both dwelled in silence, Ichinomiya smiling towards Hunter, behind his cup.

Setting it down, Ichinomiya folded his arms on the table as he smirked and looked towards Hunter.

“Would you like to come with me? To shop, of course. I’ve overheard during dinner that your other brothers might want some souvenirs from here. There might be a store that might interest you?” Ichinomiya questioned, seeing Hunter savoring the last bit of his tea. Glancing up, Hunter tilted his head slightly as he looked at him emotionless before looking out the window. Sipping the last of his tea, Hunter looked back at Ichinomiya and nodded, who smiled in response. Getting up, they proceeded to leave, Hunter staying back to clean up after himself and placed a tip on the table before leaving with Ichinomiya.

With Ichinomiya in the lead, Hunter followed him into his limo, the one he saw earlier, and seated himself far enough to be considered more than polite. Putting his notepad onto his lap, he looked towards Ichinomiya who looked as though he was about to speak until he was interrupted by a phone ringing. Apologizing to Hunter, who waved him off, Ichinomiya picked up the call and proceeded to talk business all the way until they almost arrived at what seemed like a parking lot. Ending the call Ichinomiya, with a frown on his face, began to apologize to Hunter.

“I’m sorry about the inconvenience. It won’t happen again.” He sighed as he put away his phone. Waving him off, Hunter started to write in his notepad again.

Don’t worry about it. You’re a businessman, so I understand. Where are we anyways? Hunter asked, looking out the window as the car started to slow down as it came to a stop in front of a large expensive building. A mall that was mostly likely for the rich it seemed. Opening the door, the chauffeur bowed and kept silent as Eisuke exited the vehicle first, followed by Hunter. Looking up towards the building, Hunter kept up with Ichinomiya’s pace as he answered the question.

“This is the Ruby Plaza, a mall I frequent if I’m available and somewhere I thought you might enjoy.” He responded as he smiled towards Hunter who only nodded, expressionless. Entering the building, Ichinomiya took the lead again as Hunters’ eyes wandered as they passed through the grand entrance and finally into the plaza. Stores lined up and displayed expensive goods from clothes to jewelry and other things. People walked by wearing expensive looking clothes and if not that, then they displayed their wealth with the amount of shopping bags they had or the jewelry that sometimes flashed. Walking with Ichinomiya, Hunter watched for any stores of interest that might hold something for his little brothers or sister. Unaware of the man besides him looking at him from the corner of his eye, he looked on and kept pace with Ichinomiya.

I think your story is so great and feminist... the fact that Brienne was allowed to be angry at Jaime and make the choice to fuck Addam and still be the doting mother and a warrior who inspires women (also thank you for no boring Sansa/Brienne friendship). I loved how she said "fuck that" to any of Jaime's weakass explanations and whenever that bitch was like, "are we good? have you forgiven me? can we fuck?" and she just went like "wtf no you're the worst." like YES. It fucking bothered me the way those S8 apologists defended Jaime's "addiction" and liked the offensive disgusting white book scene. FFS LET WOMEN BE ANGRY. LET WOMEN HAVE A STORYLINE THAT ISN'T TIED TO SOME GARBAGE MAN. LET WOMEN SLEEP WITH MEN INSTEAD OF THEIR ASSIGNED LOVE INTERESTS AND LET THEM ENJOY IT TOO. I don't think you should be unhappy with your story! Your story has amazing dialogue and internal thoughts, well-rounded characters, and Brienne of Tarth being awesome. If anything, you were too nice to Jaime by having him be happy and giving him a purpose. You should subvert my expectations, lovely author! Don't have Brienne forgive Jaime and get into a relationship with him! Make her kick him to the curb! Break his heart! Piss on his corpse! Probably JB shippers will be mad at you but I've got your back. The REAL Brienne fans know that Jaime did Brienne so dirty, and no bs addiction or duty can justify that!

Ok that's enough... and WTF why would people think your fic is controversial. IMO we should bully the writers who had Brienne easily forgive Jaime and take him back just like that. Fuck them all. I only respect YOU. You got me into shipping Addam/Bri and also validated my anger. Also I was busy, didn't know you updated your fic. Gonna read it now. Not gonna lie, I'll be a little upset if she chooses Jaime because I thought the glass throwing scene was written to show the tragic end of their relationship and how there's no coming back, but I did want to know your thoughts.

I’ve had a lot of thoughts about why my fic is considered controversial. The subject matter in it really isn’t that “dark” in the traditional fic sense. There’s no rape or major character death, it’s not torture porn or anything. And yet, there was rage about it on Reddit, it was banned from being discussed on Discord, and a BNF decided (very hurtfully, I might add) to call me out on Twitter because she had formed a judgement based solely on my tags. I have also been blocked by numerous people in the fandom that I have never so much as had an interaction with. I’ve also had a LOT of shitty comments and anons here and there from people who seem really angry that I had the temerity to write this fic.

That genuinely surprised me. I knew it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea - what fic is? But there have been times when I have felt like a total pariah and not wanted to interact with other members of the fandom in case they feel the same way. Whatever way you slice it, that’s shitty behaviour.

Largely, when we ship something, particularly when it’s an OTP, we think of that relationship as an ideal. It’s escapism, it’s perfect in ways that our real relationships never can be. I think that’s why, for so many of us, 8.04 was really devastating. Jaime and Brienne are also a ship about acceptance and understanding, of a deep connection that transcends surface impressions - they both see each other for who they really are. That means a LOT to us, I think. I think we all long for that kind of relationship and exploring it in our fandom gives all of us so much happiness. We are in love with their love.

In their portrayal of the JB relationship, D&D ABSOLUTELY got that wrong. I absolutely do not dispute that. I think a LOT of people were angry with me because they confused what I was writing as being supportive of D&D’s take in some way, because I treated it as canon. Some writers were able to paper over the end of the show, dismiss it as bad writing and move on, or write fic where Jaime changes his mind, Brienne forgives him, and then they carry on with what we wanted.

I just couldn’t do that. God knows I tried. But if I had been in Brienne’s position, I absolutely would have been as pissed as fuck about what Jaime did. I don’t accept that he went back for Cersei as a brother, or that Brienne wasn’t crying for herself but only for him and his lost honour. Being dumped HURTS, particularly when you loved someone and thought you had a future, and then he walks out in the middle of the night without saying goodbye. Brienne had SO MUCH backstory about being hurt and humiliated by men, having the first man who loved her, the man she gave her virginity to, treat her that way would fuck her up.

I’m not saying that anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, and I never have. I don’t have the definitive knowledge of these characters, none of us do. I only have my take, my experience, my style.

I just couldn’t write about their relationship as being idyllic and perfect any more. Is it a reflection of who I am as a person and as a writer? That’s certainly been the accusation several dozen times. Maybe. It’s certainly a reflection of how I feel women put up with too much shit from men and are expected to be kind and forgiving in return. I HATE that with a passion. 

Angry women are really controversial. They make people of all genders feel very uncomfortable. Sexually confident women do, too, and I think my story was the perfect storm of those two elements, really. People who want escapism from realistic relationships where people don’t live happily-ever-after really took exception to its very existence.

I don’t hold it against anyone for it not being their cup of tea, or if they disagree with my take. God knows there are kajillions of fics out there that aren’t my bag too. Things I’ve rolled my eyes at, things I’ve fundamentally disagreed with, things I’ve been horrified to read. But not once have I ever felt the need to be a public douchebag about it. I’ve never felt the need to make a writer stop writing.

So thank you so much for taking the time to send me this. It does make a really nice change to get an anon be so positive and affirming to me as a writer!

I really hope that you enjoy the end of the story. And that you will enjoy the reboot in a few weeks where we stick with Brienne’s POV and I turn the volume down on some of the elements that I don’t like about the story myself. Not the rage though, or the Addam banging. That’s staying!
