Okay okay I was on vacation, I missed pretty much everything of the charity stream sucks for me and I was just rewatching Scars Stream on day 1 and the Clumsy Cooking was going on and IS THAT GRIAN PLAYING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS IN THE BACKGROUND

The name Robin in Reverse Robins AU...

...doesn't exist. In mine, at least. You see, Talia used to call Damian her little shrike. The thing is, she did it in Arabic. The problems is that I write this AU in Russian and... In Russian shrike is сорокопут (if the wiktionary doesn't lie, it is pronounced as [sərəkɐˈput]) and it's a.... long ass word. So in the field it's totally useless as codename. And if i just put Shrike in it as Шрайк it sounds not edgy but funny and clumsy. And if you pronounce it fast it kinda sounds as Shrek, and, well, it's not what I want, obviously. Because I don't want vigilante name sounding ridiculous. I mean, more than they all already do. So... Sardu, yes. Or al Sard. I asked my father (who knows Arabic a little, i hope it was enough) to confirm, and, well. Sardu. Al Sard. Or, "as Sardu", "as" instead of "al". الصرد. the "r" not being english sound here. So. The Gotham mostly knows their little carnivous Bird as Shrike (well, some media tried to call him Shadow, hm). (and yes, still Сорокопут in my Russian text) But, well, in most stressful situation, or when Batman needs Damian to calm down, or get attention, or as the last method to stop from doing something (*cough* killing *cough*) he would use Sardu. Сарду. Сард. Not the 'Sardinian language', guys xD sorry for bad english and everything shjskdkdl

Also, Batman didn't fire him. Damian just outgrew his role of Shrike the Gotham's Shadow, violent sidekick of Batman; they were starting to argue a lot, Damian being always angry like he was when he just got to Bruce; and our dumb boy B didn't realize what was the problem. So, no real kdrama, just Damian being pissed because of his father not acknowleging him as equal. Because, you know, in the League by this age (16) he would be already a rightful Hand of the Demon, like his Mother was. And, well, an adult. Lol. So..... He dissapears, leaving only a note with 'freedom' in Arabic (he is his dramatic father's dramatic son, after all), Cass stays home, Bruce doesn't panic because Damian is far too good to easily get in trouble even in anger and alone, but he is, of course, worried. That is, until he finds out that Damian is still talking to Alfred and just ignoring his father. Also Alfred acting rather cold towards Master Bruce, and Bruce is like: "What did i even do wrong?????!!! He left himself, I didn't make him!"

Blüdhaven gains its own Shadow when the Gotham's one dissapears. (Some time ago he heard his father making plans about spreading Bat's influence and his trustworthy allies across the world. But before that, he was talking about trying to clean up Bludhaven. Damian doesn't become a symbol in this city like he was in Gotham. He just continues to silently terrify and catch criminals. He also realizes that without support of the police it's a little harder. Considering that there is no Gordon to fight alongside him, Blüdhaven police department is a nightmare to deal with, more corrupted. Infiltrating as a policeman would make it easier to purify the city, but Damian is not that desperate: he's not going to actually work with people, for god's sake!.. Yet. Also, would Jon Kent a. k. a. Flamebird stop trying to sell him a name Nightwing already?! He's not going to wear a Kryptonian legend just to humor him!..)

Bruce is also a little bitter, even if he doesn't let himself think about it much. Because, well, his partner left him alone. And for what. For Blüdhaven! Unbelievable. What is his son even trying to prove, living in that hole...

But, ah, well. It doesn't matter, because before Damian arrived, Batman kept everything under control, he's strong enough to do it alone, right? Right. If he's not focused enough to work all by himself, trying to get done the same amount of work they used to do together, getting injured more, exhausting himself, it's only his problem. No one else's.

Then why, after all that shit, does Tim Drake still show up at the door with diagrams, graphs, and PowerPoint presentation?

!! hello! this is so sweet, i will forever be happy that people are interested in my stories : ] esp @ this AU in particular! it's definitely been my most favorite one to work with - i've been yelling about it with friends in dms for like, a little under a year now?? it's a big story! lots of backstory and worldbuilding to do! lots of inside jokes to make!

sadly i can't reveal TOO much - not as much as i want to anyway. i mean it took this long for me to even reveal the NAME! but i can offer a little rundown for some newcomers and…oldcomers idfk

this is an AU where rymin are born in modern era: the train crashed in 1986, but the story takes place in 2021

min boarded the train in september 2016 and has been on the train for approx. 5 years - he is 23 by the time the events of the fic start

rymin haven't seen each other since ryan left powell lake, and min presumes ryan went off to pursue their dreams in NYC without him and is probably living it up Rockstar Style and he's very normal about that

ryan is transmasc in this AU, and it'll play a very, Very crucial role in the story + rymin's early dynamic (just comphet things: your parents ship you together and you don't like it!)

min joined the apex, which has disbanded by this time in the story. he didn't Do Crimes though - in fact, his number hasn't changed at all since he woke up in the iceberg car with kez! weird

there's about four (4) different monsters to watch out for. humans not included - kinda

it's a survival/psychological horror (duh) with a focus on codependency, generational/secondhand trauma, perspective, and forgiveness.

you could guess some of these from my playlist, but huge inspirations for the story are silent hill 2, layers of fear, observer (2017), jj macfield and the island of memories, the last of us, and on a semi-lighter note cowboy bebop and that one time a league of legends song came up on my playlist and i couldn't figure out if it was a hero or a villain's song

anyway. chapters 1-2 are all finished (just workin on illustrations w buds rn) and 3 is currently on its second draft! i'll release it probably a week after the final paper trails chapter, which will be HOPEFULLY soon! i've just got some Secret Stuff for it…

so uh yea! keep your eyes peeled! fingers crossed it'll be out either by the end of this month of the beginning of february !

Ah, it's never too late to send me ask questions! -Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels? I adore building out the complicated feelings between Nemesis and Jill. A common interaction is where their minds do this 'mind bleed' between the two where their thoughts blend in this trippy way that reveals them at both their most vulnerable and their deeper thoughts, usually in mid-argument. Every time I do this it feels like a gut punch. I love it where you aren't certain who is speaking anymore, and how because of this thoughts that they wouldn't address normally with each other are forced to be. For example: Jill remembered punching him, screaming at him in her pain, and he sat palms up and looked downwards please let me…let me sleep…please don’t steal my words, you monster! please let me…let me sleep…please, Father, we can’t if we kneel hard enough, will you, will it end This little bit shows the way their thoughts, memories and fears blend with her recalling the first night where she broke down hitting him them sleeping with him, to his own traumatized memory bubbling, her confused thinking he was making her remember a bad thing he did to her to then realize he was referring to himself packing so much in so little. It's like writing little nuggets of character/lore building and pain that at times is soul crushing to me (which tells me I did it right). -Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride? I'd say my main one On a Devil's Wings is because you get a complete deconstruction of the whole Devil's Saga storyline, with both Jill and Nemesis deconstructed as characters, their motivations and internal selves broken down revealing so much unchecked baggage both from themselves and towards each other.

You also get: 4+ overlapping storylines including backstory conspiracies involving the BSAA, Umbrella and society at large explanation on what makes up a NE-T Tyrant biologically (and Sia) filling RE3/5 plot holes Ada and Carlos just being hot Zeus. Just Zeus. A lot of 4th wall riding/surrealism A situation happens at a rave. I am not kidding.

It's my most ambitious story ever and is a genuine novel in how dense it is plotwise.

-Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately? I am an intensely musical person (guess the times my word rhyming and alliteration goes into interesting 'patterns' lol) and am known for nearly always having a music rec linked in each fic. Lately, I've had this on loop

This gives me Jill vibes in her rise from the murky fall of her own fears and in demanding Nemesis to truly accept the role he keeps saying he wants with her and yet never fully submits to. I also have GODS by League of Legends and NewJeans on sometimes. I just like LoL music lately okay I don't even play LoL XD

-Who is your favorite character to write? Hands down, Nemesis with Zeus a very close second. He's such a complicated traumatized monsterboy who painfully knows he is a tool and is so deeply angry at knowing that fact. While he keeps trying in ways to rebel finds every attempt - refusal to cooperate, sinking into his role as a ruthless killer letting black hate and rage guide him, to trying so hard to have his 'happy ending' at Jill's expense - painfully futile. Writing him trying to cope with all this on top of him trying to understand what intimacy (and no, sex does not inherently equal intimacy) is through a nonhuman filter is such a fun mindset to play with. -Would you please share a snippet of a wip? Sure! Snip from OaDWs: “Seeing that my deceased co-conspirator had done work with live humans before, but he never thought to slow down the infestation rates in his subjects to engender a better bonding process. The idea I admittedly gleaned from that detestable Ashford woman; sometimes a bit of time to let an introduced vector rest in one’s subject is warranted. You Jillian made that a possibility even though you had the added protection of prior infestation. “I wanted to see if I could expand on previous work…yet your sample didn’t seem all that operational at the time. Not until ‘patient zero’ awoke. It’s almost as if your suitor put himself on pause for you as your DNA caught up to his parameters! What a kindly gent. Favourite colour: This is a tough one because it all just depends on context so much. I'd say typically I veer more towards darker tones in general: really like a nice dark green, or a dark red or crimson. Purple is lovely too :D

Last movie: 9. A bit of a strange one perhaps, but an interesting take on a post-apocalyptic world brought to life in a style that reminds me of Tim Burton a little bit. Basically, the world has been destroyed in a war between humans and machines, and we're introduced to a group of sentient dolls, each with a number on their backs from 1 to 9, who have had to survive in this strange new world while figuring out why they were made in the first place. I don't wanna spoil this for anyone who hasn't seen it, so I'll leave it at that :)

Currently watching: I'm in-between series atm haha. Waiting for season 4 of the Boys, and just finished watching season 2 of 30 Coins. Might just do a rewatch of Andor or the Punisher to fill this void.

Other stuff I watched this year: Err… from what I remember (and yes, since we're only in January, I'm counting 2023 into this as well) I'd say Moon Knight, Andor, 30 coins, a rewatch of Supernatural (up to season 12), and the One Piece live action series. Out of all these Andor was perhaps my favourite, but I enjoyed all of them, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the One Piece adaptation remained loyal to the original works :D they obviously had to adjust some things but it still felt true to form. With Andor, I was hesitant to watch it at first because the last SW series I had watched had been declining in quality (weird writing, etc), however… Andor completely blew me away. The way it builds up to the climax was just so well done, the writing is superb, music fantastic, and it's one of those series I wish I could forget about completely so I could experience it for the first time again.

Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: I haven't watched many series I've not finished since I usually watch them to the end anyway, but looks like that new Percy Jackson series may unfortunately fall into this category?

Currently reading: I've been powering through the Harry Potter books. Started during the Christams holidays and I'm now on book 6. So far so good, though I've had to slow down with holidays being over. Might need to reread the Robert Langdon series as well after this as it's still one of my personal favourites.

Currently listening to: This changes daily but I do find myself drifting back to Riot music very often. So, that's music made for League of Legends, Valorant, etc. Not the soundtracks, but songs like Worlds anthems like "GODS" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3GouGa0noM) and 2021's "Burn It All Down" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z6CHioIn3s). I also absolutely love "Breathe" from the official launch video for Legends of Runeterra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNhKAJwlj04). I also like this vid for it heavily featuring Darius, the only champ I ever played when I attempted to get into LoL before the toxicity got to me and I decided it's not for me :3 (didn't take long, but left me with a bit of a soft spot for him lmao)

I absolutely do not play any of these games but man… the music is on point imo. Something again about chord progression, don't ask what my obsession with that is lmao.

Overall, I'm just upskilling in the hopes of eventually landing a job as a full-stack developer. NO LUCK SO FAR aside a couple freelance frontend opportunities :/

Current obsession: Hmm….. good question. I'd say, despite me not playing it as much as I used to, I am slowly getting back to Elder Scrolls Online? Fire Emblem Fates is another, as well as Bleach.

-He was bullied as a kid. (I can almost guarantee it)

-It wasn't uncommon for him to talk his dad's ears off about the latest shows.

-Buster was actually a nifty little theif as a kid when he needed to be, but he'd never tell you.

-He used to be in a rock band. 

-He tried to play baseball as a kid, but the mitts and baseball bat were way too big. Not to mention a ball speeding towards him would end with him getting really hurt... so yeah, he didn't get very far in his baseball career XD

-He still has nightmares of Crystal :(

-Him and Nooshy do things that are most likely mildly illegal.

-Nooshy and Ash taught him to be a hacker, even if he doesn't use the skill often apart from when he forgets his password... which happens a lot.

-Buster's original password was 'theater' but everyone guessed it on the first try and he had to change it. Now it is Yuri Dorfenboop. Foolproof. 

-Hehas a huge playlist, of many artists and genres. 

-Ash introduced him to her music (the Skunkdolls poster in her apartment in the first movie. Second movie, we ssee Buster has a Skunkdolls album.)

-He re-made his show War of Attrition when he managed to salvage the poster for it. That's why you see/hear about it in both movies even with the flood and fall of the original theater.

-He redid a ton of his shows.

-He sings when he's by himself

-He CAN play piano, but his mind wonders so much he switches songs and artist frequently without noticing every few minutes. By the end, he'll be freestyling. 

-Buster was once mistaken for a performer at Rick's Club when he ran onstage to help out Ash. He had a microphone shoved in his paws and had no choice but to sing. He sang Pheonix by League of Legends. The crowd went wild. Buster vowed to never perform in front of a crowd again, which he had to break when he was forced to play in a show for Angus Chrome. 

-He can also play the trumpet, and it's hilarious because it's way bigger than he is. 

-He falls off of the ladder a lot. 

-The crew caught him creating Daleonaise (mayonaise mixed with Dale's sauce) and tasting it.

-He has a fear of needles. 

-He can't pronounce Worceshire. Neither can I. We call it Woostashoosh. 

-He has memorized over one hundred actors. 

-He secretly kinda likes Rosita. (My comfort character. I like this. Sue me.)

-When he's nervous, his ears twitch as well as his nose and it's adorable.

-He makes weird faces when he's concentrating. 

-The color of blue of his eyes changes depending on the light. 

-He taps things absentmindedly with a claw when he's being bothered by something/someone.

-No one knows Buster's habits as well as Eddie Noodleman

-In college, Eddie would help out Buster with the bullies when he needed to (the bullies wouldn't hurt or mess with Eddie because his parents were rich and their lives would be over if they did) and in return Buster would help Eddie with school and play videogames with him.

-Buster was poor as a kid, too, so he didn't always have all the school books he needed so he would take notes by writing on his hands when necessary.

-He stills writes info on his hands when he needs to.

-Rosita acts like Buster's mom a lot.

-Clay still teases Buster about the water tap thing. 

-Buster met Mizuki because the gazelle wanted to figure out who showed up in her pictures of the couple in the first movie when Buster photobombed on his bike. 

-Buster dapples in photography and is a very good artist when it comes to drawing.

One of the plans for the DCAU going forward if batman beyond had gotten a fourth season was that the eventual successor of Darkseid after his permanent death in Destroyer, would be the son of Superman, fathered by one of Darkseid's female furies during the period he was brainwashed into Darkseid's loyal soldier at the end of STAS.

Given this would be a very clear cut case of rape, how do you think the dcau crew would have handled it withouth the censors butchering the idea? Do you think it's a good idea for a story, or is it a good thing it never actually was put to screen?

I've been vaguely aware of this, but never knew the full details or the source. I tried to find where it originated or if there is more info out there, and while Brian Cronin's articles are usually good with crediting that kind of thing, his 'Legends Revealed' article on the subject doesn't attribute the details to anything. Further searching proved fruitless for me.

Anyway, I'm not sure it's as clear-cut a case of rape in the perception of most people in the 90's and early 00's as we might hope. Superman is brainwashed in that storyline and can't consent -- and never would in his right mind -- but since it's not violent, I tend to think a lot of people would have just ignored or been ignorant of the ickier side of the situation. And that could happen both with the storytellers and the audience.

I'm also wondering how detailed the story would get about the Illegitimate Superson. Batman Beyond got away with a lot of surprising violence (at least, I was surprised) for being a Saturday Morning Cartoon, but usually the sexy stuff was only vaguely implied. I wonder if the story would have really talked around it. Perhaps Lashina would simply say that the invader "has his father's strength" and only make oblique references to Superman's time living on Apokolips. The DCAU creative team was usually very good at working around the censors, so I can see them coming up with a way of making it clear to people familiar with the Legacy storyline what's going on, while taking advantage of the fact that it was in a completely different series to get away with maybe leaving uninformed audiences with the impression that Superman was for a time happily married to Lashina on Apokolips. XD

**SPOILERS FOR BATMAN BEYOND AND JLU SEASON 2**

Of course, we also have that 'Epilogue' episode of Justice League Unlimited, where it's revealed that Terry is a test-tube baby made with Bruce Wayne's DNA, genetically making Bruce his father. I can easily see the idea of an Illegitimate Superson being turned into something like that, or both ideas can be combined so that the visuals could focus on Superson's being enhanced or altered in Apokoliptian cloning cylinders, while the dialogue only obliquely hints that the child was conceived in the traditional way.

But even aside from the squicky nature of the story, I can't help noticing that this would be the second Batman Beyond adventure involving Superman being brainwashed. Given the lack of confirmation we have of these details, I wonder if perhaps it was an idea being batted around at the same time the third season's Justice League story, and some of the ideas were repurposed while in a not-quite-fully-formed state. If the creative team had eventually brought Superman back for an appearance in a fourth season, perhaps it would have been a vastly different story.

As far as whether this idea should have been made into a real story, I personally lean against it. I don't really see Terry's Batman fitting well into a big Apokolips Invasion story, especially one where the villain is personally significant only to Superman. It feels more like a Justice League story, not a Batman story. So since it's not providing anything to Batman Beyond, the touchy subject matter seems to me like it's demanding far too much for what it's accomplishing.

And even if we do have a Justice League Beyond or Superman series where it would fit better, I'm honestly not sure it's doing a whole lot for Superman, either. It's angsty and shocking and transgressive and references a famous previous storyline, but how exactly would this challenge Superman? He doesn't know this kid and he didn't make any choices that contributed to the situation. I'm sure he'd want to do right by the kid anyway, but is that really a lot different from any other storyline where he's opposing someone he doesn't want to hurt? It's higher stakes, but it's essentially the same dynamic as when he's fighting Bizarro. Sure, it's possible to really explore how violated this makes Superman feel, but is a superhero story the place to deal with that kind of subject matter? It could very easily get into insensitive territory if the symbol of Superman's trauma is an offspring who needs to be punched into submission at some point.

I mean, it's possible this could all end up being properly nuanced and so make a great story for a character who doesn't get to delve into this type of thing. And the DCAU storytellers were among the best in their day.

But it just feels a little too fraught, and even it didn't end up as a disaster, I can see it easily just being mediocre and not worth asking so much of the audience.

8. Futurama:

I feel like a fool I did not think of this particular fantastic show. Besides being one of few science fiction I can enjoy so much, the stories, running gags, animation, and especially the characters are so great. Favorite character is so hard as younger me adored Leela, but as I get older it is a tie of her and Kif. I just like show reversed certain expected traits for characters. Leela to muscle while Kif the temped heart. That being said Zoidberg and Nibbler as I oddly relate to. 🤷‍♂️

7. Scooby Doo:

If from the original, to the movies (Witch’s Ghost and Alien Invaders), to newer shows, and a few video games. :D Favorite character is Scooby tied with Shaggy.

6. Non-Disney:

Now this kinda cheating but I adore animated movies, especially hand-drawn movies. I mean dang I am so grateful that certain animated movies gems that I have seen, that it made and I happily if could consider voice acting for a career. However I am also cheating to say a favorite character as he is a comfort character, Thief from The Thief and the Cobbler. This also why this middle of my list as so vague.

5. Allan Moore’s work fandom:

Okay a tie, between a graphic novel and a movie. I am aware Allan Moore well known to despise his work be adapted to film. Graphic novel (even though the movie is a guilty pleasure of mine) is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Movie is V for Vendetta, plus favorite character a three-way tie of Deirich + Evey + Finnich. Yes I meant it alphabetically order. XP

4. Firefly+Serenity:

I am sure this does not surprise anybody? XD Favorite character is hard but it is Inara with Sharped in close second place.

3. The Tenth Kingdom:

I rarely hear anyone talk about this miniseries which is a shame as such a fun show. @airasora I for some reason can see the character Wolf being your favorite character. :D In regards my favorite character, it has to be Virginia.

2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

Yay one of the FEW shows I have actually watched all 7 seasons of (plan to rewatch the movie). XD I am honestly torn between two characters I really like. Especially as both are relatable in info dumping on legends/folklore, plus the few times they work together it is a fun team=Willow and Giles

1. Sense8:

I can not articulate enough how this show deserves more attention and needed more time/episodes. Favorite character has to be my crush Kala. However she is also a favorite character along, Lito x Hernado (I am aware both are cis gay men, but as a bi trans man they are one of few men love men relationships I have felt so relatable to).

0. Mythology:

If I had pick what particular creature that pop culture has used it is obviously the Unicorn. Funny enough I have not watched any of the My Little Pony shows+movies. I just feel too weary it be hard to not be bothered by the fact they are “horses with horns and cute”.

Shadow Lugia-Part Two

Tapu Koko and Ash had chased the organization known as Cipher across Orre. They'd helped the young trainer named Michael take down the organization, with Ash helping rescue the Shadow Pokémon.

In the distance, Michael dealt with Greevil; meanwhile, Tapu Koko dodged a Shadow Blast. While Michael fought the Cipher leader, Tapu Koko and Ash had to deal with a larger threat-one of tarnished wings and murderous hatred.

Ever since his encounter a month ago, Tapu Koko knew that Cipher had a Lugia in their grasp, and had converted it into a Shadow Pokémon. Initially, he'd been more pissed at the fact that the Legend had leveled his Shrine. Only later, after discovering the Shadow process of forcibly closing the hearts of Pokémon in order to force them to become more powerful, had he realized the true horror of what this "Cipher" had done. And with the disappearances of Tapu Bulu and Tapu Fini at the same time Shadow Lugia had attacked, that had led to Ash and Tapu Koko deciding to do some "League Business" and go to Orre themselves to hunt down the members of Cipher.

It hadn't been easy: beyond the fact that Orre was filled with all sorts of criminals, the forces of Cipher had done everything to make sure that the Champion and the Island Guardian. It wasn't that successful, given how Ash and Tapu Koko had made it to Citidark in record time.

But the information they'd gotten had almost halted the dup. The Lugia they'd captured wasn't any Lugia. This shadowy aberration, this mindless killing machine driven only by primal rage and hatred... Was his Lugia. Was his beloved Guardian of the Sea.

“Dad, please!” Ash yelled, desperately trying to reach his father once more. The Shadow Pokémon simply lunged at him in a murderous frenzy; if not for Tapu Koko leaping into action and dragging his son away, Ash would have been torn in half. 

Quickly, Tapu Koko reached out through their bond. He was still linked to the Guardian of Shamouti, linked through their betrothal bond they hadn't severed. Surely, he could reach-

With a cry of pain, Tapu Koko wrenched his mind away from the bond, barely dodging the Shadow Wave that flew towards him.

Lugia, please! It’s me! Tapu Koko cried. Lugia didn’t respond. The next thing Tapu Koko knew, XD-001 hurled itself at the Island Guardian, a dark veil of Shadows cloaking his body.

The Guardian of Alola tried vainly to dodge, but it was too late: the attack struck true. Pain exploded through his body as he felt several bones crack from the Shadow-charged concussive force.

Tapu Koko was beginning to understand what Greevil had been saying about the Shadow Process. This was no longer his Lugia: this was XD-001. The pinnacle of the Shadow process, and Cipher’s greatest weapon.

XD-001 was a mindless force of destruction, a ruthless attack drone kept on a short leash at all times. He'd been turned into the weapon Cipher always desired for their conquests, and followed Greevil's orders no matter what they may be.

Now, XD-001 stood over Tapu Koko, its foot pressing the Tapu into the ground and its crimson eyes blanked out from murderous hatred and an eerie, unnatural emptiness.  Ash's Team had been swept: Koko could see Pikachu sprawled on the floor a few yards away, unconscious but alive. The rest of Ash's team weren't much better-all had been defeated by Cipher's Weapon. He looked back up at XD-001-who leaned down until its head was a single inch from his, and began to charge up a Shadow Blast.

Tapu Koko sighed in defeated resignation: XD-001 was going to kill him, and it would feel nothing. He deserved this, he supposed. He’d done terrible things for the fun of it, and driven the legendary he loved away. That the mindless shell of said Legendary was trying to kill him was rather karmic in his mind.

He closed his eyes, lightning starting to crackle around his body. He pushed away the pain in his whole body, charging up his electricity to its deadly maximum.

I’m so sorry, Lugia. 

If he couldn’t bring Lugia out of this, then he would put him out of his misery.

  "NO!!" Ash cried. In desperation, he pulled out an Ultra Ball Michael had loaned him and threw it at XD-001 with everything he had.

The Ultra Ball made contact- And the Shadowed Legend was sucked in, freeing Tapu Koko and dispersing the Shadow Blast.

Click. The ball stopped shaking as thew Capture was completed.

THUNDER! Tapu Koko roared, his eyes flying open as he unleashed the stored electricity towards the last of Greevil's Pokémon; the Moltres was instantly fried with several thousand volts and passed out. (He'd apologize to Lugia later for hurting one of his Birds.)

Several hours later, after Greevil stepped down, and Ash and Tapu Koko returned to Professor Krane's lab, the Island Guardian was sprawled out in the bed the Professor had provided, wincing under the healing machine.

Do you think we'll be able to save him? Koko asked as the healing machine did its work on him, looking over to his son sitting in the chair next to him.

Ash looked down at the Ultra Ball, which was practically radiating fury. "Yeah." He held it close. "We'll save him. It won't be easy, but we'll get him back."

The Shadow Pokémon within the Ultra Ball, as if hearing Ash's declaration, seemed to bristle, the murderous aura around the ball momentarily spiking.

Pokemon Games Story Tier Ranking

S Tier - Genuinely well-crafted narratives with superb character development and themes.

Apparently the series reaches this peak every other generation. It first happened in Gen V with Black/White, which combined the previous distinct “win badges and enter the Pokemon League to become the Champion” and “Stop the local villainous team from wreaking havoc” plotlines into one epic story about the player character discovering themselves to be a hero of legend destined to fight an opposing hero over the fate of the world. Gen VII brought us Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, two different tellings of the same story that on their own hold some major weaknesses but when combined make for the tale of the most fleshed out region and cast of characters in the game series to date. And now in Gen IX we have Scarlet/Violet, an open world game that allows you to shape the narrative in the way you see fit but with that narrative always being a poignant, fascinating and emotional experience.

A Tier - The narratives can be shaky, but still give you plenty to engage with and think about.

After Diamond/Pearl suffered from too many cooks in the kitchen turning out an undercooked narrative, Platinum fine-tunes everything and produces a compelling story about a cult using the reality of the Sinnoh region’s myths to attempt to destroy and recreate the entire universe, only for the universe to bite back hard. Black 2/White 2′s story was a noticeable step down from its predecessor, but still continued its themes and character development while further expanding the Unova region. Pokemon Masters’ writing is sharp and makes great usage of the franchise’s history. And Legends: Arceus tells a story in a formulaic and repetitive way, but said story is a fun, fascinating and even highly emotional at times one so it all balances out.

B Tier - Nothing groundbreaking, but with something extra from the usual Pokemon fare.

Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness have notably darker, edgier and harder stories than is usual for this franchise as does Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, the three Rangers games show a much different side of the Pokemon world than the usual competitive battling-oriented locales, Conquest is a unique crossover with the Nobunaga’s Ambition tactical series and gave us the series in feudal Japan style long before Legends: Arceus, and Detective Pikachu is an episodic mystery game with a concept and story that was even deemed strong enough to provide the basis for a major Hollywood blockbuster.

C Tier - The usual Pokemon fare. Not the best in the realm of video games, but not the worst.

Gold/Silver/Crystal, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Diamond/Pearl, and all of their remakes qualify here, as do the other Mystery Dungeon games (particularly the originals and their remake; the other two are just pale imitators of the Explorers story). You get a significant degree of plot, character development and themes in all of them, but overall it’s not the main focus.

D Tier - Huh? Plot? Character development? Surely you jest; we’re only here to have fun!

It’s not surprise that the original Red/Blue/Yellow and their remakes: their story is the very definition of Excuse Plot and not shy about being so. Puzzle League, based directly off the anime series, is also given an Excuse Plot, as are the Snap games, particularly the first one. Sword/Shield are a bizarre outlier here: there is technically some plot and some character development going on in this story, but the game does everything in its power to block you off from it at almost every turn, with your gameplay experience being prioritized by force. The only reason it’s not at E Tier is because the postgame and DLC expansions gave it some greater narrative heft, which is certainly more than you can say about the actual E Tier game.

E Tier - This is a bad story and you should feel bad for putting it out in this sorry state.

X/Y’s story is an absolute mess. It doesn’t know whether it wants to be a standard C Tier narrative, a D Tier narrative as a deliberate way to harken back to Gen I, or do something epic and say something significant like an A or S tier narrative. As such, the story is so messily and underwhelmingly presented to us that it doesn’t reach any of those standards. The lack of a Z version to potentially iron everything out the way that Platinum did for Diamond/Pearl hurts it even further. This was the lowest point in the series, narrative-wise.

Favourite Movie: the Lord of the Rings (I know that's more than one but I do love them all so much <3)

Least Favourite Movie: I haven't really thought about it because I don't often dislike a lot of movies I watch?...but the only movie that comes to mind as my least favourite is...Thor: Love and Thunder?? I know that's probably controversial, but even as a major Marvel fan I had a hard time getting through it D:

A Hobby: Definitely drawing/painting! I tried to get into drawing a few months ago but I had a hard time committing to it. But I'd love to revisit it one day :D

Arcane: a friend of mine actually recommended it to me! They love League of Legends and they saw the show and sent me the odd TikTok of Viktor and Silco and were like, "You would love this show. I think you'd love Viktor too!" and...well, here we are XD I now love 6 characters (Viktor, Jayce, Silco, Vander, Marcus (don't hate me), and Sevika) from Arcane so hard that they've taken up space in my head rent free for almost a year XD
