I've always felt that Virgil is the touchiest of the Runaways; he grew up in a loving home with his mom and sister, it seems only natural that there'd by physical affection

He'll throw an arm around your shoulders as you walk together, or hold your hand.. little kisses as you pass one another or are just hanging out

He gives you gentle hand squeezes to assure you he's okay after missions w/ the team

So two things, first Holy freaking crap your Blue Beetle is just...I'm trying not to swear so I'll borrow from Marvel. Your Jaime is so flarking immaculate. Like Holy flarking scut, I just came across your stuff by accident but d'ast. I haven't seen him drawn that particularly well since the 06 run and New Earth continuity. Second, the way you drew Max Mercury is also really good. Have you ever considered doing that kind of redesign for someone like Tye Longshadow?

I actually did think about Tye before but your ask allowed me to really consider his design and I realized that I really had a soft spot for the Justice League Unlimited version of the character (where he's only named Long Shadow technically but it's basically the same character) but I also loved what they did with his power in Young Justice. So I kinda mixed the Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice concept together.

So, here comes the boy (who, in my headcanons, would be like a big bro figure to Jaime) :

Tye Longshadow w/ a Girlfriend who Suffers from Anxiety

A/N: I obviously have anxiety and it’s pretty recent so yeah comfort headcanons with the BEST BOY

He knows what anxiety is in general, it’s a lot more common nowadays so he’s heard of it but he doesn’t know all the specifics

But he’ll notice you bounce your leg a lot, fidget with your fingers, chew on your lip, stuff like that and he can tell you’re nervous but he doesn’t get that it’s anxiety until you talk to him about it and let him know you have it

He’ll ask any questions he has, he doesn’t want to make you uncomfortable with them but he kinda needs to know this type of thing about you. So like he’ll ask about what your triggers are, stuff that helps you calm down, things like that so he can understand it better and help you out

He’s kinda awkward when it comes to the actual comforting part, but he’s a pro at helping you manage it. Like he’ll actively keep you away from stuff that triggers your episodes, if you seem off he’ll quietly ask you if somethings wrong and if you nod he’ll excuse the two of you so you can calm down somewhere else

If a nice hot drink helps you relax, he’ll happily make it for you. If you need to be alone for a little bit, he can totally do that. If you just need someone to be there, he’ll be silent so you can focus on calming down

If you need something physical, he of course will hold you and such but he’s just a little tense and awkward about it

Okay but doing something with my hands helps me, like doing a really simple puzzle or squeezing a stress ball or petting my cat, so HIM LETTING YOU BRAID HIS HAIR FOR HIM

Fresh air and a calming atmosphere are a really bit help to clear your head too, so he’ll sit out on the porch with you and just enjoy the scenery silently together

If your anxiety attack ever escalates to a panic attack, he’ll be right with you but he’s kind of freaking out a tad himself. He just panics cause he’s not quite sure what to do, but if panic attacks make you throw up (they do for me) then he’ll hold your hair back and rub your back. They also wear you out so much too and I always need a nap afterwards, so he’ll lay with you and text Jaime for some pointers on how to help you

You join the Young Justice team as kind of an act of rebellion

You were getting pissed off because the Avengers wouldn’t listen to you

It’s not like you were powerless, you had abilities

Your father didn’t want you out on the field because you were his little girl and it was dangerous out there

And while you did understand that

It was pissing you off because they wouldn’t listen to you when it came to something as small as what route to take

Just because you were a kid

So, you decided that you’d go to a team where being a kid isn’t a problem

You’re integrated quite quickly since you’re representing the Avengers

When your dad found out though, he was heartbroken

Steve tried to comfort him being like “She needs to leave the nest so she can spread her wings and fly.”

“Shut the hell up, Steve.”

“I’m sorry dad, I just had to do this.”

“I understand, baby doll, just be safe okay?”

“And bring back a batarang or something!”

“Tony!!”

The others are quite jealous that you have such a non-problematic relationship with your dad

You meet Tye through the team and you immediately hit it off

He was very lowkey and cool which was a welcome change from Tony and Thor back in New York

You two spend a lot of time together, even outside of the team

Mostly at the skatepark

Even if you don’t know how to skateboard

“You know how to shoot a gun and steer an airship. But you can’t skateboard?”

“I just don’t understand how you can control where this thing goes just by putting your feet on it.”

He usually teaches you how and definitely teases you about wearing knee pads

“You’ve been through countless fights.”

“And I never scrape my knees thanks to these babies!”

He hears ALOT about your family

Since you’ve never been away from your family for too long

You begin to miss them very quickly

He can tell you’re getting homesick because of the sheer amount that you talk about it

Even when it doesn’t seem related

“You know my dad likes pecan pie.”

“We’re eating quesadillas.”

But you never say that you miss them or are feeling homesick because you don’t want anyone to think you’re a baby

But Tye realizes and wants to do something nice for you

So, he snatches your phone when you’re not paying attention and contacts your dad

And Bucky is only too happy to drop everything and fly over there to see you

“Dad?”

“Hey, baby.”

You totally ran across the room, flying right into your dad’s arms

Good thing he has a metal arm because otherwise the sheer impact would have gotten him flat on his ass

Tye is quietly watching from the side-lines and he’s unknowingly smiling just watching you hug your dad tightly

Even though it’s not the case for him, he knows that you’re really close to your dad

And it makes him happy to see you happy

But he never makes anything of it

Until Jaime literally brings it to his attention

“You literally bent over backwards so her dad would be allowed in here.”

“That’s only because she missed her dad.”

“I miss my mother, too.”

“Then call her for god’s sake, are you that lazy?”

After hearing it from Jaime, Tye becomes a little more aware

And he quickly realizes that he’s falling for you

It kind of freaks him out a bit

So, he gets a little quiet

More than usual

“You sure you’re okay, Tye?”

“Yep, Bueno.”

“Okay....”

You don’t spend a lot of time with Tye that week, opting to stick to your dad and show him around

He isn’t as upset as he thought he would be

And a part of him wants to bring to your attention that he was the one who called your dad so he can get your affection

But ultimately decides against it

But you find out eventually, through your father

“You aren’t going to introduce me to your boyfriend?”

“Who? Tye?”

“Yeah, he was the one who called me over here.”

That day the hug you give Tye nearly knocks him off his feet and he’s blushing but hides his face in your shoulder

“Thank you...”

“No problem.”

The crush becomes embarrassingly obvious after that

But it’s quite obvious that he’s stuck in the friendzone

And everyone around him just cringes every time he tries to tell you how he feels and you just have no idea

“Let’s go on a date to that restaurant.”

“Great idea! Let’s call Jaime too, he wanted to try out the food there.”

“(Y/N), I like you.”

“Cute, but flattery doesn’t work on me, you’re not getting any more of my fries.”

Your dad finds it incredibly amusing

A part of him wants to tell you because it’s downright painful to watch

But another wants to kill Tye for even looking at you

Tye eventually thinks of a good idea

He knows how much you look up to your dad

So, he thinks that taking your dad’s permission before asking you out would probably be a good way to show you that he likes you

But your dad wasn’t born yesterday

“Drop and give me 50.”

“What?”

“You heard me. My daughter isn’t going to date a weakling. I want 50 pushups.”

He can’t even get through 15 of them but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t try

Luckily for him, you get there just in time to see him faceplant onto the ground

“What the heck is he doing?” You ask your dad

“Physical test.”

“For what?”

“Application to be your boyfriend.”

“Oh. OH!”

And your blushing and really very happy because Tye? The guy you’ve been crushing on since you got here? Likes you back?

And he’s just like “I’m sorry did you just say physical test? You mean there’s a written test?”

There isn’t actually a written test

But Tony sends him 300 questions to be finished in 16 minutes just to mess with him

“Who’s (Y/N)’s favourite avenger: A) Tony Stark. B) Iron Man. C) Tony Man. D) Iron Stark.”

Tye is touched-starved and loves affection so you spend a lot of time in each other’s rooms just cuddling

Dates are lowkey but still intimate

And he is possibly the most supportive boyfriend you can find out there

Totally supports you in anything

But offers his true judgement and honest advice when you need to hear it

Since you still miss your dad at time, zoom calls with the three of you are a thing

“Move over Tye, I can’t see my daughter.”

“Whoops, sorry sir.”

In actuality, you were sitting on his lap and Tye pouted when you had to move off it

Tye and Bucky being part of the ‘Amazing hair team.’

“Can I join?”

“No, Clint, your hair sucks.”

Bucky doesn’t give him the traditional dad speech but he does intimidate him every chance he gets

Of course, it doesn’t help that he actually owns and knows how to use multiple guns

Tye thought that meeting the Avengers would actually be normal

He can’t imagine why

Tony kept trying to embarrass you; “Hey, boyfriend! Look at pictures of (Y/N) crying when her dad had to go for a mission.”

Clint was fake-crying; “Oh, my darling baby is all grown up.”

Thor was generally confused but what’s new

Bruce was just in the middle of the chaos, trying to pretend that these are not the people that he works with

Natasha was like; “You’ll name your daughter Natasha, right? You won’t betray me like Clint did?” “I DIDN’T BETRAY YOU; GOD DID!”

And Steve just comes up to him in a pink apron, offering cookies

“Yep, let’s go back now.”

“Good idea.”

Headcanon #2

The Scarab learned Jaime’s full name the night of Ted Kord’s death. His mother was upset that Jaime was out late and yelled his full name as soon as he walked through the door, before starting her rant.

The next day when Tye called Jaime just Jaime, the Scarab suggested Jaime kill Tye for disrespecting his name. Jaime told the Scarab no, but it was a close call.

Do you have any LGBT headcanons for young justice cartoon? I see kaldur and Jaime as bi and Megan as a trans girl.

I would say it would make more sense for Martians who are shape shifters, and speak through telepathy, to not have genders. So I’d say she’s more non binary or genderfluid. 

Any ways, I think Bart is gay, as I think is Tye Longshadow (both got a thing for Jaime) Jaime I’m pretty sure is bi, Kaldur…. a lot of people say he’s bi, but I don’t see it. I mean he’s basically obsessed with a girl that’s like his main personality trait through two seasons, he shows almost no interest in any one else.

I’d say Dick is bi and Wally is, flexible but mostly straight, something happened between them at some point, maybe a sleep over they don’t talk about before YJ happened, maybe a brief relationship between seasons idk. 

Artemis is bi

Roy(Arsenal) hm I’d say he’s gay, but Roy (Red Arrow) is straight, because The Light wanted clone Roy to get into the League as quickly as he could so they made him “more perfect” which could lead to some interesting conflicts between them and for Clone Roy’s self identity.

Gar I feel like will end up being gay, and Static is bi I think everyone else is straight though Zatanna totally has made out with Artemis at some point.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman are both pansexual trans deities.

Hal Jordan is a closeted gay who slowly came out with the help of a bisexual Barry Allen and sapphic Jessica Cruz. Kyle Rayner is similar—Donna Troy, a lesbian, helped him figure things out.

All Martians are genderfluid and demisexual.

Starfire is polysexual and nonbinary.

Roy, Oliver, and Dinah are all bi. Roy and Oliver are the certified Disaster Bis™ and Dinah has their brain cell. Emiko Queen is a lesbian, Mia Dearden is an HIV-positive demigirl, and Connor Hawke is an asexual homoromantic. Their arrows may be straight, but their family sure isn’t.

Ted Kord and Michael Carter are husbands.

All the Atoms are ace and they adopted Billy Batson as their Baby Ace™.

Zatanna is an out and proud lesbian with a side gig as a drag king. Likewise, Constantine is gay and is a drag queen at Z’s shows.

Like I said before, all Kryptonians are pan. I’m also gonna add that Conner Kent is a demiboy who gives gender roles the finger.

Kaldur’ahm, Eduardo Dorado Jr., Natasha Irons, and Traci 13 are all canonically gay/lesbian.

And don’t forget another canon gay: Miguel Barragan. 

Wally is bisexual and Artemis is demisexual. 

Later on, Jai West comes out as bi and Irey West as a chapstick lesbian.

Technically Harley and Ivy are villains/antiheroes, but it’s more than canon at this point that they are girlfriends living it up.

Bart Allen is 100% gay. And, as a future boy, he doesn’t understand gendered clothing and will wear whatever he feels like.

Beast Boy doesn’t ascribe to any labels, saying that “there’s plenty of my lovin’ to go around”. Meanwhile, Raven is demiromantic and is fine with either she/her or they/them pronouns.

Lucy Quinzel is gender-nonconforming.

Cyborg is a demi-guy who goes by he/him or they/them pronouns.

Jaime Reyes had a hard time coming to terms with his bisexuality because of his religious upbringing, but he learned to embrace his identity with a little help from his friends. Also, Khaji Da goes by literally any pronouns.

Katana is a homosexual aromantic.

The Gotham and Central City Rogues are the personification of “be gay, do crime”.

Virgil Hawkins is questioning because he accidentally developed a crush on Tim Drake.

Tye Longshadow also may or may not have a thing for Tim.

Both Jon Kent and Colin Wilkes have a crush on Damian Wayne. Neither made any effort to hide it and yet Damian still hasn’t noticed.

Maya Ducard uses “lesbian” as an umbrella term even though she experiences attraction to all kinds of people.

Throughout their teen years, Milagro Reyes had a hopeless crush on Lian Harper.

Cassie Sandsmark is ace.

Tye Longshadow:

He thinks your brother is actually really cool, a little extreme sometimes, but Tye can totally understand why.

Roy is also pretty cool with Tye, mostly because he thinks he’s a chill kid, and will offer to kill Maurice for him.

“Wait, you can do that?” Tye asked, as if he was actually considering it.

“Yeah, hell, I’ll even let you shoot the rocket launcher!” Your brother offered.

You’re going to have be pretty alert whenever Roy is around because he might be a bad influence on Tye.

Eduardo Dorado Jr:

Okay but your brother is actually really cool, like yeah, he can be insane but he’s actually really cool.

Ed feels a little bad for you two, after all, you grew up with a clone of your brother for most of your life and you’re just now reconnecting with the real Roy Harper.

Roy only remembers the things that you liked back when you were a kid so if he needs help, Ed would be more than happy to tell him what he should do to get closer to you.

He gets that rebuilding a relationship with someone you haven’t seen for a long time is hard but he and his dad made it work and he wants to make it work for you and Roy.

That and he’s hoping that’ll keep him on your brother’s good side. 

Virgil Hawkins:

Okay, first off, he is so confused about how the whole cloning thing works but he can quickly tell by the glare that you and Roy are giving him that it’s a touchy subject.

He sees the family resemblance when you guys glare at him.

Roy gets that Virgil is just a kid and all but he will gently remind him that that will not stop him from hunting him down to then ends of the earth if he hurts you.

Other than that, he and Virgil are pretty cool.

One time you walked into Virgil attempting to give Roy’s robot arm a boost with his powers and you knew it was going to end badly. 4 minutes later, something exploded in the lawn.

This is really late, and isn’t very good, but I drew this for Day 4 of bluepulse week (Pride), and never got around to posting it. I’m not used to doing digital art, so this was drawn and colored on paper. It’s not very good, but I figured since I put the effort into it, I might as well share it, in case anyone does get a little enjoyment out of it.

Coming from a hotter, drier area, he probably doesn't notice at first

Thinks it might just be humid

But as soon as you start sneezing from all the pollen..

(in Japan it's typically considered impolite to acknowledge a sneeze, but after a few times, she'd say something. Iirc blowing your nose esp around other people is gross & impolite, too.)

10+ headcanons thing for Tye Longshadow?

1) Tye Longshadow's favorite superhero was always Wonder Woman, until it became Blue Beetle.2) He helped Asami study when she moved in with him. This made his GPA go way up as well. (It helped that Maurice wasn't around)3) His relationship with his mom is still very fragile. He's grown too used to being independent and taking care of himself to take orders from her, and that's assuming Shelly feels comfortable with her judgement.4) Tye showing up at the Reyes household for holidays is not uncommon. As such, he's considered part of the family.5) I think this is common, but Tye's dog tags were his father's. His dad is dead6) Tye is the person who steals fries from other's plates.7) Tye is also a thrifty cook. He can make delicious things from minimal ingredients8) He is multilingual, thanks to his grandfather and community. 9) He always wanted a little sibling, but was terrified of what would happen if his mom had one with Maurice.10) He totally uses his powers instead of a ladder when he gets the hang of them

The group was already incredibly close because of the shared trauma, even if everyone showed their emotions differently

Some of you just happened to get closer than others

Powers or no; you had a metagene

And Tye'd be damned if the Reach got their hands on you again

He carried you from place to place, astral form or no. He just wanted to make sure you stayed safe

Now that that's out of the way

You guys have quite a bit of downtime

All you really do is run errands for Luthor and destroy Reach property n adverts 🤷🏽

So wherever you're at, there's a lot of free time

Ofc you and your boyfriend want to spend as much time together as possible

Even if you're both just doing your own thing next to each other

He likes watching you draw

Sometimes he asks you to draw on him

And SOMETIMES that leads to 'projects' like this..

Tye mumbled beneath you, tensing slightly as your pan ran over his spine. You ignored the movement, staying focused on the task at hand.

You sat on your heels at his tailbone, one leg on each side of his torso. Two reference pictures were pulled up on the shared laptop, sat next to his head; an aster (almost a blue-purple daisy) and a faceted sapphire crystal.

He sighed softly as you repeated the motion, running over the facets of the sapphire in the middle of the flower's petals. Running the pen back and forth, you darkened the faces of the crystal where it would be sat into the aster.

Running a hand down his shoulder blade, you smiled as he relaxed with your touch; practically melting into the bed beneath him as you continued your linework with the distraction. Tapping your fingers against his ribs, you ran the pen over the same area on the other side of his back, laying your palm flat and almost petting his side when he tensed again.
