new enemy type
Hii out there,
I'm currently working on my game "Ito" and added the firts enemy. I've drawn the art and now i'm programming the ai. It should do some magic stuff, cause of the wand yk, have you any ideas for attacks?

And now for a fully composited and colored piece of animation! My final for my 2D paperless class, and I’m so happy I could animate this little hidden gem from AC unity!! Figuring out the rain particles and droplets hitting the surfaces I need was really tough initially but it’s a good start, and I wanna get more into complex compositing eventually beyond the work I’ve done for my thesis, as well as actually animate more acting or action scenes that aren’t waist up. Started this semester’s class with Arno, figured it’d be nice to end it with Arno!

A Fic Writer's Guide to the 1967 Impala
Part 1: Exterior | Part 2

The given dimensions for the four-door hardtop Impala are 213.2 inches long (17.6 feet, 5.4 meters), 79.9 inches wide (6.6 feet, 2 meters), and around 55 inches tall (4.5 feet, 1.4 meters). Its wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear axles) is just shy of 10 feet. For comparison, the Impala is about three feet longer than a modern Toyota Corolla with a 1.5 foot longer wheelbase, but the same width and height. Fully loaded, it weighs easily over 2 tons and rides low to the ground. Baby is big.


Baby is a “hardtop” Impala rather than the sedan. This means it does not have a support post between the front and rear windows. The bit of trim/seal between them is part of the rear window and retracts with it when the window is rolled down. The exterior color is Tuxedo Black, and this color is still available today. It has a faint metallic finish to it due to small suspended glass particles that catch the light.
The original plates are Sedgwick County, Kansas front and rear plates with the number KAZ 2Y5 (referencing Kansas and 2005, the year the show started). After 2.19, they switch to Ohio front and rear plates with the number CNK 80Q3. When John first buys the car in 1973 in 4.03, it has a vintage rear Kansas plate with the number RPC 45P4. In 4.13 and 11.08 flashbacks to 1992 and 1997, the front and rear plates are Kansas BQN 9R3. In the djinn dream in 2.20, both plates are Kansas RMD 5H2.
The Impala has a circular driver’s side mirror, but no passenger side mirror. Between 1.01 and 3.09, it also features adjustable spotlights/searchlights on both sides. It also has two-speed chrome windshield wipers, an antennae on the front passenger’s side, and bumper guards on the front and back bumpers.


Up through episode 3.09, the Impala has chrome aftermarket Unity spotlights mounted on both sides. Mounting instructions and a up-close view of these on a fan replica can be seen here. Note that Baby's spotlights have black handles with a thin red stripe. Turn the handle to turn the spotlight's base (up/down), and twist the handle to turn and aim the light (left/right). There is a small switch under the half-sphere part of the handle that locks the light's position.
Baby's wipers have chrome arms and have two speeds, low and high. The doors feature mounted door handles with opening buttons just below them. You push in these buttons to open the door instead of pulling on the handle itself. If locking the door by pressing the door lock button on the window sill, these buttons need to be held down while closing the doors so as not to hit the physical locking mechanism.


Unique to the 1967 are these cage-style corner lamps. They are completely absent on the '66 and different on the '68. The headlights are controlled by a knob on the dash and a high beam button down in the floorboard (pushed with your foot). These come on when the parking lights are turned on. Of the two inner circular lights, the outer one is the low beam and has a low and high filament. The inner circular light is the high beam only and comes on when the floor switch is pressed. The rear lights feature the outer turn signal, center tail lights, and inner brake lights (see below).

To the best of my knowledge, Baby has 15x7 (15" diameter, 7" width) chrome steel wheels in the front and 15x8 in the back. This particular style is currently discontinued but was sold through a variety of brands under different names. The brand Cragar refers to this style as the "Super Spoke."
Outside of the in-universe book series’ fandom, four door Impalas are not sought-after or particularly “cool” classic cars. The Impala was marketed as a mid-luxury “family” car rather than something sporty or muscle-y. Other classic car buffs that Dean comes across might appreciate the way Dean has maintained the Impala for a daily driver, but not compared to a show car. They may also find the Impala underrated, but it is not a typical "dream car" the way a classic Camaro or Chevelle might be.
Without Dean, Baby would have likely ended up used for parts for other more desirable cars. This generation of Impalas is also virtually identical to other Chevrolets like Caprices and Bel Airs. Since Baby is debadged except for the “Chevrolet” on the grill, anyone who recognizes it as an Impala would be a massive nerd.
Just like Dean.

KARL PRIBRAM, in his research, realized that memories were not localized to any specific brain region, and, inspired by the holography concept, began to explore how the brain processes and stores information, leading to the holonomic brain theory.
the brain has FOURIER-LIKE PROCESSING, rendering information using wave interference patterns.
╰╼ a fourier transform is a math construct that takes complex signals (like sound waves) and breaks them down into simpler parts (like individual notes). your brain is doing this with information all the time, i.e;
— you suddenly remember a song you haven’t heard in years.
— a childhood memory pops up randomly.
— people with brain injuries sometimes recall after amnesia, or even access entirely new skills and epigenetic memory.
in these moments, your brain isn't like a hard drive storing data in little compartments—it’s more like a receiver, tuning into a bigger field of information.
and if that’s the case, is your brain creating consciousness, or is consciousness something bigger that your brain is just accessing?
other theories state that consciousness is a fundamental aspect of the universe, with the brain acting as a receiver or filter, it's the blueprint that allows the brain to do what it does, or even better, a physicalized avatar of consciousness, the same as the body and the world.
²˙𖦹 *∴ A HOLOGRAM REALITY
In the 1980s, DAVID BOHM thought mainstream quantum physics was missing something. dissatisfied with conventional copenhagen interpretations of his time, he proposed that reality itself is a projection from a deeper, invisible order—like a video game rendering a 3D world from 2D code.
consider: you think about someone, and they text you. you think of a number or an animal, then you see them everywhere, you convince yourself so thoroughly that you'll fail your driving test, and do so spectacularly awful it feels prophetic.
coincidence? maybe. or maybe your brain is tuning into a frequency—filtering reality based on what you’re focusing on—just like the sims 4—where the game only loads what you’re looking at.
physics states that particles remain connected even when they’re light-years apart. this is called nonlocality; everything in reality is deeply connected.
in bohm’s holistic view; these connections undeniably imply an “unknown and undescribable totality” which he calls the “holomovement,” which is the fundamental ground of all matter or; implicate order, which our observable reality, aka explicate order, comes from.
even black holes are theorized to store reality on their horizion surface, like a hologram—so what if the whole universe does the same? if our reality unfolds from a largely unseeable, unknownable infinity, it's right to call it a projection.
³ ˙𖦹 *∴ TIME, SPACE, MATTER
if reality is really holographic, then time, space, and matter are illusions emerging from a deeper level of unity.
we've already connected non-locality with space, so what about the other two? in quantum physics, TIME doesn’t always flow the way we think it does.
entangled particles not only connect to each other, they can also act on each other across what appears to be impossible distances in no time at all.
time dilation (proven by EINSTEIN) shows that time slows down near the speed of light, shows that time is relative.
even in daily life, time feels different depending on what you're doing (boring class vs. fun weekend). that's why we have calendars, watches, units and systems to measure something that, otherwise, doesn't exist unless we're paying attention to it.
as a matter of fact, ‘time’ seems to happen without time. the projection we watch (our observable universe) still follows its own internal “script” that includes processes like aging and cellular decay. even if you don't know time, you know progress, because you expect it.
okay. what about MATTER? when we look at the world around us, everything seems solid, right? your phone, your chair, your body—all solid objects. but at the smallest scales, where they become particles, collectives of atoms participating in unison, none of these things behave the way we think they do.
even stranger—particles (like electrons or light) can either act like solid little particles (like a tiny ball) or like waves (like ripples in the water), when we observe them closely. they “choose” to behave as particles.
this means at the most basic level, matter isn’t really “stuff”—it’s more like potential until we observe it. it’s only when we look that it “decides” to act like a solid thing.
⁴ ˙𖦹 *∴ SHIFTING W/ HOLOGRAPHIC MODEL
if we take the holographic universe theory seriously, reality is a hologram, then your consciousness is the projector. shifting should be as simple as changing the film running in that projector, right?
yes. and you've shifted so many times! it's just that the more you ‘try’ to shift, the more you reinforce a reality where you're trying to shift—not the one where you've already shifted. and your brain filters out changes to keep you itself stable and safe. this is why reality feels so monotonous, even though it's constantly shifting in little ways.
to break out of the loop, you need to glitch reality—enough that your brain stops autopiloting and lets your consciousness move freely. it's important to note you're not traveling anywhere, you're just wiping your glasses—aka, consciousness, the lens of your reality.
STEP ONE
the fact that you even know about shifting means it’s already happening. you’re just stuck in the “trying” loop. reality runs on predictable patterns, and your brain fills in gaps to make it feel stable. naturally, the quickest way to shift is to mess with that stability.
here are some ways to do that, stick with one or two of them or all of them, it doesn't matter:
— walk into a room and act like something changed (without checking). even if things look the same, in your mind, keep running the “program” that you're already in your dr.
— misremember something on purpose (“Wait, wasn’t my blanket blue?” Even if it never was.)
— when you do anything, like check your phone, act like it’s your DR phone. what would be on your screen? if your DR has no phones, imagine you’re reading a book or getting a message another way.
— if someone talks to you, mentally swap their words for what they’d say in your DR.
— throughout the day, remember that you shifted, mentally say: “Wait, when did I shift?”
— or ask yourself: “Wait, what was I doing again?” (in your DR) it doesn’t matter if you don’t “believe” it, act like it’s obvious.
STEP TWO
notice how you shift realities when you least expect it? when you’re half-asleep, zoned out, or so exhausted you stop caring? that’s because caring too much locks you into your current state.
— before bed, or when making an attempt, prime your mind by saying: “I actually don’t care about shifting anymore,” or “Shifting isn't so important after all.”
you’ll either 1) shift because you stopped resisting the process, 2) wake up feeling slightly different, which means you did shift but your brain is pretending nothing happened.
NOTE
if it feels weird, good. that means your brain is questioning it. when your brain starts doubting reality, it will try to restabilize by convincing you, “this is normal, nothing happened.”
your consciousness moves faster than your logical brain, meaning 9/10 you literally shifted—but your brain is reconstructing old memories to keep things feeling ‘normal.’ so if you keep asking, "did i shift?", you’re just reinforcing your old reality.

A God is a hypothetical phenomenon that exists in all and no places until it is observed. Physical matter is frequencies exhibiting coherence, solidity is an illusion. Consciousness is contained within light. Every single particle in the entire universe emits light in the form of thermal radiation because all particles vibrate. Movement is being. I am a light-bringer, as long as there is something there is light. Excitation. A change in energy states. Close your eyes. Do you feel that? Forget your senses. Think about the exact point you occupy in space. You’re wrong. Think about how incredibly fast you’re moving. You’re orbiting the sun, and the sun is orbiting something else, you do not occupy a space, you’re not there anymore. The particles that made up you aren’t even close to there anymore. Heaven is unity with God and Hell is the separation from God, Heaven is superimposed. Let there be light. Let there be something, anything, and there will be light. How much light is radiating from you right now? how many billions of particles do you waft through every waking moment? Thank God for human perception. Thank God it is so limited. Archetypes merge and split, interfere with eachother like photons do. Gods are superimposed until they are observed. Multiple observations must interfere with eachother- or maybe they don’t. I am a light bringer. Phosphorus absorbs energy and radiates light. I seek light, I seek being. You are constantly radiating light, that is why I love you.

Last Sprout Dev Diary - Nov 22, 2024
Hello sprout folks! I'm Valerie, or @oneominousvalbatross, and I've been working on Last Sprout since July, and I'm wildly excited to share some of the things I've been working on with y'all.
Ignore that Twiggs' hat falls off that's natural.
I'm aiming for a Dev Diary once a week on Fridays, and I'm just gonna be giving a brief look into making a game! I'm learning how to do a lot of this stuff live, so I'm sure there'll be a ton of massive rewrites and changes. I have probably a dozen huge systems that are already built that I'm not going to be getting into in this post, since I'm already half a year or so into development, but I'm sure I will find space to include them later!
XP
I spent most of my time figuring out exactly how we wanted to represent XP in the world. We were pretty certain that we wanted XP to exist physically as a substance you picked up, so I started with a system from a previous build.
In that version, we just created a bunch of XP objects and scattered them into the world, then had some code that scooted them around. Of course, that means that we're tracking an individual unity GameObject for every single instance of a point of XP which is, uh, slow.
This is what we call 'suboptimal.'
So obviously we needed to not instantiate an entire transform every time we needed to spawn XP. Even if we re-used objects that would just be prohibitively expensive for an object that really just needs a position.
I'm not going to go over each step in the process, but after experimenting with GPU instancing to just draw a bunch of XP objects at once, eventually I landed on extending Unity's particle system, since it has a lot of the settings I wanted access to.
To make the XP move how I wanted, I wrote a pretty simple process that iterates through all the little blobs and checks how close they are to a designated collector, then uses an exponential decay function (with thanks to Freya Holmér) to make them move towards Twiggs.
I think every game should have an action that can be best summarized by making the noise 'SHWOOOOOP.'
Parrying
Parrying was a good deal simpler, but it still has its issues. Essentially, all a parry needs to be is a hitbox and an animation, with some callbacks to enemies to let them react to the parry. Whenever an attack hitbox intersects with either a Parrybox or a Hurtbox, it checks its tags to see if it's interacting with the appropriate entities, to makes sure enemies aren't hitting or parrying each other constantly. If it passes the test, it calls GetParried() on the intersecting object.
GetParried(), idiot.
For the basic behavior, parrying just interrupts the attack in progress and knocks the enemy back by a set amount, but there's room in the system to add all sorts of neat effects, which I'm sure we'll be taking advantage of in the future. It's been a challenge to juggle the various kinds of hitboxes, but it'll definitely be worth it going forward!
Of course, between all these bits there were a ton of bugfixes and little experiments, but that's a topic for a later dev diary!

FAESPEAK GRAMMAR
Faespeak is fluid, lyrical, and evocative. Its grammar is relatively simple and flexible, though there are still rules. These rules can be broken if it improves the rhythm or intent—faes are whimsical, after all—but only faes can get away with that.
Sentence Structure
Basic Structure: [Pronoun Prefix] + [Verb Root] + [Modifier/Intensifier] (optional) + [Object/Subject] + [Adjective]
Example: sy’aeltheren shilthys — “I offer myself in deepest beauty” → sy- (I), aeltheren (offer self), shilthys (deep beauty)
Pronouns and Prefixes
Pronouns are expressed through prefixes attached to verbs and nouns. They are rich with tone and reverence, with several layers depending on emotion, rank, or respect.
Core Personal Prefixes

While Faespeak typically uses gender-neutral terms, specific forms do exist for poetic, intimate, or emphatic purposes. These are still used as prefixes but imply more than just gender—they carry fae-perceived essences.
When two following prefix/words end/start with the same letter, an apostrof is added between, keeping the letter of the word rather the prefix. Sya- ael = Sy’ael and not Syaael Essence Prefix Example Meaning He (masculine) ra- rame’a his light She (feminine) le- leme’a her light They (genderless) tya- tyame’a their light It (object) ni- niva its name
Note: These are used for literary, dramatic, or reverent expression. Everyday speech favors gender-neutral forms like tya-.
Pluralization
Plurality in Faespeak is indicated by a soft-sounding suffix, depending on the word type.
1. Plural Suffix -elai (general plural, especially poetic)
kaen (their light) → kame’aelai(their lights)
ael (soul) → aelelai (souls)
2. Plural Pronouns Already Include Plural Meaning
Prefixes like ka- (they) or tye- (we) imply plurality inherently, so pluralizing the object is optional depending on emphasis.
Negation
Negation in Faespeak is usually soft and elegant, avoiding harsh sounds.
Negation Particle: nei- It is placed before the verb root, following the pronoun prefix.
aeaeltheren (I offer myself) → aenei’aeltheren (I do not offer myself)
kaelyssar (they love) → kanei’lyssar(they do not love)
Alternative poetic negations:
veil- (impossibility, sacred no) — used in oaths or curses:
tyeveil’thelan (I shall never return)
noa- (gentle denial, refusal of feeling)
zyanoa’lyssar (I cannot love you)

WISHLIST IT PLZ!
Water Ripplez:
I've been playing DMC3 lately, and I noticed some of the enemies in that game pop out of the ground with this warble effect that makes it look as though the ground beneath them in distorting. I asked some fellow devs about how that might've been done and eventually landed on a specific method.
The first step was to go into blender and create this little waves/ripple model and bake it onto a flat plane to get the normal map. If you don't know what a normal map is, it is a 2d texture that tells light what direction it should bounce off it in order to give the illusion of depth. Look them up they are cool.
The next thing I did was make a circular model and align the UVs so that scrolling it downwards would make it look as though the waves were traveling outwards from the center.
Then I brought that model and the normal map into unity and set up this refraction shader. dw about it.
And finally it all came together to become a little ground distortion. Wow, i'm so proud of it. Not proud as in im proud of making it, but proud of it as if it were my son.
Bubblez:
I decided to add in lil bubbles(z) that you can jump into and they pop which launches you up. They've turned out to be really helpful for bridging gaps in level design, and they were easy af to make. Not much to say about them besides I hope they r fun and I'll be adding cool pop particles to them later.
Doctor Spider:
The first thing I did when getting back on this project after my big October break was finish up Doctor Spider.
He is the second target in the desert nightclub area, and he lives up this big ass dome. You gotta bring him some blood wine to draw him out and then shoot him with ur gun. He sucks.
