A personal motto, slogan, or catchphrase is a sentence or concept that sums up a character’s philosophy and values.

It’s not compulsory to invent it.

You can always use sayings such as “you live and learn” or “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,” etc.

You can also use quotes by famous philosophers.

Leave a blank space for other relevant information such as my characters’ biography, a funny anecdote, etc.

Anything that helps you visualize them in more detail will come in handy when you start writing your story.

WRITING TEMPLATE: Character Bible

This must be as detailed as possible. In this way, you’ll be clear about your characters’ appearance, peculiarities, virtues, shortcomings, customs, relationships, etc. Think about actors and actresses who must be very familiar with the characters they play in order to make a good performance. A writer who gathers information about a character faces a similar job.

Feel free to create the type of character sketch that best suits you. If you don’t know where to start, you can use the character sketch outline that I use for my stories. This document covers the most important points of a sketch.

1. General Features

Organize your sketches by number and add their creation date.

Make note of what story they belong to.

Character’s name or nickname (with origin and meaning).

Character’s role in the story (protagonist, antagonist, mentor...); specify in which part of the plot (s)he participates.

Gender, age, marital status, studies, occupation, residence.

2. Appearance

Write about the character’s appearance:

Physical features, clothes, gestures, manners, etc.

Pay attention to the features that make a character different from everyone else (a scar on the face, wears glasses, etc.).

3. Personality

Information about their character traits.

Adjectives that best define your character and the way (s)he sees himself/herself; the way others describe him or her.

Hobbies, fears, phobias, fixations, dreams, and goals.

4. Family and Friends

Information about the parents of each characters (names, jobs, ages, and type of relationship with their son or daughter).

Hobbies or events that marked them deeply.

If your main character has siblings, a partner, children, or other intimate acquaintances (name, age, and relationship with the main character, etc.)

though you have been warned about his preference for fighting, you still didn't expect him to just straight up demand a sparring fight with you on your first day of duty

you tried giving every excuse in the book, but he kept insisting and in the end, you neither had the energy nor the nerves to deny him any longer

Childe was beaming with excitement on the way to the training grounds, immediately ridding himself of his weapons and getting in the ring, waiting for you to join him

"Come on, it's just a little spar. Nothing too serious~" he continues to coax you with a smirk

you sigh, as you go to take of your coat and other clothing that would just hinder you during the fight, placing your choice of weapon right next to them

when you look up again, you notice Childe staring at you

more specifically, at the muscles that protrude from your upper arms

they weren't really noticable under your clothes before, but it was clear evidence that you did not slack on your training. And now it seemed like Childe was hypnotized by them

in fact, his eyes lit up as he took in your well trained form, no longer hidden under your choice of clothes

the smirk returns to his face and he looks you in the eyes, excited for the, without a doubt, very enjoyable spar that's about to take place

Alhaitham

Alhaitham and you have been well acquainted for a few years now

it's like a sort of friendship that has formed between you two due to circumstances aligning, and after all those years, the friendship has still survived

it's not like you guys were together every single day, it's more like the occaisonal hangout once every (other) week, catching up with each other again, before going back to your own lives again. Then rinse and repeat

you are both aware of each others occupation and hobbies. Like, you knew that Alhaitham was currently under a lot of stress due to temporarily being promoted to Acting Grande Sage, and he likes to read during his free time

as for him, he was aware of your hobby with self defense fighting styles, and that you were teaching some classes from time to time

however, it seems that it never occured to him that thanks to your hobby, you would logically also acquire a figure that would prove that visually

so, when for one of your meet ups, you asked him to meet you at your current training spot, he thought nothing too much of it, making his way there after he was done with all his other responsibilities

when he arrived, you were still invested in your training, and since he didn't want to interrupt you, he planned on sitting down and reading his book while waiting for you

that was his plan... until he snatched a glance at you

seeing you in your work out clothes, toned abs clearly visible now in the daylight, something in him froze up, not letting him take his eyes away from you anymore

he was mesmerized by your form, how your body looked and how well trained and fit you seemed to be. In this moment, he felt like a fool for never realizing what such intense training would do to ones body

and he had to admit... he definitely liked what he saw

after your training was done, he would act respectful and not comment about it, stating that he didn't mind waiting for you. But that doesn't mean that he's not still thinking about what he's seen today..

Kazuha

you haven't really known Kazuha for too long, but you've grown to really like the wandering samurai a lot

his calm, collected way of speaking, along with his kind personality was a breath of fresh air to you, one that you really desperately needed

you enjoyed the time you spend with him, sitting around or walking through Liyue Harbor, listening to the storys he tells you about his travels. You always listen very closely to everything, soaking his storys up

on the other hand, Kazuha really enjoys sharing his experiences with you. He adores the excited glint in your eyes and how you focus on each word that leaves his lips

the more you two got to know each other, the more time you spent together. You began wandering around Liyue, outside the city, exploring the nature and wildlife together

often times, Kazuha would pick you up early in the morning, spending the day hiking up mountains with you, finding a beautiful spot where you can rest and just look up to the sky together

and although this is all nice and everything, that doesn't mean it can't get dangerous along the way

this time, on your way back down from a mountain, you guys got attacked by a swarm of Hilichurls. They got you cornered and surrounded, but Kazuha and you were quick to pull your weapons and fight yourself a way out

though Kazuha's fighting style was much more elegant than yours in your personal opinion, that doesn't neglect the fact that you were very well adapted with your own weapon of choice

however, in the midst of the battle, one of the monsters got a grip of you. You had to sacrifice your favourite coat to it, in order to not get hit by it, but you took it down swiftly afterwards. However, the coat was ruinied

when everything was over and Kazuha went to check up on you, he noticed that your coat was gone, and admittedly, he couldn't help the way his eyes were wandering over your body

he had never seen you without a coat on, seeing as you were always meeting up outside and it was late fall already. And since you were mostly wearing clothes that were on the baggier side, he never would have thought that you had such a well trained body shape

his eyes kept wandering, completely oblivious to the fact that he was staring at you

when you cleared your throat, he snapped out of his trance, focusing back on you, though a blush from the embarrassement of getting caught was evident on his face

"I'm sorry for staring. I just wasn't expecting you to look this stunning under the layers you usually wear."

Every Merc and their surprising skills:

Scout:

Scout has the reputation of being a rather simple Merc, kinda a little silly guy at that. Maybe some street smarts too.

He often surprises people with his visual memory tho, being able to identify places he's been to with the most basic of clues like some piece of road, a garden and a fence. He's also great at identifying paintings.

Soldier:

Soldier already has the reputation of being the Jack of all traits on the base, at least when it comes to jobs. He's got many skills that he applies from time to time, but only if really needed.

What the others found surprising about him is his orientation skill. As someone with a helmet covering his eyes, being partially deaf since he's not protecting his ears from the explosions, one wouldn't assume he navigates himself all that well. But he's can do that. He can lead you from the middle of the desert to civilisation in no time as long as you can run after him. Some suspect he's got a nose of a dog, others that he can use the Earth's magnetic field to find the way.

Pyro:

While Soldier is a man of almost no surprises when it comes to skills, Pyro is the opposite. So mysterious that any skill revealed feels like "Damn, they can do that?"

Pyro has majorly surprised her colleagues with the knowledge of animal care. From horses and dogs to frogs, lizards and even bugs, Pyro knows how to take care of many of such critters to various extent.

Engineer:

Being very problem solving oriented guy, Dell has earned the reputation of being the practical person. As such he's mostly expected to know a lot about technology and science. As a country boy most of his colleagues also assign him knowledge about farming and love of music.

The biggest surprise when it comes to skills that came from Engineer are his skills connected to working with leather. Even tho he's a farm boy and as expected, has slaughtered some animals in the past for meat, nobody really expected him to know how to make things out of leather and take care of it. He's even got a special toolkit and everything, the only thing he lacks is a station for processing raw leather.

Demoman:

Similarly to Pyro, this man is almost always a surprise, because nobody expects much of him. Due to his alcoholism, they set the bar of expectations pretty low for Demoman, only raising it after learning he's got multiple jobs.

Demoman's unexpected skill is definitely vexillology - the knowledge of flags. He's very well educated on both the country flags, but also pirate flags, interesting flags of smaller areas and even some very obscure groups. He even made a couple designs for their team flag, but he's keeping them locked in a drawer.

Heavy:

Heavy's most expected skills are connected to survival and guns. Guns because he's the Heavy Weapons Guy, survival because even when he's not talking about it to anyone, everyone can tell he's went through some rough times in the past. Also he has to deal with people automatically assuming he's a meathead pretty often, which doesn't help.

After surprising folks with his PhD in Russian literature, he also surprised them with his knowledge of some musical instruments, like trombone, harmonica or even some very basic stuff on balalaika (last two he got from a port in Russia as a kid, from a lonesome fisherman, in exchange for a cigarette, which while Heavy is not very proud of, he was very capable of stealing).

Medic:

Often regarded as the most one-trick pony guy on the base and just a crazy scientist, he's also a constant surprise. The difference between him, Pyro and Demo tho is that, when he's about to reveal some surprising skill, others tend to run away. They don't feel like potentially risking it all.

After much hesitation, since he's pretty ashamed of this one, he did eventually reveal he enjoys and knows quite a lot about plumbing. It's kinda a family thing, where few of his uncles were plumbers so he kinda picked up on that. The thing is, he doesn't believe himself to be very good at it, but he's actually pretty decent and least afraid of get his hands dirty.

Sniper:

Regarded as the bushman, an outbacker, whatever you want to call him, for the most part he's got survival skills. And he's very proud of them. From recognising dangerous creatures, to foraging. Animal care? Yeah, he knows that too. He's got all the skills to be self reliant and dwell in the desert.

While he hid his knowledge of saxophone, the most surprising skill he revealed was just how and when he could fall asleep. Sitting up? Yes. Standing up? Did that once. He can essentially do it on command and has abrupted an annoying fight in the car by scaring the living shit out of everyone by taking a quick nap behind the wheel. Aside from that, it was rafting.

Spy:

Jack of all traits of espionage and so on, Spy has everything he needs for any job of his qualifications. Poisons, arranging the murder scene, disguise etc. He's also a polyglot and has good listening memory. Reading people as open books.

What Mercs found surprising about him, was plant knowledge. He is very knowledgeable in plant symbolism, plant care, what flowers go into a bouquet for what occasion, how many. Sure, many think he's a flirt or used to be one, but it still kinda surprises them when he points at a random plant and is like "Ah, a [insert Latin name], commonly known as [insert name], from the genus [something]. Outdoor plant, needs to be planted into a very sunny area, no..."

Miss Pauling:

Regarded as the most skilled as she was the Administrator's helper for years. From destroying evidence to more mundane stuff like making a basic phonecall, she has all the skills needed to get by.

What surprised both her and the Mercs is her natural ability to tell when it's going to be raining. Maybe she smells the chemical change in the air, maybe it's in her bones, but all and all, somehow, she always knows when it's going to rain.

Zhanna (my bbg):

As the last person to engage with the Red team before everything came to a head, nobody had really any expectations of what she's like and what skills she has. For the most part it was assumed she has most of Heavy's skills, except the expertise in miniguns.

Zhanna has the ability to repeat information word for word. She may not understand the information, but she'll parrot it to the beat. This pairs well with her love for films, having a big library of film quotes in her head.

-Jinx would major in engineering with a focus on weapons

-Ekko would also be majoring in engineering but with minors in quantum mechanics and visual art

-Jinx is a musician on the side who puts out mostly pop-punk and metal music. She hates sticking to one genre and refuses to let labels choose what kind of music she makes

-Her EP would be called “Get Jinxed” with the songs Get Jinxed, Paint the Town Blue, Rebel Heart, and two more metal songs

-Her music blew up after Paint the Town Blue was used in a huge show and her music became pretty popular

-Ekko would be a small rapper//his songs include Misfit Toys and Dynasties & Dystopia (Featuring Jinx)

-Ekko would eventually join the band True Damage and put out the song GIANTS which also blew up

-They help each other produce their music

-In their first year they were required to live in the student dorms and boys/girls were not allowed in each other’s dorm buildings so Jinx would constantly CLIMB Ekko’s building and sneak into his dorm (which pissed off Ekko’s roommate Scar to no end)

-In their second year they got an apartment off campus together

-Jinx is constantly forgetting to hand in her work even though she does it so Ekko keeps reminders for both of their deadlines on his phone

-Jinx convinced Ekko to get matching tattoos, she got his hourglass and he got her monkey

-They’re both scholarship students. Ekko does everything in his power to keep Jinx out of trouble so they don’t get kicked out (and if some mishaps were conveniently written off by the Heimerdinger, well that’s none of Ekko’s business)

-They’re both addicted to energy drinks and put off doing their huge assignments to the last minute so they can focus on their own inventions

-In their second year they won a national invention competition and they were granted a shit ton of money for their research

-Viktor and Jayce are their professors that end up basically being friends with them by the time Ekko and Jinx start their PhD’s

-They would publish research papers together and Jinx would always insist her name should be put first because “Jinx and Ekko sounds better than Ekko and Jinx”

-Ekko would end up doing his PhD on time in quantum theory while Jinx would stick to weapons engineering

-Although they had different specialties Jinx and Ekko would be extremely educated on the other person’s topic, and they would also use their individual knowledge for collaborations

-Jinx would wear those stupid physics and math joke t-shirts around campus as a joke and force Ekko into matching with her (totally not projecting I don’t love those shirts whatt)

Small Information If You Don’t Know Them:

Edmond Pierre (3rd year), Rene Pierre (1st year), and Cedric Etoile (2nd year) are Twisted Wonderland OCs based of Disney’s 1950s Cinderella. Edmond Pierre is based off of Drizella, Rene Pierre is based off of Anastasia, and Cedric Etoile is based of off Cinderella.

Information About Them Currently:

In NRC, Edmond and Rene are both sorted into Pomefiore’s dormitory, meaning that they’re literally togther often but that doesn’t mean they get along. They are always seen either bickering or messing with eachother since well.. They are brothers.

Their arguements can get quite loud and annoying with leads Vil to shut them up and punishing them. Sometimes Vil has to keep an eye on them so they won’t get too rowdy over petty topics like which color the fabric is (although none of them knows anything about fabrics because it’s just Edmond wanting to impress Vil and Rene is there to sabotage him.)

Although it may seem like they’re always together, they also interact with other students:

Rene often talks to Epel since they are in the same grade and in the same dorm. They share some similar interests like going against things about them like how Epel dislikes being pictured as a weak and meek dude when he actually can stand his ground, and Rene hates the expectations of his mother and being restricted.

Edmond and Rene both find Rook strange. However, Edmond admires Rook’s ability to make such poetic statements about others or about anything.

Edmond and Rene respect Vil a lot since he is the dormleader of Pomefiore. Also he’s the one who stops their petty fighting and puts them in the time-out corner.

Octavinelle is dead.

Edmond is in the same club as Riddle and finds him a promising underclassman. But Riddle thinks Edmond is a bit… like Ace and Deuce. Edmond doesn’t know that so he’s living in his delusion (lol.)

Edmond, during school, loves to act like he is proper and above people like he’s a prince. He also doesn’t like getting his hands dirty in fights so he avoids them. Basically, he thinks he’s a pretty princess who cannot be harmed. So far, he hasn’t totally beaten up. Just a little roughed up. From the tweels.

Rene, on the other hand, depends. I mean, he doesn’t like people bothering him but if a physical or magical fight can get him out of NRC, he’ll do his best. But usually, Rene is a good student. He doesn’t really bother people unless it’s his brother.

Academics for Edmond is hard. He’s pretty good in P.E. but he struggles with studying for academic tests. He’s grades are pretty low as Rene is doing well, but he’s only doing well if him getting out of NRC doesn’t work out.

SInce there isn’t much about RSA, Cedric’s school life may be short.

Cedric’s grades are average. He’s not perfect but he is passing since his test scores are impressive. He seems to do better in tests rather than other assignments. It may be because he works better with pressure, or he managed to study most of the subjects the night before the tests.

During school, Cedric is a good student, always helping out and assisting others whenever he can which is why some of his assignments get low grades. He also works out often now so picking up heavy things are easier for him.

He oftens hangs around Neige and they’re good friends. (Other interactions may come soon.)

Information About Their Past:

Back in their childhood and they were mostly raised by the Pierre brothers’ mother (Cedric’s stepmother), Cedric did all the chores and was left mostly alone. He was treated horribly by his step-mother and he was forced to be homeschooled and hidden away from others outside of the family.

Before all of this, Cedric used to live with his father but then his father died due to a heart attack right after he got remarried. Since Cedric’s mother died during birth, his stepmother was the only adult to take him in as his mother figure. She had also taken in his father’s popular boutique business in the City of Flowers, inheriting all of the money. Soon, she was consuming and thriving in the rich life as she hid Cedric from everybody.

Despite his step-mother being cruel, his step-brothers weren’t so. They still played with Cedric even when their mother told them not to or pulled them away. She tried to isolate Cedric as much as she could.

Because of that, Edmond as accepted it as Rene thought it was stupid. (But they still interacted with Cedric because THEY’RE BASICALLY BROTHERS.)

Cedric’s scar happened because of an accident.

After Cedric’s stepmother forced everything onto Cedric, Edmond felt upset that Cedric was doing more than him when he was the oldest. So he tried to cook all by himself but Cedric said it was too dangerous for him since he was inexperienced. Edmond was cutting some vegetables angrily until Cedric tried to pull the knife away from his hands and caused a tug of war.

With a slip of a hand, Edmond accidentally made a deep cut into Cedric’s cheek.

Edmond felt so guilty and helped Cedric clean up the blood and patched it up for him. Til this day, he looks at the scar with slight guilt.

Academic tips that work for me

Hello girlies! This is a post that I have been delaying for like 2 weeks, but now it's time or me to post it. In this blog I will give you all the things I do to keep myself getting high grades and maintain the "intelligent" persona I have worked for since I started studying my college career and fortunately others see me this way now.

I do not study hevy or know a lot about studying methods, I am more into "smart work > hard work" kind of thing

My personal tips

This are my tips being an auditory person focused on being effortless

Understand your learning style: Are you visual? Auditory? Or kinesthetic? By knowing this you can apply studying methods that are efficient for you.

Pay attention to your classes!: I think the main reason I slay effortlessly my exams is because of this so I only need a quick study. You will be saving future time since your study sessions will be lighter because you will remember lots of the things.

Participate / Ask questions: It's easy, you will get points with your teachers as a great student, plus you will get your questions solved.

Put your on a place you can't see it so it doesn't distract you, for classes or when you need to study / get work done.

Study in a place when you feel comfortable, it can be at an cafe or at the library, even in your bedroom at a desk, what matters is that you feel comfortable and that you get the feel of "this is a place where I can study / do my assignments" and not feel lazy or uncomfortable by "x or y" reason. As a plus, keep your space clean and only with the necessary at sight.

Use music that doesn't distract you and you vibe with: Listen to music that doesn't have lyrics, but that's a basic by now. What I recommend you is to listen to music that you just vibe with to get your desired mood and motivation. In my case, I listen to videogame soundtracks since it makes me feel relaxed or to classical music because I fee like "that business girly", either way music helps me concentrate.

Romanticize your studies: This can mean different things to all of you reading this post, I am talking about making your academic journey fun and pleasing rather than streesing! Some ideas are having cute stationery, take cute notes, act like one of your fav academic characters, have study playlists, drinking coffee, go to the library or to cafes, dress cute for school, read, light candles, watch "study with me" videos and study vlogs, create a pinterest board, stablish academic goals, etc.

Do your homework when you have free time at school / college or do it as a first thing after your schedule, this will help you save time. Think about it, if you do it while having free time at school / college you don't need to do it at home. And if you need to do it at home, if done as the first thing, you will either way get so much free time and can focus on other tasks or activities freely.

Be organized: Have a bullet journal or use an app to keep track of your subjects and assignments. By this you will remember and keep in sight upcoming deadlines and events.

Take care of your academic relationships: I make sure that the people inside my circle of friends are girls (mainly, but boys too) who I feel comfortable, have fun with but also are similar to me in the sense that they take seriously her studies and are good teammates. Outside of them I also focus on other potential classmates that are intelligent and have similar values. There is no need to bother on the ones who don't attend classes, are irresponsable and don't even know what are they doing in the course.

Take care of yourself: Ask yourself? Will it be worth it while not sleeping enough, having a poor diet and exercise? By not letting yourself rest or have fun from time to time? By not practicing self-care? By not practicing any hobby or taking the time for your interests ? Please take care of yourself, girl, this is the lowest part of the pyramid. The reason to care is not only your wellbeing, but also because having a poor lifestyle can have bad effects for you that also affect your performance, and we won't like that.

To me, I imagine Bitterbat not killing Monstrums is kinda like people deciding to catch and release a spider; Yeah, it'd probably be easier to kill it and not risk is coming back and bothering you again, but it's so easy that it's almost not even a concious thought. If that makes sense?

Also love the Beansatalked update and very interested in the fact that Jack's mum didn't seem to think he would be a Bookmarked, but Jack Sr did know enough that he asked a fairy to help guide Jack in the future (also looking back, SOMEONE had to have bound Jack's heart to prevent his story from taking place until the Moon found him)

BASICALLY yeah. We are all spiders in Bitterbat's eyes - it just depends on how big we are to him that determines the fate he assigns us.

AND thank you! I'm happy to be giving this aspect of Beanstalked's story, and Jack's backstory in general, the proper attention in this reboot because it's so important.

AND to clarify on Jack's whole Tell-Tale Heart, since this isn't a spoiler and is actually just Bookmarked anatomy - the chains around his heart are actually present for all Bookmarked that haven't started their story yet. There's a "key" event that triggers their story happening, leading to their heart finally unlocking...because I love visual puns.

As for why it took Jack's story so long to actually begin - Chapter 1's page 13 and 14 contain the answer, albeit less plot heavy and dramatic like some may expect.

I don’t normally share personal projects here but I'm happy with the art so why not. Anyway these are some character concepts for a game pitch assignment I've been working on. It's still very much in its infancy but the idea is a dating sim/visual novel-style game based around the concept of a support group for the henchmen of supervillains, called "Henchman Anonymous."

You-- the player-- are the familiar to Carmilla de Villeneuve, the Vampire Princess (pictured left). No, she isn't royalty. Yes, you're pretty sure she stole her name from popular vampire media. But yes, she's actually a vampire, a vampire supervillain more specifically, and a very mediocre one at that. After years of thankless work executing her extravagantly stupid schemes (that might also just be a wee bit genius) and styling her finger waves you've about had it. That's what Henchman Anonymous is for, breaking up with your abusive boss! Only one issue you might sort of actually be a bit in love with her... Perhaps what you need is a little help getting over her.

As of right now I only have two main routes planned.

Route #1: Amélie is one of Ring Master's many henchmen and she is also her daughter. Let's just say crime runs in the family, as in they're literally a crime family. Amélie is the fourth eldest of eight, meaning her smack dab in the middle and often overlooked. Between the size of her family and her mother's controlling tendencies, Amélie feels more than a little stifled. She hopes that Henchmen Anonymous will help her break free and lead a normal life. It's too bad her boss just happens to be your boss' villain rival— not that Ring Master knows that.

Route #2: Dorian is a man of mystery, well it's more accurate to say he's a stubborn jerk who refuses to share anything, despite being in a support group. You swear he looks familiar though. Little do you know the reason Dorian won't talk is because he's not-so-secretly the sidekick to the Ebony Knight-- your city's resident vigilante-- who's undercover trying to get insider information on supervillains so that maybe his boss will fully take him under his wing. Unfortunately for you, the reason he looks so familiar is that the Ebony Knight might just be Carmilla's nemesis and absolute obsession. (Lego Batman and Lego Joker vibes)

Main Route:

Ideally, I would like to have a non-romance-based route for those who want to explore the plots of both stories. This route would allow players to learn about both Amélie and Dorian's connections to Carmilla and allow you to befriend them. There are also a couple secondary non-romanceable characters that I haven't mentioned because I don't have concepts drawn up for them that would get more emphasis. I haven't decided if it would be something activated by not scoring high enough with either of the romanceable characters or if it's something I would let players choose.

Secret Route:

In my head, I'm calling this the "I can fix her" route, because that's basically what it is. It would focus on getting to know Carmilla. In all versions of the story, there would ideally be a plot about learning to set boundaries with Carmilla, but this secret route would basically allow you to then romance her. Unlike the other routes, Carmilla wouldn't be something you could choose, you'd have to earn it through the main route.

Notes on the designs:

Carmilla died in the 50's and is old Hollywood-inspired, specifically Marilyn Monroe who I used as a clothing reference. Overall I wanted this whole series to read very campy and lean into tropes, so I tried to also capture as many vampire motifs as I could. While she loves to look glamorous she's actually not all that good at styling herself. I sort of based her on the wwdits vampire logic of them being dated but not completely tied down to whatever century they died in. Committing to the aesthetic is the most important factor.

Amélie is based on court jesters and is absolutely supposed to be a Harley Quinn knockoff. I mixed several eras for her clothing. Court jesters are associated mostly with being medieval so I pulled some references there with the headdress, which I heavily stylized to look like devil horns. The ribbons are a call back to the veils women used to wear. The collar and sleeves are more Elizabethan, while the stays are based on 18th century fashion. (I've been drawing too much ofmd fanart my bad everypony) Don't ask me where the chemise is, maybe it's cropped. For the bottom half I referenced DC comics silhouettes. It might also be worth mentioning that I was listening to Chappell Roan while drawing her initial designs, so that really carried over in the make-up, but I swear she was always going to be a redhead!

Dorian's outfit I have to be so real about, I'm not super satisfied with. I wanted to do a more modern, street-wear look. The best way to describe the vibe I wanted to go for is "if DC's Nightwing were to try to style Marvel's Prowler." I wanted this sort of uptight, hyper-serious sidekick to dress like what he thought villains dressed like. So I opted to put him in stereotypical "bad boy" clothing; leather jacket, studded belts, fingerless gloves. I looked at a lot of Shadow the Hedgehog gijinka fanart. I don't hate what I came up with, but I definitely want to push the design more next time, really amp up the emo, bad boy-ness of it all. 

some notes on the design of the game:

Because I'm still very early on in the hypothetical process I don't have backgrounds or specific graphic design elements selected. However, my initial idea would be to use the classic comic book style font with the text bar emulating speech bubbles-- well, closer to the bubbles they use for inner dialogue or establishing shots. I want to play up that comic book vibe.

RE1 is getting remade for the 30th Anniversary and here's why I support it and what I'd love to see in the RE1RR.

Updated with the next gen graphics in the RE Engine

The plan is obviously to remake RE5, but we need to do Wesker's OTHER big appearances first. I believe we should get the following released in the specific order. 1, 0, then Code Veronica and finally RE5. Cause if you tease RE5 and have Wesker, you should have the three games that featured Wesker before his death in RE5.

The atmosphere and tension of the Spencer Mansion in the new age and basically RE1 meets Village. The visual aesthetic of Village’s Castle Dimitrescu for Spencer Mansion.

Better characterization. Flesh out all the characters. Improve the plot/story.

Chris and Jill’s campaigns to be separate and different, so by the time they meet at the end they’ve both had their own adventure, and you need to play through both to see both sides. Perhaps give Chris the mines and Jill the guard house. Expand the mansion, and when they separate at the start they pick up different keys and access different areas. That way they story would be canon regardless of what happens, and there would be some variety. Also have Rebecca and Richard as playable paths, similar to Sherry and Ada in RE2R.

A playable Wesker mode with him having to move about the mansion and into the lab under a certain amount of time.

Also would like them to keep the REmake music (especially the save room theme), though they could always release a Deluxe Edition like 2R with the OG music too?

Additions. I would be happy with an entire new floor in the Spencer Mansion. Or making the Residence 3x as long. Adding a forest section, either during the opening and/or later in the game. Extended playable sequences for Rebecca and Barry – different locations for each, like how the Orphanage was entirely new for Sherry in 2R. An abandoned greenhouse near the guardhouse with Plant-42 and similar experimentation , an extended cemetery with more tombs, a third floor in Spencer Mansion, more floors in guardhouse, etc.

Making S.T.A.R.S. matter. The game begins at the R.P.D. After picking between Chris and Jill, you make your way from the garage and up into the department proper, crossing paths with various characters referencing the recent cannibal killings and the fact that Alpha and Bravo have been assigned. The walk through the RPD could be intercut with news reports and police banter about what’s been happening. You can interact with the various characters as much or as little as you want en route to the briefing room. Chris and Forrest can talk some trash and reference their apparent contest for top shot. Enrico can be seen helping Rebecca organize her equipment and her nerve. Joseph can be given more personality than being puppy kibble. Marvin can be caught informing Rebecca that she won’t be the rookie in a couple more months. Chief Irons can greet the player with the mask of a competent professional because his mind was still intact. Hell, perhaps we can even catch a glimpse of whatever act Wesker put on for the two years that made these people trust him. Wesker and Enrico would then host the briefing that will send them into mountains, still treating this like they think the suspects are hill people or whatever, culminating in Bravo Team taking point while Alpha Team remains behind. There could be some more small talk or some kinda time lapse before Richard makes contact in a panic before communications break down. Alpha Team immediately preps and heads out, complete with changing clothes in the locker room and gearing up. The player will actually play the search through the woods, discover the crashed helicopter, and play through the mad chase to the mansion where the game as we know it begins.

And finally getting what we never got in the original or the 2002 remake. The ending that has Chris, Jill, Rebecca and Barry in the chopper. So my big idea to make this happen is this. If we play as Jill, Chris makes it to the mansion with us. Jill and Barry go and investigate, while Chris and Wesker are outside. They vanish. Richard will mention that Rebecca Chambers left the mansion after hearing Brad’s radio and went to get help. We will later see Rebecca in the cell with Chris in Jill’s story. For Chris’ story, Barry makes it to the Mansion. Chris investigates the gunshot while Wesker will say they will split up and investigate the Mansion and everyone vanishes. Later in the game before we get to the lab, there would be a dropped Barry’s photograph. Later when we get to the cell, Barry will be in the cell with Jill. Barry apologizes to Chris for what he’s done and Chris understands why he did what he did and he can help make things right. Ultimately in both playthroughs, all 4 S.T.A.R.S. members work together to fight the Tyrant until ultimately Chris or Jill destroys the Tyrant with the rocket launcher. It ends with all 4 members escaping in the chopper as the Mansion explodes.

tips for stem majors in math and science courses (spoonie + neurodivergent friendly)

hi y’all! my nameis lila and i’m a 28 year old physics and anthropology major who’s about 2 years through college (in the US)! as we’re coming up on the start of the fall ‘23 college semester, i thought i might share some really solid hacks for fellow STEM students taking science and/or math courses that i’ve basically built my college academic career on. and! these study tips are spoonie and adhd friendly! as a matter of fact, a lot of these are tips/methods that specifically work for me as a neurodivergent spoonie (i have pretty severe adhd, as well as POTS and ME/CFS), but that i think non-disabled/non-spoonie and/or neurotypical students could also benefit from using! so with out any further ado, here are my 7 tried and true study hacks for college math and science classes…

1) discover your learning style and tailor your studying towards leveraging it.

you’ve probably heard of visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning styles, but did you now there’s actually way more learning styles than just those three? i’m personally a “social learner,” meaning i learn best through discussion and socialization with 1+ other people to interact with. this could look like teaching other classmates concepts and methods that we’ve learned or discussing ideas with classmates and/or professors until i fully understand the concepts at play and how they connect and can reflect them in performing analysis and application, etc. honestly, figuring out my learning style was hands down one of the most helpful things i’ve done in college. it has allowed me to choose professors who i will mesh better with in terms of how they teach, as well as to adapt materials and methods to my style of learning in order to master them quicker and more effectively.

2) rewrite your notes after lecture, for the love of god.

this tip actually comes from my high school IB Math HL teacher, who told me to do this when i originally left high school for college. even if you think you’ve mastered the basics of the topic covered during the lecture, rewriting those notes after lecture helps really hammer in the knowledge that you’ve already established and also helps to get the wheels turning on pieces of information you might have less of a grasp on. try tp set aside at least 30 - 40 minutes after class to just rewrite your notes and try to really digest the information.

3) body doubling is one of the most beneficial things ever to be invented even if you’re not adhd, and i WILL die on that hill, thank you very much.

“body doubling” or “having an accountabilibuddy” are interchangeable terms in the adhd community that mean you have one or more consistent study buddy/buddies who you do all the homework and/or studying with in person on a regular basis, even if you’re just working next to each other in total silence. this does a couple of things. first off, it forces homework/assignments/studying to become a concrete social obligation you need to regularly show up for, rather than a nebulous obligation based on an invisible deadline. second off, it gives you 1+ partners to work out your problems concerning course topics with. third off, it allows you to build a network of peers where you feel comfortable helping each other with course material (this is especially great because it’s likely you and your classmates have different strengths regarding course content). tbh, body doubling is the other method that i, personally, have found most useful in college and i highly recommend trying it, even if you don’t have adhd.

4) teach others/your classmates the analysis and application methods you’ve learned, even if those methods aren’t 100% solidified for you (trust me on this).

the goal of stem courses is never memorization, but rather being able to understand a topic well enough to analyze a similar situation and apply the what you’ve learned creatively. this is where teaching others comes in. in order to teach others a concept and its related analysis and application well, you have to have at least a fraction of a decent understanding of these things yourself, and, further, often time in teaching these things you also learn to grasp the concepts/aanalysis/applications even better than you did before with each new teaching session. basically: teaching others is a creative way of also teaching yourself. you get the benefits of repetition, of thinking about a concept/technique/analysis and application in a new way, and of getting to apply the concept/technique/analysis and applicatioin to a new scenario each time. plus, you’ll typically make friends quickly in the process! there’s really no downside to this tip imo ;-)

5) utilize your college’s tutoring center/program(s), even when you don’t think you need to.

usually colleges have either set up a general “tutoring center,” on campus where you can find tutors for all different kinds of topics and courses available during regular hours for walk-in sessions and/or appointments free of charge or departments will hold regular weekly (or twice weekly) free on-campus tutoring sessions for specific courses. regardless of which of these options your college has, i highly recommend attending at least one tutoring session/appointment (ideally with the same tutor if/when you eventually find one you click with) every single week, even when you don’t feel like you’re struggling with the topic(s) covered in that week’s lecture. this will help you review topics and techniques covered in lecture, deepen your understanding of them, and, if nothing else, it’s an excuse to get homework out of the way while having someone else there who can help you if/when you get stuck. attending at least one session weekly also helps you get into a habit and routine of keeping up with your assignments, so you’re not left scrambling at the last minute before they’re due.

6) if you have accommodations, request access to record lectures. if you do not have accommodations, ask your professor if you are allowed to record lectures. IF YOU RECORD LECTURES, DO NOT FORGET TO REVIEW THEM!

okay, so first up for my fellow spoonies and neurodivergent peeps: when you apply for/renew your accommodations, make sure that “recordinng lectures” is on your MOA (memorandum of accommodations), because so long as it is, your professors legally cannot deny you permission to record lectures without risk of themself and the college being sued for an ADA violation. also, make friends with a classmate and ask them to record lectures and send them to you if/when you are absent (let the professor know that you’ve asked this classmate to record and send you the lecture if you are absent)

now, if you aren’t disabled, a spoonie, and/or neurodivergent, you aren’t guaranteed permission to record lectures. however. ask the professor if you can have their permission to audio record lectures (be sure to also let them know that such a recording would be for personal use only and that you don’t plan on distributing the recordings). i’ve found that many professors don’t mind you having an audio recording.

even if you aren’t an audible learner it can be really useful to have these recordings to review at a later point. oftentimes reviewing lecture recordings can be useful if you glazed over and missed a section of the lecture and/or if you can’t remember what a professor taught during a section of a lecture.

7) last but not least, on a related note, if you have accommodations, also request access to your professor’s lecture notes. if you don’t have accommodations, check if your professor posts their lecture notes for students to use.

having your professor’s notes can be extremely useful for review purposes, but they can also help you understand where your professor is going with course content and what they want to stress as important.

That being said, she’s mainly pissed at Edward and not Mia. She warmed up to Mia significantly after Edward told her Mia used her face as inspo for a fantasy race of devastatingly beautiful Heavenly warriors.

Emmett: Finds this whole thing hilarious. Keeps bugging Edward to see if Mia has used him as inspiration for any characters of hers.

(She has— all the Cullens, flawless and captivating by design, are fantastic sources of visual inspiration to imagine angels, demons, fairies, elves, and pretty much every fantasy race out there. Sardonically, Edward notes that she’s never once used them as inspiration for an ordinary human).

Jasper: Alternately annoyed and impressed at her emotional range.

(Edward can’t help but wonder why Mia keeps referring to Jasper as “the Southerner” in her thoughts. Like sure it’s a part of his backstory they’ve provided but not a prominent one.

Little does he know Mia’s expending significant mental effort not to refer to Jasper as “Jasper-the-Confederate” every time she sees him).

Alice: The only one with a legitimate reason to interact with Mia. They share an art class together and at first, Mia was going to do her level best to avoid the hell out of her (yes, yes, she’s always imagined what it would be like to meet characters from the books she’s read, the Cullens included— that being said, she’s since discovered she would much prefer to only meet them in her imagination, not in reality).

Then they got assigned to do an art project together. Alice suggested something to do with fashion, which Mia readily agreed to. Somehow, the conversation shifted to a discussion over, hypothetically, the differences in fashion that would exist between deep sea mermaids vs shallow water/reef mermaids, in the event that mermaids existed.

Alice somehow manages to wrangle a promise out of Mia to come over to the Cullen house (“Oh, this’ll be so much fun! What a fantastic idea! We’ll play mermaids— or design mermaid clothes, at any rate. Don’t worry about the materials, I’ll have everything arranged”). Mia, so caught up in their discussion that she temporarily forgot the whole vampire thing, agreed without thinking.

(Edward is not jealous. He’s not).

Esme: Honestly just loves that Edward is interested in something again (he’s been idly composing soundtracks for his favorite scenes).

Mia, who was always kind of pissed that Esme’s (who had a pretty interesting backstory, all things considered— SM was always decent at coming up with those) entire character had been basically reduced to “wife and mother”, decides that since she’s stuck going to the Cullen House anyway, that by God she’s gonna find out what this woman’s passions are outside of devoting her entire life to her husband and kids. Otherwise the whole thing offends her character development sensibilities.

By the end of the visit, Esme is bemusedly shopping for a car alongside a delighted Alice and a fuming Mia because “What do you mean you’re the only one in the family without a vehicle?!”

(She ends up rather fond of Mia).

Carlisle: Confused but supportive. Mia, side eyeing him, keeps dropping hints about how much she loves sleeping and eating and animals and going out in the sun, just in case he starts getting any funny ideas.

Yes, yes, I know 😂

Looking back on it, math is actually mentioned a lot more than I initially thought it was?? There is the obvious mention of measurements (such as of time, ingredients, etc.) but math also comes up when Deuce talks about not understanding his assignments or having a hard time answering. Azul talks about finances and making mathematical calculations, especially when discussing his business. I also assume students would need math for Alchemy/Potionology (which is basically the sciences) and Technomancy (magical tech). Math is alive and well in Twisted Wonderland… Alas 🧮

It’s interesting how TWST integrates the learning of magic with realistic subject matters! Magical schools in particular also make a case for having strong art programs (which tend to be one of the first to get cuts in funding irl 😔), since it’s important for mages to have a good imagination to help them visualize their spells and bring them into existence. Having a solid basis in the arts (be it visual, musical, or some other form) can certainly help with that!

Lord it's been a while since I opened my asks. Apologies for taking a while to answer, I actually wanted to provide some sort of visual but I was struggling the entire time ahehehe TvT

Nevertheless, here they are!

Very much unrefined and unfinished

So! Unfortunately there's not a lot I can share about them because I haven't really fleshed their lore out just yet. Hell the name I have for them is literally the name of an old OC.

BUT

This is Jedi General Sage Asrin of the Coruscant Guard! At the start of the war, they spent a great deal of their time stationed at the temple in Coruscant and would only get dispatched to assist other generals and their battalions before being permanently stationed to Coruscant and getting assigned to the CG by Palpatine himself.

They've basically got this burnt out gifted kid thing going on where, as a youngling, they showed great promise and was recognized for it but then fell off slightly in their later years. Dear old Palps sensed that potential and decided to steadily cultivate that. Of course he'd have to get close to them somehow, so what better way than to assign them as the head of the mp force that literally works right under him?

Of course that works as well as one might expect. After serving with the Guard for a good while, something happens (not exactly sure what yet) and they suddenly disappear. Fox once again becomes the head of the Guard. Things keep on without them, until eventually, after Order 66 has been enacted and Vader jumps into that ship to confront Fox on the matter of being shot at by his own men, their presence is made known once again just as he was about to snap his neck.

The only reason he didn't go through with it was because they stated that he shouldn't, and because they had captured the Jedi master he's been after. So yeah...

They're a Sith now.

Where it goes from there, I do not quite know but the reunion between them and the Guard would be very interesting to see, especially given their current state.

SOME MORE ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

• Used to be such an avid stickler for the rules. Not so much anymore during their time as General, but they still found them to be of great importance. (helps with figuring out how they could twist them to their advantage)

• That was what led to their disdain for young Anakin Skywalker. A disdain they never quite grew out of but it simmered down over the years, overshadowed by their begrudging respect for the man and his feats.

• Used to enjoy making art a lot as a kid. They still do. They just can't do it anymore.

• When the Guard found out, some shinies went out of their way to involve them in painting their armor. A part of them healed.

• It took about two and a half months before Fox warmed up to them. The added half was because of the time they caught him smoking and effectively asked that he quit the habit entirely.

• Cue something heavy happening that causes him to light one up again and instead of reprimanding him, they ask if they could take a drag. Cue the most intense coughing fit of their life.

• Takes advantage of their connection with the Chancellor to allocate resources to the Guard and any other battalion that manages to request them directly.

• Doesn't often drink caf as it makes them sleepy.

• Will sometimes steal paperwork right off of Fox's desk to help lighten his load.

• Sneaks off during the middle of the day to feed a family of tookas living in an alleyway.

• Goes to 79's when they can as it gives them a chance to catch up with some of the battalions they've worked with who were on shore leave.

• Gossip whore.

• Thorn and Thire are their kapwa marites (kapwa: 'fellow', marites: Filipino slang that refers to a person who likes to gossip)

• Horrible driver. Maker forbid you let them take the wheel. Grizzer threw up once. Hound vowed never again to be in the same vehicle as them after that.

Steven Grant - History & English/Literature

A bit of an obvious choice but there's a reason

Steven 100% is a favorite amongst the students

He actually makes learning history and reading fun for them because he talks so enthusiastically about everything in each unit and finds ways to let the kids engage in what's happening

He tries his best to personalize the lessons with either making a worksheet for it to help the kids take in the knowledge or make a slide show for demonstration and visualizing what's being said

His slideshows are actually very iconic because he makes sure they look nice so that the kids will pay attention to them. He has an occasional outdated meme but you know what he's trying and the kids know that

Steven's classroom is also very decorated with both posters that he bought or ones made by students (matter of fact poster making is an extra credit thing if you need it)

He's very attentive to his students and believes that it's crucial for teaching. If a student is struggling then he gladly helps them and works on finding a way to help them learn the lessons in their own way, and if they need to spend some time after school then he'd be happy to stay and see what they need

Steven hates having to be strict and disciplinary but if he needs to then he will.

If a kid misses an assignment's deadline it's okay as long as they give him a heads-up and they turn it in before a unit is done or something. But if someone is actively not doing their homework or assigned work then he will have a talk with them and give them detention if need be and make them do that work

As for troublemakers who disrupt the class he does the whole politely telling them to quiet down or stop, to telling them more sternly, to standing outside till he tells them to come back in, and then the final strike is sending them to the office

On a lighter note, Steven is definitely the kind of teacher to let students eat in his classroom during lunch as long as they don't make a mess and clean after themselves and actually uses that to get to know the kids outside of the lessons

I firmly believe that Steven has talked to the school about creating a book club of some kind so that kids can be in an environment that treats reading as an activity you can do rather than something you NEED to do and sort of does the same with his literature and english students

For example, my senior year English teacher had us do fifteen minute reading time at the beginning of class each day with a book we checked out at the library. I feel like he'd do something like that

But anyway, yeah, he's definitely petitioned to have a book club or some other club similar to that

Marc Spector - Math

I actually see him being more of a student counselor but I just get this weird sense that if I had to pick a subject that he would teach then I'd say math like algebra, calculus, and geometry, for some reason

I don't know he just seems like he's good at math and would be fine with teaching it

His class, despite being a math class, isn't so bad.

Marc's one of those chill teachers who teaches what he needs to and lets the students do their own thing so long as it's not causing any trouble

The first half of class is him teaching the students a new formula, how to do it, how it applies to the world and stuff and then he writes some equations on the board for the students to solve on their own on a piece of paper that they give to him at the end of class just to confirm that they were listening

He's not an easy A exactly. He is when you actually try and listen though

Marc hardly has rules to be honest, they're basic as hell. His class rules are just "Pay attention, do your classwork and homework, yes you are allowed to use a calculator if you need/want to, yes they are allowed on tests, show your work on the sheet or a piece of paper as long as you write your name on it and staple it to the worksheet, don't cheat on your tests, and don't disrupt the class"

He's also very lenient on things. You can listen to music while you work so long as he isn't actively teaching. You can chew gum so long as you aren't chewing or blowing it loudly and sticking it on the desks. You can freely talk to your friends and classmates as long as you aren't bugging them, being loud, or doing it while he is teaching.

Due to the free talking he knows all the gossip around school simply because the kids will be talking about it while they work

He says he doesn't care/isn't into gossip but he secretly moves the kids who gossip toward his desk so that he can hear it while he works at his desk when he changes up the seating chart every once in a while

On top of that he gets to know his students because he will walk around the classroom to stretch his legs and will start small talk with the kids that sometimes leads to full conversations

Marc is very no-nonsense or slacking off though. If a kid is not doing their work then he tells them to start doing it or else they'll need to do it at home along with their homework if they don't get it done at the end of class. As for troublemakers, he just sends them out or to the office since he's learned that more want the attention

Jake Lockley - PE

I know a lot of people say that Jake would be a Spanish/foreign language teacher, and I can see that, but to me, this man gives off PE teacher energy (in a good way)

Jake is sort of the tough love kind of PE teacher that still makes the kids do the activities but he's not cruel

He also doesn't just stand there. If he can he will do the exercises with the kids so that they don't try and be a smart ass with him. He will run the mile with the kids but stays behind so that no one can walk it while he's not looking. It also helps boost the confidence of the kids who don't run as fast and fall behind by being there and praising them for keeping it going

"You're going great. It's about being active not pushing yourself."

If a student feels sick or is on their period and having cramps he'll ask how bad it is and depending on how severe it is he'll let them sit out on that day if it's bad or walk a few laps around the track if they can. "Just as long as you're doing something, okay?"

He's not an idiot though. If they use the sick or period card too many times and it doesn't add up then he calls them out and tells them to do the activity

"Matter of fact, do double because you think I'm stupid."

Jake also isn't oblivious to the fact that he's "the hot teacher" that the female teachers and students blush and giggle at. Of course, he doesn't do anything about either because it's unprofessional and one is a literal crime

But he's not dumb. He knows that some teachers check him out while he's running and exercising with the kids outside

Jake is a part of after-school/extracurricular programs too.

He's definitely a coach for one of the school's sports teams, he finds it to be a great way to give kids something to do after school instead of running around and possibly causing trouble. Jake also likes seeing the kids who've got something going for them and encourages them to do something with it

He also loves seeing all the other clubs and extracurriculars too and is so supportive.

Cheer and dance team going to a competition? Knock 'em dead!

Theatre doing a production? He's buying a ticket and encourages his students and players to go if they can.

Speech and Debate off to a tournament? The other schools have no idea what's coming.

He's sending his love to all of them
