Ice Cube
The cool spring sunlight filtered through the trees of the forest. The colors were much more vivid now than they’d been last month, all mossy greens and burnt sienna. Remus stirred on the forest floor and a dog barked close by. Soon, he felt a wet nose sniffing him and then the nose was gone, replaced by human hands, helping him into a sitting position.
“Moony?” Sirius said, looking at him with concern.
“Yeah,” Remus managed, though his throat was dry and scratchy from howling.
Sirius pulled a blanket from the bag of supplies he kept hidden in the forest. “Let’s not have you turn into an ice cube, ok?” he said, wrapping the blanket around Remus. He nodded against Sirius’s chest. “Are you in any unusual pain?”
“No.”
“Alright if I apparate us, darling? I want to get you warmed up.”
Remus nodded once, letting his head loll against Sirius as he felt the pull of apparition and then the warmth of their house.

James gets Sirius dog toys as a gag gift but then they end up actually using them so that Moony and Padfoot can play tug of war on the full moon.

Duck
From the same universe as Humanity (cw: implied/referenced police brutality)
"Remus!" Lily can't help but gasp as she looks at her best friend. His face is bruised, there's a nasty gash on his neck and, although she can't see them, his wrists are probably red and raw where the handcuffs sat.
"Knocked ma teef ouf." Comes the reply.
Lily winces in sympathy, whipping around to look at the guard who brought her down to the holding cells. "Let him go. His bail is paid, you've had your fun. We'll handle it from here."
The broad man smirks, but unlocks the cell door with a flick of his wand. Small sparks jump off the bars as the door slides open, hitting Remus like tiny silver shards.
"Bloody bastards," Lily hisses as she carefully pulls Remus into a hug. "Let's go. James is out with his brother, it'll be a while before he returns."
"Lily, I'm fine." Comes the immediate answer. He winces as soon as he hears his own voice, and the lisp he currently has due to his missing teeth.
"If you're fine, Petunia tells her friends how proud she is of me," Lily mutters. "You're hurt. At least let me give you some numbing salves for your wrists."
Remus ducks his head as he huffs but doesn't fight her. He knows she worries, and he doesn't want to have a row. Especially not here at the auror station.
-
James and Sirius both jump as the floo roars. But then Lily steps through, and her eyes flash as soon as her gaze falls onto the both of them. Another roar follows and a second person stumbles through, easily caught before they can fall onto the carpet.
"Out. Now." The tone in her voice makes it very clear that she won't have any objection. James only nods, grabbing Sirius by the arm and pulling him out into the backyard.
Things have been tense between Sirius and Lily for months, -and he still doesn't know what he did to make the red-haired witch despise him- so he's all too glad to leave the room.
As he gives a final look, his eyes lock with those of the stranger that came with Lily. He feels like he's seen those eyes before, but can't remember where. Before he can think on it for too long, James has him in a headlock.
"Let's go see if dad has any advice, yeah? He used to work for the DMLE too, you know? Maybe he can help."

dubious & poison
for @wolfstarmicrofic
Aconite, monkshood, wolfbane - the queen of poisons.
Sirius could recite all the names attributed to this particular blue-purple flower, firstly because he was always ace in potions (thank you very much) and secondly because of his vested interest in keeping a certain werewolf alive.
So it stopped him in his tracks when Remus, still tip-toeing around him like Sirius might break at any moment, asked if Sirius would be willing and able to help him brew a Wolfsbane potion.
"I, I have all the ingredients - Dumbledore made sure of that, but you know me, Pads, I've always been shite at potions. And I just figured it would be easier - "
Sirius let Remus trail off, still trying to grasp what he was even going on about. A potion with wolfsbane that Remus was willingly taking? Had taken before? Twelve years in Azkaban, what have I bloody missed?
"Mate, I'm not going to help you poison yourself. I know I'm not ah - as mentally stable as I used to be but you can't think I'm that far gone as to let you do that."
"P-poison myself? Sirius, no, that's not -" Remus pauses, shakes his head and sits down on the old-worn in sofa. From the set of his shoulders, his voice, Sirius can tell it's taken a lot for Remus to ask Sirius for help, for this favor. Remus has never been the type to ask for help, and even more so now, with the awkwardness between them only just beginning to fade as they rediscover themselves and work through their separate traumas, together.
"They developed a...well not a cure. A reprieve really. A potion that let's me keep my mind during the full. It's, it's not perfect but it's better than the alternative, that much I can say. Especially going the last few moons without it." Remus sighs, a hand running absently through his hair, a gesture Sirius recognizes as one of Remus' tells when he's anxious.
"Severus had been tasked with making it for me during my tenure at Hogwarts - that's the only time I've - the ingredients are rare and expensive if you're able to source them at all. And really it requires someone with advanced potions knowledge to even brew it. Safe to say that the vast majority of the werewolf population has no access but that's a whole other - "
Sirius cut him off, sitting next to him on the couch and placing a hand on Remus' shoulder.
"Moony." Sirius says firmly, confidently, despite the fact that he hasn't so much as glanced at a cauldron in twelve years. "Of course I'll help you. I just wish you would've asked sooner."
Remus offers a small smile, turning his head slightly to rest his cheek on Sirius' hand in what Sirius knows to be a silent thank you.

He was twelve years old. He had to deal with being a werewolf, painfully transforming in a wolf every month, and doing it in secret. Not telling his friends a word. Even when they asked him, worried, what happened. Why he looked sick and keep disappearing some days. He was scared. Scared of the truth, scared of losing them, because what will they think of him if they knew he is a werewolf. And he had to carry that, the pain, the worry, the angst, and act like nothing was happening. All by himself. Alone.

Look, I’m finally writing for @wolfstarmicrofic again! I’ve missed it. Today’s prompt is full moon and it was just too good to pass up on. So, er, today we bring a little bit of pain. We all know how Sirius’ first full moon in Azakaban went but what was Remus doing? Well I’m glad you ask, he was suffering, of course.
Remus apparates into the clearing. The night is already dark around him, the wind making the leaves that have not yet fallen rustle. He staggers slightly as he lands, his body already aching from the pull of the moon. His knees buckle and he drops to the ground, moisture seeping through the fabric of his trousers. The pain had started hours ago, as a dull ache in his bones, and he knows it will only get worse from here.
It’s going to be a vicious moon, Remus can feel it already. It’s in the way the wolf is already howling in his chest, the way the smells and sounds of the forest press against his senses. He feels weak already and he knows that’s a bad sign. Usually before a full moon he’s hungry, but right now he can’t remember the last time he ate. He had been drinking, the day before, he thinks, but he doesn’t remember. It doesn’t matter, not really, because once he transform the remnants of the alcohol will vanish too.
Fury and grief and self-loathing bubble like battery acid in his stomach and he swallows back the bile that rises up his throat. He digs his fingers into the soft earth, sucking in a sharp breath at the stabbing pain somewhere in his gut. He knows it’s only moments now before the transformation begins in earnest, his insides twisting painfully as he chokes back a sob.
There’s a rustle of movement somewhere behind him and he whips around just in time to see a flash of brownish fur. For a brief moment he thinks– but it can’t be. It can’t be because it won’t ever be again. Remus is alone.
He wonders, briefly, what he had done to deserve being the only one left. No. Not the only one. One more of their group was still there, only– no. Remus can’t think about that. He makes a low, pained noise as there’s another vicious twist in his gut, as if he was being stabbed.
He doesn’t have much time now, he knows it. He unbuttons his shirt with trembling fingers, his breathing laboured. He shrugs out of the rest of his clothes, not bothering to fold them up as he forces himself up into standing, hiding them together with his wand underneath a low shrub. Once his belongings are hidden he staggers back into the clearing, dropping down to his knees again.
No-one is there to watch over him this time. No-one will be here when he comes back to himself in the morning. Remus is alone, the only one left, and that realisation hurts as much now as it did when he had first got the news. It hadn’t stopped hurting in the days that had passed since his world was turned upside down.
Before Halloween 1981 Remus thought that the transformations he went through every month was the most painful thing he would ever experience.
Now he knows better.
Remus’ body gives out as the transformation starts. The pain sizzles through his body like electricity and he can feel his bones breaking, adjusting, shifting like knives underneath his skin. His eyes roll back in his head as his body tenses, screams tearing from his throat out of his own control.
The wolf comes to in a clearing. It’s a new forest, one that he doesn’t recognise. He heaves himself up on his paws, stretching lazily, his tail sweeping as he takes in his surroundings. He sniffs the air, looking for the familiar trace of his pack but he comes up empty. He pads one way, then the other, unsure which way to go when there is nothing there to guide him.
He growls lowly as yellow eyes search the clearing, ears shifting forward, then back, listening, but he can’t hear anything out of the ordinary. The wolf sniffs along the ground, but there is no trace of his pack. There is no dog, no stag, no rat. The wolf gives a low wail, nervous energy building in him as he realises he’s alone. His pack is gone.
The wolf growls, snapping his jaws impatiently, and he throws his head back to release a howl towards the moon. He waits to hear the dog howl back, to alert him to where they are, but it’s only his own sound that echoes back at him.
His pack isn’t here. They have left him, and he doesn’t understand why. The dog has never kept him waiting before, it always came bundling through the woods whenever the wolf called. But not now. The wolf releases another howl into the night, once again without reply. Something is wrong, the wolf knows that now, and he sets off into the night at breakneck speed.
He has to find them.

Don’t think about Sirius, all hopeless and sad and beaten sitting in his tiny cell as he looks up and through the window he sees the bright full moon and for a brief moment a glimmer of hope makes his lips quirk at the thought of Remus because the moon always reminds him of Remus before it crumbles at the reminder of why the full moon reminds him of his best friend and then his heart breaks all over again at the thought of Remus, out there scared and alone, adding to the ever growing collection of scars and marks on his body.
Don’t think about it.

So um yeah I had a little fight about Remus's werewolf design in the movies because apparently I'm the only person who doesn't absolutely hate it
Anyway that led me to making my own design + Sirius as a dog for size comparision

Transform
“When’s Harry getting here?” Remus asked, as he paced. Sirius resisted the urge to reach out to him, he knew Remus was working out his anxiety.
“He’ll be here in an hour.” Sirius said calmly. “It’ll be alright, Moony.”
“I know…it’s just…Harry’s first full moon with us. What if the wolf doesn’t take to him?”
Sirius gave into the urge and pulled Remus close, his hands working into the knot in his neck. “You recognized our scents when we first transformed with you. It should be the same with Harry. Besides, you’ve seen his animagus form, you know what he’ll look like.
“Yeah…”
“You took the Wolfsbane?”
“Yes.” Remus said, taking deep breaths.
They heard the crack of apparition outside. Sirius went to the door to find Harry on the doorstep, also vibrating with energy. He never expected to be the calm one in this trio.
“You’re early, kid.” Sirius said, hugging Harry as he came in.
“I got off work, so I figured it didn’t make sense to just go home for an hour.” Harry said. “How’s Remus?”
“He’s anxious, but he’s ok.” Sirius said.
As it was getting dark, the three of them went out on the veranda. “Do you guys always end up in the water?” Harry asked, indicating the sea in their backyard.
Remus smiled. “No, not always. Sometimes we just run around the beach. The wards extend twenty kilometers into the water, so we could if we wanted to.”  Remus caught his breath. Sirius whispered something in his ear and kissed him.
“We’ll be here.” Sirius said. “It’s time, Harry.” Sirius transformed into Padfoot and sat down next to Remus, his ears forward.
Harry took a deep breath and transformed into the red fox and sat down next to Padfoot. The moon rose and Remus’s transformation seized him. It took several minutes for his human cries to change into the wolf’s howling.
The large, grey wolf looked at the two animals sitting next to him. He sniffed the fox, who stood still for the inspection. Moony growled a little and the fox growled back, but ultimately submitted to Moony. Padfoot barked and took off. Moony and the fox followed him down the beach.

I genuinely believe that one time Remus was complaining about how no pain medication, magical or muggle, helps with the full moon, and Lily offered him some of her midol and it worked.
