“Will you wear my jersey tomorrow?” James asked, abruptly stopping in the middle of the corridor.

Regulus froze in his tracks, scrunching up his face in an attempt to restrain the ridiculous smile he knew was threatening to spill over. With a deep breath, and a face at least two shades darker than before, Regulus turned around.

“It’s alright if you don’t want to!” James quickly said. “I know there’s a lot of animosity between our houses, and I know people already treat you unfairly because we’re dating, so I completely understand if you don’t-“

“James.” Regulus stepped forward, standing on his tiptoes to press a quick kiss to James’ cheek. “I’d love to wear it.”

A personal headcanon I have for Regulus that I never really see anywhere is that he was a (sometimes selective) mute when he was younger, and it's something that he never completely was able to overcome

Sirius and Andromeda would be just about the only two people he'd speak in front of prior to Hogwarts (well other than his stuffed animals and toys which he could go on and on to). They were the only ones he actually felt comfortable enough to speak to

Now of course at Hogwarts he had to speak up a bit more in front of people, but even then it was very rare for him to speak.

Anxiety and trauma really prevent him from talking to anyone outside his very, very small circle of people. After Sirius leaves him and Andromeda gets married he rarely talked to anyone unless he had no other choice

I swear I've never seen this headcanon anywhere else but I love the idea so much and just wanted to put it out there
